Connection between study and practice. All my knowledge in service marketing and sales were very
helpful and useful during my internship. They bring me a lot of new ideas to be focus on what I m
doing and what to expect from me. Particularly during my MiBA studies I loved to read marketing
reports, they are all very useful to have a global vision to marketing strategies of the company. During
my internship I saw how the marketing chief plans this report with a new form of planning that
actually it s use by programmers, it s call Planning Poker , this game should force people to think
independently and to avoid the influence of the other participants. That was something innovating for
me. Working Routine. My working routine began with some lessons of sales force. Learning Sales
Force was quite an experience as the company use this CRM system to automate all sales procedures
such as mass mail for all leads, creation of itineraries, tracking leads activities with html codes scripts
on our mails signatures, and even making a whole travel plane for internal needs (internal reports,
costs, products to add) and beautiful templates for final costumers. This study took about 3 4 hours per
day. Then, I checked my email from Gmail, and also I have an email application from Mac, which
contains 5 other email accounts for all mail accounts I had for the company. Then I open up Facebook
and Hootsuite to check my social networking updates.

Swing Music And The Popularity Of Swing Music
Swing band arrangements were in large part composed, often of simple, repeated material, or riffs,
that alternated between contrapuntal lines and intense unison rhythms. Improvisation also had a
featured role, and soloists would play while the rest of the band, aside from the rhythm section,
dropped out or played arranged background lines.
POPULARITY OF SWING MUSIC
One explanation for swing music s popularity is that its driving intensity and abandon represented
pleasure and freedom in a time when the country was steeped in hard times. The Great Depression
caused Americans to suffer, and dancing to swing music was a way for people to forget their worries.
Swing music featured a section of three or four trumpeters, three or four trombonist, five saxophonists
who often doubled on clarinets, a piano, a bassist instead of a tuba player, a guitarist, and a drummer.
During the 1930s, swing came to symbolize joy and ease, the weight of which was reflected in Duke
Ellington s piece, It Don t Mean a Thing (If It Ain t Got That Swing).

Land Of Fish Analysis
The civilization, Land of Fish, is based off a Japanese themed civilization that is located in coastal
China at c. 500 600 CE. The civilization borrows from Japan, China, Athens, and Rome, and is a
syncretic blend of language, art, architecture, writing, religion, and government of the aforementioned
civilizations with a unique social structure. The location of the Land of Fish is found in southern
coastal China. The location helps sustain the civilization as the people are able to benefit from food
and resources from the sea. The coastal region allows the civilization to trade with sea based materials
and seafood. The civilization faces the East China Sea, and is also located near the Yellow River and
the Yangtze River, with both rivers used as a water and food source. Though the Land of Fish does
have farms on the outskirts, the economy is largely based off the sea. The ports of the civilization are
widely accessible to other civilizations, bringing in trade and new goods. In the civilization, the main
marketplace is in the center of the Land of Fish, the central location allowing accessibility for
anybody. Some marketplaces are also found scattered throughout the part of the civilization where the
middle class and merchants are located, near the coast. More inland, near the farms, the peasants are
located separate from majority of the middle class and high class. The elite and high class are found in
a separate part of the civilization, near the government buildings,

