Darwin Vs Lamarck Analysis
It s a thursday night and the weirdest things has just happened to me a bunch of scientists had just
arrived at my door and i am confused and shocked at the same time right now i m wondering if they
will be joining us for dinner but first i m going to go grab a tape recorder so i have proof to show that i
did meet these people. Later that night we were having a good laugh, somehow we ended up talking
about evolution charles and lamarck were arguing about inherited traits and acquired characteristics.
lamarck was saying that if an organism needed a certain trait that they were able to obtain it and how
that once it is obtained it can be passed onto the offspring. Then charles darwin starts to argue by
saying that organisms cannot pass on acquired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually ernst mayr says that he is going back home then, linnaeus starts to go then as the night
progresses most of them go back home except for lamarck and charles darwin. Then all of the sudden
we hear a knock on the door knock, knock, knock i ask them to wait i walk over to see that it is walt
disney and then that is when everyone else starts to come back i asked him what is he doing at my
house he says that sometimes the littlest things can have an impact on the biggest things that go
around. I start to freak out i went to the bathroom to throw cold water at my face just to see if
everything is real then since it is all happening i ask for a million dollars sadly but i saw ten dollars
and fifty cents but at least i had some cash because i was almost broke. I start to talk to walt disney
and ask him why did he built the theme park and how he was even standing in my house. I was having
the time of my life then i got scared because i had thought what if the tape recorder wasn t recording i

The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And...
INTRODUCTION
Background and Problem
September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library,
Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked
and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing
into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an
hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to
Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black
Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts.
To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely
represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war
against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many
critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential
threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of
the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains
[t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even
threatened, was when the British burned

Expedited Naturalization
The good thing about the U.S. army is that an illegal immigrant can become a citizen if they are
enrolled in the army. That is a chance that an undocumented immigrant can t get deported, Special
provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) authorize U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services (USCIS) to expedite the application and naturalization process for current members of the
U.S. armed forces and recently discharged servicemembers. Generally, qualifying military service
includes service with one of the following: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and
National Guard. In addition, spouses of members of the U.S. armed forces who are or will be deployed
may be eligible for expedited naturalization. Other provisions

Demise of the Weimar Republic
The demise of the Weimar Republic did not occur due to one sole reason, but because of a number of
short and long term factors. The economic, political and international pressure placed on the people of
Germany ensured the loathing of the forced governmental rule. The immediate impact of the Great
Depression of 1929, which has been debated and considered by most historians to be the dominant
factor in the downfall of the democratic experiment which subsequently led to continuous political
instability ultimately saw the collapse of the first democratic government of Germany.
Some historians generally blame the fall of the Republic on president von Hindenburg s abuse of
constitutional powers. Historian David Martin states that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Before the US dollar has been 4.2 marks, by 1920 it was worth 64.8 marks thus German taxation
increased. Anyone with access to even a few pounds became a trillionaires over night. The losers of
the hyperinflation were those with a fixed income, the working class, people living off their savings
and wage earners. By June 1923, the government had lost control of the economy, as strikes swepped
the country as workers protested about the rising unemployment and the failure of their wages to keep
up with the cost of living. In August, the govenment finally fell, with President Ebert called for the
leader of the German people party, Streseman, to form a new party. He formed the great coalition
which brought together left and right wing. In the next six years, German society picked up with the
induction into the League of Nations, the Dawes plan of 1924 which provided foreign loans to
Germany and the Young Plan which saw the reduction in Germany s reparation figure by 95 million.
The downside of Germany s new economic prosperity meant that society was living off borrowed
money and was over dependant on foreign loans and investment. The economic power was
concentrated in the hands of influential industrialists and bankers and employment was still on the
rise. Within these six years, the Weimar republic surprisingly enjoyed a period of relative political
stability.

Thesis Statement For Universal Education
Countless countries benefit from a capitalistic system, but others, like Denmark, the Netherlands, and
the Czech Republic, have a more socialistic giving society, offering free or low cost schools, universal
medical care, as well as supportive welfare to citizens. The world would gain from a higher quality of
free education. The United States would benefit from educating people free of charge. My belief of a
fair universal education offered to everyone, no matter their place of origin, is shaped by experiencing
the benefits of free education growing up in Czechoslovakia, by living in the Netherlands, and the
United States. As a child growing up under the strict influence of forbidden profits of capitalism and
receiving an education free of charge, socialistic ideals shape my worldview. Being born in
Czechoslovakia (the Czech Republic since 1993) under a communist, socialist regime with an
underlying suppressed democracy, my worldview is based on child s idealistic views of living together
with beliefs of equality of all people. Even though the restricted media and the limited amount of
imported goods made it easier for the communist government to influence and dictate the mainstream
population, it shielded me from the political world, because I was a child. Therefore, I was only
gaining the benefits of the system free medical care and an excellent education. In the 4th Grade,
government appointed school commissioners selected many students, including me and my

Critical Appreciation Of St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas, in his Summa Theologica, clearly states that self esteem, as it is understood
today, is completely incompatible with holiness. He believes that the only way self love can ever be an
orderly love is when it seeks not sensational well being (elevated self love), but only the spiritual good
of the person (holiness). St. Thomas Aquinas explains that inordinate self love is the root cause of
every sin: Every sinful act proceeds from inordinate desire for some temporal good. Now the fact that
anyone desires a temporal good inordinately is due to the fact that he loves himself inordinately; for to
wish some good to someone is to love him. Therefore it is evident that inordinate self love is the cause
of every sin (ST I II. Q77. A4.). Aquinas describes a type of egoism that causes us to turn away from
God. Having high self esteem can be associated at times with human desire of selfishness and greed.
Aquinas simply believes that every sin is a form of inordinate self love. This is a false sense of self
love.
Brother John Sica also writes in the Dominicana Journal that many people falsely think of humility as
a virtue of a low self esteem. Instead, he says, St. Thomas actually teaches us that humility is a virtue
of acknowledging the truth about reality. Since prayer, at its root, is an asking directed at God,
humility is crucially important. Through humility, we recognize our neediness before God. We are
totally and entirely dependent on God for everything and at every moment: our existence, life, breath,
every thought and action.
In similar thought, St. Augustine wrote in Book 1, Chapter I of Confessions, You have made us for
yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you. Throughout his life, he had
been a heretic and sinner with high self esteem. He liked himself, admired himself, and was proud of
the image that others had of him; this was what kept him grounded in his lifestyle. In his Confessions,
he even recalls how he saw good and knew what he had to do, but could not bring himself to do it
because he himself had woven the chains that were keeping him bound. It was when he finally
realized his miserable state that alas, his self esteem fell. He

