Black Decker
Background
Black and Decker (B amp;D) is a pioneer in portable power tools. In 1991, it is a $5 billion in sales
company with 29% of these sales coming from Power Tools and Accessories. B amp;D is the world s
larges producer of power tools and the U.S. market overall leader.
Problem Statement
B amp;D has a strong market share in the consumer and industrial markets, but is weak in the P T
market as it is currently experiencing decreased market share. In this segment, B amp;D is not
generating profits and, at the same time, retailers want more advertising allowances and rebates.
Analysis
The U.S. power tools market is divided into three segments: Consumer (home use buyers),
Professional Tradesmen (P T) (contractors who purchase their own ... Show more content on

Consumer tools in the market are Black or Charcoal Grey. B amp;D uses Black for Consumer and
Charcoal Grey for Professional Grade tools, this lack of color differentiation makes it difficult for
purchasers to determine which products are Professional and which are Consumer, which may have
facilitated the use of B amp;D consumer grade products to professional tasks, thus generating an
inordinate high rate of failure. Conversely, other manufacturers use higher color differentiation and
use colors such as teal (Makita), red (Milwaukee), or green (Hitachi) to differentiate the P T products
from the black/charcoal grey consumer products.
Research on Tradesmen s brand perceptions shows that DeWalt, a B amp;D brand associated with
industrial yellow has a 70% awareness rating and is ranked by 63% of those in the P T market to be
One of the Best , which is much more than the 44% of people in this market who think the same of the
B amp;D brand. Although the purchase interest in DeWalt is 51% compared to 58% of DeWalt
Services and Distributed by Black and Decker.
Despite all of this, B amp;D strongest rival, Makita, exhibits a few weaknesses that can be exploited
by B amp;D. Customers, in general, have been exposed to positive Makita interactions; retailers on the
other hand have had a different experience. Makita, in general, did not support all of their retailers as
it did not offer channel protection

Oral History In Canada
The use of audio records for this project is significantly important as audio records allows people to
heard the voices of those who are not heard, in this specific case, it is the voices of immigrants that are
heard. Often, there is a general belief that people come to Canada for a better life, which is true.
However, people also assume that immigrants instantly have a better life in an economic and social
way, which is not true. This is why oral history is important in this situation. Oral history will allow
immigrants to share their personal experience with immigration and new life in Canada. This will
allow the providing of a new perspective on immigration and even contradict the general beliefs on
immigrations thanks to the use of oral history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Causes And Impacts Of The Cultural Revolution
The Cultural Revolution (1966~1976) was a sociopolitical movement that was both ideological and
radical in nature. It was a rectification movement that sought to remold the values and ideas of society
and to create a new vision for China, by Mao Zedong. Mao: the Chairman of the Communist Party of
China, was determined to forestall the rebirth of the bureaucratic class and its practice of careerism.
Within his revolution, Mao initiated purges in order to get rid of China s old capitalist tendencies, and
to further instill his Chairman of the Communist Party of China after his power weakened from the
Great Leap Forward (1958~1962). The Great Leap Forward (1958~1962) was a period in China

As a result of the extensive farming and industrial work, steel production dramatically increased and
several structures such as roads and hospitals improved the lives of the Chinese people. Despite the
great effort during this period, the Great Leap Forward had failed as the workers in the industries were
common, ordinary people who had no expertise in machines which led to a lot of useless iron being
made. Furthermore, as many as 30 million people died due to numerous reasons such as the
unpropitious climate conditions, pressure to meet the standards of the authorities, and mass starvation.
The failure of this period led to Mao Zedong being dismissed from his rank as the State Chairman of
RPC, although he still kept his title as the Chairman of the CCP. In order to combat economic disorder
caused by the Great Leap Program, Liu Shaoqi attained his rank as the new Chairman of RPC while
Deng Xiaoping became the CPC General Secretary. In the face of fiasco after the unsuccessful Great
Leap Forward, Mao Zedong pursued a course of eliminating elements of Chinese culture during the
Cultural Revolution to foster a new culture, which was abortive as it had only distorted China both
socially and economically, which was evident through the extensive chaos and technology

Avant-Galsch Art Expressionism
During the nineteen forties and fifties, the art economy in America exploded after several of the artists
that previously lived in Europe flooded into New York because of the immense damage in Europe
from the second world war.
The most influential Art Critic of the 20th century, Clement Greenburg argued that art with any sort of
illusionistic representation or reference was regressive art because it gives an audience the answers
right away and lacks authenticity. Any work that had a connection to popular culture, that everyone
understood, and was inherently enjoyed was called kitsch . Kistchy art was also a threat to Greenburg
and other critics because it could easily be used to control the masses. Any government or authority is
able to pluck out any iconography that a society is fond of, and use it to control the them with slanted
political messages.
Avant Garde art asks questions that people can t answer right away, and Greensburg states that an if
audience has to think about the meaning then art is kept alive. In his essay Avant Garde and Kitsch
(1939), Greenburg states that painting should be a sensuous experience about paint on canvas, color
relationships and texture. Abstract Expressionism would be the first Avant Guarde movement to
emerge out of North America. This movement was about gestural paint strokes, and artists realizing
physic depth of the unconscious mind. Greensburg was a huge advocate for this movement, but as art

