Questions On Cia And Aaa
(6 points) List and define CIA and AAA in your own words.
AAA Stands for Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting. The way I could explain it in my
words is a service that controls who has access to what, letting someone authenticate themselves, once
they are authenticated they can receive authorization to be allowed to change files, depending how
high of an authorization level they have, Ex. Admin. The accounting part of AAA is basically just
gathering up all the information such as user time online, what they have done, changed, basically
anything that happens on a server or a computer network it logs and saves for future use.
CIA Stands for Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability. In my own words it is something like this.
o Confidentiality (C): It is as simple as it sounds to keep information meant for a certain group of
people only for those people. This is done by using usernames and passwords, keeping prying eyes of
people who do not belong in that group out. o Integrity (I): It is how secure or trustworthy a source is.
Looking at data integrity, the integrity of the data is speaking of is that data is original or it has been
changed for malicious intent. It also includes the concepts of origin or source integrity, which looks at
if the content, is actually from the source that it is supposed to come from not from another. For
example if you are downloading a PDF from Microsoft but it is actually from a different source it can

My Experience As A Licensed Practical Nurse
In part one of this assignment; I discussed my experiences as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I recalled
into some of the biggest hurdles I tackled and now I envision the challenges, I may face during the
transition. In this paper, I will be further discussing the transition from Licensed practical nurse to
Registered nurse. The focus is on the responsibilities of a RN and stages of change in becoming a
student once again. As I discussed in my video, there are challenges that I will face in the upcoming
year that may make the journey difficult. I mentioned my current nursing experiences but as a RN,
those experiences will vary because of the difference in training and accountability. I will outline the
differences by elaborating on the scopes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2013. Page 52). In this early stage of nursing development, prospective nursing students take courses
within an accredited nursing program to study foundational nursing curricula. During this time, a
professional nursing student is able to take knowledge learned within a classroom and begin to apply
fundamental practices under the supervision of their instructor. The student is completely reliant on
external authority, an experienced knowledgeable teacher who provides the guidance for adequate
practical support. Students rely on their instructor for guidance and the right answer to their questions.
From my past experience in the LPN program this stage was when we were taking information
learned in class and applying it in lab on simulated dummies for practice. The second stage discussed
by Cohen is the Negative Independence phase. According to Harrington and Terry (2013), this stage is
when the nursing students have more opportunities to apply theory to practice and assumes more
responsibility. The student also begins to develop more confidence thus begins to adopt some of the
role values and is more willing to question traditional habits and ways of knowing. As a student begins
to gain practical knowledge and the self confidence grows, they start to question indiscriminately.
They utilize the information gained from the Unilateral Dependence stage and begin

Winnie The Pooh Friendship Theme
Winnie The Pooh is a collection of tales about the adventures of Pooh and all his friends. This book is
written like a narrative in which the author is the narrator. The collection of chapters do not all go
along with one another and can be read separately without any particular order. This book starts off
with the story about how Pooh was previously known as Edward Bear until he wanted a new name in
which Christopher Robin, his owner, came up with the name Winnie The Pooh. The name Pooh came
from a swam Christopher Robin had once before. After Pooh s introduction the book goes on to talk
about all the adventures Pooh went on throughout his life. One chapter talks about Pooh going through
the trouble of sneaking honey from the bees by using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All throughout the book Pooh is never embarking on journeys alone. He is always accompanied by a
companion, whether it was Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, or the Rabbit. One of the most
prominent relationships was between Pooh and Christopher Robin. At the end of some of the chapters,
Christopher Robin is telling the narrator he was going to take a bath. He never manages to leave Pooh
behind as he picks him up by the leg, and walked up the stairs trailing Pooh behind him going bump,
bump, bump up the stairs (pg. 21 161). Pooh wasn t just any old bear to Christopher Robin.
Christopher adored Pooh and treated him as if he was real. He wanted the narrator to re tell these
stories for Pooh and tell him about their different adventures. Not only was this evident throughout the
story, but also through the illustrations. Each illustration has a scene with Pooh and at least one other
character showing their closeness. Children can relate to that one stuffed animal that they took
everywhere with them. This is almost like one of the first friendships a child has. Although it is with a
stuffed animal, the reader is able to get the sense of how much Pooh means to Christopher. Making
and keeping friends is not always easy and in middle school this can be especially difficult. This
would be a good lesson to teach them the

Cinematic Forms In The Truman Show By Peter Weir
Peter Weirs The Truman Show presents a retrospective on the challenge of new experiences. With the
uses of cinematic forms such as camera angles like high and medium shots which enhance characters
discussions and music that emphasises the emotions of the characters such as Truman who is
encountering and facing a new experiences, Weir is able to visually represent the challenge of new
experiences in The Truman Show through the use of cinematic forms.
In The Truman Show, Weir expresses the challenges of new experiences with the uses of cinematic
forms, Truman the main character gets a lot of these as the show revolves around him experiencing
challenges in his daily life. Weir uses the cinematic form of Music to capture the mood and
atmosphere of the scene, he has selected music that would fit the scene and complement the
challenges of a new experience. An example of this is when Truman reunites with his father, the music
that was playing was happy and it captured the mood and the atmosphere of the scene as the audience
of the show felt joyous for Truman as well as the audience of the movie. Weir is able to give a visual
representation of the challenge of new experiences through the use of cinematic forms. When Truman
felt scared of traveling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece...
Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece
Inasmuch as a woman s virginity or chastity is imagined as an object that can be owned, rape becomes
a property crime, consisting in the theft of a woman s virtue from its rightful owner, her male
guardian. Bernice Harris articulates this view with respect to Titus Andronicus: The definition of the
word is based on ownership: rape is an appropriate term only if what is taken is not rightfully owned
(388). The man who can claim ownership of a woman is subsequently dishonored when she is
violated: Honour, then, is a function of ownership (389).
While it is tempting to see the Shakespearean concept of rape entirely in such terms, such a view is
not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By contrast, the pagan humanist tradition, with its pantheon of capricious and often morally suspect
gods, upheld a highly public ideal of honor, whereby behavior could be regulated. Whereas guilt can
be either private or public, shame is necessarily a public affair. Guilt, as much a theological as ethical
construct, requires appropriate punishment, but shame requires simply appropriate action to eliminate
its source. Without dwelling on these distinctions, however, Williams argues that in the early modern
period these contradictory sets of values operated simultaneously, and it is this tension that informs the
often contradictory treatment of rape in such texts as Titus Andronicus and Lucrece.
In The Rape of Lucrece this tension is worked out in the portrayals of the two primary male
characters. The text is overtly concerned with the question of male honor, and the damage done to it
by the act of rape. Contradictory to the predictions of the rape=theft equation, however, it is not only
Collatine, the injured husband, who is depicted as dishonored by the crime. Rather than as a
conquering hero, the rapist Tarquin is himself depicted as dishonored by his crime. The different forms
of dishonor incurred by the two men, I will argue, result from the judgments

What Are Xerxes Attitudes Towards The Spartans
Primary Source Essay #1
Today when people talk about the Spartans they think about the movie 300 that was created that shows
300 Spartan warriors facing Xerxes army of 150,000 men. What they do not know are the actual real
accounts that happened during the time of this particular Persian invasion. When Herodotus wrote the
Histories he mentions this battle in great detail. His thirst for knowledge gives us a better perspective
of Spartans and Persians since his writings have lasted since they were written. In the Histories
Herodotus gives pure examples of Xerxes attitudes towards the Greeks along with his superstitious
and tyrannical behavior. Throughout his journey listening to peddlers and many other scholars like
himself he learned of Spartan culture and how they took arms on each battlefield. After each ... Show