The Competitive Advantages Zappos
Introduction
This article is a discussion about the competitive advantages Zappos has, using resource based view
and dynamic capabilities analysis. Although there are SWOT framework and Porter s five forces
model etc. to understand the firm s competitive advantage, those are environmental analysis, which is
only the half story as Barney,(1995) suggested. So, an analysis of a firm s internal strengths and
weaknesses is required. Barney (2001) states resource based logic can help managers more completely
understand the kind of resources that help generate sustained strategic advantages, help them use this
understanding to evaluate the full range of resources their firm may possess, and then exploit those
resources that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But market is dynamic, during these 10 years, more and more shopping websites are established, since
if a firm hands competitive advantage, others will always attempt to imitate it, although Zappos is still
running smoothly, the same capability, may not pass the VRIO test. On the other hand, from he view
of dynamic capability, zappos operation model was to provide exceptional product selection by padre
rim with shoe companies, then it changed, all shipments were from its own inventory, (Z,10) because
the old model lacks of accuracy and had unreliable information updates. Undeniably, one of Zappos
competence is their distribution system, Zappos noticed that there should be some changes, not only
the shipping model, also include the allocation of ground delivery, ship delivery and air delivery, or
the facilitating of automatic machines, as time goes by, Zappos is always updating this competency.
Dynamic capability can be seen as a critique of RBV, There is also literature suggesting, that DC is
outcome of RBV, Dynamic capability is defined as capabilities that endow firms with competitive
advantage in changing environments. Both capabilities and DC are organization . A DC is the VRIO s
O . To be a source of competitive advantage it must be VRI. So dynamic capability can be seen as a
firm integrate its valuable, rare and costly imitated resources over times. From this perspective, when
we analyze Zappos distribution competency, we can also say that Zappos is organizing its distributing
resource and equipping it in order to be responsive to address the changes taking place in the
environment. (Zolo and Winter,

The City Harmonic Essay
The City Harmonic: The band uniting the Church through music
By Jessica Morris
The City Harmonic is not your average church worship band. For one, the four members based in
Hamilton, Ontario attend different churches. This then, is why their commitment to expressing unity
and crossing denominational boundaries is so prominent on their album WE ARE.
We ve always felt like we re a little bit different than the typical model of a worship band and have
always sensed that our roots in a cross denominational movement of church unity has shaped us in
very profound ways. Shares bass player Eric Fusilier.

The Glass Menagerie Pressure
The pressures of society in The Glass Menagerie push Laura Wingfield to be a shy girl who does not
have any contact with the outside world. Laura s biggest flaw, her slight limp, cause her to shut out the
world and become a hermit. Amanda, her mother, pushes her to go to college and find a man whom
will take care of her. However, Laura s insecurities kick in and she just about throws up during her
first speed test in college, which shows just how serious her situation is. Her personality shines
through her glass animals, whom she cares for with great tenderness. Laura has withdrawn from the
real world and gone into a make believe world which she creates from her set of glass menagerie.
Laura is a very shy, sensitive person who is very fragile. Society in The Glass Menagerie wants her to
go to business college, find a gentlemen caller, and not be so fragile. However, she has become so shy
and vulnerable that she has forgotten almost completely about the real responsibilities of life. When
Laura s high school crush, Jim O Connor, comes to Laura s house for dinner she escapes her make
believe world. Laura s make believe world is characterized by I haven t heard any arguments among
them! (Williams 122). Laura imagines her glass menagerie to be real which comes to show how ...

The Safety Regulations Of The Automobile Industry
Now days the automobile industry has to bind to a large list of government regulations. While some
may just be focusing on the driver comfort and avoiding unnecessary distraction, the government has
safety regulations which have to be strictly imposed on every vehicle. Within these safety regulations,
there is The Clean Air Act; an act to improve, strengthens, and accelerates programs for the prevention
and abatement of air pollution. But we always had criminals breaking the rules of society. VW

It is just not in the best interest of any professional/engineer, nobody want to go to jail. It is clear that
there was some sort of pressure imposed by top executive of this company on these workers. The
company saw an opportunity since there is only a few diesel cars on the road. By introducing diesel
powered cars that offer better mpg than gasoline powered vehicles, they knew, they were going to

It was irresponsible to use the ECM, which was designed in part to monitor the emissions system

Prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) involves muscles, nerves and tendons. Work related MSDs