American Musician, Prince
Prince, also known as Jamie Starr, Alexander Nevermind, The Purple One and Joey Coco, among
others, is an American musician whose career has spanned over three decades from the 1970s. His
ever changing, androgynous style and the innovative and creative approach with which he takes on
musical ventures have helped in him selling millions of albums worldwide and still allows him to have
his stake in the rock, funk and R B genres today.
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was born in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 7th 1958.
He was born into a musical family as his parents Mattie Shaw and John L. Nelson were both
musicians. Prince was named after the Prince Roger Trio which was led by his jazz pianist father,
John, and often featured his mother, Mattie, as a jazz singer (GUINESS, 1989). Prince s father
encouraged him and his younger sister, Tika, to take an interest in music from a young age, which led
to Prince teaching himself how to play the piano and writing his first composition at the age of seven.
As a child, Prince was often bullied in school and became a recluse. As a result, he turned to music as
a source of refuge and started writing some of his own music but he never considered music as a
career until he saw James Brown live for the first time when he was 10 years old (GUINESS, 1989).
Because of his parents separation in 1970, Prince moved away from his home with his mother and
stepfather and went to live with his father before drifting off to live

Use Of Dark And Light In Macbeth
The tragedy of Macbeth tells a tale of a man s ambition for power and rise to it. Many scholars
consider Macbeth to be Shakespeare s darkest work. Shakespeare is known for his use of imagery,
similes, and metaphors in his work. Dark and light, a strong motif in the tragedy of Macbeth, is often
used not only in literature, but in everyday life to contrast good and evil. People often associate
darkness and dark things with evil and death, while the opposite applies to light. Light is most often
associated with good tidings, heaven, God, and life. In Macbeth, both dark and light are both used as
symbols and signs that something good or bad is about to happen. The use of dark and light begins in

Macbeth asked his wife, What is the night? and Lady Macbeth responds with Almost at odds with
morning, which is which. (3.4.125 126) The conversation between Macbeth and his wife discuss the
fight between day and night and that night is slowly but surely conquering the day. Lady Macbeth say
the two are at odds, which affirms the constant battles between good and evil. This goes back to when
Ross said that night was strangling the sun and that the evils of night are taking over. By this time in
the play, almost every character known to be good was either killed or converted to the darkness. In
Act 4, Duncan s son Malcolm returns and says, Angels are bright still, though the brightest star fell
(4.3.24). Malcolm compares Macbeth to Lucifer or Satan in this line, because Macbeth was the King s
top apprentice and was always loyal to him. The events that have happened throughout the play show
that, like Lucifer, Macbeth has fallen into the hands of evil and turned away from his good and
powerful leader. Malcolm says that the angels are still bright, possibly because he still has hope that

Hampton Roads Tide Essay
The Hampton Roads region has had a stable economy for the past couple of decades. With a large

Similarities Between Ancient Greece And Rome
The Rome s Pantheon and Greek s Parthenon are both significant and innovative structures that have
influenced the architecture around the world. This essay will describe the style and function of each
building as well as the similarities and differences between ancient Greece and Rome in four
characters including history, design, usage, and similarity.

Rome s Pantheon one of the greatest spiritual buildings in the world. The temple is devoted to the
gods of ancient Rome. The name Pantheon derives from Greek and actually means Every God . The
temple is one of the best preserved of all ancient Roman buildings and it has been in almost
continuous use throughout its history. The Pantheon was built by Marcus Agrippa in year 27 ... Show

Several smaller shrines are along the inner walls. There used to be devoted to the seven gods linked to

The Parthenon is created as an optical illusion. It appears to consist of straight lines but in fact, almost
every surface is built to lean and curved from its columns to its foundations. It gives a unique insight
into the best that ancient Greek sculptors could produce at the best period of Greek art. The Parthenon
is a Doric peripteral temple; it consists of a rectangular floor plan with a series of low steps, and a
colonnade of Doric columns. The three main types of columns used in Greek temples and other public
buildings are Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Many of the sculpture

Coffee Supply Chain
Coffee The Supply Chain
INTRODUCTION
Today, a jar of instant coffee can be found in 93 per cent of British homes and increasingly consumers
are trying out different types of coffee, such as cappuccino, espresso, mocha and latte. The expanding
consumer demand for product choice, quality and value has led to an increase in the coffees being
made available to a discerning public. Value is the way in which the consumer views an organisation s
product in comparison with competitive offerings. So how does coffee get from growing on a tree
perhaps 1,000m up a mountainside in Africa, Asia, Central or South America, to a cup of Nescafé in
your home, and in millions of homes throughout the world? This case study explains why Nestlé

Coffee is packed into sacks, usually of 60 kg. 4. Bulking Roasters, like Nestlé, will need to buy large
quantities of coffee of a particular grade, so exporters in the country of origin will bulk together
numerous small batches of coffee to make up the necessary amount of the required grade. 5. Blending
At the roasters, experts with fine palates and much experience decide which blend of coffees from
various origins to use to make the coffee products to meet the taste of their consumers.
Processing
Coffee from the tree goes through a series of processes to end up with the saleable product the green
coffee bean. 1. Picking Coffee is picked by hand. Coffee cherries are bright red when they are ripe, but
unfortunately the cherries do not all ripen at the same time. Picking just the red cherries at harvest
time produces better quality coffee, but it is more labour intensive as each tree must be visited several
times during the harvest

