Analysis of Wedgewood´s The Thirty Years War Essay
Wedgwood, C.V. The Thirty Years War. London: Lowe Brydone Ltd, 1938. Print. It is difficult to
determine when the Thirty Years War really began. Ultimately, a culmination of events led to the
tension between the countries of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to the war s beginning on May 23, 1618,
Europe was in a state of religious, political, and imperial turmoil. The Lutherans, Catholics, and
Calvinists were all competing for religious dominance. Political leaders tried to advocate for their
religions in the elections. There was much controversy regarding the new kings of Bohemia and
political stress between the Bourbons and the Hapsburgs. War was ... Show more content on

Although Wedgwood mentions the incident, she doesn t emphasize it being a huge turning point with
regard to the conflicts in Germany. The extraordinary chance which had saved three lives was a holy
miracle or a comic accident according to the religion of the beholder, but it had no political
significance (Wedgwood p. 79). The Denfenstration of Prague is the initial event that instigated the
tension because it was a rebellion. People became angry and fought for what they thought was right.
Frederick and Ferdinand began to raise their own armies by asking for help from other European
countries. Ferdinand received assistance from Maximilian of Bavaria. In Western Civilizaton, it also
mentions him getting help from Spain. He ensured this help by promising Frederick s lands to them.
Wedgwood explains that this could be considered unconstitutional according to the Peace of
Augsburg. Ferdinand signed this document declaring that German liberties would be observed in
1555. This means that each country can have its own religion if it s Catholic or Lutheran and that they
are the Electors for the empire. If the German princes do not consent to the impeachment of Frederick
as Bohemian king, then giving the land away is stealing. Frederick asked England for support,
especially since he was married to the English King s daughter Elizabeth. Unfortunately, the king had
declined any

Touch Football Training Report
Title Page Name of report, author, data, whole page for title page Introduction This task is about
applying a 5 week training program which aims at improving my physical capabilities as a touch
football player in order to find and justify a position based on my fitness level. I will discuss and
evaluate the link between each position and the amount of fitness required to strive in a youth district
level touch football environment. My best position will be evaluated and justified by the results of the
pre training tests and the post training tests which I took part in. Methodology Over the course of this

My slight improvements may be due to the fact that what was done in the 5 week training program
was not enough for my body to improve enough to succeed reliably in touch football. During all of
these tests, my shoulder injury has impacted on these results and the weather has also been one of the
other major factors within these tests. For example, during the Glycolic Agility Test, on that day the
weather was extremely dry which made me slip on the grass. This created additional effort in trying to
stabilise myself the entire time and it would have slowed me down as well. Also, another factor which
effected these tests was the fact that I was already fatigued from swimming training which I attend

How Did William Tweed Lead To The Tamobilier Scandal
William Tweed was the boss of Tammany Hall. Tammany Hall was a political organization that was
formed in 1789 and was in opposition to the Federalist Party. The business was very popular in its
time for the willingness it had to help the city s poor and immigrant populations. William Tweed,
however, corrupted the company s reputation, and turned it into an image of greed and twisted motive.
As political boss, Mr. Tweed used his formal and informal authority to make profit for himself and the
other accomplices. The group altogether became known as the Tweed ring, and somehow they found a
way to extort an estimated $30 million to $200 million. Tweed used this money to become one of the
city s largest landowners by the end of the 1860 s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This company was given contracts to build railroads. Congressmen were then offered great shares in
the construction which allowed the congressmen to approve federal payments without paying attention
to the expenses. This meant that the railroad builders made large amount of profit, but had no idea
how they were affecting the railroad. The railroad companies were entirely impoverished by the end of
the whole process. Those involved in the scandals realized through time that much more money could
be gained from construction contracts than from operating the completed road. The vice president at
the time, Schuyler Colfax, who was then Speaker of the house, had even bought shares. When the
scandal became a public matter, James Blaine appointed an investigation committee ran by
Representative Luke Poland in 1872. Mr. Blain said that, A charge of bribery is the gravest that can be
made in a legislative body. It seems to me... that this charge demands prompt, thorough, and impartial
investigation. . Several of those officials involved, however, were implicated but not punished. They
claimed that the payment was a gift and not in any way a bribe. Another angered Justice rephrased a
passage of scripture, saying, Let him that has not betrayed the trust of the people , and is without stain,
cast the first stone. . That quote was directed at the press who were enraged because of the scandal.
The Justice was in a way pointing out that the press has manipulated and twisted the view of the
public on many occasions. In that case, the press is without room to place blame and