Pros And Cons Of Providing Scotland s Independence
With the whole world watching Scotland take their chance to become independent, many were
shocked at Ireland s vote to reject this independence. With a 55% vote, Scotland has decided to stay a
part of the United Kingdom.
On September 18, 2014, Scotland held a vote to decide if they were to become an independent country
or continue being a part of the United Kingdom. The people have spoken, and they have spoken to
reject independence. This close poll has shocked many people around the world, including the people
who live in Scotland. But this poll brought a new realization of what the people were asking for and
what they wanted, and upset the ones that still wanted and voted for independence. Thus forming the
two perspectives: those who support independence for Scotland, and those whose who support the
rejection of independence.
Those in support of independence wanted to focus more on the needs of Scotland, and decisions that
would reflect more primarily on its priorities. The people feel by putting Scotland s priorities first, the
confidence in the country and its abilities would then be increased. Additionally, Scotland could get

The Rosetta Stone Essay
The Rosetta Stone
In 1799, when Napoleon s army was dismantling a wall in Rashid, Egypt, they discovered the Rosetta
Stone. Little did they know that this 11 inch thick piece of rock would be one of the greatest
discoveries in history! It contained Egyptian scripture, with Greek also on the stone. This was used to
decode the once lost Egyptian writing system. Before the 1800 s, attempts at trying to uncover the
secrets held by the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics found on walls inside numerous tombs were
useless. The pictures were falsely believed to be symbolic, representing some sort of object or idea.
Something soon changed all of this misconception. 1799 was the year of a great breakthrough in
Egyptology. French troops, under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another man who devoted many years of his life to studying the stone was Jean Francois
Champollion. After many years of perseverance, Champollion finally translated the stone in 1822. He
accomplished this feat by first recognizing that hieroglyphs were not symbols, but instead were
associated with phonetics, as Thomas Young had proved. (Andrews 166) His first major breakthrough
in his studies was in 1808, when he resolved those fifteen signs of the demotic script related with
alphabetic letters from the Coptic language. From this he concluded that Coptic language must be
based on the remnants of the last of the ancient Egyptian language, and written with the Greek
alphabet, which is why it was readable to Champollion and other scholars researching the stone. Also,
that the hieroglyphic text was a translation of the Greek, not the reverse, as had been previously
believed. By 1818, Champollion had successfully concluded that though some signs were basically
ideograms, many of the glyphs had phonetic value, meaning the ancient Egyptian script was at least
partially alphabetic. (Giblin 83) He came to this conclusion after referring back to three other different
forms of Egyptian writing and also using Coptic as a reference. Recognizing the name Ptolemy and
Cleopatra in the Greek and demotic sections of the stone allowed him to identify those same names in
hieroglyphics. Still wondering, he didn t think that hieroglyphs were

Describe Your Happy Place
Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla
Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which
most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and
explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and
neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had
lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull
affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life
experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one
true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place.
Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut
off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the
bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up
and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy
had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun
marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They
began draining the dam to make way

Catholics Should Legalize Euthanasia
Euthanasia is a controversial topic all around the world. Many governments debate whether or not it
should be legal inside their borders. Catholics have a particular definition of what euthanasia is, why
its is against our human rights, and why it should be stopped. The catholic definition of euthanasia is
that it is a grave violation of G d s law, since it it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable killing of
a human person (Evangelium Vitae). Euthanasia is the killing of one s self before G d does, and
therefore morally wrong. By killing one s self, we do not allow room for G d in our lives and reject
His plan for His creation. It also is the act of predicting the future (which no one can do), and not
allowing G d to permit miracles and intervene into one s life. It also violates the virtue of hope
because it denies that G d is never ending with his love of every human person.
No one except G d can make the final decision about when our lives should end. We do not have the
right to dictate when and where we should die. A right is a moral claim, and only G d posses that
power over us; We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted us. It is not ours to dispose
of, (CCC 2279). We do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Utilitarianism And The Dehumanization Of The LGBT Community
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that states that the best moral action is the one that produces the
greater amount of utility, or the most positivity. Utilitarianists recognize that the acceptance of
homosexual, bisexual, and trangendered individuals would result in an abundance of positive
outcomes such as: the acceptance of individuals, nondiscriminatory laws, desexualization of same sex
couples, reduced hate crimes, and the humanization of individuals who are humans. Individuals who

Cronus God of time and king of Titans
My research paper is about the Greek Titan Kronos/Cronus which are his Greek name or Saturn for his
Roman name was the terrible father of the Olympians. He was also the king of titans which were
overthrown by their own children the Olympians. In Greek mythology we all know his ending was

Descriptive Essay On My Thursday Morning
The clock glares off the white tile floor, my blushed face matches the bright lettering on the clock.
Collected dust and dirt from the students shoes has now ended up all along of the back of my pants.
What a great way to start off my thursday morning. Beep, beep, beep, sounded my alarm, 7:05 glared
across the screen of my fluorescent alarm clock into my squinted eyes in the barely lit room. My legs
quickly jolted out of my bed, I was late again, I was supposed to be in the car by 7:25, of course since
I was already running very late, it was also the type of morning when I had nothing prepared. I had no
idea what to wear, and hadn t packed my lunch or backpack, but at this point i had only been awake
for around 5 minutes, so I wasn t thinking very clearly. I grabbed all of my stuff and made it out the
door only 5 minutes late. Since I left a little bit late, I had to sit in traffic on Woodruff Road, but
luckily I made it to first period on time, I was in geometry, when the teacher asked us to get out our

my thursday couldn t get much worse, I was wrong.

