Research Based Proposal
Research Based Proposal Essay
The developed world deprives children of a basic and inalienable right: unstructured outdoor play.
Children today have substantially less access to nature, less free range, and less time for independent
play than previous generations had. This quote is from the research based paper titled, Where the Wild
Things Should Be: Healing Nature Deficit Disorder through the Schoolyard. This article touches many
aspects of how children now a days need more exposure to nature like it was on the older days.
Currently, there are many playgrounds around the United States and even more the world. This article
is trying to bring awareness to the problem of if playgrounds do not have enough nature or is too safe
then it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is arguments that playgrounds can be made too safe where they are no fun are made,
for the sake of the argument I will focus on the side that wants them really safe. This side of the
arguments believes that all schoolyards need to have rules such as to, Avoid playgrounds with non
impact absorbing surfaces, such as asphalt, concrete, grass, dirt or gravel. Recommended surface
materials include: sand, pea gravel, wood chips, mulch and shredded rubber. Rubber mats, synthetic
turf and other artificial materials are also safe surfaces and require less maintenance. Surfacing should
be at least 12 inches deep and extend at least 6 feet in all directions around stationary equipment.
Depending on the height of the equipment, surfacing may need to extend farther than 6 feet. For
swings, make sure that the surfacing extends, in the back and front, twice the height of the suspending
bar. So if the top of the swing set is 10 feet high, the surfacing should extend 20 feet. Along with all
the regulations and rules, they would hop to also have it well supervised and inspected. They say that
qualified personal need to constantly be checking up on the schoolyards and maintaining them.
Although this side may have some good reasons about children safety it still may not good

Relativism And Moral Nihilism
As the weed of secularization continues to spread its roots through the belly of western civilization, its
critical that Christians properly discern its damaging effects on our society s sexual moral compass. As
a culture, it seems what is acceptable changes every few months with little reasoning or clear logic.
Confused, disoriented, and unable to draw a straight line between wrong and right, our culture s moral
compass is spinning. We are drifting off to sea in a ship commanded by drunk captain, name Moral
Relativism.
Moral relativism, collateral damage from secularization and postmodernism, looks past Christianity s
objectivism and appeals to the culture to govern its own sexual morality. Acknowledging the failures
of past generations, it demands that we are smarter, and wiser, than our religious ancestors.
Empirically, we have grown and evolved into a superior version of our species. Even biology is
incompetent and no longer able to accurately define our sexual identities and genders. The doors are
open wide for any interpretations of sexual expressions and identities to stroll inside. Our inclusivity is
now breeding with moral relativism to create a new monster, moral nihilism.
Whereas you might have once been able to explain away how relativism and nihilism are entirely
different philosophical categories, that doesn t work now. The lines between them are now extremely
blurry; our drunk moral ship captain is unable to see where one begins and other ends. Without an
objective moral anchor, our society will be carried by every wave of worldly sinful passion. What
began as an attempt to be kind and coexist has malformed into an inclusivity that has no choice but to
allow whatever perversions may come. Without some level of sexual exclusivity, it loses meaning and
purpose; nihilism is born. We need to moral boundaries to preserve substance.
Humanity has always used exclusivity as way to maintain value and integrity. Something must be rare
for it to be of great worth. This is true for currency, jewelry, athletes, and consumer products. Its
simple supply and demand. If we have lots of something in a restrained fashion is becomes a
commodity and possess little intrinsic value. However, if an item is rare,

Ancient Greek Mythology
The Role of Mythology in the Lives of Ancient Greeks
The Ancient Greeks didn t understand many things in their lives. They wondered how the seasons
changed and what were planets and stars. All of these things were mysteries to them, and the Greeks
answered these questions through the myths of Gods and Goddesses. Ancient Greeks believed that
these Gods and Goddesses controlled the elements of nature and helped their lives for the better
through everyday activities. Their powers were used to explain all that they cannot, from everyday
work to the forces of nature. Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, home, architecture, domesticity, ...

She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Persephone, being such a beautiful and kind young woman
was wanted by many gods, Hades included. One day, when she was playing in the meadow, the Earth
opened up and Hades appeared to take Persephone. Accomplishing his task, Demeter searched the
Earth for her daughter until Hermes told her everything. It seemed that Zeus and Hermes watched the
abduction. After eating some pomegranate seeds, Persephone was to stay in the Underworld one third
of the year and return to her mother for four months. What everyone didn t know is that Zeus may
have helped plan it. Zeus one of the big three, is the god of weather and siblings of Hades and
Poseidon. Overthrowing his father, Cronus, Zeus became ruler of Olympus as well as lord of the sky.
His weapon was a thunderbolt that he would hurl at whoever defied him. Using his shield, Zeus could
create anything of nature that related to the sky. He was married to Hera, but was known for his
infamous affairs with other goddesses. One of his many affairs brought one of the most complex and
important gods: Apollo. Apollo was the god of many things including: music, art, poetry, oracles,
archery, plague, medicine, sun, light and knowledge. He was born out of an affair with the Titan
Goddess, Leto. Apollo was also known as kuoros, which means he is beardless, athletic, and youthful.
However, he is also known for many deaths with his plagues in wars. Ironically, he also represents
purity, he is able to cleanse all the blood stained on bodies. All in all, Apollo was very powerful, and
represented many things in

Millard Meiss s Painting In Florence And Siena After The...
The Black Death left more than an impact on the population of Florence and Siena in Italy, it impacted
the economy, the religious views, and the art of the thirteenth century. Millard Meiss in his book
Painting In Florence And Siena After The Black Death highlights the changes that occur in the artistic
world in Florence and Siena after the Black Death hits in 1348, 1363, and 1374. He focuses on the
similarities between the two cities and reasons behind them such as the common experience of
economic failure, pestilence, social conflict, their fear, sense of guilt, and varieties of their religious
response (P. 8).
Millard Meiss was a historian of late medieval and early Renaissance art. He went to New York
University where he studied medieval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chapter is structured to tell of the economic and political crises the cities experienced leading up
to the Black Death then moves onto the effects the plague had on culture and art. In the section about
the Black Death, Meiss used statistics of deaths in the cities to prove himself credible on the subject
but did not state the source from which he got the numbers. He also included anecdotes from survivors
such as Angolo di Tura to give a sense of imagery of the bodies piled up in the streets, piling them up
tier upon tier as merchandise is stowed in a ship (P. 65). In the section labeled The Effect Upon
Culture And Art, Meiss talks about the new opinions on art specifically about religious art, which
there was a new demand for. He explains in detail after the plague people led lives of irresponsible
pleasure. The reason Meiss talked about this consequence of the plague the most in the chapter was to
show how the people of the two cities lived each day like it was their last and became self indulgent.
He ties the conclusion of the chapter back to art and how the artists of the time transitioned into a new
movement of greater

Sex Tourism in Colombia
SEX TOURISM IN COLOMBIA Sex tourism is a business of constant upward expands, that takes
different forms as countries change their laws to combat it. The economic globalization has made this
crime a global crime , and new methods of communication , travel deals at the lowest prices and
poverty are some of the phenomena that drive those seeking to commit such crimes or trade sex go to
destinations where they can get away without any of the law fall on them. There is a great
contradiction in terms talking about sex tourism, if this trade happens between adults and with the
agreement of both sides, organizations responsible for combating it, say it is a phenomenon that can
not be measured because it is supposed to be exercised freely. although we are aware that this is not
the reality, that many people sold their body for some food, and are simply slaves of poverty and have
no other option says Debora d Aleva , a member of ECPAT ( End Child Prostitution , Pornography
And Trafficking in children for sexual ministering purposes ),an ONG organization working to
completely eliminate child abuse in tourist destinations . The profile of the sex tourist , however , it is
increasingly clear in the reports prepared by this UNICEF dependent organization. For the most part
these are young people between 30 years old, professionals who have very good management of
internet and know to perfection how to commit crimes through this media and of course love sex .

