Alliteration In Edgar Allen Poe s The Bells
Alliteration
a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur close together in a series.
Example
What a tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells! (38). Poe, The Bells
Function:
Context
In The Bells by Edgar Allan Poe, four different bells ring out at different times in the speaker s life.
The silver bells pour out a sense of happiness and joy as they are tinkling on the sledge. Golden bells
ring out a warm and rich sound as a wedding takes place. The poem takes a turn as bronze alarm bells
send out a sound of warning for a fire. The line is presented as the bronze bells ring out for a sudden
shift of mood. That mood grows in intensity in the next stanza, where iron bells strike a heavy and
dark tone as they signal a death.

In the air of night, the bronze alarm bells scream out a tale of terror that their turbulency tells to warn
the people of the fire. The reiterated harsh t sounds sinister, adding to the horrific mood of the stanza.
Tension builds up as the bells lead to the catastrophic fire. The harsh t grows malicious as it reflects
the horror of the fire. It is a tense sound that almost agitates the reader, allowing the speaker to set the
chaotic mood. The alliteration creates a cacophonous atmosphere for the setting in which the fire takes

Investigating the Stagnant Political Situation in Pittsburgh
Investigating the Stagnant Political Situation in Pittsburgh A Proposal for the Pennsylvania Center for
Women, Politics, and Public Policy Target Organization Pennsylvania Center for Women, Politics, and

interaction with female voters in Pennsylvania Gender Differences in Voters Empirical evidence
suggests that men and women respond differently to political scenarios Possibly reinforced by the

inhibiting voter action generally and female voter responsiveness especially Problem and Need
Pittsburgh lags behind cities of comparable size in terms of economic and cultural development
Stagnancy is readily apparent in both city and county government offices This has led to dormancy in

Penicillin Essay
Penicillin was accidentally discovered at St. Mary s Hospital, London in 1929 by Dr. Alexander
Fleming. As test continued, Fleming began to realize that he was on the verge of a great discovery.
However, he still did not know the identity of the fungus, and had little knowledge of fungi. His crude
extracts could be diluted 1,000 times and still be effective in killing bacteria. After years of working
on penicillin and going nowhere, many of his co workers grew tired of hearing about it. The first real
test for penicillin came when a 48 year old police officer nicked himself shaving. After a time,
Alexander s face became infected and he developed a temperature. When he was rushed to the
hospital, the doctors believed that he had only hours ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Penicillin brought about the biggest search in medical history. It was reasoned that if there was one
antibiotic in nature, there must be many more, and there were.
If anything should be taken off of the Basic s List, it should be Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is
simply survival of the fittest. This a simple view, and is not practiced much very often. Penicillin on
the other hand, has saved thousands, if not millions of lives, and started its own medical revolution to
seek for new cures to other things as well.
World War II turning points are much more important than penicillin. If there were not any breaks for
the American troops, then there would have been many more lives lost in the war than needed.
Possibly, there would be more lives lost in the fighting than saved by penicillin in its fist two decades
of public use.
Penicillin has helped save many lives throughout the years. It has cured things like strep throat, which
many people have had in their lives, syphilis, and gonorrhea. It also sparked a new wave of

Data Collection And Analysis On Azerbaijan
Methodology
Overview
In this study research focuses on interviews with political officials, experts and secondary data
collection and analysis. The main part of the research stems from interviews in Azerbaijan 5
interviews, 2 interviews in Beijing, and two Skype interviews with international experts. Totally, I had
9 respondents to conduct my research. Of these, I did 7 face to face interviews, and other 2 interviews
were conducted via Skype video call. On January I travelled to Azerbaijan, Baku (to the capital city)
for gathering interviews and related important documents. Apart from interviews, my research focuses
on secondary data collection and analysis. With secondary data I mean various types of secondary
resources such as reports, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sampling
As the topic is related to the political sphere many problems occurred during the sampling procedure.
The main focus of the study to identify the risk factors and their effects for Azerbaijan to be a
transport hub. Due to that reason I planned to do semi structured interviews with political officials,
scholars, from Azerbaijan to understand the officials points of view about the issue. Firstly, I started
with the help of Centre for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and I
did one of my interviews there. They referred me other experts who focus this study arena.
I would like to mention that finding respondents for my research was a little bit difficult. Because the
topic is related to political sphere. I was planning to do interviews with for instance, deputies of
National Assembly, senior advisors from Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan, officials from Port of
Baku and so on. From this point of view, conducting my research I needed political official, scholars,
transport and logistics experts. First problem came from the topic. China s relationship with South
Caucasus, especially with Azerbaijan is brand new topic for scholars. Due to that reason finding
experts and scholar who has deep knowledge on this topic made problem for my sampling. As the
topic relates to sensitive issue limitations of answers during the

The Issue Of The Canadian Election
The 2015 Canadian election was one of great importance that showcased a changing of guard in the
Canadian political context. Key issues in this election were; Bill c 21, multiculturalism, the refugee
crisis, Marijuana legislation, war on terror and ISIS, and environmental policies. Although these are
all pinnacle matters, one of the most pressing issue was economic policies. Economics policy is what
is commonly seen as the commons man s issues and what might win most people over in an election
cycle. Justin Trudeau and Stephen harper were the campaigns largest attractions Harper representing
the fiscal conservatives and Trudeau representing the big deficit spending policies of the Liberals, with

fiscal conservative, meaning that the conservative government did not want to spend much, on social
welfare programs, and various other initiatives while balancing the budget. This was perhaps the
election of fiscal conservatism as even left wingers such as The NDP and The Green Party, who are
usually the parties who suggest an easy monetary policy. Trudeau was only person in this election who
was promising an easy money policy, this idea is not a new one, and it was originally introduced by
economist John Maynard Keynes in the 1930 s. The easy money policy guarantees an increase in
aggregate demand in the economy as the government increases spending and runs large deficits. This
is the same economic plan that would allow Justin Trudeau s father Pierre Trudeau to prosper as
Canadian Prime Minister for 15 years, and is in fact called Trudeaunomics, based on their own
personal brand of financial policies.
Why was the economy such an important aspect of the 2015 election, while not being at the forefront
of other Canadian elections similar too it? While it would be a stretch in anybody s minds to say that