When Xerxes sent his men through the hidden path around the mountain Leonidas still stood his
ground with his Spartans even though he allowed most of the troops to return home. This shows in
Spartan culture a man would rather die in battle than run and be dishonored. Leonidas was
superstitious about the oracle that determined a king shall fall from Sparta or Sparta itself will be
destroyed. The people of Sparta must have had much intelligence to understand how to create this
choke point of the other army. Many of the different battles even after Thermopylae show that the
Spartans were versatile toward warfare.
Honor is shown throughout this narrative. Demaratus warns Xerxes about facing the Greeks in battle
and talks about the men being free. No matter what number of enemies they face to either conquer
them or die trying. This not only shows how they seek honor but what was valued in their society.
When Xerxes sends heralds to each town for earth and water the perception of this from each Greek
city was that they would become slaves and no longer free

Coordination Plan
3. Coordination Plan There is a multitude of reasons for an organization to have a business continuity
plan in place. The incident does not really matter whether it is natural or manmade disaster/incident
but if an incident occurs, it can have a disastrous effect causing the company operation to become
unstable and having the inability to contain or control its impact can halt the business routine (Vacca,
2013).
Also, creating a good working relationship with the law enforcement can assist in aiding an
organization with an incident. Although organizations will sometimes not notify or include LE with
their investigation because it can only be for the internal purpose such as monitoring an employee, it

Use of advanced security information and event management solution is in place in order to capture
any anomaly or detect nefarious activities within the network (Abelar, 2014).
Other considerations to take to make sure that network intrusion is detected and/mitigated is by
constantly monitoring the network for any anomalies and having an alert/notification system. Alert
and notification system will allow for the organizations incident response team/plan to be activated
and take necessary steps to isolate the incident, contain, and take necessary action to resolve the issue.
Additionally, organization needs to have in depth defense security architecture to protect their

Summary Of Thirty-Eight Who Saw Murder Didn T Call The Police
In the essay Thirty Eight who saw Murder didn t call the Police , Martin Gansberg describes how
selfish and inconsiderable some people can be. He claims that society should be more involved in
taking action when seeing violent or life threatening events occurring in their communities. Gansberg
strongly supports the fact that people should have taken immediate action when they saw the murder s
attempt to killing Miss Genovese, the victim. He also supports this claim by giving feedback from
different authority figures. He mentions the detective s feedback on the situation stating that, as we
have reconstructed the crime, the assailant had three chances to kill this woman during a 35 minute
period. He returned twice to complete the job. If we had been called when he first attacked, the

War I And World War II
A state of isolationism was a goal too great for America to handle. America and its leaders had sought
to stay out of both World War I and World War II only to be pulled in by intense happenings that
inflicted chaos on the nations people. World War II would be a time in American history that would
bring many fresh war tactics and developments, that helped to pull a depraved nation from the depths
of a depression as well as pledge the freedom and prosperity of its opposing nations. Dangerous
discoveries will be made in the world would be left to be governed by two world powers. Hoping to
remain a neutral nation and be in a state of isolationism was a dream that would be ended very soon
for America. With Japan, and it s a leader Admiral Yamamoto acting as an aggressor nation the US
wanted to indirectly impact Japan, and so on oil embargo was passed, stopping all oil and steel trading
with Japan. This left the island nation of Japan having to seek new resources in South East Asia, and
made the Japanese realize that they could not inflict any relation on America unless it s naval fleet was
gone. As a result of this realization, Admiral Yamamoto made a plan to attack Americas naval fleet in
Pearl Harbor. On December 7, 1941 Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor and destroyed naval

The opportunities range from taxation of sugar based drinks to educating people only healthy foods. A
few of the options are the following examples. At present, benefits are distributed once a month. One
of the programs that are being discussed are the possibility of dividing up the SNAP benefit payment

some researcher propose distributing SNAP benefits more often than the monthly schedule (as quoted

the curbing of high calorie foods are thought to generate obesity. The option also comes with
problems. Some participants have no genuine incentive to improve their eating practices, and in store

to be rewarded for buying healthy, fresh foods with their snap benefits. An option that would provide
an incentive for every purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables a reimbursement of SNAP cash will be

Assessing the Impacts of Hurricane Katrina and the Macondo...
Oil spills are usually associated with environmental disasters; because of this the Oil Pollution Act of
1990 and related policies have inadequate amount of tools that will help humans deal with these
accidents. When the Macondo blow out happened, we had to assess the impact that it also had on
human health, mental and physical because it had affected a large area. The Macondo spill
unfortunately happened less than five years after Hurricane Katrina damaged Louisiana and
Mississippi coast. Clearly, a lesson that was learnt from the oil spill was that the nation wasn t
prepared for widespread, poor effects on human health and mental well being. Most of the
communities along the Gulf had resided there for the majority of their lives or at least 20 years; this oil
spill had worried the residents about payments, money issues, and the stability of their communities,
which in turn affected their health.
From what happened during Hurricane Katrina and now the oil spill, speakers Sharon Gauthe and
Gracie Scire are really trying to stress the importance of the need for additional community mental
health services. The citizens are trying to cope with physical ailments and stress and even though the
health agencies issued personal protective equipment guidelines for response workers and created a
registry of these newly trained personnel, they missed the crucial window for screening their baseline
physical health before the workers were directly exposed to oil products; Industry and

Recommendations: The Department of Homeland Security do have grants available for its programs,
however there is a need to know where the grants need to be channel to, for better productivity. As
recommendation, there is a need to continue encouraging forums where intergovernmental agencies
and the citizens can frequently have an open discussion such as media chats and possible quarterly
live Television programs, there should be a day or a week in the year dedicated to Human Trafficking.
Also a monthly magazine would be a good idea to collaborate into the awareness effort. September
2013, the Senate committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs under the chairmanship of
Senator Thomas Carper organized intergovernmental relations and interagency hearing titled,
Combating Human Trafficking: Federal, State and Local Perspective . This hearing brought together
State Judge, Civil Right Attorney, School Teacher, Women advocacy activist, experts in various

The Open Window Analysis
In the story The Open Window, Vera is a very odd child. What she does to Mr. Nuttel is very rude but
cunning. The fib she tells in the beginning of the story is believable to the reader and Framton Nuttel.
Vera is a very smart girl and uses this skill to her advantage. But, she did not end up this way. From
her childhood to her teenage years, Vera was always used for something her older cousins did not
want to do. So she taught herself well and now used it on Mr. Nuttel. Now you may be asking
yourselves, What did her older cousins make her do to become so smart? Well, in the next three
paragraphs, I am going to go back in time to Vera s adolescent years and tell you. The first story is
back when Vera was just 5 years of age. One of the boys had decided to play a little trick on her. There
is a horrid beast underneath the house and my mother wants to get it out . She was terrified and told
him to do it himself but he said, I am too large to fit through the little opening Vera, just do it! . So she
gathered up all her courage and crawled her way through the opening. It was very dark and damp
under there. There were cobwebs galore and she could here the soft squeaks of mice and just a slight
drip of water every so often. She gulped and let out a shaky breath and continued crawling. All of the
sudden, her older cousin says, When you find the beast put it in this bag and carry it out . Then he

The Flynn Theory
There is a theory in psychology, called the Flynn effect that basically shows that each generation is
roughly 10 IQ points higher than its immediate predecessor. According to this theory, if someone was
born with an average IQ in the 1940s, the IQ change will have been so drastic in the time between
then and now, that they would actually be found to be mentally impaired by todays standard of IQ test.
Although only discovered in the 1930s, it is widely accepted that this has always been occurring.
Through lessons taught by older generations and evolution in brain ability, each generation is ability to
comprehend and think in ways that previous generations largely cannot. Of course there are

