Existing Product
I like the background
colour and the colour of
the font. I want my
magazine cover similar to
this, same colour and the
model in the centre of the
magazine. I also liked the
shadow behind the
celebrity, I might use this
idea in my product.
I will include the
name of the
magazine on the
masthead to help the
audience see it
clearly.
I think it is a good
layout with lots of
details and freebies. I
might use this idea in
my magazine so the
audience is interested
in buying the
magazine.
Using “exclusive” as a
buzz word helps catches
the audience’s attention
and it makes the
audience feel more
involved knowing what is
happening in the main
celebrity’s life. They
might be interested in
buying this magazine
because of the celebrity
in the centre of the
image.
This feature headline
draws the audience’s
attention, because of
the large, easily
recognisable font.
Existing ProductThis double page spread is quite
similar to my idea, I want the
double page spread to have loads
of details, with content that my
audience might be interested in
reading. The audience might want
to read this article because of the
celebrity, they might like the
celebrity, Nicki Minaj, which could
catches their interest to read this
magazine. I liked the background
colour, I think it makes the
content easy to read, in my
product I want to use a simple
colour and an image of the
celebrity. I also liked the font, the
large font shows what the article
is about which catches the
audience’s attention easily and
helps them to know who is the
interviewee.
I like the layout, the way that they positioned the fonts
next to the celebrity image, I think it makes the double
page more interesting. I also like how they divided parts
of the interview, it makes the interview more easy and
quick for the audience to read. They have used numbers
to help the audience to read it in sequence.
Existing Product
I found this
quite similar to
my product
because I want
to create
different styles
with the same
colour in all
styles.
I really liked
the colour of
the clothes
because blue
is my favourite
colour, it is eye
catching and
will catch the
audience’s
attention. I
might be
interested in
using similar
colours.
This fashion sketchbook is quite simple but I only want
it to look simple, so the audience don’t get confused
about the style. The description of the clothes can be
on the other page with details or I can do one at a time
giving details about each design.
This would
help the
audience to
see the design
of the clothes
in the fashion
show. It will be
used as a
catalogue.
Existing Product
I want to do a poster
invitation to a fashion
show. In this existing
product I found a style
similar to my idea.
I really liked the font that
they used in this poster, I
will try to find a similar
font.
I also liked the colour of
this poster, the white
and black photograph
makes the text easier for
the audience to read.
This poster gives all the
information that the
public need to know
about the fashion show.
In my poster I will try
giving information that
will be useful for the
audience. The audience
might like fashion shows,
and the poster is quite
simple and easy for the
audience to extract all
the information.
They gave information
about the principal
attractions in this
fashion show. This is
good to help the
audience have more
interest in seeing the
fashion show.
Existing Product
The colour that they
used in this magazine
and the layout are
quite simple.
The celebrity is on
the right side of the
magazine and all the
freebies are around
her on the left side.
On my product, I will
try to use both sides
of the front cover so
the audience knows
what is inside the
magazine.
The colour of the font
is quite similar to the
background, I think
using only the colour
pink would have made
it bolder.
The audience might be
interested in buying this
magazine because of the
main image of the
celebrity, she maybe was
a famous celebrity in 90s,
who is probably a similar
age to the target
audience. The audience
might be persuaded to
buy because of the plugs
which talk about beauty
and fashion tips.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products
have?
– In all existing products the main subject is fashion.
– They all gave me some ideas about what to do in my final
product for example the colours and layout. The fashion
sketchbook will be similar to that existing product.
• What aspects of the research will you include within
your on work?
– The magazine cover will have a pink background, but my
model will use a different colour of dress to catch the
audience’s attention by having different colours.
– The poster will have more details than the existing product
to give more information about the fashion show.