Pathogens Affecting The American Honey Bee
Fungi are pathogens considered to have a serious impact on honey bees health and mortality by
causing diseases. Nosemosis is one of the most dangerous diseases affecting the adult honey bee by
infecting epithelial cells coating the midgut. This disease is caused by Nosema apis and Nosema
ceranae which are intracellular microsporidian parasites from genus of Nosema. Studies point out that
transportation of honey bees, infected beekeeping materials, and practices of some beekeeping
migration are factors of Nosema s distribution. In addition, it has been demonstrated that some vectors
may carry Nosema spores. For example, it has been found that the regurgitated pellets of the migratory
bee eating bird Merops apiaster contained infective Nosema spores. ... Show more content on

Franca Sozzani Research Paper
Known as an important Italian Journalist, Franca Sozzani can be considered the mother of diversity
and bravery. She was a darer not only for topics and images that the majority of fashion publications
avoided, but also for her big social commitment towards outcasts. I have decided to choose this great
personality among many others because I personally admire her in a professional and humanity way.
She was born the 20th January 1950 and grew up in Mantua, a beautiful, little and historical city in
Italy that in 2016 became Italian Capital of Culture. Franca Sozzani studied Germanic languages and
Philosophy at Cattolica del Sacro Cuore University in Milan, graduating in 1973. She married at the

the way fashion magazines and newspapers express themselves but also for her good intentions. She
was a strong woman with a big heart, a good example of true benevolence. From a humanitarian point
of view as a matter of fact, Sozzani has been awarded the Legion of Honour by French president

The Theory The Mind Body Problem
When discussing sex, the philosophical concept of hylomorphism is helpful. Philosophers have
created three philosophical theories in attempt to solve the mind body problem. The mind body
problem looks to explain both mental and physical properties and how they work together or if the two
even work together. Mental properties are things that only you can feel directly. In other words, mental
properties are private like experience, emotion and beliefs. Physical properties include: size, weight,
shape and color. This means physical properties are observable to the public. One theory the mind
body problem has created is materialism. Materialist believe we are one entity made of physical
matter, our body. The second theory the mind body problem has brought about is dualism. Dualists
believe as human beings we are two entities, the body and the soul/mind. This theory also believes
that the real me is the soul/mind. Hylomorphists have a problem with dualists because they see human
beings as one entity with two dimensions, material and formal. Human bodies become human bodies
by being engulfed by the soul [Christopher Shield, 4]. Gabriel Marcel talks about hylomorphism in the
respect of primary and secondary reflection. Primary reflections tends to analyze and dissociate
object(s). This puts a gap between the two objects. On the other hand, secondary reflection sees no gap
or separation from the object. Secondary reflection ditches the analysis and so, everything that goes

What Is The Difference Between The Godoras Box And...
Loo Wit the Fire Keeper and Pandora s Box
Some people are under the idea that myths can only explain how things were created. However, this is
disproved by many myths. The myths Loo Wit the Fire Keeper and Pandora s Box show that some
myths can also teach universal themes. Even though both Loo Wit the Fire Keeper and Pandora s box
support the theme every cloud has a silver lining, in Loo Wit the Fire Keeper the Creator wants peace
and harmony with mankind while in Pandora s Box Zeus wants to punish mankind. In the myth
Pandora s Box, the gods create Pandora to punish the humans because of Prometheus actions. The
gods give the gift of curiosity to Pandora which causes her to eventually open a box filled with evil.
One of the many differences between the myths are that Pandora s Box explained the creation of
something completely different than Loo Wit the Fire Keeper. In Pandora s Box, the myth explained
the creation of all the evils in the world today: War and Famine, Crime and Pestilence, Spite and

The Oldest Jest by Jennifer Johnston
The Big Houses of The Old Jest and Good Behaviour were first of all, big physically, in relation to the
modest cottages...from the 18th century on, it was the center of wealth, power, and influence. These
Big Houses were normally inhabited by Ascendancy families, Anglo Irish blood, and Anglican faith
(Mortimer 209). In The Big House in Ireland, Seán O Faoláin s statement towards the Ascendancy
sums up the attitude of this society Ireland was their country, Ireland was never their nation...they
were far removed from their fellow countrymen in political loyalty, religion, and education...their way
of life and social outlook seemed to belong to another world (Mortimer 209) and that world was Great
Britain. O Faoláin here describes how the characters in Good Behaviour lived while in The Old Jest
describes the characters living closer to the people in the village and surrounding community. Keane
and Johnston took radical opposite points of view in writing about the decline of the Big House both
bringing aspect of their personal lives into the novels to be a type of biographical perspective of 1920
s Ireland. O Faoláin makes the distinction between Johnston and Keane with the following [a]lthough
Jennifer Johnston is not a daughter of the Big House, in the sense that Molly Keane maybe thus