Concepts Of Love In George s Babbitt
These concepts of love can also be seen in other works of the time. In Babbitt, George has a few
affairs with varying success throughout the novel. His first attempt at having an affair was with Ida, a
young manicurist. After a dinner of awkward conversation, she, rather mechanically, returned the
favor with a kiss. As described by Lewis, from the standpoint of Miss Ida Putiak, [Babbitt was] an old
bore who had to be endured as the penalty attached to eating a large dinner (242). Here one can begin
to see a clearer picture of love itself as a consumable commodity, pursued for the same reasons as
purchasing a new good the instant gratification that can easily be replicated over and over again with
new relationships and things. In these highly consumer driven cases, love and affection are
demonstrated through material possession, and then when selecting a partner, one must go for the
most luxurious option. Because of this, companionship can often be left for only those with the most
wealth and possession. Just as happiness and love were perceived to be commodities that could be
purchased in the 1920s, so was companionship of any nature. This follows the reason of the era
though. If one chose one s lover on the basis of luxury goods, then it is only logical that one would
also choose friends and spouses this way. In Babbitt, he often complained about his wife and her
simple mindedness. He hated it when she mended her stockings instead of replacing them, or when

Looking For Alibrandi Theme Essay
The only journey is the one within. (Rainer Maria Rilke) Why do teenagers love novels on the
adolescent mind or the coming of age story or an individual finding their way you may ask? The only
thing in common in all these different themes is relatability to every one of those teenagers. Looking
for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta the recipient of The Children s Book of the Year and the Bilby

How do I get there? Her inquisition are the questions that all teenagers ask in their journey to find

Being wealthy comes with many privileges that are often taken for granted. For example, children
born into a higher economic class are exposed to exceptional schools, job opportunities, and luxuries
of life that lower class citizens and minority groups only dream of having. Opportunities such as these
may seem harmless and even beneficial on the surface, but having a constant upper hand on things can
lead to a false sense of power and entitlement. People of wealth can often buy their way out of

The Effects Of Leadership Style On Organizational Performance
Leadership style in an organization is one of the reasons that play a major role in attracting or hold
back the commitment and interest of the individuals in the business. Therefore a manager needs to
determine his leadership style, as it is one with the most energetic effects during individual and
organizational relations.
Different researches:
Leadership style has a considerable relation with the organizational performance, and different
leadership styles may have a positive or negative link with the organizational performance. A research
was done by Sun(2002) compared the leadership style with the leadership performance in enterprises

The story of the European invasions conducted by Adolf Hitler is a story of a deep animosity towards
Russian civilization by Hitler. During World War II, much of Europe fell under Nazi German control
this was all a strategy conjured by the German chancellor in order to strengthen the German Empire
enough to invade their only real military threat, Russia. This embedded hatred of the aggregate
Russian society was the catalyzing factor that led to German occupation of much of Europe. World

The Perfection Of Anorexia Nervosa
The life of a young girl taken by the pressures to be perfect happens all too often in today s society. It
is not uncommon for a teen girl to diet, purge, or even stop eating all together to achieve the standards
of beauty that the world has forced upon her. Most of the time these pressures cannot be escaped
because they are pushed onto a girl from the time she is born and sometimes she does not even realize
the brainwashing. There is too much pressure put on girls to have a perfect body because it is
impossible to be perfect, girls are developing eating disorders, and being imperfect is resulting in
bullying and peer pressure. Everyone has his or her own idea of perfection and to form a body to

As many as one in every six females who have anorexia may die from it, this is the highest mortality
rate of any psychiatric disorder (Kalodner). There are two types of anorexia known as restricting and
binge eating/purging, restricting anorexia is characterized by a girl avoiding food and over exercising,
during the binge eating and purging cycle a girl will over eat then cause themselves to vomit or use the
bathroom more by sticking objects in their throat to vomit or misusing laxatives, diuretics, or enemas.
Most people see the binge eating and purging cycle as bulimia but that is false, if a person is of low
weight has not had a menstrual cycle in three months, she meets the criteria for anorexia (Kalodner).
Bulimia Nervosa better known as bulimia can be identified by recurrent episodes of binge eating,
inappropriate ways to prevent weight gain, binge eating and weight gain prevention occur regularly,
self evaluation of body size and shape, and it does not occur exclusively. Bulimia is usually caused by