Interviews
Interview 1
1. Do you like fashion? If yes, what make you like it? And if not, why?
– Yes, I like fashion. I love that fashion and clothes are a way to express what kind of
person we are or we want to be. Our style is a way to show our originality, and too see
different versions of originality from other people. It also away to demonstrate and
show cultural differences, which lets us explore different cultures that aren’t our own.
2. What would you like to see on my products(magazine, poster and sketchbook)
and why?
– In a magazine I would like to see different fashion styles and to learn more about the
world of fashion. Maybe a review of fashion shows or what is in the season. In the
poster it could advertise the magazine, so it would interest me to see a blow up of a
very classic iconic magazine cover. The sketchbook would have to be full of many
different designs and be very inspirational.
3. What visual design interests you the most in fashion?
– I like modern-vintage fusion style, with some looks from the pas combined with a
modern twist.
4. What would interest you the most in a poster and why?
– Like I said previously, a design of a magazine cover that is iconic could look good as a
poster.
5. Would you prefer digital or physical sketchbook and why and what would you
like to be included?
– Physical sketchbook, as it what fashion designers have been using since the beginning
of fashion so feels more iconic.
Interview 1
• Observation: This shows the interviewed opinion about
fashion and the interviewed ideas about my product.
• What this says about my audience: This says the
opinion of a specific person about fashion. It gives
some ideas that I might be interested in use in my final
product. It also shows that the interviewed
preferences.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My
product will appeal to this audience by having a
interesting content that will might catch my audience’s
attention. The design sketches will be created by me
and it will be hand drawn because I think it will look
more unique and classic.
Interview 2
1. Do you like fashion? If yes, what makes you like it? And if not,
why?
– Yes, I do like fashion because I feel like you can express yourself by
what you wear.
2. What would you like to see on my products(magazine, poster and
sketchbook) and why?
– I would like to see different types of fashion styles.
3. What visual design interests you the most in fashion?
– A little logo will interest me the most as I prefer that look rather than
having something that is bold.
4. What would interest you the most in a poster and why?
– The layout to it and the colours along with it will attract me the most.
5. Would you prefer digital or physical sketchbook and why and what
would you like to be included?
– I prefer physical sketchbook because it shows your creativity and is
not limited because you can keep adding to it.
Interview 2
• Observation: This interview gave me some ideas about
what could be attractive to use in my product.
• What this says about my audience: It shows what my
audience would like to see in my product, those
interviewed would like to see different styles on my
product.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: In my
magazine and poster, I will use nice fonts and a

will be eye catching for example, pastel colours and
shades of different colours.
Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience

• My product will appeal to this audience by
having fashion styles related to this age and

looks younger.

fashion based on my questionnaire. More

so it won’t affect the environment.
Social Status B,C1,C2,D,E
• My product will be easy to get, the
magazine will be cheaper so that everyone
can have access to buy it.
Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• This helped me to have some ideas about what I wanted to do in my final product,
for example, the colour of the background and some ideas what I can use on the
magazine front cover. The existing poster gave me the idea to give lots of
information about the fashion show. I will put more detail in my sketchbook, the
existing sketchbook has quite limited information, it only have the design sketch. It
doesn't give me lots of information, it just helps me to collect ideas.
– Questionnaires
• It helped me to see my audience’s opinion about my product and also what they
want to see the most on my product. Using the questionnaire I could decide which
name I would use in my magazine. The respondents helped me to decide the
colour and the content that I will use in my product. The questions sometimes
didn’t have lots of information that will be helpful to produce the product.
– Interviews
• The interviews were a method that gave me more information than the
questionnaire because it has lots of details and also shows what exactly they want
to see in my product. It isn’t from all of my respondents, so it’s quite limited of
information because it is from a specific person.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
The responses that I get in the survey was quite different. In some questions, the
audience has different opinions about fashion, for example, some people like
fashion less and some people like fashion more. The respondents had different
responses about what catches their attention in a magazine to buy/read. For
example, the content needs to be interesting to make them buy it. It helped me
to see what would make them buy/read a magazine.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a
disadvantage.
My survey was digital. This was easy for me to distribute the survey by sending
the link to my friends and sharing it on the Blackboard to let others students do
it. An advantage of this is that this questionnaire was easily to distribute for
everyone by sending on email or any social media and also how easy it is to
analysis all the answers. The disadvantage is that sometimes it takes time to get
answers and it needs a platform to do it.

