Mise En Scene In Mary Poppins
One of Disney s very best musicals, Mary Poppins is an unforgettable children s classic. It combines catchy
songs, the sarcastic dialogue of the unsurpassable Julie Andrews, and a plot that employs cleanly integrated
traditionally animated characters. Part fairytale, part daydream, and all magic, the sights, music, and laughs
propel this Academy Award winning picture to the top of the lists for the greatest family films ever made. By
utilizing specific techniques director, Robert Stevenson, is able to evoke certain reactions from the audience
members. Director Robert Stevenson, at the point of this movie release, had become the house director for
Disney s live action features, however, in my opinion his best photography work was in Mary ... Show more

The lighting in Mary Poppins is a three point sequence of lighting making the film bright and colorful,
making the story feel more lifelike. For example, the mise en scene in Mary Poppins the scenery, like at the
park, and photography is very cartoon like. The movie is basically played off the imagination of the two child
characters in the movie. The lighting technique contributed to the film as a whole, by allowing it to be
colorful and full of imagination just the way the writer wanted the film to become on the screen. A favorite
scene, towards the end of the movie, of mine is when the Banks family goes to the park to fly their kite as a
family. As the director shows a shot of the entire family, the Banks family is in the center of the frame. As
well, the objects that are surrounding the Banks allow for a balanced frame. The audience members feel, for
once in the film, that the Banks family has finally come together and everyone can feel the love the all have
for one another which is exactly the feeling the director wanted to evoke from the audience. Another
example, that goes in the Mise en Scene of Mary Poppins, is the proxemic patterns between Mary and Bert.
In the scene where Bert and Mary are dancing, within the chalk painting, they are within the proxemic
pattern of an intimate spacing. The director wanted to show how

Essay on Olaudah Equiano
The Horrid Journey If it were not for the stories past down from generation to generation or the
documentations in historical books, the history of the twelve million African slaves that traveled the Middle
Passage in miserable conditions would not exist. Olaudah Equiano contributes to this horrid history with The
Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano. Through this narrative, the appalling personal
experience of each slave is depicted. He accomplishes his rhetorical purpose of informing the world of the
slave experience in this narrative. His use of unique style and rhetorical devices in this conveying narrative
portray his imperative rhetorical purpose. Throughout Equiano s works, a unique style is evident. This ...

In this, however, it depicts the complex journey of the African slaves that struggled to become equal. In
addition, Equiano s use of imagery clearly depicts the journey of the Africans slaves, such as The closeness
of the place, and the heat of the climate, added to the number in the ship, which was so crowded that each
had scarcely room to turn himself, almost suffocated us (45). Through the portrayal of this vivid imagery, the
reader can feel the distress of the slaves in which they encountered the journey of the Middle Passage. He
emphasizes his emotions, ideals, and thoughts through the imagery. With the uses of this vivid imagery along
with high diction and intricate sentences, Equiano successfully attempts to inform the reader of the horrid
journey of slave transportation. However, it is not only his unique style alone that fulfils his rhetorical
purpose of depicting the appalling slave experience; in addition, his several rhetorical devices aid to do so.
Equiano s rhetorical devices which include ethos, pathos, and logos abet to define and accomplish his
rhetorical purpose. His ethos, or ethical assurance, is conveyed in his level of education portrayed by his
sentence structure and high diction. Furthermore, as proven in historical documents, Equiano was a slave
aboard one of the many slave ships. With this, the reader can accredit Equiano s narrative to be a reliable and
first hand source to the journey of the Middle Passage.

Character Analysis Of Iggy Lee In Freak The Mighty
If you have ever heard the quote Don t judge a book by its cover well, that s what everyone thought of
Maxwell Kane in the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Everyone knew him as a big kid and the
son of the most famous murderer, Kenny Kane. As the son of a murderer everyone was afraid of him, but like
I said before, don t judge a book by its cover. But everyone did that to Max, just about until Freak came along
and made people think of Max in a new way. The character Iggy Lee is first described as a Big hairy dude
with a beer gut and a bunch of blue tattoos. He has a beard that looks to be made of barbed wire. If we were
judging solely on his appearance, we might assume that he is big, mean, and bad. In fact, when we first see
him, he looks like a hairy brute. Iggy Lee also seems scary by the way He is always yelling at Loretta to shut
up. This shows that he is somewhat of a bully. However, we later see him getting All the cops in the town to
help out Max. This refutes our initial judgment by showing that Iggy Lee is a kind, caring person with an
overwhelmingly big body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The History of the Cosmological Argument for the...
Early elements of the Cosmological Argument were developed by the world renowned philosophers Plato
and Aristotle between the years 400 and 200 BC (Boeree). Medieval philosopher Saint Thomas Aquinas
expanded upon their ideas in the late 13th Century when he wrote, The Five Ways. Since then the
Cosmological Argument has become one of the most widely accepted and criticized arguments for the
existence of God. My objective in this paper is to explain why the Cosmological Argument is a reasonable
argument for the existence of God, the importance of understanding that it is an inductive a posteriori
argument, and defend my position against common opposing arguments. To begin, as living human beings on
the planet earth we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that he relies only on himself to exist. On the other hand humans and all other natural things in
the Universe are considered contingent. An impossibility would be created if this was not the case because a
non contingent contingent would be created which is contradictory and not logical (Thompson, 1955, pp. 345
346). Contrary to Saint Thomas, Theodore Schick Jr. argues in, The Big Bang Argument for the Existence of
God, which is included in our text God, that not all things are caused. He points out that research in the area
of quantum electrodynamics reveals, ...That an electron, positron, and photon occasionally emerge
spontaneously in a perfect vacuum. When this happens, the three particles exist for a brief time, and then
annihilate each other, leaving no trace behind (God, 153). Schick s argument against Saint Thomas argues is
that since research has found evidence that for a fraction of a millisecond an electron, positron, and photon
seem to appear on their own makes something in existence non contingent. This effectively debunks Saint
Thomas nearly 750 year old argument that all things in nature have a cause, right? Not necessarily. While this
finding of modern scientific research cannot yet be refuted or overlooked, inductive experience still strongly
supports the causal premise. Evidence of a cause behind all natural things still

The Restorative Justice System
Since, beginning God created the earth we have been exposed to good and bad in the world. In many bible
stories to those who disobey the law of the and was punished by God. For example, Adam and Eve, God first
creation. Adam and Eve are important because, according to the Bible, they re the first two people in the
world, and from them comes everyone who has ever lived. Adam and Eve disobey God by eating fruit from
the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This act of defiance, called The Fall by many theologians, is a
real bummer because from it comes a painful childbirth, weeds in your garden, and, ultimately, death.
Moreover, Adam and Eve s disobedience introduce fear and alienation into humankind s formerly perfect

However, in the Native American and Mennonite tribal communities they have different approaches to justice
from the modern world today. Native American they view crime as a problem which cannot be resolved on a
purely individual level (Jessica Metoui, 2007). In the Native American culture, there is a deep connection
between spirituality and justice. It is very important to maintain and restore harm in their community. The
Native American peace process is that of the same as the restorative justice because it involves bringing
together the victims, offenders, and others affected by the crime. The use of peacemaking circles for
structuring communication and decision making in many diverse cultures is probably as ancient as
humankind. Peacemaking circles are particularly integrated and used among the many indigenous tribes of
North America (Coates, Umbreit, and Vos, 2010). The Mennonites are Roman Catholics Christians that
believe God want us to always choose peace over violence. Moreover, Mennonites Bring together people

Mark Antony Research Paper
Mark Antony Bringing Out the Hero
William Shakespeare is one of the greatest English writers of time; one of his most famous plays is The
Tragedy of Julius Caesar. In the dramatic play, Caesar, the soon to be king, got brutally murdered by the
conspirators, because they were afraid he would abuse the power of king. Mark Antony a friend of Caesar,
then got a piece of power and wanted more. Through the beginning half Brutus seems like a villain, but
through the second half Antony turns out to be the wrongdoer.
The man who assembled Brutus to be a tragic hero is Mark Antony. While Brutus was loyal, Mark Antony
was anything but. In ACT III, Brutus states, not that I loved Caesar less but I loved Rome more. Although