Ernest Everett Just, an African American biologist, was born on August 14, 1883 in Charleston, South

both a boy and a girl before Just was born, making Just the youngest of three children. Sadly, however,
both of his older siblings died approximately two months after he was born due to disease. His father,
Charles Just Jr. died of alcoholism when Just turned four and his widowed mother was left to care for

new title as the scientist s scientist, given to him by his colleagues. He made fairly significant
breakthroughs in specific areas of science that would include the role of environmental factors in
development; he investigated the effect of a number of variables dilute or concentrated sea water,
ultraviolet irradiation, temperature, hydration or dehydration on embryo development. He observed
the wave of negativity that sweeps over the egg cell at the onset of fertilization envelope separation,
preventing fertilization by more than one spermatozoon and correctly reasoned that it was this wave,

The Causes And Impacts Of The International Space Station
The International Space Station commonly known as the (ISS) is a large spacecraft that orbits around
Earth. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The space
station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian
Federation, the United States, and eleven Member States of the European Space Agency (Belgium,
Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United
Kingdom) worked together to build and use this space station. The space station is made of parts that
were assembled by astronauts, in space itself. NASA is using this space station to learn more about the
living and working conditions in space. These discoveries will help make it possible for them to find
out if it is feasible to send humans farther into space than ever done in the past.
Political:
The International Space Station was first considered in the waning years of the Cold War. A space
station called Mir was prepared to be launched by the Soviet Union, which went into orbit in 1986.
The United States wanted to match its rival.During his 1984 State of the Union address, President
Ronald Regan announced his plans for a U.S led project. Russia was invited to join the space station
by the United States when they decided to expand their international partnership, after the collapse of
the Soviet Union in 1993. Eugene Skolnikoff, professor emeritus of political science at the

Stroke Rehabilitation
INTRODUCTION
Stroke is an acute cerebral vascular event, which leads to problems with brain functions.
Each year, about 500,000 individuals in Europe experience stroke, which is considered the third
leading cause of death in Western countries after cardiovascular diseases and cancer
(Pendlebury, Giles, Rothwell, 2009; Sudlow Warlow, 1997). This catastrophic and often unexpected
event has a wide range of physical and psychological long term consequences on both patients and
relatives (Wolfe, 2000).
The long term effects of a stroke and the consequent form of physical and cognitive rehabilitation
depend on type, severity, and location of the occlusion. It is possible to identify two basic categories
of impairment or disabilities: motor disability, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to this new technology, patients can be evaluated through daily activities safely and without
the necessity to use real environments that of course are not always available inside the hospital. VR
assessment and rehabilitation could be more engaging and consequently more effective compared to
classic methods. Many authors have recognized the importance of VR in the field of neuropsychology
and developed protocols that surround this technology (Bohil, Alicea, Biocca, 2011; Riva,
Bacchetta, Cesa, Conti, Molinari, 2003, Rose, Brooks, Rizzo, 2005; Riva, 2009; Schultheis
Rizzo, 2001; Bohil et al., 2011; Riva, Waterworth, Waterworth, 2004; Schultheis Rizzo,
2001; Riva Gaggioli, 2009). Referring back to Tsirlin and colleagues (Tsirlin et al., 2009), the authors
highlighted three main issues described below.
The first issue concerned the need to develop an ergonomic instrument of analysis to match the
patients physical problems with the tool. Post stroke patients may suffer from postural disorders or
hemiparalysis. These patients need a wheelchair, which can limit the use of some types of
technologies. Another critical point that emerged from this review concerns

The Aspects Of Family And Juvenile Law

THE ASPECTS OF FAMILY AND JUVENILE LAW
The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned
Maya Angelou. It is proven that we all feel the safest and most comfortable when we are in our own
homes and in the presence of our family members and loved ones. We feel as if they are the ones that
protect us from the world and everything that we are scared of. It is a common belief that everyone
has a safe home and protective loved ones to go home to every night. Even if they don t live with
parents/ a parent, or the person lives in a foster home, they still have a comfortable place to call home.

I have decided to become a lawyer in the family area because I have an unconditional love for my
family and I believe that family is more important than anything. At the end of the day, when everyone
else lets us down, the only thing we have is family, so we should be able to feel comfortable and safe
around them. Also, I have seen horrible things happen to my loved ones and I want to make sure that I
can prevent it from happening to anyone else. My goal as a family lawyer is to protect as many people
as I can and make sure that they are comfortable and safe.
Family law is defined as the body of rules, practices, and beliefs that govern the home. Its policies
govern all aspects of family life from courtship and child rearing to spousal violence and inheritance.
Family law was first enacted as soon as colonists organized political communities. It didn t get as
popular as it is today until after the beginning of World War II. At this time, women had just began to
enter the workforce. However, an official category of family law emerged a few years after the
Revolution. Women found an avenue that allowed them to consider themselves independent
individuals. Since, the men were considered the bread winners and did all of the work, while the
women sat back and had no say so , they were proud to be independent.
Also, in the 1950s and

Schizophreni A Major Psychiatric Disorder
Schizophrenia is a major psychiatric disorder that can be crippiling, and is one of top 10 disabilites in
the world (Bhargav, Nagendra, Gangadhar, and Nagarathna, 2014). Schizophrenia usually effects
males in the early 20 s and women in their late 20 s. Symptoms include: delusions, hallucinations,
disorganized thinking (speech), and abnormal motor behavior (mayo clinic). Even with proper
treatment patients still experience symptoms related to their disorder. Proper medication can help with
symptoms, but sometimes this comes with cost of side effects that make a patient not even want to
take the medicine. There is also the cost of paying for a doctor, which can be quite expensive. The
initial consultation can cost up to three hundred dollars with each subsequent visit costing 100 dollars.
There is also the stigma that goes along with Schizophrenia. I m sure everyone has seen the man or
woman walking down the street talking to someone that isn t there, this person could appear quite
normal with help. Schizophrenics are ordinary people that have a disorder, and with proper treatment
can function in society. As mentioned earlier even with proper treatment individuals with
Schizophrenia still experience negative symptoms; as a result a lot of individuals with Schizophrenia
are seeking add on treatments, including myself being diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the age of 21.

My Life In The Trenches
Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved
equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all
day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific stench of the soldiers
who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the families of those lost brothers of
mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons, husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper
burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end
with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to
my brothers I have lost. I try to justify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that holding our
ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would
have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved city, Paris. Although we
know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a chance to drive those nasty
Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the sleep I longed for had eluded me as
normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost no one on our side got much sleep.
Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning
before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious,
excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no
good way to fight a battle in these trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost
surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most
treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to
retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day
during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained
if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw
fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger
on Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others,
but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us that

Wideman Vs. Limerick Essay
John Edgar Wideman s Our Time , and Patricia Nelson Limerick s Empire of Innocence , are two very
different stories about one particular theme. In these selections both authors are writing history.
Wideman is writing the history of his brother s life, and Limerick is writing the history of the old west.
Although the theme is the same, the two authors styles, methods, and writing concerns differ greatly.
In the following passage from Our Time , John is visiting his brother, Robby, in prison. While
listening to Robby s story, John begins to question the type of book this project will become:
The business of making a book together was new for both of us. Difficult. Awkward. Another book