The Beauty of Walt Whitman s When I Heard the Learn d Astronomer
My father is an amateur astronomer. It is his passion, after he comes home from work at the office, to
wait outside in the fields surrounding our house with his 10 LX200 F6.3 telescope until all hours of
the morning, waiting for the perfect shot of galaxies like NGC 7479 or M16. The next evening at
dinner, despite being awake for over thirty hours, he speaks non stop about how he finally got the
perfect shot after five hours of painstaking positioning, how the galaxy, the nebula, the distant moon

dust to prove it was ever there. A few weeks ago, an article in the ... Show more content on

Instead of asking How does it work? as is everyone else, he begins to ask What do we gain by
knowing? And herein lies the beginning of the investigation Whitman undertakes through his poetry.
The first four lines describe the experience the speaker had while in the lecture room. They don t
directly give away his feelings regarding what is going on around him; he leaves the reader to detect
the attitude on his/her own. The first half could practically be construed as one long first line, since all
four serve the same general purpose that is, to subtly set the beginning tone while creating an adequate
contrast with the last four lines of the poem. They seem to focus mainly on providing an accurate
picture of the situation around the speaker, and are structurally more complex, providing a more
straightforward description than the last four lines. Each line becomes progressively longer than the
next, and the words Whitman chooses are rather flat and all quite literal in their meanings. This first
half seems to be a forthright narrative describing his experience in the lecture hall. But delicate hints
in the text itself insinuate his attitude toward the lecture and audience.
The most conspicuous trend is Whitman s application of repetition. The repetition of the beginning
word when creates a monotonous, listing style also employed in the next three lines illustrating

The structure of the remaining chapter is as follows. The next section provides a description of
crowdfunding and discusses existing research on the topic. The follow up section puts crowdfunding
into perspective of entrepreneurial finance and thereby describes factors affecting entrepreneurial
preferences for crowdfunding as source of finance. Thereafter, we elaborate different business models
used to raise money from the crowd, in particular with respect to the structure of the crowdfunding
process. Building on this discussion, we present and discuss extensively a case study, namely Media

Petroglyphs Writing History
The idea of communicating ideas between people and generations is not a new one, for millennia
stories, advice, knowledge, has been passed from generation to generation; first orally, then through
petroglyphs, and finally handwriting. Although true handwriting has existed for five thousand years;
first invented by the Sumerians as a means of long distance communication which was necessitated by
trade (Mark, Joshua J. Writing. Ancient History Encyclopedia. Ancient History Encyclopedia, 28 Apr.
2011), it may not be the first form of writing ever invented. Some scholars argue that the petroglyphs
found on cave walls in France and Spain were the first form of writing, these paintings were
pictograms, depicting not only a hunt, but, some theorize, the location of hunts, who participated, and
sometimes even contained, or may have contained, a lesson. Don t hunt buffalo here unless you have a
hunting party , Dangerous Mammoth, kill many hunters , Good water near, many deer come drink .
(Gaur, Albertine. Non linguistic Forms of Writing. Literacy and the Politics of Writing. Bristol, UK:

The Legacy Of Women s Roles In The Godfather
In the films viewed this semester powerful figures are rooted in their political legacy however, female
leaders are guided by their moral conscience rather than their political parties legacy. Both Skeffington
and Mrs. Morley like Vito Corleone in the Godfather try to follow the legacy of deceased family
members they idolized. Women are portrayed in The Last Hurrah as Frank Skeffington s idols. Still
with him through a painting he refers to his late wife as the greatest woman to have ever lived.
Skeffington also uses the legacy of his mother s struggle taking leftover food from a wealthy family
when explaining his immoral pursuits of climbing to the top of politics. The legacy of his mother
illustrates his moral conscience is rooted in the politics similar to the cut throat Irish slums. In The
Farmer s Daughter, Ms. Morley plays a powerful role similar to Skeffington as the matriarch of the
Republican machine politics. Mrs. Morley is portrayed like Skeffington who controlled the machine
and even promised to fight Katie bitterly as an opponent. In contrast to Skeffington. her late husband
the politician is only her legacy and not her moral conscience. Ms. Morley is portrayed in the film as
having a strong sense of independent leadership. She did not need a picture or a story of him because
her conscience was independent of men. Even the commitment to the party of her husband is broken.