Reverend Hale Reflection
Reverend Hale In the play, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Reverend Hale faces his own crucible. John
Hale is minister who specializes in witchcraft. Hale comes to Salem in 1692 to examine Betty Parris.
John did not fall into the ideology of fake witchcraft like others in Salem. He does start the hysteria
that is happening in Salem when he encourages the girls to rat out on the other girls and people in
town. With later regret, Reverend Hale follows his religious and puritanical beliefs. John Hale follows
idea of puritanism by trying to keep the court fair, keeping god in his life, and maintaining his
intellectual abilities throughout the play. Hale was trying to keep the court fair at all times. By doing
so, he was keeping the belief of the Bible in mind. Reverend Hale says, I have seen too many frightful
proofs in court the Devil is alive in Salem, and we dare not quail to follow wherever the accusing
finger points! This is saying that no one should be put on trial without evidence of witchcraft. In the
play, whoever gets the finger pointed at them is put on trial. In today s court people can t be tried
without evidence. By Hales doing of this, he is trying to maintain the balance of equality in the courts.
Even though he was the person who influenced the girls to rat each other out, he looks back and
regrets it and corrects it when he quits the court after deeming it unfair. So in conclusion, by the end of
the play Reverend Hale keeps his peace with God. Reverend Hale as the minister he is always keeps
God in his life. Hale says, It is mistaken law that leads you to sacrifice. Life, woman, life is God s
most precious gift; no principle, however glorious, may justify the taking of it. I beg you, woman,
prevail upon your husband to confess. Let him give his lie. Quail not before God s judgement in this,
for it may well be God damns a liar less than he that throws his life away for pride. Will you plead
with him? I cannot think he will listen to another. This meaning that Hale is admitting to being fooled
by the girls of Salem. He tells Elizabeth that he thought he was coming to Salem to do good and get
rid of the witchcraftery. Hale is not the bad guy he wants the people of Salem to know that what

The Effects of Catholicism on the Education of Women in...
The Effects of Catholicism on the Education of Women in Renaissance Italy
According to Paul Grendler, the conservative, clerical pedagogical theorist Silvio Antoniano (1540
1603) reflected on women s educational status in Renaissance Italy in one of his written works,
claiming that ...a girl (should not) learn pleading and writing poetry ; the vain sex must not reach too
high...A girl should attend to sewing, cooking, and other female activities, leaving to men what was
theirs . Apparently, this was the common held view concerning women s education during that time.
Although women were actually encouraged to literacy, their subservient social role as wives and
mothers could not allow them to learn as much as men did (Grendler, 1989). ... Show more content on

Thus, we see that in a sense, Catholicism acted as a catalyst in the development of female education.
Paradoxically enough though, at the same time, it limited the possible level of knowledge they could
attain. The thought of the supposedly foolish, sinful female sex breaking the bonds of ignorance made
many people fear the possibility of women reading forbidden books. Dante s La vita nuova , the
Petrarchan sonnets and the Decameron are a few examples of books that were considered lasciviously
dangerous and kept off limits (Grendler, 1989). Indeed, women could be educated, yet within a certain
framework. Their level of knowledge only went up to a point, in order to make sure they grew up to
be exemplary, pious, Christian housewives. In this paper I will discuss the popular views concerning
women s nature and status in society and how this affected their education. I will mention what
women learned and how; what kinds of institutions were accessible to what types of women. Men s
education will be briefly mentioned in places. My main concern though, is not education in general.
Through this paper I shall attempt to explain how Catholicism made it easier for women to acquire an
education, but at the same time present the restrictions it imposed upon them.

Merchant Of Venice Theme Analysis
The Merchant of Venice
Question:
The Merchant of Venice was a play about a Jewish moneylender who plots to cut off a pound of flesh
from a Merchant whom he has a history with. Revenge was the central theme of Shakespeare s play
The Merchant of Venice . However, there are other themes throughout the text, namely friendship and
prejudice, that help to emphasise revenge as the central theme of the play.
Revenge is an integral part of the play and characters in the play. Revenge is what drives Shylock,
seeking to obtain revenge on Antonio. In a way, Jessica seeks revenge for the hell that her father made
at home. In Venice, during the time of Shakespeare, Jews were not seen as humans. They were
alienated for their beliefs and due to the belief that Jews were responsible for the death of Christ. As a
result of this alienation, Jews were forced to wear red hats whenever going out, which made them ripe
for the picking for abuse and discrimination. Such discrimination has been laid down on Shylock, with
Antonio spitting on him and calling him a cut throat dog . As seen in Scene Act 1, Scene 3, Antonio,
even after receiving a loan, I am as like to call thee so again, To spit on thee again, to spurn thee too.
This shows how unthankful Antonio is towards Shylock, simply because he is a Jew. It is no wonder
why Shylock seeks revenge on Antonio. When asked by Salanio what good a pound of flesh will do,
Shylock simply states To bait fish withal: if it will feed nothing else, it

The Ottoman Empire and Judaism
The reason the Jews went to the Ottoman Empire was because the Christians persecuted them because
of their different beliefs. The Jews were so scared of what the Christians might do they wanted to
settle in a safer place which the Ottomans offered them. The Ottomans offering them land was the best
thing the Jews could have asked for. The Ottomans offered the Jews protection, offered them
communal autonomy and tolerated their religious practices. The Ottomans at the time had a rule about
non Muslims having to pay a tax, which is called the Jitza. The Muslims considered Jews and
Christians dhimmi or the people of the pact. The dhimmi we issued to pay the jitza, and where forced
to follow these rules; prohibition against carrying fire arms, against riding horses, against building
new houses or worship or even repairing old ones, against proselytism, against building homes higher
than Muslim ones, and they must wear distinctive clothing. Even after all of these rules the Jewish
community still thrived in the Ottoman Empire. The population of Jews in the Ottoman Empire was
very distinct and was coming from different places. The most noticeable and most studied among the
Jews in the Ottoman Empire were the Sephardim. The Sephardim had great political and cultural
influence on the Ottoman Empire. The Jews became very valuable to the Ottomans because of the ties
they had with Europe. Europeans brought new languages and technologies including the newest forms

Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee Summary
Kelsey Hernandez Dr. Matthew Bailey HIS 106 Section 16 02/16/2015 WASP Stings Bury My Heart
at Wounded Knee is written by Dee Brown and depicts the life of many American Indians in the late
1800s. There is very little recognition of the real impact of Native Americans hardships that happened
because of government policies being implemented upon them and the feeling of WASP (White Anglo
Saxton Protestant) superiority. The two different ways of life were causing many battles, massacres,
and injuries from people on both sides of the fight for land. The Indians were being kicked off of their
land, that had been inhabited by the ancestors of their tribes for hundreds of years, and being forced
onto reservations that lacked the things they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows the Indians power with numbers at a big win against General Custer at Little Bighorn.
(299) Afterwards, the government justifies the deaths in that battle as the reason why the land will be
given to the government and the Native Americans are given no choice, but to surrender, excluding
Sitting Bull, pack leader, and a small portion of his people who escape to Canada. (310) They are able
to now feel like even if they win a battle and get enough people to join their army the will never be
truly allowed to win the land. The Nez Percés people are then told to give up their land and settle in a
reservation after loosing battles to the Bluecoats. (312) The surrounding policy changes in the times
are part of the reason as to why this major civil war was being overshadowed in 1877. (315) The white
settlers are able to act with very little notice being given due to the amount of larger conflicts that
were developing in the start of the nation. The Poncas are the next tribe that is played out, and they are
considered to be peaceful. However, they are sent to Indian territories with groups that are considered
hostile and that result in the demise and deaths. A member states, It makes my heart feel sad as I do

Fashion Career Purpose Essay
Growing up, I dreamt of getting a job that I enjoy so much that it would feel like I was not working. It
is imperative that the career I pursue satisfies both my internal and external needs. I do not want to
settle for anything other than a job that I love. During my junior year in high school, I created a
fashion inspired blog. Since I enjoyed watching celebrities on the red carpet, and segments discussing
trends and personal styles, I wanted a different platform where I can write and discuss my own views.
I curated a fashion inspired blog on Tumblr where I wrote pieces of what I thought was stylish and
trendy. Having a blog combined two of my greatest interests: fashion and writing. Since I enjoy

they were doing. I have always strived to land a job that I would enjoy greatly that it would not feel

I got the chance to ask the designer and stage workers questions, and they even let me help with

Having a career in the fashion industry will offer the job benefits that are essential to me. The working

Women s Roles in Hills Like White Elephants, by Ernest...
Hills Like White Elephants
Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway, is a great example of women s role in the last
century. The story is told in a simple form of dialogue between a man and a young woman nicknamed
Jig. Although there is an important decision to be made, nothing of much importance is talked about.
In the story, Jig does not have much influence in her relationship with the man, even when it comes to
an abortion.
The tale begins outside a small train stop in the middle of Spain, where a young woman peers into the
nearby hills. Jig remarks that they look like white elephants and tells the man she wants some beers.

Their plans were to try new drinks and look at things. (p252) In the beginning of the story, Jig can t
determine to get an Anis del Toro with or with ought water. It also seems that she does not even know
where they re going in their relationship. The rail tracks are used to symbolize the two roads ahead
and they are stationed in the middle of them. She states that they could get along if she has the baby.
The man tells her that he doesn t want anyone but her and it s that simple. The decision isn t as simple
to her but she will go through the operation. It seems that the man is happy with Jig just tagging along
for the ride.
Jig appears to be unsatisfied with her life. In the opening scene, she is imagining white elephants as
she looks onto the Ebro hills. The white elephants refer to an unwanted gift. She wants the gift of a
child but knows she can t have it because the man doesn t want it. This makes her unhappy and makes
her look for an imaginary life. She drinks a lot and never settles down in one place. As she looks at the
hills, she sees that there is no shade and no trees on their side. Later in the story, she sees that the other
side of the hills is very fertile with a river, a field of grains, and many trees. Jig imagines her life as it

Essay about The Road to the American Civil War
The majority of speculations regarding the causes of the American Civil War are in some relation to
slavery. While slavery was a factor in the disagreements that led to the Civil War, it was not the
solitary or primary cause. There were three other, larger causes that contributed more directly to the
beginning of the secession of the southern states and, eventually, the start of the war. Those three
causes included economic and social divergence amongst the North and South, state versus national
rights, and the Supreme Court s ruling in the Dred Scott case. Each of these causes involved slavery in
some way, but were not exclusively based upon slavery. The North and South were forming
completely different economies, and therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The South had some urbanization, in cities such as Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina.
These cities served as transportation hubs, mainly for the transporting of goods, specifically cotton.
The South would transport cotton to the northern industries to produce finished goods from the cotton.
The transportation hubs and railroad systems existed more often in the North than in the South,
because there were more large cities. Due to the North and South existing with completely diverse
demographics, geographies, and economies they were unable to understand the needs of one another
in reference to the continuation of their thriving economies. With the North becoming more urbanized
and based on industry, its power was also growing. The bulk of politics, transportation, and industry
all existed in the North. The South began forming an opinion that new political decisions were being
made in the North s favor, and threatening the expansion of slavery, which threatened the expansion of
their economic growth. This began with the formation of Henry Clay s Missouri Compromise of 1820,
which let Missouri come into the Union as a slave state, and Maine would come in as a free state. This
established a clear separation, at the southern border of Missouri, between the slave and free states,

The Production Of Production Activities
Production Activities This section is an overview of the demands and tests associated with the
integrity of well during production from and injection to a reservoir. The process begins after the well
construction/well intervention organization has handed the well over to the production organization
and concludes with a handover back to drilling and well organization for intervention, work over or
abandonment. Well integrity during this phase is used to keep hydrocarbons from the pay zone inside
the well and by protecting it from leaking off to contaminating groundwater for environmental
purposes. Well barriers are an envelope of one or several dependent barrier elements preventing fluids
or gases from flowing unintentionally from the formation to the surface and are designed and used to
prevent leakages and reduce the risk associated with drilling, production and intervention activities.
The main functions of a well barrier are to prevent any major hydrocarbon leakage(s) from the well to
the external environment during normal production or well operations and to shut in the well on direct
command during an emergency shutdown situation and thereby prevent hydrocarbons from flowing
from the well out. During production, a perfectly reliable well barrier element(s) is paramount to
containing the hydrocarbons inside the well. Well barrier elements are several objects that prevent
formation fluids from flowing inside the well. They could be anything from packers or tubing or