How to Become a Bow Hunter Essay examples
Bow hunting can be a fun and exiting sport to do. But first you must learn how to do so. There several
steps involved becoming a successful bow hunter. You must have proper equipment, good hunting
habitat, and skill with a little technique. Have a nice bow with comfortable poundage that you can
draw back easily fully dressed. Too much poundage will surely give you away. A compound bow or a
recurve bow will both work well. Compound bows are more expensive and are require frequent
tuning. Recurve bows are simple and quite. The choice is up to you.
Bow hunting is relatively not a cheap sport to do. You must first purchase a tree stand with a ladder or

If you happen to be very lucky and have an ATV this will assist you like no tomorrow. Any kind of
ATV will help. As long as it has front and rear racks. These will allow you to strap your equipment
down and scout larger plots of land. This will allow for finding that just right hunting blind. If you
happen to shoot a deer the DNR does allow you to retrieve it using your ATV. This means you can
enter the woods (off the trail) to retrieve your deer. If you have never dragged a deer, it is very hard.
Your ATV will make things much easier. Having an ATV is not necessary, but they are a lot of
fun.Older people who cannot walk well might appreciate these more than younger people.
Try to select an area where the hunting pressure is not too high. Hunting in an area that is
overcrowded is much harder. Having to compete for land and deer population will limit your chances
to be successful in hunting deer. It is much easier to find a friend with private property. This way you
can set up where you want and not have to worry about having a neighbor. Private property is also
nice because the deer are not always running scared because the hunting pressure is not so high. When

Identity And Identity In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
HOW DOES ONE DEFINE ONE S HERITAGE
It has been said that One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be,
rather than being yourself. What should matter is being true to oneself and loving the person that you
have become. This short story is narrated by Mama who is telling her story of her two daughters, Dee
and Maggie. Both daughters live their lives in very different ways. In Dee s case, she goes out to make
all that she can of herself while leaving her mother and sister behind. Maggie stays at home with their
Mama and makes the most out of what surrounds her. All three ladies have different perspectives of
their own heritage and identity. The conflict in Everyday Use is that Mama has these two daughters
fighting over a quilt. In the end, readers will find that what matters most is not forgetting where you
come from and who you are as a person. In Everyday Use Alice Walker emphasizes to her readers the
importance of self identities and family through her use of conflict, setting, and characterization,
suggesting that sometimes people are so motivated in pleasing others while neglecting the things that
matter to them the most.
One s heritage and identity should not be separated from one s everyday life. The Everyday Use story
takes place in the late 1960s in the southern regions of America during the time when African
Americans were fighting for their identity and to preserve whatever heritage they have. According to
the statement that Mama made, colored asked fewer questions then than they do now . In the yard,
Mama awaits her daughter s return. The theme setting plays an important role in this story because of
Dee, the eldest daughter chooses to leave the place where she had grown up because she believes that
nothing will become of her if she stays in her home town. She chooses to leave home and get an
education while her sister Maggie stays home and is looked down upon by her sister because she
chose to stay at home. According to Mama, A yard like this is more comfortable than most people
know. It is not just a yard. It is an extended living room. 1 The yard and the comparison to the living
room are very clear that one think of one s living room as a

Not Belonging In Shakespeare s As You Like It
To belong is to have an affinity to a place or person. In this way, not belonging may be even more
important than belonging as often individuals must be alienated in order to truly accept and understand
their own identity. Such a notion is explored within the Shakespearean play, As you Like it, written in
1603. The text clearly illustrates the way in which not belonging to people, place and society is even
more important that belonging as it allows an individual to gain a heightened understanding of the
value of belonging and identity. Not belonging to people can lead individuals to gain a deeper
understanding of the value of belonging. As seen in As You Like it, several characters are forced to
experience alienation in order to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea is evident in the play as several characters who are isolated from The Court are able to
deepen their understanding of identity. Shakespeare uses the character of Duke Senior to illustrate
such an idea. The Duke is banished from the court by his younger brother and placed into exile in the
Forest of Arden. It is through this displacement into the natural world and his experiences in tongues
in trees, sermons in stones, books in running brooks and good in everything , that the Duke is able to
truly develop his identity. The personification of nature as the teacher implies that the Duke has been
taught about a new sense of identity. This demonstrates that the Duke s alienation from the court has
allowed him to become a part of the natural world and in turn enrich his own identity and sense of
self. In a similar way, the character of Jaques is able to deepen his understanding about the values of
belonging through his alienation from the court. However, this alienation is by choice not force. As the
rest of the group prepare for marriage with dance and food, Jaques chooses not to return to the court
believing he is for other than for dancing measures . This juxtaposition of behaviour illustrates to the
audience the deeper meaning Jaques is determined to find not only in himself but in a world away
from the court. Not belonging has allowed Jaques to understand the truth about the court of painted
pomp . The use of the alliteration highlights to the audience the realisation that Jaques has come to
about the artificial nature of the court. Shakespeare uses this melancholy character to demonstrate that
not belonging to a place allows an individual to gain a better perspective of the world and their
purpose on it. It is through the alienation from the court that the Duke is able to develop his identity as
part of the natural world and Jaques is able to gain a better

The Groundwater Of California Is A Serious Policy Matter
The groundwater of California is a serious policy matter in legislation. If there is drought, such as
years like this, then management is necessary because it may encourage more pumping to supplant the
water not gathered from other resources. Groundwater can account for as much as 35% of all the
water used by California (cite). Unfortunately, there are not many laws established to regulate
groundwater. The basins can replenish if they are pumped on a limited basis during normal or peak
years. Luckily, proposals have been brought forth to help regulate ground water basins to insure their
use is efficient and does not harm the environment.

The local agriculture groups do not want the state to manage the groundwater based on their

charge of their groundwater. Governor Brown has proposed his Water Action Plan , which is a series
of actions that the local entities should perform. Another significant proposal is bill SB 1168, which is

I Was Sick At An Alley, After The Funeral Essay
I was sick in an alley, after the funeral. It was the last time I wore black, and I was making a mess of
it. After sitting in the damp for a few hours I crawled out of that hellhole to what I thought was the
nearest bar, and ordered two neat whiskeys one for me and the duke, just like we used to after the
particularly stupid missions. A bowl of soup was put out in front of me, as it slowly dawned upon me
that the bar I walked into was a diner, and the tender a waitress. Her eyes were a hazy hazel blue,
sparkly grand from the last of the ludes in my system, and she smiled some pity to me. I went to the
bathroom, cleaned myself up, and had the most goddammned delicious chicken noodle of my life. I
put my last twenty on the counter, conjured up a smile, went on my way and that s how I started
seeing Nadine Penny. It s amazing how obtuse I can be sometimes, as I went back to the next day, and
the next. I kept ordering coffee, chatting her up, getting the story down and trying to tell what I could
of mine. I felt compelled to be there I liked being around her, she was funny, quirky, fresh air from the
usual choke and gloom and violence of mage s life. It was hard for me to come to terms with the fact
that as I spent time with her, it was more than liking her company than I liking her. She was different