Depending on Horseshoe Crabs and Bait for Nutrition
Recently, various user groups have relied on horseshoe crabs for bait and nutrition. While concerns
have arisen that the horseshoe crab populations are declining, management of the American species of
horseshoe crabs has been surrounded by controversy (Davis et al., 2006). Historically, horseshoe crabs
have been considered a trash fish , not worthy of resources to establish their population data. As a
result, reporting regulations and harvest restrictions associated with this fishery have been lacking
(Baker et al., 2004).
Catch records for the Limulus commercial fishery in the Delaware Bay declined from 4 million
horseshoe crabs per year to less than 100,000 between the 1870s and the 1960s (Shuster and Botton,
1985). It wasn t until the second half of the 20th century that a commercial fishery on horseshoe crabs
developed to provide bait for use in catching eel (Anguilla rostrada) and whelk (Busycon spp.)
(Ferrari and Targett, 2003). The horseshoe crab commercial fishery has increased dramatically
beginning in 1990 (Berkson and Shuster, 1999). A variety of methods are employed by fishermen to
capture horseshoe crabs: trawls, dredges, hands, and gillnets (Berkson and Shuster, 1999). Entire
beaches covered in horseshoe crabs can easily be harvested by hand since these animals have
essentially no defense mechanism (Berkson and Shuster, 1999). Overall, one million Limulus were

Tattoos Are A Symbol Of Sexual And Bodily Freedom
The practice of tattooing has been used around the globe for ages, particularly in tribal societies.
However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century,
regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control
over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will
argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often
interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their
bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects
interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research
shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio,
larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals
sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women
realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men
think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons
for this promiscuous stereotype s development in Western society, followed by its effects on male
female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement. In Christine

The first grade is called Grade A it has three different ambers and is mostly used on the table. There is
light amber, which is light in color and delicate in taste. Medium amber has a mellow flavor to it and
medium in color. The dark amber is obviously dark in color and full flavored. The next grade is B
which is mostly used in the kitchen but personally, this is my favorite grade of syrup. It is more robust
in flavor and it is used mostly to cook with. The next grade is C which is the commercial syrup. We
don t usually sell this stuff off our shelves to the customers but it still has a good maple flavor. The last
grade is grade D which is the nastiest syrup of the season. Its what we call Buddy Syrup . It has that
name because since it s the last sap of the season collected, it has a bitter taste to it from the buds of
the trees. We don t sell it or even bother putting it in the jugs like the rest of the syrup. We put it in the
stainless steel drums and it gets taken to factories that make the syrup sold in grocery stores. So, the
factories take 2% of the Buddy Syrup , and 98% water and corn syrup and mix it all together and send
it to grocery stores all over and most people buy it that way. The buddy syrup can also be used to
sweeten tobacco and horse feed. It can also turn out to look just like the other grades that we actually
sell to customers. All I have to say is that Mother Nature can be great to work with some years, and
others, she can be a real pain in the

Essay On Juicing
The FDA daily recommended servings of fruits and vegetables is 2 to 4 daily. How many upstanding
citizens actually get that on a daily basis? Does a hamburger s tomato and lettuce count? How about
the salsa on a burrito? What actually counts as a serving? From personal experience, the reality of our
daily intake does not come close to 2 servings let alone 4.What if a person s daily nutritional needs
could be acquired with a glass of juice. Juicing is often regarded as a fad diet, made famous by Dr. Oz
and the Kardashians. When, in actuality, juicing is a holistic way of curing ailments, detoxifying the

Not to mention raw juices are easily processed by the body compared to synthetic vitamins and can
prevent chronic disease more effectively when put up against supplements. Plus, juicing is an easier

the taste can be masked by other fruits or veggies. To be concise, juicing is just as healthy, if not
healthier, than eating regular fruits and vegetables. It is a way of life that not only is beneficial to your
health but also to the well being of your mind. Through Dr. Max Gerson s findings, it disproves the
notion juicing is just a fad diet. Juicing has the ability to heal, detoxify and deliver ample amounts of