Whole Life Insurance Policy
Get to Know About Whole Life And Term Insurance Policies Have you ever thought what will happen
to your family if you ever die unexpectedly? If this is the case then you should surely purchase a life
insurance policy. By purchasing a life insurance policy you can secure the future of your family.
Taking a life insurance policy is similar to getting into an agreement between you and the insurance
company. The insurance company will consent to cover the loss of your life with a coverage amount
that you choose. Consequently you need to consent to pay the premiums routinely. In case you die and
if your death falls under the conditions that are secured in the policy, the insurance company will pony

Same as the term life, this kind of policy will cover your death with insurance. In any case, instead of
having a term that may lapse on you, a whole life insurance will cover you from the minute you
purchase the policy until the time of your death. One more point of interest of this policy is that this
comes with an investment choice. The cash you pay consistently as premium has two purposes. One
section goes for the genuine cost of insurance coverage and alternate goes as an investment
arrangement which earns you an interest. Contingent upon the sort of whole life insurance you choose
you can tell the insurance company what amount you need to go towards the coverage and what will
go towards the investment. The whole life insurance policy assures you an ensured death advantage
that never decreases and upon death is usually free of government salary taxes. If you choose you may
take the death advantage as a month to month wage instead of a knot

Titration In The Medical Field
Today, in the real world, titration is used in the medical field to find the concentration of blood and
urine. It is also used to find a certain amount of a chemical in a food. A titration is a way to the
concentration of an unknown solution by using a solution with a known concentration. The unknown
solution is called an analyte , while the known solution is called the Titrant . The glassware used in
order to preform titrations is a buret or burette . A burette is a glass cylinder with a tap on one of the
edges. It is used for measuring volumes of liquids, especially in titrations.
Standardization (sometimes referred to as standardisation) is a way of putting something or make
something into technical standards. Standardization is used when doing a titration since it finds out the
exact concentration of a solution that you want to use to find the concentration of the analyte.
An equivalence point in a titration is when the moles of the titrant equal the moles of a analyte. One
way to find the Equivalence point is through the pH indicator. This is an indicator that changes color
when there is a chemical change. An acid and base indicator changes color depending on what the pH
is. There are also Redox ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to find a standard solution you must first, add water from a cleaning bottle to dissolve it.
Second, you would need to use some of the water to rinse off all the substance off the watch glass.
This needs to be done at least two times. Then stir with a glass rod until all the of the solid substance
is dissolved, then put the solution to the volumetric flask. The laboratory method is when you drop the
titrant into the analyt. (basically titration). The results you get are titration, pH level, and the moles.
The equation to find molarity/concentration is: M1 x V1 = M2 V2. In conclusion, titration is very
useful in the modern day. It s also pretty

The Berlin Wall Essay
The Berlin Wall
Today people belong to the CNN generation. Any time an event happens in the world today people
turn to CNN. In recent years, the Gulf War, and the events in Bosnia have been headliners. In 1989,
one event monopolized the airways of
CNN, THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL. I remember seeing this, and thinking how little I knew
about this event. The fall of the Berlin Wall succeeded in one aspect that today is still not been
rectified; The Berlin Wall divided Berlin into two very distinctively different cities. These cities both
developed differently. Even after the wall was destroyed eight years ago the city still remained

These questions all center around the aspect of Berlin becoming Two cities following World War II.
Berlin, eight years after the fall of the illustrious wall is now busy rebuilding and redefining itself.
Since my initial visit I have returned to see friends every other year. The city is no longer restricted by
its cold war status as the symbolic dividing line between East and West. Berlin is the new political,
cultural, and architectural capital of Germany and is quickly becoming one of the key business centers
in all of
Europe. Before Hitler came to power and lost World War II, Berlin had enjoyed this status. The
German government hopes today to groom Berlin as a possible capital of the new European Union.
They are grooming there economy, and the city to be the focal point.
BACKGROUND
After World War II Berlin, was badly damaged during the war, unlike World
War I. The Soviet Union wanted to bring the war to German soil. The Soviets harbored many hard
feelings toward the German people. The city was surrounded by the German Democratic
Republic/East Germany, and was partitioned into East
Berlin and West Berlin. The city was in the Soviet sector of the post war division.
But the capital too was divided among the victorious allies, to keep the capital with democratic ideals.
The divided city not only symbolized the collapse of the German Empire, of which it was the capital,
but also became a focus of cold war tensions

Differences Between Hinduism And Hinduism
Religion is the belief and worship of whatever higher power you choose to server, especially a
personal God or gods. In Judaism, its laws are gotten from the torah and initial five books of
scriptures; they put trust and beliefs in one God whom every one of us are displayed in our own
image. Christianity is like Judaism with one God, however utilizes the entire book of scriptures as a
guide, there are several of contrasts including laws which are available in Judaism and place of love.
Islamic followers or believers then again believe in Allah as their greatest being and the Quran as their
book of confidence or faith. Islamic practices or beliefs are stricter from what they eat, to what they
wear, how many times of day the pray along with other rules. Each one of these religions have their
days of worship and devotions for examples Christianity worship on Sundays, Judaism on Saturdays
and Muslim/Islamic on Fridays. In Buddhism religion, those who believe in it have confidence in
Buddha who was a prophet also compositions in their sacred book. They Believe in reincarnation
(rebirth), suffering, Karma and liberate oneself or way of finding reality. In Hinduism they don t have
a historical founder. Its origins reach back to primitive antiquity. Hindus believe in many Gods, the
two kinds of literature that comes from Hinduism are the Brahmanas and the commentaries called
Upanishads. I believe that an ignorant person would say deep down all religions are the same because

