Excalibur Movie Essay
Movies can be an incredible source for learning about a topic you re studying. After studying Arthur it
was very interesting to be able to have to opportunity to watch the movie Excalibur. By watching the
movie after you study about King Arthur it allows you to make connections and further your
knowledge about the story. In the movie, Excalibur, there I had three favorite scenes that I thoroughly
enjoyed. To begin, in the movie, Excalibur, I enjoyed the scene where Arthur pulls the sword out of
the stone. When Arthur s father is fighting for his last breath after his final fight he decides that no one
should be crowned king unless they are able to pull excalibur (his sword) out of the stone he thrusts it
into. In the scene that is my favorite,

If someone in your family is graduation from high school or college soon, make sure that you
celebrate this achievement with a graduation party. A large part of a great graduation party is creating
the right ambiance. Choose one of the great ideas below for your graduation table decorations.
Chalkboard Easels
At each table, you can set up a chalkboard easel. You can purchase mini chalkboard easels at your
local craft store.
In order to make the chalkboard easels more festive, you can attach a mini diploma to each easel. All
you need to do is purchase a roll of parchment paper. Take the parchment paper and roll it up. Tie the
parchment paper with a ribbon in the school colors of your graduate, and tie it onto the easel.

In order to stay with the graduation theme, purchase scrapbook paper in the school colors of your
graduate. If your graduate s school colors are darker, you can purchase cream colored paper to write
on. Take the cards and cut them out into card like shapes; if you have craft scissors that cut in fun
patterns, this is a great time to use them. If your graduate s colors are too dark to write on, cut out a
slightly smaller square and glue the lighter colored paper in the middle.
Once you have the cards assembled, use your most colorful pens and best handwriting to fill each card
up with one thing that your graduate has accomplished over the past four years. When you have filled
up all the cards, stick them on the photo holders and place them on the tables.
In order to make your table decorations a little more interactive, you can leave blank cards as well as
pens each table for guests to write down either an accomplishment they remember that your graduate
has achieved or a memory that they have with your graduate.
In order to make your table decorations for your graduation party both fun and interactive, choose one
of the two ideas listed above, or use both ideas at your party. The key is to keep the focus on the
person who you are celebrating, and make sure that the event is fun for

MCI Case Analysis Essay
MCI Case Analysis
INTRODUCTION
MCI is at a critical point in their company history. After going public in 1972 they experienced several
years of operating losses. Then in 1974 the FCC ordered MCI s largest competitor AT T to supply
interconnection to MCI and the rest of the long distance market. With a more even playing field the
opportunities to increase market share and revenue were significant. In order to maximize this
opportunity MCI required capital. Their poor financial performance required them to use less
traditional instruments to obtain financing. The capital acquired supported their growth until they
reached a level of profitability in 1978. Subsequently they continued to increase their net income and

Essentially, MCI relied heavily on convertible debt. As their stock price rose, the debt was converted
to equity. Jeremy Stein (1992) states that a good firm will use convertibles because the firm s true
value will be made known before the debt is due . Following Stein s observations, Jen, Choi, and Lee
(1997) conclude that convertible bond financing is an attractive alternative for companies that have
large growth potential but find both conventional debt and equity financing very costly . MCI clearly
had a vision for substantial growth. The MCI management saw an opportunity for financing that
would result in issuing equity and leave the possibility open to acquiring more debt in the future, if
needed.
The advantage to choosing a convertible bond for financing is that they provide issuers with ‘cheap
debt and allow them to sell equity at a premium over current value . Jen, Choi, Lee (1997).

The Super Hero In Fearless By Eric Blehm
When the word hero comes to mind people usually think of some super hero that they read about in a
book or saw in a movie, but the literal definition of a hero is a person who is admired for their
courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Fearless by Eric Blehm contains many
examples of real life heroes. Adam Brown is undoubtedly the main hero in Blehm s novel, but other
members of the Brown family also displayed many notable heroic qualities.
The main hero in Fearless was Adam Brown. Adam was born on February 5, 1974, in Hot Springs,
Arkansas. When he was a child, he enjoyed playing football and spending time with his friends and
family. As he grew older, Adam became friends with the wrong crowd, and he began to make poor life
choices. Fearless is the story of how Adam overcame his demons in life and became an amazing father
and a well known hero.
Adam struggled with a drug addiction early in life. Drugs totally destroyed him, and his relationship
with his family. He was no longer the son that Larry and Janice Brown raised. After Adam met Kelley,
he started to make an effort to turn his life around. Adam became a totally different person. He became
someone that the world could admire and look up to.
Many soldiers die every single day, and their story never gets told. The question is what makes Adam
s story so different and worth sharing. It could have something to do with Adam s unique personality.
After he turned his life around, Adam became a

Who Are The Most Important Actors Of The Global Political...
Who are the most important actors in the global political economy and Why?

Unequal relationship of society is basis of
Introduction/thesis statements:
Global Political Economy is essentially a study of a political battle between the winners and losers of
global economic exchange. In fact, understanding global economy relies on a clear knowledge of the
process of political competition. Political power possessed by actors regulates economic activity and
in turn this creates the basis for and affects political power. Through, critical analysis of the concept of
global political economy it becomes clear that there are three prominent theories that form GPE,
mercantilism, economic liberalism and Marxism.
At this point in time, the main actors in the international system are nation states seeking an agenda of
their own based on personal gain and national interest. Significantly, the most important actor is the
United States, a liberal international economy, appointed its power after the interwar period becoming
the dominant economy and in turn attained the position of hegemonic stability in the international
system. The reason why the United States is dominating is imbedded in their intrinsic desire to
continuously strive for their own national interest both political and economic. Further, there are other
nature of actors that are not just nation states, including non states or transnational,

