Political Changes In The Progressive Era
The history of the United States shows an improvement in its civilization from its origin to the
present. From the independence of the U.S. to the Civil Rights Movement. However, the biggest
change occurred during the Progressive Era; a time period where new ways of thinking started to
develop towards a more fair country. The social aspect had the biggest impact followed by political
changes and some economical. The first political change happened when the muckrakers decided that
the political parties were corrupt and people in the business industry had too much saying in what the
government did. For that reason the muckrakers decided to go against the railroads, the primary
industry that exercised power over the government (Brinkley 478). This was known as the trust buster
regulation, where monopolies were seeing as unfair and corrupt business. Even though corruption was
reduced, the muckrakers also sought to take out power from the bosses, who ... Show more content on

Subsequently, the recall proposal came allowing voters to remove any official if sufficient voters had
signed a petition (484 485). Nevertheless to mention, the most remembered political movement of the
Progressive Era was Woman Suffrage. Women were part of the politics of the U.S. behind the scenes,
many of them proposed regulations to their husbands without getting recognition, but during the
Progressive Era, women were ready to change that. They founded clubs as the General Federation of
Women s Club (481). The suffrage movement started around the 1890 s but gained strength after a
decade. The argument wasn t that women were

Patrick Henry Speech Analysis
Introduction
When Patrick Henry gave his famous Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death speech he proved that pens
are indeed mightier than swords. That speech undoubtedly lead to the formation of the great nation
that we now live in today.
Patrick Henry was better at persuading his audience because he used a convincing combination
rhetorical questions and imagery. Patrick Henry s use of logical and emotional appeals to make his
audience believe in his cause. His purpose for speaking and his ambitious ideas also helped make his
speech stronger. Jonathan Edwards speech was good, but the fear that he instilled in his audience
crippled them instead of pushing them to action, like Henry s speech did.
Appeals
Emotional Appeals
Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? (Henry)
Henry is asking his audience if they would rather live a peaceful life of slavery or a life of freedom on
their own terms. This rhetorical question is impactful because Henry s audience is afraid of slavery,
they don t like the idea of being controlled by anyone. They know what the lives of their own slaves
are like and they fear being put in that position. This makes the audience want to heed Henry s advice
and go to war against Great Britain.
Logical Appeals
Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope (Henry)
Henry is telling his audience that there is nothing wrong with looking on the bright side, but they need
to open their eyes

Dbq Compare And Contrast Samurai And Knights
Samurai and knights always battling out in the battlefield. During this time both knights and samurai
were fighting for protection. Both were developing codes such as Chivalry and Bushido. Both had a
some sort of leader weather it s a shogun or a pope. Some historians will argue that samurai and
knights are more different than similar, but they are more similar than different. The samurai and
knights were more similar than different because they had similar armor and they had the same type of
social pyramid.
First of all the knights and samurai both wore armor. It states in document D that in samurai armor
they were put together with tiny iron scales. The knights had one big body suit of armor in one piece.
This means that the armor they

Toys R Us Vs Amazon Case Summary
CASE STUDY 1 1. In 2004, Toys R Us sued Amazon.com for violating terms of the agreement
between the companies; specifically, Toys R Us objected to Amazon.com s permitting Amazon
Marketplace retailers to sell toys (Note: when the lawsuit was filed, Amazon Marketplace was called
zShops ). Amazon.com responded by filing a countersuit. After more than two years of litigation, a
New Jersey Superior Court judge ruled that the agreement had been violated by both parties. The
judge ordered that the agreement be terminated and denied both companies claims for monetary
damages. Amazon.com appealed the ruling. In 2009, an appellate court affirmed the lower court ruling

Analysis Of The Article City Limits On Racial Equality
Desegregation: 1968 1976
The article City Limits on Racial Equality: The Effects of City Suburb Boundaries on Public School
Desegregation by David R. James(1989), discusses people s perceptions while choosing schools on
the basis of racial mix in students population of school. It is argued that public schools have to apply
methods of desegregation to ensure proper racial mix in schools. White people from affluent families
try to avoid schools that have large populations of black students. Some families that are able to afford
living far from their work, also relocate to ensure that their children are not going to schools that have
high percentages of black students.
Private schools are not generally subject to strict rules for desegregation; rules applied to private
schools for this purpose are not generally implemented properly. On the other hand, public schools are
made to apply stricter rules. It is argued that for proper implementation of desegregation in public
schools, it is important to apply common desegregation programs throughout the whole district
schools. Recognizing these facts, plaintiffs in the 1974 Detroit case argued that Detroit School District
could not be successfully desegregated unless all public schools in the metropolitan area were subject
to a common desegregation order (p.page#). Courts of different districts have also pushed local
governments to apply such rules and standardize the procedure of admissions in schools, in order to
ensure that

SMC and PI Disturbance Compensation Techniques By using Nonlinear Speed Control for PMSM
System
ABSTRACT: In order to optimize the speed control performance of the permanent magnet
synchronous motor (PMSM) system with different disturbances and uncertainties,. In further improve
the disturbance rejection performance of SMC method, extended sliding mode disturbance observer
(ESMDO) is proposed, and the estimated system disturbance is considered as the feed forward
compensation part to compensate sliding mode speed controller. Thus, a composite control method
combining an SMC part and a feed forward compensation part based on ESMDO, called
SMC+ESMDO method, is developed. First, a sliding mode control method based on one novel sliding
mode ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these nonlinear control methods, SMC method is well known for its invariant proper ties to certain
internal parameter variations and external disturbances, which can guarantee perfect tracking
performance de spite parameters or model uncertainties. In a novel exponential reaching law was
presented to design the speed and current integrated controller. To suppress chattering problem,
system variable was used in this reaching law.1 2 However, in the aforementioned reaching laws, the
discontinuous gain rapidly decreases because of variation of the functions of the sliding surface, thus
reducing the robustness of the controller near the sliding surface and also increasing the reaching time.
3 4In order to solve the aforementioned problems, a novel reaching law, which is based on the choice
of an exponential term that adapts to the variations of the sliding mode surface and system states, is
proposed in this paper. This reaching law is able to deal with the chattering/reaching time dilemma.
Based on this reaching law, a sliding mode speed controller of PMSM is developed.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
During the last decade, permanent magnet synchronous motors have been used widely in the industry
to replace DC motors and induction machines. The main characteristics of these motors are the low
inertia, the high efficiency, power density and reliability. Due these

Drugs And Its Effects On America
Drugs are a major issue in America. They are imported from all around the world, but they are mostly
brought across the Mexican border. Even though they are a major concern, nobody is doing anything
about it. In the year 2015 nearly 47,000 have died from an overdose. Why is this epidemic of drugs
being flown into America being ignored? Is the election between Hilary and Trump for the presidency
a bigger picture than drugs and drug related crime? Will Trump s idea of building a wall actually help
decrease illegal immigration, and decrease the amount of narcotics brought into the U.S? Drugs
coming from Mexico have also been an issue and we have continuously reduced the amount of drugs
from being smuggled into the United states, but not all of them. Drugs are obviously a big issue in
America, even if it is being overlooked. Not only are the Drugs killing people but the fight over them
is also creating crime. People on the streets have been fighting over drugs for as long as they have
been here. They re not only fighting over the drugs but they re also killing for them. Why do we allow
for such damage to occur in the U.S. when it can be stopped? There is one solution for this drastic
issue, legalize the drugs. If a whole percentage is being controlled and distributed by the government,
people will not fight over them which will lead to lower rates of crime. Alternatively, a good way to
lower overdoses is to put a tax on them. Charge an extra tax, for example cigarettes, tax