Cost Allocation Essay
Cost Allocation Definition¶
All of us have used cost allocation, the process of assigning common costs to ending inventory and
cost of goods sold (COGS), as part of our Financial Services offerings since it is required by GAAP.
Our goal has been to either reduce taxes or increase reported earnings, depending on our client s needs
and circumstances.
But what about cost allocation s other uses? Are we shortchanging our clients by not offering services
in this area (usually referred to as cost or management accounting services)?
Managers use cost allocation for a number of reasons. First and foremost, cost allocation provides a
methodology for assigning overhead costs of various activities, usually support departments, to
products or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implementing Activity Based Costing¶
The steps involved in activity based costing are:
1) Clarify the purpose of the allocation, defining why the need to allocate these costs exists and
defining the benefit of doing so.
2) Identify support and operating department cost pools;
3) Select an allocation base or cost driver for each support department cost pool based on a cause and
effect relationship between the support departments and the operating/production departments.
4) Choose and apply a method for allocating support department costs to operating/production
departments. The three most widely used methods are the direct method, the step down method, and
the reciprocal method, all of which will be discussed shortly.
5) Once the allocation of support costs to the operating departments is complete, cost drivers are
selected for the newly formed cost pools (production/operating department overhead costs) and costs
are then allocated to the units of goods or services.
Direct Method of Allocation¶
Before we continue, it would be good to discuss the three methods discussed in step 4. The direct
method allocates costs directly from the support departments to the operating departments that use its
services. Example: the personnel department might allocate its overhead (i.e., ALL of its

The Goal Of Marketing Strategy
The goal of marketing strategy is to increase sales and reach a competitive advantage. It involves
careful planning and scanning of internal and external environments. Internal factors are such as
performance analysis, market mix, strategic constraints, and market mix modelling. External factors
are such as analyzing the competition, evaluation of technological, economic, cultural, and political or
legal elements, and target analysis. The twelve years that Charles Tandy reinvented RadioShack, he
understood the same criteria. His successors tried to follow his footsteps, but there was a rapid change
in technology. After the war, he identified a new area of supply and started sending mail. Few years
later after it traded on the New York Stock Exchange, it ventured into an electronic firm. He tried to
help it stay afloat by cutting inventories and maintaining merchandise that had high profit margins.
Philosophy 2.6 The Philosophy of the firm was to provide electronic devices and accessories and a
lower price than larger scale businesses the local greater population. The firm also maintained
competitive prices and advertising to attract customers. They increased bonuses based on store

store started to design their merchandise and only dealt with private label items in order to eliminate

How The Dol s Fiduciary Rule Will Impact 401
How the DOL s Fiduciary Rule Will Impact 401(k) Plan Sponsors The 401(k) plan is usually at the
back of a plan sponsor s mind. It doesn t renew annually, and it never fights for attention like health
insurance and business insurance renewals do. However, it s time to bring that afterthought to the
forefront. With the Department of Labor s (DOL) Fiduciary Rule, a litany of class action lawsuits and
the fact that 65 percent of DOL audits in 2014 resulted in plan sponsor fines; there is a certain level of
responsibility expected of plan sponsors. The DOL Fiduciary Rule is the byproduct of many of these
class action suits, years of haggling with Wall Street to close loopholes that have existed since 1940,
and the Obama administration s desire to bring objective advice to plan sponsors and participants
alike. Over the next year, before the regulation comes into effect in April 2017, plan sponsors have
important decisions to make, and it s vital to understand what options there are moving forward. How
Will It Affect Plan Sponsors? It s essential for plan sponsors to understand how this new standard will
impact their business practices as well. According to a U.S. Chamber of Commerce issue brief, the
rule affects how investment advice is provided to every 401(k) plan, every IRA, and every rollover or
distribution to or from either. The impact of this reform is sweeping, and given the forecasted
movement of 401(k) and IRA money over the next 20 years, as baby boomers retire, much

Mandatory Prenatal HIV Testing Essay
Mandatory Prenatal HIV Testing
This particular journal researches prenatal HIV testing as it relates to vertical transmission.
Randomized controlled studies involving HIV positive pregnant women at various stages of

Women of different income levels, educational and ethnic backgrounds were involved in these studies.
The AIDS Clinical Trials Group Study 076 as well as following randomized controlled trials were
used in order to test whether prenatal testing was an effective means of preventing the vertical

Statistically, these methods of research produce findings that are typically more accurate than the other
various approaches to research. Likewise, the HIV test itself is basically a simple and for the most part
accurate means of determining whether a pregnant mother is HIV positive. The tests were
administered to mothers that had already tested positive in order to further ensure the accuracy of the
study. In this way, it appears that much time and effort was put forth in order to find conclusive
reasoning either proving or disproving the theory that prenatal HIV testing should be mandatory. On
the other hand, in order to develop policies that would make prenatal screening mandatory there are
two sides to consider; pregnant women who are HIV positive and pregnant women who do not carry
the virus. In this way, the study lacks in including women who must be tested for seemingly no reason.
It fails to mention if any undue hardships must be placed upon women who are HIV negative.
Because HIV can be a treatable disease the findings from this study are as most would expect them to
be. Early detection leads to an increased likelihood of preventing the viral transmission of the disease.
The findings themselves are quite impressive also. If at anytime the spread of a disease can be
decreased by nearly 50 % as long as it is detected and treated in a timely fashion, then it is easy to
assume that those measures would be

Comparing Family Guy And The Simpsons
Family Guy and The Simpsons have differences in comedic style and family friends and similarities in
family personalities .
To begin off with, Family Guy and The Simpsons have differences in comedic style. Family Guy uses
humor that has to be taken lightly, Family Guy overuses a joke until it dies and Family Guy takes a
joke from zero to hundred in about six seconds. The Simpsons use humor that is funny, but doesn t kill
your braincells. For instance, in Family Guy there was an episode mocking terrorism after terrorist
threats. The Simpsons wouldn t touch the topic of terrorism until several year later at least. The
Simpsons does not overuse a joke until it dies. For example in Family Guy if a joke is made about a
song they play the whole song. In The Simpsons they will parody a song for a few seconds. In The
Simpsons it doesn t go from zero to a hundred in six seconds. For example Family Guy had a rating of
TV 14 on its airdate with some episodes being TV MA. The Simpsons is usually for everyone until