The Beat Generation Subculture Essay
The Beat Generation Subculture
Every generation has its middle class, majority, and norm, which are decided by that era s standards of
behavior and thought. Similarly, each generation has a group that rejects these standards and rebels
against the norm. In the 1950 s a group of American writers that exemplified this behavior formed.
They were called the beat generation. The beat generation was particularly remarkable because
although it was began by an exceptionally small group of people, its cultural influence was enormous.
The beats rebelled against things like conformity and consumerism in the post World War II society.
Their writing challenged both traditional American values and contemporary writing styles.
Incorporating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many writers in the group later renounced the term when they felt it lost its meaning. It took the beats
a long time before they gained fame however. Jack Kerouac s novel, On the Road, went through many
different publishers before anyone agreed to print it. When it did come out it was heavily criticized by
the press. In the 1950 s the lifestyle that On the Road explored was considered deviant. The stereotype
that emerged in the mass media was a spaced out beatnik, dressed in black, pounding on bongo drums
and muttering gibberish as poetry (Microsoft Encarta, 2001). America s youth, however, identified
with the feelings of despair and the need for freedom expressed in their work. The beats created a
revolution that began with many young people leaving their conventional lives to hitchhike around
American and find themselves. Like most subcultures, the Beat Generation rebelled against the social
and cultural norms of their time. For them it was the post World War II society that they rejected.
Cultural historians point out that acquisition of consumer goods, which had been scarce during
wartime, became a central feature of postwar life, driven by the mass media, advertising, and generous
loan terms (Encarta, 2001). The

Effective And Ineffective Problem Problems Essay

Effective and Ineffective Problem solvers
Good problem solvers have different approaches and characteristic as compared to non problem
solvers (Whimbey, 1982). The characteristics that I possess are:
Accuracy and double checking: As a good problem solver, I am concerned with accuracy. I always
check and recheck, the problem if necessary. I always reread instructions and avoid guessing. In
contrast, a poor problem solver is sloppy and inaccurate. They may misunderstand the problem or the
process of solving it. Most of the time, they lack the slow, step by step approach. (Whimbey,1982.p.7).
Can do attitude: Simply expressed, as an effective problem solver, I see problems as opportunities, a
chance to learn something new, to grow, to succeed where others have failed, or to prove that it can be
done . Underlying this attitude is a deeply held conviction that, with adequate preparation, the right
answer will emerge. Good problem solvers believe that Opportunity is missed by most people because
it is dressed in overalls and looks like work(Thomas Edison). Poor problem solvers will give up at
first chance and are not willing to learn anything new.
There are characteristics that i feel I need to improve. These are:
Dismissal: While I agree I do have some good solving skills, I also tend to dismiss some problems and
leave without solving them. I am however trying to change the dismissal attitude when it comes to
facing some problems. For

Greek Alphabet
Many scholars have yet to prove the origin of Greek alphabet. However, one fact is for certain: the
origin of Greek alphabet does not mean the origin of the writing system to the Greek language. Not a
completely new invention, the Greek alphabet is undoubtedly from a script that the Semitic peoples of
Levantine coast used. Originally fashioned by ethnic Phoenician groups, the source alphabet is
connected to the Ugaritic groups of writing systems that developed around the city of Ugarit (Powell
2009: 230). Nevertheless, the source alphabet and the Greek alphabet work differently as the Greek
alphabet had specific signs for vowels that Phoenicians did not. Hence, regarding such differences and
the adaptations of the original source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, due to the earliest alphabetic inscription from Gabii being dated to 775 and no other
inscriptions yet discovered before the eighth century, such argument to push the date is diminishing,
though not completely eliminated (Powell 2009: 236). In historical terms, with contacts between the
Aegean and the outside world growing during the eighth century and evidence for Phoenician settlers
in the Aegean and Greeks in northern Syria, it is most probable that the origin of Greek alphabet is
from the early eighth century BC.
In addition to the how, where, and when of this alphabet s origin, the reason for its invention is also
vague. Moreover, according to Wilson, this question of why the Greeks adopted and adapted the north
west Semitic script has received relatively little scholarly attention (Wilson 2009: 548). Though
theories of mercantile and poetic origins exist, these theories still pose problems and other
explanations such as for ownership denotation have been offered that need to be further studied.
Hence, this research project intends to undertake the step to investigate the ownership theory as an
explanation for why the Greeks adopted and adapted the alphabet of the Phoenicians.
Hence, it is essential to understand the problems that the existing knowledge of the reason the
monetary and poetic origins generates. The monetary origin begins

Nonviolent Protest Vs Violent Protest
This is why I m going to explain when it comes to protesting why it is important to know and

which made it effective. There are many different views on rather which principles work best when it
comes to protesting. However there more nonviolent protest happening in society then violent protest.
That is why I believe protest who practices nonviolence has proven to have more of an effect on the
world. I feel that it is important that when it comes to protesting and the different practices nonviolent
and violent people should first know and have understanding behind it. The academic study of non

Booker Epilogue
The sensation of a moist tongue swirling around the indentation of his navel woke Booker from a
restful sleep and groaning softly, he opened his eyes to the sight of Tom s brown hair bobbing in front
of him. A lazy smile played over his lips, and he lovingly ran his fingers through the soft peaks of his
lover s mussed up tresses. Mmm, you should wake me up like this every morning.
Tom lifted his head, and a shy smile tilted his lips. Do you want me to keep going? he asked in low,
husky voice.
Maybe, Booker replied with a flirtatious waggle of his eyebrows. But maybe I wanna play with you
too.

Tom s cock jutted proudly out in front of him, the tip glistening with precum and is taut thighs

Art And Symbolism In Ancient Egyptian Art
In ancient Egypt the art was both uniquely stylized and symbolic. As the way that hieroglyphs were a
visual language, the art of human figure ancient Egypt followed specific rules in order to be read,
understood, and symbolic. Artists were not concerned with creating realistic images but rather to
represent an ideal and harmonious version of reality. Artists developed conventions a harmonious
canon of proportions, controlling the angle of view, and the size of each part in relation to the whole.
The human figure was presented in composite perspective. For royal and other depictions of beings of
a higher power, heads were shown in profile, capturing the shape of the nose, forehead, and chin. The
eyes were formed to face frontwards, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During 17 years of reigning, 1353 1336 BCE, he broke the conventions of Egyptian art by showing
himself in warm family scenes with his wife and children, and portraying himself and the rest of the
royal family in a much more human and naturalistic manner, such as eyes being slightly more profiled
than any of his predecessors had. There was also a push of physical distortion. It was all distinctively
stylized. The portrayal of the physical characteristics of the pharaoh himself was the most peculiar
result of Akhenaten art reform. In sculptures and paintings of Akhenaten, he is shown as having a
long, slender neck, a long face with a sharp chin, almond shaped eyes, full lips, long arms and fingers,
rounded thighs, a soft belly, and enlarged breasts. His odd androgynous appearance, depicted in the
colossal statue of Akhenaten raising to about 16 feet, carved out of sandstone, was particularly
prominent in art from the early part of the reign. His appearance was the challenge of Egyptian art
style and the test of his relationship to the gods. Also another important piece to come out of this time
was the head of Nefertiti, the favorite queen, made of painted limestone. The beautiful Nefertari was
discovered in 1912 in the studio of the sculptor Thutmose. The facial features of her are too idealistic
to be human, with a thin slender neck, but strangely come so close to what moderns day society ideal

