10. Sender/EncoderSender/Encoder
Sender/Encoder is a person who
sends the message.
A Sender makes use of
symbols(words / graphics or visual
aids) to convey the message and
produce the required response.
For Instance – a training manager
conducting training for new batch of
employees.
Sender may be an individual or a
group or an organization. The view,
background, approach, skills,
competencies, and knowledge of the
sender have a great impact on the
message.

11. EncodingEncoding
Since the subject matter of communication is theoretical
and intangible, its further passing requires use of certain
symbols such as words, actions or pictures etc. Conversion
of subject matter into these symbols is the process of
encoding.

12. MessageMessage
Message is a key idea that the sender wants to
communicate. It is a sign that elicits the response of
recipient. Communication process begins with deciding
about the message to be conveyed. It must be
ensured that the main objective of the message is
clear.
13. The person who is interested in
communicating has to choose the
channel for sending the required
information, ideas etc. This
information is transmitted to the
receiver through certain channels
which may be either formal or
informal.
ChannelChannel
15. Receiver is the person who receives the message or for
whom the message is meant for. It is the receiver who
tries to understand the message in the best possible
manner in achieving the desired objectives.
ReceiverReceiver
The person who receives the message or symbol
from the communicator tries to convert the same
in such a way so that he may extract its meaning
to his complete understanding.
DecodingDecoding
16. Feedback is the process of
ensuring that the receiver has
received the message and
understood in the same sense as
sender meant it.
Feedback is the process of
ensuring that the receiver has
received the message and
understood in the same sense as
sender meant it.
Encoding is determined by the skills/ knowledge/ attitude and socio-cultural environment of the sender.
The knowledge/ responsiveness/ attention determines the communication level.
Communication can really go downhill if the receiver is not practising active listening skills or if they do not possess enough information to accurately decode the message.
Feedback is the key component of the communication proceess which helps the sender to analyse the efficiency of the message. It helps in sender confirming the correct interpretation of message by the decoder.