2. FMP Research

  • 2. Existing Product I like the background colour and the colour of the font. I want my magazine cover similar to this, same colour and the model in the centre of the magazine. I also liked the shadow behind the celebrity, I might use this idea in my product. I will include the name of the magazine on the masthead to help the audience see it clearly. I think it is a good layout with lots of details and freebies. I might use this idea in my magazine so the audience is interested in buying the magazine. Using “exclusive” as a buzz word helps catches the audience’s attention and it makes the audience feel more involved knowing what is happening in the main celebrity’s life. They might be interested in buying this magazine because of the celebrity in the centre of the image. This feature headline draws the audience’s attention, because of the large, easily recognisable font.
  • 3. Existing ProductThis double page spread is quite similar to my idea, I want the double page spread to have loads of details, with content that my audience might be interested in reading. The audience might want to read this article because of the celebrity, they might like the celebrity, Nicki Minaj, which could catches their interest to read this magazine. I liked the background colour, I think it makes the content easy to read, in my product I want to use a simple colour and an image of the celebrity. I also liked the font, the large font shows what the article is about which catches the audience’s attention easily and helps them to know who is the interviewee. I like the layout, the way that they positioned the fonts next to the celebrity image, I think it makes the double page more interesting. I also like how they divided parts of the interview, it makes the interview more easy and quick for the audience to read. They have used numbers to help the audience to read it in sequence.
  • 4. Existing Product I found this quite similar to my product because I want to create different styles with the same colour in all styles. I really liked the colour of the clothes because blue is my favourite colour, it is eye catching and will catch the audience’s attention. I might be interested in using similar colours. This fashion sketchbook is quite simple but I only want it to look simple, so the audience don’t get confused about the style. The description of the clothes can be on the other page with details or I can do one at a time giving details about each design. This would help the audience to see the design of the clothes in the fashion show. It will be used as a catalogue.
  • 5. Existing Product I want to do a poster invitation to a fashion show. In this existing product I found a style similar to my idea. I really liked the font that they used in this poster, I will try to find a similar font. I also liked the colour of this poster, the white and black photograph makes the text easier for the audience to read. This poster gives all the information that the public need to know about the fashion show. In my poster I will try giving information that will be useful for the audience. The audience might like fashion shows, and the poster is quite simple and easy for the audience to extract all the information. They gave information about the principal attractions in this fashion show. This is good to help the audience have more interest in seeing the fashion show.
  • 6. Existing Product The colour that they used in this magazine and the layout are quite simple. The celebrity is on the right side of the magazine and all the freebies are around her on the left side. On my product, I will try to use both sides of the front cover so the audience knows what is inside the magazine. The colour of the font is quite similar to the background, I think using only the colour pink would have made it bolder. The audience might be interested in buying this magazine because of the main image of the celebrity, she maybe was a famous celebrity in 90s, who is probably a similar age to the target audience. The audience might be persuaded to buy because of the plugs which talk about beauty and fashion tips.

The existing poster gave me the idea to give lots of information about the fashion show. I will put more detail in my sketchbook, the existing sketchbook has quite limited information, it only have the design sketch. It doesn't give me lots of information, it just helps me to collect ideas. – Questionnaires • It helped me to see my audience’s opinion about my product and also what they want to see the most on my product. Using the questionnaire I could decide which name I would use in my magazine. The respondents helped me to decide the colour and the content that I will use in my product. The questions sometimes didn’t have lots of information that will be helpful to produce the product. – Interviews • The interviews were a method that gave me more information than the questionnaire because it has lots of details and also shows what exactly they want to see in my product. It isn’t from all of my respondents, so it’s quite limited of information because it is from a specific person.
  • 26. Research Evaluation – What sort of a response did you get? The responses that I get in the survey was quite different. In some questions, the audience has different opinions about fashion, for example, some people like fashion less and some people like fashion more. The respondents had different responses about what catches their attention in a magazine to buy/read. For example, the content needs to be interesting to make them buy it. It helped me to see what would make them buy/read a magazine. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage. My survey was digital. This was easy for me to distribute the survey by sending the link to my friends and sharing it on the Blackboard to let others students do it. An advantage of this is that this questionnaire was easily to distribute for everyone by sending on email or any social media and also how easy it is to analysis all the answers. The disadvantage is that sometimes it takes time to get answers and it needs a platform to do it.
