The Irish Poetry and Postcolonialism
Ireland was a British colony for more than seven centuries, for this time it was hidden their native
identity, as well as their language. The British colonizers imposed not only their language but also
their culture. In 1922, it was signed the Treaty in which Ireland was considered a free state. As and
introduction to Heaney poems, I will use a poem of Yeats, who is the poet that starts to talk about
postcolonial themes. Maybe Yeats was one the most important figures in the reconstruction of the Irish
identity. He represents the relationship between Ireland and Britain in his poem Leda and the Swan .
The first publication of this poem was in the radical magazine To morrow in 1923. Some years later it
was republished in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the poet pretends it is to get back to his roots, as it is showed in line 15 16. By God, the old
man could handle a spade Just like his old man.
Both his father and his grandfather are working the land, that land which has a special meaning to the
Irish identity because it is the place were they were born and it was free of the British control. The
new potatoes in the poem represent the new expectation to Ireland. However, the Irish identity is not
the only interpretation of poem. It is also represented the opposition between the cultural life and the
life of hard work in the land. Heaney does not think he will be able to use the spade like his and his
grandfather, that means he is not going to dig with a spade but he is going to dig into the historical
present of Ireland with his pen which is the weapon that he uses against the British colonization. In his
poem A Northern hoard he talks about the Irish Great Famine of 1845 , in which many Irish died and
many other had to leave the country. In the first part of the poem we can see which is entitled Roots
makes reference to the old Gomorrah which the town that was punished by God. This town was
devastated for the Flood like Ireland was devastated by the plague. In these four poems the author
always uses the first person narrator who gives a sense more personal of the poem. The poet

Advantages Of Allergy Free Bakeries
Advantages of Allergy Free Bakeries
A large number of individuals around the globe are sensitive to the five most regular sustenance
allergens. These are nuts, tree nuts, dairy, gluten, and soy.
Sustenance sensitivities set in when the resistant framework erroneously recognizes protein in the
nourishment as a danger to the body. Thus, your body discharges certain chemicals to avert disease.
These chemicals trigger hypersensitive responses which incorporate sickness, stomach torment,
exhaustion, the runs, rashes, bothersome skin, mid section torment, and unexplained weight reduction.
Gluten, which is available in like manner pastries, is a blend of proteins found in grains such as wheat,
grain and rye. This protein blend is known not unfriendly responses to individuals who are
experiencing gluten bigotry or celiac infection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the motivation behind why individuals who have a low resilience to specific sustenances
should be picky particularly with the pastry shops where they purchase treats and pastries.
In the event that you are delicate to gluten and different allergens in prepared items, you have to
discover an allergen free pastry shop fit for giving heated treats that do exclude certain components
that will trigger your sensitivities. Simultaneously, one might locate a few extra advantages that
concur with obtaining from a complete allergen cognizant bread kitchen. These advantages
incorporate the accompanying:
1. Hypersensitivity free sustenances enhance your digestive framework.
Poor processing, gas torments and stomach issues are the absolute most regular impacts of
nourishment hypersensitivities or gluten affectability. Going sans gluten or purchasing heated
merchandise from allergen free pastry shops can keep your digestive framework working better.
2. Eating without gluten items builds your vitality

Business, Industrialization And Monopolies During The...
Rapid growth of business, industrialization, and monopolies, contributed to the Industrial Revolution
in the United States during the Progressive Era. Following a policy of laissez faire failed to control big
businesses. Although some critics may believe that the government negatively impacted businesses
during the Industrial Revolution, the regulations put onto businesses positively contributed to
economic growth and protected the American citizens from the big businesses. Prior to the industrial
revolution in America, businesses were small, family owned, and generally did not cause many
problems. At the time, the largest enterprises only employed around 50 people ( Corporations ). With
only small businesses up to the 1870 s, the government was able to follow laissez faire policies.
However, the Industrial Revolution grew in Europe and quickly made its way to America. Businesses
rapidly began to grow and monopolies formed. The need for railroads and transportation supported the
growth of industries ( Corporations ). The railroads made it easy to transport manufactured goods
across the nation ( Industrial ). Robber barons, John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and J.P. Morgan,
took advantage of the need for new industries and quickly began to ruin the country; their monopolies
controlled everything. The formation of monopolies and trusts eliminated competition and drove
prices of basic items up (Benson). Consumers began to have only one expensive option for the

The Raven And The Scarlet Letter
A common theme in the American Renaissance is breaking free from the intellectual traditions of the
past. This is effectively expressed by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne despite differences in
their writing style through the stories of The Raven and The Scarlet Letter respectively. Although their
writing style is different, both authors indicate that breaking free from intellectual traditions of the past
is present in their writing. Both Poe and Hawthorne want to know why things happen rather than how
things happen so they focus on how the mind works. As well as being gothic writers, they wanted to
determine whether guilt or sin has a psychological effect. In many of the stories by both authors a path
of consciousness is shown followed by the deterioration of a character s mind. As a result, characters
of Hawthorne and Poe are often deranged or they simply go mad. My finger, pointed at this man,
would have hurled him from his pulpit into a dungeon, thence, peradventure, to the gallows!
(Hawthorne 14). Chillingworth could have easily had his revenge by having Dimmesdale hanged or
thrown in prison. But instead he settles for psychological revenge that sends Dimmesdale into a guilt
ridden version of himself who punishes himself emotionally and mentally which ultimately leads to
his death. Frequently, Poe and Hawthorne show the struggles of human nature. Both believed that
human nature was less than good therefore evil was able to take hold of someone. Thrilled

Explain Why It Is Important To Take A Child s Temperature
Taking Your Child s Temperature
Knowing how to take your child s temperature is important so you can identify fevers and treat
illnesses properly. A normal temperature range is between 96°F (35.8°C) and 99°F (37.3°C). To find
out what temperature is normal for your child, take your child s temperature when he or she is well.
Whenever you take your child s temperature, write it down. Record the time, date, and any symptoms
your child has.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF THERMOMETERS?
There are several different types of thermometers. No matter which type you use, you should always
use a thermometer that provides a digital reading. Types of thermometers recommended for safe use
include:
Digital multi use thermometer. This type can read the temperature of the body in the mouth (orally), in
the rectum (rectally), or under the arm (axillary). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type is designed to be placed against the side of the forehead. It picks up the heat from the
temporal artery, which runs across the forehead.
Tympanic thermometer. This type is designed to be inserted gently into the ear canal. It records the
heat from a child s eardrum.
There are a few types of thermometer that are not recommended for use because they may not be safe
or they may not provide an accurate reading. Types of thermometers not recommended for use
include:
Glass mercury thermometers. Mercury is dangerous to your child s health and to the environment. The
glass in this type of thermometer can break, which could result in injury.
Temperature strips. These disposable strips have chemically treated dots that register temperature.
Pacifier thermometer. This type is shaped like a pacifier and is used to measure a child s temperature
orally.

