Informant Vs Preliminary Hearing
The case that I received was a case that has to do with the disclosure of information by the
prosecutor in court. A federal agent had caught a man selling drugs during an undercover operation.
The prosecutor had instructed the agent not to mention information about an informant during the
preliminary hearing.(Garland,2012)The question with this is whether or not this act was
unconstitutional. This is unconstitutional because all information should be included and none
disclosed for the preliminary hearing or any trial. The prosecution wanted to disclose the
information about the informant because it was not needed in the preliminary hearing. The Gale
Encyclopedia said that The hearing is conducted to determine whether there is sufficient

Job satisfaction, the most widely studied work attitude, is then discussed. We look at job
satisfaction among Canadians, the effects of job satisfaction on work behaviour, and new
п¬Ѓndings regarding the relationship between job satisfaction and employee performance and
customer satisfaction. The next section provides an overview of organizational commitment,
including the types of commitment, consequences of commitment, and ways to build affective
commitment. Organizational commitment is strongly influenced by trust and the psychological
contract, so the п¬Ѓnal section of this chapter looks at the meaning and elements of both concepts.
EMOTIONS IN THE WORKPLACE The tragic events of September 11, 2001, in the United
States are permanently etched in our minds. The four hijacked planes and the collapse of the
World Trade Center towers evoked a variety of emotions in people, such as anger, sadness, and fear.
Airline employees particularly identified with these shocking events. We were torn apart, says
Lucie Leduc, a flight attendant with Air Transat in Montreal. We could totally imagine it. . . .
There were flight attendants who couldn t fly for a while; some are still not flying. 2 Lucie
Leduc and her co workers at Air Transat experienced the strong emotions associated with the events

Burial In Sophocles Antigone
In Sophocles play Antigone, two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices fight for the thrown of Thebes.
The war comes to an end when both brothers die fighting for the honor, and their uncle Creon
becomes the king of Thebes. Upon his coronation, Creon issues a decree that Eteocles, the former
king of Thebes, will be honored with a traditional military burial, while his brother Polynices will
be left unwept, unburied, a lovely treasure for birds that scan the field and feast to their heart s
content (Sophocles, 60). Antigone, one of the two sisters, outraged by this ruling, takes matters
into her own hands and goes against this newly established law by properly burying her brother.
Ultimately Antigone sets aside the political law and does what s morally right by honoring her
brother with a traditional burial. I will argue that Antigone s decision to bury her brother was the
right decision. While she may have disobeyed the law put in place by the newly appointed
inexperienced king of Thebes, she was in turn honoring her brother and the long standing traditions
and expectations of the g ds, principles much more important than the arbitrary laws of the state.
I would argue that most importantly, Creon s law was arbitrary. Creon says in a discussion he has
with Haemon, Am I to rule this land for others or myself? after a short dialogue back and forth
where Haemon argues that a city is not owned by one man alone, Creon declares that The city is
the king s that s the law

Ethics in the Editing Business
The Ethics of Editing
In the editing business, there are particular ethical codes that should be adhered to by all those
involved in the profession. Professional editors Tod Roberts and Mary Schendlinger both suggest
that some of the most fundamental principles of ethics in editing include the editor s responsibility
to the writers, to society/readers, and to the editing profession itself. An editor s objective is to
adequately balance the writer s needs, the industry s standards, and the reader s expectations so as
to produce a story that satisfies all three.
One of the very important ethical codes that editors should always remember is to treat all writers
and their works with respect equally. Authors have their own unique styles, forms of writing, and
voice and that should not be diminished as long as it does not directly impact the writing in a
negative manner. An editor s responsibility to polish and refine a writing. They will help guide a
story s focus along a certain path and direct the audience s to major points that they need to be
aware of. Editors also cut out extraneous parts that prove to be nonessential to the story s purpose.
At the same time, editors must always consider the writer s feelings or opinions and should always
use tact when making suggestions so as to reduce the possibility of discord between the author and
the editor. When such disagreements do arise, the editor must attempt to reach a compromise with
the author. Editors do often have the

Potato- An Important Vegetable
The potato is one of history s most important vegetables, although initially reluctant Europeans
quickly became dependent on the plant. Most of the educated class saw the potato s potential
and raised it in their gardens before the more superstitious lower classes. The lower classes
feared the myths of night shades and plagues and the encouragement from God was the only sign
to begin growing potatoes (Zuckerman 49). Some farmers believed this crop to be an aphrodisiac,
others saw it as the cause of fever and leprosy. In meat loving England, urban workers and
considered potatoes to have an extreme distaste. The critic, Denis Diderot wrote in his
EncyclopГ©die in 1765 his stance on the potato. He stated that it wasn t a pleasant food, though
abundant, and adequately nourished those who didn t care about anything except sustenance
(Zuckerman 73). The Europeans had strong opinions about the potato and it would have to take a
lot of convincing to change their minds. The European government knew the potato could
develop and effect the economy in a positive way, they only needed to find a way to encourage
the lower classes to grow the vegetable. The EncyclopГ©die went on to convoke the public by
saying say the potato caused intestinal gas but opined that this was no drawback for laborers or
peasants, whose robust insides could withstand the disturbance better than those of more refined
folk (Zuckerman 74). In 1662, the Royal Society recommended the cultivation of

Tax Reform In Australia
Introduction
In the article Tax reform =Growth, the author Rory Meakin (2012) suggests that Australia has a
good tax system but it still has its problems. He compares the tax system between Britain and
Australia as well, and discusses the importance for the government to change its approach of raising
taxes to make it cheaper, fairer and more legitimate in Australia. The article outlines the
complexities of the taxation system in the country, which resulted to the lost of its legitimacy since
many people do not understand how much they should pay. It advises the need for the government
to make the tax system to be as neutral as possible by eliminating complications that will add
confusion to its approach. The journal name tax reform equals to growth and he totally agrees that
raising the tax and keeping the tax neutral is the better way to face the tax problems nowadays.

