What are Notification Preferences?
● Notification preferences allow users to control how they
receive updates and alerts within Odoo 17.
● We can choose the types of notifications we want to receive,
the method of delivery (email, pop-up, etc.), and the
frequency.
● This level of control helps users stay informed without being
overwhelmed by unnecessary notifications.
● Odoo offers various notification types, including:
○ Email Notifications: Updates are sent directly to our
email address.
○ Chat Notifications: Updates are delivered through
the Odoo Discuss chat platform.

Email Notification
To enable the email notification go to the Setting >> Users &
Companies >> Users. Open the user, under preferences tab you
could see the option to set the notification.

After selecting the notification option as ‘Handle By Emails’, set an
email for the employee and try sending a message through the
discuss module.

The employee will be notified through his mail.

To enable the chat notification go to the Setting >> Users &
Companies >> Users. Open the user, under preferences tab we
could see the option to set the notification.

Login as the Employee and we could see the notification in the
chat.