What Causes Bone Augmentation Procedures
If you have bone loss, you may need to undergo a bone augmentation procedure before you can have
dental implants added to your mouth. Dental implants only work if you have enough jawbone to
support them. The dentist can use bone grafts to restore your jawline. Having your jawbone restored
gives the dentist a more sturdy foundation to work with when fixing your smile.
What Causes Bone Loss?
You may need to have a bone augmentation procedure done if the bone under your gums is too short
or slim to support a dental implant. Some of the most common situations that lead to bone loss include
the following:
Periodontal disease
Cavities and tooth infections
Long term denture usage
Injury or trauma
Missing teeth

The Properties Of Solid Sorbents Relevant On The...
Sorbent characteristics
This chapter discusses the properties of solid sorbents relevant to the performance and cost of CO2
capture. The chapter begins with a discussion of the solid sorbent properties that are important for
CO2 capture. The discussion then broadens to include a range of factors which affect the CO2 capture
process, such as the interactions between the solid sorbent and other flue gas components, sorbent
attrition and degradation, and the influence of reaction kinetics. The chapter concludes with a
summary of ?best estimate? characteristics of the specific solid sorbents analyzed in this work.
Solid sorbent properties
Solid sorbents are small porous particles which can selectively adsorb or complex with gaseous
chemical species (in this case, CO2), thereby removing the species from a gas mixture. Molecules of
CO2 may be held loosely by weak intermolecular forces termed ?physiosorption? or strongly via
covalent bonding, termed ?chemisorption.? Generally, physiosorption occurs when the heat of
adsorption is greater than approximately 40 kJ/mol of CO2 (i.e. 20 to 40 kJ/mol), while chemisorption
occurs with the heats of adsorption less than 60 kJ/mole (Yang, 2003). These are rules of thumb,
however, and exceptions do exist. For instance, the heat of physiosorption of CO2 in some zeolites has
been reported to be as low as 210 kJ/mol CO2 (Shen, et al., 2000), with heats of chemisorption known
to extend from as low as 62 kJ/mol to over 420 kJ/mol. The heat

School Lunch Essay
Skipping Dessert
When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every day
in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to undoubtedly
recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who also notice how
horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same cafeterias are
tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are always
continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have simply
changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of baked fries.
Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large variety of sweet
fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a catastrophe, I can
understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch. Allowing the NSLP
to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their children would be
getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and malnutrition in the
United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices.
In the article School Lunches , the author discusses whether or not the government s National School
Lunch Program (NSLP) should be allowed to regulate what is served in school lunches. The NSLP is a

Europe Is Nothing Without Africa Not The Other Way Around
Europe is nothing without Africa not the other way around. By the early twentieth century most of
Africa, excluding Ethiopia and Liberia had been colonized by European powers. Earlier between the
1870s and 1900 Africa faced many hardships from the Europeans such as imperialist aggression,
conciliatory pressure, invasions from the military, prospective journeys and colonization. Although
African societies put up resistance the scramble for African soil was taken by the Europeans. W.E.B
Dubois declares his concept of the color line providing the dark cynical view of the worlds
relationship to black civilization and its potential following the Berlin conference. The Berlin
Conference was called to regulate European colonization and trade in Africa during the Imperialism
period. The Fourteen countries in participation included : Belgium, Austria Hungary, Denmark,
France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden
Norway (unified from 1814 1905), Turkey, and the United States of America. During the time of the
conference Africa had no only returned to being a local controlled country but an independent country
at that. With Africa being easily accessed, conforming to be the central power of Europe there needed
to be rules established for the involved countries dealing with each other. Therefore the Berlin
conference managed to form a set of rules. With Africa being easily accessed, conforming to be the

Maxine Hong Kingston By Maxine Kong
Maxine Hong Kingston prides herself on her personal strength and character, as well as the ability she
developed to assert herself into a culture that is not accepting of her differences. As the daughter of
Chinese immigrants living in the US, she was tasked with living a double life, straddling the line
between her traditional Chinese upbringing and the environment outside of her home in 1960 s
California. She was in many ways a perfectly normal and intelligent child. Through her writing she is
able to describe complex interactions from her childhood, detailing her reasoning and understanding
of the world. Despite this cleverness and flexibility, she begins her account by describing herself as
voiceless, seemingly dumb, and explains how it was that she failed kindergarten. Through this story
we get a view of how an intelligent young person might experience difficulties caused by cultural
differences, a unique perspective from a first generation American. In this excerpt from Woman
Warrior, Kingston recounts her experiences as a young person without a voice. Her struggle is
deepened by the culturally engrained xenophobia and misogyny that existed in her diverse
neighborhood, as well as pressures and extreme obstacles thrown at her by her own mother. The child
whom Kingston describes goes through continuous growth in finding her own identity and strength in
character, but it is clear that she still carries the fear and pain created by her uniquely difficult

Pros And Cons Of The Railway Labor Act
1. The Railway Labor Act is a law enacted by the federal government to ensure that key movement of
goods and services are not interrupted by worker / employer labor disputes. It would keep the flow of
goods and services going by ensuring that instead of strikes there would be arbitration and mediation
to resolve any labor disputes. The Railway Labor Act can strike only over major issues but only after
they have exhausted the arbitration and mediation process or the federal court could involve

Horace Adversity Essay
The Roman poet Horace states that Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous
circumstances would have lain dormant. By this, he explains the role these hardships play in shaping
and developing a person s character. I agree that adversity not only elicits talents, but also brings out
the hidden aptitudes within a person that which they were unaware of before. Through learning
experiences and observations, I have witnessed the significant outcomes that come from the result of
adversities. Initially, when I think of someone who handled a great deal of difficulty, yet overcame
them and succeeded, I picture Abraham Lincoln. Abe had many struggles that not many people know
of. When he was young, Lincoln moved several times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many ways people can experience distress either psychologically or emotionally. A close
friend of mine was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder called acrophobia at a very young age.
Acrophobia is an intense fear of heights. She experienced multiple panic attacks while being above a
certain distance, making her extremely uncomfortable and unbalanced. This caused her to be unable to
go on everyday things such as playgrounds, building over two stories, and airplanes. After she was
twelve, she finally decided to face her fear and overcome her acrophobia. She learned how to breathe
during panic attacks in order to calm down and to not think about the negative outcomes that were
what if s in her mind. Once she managed to cope and get around her anxiety, she was able to
participate in gymnastics on high beams and bars. Now, she competes at a collegiate level and is
highly successful. From the adversity my friend encountered, she now is aware and cognizant of her
amazing talent as a gymnast, and now she also can experience the world around her through a
different point of view. Overall, adversity is not always something to be avoided. Once someone is
affected by adversity in their life, they must keep going and work through it opposed to allowing it to
block them permanently. While enduring a difficult time, people are most vulnerable and receptive,
making it imperative to properly handle these misfortunes that shape

Merion Veenom Soccer Tribe Analysis
Tribe, described by the dictionary as, Any aggregate of people united by ties of descent from a
common ancestor, community of customs and traditions , can cause many people to often tumble into
disagreement with one another over the meaning of this word. Arguments have lead people to believe
that the word tribe refers to a group of people that are primitive and savage, but Archeologists have
cleaned up the meaning. Archaeologists define the word tribe as, A political group that comprises
several bands or lineage groups, each with similar language and lifestyle and each occupying a distinct
territory (Keim, pg. 114). The word tribe not only applies to the Native Americans as one would think.

Each player in the team may have separate backgrounds, but when united they all believe in a few
things. The team itself believes that they always need to be focused and always need to show up with
intensity whether they have a practice or a game. The Venom, were a newly created soccer team in
2014 by coach Steve Baron. They understand their world as a place to get better, and a place to
compete. Every single kid on the team understands the other teams as enemies that they need to
concor. Each child has a different life story about how they became the person they were. For
example, some kids were born in Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, and some kids were born in Trinidad and
Tobago. The kids come from many different backgrounds, but all unite because they understand the
world the same. Alike the Native Americans and African tribes, the Venom perform the same rituals
before each game and practice. They eat the same foods, always healthy, and they get themselves
loose in the same way each time. They always eat healthy foods like salads, fruits, and vegetables but
they never eat something that could weight them down like junk food. Before each game, the team
performs the same warm up, they jog, they spring, they do high knees, etc. These rituals before a game
never change, similar to how the Native Americans rituals never change. Because many of the
members come from different backgrounds, there is a stern difference between how they differentiate
themselves. Many kids show up to practices in clothes that they wear on a daily basis, so for some
people, that s different. Kids show up in jackets, shorts, gloves, hats, jerseys, anything under the sun.
The catch is that they are always unique, the outfits are never similar to the others. Although we all
share the same interests, we all differentiate from another because of our styles of life. In 2014, the

Reckless Driving In Virginia
Fifteen Ways to Get a Reckless Driving Ticket in Virginia
Virginia takes reckless driving seriously. Drivers convicted are guilty of committing a class 1 criminal
charge, the same criminal classification as a DUI/DWI conviction. Criminal charges can stay on your
record for years, and can have a huge impact on your lifestyle. Professionals who need security
clearances for their occupation may lose those authorizations. Military or government contractors,
who deal with sensitive matters, may not be able to get required sanctions. Insurance costs
significantly raise. Unfortunately, many driving behaviors that are considered traffic violations in
other states, are categorized as reckless driving in Virginia. Following are fifteen ways to get charged
with reckless driving in Virginia.