Analysis Of Sandra Bland And The Long History Of Racism In...
We The People A phrase said by many but what power does it hold? America has been overcome with
division of the people from skin color to sides of citizen and law enforcement. Issues that occur on the
streets of America bring authors to write articles in hope to sway readers to support their thoughts, but
instead lead people to see the worst in the opposite side. Sandra Bland 28 year old Female African
American, dies in jail after abuse of a police officer, officer does not get charged with as much as
people believe and this causes an uprise in articles that are used to give readers an opinion on the
situation. The three sources used in this articles to show how the author can manipulate the thoughts

He proceeds to explain how because of this the possibility of Officer Encinia ( officer involved with
the case) being a racist or having the mindset of a KKK member is higher than if from a place with
little to no history with racism. The history is especially painful because Waller County was for a time
a beacon of black progress (Long History of Racism). The intended audience are the people who
haven t decided whether they support Sandra Bland or Officer Encinia. An inexperienced audience
would analyze the reading as If the article is either good or bad instead of credible or not credible. But
the last two decades of the century saw an influx of white immigrants from Eastern Europe, and that
dilution of the black vote, along with the end of Reconstruction, reduced blacks to a minority and
slashed their political power. (Long History of Racism). What makes this article not credible is the
amount of bias used to persuade the reader. Last June, a black clergyman alleged that Mathis has
threatened him over such accusations. (Long History of Racism) The authors language and how he
explains the case is what causes this article to be not credible and how the author doesn t stay neutral
to explain both sides of the case. Waller County, as Leah Binkovitz notes, had among the highest
numbers of lynchings in the state between 1877 and 1950, according to a comprehensive report by the
Equal Justice Initiative. ( bandwagon). The fallacy that the author uses causes the reader to see the
worst in the law enforcement as well as having a negative effect on society because it causes people to
see the worst in police officers, and because of this the article is very effective in getting a non critical
reader to be easily persuaded, the critical reader should

Essay on Managed Care and Utilization Management
Utilization management is described as the implementation of guidelines which reduce unnecessary
use of medical resources (Kongstvedt, 2007, p.190). There are a variety of methods used to ensure
costs are kept at a minimum without compromising patient care. The use of utilization management
(UM) are yielding financial benefits resulting in managed care organizations (MCOs) and facilities
investing more into UM programs.
Health maintenance organization s (HMOs) use of the primary care physician (PCP) as the gatekeeper

Self care and medical consumerism programs are also a part of DM. They provide member with
access to medical information that will assist them in caring for themselves and knowing when to
consult a professional. These programs are now an accreditation standard for health plans by the
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as they promote consumer directed health (CDH).
The benefits of self care programs show $2.50 to $3.50 saved for every $1 invested by health plans. A
HMO study done showed a decrease in outpatient visits as well as a 2:1 return (Kongstvedt, 2007,
p.192). Another different study showed a decrease in pediatric acute care visits also.
Other programs under DM that have shown to be beneficial to both the members and the health plans

Rhetorical Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Bush
Option 3 In American society there is a common characteristic throughout the population for
individuals to strive towards always being correct. However, with the plethora of contrasting views
and stances on a multitude of topics, the possibility of always being correct diminishes considerably.
Intriguing is the fact that even when individuals possess this knowledge of the unlikelihood of being
correct, both debating parties will defend their beliefs, in some cases, even after one side has been
proven wrong. When a previously held conclusion is threatened by another s tempers can boil up. This
rising of emotion was seen throughout Laura Bohannan s Shakespeare in the Bush. Bohannan
repeatedly began defending her interpretation of Hamlet the instant an elder began giving ideas that
were contrasting towards her own. When Bohannan discussed how Hamlet s uncle married his
widowed mother and the elders began defending the notion she states, I was to upset and thrown too
far off balance by having one of the most important elements in Hamlet knocked straight out of the
picture (4). As the passage progresses the descriptive words that Bohannan uses to depict how she was
replying to the elder s rebuttals slowly became more vehement. She begins to state she spoke firmly
and that she snapped when debating Hamlet (5,6). Furthermore, she stated that, my audience looked as
confused as I sounded implying that she began contemplating the possibilities that her interpretation

A Brief Look at Bilingual Education
Bilingual Education Two Way Immersion programs According to Martinez Wenzy, Perez Gandara
(2012), two major research by the National Literacy Panel (NLP) and the Center for Research on
Education, Diversity and Excellence (CREDE) on effective approaches in the education of ELLs,
found that Reading, spelling and writing instruction in the home language facilitates achievement in
English. The same authors also found, that ELL students who receive instruction in their Native
language outperform their peers in English only programs (as cited in Martinez Wenzy, Perez
Gandara, 2012, pg. 10). Two Way Immersion (TWI) programs, although originally developed to help
English speaking students learn a second language, aim to provide the necessary support for both
English speakers and minority language speakers to become bilingual, biliterate, and biculturate.
Ideally, a TWI classroom is composed of 50% Native English speakers and 50% speakers of a
minority language (ex. Spanish, or Vietnamese), were both groups learn reading, writing, and content
area in both languages, beginning with instruction in the minority language (90/10 model where 90%
of instruction is in the minority language and 10% in English), and eventually introducing English
until instruction in both languages is equal (50/50 model). Although there are variations to this model,
most programs aim for a 50/50 model either gradually, or from the start of the program. Lindholm