The Nation s Drug Problem Essay
Nation s Drug Problem (United States)
Over the last couple of years, there has been increased concern over the effects of drugs on the health
of Americans. This is mainly due to the increased use of drugs by most citizens, which has caused the
government to spend a lot of money to curb this problem. One of the most abused drugs is alcohol,
and American citizens are increasingly becoming addicted to it. It is also the most undesirable drug, as
it costs the government over $200 billion in terms of productivity, health and crime related costs
(Office of National Drug Control Policy 2).
Marijuana, which accounts for over $100 billion in costs, is the next most common drug after alcohol.
Drug addiction is not only in adults, but also in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cocaine use is however on the decline, mainly due to the legal frameworks established to curb its
transit and sale. Heroin is also rarely used and the reason for the decline is the increased fight against
illegal drug use by government agencies. With increased use, these two drugs cause serious addiction
that takes time and money to control. Although marijuana is illegal in most states, the continuing
debate aimed at making it legal causes the drug to increase in popularity and availability. Despite the
fact that it is illegal, marijuana s popularity has continued to increase.
According to recent research by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA), prescription drugs are also being misused (Brauser 1). Although the focus has been
mainly on the illegal drugs, most citizens have continuously abused the prescription drugs. According
to the report, there has been an increase in the opiate admissions from 8% to 33% in a span of ten
years (Brauser 1). This is a very huge increase compared to the indulgence in other drugs and
substances. One of the reasons cited as the possible explanation for the increased abuse of prescription
drugs is ignorance. Most individuals have resorted into making their own judgments concerning
illnesses and purchasing drugs without directions from medical practitioners.
Making decisions about the drugs to take amid health conditions should be the work of the doctor.
However, most individuals make assumptions and

The Quality Film I Have Selected
EDITING PAPER
The quality film I have selected is Goodfellas . I believe this is truly one of the best films created
during its time period. A little information about this movie before going into more detail involves the
starring of popular actors, along with the movie focusing on many characters but specifically Henry
Hill. Throughout this paper I will discuss such elements as: the plot; acting; directing; originality of
story; soundtrack; and other important aspects in the production of the film. This film was a huge box
office success and I will explore how its production made this possible.
For the plot in the Goodfellas , it centers on a young boy named Henry Hill. In the beginning the film

the system in the Mafia, it also shows his hardships throughout the movie. The movie also introduces
the life of a gangster during that time period, it showed how one day everything could be fine and the
next not so well.
The acting in this film was excellent in my opinion. The three main characters: Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci,
and Robert De Niro all played their roles phenomenally. The film was directed by Martin Scorsese. An
interesting fact I found out was, Al Pacino was offered Niro s role and he turned it down. I thought the
characters played a great job with their roles. Majority of the actors in this movie had some sort of
connection in gangster films. A few of the actors in the Goodfellas were big stars in The Sopranos
which I found to be intriguing. In all, the acting throughout this film in my opinion was fantastic. Each
actor played their role in a unique yet, spectacular way.
The originality of the movie Goodfellas is based on the book Wiseguy . These two are very similar.
Both the movie and the book share the same setting and outcomes. The film s setting is East Brooklyn.
The character s personalities are also similar. Henry s true joy was hijacking and in the movie he also

Benefits And Benefits Of Working Flexibility
Today s organizations as often as need to deal with the ever changing client needs and wants, the
competition within niche markets as well as the rapid improvement of technology. Organisations
therefore need to execute flexibility in the workplace as it is a basic element to overall workplace
effectiveness. Flexibility is a methodology use to state when and how work is conducted as well as
how vocation are organized. Pilbeam and Corbridge (2002), describe flexibility at workplace as the
capacity of an organization to adjust the size, structure, responsiveness and expenses of the people
inputs required to accomplish objectives and goals of the organization . Working flexibility is about
how flexible work is organized in the workplace so that the organizations and employees benefits.
Workplace flexibility can be regarded as the capacity of employees to make decisions influencing
when, where and for how long they engage in work (Jeffrey, 2008). Flexible working is a kind of
working arrangement which gives a level of flexibility on how long, when, where as well as at what
times employees work. Employees access flexible working through HR arrangements, which as a rule
require supervisory approval. The changing environment of work is making new difficulties and
opportunities that organizations can only meet with the sort of alacrity that flexible working
arrangements provide. Therefore, implement a workplace flexibility strategy is a fundamental part for

Other Animals is a quartet led by German brothers Peter and Bernhard Meyer, guitarist and bassist,
respectively, who take all the credit for the twelve compositions of the band s debut album. They are
joined by the Berlin based saxophonist Wanja Slavin and the American drummer Jim Black, a pivotal
figure in the New York jazz scene. The animated beat that introduces Drown Dreams , an oblique,
dreamy, chamber pop song, doesn t dissemble some solemnity attached to its melody and harmonic
conduction. There are a few grey clouds encircling it, but also some sunrays that make the liberation
possible. Exclusively on this tune, Slavin plays synth and flutes. The sluggish drum chops of Name of
Cold Country , sparse yet well coordinated with the bass lines, go along with the melodious
saxophone and soaring electronic effects. The lightness of this architecture of sound gains further
depth with Peter s beautiful harmonics and warmly distorted chords. Yes, it may feel ponderous and

tempo with resilience and autonomy, unraveling into interesting experimental passages, while the
latter adopts a cool danceable posture reinforced with syncopation and the presence of a shaker. The
opposite scenario is set up on Downbear whose dark and gloomy textures depicted by distorted guitar
would give a great doom metal piece. These sonic waves impel Black to adventure himself a little bit

Write An Essay On Anthrax
Bacillus anthracis, more widely known as anthrax is an infectious disease that is caused by a gram
positive, bacillus shaped bacteria. See Appendix 2 for an image of the bacteria. It is naturally found in
soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals. Inhaling or ingesting spores from contaminated
plants, soil, or water is how animals generally get infected. Humans can be infected in 4 different
manners. When anthrax gets inside the body, the spores are activated and they then multiply, spread
throughout the body, and produce toxins that cause severe illness. Anthrax is not contagious therefor it
cannot be caught like the common cold or flu.
Anthrax is considered to have originated in Mesopotamia and Egypt. Some scholars be lieve that
during the 10 plagues of Egypt, the fifth plague was due to anthrax. The sickness that occurred in the
fifth plagued the grazing livestock such as horses, cattle, sheep, camels and oxen. It is even suggested
that anthrax is partially responsible for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the antibiotics for anthrax are administered intravenously in a hospital. When anthrax spores
get inside the body, they will be activated . Once they are activated , the bacteria will grow and
multiply. During the process of growth they produce toxins that are the main cause of severe illness.
When antitoxins are used to treat patients, it must be coupled with other treatment options. There is a
vaccine available for anthrax that comes in a 5 shot grouping over 18 months. The vaccine is
recommended for members of the United States Military, laboratory workers who come in contact
with anthrax and people who handle animals or animal products on a regular basis such as
veterinarians. The vaccine is currently only provided to those who have an increased risk of coming
into contact with anthrax spores. It is not permitted for anyone under the age of 18 or over the age of
65 as well as during or pregnant