Virginia deems it a crime to drive over 80 miles per hour (mph), or 20 mph over the speed limit. A
simple speeding ticket may be taken care of by paying a fine after you return home. Because reckless
driving tickets are criminal, they are much more problematic. You can receive a Reckless Diving
Speeding ticket even when you are not otherwise driving recklessly, such as weaving, or changing
lanes. If the speeding criteria is met, the charge is reckless driving.
The second most commonly given reckless driving ticket is Virginia Code § 46.2‐852 involving any
behavior of a driver that puts life, limb, or property in danger. General reckless driving citations may

Marketing Plan For A Business Company
...carry a broader array of merchandise than the factory outlets, consisting of branded and designer
labeled merchandise that includes manufacturer s overruns, closeouts, or damaged goods. (Kaikati,
1985) Most items acquired to be sold at Ross are excess items from other stores that they could not
sell, items that are not the latest fashion anymore, and sometimes some defective products that are not
completely perfect but still useable. When these items are bought for Ross, they are generally bought
in bulk for deep discounts. This then means that Ross does not always check what is in the bulk of
clothes/products they are purchasing. There are times when these purchased products are not
appropriate for example having offensive graphics on clothing or bad quality of apparel that may
already be damaged. Although buying in bulk may be cheaper, it may result costly as well because if
the company does receive items as the ones explained above, then they are obligated to discard the
products immediately which results in a loss of profit.
Flexible Return Policy. A challenge that Ross Stores has is that its return policy can be a bit too
flexible for this company s good. The return policy seems like any other regular policy where the
customer can return an unused item within 30 days and get their money back, but this is not always
the case. A simple and easy return policy boosts sales, as shoppers are more willing to make purchases

Student Financial Aid For Students
Staring from the 1940s, Student financial aid began to play a significant role in prompting student
access, persistence and completion rate of American Higher Education. Since students can be regarded
as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the
improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide
the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need based aid and merit
based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher Education Act of 1965 is a milestone of
the development of need based aid. The Law was intended to strengthen the educational resources of
our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance for students in postsecondary and
higher education. Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of the federal financial aid system.
While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the impetus behind the Pell program, the
groundwork for broad based aid programs is more appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965,
the Higher Education Act of 1965 was reauthorized several times to achieve the goals. Need based aid
is essential for college access and success. According to Turner s research (2013), every $1000
decrease of tuition price will lead to 4% of increase in college attendance. Evidence suggests that
reducing college costs can increase college entry and persistence (Dynarski Clayton,

Compare And Contrast Egyptian Revolution And American...
Many times when people revolt against the government, it leaves the country in a worse spot that it
was before. Throughout history there have been many revolutions in many different places. Two of the
most significant have been the American Revolution, from the 1700 s, and more recently the Egyptian
revolution from 2011. Both of these revolutions have many similarities within each other, but they
also have many actions to contrast. The topics being compared include; how the revolutions started.
The demands of the revolting groups. Lastly, what the two groups did to protest against the
government.

Lastly, both of the revolutions included many protests. An example from each would be the Egyptian

Review Of Ayn Rand s Anthem
Anthem: A Review Anthem written by Ayn Rand is a novella about Equality 7 2521 and the dystopian
society he lives in. Everything is decided by a World Council and doing anything that makes you stand
out is classified as crime, your individuality is seen as a great evil. It is a warning of how putting
others in front of yourself is a great evil. So, after all 105 pages, how good was Anthem exactly? Plot
(6/10): The plot of Anthem is quite simple, almost everything you have seen in a dystopian novel is
also portrayed in Anthem. What is unique about Anthem however, is how the plot is given to you.
Pronouns in Anthem are quite unique, replacing words like I or me to those that refer to the group ( we

In this sense, diagnosis exists whether or not explicit diagnostic models are used (Akin, Dunford,

Although these views may not be explicitly stated, as implicit models they still have a powerful
capacity to guide how we think about situations that we face in our company, how we talk about those
situations, and what we deem to be appropriate courses of action (Akin, Dunford, Palmer, 2006).
The apparent option of EA Inc. not using a model is not a real option; the choice is whether EA Inc.
should use one that is explicit or one that is implicit.
While implicit models may provide valuable insights based on accumulated experience, they do have
limitations. First, they are likely to be based on the limited experience of one or a few employees at
EA Inc.; thus, their generalizing ability may be uncertain. Second, because they are implicit, it is
difficult for other employees to be aware of the framework/assumptions within which decisions are

Walmart s Impact On The Canadian Retail Sector
Walmart has had a huge impact on the Canadian retail sector. Walmart first entered Canada in 1994
when it purchased 122 stores from the struggling Woolco chain. Over a decade later, six major retail
chains have disappeared in Canada due to fierce competition from Walmart. Walmart has such a major
influence on the retail sector that their move to open superstores with massive floor spaces promoted

California can do anything. Voting for change is a empowerment the government gives to the people.
Many people can play a key role for example California senators and representatives even motors of

Analysis Of Warren St. John s Outcasts United
In Warren St. John s Outcasts United, the citizens of Clarkston, Georgia had a fantasy of living in the
ideal American town. However, that fantasy stood no chance when faced with the harsh reality of life.
When a myriad of refugees from war torn countries were placed in Clarkston, the townspeople saw
their fantasy begin to slip away. Clarkston s residents disliked the influx of refugees because they
feared the thought of losing their ideal American town. The citizens were too selfish to live in such a
state of liminality as depicted by St. John. Rather than helping their neighbors, the old Clarkston
residents maintained their ideology by isolating the refugees and making it nearly impossible for the
refugees to survive or have a desirable life in Clarkston. The Clarkston residents were driven by fear
of the unknown and were reluctant to accept the refugees. Luma started a youth soccer program,
which was aimed toward the refugee children to help the younger generation of refugees fit into the
American society and lessen the tensions between the Clarkston residents and the refugees that was
evident in her generation of refugees. The Clarkston residents had to accept and become a part of the
inevitable change in their community.
To begin, the Clarkston townsfolk had to eliminate the isolation between themselves and the refugees
and accept the reality of their town changing. The refugees were set to live in apartments on one side
of the town, while a majority of the

Forms Of Prejudice And Discrimination
People develop prejudice and basis throughout their lives based on a variety of reasons. Whether these

Prejudices and basis manifest thought cultural ideology, stereotypes, and emotions. Once a prejudice

overall recurring theme in discrimination, is a dominant group seeking to suppress a group they deem
inferior. According to the text, forms of discrimination include; (1) religious; (2) gender; (3) sexual
orientation; (4) national origin, culture, or tribe; (5) racial...; (6) class and caste; (7) political; and (8)
personal characteristics such as disability, age, and appearance (60). The degree of discrimination can
range from minute to extreme. Historically, some of the most egregious forms of discrimination have
been slavery, genocide, and disenfranchisement. Although events such as slavery and genocide have
created an everlasting negative image, society has become desensitized to repeated stereotypical

Value Of Value Proposition Essay
Discussion of how value propositions delivery value in different aspects
Background and concept definition
The term value proposition was first mentioned by Michael Lanning and Edward Michaels in a 1988
staff paper, they think value proposition has a function of delivering value in a business. A clear and
simple statement of the benefit and price which firm can provide to its customer. However, the rapid
development of business management, there are some argues of this term, and the concept is changing.
A value proposition not only is a statement, it should be a consequence after researching customers
need.
In practices, a successful value proposition needs to recognize the target consumer and their
expectations, and the way to meet the demand of the consumers. This means that the company could
provide a clear solution of optimizing time, performance and cost for their consumer, which not only
create competitive advantage for themselves, also for their consumer.
The strategic importance of the value proposition
To gain a strategically success on a company s business means they need to choose the right
consumer, or make the right products suitable for specific consumers who are willing to pay for it. In
this case, company usually develop a product which has its own value, after procurement and
manufacturing, they sell it to consumers, and normally the product come with afterward services, also
marketing would add additional value to the product, for example, the value of