What Is The Differences Of Disneyland And Disneyland
Walt Disney World and Disneyland have been in a continuous debate over whether which park tops
the other one. Disneyland resides in the sunny Anaheim, California. Disneyland and California
Adventure are the two parks that travelers and locals can experience in Orange County. 2,506 some
miles away lies Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World has four different parks to adventure. Walt
Disney World also includes 25 plus hotels. Based on personal experience and opinion, I am a proud
supporter that Walt Disney World tops Disneyland by a landslide. Walt Disney World has much more
amenities and thematic features than Disneyland. Even though Walt Disney World and Disneyland
have multiple differences, they are more alike than they are different. Even though Disneyland was
built under Walt s production, Disneyland and Magic Kingdom both have the same layout. Both
entrances lead into Main Street, U.S.A, the Space Mountains are on the bottom right hand of the park,
Adventureland is on the bottom left, and Frontierland is in the left hand corner. Next, both parks have
parades. One parade that is most popular between the two is the lights parade. Floats and characters
get decked out with colorful, flashy, bright lights and perform for the on goers. Lastly, they both have
the same rides. I noticed after experiencing Disney World a couple years ago, that Disneyland and

Compare And Contrast Dog s Death And The Blue Bowl
As we go through life, we experience countless losses. Those losses include loved ones such as family
members, friends, or both pets. Some individuals covet their furry friends as family, and when that
family pet dies people exhibit the same feelings of loss as they would for a human. However, some
individuals are not as involved with their pets, and do not experience the same emotional response to
their passing. Nonetheless, the loss of a pet is a memorable experience for most people. In John
Updike s Dog s Death and Jane Kenyon s The Blue Bowl, the speakers have just lost a pet; and
although their experiences are similar, their attitudes towards their pets departure do not completely
align. This essay will outline the similarities in these poems, as well distinguish their differences. Both
of these poems share the same plot: the loss of a pet and the speakers play by play of how that day
unfolded. These poems are memories and are not written in the present which means the speakers are
sharing their memories through their own reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are
in words that end in ed in the first sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and
line 1 pg 636). In Updike s poem, the speaker refers to a newspaper as an object tied to the dog.

Even though Sigmund Freud never was writing about the movie _Psycho_, theories of Freud, have a

As Norman grew up, he never had the chance to explore his sexual desires with other people.
Norman s behavior can be further analyzed by using Freud s theory of Infantile Sexuality. In his

describes the ideas and emotions which exist within the unconscious mind of children concerning their
desire to possess their mothers sexually and eliminate the threat of their fathers who they competed
with for the attention of their mothers. Norman s problem is he is stuck in the Phallic Stage. The
Phallic Stage is the third stage of child development, occurring between the year of 3 and 6. Between
this time, Norman must have been abandoned by his mother. Her lover must have been envied by
Norman because all he wants is his mother s love and attention. He felt that the other man was a threat
to the relationship Norman and his mother had. After feeling abandoned by his mother, Norman s
Oedipus complex forced him to have a fight with his mother s lover, which eventually made him to
murder the two of them after finding them in bed together . For Freud, most repressed memories relate
to sexuality. However, the killings don t stop with the mother and her partner. Norman continues to
kill women who come to the motel that he finds attractive.

Semiotics And Interactive Design Of Black And White Essay
Introduction
For my Annotated Research Kit, I have explored Black and White (colours), semiotics and interactive
design.
The first keyword I have explored is Black and White. This is an illustration style that I have up until
recently, been using in my studio work, and in my own personal practices as a graphic designer. Black
and White also fits in with the culture of today s younger generation, in which their taste of visual
style and graphic design preference fits in with my Black and White design style.
On a similar level, I used Black and White in an animation advertisement for the New Zealand Safe
Campaign. My intention of using a Black and White watercolour style was to make the animation
appear simple and appealing. I combined the idea of black and white with a watercolour visual style to
help bring about the sense of a natural and real animation story about the sad life of pig farming today.
The second keyword I have explored is semiotics. Semiotics improves everyday life by simplifying
matters and information through the interpretation of simple icons. Without this, people s everyday
life would be much difficult than today as we naturally learn faster and better through visuals and
imagery.
My last keyword is interactive design, which is something that is always around us. From the way we
interact with computers to apps from the Apple store to accessing the ATM and reading an online
eBook.
Ultimately, interactive design is about finding a solution to a

Former president Josep Broz Tito held Yugoslavia together and was able to extinguish the nationalism
growing in many republics. His death however reopened the wound and let the nationalism of the
Serbs become existent. The serb forces ideology for a Greater Serbia was the very motive that sparked
the 3 year long civil war. For starters the Serb forces showed much nationalism by joining up in a
group of 16 Serb Political members and writing the Memorandum of the Serbian Academy of
Sciences and Arts. For them, is was supposedly to support a solution of Yugoslav unity but instead
focused depently on disapproving president Tito s ways. In fact in 1987, the president of Serbia,
Slobodan Milošević, was openly supportive of the document and was even the spokes person for it.
He envisioned and introduce a nationalist motto of strong Serbia, strong Yugoslavia . This nationalism
alone from a president was the spark of all nationalism thereafter. It was a sense of unity for serbians
and made them more superior than other ethnicities due to that fact that the president was so open
about it. This gave him justification by using text to support his beliefs and ideas. This is comparative
to the middle east by Al Qaeda and ISIS. The middle east as well uses documents and books to justify
and spread what they are doing. They use the Quran, a holy book, as justification for the strong hate
for others and strong nationalism for their country. They use versus such as I will cast terror into the