The author firstly points out the problems of tax system. Too complicated, too many special
allowances and specific taxes, and too much money drained out of the pockets of working
Australians. The author cites many examples, such as national insurance, tax accountancy guides
called ToUey s, the Byzantine complexity, the final report, The Single Income Tax, to state the
necessity to propose a very radical yet necessary change to how the government raises taxes,
aimed at making the system cheaper, fairer and more legitimate. The cost of complexity is high
and, in addition, complexity has led to the tax system having lost legitimacy as many people do not
even really understand how much tax they should pay, let alone how much others should pay. That
opacity, a direct consequence of complexity, inevitably leads many to suspect others of not paying
their fair share. Data is listed to support the view that the complicity of tax system has damaged the
legitimacy of the

An Explanation Of The Word Ghetto
Nicole, I really enjoyed your post. The word ghetto stems from when European cities in which
the Jews were restricted, and later used to describe a slum section of an American city,
predominantly occupied by a minority group who live under social and economic pressures. The
word represents an institutional and historical basis of racial exclusion. The word ghetto also has
a particular racial component, and defines those associated with the word as being represented by
social isolation, residential segregation, gross inequality, consistent poverty, and crime. Delinquent
behavior from those considered to be poor or lower class may actually be a protest against the
norms and values of the middle class, per theorist Cohen. In addition, their

King Kong Comparison Essay
The original 1933 King Kong was created as a movie: to convey a story and entertain and
audience. Peter Jackson s 2005 remake took the foundation for King Kong and expanded upon it
in almost every way in order to make again the amazement of the original for a modern audience.
Audiences received the original King Kongvery well. The stop motionsequences of Kong were
amazing for their time and the movie grossed $90,000 in its opening weekend. In order to bank
upon its success again sequels were made and then in 1976 a remake was made to improve upon
the original. Paramount updated the movie to color, changed the story, and cast Jeff Bridges, a well
known actorof the time, as the lead. Although the movie received mixed reviews, it did... Show

While Jackson s remake is true to the original for the most part, there are some small changes
made in order to make the movie more appealing. In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in
the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves
the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely
places. Studios know that if a movie does well the first time, it is likely to do well the second
time and even the third time. King Kong is no exception. Producers can presume that the glory
of the original will pass on to the remake since audiences hope for that feeling again. Whether the
movie is better or not doesn t matter. Audiences will go to see King Kong over the years because
the remakes are associated with the original. Every King Kong remake is based on the same
principles: wanting to create a movie that will capture audiences and instill in them a sense of
wonderment and awe. The original did this and the remakes try to do it again. Directors, producers,
and studios may change the story, update the actors and technology but they are essentially just
trying to cash in on the success of the original. Take a good idea, update it, and reap the benefits

My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay
I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because
of its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because
I lacked the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my
reading comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never
been an enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the
events that went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because
I ThoughtI would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would
mainly like to thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and
was quite easy to follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a
few authors that wrote big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of
myself for finishing this book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I
never did. Yet, being forced to read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bitof enjoyment
out of it. Without the great descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would
have been quite boring and hard to read. The author did a splendid job of clearly describing each
event thoroughly enough to make it almost like I was in David s shoes. My favorite part of the
book was when David got off the

Overtime Character Analysis
Many people in life do not sit and think about the consequences that would be the outcome of
their actions. Upon approaching this show, people would see that it is just another superhero
show where the hero beats the bad guy. In a sense, it is that kind of show, but the show is more
than those stereotypical hero stories. Throughout Arrow, the protagonist Oliver Queen has
problem accepting for what he has become. Overtime, Oliver was forced to live a rough life
because he found himself trapped on an island; his rough experience of trying to survive changed
him into a type of person who would easily kill a person without a second thought. It conflicted

Throughout the show, Oliver decides to plays the roles of investigator, interrogator, judge, jury,
and executioner (Beard). He decides whether or not a man gets to see the end of the day. For
example, during an ultimatum that forced Oliver to decide between the lives of two people, he
chose to save the person who was closer to him. This resulted into an upbringing of an enemy
named Slade. Slade wanted to get revenge and try to kill Oliver loved ones as a duty towards the
other person. Slade then forced to choose between the life between his mother or sister. In
society, nobody should decide who should live or die. The reason for that is because it creates
bias and it the creates a problem. If one were to choose one, then the other would die and they
people would cry for the dead. People do not realize that their actions to judge one could affect not
just the person, but the people around

The Island Is Small, The North Shore Is Part Of A Huge...
Although Staten Island is small, the North Shore is part of a huge project coming up. Next to
the Saint George Terminal, Richard Marin is looking to create the Empire Outlets, and the New
York Wheel, a 630 foot tall Ferris wheel. When Marin started discussing the development project,
he already had nearly 200 million dollars set, however, still needed to work out how he was going
to get the other 300 million dollars (Hughes, 2015). An article in the New York Post, written by
Associated Press (2014), explains that the main goal of this reconstruction is to make Staten Islanda
place for tourism. The article discusses the fact that millions of people ride the ferry, which is
already a main tourist attraction. However, the tourist are not spending any money or time on the
Island because they are all going into Manhattan. The goal of the ferris wheel and the shopping
complex being created, is to keep tourist occupied during their stay (Press, 2014). Although Staten
Island is already over populated and bringing in more people will have the area feeling congested,
this is an ideal way of employing hundreds of people. The New York CityEconomic Development
Corporation, states that this project is expecting to create at least four hundred construction jobs
and four hundred permanent jobs, ultimately helping the economy grow. Not only is this attraction
for the two million tourist who ride the ferry every year, it will be a place for people from Staten