Unholy Confessions Mood
I started off my day by waking up to my boyfriend s phone alarm. The song is called Unholy
Confessions by Avenged Sevenfold. It is in the genre of heavy metal and he picked that song to help
wake him up since he s a heavy sleeper. The tempo of the music was fast and the dynamics of this
song was forte. The main contributor to the dynamics is the vocalist who just screams the majority of
the song. The combination of loud and fast music created an upbeat mood which makes us feel like
jumping out of bed every morning. For the meter, there were four beats in a measure, and I found it by
listening for the downbeat which was the combination of the bass, the bass drum, and loud electric
guitar on the first beat of every measure. I don t particularly like this genre of music and listening to it
makes me feel very uncomfortable because to me it s very chaotic and not it s not peaceful enough. In

Ownership In The Great Gatsby
Defining the idea of ownership is the act, state, or right of possessing something. Drawing from
different philosophers who have studied the human condition, they look at the principle of ownership
in relation to one s sense of self. Aristotle claims that tangible ownership is fundamental to developing
a person s character. However, in Jean Paul Sartre s view, he claims that the existence precedes the
essence . Sartre is saying how there is an equal balance between tangible and intangible items, but the
existence is more important than nature since man can choose what they define himself to be. I believe
that the idea of ownership relates to both intangible and tangible objects to find a sense of self. It is

In the Great Gatsby, we are able to see how shallow and materialistic the upper class can be. They find
a sense of self through the tangible items that they possess. Tom Buchanan is an example of where he
defines himself through his wealth to express how he is better than everyone. He deliberately tries to
show off all of his expensive belongings, so that he can make a statement on his standard of living.
However, Tom sacrifices his own moral character by finding a sense of self through his fortune. He
finds no guilt when he is expressing infidelity towards his wife Daisy, but when the idea of Daisy
having an affair with Gatsby transpires he becomes outraged and demands a confrontation. Although
Tom is a reckless narcissist, not all individuals that possess a fortune are shallow. Looking at
contemporary society, Bill Gates is a prominent figure that has an immense wealth but does not define
himself through it. He donates to countless charities that develop his moral character and is viewed by
his actions and not by his wealth. He finds pride through his charitable actions and is an important
example of proving how different views of ownership differ from each individual to find a sense of

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was probably the greatest genius in Western musical history. He was born
in Salzberg, Austria on January 27, 1756. The son of Leopold Mozart and his wife Anna Maria Pertl.
Leopold was a successful composer and violinist and assistant concertmaster at the Salzberg court.
At the age of three, Wolfgang showed signs of remarkable musical talent. He learned to play the
harpsichord, a keyboard instrument related to the piano, at the age of four. Wolfgang began composing

Several of his twenty two operas gained worldwide recognition soon after his death, and they still
please audiences all over the world. The Marriage of Figaro (1786) and Don Giovanni (1787) are
operas he composed with words in Italian. The Magic Flute (1791) has German words. Each of these
contains arias (beautiful melodies for singers), recitative (Rapidly sung dialogue), ensembles in which
several people sing at the same time, and choruses. The orchestra provides an ever changing
expressive accompaniment. The drama ranges from comedy to tragedy. Mozart wrote over forty
symphonies, many of which are performed today. Some originally were overtures (orchestral
introductions) for operas, and last only a few minutes. His later symphonies, which are the most
popular, are full length orchestral compositions that last twenty to thirty minutes. Most of them consist
of four sections. Mozart s last and most famous symphony, Number 41 (1788), is nicknamed the
Jupiter.
Mozart composed a great amount of church music, most of it for performance at the Salzburg
Cathedral. He wrote Masses and shorter pieces called motets; and he set psalms to music, especially
for the afternoon or evening service. The music is beautiful and varied. It includes choral and solo
parts, usually with accompaniment by organ and orchestra. Mozart s best known sacred work is the
Requiem (Mass for the Dead). He began it in the last year of his life and

False Memory And False Memory
A. Introduction
This study was in the cognitive approach to psychology, which focuses on the way people process
information. It looks at how people process the information they receive and how the treatment of this
information leads to their responses. The main area of cognitive psychology being studied is memory,
which refers to processes and structures involved with storing and retrieving information. The theory
of reconstructive memory and false memory is the focus of the experiment. False memory is a mental
experience that is mistakenly taken to be a veridical representation of an event from one s personal
past (Johnson, 2001). Factors which prompt the formations of false memory are misattribution of the
original source of information.
One experiment which explained the theory of False Memory was conducted by Roediger McDermott
in 1995. The aim of the study was to replicate James Deese s observations of false memory and find
the it s existence in a free recall task. The participants were 36 undergraduate students at Rice
University. The independent variable was the addition of critical lures and random words and the
dependent variable was the participant s ability to recall the correct studied words. The results were
calculated by finding the mean probability of recall of studied words (65), and of excluded words
(.40). They concluded that categorically similar words, were recalled at the same rate as those
presented. The participant s actions agreed with these

This point is easily proven true. For example, if someone types the word OLD in all capital letters in
Wingdings font, a flag, a sad face, and a thumbs down hand gesture will appear. There are endless
amounts of things you could say this stands for. One being, flags are bad and they make you sad. It
doesn t make a lot of sense that the creators of the Wingdings font would take the time to make the
letters O, L, and D, when put together, give that message about flags. Another example that
contradicts Microsoft s supposed hatred toward Jewish people is the word HAPPY. Again, if HAPPY
is typed in capital letters in Wingdings font, a finger pointing down, a peace sign, two flags and the
Star of Davis will appear. This word has no inside meaning, and if anything, proves that the creators
are not against Jews because the word happy is a positive, and cheerful one. Many people also have
concern about the characters Q 3 3 N Y when typed in the Wingdings font. A plane, two tower looking

Q33NY is said to be the flight number or tail number of one of the planes that crashed into the twin

Sorrowful Woman vs. Story of an Hour
Effect of Irony In Story of an Hour A Sorrowful Woman
A life as a wife and/or a mother, is usually appreciated and is a happy life as well. A relationship
between two people should consist of joy, commitment, responsibility, and most importantly love. For
the two main characters in both stories ( The Story of An Hour , and A Sorrowful Woman ) this was
not the case. The stories go against societies view with marriage roles and happiness. In The Story of

This explains her sanity was gone and she was unhappy with herself. Eventually the character isolates
herself in a room, away from her family as she examined the outside world through her window. The
irony in that scene is that she was trapped behind the outside world, just as she was trapped within
herself. As she spent her days in the white room, she began to develop different routines but none of
them satisfied her. She was unhappy with herself until she tried once more to transform herself once
again as a wife and mother. During her last attempt of being a housewife she took the time to knit two
sweaters for her husband and son. The sweaters were both dull and gray as in lifeless, which is ironic
towards the way the character perceived herself or surroundings. In both stories, each woman was put
into a stereotypical role of being housewives. This was popular in history because women did not have
much choice or option rather then stay home and cook, clean, take care of their children, etc. Both
women were married but instead of appreciating their lives in a joyful perspective, they were
oppressed by their living conditions. In both stories, there is a window scene mentioned. The window
seems to have symbolism of freedom which is ironic, because in reality they were both trapped in
unhappiness. Each time the characters looked through their windows, the outside view is described