Summary Of Emma Bovary
Today, women are free to get divorced, become CEOs of public and private companies, and vote. In
19th century France, women s options were severely limited as they did not have equal property or
contract rights as men nor the right to vote. As a result, women had an extremely isolated existence
and marriage was the accepted way to gain wealth and social status . Women were defined by their
husbands and their power was subordinated to their authority. While many women were content with
this trapped life, Emma Bovary is not. She is trapped in a web of ennui: The feeling of mental
weariness and dissatisfaction produced by want of occupation, or lack of interest in present
surroundings or employments. She insists on gaining authority through forbidden relationships with
men outside her marriage, for there is more to life than her uninspired husband. Emma s desire to
write her own life story, resembling those of the novels she read in the convent as a young girl, is her
ultimate destruction as it drives her into an endless cycle of ennui and finally suicide.
Shortly after her marriage, Emma attempts to escape her ennui through writing and the power of
words. When Emma marries Charles Bovary and becomes Madame Bovary, she falls into a life [that]
was cold as a garret facing north, and ennui, the silent spider, was weaving its web in the darkness, in
every corner of her heart (38). Emma s life is as empty, dark, and isolated. Her loneliness surrounds
her and she recognizes and

Beetroot Essay
The reason why we got these results can be explained, when alcohol interacts with the cell membrane
is affects the normal formation of the lipid chains that form in a bilayer, it is believed that alcohol
binds underneath the charged head of the lipid and displaces water that is originally there [1] this
breaks up the membrane allowing more of the red pigment to diffuse out of the beetroot. [2] The
ethanol forms temporary bonds with the phospholipid heads in the bilayer as they are opposite dipoles
causing the phospholipids to move out of place causing gaps to form which allows large molecules
such as betalain to diffuse out of the cell. As well proteins, like enzymes, can become denatured by the
ethanol due to the same affect as with the phospholipids this can disrupt the hydrogen bonds, which
maintain secondary structure. The negative ethanol molecules cause the bonds between the amino acid

Cholesterol in the membrane is not soluble in water but in ethanol it is soluble, at high concentrations
it actually begins to dissolve, as the cholesterol is no longer present and is used to hold the
phospholipids together, the bilayer comes more fluid, cholesterol helps provide stability so once
removed there becomes larger gaps in between the phospholipids causing larger molecules to be able
to diffuse out, such as betalain, therefore the cell membrane is increasingly more permeable [3]. This
is what caused the results that we got, as the concentration increased so did the gaps in the membrane
in size increase, allowing more pigment to diffuse out, especially at higher concentrations when
cholesterol too dissolved, then as the concentration got higher at 60% the results leveled off as the

Essay On The Development Of The Albertan Oil Sands
Canada s oil sands are among the largest oil reserves in the word. This is evident from the fact that
Canada is ranked third for the largest oil reserve in the world, after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia ( Oil
Sands, n.d.). Oil sand , is a naturally occurring mixture of sand, clay, water and bitumen (Gosselin et
al., 2010). It is a very dense and extremely viscous oil that must be treated before it can be used to
produce usable fuels such as gasoline and diesel (Gosselin et al., 2010). In North America, high oil
prices, growing demand, and diminishing oil reserves results in greater interest to mine local oil
reserves. Increased production of oil generates significant economic benefits but, at the same time, the

Along with greenhouse gases, other pollutants are released into the air during oil sands operations.
These pollutants are harmful to ambient air quality and human health. In the Alberta oil sands,
regional air quality is mainly impacted by the production of nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide (NOx
gases) ( Air Emissions, 2015). NOx gases are primarily produced by fuel combustion in vehicles and
react to form smog and acid rain (NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Consequently, these gases project a
concern to the workers present that are mining the oil sands. This is because NOx gases overtime can
lead to reduced lung function and breathing problems (NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Finally, these
gases pose a threat to local wildlife and vegetation since they react to form acid rain in the
atmosphere. The production of acid rain is harmful for the ecosystems present. This is especially true
for aquatic ecosystems and overtime will lead to death of local wildlife. To conclude, the development
of the oil sands is unfavorable due to the production of harmful gases. The development impacts
global climate negatively due to increased greenhouse gas

In a highly promotional market we invested in giving our customers great value at a time when they
are managing their budgets carefully. We managed our costs, capital investment and stocks tightly. As
a result we delivered earnings in line with last year, and made substantial efficiency savings in our
capital investment plans. Our strategy to transform M S into a leading international, multi channel
retailer remains unchanged and has been validated by strong sales growth in these areas over the last
year. We are making good progress but successful execution of our strategy requires us to adapt to
both market opportunities and current market conditions. In November 2010 we set out a target to
grow our revenues by £1.5bn to £2.5bn over the next three years. As a result of the deterioration in the
economic environment since we set out our plan, we now expect to achieve £1.1bn to £1.7bn increase
in revenues. While conditions in the UK are predicted to be more difficult than originally forecast, we
are on track to deliver both international and multi channel targets.

Case Study On Metabolic Sacidosis
Metabolic sacidosis occurs when the chemical sbalance of acids and sbases in a patient s blood gets

The True Cost Of Social Media Marketing
Everyone s heard the popular adage, There s no such thing as a free lunch, meaning it s impossible to
get something for nothing. In the same way, there s no such thing as free social media. For years we ve
heard that social media is free. While its true that there are no costs associated to actually setting up
your social media accounts, using it in an effective way is far from being free. Social media has
caused the biggest cultural shift in the way we communicate since email. It has revolutionized
advertising, branding, and professional networking for businesses. More importantly, it changed the
way businesses interact with clients, customers, suppliers and others, giving new access like never
seen before. By understanding the costs involved, you will be able to appreciate just how important
investing in social networking can be for your business and why despite the costs, we think you
should invest. This list will explain the true cost of social media marketing! Cost #1: Planning Your

The Goal Of The Journal
1. The goal of the journal is to explain several concepts, many being misunderstandings, of how dry
ice is formed, and to use experiments to explain the hypotheses. The author provides explanations to
scientific reactions that make fog result from mixing together dry ice and water. Kuntzleman, the
author of A Molecular Explanation of How Fog is Produced When Dry Ice Is Placed in Water , also
explains why various ideas about dry ice are false. He demonstrates his ideas using experiments he
says can be performed using primarily cheap, and easy to find material.
The first experiment constructed is set up to effectively measure the density of fog. Because the
experiments all deal with dry ice, it is vital to be able to measure the density of the fog resulting from
a dry ice and liquid combination. Using a 500 mL flask with a round bottom and two openings is
necessary. Approximately 200 mL of liquid is put into the flask. A piece of approximately 10 grams of
dry ice is then placed into one opening on the flask. The other opening is covered by a plastic cuvette.
Through the cuvette the fog s density can be measured using an LED light and sensor. Fog density is
then recorded using the intensity of the light with the formula for the density of the fog, log(I/I0).
The next performed experiment deals with where the fog originates. The atmospheric water is not the
basis of DIWF (Dry Ice Water Fog). The source of this fog comes from bulk water. To prove this using