Starwood Hotels is one the largest hotel companies in the world. At the end or 2010, their chain
comprised 1,027 hotels with approximately 302,000 rooms in nearly 100 countries. The hotels were
either owned or leased (62 properties), managed on a hotel management contract (463) or franchised
hotels (502 properties). Over half their hotels are in North America and the Caribbean and one quarter
in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Most of their brands are in the upper end of the market,
and include St. Regis, W, Westin, Le Meridien, and Sheraton. This market position means that the

Wearable Medical Devices Using Delta Sigma Processing...
3.3 Research Objective 3: Wearable Medical Devices using Delta Sigma Processing Circuits
The goal of this research objective is to apply the proposed Delta Sigma DSP circuits to wearable
medical sensors, more specifically to an EEG signal processor. Examples of questions that we wish to
address are: How much power can be saved by using Delta Sigma circuits instead of conventional
DSP circuits? What is the trade off between processing accuracy and power consumption? How can an
efficient interface be designed between Delta Sigma Processing circuits and peripheral devices?
3.3.1 Background and Rationale
Wearable EEG signal processors are imminently expected by researchers, clinical doctors and patients
[127 131]. One of the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would also allow the patients to wear the device outside the laboratory, creating more opportunities
to capture elusive phenomena [134]. This would require a low power device implementing a hardware
efficient EEG processing algorithm.
The Cross frequency coupling (CFC) algorithm is one of the most promising EEG signal processing
methods [135 137]. CFC, which highlights the correlation between the high frequency amplitude and
the low frequency phase of EEG signals, is an attractive means of studying cognitive brain tasks [138]
and disorders such as epilepsy [136] and schizophrenia [137]. Several metrics have been developed to
measure this coupling, including the modulation index [136] and the phase locking value (PLV) [135].
However, like other EEG processing algorithms, CFC involves a large number of MAC operations. If
it is implemented in an ASIC using conventional circuits, it consumes too much circuit area and
power, increasing the cost of the device and reducing its battery lifetime. Based on our preliminary
results, we propose to use Delta Sigma based linear processing circuits for CFC based EEG
processors. The proposed project could dramatically reduce circuit area and power and create a
wearable CFC EEG processor.

Glory Sparknotes
You never truly know a man until you see how they act and respond under certain uncontrollable
circumstances. Where they are to decide what to do, either good or bad, like fight or flight. Today A
simple example would be you are walking on the street and you see someone steal a women s purse,
you can either do something about it and try to get it back or just stand by and watch as the man runs
away. In this case in the movie Glory, it is about the 54th regiment, a volunteer colored fighting force
made up of northern freemen, and some escaped slaves Overall Glory is about the freedom of millions
of people from forced labor and captivity on unjust causes. These brave men risked their lives

When Shaw showed him respect he would not accept it and would always react with violence. This
changed though when Sargent Major John Rawlins confronted him for his behavior and told him what
was actually going on and why they were here. To me this is a pivotal moment in the movie because
you see with the help of the brilliant actor Denzel, Trips eyes widen as if he can see for the first time
in a long time, the reason for the war and the fighting was for him and his brothers and sisters. Sargent
Major Rawlins tells him that the white men are dying by the thousands for them and the least they can
do is do anything to pay them back.
This is why I believe this movie is and artistic genius because growing up with my education I knew
why the north was fighting and who they were fighting for but watching that scene in the movie I felt
really emotional and surprised as well as Private Trip. Throughout the movie Glory there are many
different artistic qualities. Things that are symbols for others that to us today would just be something
normal. A few of these are the 54th regiments need for shoes and want of the infamous blue uniforms.
To me the shoes symbolized happiness and acceptance. At this time former slaved did not have much
so the little things meant a lot to them even if it was a simple pair of shoes. And it symbolized
acceptance because they felt the entire time they were at training that they were never going to go and

Yoder was a Theologian who preferred the ideals that are directly opposite of Niebuhr. Yoder believes
in Christian Pacifism. In the reading of Taking the Question Seriously. John breaks down the question
of his opposition. What would you do if a criminal, say, pulled a gun and threated to kill your wife...or
daughter or sister or mother (Yoder, John H.). He related this to Just War when discussing the second
of the questioner s assumptions, control. In this section of the reading the criterion of probable success
is a reoccurring element. Failure to be successful is a serious possibility in every case of dramatic
confrontation...In any war at least one side loses; in some wars, no side wins (Yoder, John H.). Yoder
then goes on to knowledge and what outcomes can occur if no effort to kill the aggressor is made. He
will rape my wife, kill my daughter, attack me...I also know I will be successful if I try to take his life
(Yoder, John H.). Yoder explains that this reasoning is also in questioning, he cites that the
unpredictability of violence and that no one has knowledge of what the outcome will be. John follows
this by stating that his wife, daughter, or mother should be involved in the decision process; he as a
third party can not act on his own desires. He moves his attention on how this single event compares
to something on a larger scale such as war. Yoder mentions various options involving the event.
Christian faith warns me that I use my self centered control of my decision as a tool of my
rebelliousness, as a way of solidifying my independence from my Maker ( Yoder, John H.). We can
generalize from Yoder s statements and opinions that he believes that Christians can not be involved in
matters of violence/ war because Jesus Christ was a pacifist and we should be living a similar life
following the very rule that Niebuhr said humanity does not

Comparing The Midsummer s Night Dream And 500 Days Of Summer
Have you wondered what the true meaning of love is? The meaning of love, between Shakespearean
time and now? Or relationships from the past and now? This comparative essay will compare
relationships between the play; The Midsummer s Night Dream, and 500 days of Summer. The
comparative essay will compare the relationships between Tom and Summer versus Theseus and
Hippolyta, Tom and friends versus Helena and Hermia, Tom and Sister versus Egeus and Hermia.
Both relationships have a connection of either what the relationship is based upon, or if the
relationships are based on true friendship or love. The following paragraphs will further, compare and

Hippolyta does not have excitement for their marriage compared to Theseus. The theme, of love being

of love seems hazy throughout the film. For instance, Tom praises Summer s good looks and then