Le Morte DArthur, And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, and the Gawain Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are
important works that should be considered when studying medieval literature. They both portray the
style and structure of medieval romance. They also tackle the same topic of King Arthur and his
knights, as well as share the same characters of King Arthur and Sir Gawain. In order to be able to go
over these works and understand them, one must understand the aspects of literature of the time.
There are some aspects found in almost all literary works written in the medieval times, some of
which are influenced by everyday life, problems, religion, and politics. For example, the French
invasion of England, known as the Norman Conquest, greatly influenced the language of the time. At
first, England was ruled by the Anglo Saxons, and used Old English in their literature, even though
they did not write much. With the invasion of the French, Anglo Saxon language was not considered
appropriate, and so they introduce a new easier dialect, which came to be known as Middle English.
This became the language they used to write, and the act of writing itself became more abundant.
Moreover, the conquest resulted in an increasing tension between England and France. This tension is
apparent in many works of the time, including Le Morte d Arthur . For example, the depiction of Sir
Launcelot as the greatest knight of all time in several romances. Also, Sir Gawain and the Green

Forecasting Paper
Abstract Forecasts are extensively used to support business decisions and direct the work of
operations managers. The two major types of forecasts are qualitative and quantitative. Within each of
these types are multiple methods and models. Qualitative forecasts are based upon subjective data.
Quantitative forecasts are derived from objective data. Both methods are not suitable for all situations
and circumstances. Each has inherent strengths and weaknesses. The forecaster must understand the
strengths and shortcomings of each method and choose appropriately. One example of forecasting is
the United States Marine Corps use of forecasting techniques, both qualitative and quantitative, to
predict ammunition requirements. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time Series Analysis Forecasting Time series analysis is a series of observations taken at regular
intervals over a specified period of time (Anonymous, n. d.). The following are techniques of time
series analysis: simple moving average, weighted moving average and simple exponential smoothing,
exponential smoothing with trend, and linear regression (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005).
Simple Moving Average The simple moving average considers a series of data and uses past
performance to predict future performance (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). It is an ongoing exercise.
When new data becomes available, the oldest data is dropped from the series and forecasts are
recalculated (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005).
Weighted Moving Average The simple moving average assigns equal weights to all periods considered
(Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). The weighted moving average allows the forecaster to assigns
weights to each period considered (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). The only requirement is that the
cumulative weights must equal 1. This method is particularly suitable for businesses with wide
seasonal variance.
Simple Exponential Smoothing Simple exponential smoothing accounts for the previous period s
forecasting errors in order to more accurately develop the current forecast by applying a smoothing
constant or response rate (Anonymous, n. d.). Exponential smoothing also

Golden Ass Essay
Golden Ass
Apuleius Golden Ass, the only surviving novel of the Roman Empire, is a tale of a Greek nobleman
devoting his life to the goddess Isis following his transformation to an ass and back. Although a work
of fiction, the novel reveals a great deal about religion in Apuleius society. This information, however,
must be viewed with a critical eye. He incorporates stories from Greco Roman mythology not to
affirm their validity, but to reveal their commonness to society. Apuleius insults other religions that are
not of the Pantheon with severe viciousness, while the general public may have been more open to
them. In the end, he praises Isis and Osiris as the supreme gods while giving first hand account of their
righteousness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the wild boar mutilated the handsome Adonis, the witches and the people of Hypta had disfigured
Thelyphron. Other incidents that are similar to stories in myth occur throughout the novel. Like these
two incidents, the others also follow the pattern of showing that things occurring in everyday Greek
life (having sexual relations with a slave and getting attacked by an angry mob) were nearly
synonymous with divine tales.
Following Lucious transformation to an ass, he takes on a more frontal assault towards the minor
religions present in the Roman Empire at the time. He outright calls the eunuch priests that worship
the Syrian Goddess frauds. The priests stay
Where the public were very kind to them: in particular they made a good deal of money by professing
to tell fortunes. Between them, these pious frauds composed an all purpose oracle for the Goddess to
deliver by their mouths, and used it to cheat a great many people who came to consult her on all sorts
of questions. (Graves, pg. 198 199)
By not revealing the specifics of the religion of the eunuchs, Apuleius leaves open the possibility of
applying the fraudulent aspect to other outside religions in the empire. With a short paragraph he
discredits several cults in the empire as being money driven and simply not true. It is also evident,
however, that the public does not share Lucius distrust of the foreign goddess. In fact, they appear to
be very open to her, and consequently to

Roman Roads
Roman Roads:
An Empire Connected
LVV4U1
December 16, 2013
Man has always moved along a road. It s just what the road has looked like that s changed over time
(Dan McNichol). Some would say that the legacy of the Roman Empire is viewed as the foundation of
civilization, having influenced every aspect of modern society, from literature to mathematics. Even
today, Roman law and foundation of government forms the basis of several modern democracies. The
ancient Empire`s monuments still stand millennia later, awing and inspiring us. Rome s extraordinary
achievements and the unparalleled string of influential people shaped the whole of Europe and even
the rest of the world. Philosophers blame the success of the Empire on many ... Show more content on

Secondly, the construction of the roads greatly amplified the strength and stamina of the Roman
soldiers. Augustus, the first Roman emperor, made it a policy that the soldiers were to keep busy, and
therefore stay out of trouble, which meant that all of the free time that the soldiers had was utilized in
the maintenance and the construction of the roads. Through the construction of the roads, the Romans
became infamous for their strength and stamina, and were viewed across Europe as a deadly force to
be reckoned with.
`It is no easy task to confine luxury within the limits of an empire. The most remote countries of the
ancient world were ransacked to supply the pomp and delicacy of Rome` (Gibbon, 75). In addition to
strengthening the military, the Roman roads also had numerous economic benefits. With over 53,000
miles of paved roads spanning across Europe, the Roman Empire was much more connected, and
travel was considerably easier. This led to Rome becoming the centre of trade across Europe, with
exotic goods coming in from every corner of the world. Aelius Aristides, a famous orator, is quoted to
have said: ` Large continents lie around the Mediterranean Sea and never ending supplies of goods
flow from them to you [the Roman people]. Everything from every land and every sea is shipped to
you . . . so that if anyone wanted to see all these things he would either have to travel the world or live
in Rome. ` (La Bédoyère, 104). This statement was

Carcraft failed due to lack of innovation and transparency
Introduction
Carcarft was the seventh leading second hand car dealer in the United Kingdom with 550 employees.
It operated ten forecourts in locations such as Newport, Lakeside, Leeds, Sheffield, Trafford Center
and Wednesbury among others (Callander, 2015). The Rochdale based company was established in
1951 as a family business; in 1998, it was bought by Noel and Darren McKnee from their father; the
two brothers sold the business later. The company sold 12,000 used cars at its brick and mortar stores
in the ten locations every year; however, it continuously made losses resulting to its closure on 30th

According to British Broadcasting Corporation s investigations, the company priced one Volkswagen
Golf at £8,792 online and £10,999 in the showroom (2014, p. 1). The strategy used to get customers to
its showrooms intended to sell cars expensively more than the valuation price. Furthermore, the
company used unethical tactics to pressurize customers to buy their used cars. For example, British
Broadcasting Corporation undercover investigations revealed that its sales team promised clients great
deals only after buying a car (2014, p. 2). Occasionally, the sales team did not fully explain the cost of
the car before asking clients to commit to buying it; in this case, the company concealed some
information from clients. Moreover, the company lied to customers that all its cars were inspected by
RAC when in reality RAC only approved the company s inspection process. In addition, RAC
confirmed that it only inspects cars randomly from every branch, but not every car (British
Broadcasting Corporation, 2014, p. 5).