William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
To be an effective society, itЕ› important to have a few key qualities such as teamwork or
cooperation and order. These make achieving goals much easier, and in the end, it leads to success
by completing the tasks needed to get towards the goal, whether that be obtaining food or
conquering an entire continent. In Golding s Lord of the Flies, a lack of mutual respectbetween the
leaders and followers as well as the failure to unite themselves to worktogether for the same goals,
resulted in chaos, and ultimately, the division and failure of their society on the island. Without

were unable to keep the fire going, Ralph s main goal which could ve helped bring rescue to them.
It was much more difficult, and the boys were unable to efficiently and effectively work to
accomplish their goal, the main event that lead to the group fights. Since Jack and some other boys
didn t listen to their leader, they not only hurt their chances of rescue and survival, but split the
group, turning friends into enemies which lead to multiple unnecessary and unwarranted deaths on
the island. Ralph was too friendly, and the boys betrayed him, but they didn t openly betray Jack

Comparing Gothic Churches Vs. Freque Churches
I personally found Gothic style churches to be more architecturally appealing than the Romanesque
ones. The reason for this is Gothic churches were filled with light and thin, towering walls. These
characteristics were very uncommon for the dark, thick structures of Romanesque architecture. The
structure was able to be filled with such light due to three very important architectural elements.
These elements include pointed arches, ribbed vaulting, and buttresses. Thanks to these elements
stained glass windows were added to Gothic cathedrals. The translucent walls were more than just
decoration. The windows allowed for the illiterate public to interact with Christian scripture. Overall
in my opinion the elements of Gothic architectureis better than the Romanesque architecture.

The two styles are polar opposites of each other. Gothic architectural structures were thin, light
filled, towering structures. Romanesque architectural structures were dark, thick, and short. The
new Gothic style created the light filled and towering looks by replacing elements of
Romanesque churches. The style replaced round arches with pointed arches that weren t limited to
width and height. It also moved the massive piers of Romanesque churches to the exterior. This
created flying buttresses which are stone arms that braced the nave walls. This allowed for the
walls to be filled with glass instead of masonry. Masonry was a huge characteristic of Romanesque
architecture. These churches were filled with paintings and mosques on the walls. There was no
need for light to fill the churches because the public didn t use them only monks. This changed in
the Gothic period and the public was finally allowed access to the churches. The architects then
decided to open up the structures and allow divine light

Leadership Is Important When Conducting A Organization,...
Leadership is important when conducting a organization, program, or event. There are many
changes in educational organizations. The article talks about how educational organizations can
adjust to change and what it takes to implement change. Change is always good especially with the
changes of time. Technology is way more advance in the millieum era then it was in the 1990 s so
changing educational organizations should arrange with the advancement of the era. Educational
organizations that are behind with advancement could possibly fail and not succeed with a lack of
participants. According to Martincic They are incited by a number of factors: technological
advancement, changed expectations and needs of the clients, changemarket conditions, changing of
legistration, changed social values etc. (p.g 1). The article also goes into detail about being able to
come together and take intination in developing a plan to create change.
When individuals want to implement change they have to develop not only a plan but also have
resources and a committee or team. Therefore more then one idea or suggestion will make the plan
worthwhile of pursuing. Individuals who would want change also have to reach out to stakeholders
and politicians. Politicans are on the forefront of reaching a lot of people. As said by Martincic
(2015), Much more interesting for the long term efficiency of an organization is the change that

The Importance Of An Age
When looking back at history, there is one constant used over and over regardless of the
situation; this constant is age. History proves a person cannot vote until they are 18 years of
age, could not drink until they were 18, which has risen to 21. A person must be 18 years of age
to buy cigarettes, and all males under federal law must sign up for the draft and potentially could
give up their life defending this great nation. By virtue of turning 18 years old, a person inherits
so many responsibilities which apply across most of the country, many of these responsibilities
explained by Cynthia D. Kinser, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Virginia (2011) have far more

Moreover, to ensure the United States sends a clear message to other nations, Article 27 of the
North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) includes child labor laws to
ensure the safety of other children (SIROEN, 2013). Despite the fact the United States creates
laws to protect children both home and our trade partners in various nations, enforcing such
standards is extremely hard. In order to enforce these standards, it would mean constant
surveillance of our trade partners to guarantee compliance. Furthermore, by limiting the type of
job a child can perform solely based on age is having negative effects on manufacturers here in
the United States, and is part of the issue with adults working jobs paying minimum wage.
Adjusting the current age requirements before a child is able to gain employment experience
will cause havoc and lead to adverse effects. Children today, are not being held accountable and
many feel society owes them a way of life. While there are some jobs that a person under the age of
21 should not perform, there are many jobs currently restricted by the Fair Standards Labor Act,

What Plato Meant by the Form of the Good Essay
What Plato Meant by the Form of the Good The basis of Plato s philosophy is his theory of
Ideas, or doctrine of Forms while the notion of Forms is essential to Plato s philosophy, over years
of philosophical study, it has been difficult to understand what these Forms are supposed to be, and
the purpose of their existence. When examining Plato s forms and evaluating the theory, some
conclusions have proved to be unclear and unanswered. However, the doctrine of Forms is essential
to Plato s philosophy. Plato came to his view of the Forms based on two premises: first that
knowledge cannot come through the senses; and second, we do nevertheless manage to know
things in mathematics, for instance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slaves know nothing of reality except the one of which they are presented as the Sun, which
represents the Form of the Good is outside the cave but the slaves have no idea of its existence.
One day a prisoner is released from his shackles and goes up to the upper part of the cave and
sees the fire and the objects, which are casting the shadows, and he also sees the sun and is
blinded by this higher form of reality. Plato believed that the way to find or realise true reality is
not through gathering empirical evidence or through deep scientific tests such as studying the
shadows to determine what they are. But rather that in order to break the chains we can only do so
through inner contemplation or philosophical investigation in order to ascend out of the cave and
see the sun which gives light to all the forms. For every sense object in the empirical world, there is
a corresponding perfect Form. These Forms are non physical, permanent, eternal, and invisible.
How then, you may ask, can one ever know of the Forms if they cannot be known by sense
perception? Plato answers this question by stating that the Forms are known in thought. They are
the objects of thought, therefore, whenever you are thinking, you are thinking of Forms. An
important point to note about the Forms is the idea of permanence as the Forms are forever
unchanging. An