Also by the year 1999 it is found that an unexpectedly a larger percentage (96.95%) of kindergarten
students can access computers either home or school. Based on some statistics, even poor students
who might not access the technology at home are utilizing it by either using the available resources in
the library of their school, or in a classmate s house. These statistics prove that technology has a vital
role in the lives of students. It has helped to verify why an educator presume the change is essential in
teaching and learning methods. If students are so engaged in using the technology outside the
classroom, they value it. Then it would be logical to assume that if technology were merged into the
classroom learning environment has to be more purposeful to the students. Considering the fact that
all parts of society are changed significantly in an unseen way by information technology and has
been continuing the change so that the future will not be neglected. Schools have to adopt these
changes and research must advance with the belief that technology is and will exist to be an expanding
component in the educational system. This is the actuality why the students are so involved when it
comes to the usage of technology. It is a herculean task to progress in a world which is run by
technology and not be affected by it.

  • 2. Analysis of Wedgewood´s The Thirty Years War Essay Wedgwood, C.V. The Thirty Years War. London: Lowe Brydone Ltd, 1938. Print. It is difficult to determine when the Thirty Years War really began. Ultimately, a culmination of events led to the tension between the countries of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to the war s beginning on May 23, 1618, Europe was in a state of religious, political, and imperial turmoil. The Lutherans, Catholics, and Calvinists were all competing for religious dominance. Political leaders tried to advocate for their religions in the elections. There was much controversy regarding the new kings of Bohemia and political stress between the Bourbons and the Hapsburgs. War was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Wedgwood mentions the incident, she doesn t emphasize it being a huge turning point with regard to the conflicts in Germany. The extraordinary chance which had saved three lives was a holy miracle or a comic accident according to the religion of the beholder, but it had no political significance (Wedgwood p. 79). The Denfenstration of Prague is the initial event that instigated the tension because it was a rebellion. People became angry and fought for what they thought was right. Frederick and Ferdinand began to raise their own armies by asking for help from other European countries. Ferdinand received assistance from Maximilian of Bavaria. In Western Civilizaton, it also mentions him getting help from Spain. He ensured this help by promising Frederick s lands to them. Wedgwood explains that this could be considered unconstitutional according to the Peace of Augsburg. Ferdinand signed this document declaring that German liberties would be observed in 1555. This means that each country can have its own religion if it s Catholic or Lutheran and that they are the Electors for the empire. If the German princes do not consent to the impeachment of Frederick as Bohemian king, then giving the land away is stealing. Frederick asked England for support, especially since he was married to the English King s daughter Elizabeth. Unfortunately, the king had declined any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Touch Football Training Report Title Page Name of report, author, data, whole page for title page Introduction This task is about applying a 5 week training program which aims at improving my physical capabilities as a touch football player in order to find and justify a position based on my fitness level. I will discuss and evaluate the link between each position and the amount of fitness required to strive in a youth district level touch football environment. My best position will be evaluated and justified by the results of the pre training tests and the post training tests which I took part in. Methodology Over the course of this term, I have participated in five fitness tests and will participate in five post fitness tests which have effect in touch football in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My slight improvements may be due to the fact that what was done in the 5 week training program was not enough for my body to improve enough to succeed reliably in touch football. During all of these tests, my shoulder injury has impacted on these results and the weather has also been one of the other major factors within these tests. For example, during the Glycolic Agility Test, on that day the weather was extremely dry which made me slip on the grass. This created additional effort in trying to stabilise myself the entire time and it would have slowed me down as well. Also, another factor which effected these tests was the fact that I was already fatigued from swimming training which I attend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did William Tweed Lead To The Tamobilier Scandal William Tweed was the boss of Tammany Hall. Tammany Hall was a political organization that was formed in 1789 and was in opposition to the Federalist Party. The business was very popular in its time for the willingness it had to help the city s poor and immigrant populations. William Tweed, however, corrupted the company s reputation, and turned it into an image of greed and twisted motive. As political boss, Mr. Tweed used his formal and informal authority to make profit for himself and the other accomplices. The group altogether became known as the Tweed ring, and somehow they found a way to extort an estimated $30 million to $200 million. Tweed used this money to become one of the city s largest