This document is an assignment on the process of communication by Fardin M. Pathan, a first year student in the electronics and communication branch. It defines communication and describes the key steps in the communication process, including ideation, encoding, transmission, decoding, and feedback response. Ideation is the generation of new ideas. Encoding involves converting ideas into messages. Transmission is sending the message through a selected channel. Decoding interprets the received message. 4.  ideation
 Ideation is the creative process of
generating, developing,
and communicating new ideas, where
an idea is understood as a basic
element of thought that can be either
visual, concrete, or
abstract. Ideation comprises all stages
of a thought cycle, from innovation, to
development, to actualization.

5.  ENCODING (IDEA INTO MESSAGE)
 Encoding is the process of converting data
into a format required for a number of
information processing needs
 Encoding can have two meanings:
1) In computer technology, encoding is the
process of applying a specific code, such
as letters, symbols and numbers, to data
for conversion into an equivalent cipher.
2) In electronics, encoding refers to analog
to digital conversion.

6.  TRANSMISSION
 Transmission refers to the flow of message
over chosen channel.
 Transmission confirms the medium selected
during the process of encoding and keeps
the communication channel free for
interference of noise so that the message
reaches the receiver without disturbance or
distraction.
 It is one of the basic aspects of
communication because it also involves
selecting the proper place, proper way and
proper time.

7.  DECODING (MASSAGE INTO IDEA)
 After the appropriate channel or channels
are selected, the message enters the
decoding stage of the communication
process. Decoding is conducted by the
receiver. Once the message is received and
examined, the stimulus is sent to the brain
for interpreting, in order to assign some
type of meaning to it.
 The process of decoding involves
interpretation and analyzing of message.
Decoding in written communication refers
to reading and understanding written
message.

8.  RESPONSE (FEEDBACK)
 The observation of the receiver’s response
is called feedback. In other words, the part
of the receiver’s response communicated
back to the sender is called feedback.
 Response is the last stage of
communication process. It is the action or
reaction of receiver to the message.
 The feedback that goes to the sender
makes it clear whether the receiver has
acknowledged the information and felt it in
her/his memory or rejected it. He or she
may ask for more information or
clarification.
