How Democratic Is The American Constitution Written By...
In the book How Democratic Is the American Constitution written by Robert A. Dahl, it shows us a
deeper understanding of how the complexities of when and how the ideals of the American
democracy were framed. This book also shows us that this amazing document was created in a way
that many of us wouldn t have thought of. Throughout the book Dahl takes us on an incredible
adventure through America s beginning years, as far back as the Constitutional Convention in
1787. One of the first things that is mentioned in the book is that the democracy that we have is not
a static system but rather it has been changed and still continues to change to this day over the years
since it has been completed. Many of the authors that helped to contribute to completing the
Constitutionalso had a change of views as the years went by after the document s completion. For
example, Dahl mentions that James Madison, who was thirty six years old at the time, had not
fully finalized his ideas for the constitution, mainly towards suffrage and majority rules. Due to
this, couple of years later Madison published a series of multiple essays that contain ideas and
steps to take that could help overcome the possible threats of political parties. In 1821 Madison
wrote The right of suffrage is a fundamental Article in Republican Constitutions (Dahl, 2001, p.
35). This book is a great read for a better and deeper understanding of early political science that is
written in a great style that is

The Environmental, Strategic, And Organizational Changes...
1. Discuss the environmental, strategic, and organizational changes that occurred over the life of
Andersen in the context of Figure 11.1. The architectural design of a firm varies greatly. In 1950,
the business environment of Arthur Andersen included using the computer effectively for
automated bookkeeping. Structure and regulation of the markets, helped Arthur Andersen to
develop into a well respected and reputable auditing company. The federal law in the 1930s
requiring companies to turn over their financial statements yearly to an independent auditor not
only strengthened Arthur Andersen, but also helped with their impeccable reputation. Arthur
Andersen s strategy included quality audits with a well managed staff and profits. Promotions and
rewards were plentiful when auditors made sound auditing decisions. In the 1990s, Arthur
Andersen s organizational architecture and strategy focused on generating new business, cost
cutting, and performance evaluations along with decision rights over its business (Brickley,
Smith, Zimmerman, 2009). 2. Evaluate Andersen s claim that their problems on the Enron audit
were due to a few bad partners in the organization. If you disagree with this claim, discuss what
you think were the root causes of the problem. I do not believe Andersen s claim. I believe that
they had full knowledge of what was happening at Enron. I believe that Enron was paying off the
auditors (staffers) in the Houston office. I believe they were

I Am A Safe Haven At Your Hands
Imagine having a safe haven at your hands, any time of the day. It is 2013, and I am in seventh
grade. I am scrolling through Twitter in my dark room when I come across a page called Buddy
Project, and decide to read into it. As I am reading, with the light from my phone illuminating my
face, I find out that it s a nonprofit organization that pairs you with a person. It is meant to help
you deal with an eating disorder, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and mental illnesses. I am seeing all
of this information and I know I need to join the project. It was that one day in November that
changed my life forever.
I remember my heart racing when I was paired with my first buddy. I found out that her name
was Abby; she was dealing with an eating disorder and suspected she was depressed. We both
hadn t gotten help at this point, so it wasn t truly beneficial. Pain and darkness were consuming
our lives, but speaking up didn t seem like an option. The next year, 2014, I met two new people.
Their names were Danielle and Jay. Again, mutual effort was being made, but nobody got the help
they needed yet. I saw blood curdling messages, but I knew it was my job to help as best as I
could. I felt like I was drowning and gasping for air, but my main priority was the other people.
Even though there was a disclaimer that says not to use the project as a replacement for getting
help, that is what so many people did. Trying to help someone who wouldn t get professional help
is the type of thing

The Role Of European Imperialism In Africa
Ever heard the saying big bank take little bank ? That s basically what imperialism is.
Imperialism is a policy which a strong nation take complete control over other countries . This is
exactly what the Europeans did in several different parts of Africa . Not only did the Europeans
divided and colonized Africabut they took everything away ,from their culture to their
independence. Why take all this away ? It s simple , the Europeans nations was competing against
each other and they thought they were superior. They noticed Africa had many raw materials and
resources they could use and benefit from. The driving force for imperialismin Africa was
economics , competition , and politics. In order for the European nation to be advance

Cause And Consequences Of Homelessness In The United States
Homelessness As I drove through the streets of New Orleans I constantly see homeless people
sleeping in tents under the overpass on Claiborne Avenue commonly named tent city . I wondered
what were the psychological reasons of those that ended up homeless, the statistics, causes, and
consequences of homelessnesscombined with the effect it has on society. There are various reasons
that homelessness exists in the United States, the most common reason is due to a lack of
affordable housing. Homelessness is more predominant in urban areas than in rural regions of the
U.S. According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, approximately 578,424
people were identified as homeless in the United States as of January 2014. Homelessness... Show

These sudden and unfortunate events displaced millions of people and led to an even larger
increase in the homeless population. The Great Depression in 1929 was another catastrophic event
in American history that led to major economic hardships for millions of citizens that further
propelled homelessness. Although these historical events are from the past the residual effects are
impacting the U.S. society and culture today. Slavery was a part of the United States since the
beginning of the American Revolution, which placed a racial division between the whites and
blacks. Although slavery was abolished during the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, the effects of
racism lingered continuously and are sadly still affecting many African Americans today in certain
ways. After World War II, America improved greatly; in terms of economic wealth. This was a time
of financial prosperity and innovative technological advancements. Caucasians in America
benefitted greatly from the country s newfound wealth; however African Americans were not so
lucky. They found themselves segregated from the whites and prohibited from certain rights. Some
of these rights involved housing and employment opportunities. While the Caucasians in the U.S.
had access to their preferred employment and housing, African Americans and other minorities
were not granted these same rights.

Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer s Twilight Books And...
Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer
s Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the
fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most
well known photographs of TwilightMoms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 TwilightEvent
(Buckner). However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather
their age; the subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual
rhetoric argues that Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older
women. The media claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up.
However, the media s biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a
group of women that relate to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their
daughters as well as an escape from the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a
Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa
Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page (Brodesser akner). According to Hansen, she
originally created Twilight Moms for married women and mothers; however, that definition has
since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more inclusive group consisting of any female
fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight Moms are grown women

Six beakers were obtained and each labeled separately as yeast, glucose, sucrose, maltose,

This accounts for accurate carbon dioxide measurements. The flasks were placed in a water bath
set to 37 degrees Celsius. After five minutes, the level of the solution in each flask was marked
with a sharpie. These five minutes allowed the contents of the flask to equilibrate. The space
above the solution was the amount of carbon dioxide produced from alcoholic fermentation. The
carbon dioxide collected at the top of the flask was possible because it is a gas and therefore
escapes the solution after it is produced. This amount of carbon dioxide collection at the top of
each flask was used to determine the rate of fermentation by measuring the amount of carbon
dioxide in the flask over time. The amount of carbon dioxide measured from the first mark on
each flask was recorded as the initial reading. A new mark of the level of the solution was made
every five minutes until the time reached 20 minutes. Then, the levels of carbon dioxide at each
time interval were recorded according to the position of the mark which corresponded with that
time. The procedure was repeated one more time with six new fermentation flasks. This resulted in
two recorded accounts of the amount of carbon dioxide produced in each flask. The averages of
the two trials were calculated and are the values found in Table

The Abortion For A Minor
Support legislation and opposition Relating to notice of and consent to an abortion for a minor.
Abortion for minors is a major public health concern in the United States. There are more than
300,000 births to teens each year, increasing the risk of both the mother and the baby s health.
Abortions on minors have raised political, clinical, social, and economic awareness. In order to
make effective changes to abortionfor the minor one must produce empirical evidence, to evaluate
policy options for persons involved in public health policy and legislation. In January 2000, Texas
enacted a law requiring physicians to notify the parent before an abortion is done with a minor, or

The only way for minors to seek abortion without involving their parents is to petition for a
judicial bypass, from the courts. Most States are now being applying the parental involvement
of one or more parent to be notified or consent before a minor daughter legally has an abortion.
Some states require one of two types of parental involvement, which involves notifying one or
both Parent. So far about 38 states now required some type of parental involvement in a minor s
decision to have an abortion. Out of these 38 states, 21 of the states require one or both parents to
give consent to the procedure, 12 require one or both parents be notified and 5 require both
consent and notification before an elective abortion can occur. Three of these require both parents
to consent. The parental involvement laws from the Court have clarified the legal position on
abortion regulation making it difficult for a female goes for an abortion. (Guttmacher, 2013). In
Texas, the parental notification and consent laws had an effect on birth and abortion rates for
minors with notification laws reducing birth and abortion rate with the 16 17 year old females.