An Analysis on Loneliness Let me tell you this: If you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it s
not because they enjoy solitude. It s because they have tried to blend into the world before and people
continue to disappointment them (Picoult). Poignant quote that is a perfect introduction to an
discussion on the loneliness and
Disappointment in life. Loneliness and disappointment are universal struggles suffered by mankind
since the beginning of time. Loneliness and disappointment are so common that every person will feel
their impact at some point in life. As common as they are to the human experience, each person s
experience with loneliness and disappointment is uniquely individual.
For some people, these feelings are brief. For others loneliness and disappointment follow them
Like a shadow, haunting them to the very depths of their soul. Because each of these feelings effect so
many people in such a profound fashion they are often found as recurrent themes throughout literature
and a favorite subject for many authors. One such writer is science fiction author, Ray Bradbury.
Bradbury and his short story, The Fog Horn, is an example of the
Ramification of loneliness and disappointment, and how people, or in this case people and creatures
respond to them. In The Fog Horn, Bradbury uses the symbol of the lighthouse and its foghorn to

Kenneth Dodge s Theory Of Juvenile Delinquency
Deviance among adolescents in our society has many different causes and multiple theories
throughout the history of criminal justice have been developed to attempt to explain, prevent and
reduce incidents of status offenses and juvenile delinquency. There are theories varying from
individual, to social and environmental. All of these theories have their merits and contribute in one
way or another to the advancement of the understanding of juvenile delinquency and the treatment and
prevention of delinquency within our society. Those that have proven to be successful we have applied
in our justice system while those that are proven over time to be ineffective or defective we have
discarded. There is no single theory that applies to all delinquent behavior in all situations. It is best to
determine what theory may work best in each specific case based on the individual and the specific
situation. Dodge s information processing theory of social problem solving (Crick and Dodge 1994)
was developed by Kenneth Dodge in an attempt to explain the interaction between the child s
cognitive development and their social environment. This theory combines elements of both the
individual and the social environment and examines how these two variables interact with each other
to present a model for juvenile delinquency. During my investigation of this topic I discovered that an
adapted model of Dodge s theory existed that seemed to be more encompassing of the causes of
juvenile delinquency,

a little bit. The first clip is from his most recent viral video Snowboarding with the NYPD The next is
from Aladdin prank and the last is Make It Count . I kind of wish I could just sit here and show you all
of his videos because they are so good. He has made movies like this for Nike, Samsung (which he got

and another he was involved in , in 2009, he had a tv show with 8 episodes with his brother on HBO.
Now all of this is amazing and exactly and partly why he falls into the life less ordinary category. But
before all this he grew up mostly just like one of us. He grew up in a quiet Connecticut town and he

for years. He started filming his sons early childhood when he was 18 and that s where the passion for
filming started. By telling these little stories about his son Owen he felt like he had a voice. He
decided to leave and live in New York City in june of 2001, it was a dream he had while living in the

The Importance Of Clean Drinking Water In India
One of the biggest challenges facing the world today is the emphasis on providing clean water to
everyone throughout the world. This is a fairly easy task in wealthier countries with strong central
governments which establish regulations on how waterways are maintained and treated, however in
developing countries like India the task is insurmountable. With India s population soon to surpass
China by 2022 , there is a huge concern in the lack of clean drinking water for many of their citizens
(Riley, 2015). If India s population is going to continue to rise at the rates it is experiencing today, the
government must create more initiatives to alter the poor hygiene practices by its citizens, to ensure
everyone has access to clean drinking water. One of the biggest problems facing India s access to
clean water is the practice of improper hygiene, which is seen from the astronomical amount of people
that presently practice open defecation or someone defecating outside in the open. The practice stems
from early human civilization, but without much emphasis on the problem over the past century, it has
continued to rise with India s rising population. In India, a staggering 522 million of their citizens
practice open defecation (India, n.d.). This is an extreme cause for concern in a country that has such a
dense population due to its population size compared to the countries overall size. What this entails is
that even if the amount of people who practice open defecation

Examine How Social, Historical and Spatial Constructions...
Examine how social, historical and spatial constructions of childhood and or youth inform the design,
practices and values of a selected institution of childhood or young people.
Childhood is not a biological state, unlike infancy (Postman) it is a construction placed upon a group
of humans by society (James and Prout). Differing societies have different views of what a child is and
should be. The ideas surrounding children and childhood not only differ within different societies
there are also historical differences in the constructs of children (Postman) as if we look throughout
history it is suggested that children are a modern day construct (Postman). Aries (1962) suggests that
even as early as the late seventeeth century, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only do adults place historical and societal constructs onto children there is also the process of
projecting spatial constructions onto them aswell. Soja (date) refers to how we place spatiality
constructions, he suggests that in order to understand any society, culture or any group of people
historically and socially as this gives the best informative knowledge of the group (Soja). As
mentioned previously this has been done since the twentieth century when Aries looked at when
childhood, as a concept had emerged (Aries 1962). However in recent years it has been suggested that
using this dialectic in order to understand a community is not enough (Soja) and that there has to be a
third notion (Soja).
Soja suggests that although historical and social imaginations of a community give a good insight to
what a society is this dialectic is not enough when you want to have a full understanding of how a
community behave (Soja). He suggests that the spaces in which people occupy (spatiality) should be
adopted with the same importance and a trialectic approach should be adopted (Soja).
Studying one aspect of the trialectic is no more insightful than another and all should be treated as
equal when trying to gain knowledge (Soja). It is only when the three