General Aviation Aircraft Value Analysis
A value analysis of four different modes of transportation was conducted to assess which would be the most
economical by means of time and expense. Two separate trips were analyzed. The first, a relatively shorter
trip of 1200 miles round trip from Detroit Michigan to Nashville Tennessee. The second, a longer trip of
2800 round trip miles from Detroit to Miami Florida.
Three colleagues were used as a baseline for costs for all modes of transportation. The analyzed modes of

Regardless of its advantages or disadvantages, it can offer an economical way to travel during shorter trips.
As outlined below, due to lengthy staff time requirements and relatively slower travel it is not ideal for long
trips.
During both the long and the short trip, three people will be sharing one vehicle. This could offer the
opportunity to share the driving duties, have work discussion, and rest. Personal experience however shows
that it can be very challenging to work (on a laptop for example) while riding in a car. Both the trip to
Nashville and Miami by car are outlined in table 1 and table 2 below. The trip expenses also includes a
necessary stay in a hotel (for each person), per diem, staff time, and the drive to the rental car facility. The
estimated total cost of driving to Nashville was $8655, while driving to Miami was $14,844. The greatest
expense was incurred during the excessive staff time and related expenses incurred while driving.

behavior of a selected population with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The author of the article
conducts a research study on individuals suffering from the condition due to the high prevalence of the
disease in the United States. The article undertakes a qualitative and descriptive study in a bid to understand
all aspects associated with the condition and the reasons for its high prevalence. This essay will focus on
analyzing the application of Social Cognitive theory to explain the health behavior of a patient population
with the COPD condition. The Social Cognitive Theory focuses on understanding an individual s behavior,
based on their observations. In the health behavior, the theory explains that a patient may learn different
aspects of their illness considering the signs and symptoms that they may have.
The purpose of the study was to explore the individual awareness of the patients with the COPD illness and
to know whether the patients understood the different symptoms associated with the condition. The study
focused on ensuring that the patients had the ability to distinguish between acute exacerbations of the
condition from the mild symptom. It also sought to ensure that patients have the ability to recognize the
symptoms and patterns of the condition. The Social Cognitive Theory helps the researcher to explain

Shamanism In China Research Paper
An American s Shamanic Adventures in China
I was like most Americans back in 2006. I had a job, a wife and an apartment. However, unlike most
Americans, I was living in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province in Northeastern China. I found myself
sitting in my apartment participating in an underground Buddhist séance session performed by my Chinese
wife. She started out by burning incense in front of a decorative red cloth that listed all of the names of the
ancient Buddhist spirits who help her. Fruit, chicken and cigarettes are placed in ornamental bronze
containers as symbolic gifts for the spiritual visitor. The female client is solemnly attentive; her male
counterpart is skeptically condescending.

Dracula is a horror novel written in 1897 by Bram Stoker. Since the publication of this novel on May 26,

it.
Nowadays its common to know what vampires are, but back in those days when the novel was published it

The Rhetorical Analysis Of The Blackbird
The song, Blackbird, was written by the iconic British boy band The Beatles in 1968. During this time
period, the civil rights movement was on the rise and people had very conflicted views about racism and how
they should cope with it. Innocent lives were lost and people were struggling both physically and
emotionally. Blackbird s lyrics and melody gives you a taste of that struggle and pain those individuals went
through in their lives. The song is expressing about having perseverance and faith in the midst of trials that
come your way.
Therefore, the song starts itself off with a calm melody and the following lyrics, Blackbird singing in the
dead of night. With these lyrics, the listener can easily be thinking of a bird literally singing in the night.
However, when further explored in the context, there is actually more meaning to these lyrics that set the
mood for the rest of the song. For example, this particular line is actually referring to the loneliness a person
is going through in their life. Since the person is all alone in the night, singing to themselves, it is clear they
are lonely and have nobody to be around with. When The Beatles singer, Paul McCartney, sang this song he
also put a lot of emphasis on the word night. Which is why, when further explored in the lyrics, it could
represent the constant darkness the person is going through when they are trying to live their life, but cannot
escape because they have no one to help them along in their journey.

Jamie and Cameron s friendship is healthy; they have regular chats with each other. They both respect each
other. Cameron believes Jamie is not what he is said to be. Although at first, Cameron is quite careful of
Jamie due to the orders voiced by Butcher to steer clear of him. Cameron doesn t completely trust Jamie with
what he says, especially with the vandalism and how he denied those accusations. When they meet on the

Wireless Sensor Networks Is Growing Rapidly Over The Few...
1. Abstract: Wireless sensor networks is growing rapidly over the few decades. Due to its flexibility, wireless
sensor networks has been in practice in many areas. Among various wireless networks, Mobile Ad hoc
networks has been one of the unique network. Unlike other network architectures, MANETs have no central
architecture; every node is free to work both as a transmitter and receiver. Every single node can
communicate freely with every other node which is in their communication range. Otherwise, it depends on
neighboring nodes to relay messages. Due to this nature, MANETs are used in many missionary applications
like health care, military use and emergency recovery. However the wide distribution of MANETs makes it
vulnerable to malicious attacks. Hence it is necessary to design a secure system for MANETs. In this paper
we implement a secure system named Enhanced Adaptive Acknowledgement especially for MANETs. To
ensure higher security and reduce the network overhead, we use a different approach called hybrid
cryptography in our proposed scheme. Enhanced Adaptive Acknowledgment detects higher malicious
attackers without greatly disturbing the network performances. We compare the differences within the
Enhanced Adaptive Acknowledgment before and after introducing the Hybrid cryptography approach
2. Introduction: The term MANET (Mobile Ad hoc Network) refers to a wireless network composed of a set
of mobile nodes that can communicate with other nodes without using a fixed

This was mitigated in Britain by acts of parliament enacted in 1802 and later years, in other places of
industrialized Europe. Although most European nations had child labour laws by 1940, the urgency of
production during World War II brought many children back into the labour market. In the United States, the
Supreme Court declared Congressional child labour laws unconstitutional in 1918 and 1922. A constitutional
amendment was passed in Congress in1924 but it was not approved by many states. The First Labour
Standards Act of 1938 set a minimum age limit of 18 for occupations designated hazardous and 16 for
employment in general.
The International Labor Organization, or the ILO, defines child labor as some types of work done by children

The budgeting system allows the managers of each department monitor their expenses in which budgets have

The budgeting process meant that managers based their forecasts on a wider scope of information rather than
just pre book sales.
Question 3: The case says that Body Glove never prepared a budget prior to fiscal year 1991. How can a
company like Body Glove function effectively without a budget, or can it?
Body Glove had a great product with the neoprene wetsuits and had gained significant market share through
its niche fun life style image which challenged competitors. The business had a small but loyal customer
base, and had attained no.2 market share. Whilst the business had significant growth, I don t believe it ran
completely effectively. An extract from the case state mentions they lost $1 million in sales due to a shortage
of inventory and its forecasts on future sales were not accurate.

expected to vary with volume, as is the case in most standard cost centre s, the responsibility budget may be
in the form of a variable budget. Such a budget shows the planned behavior of costs at various volume levels.
If the company was able to better understand its costs, and forecasts for growth it could have made the

The Social Of Social Self
This paper will give a better understanding of The Social Self from six published resources on the studies of
Interpersonal Communications when it comes to relationships, who we are as a person, when does our social
self really began, and why is it so important in today s society.
Even though the title is the same there will be different definitions and explanations when it comes to The
Social Self. Daryl Ben (1972) Social Perception Theory, it asserts that people develop their attitudes when
there is no previous due to a lack of experience and the emotional response. Clayton Critcher and Thomas
Gilovich (2010) The Social Self, their four studies will test the connection between self perception theory and
mind wandering when it comes to attitudes and preferences. Tiffany Ito (2006) The Social Self conducted

changes in facial expression can trigger changes in emotions. George Herbert Meade (1901) The Social Self

Compare And Contrast Bartleby And Frankenstein
Naturalism, a literary movement from the 1880s to 1930s, uses detailed realism to highlight the effect of
social conditions on human character. Elements of this genre of literature accentuate the work of famous
writers: such as Herman Melville and Stephen Crane. The authors literary works highlight the lack of human
compassion by exposing their protagonists to social dilemmas. In Herman Melville s story, Bartleby , the
author encapsulates the realities that underlie human responsibility to help others in need. On the other hand,
Stephen Crane s novel, The Monster, emphasizes the struggle of a man rejected from society despite his kind
actions. Moreover, the rhetorical similarities that capture the essence of naturalism in both texts include ...