It would be more than 60 years before the civil war would end in America and end slavery, but this is
the first time where the general sense towards slavery changed. For the first time in human history,
people began to recognize the similarities they shared with one another, rather than the differences.
The thought processes are generational in that younger generations are always a little more liberal and
tolerant than the ones before, but as they grow older and rise to power, their new beliefs attempt to
make the world a better place. In time, the united states went from a country with state sanctioned
racism and discrimination, to one so dedicated to resolving injustice that the country tore itself apart in
order to see that achieve that goal. Granted, the ideas of social justice leading up to the civil war are
far more primitive than the ones current Americans have, but the gradual improvement of the
treatment of non white peoples can be mapped since then. This is not to say that Americans at that
time saw minorities as equals, but the progress of the human race had evolved to a point that almost
all major countries recognized the atrocities of a practice as long as humans had existed, and ended it

ESSAY REVIEW
You begin to respond to the prompt directly in the final two paragraphs. The penultimate paragraph,
which addresses the question of why you want and need to study in the US is quite vague. The
argument that U.S. education is great is rather general (and not true _in general_). If you specified that
program you want to enroll in and why, you might have something more concrete and meaningful to
say. Your final paragraph deals with what you intend to do on your return to Georgia. This paragraph
is a little bit clearer, but not by much. It would be a good idea to specify what you mean by the
management system, especially if you mean something, as you apparently do, that is applicable to
both government and the private sector. The essay says next to nothing about democratic
development, but knowing nothing about the program for which you are applying, I ve no idea how
important that is. I suggest, in any case, expanding the last two paragraphs, with a view to making
their claims more specific, and condensing the rest of the essay. Keep your sentences relatively short
and simple in order to minimise the number of errors.

intrigued by the Oracle s answer, Socrates embarks on a journey to find someone who is truly wise.
The method he used to establish someone s wisdom or lack of it has been known as the Socratic
dialectic. Socrates dialectic technique, its aim and its method will be examined in this paper. The
Apology of Socrates by Plato, will be used as a case study to illustrate key points.
Upon hearing the Oracle s answer that no one is wiser than him, Socrates found the literal
interpretation difficult to comprehend. He decided to seek out people who have a ... Show more

And while his method might appear ruthless and hostile, it was essentially ethical in character. Belief
in a purely objective understanding of such concepts as justice, love, and virtue, and the self
knowledge that he encouraged, were the basis of his teachings.
He believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad;
correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Socrates was not
a believer in any specific metaphysical point of view, but he believed that he was appointed by God to
examine himself and others in order to discover who they really are. Thus, he claimed that the highest
goodness consists in the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral understanding.
Wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the
individual and to the state . (Plato, p 62).
As previously stated, Socrates dialectic aims to determine whether an individual makes justifiable
claims to knowledge by using the method of cross examination in order to draw out a contradiction or
inconsistency in their claims. However, this is not the only aim of dialectic. The Socratic method is
also a means of conversing, developing a dialogue that aims to bring awareness to person s ignorance
of a subject. It aims to free other from ignorance, encourage them on their path to self knowledge,
assist then in leading good, virtuous life and ultimately

Case Study #1: Non tariff Barriers to International Trade 1. In the Xia case, if the WTO were to rule in
favor of Brazil, which of the WTO trade agreements would contain the justification and why? Answer:
Brazil banned imports of Xia goods from China because there was allegations and unconfirmed
speculation pertaining to China s use of hazardous materials (for example, lead paint and potentially
carcinogenic plastic and rubbers) to manufacture toys cheaply, which sparked consumer panic around
the globe. The imports of Xia goods were banned until the test was performed to guarantee that these
goods do not possess any health risk. The Chinese government completely refuted this claim and

Answer: The Chinese government would reduce or eliminate the quotas and other measures which
until now have protected domestic production of soybeans from cheaper imports. China s
consumption of soybeans ballooned by more than 160% between 2000 and 2011 when import barriers
were removed, but the area planted with soybeans declined by 20% during those same years. Chinese
farmers were simply unable to compete with imported soybeans that were RMB 300 to 600 (US$45
90) cheaper per ton than domestic beans. Imported soybeans now account for three quarters of the
soybeans processed into cooking oil and feed in China, the products of soybean crushing. If China is
able to prove that domestic soybean producers are not able to survive because of low cost imports
from Brazil, the WTO ruling would be in favor of China and such measures would be upheld.
However, if such measures were used as retaliation to Brazilian ban on Chinese toys, the WTO ruling
would be in favor of Brazil and China would not be able to restrict import of Soybean from Brazil.

The Change In Style Of Jazz Bass
Final Paper
MUSI1024
Explore the change in style of jazz bass since the introduction of electric bass (bass guitar)
Modern 4 string, fretted, horizontally played electric bass was first introduced by Paul Tutmarc in the
1930s. Later in 1950s Leo Fender developed this idea so it could be mass produced and finally
introducing the Fender Precision bass in 1951. Electric bass then started to coexist with the double
basses in jazz, since there were bassists starting to use electric bass as they are easier to be played,
could be easily transported, and were able to be amplified to any volume without feeding back

The Pros And Cons Of The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact
As tensions rose on the lead up to the Second World War, increasing pressures on European political
leaders forced them into fostering new patterns of international relations. The Molotov Ribbentrop
Pact was a move that greatly changed the trajectory in the build up to the Second World War. There
were many factors that gave rise to the signing of the Molotov Ribbentrop Pact; Stalin s fear of
isolation and Hitler s desire for control were not the only deciding elements. This paper will deal with
Soviet Foreign Policy from the years of 1939 41, with reference to the Molotov Ribbentrop Pact. We
will discuss the lead up to the signing of the Pact giving the various different options available to the
Soviets, the reasons for their choices and the effect these choices had on Europe. The following
chapter will discuss the conditions that led to the Pact. As the paper continues, we will try to clarify
Stalin s frame of mind and how it impacted the USSR s foreign policy. Stalin was known to be
distrustful, a perception that was challenged by his collusion with the Nazi Regime. However, this
paper will ask whether he truly trusted Hitler or whether he may have had an ulterior motive when
forging the agreement. The third chapter will discuss how Germany prepared to wage a war against

How Descartes Throws On The Wind Of Search For A Universal...
In this essay I will address how Descartes throws all his beliefs to the wind in search for a universal
and unchanging foundational truth, that bypass his deceptive senses and shines light on all his beliefs
that are clearly and distinctly, proven based on his supreme foundational truth.
As Descartes tries to unravel his former beliefs and find an unquestioning truth in which he can build
all other truths without the errors of deception leading him astray. Descartes begins his search by
questioning how his former beliefs became questionable and faulty in the first place. In meditation one
Descartes explains that everything that he had previously believed in before had been learned either by
his sensory perceptions or through his sensory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which leads Descartes to distrust all his sensory perceptions, because he feels that they can be used
against him to deceive him. However Descartes does see that even though his senses can deceive him
that doesn t mean that his senses aren t altogether a deception themselves. His mind cannot create
something that he himself has never felt, heard, seen, smelled, or tasted before, the mind creates what
it has encountered before and sometimes even if you haven t encountered a specific situation or
sensation the mind will at least compare it to something of similar sensation. So, for this Descartes
knows that his senses have the ability to deceive him but that when they do deceive him they are using
real reference points.
With the false sensory perceptions in mind, Descartes believes of this idea that an evil demon exist to
solely try and deceive him using his senses. Which leads Descartes to cut out all understanding and
beliefs of everything he cant be sure of no sky, no earth, no minds, no bodies (pg. 139). But then
Descartes realizes and states in his second meditation, if he cut outs everything in which he thought
existed what would he be left with, nothing, would he himself even exist? No, he has to exist right
because he s thinking and the evil demon is deceiving him. The evil demon would not try and deceive
him if he did not exist in the first place. (Descartes Meditations 1 3, slide 26) This train of thought
leads Descartes to his most famous line and the basis