Analysis Of The Poem Caged Bird By Maya Angelou
The poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou tells the story of two birds: one bird has the luxury of
freedom and the second bird lives its life caged and maltreated by an unknown tyrant. Maya
Angelou wrote this poem during the Civil Rights Era, the period when black activists in the 1950
s and 1960 s fought for desegregation of African Americans. This poem parallels the oppression
that African Americans were fighting during this time period. In Caged Bird , Angelou builds a
strong contrast that shows the historical context of discrimination and segregation through the use
of mood, symbolism, and theme. The mood of Caged Bird changes drastically from stanza to
stanza. Angelou s specific diction choices help to reflect the change from being positive to
negative with some elements of hope involved. The parts of the poem involving the free bird
provide the reader with a feeling of self government. In contrast, the mood associated with the caged
bird is confinment. Despite the negative mood tied to the caged bird there are still elements of
hope woven into these stanzas. The first stanza of the poem introduce the free bird. Angelou uses
words such as leaps . . . and floats (Line 1 3) in description of this character s movements. These
actions relate directly to moving without restrictions. The words leaped and floats are contradicted
immediately in the second stanza as Angelou brings the caged bird into the picture. Angelou uses
diction that complements confinement

Differences Between Oda And The Marshall Plan
After over four decades of development aid being directed at developing countries, the general
assumption of commentators around the subject is that the majority of these recipients have
witnessed very little or no economic growth, apart from a handful of countries such as South
Korea and Botswana (Easterly, 2006). Further highlighting this point, Clemens (2004) observes
that only five countries saw annual growth of over 7% over a 15 year period whilst 21 other
recipients actually suffered negative growth the same 15 year period, 1985 2000. To put this data
in perspective, the Marshall Plan worked in a similar manner to Official Development Aid(ODA),
yet spent a fraction of the amount given to developing countries and successfully rebuilt Europe
after World War 2. There are differences between ODA and the Marshall Plan; the Marshall Plan
promoted business sector development through economic functions, whereas ODA has primarily
targeted government led growth and social service development. Yet, the point still remains that
ODA can be regarded as a failure given the comparison with the Marshall Plan and the economic
data observed from ODA (Gibson et al, 2009).
This has called into question the strategies and potential of development aid to successfully deliver
its official aim of improving the economic conditions and welfare of developing countries through a
top down, government approach (DAC). Emerging from this argument is the rise of the
Microfinance Industry (MFI), a

Right To Bear Arms
A well regulated militia necessary of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms,
shall not be infringed. It isn t much, but the power in these words is what keeps this country
free. It s what keeps the people in this country safe. Everyone has their own opinion on the
subject, but the facts show that the right to bear arms benefits this country more than it hurts.
We should have more carrying rights in places like college campuses in order to help prevent
crimes and stop sexual assaults on campus. For example, a student at the University of Nevada,
Amanda Collins, was sexually assaulted and raped on campus in a parking garage. She had a
concealed carry permit so that she could protect herself, but since she was on campus, she wasn
t allowed to carry her firearm for self defence. In turn, her assailant, James Biela, was able to take
advantage of her, hold a gun on her and rape her. If she would have been able to carry her firearm,
she would have been able to stop her attacker. Her attacker went on to rape two more women and
kill one of them before he was caught. That all could have been avoided if Ms. Collins was
allowed to have her firearm with her on campus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 19th century state Supreme Court cases, individuals had the right to own arms that are
useful for militia services. The right of the people to arms is a litany of other rights which are
universally acknowledged to be individual rights, not state s rights. As one of the essential and
inseparable features of English liberty, the right to arms was obviously a right of free individuals,
not a power of state

Nelson Mandela s Leadership Qualities
Introduction
Nelson Mandela (Mandela) is a figurehead for the equality of people not only in South Africa, but
also around the globe. Mandela has played many important roles throughout his life and although
initially leading by being a pacifist, he has changed roles over time to lead as a revolutionary, a
prisoner and a president. Many prominent leaders throughout time have established routes in time
by effectively changing perceptions and Mandela is one of these leaders.
This paper examines the journey in which Mandela embarked and will identify Mandela s
leadership qualities and styles throughout his journey to becoming President of South Africa.
Although Mandela exhibits many different leadership qualities, one can make a statement that
Mandela is a transformative leader, in that he exhibits various characteristics of six distinct
leadership perspectives. Mandela can be seen as any particular type of these six leadership
perspectives, but this paper will analyze the extent of these leadership qualities and how they have
impacted the life of Mandela and the world.
For the purpose of this paper, the distinct variance of whether Mandela was a freedom fighter or a
terrorist will not be examined, but may make for an interesting distinction. This paper will
ultimately determine Mandela s leadership qualities and styles to conclude whether Mandela can be
seen as a prominent and effective leader.

are no requirements for private employers to have a drug free workplace policy other than federal

ecstasy. There are five primary drug tests they include urine, blood, hair, saliva, and sweat. Urine
is the most common way to test for drug or alcohol abuse but there are new sampling methods on
the rise. Urine is the least expensive and least intrusive. The urine drug test usually screens for
alcohol, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, marijuana, cocaine, PCP, and opioids (narcotics). Hair

metabolites cannot be detected through oral samples. To collect sweat samples a person must wear

Aime Cesaire s A Tempest Clarifies Shakespeare s The Tempest
Cesaire s A Tempest Clarifies Shakespeare s The Tempest
Negritude, originally a literary and ideological movement of French speaking black intellectuals,
reflects an important and comprehensive reaction to the colonial situation of European colonization
(Carlberg). This movement, which influenced Africans as well as blacks around the world,
specifically rejects the political, social, and moral domination of the West. Leopold Senghor, Leon
Damas, and Aime Cesaire are the three pioneers of the revolution. The founder who expresses his
ideas more broadly, though, is Cesaire, who uses literary works to express his viewpoint on
colonization. An excellent example of such a tactic is his play, A Tempest
, which is a revision of ...

Prospero becomes the ruler of the only other two inhabitants of the island, Caliban and Ariel.
Cesaire uses the same series of events, but confronts his readers with the unpleasant realities of
slavery in the Americas (Allison). While Prospero is cast in the role of a White slave owner, the
natives, Ariel and Caliban, are transformed into his black slaves. The presence of race in the play
is also displayed when Cesaire exposes the feeble, racist, stereotypes many Whites propagate
about Blacks (Dayan 134). When referring to Caliban s living quarters, Prospero says, It wouldn
t be such a ghetto if you took the trouble to keep it clean (Cesaire 13). Such a statement is clearly
racist and plays into the stereotypes many Whites have about Blacks, and also makes the presence
of race in Cesaire s play more obvious.
Another aspect of Cesaire s play that proves it is written from the African American perspective of
colonization is the language used. The Tempest is written, obviously, in Shakespearean language, a
European form which is sometimes difficult for the modern reader to understand. Cesaire sees
writing in an European language as a representation of Shakespeare s favoring of the Europeans in
their domination of Americas. Therefore, to contradict this viewpoint, A Tempest is written in a
more modern language, leaning more towards ebonics than the

That makes PP can be applied in many sectors.
Lastly, PP has a good resistance to fatigue, which means, even PP products had been used for a
long period of time, they will not have a structural damage easily. That makes the products of PP
have a high durability.
5. Usage
From the properties I have mentioned above, we can conclude that PP has a lot of advantages. And
because PP is very cheap, so it has a widely use in our daily lives.
As PP has a high melting point, one of the major usages of it is to produce dishware or food
container, it can also put into microwave for heating without the risk of being melted or release
toxic substances.
Moreover, because PP is very tough, many plastic furniture are also made up of it. Compare to
the furniture made up of metal, PP s furniture can avoid corrosion. And it is more comfortable
than metal furniture because metal will become hot if u sit on it for a period of time, but PP s
furniture is relatively cooler as it is plastic.
Lastly, due to the resistance of fatigue, PP will also use to produce auto parts or industrial fibers,
so it can ensure the risk of breaking down due to fatigue is minimized, and the cost is also lowered.
6. Misconceptions
From the response of the general public to the plastic pellet incident, we can see that most of us
may have some common misconceptions towards the plastic pellets or PP.
Firstly, the PP itself is non toxic. If PP is toxic, then why

The Importance and History of the Steam Engine Essay
The wonderful progress of the present century is, in a very great degree, due to the invention and
improvement of the steam engine, and to the ingenious application of its power to kinds of work
that formerly taxed the physical energies of the human race. ~Robert H. Thurston
The steam engine can easily be considered the single most important invention of the entire
industrial revolution. There is not one part of industry present in today s society that can be
examined without coming across some type of reference or dependence upon the steam engine.
But, who deserves the credit for this great invention? Some give the credit to James Watt while
others claim that Thomas Newcomen was the original inventor. However, the idea of the... Show

Thurston.
The idea using the power of steam to our advantage goes back nearly twenty one centuries. A
learned writer in ancient Alexandria, named Hero, wrote a manuscript describing various
devices and ideas of the time. Although it is not proven that Hero was the inventor of any of
these devices, he is given credit for the earliest mention of steam power. Hero describes a method
to open the doors of a temple with the action of a fire on the alter at the front of the temple. A
series of pipes runs between the alter and the temple doors. The force of the steam created by the
fire on the alter is strong enough to open the temple doors. The essential principle that Hero used
was to change heat energy into mechanical energy or work. Supposedly, Hero continued his work
and ended up creating what is often called the First Steam Engine. Hero s engine is featured on
below on the right. The cauldron or bowl like portion AB holds water. There is a steam tight
cover place over top of the cauldron. Two pipes extend from the lid and suspend a globe directly
above the cauldron. The water is heated, causing steam to be created and forced through the
pipes. The globe then fills with steam. Pipes K and H are located on opposite sides of the globe
and allow the steam to escape when the pressure becomes uneven. The escaping steam then causes
the globe to spin on its axis.