Monarch Butterflies Population Decline
The population numbers of the beloved Monarch Butterfly are rapidly decreasing, and scientists
are working hard this September to save the species. Monarch butterflies depend solely on the
milkweed plant to survive. Milkweed, however, has been disappearing like crazy due especially to
increased use of the weed killer Roundup over the past ten to twenty years. That, combined with
more general trends of habitat loss, various effects of climate change, and challenges like the
drought in California, has spelled out around a ninety percent population decline for monarchs in
the past twenty years. Scientists currently estimate a global population of around 33 million

The Three Tales of Cymbeline Essay
The Three Tales of Cymbeline
Cymbeline has always been a difficult play to categorize. The original collection of Shakespeare s
plays, quot; The First Folio quot; (published in 1623), classifies it as a tragedy; modern editors have
revised that to comedy, and to distinguish it further from other comedies, it is also referred to, along
with The Tempest, The Winter s Tale, and Pericles, as a romance. Of course, like so many other
plays of Shakespeare, these classifications are only guidelines rather than definitions, for an attempt
to analyze a work of art according to somewhat arbitrary classifications is to diminish the very
essence its originality that makes it a work of art. Undoubtedly, there are many aspects, ... Show

The danger to Imogen s life by her husband s jealous action is as real as is Desdemona s fate, thus
propelling the play to the edge of tragedy. Unlike Iago, however, Iachimo (the similarity of their
names is interesting) repents (he is even ready to accept death as his punishment) and is then
forgiven by the generous Posthumus. The theme of forgiveness is characteristic of Shakespeare
s romances Hermione s forgiveness of Leontes is one of the most beautiful moments of The
Winter s Tale, and Prospero s decision to return to his kingdom is itself a forgiveness of the
wrongs done him. Another staple of romantic epics is the story of lost and found children. Often,
the lost child is a girl, but sometimes, as Shakespeare chooses here, the children may be boys.
The Guiderius Arviragus story includes the tale of Belarius, the quot;supposed father quot; who
is drawn from the quot;rusticated courtier quot; of pastoral romance. By deciding to make

How Did Shakespeare Believe In The Diverie Of Magic
During the reign of James VI, Reginald Scot wrote a book detailing his opinions on the witch
hunting craze. The book was ironically titled The Discoverie of Magic despite what the content
of the book. In his book, Scot explains how unrealistic he believes witches are. His whole book
explains why he did not believe in the existence of witches. One quote from his book states his
key argument: If witches could do any such miraculous things, as these and other which are
imputed to them, they might do them again and again, at any time or place, or at any man s
desire: for the devil is as strong at one time as at another, as busy by day as by night, and ready
enough to do all mischief, and careth not whom he abuseth (Scot). Scot found it very strange...

The first time The Tempest was performed was in front of James VI and his court. This
performance has significance because it already creates a connection between James VI and The
Tempest. This also showed that Shakespeare was willing to have his play performed, where there
the protagonist was royalty that recreationally used magic, in front of someone who was known for
having people accused and killed for witchcraft. Since Shakespeare was usually commissioned by
royals to write his plays and was an English citizen, he more than likely had an inkling that the
play would first be performed for James VI s court. This is not the only coincidence that proves
Shakespeare based The Tempest, if only partly, off of James VI and his crimes against his own
citizens. The first performance of the play was actually presented as a part of James VI s
daughter s wedding ceremonies. It was performed at court during the marriage celebrations of
James I s daughter Elizabeth, the future Winter Queen of Bohemia, in 1613 (Cavendish). This is
significance is in the fact that the two main characters in the play are an exiled king and his
daughter. More than coincidently, Shakespeare s main characters were a father daughter duo.
The Tempest was also one of Shakespeare s comedies in that it involved little to no death and
ended with a marriage (in this play s case an engagement). The choice of a comedy that ended in
an engagement for James VI s daughter s wedding ceremony proves that Shakespeare had more
reason for choosing the play to perform to James VI than simply deciding to perform it because it
was his latest creation. Shakespeare made a statement by performing The Tempest before a
paranoid ruler who had ordered the murder of at least

Eating Healthy Lifestyle Is Simple
Healthy Lifestyle The reason why I chose to write this essay about healthy lifestyle is simple. I
wanted to learn the benefits, disadvantages and consequences of eating healthy have in our lives.
This is a very significant issue, considering that a very high percentage of the population in the
United States is obese or overweight. It has been proven that several health risks are caused by
being overweight, such as heart diseases, high blood pressure and diabetes. Unfortunately,
thousands of lives are being lost every year because of weight related diseases. Having said that,
I determined to start my research paper asking the following question: Does the pleasure of
freely eating, pays off the price of a healthy life in the future? As I had no deep knowledge in the
subject before starting my research, I decided to familiarize myself a little more by watching a
video on YouTube. On the engine search I typed in: A Doctor s perspective about eating healthy,
and chose Dr. Joel Fuhrman: 3 Steps to incredible health Eating healthy to achieve a great Vital
Life. In my opinion, this was a trustable source because the content was presented by a Board
certified Physician in practice for over twenty years. This documentary focused mainly on
comparing the health of people living in remote areas and cultivates their own food, free of
pesticides and conservatives, with others that mostly eat processed food, without the micronutrients
our body needs. I agree with the documentary, that