Abstract
The removal of phenol from aqueous solution was evaluated by batch method using two ion exchange
resins, Duolite A 171 (DLE 171) (a strong anion exchange resin) and Duolite A 368 plus (DLE 368) (a
weak anion exchange resin) and a nonfunctionalized Duolite S 861 (DLE 861) resin. The maximum
removal capacity was achieved at pH 11. The removal of phenol was found to be in the following
order DLE 171 DLE 368 DLE 861. The mechanism involved in the process was found to be both
adsorption and ion exchange. The resin was characterized using FTIR and SEM with EDAX analysis.
The equilibrium data were fitted to Freundlich isotherm. The kinetics of the sorption was found to
follow pseudo second order and intraparticle diffusion models. The values of thermodynamic
parameters indicate the nature of sorption is spontaneous and exothermic.
Keywords: Removal of Phenol; Polymeric Resins; Duolite A 171; Duolite A 368; Duolite S 171.

Srebrenca Genocide Essay
In 1997, the world witnessed the second most horrific crime in eastern Europe since the Holocaust:
The Srebrenica massacre. Throughout the course of 11 days, over 8,000 Bosniak Bosnian Muslim
males, specifically those who were of age to join the military, were rounded up, and killed by the
Bosnian Serb army. The army s defense for their actions was that they were trying to reunite Serb
territory after the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina became its own state. Despite this claim, the
ICTY still charged Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, two of the men who spearheaded the ethnic
cleansing campaign in Bosnia, with war crimes including genocide. However, scholars debate whether
Srebrenica, albeit horrible, and other instances like itself, being labeled a genocide is a misapplication

As defined by the UN, a genocide is the intentional destruction of a whole or part of a racial, ethnical,

the crime. According to William Schabas, author of Genocide in International Law: The Crime of
Crimes, prosecutors had to stretch the definition of genocide in order to prove that Bosnia Serb leaders
had intentions to eliminate Bosniaks. (M.S, Genocide) Although this may be true, since their reason
was to unify Serb land, we cannot disregard the fact that they used ethnic cleansing to make this
happen, which in turn eliminated Bosniaks from Srebrenica. Is it then morally, and legally right to say
that the ends justify the means in this case, in the sense that it would not be considered a genocide? I
would like to think not, especially with a crime that took the lives of more than 8,000 people and

Capitalism In Death Of A Salesman
The American Death: An Analysis of Death of a Salesman
After World War II, The U.S. entered into a time known as the Golden Age of Capitalism. A major
ideology that developed during this time was the American Dream. According to Merriam Webster,
the American Dream is a happy way of living... that can be achieved by anyone... by working hard and
becoming successful. Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman critiques this ideology through the
outcome of Willy s life and in light of Karl Marx s ideas in Alienation.
One way Miller critiques the American Dream is through Marx s idea of proprietors and propertyless.
Marx states in Alienated Labor that the whole society is divided into two classes of proprietors and
propertyless (171). Throughout the story, the audience learns Willy is part of the propertyless. This is
demonstrated when Willy and Linda have a conversation about the refrigerator. Linda mentions how
they are close to paying it off, but Willy replies that it just broke again (73). In light of Marx, since
Willy is not able to own his refrigerator, he is part of the propertyless. On the other hand, Howard,
Willy s boss, is a proprietor. The way Howard achieves this job is through inheritance. At one point in
the story, Willy asks Howard if he can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

process will just continue with another worker. The workers may believe that they are assets to the
company, but in reality, they replaceable. While the American Dream may seem like a fantasy, it is
ultimately an endless cycle of the exploitation that can never be

Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing
It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything that
had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary
words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods
at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never remember. When it came
down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while I would panic trying to
remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I hear the teacher call the word
island but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of silence. I was frustrated I couldn t
think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on and I wouldn t say anything because I was
too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back and would not be surprised when I found
out that I had failed the test. Week after week this became a recurring theme when I got back my
spelling test. Following this experience I accepted the fact that reading and writing was just (not my
thing).
Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that I
never had with literacy. My teacher would give us a list of words, but instead of us just having to
memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a part of
literacy that I was never familiar with. I had total creative freedom, ( and I took it

The Chrysalids is a Dark Book by John Wyndham
The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is a dark book where the plot, characters and setting are all
influenced by death. The word Chrysalid is a scientific term which refers to the larva that most insects

The Chrysalids leads to death in the lives of Sophie Wender, Aunt Harriet and Joseph Strorm. Firstly,
resulting from prejudice and bigotry Sophie is killed tragically. Since Sophie was born with a mutation

INTRODUCTION
Cholera is a tropical disease that causes critical dehydration. The bacterium, which can be found in
contaminated water or food, produces the toxin that causes unusual fluid secretion (1). Even though
cholera still causes several deaths, about 80% of the cases can be treated with rehydration therapy (2).
In 2013, America had the highest number of cholera cases (Figure 1).
Figure 1: Cholera cases reported to WHO by year and continent 1989 2013 (World Health

a high number of strains described, only the serotypes O139 and O1 can cause cholera (3).

Necrophilia Cults
As defined by the American Heritage Dictionary a cult is 1) a system or community of religious
worship and ritual 2a) a devoted attachment to, or extravagant admiration for, a person, principle, etc.,
especially when regarded as a fad b) the object of such attachment 3) a group of followers; (Aronoff,
2000).
Some of the major features of cults as described by Whitsett et al. include family dynamics within
cults, child abuse, health issues, and moral development. A common/devastating repercussion of cult
participation is losing complete control by subjecting to leadership. Cult leaders are so controlling
they typically curtail and demolish relationships between families when they feel their loyalty is being
threatened. Members of cults are denied independence and all parental authority is diminished. Cults
tear families apart, take children away from their parents, and demand complete control over all of the
members.
An alarming ramification of participating in a cult is that the members are regularly facing feelings of
extreme shame and humiliation, in the community and at home. Children are forced into feelings of
humiliation and parental abandonment so that in turn they search for someone to look up to and
admire, in this case the cult leader. While, the adults within the cult are shamed into feeling less ...

relationship, and Artemisia s independent will. Nevertheless, at times the relationship between Tassi
and Artemisia seems more Hollywood like than realistic, which at times degrades Artemisia s
character by making her seem injudicious.
The acting in the film was especially vigorous, and effective. Actress Valentina Cervi accurately