To begin with, Bartleby is the protagonist of Melville s story and he was a scrivener, the strangest [one] ever
saw (3). He looks like a cadaverously gentleman (16), yet he wasn t ordinarily humane (10). His physical
appearance symbolizes the image of someone who exhibits emotional coldness and inhuman remoteness. In
other words, he is alive but dead on the inside. Furthermore, another central symbol of the novel is the office.
In this environment, restricted relationships among employees are evident. Hence, Bartleby appears as a
prisoner of his own thoughts. He chose to isolate himself, despite having people around him. This
demonstrates the lack of personal interactions in his work environment. The narrator, the employer of
Bartleby, cares about the protagonist because he doesn t want to feel guilty. He mentions that befriend[ing]
Bartleby will cost [him] little or nothing while at the same time he can lay up in [his] soul what would prove
a sweet morsel for [his] conscience (13). Moreover, this symbol of the office captures the essence of egoism.
The narrator acts kindly towards Bartleby to soothe his conscience, not because a human being was mentally
and physically in pain. Bartleby, judged on his corpse like appearance and robotic actions, experienced
apathetic responses that demonstrate how those around him never attempted to genuinely help him.
Consequently, the lack of human compassion to help others demonstrates the inability to look consider the
emotions of an individual that is

From ‘Dream of Red Chamber’ to Explore the Marriage System
From Dream of Red Chamber to explore the marriage system in imperial China Dream of Red Chamber ,
written by Cao Xueqin in the eighteenth century, is the first Chinese novel which used a love tragedy to
convey the message of the miserable marriage life of the Chinese. It was a common practice for author to
turn a love tragedy into a happy ending instead. For example: in The palace of eternal youth , despite troubles
in the present life, the two main characters, Li Longji and Yang Yuhuan, were able to be with each other in
their future lives after death, with the help of heavenly Emperor. Since Dream of Red Chamber made such a
breakthrough in Chinese literature, this paper will focus on how he love tragedy between Jia Baoyu, Lin ...

Moreover, the fact that having offspring is ranked so high in choosing a bride can also be reflect by the seven
reasons for a man to divorce his wife to be permitted, which is recorded in Liji written by Confucius. The
seven reasons are as followed: barrenness, licentiousness, failure to serve parents in law, loquacity, theft,
jealousy and dread disease. From this, it is clear that having offspring has top priority in a marriage. Another
saying of Mencius also sum up how Chinese look at the matter of bearing offspring: There are three ways to
be unfilial; having no sons is the worst. This saying suggests that two things about having offspring. First,
just like mentioned before, the importance of having offspring in imperial China. Second, is that having
offspring seems to be a duty of a son only, hence, getting married is to fulfill the duty of a son in serving his
parents instead of to be with the love ones.
Second criterion is the social status of the bride. This is the most understandable criterion, which many of us
in the present time would still take into account when choosing partner. Back in the imperial China, most
concern would be places on the financial background. Marriage is the beginning of a new family therefore a
certain amount of money is necessary.
And the last criterion is the virtue of the bride. This is because the

Asarco Copper Refinery Case Study
Regulated by state, local, and federal authorities; the Asarco copper refinery operated for more than 110 years
and employed more than 25,000 people/worker. As time progressed, numerous supposive health hazards that
included pollution, lung cancer, lead poisoning, and exposure to dangerous chemicals such as: Zinc,
Cadmium, and Chromium, were brought upon the workers of Asarco and the community of El Paso, Texas.
Due to numerous court hearings pertaining to the subject of environmental safety, Asarco closed its doors in
1998, leaving many employees with no jobs. The company was charged a bill of $52,000 to clean up the lot

smokestack company provided to more than three hundred seventy men and served as a shelter in world war
two, but the memories of Asarco that citizens reminisce on was the hazards and sickness the company
generated (Shapleigh). Though the company impacted the city in a positive manner, the public opinion
viewed Asarco as a waste of space that can be made into something more attractive to the tourist s eye
(Muench). Taggers never even attempted to graffiti the place and citizens characterized the company to smell
like a burnt out cigar bud (Safford). The town real estate business also had no limits for the Asarco lot and
preferred it to be empty and not ruin the perfect society of the western side of El Paso and the Mt. Cristo Rey
mountain area (Muench). Asarco was not welcomed by the community after the disease and pollution it
brought upon the town. Why many prejudiced against the company is proven in an article by Christopher
Roberts, the prejudice was due to the fact that minorities were populating the city and taking jobs from the
common white man (Roberts). Speculations pointed out that those against the Copper refinery were citizens
that subsided miles away from the site, so far that it was questioned how the pollution reached their house

Children s Lit Task 1
Part A.
In the past five years, children s literature has had many common themes. Bullying has been a popular
subject of interest at all levels of reading. This trend reflects a rising concern about cyberbullying and the
sometimes dramatic effects it can have on a child s life. Writers and parents are making an effort to show
children that what they do to their peers has real consequences and to be mindful with their words and
actions. Another popular subject is dystopian futures. This interest is in part due to the success of The Hunger
Games trilogy, children have become interested in the future of their planet.
Another interesting trend in children s literature is mixing of genres, such as mixing cartoons and novels,

The Cold Equations And Tom Godwin s Of Mice And Men
Even out in space like in Tom Godwin s Cold Equations, problems can present themselves, and characters
soon figure out something significant. They open their eyes, in a way, and change because of it. The theme
that someone has to open their eyes to see the bigger picture is shown in Tom Godwin s The Cold Equations,
Morley Callaghan s All the Years of Her Life, How Far She Went by Mary Hood, and John Steinbeck s Of

Opening one s eyes to the bigger picture is shown in The Cold Equations by the teenage girl in the story. She

with, any stowaway has to be jettisoned from the ship. She did not know this, and is devastated when she

The Effects of the Berlin Confernece on Africa Essay
Africa is a large country and Europe noticed this, they wanted to capitalize on everything it had to offer.
Africa has a large quantity of natural resources including oil, diamonds, gold, iron, cobalt, uranium, copper,
bauxite, silver, petroleum and cocoa beans, but also woods and tropical fruits. Much of its natural resources
are undiscovered or barely harnessed. The Berlin Conference was Africa s undoing in more ways than one.
The colonial powers superimposed their domains on the African continent. By the time independence
returned to Africa in 1950, the realm had acquired a legacy of political fragmentation that could neither be
eliminated nor made to operate satisfactorily (Muller, 301).

Geologic History Of Boulder
Geologic History of Boulder Boulder has a complex geologic history. The lithology of each formation in
Boulder will be discussed along with the interpreted depositional environment explaining what we see in the
present day. Formation Lithology The oldest rock unit in Boulder is the Boulder Creek Granodiorite which
formed 1.7 billion years ago during the Precambrian period. This whitish grey, intrusive igneous granodiorite
is felsic intermediate in composition and has visible crystals of quartz, potassium feldspar, biotite,
hornblende and mica. The next formation seen is the Fountain Formation. Fountain Formation is a poorly
sorted conglomerate with clasts ranging from sand to cobbles. The rock is maroon to pink in color with sub
angular clasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It cooled from a felsic intermediate magma which means medium silica content. After it cooled completely,
the Boulder Creek Granodiorite was uplifted to the Earth s surface due to the tectonic forces from the
Ancestral Rockies mountain building event. This caused the granodiorite to be exposed to the surface
creating a mountain like structure which allows river to form and flow downstream. These rivers have high
energy due to gravity and are able to transport big clasts of cobble size and deposit them at the bottom of the
mountain. At the bottom of the river, the energy of the stream drops abruptly creating a poorly sorted
conglomerate. As the stream continues to flow, it carries along sand to a beach environment. Here, the Lyons
Formation is formed. Beach is an ideal environment for this formation because there a lot of sand and the
oscillatory flow of the beach created ripple marks on the Lyons sandstone. Beach is usually a windy area, so
it helps with the ripple formation and also the dry up the muddy area at the beach shore. This supports the
evidence of mudcracks that were observed in the Lyons Formation. Based on the paleocurrent data from
Morrison, CO, the wind was blowing to the East and these are the dip directions of the mudstone and
sandstone beds. From the beach environment, these sea level advanced a little bit creating a shallow marine
environment. This kind of environment supports the formation of the mudstone and sandstone where there is
slow current. The water is shallow enough for sunlight to get to the bottom for the cyanobacteria, the earliest
life on Earth, to obtain their nutrients and finally settle down in the beds forming ridge like shape on the
Lykins sandstone. With that depth of water, calcite is also able to precipitate out the water and is trapped in
the pores of the sandstone. The Entrada and