The Creation Of Colonial America Essay
Creation of Colonial America In the early 1490 s, Christopher Columbus set sail to find a new route to
the fabled Indies but ended up coming across an island in the Bahamas. Columbus called this island
the New World but today it s known as North America. This discovery changed the lives of many
different ethnic groups. During this remarkable time period the Natives, the Spanish, and the English
came in contact with each other. The collision of these groups different cultural, social, political, and
economical lives formed and shaped this New World. The Natives were living in the Americas before
anyone. They had developed a society that expanded all over the two continents. About 54 million
people we re living there by the time European explorers came over, in 1492. The tribe of the Aztecs,
from Mexico, was one of the three main tribes in the Americas. In the society of the Aztecs, men and
women had different roles. Women worked at home, weaving and tending to the turkeys, dogs, and
crops. Men were hunter gatherers. The little boys and girls were also treated different. The boys were
taught by their fathers until the age of 10, then they were sent off to school. The girls were to stay at
home with their moms and learn their household chores. The lives of the Aztecs also revolved around
their religion. Their religion was based on hundreds of gods and goddess that represented the aspects
of their daily life. They performed many human sacrifices for favors from the gods

refers that the sonnets are translated from Portuguese, it is just an illusion because Barrett Browning
hesitated to publish them in the beginning therefore she used the title as a guise. Sonnet 43 is one of
the best known sonnets from the compilation. The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABBAABBA CD
CD CD and written in iambic pentameter. It is a type of Petrarchan sonnet. In the first line the poet
asks a question How do I love thee? (Browning 1130), and in the rest of the sonnet she answers her
question. In the second line she draws an abstract shape of her love by using the words depth, breadth,
height . In the third and fourth lines her love turns into a spiritual love. In the fifth and sixth lines, she
claims that she can fulfil her lover s every simple need in day or in night. In the next three lines she
expresses that she loves her beloved one freely, purely, and passionately. In the next two lines, we see
that the poet s love is as innocent as a child s faith. She loves her beloved with all her good and bad
feelings. At the end of the poem, she says if God allows, her love will last long even after her death. In
the poem the author used the alliteration as a figure of speech nearly in all lines. In the seventh and
eighth lines, there are two similes starting with the word as (1130).

The Postive Effect of Video Games on Young Children
Video games are an ever present part of almost all children s lives. Whether children play on a
computer, lap top, IPod, IPhone, cell phone, or tablet, many children have daily assess to video games.
For this reason many research has examined the effects that video games have on young children.
Granic, Lobel, and Engels (2014) reported that video games are a ubiquitous part of almost all
children s and adolescents lives, with 97% playing for at least one hour per day in the United States
(p.1). Currently, researchers have found that the vast majority of studies have been on its negative
impact. Some of the potential harms related to video games are exposure to violence, addiction, and
lack of social skills. However, as parents it is our duty to monitor young children s choices to ensure
that they are playing games that are developmentally appropriate for them. This essay will examine
the research that supports the effectiveness of video games in enhancing children s learning and
focusing on cognitive, literacy, and social development.
In the last decade, the manner in which video games have been generated has radically been
transformed. This alteration allowed a small but significant body of research to transpire. Some
parents, principals, educators, and researchers believe that video games enhance children s learning.
On the other hand, others believe video games destroy the lives of young children. Nevertheless, many
agree that this matter is significant and

Social And Cultural Geography Research
Choose two journal articles* and consider what these articles tell us about:
a) the socially constructed, spatially contingent and performative aspects of social identities and b) the
practice of doing social and cultural geography research.
Social and cultural geography is an area of study that has become increasingly popular within
Geography. With the expansion of multi cultural societies and the increased diversification of cultures
in addition to cultural practice, globally research into social and cultural geographies has boomed.
These two diverse fields have risen in popularity among geographers and academics; meaning there is
a significant amount of research and academic papers on this broad area of study. The fact is since the
evolution of post structuralist ideas in the mid 20th century, in addition to postcolonial, and feminist
study around the 1990s. A shift from an emphasis on identity to difference in geographical literature
has become apparent. Geographers have since engaged more frequently with gender, sexuality, race ,
and class differences, by investigating how they are constituted in relation to peoples and places. This
has brought about vast levels of research casing all social identities. However for the purpose of this
essay, I will be focusing on the social identities of Gender and Race as both social and cultural
attitudes in these areas have transformed immensely in the last century. As previously mentioned there
is a vast amount of

Essay on Network Security
Network Security
1. What is network security?
Network security has changed significantly over the past years. There is more and more data to
monitor and analyze in order to detect the activity of your data and systems. Securing a network has
many variables. Password authentication, network access, patches, anti virus protection, intrusion
detection, firewall and network monitoring tools are just a few of the things you can do to protect
yourself.
Threats to your network is becoming more complex and it is requiring lots of money, time and
sacrifices to keep up with the growing amount of potential attacks. Companies cannot protect
themselves with just a firewall anymore. Now it s requiring a full security department that ... Show

It s the same type of the thing, protecting your computer data from getting in the wrong hands. Who
are these wrong hands? The familiar term is hacker which Webster s dictionary describes as 3: an
expert at programming and solving problems with a computer 4: a person who illegally gains access to
and sometimes tampers with information in a computer system . One of the main reasons for the high
level of network security is because of the bad part of the computer hacking world.
2. How to protect yourself? Protecting yourself is only effective if you know what you are protecting
your against and how to protect. There are a couple ways to start getting you more protected. The first
is installing the default operating system. This would have a default password, no security patches and
no virus protection. The second thing you don t want to do is use simple and common passwords like
for example, password. In the 10 immutable laws below, one of the laws is someone is always trying
to guess your password so make sure it s unique. A third suggestion would be to keep as many ports
that you don t need closed and a firewall can do this which is covered in the 3rd section on Security
Technologies. Finally, make sure you don t click on any email that you don t recognize or looks

Math Autobiography
As far back as I can remember, I have always been a history buff. I have memories of going on trips
and sitting in the plane playing fast facts about US Presidents. I would beg the other passengers to
quiz me. I would drive my Mother to the point of insanity asking questions regarding these topics. If
you were to ask me who was President during the Spanish American War I had you covered. I could
answer, William Mckinley, with ease. All of this brings me to my main point: While I excelled and
surpassed others my age in history, I struggled to contend in math. I worked diligently to understand
the lessons I was learning but no amount of studying assisted in meeting the benchmarks that were
required. I was behind in math and I struggled to get through it each day. I would stress about the
concepts to the point of tears. This anxiety and lack of knowledge carried over into the beginning of
middle school. I was hopeless at that point. With the help of my parents, I had attempted nearly
everything just to keep up. Online studying, tutoring, extra homework, but it all seemed useless. ...