Analysis Of The Book Diary Of A Madman
Lu Xun was one of the first prominent writers of modern china. He uses an ironic technique in
the preface by writing in classical Chinese language to suggest a false, friendly world made
exclusively by social appearances. The traditional Chinese text is typically seen as superior, and
as per the Chinese traditions the modern language is seen as an intruder. The author s use of the
style was a way of making a point. Diary of a Madman is a short story written by Lu Xun and
was published in the new youth magazine in 1918 (231). The story demonstrates his discontent
with traditional Chinese culture, not only by the fact that it clearly addresses the horror of
cannibalism that is believed to have occurred but he is also trying to point out the oppressive
nature of Confucian principles. In the short novel, the madman has the ability to recognize the
cruel elements of Chinese Confucian culture that serves to mock established but out dated
traditional scholarship. In the story Diary of a Madman, the protagonist of the diary talks about
his how he thinks other people perceive him. He sees that the individuals are giving him abnormal
looks; as though they were attempting to scare him or as though he had perpetrated some serious
crime. When I made my way out the front gate this morning ever so carefully there was something
funny about the way the venerable old man Zhao looked at me: seemed as though he was afraid of

All The Years Of Her Life Analysis
Mother s are mysteries that we never seem to solve. Have you ever asked yourself, do I really
know my mother? Morley Callaghan in All the Years of Her Life introduced us to a mother who
demonstrates a kindness for her son, Alfred, and a strength untethered by Mr.Carr s intimidation.
She proves her unbendable patience and unwavering heart over the long years of her life. Mrs.
Higgins is a kind, strong, and patient mother.
Marley Callaghan shows Mrs. Higgins demonstrating an unfaltering kindness towards Mr. Carr
who is hard faced and stern. Alfred believes she will be harsh or will act poorly but instead, she

Relationship Between Hindu Gods And Goddesses
Hindu Gods and Goddesses
Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world. It has a complicated system of many gods.
These gods can take many forms including animals and people. Hinduism, being a debatable
polytheistic religion, has many gods who create legends that can help explain relationships between
god and people while elaborating on hindu beliefs.
Hinduism is commonly viewed as a polytheistic religion. It s many gods make up a variety of
interesting stories and myths. However, many of these gods are simply reincarnations of other
gods. A god may reincarnate to perform a certain task. They can reincarnate in human and animal

a sacrifice and invite all gods, except for Shiva. To retaliate Shiva created two demons to kill
Parvati s mother. In the end the other gods were able to rationalize with Shiva, allowing him to
bring back Parvati s mother from the dead. In their next incarnation Shiva and Parvati got
married (Mark Cartwright). This story shows how god can make flaws and how they can act
irrationally. However it also shows how gods can come together and reason with those who are out
of control. Shiva shows us a more emotional side of god s bettering our understanding of inter god

Political System Vs Nightwatchman
The state function is to maintain ways/regulations in which a country runs. Whereas, the
government can change political parties based on electoral results giving directions in how the state
will run. The state has four essential departments which are legislative, executive administrative,
and judicial; however, Canada follows the parliamentary system, and the USA support the
congressional scheme. Although they both hold the same departments the distribution of power is
different. The Nightwatchman were people, mainly men holding a political position with
substantial business interests looking to increase their capital. Hence their profiteering took
precedence over the welfare of the people, workplace safety. Only the minimal work standards

How Diversity Has Changed My Life
I always marveled at how Joshua s Yakama managed to stay on. Sweat dripping and curls
bouncing with each exercise, Joshua listened for my instruction. I had to be very articulate and an
extremely good demonstrator when correcting Joshua with his exercises. A practicing Hasidic Jew,
Joshua was not allowed to touch or be touched by a female. Touch for Gary, however, was crucial.
Legally blind from the age of 6, Gary relied on his sense of touch, as well as my physical contact
guiding him through the proper motions of his exercise program. Qing Yuan barely needed any
guidance through her exercise program. Despite the significant language barrier that existed
between her and everyone at the clinic, she had a doting son with her who would translate between
Chinese and English. However, we later found out that her son would intentionally misinterpret
certain medical information to his mother, that was thought in Chinese culture to bring shame to her.

Essay On Braling s Pov
Braling s POV But why so early, Braling? Smith asked me. It was about ten in the evening and
the sun was setting. I hadn t had a full drink all night, coming home from a restaurant with a bar.
This was the first time I had a night away from my wife in 10 years. I couldn t believe I got out.
How d you get away? Smith asked me, as if he was reading my mind. But the answer was a secret.
Mysteriously, I answered, I ll tell you in a minute, but responding to his question wasn t what
was on my mind at the moment. It was how I was going to reveal my secret to him. Luckily, the
subject changed. I explained how my wife blackmailed me into marrying her, and then decided
to ask him about how his relationship was. It s fine. Smith said briefly. I knew that this wasn t
the truth. I stopped walking, looked him in the eyes, and gave a slight nod to say, Go on.
Realizing that he had to keep talking, he continued. It s just hard to live with a woman who calls
you at work all day, and sits on your lap all evening, especially when you ve been married 15
years, you know? Seeing his distressed face, I knew he wanted to change the subject, so I put my
hand in my pocket. When I took it out, I heard Smith gasp and start wheezing, as if he were a
balloon flying out of control. But that is the ticket for the Thursday rocket to Rio! I could tell from

Redesign The Rn Health Coach Position
Reference1
In this presentation we are going to redesign the RN Health Coach position that was discussed in
the attached paper. The health coach performs many functions such as manual chart reviews,
auditing emergency room (ER) visits and hospital discharges for transitions of care, health coaching
individuals with chronic diseases to help them effectively manage their illness, and identifying gaps
in care that need to be closed. Today we will explore an avenue to reconstruct this position and
potential changes to the reward system that is in place to increase productivity and job satisfaction.
The health coach performs multiple activities that currently require the coach to manual pull data
from the electronic medical record, EHR. With this redesigned approach the health coach would no
longer complete chart reviews as the EHR that is currently used throughout the clinics have a
patient manager section that includes all of the information that is being manual extracted for the
chart reviews. Also, instead of the health coach manually pulling data, such as who has been in the
ER five or more times in the past year, set up a report that will run automatically on a monthly basis
for the coach to review. Finally, the health coach is currently pulling the data on hospital
discharges manually on a daily basis. In this process the health coach opens all of the charts of the
patients that were discharged the prior day to determine who the patients primary care provider
(PCP) is and

Male Nurses Vs Female Nursing Research
I believe that female nurses are better then male nurses. They have more time and dedication to
their patients and their work. Also they show more emotion to their work to be able to find what
will work the best and what will need to be done. They are determined to find an outcome or a
solution to your situation. Some often wantto bring help to those who are in needof it and to bring
change to the world. I will start off with my first example who is Mary Breckinridge and how
she had wanted to bring more help to the poor families. Next would be Ruth Tapp she showed
me and proved to me that if you put time and effort into things that you will have a good
outcome. The last example that I have is Clarissa (Clara) Barton. She was so indulged in her
work that she came up with the red cross because she wanted to help everyone that needed it. As
a matter of fact Mary Breckinridge would be a good example of someone who is inspired to being a
nurse. She had dedicated her life to becoming a nurse. It all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They also show more passion for their patients and their work that they do. Female nurses are
very intent on finding a result to your problems that you have. Others would like to lend a
helping hand to those who are in need of it. Would you rather have someone that would pay
attention to everything you say and be able to help solve your issue or would you want someone
that doesn t listen and doesn t help solve your problem? Do you want someone who cares about
you getting better or someone who just wants to find a solution so you could leave? Would you
rather have someone who listens to everything you say and finds the best solution that you are
comfortable with or do you want someone who listens but comes up with an idea that you aren t
comfortable with? So just stop and think every female nurse out there was drawn to nursing
because of a desire to care, to serve, or to help. So what nurse would you want to help

The Theme Of Death In The Book Thief
The unification of reality and narration displays the vast elaboration of humanity s understandings
and knowledge. The post colonial criticism, against certain characters of the text, The Book Thief
set in 1939 war periods with the power of Adolf Hitler, applies a diaspora lens upon our
perceptions towards this horrific event of our history. The narrator portrayed as Death in the
context, can be seen as a major theme in both the narration and the reality in our understanding of
humanity. Adding to the idea of themes depicted in the text, the human capacity for both kindness
and cruelty is also shown through the contrast between two distinct faces of human race described
in the novel. This which leads to the complex and varied human experiences, which we may
consider as friendship or on the other hand, the loss of a persona in the context. It is within certain
texts like these in which we may be inspired to realisation referring to the vast elaboration of
humanity s existence. Eventually, we come to a full worth of recognition upon the reasonfor how the
complexity of humanity s existence may be emphasised as, through themes in both textual and the
factual references in our human experiences.

The Effects Of Torture On Human Rights Violations
Although the use of torture has been around since the first century, most Americans did not debate
on the controversial topic until after the Abu Ghraib incident surfaced in April 2004. The Baghdad
Central Prison, formerly known as Abu Ghraib prison was a complex west of Baghdad. During the
war in Iraq, US armed forces committed a number of human rightsviolations, including pouring
phosphorus liquid on detainees, pouring cold water on naked detainees, beating detainees (Hersh)
and committing other psychological, physical, and sexual abuses. At the Abu Ghraib prison,
military officials abused detainees for several reasons or without providing a reason. Enhanced
interrogation techniquesare sometimes seen as necessary to extract information, punish detainees,
and instill fear; however, occasionally torture is used without providing a reason. Proponents of
torture insist its legitimacy in special circumstances, especially when handling international
terrorists. Opponents of torture believe these human rights violations are medieval and inhumane.
Torture is illegal in the United States and no United States agency can legally engage in torture
abroad. No country should engage in enhanced interrogation techniques because the methods are a
violation of ethical principles, a violation of international law, a form of cruel and unusual
punishment, ineffective in combating terrorism, and immoral, dehumanizing acts related to a lack
of moral integrity.