Compare And Contrast Edward Taylor And Housewifery
Religion in many cultures dictates the way you live, think, and write. The Puritans base every part of their
daily life on a stringent plan dictated by their beliefs in God. Most Puritan writers write in a very similar
style; plain poetry style, metaphorical comparing, and a very God driven writing style. However there are
two writers of this culture that stand out , the first one is Edward Taylor and his poem Housewifery and the
second is Anne Bradstreet and her poem To My Dear and Loving Husband . Out of the two previously listed
poets and their poetry Edward Taylor and Housewifery is puritanical than the other due to its religious tone,
use of apostrophe to further exemplify the religious meaning behind it, and the application and meaning of
the metaphors used. The application of certain tones set how readers will perceive the poem s meaning; so if
the tone is lighter, it can either be mentally and or spiritually enlightening, happy, and or humorous. Quotes
from the poems such as Make me, O Lord, the Spinning Wheel Complete and The Holy Word my Distaff
make for me display the poem s very religious accordance to God and Taylor s beliefs. The tone from Taylor s
poem, being very optimistic and intrinsically religious, is the polar opposite than Bradstreet s. Bradstreet s
poem tone is one of sadness written for her beloved husband to come home. Throughout her poem Bradstreet

Auteur Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
Auteur Alfred Hitchcock s suspenseful, darkly comic film, Rear Window (1954) subverts the murder mystery
genre to explore the suppressed anxieties and desires of American Individuals and communities. The film is
an allegory of their responses to changes in gender roles and domestic life in the post war era. Hitchcock s
panopticon set subjects the space of a Greenwich Village apartment building to set a point of view of its
immobilized protagonist, confined to his small apartment, where he is predilected to spectate others as a form
of escapism and an expression of control. Hitchcock challenges the idea of conservative values such as an
active male and a passive female and how Jeff uses his speculations of the performances played out on the
courtyard to distance himself from his own fears of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What emerges most clearly is that Jeff s emotional response towards the formation of an intimate relationship
is also an indicator of Jeff s skill for emotional detachment. His constant visual omnipotence of prying on
others is reflected through his passion of photography, where he prefers to be an observer of life,
hypocritically pointing out the mistakes of others by telling them to be careful than to deal with the emotional
requirements of being an active participant. Hitchcock substantiates the idea of the male gaze and the
proposal of mixing violence with male desires. This is seen throughout the film, where the camera
continually employs close up and mid shots of the characters with the intention of presenting women as
chopped up pieces of limbs, highlighting the insignificance of women under an objectifying male gaze. In
one scene when Lisa is in an argument with Jeff about her unwelcomed encumbrance, Lisa is laying on the
bed, and only the top half of her head is captured within the frame. Whilst this is happening, Jeff is leering at
Ms. Torso and comments that it must be a hard job to tackle , disregarding Lisa s assertive

family s newfound strength after her death: These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence:
the connections sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificent that happened after
I was gone. And I began to see things in a way that let me hold the world without me in it. The events my

Evaluation Of A Project On Training Curriculum Development
I. INTRODUCTION
This capstone project literature review intends among others things, to refine the research ideas, demonstrate
awareness of the current state of knowledge on training curriculum development, its limitations and how the
research fits in the context of a learning organization.
This research process makes a good starting point for the capstone project. The research uses evidence from
conceptual theories to database research literature from several learning organizations training development
methodologies. Booth, W. C., Colomb, G. G., Williams, J. M. (2008) pointed out that one good source is

A system is an interconnected set of elements that is coherently organized in a way that achieves something.
If you look at the definition closely for a minute, you can see that a system must consist of three kinds of
things: elements, interconnections and a function or purpose. (Meadows. D, 2009). Others have come up with
similar definitions of systems, including: Senge (2012) suggested that the discipline of systems thinking is
useful for seeing and understanding wholes, interrelations and change patterns. Second is roundtable theory
which is a shared leadership theory for school change. Gabriele (2002) explained that involving stakeholders
in the decision making process through shared leadership can lead to higher levels of commitment. Lastly
Argyris and Schon (1978) argued that organizational learning was critical to an organization s survival. They
argued that Double Loop learning was the most effective way of making informed decisions about the way
we design and carry out the action in achieving organization learning.

Shylock Vs Portia
In the case of Antonio v. Shylock, Shylock shall be spared of all punishment, for he is innocent of putting one
s life in danger and retracting from taking a pound of his acquaintance s flesh. Shylock shall remain
practicing Judaism and keep all of his goods for there is lots of concrete evidence backing up his case.
As Lawyer 2A presented, Portia, disguised as Doctor Bellario, is actually from Belmont rather than Venice,
which makes her an alien to the case at hand. Lawyer 1A shows us that in the text that claims Portia and
Nerissa both fake their identities saying Here is a letter; read it at your leisure./ It comes from Padua from
Bellario./ There you shall find that Portia was the doctor, Nerissa was her clerk (5.1.266 269). Being

Emergency Operations Plan
Introduction
Historically, the United States has been one of the few Western societies to be secluded from major
international conflict within domestic borders. As terrorism, a problem that seems to be borderless, natural
disasters, and unconventional warfare continue to rise the citizens of the United States have begun to see its
effects firsthand. This devastation has prompted a change in management of incidents that is affecting the
traditional roles that agencies play in response efforts to mitigate the situation. Agencies with major
responsibilities to disaster response have begun to examine other Democratic Western Countries to discuss,
as well as collaborate on possible improvements. One country that departments are creating collaborative ...

military assistance to disaster response can be used in any other ESF area. Lastly, the National Guard, which
is the first line of the military response to most incidents 7 or domestic assistance needs, can participate in
law enforcing activities. The Army and the Air Force are the only military branches that have a National
Guard component, consisting of part time force where personnel have to be called and mobilized for their
tasks 7. National Guard members are not active duty military personnel, instead these members of the armed
forces are regulated by Title 32 of the U.S. Code 7. Describing the Guardsmen as dual purpose personnel,

state control, the limits are set by state law and by the authority of the governor 7. These limits do not include
law enforcement prohibition, however once the National Guard asset is federalized, the requirements that

capability and capacity, strengthening immediate disaster response

Public Private Divide Structure The Priorities Of Human...
Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private sphere is
traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from the
outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden agenda
when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend to ignore
private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these issues are seen as
private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes a public issue. Sharbat
Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture, lacking a name and a story in the
American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve McCurry, returned searching for this young
girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He returned to publicize the violation to women s right to
education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda was to show the American people that Afghan women needed
saving from their culture and society. Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of
is what ruined these women s futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and
abused Afghan woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. At first
glance the American audience see the American troops as heroes, however, when closely analyzed a hidden

Lace Font Wigs
Today s women want style, comfort and convenience when it comes to their hair. One way to get all these
features is to wear a lace front wig. A favorite look for many of the top celebrities and with the reduced price
on the market the go to option for the average fashionista. The lace encompasses half of the front of the wig
and users can choose to part in the middle or on either side. Lace font wigs use glues and tapes to attach to
the front hairline. After the glue undergoes the drying process, the front lace portion is attached to the glued
area, which creates a secure bond to keep the wig secured on the head. It is important for the glue to be
applied properly. If not applied properly, the lace may not stay in place. Using too much glue

Loss of Innocence in Wordsworth s Nutting Essay
A Loss of Innocence in Wordsworth s Nutting A romantic poet, William Wordsworth examines the
relationship between the individual and nature. In the poem Nutting, Wordsworth focuses on the role that
innocence plays in this relationship as he describes a scene that leads to his own coming of age. Unlike many
of his other poems, which reveal the ability to experience and access nature in an innocent state, Nutting
depicts Wordsworth s inability as a young boy to fully appreciate nature, causing him to destroy it.
Addressing a young girl, most likely his sister, he writes to poem as a warning of what happens within
oneself when one does not fully appreciate nature. In his youth, the speaker is too excited by duty and too