Censorship Of Women In The Media Research Paper
Large breasts have been the ideal standard of female beauty in American society, especially in media
culture. Although the biological role of female breasts is to provide milk while nursing a newborn,
their sexual role of attracting mates or just exuding sexual appeal in general is more pronounced, and
usually the bigger they are, the more attractive a female looks. Some examples of society glorifying
the voluptuous look include: porn; advertisements; the Victoria s Secret Bombshell Bra (designed to
make your boobs look two sizes larger); production of tighter, body hugging clothing and tops with
plunging necklines (only looks good if you have something to show); movies/TV shows with the trite
cliché of comparing the flat chested, timid nerd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Issues with the inequality between men walking around shirtless and women walking around shirtless,
censorship of female breasts, and the laws of several states banning breast feeding in public spurs the
FreeTheNipple campaign, a movement with a goal to empower women across the world and stop
unfair censorship of the female anatomy. In my opinion, I can see the feminist cause behind this
campaign and how ridiculous it is that breasts have become taboo in society, however I don t think
walking around shirtless to promote the normalcy of breasts will do much of anything because no
matter what breasts will forever be considered sexual and shameful. If a group of shirtless women
walked up my block, I wouldn t be bothered because boobs are boobs, but I know a lot of people who
feel uncomfortable and look away, or even worse start ridiculing the women, because many are
brought up like that; at a young age, we are conditioned to think female breasts should be concealed. I
think the movement is a great cause, but in terms of successfully carrying out it s goals, it s

Explore the Way the Writer Presents the Relationship...
Explore the way the writer presents the relationship between George and Lennie in Of Mice and Men
Of Mice and Men was written in the 1937 by John Steinbeck, he other well know books as the Grapes
of Wrath and East of Eden, h also received a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.
This book is set in the 1930s and set in California, his home region. During this time, the USA was
suffering from a great depression, this meant that it was hard to find job because the economy was
very weak, so to find job the men were disposed to go anywhere and the bosses would exploit their
workers.
The itinerant ranch workers where very lonely people because they had to move from place to place
and tis meant that they could set up a stable life with a wife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The rabbits hurried noiselessly for cover. (Page 4 sound cover) From this we can learn that they will
never achieve their dream of harmony in nature, this is also a foreshadowing device
The readers gain a sense of the reason why the relationship of George and Lennie is important in the
novel, this reason is the way that it conveys the key themes. One of the major contrasts found in this
novel is between loneliness and companionship. George describes how ranch worker are the loneliest
guys in the world (page 15 the world/). This is because they have such a nomadic lifestyle to find jobs
during the different seasons of the year and because of this they are never able to settle down in one
place They got no fambly. They don t belong no place (page 15, they place). George continues saying
and reassuring Lennie many times in the novel that this is not their situation and they have got each
other and we can see this when he says with us it ain t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to
talk to that give a damn about us (page 15, with us about us) and Lennie also add But not us!An why?
Because .... Because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that why (page
15 and 16, but that why) This back up Geroge saying that they are like no other ranch man.
Through the play we can see that Geroge becomes angry at his friend, Lennie, because he is forgetful
and get in to trouble very easily because of his mental disability. In

Computer Programming And Informational Technology
One of the best sources for career information is the U.S. Department of Labor s Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS). According to BLS data, 74 percent of new STEM (science, technology, engineering
and math) jobs through 2022 will be in computing (Hoffman). This information shows that computer
science is a major field, and that it is growing rapidly; However, there are not enough people to fill the
roles in this field. So, in order to understand how computers work and what career paths are associated
with them, It s important to figure out how the hardware works, software works, and then see what
career paths there are in computer programming and informational technology in order to educate
people on what they need to learn for this career. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then information is then sent to the CPU, which has three basic capabilities: to perform basic
mathematical operations, move data from one memory location to another, make decisions to jump
from one instruction to another (Laue). Next, the character is sent to a RAM chip, an integrated circuit
made of millions of pairs of transistors and capacitors that are linked to create a memory cell. These
capacitors and transistors are arranged as a grid, with the columns connected by bitlines and the rows
connected by wordlines. The combination of bitlines and wordlines defines an address for each switch
and capacitor. This also accounts for why this type of memory is called random access: you can access
any memory cell directly if you know its address (Laue). Finally, the letter is sent to the output device,
which includes monitors, printers, modems, ethernet cards, and speakers. Modems are the hardware
device through which most of us were introduced to the Internet. The computer operates exclusively
with Is and Os, with a digital code. By contrast, phone lines work with an analogue signal, an
electronic current with variable frequency and strength. It is the modem s job to demodulate data from
a phone line, to convert the wave to a series of Is and Os, and to modulate the data generated by the
computer, to convert the Is and Os to a continuous wave (Laue). So, the hardware of a computer
works by receiving an input from a keyboard, sending it to the motherboard s

Social Classes In Regency England
Social Classes in Regency England Regency England was very different from the world today. Society
revolved around social classes, which typically correlated with wealth and family ties. There were
many different social classes in the era. The highest class in society was the royal family, consisting of
the king, queen, prince, and princess. The next highest class would be the aristocracy. This would
include dukes, marquesses, earls, viscounts, and barons (Ray 37). Knights and baronets were not
included in this class. They were considered commoners (Ray 38). The gentry was a very wide class.
Land owning males in the gentry, like Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, were called gentlemen (Ray
39; Gao). Ladies were also considered gentry (Ray 12). With all of these different classes, one might
say that social classes played a big factor in Regency England society. The way people lived in
Regency England depended on the class they belonged in. Their estate, their clothes, and their vehicles
were all influenced by their class. In Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy, who was a gentleman, owned the
Pemberley estate (Ray 219; Austen 163). It was a beautiful, large, stone estate on high ground,
surrounded by woods and nature (Austen 163). This showed that Mr. Darcy was clearly upper class.
Since he was upper class, he also dressed the part. He wore tight breeches, ruffled shirts with neck
clothes, and high collared jackets ( Pride and Prejudice, Novels). Owning a personal carriage showed

X Opoly
Case Analysis
X Opoly, Inc.
1 Summary
The text deals with the topic of developing and producing a board game, called X Opoly. The game is
similar to the famous game Monopoly . It was the idea of two students. Their business has grown
rapidly. This year they are expecting that they will sell 50,000 units. Over next 5 years the sales will
grow 25 percent annually.
The order of the game has to be differentiated in ordering a new game and ordering a game, which
was already produced. For every new game one employee of the art department and the client have to
set the design. The required time can vary because it depends on the customer s specification. The
next step is printing. In the printing department the design of the ... Show more content on

= 158,333 units for 19 stations
Capacity per day = Capacity p.a. / 200days = 791,67units for 19 persons
Number of theoretical workstations:
NT = ∑task time / cycle time = 650108 = 6.02 select 7 workstations
The line s maximum capacity amounts to 791.67 units per day assuming that it is operated for 7.5
hours. Assuming that X Opoly operates 200 days per year, the capacity is 58,333 units per year.
Compared with the expected demand the capacity is three times higher than the demand (50,000
units). Therefore there is an overcapacity of more than 100,000. One consequence could be a falling
price and the production of waste. A fall in the price would lead to a decline of the return on
investment as well as the cash flow. That is why it is necessary to use fewer stations in order to save
resources.
In the calculation it can be said that they only 7 stations are needed. With this number of workstations
one could achieve the highest efficiency at this moment. But the company will grow rapidly. Therefore
they had to add new stations every year.
However, the company expects that its sales will grow 25 percent annually for the next five years. As
illustrated in Table 1 the demand after 5 years will be approx.