Theories Of Sociological Imagination
Sociological imagination is a concept that was defined in 1959 by American sociologist C. Wright
Mills. He described it as an awareness of the relationship between a person s behavior and experience
and the wider culture that shaped the person s choice and perceptions. It helps us relate our own
experiences to others. Sociological imagination can help us understand the difference between
personal troubles and public issues by determining if it is a problem in someone s own history or if it
is an issue in the society or culture s history.
Structural functionalism is a macro analysis view defined as The way each part of society functions

Functionalists view education as a way to pass on knowledge and skills. While functionalists believe
that schools sort students based upon their academic knowledge, Conflict theorists believe that
students are sorted based on their social/financial class. Conflict theory is The way inequalities

Reflection About Geography
Every other year, my high school offers a College in the Schools (CIS) geography course. In this
course, there is one assignment that all the upperclassmen would always complain about. As an
underclassman, I had dreaded the year that I was going to be receiving this assignment due to having a
tendency to save my projects for last minute. I will never forget the map that taught me that
procrastination makes the process of completing assignments more difficult, especially on a project
that is for a college class.
In the beginning of November 2016, my junior year, our college geography class received our quarter
project: a map of the world. Our teacher, Mr.Sharstrom, assigned our class a large number of physical
features that our maps needed to include such as rivers, lakes, islands, mountain ranges, seas, oceans,
and deserts. Mr.Sharstrom required us to include all seven continents and a key that showed
distinctions in the different physical features of the world. The maps needed to be to scale and show a
minimum amount of distortion as possible. When we received our project, our geography teacher
warned us, This project will be time consuming and you will not want to wait until the week before to
start your maps.
After communicating expectations with the class, a majority of my classmates began to work on their
maps. I knew that my family was traveling to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, for Thanksgiving break, so
I wanted to attempt to complete as much of the map as possible

Bankers prior to the establishment of the Federal Reserve would establish lines of credit with larger
banks. In the event of a run, the smaller bank would draw on the line of credit. In times of panic, large
numbers of depositors would demand to withdraw their money, and only the largest Wall Street banks,
with millions of dollars in reserve, could guard against this. In the early twentieth century, people were
running to withdraw all their cash from their accounts, this may seem dramatic, almost theatrical to
people today. Nevertheless, to people living in an economically unstable society, they were an

The Federal Reserve Act also required that all nationally chartered banks must be members of the
Federal Reserve System. However, it was not met without criticism. It was said to have reflected the
rooted dislike and distrust of banks and bankers that has been for many years and there should not be
absolute political control over the business of banking. Despite some strong opposition it was made
clear that although government influence would be present, it was designed to be free from personal or
party politics. The public, much quicker than Wilson had anticipated, as he described the Act as a
constitution of peace for the private businesses of the nation, accepted the Act quickly. The Act was
not perfect, however, and the last sentence of the Act states: quot; The rights to amend, alter, or repeal
this Act is hereby expressly reserved. quot; In fact, an overlying theme of the Federal Reserve Act was
one of uncertainty; and many of the provisions used language like quot;under the rules and regulations
to be specified by the Federal Reserve Board, quot; and quot;subject to review and determination of
the Federal Reserve Board. quot; The rules had to be developed as the game was learned. The Federal
Reserve Act helped to stabilize the volatile banking system. No longer were banks independent
organizations working against each other. Now they were secure interrelated operations. The Federal
Reserve Act worked because it eliminated the competition to hoard money

Ninotchka: Capitalism over Communism
The film from 1939, Ninotchka, the comedy drama directed by Ernst Lubitsch shows how the culture

the film s release, World War II had broke out and the foreign market for movies was waning.

Ninotchka was made during a very integral part of history and shows some key historical aspects and
cultural aspects of the time period. This film reverses gender roles through the character of Ninotchka
and shows how sexuality was becoming more and more overt in films and regulations becoming more
lax on it because people wanted to see more overt sexuality. Ninotchka was released just as World War
II was starting. The theme of the film was also very important because it explored the different aspects
of the capitalist system versus the communist system while portraying the capitalist system in a more
favorable light. However it makes a joke out the communist system through its portrayal of the three
comrades and their behavior. It addresses a major issues and takes a stand against it while also doing
so in a comical way. For these reasons, the film, Ninotchka had a very significant political meaning
because of the time period it was released and the risk it was taking against Russia who was a much
needed ally. It also shows the culture of the time period and how people were feared the threat of
communism and the influence it might have on their country. Ninotchka was able to encompass all of
these aspects and was able to portray it in a way that was enjoyable but was also very persuasive in
showing why capitalism is more favorable than

Persuasive Essay On Recycling
With the rapidly increasing use of plastic, aluminum, and paper materials, it only makes sense that the
problem we chose to focus on is recycling. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic
for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn t been done before is difficult, that
would be an understatement. As any group of well educated engineers would, we started our journey
at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of
our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we
thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn t just about us getting a patented
idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is
one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That
was recycling.
Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem
area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else
had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming
up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to
find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and
even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from
recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors.
With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it
was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by
some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a
plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever
recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow,
torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong
enough to shred even

Genghis Kh The Emperor And Founder Of The Mongol Empire

History 300
16 November 2014
Genghis Khan Genghis Khan was the emperor and founder of the Mongol Empire, a man known
throughout history for his ruthlessness, and success, as head of the largest land based empire during
his tenure. A nomadic people, the Mongols spent many years prior to the great success of Genghis
living in turmoil, lacking a leader to unify and lead the people to greater success than simply
surviving. Prior to his death in August 1227 and subsequent burial back in Mongolia, Genghis Khan s
Mongol Empire spanned from China to Eastern Europe, Vietnam into Siberia, encompassing the
people and cultures of those conquered in these lands. In order to impose his will and assert
dominance over Russia, Eastern Europe, China, and the heartland of Islam, Genghis Khan
revolutionized warfare and weaponry, bringing a swift end to any enemy standing in his path. With a
territory stretching across Asia into Europe, and with his undersized army fighting and defeating much
larger forces, Genghis Khan s strongest attribute was his military prowess. Despite conquering
numerous civilizations over a vast area of land and influencing the cultures, governing, social lives,
and more, Genghis Khan s greatest influence on the world throughout his ventures was his influence
on the military, through tactics, weaponry, and leadership. Born sometime in the 1160s, the youth