As he heads into the forest, the speaker describes himself as tricked out in proud disguise of cast off weeds to
help with his task (9). Although dressed in cast off weeds, a costume made of someone s garbage, the boy is
proud to wear them, showing his delight in his task. When the boy reaches his chosen hazelnut tree, the
innocence of nature further provokes him and adds to his desire to reap nature s hidden treasure that his duty
already caused. When he gets to the spot, the speaker describes it as one dear nook, unvisited, where not a
broken bough drooped with its withered leaves (16 18). The word unvisited reveals the purity of the scene, an
image that is heightened by the lack of a broken bough and withered leaves, pointing to the vibrancy of the
small area. In contrast, the hazels rose tall and erect, with tempting clusters hung, a virgin scene! (19 21). The
usage of tall and erect addresses the word drooped from the previous image and further emphasizes this
vibrancy. The phrase tempting clusters hung reveals the boy s desire to collect the hazelnuts. This craving to
strip nature of its fruit is shown in the exclamation a virgin scene! . Virgin evokes the innocence of the scene,
while the sexual nature of the word suggests that the boy sees nature as something he has the power to
corrupt, a prospect which excites and entices him, shown by the exclamation

Essay On Disruption In Airline Industry
Disruption in the Airline Industry
Prepared by: Mark Lanz
City University of Seattle, IS 330, winter 2016/2017
Abstract
Keywords: hypothesis
Disruption in the Airline Industry Conceptual air carrier, Poppi, provides the framework for an analysis that
will be discussed throughout this paper in regards to disruptive technologies and their effect on the airline
industry. Baltzan (2015, p. 231) observes that disruptive technologies are a new way of doing things that
initially does not meet the needs of existing customer. Shu (2015) offers the airline industry is continually
trying to reinvent itself to attract attention and increase revenue. However, the stress and headaches
experienced by most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Uber and Airbnb, Teague s concept would absolutely offer disruption to the status quo of air travel
(Shu, 2015). The conceptual air carrier is called Poppi and they have analyzed the stress experienced by
travelers and other industry shortcomings to focus on the needs of the passenger while ignoring established
industry practices. Would these radical ideas offered by Poppi create a wake up call for the airline industry,
and particularly legacy carriers? Professor Taneja explains that most airlines acknowledge the importance of
disruptive innovation, however, their degree of reaction varies greatly from one carrier to another (Accenture,
2017). He also notes the industry is divided in their reaction to disruption with some continuing business as
usual and others completely overhauling how they do business altogether. Strategies for transformation in
dealing with each carrier s workforce, processes, and legacy systems requires the right mindset and
leveraging emerging technologies. Poppi attempts to addresses these issues while focusing on what bothers
air travelers most and changing the mindsets of major carriers to envision the future of air travel. Wilson
(2015) reports Devin Liddell, Teague s principle brand strategist, would eliminate carry on luggage and
reduce the size of overhead bins to only accommodate personal items such as computer bags and jackets.
Teague conducted boarding simulations

Essay About Teenagers
I believe the children are the future are the words of the late Whitney Houston which many heard while
growing up. Teens are changing rapidly as a result of changes in society and other changes. Few people want
to speak to teens, but cannot do so anymore because most if not all the teenagers think they are grown. The
people the teens associate themselves with or even spend time with is one the main reasons why they have
been changing. Their friends contribute greatly in the decision making aspect of their lives; they manage to
do this in numerous ways. The teens are now becoming reckless as they believe their friends are always right.
This results in them being out of control where parents and teachers are unable to steer them in the right path
or even talk to the teens. Teenagers are being involved in sexual activities and as a result, it has an impact on
their social behavior, their risk of STD s and the risk of pregnancy. Some of these teens are very innocent but
they love to follow their friends. Teenagers back in the days would be solely focused on their school work
and house work if they had any. Nowadays, it is much different. As mentioned before, society has changed,
and it has not changed for the best but the worst. Teens would never talk back to their parents at a particular
point in time, unfortunately, that is what is trending now. How is it possible to disrespect the elders? Does
that even make sense? No, it does not, but the activities that they are indulging in are causing these actions.
Teens are sexually active as they are left loose and with no guidance as these parents are afraid to speak to
their children. Any teenager would be, not knowing what the outcome would be. It can be noticed when these
teens are involved in sexual activities as their manners, morals and self esteem are gone. Little good morning
is said, but only when they feel like it or if they think it is necessary. Parents, teachers and some friends
cannot even have a conversation with them as they are ignorant and behave rambunctiously when spoken to.
These activities allow teenagers to be bold in the wrong way. Going to school with bite marks on them just to
prove a point to their friends is one of the ways in which this

Language, Power, And The Classroom Analysis
While reading chapter six from Beyond Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom, written by Mary R.
Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson, I began to realize how much we become caught up in the rules of the so
called Standard American English. It is sad because people are being judged on their dialect, which is a
representation of who people are and where they are from. I have found myself correcting people that have a
different dialect, or correcting people that say words that I have been told were not proper language, such as
the word ain t. Standard American English is something that is embedded in our brains at a young age and as
we go through school; language is something teachers are constantly correcting children on. Reading about
dialect has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I love that Harmon and Wilson states that No dialect limits its speakers ability to express complex
thoughts, to think critically, or to use a full range of linguistic functions and purpose (154 55). As a society
and as future teachers, we need to teach our students that people have different dialects, and the differences
do not make anyone less smart, or less of a person just like Harmon and Wilson explain that, Dialects are
different not deficient systems (155). Everyone wants to be treated equal and have equal opportunities;
therefore, everyone needs to be more open minded and realize that everyone has their own dialect, which
does not make them any less of an intellectual person than anyone else. Reading chapter six from Beyond
Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom, written by Mary R. Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson has open
my eyes not to base peoples language off from standard American English because everyone has a different
dialect depending on their culture. I am going to be more mindful of peoples dialect, and not be quick to
judge a person based on their language because a person s language is what makes that individual unique.
Instead, I am going to embrace the different dialects and use them as an advantage when teaching a

Essay on Understanding Hamlet s Famous Speech in...
Understanding Hamlet s Famous Speech in Shakespeare s Hamlet
Hamlet s classsic To be or not to be... (Hamlet, prince of Denmark, 3.1.57) speech really shows who he is.
Obviously Hamlet is horribly depressed. We have already seen several examples of this, but this speech gives
us a clear picture of his sadness. More importantly however, his speech shows his weakness and
indecisiveness. Hamlet is consistently melancholy, but he never really acts on it; he just kind of wallows
around, full of self pity and loathing. Finally, it gives us Hamlet s reason for not committing suicide.
Throughout the play he seems to wish for death and here we find out why he doesn t bring it on himself. This
also gives us a window into his personality. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As though he only wishes to rest and forget his troubled soul. We see here for the first time why he wants to
die. It is not that he feels there is too much pain or strife in life, but that he is tired with dealing with it and
exausted by his efforts. Hamlet says in this speech, in as plain of language as he can, that he is depressed and
wants to die. But, he has said that before. This speech gives us our first clear indication as to his reason for
craving death. More interestingly, Hamlet shows here his fundamental cowardice and fear. He has been going
on for the whole play about how terrible his life is and how much pain and suffering he has had to endure,
and he starts out the speech on this note. This is the first indication of his weakness. Hamlet it seems would
rather bemoan his troubles than solve them. He goes on and on about his crappy life but rarely, if ever, even
tries to do anything about it. Even in his desire for death he will speak but not act. He has wished for ceath at
least ten times during the play, but when it comes right down to it Hamlet is to scared to act on his desire. He
doesn t decide against suicide because of some noble realization (that life is far to precious to be wasted for
example), he is just too scared of the afterlife. Hamlet, in the play up to this point, claims to be in dire straits
but his paralyzing fear keeps him from action. He would rather suffer with

The Experience Of Niagara Falls
Have you ever heard of a place that has millions of gallons of water falling over the side of a cliff every
minute? This place is called Niagara Falls. Niagara is one of the many wonders of the world. Over the
summer, I traveled to Niagara Falls. I will never forget the experience of the falls. The experience includes
seeing the falls in the daytime, seeing Niagara in the nighttime, and how it effects some of your other senses,
getting closer to the falls by doing some activities, and learning about the falls more by seeing an exciting
movie. Niagara Falls is a beautiful place. It is extremely beautiful to look at in the daytime. It is amazing to
see millions of gallons of water tumbling over the edge. Niagara Falls is about 170 feet high, so the water
falls a long way. There is constantly water falling. When the water hits the rocks at the bottom of the falls, it
creates mist. There is a ton of mist flying out of the bottom of the falls. The whole town surrounding Niagara
is covered in mist. There is also the sight of the water splashing on the rocks. It almost looks like the water is