landowners by the end of the 1860 s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This company was given contracts to build railroads. Congressmen were then offered great shares in the construction which allowed the congressmen to approve federal payments without paying attention to the expenses. This meant that the railroad builders made large amount of profit, but had no idea how they were affecting the railroad. The railroad companies were entirely impoverished by the end of the whole process. Those involved in the scandals realized through time that much more money could be gained from construction contracts than from operating the completed road. The vice president at the time, Schuyler Colfax, who was then Speaker of the house, had even bought shares. When the scandal became a public matter, James Blaine appointed an investigation committee ran by Representative Luke Poland in 1872. Mr. Blain said that, A charge of bribery is the gravest that can be made in a legislative body. It seems to me... that this charge demands prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation. . Several of those officials involved, however, were implicated but not punished. They claimed that the payment was a gift and not in any way a bribe. Another angered Justice rephrased a passage of scripture, saying, Let him that has not betrayed the trust of the people , and is without stain, cast the first stone. . That quote was directed at the press who were enraged because of the scandal. The Justice was in a way pointing out that the press has manipulated and twisted the view of the public on many occasions. In that case, the press is without room to place blame and ... • 5. Pathogens Affecting The American Honey Bee Fungi are pathogens considered to have a serious impact on honey bees health and mortality by causing diseases. Nosemosis is one of the most dangerous diseases affecting the adult honey bee by infecting epithelial cells coating the midgut. This disease is caused by Nosema apis and Nosema ceranae which are intracellular microsporidian parasites from genus of Nosema. Studies point out that transportation of honey bees, infected beekeeping materials, and practices of some beekeeping migration are factors of Nosema s distribution. • 7. The Theory The Mind Body Problem When discussing sex, the philosophical concept of hylomorphism is helpful. Philosophers have created three philosophical theories in attempt to solve the mind body problem. The mind body problem looks to explain both mental and physical properties and how they work together or if the two even work together. Mental properties are things that only you can feel directly. In other words, mental properties are private like experience, emotion and beliefs. Physical properties include: size, weight, shape and color. This means physical properties are observable to the public. One theory the mind body problem has created is materialism. Materialist believe we are one entity made of physical matter, our body. The second theory the mind body problem has brought about is dualism. Dualists believe as human beings we are two entities, the body and the soul/mind. This theory also believes that the real me is the soul/mind. Hylomorphists have a problem with dualists because they see human beings as one entity with two dimensions, material and formal. Human bodies become human bodies by being engulfed by the soul [Christopher Shield, 4]. Gabriel Marcel talks about hylomorphism in the respect of primary and secondary reflection. Primary reflections tends to analyze and dissociate object(s). This puts a gap between the two objects. On the other hand, secondary reflection sees no gap or separation from the object. Secondary reflection ditches the analysis and so, everything that goes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They don t directly give away his feelings regarding what is going on around him; he leaves the reader to detect the attitude on his/her own. The first half could practically be construed as one long first line, since all four serve the same general purpose that is, to subtly set the beginning tone while creating an adequate contrast with the last four lines of the poem. They seem to focus mainly on providing an accurate picture of the situation around the speaker, and are structurally more complex, providing a more straightforward description than the last four lines. Each line becomes progressively longer than the next, and the words Whitman chooses are rather flat and all quite literal in their meanings. This first half seems to be a forthright narrative describing his experience in the lecture hall. But delicate hints in the text itself insinuate his attitude toward the lecture and audience. While concerns have arisen that the horseshoe crab populations are declining, management of the American species of horseshoe crabs has been surrounded by controversy (Davis et al., 2006). Historically, horseshoe crabs have been considered a trash fish , not worthy of resources to establish their population data. As a result, reporting regulations and harvest restrictions associated with this fishery have been lacking (Baker et al., 2004). Catch records for the Limulus commercial fishery in the Delaware Bay declined from 4 million horseshoe crabs per year to less than 100,000 between the 1870s and the 1960s (Shuster and Botton, 1985). It wasn t until the second half of the 20th century that a commercial fishery on horseshoe crabs developed to provide bait for use in catching eel (Anguilla rostrada) and whelk (Busycon spp.) (Ferrari and Targett, 2003). The horseshoe crab commercial fishery has increased dramatically beginning in 1990 (Berkson and Shuster, 1999). A variety of methods are employed by fishermen to capture horseshoe crabs: trawls, dredges, hands, and gillnets (Berkson and Shuster, 1999). Entire beaches covered in horseshoe crabs can easily be harvested by hand since these animals have essentially no defense mechanism (Berkson and Shuster, 1999). However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century, regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio, larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons for this promiscuous stereotype s development in Western society, followed by its effects on male female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement. Disneyland resides in the sunny Anaheim, California. Disneyland and California Adventure are the two parks that travelers and locals can experience in Orange County. 