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Vaccination
There are several religious exemptions that followers can seem to justify but some cases seem to be
outrageous and a threat to society. One of these exemptions being, religious vaccine exemption which
seems to be a controversial topic even in today s society. Although, there is not an abundance of
religious followers who are against vaccination a few do seem to rise publicly once in a while which
leads to a media frenzy. Religions such as, Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reformed Church are
some of the religions in the past having followers known of creating controversy in this topic. In
which then, stirs the public on establishing an opinion on who to side with and what is right and
wrong. For example, there are cases where children entering schools are not vaccinated due to their
parent s religious beliefs. Should this extreme violation towards safety be allowed? No, I believe that
most cases of religious vaccine exemptions are morally unjustifiable and wrong.
Any act that unnecessarily endangers other human beings and society is morally unjustifiable and
wrong. I believe that when there s an option where something can be easily preventable and is known
to be avoidable then it should be accomplished with such method. When someone decides to
purposely chose an alternative option in which danger and negative consequences may become
pertinent and thus, the outcome it is wrong. There s no reason a sane human being should decide to

Ergot Is The Main Cause Of The Salem Witch Trials
The poisonous fungus Ergot is the main cause of the Salem Witch Trials because in the 1500s, Rye
bread was found to be a main staple of people s diets, and the the spread of this fungus through the
consumption of Rye is the only feasible explanation to the random outbreak of witch persecution.
The first reason why Ergot is the main cause of the Salem Witch Trials is that the symptoms of those
who were bewitched were experiencing line up exactly with the symptoms of those who had
consumed Ergot. Linda R. Caporael of University of California at Santa Barbara argues that symptoms
displayed by the children thought to be bewitched fits and complaints of being pricked or bitten, for
example were typical of ergotism. This suggest that those

Examples Of Divine Laws In Antigone
Death is but a beauty all its own Karthus, The aforementioned quote is an example of the differences
between life and death. It also shows beauty that is unique to itself. Laws functions as a boundary or
ordinance of regulations of individuals and their rights. In the story of Antigone, the concept of mortal
law vs. divine law becomes one kind of conflict in the play. There are some principles that affect the
concept of mortal law vs. divine law. The principles addressed are death, sacrifice and love.

Martin Luther s Impact On The Catholic Church
This essay will be about the changes that were made prior to the Reformation. Martin Luther was one
of the main people who had made a significant impact for the Catholic Church that changed many
people s lives for the better. Some people didn t agree with what Martin Luther s actions, or what he
had to say. Many people also loved what he did, and they are still thanking him today. These changes
and important factors that will be explained throughout the essay.
The 95 These was the most significant impacts that Martin Luther had made. The 95 Theses were
written in 1517 and it challenged the teachings and the indulgences of the catholic Church at the time
(Theopedia.com, 2016). Martin Luther felt as though that the Church officials were teaching the
public that they could literally buy their way into the kingdom of God (GotQuestions.org, 2016), for
example some people truly believed that if you bought something like a piece of paper, it was like a
ticket straight into heaven. He nailed the 95 Theses on the gate of the Wittenberg Church, this caught
people s attention and shortly enough it started a theological debate; this then lead to the Reformation.
The 96 Theses got people thinking, and agreeing with what Martin Luther had to say. He strongly
disagreed with the fact that people were being punished/abused for indulging and/or sinning. The 95

Globalization And The Global Economic System
When we think of globalization historically, should we apply it within the frame works of archaic,
proto and modern? A. G. Hopkins who wrote Globalization in World History tends to think we should.
He defines archaic globalization as before to the industrious revolution and the creation of the modern
state prior to 1500. For Hopkins, this time period planted the seeds of what would become the proto
period. In proto globalization, from 1500 1800, arose the beginnings of the state and the dilation of the
global economic system by increased efficiency in revenue exploitation and the revolution of military
fiscalism. Lastly, modern globalization began to emerge in the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. What
defined this period separately from proto global periods was the ascent of the nation state and the
aggrandizement of industrialization. Based on the categories of globalization above, it is useful to look
at the historical progression of globalization in the context provided by Hopkins. In order to do make
this argument however, it will be important to examine how globalization started as the archaic then
matured to the proto, and finally transformed in to the modern by looking at how the state evolved its
method of legitimizing itself, and the refinement of consumption relationships and patterns. In the
archaic period of globalization, there were ancient forms of the state known as the warrior system and
different types of consumption known as cosmic king ship, universal

Essay about The Ten Principles of Conservatism
Conservatives believe communities can provide structure for the natural change that they believe
should be the real way of progress and that communities are capable of providing a counter force
against the concentrated power within the government (Dunn, iii). Thus, community must be near the
top in a list of fundamental conservative tenets, and community is the third in this list of ten principles
of conservatism (Dunn, iii). Conservatives believe that within the community there are the private and
voluntary organizations people can join and be a part of which can help humans grow and flourish
(Dunn, iii). This view reveals why conservatives can view the community as such an important part in
the lives of individuals.
The fourth item in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conservatives believe citizens should think more about what they could and should do for themselves
instead of thinking about what the government could do for them (Dunn, iii iv). The fear is that the
central government would end up controlling more and that there would be social and moral decay
(Dunn, iii iv).
The sixth tenet of conservatism is that democracy, in the minds of conservatives, occurs within the
context of a constitutional order carefully designed not only to limit and separate governmental power,
but also to refine democratic opinion and encourage deliberation (Dunn, iv). Conservatives see that
the Constitution outlines precise government activity, and so conservatives are in favor of a strict
interpretation of the Constitution of the United States. This means that conservatives want courts to
interpret the law as it is written instead of making the law. That would better keep the original
intentions of the framers of the Constitution intact by keeping the tradition and natural change instead
of injecting one s own views to cause change (Dunn, iv).
Property and its ownership, according to the seventh tenet, are important because they encourage
individuals to care more about society. They care more because they have a greater investment in it
(Dunn, iv). Conservatives suggest that because individuals are tied to their community in this solid
way, there is a greater chance that they will function responsibly and desire to preserve the social
order