Cain Rosetta Quotes
Cain got down beside Rosetta. Are you all right? When she looked up at him, he saw that she had tears
in her eyes. (White, 1456)This quote shows how long of a journey it has been. With al, the ups and
downs finally getting getting to the end when Rosetta kills Eberly. This could of not of happened with
out Cain he is the main reason why Rosetta was able to get to this point. Throughout the play Cain has
done many good actions including which that have saved life s. Cain throughout the play also had do
many courageous actions that people are not used to in everyday life. While all of these scenarios are
going on he has the ability to make the right decision. Which is ultimately why him and Rosetta are

When we first meet Cain he is hung over, and is gambling. We get the impression that he is a
alcoholic. These treats that we first came across are not to honorable. While I was reading this I was
very confused why Cain was so concerned with honor and pride, coming from the man who is a
alcoholic. As the story progresses we can see that Cain really does because that person that we meet in
the beginning of the book. The first thing that comes to my mind to think Cain is a honorable person is
when he stood up to preacher. This was very honorable of him to go face to face with antagonist of the
story. What made this act even more honorable was that he stood up for someone that has different
skin color then him which was unheard of to do. On their journey Cain comes across Mary s house, he
finds three wishes for him to do. The first one was take care of Rosetta, the second one was make sure
you give the money to Rosetta, and lastly bury her and her husbands grave. When Cain does these
actions you can tell that Cain is a man of his word and only honor comes with that. It takes a lot of
dignity to bury someone and give money to a black runaway slave at the time. He also chooses not to
bring back Rosetta which is very important in the book. This means that he is taking someone else s
problems and putting them on himself. It takes a lot of dignity to that for someone who has a lot of
troubles never mind a black

Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion
Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In
many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the
trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose
again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from
Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also
have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first
difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries
that are richly decorated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to
Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation
by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the
partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members
are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided
over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ
during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect.
Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required
to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved
for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months
or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member
designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to
Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body
and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The

Being On The Trail Of Tears
Have you ever wondered how it feels to be on the trail of tears? Well it s horrible. Being on the trail of
tears is like going to war. Before the trail of tears it was amazing, during the trail of tears it was
abominable, and then after it was even worse. I was sent on the trail of tears. Before the trail of tears
my family and I were happy and my fellow cherokee had their land in Georgia. We were very
organized and civilized, meaning that we had our own Constitution, we had Christianity, we have
agriculture, and we wore european clothing. We also knew how to farm! There were so many pluses to
living on the land in Georgia.
We were forced to move to Indian territory above texas. Why we were forced to move is because the

Levels Of Communication In Relationship Analysis
1. I learned that there are different levels of communication in relationship, and while it seemed very
obvious that there would be different levels, it was never something I thought about. The levels go
from least confidential to most confidential. The order of the levels from least to most are:
biographical data, superficial preferences, goals/aspirations, religious beliefs and convictions, deeply
personal and private fears/fantasies/desires/past experiences, and the most confidential of them all is
your inner self concept (Hock, 2016). This has impacted my relationships because it opened my eyes
to who I m closest to and who I m not as close as I thought I was. For the relationships that I wanted to
be closer with, I started to be more open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My personal sexual philosophy is based primarily on my morals and beliefs. I think that sex should
remain between two committed people, and I don t think the world should be included in your sex life.
I believe that sex is not an activity that should be taken for granted; I think it s something you should
cherish with the person you love. I could probably be considered someone who is very old school
because I think sex should not be an activity that you share with everyone, but that s a part of my
sexual philosophy. My attitude about sex is very positive until it becomes something that s not special,
AKA with someone whom I don t love. I ve already stated this, but my preference regarding sex is for
it to be between two people who love each other. For me, it would be with the person whom I love and
can see myself with in the future. I also prefer it to be private because then it is something very
personal between me and the person I love. My idea of a healthy and fulfilling romantic relationship is
one in which we both can be completely open and honest with each other. A relationship in which we
both are open to trying new things and one that is not revolving around sex. This is my idea of a
healthy and fulfilling romantic relationship because it allows for us fully appreciate one another for
things that are different than sex. My sexual behaviors remain in my relationship with my boyfriend. I
try to be open to people who identify themselves differently regarding their sexual and gender identity.
I personally identify as a women who is romantically, emotionally, sexually, and physically attracted
to men. I think I will know I m feeling lust rather than love when I want to be with a person only for
sex. I ll be aware if it s lust if I d rather not spend time with a person if I know there will be nothing
physical or sexual going on. I know I m in love when I m happy spending time with my boyfriend and
not doing anything special. When I can share information