If I don t speak I have no past. Except the nothing, the emptiness. My brother s memories are not
mine, so I have to break into the silence with my own version of the past. My words. My whistling in
the dark. His story freeing me, because it forces me to tell my own. (Wideman p. 739)
The variance between John and Robby s stories brings Wideman to the decision to write the selection
as both of the brothers recollections.
As Limerick tells the story of the old west, she explains, One skill essential to the writing of Western
American history is a capacity to deal with multiple points of view (Limerick p. 504). She explains
this through many stories, including the stories of Narcissa Whitman, the missionary sent to save the
Indian tribes, and Julia Bulette, a prostitute. Both were murdered. Narcissa by the Indian tribe she was
working with, and Julia by John Milleain of Virginia City. The Indians were looked upon as beasts,
and Milleain was praised by the respectable women of Virginia City. In perspective, and in Limericks
opinion, the Indians may not have been to blame, due to the fact that they were merely protecting
themselves from the diseases brought on by Narcissa that had already killed every infected tribe
member. Not to forget Julia Bulette s favored death just because her profession was not morally
accepted. These are the views referred to by Limerick that are often skipped over in stories

As a result, the cost of debt is 5.88% and is calculated as follows:
The cost of equity can be calculated by using the capital asset pricing model (CAPM). CAPM requires
that a market risk free rate, the market risk premium, and the beta for the company. The market risk
premium (6%) and the company beta (1.1) is given directly and can be seen in tables 2 and 3 below.
Government bonds are used for the risk free rate. Since 10 year corporate bonds are used for the cost
of debt, the 10 year Treasury Bond of 5.60% will be selected as the risk free rate. The 10 year bonds
are also a good match for the project duration, which is between 5 and 10 years. The cost of equity of
11.20% is than calculated as follows:
With the cost of debt and the cost of equity calculated, the WACC is calculated below. The cost of
debt is further discounted by one minus the tax rate since the interest paid on debt is treated as an
expense prior to being taxed.
Table 2: Interest Rates December 2006
Table 3: Company Financial Information
Using the calculated WACC and the company s hurdle rate for this project, under Bob Prescott s cost
savings and additional revenues assumption, the project s IRR is now greater than the hurdle rate.
Furthermore, the net present value (NPV), payback period and the additional value added to the
earnings per share (EPS) are shown in Table 4 below. Using just these figures, the project should be

Nietzsche Madman Allegory In The Gay Science
An Analysis of Nietzsche s Madman Allegory in The Gay Science Nietzsche s madman allegory
represents the current moral situation of society during his time a growing belief that God does not
exist, a movement away from religious values. Nietzsche does not mean literally that God has been
murdered, but because mankind created God, we also have the ability to kill God. In Nietzsche s point
of view, mankind created God by also creating a belief in God. By saying that mankind murdered
God, Nietzsche is proposing that we no longer believe in Him. With the grounding that religion
provided in the past, Nietzsche fears that mankind will be left without purpose and virtues to lead
them to do the correct thing. The light, in Nietzsche s allegory is belief in God; for this paper, light is a
focus because of the implications that follow when there is none. With no light, everything previously
known about moral beliefs and the world is overturned. Nietzsche proposes that instead of God
guiding people (because people no longer believe in Him), people can follow their own virtues, such
as courage, faith in oneself, and patience for the future. Nietzsche sets the scene for the current moral
situation of society in the beginning of his allegory: the madman in the bright morning lit a lantern and
ran around the marketplace crying incessantly, I m looking for God! (§125). The madman is distressed
because many fundamental beliefs of Christianity the belief in God and sin, repentance,

Too much risk can result in critical failure of the business and too little risk can reduce
competitiveness. Risk is the effect of uncertainty on objectives which have both positive and negative
effects. According to the ISO/IEC Guide 73, risks are the combination of the probability of an event
and its consequences which have the potential for benefits (upside) if managed effectively, or the
threat of success (downside) as a result of poor assessment and management. Risks are a central part
of any organisation s strategic management; it is suggested that the greater the risk involved, the
higher the return. However, this can only be managed by effective identification and treatment of all
perceivable risks. Risk management is a process that is supported by a set of principles and structures
that are appropriate to the organisation and its external environment and requires a balance between
the level of the risk in relation to the size, nature and complexity of the organisation.

The collapse of communism in the USSR and Central and Eastern Europe
Before we move on to our essay on to analyse The Collapse of Communism in USSR and Central and
Eastern Europe and the reasons behind its collapse, we should discuss and understand the definition of
Communism.
Communism is a social system in which all the resources, economic activities are owned by state or
country.
It is a system in which wealth is dispersed equally among the people and there is no private ownership
of the resources and wealth. The state owns and controls resources and property. Soviet model of
communism was based on these ideals, all the opposition parties were banned only who shared the
communist ideals were allowed. Complete power was into the hands of the Communist party. In 1917,
the Soviet Union witnessed the Bolshevik Revolution which overthrew the czarism and a communist
state was born. The Central and Eastern Europe nations followed USSR and adopted communism,
with their leaders directly under the command and control of the Soviet Union. Communism was
doomed from the start due to the moral weakness of human mankind and the corruption of its leaders.
The first reason which played role in the failure and collapse of communism was the fact that the
Communist party s domination was illegitimate from the beginning. Eastern European countries did
the revolution have the support of more than a minority of people, yet this minority retained absolute
control. The communist

Buddhism

Fall 2014
I. Introduction
Buddhism was started by a man named Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha ). He was born ca. 563
B.C.E. in Lumbini near the Himalayan foothills. Siddhartha Gautama was the warrior son of a king
and queen. Legend has it that at his birth an astrologer predicted he would withdraw from the temporal
life. His father, in an effort to prevent this, provided him with many luxuries and pleasures. As a
young man, he once went on a series of four chariot rides where he first saw severe forms of suffering:
old age, illness, and death (a corpse), as well as an ascetic renouncer, according to the Asia Society
(2014). The Buddha had a difficult time reconciling his life compared to human suffering and
abandoned his way of life leaving his wife and new son. He lived in the forest to the point of near
starvation. Finally, he ate some food and sat down by a tree to meditate. According to some
approximately six months later he attained Nirvana and discovered the true answers of suffering and
the release from it.
There are three basic principles of the Buddha s teachings: Sila, Samadhi, and Panna. Sila is the
development of morality. Samadhi is the tool to purify the mind on order to see its nature, how to
control it, how to develop it, and make use of it. Panna is wisdom or enlightenment the realization of
the true nature of life and universe at large.

The Shawl, By Cynthia Ozick
Between 1941 and 1945, over six million Jews were victims of the Holocaust, an attempt by the
German Nazis to exterminate the Jewish race. (Holocaust The Basics ). Adolf Hitler, the leader of
Germany, thought the Jews were the reason that Germany lost World War I (Jews in Nazi Germany
History Learning Site). Hitler blamed them for almost all of Germany s problems and he wanted to
exterminate the entire Jewish population. The Shawl , written by Cynthia Ozick, tells one of the many
horrifying stories from the Holocaust. The story has three main characters: the young mother Rosa,
her baby Magda, and her fourteen year old niece Stella. They were victims of the Holocaust who had
an awful experience in the Nazi concentration camps. Whenever the holocaust victims had to march to
different concentration camps, people who could not walk on their own in a line were shot on the spot,
including infants. Rosa protects Magda by hiding her in a magic shawl, but Stella selfishly takes away
the shawl, leading to Magda s death. Through the characters of Stella, Rosa, and Magda, Cynthia
Ozick shows the desperation and inhumanity that resulted when the Holocaust victims were denied of
their basic human rights. The Shawl is set late in World War II when the Allied forces were beginning
to penetrate into Germany itself. During the Holocaust, the Nazis denied the Jews basic human rights,
violating their rights to life, liberty, and property. Hitler said it was not enough for the Jews to