Abolitionist Movement Research Paper
The Abolitionist Movement was a movement that tried to end slavery in 1830 1870 (Abolitionist
Movement). Many Americans, mainly in the north, sought to emancipate slavery. Some tactics and
help to end racism and slavery included ACS, gradualism, colonization, and abolitionists. In previous
years, some religious groups brought up gradually ending slavery, but in the 1830s abolitionists took it
upon themselves to wipe it out immediately. Out of the reform groups in the 1800s, the movement to
end slavery was the most divisive. Because of the North and South disagreement on slavery, the Civil
War was in the works. The Abolitionist Movement was a revolutionary time in a nation that valued

They group established their own constitution which was based greatly on the U.S Constitution. It said
that each state was independent and guaranteed slavery in Confederate areas. It also banned the import
of slaves from outside countries and protective tariffs. The constitution also limited the president s
terms to only six years. Jefferson Davis, a former senator from Mississippi, was elected president of
the confederate States of America (The American Vision 304 307). The Civil War started because of
Lincoln s plan to resupply Fort Sumter. Davis decided he would capture Fort Sumter before the supply
could reach the area. A note was sent to the fort s commander, Major Robert Anderson, to surrender by
the morning of April 12, 1861 (The American Vision 304 307). Eventually, Confederate forces
attacked the fort for thirty three hours, but killed no one. It stopped when Anderson and his men
surrendered. This was the start of the Civil War. After this invasion, President Lincoln called for
75,000 volunteers to serve in the military for 90 days (The American Vision 304 307). This created a
problem in the Upper South. People did not want to secede but felt that was the only option left.
Virginia left first , followed by Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Lincoln was afraid that
Maryland would secede which would cause Washington to be surrounded by Confederate territory. To
prevent this from happening, he imposed martial law in Baltimore. Martial law could allow the
military to take control, replace civilian authorities, and suspend many civil rights (The American
Vision 304 307). The war lasted for four long, tragic filled years. During these years many events

Jay Gatsby Being Great
The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald, is a portrayal of American society during the Roaring
Twenties and a story of a man who climbs his way up from rags to riches. Jay Gatsby, is a low class
American from the mid west whom is a dreamer and has a goal of becoming successful like any other
American hopes and dreams for. Gatsby begins his life as a typical ordinary, lower class citizen, who
has a goal of fulfilling his dream of soon becoming wealthy. Jay Gatsby is presented within the novel
as being great in several senses such as the way he is perceived, his potential, as well as being
romantic. Although, F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays Jay Gatsby as a lying, thieving, scam artist, Jay
Gatsby throughout the novel receives the title of being great. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Jay Gatsby begins his life in the novel as a typical, low class American whom has a dream of
becoming successful like any other American. As the novel commences, Jay Gatsby is already hinted
as being great. Nick Carraway goes on to say Gatsby, who represented everything for which I have an
unaffected scorn. If personality is an unbroken series of successful gestures, then there was something
gorgeous about him... (Page 2) . Nick is first stating that Gatsby is everything he has ever hated in his
life time but then he goes on to counter that feeling by describing Gatsby as a type of person, everyone
deep within themselves, looks up too. Although no one has truly had a true encounter with Jay Gatsby,
he gives off an impression of being sophisticated as well as successful. When Gatsby was his other
identity of James Gatz, he had a dream of leaving behind his farm and to become part of the upper
class. James Gatz father had hopes that his son will soon become successful and was always great
deep down saying, If he d lived, he d of been a great man. (Page 168). Although, Mr.Gatz hoped for
Jay Gatsby to become great, little did he know that he