Erase Racism By Kool G. Rap DJ Polo
Analysis of Song Lyrics in relation to a Sociological Concepts: A quick look at the lyrics of Erase
Racism by Kool G. Rap DJ Polo in relation to Racism and Ethnicity Long before the 90s, race and
ethnicity have been a controversial issue all over the world, particularly in the United States. In
sociology, the concepts of race and ethnicity is connected to the concept of minority and majority
groups, with the social structures of stratification, power, and of course inequality. Race is a term that
describes the physical differences that are considered socially critical to cultures and groups, while
ethnicity is a term that describes the shared culture, like beliefs, language, practices, and ancestry.
Agitation for equality has been seen in the music world, particularly among the blacks in the United
States, the majority of black musical artistes have written songs relating to how black lives matter.

Heat By Mike Lupa Summary
The book I read this month is called Heat. The author Mike Lupica did a really good job writing this
story. Heat is about a boy named Mike and his brother Carlos, and how they find their way to live
without any parents. Mike is probably the best pitcher on the Clippers, and in the league. Then a kid
named Justin s dad, the coach of the Giants had it out to get him out of the league. Just to help his
team make it to the Little League World Series. Mike just dealt with it for a while, until he got back in
the league, and got to pitch in the series.
To my Miguelito, he said. May the next time we are all together be on the day when he pitches himself
and his proud papi to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. (Lupica ... Show

This choice impacted the book by letting you read it in Mike s shoes. He also let you feel how Mike
felt. Because if you close your eyes you can picture every bit off the book because of all the sensory
details Mike Lupica used. For instance when Mike was the third base coach he called the fake bunt,
and told the kid to swing Mike Lupica wrote Wham!!! That made me feel like I was there and could
hear the sound of the ball being whaled off of the bat. That is just one example out of the rest of the
really good details Mike Lupica used in the book. I recommend this book to someone that likes
baseball or somebody that likes to read about sports. I chose this recommendation because the book is
about baseball. Also somebody that likes lovey dovey books won t like this book. I said this because
this has nothing even remotely close to this. I rate this book a 10 out of 10. My reason for choosing the
rate I did was that this was a great book. Heat was the best book I have ever read. I think I liked it a lot
because it was about baseball, and I love everything about baseball. Mike Lupica used so many
details, and it made me just want to keep reading. He also used so many hooks during the book, and I
got to the point where I couldn t put the book down. I liked the book the most during the second

Why Is Herbert Hoover Bad
Herbert Hoover was one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th Century. Throughout WWI he was
hailed as an uncommon man liked by many. Hoover became the Secretary of Commerce 1921 1928
and the 31st President of the US. However, he was hated for not having a big enough role in the Great
Depression and he was blamed for the increasing the poverty of Americans even though the pieces had
already been set. While Hoover did do some things wrong in his time he always had the right meaning
and his good intentions weren t understood. Hoover did the best he could and did more than any other
president before him to end the Depression. As a child Hoover was orphaned at 9 when his parents