Key Tips For Start Guitar Players
So you re thinking about learning guitar? Maybe your in your first few days and can t quite get your
fingers to reach all the strings at the same time. Perhaps you are having trouble getting the rhythm you
want. Well in this article I am going to give you a few key tips for beginning guitar players that will
hopefully help you. Playing guitar is something that most people would like to be able to do. Just
about everyone likes the sound and anyone who can play, instantly becomes popular simply because
of that. Now, there are some people who are naturally gifted musicians and can pick up any instrument
and learn it. However there is hope even for those of us who are not! Anyone can learn guitar with a
little bit of discipline and practice. Which is tip number one: Practice every day! If you practice every
day, even if only ten minutes, you will very soon see results. You re fingers will begin to get callused
and not hurt when you play. They will become more limber and your rhythm will improve as well.
Keep in mind that no great musician started great. They had to learn and practice hard into order to get
to the level of playing skill that they have today. So don t expect to be there in your first week, or even
first month. Tip number two is for learning rhythm. I have found that the best way to do so is to pick
just one simple song with a simple rhythm. Then practice only that song until you have mastered the
rhythm. It may take a little while and it may be frustrating

The Nature Law of John Locke
since Sin has broke in upon the World, and vitiated the humane Nature. (John Bernard) This is the
opening line of John Bernard s speech or at least what John Locke hears as he gets to the sermon.
Massachusetts is cold, John Locke isn t surprised. He has heard things about it, the weather, the people
and now the righteous. The ground is covered in snow and the church is packed with men, women and
children; All awaiting to hear more of the words of John Bernard. He moves to take a seat or at least
find somewhere to stand. A few people share knowledge of him is their eyes and he smiles faintly, this
makes it easy for him to get to the front of the room or close to Mr. Bernard and give him a chance to
really hear and feel his words. Second Treatise on Civil Government , is his own work and has
apparently made its way over to Massachusetts. A man sees him and stands, words are exchanged and
hands are shaken and before he knows it John Locke is sitting in the front row listening to Mr. Bernard
talk. He is passionate and his words are strong, the people watching are in rapture and awe.

has more of a mind to think humans are more than weak and depraved.

Essay on Recognizing the Armenian Genocide
The Armenian Genocide, also known as the Armenian Holocaust, was the organized killing of
Armenians. While there is no clear agreement on how many Armenians lost their lives, there is general
agreement among Western scholars that over a million Armenians may have perished between 1914
and 1918. It all happened during the Ottoman Empire, present day Turkey, where 2 million Armenians
lived. The Armenian Genocide is the second most studied massacre, after the Holocaust. To date
Twenty two countries have officially recognized what happened as genocide, but Turkey to this day
rejects the events as genocide. One starts to wonder what could cause such hatred to commit such a
heinous crime, and then go to great lengths to deny the fact that it ... Show more content on

However, in 1913, an ultra nationalist group within the movement seized control of the group. This
faction was comprised of men who believed in creating a pure Turkish country that excluded non
Muslim and non Turkish people like the Christian Armenians (FACT SHEET). Two of head people of
CUP (Committee for Union and Progress) would later be responsible for initiating the mass murder.
They were Talat Pasha, and Jamal Pasha. Talat Pasha, also known as Mehmed Talat, was the minister
of interior affairs and Jamal Pasha was the Military Governor of Syria. These leaders became close
friends with Germany which in turn supplied the Turks with military support and training and in 1914,
the Ottoman Empire aligned itself with Germany and the central powers in World War I. As the war
raged on, and the Turks fought the Christian Russians, they began to worry about the Armenians. They
were worried that the Armenians would turn on them and fight on the enemy s side. Therefore CUP
decided the best thing to do is eliminate the race, wipe them off the face of the earth. The start of the
genocide started early in the year of 1915. The Turkish government starts to poke at an Armenian
massacre by publicly accusing and punishing Armenian bakers on an obviously false charge of
poisoning their bread (Genocide). By this time the Turks have also disarmed most of the Armenians
that are/were serving in the military (FACT SHEET). April 24th 1915,

Xenophobia In District 9 Essay
Exploring Xenophobia in District 9
Thirty years ago, aliens arrive on Earth, not to conquer or give aid, but to find refuge from their dying
planet. Separated from humans in a South African area called District 9, the aliens are managed by
Multi National United, which is not concerned with the aliens welfare but will do anything to master
their advanced technology. When a company field agent Wikus contracts a mysterious virus that
begins to alter his DNA, there is only one place he can hide: District 9. The film was directed by Neill
Blomkamp and starred Sharlto Copley (Wikus). It begins as a documentary style investigation and

In the movie, there are signs saying either no prawns or no humans and the humans show a major sign
of xenophobia towards the prawns. In this day in age we see a lot of hatred towards foreigners, in
particular, terrorists. In the beginning of the movie you see Blomkamp interviewing the humans about
the prawns. They show a great level of hatred and disgust for the prawns intruding on their town. In
the real world, we see this same form of hatred or disgust from certain people about the immigrants
and refugees intruding on and taking over many American s jobs. Blomkamp wants to push the issue
that there is great hatred throughout the world today. The main reason he produced the film in
Johannesburg was because there were high tensions between native south Africans and Zimbabwean
refugees. He wanted to try to make the town he grew up in great again. Blomkamp wanted to open
people s eyes with the use of science fiction to show that in some ways we treat other humans like the
humans treated the prawns.

The Eureka Stockade
The eureka stockade... It is defined by many as the beginning of Australia. This historical event has
influenced every person, in that it changed our country s legal system for the better, into the
democracy we know today. For this reason, a documentary needs to be made about the struggles and
journey that these noble diggers went through, to improve the lives of everyone.
The Gold rush that took place in Ballarat, Victoria brought with it much conflict. The Eureka stockade
was a battle between the government and the troops that took place in 1854. Although the battle took
place on December 3rd, the events that led to it, happened during that year. The outrage first started
when Governor Hotham came to power and set up weekly licence checks and increased the price of
licences in order to make money for himself and relieve the debt of the colony. Over months the
licence checks became more frequent and the police became brutal in order to collect owed fees. On
October 7th 1854 digger James Scobie was murdered and his suspected murderer James Bentley was
acquitted due to his friendship with the judge. This made the miners angrier, and on 17th October
10,000 diggers got together and burnt down the Eureka hotel in protest. With no action from
government authorities being taken to improve the conditions, the miners formed the Ballarat Reform
league at Bakery Hill. It was here on November 11th that the miners first developed the rights and
demands that they would fight for. On

1. How might one characterize or describe the architectural paint coatings industry and Jones Blair s
trade area?
Architectural paint coating industry currently does not have much that differentiates itself from other
paint markets
The US paint industry is considered to be a maturing industry. Industry sales in 2004 were estimated
to be slightly over $16 billion.
The US paint market is divided into three segments: architectural coatings (43%), original equipment
manufacturing (OEM) coatings (35%)and special purpose coatings (22%).
1 the architectural coatings are general purpose paints, varnishes, and lacquers used on residential,
commercial, and institutional structures. They are sold through wholesalers and retailers.