Global Climate Change
Global climate change is no big secret things are heating up and humans are starting to
see the implications of the global warming phenomena. As these consequences have begun to
impinge upon our realities of a healthy, functioning world, scientists have been hard pressed to
find a solution, a save all for mother Earth called geoengineering. One side of these solutions is
in carbon dioxide removal tactics that target the disease of too much carbon in the atmosphere
(Hamilton, 20). One of the most largely supported arguments for CO2 removal iron fertilization.
Global warming is also a hot topic of political debate because the problem is now so extensive
that effective action is needed on a global scale (20). It s time for humans assume responsibility
of our own self created mess, and also ponder the ramifications of our past, present, and future
Fertilizing the Ocean: adding iron, sequestering carbon
The ocean is a massive carbon repository. Scientists looking combat global
warming thought that carbon from the atmosphere could be moved into the oceans, where it
would stay for millennia. The man accredited for this idea is the late John Martin, who
discovered that in many regions of the ocean, iron has been found to be the limiting nutrient for
growth (NASA). Iron, a macronutrient, is needed for photosynthesis to occur and has been
linked to phytoplankton blooms (see image 2) and ice ages (Martinez Garcia). It reaches the

Ohio State University Traffic Investigation Report
Introduction
Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors on campus is one of the Ohio
State University s greatest concerns. As one of the most common and dangerous threats to student
safety, traffic safety is always a vital consideration. Due to pedestrian complaints, the universityhas
directed their attention Woody Hayes Drive and Olentangy River Road. The team has been
appointed to approach this issue using a spot speed method. The purpose of this experiment was to
collect and evaluate traffic speed data in the area in order to determine if further action from the
university is necessary to improve traffic safety.
The next section, experimental methodology, describes how the experiment was setup, carried out,
and the conditions in which the experiment took place. Section 3 displays the results that were
obtained from the experimental procedure, as well as provides a brief description as how the data
were evaluated. Section 4 attempts to create a logical interpretation as to what the results mean, as
well as identify any potential errors that may have skewed the results. Finally, section 5 summarizes
the report, and suggests conclusions for the results posed throughout the experiment and potential
solutions to errors discussed in section 4.

To What Extent Does Alexander Deserve The Title The Great
The definition of great is above average, but Alexander seems average to me.Therefore, I don t
think that Alexander deserves the title of The Great . To be great one must be a leader, trustworthy,
honest, kind, and brave. Alexander III was none of these things. Alexander was a murderer,
criminal, and he enslaved women and children.
I think Alexander was a murderer, because he killed multiple people. Some examples of the
innocent people that he killed are: A doctor, who couldn t save the lover of Alexander.Alexander
then took the doctor s life without any hesitation. The 2nd person he killed was named Parmenius.
Alexander killed him, because he suspected Parmenius was plotting against him.Alexander also
killed Callistenes, who was the nephew of Aristotle.Clearly something was wrong with Alexander,
because those weren t the only people he had killed.Sure Alexander killed people in war, but self

Many critics of the SNAP program have accused it of encouraging unhealthy eating habits among its

that the mere distribution of food assistance leads SNAP recipients to buy more food, which results
in higher consumption among the SNAP population. Others think foods high in sugar and fat

Man’yōshū vs. Kokinshū and Their Significance
The Man yЕЌshЕ« and the KokinshЕ« are perhaps among the most revered and earliest collections
of Japanese poetry. The Man yЕЌshЕ«, meaning Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves (or
Generations), is believed to be compiled by the poet ЕЊtomo no Yakamochi sometime after AD
759 during the Nara Period. It contains over 4,000 poems, mostly tanka, that date before the end of
the eighth century, and the writings are somewhat divided chronologically into four periods. Almost
two centuries later, the Kokin wakashЕ« or KokinshЕ«, meaning Collection of Poems Ancient and
Modern, was compiled under the imperial command of Emperor Daigo in AD 905 during the Heian
Periodby several well known poets like Ki no Tsurayuki. Unlike the Man yЕЌshЕ«, the KokinshЕ«

written by its compilers or poets. The Man yЕЌshЕ« and the KokinshЕ« also had different poetic
forms, styles, and themes. While the majority of waka in both collections were tanka (short poems),
the Man yЕЌshЕ« contained much more chЕЌka (long poems) and sedЕЌka (head repeated poems)

The previous executive order also included Iraq, but was dropped due to the state s significant role

for the purpose of stronger security in the U.S. But, there are a few flaws in this ban, like the fact
that the none of the six countries have committed a terrorist act on U.S. soil in the past 40 years

Analysis Of The Book The Of The Woods Essay
The following cool spring night, Arthur roamed the woods on foot. He d planned to take his
horse so he could cover more ground, but decided against that, as going to the stables and saddling
up would draw more attention. It was easier for him to slip out of the castle under the cover of
darkness.
He had to find Guinevere. But how?
In his chainmail, Arthur jogged through the woods, taking in the surroundings, which was difficult,
considering the only light shone down from a half moon covered with haze. Still, Arthur knew
these woods well and navigated the paths with relative ease.
However, finding a new trace of Guinevere was another matter. Sir Perceval was an excellent
tracker. If Arthur could enlist the knight s help, he might find clues about Guinevere s location. But
revealing his task to anyone was out of the question. That would involve confessing he was torn up
over the fact he d banished Guinevere, and his heart bled with misery over missing her. Arthur had
experienced battle many times and faced terrifying foes. But the soul shredding pain of losing
Guinevere hurt the most. Though Arthur trusted Percival more than most of his knights, the king
would not divulge his innermost feelings to the man. Arthur would find Guinevere without help.
Now rushing through the brush at a jog, Arthur searched for any detail that might help footprints,
snapped branches, a shred of cloth, the scent of recently burned wood anything that might alert him

Garibaldi Unification Essay
The background on Risorgimento and Giuseppi Garibaldi s role in the unification of Italy sparked
my curiosity about the impact unification had on national and regional identities in Italy, and the
effect these identities have on the way the world perceives the people of Italy as opposed to the
way they see each other. It seems to me that Garibaldi and the unification process must have had a
profound effect on the people of Italyand the way they see themselves fitting into the nationstate as
a whole. I would imagine that many of these questions do not have clear answers, but rather
complicated explanations that lead to even more questioning. With Garibaldi s movement spreading

Another interesting way of looking at Italian identities from an international perspective is
examining the way other nations see Italy as having either distinct regional differences or a
larger collective identity. If there are so many different regional identities, where did the Italian
identity known in the United States come from? If each region has their own culture, how can
we claim to know Italian food, music, art, or any other cultural element? I would imagine that
much of the food in an area of Italy is dependent on what is produced in that region of the nation,
and therefore could not be encompassed by the umbrella of Italian food. I know that many Italian
foods are named after the region where they are produced, such as parmigiano and Marsala wine,
thus preserving some of the regional identity in the name. So where did this larger culture come
from, is what we know as Italian food really the food from a specific region or something else
entirely?
It would be interesting to study how this national identity emerged over time, and does its presence
mean that some people no longer care about their regional loyalty? I would expect that as
generations become further and further removed from the time before unification, more and more
people would identify more with Italy on a national scale rather than their specific regions. Yet, in
many places regional pride and

Apathy To Empathy
Moving from Apathy to Empathy
Apathy in general, is defined as: indifference, lack of interest, or concern for others. More
specifically, the dis ability to identify with others or feel their pain is the primary nature of those
who are strong on apathy.
Empathy, in contrast, is defined as having compassion and sympathy towards others to the extent of
being able to relate with them and their pains. Empathy is, also the ability to understand or feel what
the other person is experiencing or going through. It is the ability to step into the shoes of another
person, with the aim to understand their feelings and perspectives, and then to use that
understanding to guide our actions. That differentiates it from kindness or pity. Additionally,

We all usually have assumptions about others. That prevents us from appreciating their
individuality. We need to shelve our assumptions and accept the differences.
Thirdly, we can expand our empathy by gaining direct experience of other people s lives, putting
into practice the proverb: Walk a mile in another man s shoes, before you criticise him .
There are two more traits required for being an empathic person. One of them is, to master the art
of listening. It is essential, that we have the ability to listen to what is really going on within the
other person, and to the unique feelings and needs the other person is experiencing in that very
moment. An empathic person will listen hard to others and do all he can to grasp their emotional
state and needs.
When it comes to listening, it is quite important to look and grasp even the non verbal cues that will
enable us to truly understand other person s emotional state of mind. It indirectly initiates an

This personality test came out to be valid, measures what is says it measures, because it
describes a lot about my personality. According to the test my percentage for introvert ranged
from 83% 94%, meaning I don t really socialize or get out much. A few years ago, there was a
vehicle accident in front of our house. I used to live in front of the highway so we ve seen many
accidents, especially during the winter, but this time was worse than all of the others. It was
around 1 a.m. when I heard a lot of banging coming from outside. I already knew it was an
accident, so I hurried and put my shoes on then ran outside. My mother and brothers were
already outside looking towards the accident. Once I seen it I ran towards the vehicle and
helped those that I could. There was a man in the back seat that was already in heaven, bless his
soul, but a lady kept doing CPR while he was sitting up. Another gentleman was on the floor in
critical condition so I did everything that I could to keep him still and comfortable until the
paramedics arrived. It was a crazy experience because that what my first time seeing a person die
covered in blood. I just reacted without thinking, a big rush of adrenaline took over, and pushed
my emotions back. Having this experience is what made up my mind about becoming a nurse.
Helping people in need is something I focus on to get through and not give up. Which is why I
think the test is valid, no one thought I would be the one to run towards the

