Here are some key points from the interview:
- The person cares about dressing appropriately for the occasion and weather. This shows they put thought into their outfits.
- They would give honest feedback to a friend about an unflattering outfit, indicating they are looking out for others.
- TV/film is a source of style inspiration, suggesting visual media influences their fashion choices.
Your magazine could appeal to this audience by including outfit inspiration galleries from current shows/movies, as well as tips on dressing for different events and seasons. Providing honest yet tactful fashion advice may also resonate given their willingness to give feedback to friends.
2. Existing Product The magazine gives the
buyer a reason to get the
magazineThe magazine comes with a
positive slogan. This is very rare
with beauty magazines because
they are mostly filled with body
shaming of celebrities. Which
gives out a negative impact on its
young readers.
Gossip is a big selling
point for magazines, so
putting it on the front
cover will bring in more
reader with a particular
fond over the celebrity
in question.
The magazine has their
sponsorship on the front
cover giving that company
a lot of advertisement
The magazine also
promises hair tips and
tricks which will cater to
younger girl. This could also
be categorized as a
selling/advertisement
point.
The magazine is very
popular. So much that
it can have the the
title covered slightly
and people still know
what magazine it is.
Similar colors are used on
the cover, giving it an
appealing and catching
look without being too
over the top with colors
A slogan that can
easily be
remembered
3. Audience Profile This audience profile
shows the stereotypical
person who is interested in
fashion. It shows that they
are typically female
between the ages of 25-39.
The map shows that they
are mostly located in
London, I think that is
because London is the
home of fashion.
The type of film that this person is in to
is romantic comedies and fairytales.
The entertainment varies old timers
shows to cringe white girl shows. The
music artists that they are interested in
are popular for their age range. The
celebrities varies in what they do for
work, going from performer to fashion
designer to TV show host.
4. Existing ProductThe color style on the
magazine complement
the style of the models
style and does so
throughout the cover.
The editor most likely
did this to give the
magazine an appealing
look a as well as a
unique cover for this
specific celebrity
The magazine includes
things that I want to
include in my own
production, it shows a
good way to advertise the
magazines content
It offers a possible prize
for buying the magazine.
This will possibly draw in
more readers.
The magazine offers
exclusive content from
celebrities, this could
help rise the sales of the
magazine.
The magazine has
included a well known
singer on the cover, this
could also boost the
sales of the magazine.
The magazine offers tips
for its readers, once
again giving a reason for
people to buy the
product
The color scheme fits to
what the magazine is
advertising and the
colors are appealing to
look at.
5. Audience Profile
From looking into more detail of the
people that read teen vogue, it is found
that they are most likely a student at a
London university. This person is typically
fussy when it comes to their appearance.
They are politically left and typically found
to have a career in either marketing or
advertising. For their age the have a pretty
steady financial income.
This person is mostly interested in films
that have family friendly or have some
sort of love based storyline. They are
interest musically invested high
impowered women. The other celebrities
are people who could help them build a
career. This could mean they plan on
having a career in the media/fashion
field.
6. Here I've looked at fashion
magazines from 1990 and one
from 2012. I found that that the
biggest difference between the
two magazines is the quality of
the photos and the color
scheme from the 90’s magazine
isn't very appealing and
includes colors that don’t go too
well together, where as the one
from 2012 includes the same
colors throughout on a
background that helps the image to stand out.
From the 90’s cover it shows that even though the magazine has
been around since 1892, the basic design of vogue hasn't
changed, I think that is because it has worked well with the type
of magazine vogue is. The cursive font is fashion related and
makes the cover look more fashionable. Both of the modern
magazines use a lot of red in their cover, this could be because
red stands out quite well and links in with the two brands.

7. Audience Profile
The audience for both Vogue
and Elle are the same, this could
be because the magazines
themselves are very similar. The
stereotypical person who reads
those types of magazines are 18-
25 year old females. They most
likely are to live in London due
to London being very popular
when it comes to fashion.
This person is found to like
stereotypical teenage films. They also
like a lot of celebrities are big fashion
icons. This person will most likely be
studying in London, where fashion is
quite a popular thing to study.