Summary Of Are We Addicted To Technology By Zoe Kleinman
In Zoe Kleinman s BBC article Are We Addicted to Technology , she addresses the problems of
technology addiction using highly descriptive evidence. For example, when she interviews Dr.
Ramlakhan, we discover that there are many side effects from being addicted to technology.
Ramlakhan states, that people are becoming dopamine junkies which is like someone who is very
addicted to technology and hasn t left the house in five days. She also suggests that people are acting
like zombies. A modern day example of this would be the addiction that people have to this video
game called Pokemon Go. Although she used highly descriptive evidence, she poorly stated the proof
that she had for her claims. For example, she stated that people are only tired

Darwin Vs Lamarck Analysis It s a thursday night and the weirdest things has just happened to me a bunch of scientists had just arrived at my door and i am confused and shocked at the same time right now i m wondering if they will be joining us for dinner but first i m going to go grab a tape recorder so i have proof to show that i did meet these people. Later that night we were having a good laugh, somehow we ended up talking about evolution charles and lamarck were arguing about inherited traits and acquired characteristics. lamarck was saying that if an organism needed a certain trait that they were able to obtain it and how that once it is obtained it can be passed onto the offspring. • 3. The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And... INTRODUCTION Background and Problem September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library, Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts. To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains [t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even threatened, was when the British burned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Demise of the Weimar Republic The demise of the Weimar Republic did not occur due to one sole reason, but because of a number of short and long term factors. The economic, political and international pressure placed on the people of Germany ensured the loathing of the forced governmental rule. The immediate impact of the Great Depression of 1929, which has been debated and considered by most historians to be the dominant factor in the downfall of the democratic experiment which subsequently led to continuous political instability ultimately saw the collapse of the first democratic government of Germany. Some historians generally blame the fall of the Republic on president von Hindenburg s abuse of constitutional powers. Historian David Martin states that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the US dollar has been 4.2 marks, by 1920 it was worth 64.8 marks thus German taxation increased. Anyone with access to even a few pounds became a trillionaires over night. The losers of the hyperinflation were those with a fixed income, the working class, people living off their savings and wage earners. By June 1923, the government had lost control of the economy, as strikes swepped the country as workers protested about the rising unemployment and the failure of their wages to keep up with the cost of living. In August, the govenment finally fell, with President Ebert called for the leader of the German people party, Streseman, to form a new party. He formed the great coalition which brought together left and right wing. In the next six years, German society picked up with the induction into the League of Nations, the Dawes plan of 1924 which provided foreign loans to Germany and the Young Plan which saw the reduction in Germany s reparation figure by 95 million. The downside of Germany s new economic prosperity meant that society was living off borrowed money and was over dependant on foreign loans and investment. The economic power was concentrated in the hands of influential industrialists and bankers and employment was still on the rise. Within these six years, the Weimar republic surprisingly enjoyed a period of relative political stability. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Thesis Statement For Universal Education Countless countries benefit from a capitalistic system, but others, like Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, have a more socialistic giving society, offering free or low cost schools, universal medical care, as well as supportive welfare to citizens. The world would gain from a higher quality of free education. The United States would benefit from educating people free of charge. My belief of a fair universal education offered to everyone, no matter their place of origin, is shaped by experiencing the benefits of free education growing up in Czechoslovakia, by living in the Netherlands, and the United States. As a child growing up under the strict influence of forbidden profits of capitalism and receiving an education free of charge, socialistic ideals shape my worldview. Being born in Czechoslovakia (the Czech Republic since 1993) under a communist, socialist regime with an underlying suppressed democracy, my worldview is based on child s idealistic views of living together with beliefs of equality of all people. Even though the restricted media and the limited amount of imported goods made it easier for the communist government to influence and dictate the mainstream population, it shielded me from the political world, because I was a child. Therefore, I was only gaining the benefits of the system free medical care and an excellent education. • 8. Critical Appreciation Of St. Thomas Aquinas St. Thomas Aquinas, in his Summa Theologica, clearly states that self esteem, as it is understood today, is completely incompatible with holiness. He believes that the only way self love can ever be an orderly love is when it seeks not sensational well being (elevated self love), but only the spiritual good of the person (holiness). St. Thomas Aquinas explains that inordinate self love is the root cause of every sin: Every sinful act proceeds from inordinate desire for some temporal good. Now the fact that anyone desires a temporal good inordinately is due to the fact that he loves himself inordinately; for to wish some good to someone is to love him. Therefore it is evident that inordinate self love is the cause of every sin (ST I II. Q77. A4.). Aquinas describes a type of egoism that causes us to turn away from God. Having high self esteem can be associated at times with human desire of selfishness and greed. Aquinas simply believes that every sin is a form of inordinate self love. This is a false sense of self love. Brother John Sica also writes in the Dominicana Journal that many people falsely think of humility as a virtue of a low self esteem. Instead, he says, St. Thomas actually teaches us that humility is a virtue of acknowledging the truth about reality. Since prayer, at its root, is an asking directed at God, humility is crucially important. Through humility, we recognize our neediness before God. We are totally and entirely dependent on God for everything and at every moment: our existence, life, breath, every thought and action. In similar thought, St. Augustine wrote in Book 1, Chapter I of Confessions, You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you. Throughout his life, he had been a heretic and sinner with high self esteem. He liked himself, admired himself, and was proud of the image that others had of him; this was what kept him grounded in his lifestyle. In his Confessions, he even recalls how he saw good and knew what he had to do, but could not bring himself to do it because he himself had woven the chains that were keeping him bound. It was when he finally realized his miserable state that alas, his self esteem fell. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Pros And Cons Of Providing Scotland s Independence With the whole world watching Scotland take their chance to become independent, many were shocked at Ireland s vote to reject this independence. With a 55% vote, Scotland has decided to stay a part of the United Kingdom. On September 18, 2014, Scotland held a vote to decide if they were to become an independent country or continue being a part of the United Kingdom. The people have spoken, and they have spoken to reject independence. This close poll has shocked many people around the world, including the people who live in Scotland. But this poll brought a new realization of what the people were asking for and what they wanted, and upset the ones that still wanted and voted for independence. Thus forming the two perspectives: those who support independence for Scotland, and those whose who support the rejection of independence. Those in support of independence wanted to focus more on the needs of Scotland, and decisions that would reflect more primarily on its priorities. The people feel by putting Scotland s priorities first, the confidence in the country and its abilities would then be increased. • 10. The Rosetta Stone Essay The Rosetta Stone In 1799, when Napoleon s army was dismantling a wall in Rashid, Egypt, they discovered the Rosetta Stone. Little did they know that this 11 inch thick piece of rock would be one of the greatest discoveries in history! It contained Egyptian scripture, with Greek also on the stone. This was used to decode the once lost Egyptian writing system. Before the 1800 s, attempts at trying to uncover the secrets held by the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics found on walls inside numerous tombs were useless. The pictures were falsely believed to be symbolic, representing some sort of object or idea. Something soon changed all of this misconception. 