2. Research
• For my research I decided to start by researching different bits York and the location just to find out some
general knowledge so that we can use it towards the planning of our production, knowing more stuff and
facts about the location will benefit our overall look and appearance to the audience. I found about a lot
of statics about York and the sort of people that live here to see which parts and how old these people are
so we can direct ours to the age range that has more young people. I also looked at the gender
demographics to really see if there are places that are more women or more men. I then researched an
eco friendly brand just to get an understanding of the brands we would be doing the concept for and
when looking at a already existing eco finally brand I found that the websites were all very minimalistic
aesthic as they aren't about something really overwhelming as that isn't the main focus to look really over
the top as they just care about the quality and the fact that its eco friendly. Upon researching there are
many different types of eco friendly brands that fluctuate their work all over York however one that I really
liked was everlane which is an eco friendly clothing brand and I really thought that this would of worked
well with my project as it would suit some of my age ranges and yet still stay in the theme of clothing and
the main factor of being eco friendly. Overall I think that my research was good however it stuck to just
one specific topic of finding these different brands and finding loads of information which is good however
I do wish I took some more time and broadened my research so that I would of got a more thorough in
depth research which in tern would of helped the planning and production.

4. Planning
For my planning I started looking at different layout designs that I could use for the layout of the images and if I
just wanted it to be square photos or circles or make them an uneven sizes therefore I found some images that
show how the over all effect would been of the mosaic in each of the boxes so I could judge what it would look
like at the end and I found this really helping looking at different styles and in the end I ended up doing a
mixture of a few having parts that it had parts with more larger images but some rows of all the same size and
shape and I think in the end this worked well as it meant that I got to see everything differently and not as one
neat single file however I think that both layout would look good. Then I went on to the location research that
would benefit my photoshoot as I planned out all the good spots I could go in Knaresborough to take my
images that would fit all the criteria that I need for example I want a lot of green and dark greens and black to
be the main colours in the photos and any other colours I want to be able to edit them out quite easily. I think
overall my planning was good and helped a few things but as a whole it was lacking in a few major places and I
think with a much clearer plan this could have gone quite smoothly compared to rushing the production as
always.

6. Production
For my production I think that overall it looks good however there could be a lot of
improvements to the actual production and lots of things that led up towards it, for
example starting off with the overall images and the taking of these images I used a
600D camera to take them at some of the locations that I mentioned in my planning
and research PowerPoint and I started off at the waterside in Knaresborough
however as the main colour in this end photo that I will be trying to get similar
photos to my larger mosaic photograph, I ended up going to my second photoshoot
option which is a large abandoned rugby house in Knaresborough and I think that
this all worked quite well as the main building is painted many different shades of
green and the main image if green so for the aesthic this worked quite well as the
background of the images is going to be green and black as I took the images at
night time. When it came to the editing of the images I spent a lot of time editing
the clothing in pictures to either black or green so that it keeps in with the theme
and makes it look more like a mosaic which wouldn’t really work if they had a bright
yellow jumper on in the middle. I think that my production went well however I
think that overall I could of done a lot better and really pushed the boat out
however I stayed safe and chose this image where there isn’t too much going on
therefore it could be seen as a boring image however looking more in depth I am
happy with the way it turned out but I will try a harder task next time and push
myself more to create something more exciting.

7. Time management
• In my opinion I do not think that I managed my time well at all, starting from the beginning of the project I initially
started off managing my time well however I very quickly became set on the actual production and spent more time
trying to plan a good idea instead of finding an average idea and making it as good as possible instead I was more
focused on the project idea over the end quality as I tried to do too much I think and in the end I think that it shows
that it could have been overall a lot better. I think from first appearances you can really start to tell that there could
have been a lot of smaller details that I could of spent my time more wisely on more minute things rather than trying
to do loads at not as a good level of quality. Going into the research I was really excited and put a lot of effort in the
beginning but possibly in the wrong department as I went in detail with my research but when I do not think that I

time and that my planning for the production could have been handled a lot better which in tern would of helped my
production. In future I will make sure that I plan all aspects of my work to ensure that I have everything running
smoothly and so that I don’t run out of time at the end as I want to be able to have all my evaluation done and
production done so that I have enough time to re read everything and make sure that it all works.

8. Here you can see that I used many different layers in photoshop to create my photo
mosaic and I used all my pictures first to make the mosaic and then once I had a
good idea of where all the images were going to be placed I started to edit the
original leaf image for example using the clone tool to make the leaves look more
bushy and more life like and fix up any imperfections that there is. To do this I used
a lot of different tools that I can change the image but without leaving anything too
noticeable that it is edited . Once I had finalized all the editing of the actual large
image I turned my attention to editing some of the smaller photographs that make
up the mosaic especially the ones that I felt needed some editing to make them
blend in more to the mosaic therefore I used a lot of smart filters like exposure and
vibrance to make the smaller images try and fit the larger image placement as
much as possible.