Bye Birdie Vs Mcafee
There are many differences between Bye Bye Birdie s stage musical and its movie musical, and these
changes were not made without reason. One of the most noticeable changes is the seeming role
importance reversal of the show s two leading ladies: Kim MacAfee and Rosie Alvarez. While in the
stage musical, Rosie is a domineering, fierce woman with the ability to lead men whichever way she
wanted, and one who refused to back down to the objections of Albert s nagging mother, in the movie
she is dull, even during her musical numbers, and seems to go along with whatever Albert and his
mother instruct her to do. She seems more like a typical American housewife in the making, even

Paul Lynde, who played Harry MacAfee in the show, even quoted that they should have just retitled
the film Hello, Ann Margret (McQueen 1). She is the most electrifying actress in the film from start to
finish, beginning with an iconic sequence in which Margret is moved back and forth on an electric
treadmill with a blue background behind her, singing a title song that was specifically written for the
movie and does not exist in the stage production (King 1). Although Margret s performance of Kim is
simply exquisite, she looks a bit old to play the role (she is 22 playing a 15 year old). However, this
proved to be no problem for the film s screenwriter, Irving Brecher. All of the changes in the film were
made by Brecher, an MGM screenwriter who specialized in movie musicals, most notably Meet Me in
St. Louis, so it is no surprise that these changes were made to fit the cookie cutter American musical
style. Meet Me in St. Louis also featured Judy Garland as the young, virtuous, leading female role
whom audiences loved, so who better to follow her up than Ann Margret

Evaluation Of A Summative Evaluation
Component Two
Type of evaluation The type of evaluation that will be conducted will be a summative evaluation. The
summative evaluation will be conducted at the end of the program to see if the goals of the program
were accomplished. Were the children able to learn about nutrition
Evaluation Goals
1) To determine if this program is successful in educating the children in various cooking techniques.
2) To help children in a low income area discover affordable ways to meal preparation.
3) To determine if the program can be conducted in other low in come areas.
Evaluation Questions
1) Are the children committed to coming to the class on a weekly basis?
2) Is the program providing the children with life skills they can apply at home?
3) Are the children enjoying the program?
Rationale
The rationale of this evaluation is to confirm that the goals of the program are being meet. That the
children are being educated in making healthy choices and participating in the program. In order for
the evaluation to be accurate research needs to determine if the program will be effective.
Component Three
Literature Review Learning how to cook is an essential life skill that not only children need but youth
as well. In an article by Jessica Herbert and her fellow authors they mentioned how by participating in
a cooking program it helps children gain a new perspective on cooking (Herbert et al.2014). Mardie

Alcohol is the secondary factor to all of the character s problems, but it also seems to bring a bit of
relief to stressful situations. Ultimately though, alcohol plays a part in the alleviation of the miserable
characters. Jake especially is manages his suffering by drinking, Under the wine I lost that disgusted
feeling and was happy. It seemed they were all such nice people (150). Jake uses alcohol to disappear
his problems and feelings. He explains in this scene that alcohol clouds his mind of reality. Alcohol
acts as an escapism for the characters. Hemingway s association between war and alcoholism is
crucial to the story. Alcohol can also act as a tool for destruction as presented by Jake when Brett first
comes back into his life after a long time of traveling. He admits, I was a little drunk. Not drunk in any
positive sense but just enough to be careless (29). Jake s description of his own drunkard self reveals
that he is aware of his alcohol fixation. He knows that it can make him reckless and sometimes even
destructive but his broken ego and low self esteem make it easy for him to pick up a glass. Alcohol
drowns Jake s thoughts of his inability to be with his true love, Brett. Without his friends in constant
argument over Brett, Jake sits down to have a drink by himself, I drank a bottle of wine for company.

Roe Vs Rhode Abortion
Forty five years ago, the Supreme Court of the United States infamously declared in the case Roe v.
Wade that abortion was a women s right for the entirety of the pregnancy. 1 This case also limited the
states ability to regulate abortions performed in the three trimesters of pregnancy. Since this decision,
over 60 million unborn children have been killed by abortion.2 By contrast, 1.1 million soldiers have
died in all the U.S. wars combined.3 In a country founded upon the principles of life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness, abortion is one of the greatest downfalls of those principles. It must be
eliminated.

Minorities In Special Education
When a minority group s numbers in special education are statistically higher than they should be,
they are considered disproportionate. It can also be an over representation or under representation of
minority students identified with a learning disability or other type of disability under the IDEA
(2004). Disproportionality is defined as the representation in special education involves comparisons
made between groups of students by race or ethnicity who are identified as eligible for special
education services. According to IDEA (2004), Disproportionality maintains to exist in some of the
categories listed, especially in the areas of the specific Learning Disability (SLD), Emotional
Disturbance (ED), and Intellectual Disability (ID).
Among the contribution to the misidentification of minority students for special education, students
are classified with disabilities. Students with disabilities often have poor classroom instruction

The Attachment Theory and Factors Damaging to Attachment
Attachment Theory
Relationships are the building block for personality and are significant in children s ability to grow
into substantial individuals who can thrive in an often harsh world. Constructing lasting and fulfilling
relationships is an integral part to development as the interpersonal bonds forged are not only highly
sought after but also set the ground work for all upcoming expressive interactions. Relationships and
attachment go hand in hand as attachment is the strong and lasting linkage established between a child
and his or her caregiver. Moreover, attachment significantly influences a large capacity of ones make

These included Secure attachment, Avoidant, and resistant patterns . Also furthering the work of her
predecessors, Mary Main a student of both Ainsworth and Bowlby provided additional categories of
attachment which included the disorganized disoriented pattern. Many children growing up in homes
plagued by substance use of any nature struggle the most when into adulthood and as a result of poor
attachments often develop negative relational patterns. Children in these households often develop
what is known as an avoidant attachment style in which they have not maintained trust with caregivers
early on thus lending to behaviors of mistrust later in life as they weren t provided stability early on.
Culture and Attachment Attachment theory is a great model for understanding the maladaptive
patterns of behavior many adults may present later in life. As relationship and relational patterns are
developed early in life the way in which people view themselves and the world are greatly influenced
by their experiences with attachment figures. Though attachment theory wishes to look at the
universal inner workings of child development and attachment organization it does not fully discuss
the cultural contexts. Attachment theory instead looks to universally categorize the survival needs of
all infants but does not take into consideration cultural, racial, and socio economic elements that may
affect the differential attachment