Garrison Keillor s The Prodigal Son vs. Luke s The Parable of the Prodigal Son
The classic story of the Prodigal Son is one of the best known parables in literature. A parable is often
times described as a short narrative which teaches a moral; however, the plot is more realistic, than
say a fable, and the characters are humans as oppose to animals or natural forces within nature.
Parables are also presented in a more suggestive tone, which leaves them more open to interpretation.
The play Prodigal Son told by Garrison Keillor differs greatly in terms of style compared to Lukes

This style merely added to the parable itself. One could argue that since the personalities in Keillors
version were more developed, it left less room for ones own interpretation. Because the personalities
of the characters were more distinct, it also alllwed for more focus on the actual plot and the building
moral. Since the moral is the true point to a parable, it would be pointless for an audience or reader to
be stuck on the their curiosity of the type of people the characters were supposed to represent. More
detail, merely aids in the strength of a parables narrative qualities. A major difference that I noted
when reading and comparing the two parables was the usage of language. That writing style of the
parables truly affected my interpretation of the moral. Keillor took a much more modern approach to
the language that the characters conversed with. He also utilized more symbolism in the language in
order to pursue more of a comedy type piece. An example of such is when Wally returnas home and
his father is ecstatic about his return, and begins to give him gifts and attention. The father then
decides amongst all his excitement that he wants to give Wally a ring, which he had already given to
the older son Dwight. Dwight responds with, cant give it to the son who has worked his tail off for

dispatch on large scale power systems. The proposed ALHN is a continuous Hopfield network with its
energy function based on augmented Lagrange function. For this combination, the ALHN method can
easily deal with large scale problems with nonlinear constraints. The proposed ALHN has been tested
on systems from 40 units to 240 units, IEEE 118 bus and IEEE 300 bus systems, and the obtained
results have been compared to those from other methods. The test results have shown that the ALHN
method can obtain better solutions than the com¬pared methods in a very fast manner. Therefore, the
proposed ALHN could be favorable for implementation on the real power dispatch problems for large
scale systems. The proposed ALHN has been tested on differ¬ent systems with large number of
generating units and buses for two cases neglecting power loss and including power loss in
transmission system. Serhat