The Impact Of President Woodrow Wilson And Women s Suffrage
For years in the United States of America, women have been battling for their rights. In the early
years when the United States were colonies, under the English common law, By marriage, the
husband and wife are one person in the law. The very being and legal existence of the woman is
suspended during the marriage, or at least is incorporated into that of her husband under whose
wing and protection she performs everything, (History of Women s Rights in America). Now in
present day America, Hilary Clinton gets the presidential nomination for the Democratic party and
becoming the first women to lead a majority party, however she lost the election. Where the United
Statesis today, America would not be like it is now without the leader of the free world, the
president. Comparing both President Wilson and Ford, how they help women s rights, what they
accomplished, and how Congress had an impact.
Woodrow Wilson, served two terms, in the following years, 1913 1921. Before he was president,
there were women who were trying to get the write to vote. As in example, in 1848, there was a
big convention in Seneca Falls, men and women signed the Decoration of Sentiments to try to end
discrimination against women. During Wilson first term (1913 1917), he was lukewarm about the
idea of women s suffrage. The years leading up to the ratification of the 19th amendment, there was
the first War World. Suffragist knew it was going to be challenging to try to fight for the right to

Artemis s Role In The Trojan War
Artemis was the Greek goddess of childbirth, chastity, virginity, hunting, and wild animals. Artemis
held so much power, she was capable of killing, plaguing, transforming people, or even healing,
which arguably makes her one of the most powerful Greek Goddesss.
Artemis s birth is associated with some conflict, as some accounts affiliate her to be siblings to
Athena, Ares, and Demeter. However, most professionals state she is the daughter of Zeusand Leto
and she is the twin sister of Apollo. This is the general knowledge everyone knows and agrees on.

win the goddess s heart by sacrificing another goddess s daughter (Mythology).
Along with Artemis s power and skill, she was a perfectionist. In one myth, it is told that her
brother, Apollo, challenged her to prove her ability to shoot a bow and arrow. The challenge was
held at sea, and was that whoever could hit the distant target won the challenge. Artemis s power

An Introduction To Private Health Insurance
INTRO
Private health Insurance is a $1.42 billion (before tax) industry in Australia (Seah, 2012) and has
played a prominent role in the country s health system for over 60 years. As of 2009, 51per cent of
the Australian population was covered by some form of private health insurance. Private health
insurance is a regulated industry; this means it is controlled by government legislation under the
Private Health Insurance Act (2007). Private health insurers are required to register under this Act,
and the policies they sell must adhere to these regulations (Shamsullah, 2011). Due to the size and
regulation of the industry managers in the sector may face many complex challenges.
Complex management has been around for thousands of years. Basic management tools that were
used in the past have formed the foundations of the theories that have shaped today s management
practices. One of the major challenges in today s organisational environments is the
interconnectedness of all management aspects. It can be difficult for leaders to identify the exact
problem, the cause of the problem and what relevant information (within the available abundance)
is relevant and could be used to address problems (Maznevski, 2007). This study aims to analyse the
issues and problems faced by HealthCo and provide potential solutions and recommendations to
enhance management and business success.

My Passion For Music
From day to day, I live trying to figure out my purpose of being in this world. No child is born a
mistake irrespective of the circumstances. I was born with a talent, although, yet to be discovered.
A talent is a symbol of who a person really is. When I was younger, my dad put me through music
school hoping that I would learn to play the pianobecause he wished he did when he was my age. I
was not a big fan of playing the piano so I struggled most of the time. My fingers were so stiff and
my instructor would request that I moisturize and massage them to make them more flexible.
However, the underlying issue was my lack of interest and not my un cooperating fingers.
For some, Music is a way to express how they feel. People see through a person with the sound of
music. Since I really had no interest in the piano, I decided to take a look at other instruments.
My passion for music was decreasing as I could not find an instrument that my hands found
pleasure in. A friend of mine said I should try the violin. She described it as a classical instrument
that soothes the soul. The first few weeks I learned how to play the violin, I started to get a hang of
it but as I played I would always dance. It was weird to my classmates but dancing with the sounds
the violin made me so happy.
One s interest typically leads one to one s talent eventually, one step at a time. This is evident from
a popular quote Talent can t be taught, but it can be awakened by Wallace Stegner.

Chloroethenes And Methanogenesis
Chloroethenes are one of major contaminant presents throughout environments. Biodegradation of
these compounds is still rate limiting in natural conditions due to their persistence to both chemical
and biological attacks. Furthermore, the accumulation of the compounds is far less than the
biodegradation rate occurred in the ecosystem. Many efforts have been made to find ways for
increasing the biodegradation rate of chloroethenes, including isolate new microorganisms that
capable of degrading chloroethenes faster and effective; and examine more on their biodegradation
mechanisms to find an efficient way to degrade those compounds. This research was performed to

This paper studies the impact of the commodity futures of the underlying commodity (6
commodities: Alluminium, Cardamom, Currency, Gold, Pepper and Zinc) on the Spot Market
Volatility by using the ARCH/GARCH technique. The empirical analysis points towards a rise in
the spot market volatility (for Aluminium, Gold, Pepper and Currency and not for Cardamom and
Zinc) after the introduction of the futures due to increased impact of information symmetry. It is
found that the underlying commodity responds more to the recent news. The lead lag and causal
relationship between the futures trading activity and spot market volatility is also examined. This
is done by using the GRANGER s CAUSALITY TEST.