Bpa Research Paper
An Investigation of BPA BPA is an industrial chemical used to make plastics. BPA stands for
bisphenol A. BPA Is used in a wide assortment of products from packaged food to dishes. FDA
approved BPA for use in the 1960s.1 The effect of BPA on human health has been highly disputed by
FDA and scientists. It is estimated that over 90% of the United States populous is exposed to BPA on a
daily basis (Brennen, 2017). To fully understand the ramifications of this chemical an examination of
research is required. BPA is a primary building block in most plastics, specifically polycarbonate
plastics, which are a durable lightweight plastic, resistant to melting .(Carwhile, 2010) BPA was

In fetal mouse prostate you can stimulate receptors with estradiol at about two tenths of a part per
trillion, and with BPA at a thousand times higher, vom Saal says. That s still 10 times lower than what
a six year old has. Mice with the same amount of BPA measured in urine the later developed cancer
and other health issues. There s also evidence from the journal of reproductive doxology that found
that humans must be exposed to levels of BPA at least 10 times what EPA has deemed safe because of
the amount of chemical detected in tissues and blood samples. In 1997 Japan began to use other
natural resin instead of BPA after their scientists show the leaching of BPA into baby bottles. They did
point out though that some of these same studies have shown that other foods we eat containing
estrogen like chemicals including some soy products have shown similar effects.(biello,2008) One of
the reasons for our quick excretion of BPA is our body turns it into glucuronide, and it is excreted
through feces and not urine, which is why the amount of BPA in urine indicates far higher exposure
than the actual amount in the urine. Also most is excreted within 6 hours and almost most all by 24
hours.(Carwhile, 2010) There is also studies that indicate that BPA in women can act like estrogen in
the body which increases the risk of breast cancer and cancer cell growth. (biello,2008) It s also been
linked through animal studies to cardiovascular disease and diabetes, early onset of sexual maturity,
problems with development of tissue organization of the mammary gland, reproductive tract lesions,
increase prostate size, and decrease sperm production in offspring.(Carwhile, 2010) Even short
periods of exposure can cause infertility in female

My Birthday Monologue
Hey, Eva, John s voice sings down my phone. Do you have plans tonight?
Just having a quiet night in. Since Alice is at work, I get the remote all to myself.
A little bird told me it was your birthday yesterday, so Patsy and I would like to take you to the
movies.
Sure, what time?
Seven sound okay to you? We re going to the dollar theatre since we re both broke.
Sounds like me. I have a little cash in my purse, should be enough for a ticket at least.
Leave your money at home, this is our treat.
I chew on my lip. When will people get it? I don t like birthdays, and I don t like gifts. A heavy sigh
escapes my lips as I recall Patsy s discontentment over my secrecy for my birthday. Reluctantly, I say,

my feet pause as my eyes gawk at the beautiful, Vista blue Shelby Mustang with white stripes, a car I

stuffing my gloved hands into my jacket pockets. The wind has intensified since leaving the apartment
and now howls around my ears, tousling my hair. Yet I stand, staring at the car nevertheless. Why
would Angelo be in this part of the town?
Before retrieving my phone, I remove my glove and call Alice, who answers after three rings. Hey,
babe, what s up?
I drag my hair from my face while retaining my gaze on the Shelby. I m heading down to the cinema
to meet Patsy and John.
Oh, nice. That should keep you out of trouble for a while.
If you re not busy, I thought you could join us.
Not tonight, sorry.
Are you at work still? Sounds like you have music playing in the background.
No, I m out with a friend right now.
Yeah, friend, she says. I know she s with Angelo right now, I m looking at his car. The clattering of
glasses in the background and the sound of people talking filters through the phone. Are you at a bar
or something?
Yes, the bar near my restaurant. Rachael s having boyfriend problems and asked me to help her out.
Not sure what I can do for her though, but she needs my support I guess.