Arnie Plagiarism
Hi Everyone,
Regarding the College Paper Case Study, I have to say that Reggie and Arnie share almost the same
amount of responsibility, they were both committing plagiarisms. Furthermore, I think that Arnie was
more guilty because he was ought not just to warn Reggie about the consequences, but also he was
responsible for reporting Reggie s behavior as stated in the UoPeople Course Catalog (2017), Students
encountering suspected cases of cheating should discreetly report the violator to their Course

What do I think about plagiarism? well, it is definitely a problem which is present in many aspects of
our life these days. For example, in my field of work, I have seen programmers delivered solutions
that they don t even understand or are capable of improving, simply because what they did was just to
copy and paste their code from a forum. You may argue that it is code, and it could look really similar
one to another, but the truth is that code means ideas, and those could also be plagiarised. Sadly this is
a problem which is not getting any better, especially nowadays where people are able to copy images,

What I would do or recommend to avoid it, is this:
Always take notes of the source of every material you use for your papers in case you need to cite and
reference any of them.
Use tools like an online plagiarism checker, because you may write something you read a long time
ago and that also needs to be cited and referenced.
If you are not sure you are plagiarising, better cite and reference the material to be sure.

Essay on Critical Analysis
Critical Analysis of Guernica By Bryce Craig
Spanish artist Pablo Picasso can often be collectively seen as the greatest and most influential artist of
the twentieth century. In a historical sense he encompassed all that is to be a practicing modernist
artist and prevailed as one of the most significant artists overall in human history. Picasso s most well
renowned painting presents to his audience a graphic reflection of the horrors and brutality of war;
Guernica (1937) depicts the Spanish town of the same name being torn apart by the explosive fury that
was the German air raid on the innocent and unaware village during the Spanish Civil War. The
painting is currently housed in the Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid yet also has a reputable ... Show more

Through his training he became proficient in countless fields but was predominately a painter and
famously explored the Cubist movement. Cubism was an art movement developed in the early 20th
century that was concerned with the dissembling of images and their analytical or synthetic
reconstruction, as well as the refinement of detail and emphasis on bold shape. Picasso found artists
such as Delacroix, Cezanne and Manet extremely influential, as well as his artistic father, Jose Blasco.
Through his challenging of convention to his persistent experimentation of concepts he created some
of the greatest artworks of the 20th century, such as The Old Guitarist, 1903, Les Demoiselles d
Avignon, 1907 and his most well known piece Guernica, 1937.
The audiences of Guernica, 1937 are presented with a chilling message of the terrors of war and its
traumatic impact on humanity; this is the understood function of Picasso s iconic painting, to evoke
emotional response and educate the public of the event. Picasso wished to express his anti war
message to the people, and what more of an opportunity would he have then being commissioned
earlier that year to create an artwork for the 1937 World s Fair, Paris. After the initial exhibition the
work went on tour and has ending up in many different

Flex Crew Essay
In a large city, full of diverse people, finding a musical performance is not hard to come by. Luckily,
as I was searching online for different performances I ran across The Flex Crew performing at Skully
s music diner. I have been to Skully s once before to watch a folk band perform. The atmosphere was a
lot different than when we saw The Flex Crew. Obviously, the genre of music was a lot different,
along with the atmosphere of the crowd. I was very surprised by the number of people in the bar that
evening. Mostly, because the performance started at 11PM and the world series was on. On top of this,
online their website said the show began at 10PM, but like a very great band they came out at their
own pace. In the meantime, there was a DJ performing to keep the crowd alive. The Flex Crew is a
reggae band from the Columbus area. After doing a little research I learned they are known as the best
reggae band in the Midwest.
A friend and I went to Skully s Music Diner on Sunday night to watch The Flex Crew. Their band
consisted of seven members, and they all varied on the different type of instruments. Some were
strictly on vocals, while others were on guitars, drums, pianos, etc. On top of this, the band was very
diverse in regards to their playing and singing. Yes, there was a main guitarist and a main singer, but
throughout the songs they all grabbed different instruments and sang different pieces of the songs. I
also learned they originated from Columbus and have been

How An Oems Helps Buy Side Firms
How an OEMS helps buy side firms to comply with best execution policy (in fixed income market)
Asset managers are fiduciary to clients. In the execution process, asset managers need to demonstrate
reasonable steps to determine a best execution condition, follow their defined best execution trading
policy and perform fair dealing to all client accounts on trades. . In creating best practices, oversight is
essential to foster the process. Compliance, trading, portfolio management, operations and

Broker dealers are under the obligation of providing best execution opportunities to buy side clients.
SEC states that brokers have a duty to provide best executions that are reasonable available.
According CFA institute s trade management guidelines, best execution is defined as the trading
process firms apply that seeks to maximize the value of a client s portfolio within the client s stated
investment objectives and constraints.
There are many factors to be considered when traders are executing client orders. Client instructions,
including mandate and restrictions; Price offered by the market, costs associated with the transaction,
brokerage fees; Speed of the execution, the type of market place and location; Liquidity of the market,

