Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Night Shooter
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
I have researched different games based, around the game I want to create. I have decided I am
going to aim my video game at young people aged between 18-20. I am aiming my game at this
target audience because of the nature of my game, and I don’t think it would be appropriate for any
person under the age of 18. My game will be aimed at both male and female although, after
conducting research I have found that games that are based on my genre tend to be more popular
with males than females. Also, I have decided to aim my game at all social statuses. Because I
want my game to be able to connect with people from all walks of life and background. I think my
game will appeal more to males than females because the tasks and general concept of the game
are more aimed to males, for example looking at pre-existing games of this genre, the main
character is 9/10 a male. Also, I think that my game will appeal to this age group, because I have
found that people of this age group, want something to aim for and achieve and also they like to
have the freedom to do anything that they want, they want to connect with the character in the
game. Also for example they want to be able to freely get in to any vehicle and feel as if they have
complete control.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
I think my progress this year so far, has been very good. I have learnt new skills in software such
as InDesign during Print Production Unit. When I come to produce my video game I will use new
skills that I have learnt in Photoshop, but also use skills that I learnt last year when I produce my
Advergame, because a lot of the skills that I have touched on this year and during this unit I have
already had experience with, for example the timeline tool in Photoshop that I used during my
video game experience, I had already used this tool last year when I created my Advergame,
because I had to pretty much the same process that I am doing now, using pixels, creating sound
effects and music for a game basically.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
I will be producing my own video game, on a software called Photoshop. I have decided to base
my video game around the pre-existing game Grand Theft Auto, to do this I needed to conduct a
large number of hours researching, this games genre and pre-existing games of this genre. I
conducted my research in a number of different ways, by creating questions, then conducting a
number of interviews for my target audience to partake in, this way I could get there view, favourite
game styles and what they most look for when playing a game. I found that the questions that I
created gave me a great chance to go in depth about these elements. Another way I researched
for this unit was, I looked at a large number of pre-existing games, I bullet pointed certain elements
on the games front cover, such as, “Font” Colour” “Composition”. By covering these elements I
could go in to great detail about what I saw and also I could take inspiration for when I come to
create my video game. I also looked at the game play of a number of different games, to look at

their layout, and to see if I could gain inspiration from.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
When I have finished my production, I will evaluate my work in a number of ways, I will look at the
strengths and weaknesses of my production and product itself, by doing this it will give me a great
chance to understand where I may have gone wrong and also give me the chance to talk about
any improvements that I think would be necessary, also I could have gathered feedback on my
product from my peers and people that are in the same age bracket as my target audience. I think
this would work really well with helping me evaluate my work.