Orson Welles And Citizen Kane
A film released in 1941 that tells the story of a man thrown into high social class. The audience
witnesses the predicament of a man, who is split in half between his polar personalities. Charles Foster
Kane has recently died and the predicament of interpreting his life and its meaning is left upon a
single reporter. ...A group of prominent films critics were asked to list the greatest directors and the
greatest films, Orson Welles and Citizen Kane both came in first (Carringer 32). Orson Welles
produces, co wrote, directed, and starred in the great American classic film, Citizen Kane, at the age of
26. Throughout this entire film, the audience is morally challenged along with being entertained about
the rise and fall of an American hero or villain depending on which way you look at it. It is
unquestioned that this film achieved great things in cinema. Welles utilizes the techniques of deep
focus, close ups, visual symbolism, and using several perspectives to tell the story of Charles Foster
Kane.
Citizen Kane contributed to the cinema world the most with its use of deep focus. This technique is
interesting in the fact that it includes everything in the frame, even the background, in focus all at
once. Welles was forced to combine lighting, shadowing, and using different lenses to produce this
effect. French theorist Andre Bazin described this technique as a dialectical leap forward in the
language of cinema, allowing directors to preserve realism and ambiguity of

Evaluation Of Routine Immunization Performance Essay
REVIEW OF Routine Immunization Performance In Pakistan
May 11th 24th, 2015
Hashim Elzein Elmousaad
1. Introduction and Background
Socio demography:
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has 4 provinces, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and
Baluchistan besides the federally administered territories and the capital Islamabad. The population of
Pakistan is estimated at 182 million in 2013 with an annual population growth rate of 2%. Pakistan is
having a birth cohort of 6.2 million infants, with 5.82 million surviving infants [1].
Routine Immunization and Polio Eradication:
In 2013 the UN Inter agency Group for child mortality estimation, showed that about 50% of under
five deaths occur in only five countries: India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo
and China [2]. It estimated that Pakistan has a child mortality of 86 per 1000 live birth. About 25% of
these deaths are attributed to vaccine preventable diseases. In recent years the Pakistani routine
immunization program faced many bottlenecks, which resulted in declining and stagnant coverage
rates of all antigens leading to increasing vulnerability of children to vaccine preventable diseases.
Last large measles outbreak was reported to kill more than 306 children [3]. Administrative coverage
data shows relatively high immunization coverage (DPT3 85%) across the last few years. However,
EPI management and partners doubt the data quality and reliability. Strengthening

Themes Of Beauty And Mortality In Romanticism
Romanticism is a term that is difficult to define both historically and conceptually. It was not, in its
own time, a romantic movement. To discuss how the themes of beauty and mortality are intertwined in
Romantic poetry I will be focusing on one major Romantic poet, William Wordsworth. According to
the Oxford Dictionary, Beauty is defined as a beautiful or pleasing thing or person in particular, and a
combination of qualities such as shape, colour, or form that pleases the aesthetic senses especially
sight. Mortality is defined as the state being subject to death. To intertwine these themes it would
mean having a theme that describes the beauty in all things, characters, nature, scenery and how these
will all die and fade away but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should she ever be far from him he prays that she remember how they stood together in this place and
that he came there with great energy and love. He asks she never forget how, after five years, he
returned, and felt a greater love for the beautiful place because she was with him. The theme of
memory is also very central to this poem. He not only visited Tintern Abbey, he remembered it.
Wordsworth himself knows that he will always have these fond memories for the rest of his life and
now, with this poem everyone who reads it will also be able to share, somewhat, what he experienced.
The realism of the poem is clear to us because the iambic pentameter resembles spoken English, thus
making us feel more connected to it. To My Sister is a poem dedicated to Dorothy. It is sensuous
evoking our senses of sight, smell and touch, once again reinforcing beauty within nature. Wordsworth
wants his sister to come outside and enjoy the openness with him and seize the day. There is an
urgency and excitement to his request. It is created with the use of an exclamation mark. He tells his
sister that their hearts will make silent laws if they allow themselves time to enjoy the beautiful spring
weather. Some silent laws our hearts will

Essay On The Night
Back before the women even took to the sky, there is a dark room. Windows line the wall opposite
large double doors. A desk sits a few feet in from the windows with the chair positioned so whoever
sits there is facing the door. The floor is made of a short, smooth carpet and the walls are white. There
are very few decorative pieces and with the only light coming from the night sky the room feels fairly
boring and confining.
Just then, one of the handles on the double doors begins to move, breaking the cold silence inside the
room. Immediately the room is filled with the voice of a woman on her phone as two guards hold the
doors open.

before finally looking over to the president herself.
You probably want to call them off.
The president takes a deep breath in through her nose and then exhales out of her mouth. Leave us.
Without question, the guards turn around and leave the room, shutting the door behind them.
Good, I didn t want this to get violent.
Why are you here?
Alright...straight to the point then. Why were you at my penthouse?
What are you talking about? The president folds her arms and stares sternly at Xasalamel.
Yesterday your personal special operative troops landed a helicopter on my building armed to assault
my penthouse. Xasalamel walks around the president s desk, running two fingers across the top as he
goes.
I never sent any troops. The president stands firm.
You know...I personally thought it was very clever of you. Wait for me to mess up and then call in a
request from me to try and make it up to you that would take me away for a long period of time
allowing you to conduct a surprise raid to either kill or recapture this new, and highly influential,
being... Xasalamel continues to walk closer to the president.
I don t know what you mean. I never sent troops.
But I ve got to ask, which was it? Was it to kill Selison, or capture him again?
Neither because I never sent troops, the president defends, enunciating the last

The Quantitative And Qualitative Research Method
The research is a technique that includes discovery, study, testing hypothesis, gathering information
and explaining phenomenon by using science as a method.
The researchers during the exploration, investigation or research usually use different kinds of
research methods like qualitative and quantitative methods. Each method depends on the assigned
task, discipline, research question, budget and many other factors. For example, in disciplines that are
entirely scientific such as chemistry, quantum mechanics or physics the quantitative research method
is usually applied but in other disciplines such as psychology, zoology or botany the qualitative
research method is usually applied. The formal definition of the both methods is following, the ...

leading observations in order to receive more or less numerical data and information. The common
point for quantitative method is an employment of different devices and instruments for the
measurement process and data collection . The planning process is supposed to be the most time

The qualitative research is a totally subjective rather than previous method with lots of texts along the