Not a large one but hollowed... (Munro, 254), this helps readers identify that the narrator is looking
back into the past, their childhood. Memory is the empowering representation of human existence and
the basis of how our mental life is shaped. She states that there many memories she recalls and many
that she assumes to understand with no certainty. As the narrator discusses her own memories, she is
in the process of resolving the conflicts and contradictions she believes is related to Caro s death. The
narrator remembers the accident taking place due to her lack of concern and therefore she puts herself
at fault. Psychologically it is possible to form a memory that is misread or misinterpreted, and
likewise this is what the professional the narrator had met to deal with her grief had tried to convince
her with. The professional, possibly a grief councillor, had provided her with a scenario where she was
incapable of opening the door, resulting to Caro s death. The narrator was satisfied with this
conclusion just for a while till she returned to her observation of the memory. Her guilt lied in the
factual matter of not doing anything to help her sister; realistically as a child she was convinced that
Caro would save herself since dogs did not need saving from bodies of water. Memory here describes
an individual s struggle to recollect the past and with being conscious to those memories

Limited high altitude plants are available for any type of garden including a rock garden. At high
altitude, some plants can burn their leaves easily because they re closer to the sun. Many rock garden
plants that are listed as perennials at sea level, are actually annuals at high altitude. A high altitude
rock garden is one of the simplest gardens to create and can make a not so good looking area of your
yard, come alive with plants and rocks. The ideal location for a high altitude rock garden is a natural
slope such as those found at the side or rear of a house. A high altitude rock garden can be very
attractive near the garage or in a corner of your yard that you re not sure what to do with. Most high
altitude rock garden plants need good drainage and that s why a sloped area is best. A high altitude
rock garden doesn t have to be on a slope, it can border your front walk and your house or anywhere

Persuasive Essay On Drunk Driving Laws
Essay 3 Drunk driving accounts for nearly a third of traffic related deaths in the United States.
Because of this it is perfectly reasonable for laws to be in place to prevent drunk driving. In my belief,
these laws are just and put in place to not only protect the driver under the influence, but those around
them. John Rawls would also believe that these ideas are just due to the law not impeding on anyone s
basic liberties. The laws are also the same for everyone, no matter the social standing they are in. In
the utilitarian viewpoint of Jeremy Bentham the law would be just as well. The law protects the
community and saves many from pain. When comparing the multiple viewpoints of John Rawls,
Jeremy Bentham, and myself, we all would come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This speaks directly to Rawls s point, it does not take away the constitutional rights of anybody. In my
viewpoint this is a valid reason that the laws are just. They protect others while not taking away any
basic liberties from the driver. This penalty for driving under the influence is the same for everyone as
well no matter the social class. Someone who is poor has the same punishment as someone who is
wealthy.
Like Rawls s and my own view Bentham would also find the laws and penalties for drunk driving just.
When someone gets into the driver s seat of a car drunk they run the risk of hurting themselves and
others. When taking into account Bentham s view on the pleasure and pain system this hurt would
cause an intense amount of pain. The pain could be physical for those who are in the accident or
emotional for the family members of those who have been hospitalized or have passed away. The laws
that are put into place to protect people from drunk driving accidents help make sure these pains do
not occur. Even if the laws do not bring pleasure to most it stops pain from the community. To me this
is very important in making the law just. These stops multiple potential accidents and saves many
people pain.
Overall the three viewpoints of Rawls, Bentham, and I are similar in the ways we believe the drunk
driving laws are just. The laws are in place to save