The Emergence of a Young Girl into Womanhood
Across several different cultures, there are different ways in which people of a community recognize
the emergence of a young girl into womanhood. In the United States the most common is the famous
Sweet Sixteen which as in the name states: relates to being sixteen years old, getting a car, and having
some sort of celebration to commemorate the birthday. Among others include the Quinceanera which
is usually equated with Mexico and Bat Mitzvahs which is a Jewish girl s rite of passage. Another rite
of passage, called Kinaalda, is a puberty ceremony that holds the same importance and significance
among the Navajo tribe as their creation story. Unlike American society, during the people s lifetime
there is not a time between child and adult. In the Navajo culture it seems that it is more plausible to
say that the time between being a child and adult or as stated by Leighton and Kluckhohn (1947),
physical maturity and social maturity are more nearly coincidental. Meaning unlike the American
culture where the gap between childhood and adulthood is filled with an adolescence, and in the
Navajo tribe this gap is not prolonged and instead this transition is commemorated by a four night
ceremony. This process begins at the Navajo girl s first menstruation and is a way to announce to the
whole community that she has become a woman. In earlier marriage customs, a year or so after the
ceremony the girl would be considered ready for marriage; as a result, some felt that a girl s

Chickenpox Is A Contagious Disease
Chickenpox is a disease that is predominantly seen amongst children. This disease is highly
contagious and widespread. This is why it is important to quarantine a person with chickenpox right
away in a sense. It is important that a person is not near someone with chickenpox. Any kind of direct
contact with a person that has never contracted chickenpox will immediately make the person
susceptible to getting chickenpox right away.
Chicken pox is a disease of the skin that makes the person get crusty pustules all over their body that
continuously itch. Chickenpox is a contagious disease that spreads rampantly through direct contact. It
is important that the person who is dealing with chickenpox to get a special cream to minimize the
itch. The cream should also dry up the pustules that should be getting bigger at first and with the
cream getting smaller in the end. Many years ago, children could die from chicken pox if it was
extreme. The cure did not come easily. The skin scarring was very prevalent since the designated
creams to fix this condition were not predominant as yet.
A chickenpox outbreak would be the most prevalent in a school where diseases are bred and
contracted readily. This disease can be in someone s body manifesting itself and not even be visually
recognizable. A person can be spreading the disease rampantly till it becomes visible and then the
person is known to be quarantined. Adults can

Class In America By Gregory Mantsios Critical Analysis
In the first article titled Class in America by Gregory Mantsios the discussion on class affecting the
United States negatively is brought up. Gregory talks about the fact that people do not choose to be
poor but they are put into situations where they cannot move up in class. Due to the fact that class
creates an immense gap in communities, there are many issues linked to being categorized as the
lower class. In the article Gregory states that class affects more than lifestyle and material well being.
It has a significant impact on our physical and mental well being as well. CITE) The author connects
the idea that if you are in the lower class than you will also deal with other issues include your mental
and physical health declining. Alongside this idea, the author also states All Americans do not have an
equal opportunity to succeed, and class mobility in the United States is lower than that of the rest of
the industrialized world. (CITE) This goes along with the idea that once your born into a class,
breaking out of it is virtually impossible. The author is also making the point that in the United States
class is more problematic than other developed nations and because of this not everyone is given the
chance to break free from a poor lifestyle. In the second reading title Framing Class by Diana Kendall
the idea of class is described as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Diana focuses on the idea
that the media shapes the way we view class. The media

Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Christina Rossetti s poem Goblin Market provokes vivid imagery and illustrates the cost and
consequences of rash actions. The narrative poem tells of two women going about their daily lives,
one woman being steadfast in denying forbidden or dangerous choices while the other willingly risks
herself due to being unable to resist temptation. Lizzie and Laura are both innocent and virginal at the
beginning of the poem, but Laura s curiosity proves to be stronger than her sister s warning. Rossetti
creates an uncomfortable struggle between the consequences of pursuing lust and the need to explore
human desires. With language like sucked and heaved, Laura loses her youth and bloom as a result of

purse, kissed Laura, crossed the heath with clumps of furze at twilight, halted by the brook: and for the
first time in her life began to listen and look (609). She asks for fruit for her sister, but the goblins
instead invite Lizzie to join their feast. When she refuses they suddenly change. No longer are they
interesting, lively, and perhaps even cute amalgamations; suddenly they become wicked and abusive.
They will not sell Lizzie the fruit to take away with her; instead they attack, jostle, and abuse her.
Smashing their fruit into her face and leave bruises and torn clothing in their wake before running
away and hiding; a fairly obvious rape scenario. Lizzie then goes home happy despite the pain of the
ordeal and tells Laura to Come kiss me. Never mind my bruises, Hug me, kiss me, suck my juices
squeezed from goblin fruits for you (612). Rossetti uses the language of sexual violence when the
goblin men attack her with fruit. Laura is immediately worried that Lizzie had doomed herself in an
attempt to help her. She asked if Lizzie partook for the goblin fruit and so doomed herself. Lizzie

So to me that is not the right way to judge someone just because they are not the right sex for a job.
There is one Bible verse that I have found that kind of deals with affirmative action in places and that
is Acts 6:13 which says, Now, in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint
by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily
distribution. And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, It is not right that we
should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among
you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.
(Holy Bible , NKJV) No employees, not matter what color, sex, or race should be treated unfairly in a
work place. It is not the fair thing and to me you should not have to put any type of action in place to
make people see what s right and wrong when it comes to hiring someone for a job in this society
today. I know there are people who do not treat others fairly, but they should have to be the ones who
have to follow a rule, and not the ones who are treating everyone equal.

Essay on Patriarchal Structure of An Active Male Gaze
In the early 1990s Laura Mulvey s thesis concerning the patriarchal structure of an active male gaze
has influenced feminist film critiques and Hollywood. Mulvey s project is to use psychoanalysis to
uncover the power of patriarchy in Hollywood cinema. Patriarchal influence upon cinema is found
primarily in pleasure (pleasure in looking) or as Freud s has put it, scopophilia. Mulvey suggests that it
may be possible to create a new for of cinema due to the fact that patriarchy power to control
cinematic pleasure has revealed.
Many critics have noticed that Mulvey s application of psychoanalysis and filmmaking appears in an
ironic return to Freud and Jacques Lacan. Mulvey uses the gaze to examine male pleasure in narrative
cinema, but Lacan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The male gaze puts his fantasy onto the female figure, which is styled, in a unique sort of way. In this
traditional exhibitionist, role women are continuously being looked at and their appearance is
delivered to the male gaze in such a way as a strong visual and erotic impact and provides male desire.
The presence of a woman in a normal narrative film is the key of the movie. However, the key of the
narrative film works against the development of the story line and stops the action due to the erotic
gaze. Butt Boetticher said: What counts is what the heroine provokes, or rather what she represents.
She is the one, or rather the love or fear she inspires in the hero, or else the concern he feels for her,
who makes him act the way he does. In herself the woman has not the slightest importance .
However Molly Haskell In her development of buddy movie the homosexual eroticism of the main
male figures are able to present the story line with no interruption. Normally the woman shown
operates within two sectors, the first one is as a sexual object of the other actors and the second one is
as a sexual object for the target audience.
The psychical structure and the principles of the ruling ideology say that male figure can t carry the

The Australian Work Health And Safety Strategy
The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 2022 identifies several priority industries.
Priority industries are identified as having a high number of injury and / or fatalities or hazardous in
nature (Safe Work Australia, 2012). The foundation of risk management is to prevent incidents from
occurring. Accident causation theory are models or tools that are used to assist in investigating
incidents in order to prevent recurrence (Boyle, 2012). The construction industry has been identified
as a priority industry for Australia (Safe Work Australia, 2012) and will be the focus of the review.
The development of an incident reporting template will be supported by causation models identified as
relevant to the construction industry. This template will be designed for a medium sized organisation
defined as having 21 99 workers. This study starts by performing a review and literature critic of
accident causation theories and models. This review highlights the two most relevant causation
theories to the construction industry as Reason s Swiss cheese model and System dynamics model for
the causation of unsafe behaviours (SD CUB). Both models are discussed in more detail with a
comparison of model strengths and weaknesses. From the comparison an incident reporting template
is developed. Finally it is argued that a systematic robust model should be applied that can manage the
variables in the changing work environment of the construction industry and concludes risk