The Hypocritical Church Essay
In the medieval literary masterpiece The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, not only does
Chaucer provide the reader with an entertaining story about a group of approximately thirty pilgrims
who meet (by chance) at an inn, in a suburb of London, on a trip to see the shrine of St. Thomas #225;
Becket in Canterbury cathedral, but he also divulges to the reader a remarkably horrid picture of an
English Church run amok with corruption, greed and, more importantly, hypocrisy.
Writing about pilgrims drawn from almost every rank of 14th century English society, The Canterbury
Tales takes a look at medieval life from (what seems like) every angle and every class, displaying the
actuality of the Church by illuminating and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the bald and oversized Monk that Chaucer tells of is entirely undisciplined. His taste was all for
tracking down hare, meaning he engaged in a forbidden pastime for monks, hunting. He was
fashionable, with sleeves trimmed with gray fur, the finest in the land, and he was fond of precious
metals, wearing a pin made of wrought gold. The Monk is a mere pleasure seeker who relished a plum
swan as his favorite roast. The Prioress, in comparison, has a much more shallow aura about her. She
kept small dogs as pets, which, of course, were forbidden in convents during medieval times, and even
more repugnant, her dogs were fed roasted meat or milk or good wheat bread. Chaucer tell us, She
would weep if she but came upon a mouse caught in a trap, if it were dead or bleeding, implying that
she cares more about the suffering of animals than people. Chaucer uses a barrage of satirical
statements when describing and discussing the Prioress, giving the reader the impression that she
actually contradicts her appearance. She is focused on irrelevant things such as dignity, charm and
pride, as well as wealth, as evidenced by her coral rosary beads with the brooch of golden sheen
hanging from it.
Next we are introduced to the Summoner and the Pardoner, who are two derelict peas in a pod. One of
these men summons those charged by the church for a crime, and the other sells indulgences,
certificates from the pope,

Gender Issues Of Danish Sports Organizations
In Gertrud Pfister s article, Gender Issues in Danish Sports Organizations Experiences, Attitudes and
Evaluations, there is a discussion as to whether women are indeed treated differently in higher
positions of power in Denmark. Pfister uses statistics and studies to prove her argument that women
are indeed treated differently and presented differently in the organizations. She even begins to touch
on the fact that men and women are portrayed wrongly in the studies she talks about. Throughout the
article women are presented in a mann that suggests they could not possibly be an ideal leader in the
ways that men can nor can they deal with responsibilities of such a job.
Pfister makes Denmark s position on women being equal to men and deserving of the same
opportunities as them known but adds that they re still under represented (27).Women are free to join
the same workforces as men and partake in the same activities as men but how they are treated within
these occupations is what she finds compelling. Pfister aims to identify reasons for the existing gender
hierarchy (27) and accomplishes this by using the results of quantitive surveys on Danish sports
leaders performed by herself, her peers and those who have wished to investigate this topic as well.
We as readers can see for ourselves that throughout the world the power appears to be in the hands of
men (27). For example, how many world leaders do we see that are of the female sex? According to

At this stage of development a child is more capable cognitively to conserve. Piaget considered the
concrete stage a major turning point in the child s cognitive development because it marks the
beginning of logical or operational thought. The child is now mature enough, cognitively, to use
logical thought or operations (i.e. rules) but can only apply logic to physical objects (hence concrete
operational). Children become less egocentric and better at conservation tasks. This means that the
child understands that although the appearance of something changes, the thing itself does not. For
example, if you take two pieces of string that are the same length and scrunch one up, a child will
reply that the scrunched one is shorter, if conservation hasn t yet been reached. The other two children,
aged 2.6 years and 3 years were still also in the Pre Operational Stage of development and so neither
were at the cognitive development stage to enable them to conserve. Personal Learning: I found after
carrying out this observation that children respond very well on a one to one basis, i.e. when the
teacher was asking each individual child the questions relating to the Conservation test they all
responded well and enjoyed the activity. I feel they felt they really belonged, therefore I was able to

Colombia Drug Policy
The US Approach in Colombia
As the United States is one of the largest drug consumers in the world they view drugs particularly
cocaine as a threat to US national security that undermines US economy, value, and identity. With this
in mind, the US uses an approach that assumes that if there is no supply then there would be no
demand, contradicting the capitalist concept of supply demand. US drug policy is divided into two
groups from policies of control to policies of aid. In Colombia, the United States has been using its
political and economic influence mainly through economic assistance since Andean states generally

When college pops up in the mind of a high school graduate they sometimes ask themselves, is it
really worth it . Well the answer is yes! College is very much worth it. Many times people have
debated on wether to go to college or just stay as a high school graduate.
But i m here to prove that college is worth it because you get paid more, earn responsibility, and you
get health insurance and retirement plans.
First, college is more valuable because you get paid more. According to Pro Con Arguments it states,
on average, a college graduate with a bachelor degree earned $30,000 more per year than a high
school graduate, over $500,000 more over an year. This shows that high school graduates don t make
a lot of money, that s why it s important to get an education and money. Getting an education gets you
money and it s important to go to college because if you don t go to college you are more likely to
never gain responsibility for anything you do in life. Most people agree with going to college to make

issue throughout American history. Only in recent years has the problem been resolved, but even now
there is still some issues. Some private groups are still against some races. Even though slavery was

The racism issues during this period of time, caused lots of hate and crime. Fortunately during this

Modeling The Agrometeorological Indices Of The Surface...
. Modeling the agrometeorological indices
The surface temperature (T0) product was not used because with a lower spatial resolution (1000 km),
there were cloud contaminations in some parts of the Minas Gerais state along the years. Instead, T0
was retrieved by residue in the radiation balance after having estimated the atmospheric and surface
emissivities (Teixeira et al., 2016a,b).
Cleugh et al. (2007) pointed out that the use of instantaneous measurements of the radiometric surface
temperature to calculate time averaged fluxes led to errors. They emphasized uncertainties in models
which use the MODIS 8 day that is a composite of once daily overpass at ~ 10:30 h local time. In this
case, the radiometric temperature is determined under a view angle at the satellite overpass time, using
emissivities based on vegetation classes at a 1 km grid that differs from that of the MODIS pixel
location.
The parameterizations involved in the agrometeorological indices by using the SAFER algorithm in
this chapter were done in Brazil with simultaneous satellite and field measurements, under strong
contrasting agro ecosystems and thermohydrological conditions throughout different years (Teixeira et
al., 2008, 2014a). In addition, acquiring T0 as residue in the radiation balance gives mutual
compensation, reducing possible errors in this model input parameter, and as in the upward and
downward longwave fluxes, they are self canceling. Moreover, a correction factor is applied to

