The focus of my investigation was to analyse the representation of women in horror films. The films I
had selected were Resident Evil Retribution (2012) and Halloween (1978). In the film, Resident Evil
Retribution, the representation of women was stronger, whereas Halloween represented females as
weak and vulnerable as they were from a different epoch. I have used codes and conventions and also
subverted the representation of women in my opening sequence of the horror film.

Sir Ernest Shackleton was born on February 15, 1874. Shackleton was an explorer. He was born in
Ireland and moved to England when he was a young boy. His dream was to be the first person to make
it to the south pole. When he was young, his father urged Ernest to go to medical school just like him .
But at age 16 he joined the british navy, achieving the rank of first mate by the age of 18, and
becoming a certified master mariner six years later. He had to go to Antarctica but he couldn t finish
the voyage because he got sick and had to go back home.
On August 1st, 1914 he went back to Antarctica. The trip lasted a whole 747 days. They were rescued
at elephant island on august 15, 1916. The reason he is important is because he was the first person to
get to Antarctica and he did it with 28 people, astonishingly no one died! He went back for a fourth
trip, but sadly he of a heart attack on board the ship. He died at age 47. He was buried in Grytviken,
South Georgia.
He married Emily Dorman in 1904 and they had three children. The youngest ,Edward, became the

Three years ago, my family adopted a dog. I ending up being the one who was most reluctant to
making the final decision and still was even after he had entered our family. I was the one who
thought of all the negatives for we don t need a dog incorporated into our busy lives. For the first few
weeks I did not like this dog, and the dog new it. Over time, I started to relate and bond with this dog.
I saw how he was different, he did not act like a normal dog of his breed, different from the rest. I find
the same thing in myself in my family, not like the others, but were both of us are still included and

him. In the novel The Golden Compass, the author Philip Pullman develops a similar type of