1799 was the year of a great breakthrough in Egyptology. French troops, under ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another man who devoted many years of his life to studying the stone was Jean Francois Champollion. After many years of perseverance, Champollion finally translated the stone in 1822. He accomplished this feat by first recognizing that hieroglyphs were not symbols, but instead were associated with phonetics, as Thomas Young had proved. (Andrews 166) His first major breakthrough in his studies was in 1808, when he resolved those fifteen signs of the demotic script related with alphabetic letters from the Coptic language. From this he concluded that Coptic language must be based on the remnants of the last of the ancient Egyptian language, and written with the Greek alphabet, which is why it was readable to Champollion and other scholars researching the stone. Also, that the hieroglyphic text was a translation of the Greek, not the reverse, as had been previously believed. By 1818, Champollion had successfully concluded that though some signs were basically ideograms, many of the glyphs had phonetic value, meaning the ancient Egyptian script was at least partially alphabetic. (Giblin 83) He came to this conclusion after referring back to three other different forms of Egyptian writing and also using Coptic as a reference. Recognizing the name Ptolemy and Cleopatra in the Greek and demotic sections of the stone allowed him to identify those same names in hieroglyphics. Still wondering, he didn t think that hieroglyphs were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Describe Your Happy Place Where is your happy place? I grew up on the mid north coast of NSW in a small town called Valla Beach which was nestled between the bush and the beach. Because it was such a small town in which most people knew each other, I was granted relative freedom to roam the native environment and explore. I have very fond memories of riding my scooter up and down the streets with my friends and neighbours, cantering through the bush in front of my house, making up stories about my life if I had lived there and spending all day on the beach, crisping in the sun. Being inside seemed like such a dull affair when you could be immersed in a different world, a natural world. I feel as if these early life experiences led me to always have a special connection with the natural environment as it was the one true place that I could seek comfort and clarity my happy place. Across the road from my house was extensive bushland that stretched a few kilometres until it was cut off by the highway. In many ways, it was my childhood playground. There was a small dam in the bushland that I often took my dog to play fetch and cool off. There was a bush track that winded up and down hills and ended in a small little clearing and there was also dirt bike tracks that a local boy had made from scrap materials. When I was 12, a housing development crew came to town and begun marking out the land to demolish to build new estates and within weeks they were underway. They began draining the dam to make way ... • 14. Catholics Should Legalize Euthanasia Euthanasia is a controversial topic all around the world. Many governments debate whether or not it should be legal inside their borders. Catholics have a particular definition of what euthanasia is, why its is against our human rights, and why it should be stopped. The catholic definition of euthanasia is that it is a grave violation of G d s law, since it it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable killing of a human person (Evangelium Vitae). Euthanasia is the killing of one s self before G d does, and therefore morally wrong. By killing one s self, we do not allow room for G d in our lives and reject His plan for His creation. It also is the act of predicting the future (which no one can do), and not allowing G d to permit miracles and intervene into one s life. It also violates the virtue of hope because it denies that G d is never ending with his love of every human person. No one except G d can make the final decision about when our lives should end. We do not have the right to dictate when and where we should die. A right is a moral claim, and only G d posses that power over us; We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted us. • 26. Identity And Identity In Alice Walker s Everyday Use HOW DOES ONE DEFINE ONE S HERITAGE It has been said that One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself. What should matter is being true to oneself and loving the person that you have become. This short story is narrated by Mama who is telling her story of her two daughters, Dee and Maggie. Both daughters live their lives in very different ways. In Dee s case, she goes out to make all that she can of herself while leaving her mother and sister behind. Maggie stays at home with their Mama and makes the most out of what surrounds her. All three ladies have different perspectives of their own heritage and identity. The conflict in Everyday Use is that Mama has these two daughters fighting over a quilt. In the end, readers will find that what matters most is not forgetting where you come from and who you are as a person. In Everyday Use Alice Walker emphasizes to her readers the importance of self identities and family through her use of conflict, setting, and characterization, suggesting that sometimes people are so motivated in pleasing others while neglecting the things that matter to them the most. One s heritage and identity should not be separated from one s everyday life. The Everyday Use story takes place in the late 1960s in the southern regions of America during the time when African Americans were fighting for their identity and to preserve whatever heritage they have. According to the statement that Mama made, colored asked fewer questions then than they do now . In the yard, Mama awaits her daughter s return. The theme setting plays an important role in this story because of Dee, the eldest daughter chooses to leave the place where she had grown up because she believes that nothing will become of her if she stays in her home town. She chooses to leave home and get an education while her sister Maggie stays home and is looked down upon by her sister because she chose to stay at home. In this way, not belonging may be even more important than belonging as often individuals must be alienated in order to truly accept and understand their own identity. Such a notion is explored within the Shakespearean play, As you Like it, written in 1603. The text clearly illustrates the way in which not belonging to people, place and society is even more important that belonging as it allows an individual to gain a heightened understanding of the value of belonging and identity. Not belonging to people can lead individuals to gain a deeper understanding of the value of belonging. As seen in As You Like it, several characters are forced to experience alienation in order to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea is evident in the play as several characters who are isolated from The Court are able to deepen their understanding of identity. Shakespeare uses the character of Duke Senior to illustrate such an idea. The Duke is banished from the court by his younger brother and placed into exile in the Forest of Arden. It is through this displacement into the natural world and his experiences in tongues in trees, sermons in stones, books in running brooks and good in everything , that the Duke is able to truly develop his identity. The personification of nature as the teacher implies that the Duke has been taught about a new sense of identity. This demonstrates that the Duke s alienation from the court has allowed him to become a part of the natural world and in turn enrich his own identity and sense of self. In a similar way, the character of Jaques is able to deepen his understanding about the values of belonging through his alienation from the court. However, this alienation is by choice not force. As the rest of the group prepare for marriage with dance and food, Jaques chooses not to return to the court believing he is for other than for dancing measures . This juxtaposition of behaviour illustrates to the audience the deeper meaning Jaques is determined to find not only in himself but in a world away from