2. Process
For my experiment poster, I used some images that I had taken in the
Photography studio to make it feel more original so I didn’t have to
use existing images. I wanted to create a very grungy thriller styled
poster, and used all kinds of different textures that overlapped the
main two images to give it a very dirty and grungy look. I added an
orange hue to it as I felt it fit best with the style, because it makes it
look more rotten and 'steampunk' like, with the colours and textures
representing rusted metal. I tried to make the two main images blend
into the background whilst at the same time still managing to stand
out by blurring the background a little so the edges of the faces were
visible. I wanted to make the titles and text also fit with the style and
theme, so I chose a very grungy and broken looking font for the title,
which I think works well with the rest of the poster. I wanted to fill up
some space in the centre so I added the tagline in the middle and
made it a big part of the image, highlighting its importance.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I plan to create my posters in a similar fashion. I want to make them look
grungy, by adding things like rotting metal textures, and rusted surfaces. Ill
also make sure the colours compliment the image and the textures so they
don’t look out of place or inappropriate for the poster. I also plan on
making my posters minimalistic, much like my experiment, as I have
always been a big fan of minimalistic movie posters and I think they work
well especially for horror. I'm also hoping to use images of myself to set up
characters in the posters, and I would also like to make them look
suspenseful so that it makes the audience as questions, conveying
emotions on the characters faces much like I did with my experiment.