Ecology is a vast study of living things and how they interact. By gathering ideas from Chapter 13,
Chapter 14, and Chapter 16 we learned many things about ecology. To tie these things all together, we
watched the movie Never Cry Wolf . This movie showed us that in every type of environment there
are connections that are more human than we know. The main character, Tyler, is sent on a mission in
the Arctic to study wolves and see if they are responsible for the population decrease of caribou. He

One being, habitat and niche. The wolves habitat was the arctic and one of its niches was that it hunts
in a pack. Another niche is that they only have a few cubs like George and Angelica had 2 cubs.
Secondly, competition and predation. The text says that every ecosystem has this trait and the movie
definitely supports that. In the movie there was competition over food and the predation of the
caribou. Third, population density and dispersion. The different packs of wolves moved all around and
were dispersed and not very dense at all. Though, the caribou were very dense and traveled all
together not just a few in one pack. Fourth, population growth. Like previously mentioned, wolves
only have a few cubs so the population growth stays mostly the same. Lastly, the ecological
succession. This happened more with the caribou than the wolves because of their decline in
population from the wolves. Lastly, in Chapter 16 there were many points about human impact on
ecosystems. In Never Cry Wolf , the human impact wasn t huge, but it existed. Ootek implied that
killing a wolf is worth a lot of money. Chapter 16 focused on water quality too, which can relate to the
movie. If the wolves, or Tyler for that matter, didn t have clean water they wouldn t be able to survive.
There are not many people in the Arctic, so there isn t much pollution. The ecological footprint of the
wolves was small because they don t have trash

The Theory And Practice Of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism
The Theory and Practice of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism First published in 1949, Orwell certainly
believed that the novel would have some higher purpose in the political sphere, and it did. But perhaps
it wasn t the purpose that was truly intended? Nearly seventy years after its first appearance, 1984 can
be found on many high school, college and political group reading lists. Coining terms such as Big
Brother, or thoughtcrime, the novel created an entirely new type of dystopian society defined by many
as Orwellian. But with close reading one can see that George Orwell wrote 1984 for a very specific
purpose. In 1984 Orwell writes about the dangers of deviating from a true socialist society. In order to
completely understand 1984, one must first understand the history surrounding the novel. Written
from 1947 to December 1948, 1984 first hit shelves in June of 1949. The Second World War, which
ravaged England, Europe, and much of the world, ended a mere four years prior. Along with the rest
of Europe, London was still rebuilding from the constant bombings, and still mourning the incredible
loss of life. But there was a growing threat that could not be ignored. The Soviet Union, in an effort to
prevent future attacks, occupied much of Eastern Europe (known as the Eastern Bloc), including
Eastern Germany, and the eastern portion of Berlin. As the year 1948 came and went, the people of
Europe saw the Berlin Blockade, and the monumental airlift to keep West Berlin

History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements
Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The
construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements.
Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649,
the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered
phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding
concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a
collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists
began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French
geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their
individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven
elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic
table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly
produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Meyer s 1864 textbook
included a shortened version of the periodic table, which contained about half of the known elements
ordered by their atomic weight and valence charges. In 1868, Meyer assembled a prolonged version of