  • 2. Questions On Cia And Aaa (6 points) List and define CIA and AAA in your own words. AAA Stands for Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting. The way I could explain it in my words is a service that controls who has access to what, letting someone authenticate themselves, once they are authenticated they can receive authorization to be allowed to change files, depending how high of an authorization level they have, Ex. Admin. The accounting part of AAA is basically just gathering up all the information such as user time online, what they have done, changed, basically anything that happens on a server or a computer network it logs and saves for future use. CIA Stands for Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability. In my own words it is something like this. o Confidentiality (C): It is as simple as it sounds to keep information meant for a certain group of people only for those people. This is done by using usernames and passwords, keeping prying eyes of people who do not belong in that group out. o Integrity (I): It is how secure or trustworthy a source is. Looking at data integrity, the integrity of the data is speaking of is that data is original or it has been changed for malicious intent. It also includes the concepts of origin or source integrity, which looks at if the content, is actually from the source that it is supposed to come from not from another. For example if you are downloading a PDF from Microsoft but it is actually from a different source it can affect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Experience As A Licensed Practical Nurse In part one of this assignment; I discussed my experiences as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I recalled into some of the biggest hurdles I tackled and now I envision the challenges, I may face during the transition. In this paper, I will be further discussing the transition from Licensed practical nurse to Registered nurse. The focus is on the responsibilities of a RN and stages of change in becoming a student once again. As I discussed in my video, there are challenges that I will face in the upcoming year that may make the journey difficult. I mentioned my current nursing experiences but as a RN, those experiences will vary because of the difference in training and accountability. I will outline the differences by elaborating on the scopes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2013. Page 52). In this early stage of nursing development, prospective nursing students take courses within an accredited nursing program to study foundational nursing curricula. During this time, a professional nursing student is able to take knowledge learned within a classroom and begin to apply fundamental practices under the supervision of their instructor. The student is completely reliant on external authority, an experienced knowledgeable teacher who provides the guidance for adequate practical support. Students rely on their instructor for guidance and the right answer to their questions. From my past experience in the LPN program this stage was when we were taking information learned in class and applying it in lab on simulated dummies for practice. The second stage discussed by Cohen is the Negative Independence phase. According to Harrington and Terry (2013), this stage is when the nursing students have more opportunities to apply theory to practice and assumes more responsibility. The student also begins to develop more confidence thus begins to adopt some of the role values and is more willing to question traditional habits and ways of knowing. As a student begins to gain practical knowledge and the self confidence grows, they start to question indiscriminately. They utilize the information gained from the Unilateral Dependence stage and begin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Winnie The Pooh Friendship Theme Winnie The Pooh is a collection of tales about the adventures of Pooh and all his friends. This book is written like a narrative in which the author is the narrator. The collection of chapters do not all go along with one another and can be read separately without any particular order. This book starts off with the story about how Pooh was previously known as Edward Bear until he wanted a new name in which Christopher Robin, his owner, came up with the name Winnie The Pooh. The name Pooh came from a swam Christopher Robin had once before. After Pooh s introduction the book goes on to talk about all the adventures Pooh went on throughout his life. All throughout the book Pooh is never embarking on journeys alone. He is always accompanied by a companion, whether it was Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, or the Rabbit. One of the most prominent relationships was between Pooh and Christopher Robin. At the end of some of the chapters, Christopher Robin is telling the narrator he was going to take a bath. He never manages to leave Pooh behind as he picks him up by the leg, and walked up the stairs trailing Pooh behind him going bump, bump, bump up the stairs (pg. 21 161). Pooh wasn t just any old bear to Christopher Robin. Christopher adored Pooh and treated him as if he was real. He wanted the narrator to re tell these stories for Pooh and tell him about their different adventures. Not only was this evident throughout the story, but also through the illustrations. Each illustration has a scene with Pooh and at least one other character showing their closeness. Children can relate to that one stuffed animal that they took everywhere with them. This is almost like one of the first friendships a child has. Although it is with a stuffed animal, the reader is able to get the sense of how much Pooh means to Christopher. Making and keeping friends is not always easy and in middle school this can be especially difficult. This would be a good lesson to teach them the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece... Male Dishonor as Guilt and Shame in The Rape of Lucrece Inasmuch as a woman s virginity or chastity is imagined as an object that can be owned, rape becomes a property crime, consisting in the theft of a woman s virtue from its rightful owner, her male guardian. Bernice Harris articulates this view with respect to Titus Andronicus: The definition of the word is based on ownership: rape is an appropriate term only if what is taken is not rightfully owned (388). The man who can claim ownership of a woman is subsequently dishonored when she is violated: Honour, then, is a function of ownership (389). While it is tempting to see the Shakespearean concept of rape entirely in such terms, such a view is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By contrast, the pagan humanist tradition, with its pantheon of capricious and often morally suspect gods, upheld a highly public ideal of honor, whereby behavior could be regulated. Whereas guilt can be either private or public, shame is necessarily a public affair. Guilt, as much a theological as ethical construct, requires appropriate punishment, but shame requires simply appropriate action to eliminate its source. Without dwelling on these distinctions, however, Williams argues that in the early modern period these contradictory sets of values operated simultaneously, and it is this tension that informs the often contradictory treatment of rape in such texts as Titus Andronicus and Lucrece. In The Rape of Lucrece this tension is worked out in the portrayals of the two primary male characters. The text is overtly concerned with the question of male honor, and the damage done to it by the act of rape. Contradictory to the predictions of the rape=theft equation, however, it is not only Collatine, the injured husband, who is depicted as dishonored by the crime. Rather than as a conquering hero, the rapist Tarquin is himself depicted as dishonored by his crime. The different forms of dishonor incurred by the two men, I will argue, result from the judgments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Are Xerxes Attitudes Towards The Spartans Primary Source Essay #1 Today when people talk about the Spartans they think about the movie 300 that was created that shows 300 Spartan warriors facing Xerxes army of 150,000 men. What they do not know are the actual real accounts that happened during the time of this particular Persian invasion. When Herodotus wrote the Histories he mentions this battle in great detail. His thirst for knowledge gives us a better perspective of Spartans and Persians since his writings have lasted since they were written. In the Histories Herodotus gives pure examples of Xerxes attitudes towards the Greeks along with his superstitious and tyrannical behavior. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Xerxes sent his men through the hidden path around the mountain Leonidas still stood his ground with his Spartans even though he allowed most of the troops to return home. This shows in Spartan culture a man would rather die in battle than run and be dishonored. Leonidas was superstitious about the oracle that determined a king shall fall from Sparta or Sparta itself will be destroyed. The people of Sparta must have had much intelligence to understand how to create this choke point of the other army. Many of the different battles even after Thermopylae show that the Spartans were versatile toward warfare. Honor is shown throughout this narrative. Demaratus warns Xerxes about facing the Greeks in battle and talks about the men being free. No matter what number of enemies they face to either conquer them or die trying. This not only shows how they seek honor but what was valued in their society. The incident does not really matter whether it is natural or manmade disaster/incident but if an incident occurs, it can have a disastrous effect causing the company operation to become unstable and having the inability to contain or control its impact can halt the business routine (Vacca, 2013). Summary Of Thirty-Eight Who Saw Murder Didn T Call The Police In the essay Thirty Eight who saw Murder didn t call the Police , Martin Gansberg describes how selfish and inconsiderable some people can be. He claims that society should be more involved in taking action when seeing violent or life threatening events occurring in their communities. Gansberg strongly supports the fact that people should have taken immediate action when they saw the murder s attempt to killing Miss Genovese, the victim. He also supports this claim by giving feedback from different authority figures. Oil spills are usually associated with environmental disasters; because of this the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 and related policies have inadequate amount of tools that will help humans deal with these accidents. When the Macondo blow out happened, we had to assess the impact that it also had on human health, mental and physical because it had affected a large area. The Macondo spill unfortunately happened less than five years after Hurricane Katrina damaged Louisiana and Mississippi coast. Clearly, a lesson that was learnt from the oil spill was that the nation wasn t prepared for widespread, poor effects on human health and mental well being. Most of the communities along the Gulf had resided there for the majority of their lives or at least 20 years; this oil spill had worried the residents about payments, money issues, and the stability of their communities, which in turn affected their health. From what happened during Hurricane Katrina and now the oil spill, speakers Sharon Gauthe and Gracie Scire are really trying to stress the importance of the need for additional community mental health services. The citizens are trying to cope with physical ailments and stress and even though the health agencies issued personal protective equipment guidelines for response workers and created a registry of these newly trained personnel, they missed the crucial window for screening their baseline physical health before the workers were directly exposed to oil products; Industry and ... From her childhood to her teenage years, Vera was always used for something her older cousins did not want to do. So she taught herself well and now used it on Mr. Nuttel. Now you may be asking yourselves, What did her older cousins make her do to become so smart? Well, in the next three paragraphs, I am going to go back in time to Vera s adolescent years and tell you. The first story is back when Vera was just 5 years of age. One of the boys had decided to play a little trick on her. There is a horrid beast underneath the house and my mother wants to get it out . She was terrified and told him to do it himself but he said, I am too large to fit through the little opening Vera, just do it! . So she gathered up all her courage and crawled her way through the opening. It was very dark and damp under there. There were cobwebs galore and she could here the soft squeaks of mice and just a slight drip of water every so often. She gulped and let out a shaky breath and continued crawling. The penultimate paragraph, which addresses the question of why you want and need to study in the US is quite vague. The argument that U.S. education is great is rather general (and not true _in general_). If you specified that program you want to enroll in and why, you might have something