Niagara affects more than just eyes. You don t just see the falls, you can sense them too. There is mist
everywhere. Your hair gets puffy from all of the humidity. You can only put your hair in a pony tail or it will
stand up by itself. There is water splashing off the rocks. This effects your ears because it is very loud.
Niagara never sleeps. The water is splashing through everyday and every night. You have to get used to the
sound of water splashing or you will not be able to sleep at night. The splashing also causes water to fly
everywhere. It is not just the mist in your face. When you are standing by the bottom of the falls on the
lookout spot, you will get wet. You will get soaked, but tour guides give you raincoats so you do not end up
completely drenched in water. Niagara Falls is not just a sight, it is an

  • 2. Mise En Scene In Mary Poppins One of Disney s very best musicals, Mary Poppins is an unforgettable children s classic. It combines catchy songs, the sarcastic dialogue of the unsurpassable Julie Andrews, and a plot that employs cleanly integrated traditionally animated characters. Part fairytale, part daydream, and all magic, the sights, music, and laughs propel this Academy Award winning picture to the top of the lists for the greatest family films ever made. By utilizing specific techniques director, Robert Stevenson, is able to evoke certain reactions from the audience members. Director Robert Stevenson, at the point of this movie release, had become the house director for Disney s live action features, however, in my opinion his best photography work was in Mary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lighting in Mary Poppins is a three point sequence of lighting making the film bright and colorful, making the story feel more lifelike. For example, the mise en scene in Mary Poppins the scenery, like at the park, and photography is very cartoon like. The movie is basically played off the imagination of the two child characters in the movie. The lighting technique contributed to the film as a whole, by allowing it to be colorful and full of imagination just the way the writer wanted the film to become on the screen. A favorite scene, towards the end of the movie, of mine is when the Banks family goes to the park to fly their kite as a family. As the director shows a shot of the entire family, the Banks family is in the center of the frame. As well, the objects that are surrounding the Banks allow for a balanced frame. The audience members feel, for once in the film, that the Banks family has finally come together and everyone can feel the love the all have for one another which is exactly the feeling the director wanted to evoke from the audience. Another example, that goes in the Mise en Scene of Mary Poppins, is the proxemic patterns between Mary and Bert. In the scene where Bert and Mary are dancing, within the chalk painting, they are within the proxemic pattern of an intimate spacing. The director wanted to show how ... • 3. Essay on Olaudah Equiano The Horrid Journey If it were not for the stories past down from generation to generation or the documentations in historical books, the history of the twelve million African slaves that traveled the Middle Passage in miserable conditions would not exist. Olaudah Equiano contributes to this horrid history with The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano. Through this narrative, the appalling personal experience of each slave is depicted. He accomplishes his rhetorical purpose of informing the world of the slave experience in this narrative. His use of unique style and rhetorical devices in this conveying narrative portray his imperative rhetorical purpose. Throughout Equiano s works, a unique style is evident. This ... In addition, Equiano s use of imagery clearly depicts the journey of the Africans slaves, such as The closeness of the place, and the heat of the climate, added to the number in the ship, which was so crowded that each had scarcely room to turn himself, almost suffocated us (45). Through the portrayal of this vivid imagery, the reader can feel the distress of the slaves in which they encountered the journey of the Middle Passage. He emphasizes his emotions, ideals, and thoughts through the imagery. With the uses of this vivid imagery along with high diction and intricate sentences, Equiano successfully attempts to inform the reader of the horrid journey of slave transportation. However, it is not only his unique style alone that fulfils his rhetorical purpose of depicting the appalling slave experience; in addition, his several rhetorical devices aid to do so. Equiano s rhetorical devices which include ethos, pathos, and logos abet to define and accomplish his rhetorical purpose. His ethos, or ethical assurance, is conveyed in his level of education portrayed by his sentence structure and high diction. Furthermore, as proven in historical documents, Equiano was a slave aboard one of the many slave ships. With this, the reader can accredit Equiano s narrative to be a reliable and first hand source to the journey of the Middle Passage. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Character Analysis Of Iggy Lee In Freak The Mighty If you have ever heard the quote Don t judge a book by its cover well, that s what everyone thought of Maxwell Kane in the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Everyone knew him as a big kid and the son of the most famous murderer, Kenny Kane. As the son of a murderer everyone was afraid of him, but like I said before, don t judge a book by its cover. But everyone did that to Max, just about until Freak came along and made people think of Max in a new way. The character Iggy Lee is first described as a Big hairy dude with a beer gut and a bunch of blue tattoos. He has a beard that looks to be made of barbed wire. If we were judging solely on his appearance, we might assume that he is big, mean, and bad. In fact, when we first see him, he looks like a hairy brute. Iggy Lee also seems scary by the way He is always yelling at Loretta to shut up. This shows that he is somewhat of a bully. However, we later see him getting All the cops in the town to help out Max. This refutes our initial judgment by showing that Iggy Lee is a kind, caring person with an overwhelmingly big body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The History of the Cosmological Argument for the... Early elements of the Cosmological Argument were developed by the world renowned philosophers Plato and Aristotle between the years 400 and 200 BC (Boeree). Medieval philosopher Saint Thomas Aquinas expanded upon their ideas in the late 13th Century when he wrote, The Five Ways. Since then the Cosmological Argument has become one of the most widely accepted and criticized arguments for the existence of God. My objective in this paper is to explain why the Cosmological Argument is a reasonable argument for the existence of God, the importance of understanding that it is an inductive a posteriori argument, and defend my position against common opposing arguments. On the other hand humans and all other natural things in the Universe are considered contingent. An impossibility would be created if this was not the case because a non contingent contingent would be created which is contradictory and not logical (Thompson, 1955, pp. 345 346). Contrary to Saint Thomas, Theodore Schick Jr. argues in, The Big Bang Argument for the Existence of God, which is included in our text God, that not all things are caused. He points out that research in the area of quantum electrodynamics reveals, ...That an electron, positron, and photon occasionally emerge spontaneously in a perfect vacuum. When this happens, the three particles exist for a brief time, and then annihilate each other, leaving no trace behind (God, 153). Schick s argument against Saint Thomas argues is that since research has found evidence that for a fraction of a millisecond an electron, positron, and photon seem to appear on their own makes something in existence non contingent. This effectively debunks Saint Thomas nearly 750 year old argument that all things in nature have a cause, right? Not necessarily. While this finding of modern scientific research cannot yet be refuted or overlooked, inductive experience still strongly supports the causal premise. Native American they view crime as a problem which cannot be resolved on a purely individual level (Jessica Metoui, 2007). In the Native American culture, there is a deep connection between spirituality and justice. It is very important to maintain and restore harm in their community. The Native American peace process is that of the same as the restorative justice because it involves bringing together the victims, offenders, and others affected by the crime. The use of peacemaking circles for structuring communication and decision making in many diverse cultures is probably as ancient as humankind. • 15. The Rhetorical Analysis Of The Blackbird The song, Blackbird, was written by the iconic British boy band The Beatles in 1968. During this time period, the civil rights movement was on the rise and people had very conflicted views about racism and how they should cope with it. Innocent lives were lost and people were struggling both physically and emotionally. Blackbird s lyrics and melody gives you a taste of that struggle and pain those individuals went through in their lives. The song is expressing about having perseverance and faith in the midst of trials that come your way. Therefore, the song starts itself off with a calm melody and the following lyrics, Blackbird singing in the dead of night. With these lyrics, the listener can easily be thinking of a bird literally singing in the night. However, when further explored in the context, there is actually more meaning to these lyrics that set the mood for the rest of the song. For example, this particular line is actually referring to the loneliness a person is going through in their life. Since the person is all alone in the night, singing to themselves, it is clear they are lonely and have nobody to be around with. When The Beatles singer, Paul McCartney, sang this song he also put a lot of emphasis on the word night. Which is why, when further explored in the lyrics, it could represent the constant darkness the person is going through when they are trying to live their life, but cannot escape because they have no one to help them along in their journey. ... • 17. Wireless Sensor Networks Is Growing Rapidly Over The Few... 1. Abstract: Wireless sensor networks is growing rapidly over the few decades. Due to its flexibility, wireless sensor networks has been in practice in many areas. Among various wireless networks, Mobile Ad hoc networks has been one of the unique network. Unlike other network architectures, MANETs have no central architecture; every node is