  • 2. Alliteration In Edgar Allen Poe s The Bells Alliteration a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur close together in a series. Example What a tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells! (38). Poe, The Bells Function: Context In The Bells by Edgar Allan Poe, four different bells ring out at different times in the speaker s life. The silver bells pour out a sense of happiness and joy as they are tinkling on the sledge. Golden bells ring out a warm and rich sound as a wedding takes place. The poem takes a turn as bronze alarm bells send out a sound of warning for a fire. The line is presented as the bronze bells ring out for a sudden shift of mood. That mood grows in intensity in the next stanza, where iron bells strike a heavy and dark tone as they signal a death. Concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Penicillin Essay Penicillin was accidentally discovered at St. Mary s Hospital, London in 1929 by Dr. Alexander Fleming. As test continued, Fleming began to realize that he was on the verge of a great discovery. However, he still did not know the identity of the fungus, and had little knowledge of fungi. His crude extracts could be diluted 1,000 times and still be effective in killing bacteria. After years of working on penicillin and going nowhere, many of his co workers grew tired of hearing about it. The first real test for penicillin came when a 48 year old police officer nicked himself shaving. After a time, Alexander s face became infected and he developed a temperature. When he was rushed to the hospital, the doctors believed that he had only hours ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Penicillin brought about the biggest search in medical history. It was reasoned that if there was one antibiotic in nature, there must be many more, and there were. If anything should be taken off of the Basic s List, it should be Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is simply survival of the fittest. This a simple view, and is not practiced much very often. Penicillin on the other hand, has saved thousands, if not millions of lives, and started its own medical revolution to seek for new cures to other things as well. World War II turning points are much more important than penicillin. If there were not any breaks for the American troops, then there would have been many more lives lost in the war than needed. Possibly, there would be more lives lost in the fighting than saved by penicillin in its fist two decades of public use. Penicillin has helped save many lives throughout the years. It has cured things like strep throat, which many people have had in their lives, syphilis, and gonorrhea. It also sparked a new wave of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main part of the research stems from interviews in Azerbaijan 5 interviews, 2 interviews in Beijing, and two Skype interviews with international experts. Totally, I had 9 respondents to conduct my research. Of these, I did 7 face to face interviews, and other 2 interviews were conducted via Skype video call. On January I travelled to Azerbaijan, Baku (to the capital city) for gathering interviews and related important documents. Apart from interviews, my research focuses on secondary data collection and analysis. With secondary data I mean various types of secondary resources such as reports, ... Sampling As the topic is related to the political sphere many problems occurred during the sampling procedure. The main focus of the study to identify the risk factors and their effects for Azerbaijan to be a transport hub. Due to that reason I planned to do semi structured interviews with political officials, scholars, from Azerbaijan to understand the officials points of view about the issue. Firstly, I started with the help of Centre for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and I did one of my interviews there. They referred me other experts who focus this study arena. I would like to mention that finding respondents for my research was a little bit difficult. Because the topic is related to political sphere. I was planning to do interviews with for instance, deputies of National Assembly, senior advisors from Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan, officials from Port of Baku and so on. From this point of view, conducting my research I needed political official, scholars, transport and logistics experts. First problem came from the topic. China s relationship with South Caucasus, especially with Azerbaijan is brand new topic for scholars. Due to that reason finding experts and scholar who has deep knowledge on this topic made problem for my sampling. As the topic relates to sensitive issue limitations of answers during the ... Harper to nobody s surprise is and was a fiscal conservative, meaning that the conservative government did not want to spend much, on social welfare programs, and various other initiatives while balancing the budget. This was perhaps the election of fiscal conservatism as even left wingers such as The NDP and The Green Party, who are usually the parties who suggest an easy monetary policy. Trudeau was only person in this election who was promising an easy money policy, this idea is not a new one, and it was originally introduced by economist John Maynard Keynes in the 1930 s. The easy money policy guarantees an increase in aggregate demand in the economy as the government increases spending and runs large deficits. This is the same economic plan that would allow Justin Trudeau s father Pierre Trudeau to prosper as Canadian Prime Minister for 15 years, and is in fact called Trudeaunomics, based on their own personal brand of financial policies. Poignant quote that is a perfect introduction to an discussion on the loneliness and Disappointment in life. Loneliness and disappointment are universal struggles suffered by mankind since the beginning of time. Loneliness and disappointment are so common that every person will feel their impact at some point in life. • 9. Kenneth Dodge s Theory Of Juvenile Delinquency Deviance among adolescents in our society has many different causes and multiple theories throughout the history of criminal justice have been developed to attempt to explain, prevent and reduce incidents of status offenses and juvenile delinquency. There are theories varying from individual, to social and environmental. All of these theories have their merits and contribute in one way or another to the advancement of the understanding of juvenile delinquency and the treatment and prevention of delinquency within our society. Those that have proven to be successful we have applied in our justice system while those that are proven over time to be ineffective or defective we have discarded. There is no single theory that applies to all delinquent behavior in all situations. It is best to determine what theory may work best in each specific case based on the individual and the specific situation. Dodge s information processing theory of social problem solving (Crick and Dodge 1994) was developed by Kenneth Dodge in an attempt to explain the interaction between the child s cognitive development and their social environment. This theory combines elements of both the individual and the social environment and examines how these two variables interact with each other to present a model for juvenile delinquency. During my investigation of this topic I discovered that an adapted model of Dodge s theory existed that seemed to be more encompassing of the causes of juvenile delinquency, ... • 11. The Importance Of Clean Drinking Water In India One of the biggest challenges facing the world today is the emphasis on providing clean water to everyone throughout the world. This is a fairly easy task in wealthier countries with strong central governments which establish regulations on how waterways are maintained and treated, however in developing countries like India the task is insurmountable. With India s population soon to surpass China by 2022 , there is a huge concern in the lack of clean drinking water for many of their citizens (Riley, 2015). If India s population is going to continue to rise at the rates it is experiencing today, the government must create more initiatives to alter the poor hygiene practices by its citizens, to ensure everyone has access to clean drinking water. One of the biggest problems facing India s access to clean water is the practice of improper hygiene, which is seen from the astronomical amount of people that presently practice open defecation or someone defecating outside in the open. The practice stems from early human civilization, but without much emphasis on the problem over the past century, it has continued to rise with India s rising population. In India, a staggering 522 million of their citizens practice open defecation (India, n.d.). This is an extreme cause for concern in a country that has such a dense population due to its population size compared to the countries overall size. What this entails is that even if the amount of people who practice open defecation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most noticeable changes is the seeming role importance reversal of the show s two leading ladies: Kim MacAfee and Rosie Alvarez. While in the stage musical, Rosie is a domineering, fierce woman with the ability to lead men whichever way she wanted, and one who refused to back down to the objections of Albert s nagging mother, in the movie she is dull, even during her musical numbers, and seems to go along with whatever Albert and his mother instruct her to do. Although Margret s performance of Kim is simply exquisite, she looks a bit old to play the role (she is 22 playing a 15 year old). Children