How can Alfred Hitchcock be considered a Film Auteur?
In order for to find out if Alfred Hitchcock can be considered a film auteur, one must first find out
what is the true meaning of a film auteur. The term film auteur was coined from a theory developed by
Andrew Sarris, a film critic for which was the auteur theory, a theory in which the director is viewed
as the creative force in a motion picture. This means that the director has to have a distinguishable
personality as a criterion of value. Over a group of films, the director must exhibit certain recurrent
characteristics of style, which serves as his signatures. This also means that a how a film looks and

Another signature that Hitchcock used was the shaky mother and son relationship which is frequently
used in his films. To see an example of this, viewers just have to watch one of his most successful
films, Psycho (1960). Although this is a creepy representation of the relationship, it is not the only
time viewers get to see or hear about Mother. In Easy Virtue (1929), John s mother does not approve
of John s wife and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth that she thinks she is hiding from their
family. This is also the case in The Birds (1963) when Mitch introduced his mother to Melanie, she
does not approve of her and refuses to loosen her hold over her son. Also, at the start of North by
Northwest (1959), Mother is the first person Roger calls when he is arrested, but as brilliant as
Hitchcock was, he showed it in a way where Mother and Roger were in good terms but as the film
goes on, Hitchcock later exposes that, Mother is anything but caring to her

The Symbolism Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula appears to be a novel predicated upon a racist worldview. 1897, its publication
year, was marked by anxieties resulting from the decline of the British Empire from its previous
position of hegemony. The increasing unrest in British colonies endangered British imperialism, race,
and its cultural conventions, rendering society susceptible to the fear of reverse colonization: the
infiltration and influence of former territories. Dracula, travelling to England from Romania, is
employed to symbolise this threat. Arata s most thought provoking note is that vampires as an entity
are generated by racial enervation and the decline of empire. Thus, by utilizing a foreign vampire as
the antagonist of his work, Stoker exploits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A pertinent instant being the sisters first appearance: two [of the sisters] were dark, and had high
aquiline noses, like the Count. In this line, the dark sisters are analogous to Dracula, assumedly of the
same ethnic origin. Yet, the other was fair [...] with [...] golden hair and eyes like pale sapphires,
evidently not of the same ethnicity. Thus it is interesting that she is described in more favourable terms
than the darker, golden hair and eyes like sapphires are reminiscent of wealth and western beauty.
Contrast this with the red, piercing eyes of the other sisters, which oppose the softer, safer image of
the fairer. The passage is narrated by Jonathan Harker, whose first person perspective is influenced by
his ethnicity; he sees the sisters through the lens of anxieties plaguing the Victorian British. Hence the
distress concerning reverse colonization is palpable, Stoker presents through Harker the ease
surrounding those of Western origin, and the discomfort towards outsiders.
Stoker s distinction between races is progressively evident in the attack of Harker: the other two urged
her [the fair sister] on. One said: Go on! You are first, [...] yours is the right to begin. That the most
Western of the three has the right exemplifies British imperialism. Being westernised inherently lends
greater power, presenting the western supremacist perspective that predicated Dracula. Dracula,
particularly the slaying of the Count, is in line with other characteristic nineteenth century works that

Organizational Strategy For A Successful Business
A successful business is made up of various parts so it is imperative that managers develop the right
mix of objectives and personnel if they want to have a fighting chance to survive in today s global
economy. An up and coming business starts with strategic, operational and tactical plans developed by
top executives and other managers. These plans define what the company will accomplish and how
they are going to achieve it. Effective leaders know a plan is only as strong as the people they have to
do the work. Bosses cannot be the worker, front line supervisor and senior management all at once.
They have to rely on their workforce to get the job done. Managers establish a business plan and then,
they turn their focus on the resources required to realize their goals. The most critical resource is their
labor force. Organizational strategy is only effective if managers develop a human resources plan that
specifies the appropriate manpower needed to run an effective business.
An organizational plan defines the purpose of a company, but a business is lifeless without its people.
In order to hire, train, and promote a quality talent pool, managers in a large firm will turn to a Human
Resource manager or personnel manager to find potential candidates (Plunkett, Allen Attner, 2013).
Just like most functions within an organization, there is a process for staffing that is made up of eight
elements. The eight elements of the staffing process include human resource

Using Paleomagnetic Data For The World s Landmasses Of...
A supercontinent, known as Pangea, was formed by the aggregation of all the world s landmasses in
the Late Triassic Early Jurassic. This concept of a supercontinent was originally proposed by Alfred
Wegener (Wegener, 1915). He suggested that all continents assembled into a single supercontinent,
approximately 300 million years ago, and then according to the theory of plate tectonics, began to
break apart 175 million years ago (Rogers et al., 2004) Immense geologic and geophysical evidence
have been presented, by Wegener and others, to support this theory for the Late Triassic Early
Jurassic. However when analyzing the paleomagnetic data for the Late Paleozoic time, inconsistencies
are present which suggest a very different Pangea construction. These inconsistencies are seen in Late
Paleozoic paleomagnetic data apparent polar wander paths (APWPs) for Laurussia and Gondwana. To
fit Wegner s Pangea reconstruction, the APWPs suggest a substantial crustal overlap and shearing
(Domeier et al., 2012). This paper looks to review proposed alternative reconstructions for Pangea,
using paleomagnetic data as the quantifiable method for determining the supercontinent s location.
Paleomagnetic data as evidence for Plate Tectonics
Paleomagnetism is the study of earth s magnetic field as preserved in the magnetic orientation of
certain minerals. For example, when igneous rocks are formed, during cooling, certain minerals align
themselves with the earth s magnetic field and

12 Domains Of Culture Technology And Material 2 Essay
BACKGROUND PAPER
ON
12 DOMAINS OF CULTURE: TECHNOLOGY MATERIAL
1. There s no arguing that technology has helped make life easier. Americans use it every day to
communicate, travel, build and entertain themselves, but is it all positive? Does technology replace
that which makes us human? Is technology harmful to the preservation of cultural values? Think about
these questions as the effects of technology and material on American culture are explored. In the first
point, the production element of technology and material will be covered, how it s thought up and how
it s made. Then in the second point, the adoption aspect of technology and material will be examined,
with how it ends up in the hands of everyone and becomes a part of ... Show more content on

This is how technology is adopted into American culture. Before a new technology is sold to the
public, private companies must consider the perceived benefit, the ease of use, immediacy of benefits,
price, riskiness and return on investmentii. The motivations of private companies to make a profit are
the primary factor considered in whether or not a new technology will be released, regardless of how
much the technology is wanted or needed. There is no formal voting process that takes place for the
public to decide what new technologies will be implemented into society. It all relies on private
companies to sell them if they believe they can make money. The argument can be made though that
the material and technology that consumers buy is them directly voting on what is adopted into
American culture.
4. Arriving at the conclusion; It was explained how the production of technology and material has
affected American culture. There have been numerous advances in technology that promise to make
life easier and change how Americans operate as a culture. It was also explained how technology and
material is adopted into society. Private companies are the primary force and they are motivated only
by the promise to make a profit. As technology continues to advance and make lives easier, society is
increasingly faced with the growing dilemma that was posed in the beginning. Will technology