the court. Not belonging has allowed Jaques to understand the truth about the court of painted pomp . The use of the alliteration highlights to the audience the realisation that Jaques has come to about the artificial nature of the court. Shakespeare uses this melancholy character to demonstrate that not belonging to a place allows an individual to gain a better perspective of the world and their purpose on it. It is through the alienation from the court that the Duke is able to develop his identity as part of the natural world and Jaques is able to gain a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the Department of Labor s (DOL) Fiduciary Rule, a litany of class action lawsuits and the fact that 65 percent of DOL audits in 2014 resulted in plan sponsor fines; there is a certain level of responsibility expected of plan sponsors. The DOL Fiduciary Rule is the byproduct of many of these class action suits, years of haggling with Wall Street to close loopholes that have existed since 1940, and the Obama administration s desire to bring objective advice to plan sponsors and participants alike. Over the next year, before the regulation comes into effect in April 2017, plan sponsors have important decisions to make, and it s vital to understand what options there are moving forward. How Will It Affect Plan Sponsors? It s essential for plan sponsors to understand how this new standard will impact their business practices as well. According to a U.S. Chamber of Commerce issue brief, the rule affects how investment advice is provided to every 401(k) plan, every IRA, and every rollover or distribution to or from either. The impact of this reform is sweeping, and given the forecasted movement of 401(k) and IRA money over the next 20 years, as baby boomers retire, much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Mandatory Prenatal HIV Testing Essay Mandatory Prenatal HIV Testing This particular journal researches prenatal HIV testing as it relates to vertical transmission. Randomized controlled studies involving HIV positive pregnant women at various stages of pregnancy were monitored and evaluated in an effort to find conclusive reasoning for prenatal testing. Women of different income levels, educational and ethnic backgrounds were involved in these studies. The AIDS Clinical Trials Group Study 076 as well as following randomized controlled trials were used in order to test whether prenatal testing was an effective means of preventing the vertical transmission of the HIV virus. Quick and relatively simple tests were performed in order to first determine whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statistically, these methods of research produce findings that are typically more accurate than the other various approaches to research. Likewise, the HIV test itself is basically a simple and for the most part accurate means of determining whether a pregnant mother is HIV positive. The tests were administered to mothers that had already tested positive in order to further ensure the accuracy of the study. In this way, it appears that much time and effort was put forth in order to find conclusive reasoning either proving or disproving the theory that prenatal HIV testing should be mandatory. On the other hand, in order to develop policies that would make prenatal screening mandatory there are two sides to consider; pregnant women who are HIV positive and pregnant women who do not carry the virus. In this way, the study lacks in including women who must be tested for seemingly no reason. It fails to mention if any undue hardships must be placed upon women who are HIV negative. Because HIV can be a treatable disease the findings from this study are as most would expect them to be. Early detection leads to an increased likelihood of preventing the viral transmission of the disease. The findings themselves are quite impressive also. If at anytime the spread of a disease can be decreased by nearly 50 % as long as it is detected and treated in a timely fashion, then it is easy to assume that those measures would be ... To begin off with, Family Guy and The Simpsons have differences in comedic style. Family Guy uses humor that has to be taken lightly, Family Guy overuses a joke until it dies and Family Guy takes a joke from zero to hundred in about six seconds. The Simpsons use humor that is funny, but doesn t kill your braincells. For instance, in Family Guy there was an episode mocking terrorism after terrorist threats. The Simpsons wouldn t touch the topic of terrorism until several year later at least. The Simpsons does not overuse a joke until it dies. For example in Family Guy if a joke is made about a song they play the whole song. In The Simpsons they will parody a song for a few seconds. In The Simpsons it doesn t go from zero to a hundred in six seconds. For example Family Guy had a rating of TV 14 on its airdate with some episodes being TV MA. This is mainly due to the increased use of drugs by most citizens, which has caused the government to spend a lot of money to curb this problem. One of the most abused drugs is alcohol, and American citizens are increasingly becoming addicted to it. It is also the most undesirable drug, as it costs the government over $200 billion in terms of productivity, health and crime related costs (Office of National Drug Control Policy 2). Cocaine use is however on the decline, mainly due to the legal frameworks established to curb its transit and sale. Heroin is also rarely used and the reason for the decline is the increased fight against illegal drug use by government agencies. With increased use, these two drugs cause serious addiction that takes time and money to control. Although marijuana is illegal in most states, the continuing debate aimed at making it legal causes the drug to increase in popularity and availability. Despite the fact that it is illegal, marijuana s popularity has continued to increase. According to recent research by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), prescription drugs are also being misused (Brauser 1). Although the focus has been mainly on the illegal drugs, most citizens have continuously abused the prescription drugs. According to the report, there has been an increase in the opiate admissions from 8% to 33% in a span of ten years (Brauser 1). This is a very huge increase compared to the indulgence in other drugs and substances. One of the reasons cited as the possible explanation for the increased abuse of prescription drugs is ignorance. Most individuals have resorted into making their own judgments concerning illnesses and purchasing drugs without directions from medical practitioners. Making decisions about the drugs to take amid health conditions should be the work of the doctor. However, most individuals make assumptions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overall, the plot could be shown as; Henry works his way up through the system in the Mafia, it also shows his hardships throughout the movie. The movie also introduces the life of a gangster during that time period, it showed how one day everything could be fine and the next not so well. The acting in this film was excellent in my opinion. The three main characters: Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, and Robert De Niro all played their roles phenomenally. The film was directed by Martin Scorsese. An interesting fact I found out was, Al Pacino was offered Niro s role and he turned it down. I thought the characters played a great job with their roles. Majority of the actors in this movie had some sort of connection in gangster films. A few of the actors in the Goodfellas were big stars in The Sopranos which I found to be intriguing. In all, the acting throughout this film in my opinion was fantastic. Each actor played their role in a unique yet, spectacular way. The originality of the movie Goodfellas is based on the book Wiseguy . These two are very similar. Both the movie and the book share the same setting and outcomes. The film s setting is East Brooklyn. The character s personalities are also similar. Henry s true joy was hijacking and in the movie he also enjoyed doing it. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Drown Dreams Other Animals is a quartet led by German brothers Peter and Bernhard Meyer, guitarist and bassist, respectively, who take all the credit for the twelve compositions of the band s debut album. They are joined by the Berlin based saxophonist Wanja Slavin and the American drummer Jim Black, a pivotal figure in the New York jazz scene. The animated beat that introduces Drown Dreams , an oblique, dreamy, chamber pop song, doesn t dissemble some solemnity attached to its melody and harmonic conduction. There are a few grey clouds encircling it, but also some sunrays that make the liberation possible. Exclusively on this tune, Slavin plays synth and flutes. The sluggish drum chops of Name of Cold Country , sparse yet well coordinated with the bass lines, go along with the melodious saxophone and soaring electronic effects.