become less egocentric and better at conservation tasks. This means that the child understands that although the appearance of something changes, the thing itself does not. For example, if you take two pieces of string that are the same length and scrunch one up, a child will reply that the scrunched one is shorter, if conservation hasn t yet been reached. The other two children, aged 2.6 years and 3 years were still also in the Pre Operational Stage of development and so neither were at the cognitive development stage to enable them to conserve. Personal Learning: I found after carrying out this observation that children respond very well on a one to one basis, i.e. when the teacher was asking each individual child the questions relating to the Conservation test they all responded well and enjoyed the activity. I feel they felt they really belonged, therefore I was able to piece together the Aistear theme of Identity and Belonging ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Colombia Drug Policy The US Approach in Colombia As the United States is one of the largest drug consumers in the world they view drugs particularly cocaine as a threat to US national security that undermines US economy, value, and identity. With this in mind, the US uses an approach that assumes that if there is no supply then there would be no demand, contradicting the capitalist concept of supply demand. US drug policy is divided into two groups from policies of control to policies of aid. With no statutory ending date for the plan, the plan programs continued through the Andean Counterdrug Initiative (ACI). During the Bush s second term, the administration changed its focus to face the economic issues by implementing a Free Trade Area (FTA) within the Americas. Later on, under President Barack Obama there has been significant changes since the Bush s administration strategy was unsuccessful. Military cooperation with Colombia has increased with the Obama administration. The five themes are mission, manifest destiny, industrialization, imperialism, and race. Racism has been an issue throughout American history. Only in recent years has the problem been resolved, but even now there is still some issues. Some private groups are still against some races. Even though slavery was abolished in 1865 by the thirteenth amendment, it declared that Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 prohibited segregation and discrimination in employment and other areas. The racism issues during this period of time, caused lots of hate and crime. Fortunately during this period of time, slavery had already been abolished but it took many years to completely have equal rights for all races. Organizations have formed for anti racist and civil rights activism such as the NAACP, National Association of the Advancement of Colored People, and other groups as well. Since America has the right of freedom of speech, groups that are racist are allowed but if they involve any violence they will be prosecuted for their actions. Throughout the years we have had more African Americans running for governor, congress, and even President. In 1989 L. Douglas Wilder became the first black elected governor. • 32. Modeling The Agrometeorological Indices Of The Surface... . Modeling the agrometeorological indices The surface temperature (T0) product was not used because with a lower spatial resolution (1000 km), there were cloud contaminations in some parts of the Minas Gerais state along the years. Instead, T0 was retrieved by residue in the radiation balance after having estimated the atmospheric and surface emissivities (Teixeira et al., 2016a,b). Cleugh et al. (2007) pointed out that the use of instantaneous measurements of the radiometric surface temperature to calculate time averaged fluxes led to errors. They emphasized uncertainties in models which use the MODIS 8 day that is a composite of once daily overpass at ~ 10:30 h local time. In this case, the radiometric temperature is determined under a view angle at the satellite overpass time, using emissivities based on vegetation classes at a 1 km grid that differs from that of the MODIS pixel location. The parameterizations involved in the agrometeorological indices by using the SAFER algorithm in this chapter were done in Brazil with simultaneous satellite and field measurements, under strong contrasting agro ecosystems and thermohydrological conditions throughout different years (Teixeira et al., 2008, 2014a). In addition, acquiring T0 as residue in the radiation balance gives mutual compensation, reducing possible errors in this model input parameter, and as in the upward and downward longwave fluxes, they are self canceling. Moreover, a correction factor is applied to ET/ET0 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To tie these things all together, we watched the movie Never Cry Wolf . This movie showed us that in every type of environment there are connections that are more human than we know. The main character, Tyler, is sent on a mission in the Arctic to study wolves and see if they are responsible for the population decrease of caribou. The wolves habitat was the arctic and one of its niches was that it hunts in a pack. Another niche is that they only have a few cubs like George and Angelica had 2 cubs. Secondly, competition and predation. The text says that every ecosystem has this trait and the movie definitely supports that. In the movie there was competition over food and the predation of the caribou. Third, population density and dispersion. The different packs of wolves moved all around and were dispersed and not very dense at all. Though, the caribou were very dense and traveled all together not just a few in one pack. Fourth, population growth. Like previously mentioned, wolves only have a few cubs so the population growth stays mostly the same. Lastly, the ecological succession. This happened more with the caribou than the wolves because of their decline in population from the wolves. Lastly, in Chapter 16 there were many points about human impact on ecosystems. In Never Cry Wolf , the human impact wasn t huge, but it existed. Ootek implied that killing a wolf is worth a lot of money. Chapter 16 focused on water quality too, which can relate to the movie. If the wolves, or Tyler for that matter, didn t have clean water they wouldn t be able to survive. There are not many people in the Arctic, so there isn t much pollution. The ecological footprint of the wolves was small because they don t have trash ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Theory And Practice Of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism The Theory and Practice of Orwell s Libertarian Socialism First published in 1949, Orwell certainly believed that the novel would have some higher purpose in the political sphere, and it did. But perhaps it wasn t the purpose that was truly intended? Nearly seventy years after its first appearance, 1984 can be found on many high school, college and political group reading lists. Coining terms such as Big Brother, or thoughtcrime, the novel created an entirely new type of dystopian society defined by many as Orwellian. But with close reading one can see that George Orwell wrote 1984 for a very specific purpose. In 1984 Orwell writes about the dangers of deviating from a true socialist society. In order to completely understand 1984, one must first understand the history surrounding the novel. Written from 1947 to December 1948, 1984 first hit shelves in June of 1949. The Second World War, which ravaged England, Europe, and much of the world, ended a mere four years prior. Along with the rest of Europe, London was still rebuilding from the constant bombings, and still mourning the incredible loss of life. But there was a growing threat that could not be ignored. The Soviet Union, in an effort to prevent future attacks, occupied much of Eastern Europe (known as the Eastern Bloc), including Eastern Germany, and the eastern portion of Berlin. As the year 1948 came and went, the people of Europe saw the Berlin Blockade, and the monumental airlift to keep West Berlin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History Of The Periodic Table Of Elements Leonardo Miranda Mr. Tagami Chemistry 10/24/14 History of the Periodic Table of Elements The construction of the Periodic Table of Elements was prior to the discovery of the individual elements. Elements such as silver, gold, tin, copper, lead and mercury have been known for centuries. In 1649, the first scientific discovery of an element was made by Hennig Brand when he discovered phosphorous. Prior to Brand s discovery, chemists had acquired an immense body of understanding concerning the properties of elements and their compounds for the next 200 years. By the year 1869, a collection of 63 elements had been revealed. As the number of known elements increased, scientists began to notice patterns in properties and formulate classification schemes. In 1862, a French geologist, A.E.Beguyer de Chancourtois, recorded a list of the elements on a cylinder regarding their individual atomic weights. He was the first to identify that elemental properties reoccur every seven elements. There has been some deviation on who deserves credit for being the father of the periodic table, either the German Lothar Meyer or the Russian Dmitri Mendeleev. Both chemists shockingly produced similar results during the same time period working individually. Meyer s 1864 textbook included a shortened version of the periodic table, which contained about half of the known elements ordered by their atomic weight and valence charges. In 1868, Meyer assembled a prolonged version of the periodic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