11. Research Analysis
• From looking at the different magazine covers I found that the majority of the
magazines I looked at all had the same layout with either one or two models on
the cover, a bold title at the top, and depending on how popular the magazine is a
the title will be covered by a featured celebrity. I'm going to take this idea and
modify it to fit my own.
• I want to use the idea of covering the title with a model to show popularity, I think
this also shows professionalism, specifically to the design.
• I also found from looking in further detail that my magazine could also cater to
teens. This is because the majority of things I intend to include can also cater to
teens as well as adults.
• I think this research will impact on my future work in a positive way because think
that the research has allowed me to see what type of things certain age groups are
interested in, it also shows what style works for fashion and what doesn’t.
12. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products
have?
• They all represent some segment of fashion, seeing this will help me when it comes to seeing what
works with what.
• I looked into what colour schemes fit into each thing I researched. I did this because when it comes to
taking my photos and choosing a location I will be able to see which colours would fit and which
wouldn’t
• They all target the same audience, middle aged females. From my audience research I found that the
ages I should be looking at are 25-39, knowing this will help when it comes to what content I will include
within my actual magazine.
• All of the magazines that I have looked at are popular, this means that I will know what works with a
magazine cover and what doesn’t hopefully giving me an advantage when it comes to making my own
magazine.
• What aspects of the research will you include within
your own production work?
• The style of the cover. I like how there are two main models on the front of the magazine with the text
angled around them. The front cover has the models over the magazines name, this shows that the
magazine is popular enough that people would recognize it without having to see the full title.
• What is included within the magazine to make people want to read it. I want the subheadings I have to
stand out and be engaging enough to make people want to buy the magazine.
• Make a photography portfolio, magazine, look book and website. In my magazine I want to include a lot
of photos because photography is one of the key aspects of my work.
14. • Observation: my questionnaire found that 70% of people who took my
survey were male.
• What this says about my audience: This means that for my target audience
which is adolescent females I will not have stereotypical answers.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: because my product is
mainly aimed towards females, I could add in a section of the magazine that
is catered towards boys, doing this will greater my audience making the
magazine popular amongst everyone. The product will appeal to my target
audience because it includes things that females are most likely to read
about, including fashion, news and gossip.
Audience
research
15. Audience
research
• Observation: the ages fit in with what I had planned for my target
audience to be.
• What this says about my audience: that I will not have to change any
of my ideas to suit the ages that were answered.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will be
relatable to the reader. I will include tips and tricks for being a
teenager. From the survey I also found that the age group wasn't
what I had previously researched. To fix this issue I plan on catering
my product to a wider variety of ages
16. Audience
research
• Observation: it shows that people really have different opinions when it comes to
fashion. It shows that I should have the magazine mostly based around summer
since that is the most popular opinion.
• What this says about my audience: that I will be able to cater for all of my audience
because I plan on including each season throughout the magazine.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: The age category for my product is
25-39 year old females, I found this out from my target audience research. Because
of those specific ages and genders my product will appeal to this audience because
there is something for everybody. I plan on talking about what sort of clothing are
best fit to each age, this will appeal to my audience because there will then be
content in the magazine available for all ages.
17. Audience
research
• Observation: this shows that a lot of people shop for clothes online, which means I
will have to reference each clothing brand and list a website for where it can be
bought.
• What this says about my audience: that they are very update with technology, so I
will have to include an online version of my magazine.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: because it will include something for
everyone, tips on how to buy online, etc. When making my product I will take into
consideration the stereotypical age and living locations to better understand what
type of people buy the magazine. Looking into these answers in more detail I found
that because the majority of people prefer to shop online I could have a section in
my magazine where it discusses the best places online.
18. Audience
research
• Observation: it shows how different people are when it comes to the
amount of clothes they buy and when they buy them.
• What this says about my audience: some people may have a shopping
addiction so I could include a article about stopping it.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: to fill in with the magazine I
will need to decide whether I want my magazine to be a monthly thing or a
weekly thing. Because of the research I did on my audience I found that a
business woman would be the type of person who would buy the magazine
therefore, I think it would be beneficial if it was monthly.
19. Audience
research
• Observation: most people spend too much money when it comes to
clothing.
• What this says about my audience: the majority of my audience has no
problem when it comes to spending money on new clothing items.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal to
this audience because it will include parts about buying clothing. Due to my
audience being middle aged business women I would want to include
clothing that they would want to buy things from such as, marks and
spencer's, M&Co, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins and NEXT. I would not
include stores such as H&M, Forever 21 and New Look. Due to the fact
these stores don’t fit in with my target audience group.
20. Audience
research
• Observation: more people buy clothes during summer or winter because that is
when the temperatures dramatically change going from hot to cold or the other
way around.
• What this says about my audience: that most people save up and get clothes
nearer winter and summer because they could be going away on a holiday
• How will your product appeal to this audience: because my magazine will have
styling ideas for every season. This will draw people in who would like advice on
their clothing style. From these answers I can narrow my magazine down to only
use two seasons. I think this will appeal better to my audience because it then isn’t
overloaded with information about seasons and has more room for other content.
21. Audience
research
• Observation: most people go to read about fashion online because the
magazine is being killed off by the internet since you can find out something
so much quicker when you Google it.
• What this says about my audience: they prefer things online so I will have to
make the magazine accessible online as well as a hard copy.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: not very well since the
majority of people don’t like reading magazines, and the majority prefer
reading online. In my magazine I would include clothing brands that are
available online, this will draw in more readers because they can then find
out information on online brands. This would be safer because it would be
coming from a “professional” magazine.
22. Do you prefer a online
or magazine?
Magazine Online
• Observation: The answers I got in my questionnaire didn’t fall into my
chosen age category, so I conducted another survey with some of the main
questions. The answers I got were very different to the ones I got for ages
16-18. I found that it is more popular for people to want to read an actual
magazine rather than online, this could be because a stereotypical person
from my target audience is a business woman specialising in fashion.
• What this says about my audience: My product is more fit to these ages
because I plan to include a lot of celebrity content.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: It will be including things
that people of my chosen age group have been found to be reading. It will
appeal to this audience because according to the answers I got it is found
that they prefer to read a hard copy of a magazine rather than online.

24. Interview 1
• You’re going to an autumn themed party. Describe what outfit
you would wear, and why?
A smart shirt, jeans, and a hoodie/jacket. I’d wear the smart shirt and jeans in order to
make myself presentable and the hoodie/jacket in order to keep warm.

you do and why?
I take inspiration for my style from TV and films mostly as well as making sure what I
wear is appropriate to the weather/occasion.
25. Interview 1
• Observation: this person takes pride in how they look. They
wouldn’t shy away from telling someone they don’t look good
in an outfit.
• What this says about my audience: they value how they look
before going out. They don’t want to be embarrassed if their
friend/s aren’t pulling off their outfit, if they aren’t they will
mostly likely make their voice heard.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my product
would appeal to this audience because they commented that
they mostly get their style inspiration from films. I plan on
including a page that lists celebrity style ideas, tips and tricks
where there will most likely be an actor.

• Observation: this person values being warm over how they
look, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, they will most likely
live out of comfortable hoodies.
• What this says about my audience: they are not too interested
in fashion and would probably only care about how they look
if they are going somewhere important.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: if this person
saw my magazine in a shop they are very unlikely to purchase
it because it seems like that they are not too interested in
fashion