more concrete and meaningful to say. Your final paragraph deals with what you intend to do on your return to Georgia. This paragraph is a little bit clearer, but not by much. It would be a good idea to specify what you mean by the management system, especially if you mean something, as you apparently do, that is applicable to both government and the private sector. The essay says next to nothing about democratic development, but knowing nothing about the program for which you are applying, I ve no idea how important that is. The method he used to establish someone s wisdom or lack of it has been known as the Socratic dialectic. Socrates dialectic technique, its aim and its method will be examined in this paper. The Apology of Socrates by Plato, will be used as a case study to illustrate key points. Belief in a purely objective understanding of such concepts as justice, love, and virtue, and the self knowledge that he encouraged, were the basis of his teachings. He believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad; correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Socrates was not a believer in any specific metaphysical point of view, but he believed that he was appointed by God to examine himself and others in order to discover who they really are. Thus, he claimed that the highest goodness consists in the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral understanding. Wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the individual and to the state . (Plato, p 62). As previously stated, Socrates dialectic aims to determine whether an individual makes justifiable claims to knowledge by using the method of cross examination in order to draw out a contradiction or inconsistency in their claims. However, this is not the only aim of dialectic. The Socratic method is also a means of conversing, developing a dialogue that aims to bring awareness to person s ignorance of a subject. China s consumption of soybeans ballooned by more than 160% between 2000 and 2011 when import barriers were removed, but the area planted with soybeans declined by 20% during those same years. Chinese farmers were simply unable to compete with imported soybeans that were RMB 300 to 600 (US$45 90) cheaper per ton than domestic beans. Imported soybeans now account for three quarters of the soybeans processed into cooking oil and feed in China, the products of soybean crushing. If China is able to prove that domestic soybean producers are not able to survive because of low cost imports from Brazil, the WTO ruling would be in favor of China and such measures would be upheld. However Descartes does see that even though his senses can deceive him that doesn t mean that his senses aren t altogether a deception themselves. His mind cannot create something that he himself has never felt, heard, seen, smelled, or tasted before, the mind creates what it has encountered before and sometimes even if you haven t encountered a specific situation or sensation the mind will at least compare it to something of similar sensation. So, for this Descartes knows that his senses have the ability to deceive him but that when they do deceive him they are using real reference points. With the false sensory perceptions in mind, Descartes believes of this idea that an evil demon exist to solely try and deceive him using his senses. • 32. Capitalism In Death Of A Salesman The American Death: An Analysis of Death of a Salesman After World War II, The U.S. entered into a time known as the Golden Age of Capitalism. A major ideology that developed during this time was the American Dream. According to Merriam Webster, the American Dream is a happy way of living... that can be achieved by anyone... by working hard and becoming successful. Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman critiques this ideology through the outcome of Willy s life and in light of Karl Marx s ideas in Alienation. One way Miller critiques the American Dream is through Marx s idea of proprietors and propertyless. Marx states in Alienated Labor that the whole society is divided into two classes of proprietors and propertyless (171). Throughout the story, the audience learns Willy is part of the propertyless. This is demonstrated when Willy and Linda have a conversation about the refrigerator. Linda mentions how they are close to paying it off, but Willy replies that it just broke again (73). In light of Marx, since Willy is not able to own his refrigerator, he is part of the propertyless. On the other hand, Howard, Willy s boss, is a proprietor. The way Howard achieves this job is through inheritance. At one point in the story, Willy asks Howard if he can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 33. Reflective Essay On Reading And Writing It was my second grade year and I was only 7 years old when I first found my hatred for anything that had to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods at a time trying to memorize these gruesome lists of words that I could never remember. When it came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease while I would panic trying to remember what I studied. When it finally came time to take the test I hear the teacher call the word island but the only thing I could hear was noise In a room full of silence. I was frustrated I couldn t think, the teacher would ask is everyone ready to move on and I wouldn t say anything because I was too shy. After a couple of days I would get my score back and would not be surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Week after week this became a recurring theme when I got back my spelling test. Following this experience I accepted the fact that reading and writing was just (not my thing). Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher would give us a list of words, but instead of us just having to memorize them. We would have to create a story using these words. This opened my eyes to a part of literacy that I was never familiar with. I had total creative freedom, ( and I took it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Chrysalids is a Dark Book by John Wyndham The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is a dark book where the plot, characters and setting are all influenced by death. The word Chrysalid is a scientific term which refers to the larva that most insects pass through before becoming adults. John Wyndham metaphorically compares this definition to the story by comparing this process to humans. He is saying that the state humans were in before Tribulation was a baby state and now they are maturing into adults. It does not come at an easy price; sacrifice and death affect the process of change. The influence of prejudice and bigotry throughout The Chrysalids leads to death in the lives of Sophie Wender, Aunt Harriet and Joseph Strorm. Firstly, resulting from prejudice and bigotry Sophie is killed tragically. Since Sophie was born with a mutation (a sixth toe) the community of Waknuk s views towards Sophie s extra toe force Sophie and her family to flee to the Fringes. The Fringes is a dry wasteland where all deviations (mutations) are sent to die upon their discovery. After Sophie and her family fled; the inspector a man who monitors mutations speaks to David about Sophie s toe, telling David the seriousness of the situation. Not reporting a human deviation is a very, very serious thing. People go to prison for it. (51). Being pushed to the Fringes because of prejudice and bigotry brings Sophie one step closer to her own demise. AMINO ACID SEQUENCE ANALYSIS OF THE SUBUNIT B FROM CHOLERA TOXIN PRODUCED BY Vibrio cholerae O139 CELIO CABRAL OLIVEIRA NUCLEOTIDE SEQUENCE ANALYSIS RUTGERS UNIVERSITY FALL 2014 INTRODUCTION Cholera is a tropical disease that causes critical dehydration. The bacterium, which can be found in contaminated water or food, produces the toxin that causes unusual fluid secretion (1). Even though cholera still causes several deaths, about 80% of the cases can be treated with rehydration therapy (2). In 2013, America had the highest number of cholera cases (Figure 1). Figure 1: Cholera cases reported to WHO by year and continent 1989 2013 (World Health Organization, 2014) The causal agent of cholera is called Vibrio cholerae (Figure 2), which is a Gram negative bacillus from the genus Vibrionaceae. The bacterium moves by a polar flagellum. Even with a high number of strains described, only the serotypes O139 and O1 can cause cholera (3). Figure 2: Vibrio cholerae (Kirn et al, 2000) The cholera toxin (also called choleragen) is a protein that activates adenylate cyclase. Being an enterotoxin, this protein affects the membrane permeability of intestinal wall cells (4). The protein was first purified in 1969 and it is composed by two types of subunits, with one being the binding type of subunit (B) and other being the toxic active type of subunit (A) (5). Necrophilia Cults As defined by the American Heritage Dictionary a cult is 1) a system or community of religious worship and ritual 2a) a devoted attachment to, or extravagant admiration for, a person, principle, etc., especially when regarded as a fad b) the object of such attachment 3) a group of followers; (Aronoff, 2000). Some of the major features of cults as described by Whitsett et al. include family dynamics within cults, child abuse, health issues, and moral development. A common/devastating repercussion of cult participation is losing complete control by subjecting to leadership. Cult leaders are so controlling they typically curtail and demolish relationships between families when they feel their loyalty is being threatened. Members of cults are denied independence and all parental authority is diminished. Cults tear families apart, take children away from their parents, and demand complete control over all of the members. An alarming ramification of participating in a cult is that the members are regularly facing feelings of extreme shame and humiliation, in the community and at home. Children are forced into feelings of humiliation and parental abandonment so that in turn they search for someone to look up to and admire, in this case the cult leader. Although the biological role of female breasts is to provide milk while nursing a newborn, their sexual role of attracting mates or just exuding sexual appeal in general is more pronounced, and usually the bigger they are, the more attractive a female looks. Some examples of society glorifying the voluptuous look include: porn; advertisements; the Victoria s Secret Bombshell Bra (designed to make your boobs look two sizes larger); production of tighter, body hugging clothing and tops with plunging necklines (only looks good if you have something to show); movies/TV shows with the trite cliché of comparing the flat chested, timid nerd ... In my opinion, I can see the feminist cause behind this campaign and how ridiculous it is that breasts have become taboo in society, however I don t think walking around shirtless to promote the normalcy of breasts will do much of anything because no matter what breasts will forever be considered sexual and shameful. If a group of shirtless women walked up my block, I wouldn t be bothered because boobs are boobs, but I know a lot of people who feel uncomfortable and look away, or even worse start ridiculing the women, because many are brought up like that; at a young age, we are conditioned to think female breasts should be concealed. Next, the character is sent to a RAM chip, an integrated circuit made of millions of pairs of transistors and capacitors that are linked to create a memory cell. These capacitors and transistors are arranged as a grid, with the columns connected by bitlines and the rows connected by wordlines. The combination of bitlines and wordlines defines an address for each switch and capacitor. This also accounts for why this type of memory is called random access: you can access any memory cell directly if you know its address (Laue). • 44. Social Classes In Regency England Social Classes in Regency England Regency England was very different from the world today. Society revolved around social classes, which typically correlated with wealth and family ties. There were many different social classes in the era. The highest class in society was the royal family, consisting of the king, queen, prince, and princess. The next highest class would be the aristocracy. This would include dukes, marquesses, earls, viscounts, and barons (Ray 37). Knights and baronets were not included in this class. They were considered commoners (Ray 38). The gentry was a very wide class. Land owning males in the gentry, like Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, were called gentlemen (Ray 39; Gao). Ladies were also considered gentry (Ray 12). With all of these different classes, one might say that social classes played a big factor in Regency England society. The way people lived in Regency England depended on the class they belonged in. Their estate, their clothes, and their vehicles were all influenced by their class. In Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy, who was a gentleman, owned the Pemberley estate (Ray 219; Austen 163). It was a beautiful, large, stone estate on high ground, surrounded by woods and nature (Austen 163). This showed that Mr. Darcy was clearly upper class.
