Initial Reaction
For the video game brief, my initial thoughts were of excitement as I feel I have
enough knowledge and experience in the subject of video games to incorporate
into the creation of my own game.
I’m looking forward to creating a game and designing all the individual assets
for it whilst using skills in programs such as Photoshop and Premiere to create a
snapshot of what my game would look like. First impressions of a video game
project were bad due to our previous IRN-BRU project in which we created an
advergame for the company. I didn’t enjoy this part of the project due to the
restrictions on my ability in Photoshop and Premiere but also the restrictions of
the content through the themes that my group chose and the overall theme of
IRN-BRU. This project, however, I am excited about due to the creative freedoms
that I have to create a product and potentially tell a story.
Currently, I have a few ideas for what I could incorporate into my game from
games I know of and games I have played. Overall I am excited for what I will
create in this project and the tasks I will complete to get there .

Mood Board
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
In my mood board I have collected games that are popular or have been
popular in my generation as this is my target audience. Games like Pokemon,
Minecraft and CSGO all have cult followings which makes them valuable
assets to analysing what makes a game popular. I also included games that I
enjoy or have enjoyed playing such as TimeSplitters, Viva Pinata and Shinobi. I
added these because I feel it important to stick to my own influences as well
as finding out what is popular in the creation of any products.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will be useful when deciding on things such as colour
schemes and graphics. For example I really like the Super Mario 64 bright
colour scheme which could potentially be an inspiration for my own product.