free to work both as a transmitter and receiver. Every single node can communicate freely with every other node which is in their communication range. Otherwise, it depends on neighboring nodes to relay messages. Due to this nature, MANETs are used in many missionary applications like health care, military use and emergency recovery. However the wide distribution of MANETs makes it vulnerable to malicious attacks. Hence it is necessary to design a secure system for MANETs. In this paper we implement a secure system named Enhanced Adaptive Acknowledgement especially for MANETs. To ensure higher security and reduce the network overhead, we use a different approach called hybrid cryptography in our proposed scheme. Although most European nations had child labour laws by 1940, the urgency of production during World War II brought many children back into the labour market. In the United States, the Supreme Court declared Congressional child labour laws unconstitutional in 1918 and 1922. A constitutional amendment was passed in Congress in1924 but it was not approved by many states. The First Labour Standards Act of 1938 set a minimum age limit of 18 for occupations designated hazardous and 16 for employment in general. The International Labor Organization, or the ILO, defines child labor as some types of work done by children under the age of 18. Question 3: The case says that Body Glove never prepared a budget prior to fiscal year 1991. How can a company like Body Glove function effectively without a budget, or can it? Body Glove had a great product with the neoprene wetsuits and had gained significant market share through its niche fun life style image which challenged competitors. The business had a small but loyal customer base, and had attained no.2 market share. Whilst the business had significant growth, I don t believe it ran completely effectively. An extract from the case state mentions they lost $1 million in sales due to a shortage of inventory and its forecasts on future sales were not accurate. Anthony, Hawkins amp; Merchant (2008, p.740) assert If the total costs in a responsibility budget are expected to vary with volume, as is the case in most standard cost centre s, the responsibility budget may be in the form of a variable budget. Such a budget shows the planned behavior of costs at various volume levels. Elements of this genre of literature accentuate the work of famous writers: such as Herman Melville and Stephen Crane. The authors literary works highlight the lack of human compassion by exposing their protagonists to social dilemmas. In Herman Melville s story, Bartleby , the author encapsulates the realities that underlie human responsibility to help others in need. In other words, he is alive but dead on the inside. Furthermore, another central symbol of the novel is the office. In this environment, restricted relationships among employees are evident. Hence, Bartleby appears as a prisoner of his own thoughts. He chose to isolate himself, despite having people around him. This demonstrates the lack of personal interactions in his work environment. From this, it is clear that having offspring has top priority in a marriage. Another saying of Mencius also sum up how Chinese look at the matter of bearing offspring: There are three ways to be unfilial; having no sons is the worst. This saying suggests that two things about having offspring. First, just like mentioned before, the importance of having offspring in imperial China. This whitish grey, intrusive igneous granodiorite is felsic intermediate in composition and has visible crystals of quartz, potassium feldspar, biotite, hornblende and mica. After it cooled completely, the Boulder Creek Granodiorite was uplifted to the Earth s surface due to the tectonic forces from the Ancestral Rockies mountain building event. This caused the granodiorite to be exposed to the surface creating a mountain like structure which allows river to form and flow downstream. These rivers have high energy due to gravity and are able to transport big clasts of cobble size and deposit them at the bottom of the mountain. At the bottom of the river, the energy of the stream drops abruptly creating a poorly sorted conglomerate. As the stream continues to flow, it carries along sand to a beach environment. Here, the Lyons Formation is formed. Beach is an ideal environment for this formation because there a lot of sand and the oscillatory flow of the beach created ripple marks on the Lyons sandstone. Beach is usually a windy area, so it helps with the ripple formation and also the dry up the muddy area at the beach shore. This supports the evidence of mudcracks that were observed in the Lyons Formation. Based on the paleocurrent data from Morrison, CO, the wind was blowing to the East and these are the dip directions of the mudstone and sandstone beds. From the beach environment, these sea level advanced a little bit creating a shallow marine environment. This kind of environment supports the formation of the mudstone and sandstone where there is slow current. The water is shallow enough for sunlight to get to the bottom for the cyanobacteria, the earliest life on Earth, to obtain their nutrients and finally settle down in the beds forming ridge like shape on the Lykins sandstone. The Puritans base every part of their daily life on a stringent plan dictated by their beliefs in God. Most Puritan writers write in a very similar style; plain poetry style, metaphorical comparing, and a very God driven writing style. However there are two writers of this culture that stand out , the first one is Edward Taylor and his poem Housewifery and the second is Anne Bradstreet and her poem To My Dear and Loving Husband . Out of the two previously listed poets and their poetry Edward Taylor and Housewifery is puritanical than the other due to its religious tone, use of apostrophe to further exemplify the religious meaning behind it, and the application and meaning of the metaphors used. The application of certain tones set how readers will perceive the poem s meaning; so if the tone is lighter, it can either be mentally and or spiritually enlightening, happy, and or humorous. Quotes from the poems such as Make me, O Lord, the Spinning Wheel Complete and The Holy Word my Distaff make for me display the poem s very religious accordance to God and Taylor s beliefs. The tone from Taylor s poem, being very optimistic and intrinsically religious, is the polar opposite than Bradstreet s. Hitchcock s panopticon set subjects the space of a Greenwich Village apartment building to set a point of view of its immobilized protagonist, confined to his small apartment, where he is predilected to spectate others as a form of escapism and an expression of control. Hitchcock substantiates the idea of the male gaze and the proposal of mixing violence with male desires. This is seen throughout the film, where the camera continually employs close up and mid shots of the characters with the intention of presenting women as chopped up pieces of limbs, highlighting the insignificance of women under an objectifying male gaze. If you look at the definition closely for a minute, you can see that a system must consist of three kinds of things: elements, interconnections and a function or purpose. (Meadows. D, 2009). Others have come up with similar definitions of systems, including: Senge (2012) suggested that the discipline of systems thinking is useful for seeing and understanding wholes, interrelations and change patterns. Second is roundtable theory which is a shared leadership theory for school change. Gabriele (2002) explained that involving stakeholders in the decision making process through shared leadership can lead to higher levels of commitment. Lastly Argyris and Schon (1978) argued that organizational learning was critical to an organization s survival. • 42. Emergency Operations Plan Introduction Historically, the United States has been one of the few Western societies to be secluded from major international conflict within domestic borders. As terrorism, a problem that seems to be borderless, natural disasters, and unconventional warfare continue to rise the citizens of the United States have begun to see its effects firsthand. This devastation has prompted a change in management of incidents that is affecting the traditional roles that agencies play in response efforts to mitigate the situation. Agencies with major responsibilities to disaster response have begun to examine other Democratic Western Countries to discuss, as well as collaborate on possible improvements. There are 15 ESFs focused in areas such as Transportation, Communications, Public Works and Engineering, Firefighting, Emergency Management, Mass Care, Emergency Assistance, Housing, and Human Services, just to name a few . Remembering that Active Duty resources are prohibited from enforcing civil law , military assistance to disaster response can be used in any other ESF area. Lastly, the National Guard, which is the first line of the military response to most incidents 7 or domestic assistance needs, can participate in law enforcing activities. The Army and the Air Force are the only military branches that have a National Guard component, consisting of part time force where personnel have to be called and mobilized for their tasks 7. National Guard members are not active duty military personnel, instead these members of the armed forces are regulated by Title 32 of the U.S. Code 7. Describing the Guardsmen as dual purpose personnel, another words they are both a state and federal resource. So as long as a National Guard resource is under state control, the limits are set by state law and by the authority of the governor 7. • 43. Public Private Divide Structure The Priorities Of Human... Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private sphere is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture, lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda was to show the American people that Afghan women needed saving from their culture and society. Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of is what ruined these women s futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and abused Afghan woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. At first glance the American audience see the American troops as heroes, however, when closely analyzed a hidden agenda ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A favorite look for many of the top celebrities and with the reduced price on the market the go to option for the average fashionista. The lace encompasses half of the front of the wig and users can choose to part in the middle or on either side. Lace font wigs use glues and tapes to attach to the front hairline. After the glue undergoes the drying process, the front lace portion is attached to the glued area, which creates a secure bond to keep the wig secured on the head. • 45. Loss of Innocence in Wordsworth s Nutting Essay A Loss of Innocence in Wordsworth s Nutting A romantic poet, William Wordsworth examines the relationship between the individual and nature. In the poem Nutting, Wordsworth focuses on the role that innocence plays in this relationship as he describes a scene that leads to his own coming of age. Unlike many of his other poems, which reveal the ability to experience and access nature in an innocent state, Nutting depicts Wordsworth s inability as a young boy to fully appreciate nature, causing him to destroy it. Addressing a young girl, most likely his sister, he writes to poem as a warning of what happens within oneself when one does not fully appreciate nature. In his youth, the speaker is too excited by duty and too tempted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As he heads into the forest, the speaker describes himself as tricked out in proud disguise of cast off weeds to help with his task (9). Although dressed in cast off weeds, a costume made of someone s garbage, the boy is proud to wear them, showing his delight in his task. When the boy reaches his chosen hazelnut tree, the innocence of nature further provokes him and adds to his desire to reap nature s hidden treasure that his duty already caused. When he gets to the spot, the speaker describes it as one dear nook, unvisited, where not a broken bough drooped with its withered leaves (16 18). The word unvisited reveals the purity of the scene, an image that is heightened by the lack of a broken bough and withered leaves, pointing to the vibrancy of the small area. In contrast, the hazels rose tall and erect, with tempting clusters hung, a virgin scene! (19 21). The usage of tall and erect addresses the word drooped from the previous image and further emphasizes this vibrancy. The phrase tempting clusters hung reveals the boy s desire to collect the hazelnuts. This craving to strip nature of its fruit is shown in the exclamation a virgin scene! . Virgin evokes the innocence of the scene, while the sexual nature of the word suggests that the boy sees nature as something he has the power to corrupt, a prospect which excites and entices him, shown by the exclamation ... Essay On Disruption In Airline Industry Disruption in the Airline Industry Prepared by: Mark Lanz City University of Seattle, IS 330, winter 2016/2017 Abstract Keywords: hypothesis Disruption in the Airline Industry Conceptual air carrier, Poppi, provides the framework for an analysis that will be discussed throughout this paper in regards to disruptive technologies and their effect on the airline industry. Baltzan (2015, p. 231) observes that disruptive technologies are a new way of doing things that initially does not meet the needs of existing customer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Uber and Airbnb, Teague s concept would absolutely offer disruption to the status quo of air travel (Shu, 2015). The conceptual air carrier is called Poppi and they have analyzed the stress experienced by travelers and other industry shortcomings to focus on the needs of the passenger while ignoring established industry practices. Would these radical ideas offered by Poppi create a wake up call for the airline industry, and particularly legacy carriers? Professor Taneja explains that most airlines acknowledge the importance of disruptive innovation, however, their degree of reaction varies greatly from one carrier to another (Accenture, 2017). He also notes the industry is divided in their reaction to disruption with some continuing business as usual and others completely overhauling how they do business altogether. Strategies for transformation in dealing with each carrier s workforce, processes, and legacy systems requires the right mindset and leveraging emerging technologies. Poppi attempts to addresses these issues while focusing on what bothers air travelers most and changing the mindsets of major carriers to envision the future of air travel. Wilson (2015) reports Devin Liddell, Teague s principle brand strategist, would eliminate carry on luggage and reduce the size of overhead bins to only accommodate personal items such as computer bags and jackets. • 47. Essay About Teenagers I believe the children are the future are the words of the late Whitney Houston which many heard while growing up. Teens are changing rapidly as a result of changes in society and other changes. Few people want to speak to teens, but cannot do so anymore because most if not all the teenagers think they are grown. The people the teens associate themselves with or even spend time with is one the main reasons why they have been changing. Their friends contribute greatly in the decision making aspect of their lives; they manage to do this in numerous ways. The teens are now becoming reckless as they believe their friends are always right. This results in them being out of control where parents and teachers are unable to steer them in the right path or even talk to the teens. Teenagers are being involved in sexual activities and as a result, it has an impact on their social behavior, their risk of STD s and the risk of pregnancy. Some of these teens are very innocent but they love to follow their friends. Teenagers back in the days would be solely focused on their school work and house work if they had any. Nowadays, it is much different. As mentioned before, society has changed, and it has not changed for the best but the worst. Teens would never talk back to their parents at a particular point in time, unfortunately, that is what is trending now. How is it possible to disrespect the elders? Does that even make sense? No, it does not, but the activities that they are indulging in are causing these actions. Teens are sexually active as they are left loose and with no guidance as these parents are afraid to speak to their children. Any teenager would be, not knowing what the outcome would be. It can be noticed when these teens are involved in sexual activities as their manners, morals and self esteem are gone. Little good morning is said, but only when they feel like it or if they think it is necessary. Parents, teachers and some friends cannot even have a conversation with them as they are ignorant and behave rambunctiously when spoken to. These activities allow teenagers to be bold in the wrong way. Going to school with bite marks on them just to prove a point to their friends is one of the ways in which this ... • 48. Language, Power, And The Classroom Analysis While reading chapter six from Beyond Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom, written by Mary R. Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson, I began to realize how much we become caught up in the rules of the so called Standard American English. It is sad because people are being judged on their dialect, which is a representation of who people are and where they are from. I have found myself correcting people that have a different dialect, or correcting people that say words that I have been told were not proper language, such as the word ain t. Standard American English is something that is embedded in our brains at a young age and as we go through school; language is something teachers are constantly correcting children on. Reading about dialect has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, I love that Harmon and Wilson states that No dialect limits its speakers ability to express complex thoughts, to think critically, or to use a full range of linguistic functions and purpose (154 55). As a society and as future teachers, we need to teach our students that people have different dialects, and the differences do not make anyone less smart, or less of a person just like Harmon and Wilson explain that, Dialects are different not deficient systems (155). Everyone wants to be treated equal and have equal opportunities; therefore, everyone needs to be more open minded and realize that everyone has their own dialect, which does not make them any less of an intellectual person than anyone else. Reading chapter six from Beyond Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom, written by Mary R. Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson has open my eyes not to base peoples language off from standard American English because everyone has a different dialect depending on their culture. I am going to be more mindful of peoples dialect, and not be quick to judge a person based on their language because a person s language is what makes that individual unique. Instead, I am going to embrace the different dialects and use them as an advantage when teaching a classroom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Essay on Understanding Hamlet s Famous Speech in... Understanding Hamlet s Famous Speech in Shakespeare s Hamlet Hamlet s classsic To be or not to be... (Hamlet, prince of Denmark, 3.1.57) speech really shows who he is. Obviously Hamlet is horribly depressed. We have already seen several examples of this, but this speech gives us a clear picture of his sadness. More importantly however, his speech shows his weakness and indecisiveness. Hamlet is consistently melancholy, but he never really acts on it; he just kind of wallows around, full of self pity and loathing. Finally, it gives us Hamlet s reason for not committing suicide. Throughout the play he seems to wish for death and here we find out why he doesn t bring it on himself. This also gives us a window into his personality. This ... It is not that he feels there is too much pain or strife in life, but that he is tired with dealing with it and exausted by his efforts. Hamlet says in this speech, in as plain of language as he can, that he is depressed and wants to die. But, he has said that before. This speech gives us our first clear indication as to his reason for craving death. More interestingly, Hamlet shows here his fundamental cowardice and fear. He has been going on for the whole play about how terrible his life is and how much pain and suffering he has had to endure, and he starts out the speech on this note. This is the first indication of his weakness. Hamlet it seems would rather bemoan his troubles than solve them. He goes on and on about his crappy life but rarely, if ever, even tries to do anything about it. Even in his desire for death he will speak but not act. He has wished for ceath at least ten times during the play, but when it comes right down to it Hamlet is to scared to act on his desire. He doesn t decide against suicide because of some noble realization (that life is far to precious to be wasted for example), he is just too scared of the afterlife. Hamlet, in the play up to this point, claims to be in dire straits but his paralyzing fear keeps him from action. He would rather suffer with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