Why Is Charles Kane A Good Person
I believe that Charles Foster Kane could ve been a good person, but ended going down the
wrong path. He was given a large sum of money when he became an adult, but in return basically
had his childhood stolen from him (Hughes). His mother wanted him to live the rich life instead
of in a little town where she was living and to eventually inherit her recently found fortune
(Hughes). When he was given this money, he let it take over his life and lost sense of how he
should behave. Because of this, I do not personally like Charles Kane due to how he let the money
affect his decisions.
I believe that the author portrays Charles Kane as sort of an evil man through the things he does,
but shows that Kane doesn t realize how he is behaving is wrong. One example of this would be
how he ran his newspaper company the New York Inquirer (Citizen Kane). He presented the news
in the best way possible to get as many people as he could to read it. Even if he had to lie a little
bit in the title or in the actual stories, all he cared about was being everyone s main source of
news. This however was the opposite of what he originally wanted to do which was to present
only honest and true news. One time he lied about the news was in relation to his second wife

However, Thatcher and Kane never fully see eye to eye and a bond is never really formed
between them. When Charles went into the newspaper business, his true colors were shown by
something he did in regard to Thatcher. Walter Thatcher was a banker, so Kane wrote in the
newspaper attacking the baking business in an attempt to get back at Thatcher for taking him from
his family (Citizen Kane). This shows that Kane wasn t a very good person because Thatcher tried
his hardest to get Charles to like him, but was never successful in doing

This act imposes strict requirements on a man who is looking for a mail order bride in a foreign
country. Under the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act, the man (groom) who intends
to marry needs to provide the broker with certain information such as; personal, financial,
criminal arrest record, number of previous marriages, and number of children. (US Legal) The
International Marriage Broker Regulation Act (IMBRA) provides a strict set of rules for the men
who are wanting to marry women from other countries, such as Russia, when using the services of
an international marriage broker. Under these regulations, men that are interested in marrying
women from other countries who use a marriage broker must also provide the prospective bride
with highly personal information as well. (HG.ORG) The regulations are intended to help women
from foreign countries, because they are at a disadvantage . Some people with argue that these
rules are too invasive and some argue that information that is so depth would not be made
available to a woman in the United States entering into a mail order bride marriage in another

rules and regulations are to protect the safety and rights of foreign women. Typically their

John D Rockeffeller
What makes John D. Rockefeller an effective leader?
In his decades of business, one of the key characteristics that propelled Rockefeller to success
was his strong leadership abilities. It wasn t his status, nor his age that made Rockefeller a great
leader. Instead, it was his influence. People around him wanted to follow him; they were inspired
by him to do more than they ever thought they were capable of. It was his ability to create a strong
sense of teamwork and his own energy and passion that drove his workers and thus his company.
We can say he was a leader according to the leadership framework: Be, Know, Do:

In the fight against independents pipelines, armed men defended land bought by Rockefeller on the
planned way of the pipelines.
What type of leadership did he use?
It appears that, to lead his company, Rockefeller used one type of leadership to lead the workers
inside the company and for the commercial practices. In both case, it was an autocratic and
directive style of leadership. Even if Rockefeller seemed very close to his employees and knew how
to motivate and reward them, he did not trust them at all. He saw his relationship with them as
transactional, one of competing needs. However, he rarely made important decisions without
seeking debate and achieving a common mind among his key associates, foreshadowing the
consensus management
For his commercial practices, he used too an autocratic leadership. His most flagrant sin was the
ruthlessness with which he crushed competitors. For every competitor who became to be
dangerous for his business, Rockefeller used all the above practices to reduce them to nothing, or he
extended the olive branch to vanquished rivals, buying out their companies and drawing them into
his organization, making at least some of them richer than they could have been on their own. This
was not generosity but the mechanism whereby he expanded Standard Oil into a monopoly.
The Rockefeller s underlying characteristics that helped him to raise the top:

Theme Of A Narrow Fellow In The Grass By Emily Dickinson

Larisa Platt
ENG 102 02
23 October 2014
Happiness is a Mystery Happiness is found everywhere throughout the entire world. Happiness is
within everybody emotionally because it keeps someone in a good mood. It is important to stay
happy because that person can be able to live longer. In addition, when someone can think of
happiness, they can think of nature. However, when comparing, Nature is what we see and A
Narrow Fellow in the Grass by Emily Dickinson (650 652), she symbolize here emotion towards
nature mysteriously, theoretically, and factual. First, Dickinson describes nature mysteriously. The
narrator is explaining about what a person can see outside in the world. In the beginning of the
story, the poem explains about her love and gratitude towards nature. Dickinson continues the
poem by picking out certain things. The Hill the Afternoon, / Squirrel Eclipse the Bumble Bee,
/ The Bobolink the Sea, / Thunder the Cricket (650). Therefore, she sees a hill, a bobolink, a

A Theory of Justice by John Rawls
Original Position John Rawls discusses the original position in his book A Theory of Justice.
The Original Position and Justification is a chapter where Rawls persuades his readers into
taking the original position seriously. The original position is a position where people are equal
and are rational in order to make principles that they live by fair. However, there is a problem with
rational decisions being biased, where people will choose principles to benefit themselves.
Therefore, the veil of ignorance will restrict a person s knowledge about social status, intelligence,
gender, race, ethnicity, and temperament. This will then define principles of justicethat will not be
advantage or a disadvantage to anyone in a society. Keeping this in mind, the purpose of this essay
is to explain the reasons Rawls gives to favor the original position. I will then oppose to Rawls
argument with two of my own reasons about the veil of ignorance not being realistic and the equal
of humanbeings not being plausible. Rawls first reason to take the original position seriously is
that everyone recognizes the original position as reasonable. In order to consider a principle fair,
one must be rational with certain limitations so, it would not advantage or disadvantage any one
else. For example, if a man knew he would become wealthy, he would find the principle of
various taxes for welfare to be unjust. This would be the same if a man was poor and would
consider the same principle just.

Things Fall Apart
A nation s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people ( Mahatma Gandhi Quotes 1).
The culture of a certain tribe, clan or group of people is not found written anywhere but it is found
in the knowledge of its people because that is what they ve grown up to learn. To them that is the
only way they know. In Chinua Achebes book, Things Fall Apart, the people of Umuofia keep their
culture close to what it was when it was discovered by their ancestors. The only changes that
they made were made to fit the community as time had changed since their ancestors had been
alive. However, their beliefs and morals remained relatively the same because that is what they
have been taught for as long as the Ibo tribe has been around. These beliefs are all they know and
they all live by them. Throughout Achebe s piece, it is evident that he wants to emphasize the
distinct Ibo culture in this book. In Things Fall Apart, Achebe stresses the importance of culture to
a community by using cultural aspects such as, the Ibo language, their religion, and the traditions
of the Ibo people. Although most of this book is in english, Achebe uses the Ibo language to keep
the identity of the culture. By using this language it shows that the people of this tribe use these
words to create a sense of community between the people. All of the words that are in the Ibo
language have a definition specific to the beliefs of their culture. Most of the men of the tribe had a
title of some kind. If

St. Lucy s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves is a collection of short stories. The story that is in

of wild girls to act like civilized girls. They have a five stage procedure that is supposed to follow

They all were trying to do small talk with each other but it seemed awkward. When the nuns
called out that it is time for the dance that they were learning, Claudette tried to scurry away and
hide in the corner that Mirabella was in because she did not wanted to be in the spot light. Kyle,
one of the brothers, ended up pushing her into the spotlight. Standing in the spotlight, Claudette
forgot everything she learned and only remembered how to act like her old wild self. This
shows that no matter how hard the nuns try to reeducate wild girls to be civilized girls, there
will always be a part in them that will remain wild for the rest of their life. When she threw of
her shoes and howled for help, the only one that came for help was Mirabella who chewed
through her restraints to help her. Mirabella jumped on her back and started growling at imaginary
predators. In her mind, Claudette was grateful for Mirabella s help and thought that she never
loved her more than in that moment. This shows that Claudette still is a wild girl in some parts
since she admitted that she still loved Mirabella which in a way shows that she still thinks that she
belongs to the pack. Earlier in the story, shortly after she started getting used to the new lifestyle
she said that she hated Mirabella. But Claudette doesn t thanks Mirabella for her help but rather
blames her for ruining the dance.

