The model on the front cover
has the biggest focus on him
advertising the clothes he is
wearing people will see him
wearing these and be
attracted to the magazine to
see if they are advertised
inside. The photo is a medium
shot, this means you can see a
lot of detail but it isnât too
close to the point of leaving
out extra detail of the image, it
also allows space for the
coverlines, if this was a close
up shot you wouldnât have
enough room to write
anything.
The masthead and cover lines are in
bold letters and bright colours to
catch the eye of the public, âUSHERâ
is in bigger writing compared to the
rest of this coverline to attract
attention to his famous name which
will draw more people to buy the
magazine to see about his personal
life outside of music.
There is also the barcode in the
bottom left so you can easily see the
magazine being reasonably priced
for the amount of content that is
included.
The website is also advertised in the
bottom right to show that you can
access more information and other
magazines through this, this makes
the magazine look more
professional.
3. Existing Product
This image shows a double page spread of a magazine and some of the things it
may include. It starts with a photo of rapper ASAP Rocky and a quote from him,
this gives the reader an insight of what the rapper looks like and gives them an
impression of who he is and what he may be about. His name is written in bold
and gold letters with a white trim, the name is put over the photo o the rapper
to show that this is his name and this spread will be about him. They also use
the words âExclusive Interviewâ in the top left in more bold writing indicating
that this is a piece of rare information that no one else will have gotten hold of
yet.
The magazine also uses smaller subheadings
in smaller bold blue writing to break up the
page and make it look more appealing, they
also do this so people can tell the difference
between the question and ASAPs answer.
They also enlarge another quote next to a
photo of ASAP on the right to make the page
look more appealing as there were no photos
on that side.

The image is taken at a midshot with the main focus being the character in the forefront of
the shot, he is seen to be above the other fans which makes him look more powerful and
important compared to the other fans. The clothing he is wearing are designer âCasualâ
brands such as CP Company and Adidas, these are trademark brands of the âFootball Casualsâ
otherwise known and âUltras or Hooligansâ
The casuals wear these clothes to be recognised by other
opposing fans who are also âdressedâ so that they can meet up
and fight before during or after the game. These types of
clothing are often meant to hide identity, as you can see by the
goggles on the CP Company jacket and the Aquasctum scarf
wrapped around the face.

model is advertising on the front of the magazine. The photo of

26. Research Evaluation
⢠Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and
weaknesses of each method
â Product Research
â Looked for specific images on Google both present and pre 1990.
â A strength of this is that I have quick instant access to a variety of images.
â A weakness could be that I have to enter the specific criteria and this limits the results I may find.
â Questionnaires
⢠A strength of my questionnaire would be that I used survey monkey to get direct answers from people and it will help me
to build my magazine based on the most popular answers.
A negative could be that some people wouldnât answer the questionnaire properly so answers may be false and this could
hinder the quality of my magazine.
â Interviews
My interviews helped me to target specific people who know about the brands I will be using so they can
share genuine opinions.
A negative would be that I am limited to the people around me who I can ask and therefore am limited
to the amount of helpful feedback I can get.
27. Research Evaluation
â What sort of a response did you get?
Consistent within the interviews as the people I interviewed had similar taste in brands and the understanding of the worth of the
products which will be included.
My survey had mixed results as some people liked different combinations of brands and different colour schemes.
â How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
⢠Survey Monkey generates a web link which I emailed to my tutor to put on
blackboard and logged into Survey Monkey to analyse my results.
An advantage of this would be that it helps me get results quickly and itâs also
a free service.
A weakness would be that this is limited as only certain people with that
specific web link can actually do it. I also cannot control who does my survey
which means people outside of my target audience could do my survey and
give me useless answers.