  • 2. The Irish Poetry and Postcolonialism Ireland was a British colony for more than seven centuries, for this time it was hidden their native identity, as well as their language. The British colonizers imposed not only their language but also their culture. In 1922, it was signed the Treaty in which Ireland was considered a free state. As and introduction to Heaney poems, I will use a poem of Yeats, who is the poet that starts to talk about postcolonial themes. Maybe Yeats was one the most important figures in the reconstruction of the Irish identity. He represents the relationship between Ireland and Britain in his poem Leda and the Swan . The first publication of this poem was in the radical magazine To morrow in 1923. Some years later it was republished in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the poet pretends it is to get back to his roots, as it is showed in line 15 16. By God, the old man could handle a spade Just like his old man. Both his father and his grandfather are working the land, that land which has a special meaning to the Irish identity because it is the place were they were born and it was free of the British control. The new potatoes in the poem represent the new expectation to Ireland. However, the Irish identity is not the only interpretation of poem. It is also represented the opposition between the cultural life and the life of hard work in the land. Heaney does not think he will be able to use the spade like his and his grandfather, that means he is not going to dig with a spade but he is going to dig into the historical present of Ireland with his pen which is the weapon that he uses against the British colonization. In his poem A Northern hoard he talks about the Irish Great Famine of 1845 , in which many Irish died and many other had to leave the country. In the first part of the poem we can see which is entitled Roots makes reference to the old Gomorrah which the town that was punished by God. This town was devastated for the Flood like Ireland was devastated by the plague. In these four poems the author always uses the first person narrator who gives a sense more personal of the poem. These are nuts, tree nuts, dairy, gluten, and soy. Sustenance sensitivities set in when the resistant framework erroneously recognizes protein in the nourishment as a danger to the body. Thus, your body discharges certain chemicals to avert disease. These chemicals trigger hypersensitive responses which incorporate sickness, stomach torment, exhaustion, the runs, rashes, bothersome skin, mid section torment, and unexplained weight reduction. Gluten, which is available in like manner pastries, is a blend of proteins found in grains such as wheat, grain and rye. Simultaneously, one might locate a few extra advantages that concur with obtaining from a complete allergen cognizant bread kitchen. These advantages incorporate the accompanying: 1. Hypersensitivity free sustenances enhance your digestive framework. Poor processing, gas torments and stomach issues are the absolute most regular impacts of nourishment hypersensitivities or gluten affectability. Rapid growth of business, industrialization, and monopolies, contributed to the Industrial Revolution in the United States during the Progressive Era. Following a policy of laissez faire failed to control big businesses. Although some critics may believe that the government negatively impacted businesses during the Industrial Revolution, the regulations put onto businesses positively contributed to economic growth and protected the American citizens from the big businesses. Prior to the industrial revolution in America, businesses were small, family owned, and generally did not cause many problems. At the time, the largest enterprises only employed around 50 people ( Corporations ). With only small businesses up to the 1870 s, the government was able to follow laissez faire policies. However, the Industrial Revolution grew in Europe and quickly made its way to America. Businesses rapidly began to grow and monopolies formed. The need for railroads and transportation supported the growth of industries ( Corporations ). The railroads made it easy to transport manufactured goods across the nation ( Industrial ). Robber barons, John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and J.P. Morgan, took advantage of the need for new industries and quickly began to ruin the country; their monopolies controlled everything. The formation of monopolies and trusts eliminated competition and drove prices of basic items up (Benson). Consumers began to have only one expensive option for the ... • 5. The Raven And The Scarlet Letter A common theme in the American Renaissance is breaking free from the intellectual traditions of the past. This is effectively expressed by Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne despite differences in their writing style through the stories of The Raven and The Scarlet Letter respectively. Although their writing style is different, both authors indicate that breaking free from intellectual traditions of the past is present in their writing. Both Poe and Hawthorne want to know why things happen rather than how things happen so they focus on how the mind works. As well as being gothic writers, they wanted to determine whether guilt or sin has a psychological effect. In many of the stories by both authors a path of consciousness is shown followed by the deterioration of a character s mind. As a result, characters of Hawthorne and Poe are often deranged or they simply go mad. My finger, pointed at this man, would have hurled him from his pulpit into a dungeon, thence, peradventure, to the gallows! (Hawthorne 14). Chillingworth could have easily had his revenge by having Dimmesdale hanged or thrown in prison. But instead he settles for psychological revenge that sends Dimmesdale into a guilt ridden version of himself who punishes himself emotionally and mentally which ultimately leads to his death. Frequently, Poe and Hawthorne show the struggles of human nature. Both believed that human nature was less than good therefore evil was able to take hold of someone. Thrilled ... • 9. The Properties Of Solid Sorbents Relevant On The... Sorbent characteristics This chapter discusses the properties of solid sorbents relevant to the performance and cost of CO2 capture. The chapter begins with a discussion of the solid sorbent properties that are important for CO2 capture. The discussion then broadens to include a range of factors which affect the CO2 capture process, such as the interactions between the solid sorbent and other flue gas components, sorbent attrition and degradation, and the influence of reaction kinetics. The chapter concludes with a summary of ?best estimate? characteristics of the specific solid sorbents analyzed in this work. Solid sorbent properties Solid sorbents are small porous particles which can selectively adsorb or complex with gaseous chemical species (in this case, CO2), thereby removing the species from a gas mixture. Molecules of CO2 may be held loosely by weak intermolecular forces termed ?physiosorption? or strongly via covalent bonding, termed ?chemisorption.? Generally, physiosorption occurs when the heat of adsorption is greater than approximately 40 kJ/mol of CO2 (i.e. 20 to 40 kJ/mol), while chemisorption occurs with the heats of adsorption less than 60 kJ/mole (Yang, 2003). These are rules of thumb, however, and exceptions do exist. For instance, the heat of physiosorption of CO2 in some zeolites has been reported to be as low as 210 kJ/mol CO2 (Shen, et al., 2000), with heats of chemisorption known to extend from as low as 62 kJ/mol to over 420 kJ/mol. Higher ideologies aside, I am certain that I had always possessed a predilection towards fields that involved a scientific mindset fields that required great humility along with the obvious and much needed eagerness to learn. I had great interest in the subject Heat and Mass Transfer as well, which was compulsory. 4th semester had also given me the choice of taking up the elective subject Introduction to Aircraft Industry and Aircraft Systems which I readily took up. During the summer that followed the end of third year, I was selected as a trainee in one of the best labs in the country The Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) at the Defence Research and Development Labs, Hyderabad. This was the programme that had changed my mindset for the better and gave the required direction. Apart from witnessing at a yard s length the manufacture and fabrication of parts that made the Agni missile, I learnt, what was then, a very surprising thing to me the right computational methods and simulation meant everything for the success of this nationwide defense project. This is where I grew to finally understand that mere fascination is not enough. Rather than fascinate me, I must say that my time as a trainee there had humbled me. • 11. School Lunch Essay Skipping Dessert When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every day in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to undoubtedly recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who also notice how horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same cafeterias are tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are always continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have simply changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of baked fries. Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large variety of sweet fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a catastrophe, I can understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch. Allowing the NSLP to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their children would be getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and malnutrition in the United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices. In the article School Lunches , the author discusses whether or not the government s National School Lunch Program (NSLP) should be allowed to regulate what is served in school lunches. • 12. Europe Is Nothing Without Africa Not The Other Way Around Europe is nothing without Africa not the other way around. By the early twentieth century most of Africa, excluding Ethiopia and Liberia had been colonized by European powers. Earlier between the 1870s and 1900 Africa faced many hardships from the Europeans such as imperialist aggression, conciliatory pressure, invasions from the military, prospective journeys and colonization. Although African societies put up resistance the scramble for African soil was taken by the Europeans. W.E.B Dubois declares his concept of the color line providing the dark cynical view of the worlds relationship to black civilization and its potential following the Berlin conference. The Berlin Conference was called to regulate European colonization and trade in Africa during the Imperialism period. The Fourteen countries in participation included : Belgium, Austria Hungary, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden Norway (unified from 1814 1905), Turkey, and the United States of America. During the time of the conference Africa had no only returned to being a local controlled country but an independent country at that. With Africa being easily accessed, conforming to be the central power of Europe there needed to be rules established for the involved countries dealing with each other. Therefore the Berlin conference managed to form a set of rules. With Africa being easily accessed, conforming to be the ventral power of Europe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Maxine Hong Kingston By Maxine Kong Maxine Hong Kingston prides herself on her personal strength and character, as well as the ability she developed to assert herself into a culture that is not accepting of her differences. As the daughter of Chinese immigrants living in the US, she was tasked with living a double life, straddling the line between her traditional Chinese upbringing and the environment outside of her home in 1960 s California. She was in many ways a perfectly normal and intelligent child. Through her writing she is able to describe complex interactions from her childhood, detailing her reasoning and understanding of the world. Despite this cleverness and flexibility, she begins her account by describing herself as voiceless, seemingly dumb, and explains how it was that she failed kindergarten. Through this story we get a view of how an intelligent young person might experience difficulties caused by cultural differences, a unique perspective from a first generation American. In this excerpt from Woman Warrior, Kingston recounts her experiences as a young person without a voice. Her struggle is deepened by the culturally engrained xenophobia and misogyny that existed in her diverse neighborhood, as