Pros and Cons of Legalising Marijuana
Cannabis is becoming increasingly widespread and increasingly common in modern day society for
both recreational use and for medication. The article by Craig Reinarman, Criminalisation,
legalisation and the mixed blessing of medicalisation in the USA generates many controversial
issues of cannabis.
The two sided debate between embracing medical use of the drug through the therapeutic benefits
and the link between cannabis and psychosis is explored. This issues also stems the question of
the legitimacy of legalisation and criminalisation of cannabis and how key concepts are raised
including moral entrepreneur and social locus . In today s society as cannabis is becoming
increasingly normalised , the theory that cannabis is a gateway drug also arises.
Despite the current marijuana laws, medical research has shown a variety of therapeutic benefits
that arise from the use of cannabis. (Gowling et al. 1998, p. 446)) Revealed that Over the years,
cannabis has been claimed to increase appetite, relax the muscle, improve mood, relieve anxiety
and combat pain and nausea . As a result of these advantages, medical marijuana advocates support
and has pushed for the legalisation of cannabis. However, it is argued that harmful effects can arise,
demonstrating an association between cannabis with psychosis. Psychosis is a condition of the
mind, involving a loss of contact with reality . Hall (1998) stipulated that A high doses of

John Hus Essay
John Hus was born in Husinec, an area of the modern day Czech Republic. He joined the
priesthood in order to escape poverty, and was eventually the preacher at one of the most popular
church s in Prague. Hus was inspired by the writings of John Wycliffe, as well as many of his
colleagues at the University of Prague, and this caused a major split between the Czech s and
Germans who studied at the university. Hus and his faction of Bohemians wanted to expand the
power of church councils, and decrease the power of the Pope, as well as focus on a moral reform of
the clergy, due to the abuses of power that were beginning to take place. Hus focused his teachings
and sermons on the Scriptures, similar to how John Wycliffe had. Due to the effects... Show more

Without their contributions towards idea of reformation, what people see today could be a lot
different. However, it was not just those two men who gave birth to a new age of reasoning and
thought. Men such as Petrarch founded a completely different school of thought than what
Wycliffe and Hus had started with their dissentions. Petrarch delved into the lost classics,
literature of antiquity, and rediscovered many things that were lost when Rome fell in the 5th
century. He is considered the founder of Humanism, a school of thought that allowed for the
return of the pagan classics and the philosophy of secularism. Above all things Humanism is
considered the assertion of a man or woman s personal independence and expression. The idea
that Humanism was one of the major reasons for the causes of the reformation is one that is not
often put forth. However, if Humanism is broken down into its simplest form, it is the idea that a
man can challenge what he sees before him, and indulge in knowledge outside the scripture,
however much John Hus and Wycliffe suffered for the people s right to follow the Scripture.
Because of the beliefs of Petrarch, and his rediscovery of the lost classics, people were able to
gravitate away from the Scripture that had dominated their lives and dictated how they lived their

Columbia River Tribe
For more than 10,000 years the Native American people of the Columbia River region,
specifically the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Indian tribes, migrated in a yearly cyclical
pattern. The tribes would travel from the lowlands of the Columbia River to the highlands in the
Blue Mountains in search of safety, shelter, food, opportunities for trade and resources of energy.
The most abundant sources of food included elk, deer, salmon, berries and roots. Each of the
aforementioned food sources were spread throughout different locales and thus required a continued
pattern of movement, place to place from season to season, to collect each target food.
Accumulated meats, berries and roots would be stored for the year to come, and to last through...

Similarities Between Paley And Paleey
Paley states that if a person were to go on a walk and along the way they found a rock, they could
infer or assume that the rock could have been there forever and have not though any more about it.
However, if a person found a watch (a quaint watch with springs and with cogs) you can observe
that it has parts that move which can show:
That the watch was designed for a particular purpose: To tell the time
That the parts of the watch work together for its purpose and they fit
That the parts of the watch are ordered in such a way that it will allow the watch to function
If the watch and its parts that make it function are arranged differently then it will not work and
hence it will not achieve its purpose.