  • 2. Excalibur Movie Essay Movies can be an incredible source for learning about a topic you re studying. After studying Arthur it was very interesting to be able to have to opportunity to watch the movie Excalibur. By watching the movie after you study about King Arthur it allows you to make connections and further your knowledge about the story. In the movie, Excalibur, there I had three favorite scenes that I thoroughly enjoyed. To begin, in the movie, Excalibur, I enjoyed the scene where Arthur pulls the sword out of the stone. In order to stay with the graduation theme, purchase scrapbook paper in the school colors of your graduate. If your graduate s school colors are darker, you can purchase cream colored paper to write on. Take the cards and cut them out into card like shapes; if you have craft scissors that cut in fun patterns, this is a great time to use them. If your graduate s colors are too dark to write on, cut out a slightly smaller square and glue the lighter colored paper in the middle. Once you have the cards assembled, use your most colorful pens and best handwriting to fill each card up with one thing that your graduate has accomplished over the past four years. When you have filled up all the cards, stick them on the photo holders and place them on the tables. In order to make your table decorations a little more interactive, you can leave blank cards as well as pens each table for guests to write down either an accomplishment they remember that your graduate has achieved or a memory that they have with your graduate. In order to make your table decorations for your graduation party both fun and interactive, choose one of the two ideas listed above, or use both ideas at your party. Jeremy Stein (1992) states that a good firm will use convertibles because the firm s true value will be made known before the debt is due . Following Stein s observations, Jen, Choi, and Lee (1997) conclude that convertible bond financing is an attractive alternative for companies that have large growth potential but find both conventional debt and equity financing very costly . • 8. The Beat Generation Subculture Essay The Beat Generation Subculture Every generation has its middle class, majority, and norm, which are decided by that era s standards of behavior and thought. Similarly, each generation has a group that rejects these standards and rebels against the norm. In the 1950 s a group of American writers that exemplified this behavior formed. They were called the beat generation. The beat generation was particularly remarkable because although it was began by an exceptionally small group of people, its cultural influence was enormous. The beats rebelled against things like conformity and consumerism in the post World War II society. Their writing challenged both traditional American values and contemporary writing styles. It took the beats a long time before they gained fame however. Jack Kerouac s novel, On the Road, went through many different publishers before anyone agreed to print it. When it did come out it was heavily criticized by the press. In the 1950 s the lifestyle that On the Road explored was considered deviant. The stereotype that emerged in the mass media was a spaced out beatnik, dressed in black, pounding on bongo drums and muttering gibberish as poetry (Microsoft Encarta, 2001). America s youth, however, identified with the feelings of despair and the need for freedom expressed in their work. The beats created a revolution that began with many young people leaving their conventional lives to hitchhike around American and find themselves. Like most subcultures, the Beat Generation rebelled against the social and cultural norms of their time. For them it was the post World War II society that they rejected. Cultural historians point out that acquisition of consumer goods, which had been scarce during wartime, became a central feature of postwar life, driven by the mass media, advertising, and generous loan terms (Encarta, 2001). • 9. Effective And Ineffective Problem Problems Essay Student Name Professor Name Subject Date Effective and Ineffective Problem solvers Good problem solvers have different approaches and characteristic as compared to non problem solvers (Whimbey, 1982). The characteristics that I possess are: Accuracy and double checking: As a good problem solver, I am concerned with accuracy. I always check and recheck, the problem if necessary. I always reread instructions and avoid guessing. In contrast, a poor problem solver is sloppy and inaccurate. They may misunderstand the problem or the process of solving it. Most of the time, they lack the slow, step by step approach. (Whimbey,1982.p.7). Can do attitude: Simply expressed, as an effective problem solver, I see problems as opportunities, a chance to learn something new, to grow, to succeed where others have failed, or to prove that it can be done . Underlying this attitude is a deeply held conviction that, with adequate preparation, the right answer will emerge. Good problem solvers believe that Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work(Thomas Edison). Poor problem solvers will give up at first chance and are not willing to learn anything new. There are characteristics that i feel I need to improve. These are: Dismissal: While I agree I do have some good solving skills, I also tend to dismiss some problems and leave without solving them. I am however trying to change the dismissal attitude when it comes to facing some problems. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Greek Alphabet Many scholars have yet to prove the origin of Greek alphabet. However, one fact is for certain: the origin of Greek alphabet does not mean the origin of the writing system to the Greek language. Not a completely new invention, the Greek alphabet is undoubtedly from a script that the Semitic peoples of Levantine coast used. Originally fashioned by ethnic Phoenician groups, the source alphabet is connected to the Ugaritic groups of writing systems that developed around the city of Ugarit (Powell 2009: 230). Nevertheless, the source alphabet and the Greek alphabet work differently as the Greek alphabet had specific signs for vowels that Phoenicians did not. However, due to the earliest alphabetic inscription from Gabii being dated to 775 and no other inscriptions yet discovered before the eighth century, such argument to push the date is diminishing, though not completely eliminated (Powell 2009: 236). In historical terms, with contacts between the Aegean and the outside world growing during the eighth century and evidence for Phoenician settlers in the Aegean and Greeks in northern Syria, it is most probable that the origin of Greek alphabet is from the early eighth century BC. In addition to the how, where, and when of this alphabet s origin, the reason for its invention is also vague. Moreover, according to Wilson, this question of why the Greeks adopted and adapted the north west Semitic script has received relatively little scholarly attention (Wilson 2009: 548). Though theories of mercantile and poetic origins exist, these theories still pose problems and other explanations such as for ownership denotation have been offered that need to be further studied. Hence, this research project intends to undertake the step to investigate the ownership theory as an explanation for why the Greeks adopted and adapted the alphabet of the Phoenicians. Hence, it is essential to understand the problems that the existing knowledge of the reason the monetary and poetic origins generates. The monetary origin begins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was also a push of physical distortion. It was all distinctively stylized. The portrayal of the physical characteristics of the pharaoh himself was the most peculiar result of Akhenaten art reform. In sculptures and paintings of Akhenaten, he is shown as having a long, slender neck, a long face with a sharp chin, almond shaped eyes, full lips, long arms and fingers, rounded thighs, a soft belly, and enlarged breasts. His odd androgynous appearance, depicted in the colossal statue of Akhenaten raising to about 16 feet, carved out of sandstone, was particularly prominent in art from the early part of the reign. His appearance was the challenge of Egyptian art style and the test of his relationship to the gods. Also another important piece to come out of this time was the head of Nefertiti, the favorite queen, made of painted limestone. Intriguing is the fact that even when individuals possess this knowledge of the unlikelihood of being correct, both debating parties will defend their beliefs, in some cases, even after one side has been proven wrong. When a previously held conclusion is threatened by another s tempers can boil up. This rising of emotion was seen throughout Laura Bohannan s Shakespeare in the Bush. Bohannan repeatedly began defending her interpretation of Hamlet the instant an elder began giving ideas that were contrasting towards her own. When Bohannan discussed how Hamlet s uncle married his widowed mother and the elders began defending the notion she states, I was to upset and thrown too far off balance by having one of the most important elements in Hamlet knocked straight out of the picture (4). As the passage progresses the descriptive words that Bohannan uses to depict how she was replying to the elder s rebuttals slowly became more vehement. The same authors also found, that ELL students who receive instruction in their Native language outperform their peers in English only programs (as cited in Martinez Wenzy, Perez Gandara, 2012, pg. 10). In 19th century France, women s options were severely limited as they did not have equal property or contract rights as men nor the right to vote. As a result, women had an extremely isolated existence and marriage was the accepted way to gain wealth and social status . Women were defined by their husbands and their power was subordinated to their authority. While many women were content with this trapped life, Emma Bovary is not. She is trapped in a