Connection between study and practice. All my knowledge in service marketing and sales were very helpful and useful during my internship. They bring me a lot of new ideas to be focus on what I m doing and what to expect from me. Particularly during my MiBA studies I loved to read marketing reports, they are all very useful to have a global vision to marketing strategies of the company. During my internship I saw how the marketing chief plans this report with a new form of planning that actually it s use by programmers, it s call Planning Poker , this game should force people to think independently and to avoid the influence of the other participants. That was something innovating for me. Working Routine. My working routine began with some lessons of sales force. Learning Sales Force was quite an experience as the company use this CRM system to automate all sales procedures such as mass mail for all leads, creation of itineraries, tracking leads activities with html codes scripts on our mails signatures, and even making a whole travel plane for internal needs (internal reports, costs, products to add) and beautiful templates for final costumers. • 3. Swing Music And The Popularity Of Swing Music Swing band arrangements were in large part composed, often of simple, repeated material, or riffs, that alternated between contrapuntal lines and intense unison rhythms. Improvisation also had a featured role, and soloists would play while the rest of the band, aside from the rhythm section, dropped out or played arranged background lines. POPULARITY OF SWING MUSIC One explanation for swing music s popularity is that its driving intensity and abandon represented pleasure and freedom in a time when the country was steeped in hard times. The Great Depression caused Americans to suffer, and dancing to swing music was a way for people to forget their worries. Swing music featured a section of three or four trumpeters, three or four trombonist, five saxophonists who often doubled on clarinets, a piano, a bassist instead of a tuba player, a guitarist, and a drummer. During the 1930s, swing came to symbolize joy and ease, the weight of which was reflected in Duke Ellington s piece, It Don t Mean a Thing (If It Ain t Got That Swing). The civilization borrows from Japan, China, Athens, and Rome, and is a syncretic blend of language, art, architecture, writing, religion, and government of the aforementioned civilizations with a unique social structure. The location of the Land of Fish is found in southern coastal China. The location helps sustain the civilization as the people are able to benefit from food and resources from the sea. The coastal region allows the civilization to trade with sea based materials and seafood. The civilization faces the East China Sea, and is also located near the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, with both rivers used as a water and food source. Though the Land of Fish does have farms on the outskirts, the economy is largely based off the sea. The ports of the civilization are widely accessible to other civilizations, bringing in trade and new goods. In the civilization, the main marketplace is in the center of the Land of Fish, the central location allowing accessibility for anybody. Some marketplaces are also found scattered throughout the part of the civilization where the middle class and merchants are located, near the coast. More inland, near the farms, the peasants are located separate from majority of the middle class and high class. The elite and high class are found in a separate part of the civilization, near the government buildings, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there are SWOT framework and Porter s five forces model etc. to understand the firm s competitive advantage, those are environmental analysis, which is only the half story as Barney,(1995) suggested. So, an analysis of a firm s internal strengths and weaknesses is required. On the other hand, from he view of dynamic capability, zappos operation model was to provide exceptional product selection by padre rim with shoe companies, then it changed, all shipments were from its own inventory, (Z,10) because the old model lacks of accuracy and had unreliable information updates. Undeniably, one of Zappos competence is their distribution system, Zappos noticed that there should be some changes, not only the shipping model, also include the allocation of ground delivery, ship delivery and air delivery, or the facilitating of automatic machines, as time goes by, Zappos is always updating this competency. Dynamic capability can be seen as a critique of RBV, There is also literature suggesting, that DC is outcome of RBV, Dynamic capability is defined as capabilities that endow firms with competitive advantage in changing environments. Both capabilities and DC are organization . A DC is the VRIO s O . To be a source of competitive advantage it must be VRI. So dynamic capability can be seen as a firm integrate its valuable, rare and costly imitated resources over times. From this perspective, when we analyze Zappos distribution competency, we can also say that Zappos is organizing its distributing resource and equipping it in order to be responsive to address the changes taking place in the environment. • 13. Concepts Of Love In George s Babbitt These concepts of love can also be seen in other works of the time. In Babbitt, George has a few affairs with varying success throughout the novel. His first attempt at having an affair was with Ida, a young manicurist. After a dinner of awkward conversation, she, rather mechanically, returned the favor with a kiss. As