Back Brace Essay
31 million Americans experience low back pain at any given time. It is the number one cause of
disability worldwide. Also, low back pain is one of the most common reasons for someone to miss
work and the second most common reason for someone to go to the doctors. Really? That many
people have back pain? It is that common for them to go to their primary care doctor for it? Why are
they not coming to physical therapy first? That s a topic for another day, but seriously low back pain is
a huge issue that a lot of us deal with on a daily basis. I see it first hand every day as I treat patients
frequently with this problem. Some are strains, disc herniations, fusions, fractures and just general
arthritis symptoms. It s inevitable that I will get the question: Do you think a back brace will help me?
My friend s brother has worn a brace for years and says he thinks I need one. So I decided to share my
opinions and some general facts about back braces to hopefully help you make that decision.
What is the back brace being used for? This should be the first question anyone should ask. The type
of injury or problem that you are having will be a key factor whether you will benefit from a brace or
not. When do you plan on wearing it? Is this something that you are planning on wearing all day? Do
you want to use it while you are doing house work or working out at the gym? Are you planning on
wearing it while you sit? These are some key questions that you need to focus on in order to

Mending Wall Essay
In Robert Frost s timeless piece, Mending Wall, he creates a tranquil mood that has a small climatic
bump between to neighbors who come together to mend their stone fence. He throughout the poem he
uses metaphors, symbolism, similes, as well as other literary elements to convey the importance of the
wall. Without the use of literary elements his poem wouldn t have the same effect on the reader, it
would change the whole poem and the way it s perceived. The theme of the poem is to respect others
choices or decisions.
Frost uses several metaphors within the whole poem to further the reader s visual picture of the
literature pieces. When they collect rocks to mend the wall he says some are loves and some so nearly
balls (17). He uses word such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned in the last poem the wall is an ongoing metaphor for their relationship. In lines 1 and 35
frost repeats the phrase Something there is that doesn t love a wall . This represents the Narrator s side
of the disagreement. He no longer want the separating him, from his neighbor, he wants to befriend
him. Several times he points how there is an entity or force that doesn t want the wall up. And that
maybe it s for the best if it isn t dividing them. That sends the frozen ground swell under it, And spills
the upper boulders in the sun; And makes gaps even two can pass abreast. (2 4). He suggests that
nature takes course in destroying the wall so they can meet. And even alter he suggests that maybe its
elves, That wants it down. I could say Elves to him But it s not elves exactly (36/37). In both lines 27
and 45 the neighbor states that Good fences make good neighbours. On the other side of the spectrum,
this is the neighbor s rebuttal as to why the fence should remain. The fence is to maintain their
nonexistent relationship. Without having the neighbors disagree on the fence the story would be

Parameters such as amplitude of oscillatory and acoustic wave, radius of bubble and number of
methanol molecules which have effect on bubble kinetics are more pronounced at frequency of 20
KHz. And this frequency is able to maintain cavitation effect in reaction medium. So 20 KHz can be
considered as optimum frequency and used for further simulations. 5.3 Effect of reaction temperature:
Reaction medium (ambient) temperature plays crucial role in controlling bubble dynamics. Impact of
ambient temperature on bubble dynamics is shown below. A. Methanol as liquid