German Propaganda and the effects on The Holocaust and WWII Propaganda in general is the
idea of getting others to believe in one s own beliefs. Propaganda is the attempt to influence
behavior...by affecting through the use of mass media of communications, the manner in which
a mass audience perceives and ascribes meaning to the material world. 1 Propaganda was a
major part of Germany s way to brain wash people into following Hitler and his army. The theme
of Hitler and Goebbels, (Paul Joseph Goebbels, was appointed Hitler s Reichspropagandaleiter, the

Propagandist use words that are bland and euphemistic. Special appeals are to accommodate
certain groups of people. The use of plain folks is to make the group believe that their ideas or
views are of the people 6. The band wagon use of propaganda is for people to think that since
everyone else is doing something, so should they. False connections leads to the technique of
transfer. Transfer constantly uses symbols and its main purpose is to carry over the authority,
sanction, and prestige of something we respect and revere to something the propagandist would
have us accept 7. The testimonial technique is when someone famous or someone that a person
respects says something and since they say it, well then that must be right, even if that person
has no real knowledge of the statement made. The question of bad logic or propaganda is that
there is logical and illogical conclusions. The propagandist deliberately manipulates logic in
order to promote their cause 8. Another part of logical fallacies is unwarranted extrapolation
which basically is when the communicator attempts to convince a person that a particular action
will lead to disaster or to utopia 9. Propaganda was spread in a variety of ways. Propaganda was
used in posters and leaflets. Leaflets were mostly spread by bomber airplanes. Sometimes the
leaflets were hung under balloons (with a release mechanism) and floated over enemy country10.

Freezing Point Depression Lab
The purpose of this lab was to determine the molecular mass of a compound by measuring the
freezing point depression. Freezing point depression is one concept discussed within this
experiment, additionally, in class too. Freezing point depression is a colligative property, which
refers to one that depends on the number of particles in a given volume of solvent, rather than on
the chemical nature of the particles. Another concept applied to this experiment is the cooling
curves, which for a pure solution does not plateau when the phase change occur, rather the rate at
which the temperaturedecreases becomes slower. The cooling curve for the pure solvent, on the
other hand, has a plateau because there is no solute within it that affects the temperature.... Show

having a legitimate legal running successful company to further your reputation as a highly

itself must have taken a lot of time and energy, and when the scheme was discovered, Bernie
stated that he alone ran his scheme. For someone that has no problem stealing money from his

be to protect the others that were involved. Is he really protecting them or is his ego so big that
he wants all the credit? That is a question that we will never have the answer to unless Bernie
himself answers it. But there is one person who has come forward. Frank DiPascali, the former

Washington Crossing The Delaware Analysis
Washington Crossing the Delaware is an oil on canvas painting by German American artist
Emanuel Gottlieb completed in 1851. This painting is used as a reference of the day when General
George Washington crosses the Delaware River with his continental army on the night of December
25, 1776, during the American Revolutionary War. This event is considered to be the first move in
a sudden attack done against the German Hessian allied mercenary forces at Trenton, New Jersey in
the Battle of Trentonwhich took place on the next morning of December 26th. Battle of Trenton was
a small but a major contribution in the American Revolutionary War. General Washington driven
the primary part of the continental armyagainst the hessian soldiers who surrounded the entire
Trenton after crossing the Delaware River on the night of December 25, 1776. The continental
army with least damage overpowered the hessian soldiers in a short battle with them. This short
battle greatly accelerated the continental army s flagging attribute and motivated re recruitments.
Gottlieb painted three versions of this painting out of which the original was a part of the
collection at the Kunsthalle in Bremen, Germany, and afterwards was destroyed in a bombing raid
in 1942 during World War II. The other two paintings, one of which is now in possession of The
Minnesota Marine Art Museum and another one is at Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

How Can Astrology And Horoscope Predictions Are Supposed...
Scientists examine how the world works by making observations, taking measurements, and testing
whether their ideas are supported by evidence. We pay attention to what is happening around us and
try to understand it. When we think we understand how two things relate to each other, we design
an experiment. In this paper, I m going to talk about whether astrologyand horoscope predictions
are supposed to be accurate. There are a number of people in our society who put some faith in
astrology. Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a
means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events, and horoscope is based
on the Ptolemaic system that the earth is stationary, and moves around the sun in fixed patterns.
Astrology divides the sky into twelve sections, with the different sign of the zodiac based on the
mythological characteristics of the heavenly bodies (Aries, Leo, Aquarius, Cancer, Taurus, Virgo,
Libra, Pisces, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Gemini, and Scorpio). Some astrologers believe that time of

A common claim is that horoscopic astrology make the pre assumption that our mind is connected
to the universe and read important characteristics about a person. Therefore, astrologists believe
that a person s behavior, emotions, and fate were heavily influenced by the month of that person s
birth. Most people reads a prediction that something interesting would happen, they will looking
forward for that to happen, somehow they have a convenience then that event is on the way. By
this cased, they might think that the predicted of astrology was true. This may be a little harsh
because horoscopes might be of some value if they were usually right or pretty close even they are

This is also remarkable because many other African Americans were being lynched for becoming
involved with a white woman, but Johnson being Johnson, he did not care about what others
thought about him seeing white women. After waiting and chasing Burns around, Johnson finally
got the opportunity to fight against Burns. The fight was in late 1908 and was also for the
heavyweight championship. While fighting, Johnson ended up beating up on Burns for the racial
comments that Burn was spitting out before the bought. Johnson would actually hold Burns up
when Burns would try to fall. This was so that he could deliver even more of a beating. Even the
crowd was yelling racial slurs, but Johnson would just smile and just beat on Burns even more. Jack
Johnson had become the heavyweight champion. White people were still not ready to call Johnson
their champion because they did not consider Burns the true champion since Johnson destroyed

Distribution is one of the most important aspects of marketing applications. Consumers are not
able to purchase them at a traditional store and different distribution channels are required. The
main channel for distributing FUV will be the Google, Amazon, Android, and Apple application

for advertising the app in their ads, FUV will advertise for the stores in the app. Banner ads will
feature different stores with the ad frequency mirroring the advertisement of FUV in the stores
own ads. Stores that offer a larger ad to FUV will be featured more often than those that only
supply a small ad space. Partner store coupons will also be offered within the app. These
coupons will be taken from stores print ads and will be available within the app. Coupons will be
displayed as product recommendations, as well as when a listed ingredient inventory is low or out