2,506 some miles away lies Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World has four different parks to adventure. Walt Disney World also includes 25 plus hotels. Based on personal experience and opinion, I am a proud supporter that Walt Disney World tops Disneyland by a landslide. Walt Disney World has much more amenities and thematic features than Disneyland. Even though Walt Disney World and Disneyland have multiple differences, they are more alike than they are different. Even though Disneyland was built under Walt s production, Disneyland and Magic Kingdom both have the same layout. Both entrances lead into Main Street, U.S.A, the Space Mountains are on the bottom right hand of the park, Adventureland is on the bottom left, and Frontierland is in the left hand corner. Next, both parks have parades. One parade that is most popular between the two is the lights parade. Floats and characters get decked out with colorful, flashy, bright lights and perform for the on goers. Lastly, they both have the same rides. • 32. Compare And Contrast Dog s Death And The Blue Bowl As we go through life, we experience countless losses. Those losses include loved ones such as family members, friends, or both pets. Some individuals covet their furry friends as family, and when that family pet dies people exhibit the same feelings of loss as they would for a human. However, some individuals are not as involved with their pets, and do not experience the same emotional response to their passing. Nonetheless, the loss of a pet is a memorable experience for most people. In John Updike s Dog s Death and Jane Kenyon s The Blue Bowl, the speakers have just lost a pet; and although their experiences are similar, their attitudes towards their pets departure do not completely align. This essay will outline the similarities in these poems, as well distinguish their differences. Both of these poems share the same plot: the loss of a pet and the speakers play by play of how that day unfolded. These poems are memories and are not written in the present which means the speakers are sharing their memories through their own reality of the experience. Clues that indicate past speech are in words that end in ed in the first sentence of both poems such as kicked or buried (line 1 pg 548 and line 1 pg 636). In Updike s poem, the speaker refers to a newspaper as an object tied to the dog. Similarly in Kenyon s poem, the cat is tied to a blue bowl, which the pet is buried with. • 35. Semiotics And Interactive Design Of Black And White Essay Introduction For my Annotated Research Kit, I have explored Black and White (colours), semiotics and interactive design. The first keyword I have explored is Black and White. This is an illustration style that I have up until recently, been using in my studio work, and in my own personal practices as a graphic designer. Black and White also fits in with the culture of today s younger generation, in which their taste of visual style and graphic design preference fits in with my Black and White design style. On a similar level, I used Black and White in an animation advertisement for the New Zealand Safe Campaign. My intention of using a Black and White watercolour style was to make the animation appear simple and appealing. I combined the idea of black and white with a watercolour visual style to help bring about the sense of a natural and real animation story about the sad life of pig farming today. The second keyword I have explored is semiotics. Semiotics improves everyday life by simplifying matters and information through the interpretation of simple icons. Without this, people s everyday life would be much difficult than today as we naturally learn faster and better through visuals and imagery. My last keyword is interactive design, which is something that is always around us. From the way we interact with computers to apps from the Apple store to accessing the ATM and reading an online eBook. Ultimately, interactive design is about finding a solution to a ... His death however reopened the wound and let the nationalism of the Serbs become existent. The serb forces ideology for a Greater Serbia was the very motive that sparked the 3 year long civil war. For starters the Serb forces showed much nationalism by joining up in a group of 16 Serb Political members and writing the Memorandum of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. For them, is was supposedly to support a solution of Yugoslav unity but instead focused depently on disapproving president Tito s ways. In fact in 1987, the president of Serbia, Slobodan Milošević, was openly supportive of the document and was even the spokes person for it. He envisioned and introduce a nationalist motto of strong Serbia, strong Yugoslavia . This nationalism alone from a president was the spark of all nationalism thereafter. It was a sense of unity for serbians and made them more superior than other ethnicities due to that fact that the president was so open about it. This gave him justification by using text to support his beliefs and ideas. This is comparative to the middle east by Al Qaeda and ISIS. The middle east as well uses documents and books to justify and spread what they are doing.