web of ennui: The feeling of mental weariness and dissatisfaction produced by want of occupation, or lack of interest in present surroundings or employments. She insists on gaining authority through forbidden relationships with men outside her marriage, for there is more to life than her uninspired husband. Emma s desire to write her own life story, resembling those of the novels she read in the convent as a young girl, is her ultimate destruction as it drives her into an endless cycle of ennui and finally suicide. [2] The ethanol forms temporary bonds with the phospholipid heads in the bilayer as they are opposite dipoles causing the phospholipids to move out of place causing gaps to form which allows large molecules such as betalain to diffuse out of the cell. In the Alberta oil sands, regional air quality is mainly impacted by the production of nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide (NOx gases) ( Air Emissions, 2015). NOx gases are primarily produced by fuel combustion in vehicles and react to form smog and acid rain (NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Consequently, these gases project a concern to the workers present that are mining the oil sands. This is because NOx gases overtime can lead to reduced lung function and breathing problems (NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Finally, these gases pose a threat to local wildlife and vegetation since they react to form acid rain in the atmosphere. The production of acid rain is harmful for the ecosystems present. This is especially true for aquatic ecosystems and overtime will lead to death of local wildlife. To conclude, the development of the oil sands is unfavorable due to the production of harmful gases. The author provides explanations to scientific reactions that make fog result from mixing together dry ice and water. Kuntzleman, the author of A Molecular Explanation of How Fog is Produced When Dry Ice Is Placed in Water , also explains why various ideas about dry ice are false. He demonstrates his ideas using experiments he says can be performed using primarily cheap, and easy to find material. The first experiment constructed is set up to effectively measure the density of fog. Because the experiments all deal with dry ice, it is vital to be able to measure the density of the fog resulting from a dry ice and liquid combination. Using a 500 mL flask with a round bottom and two openings is necessary. Approximately 200 mL of liquid is put into the flask. A piece of approximately 10 grams of dry ice is then placed into one opening on the flask. The other opening is covered by a plastic cuvette. Through the cuvette the fog s density can be measured using an LED light and sensor. Fog density is then recorded using the intensity of the light with the formula for the density of the fog, log(I/I0). The next performed experiment deals with where the fog originates. • 30. Globalization And The Global Economic System When we think of globalization historically, should we apply it within the frame works of archaic, proto and modern? A. G. Hopkins who wrote Globalization in World History tends to think we should. He defines archaic globalization as before to the industrious revolution and the creation of the modern state prior to 1500. For Hopkins, this time period planted the seeds of what would become the proto period. In proto globalization, from 1500 1800, arose the beginnings of the state and the dilation of the global economic system by increased efficiency in revenue exploitation and the revolution of military fiscalism. Lastly, modern globalization began to emerge in the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. What defined this period separately from proto global periods was the ascent of the nation state and the aggrandizement of industrialization. Based on the categories of globalization above, it is useful to look at the historical progression of globalization in the context provided by Hopkins. In order to do make this argument however, it will be important to examine how globalization started as the archaic then matured to the proto, and finally transformed in to the modern by looking at how the state evolved its method of legitimizing itself, and the refinement of consumption relationships and patterns. In the archaic period of globalization, there were ancient forms of the state known as the warrior system and different types of consumption known as cosmic king ship, universal ... • 34. Essay about The Ten Principles of Conservatism Conservatives believe communities can provide structure for the natural change that they believe should be the real way of progress and that communities are capable of providing a counter force against the concentrated power within the government (Dunn, iii). Thus, community must be near the top in a list of fundamental conservative tenets, and community is the third in this list of ten principles of conservatism (Dunn, iii). Conservatives believe that within the community there are the private and voluntary organizations people can join and be a part of which can help humans grow and flourish (Dunn, iii). This view reveals why conservatives can view the community as such an important part in the lives of individuals. The fourth item in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conservatives believe citizens should think more about what they could and should do for themselves instead of thinking about what the government could do for them (Dunn, iii iv). The fear is that the central government would end up controlling more and that there would be social and moral decay (Dunn, iii iv). The sixth tenet of conservatism is that democracy, in the minds of conservatives, occurs within the context of a constitutional order carefully designed not only to limit and separate governmental power, but also to refine democratic opinion and encourage deliberation (Dunn, iv). Conservatives see that the Constitution outlines precise government activity, and so conservatives are in favor of a strict interpretation of the Constitution of the United States. This means that conservatives want courts to interpret the law as it is written instead of making the law. That would better keep the original intentions of the framers of the Constitution intact by keeping the tradition and natural change instead of injecting one s own views to cause change (Dunn, iv). Property and its ownership, according to the seventh tenet, are important because they encourage individuals to care more about society. They care more because they have a greater investment in it (Dunn, iv). Conservatives suggest that because individuals are tied to their community in this solid way, there is a greater chance that they will function responsibly and desire to preserve the social order ... (Munro, 254), this helps readers identify that the narrator is looking back into the past, their childhood. Memory is the empowering representation of human existence and the basis of how our mental life is shaped. She states that there many memories she recalls and many that she assumes to understand with no certainty. As the narrator discusses her own memories, she is in the process of resolving the conflicts and contradictions she believes is related to Caro s death. The narrator remembers the accident taking place due to her lack of concern and therefore she puts herself at fault. Psychologically it is possible to form a memory that is misread or misinterpreted, and likewise this is what the professional the narrator had met to deal with her grief had tried to convince her with. The professional, possibly a grief councillor, had provided her with a scenario where she was incapable of opening the door, resulting to Caro s death. The narrator was satisfied with this conclusion just for a while till she returned to her observation of the memory. Her guilt lied in the factual matter of not doing anything to help her sister; realistically as a child she was convinced that Caro would save herself since dogs did not need saving from bodies of water. • 39. Persuasive Essay On Drunk Driving Laws Essay 3 Drunk driving accounts for nearly a third of traffic related deaths in the United States. Because of this it is perfectly reasonable for laws to be in place to prevent drunk driving. In my belief, these laws are just and put in place to not only protect the driver under the influence, but those around them. John Rawls would also believe that these ideas are just due to the law not impeding on anyone s basic liberties. The laws are also the same for everyone, no matter the social standing they are in. In the utilitarian viewpoint of Jeremy Bentham the law would be just as well. The law protects the community and saves many from pain. This speaks directly to Rawls s point, it does not take away the constitutional rights of anybody. In my viewpoint this is a valid reason that the laws are just. They protect others while not taking away any basic liberties from the driver. This penalty for driving under the influence is the same for everyone as well no matter the social class. Someone who is poor has the same punishment as someone who is wealthy. Like Rawls s and my own view Bentham would also find the laws and penalties for drunk driving just. When someone gets into the driver s seat of a car drunk they run the risk of hurting themselves and others. When taking into account Bentham s view on the pleasure and pain system this hurt would cause an intense amount of pain. The pain could be physical for those who are in the accident or emotional for the family members of those who have been hospitalized or have passed away. The laws that are put into place to protect people from drunk driving accidents help make sure these pains do not occur. Even if the laws do not bring pleasure to most it stops pain from the community. To me this is very important in making the law just. These stops multiple potential accidents and saves many people pain. Overall the three viewpoints of Rawls, Bentham, and I are similar in the ways we believe the drunk driving laws are just.