Supply chain Management
Initially, supply chain management will be extensive. Apps that are released and marketed just
before a new product, such as a new model of smartphone or tablet, is released experience a
higher than average number of downloads. The high volume of downloads can cause issues with
internal servers and data transfer (Cho, Lee, Quinlan, 2015). Remaining in contact with app stores
to ensure that FUV is downloading as it should will be vital to a successful launch. If the app data
is not sent to the correct app stores at the correct time, there may be a delay in the availability of

Moreover, these two political parties have been prominent in our government, and has influenced
American politics ever since. Over the decades, both political partisan changed many times their
platform due to previous events and other influences for example: war reasons and geographic
reasons. In present time, most Democrats supported liberal positions with the favored of federal
regulation of the economy, meanwhile several Republicans supported conservative positions with
the opposition of federal regulation of the economy. As the United Statespolitical parties turn more
extreme in their beliefs, the Republicans and Democrats find it impossible to cooperate... Show

In October 1, 2013, the United States federal government shutdown for 16 days after Congress
failed to make an appropriate budget for the fiscal year. A resolution was difficult since
Congress had several issues with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or commonly
known as the Obamacare Act . At that time period, the Republican Party controlled the House of
Representative, many disfavored the Affordable Care Act and wanted to add changes into it.
Unable to determined on an agreement on a budget for the fiscal year, costed loss of money and
debt. As explained before, the raising ideological polarization of the two parties as an outcome of
this was the United States government shutdowns. In Michele Swers article, The increasing
ideological polarization of the Republican and Democratic parties, it is stated that a major
contributor to the inability of Republicans and Democrats to bridge policy divides is the
increasing ideological polarization of the two parties (Swers). It mentions, that Research indicates
that gridlock becomes worse when the ideological distance between the House and Senate

How Does Domestic Terrorism Affect Our Lives
The role of domestic terrorism in American leads to the question: How does domestic terrorism
affect+ American lives. The definition of terrorism is . . . the calculated use of violence (or the
threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or
ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear (Domestic). One
purpose of this discussion is to show that the threats and acts of domestic terrorismmakes
Americans feel less safe in a free society. Domestic terrorism has a negative effect on American s
daily lives by revealing the weakness in food production; the homegrown terrorist; the fear of the
unknown lone wolf; the misconceptions of domestic terrorism; and the loss of civil liberties.

Monitoring of the masses instead of individual suspected terrorists threatens citizens privacy and
liberty. The answers are unclearНѕ the future remains uncertain. Much will depend on events and
reactions, especially concerning the frequency and intensity of future terrorist attacks by foreigners
on Americans and on American soil. Such uncertainty means that there will be an uneasy, and
changing, tension and balance between the demands of national security and the demands of
democracy. (Rosati). Depending on the level of fear some people will have to give up some of
their civil liberties to maintain the safety of the United States. There will more than likely be a
resistance to giving up freedom in exchange for security. When the emotion of fear drives
decisions; citizens could make irrational choices that would give more power to the government. In

Affordable Care Act, By President Obama
The Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010, fails to reach
the intended goal of being more affordable for those in the population who cannot afford health
insurance. The Affordable Care Act affects taxes, the out of pocket spending as well as the
national debt. Now, considering the word affordable is in the name of the act itself, it is very
contradicting that the Affordable Care Act is not very affordable . Affordable has a very
different meaning if you were to ask people across the nation. People in Montana for example,
the average salary in the state of Montana is $37,575, while in the state of New York, the average
salary is $52,330. People in Montana would see $25,000 a lot differently than people... Show more

Also, by forcing everyone to have health insurance, you put an extra burden on employers.
Employers not only now have to pay the employees, but they have to provide health insurance. If
health insurance is not provided, employers are forced to pay a fine. It should be the individual
person s responsibility to pay for themselves to be covered, not the employer s responsibility.
The individual mandate is the base of the Affordable Care Act which requires all Americans to
obtain health insurance. The fine for not having health insurance would be taken out of your
income tax for every month health insurance is not obtained. Sadly, there is only a small
window for signing up for this health insurance. There is a certain open enrollment period in
which people must sign up by, or they would have to wait until the next period. This means, if a
person were to miss the enrollment period, they would have to suffer the fine for the next
consecutive months until the next enrollment period. Since 2014, the fee has risen each year.
Therefore, Americans who struggle enough to live and couldn t afford the affordable health care
would suffer greatly due to the increased fines. An article published by a mix of doctors from
across the country shows how these fines are imposed. There are financial penalties in the form of
a new tax on individuals who fail to buy health

Analysis Of Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Truths Hawthorne s wilderness is exactly what its name implies: wild. It does not hold the same
rules or laws that Puritan civilization does. Instead it presents a myriad of situations and
emotions, which make it one of the most important symbols in The Scarlet Letter. However, there
is a twist. It doesn t just symbolize one thing, but two that are distinctly contrary to one another.
The forest can be a place of true nature where a person is shown as who they are supposed to be,
not who other people make them out to be. The forest can also be a place of uncovering the sin that
lies beneath everyone s mind. These purposes have one thing in common: the revelation of truths.
To the characters, the forest can be a place of solitude and separation that dismantles all of the strict
and artificial laws of man. It is here that Hester Prynne may undo the clasp that fastened the scarlet
letter, and, taking it from her bosom, threw it to a distance among the withered leaves (Hawthorne
138). The scarlet A is the epitome of unnatural and restricting guidelines set forth by man, yet
within the trees nothing of that kind matters. The forest has served as the setting of Hester s
liberation and has enabled the true form of her to be shown, albeit only to Dimmesdale and Pearl.
Through her actions, Hester has used this location to tear away the shackles of Puritanical
expectation and define who she really is by the only laws that matter, nature s.
The forest continues the attempt by

Santa Clause Creative Writing
Santa Clause leaned his head against the sled, letting out a long sigh. It had been a tough

what if I never reach all the kids on time or what if the kids begin to lose faith in me? So, he
quickly picked up his reins and gave them a slap, whoop, whoop, he called out to his reindeers,

candy canes, train sets, and teddy bears. His eyelids grew too heavy to keep them open, and his