Which segment(s) represent opportunities for Jones Blair?
Segmentation describes the division of a population into more or less homogenous segments based on
their acceptance and buying patterns of products or services. This JB market can be broken down into
the following market segments and sub segments.
This market can be divided into two geographic areas that are DFW and non DFW. Each segment can
be divided into DIY (do it yourself) and professional.
To calculate market segments in % and in value we gathered all the information. We know that JB
sales volume is $12 million that are distributed evenly between DFW and non DFW accounts. Also,
Mr. Barrett indicates that in the survey of retail outlets 70% of sales through JB s DFW dealers went
to the professional painter while 70% of JB s sales through non DFW outlets went to DIY.
Thus, here are the results of the calculation of the market segments in % and in value.
Do it yourself Professional
DWF $ 1.8 M / 33.6M
= 5.4 % $ 4.2 M / 14.4 M
=29.2 % $ 6 M / 48 M
= 12.5 %
NON DWF $ 4.2 M / 28.8 M
=14.6 % $ 1.8 M / 3.2M
= 56.3 % $ 6 M / 32M
= 18.8 %
Total = $ 6 M / 62.4 M
= 9.6 % $ 6 M / 17.6 M
= 34 % $ 12 M / 80 M
= 15 %
According to the calculation, JB is strong in professional market with a 34% market

blending in with the backgrounds of where they are standing or sitting. Some blended into brick walls,

his bag, takes a sip and then realizes that he does not have to blend into the wall. He proceeds to take
of his clothing, which is the same color as the wall and remove the paint from his face until he is
wondering around in his underwear. He wonders around the city until he runs into this attractive
woman and he sees she has realized that same thing because her clothes are removed and she has a
Sprite in her hand. They then smile at each other and that s how the commercial ended. For this
commercial there were both good and bad comments. The positive comments talked about how cool it
was to have a camo theme for bringing out how unique everyone is and the negative, in my opinion
missed the entire message of the video and wrote about how tacky and disrespectful it was to have

Influence Of Influence On The Upbringing And Rearing Of...
The word says, Train up a child in the way they should go, and when he is old he will not depart from
it.
Proverbs 22:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
In America today the rise of violence that is being committed by children is growing daily. The
pressure that is placed upon a parent to raise children in a certain demeanor has fallen to the waste
side, and every man, woman, and child is for themselves. Outside influences play a major role in the
upbringing and rearing of children no matter what age and time they were brought up in.
Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without
them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet.
Robert Winthrop, Speaker of the U. S. House
According to Webster s Dictionary, influence is defined as the capacity to have an effect on the
character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself. Meaning you
become what you see the most and you develop the language of what you hear the most. There are
many influences that impact the way children perceive life and themselves, from TV, imitation of
others (peer pressure), drugs, anger, mental disorders, and lack of parental guidance, just to name a
few. Children today are looking to themselves and other things outside of the home to guide them or
encourage them to be who they feel they are. With the growth of technology and its major impact on

Thornton Research Paper
An increase in the production of domestic magazines, primarily aimed at women, coincided with the
stricter expectations of female behaviour. The Lady s Magazine, in which the exposé of Thornton
appeared, was the first to survive any length of time. It was issued monthly and contained news but
largely consisted of poetry, sheet music and stories. Its cost made it largely an upper class magazine,
as it was the equivalent of a full day s pay of a skilled artisan. Lower class literature too experienced a
large growth in production. Street literature, including broadsides and ballads, had long been popular
since the sixteenth century and by the early nineteenth were sold in the thousands on every city street
corner. Both had firm backgrounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the early nineteenth century, newspapers were an integral part of daily life for both men and
women. Both sexes would have read about Thornton s story in the newspaper. While it is clear that
women read newspapers, the size of the female readership remains extremely unclear . It was this
female readership that the articulators of separate spheres ideology were concerned with reaching. The
basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political life and employment was
naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was the realm of women. The
conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century was the product of fears of
societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual order became a striking metaphor .
Domestic magazines and newspapers worked to create and proliferate a baseline of acceptable
behaviour for women and offered definitions of what would be tolerated. The attempts in the print
media to reflect the model behaviour for the sexes is apparent the representations and phrasing of
Thornton s appearances, as seen in Chapter

Essay about The Mirror Neuron and its Role in Action...
Although the control of action in humans is fairly well understood, the processes that underlie action
understanding from observation are much more unclear. In general, action understanding refers to the
ability to recognize the purpose of an action performed by another person (Hickok 2008). Two
prominent theories exist to explain this phenomenon. The first posits that action understanding is an
inferential process that integrates contextual clues to determine the goal of a movement. In contrast,
the second theory asserts that action understanding arises from the simulation of the observed action in
the motor areas of the viewer (Brass et al. 2007). While the inferential process theory enjoyed a period
of general acceptance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers concluded that this indicated mirror neurons coded not just for action, but the goals of
action. Kohler and colleagues (2007) expanded on this idea, showing that some neurons were
activated with the mere sound of the result of an intended action (i.e. cracking a peanut). The authors
asserted that this indicated that mirror neurons were so tuned to goals that the sound of an action
reaching its goal was enough for the macaque to understand the entire action that would have been
involved. The results of both studies were said to apply neatly to humans as well. That is, if action
understanding is supported by the mirror neuron system of macaques, it is most likely supported by
the human mirror neuron system (hMNS). There are two major problems with this view. First, it has
been shown that human mirror neurons are much more broadly tuned than monkeys. There is not
enough evidence to generalize macaque studies to humans in this way (Hickok 2008). Second, both of
these studies fail to acknowledge that the activation of mirror neurons may have been the result, or a
byproduct, of understanding rather than the cause. Their activity, then, may only have reflected
understanding earlier in processing.
If action understanding in humans is predominantly reliant on mirror neurons, then these neurons
should respond preferentially to the ends of an action rather than the means; however, this is not the
case. Hesse and

Case Study On Stroke
1.1. Stroke:
Stroke is a common, serious and global health care problem; it s the third most common cause of
health and first cause of adult disability (12). The rehabilitation is the major part of his care (13).
Stroke is a neurological deficit caused by an acute focal injury f the central nervous system (CNS) by
a vascular cause: a cerebral infraction appears with overt symptoms or intracerebral hemorrhage with
no symptoms (10%) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (5%) (14).
The most impairment that can be regarded as a loss or limitation of function in movement or limitation
in mobility and muscle contraction, is the most common and widely recognized impairment caused by
stroke. The movement of face, arm, and leg of one side of the body are the structures affected by the
motor impairment after stroke and affected 80% of patients. Motor impairment can be caused by
ischemic or hemorrhagic injury to the motor cortex, premotor cortex, motor tracts, or associated

allows the healthy hemisphere to efficiently contribute to a uni manual motor task by the paretic arm.
The motor facilitation observed in the bilateral mode could be explained by the fact that the healthy

The Issue At Stake Is Not Population Numbers Depiction
The issue at stake is not population numbers depiction, but concerns for the quality of education for
Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is
a clarion call for excessive investment in education, and in other public services. Comparable to other
poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) argued, the poor people live entwined in
inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and
poor arrangement reinforces one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the treasured
resources of any future nation, and therefore, financing beyond their education quality would be the
ultimate investment for their development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to
ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive
attention to the marginalized children the most likely to be victims of quality education access
limitation.