  • 2. How Democratic Is The American Constitution Written By... In the book How Democratic Is the American Constitution written by Robert A. Dahl, it shows us a deeper understanding of how the complexities of when and how the ideals of the American democracy were framed. This book also shows us that this amazing document was created in a way that many of us wouldn t have thought of. Throughout the book Dahl takes us on an incredible adventure through America s beginning years, as far back as the Constitutional Convention in 1787. One of the first things that is mentioned in the book is that the democracy that we have is not a static system but rather it has been changed and still continues to change to this day over the years since it has been completed. Many of the authors that helped to contribute to completing the Constitutionalso had a change of views as the years went by after the document s completion. For example, Dahl mentions that James Madison, who was thirty six years old at the time, had not fully finalized his ideas for the constitution, mainly towards suffrage and majority rules. Due to this, couple of years later Madison published a series of multiple essays that contain ideas and steps to take that could help overcome the possible threats of political parties. In 1821 Madison wrote The right of suffrage is a fundamental Article in Republican Constitutions (Dahl, 2001, p. 35). This book is a great read for a better and deeper understanding of early political science that is written in a great style that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Environmental, Strategic, And Organizational Changes... 1. Discuss the environmental, strategic, and organizational changes that occurred over the life of Andersen in the context of Figure 11.1. The architectural design of a firm varies greatly. In 1950, the business environment of Arthur Andersen included using the computer effectively for automated bookkeeping. Structure and regulation of the markets, helped Arthur Andersen to develop into a well respected and reputable auditing company. The federal law in the 1930s requiring companies to turn over their financial statements yearly to an independent auditor not only strengthened Arthur Andersen, but also helped with their impeccable reputation. Arthur Andersen s strategy included quality audits with a well managed staff and profits. Promotions and rewards were plentiful when auditors made sound auditing decisions. In the 1990s, Arthur Andersen s organizational architecture and strategy focused on generating new business, cost cutting, and performance evaluations along with decision rights over its business (Brickley, Smith, Zimmerman, 2009). 2. Evaluate Andersen s claim that their problems on the Enron audit were due to a few bad partners in the organization. If you disagree with this claim, discuss what you think were the root causes of the problem. I do not believe Andersen s claim. I believe that they had full knowledge of what was happening at Enron. I believe that Enron was paying off the auditors (staffers) in the Houston office. I believe they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. I Am A Safe Haven At Your Hands Imagine having a safe haven at your hands, any time of the day. It is 2013, and I am in seventh grade. I am scrolling through Twitter in my dark room when I come across a page called Buddy Project, and decide to read into it. As I am reading, with the light from my phone illuminating my face, I find out that it s a nonprofit organization that pairs you with a person. It is meant to help you deal with an eating disorder, self harm, suicidal thoughts, and mental illnesses. I am seeing all of this information and I know I need to join the project. It was that one day in November that changed my life forever. I remember my heart racing when I was paired with my first buddy. I found out that her name was Abby; she was dealing with an eating disorder and suspected she was depressed. We both hadn t gotten help at this point, so it wasn t truly beneficial. Pain and darkness were consuming our lives, but speaking up didn t seem like an option. The next year, 2014, I met two new people. Their names were Danielle and Jay. Again, mutual effort was being made, but nobody got the help they needed yet. I saw blood curdling messages, but I knew it was my job to help as best as I could. I felt like I was drowning and gasping for air, but my main priority was the other people. Even though there was a disclaimer that says not to use the project as a replacement for getting help, that is what so many people did. Trying to help someone who wouldn t get professional help is the type of thing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Cause And Consequences Of Homelessness In The United States Homelessness As I drove through the streets of New Orleans I constantly see homeless people sleeping in tents under the overpass on Claiborne Avenue commonly named tent city . I wondered what were the psychological reasons of those that ended up homeless, the statistics, causes, and consequences of homelessnesscombined with the effect it has on society. There are various reasons that homelessness exists in the United States, the most common reason is due to a lack of affordable housing. Homelessness is more predominant in urban areas than in rural regions of the U.S. According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, approximately 578,424 people were identified as homeless in the United States as of January 2014. Homelessness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These sudden and unfortunate events displaced millions of people and led to an even larger increase in the homeless population. The Great Depression in 1929 was another catastrophic event in American history that led to major economic hardships for millions of citizens that further propelled homelessness. Although these historical events are from the past the residual effects are impacting the U.S. society and culture today. Slavery was a part of the United States since the beginning of the American Revolution, which placed a racial division between the whites and blacks. Although slavery was abolished during the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, the effects of racism lingered continuously and are sadly still affecting many African Americans today in certain ways. After World War II, America improved greatly; in terms of economic wealth. This was a time of financial prosperity and innovative technological advancements. Caucasians in America benefitted greatly from the country s newfound wealth; however African Americans were not so lucky. They found themselves segregated from the whites and prohibited from certain rights. Some of these rights involved housing and employment opportunities. While the Caucasians in the U.S. had access to their preferred employment and housing, African Americans and other minorities were not granted these same rights. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Twilight Moms, By Stephenie Meyer s Twilight Books And... Living in the United States in 2016, one is familiar with the fandom spurred from Stephenie Meyer s Twilight books and the subsequent Twilight movies. Twilight Moms, a controversial sector of the fandom composed of adult female fans, have garnered attention in recent years. One of the most well known photographs of TwilightMoms captures the fans emotions at a 2009 TwilightEvent (Buckner). However, what strikes viewers most is not the emotions of the women, but rather their age; the subjects of the image are not tweens and teens, but adult women. The visual rhetoric argues that Twilight s appeal is not exclusive to young adults; it also encompasses older women. The media claims that Twilight Moms are anti feminist women who refuse to grow up. However, the media s biased accusations are simply not true. In all reality, Twilight Moms are a group of women that relate to Twilight s protagonist and seek bonding experiences with their daughters as well as an escape from the monotony of everyday life. So what exactly constitutes a Twilight Mom? The term Twilight Moms was first coined in December of 2007 when Lisa Hansen launched the Twilight Moms MySpace page (Brodesser akner). According to Hansen, she originally created Twilight Moms for married women and mothers; however, that definition has since changed (Hare). Today, Twilight Moms is a more inclusive group consisting of any female fan of Twilight beyond her teen years. Because Twilight Moms are grown women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Next, the 20% w /v solutions of each substrate were created. For glucose, 10 grams of glucose (obtained from VWR International /BDH, item # BDH0230) was measured and added to 50 mL of distilled water in the beaker labeled glucose. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This accounts for accurate carbon dioxide measurements. The flasks were placed in a water bath set to 37 degrees Celsius. After five minutes, the level of the solution in each flask was marked with a sharpie. These five minutes allowed the contents of the flask to equilibrate. The space above the solution was the amount of carbon dioxide produced from alcoholic fermentation. The carbon dioxide collected at the top of the flask was possible because it is a gas and therefore escapes the solution after it is produced. This amount of carbon dioxide collection at the top of each flask was used to determine the rate of fermentation by measuring the amount of carbon dioxide in the flask over time. The amount of carbon dioxide measured from the first mark on each flask was recorded as the initial reading. A new mark of the level of the solution was made every five minutes until the time reached 20 minutes. Then, the levels of carbon dioxide at each time interval were recorded according to the position of the mark which corresponded with that time. The procedure was repeated one more time with six new fermentation flasks. This resulted in two recorded accounts of the amount of carbon dioxide produced in each flask. Abortion for minors is a major public health concern in the United States. There are more than 300,000 births to teens each year, increasing the risk of both the mother and the baby s health. Abortions on minors have raised political, clinical, social, and economic awareness. In order to make effective changes to abortionfor the minor one must produce empirical evidence, to evaluate policy options for persons involved in public health policy and legislation. Most States are now being applying the parental involvement of one or more parent to be notified or consent before a minor daughter legally has an abortion. Some states require one of two types of parental involvement, which involves notifying one or both Parent. So far about 38 states now required some type of parental involvement in a minor s decision to have an abortion. Out of these 38 states, 21 of the states require one or both parents to give consent to the procedure, 12 require one or both parents be notified and 5 require both consent and notification before an elective abortion can occur. Three of these require both parents to consent. The parental involvement laws from the Court have clarified the legal position on abortion regulation making it difficult for a female goes for an abortion. (Guttmacher, 2013). In Texas, the parental notification and consent laws had an effect on birth and abortion rates for minors with notification laws reducing birth and abortion rate with the 16 17 year old females. • 10. Analysis Of The Poem Caged Bird By Maya Angelou The poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou tells the story of two birds: one bird has the luxury of freedom and the second bird lives its life caged and maltreated by an unknown tyrant. Maya Angelou wrote this poem during the Civil Rights Era, the period when black activists in the 1950 s and 1960 s fought for desegregation of African Americans. This poem parallels the oppression that African Americans were fighting during this time period. In Caged Bird , Angelou builds a strong contrast that shows the historical context of discrimination and segregation through the use of mood, symbolism, and theme. The mood of Caged Bird changes drastically from stanza to stanza. Angelou s specific diction choices help to reflect the change from being positive to negative with some elements of hope involved. The parts of the poem involving the free bird provide the reader with a feeling of self government. In contrast, the mood associated with the caged bird is confinment. Despite the negative mood tied to the caged bird there are still elements of hope woven into these stanzas. The first stanza of the poem introduce the free bird. Angelou uses words such as leaps . . . and floats (Line 1 3) in description of this character s movements. These actions relate directly to moving without restrictions. The words leaped and floats are contradicted immediately in the second stanza as Angelou brings the caged bird into the picture. Angelou uses diction that complements confinement ... • 11. Differences Between Oda And The Marshall Plan After over four decades of development aid being directed at developing countries, the general assumption of commentators around the subject is that the majority of these recipients have witnessed very little or no economic growth, apart from a handful of countries such as South Korea and Botswana (Easterly, 2006). Further highlighting this point, Clemens (2004) observes that only five countries saw annual growth of over 7% over a 15 year period whilst 21 other recipients actually suffered negative growth the same 15 year period, 1985 2000. To put this data in perspective, the Marshall Plan worked in a similar manner to Official Development Aid(ODA), yet spent a fraction of the amount given to developing countries and successfully rebuilt Europe after World War 2. There are differences between ODA and the Marshall Plan; the Marshall Plan promoted business sector development through economic functions, whereas ODA has primarily targeted government led growth and social service development. Yet, the point still remains that ODA can be regarded as a failure given the comparison with the Marshall Plan and the economic data observed from ODA (Gibson et al, 2009). This has called into question the strategies and potential of development aid to successfully deliver its official aim of improving the economic conditions and welfare of developing countries through a top down, government approach (DAC). Emerging from this argument is the rise of the Microfinance Industry (MFI), a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It isn t much, but the power in these words is what keeps this country free. It s what keeps the people in this country safe. Everyone has their own opinion on the subject, but the facts show that the right to bear arms benefits this country more than it hurts. We should have more carrying rights in places like college campuses in order to help prevent crimes and stop sexual assaults on campus. For example, a student at the University of Nevada, Amanda Collins, was sexually assaulted and raped on campus in a parking garage. She had a concealed carry permit so that she could protect herself, but since she was on campus, she wasn t allowed to carry her firearm for self defence. In turn, her assailant, James Biela, was able to take advantage of her, hold a gun on her and rape her. If she would have been able to carry her firearm, she would have been able to stop her attacker. Her attacker went on to rape two more women and kill one of them before he was caught. That all could have been avoided if Ms. Collins was allowed to have her firearm with her on campus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. Nelson Mandela s Leadership Qualities Introduction Nelson Mandela (Mandela) is a figurehead for the equality of people not only in South Africa, but also around the globe. Mandela has played many important roles throughout his life and although initially leading by being a pacifist, he has changed roles over time to lead as a revolutionary, a prisoner and a president. Many prominent leaders throughout time have established routes in time by effectively changing perceptions and Mandela is one of these leaders. This paper examines the journey in which Mandela embarked and will identify Mandela s leadership qualities and styles throughout his journey to becoming President of South Africa. Although Mandela exhibits many different leadership qualities, one can make a statement that Mandela is a transformative leader, in that he exhibits various characteristics of six distinct leadership perspectives. Mandela can be seen as any particular type of these six leadership perspectives, but this paper will analyze the extent of these leadership qualities and how they have impacted the life of Mandela and the world. For the purpose of this paper, the distinct variance of whether Mandela was a freedom fighter or a terrorist will not be examined, but may make for an interesting distinction. This paper will ultimately determine Mandela s leadership qualities and styles to conclude whether Mandela can be seen as a prominent and effective leader. Aime Cesaire s A Tempest Clarifies Shakespeare s The Tempest Cesaire s A Tempest Clarifies Shakespeare s The Tempest Negritude, originally a literary and ideological movement of French speaking black intellectuals, reflects an important and comprehensive reaction to the colonial situation of European colonization (Carlberg). This movement, which influenced Africans as well as blacks around the world, specifically rejects the political, social, and moral domination of the West. Leopold Senghor, Leon Damas, and Aime Cesaire are the three pioneers of the revolution. Prospero becomes the ruler of the only other two inhabitants of the island, Caliban and Ariel. Cesaire uses the same series of events, but confronts his readers with the unpleasant realities of slavery in the Americas (Allison). While Prospero is cast in the role of a White slave owner, the natives, Ariel and Caliban, are transformed into his black slaves. The presence of race in the play is also displayed when Cesaire exposes the feeble, racist, stereotypes many Whites propagate about Blacks (Dayan 134). When referring to Caliban s living quarters, Prospero says, It wouldn t be such a ghetto if you took the trouble to keep it clean (Cesaire 13). Such a statement is clearly racist and plays into the stereotypes many Whites have about Blacks, and also makes the presence of race in Cesaire s play more obvious. Another aspect of Cesaire s play that proves it is written from the African American perspective of colonization is the language used. The Tempest is written, obviously, in Shakespearean language, a European form which is sometimes difficult for the modern reader to understand. There is not one part of industry present in today s society that can be examined without coming across some type of reference or dependence upon the steam engine. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thurston. The idea using the power of steam to our advantage goes back nearly twenty one centuries. A learned writer in ancient Alexandria, named Hero, wrote a manuscript describing various devices and ideas of the time. Although it is not proven that Hero was the inventor of any of these devices, he is given credit for the earliest mention of steam power. Hero describes a method to open the doors of a temple with the action of a fire on the alter at the front of the temple. A series of pipes runs between the alter and the temple doors. The force of the steam created by the fire on the alter is strong enough to open the temple doors. The essential principle that Hero used was to change heat energy into mechanical energy or work. Supposedly, Hero continued his work and ended up creating what is often called the First Steam Engine. Hero s engine is featured on below on the right. The cauldron or bowl like portion AB holds water. There is a steam tight cover place over top of the cauldron. Two pipes extend from the lid and suspend a globe directly above the cauldron. The water is heated, causing steam to be created and forced through the pipes. The globe then fills with steam. Pipes K and H are located on opposite sides of the globe and allow the steam to escape when the pressure becomes uneven. The escaping steam then causes the globe to spin on its axis. The power ... • 19. Analysis Of The Book Diary Of A Madman Lu Xun was one of the first prominent writers of modern china. He uses an ironic technique in the preface by writing in classical Chinese language to suggest a false, friendly world made exclusively by social appearances. The traditional Chinese text is typically seen as superior, and as per the Chinese traditions the modern language is seen as an intruder. The author s use of the style was a way of making a point. Diary of a Madman is a short story written by Lu Xun and was published in the new youth magazine in 1918 (231). The story demonstrates his discontent with traditional Chinese culture, not only by the fact that it clearly addresses the horror of cannibalism that is believed to have occurred but he is also trying to point out the oppressive nature of Confucian principles. In the short novel, the madman has the ability to recognize the cruel elements of Chinese Confucian culture that serves to mock established but out dated traditional scholarship. In the story Diary of a Madman, the protagonist of the diary talks about his how he thinks other people perceive him. He sees that the individuals are giving him abnormal looks; as though they were attempting to scare him or as though he had perpetrated some serious crime. The health coach performs many functions such as manual chart reviews, auditing emergency room (ER) visits and hospital discharges for transitions of care, health coaching individuals with chronic diseases to help them effectively manage their illness, and identifying gaps in care that need to be closed. Today we will explore an avenue to reconstruct this position and potential changes to the reward system that is in place to increase productivity and job satisfaction. The health coach performs multiple activities that currently require the coach to manual pull data from the electronic medical record, EHR. With this redesigned approach the health coach would no longer complete chart reviews as the EHR that is currently used throughout the clinics have a patient manager section that includes all of the information that is being manual extracted for the chart reviews. Also, instead of the health coach manually pulling data, such as who has been in the ER five or more times in the past year, set up a report that will run automatically on a monthly basis for the coach to review. Here we have assembled relevant information on the role of SNAP in the nutrition of Americans, and areas where there is room for improvement. Many critics of the SNAP program have accused it of encouraging unhealthy eating habits among its participants and contributing to increasing rates of obesity in the United States. Such critics believe that the mere distribution of food assistance leads SNAP recipients to buy more food, which results in higher consumption among the SNAP population. • 34. Man’yЕЌshЕ« vs. KokinshЕ« and Their Significance The Man yЕЌshЕ« and the KokinshЕ« are perhaps among the most revered and earliest collections of Japanese poetry. The Man yЕЌshЕ«, meaning Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves (or Generations), is believed to be compiled by the poet ЕЊtomo no Yakamochi sometime after AD 759 during the Nara Period. It contains over 4,000 poems, mostly tanka, that date before the end of the eighth century, and the writings are somewhat divided chronologically into four periods. Almost two centuries later, the Kokin wakashЕ« or KokinshЕ«, meaning Collection of Poems Ancient and Modern, was compiled under the imperial command of Emperor Daigo in AD 905 during the Heian Periodby several well known poets like Ki no Tsurayuki. The Man yЕЌshЕ« and the KokinshЕ« also had different poetic forms, styles, and themes. While the majority of waka in both collections were tanka (short poems), the Man yЕЌshЕ« contained much more chЕЌka (long poems) and sedЕЌka (head repeated poems) than the KokinshЕ«, which only contained about ten of these altogether (Miner, 161, 163). By the time of the KokinshЕ« s compilation in the Heian Period, both chЕЌka and sedЕЌka had greatly decreased in popularity. This order also bans all refugees from coming into the United Statesfor 120 days for the purpose of stronger security in the U.S. But, there are a few flaws in this ban, like the fact that the none of the six countries have committed a terrorist act on U.S. soil in the past 40 years (Gibbs). He d planned to take his horse so he could cover more ground, but decided against that, as going to the stables and saddling up would draw more attention. It was easier for him to slip out of the castle under the cover of darkness. He had to find Guinevere. But how? In his chainmail, Arthur jogged through the woods, taking in the surroundings, which was difficult, considering the only light shone down from a half moon covered with haze. Still, Arthur knew these woods well and navigated the paths with relative ease. However, finding a new trace of Guinevere was another matter. Sir Perceval was an excellent tracker. If Arthur could enlist the knight s help, he might find clues about Guinevere s location. But revealing his task to anyone was out of the question. That would involve confessing he was torn up over the fact he d banished Guinevere, and his heart bled with misery over missing her. Arthur had experienced battle many times and faced terrifying foes. But the soul shredding pain of losing Guinevere hurt the most. Though Arthur trusted Percival more than most of his knights, the king would not divulge his innermost feelings to the man. Arthur would find Guinevere without help. It seems to me that Garibaldi and the unification process must have had a profound effect on the people of Italyand the way they see themselves fitting into the nationstate as a whole. If there are so many different regional identities, where did the Italian identity known in the United States come from? If each region has their own culture, how can we claim to know Italian food, music, art, or any other cultural element? I would imagine that much of the food in an area of Italy is dependent on what is produced in that region of the nation, and therefore could not be encompassed by the umbrella of Italian food. I know that many Italian foods are named after the region where they are produced, such as parmigiano and Marsala wine, thus preserving some of the regional identity in the name. So where did this larger culture come from, is what we know as Italian food really the food from a specific region or something else entirely? It would be interesting to study how this national identity emerged over time, and does its presence mean that some people no longer care about their regional loyalty? I would expect that as generations become further and further removed from the time before unification, more and more people would identify more with Italy on a national scale rather than their specific regions. The Original Position and Justification is a chapter where Rawls persuades his readers into taking the original position seriously. The original position is a position where people are equal and are rational in order to make principles that they live by fair. However, there is a problem with rational decisions being biased, where people will choose principles to benefit themselves. Therefore, the veil of ignorance will restrict a person s knowledge about social status, intelligence, gender, race, ethnicity, and temperament. This will then define principles of justicethat will not be advantage or a disadvantage to anyone in a society. Keeping this in mind, the purpose of this essay is to explain the reasons Rawls gives to favor the original position. I will then oppose to Rawls argument with two of my own reasons about the veil of ignorance not being realistic and the equal of humanbeings not being plausible. Rawls first reason to take the original position seriously is that everyone recognizes the original position as reasonable. In order to consider a principle fair, one must be rational with certain limitations so, it would not advantage or disadvantage any one else. For example, if a man knew he would become wealthy, he would find the principle of various taxes for welfare to be unjust. The culture of a certain tribe, clan or group of people is not found written anywhere but it is found in the knowledge of its people because that is what they ve grown up to learn. To them that is the only way they know. In Chinua Achebes book, Things Fall Apart, the people of Umuofia keep their culture close to what it was when it was discovered by their ancestors. The only changes that they made were made to fit the community as time had changed since their ancestors had been alive. However, their beliefs and morals remained relatively the same because that is what they have been taught for as long as the Ibo tribe has been around. These beliefs are all they know and they all live by them. Throughout Achebe s piece, it is evident that he wants to emphasize the distinct Ibo culture in this book. Towards... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They all were trying to do small talk with each other but it seemed awkward. When the nuns called out that it is time for the dance that they were learning, Claudette tried to scurry away and hide in the corner that Mirabella was in because she did not wanted to be in the spot light. Kyle, one of the brothers, ended up pushing her into the spotlight. Standing in the spotlight, Claudette forgot everything she learned and only remembered how to act like her old wild self. This shows that no matter how hard the nuns try to reeducate wild girls to be civilized girls, there will always be a part in them that will remain wild for the rest of their life. When she threw of her shoes and howled for help, the only one that came for help was Mirabella who chewed through her restraints to help her. Mirabella jumped on her back and started growling at imaginary predators. In her mind, Claudette was grateful for Mirabella s help and thought that she never loved her more than in that moment. This shows that Claudette still is a wild girl in some parts since she admitted that she still loved Mirabella which in a way shows that she still thinks that she belongs to the pack. Earlier in the story, shortly after she started getting used to the new lifestyle she said that she hated Mirabella. But Claudette doesn t thanks Mirabella for her help but rather blames her for ruining the dance. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. John Hus Essay John Hus was born in Husinec, an area of the modern day Czech Republic. He joined the priesthood in order to escape poverty, and was eventually the preacher at one of the most popular church s in Prague. Hus was inspired by the writings of John Wycliffe, as well as many of his colleagues at the University of Prague, and this caused a major split between the Czech s and Germans who studied at the university. Hus and his faction of Bohemians wanted to expand the power of church councils, and decrease the power of the Pope, as well as focus on a moral reform of the clergy, due to the abuses of power that were beginning to take place. Hus focused his teachings and sermons on the Scriptures, similar to how John Wycliffe had. Due to the effects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without their contributions towards idea of reformation, what people see today could be a lot different. However, it was not just those two men who gave birth to a new age of reasoning and thought. Men such as Petrarch founded a completely different school of thought than what Wycliffe and Hus had started with their dissentions. Petrarch delved into the lost classics, literature of antiquity, and rediscovered many things that were lost when Rome fell in the 5th century. He is considered the founder of Humanism, a school of thought that allowed for the return of the pagan classics and the philosophy of secularism. Above all things Humanism is considered the assertion of a man or woman s personal independence and expression. The idea that Humanism was one of the major reasons for the causes of the reformation is one that is not often put forth. However, if Humanism is broken down into its simplest form, it is the idea that a man can challenge what he sees before him, and indulge in knowledge outside the scripture, however much John Hus and Wycliffe suffered for the people s right to follow the Scripture. Because of the beliefs of Petrarch, and his rediscovery of the lost classics, people were able to gravitate away from the Scripture that had dominated their lives and dictated how they lived their ... Columbia River Tribe For more than 10,000 years the Native American people of the Columbia River region, specifically the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Indian tribes, migrated in a yearly cyclical pattern. The tribes would travel from the lowlands of the Columbia River to the highlands in the Blue Mountains in search of safety, shelter, food, opportunities for trade and resources of energy. The most abundant sources of food included elk, deer, salmon, berries and roots. Each of the aforementioned food sources were spread throughout different locales and thus required a continued pattern of movement, place to place from season to season, to collect each target food. Accumulated meats, berries and roots would be stored for the year to come, and to last through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarities Between Paley And Paleey Paley states that if a person were to go on a walk and along the way they found a rock, they could infer or assume that the rock could have been there forever and have not though any more about it. However, if a person found a watch (a quaint watch with springs and with cogs) you can observe that it has parts that move which can show: That the watch was designed for a particular purpose: To tell the time That the parts of the watch work together for its purpose and they fit That the parts of the watch are ordered in such a way that it will allow the watch to function If the watch and its parts that make it function are arranged differently then it will not work and hence it will not achieve its purpose.