  • 2. Political Changes In The Progressive Era The history of the United States shows an improvement in its civilization from its origin to the present. From the independence of the U.S. to the Civil Rights Movement. However, the biggest change occurred during the Progressive Era; a time period where new ways of thinking started to develop towards a more fair country. The social aspect had the biggest impact followed by political changes and some economical. The first political change happened when the muckrakers decided that the political parties were corrupt and people in the business industry had too much saying in what the government did. For that reason the muckrakers decided to go against the railroads, the primary industry that exercised power over the government (Brinkley 478). This was known as the trust buster regulation, where monopolies were seeing as unfair and corrupt business. Even though corruption was reduced, the muckrakers also sought to take out power from the bosses, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Patrick Henry Speech Analysis Introduction When Patrick Henry gave his famous Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death speech he proved that pens are indeed mightier than swords. That speech undoubtedly lead to the formation of the great nation that we now live in today. Patrick Henry was better at persuading his audience because he used a convincing combination rhetorical questions and imagery. Patrick Henry s use of logical and emotional appeals to make his audience believe in his cause. His purpose for speaking and his ambitious ideas also helped make his speech stronger. Jonathan Edwards speech was good, but the fear that he instilled in his audience crippled them instead of pushing them to action, like Henry s speech did. Appeals Emotional Appeals Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? (Henry) Henry is asking his audience if they would rather live a peaceful life of slavery or a life of freedom on their own terms. This rhetorical question is impactful because Henry s audience is afraid of slavery, they don t like the idea of being controlled by anyone. They know what the lives of their own slaves are like and they fear being put in that position. This makes the audience want to heed Henry s advice and go to war against Great Britain. Logical Appeals Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope (Henry) Henry is telling his audience that there is nothing wrong with looking on the bright side, but they need to open their eyes ... Both were developing codes such as Chivalry and Bushido. Both had a some sort of leader weather it s a shogun or a pope. Some historians will argue that samurai and knights are more different than similar, but they are more similar than different. The samurai and knights were more similar than different because they had similar armor and they had the same type of social pyramid. First of all the knights and samurai both wore armor. It states in document D that in samurai armor they were put together with tiny iron scales. The knights had one big body suit of armor in one piece. This means that the armor they ... • 8. Analysis Of The Article City Limits On Racial Equality Desegregation: 1968 1976 The article City Limits on Racial Equality: The Effects of City Suburb Boundaries on Public School Desegregation by David R. James(1989), discusses people s perceptions while choosing schools on the basis of racial mix in students population of school. It is argued that public schools have to apply methods of desegregation to ensure proper racial mix in schools. White people from affluent families try to avoid schools that have large populations of black students. Some families that are able to afford living far from their work, also relocate to ensure that their children are not going to schools that have high percentages of black students. Private schools are not generally subject to strict rules for desegregation; rules applied to private schools for this purpose are not generally implemented properly. On the other hand, public schools are made to apply stricter rules. It is argued that for proper implementation of desegregation in public schools, it is important to apply common desegregation programs throughout the whole district schools. Recognizing these facts, plaintiffs in the 1974 Detroit case argued that Detroit School District could not be successfully desegregated unless all public schools in the metropolitan area were subject to a common desegregation order (p.page#). Courts of different districts have also pushed local governments to apply such rules and standardize the procedure of admissions in schools, in order to ensure that ... In a novel exponential reaching law was presented to design the speed and current integrated controller. To suppress chattering problem, system variable was used in this reaching law.1 2 However, in the aforementioned reaching laws, the discontinuous gain rapidly decreases because of variation of the functions of the sliding surface, thus reducing the robustness of the controller near the sliding surface and also increasing the reaching time. 3 4In order to solve the aforementioned problems, a novel reaching law, which is based on the choice of an exponential term that adapts to the variations of the sliding mode surface and system states, is proposed in this paper. This reaching law is able to deal with the chattering/reaching time dilemma. Based on this reaching law, a sliding mode speed controller of PMSM is developed. 2. • 10. Drugs And Its Effects On America Drugs are a major issue in America. They are imported from all around the world, but they are mostly brought across the Mexican border. Even though they are a major concern, nobody is doing anything about it. In the year 2015 nearly 47,000 have died from an overdose. Why is this epidemic of drugs being flown into America being ignored? Is the election between Hilary and Trump for the presidency a bigger picture than drugs and drug related crime? Will Trump s idea of building a wall actually help decrease illegal immigration, and decrease the amount of narcotics brought into the U.S? Drugs coming from Mexico have also been an issue and we have continuously reduced the amount of drugs from being smuggled into the United states, but not all of them. Drugs are obviously a big issue in America, even if it is being overlooked. Not only are the Drugs killing people but the fight over them is also creating crime. People on the streets have been fighting over drugs for as long as they have been here. They re not only fighting over the drugs but they re also killing for them. Why do we allow for such damage to occur in the U.S. when it can be stopped? There is one solution for this drastic issue, legalize the drugs. If a whole percentage is being controlled and distributed by the government, people will not fight over them which will lead to lower rates of crime. Alternatively, a good way to lower overdoses is to put a tax on them. Charge an extra tax, for example cigarettes, tax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples of questions that we wish to address are: How much power can be saved by using Delta Sigma circuits instead of conventional DSP circuits? What is the trade off between processing accuracy and power consumption? How can an efficient interface be designed between Delta Sigma Processing circuits and peripheral devices? 3.3.1 Background and Rationale Wearable EEG signal processors are imminently expected by researchers, clinical doctors and patients [127 131]. It would also allow the patients to wear the device outside the laboratory, creating more opportunities to capture elusive phenomena [134]. This would require a low power device implementing a hardware efficient EEG processing algorithm. The Cross frequency coupling (CFC) algorithm is one of the most promising EEG signal processing methods [135 137]. CFC, which highlights the correlation between the high frequency amplitude and the low frequency phase of EEG signals, is an attractive means of studying cognitive brain tasks [138] and disorders such as epilepsy [136] and schizophrenia [137]. Several metrics have been developed to measure this coupling, including the modulation index [136] and the phase locking value (PLV) [135]. However, like other EEG processing algorithms, CFC involves a large number of MAC operations. If it is implemented in an ASIC using conventional circuits, it consumes too much circuit area and power, increasing the cost of the device and reducing its battery lifetime. Based on our preliminary results, we propose to use Delta Sigma based linear processing circuits for CFC based EEG processors. The proposed project could dramatically reduce circuit area and power and create a wearable CFC EEG processor. Even though the title refers that the sonnets are translated from Portuguese, it is just an illusion because Barrett Browning hesitated to publish them in the beginning therefore she used the title as a guise. Sonnet 43 is one of the best known sonnets from the compilation. The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABBAABBA CD CD CD and written in iambic pentameter. It is a type of Petrarchan sonnet. In the first line the poet asks a question How do I love thee? (Browning 1130), and in the rest of the sonnet she answers her question. In the second line she draws an abstract shape of her love by using the words depth, breadth, height . In the third and fourth lines her love turns into a spiritual love. In the fifth and sixth lines, she claims that she can fulfil her lover s every simple need in day or in night. In the next three lines she expresses that she loves her beloved one freely, purely, and passionately. In the next two lines, we see that the poet s love is as innocent as a child s faith. She loves her beloved with all her good and bad feelings. At the end of the poem, she says if God allows, her love will last long even after her death. In the poem the author used the alliteration as a figure of speech nearly in all lines. In the seventh and eighth lines, there are two similes starting with the word as (1130). ... Social and cultural geography is an area of study that has become increasingly popular within Geography. With the expansion of multi cultural societies and the increased diversification of cultures in addition to cultural practice, globally research into social and cultural geographies has boomed. In the United States the most common is the famous Sweet Sixteen which as in the name states: relates to being sixteen years old, getting a car, and having some sort of celebration to commemorate the birthday. Among others include the Quinceanera which is usually equated with Mexico and Bat Mitzvahs which is a Jewish girl s rite of passage. Another rite of passage, called Kinaalda, is a puberty ceremony that holds the same importance and significance among the Navajo tribe as their creation story. Unlike American society, during the people s lifetime there is not a time between child and adult. In the Navajo culture it seems that it is more plausible to say that the time between being a child and adult or as stated by Leighton and Kluckhohn (1947), physical maturity and social maturity are more nearly coincidental. Meaning unlike the American culture where the gap between childhood and adulthood is filled with an adolescence, and in the Navajo tribe this gap is not prolonged and instead this transition is commemorated by a four night ceremony. This process begins at the Navajo girl s first menstruation and is a way to announce to the whole community that she has become a woman. Thus it is interesting that she is described in more favourable terms than the darker, golden hair and eyes like sapphires are reminiscent of wealth and western beauty. Contrast this with the red, piercing eyes of the other sisters, which oppose the softer, safer image of the fairer. The