well as pressures and extreme obstacles thrown at her by her own mother. The child whom Kingston describes goes through continuous growth in finding her own identity and strength in character, but it is clear that she still carries the fear and pain created by her uniquely difficult ... By this, he explains the role these hardships play in shaping and developing a person s character. I agree that adversity not only elicits talents, but also brings out the hidden aptitudes within a person that which they were unaware of before. Through learning experiences and observations, I have witnessed the significant outcomes that come from the result of adversities. A close friend of mine was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder called acrophobia at a very young age. Acrophobia is an intense fear of heights. She experienced multiple panic attacks while being above a certain distance, making her extremely uncomfortable and unbalanced. This caused her to be unable to go on everyday things such as playgrounds, building over two stories, and airplanes. After she was twelve, she finally decided to face her fear and overcome her acrophobia. She learned how to breathe during panic attacks in order to calm down and to not think about the negative outcomes that were what if s in her mind. Once she managed to cope and get around her anxiety, she was able to participate in gymnastics on high beams and bars. Now, she competes at a collegiate level and is highly successful. From the adversity my friend encountered, she now is aware and cognizant of her amazing talent as a gymnast, and now she also can experience the world around her through a different point of view. Overall, adversity is not always something to be avoided. Archaeologists define the word tribe as, A political group that comprises several bands or lineage groups, each with similar language and lifestyle and each occupying a distinct territory (Keim, pg. 114). For example, some kids were born in Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, and some kids were born in Trinidad and Tobago. They always eat healthy foods like salads, fruits, and vegetables but they never eat something that could weight them down like junk food. Before each game, the team performs the same warm up, they jog, they spring, they do high knees, etc. These rituals before a game never change, similar to how the Native Americans rituals never change. Drawing from different philosophers who have studied the human condition, they look at the principle of ownership in relation to one s sense of self. Aristotle claims that tangible ownership is fundamental to developing a person s character. However, in Jean Paul Sartre s view, he claims that the existence precedes the essence . Sartre is saying how there is an equal balance between tangible and intangible items, but the existence is more important than nature since man can choose what they define himself to be. I believe that the idea of ownership relates to both intangible and tangible objects to find a sense of self. It is possible for an individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Great Gatsby, we are able to see how shallow and materialistic the upper class can be. They find a sense of self through the tangible items that they possess. Tom Buchanan is an example of where he defines himself through his wealth to express how he is better than everyone. He deliberately tries to show off all of his expensive belongings, so that he can make a statement on his standard of living. However, Tom sacrifices his own moral character by finding a sense of self through his fortune. He finds no guilt when he is expressing infidelity towards his wife Daisy, but when the idea of Daisy having an affair with Gatsby transpires he becomes outraged and demands a confrontation. Although Tom is a reckless narcissist, not all individuals that possess a fortune are shallow. Looking at contemporary society, Bill Gates is a prominent figure that has an immense wealth but does not define himself through it. He donates to countless charities that develop his moral character and is viewed by his actions and not by his wealth. He finds pride through his charitable actions and is an important example of proving how different views of ownership differ from each individual to find a sense of ... The Marriage of Figaro (1786) and Don Giovanni (1787) are operas he composed with words in Italian. The Magic Flute (1791) has German words. Each of these contains arias (beautiful melodies for singers), recitative (Rapidly sung dialogue), ensembles in which several people sing at the same time, and choruses. The orchestra provides an ever changing expressive accompaniment. The drama ranges from comedy to tragedy. Mozart wrote over forty symphonies, many of which are performed today. Some originally were overtures (orchestral introductions) for operas, and last only a few minutes. His later symphonies, which are the most popular, are full length orchestral compositions that last twenty to thirty minutes. Most of them consist of four sections. Mozart s last and most famous symphony, Number 41 (1788), is nicknamed the Jupiter. Mozart composed a great amount of church music, most of it for performance at the Salzburg Cathedral. He wrote Masses and shorter pieces called motets; and he set psalms to music, especially for the afternoon or evening service. The music is beautiful and varied. It includes choral and solo parts, usually with accompaniment by organ and orchestra. Mozart s best known sacred work is the Requiem (Mass for the Dead). • 38. False Memory And False Memory A. Introduction This study was in the cognitive approach to psychology, which focuses on the way people process information. It looks at how people process the information they receive and how the treatment of this information leads to their responses. The main area of cognitive psychology being studied is memory, which refers to processes and structures involved with storing and retrieving information. The theory of reconstructive memory and false memory is the focus of the experiment. False memory is a mental experience that is mistakenly taken to be a veridical representation of an event from one s personal past (Johnson, 2001). Factors which prompt the formations of false memory are misattribution of the original source of information. One experiment which explained the theory of False Memory was conducted by Roediger McDermott in 1995. The aim of the study was to replicate James Deese s observations of false memory and find the it s existence in a free recall task. The participants were 36 undergraduate students at Rice University. The independent variable was the addition of critical lures and random words and the dependent variable was the participant s ability to recall the correct studied words. The results were calculated by finding the mean probability of recall of studied words (65), and of excluded words (.40). They concluded that categorically similar words, were recalled at the same rate as those presented. The participant s actions agreed with these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, if someone types the word OLD in all capital letters in Wingdings font, a flag, a sad face, and a thumbs down hand gesture will appear. There are endless amounts of things you could say this stands for. One being, flags are bad and they make you sad. It doesn t make a lot of sense that the creators of the Wingdings font would take the time to make the letters O, L, and D, when put together, give that message about flags. Another example that contradicts Microsoft s supposed hatred toward Jewish people is the word HAPPY. Again, if HAPPY is typed in capital letters in Wingdings font, a finger pointing down, a peace sign, two flags and the Star of Davis will appear. This word has no inside meaning, and if anything, proves that the creators are not against Jews because the word happy is a positive, and cheerful one. For the two main characters in both stories ( The Story of An Hour , and A Sorrowful Woman ) this was not the case. The stories go against societies view with marriage roles and happiness. In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, the main character (Mrs.Mallard) is a married woman. Mrs.Mallard was afflicted with a heart problem . As she spent her days in the white room, she began to develop different routines but none of them satisfied her. She was unhappy with herself until she tried once more to transform herself once again as a wife and mother. During her last attempt of being a housewife she took the time to knit two sweaters for her husband and son. The sweaters were both dull and gray as in lifeless, which is ironic towards the way the character perceived herself or surroundings. This was popular in history because women did not have much choice or option rather then stay home and cook, clean, take care of their children, etc. Both women were married but instead of appreciating their lives in a joyful perspective, they were oppressed by their living conditions. Le Morte DArthur, And Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, and the Gawain Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are important works that should be considered when studying medieval literature. They both portray the style and structure of medieval romance. They also tackle the same topic of King Arthur and his knights, as well as share the same characters of King Arthur and Sir Gawain. In order to be able to go over these works and understand them, one must understand the aspects of literature of the time. There are some aspects found in almost all literary works written in the medieval times, some of which are influenced by everyday life, problems, religion, and politics. For example, the French invasion of England, known as the Norman Conquest, greatly influenced the language of the time. At first, England was ruled by the Anglo Saxons, and used Old English in their literature, even though they did not write much. With the invasion of the French, Anglo Saxon language was not considered appropriate, and so they introduce a new easier dialect, which came to be known as Middle English. This became the language they used to write, and the act of writing itself became more abundant. Moreover, the conquest resulted in an increasing tension between England and France. This tension is apparent in many works of the time, including Le Morte d Arthur . For example, the depiction of Sir Launcelot as the greatest knight of all time in several romances. The two major types of forecasts are qualitative and quantitative. Within each of these types are multiple methods and models. Qualitative forecasts are based upon subjective data. Quantitative forecasts are derived from objective data. Both methods are not suitable for all situations and circumstances. Each has inherent strengths and weaknesses. The following are techniques of time series analysis: simple moving average, weighted moving average and simple exponential smoothing, exponential smoothing with trend, and linear regression (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). Simple Moving Average The simple moving average considers a series of data and uses past performance to predict future performance (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). It is an ongoing exercise. When new data becomes available, the oldest data is dropped from the series and forecasts are recalculated (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). Weighted Moving Average The simple moving average assigns equal weights to all periods considered (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). The weighted moving average allows the forecaster to assigns weights to each period considered (Aquilano, Chase Jacobs, 2005). The only requirement is that the cumulative weights must equal 1. This method is particularly suitable for businesses with wide seasonal variance. Simple Exponential Smoothing Simple exponential smoothing accounts for the previous period s forecasting errors in order to more accurately develop the current forecast by applying a smoothing constant or response rate (Anonymous, n. d.). He incorporates stories from Greco Roman mythology not to affirm their validity, but to reveal their commonness to society. Following Lucious transformation to an ass, he takes on a more frontal assault towards the minor religions present in the Roman Empire at the time. He not only visited Tintern Abbey, he remembered it. Wordsworth himself knows that he will always have these fond memories for the rest of his life and now, with this poem everyone who reads it will also be able to share, somewhat, what he experienced. The realism of the poem is clear to us because the iambic pentameter resembles spoken English, thus making us feel more connected to it. To My Sister is a poem dedicated to Dorothy.