  • 5. Avant-Galsch Art Expressionism During the nineteen forties and fifties, the art economy in America exploded after several of the artists that previously lived in Europe flooded into New York because of the immense damage in Europe from the second world war. The most influential Art Critic of the 20th century, Clement Greenburg argued that art with any sort of illusionistic representation or reference was regressive art because it gives an audience the answers right away and lacks authenticity. Any work that had a connection to popular culture, that everyone understood, and was inherently enjoyed was called kitsch . Kistchy art was also a threat to Greenburg and other critics because it could easily be used to control the masses. Any government or authority is able to pluck out any iconography that a society is fond of, and use it to control the them with slanted political messages. Avant Garde art asks questions that people can t answer right away, and Greensburg states that an if audience has to think about the meaning then art is kept alive. In his essay Avant Garde and Kitsch (1939), Greenburg states that painting should be a sensuous experience about paint on canvas, color relationships and texture. Abstract Expressionism would be the first Avant Guarde movement to emerge out of North America. This movement was about gestural paint strokes, and artists realizing physic depth of the unconscious mind. Greensburg was a huge advocate for this movement, but as art bleed into everyday life ... Shakespeare is known for his use of imagery, similes, and metaphors in his work. Dark and light, a strong motif in the tragedy of Macbeth, is often used not only in literature, but in everyday life to contrast good and evil. People often associate darkness and dark things with evil and death, while the opposite applies to light. Light is most often associated with good tidings, heaven, God, and life. Hale comes to Salem in 1692 to examine Betty Parris. John did not fall into the ideology of fake witchcraft like others in Salem. He does start the hysteria that is happening in Salem when he encourages the girls to rat out on the other girls and people in town. With later regret, Reverend Hale follows his religious and puritanical beliefs. John Hale follows idea of puritanism by trying to keep the court fair, keeping god in his life, and maintaining his intellectual abilities throughout the play. Hale was trying to keep the court fair at all times. By doing so, he was keeping the belief of the Bible in mind. Reverend Hale says, I have seen too many frightful proofs in court the Devil is alive in Salem, and we dare not quail to follow wherever the accusing finger points! This is saying that no one should be put on trial without evidence of witchcraft. In the play, whoever gets the finger pointed at them is put on trial. In today s court people can t be tried without evidence. By Hales doing of this, he is trying to maintain the balance of equality in the courts. Even though he was the person who influenced the girls to rat each other out, he looks back and regrets it and corrects it when he quits the court after deeming it unfair. The Effects of Catholicism on the Education of Women in Renaissance Italy According to Paul Grendler, the conservative, clerical pedagogical theorist Silvio Antoniano (1540 1603) reflected on women s educational status in Renaissance Italy in one of his written works, claiming that ...a girl (should not) learn pleading and writing poetry ; the vain sex must not reach too high...A girl should attend to sewing, cooking, and other female activities, leaving to men what was theirs . Apparently, this was the common held view concerning women s education during that time. Although women were actually encouraged to literacy, their subservient social role as wives and mothers could not allow them to learn as much as men did (Grendler, 1989). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, we see that in a sense, Catholicism acted as a catalyst in the development of female education. Paradoxically enough though, at the same time, it limited the possible level of knowledge they could attain. The thought of the supposedly foolish, sinful female sex breaking the bonds of ignorance made many people fear the possibility of women reading forbidden books. Dante s La vita nuova , the Petrarchan sonnets and the Decameron are a few examples of books that were considered lasciviously dangerous and kept off limits (Grendler, 1989). Indeed, women could be educated, yet within a certain framework. Their level of knowledge only went up to a point, in order to make sure they grew up to be exemplary, pious, Christian housewives. In this paper I will discuss the popular views concerning women s nature and status in society and how this affected their education. I will mention what women learned and how; what kinds of institutions were accessible to what types of women. Men s education will be briefly mentioned in places. Merchant Of Venice Theme Analysis The Merchant of Venice Question: The Merchant of Venice was a play about a Jewish moneylender who plots to cut off a pound of flesh from a Merchant whom he has a history with. Revenge was the central theme of Shakespeare s play The Merchant of Venice . However, there are other themes throughout the text, namely friendship and prejudice, that help to emphasise revenge as the central theme of the play. Revenge is an integral part of the play and characters in the play. Revenge is what drives Shylock, seeking to obtain revenge on Antonio. In a way, Jessica seeks revenge for the hell that her father made at home. In Venice, during the time of Shakespeare, Jews were not seen as humans. They were alienated for their beliefs and due to the belief that Jews were responsible for the death of Christ. As a result of this alienation, Jews were forced to wear red hats whenever going out, which made them ripe for the picking for abuse and discrimination. Such discrimination has been laid down on Shylock, with Antonio spitting on him and calling him a cut throat dog . As seen in Scene Act 1, Scene 3, Antonio, even after receiving a loan, I am as like to call thee so again, To spit on thee again, to spurn thee too. This shows how unthankful Antonio is towards Shylock, simply because he is a Jew. It is no wonder why Shylock seeks revenge on Antonio. • 22. Titration In The Medical Field Today, in the real world, titration is used in the medical field to find the concentration of blood and urine. It is also used to find a certain amount of a chemical in a food. A titration is a way to the concentration of an unknown solution by using a solution with a known concentration. The unknown solution is called an analyte , while the known solution is called the Titrant . The glassware used in order to preform titrations is a buret or burette . A burette is a glass cylinder with a tap on one of the edges. It is used for measuring volumes of liquids, especially in titrations. Standardization (sometimes referred to as standardisation) is a way of putting something or make something into technical standards. Standardization is used when doing a titration since it finds out the exact concentration of a solution that you want to use to find the concentration of the analyte. An equivalence point in a titration is when the moles of the titrant equal the moles of a analyte. One way to find the Equivalence point is through the pH indicator. This is an indicator that changes color when there is a chemical change. An acid and base indicator changes color depending on what the pH is. There are also Redox ... He described it as an awareness of the relationship between a person s behavior and experience and the wider culture that shaped the person s choice and perceptions. I will never forget the map that taught me that procrastination makes the process of completing assignments more difficult, especially on a project that is for a college class. In the beginning of November 2016, my junior year, our college geography class received our quarter project: a map of the world. Our teacher, Mr.Sharstrom, assigned our class a large number of physical features that our maps needed to include such as rivers, lakes, islands, mountain ranges, seas, oceans, and deserts. Mr.Sharstrom required us to include all seven continents and a key that showed distinctions in the different physical features of the world. The maps needed to be to scale and show a minimum amount of distortion as possible. When we received our project, our geography teacher warned us, This project will be time consuming and you will not want to wait until the week before to start your maps. After communicating expectations with the class, a majority of my classmates began to work on their maps. Despite some strong opposition it was made clear that although government influence would be present, it was designed to be free from personal or party politics. The public, much quicker than Wilson had anticipated, as he described the Act as a constitution of peace for the private businesses of the nation, accepted the Act quickly. The Act was not perfect, however, and the last sentence of the Act states: quot; The rights to amend, alter, or repeal this Act is hereby expressly reserved. quot; In fact, an overlying theme of the Federal Reserve Act was one of uncertainty; and many of the provisions used language like quot;under the rules and regulations to be specified by the Federal Reserve Board, quot; and quot;subject to review and determination of the Federal Reserve Board. quot; The rules had to be developed as the game was learned. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn t been done before is difficult, that would be an understatement. As any group of well educated engineers would, we started our journey at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn t just about us getting a patented idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That was recycling. Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors. With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow, torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong enough to shred even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A nomadic people, the Mongols spent many years prior to the great success of Genghis living in turmoil, lacking a leader to unify and lead the people to greater success than simply surviving. Prior to his death in August 1227 and subsequent burial back in Mongolia, Genghis Khan s Mongol Empire spanned from China to Eastern Europe, Vietnam into Siberia, encompassing the people and cultures of those conquered in these lands. In order to impose his will and assert dominance over Russia, Eastern Europe, China, and the heartland of Islam, Genghis Khan revolutionized warfare and weaponry, bringing a swift end to any enemy standing in his path. With a territory stretching across Asia into Europe, and with his undersized army fighting and defeating much larger forces, Genghis Khan s strongest attribute was his military prowess. Despite conquering numerous civilizations over a vast area of land and influencing the cultures, governing, social lives, and more, Genghis Khan s greatest influence on the world throughout his ventures was his influence on the military, through tactics, weaponry, and leadership. Since the moral is the true point to a parable, it would be pointless for an audience or reader to be stuck on the their curiosity of the type of people the characters were supposed to represent. More detail, merely aids in the strength of a parables narrative qualities. A major difference that I noted when reading and comparing the two parables was the usage of language.