passage is narrated by Jonathan Harker, whose first person perspective is influenced by his ethnicity; he sees the sisters through the lens of anxieties plaguing the Victorian British. Hence the distress concerning reverse colonization is palpable, Stoker presents through Harker the ease surrounding those of Western origin, and the discomfort towards outsiders. Stoker s distinction between races is progressively evident in the attack of Harker: the other two urged her [the fair sister] on. One said: Go on! You are first, [...] yours is the right to begin. That the most Western of the three has the right exemplifies British imperialism. Being westernised inherently lends greater power, presenting the western supremacist perspective that predicated Dracula. • 40. What Is HIV HIV What is HIV/AIDS? HIV stands for Human immunodeficiency Virus. This virus weakens a person s ability to fight infections. During HIV infection, the virus attacks and destroys the infection fighting CD4 cells, a type white blood cell. The loss of CD4 cells makes it difficult to fight infections, and so, one would be most susceptible to any and every illness. A person with the loss of 200 and more CD4 cells is said to have the more advanced stage of the HIV infection, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS. This is the stage at which all of a person s ability to fight infections is lost. Having HIV does not always mean that you have AIDS. It can take many years for people with the virus to develop AIDS. HIV and AIDS cannot be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Talk with your sex partner or partners about their sexual history as well as your own sexual history. Find out whether your partner has a history of behaviours that increase his or her risk for HIV. Alcohol and drugs With the use of alcohol or drugs, be very careful. Being under the influence can make one careless about practicing safer sex. Never share intravenous (IV) needles, syringes, cookers, cotton, cocaine spoons, or eyedroppers with others if you use drugs. If someone already has HIV If you are infected with HIV, you can greatly lower the risk of spreading the infection to your sex partner by starting treatment when your immune system is still healthy. Experts recommend starting treatment as soon as you know you are infected. Tell your sex partner or partners about your behaviour and whether you are HIV positive. Follow safer sex practices, such as using condoms. Do not donate blood, plasma, semen, body organs, or body tissues. Do not share personal items, such as toothbrushes, razors, or sex toys that may be contaminated with blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. If you are pregnant The risk of a woman spreading HIV to her baby can be greatly reduced if she is on medicine that reduces the amount of virus in her blood to undetectable levels during pregnancy. Continues treatment during pregnancy. Does not breast feed her baby. The baby should also receive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Organizational Strategy For A Successful Business A successful business is made up of various parts so it is imperative that managers develop the right mix of objectives and personnel if they want to have a fighting chance to survive in today s global economy. An up and coming business starts with strategic, operational and tactical plans developed by top executives and other managers. These plans define what the company will accomplish and how they are going to achieve it. Effective leaders know a plan is only as strong as the people they have to do the work. Bosses cannot be the worker, front line supervisor and senior management all at once. They have to rely on their workforce to get the job done. Managers establish a business plan and then, they turn their focus on the resources required to realize their goals. The most critical resource is their labor force. Organizational strategy is only effective if managers develop a human resources plan that specifies the appropriate manpower needed to run an effective business. An organizational plan defines the purpose of a company, but a business is lifeless without its people. In order to hire, train, and promote a quality talent pool, managers in a large firm will turn to a Human Resource manager or personnel manager to find potential candidates (Plunkett, Allen Attner, 2013). Just like most functions within an organization, there is a process for staffing that is made up of eight elements. The eight elements of the staffing process include human resource ... • 42. Using Paleomagnetic Data For The World s Landmasses Of... A supercontinent, known as Pangea, was formed by the aggregation of all the world s landmasses in the Late Triassic Early Jurassic. This concept of a supercontinent was originally proposed by Alfred Wegener (Wegener, 1915). He suggested that all continents assembled into a single supercontinent, approximately 300 million years ago, and then according to the theory of plate tectonics, began to break apart 175 million years ago (Rogers et al., 2004) Immense geologic and geophysical evidence have been presented, by Wegener and others, to support this theory for the Late Triassic Early Jurassic. However when analyzing the paleomagnetic data for the Late Paleozoic time, inconsistencies are present which suggest a very different Pangea construction. These inconsistencies are seen in Late Paleozoic paleomagnetic data apparent polar wander paths (APWPs) for Laurussia and Gondwana. To fit Wegner s Pangea reconstruction, the APWPs suggest a substantial crustal overlap and shearing (Domeier et al., 2012). This paper looks to review proposed alternative reconstructions for Pangea, using paleomagnetic data as the quantifiable method for determining the supercontinent s location. Paleomagnetic data as evidence for Plate Tectonics Paleomagnetism is the study of earth s magnetic field as preserved in the magnetic orientation of certain minerals. For example, when igneous rocks are formed, during cooling, certain minerals align themselves with the earth s magnetic field and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. 12 Domains Of Culture Technology And Material 2 Essay BACKGROUND PAPER ON 12 DOMAINS OF CULTURE: TECHNOLOGY MATERIAL 1. There s no arguing that technology has helped make life easier. Americans use it every day to communicate, travel, build and entertain themselves, but is it all positive? Does technology replace that which makes us human? Is technology harmful to the preservation of cultural values? Think about these questions as the effects of technology and material on American culture are explored. In the first point, the production element of technology and material will be covered, how it s thought up and how it s made. Then in the second point, the adoption aspect of technology and material will be examined, with how it ends up in the hands of everyone and becomes a part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is how technology is adopted into American culture. Before a new technology is sold to the public, private companies must consider the perceived benefit, the ease of use, immediacy of benefits, price, riskiness and return on investmentii. The motivations of private companies to make a profit are the primary factor considered in whether or not a new technology will be released, regardless of how much the technology is wanted or needed. There is no formal voting process that takes place for the public to decide what new technologies will be implemented into society. It all relies on private companies to sell them if they believe they can make money. The argument can be made though that the material and technology that consumers buy is them directly voting on what is adopted into American culture. 4. Arriving at the conclusion; It was explained how the production of technology and material has affected American culture. There have been numerous advances in technology that promise to make life easier and change how Americans operate as a culture. It was also explained how technology and material is adopted into society. Private companies are the primary force and they are motivated only by the promise to make a profit. As technology continues to advance and make lives easier, society is increasingly faced with the growing dilemma that was posed in the beginning. Will technology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Back Brace Essay 31 million Americans experience low back pain at any given time. It is the number one cause of disability worldwide. Also, low back pain is one of the most common reasons for someone to miss work and the second most common reason for someone to go to the doctors. Really? That many people have back pain? It is that common for them to go to their primary care doctor for it? Why are they not coming to physical therapy first? That s a topic for another day, but seriously low back pain is a huge issue that a lot of us deal with on a daily basis. I see it first hand every day as I treat patients frequently with this problem. Some are strains, disc herniations, fusions, fractures and just general arthritis symptoms. It s inevitable that I will get the question: Do you think a back brace will help me? My friend s brother has worn a brace for years and says he thinks I need one. So I decided to share my opinions and some general facts about back braces to hopefully help you make that decision. What is the back brace being used for? This should be the first question anyone should ask. The type of injury or problem that you are having will be a key factor whether you will benefit from a brace or not. When do you plan on wearing it? Is this something that you are planning on wearing all day? Do you want to use it while you are doing house work or working out at the gym? Are you planning on wearing it while you sit? These are some key questions that you need to focus on in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Mending Wall Essay In Robert Frost s timeless piece, Mending Wall, he creates a tranquil mood that has a small climatic bump between to neighbors who come together to mend their stone fence. He throughout the poem he uses metaphors, symbolism, similes, as well as other literary elements to convey the importance of the wall. Without the use of literary elements his poem wouldn t have the same effect on the reader, it would change the whole poem and the way it s perceived. The theme of the poem is to respect others choices or decisions. Frost uses several metaphors within the whole poem to further the reader s visual picture of the literature pieces. When they collect rocks to mend the wall he says some are loves and some so nearly balls (17). He uses word such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned in the last poem the wall is an ongoing metaphor for their relationship. In lines 1 and 35 frost repeats the phrase Something there is that doesn t love a wall . This represents the Narrator s side of the disagreement. He no longer want the separating him, from his neighbor, he wants to befriend him. Several times he points how there is an entity or force that doesn t want the wall up. And that maybe it s for the best if it isn t dividing them. That sends the frozen ground swell under it, And spills the upper boulders in the sun; And makes gaps even two can pass abreast. (2 4). He suggests that nature takes course in destroying the wall so they can meet. And even alter he suggests that maybe its elves, That wants it down. I could say Elves to him But it s not elves exactly (36/37). In both lines 27 and 45 the neighbor states that Good fences make good neighbours. On the other side of the spectrum, this is the neighbor s rebuttal as to why the fence should remain. The fence is to maintain their nonexistent relationship. Without having the neighbors disagree on the fence the story would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