described by Lewis, from the standpoint of Miss Ida Putiak, [Babbitt was] an old bore who had to be endured as the penalty attached to eating a large dinner (242). Here one can begin to see a clearer picture of love itself as a consumable commodity, pursued for the same reasons as purchasing a new good the instant gratification that can easily be replicated over and over again with new relationships and things. In these highly consumer driven cases, love and affection are demonstrated through material possession, and then when selecting a partner, one must go for the most luxurious option. Because of this, companionship can often be left for only those with the most wealth and possession. Just as happiness and love were perceived to be commodities that could be purchased in the 1920s, so was companionship of any nature. This follows the reason of the era though. If one chose one s lover on the basis of luxury goods, then it is only logical that one would also choose friends and spouses this way. In Babbitt, he often complained about his wife and her simple mindedness. He hated it when she mended her stockings instead of replacing them, or when she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the story progresses we can see that Cain really does because that person that we meet in the beginning of the book. The first thing that comes to my mind to think Cain is a honorable person is when he stood up to preacher. This was very honorable of him to go face to face with antagonist of the story. What made this act even more honorable was that he stood up for someone that has different skin color then him which was unheard of to do. On their journey Cain comes across Mary s house, he finds three wishes for him to do. The first one was take care of Rosetta, the second one was make sure you give the money to Rosetta, and lastly bury her and her husbands grave. When Cain does these actions you can tell that Cain is a man of his word and only honor comes with that. It takes a lot of dignity to bury someone and give money to a black runaway slave at the time. He also chooses not to bring back Rosetta which is very important in the book. This means that he is taking someone else s problems and putting them on himself. • 25. Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries that are richly decorated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect. Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I learned that there are different levels of communication in relationship, and while it seemed very obvious that there would be different levels, it was never something I thought about. The levels go from least confidential to most confidential. The order of the levels from least to most are: biographical data, superficial preferences, goals/aspirations, religious beliefs and convictions, deeply personal and private fears/fantasies/desires/past experiences, and the most confidential of them all is your inner self concept (Hock, 2016). I could probably be considered someone who is very old school because I think sex should not be an activity that you share with everyone, but that s a part of my sexual philosophy. My attitude about sex is very positive until it becomes something that s not special, AKA with someone whom I don t love. I ve already stated this, but my preference regarding sex is for it to be between two people who love each other. For me, it would be with the person whom I love and can see myself with in the future. I also prefer it to be private because then it is something very personal between me and the person I love. My idea of a healthy and fulfilling romantic relationship is one in which we both can be completely open and honest with each other. • 30. Heat By Mike Lupa Summary The book I read this month is called Heat. The author Mike Lupica did a really good job writing this story. Heat is about a boy named Mike and his brother Carlos, and how they find their way to live without any parents. Mike is probably the best pitcher on the Clippers, and in the league. Then a kid named Justin s dad, the coach of the Giants had it out to get him out of the league. Just to help his team make it to the Little League World Series. Mike just dealt with it for a while, until he got back in the league, and got to pitch in the series. To my Miguelito, he said. That made me feel like I was there and could hear the sound of the ball being whaled off of the bat. That is just one example out of the rest of the really good details Mike Lupica used in the book. I recommend this book to someone that likes baseball or somebody that likes to read about sports. I chose this recommendation because the book is about baseball. Also somebody that likes lovey dovey books won t like this book. I said this because this has nothing even remotely close to this. I rate this book a 10 out of 10. There s also evidence from the journal of reproductive doxology that found that humans must be exposed to levels of BPA at least 10 times what EPA has deemed safe because of the amount of chemical detected in tissues and blood samples. In 1997 Japan began to use other natural resin instead of BPA after their scientists show the leaching of BPA into baby bottles. They did point out though that some of these same studies have shown that other foods we eat containing estrogen like chemicals including some soy products have shown similar effects.(biello,2008) One of the reasons for our quick excretion of BPA is our body turns it into glucuronide, and it is excreted through feces and not urine, which is why the amount of BPA in urine indicates far higher exposure than the actual amount in the urine.