Challenger Space Shuttle Disasters
During the Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster, many professional responsibilities were neglected.
First, engineers did not hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public (Ethics Code II. 1.
a.). For example, although the ice inspection team found the launch situation to be of great concern,
the launch director authorized it anyway (Texas A M University 5). At this point, professional bodies
or public authorities should have been notified.
Second, it was every engineer s responsibility to contact relevant officials on the matter. They should
have cooperate with the proper authorities in furnishing such information [and provided] assistance as
may be required (Ethics Code II. 1. f.). Third, there is an ethics violation when the recommendation to
launch is passed along without engineer support and signature. According to the Ethics Code, in
section II. 2. B., Engineers shall not affix their signatures to any plans or documents dealing with
subject matter in which they lack competence, nor to any plan or document not prepared under their

  • 2. Research Based Proposal Research Based Proposal Essay The developed world deprives children of a basic and inalienable right: unstructured outdoor play. Children today have substantially less access to nature, less free range, and less time for independent play than previous generations had. This quote is from the research based paper titled, Where the Wild Things Should Be: Healing Nature Deficit Disorder through the Schoolyard. This article touches many aspects of how children now a days need more exposure to nature like it was on the older days. Currently, there are many playgrounds around the United States and even more the world. This article is trying to bring awareness to the problem of if playgrounds do not have enough nature or is too safe then it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although there is arguments that playgrounds can be made too safe where they are no fun are made, for the sake of the argument I will focus on the side that wants them really safe. This side of the arguments believes that all schoolyards need to have rules such as to, Avoid playgrounds with non impact absorbing surfaces, such as asphalt, concrete, grass, dirt or gravel. Recommended surface materials include: sand, pea gravel, wood chips, mulch and shredded rubber. Rubber mats, synthetic turf and other artificial materials are also safe surfaces and require less maintenance. Surfacing should be at least 12 inches deep and extend at least 6 feet in all directions around stationary equipment. Depending on the height of the equipment, surfacing may need to extend farther than 6 feet. For swings, make sure that the surfacing extends, in the back and front, twice the height of the suspending bar. So if the top of the swing set is 10 feet high, the surfacing should extend 20 feet. Along with all the regulations and rules, they would hop to also have it well supervised and inspected. They say that qualified personal need to constantly be checking up on the schoolyards and maintaining them. Although this side may have some good reasons about children safety it still may not good developmentally for children if they are not interacting with nature and using their imagination to their ... • 3. Relativism And Moral Nihilism As the weed of secularization continues to spread its roots through the belly of western civilization, its critical that Christians properly discern its damaging effects on our society s sexual moral compass. As a culture, it seems what is acceptable changes every few months with little reasoning or clear logic. Confused, disoriented, and unable to draw a straight line between wrong and right, our culture s moral compass is spinning. We are drifting off to sea in a ship commanded by drunk captain, name Moral Relativism. Moral relativism, collateral damage from secularization and postmodernism, looks past Christianity s objectivism and appeals to the culture to govern its own sexual morality. Acknowledging the failures of past generations, it demands that we are smarter, and wiser, than our religious ancestors. Empirically, we have grown and evolved into a superior version of our species. Even biology is incompetent and no longer able to accurately define our sexual identities and genders. The doors are open wide for any interpretations of sexual expressions and identities to stroll inside. Our inclusivity is now breeding with moral relativism to create a new monster, moral nihilism. Whereas you might have once been able to explain away how relativism and nihilism are entirely different philosophical categories, that doesn t work now. The lines between them are now extremely blurry; our drunk moral ship captain is unable to see where one begins and other ends. Without an objective moral anchor, our society will be carried by every wave of worldly sinful passion. What began as an attempt to be kind and coexist has malformed into an inclusivity that has no choice but to allow whatever perversions may come. Without some level of sexual exclusivity, it loses meaning and purpose; nihilism is born. We need to moral boundaries to preserve substance. Humanity has always used exclusivity as way to maintain value and integrity. Something must be rare for it to be of great worth. This is true for currency, jewelry, athletes, and consumer products. Its simple supply and demand. If we have lots of something in a restrained fashion is becomes a commodity and possess little intrinsic value. However, if an item is rare, ... • 4. Ancient Greek Mythology The Role of Mythology in the Lives of Ancient Greeks The Ancient Greeks didn t understand many things in their lives. They wondered how the seasons changed and what were planets and stars. All of these things were mysteries to them, and the Greeks answered these questions through the myths of Gods and Goddesses. Ancient Greeks believed that these Gods and Goddesses controlled the elements of nature and helped their lives for the better through everyday activities. Their powers were used to explain all that they cannot, from everyday work to the forces of nature. Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, home, architecture, domesticity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Persephone, being such a beautiful and kind young woman was wanted by many gods, Hades included. One day, when she was playing in the meadow, the Earth opened up and Hades appeared to take Persephone. Accomplishing his task, Demeter searched the Earth for her daughter until Hermes told her everything. It seemed that Zeus and Hermes watched the abduction. After eating some pomegranate seeds, Persephone was to stay in the Underworld one third of the year and return to her mother for four months. What everyone didn t know is that Zeus may have helped plan it. Zeus one of the big three, is the god of weather and siblings of Hades and Poseidon. Overthrowing his father, Cronus, Zeus became ruler of Olympus as well as lord of the sky. His weapon was a thunderbolt that he would hurl at whoever defied him. Using his shield, Zeus could create anything of nature that related to the sky. He was married to Hera, but was known for his infamous affairs with other goddesses. One of his many affairs brought one of the most complex and important gods: Apollo. Apollo was the god of many things including: music, art, poetry, oracles, archery, plague, medicine, sun, light and knowledge. He was born out of an affair with the Titan Goddess, Leto. Apollo was also known as kuoros, which means he is beardless, athletic, and youthful. However, he is also known for many deaths with his plagues in wars. Ironically, he also represents purity, he is able to cleanse all the blood stained on bodies. All in all, Apollo was very powerful, and represented many things in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Millard Meiss s Painting In Florence And Siena After The... The Black Death left more than an impact on the population of Florence and Siena in Italy, it impacted the economy, the religious views, and the art of the thirteenth century. Millard Meiss in his book Painting In Florence And Siena After The Black Death highlights the changes that occur in the artistic world in Florence and Siena after the Black Death hits in 1348, 1363, and 1374. He focuses on the similarities between the two cities and reasons behind them such as the common experience of economic failure, pestilence, social conflict, their fear, sense of guilt, and varieties of their religious response (P. 8). Millard Meiss was a historian of late medieval and early Renaissance art. He went to New York University where he studied medieval ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chapter is structured to tell of the economic and political crises the cities experienced leading up to the Black Death then moves onto the effects the plague had on culture and art. In the section about the Black Death, Meiss used statistics of deaths in the cities to prove himself credible on the subject but did not state the source from which he got the numbers. He also included anecdotes from survivors such as Angolo di Tura to give a sense of imagery of the bodies piled up in the streets, piling them up tier upon tier as merchandise is stowed in a ship (P. 65). In the section labeled The Effect Upon Culture And Art, Meiss talks about the new opinions on art specifically about religious art, which there was a new demand for. He explains in detail after the plague people led lives of irresponsible pleasure. The reason Meiss talked about this consequence of the plague the most in the chapter was to show how the people of the two cities lived each day like it was their last and became self indulgent. He ties the conclusion of the chapter back to art and how the artists of the time transitioned into a new movement of greater ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The economic globalization has made this crime a global crime , and new methods of communication , travel deals at the lowest prices and poverty are some of the phenomena that drive those seeking to commit such crimes or trade sex go to destinations where they can get away without any of the law fall on them. There is a great contradiction in terms talking about sex tourism, if this trade happens between adults and with the agreement of both sides, organizations responsible for combating it, say it is a phenomenon that can not be measured because it is supposed to be exercised freely. although we are aware that this is not the reality, that many people sold their body for some food, and are simply slaves of poverty and have no other option says Debora d Aleva , a member of ECPAT ( End Child Prostitution , Pornography And Trafficking in children for sexual ministering purposes ),an ONG organization working to completely eliminate child abuse in tourist destinations . The profile of the sex tourist , however , it is increasingly clear in the reports prepared by this UNICEF dependent organization. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The space station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United States, and eleven Member States of the European Space Agency (Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) worked together to build and use this space station. The space station is made of parts that were assembled by astronauts, in space itself. NASA is using this space station to learn more about the living and working conditions in space. These discoveries will help make it possible for them to find out if it is feasible to send humans farther into space than ever done in the past. Each year, about 500,000 individuals in Europe experience stroke, which is considered the third leading cause of death in Western countries after cardiovascular diseases and cancer (Pendlebury, Giles, Rothwell, 2009; Sudlow Warlow, 1997). This catastrophic and often unexpected event has a wide range of physical and psychological long term consequences on both patients and relatives (Wolfe, 2000). The long term effects of a stroke and the consequent form of physical and cognitive rehabilitation depend on type, severity, and location of the occlusion. At the end of the day, when everyone else lets us down, the only thing we have is family, so we should be able to feel comfortable and safe around them. Also, I have seen horrible things happen to my loved ones and I want to make sure that I can prevent it from happening to anyone else. My goal as a family lawyer is to protect as many people as I can and make sure that they are comfortable and safe. Family law is defined as the body of rules, practices, and beliefs that govern the home. Its policies govern all aspects of family life from courtship and child rearing to spousal violence and inheritance. Family law was first enacted as soon as colonists organized political communities. It didn t get as popular as it is today until after the beginning of World War II. At this time, women had just began to enter the workforce. However, an official category of family law emerged a few years after the Revolution. Women found an avenue that allowed them to consider themselves independent individuals. Since, the men were considered the bread winners and did all of the work, while the women sat back and had no say so , they were proud to be independent. Also, in the 1950s and ... Schizophreni A Major Psychiatric Disorder Schizophrenia is a major psychiatric disorder that can be crippiling, and is one of top 10 disabilites in the world (Bhargav, Nagendra, Gangadhar, and Nagarathna, 2014). Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious, excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. As Limerick tells the story of the old west, she explains, One skill essential to the writing of Western American history is a capacity to deal with multiple points of view (Limerick p. 504). She explains this through many stories, including the stories of Narcissa Whitman, the missionary sent to save the Indian tribes, and Julia Bulette, a prostitute. Both were murdered. Narcissa by the Indian tribe she was working with, and Julia by John Milleain of Virginia City. The Indians were looked upon as beasts, and Milleain was praised by the respectable women of Virginia City. In perspective, and in Limericks opinion, the Indians may not have been to blame, due to the fact that they were merely protecting themselves from the diseases brought on by Narcissa that had already killed every infected tribe member. The market risk premium (6%) and the company beta (1.1) is given directly and can be seen in tables 2 and 3 below. Government bonds are used for the risk free rate. Nietzsche Madman Allegory In The Gay Science An Analysis of Nietzsche s Madman Allegory in The Gay Science Nietzsche s madman allegory represents the current moral situation of society during his time a growing belief that God does not exist, a movement away from religious values. Nietzsche does not mean literally that God has been murdered, but because mankind created God, we also have the ability to kill God. In Nietzsche s point of view, mankind created God by also creating a belief in God. By saying that mankind murdered God, Nietzsche is proposing that we no longer believe in Him. With the grounding that religion provided in the past, Nietzsche fears that mankind will be left without purpose and virtues to lead them to do the correct thing. The light, in Nietzsche s allegory is belief in God; for this paper, light is a focus because of the implications that follow when there is none. With no light, everything previously known about moral beliefs and the world is overturned. Nietzsche proposes that instead of God guiding people (because people no longer believe in Him), people can follow their own virtues, such as courage, faith in oneself, and patience for the future. Nietzsche sets the scene for the current moral situation of society in the beginning of his allegory: the madman in the bright morning lit a lantern and ran around the marketplace crying incessantly, I m looking for God! Communism is a social system in which all the resources, economic activities are owned by state or country. It is a system in which wealth is dispersed equally among the people and there is no private ownership of the resources and wealth. The state owns and controls resources and property. Soviet model of communism was based on these ideals, all the opposition parties were banned only who shared the communist ideals were allowed. Complete power was into the hands of the Communist party. In 1917, the Soviet Union witnessed the Bolshevik Revolution which overthrew the czarism and a communist state was born. The Central and Eastern Europe nations followed USSR and adopted communism, with their leaders directly under the command and control of the Soviet Union. Communism was doomed from the start due to the moral weakness of human mankind and the corruption of its leaders. He was born ca. 563 B.C.E. in Lumbini near the Himalayan foothills. Siddhartha Gautama was the warrior son of a king and queen. Legend has it that at his birth an astrologer predicted he would withdraw from the temporal life. His father, in an effort to prevent this, provided him with many luxuries and pleasures. As a young man, he once went on a series of four chariot rides where he first saw severe forms of suffering: old age, illness, and death (a corpse), as well as an ascetic renouncer, according to the Asia Society (2014). The Buddha had a difficult time reconciling his life compared to human suffering and abandoned his way of life leaving his wife and new son. He lived in the forest to the point of near starvation. Finally, he ate some food and sat down by a tree to meditate. According to some approximately six months later he attained Nirvana and discovered the true answers of suffering and the release from it. There are three basic principles of the Buddha s teachings: Sila, Samadhi, and Panna. Sila is the development of morality. Samadhi is the tool to purify the mind on order to see its nature, how to control it, how to develop it, and make use of it. Hitler blamed them for almost all of Germany s problems and he wanted to exterminate the entire Jewish population. The Shawl , written by Cynthia Ozick, tells one of the many horrifying stories from the Holocaust. The story has three main characters: the young mother Rosa, her baby Magda, and her fourteen year old niece Stella. They were victims of the Holocaust who had an awful experience in the Nazi concentration camps. Whenever the holocaust victims had to march to different concentration camps, people who could not walk on their own in a line were shot on the spot, including infants. Rosa protects Magda by hiding her in a magic shawl, but Stella selfishly takes away the shawl, leading to Magda s death. Through the characters of Stella, Rosa, and Magda, Cynthia Ozick shows the desperation and inhumanity that resulted when the Holocaust victims were denied of their basic human rights. This historical event has influenced every person, in that it changed our country s legal system for the better, into the democracy we know today. For this reason, a documentary needs to be made about the struggles and journey that these noble diggers went through, to improve the lives of everyone. The Gold rush that took place in Ballarat, Victoria brought with it much conflict. The Eureka stockade was a battle between the government and the troops that took place in 1854. Although the battle took place on December 3rd, the events that led to it, happened during that year. The outrage first started when Governor Hotham came to power and set up weekly licence checks and increased the price of licences in order to make money for himself and relieve the debt of the colony. Over months the licence checks became more frequent and the police became brutal in order to collect owed fees. On October 7th 1854 digger James Scobie was murdered and his suspected murderer James Bentley was acquitted due to his friendship with the judge. This made the miners angrier, and on 17th October 10,000 diggers got together and burnt down the Eureka hotel in protest. With no action from government authorities being taken to improve the conditions, the miners formed the Ballarat Reform league at Bakery Hill. For the commercial they hired a model that has vitiligo, Chantelle Winnie Harlow. She first made her presence in the fashion world being a contestant on Cycle 21 of America s Next Top Model. Although she did not win the contest, many people and companies loved her and found her look to be very unique. Since being on ANTM she has modeled for brands such as: Desigual, Diesel, Swarovski and has been featured in magazines such as: Glamour, Complex, Cosmopolitan and Vogue Italia. In the commercial she speaks about how her first step in trying to get her career started she had a fake it til you make it attitude and she had to exude confidence that ... After a while you start to see people, but they are blending in with the backgrounds of where they are standing or sitting. Some blended into brick walls, wall paper, buses, billboards, park benches and a variety of other things. One man pulls a Sprite out of his bag, takes a sip and then realizes that he does not have to blend into the wall. He proceeds to take of his clothing, which is the same color as the wall and remove the paint from his face until he is wondering around in his underwear. He wonders around the city until he runs into this attractive woman and he sees she has realized that same thing because her clothes are removed and she has a Sprite in her hand. They then smile at each other and that s how the commercial ended. For this commercial there were both good and bad comments. The positive comments talked about how cool it was to have a camo theme for bringing out how unique everyone is and the negative, in my opinion missed the entire message of the video and wrote about how tacky and disrespectful it was to have people removing their ... • 30. Influence Of Influence On The Upbringing And Rearing Of... The word says, Train up a child in the way they should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 New King James Version (NKJV) In America today the rise of violence that is being committed by children is growing daily. The pressure that is placed upon a parent to raise children in a certain demeanor has fallen to the waste side, and every man, woman, and child is for themselves. Outside influences play a major role in the upbringing and rearing of children no matter what age and time they were brought up in. Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet. Robert Winthrop, Speaker of the U. S. House According to Webster s Dictionary, influence is defined as the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself. Meaning you become what you see the most and you develop the language of what you hear the most. There are many influences that impact the way children perceive life and themselves, from TV, imitation of others (peer pressure), drugs, anger, mental disorders, and lack of parental guidance, just to name a few. Children today are looking to themselves and other things outside of the home to guide them or encourage them to be who they feel they are. • 31. Thornton Research Paper An increase in the production of domestic magazines, primarily aimed at women, coincided with the stricter expectations of female behaviour. The Lady s Magazine, in which the exposé of Thornton appeared, was the first to survive any length of time. It was issued monthly and contained news but largely consisted of poetry, sheet music and stories. Its cost made it largely an upper class magazine, as it was the equivalent of a full day s pay of a skilled artisan. Lower class literature too experienced a large growth in production. Street literature, including broadsides and ballads, had long been popular since the sixteenth century and by the early nineteenth were sold in the thousands on every city street corner. Both had firm backgrounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the early nineteenth century, newspapers were an integral part of daily life for both men and women. Both sexes would have read about Thornton s story in the newspaper. While it is clear that women read newspapers, the size of the female readership remains extremely unclear . It was this female readership that the articulators of separate spheres ideology were concerned with reaching. The basic premise of the separate spheres was that the public sphere of political life and employment was naturally the space of men and the domestic sphere of the home was the realm of women. The conscious articulation of this idea in the media of the nineteenth century was the product of fears of societal instability, of which the breakdown of familial and sexual order became a striking metaphor . Domestic magazines and newspapers worked to create and proliferate a baseline of acceptable behaviour for women and offered definitions of what would be tolerated. The attempts in the print media to reflect the model behaviour for the sexes is apparent the representations and phrasing of Thornton s appearances, as seen in Chapter ... • 32. Essay about The Mirror Neuron and its Role in Action... Although the control of action in humans is fairly well understood, the processes that underlie action understanding from observation are much more unclear. In general, action understanding refers to the ability to recognize the purpose of an action performed by another person (Hickok 2008). Two prominent theories exist to explain this phenomenon. The first posits that action understanding is an inferential process that integrates contextual clues to determine the goal of a movement. In contrast, the second theory asserts that action understanding arises from the simulation of the observed action in the motor areas of the viewer (Brass et al. 2007). While the inferential process theory enjoyed a period of general acceptance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researchers concluded that this indicated mirror neurons coded not just for action, but the goals of action. Kohler and colleagues (2007) expanded on this idea, showing that some neurons were activated with the mere sound of the result of an intended action (i.e. cracking a peanut). The authors asserted that this indicated that mirror neurons were so tuned to goals that the sound of an action reaching its goal was enough for the macaque to understand the entire action that would have been involved. The results of both studies were said to apply neatly to humans as well. That is, if action understanding is supported by the mirror neuron system of macaques, it is most likely supported by the human mirror neuron system (hMNS). There are two major problems with this view. First, it has been shown that human mirror neurons are much more broadly tuned than monkeys. There is not enough evidence to generalize macaque studies to humans in this way (Hickok 2008). Second, both of these studies fail to acknowledge that the activation of mirror neurons may have been the result, or a byproduct, of understanding rather than the cause. Their activity, then, may only have reflected understanding earlier in processing. If action understanding in humans is predominantly reliant on mirror neurons, then these neurons should respond preferentially to the ends of an action rather than the means; however, this is not the case. • 34. Case Study On Stroke 1.1. Stroke: Stroke is a common, serious and global health care problem; it s the third most common cause of health and first cause of adult disability (12). The rehabilitation is the major part of his care (13). Stroke is a neurological deficit caused by an acute focal injury f the central nervous system (CNS) by a vascular cause: a cerebral infraction appears with overt symptoms or intracerebral hemorrhage with no symptoms (10%) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (5%) (14). The most impairment that can be regarded as a loss or limitation of function in movement or limitation in mobility and muscle contraction, is the most common and widely recognized impairment caused by stroke. The movement of face, arm, and leg of one side of the body are the structures affected by the motor impairment after stroke and affected 80% of patients. Motor impairment can be caused by ischemic or hemorrhagic injury to the motor cortex, premotor cortex, motor tracts, or associated pathways in the cerebrum or cerebellum (15). This bi hemispheric reorganization allows the healthy hemisphere to efficiently contribute to a uni manual motor task by the paretic arm. The motor facilitation observed in the bilateral mode could be explained by the fact that the healthy hemisphere removes its inhibition upon the lesion hemisphere. Furthermore, the corticospinal fibers stemming from the healthy hemisphere, no decussated and aimed for proximal motricity, could be recruited ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Issue At Stake Is Not Population Numbers Depiction The issue at stake is not population numbers depiction, but concerns for the quality of education for Tanzanians children. Honestly, the growing number of children in Tanzania as (Woods, 2009) alerts, is a clarion call for excessive investment in education, and in other public services. Comparable to other poor countries as Jeffrey Sachs and Easterly (2006) argued, the poor people live entwined in inadequacy, in which taking to account the global abuse of children, poor wellbeing, learning, and poor arrangement reinforces one another (p. 10 ). It is incontestable that children are the treasured resources of any future nation, and therefore, financing beyond their education quality would be the ultimate investment for their development. This is to say, parents, teachers, and communities need to ensure the safety of children and monitor what they learn in classrooms, while paying a distinctive attention to the marginalized children the most likely to be victims of quality education access limitation. 1: 1: 7 Pre Colonial Education in Tanzania Before the arrival of colonial powers in Tanzania, education was informal. According to Omolewa (2007) informal education is a holistic approach, primarily part of the cultural heritage transferred to the youths through storytelling, riddles, myth, traditional songs, plays, folklore, and proverbs. Informal education is certainly effective in bringing traditional African education alive to learners (p. 593). It projected to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Challenger Space Shuttle Disasters During the Challenger Space Shuttle Disaster, many professional responsibilities were neglected. First, engineers did not hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public (Ethics Code II. 1. a.). For example, although the ice inspection team found the launch situation to be of great concern, the launch director authorized it anyway (Texas A M University 5). At this point, professional bodies or public authorities should have been notified. Second, it was every engineer s responsibility to contact relevant officials on the matter. They should have cooperate with the proper authorities in furnishing such information [and provided] assistance as may be required (Ethics Code II. 1. f.). Third, there is an ethics violation when the recommendation to launch is passed along without engineer support and signature. According to the Ethics Code, in section II. 2. B., Engineers shall not affix their signatures to any plans or documents dealing with subject matter in which they lack competence, nor to any plan or document not prepared under their direction and control.
