Here are some key points to evaluate your research:
- Product research provided valuable insights into effective design elements, but analyzing a wider variety of products could have offered more perspectives.
- Questionnaires allowed you to gather audience feedback on specific aspects, but questions could have been more targeted to drive design decisions.
- Interviews provided qualitative insights, but asking more probing follow-up questions may have yielded richer data.
- Email distribution for the survey was a low-cost option, but limited the reach. Using multiple distribution channels could have captured more responses.
Overall, your research methods gave useful information, but focusing questions more and casting a wider net may have generated even stronger audience understanding to inform your designs. Refining

6. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have? In the products I have researched I have noticed some
common features throughout for example I think that the colour schemes in all the
products is very vital to pay attention to as it makes the products more attractive
towards the age range. In the magazine cover there is a colour scheme of the same kind
of yellow throughout the cover and I think that this really draws attention to it as the
writing and different styles of font contribute towards the end style.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
– In my own work I will use this method of tying one colour into many different
aspects of my magazine cover as well as my t-shirt design for example in my
magazine I plan on using a picture with a blossom tree in the background so I will
use Photoshop to make sure that I can have some of the writing in the same colour
of the blossom tree. In my photography I will also use these products to influence
my work as the backgrounds in most professional photos are quite bland and bare
so that the person/clothing item can really stand out compared to people more
finding interest in other parts of the photograph.

which contrast well, so all pastels or all similar shades that oppose each

are eye catching but also connote a genre.
• Is there a specific thing you tend to look for when shopping for t-shirts?
Interesting and unusual designs, possibly brand logos and good material.
• Are you drawn to a more sophisticated approach of a magazine or more
childish and relaxed? Mix between the two, magazines which offer
information whilst also have entertaining stories.
• Are you likely to spend time to look through photography to look at a
clothing range? Yea, look books and fashion shoots work well as you can
see the outfit as a whole and also it is usually in a location which reflects
the style.

on the overall design and the style of the top.

just need a few dark colours to go with the design

25. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
– In my opinion I think that some of my strengths of product research is that I went quite in
depth in the research when I was evaluating and analysing other existing products, I feel that
this really helped my final products as I really analysed every detail of a magazine which then
contributed towards the layout of my final product, however I think that a weakness of my
product research is that I chose very similar products to look at whereas I should of chose a
variety so that I could see the differences between them all.
– Questionnaires
• I think that a strength of my questionnaires were that I asked a range of questions that
catered to all my different products and this gave me some good feedback for all my
different products however I feel that I could of asked questions that would be more
useful and would of made a difference towards the final products.
• Interviews
• I think that a strength of my interviews is that I asked questions about all my different products
for example my t-shirt, my magazine design and photography. However I believe that a
weakness of my interview is that my questions weren't In depth enough so I didn't receive the
answers that I was hoping for.
26. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
I found that my questions where responded to quite roughly and not in a lot of depth however I feel like
this could be because of the questions I asked, maybe I would of needed to asked specific questions to
receive the answers that I would of liked and that would really of benefited me.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– To distribute my survey I decided to send it by emails and in my opinion I think that an advantage of
using emails is that there is a low cost and that it is free to use emails, however a disadvantage of
using email to send out my survey is that only the people that I send the link to will be able to
complete it.