Contemporary culture, however, plays a different role. As current contemporary movies, music,

national cultural identity , which almost always incorporates Chinese elements or Chinese
influence in some ways: in its language, practiced customs, art motifs, etc., as addressed. Vietnams

Chinese elements and quintessentially Vietnamese . However, in reality, the concept of Vietnamese
contemporary culture does not only include productions by Vietnamese people. As the Vietnamese
community reacts and corresponds to foreign cultural productions as engagingly as they do with
Vietnamese produced goods, this country s contemporary culture encompasses these alien
productions. In this context, culture is more easily categorizable. Additionally, making the first step
in protesting with contemporary culture is a logical movement. Unlike other goods exchangeable
economically, which can be manipulated to present as if from a different origin, Chinese
contemporary cultural productions take significantly distinct forms. As they are very

radioactive gas emitted as radium decays sealed in thin glass tubes, which, when placed inside
needles strategically positioned within patients bodies, could destroy diseased tissue. After the
war s end in November 1918, Curie also offered radiology courses to U.S. soldiers through the
Radium Institute. Marie Curie did radiotherapy services for those soldiers in war and this
destroyed the diseased tissue which helped them heal faster. Another example of this is She didn

The Importance Of The Declaration Of The Rights Of Man
The French Revolution, a time span of widespread social and political disturbance that lasted
about ten years from 1789 until 1799. During the period of the French Revolution, rights,
privilege, and freedom were topics to be spoken about. Rights was a topic that created such big
controversy because not all the laws that were put into work made sense and not all applied as they
said they would. Things like the Declaration of The Rightsof Man were released to that have many
laws referring to the freedom of man. Even with these laws being passed people still were not
content because many people were not incorporated. Citizens were said to be free of expression
in all ways possible, but only those who were considered to be citizens, and as said before not all
were included. Many who did not hold active power and contribution were also to be excluded
from these benefits that were provided with The Declaration of The Rights of Man. Along with that
there were also some religious differences within beliefs of others. Rights took a bewildering role
during the French Revolutionbecause when it came to the matter of freedom, the rights that were
given at the time would contradict their statements with many minority groups. During the first
year of the of the French Revolution, August 1789 and September 1790, the National Assembly
took in hand to create and build a new political society. In order to do that they took innovative
steps to make change. First, they got rid of noble and

How Is Tim Burton An Auteur Style
In the early days, the French word author is also known as auteur. The Auteur Theory proposes
that a film reflects the director s personal creative force behind their films. It differs one director
from the other, all giving out different creative ideas when making films. There are many
directors these days in the film industry. The one that has caught my attention and is still doing
so will have to be Tim Burton. With his famous odd looking glasses and multicolored lenses,
Timothy Walter Burton better know as Tim Burton is a well known, and very much successful
American film director, producer, artist, writer and animator. He has a certain kind of consistency
in his films, the kind that keeps up with his theme so to say. He is well known for his dark, gothic
and quirky fantasies which are often portrayed in his movies. His movies are usually very twisted
and unexpected which makes it all the more interesting. Growing up, Burton s parents had a very

His work s style, genre and theme makes it iconic and an expressive form of who he is. Take
Edward Scissorhands (1990) for example, who in the right mind would have ever thought about
a character like that? Not only how he appeared to be but also the characteristics that he
portrayed as the character. I feel that Tim Burton has come up with ideas that most people will
think it makes no sense. He takes them and makes them as characters in movies. Many of Burton
s movies have similar distinctive characteristics and techniques, which can be shown in most or
all of his productions. In the past years, Burton has developed many films that are based on his
own unique personal style, being recognized by the film industry as The Work of Tim Burton .
(Rowe, 2013) It is safe to say that Tim Burton is indeed an auteur as people can instantly recognize

Acousmatic Sounds In Cinema
Acousmatic sounds in cinema are those sounds that are present without a visible source. The
sounds are aural elements used in the film and embody a spatial quality within themselves.
Acousmatic and non acousmatic sounds are essential in cinema because they provide the spectator
with a better understanding of the filmthrough both visuals and sound. Michel Chion explores the
idea of the acousmatic soundin his essay The Voice in Cinema where he talks about Acousmatic
sounds in conjunction with religion where the priests/ religious leaders would often sit behind a
curtain and deliver speeches. Chion draws ideas from Psychoanalysis and connects it with
acousmatic sounds. In the context of psychoanalysis, the therapist s voice is a substitute of an
acousmatic sound when the patient is in a state of hypnosis. The idea of an acousmatic sound
can be understood with the example of a radio. The voice of a radio jockey is acousmatized since
it doesn t have a visible source but the presence of the radio jockey helps us to imagine a kind of
presence through the medium of sound. Chion points out that if we study a film by only listening
to the sound and removing the visuals, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

acousmetre is both psychological and mechanical. It comes into being , through Karthik s actions

Because I Could Not Stop For Death By Emily Dickinson
Because I Could Not Stop for Death by Emily Dickinson is a lyrical poem that contains six
stanzas with each having four lines. This poem is about an individual that did not wait for Death,
thus Death waited for her. Death, with Immortality as a chaperone, picks up the speaker and leads
her through a journey of life. They slowly drive by schools, fields, and the setting sun, reminiscing
the activities and trials of life. At the end, they stop at a grave. Here, the speaker realizes that
centuries have passed since her death, yet it Feels shorter than [a] Day (Dickinson 21 22). Through
various literary devices, such as tone, personification, imagery, and metaphor, the author depicts
the uncertainty, the inevitability, and ultimately the acceptance with death. Dickinson s
Because I Could Not Stop for Death tells a story of Death taking a woman on a journey through
life, evoking a pleasant tone. In the beginning, the speaker is hesitant to follow Death, but after
seeing Death s kindness she decides to get in the carriage. She is even delighted saying she put
away/ [her] labor and [her] leisure for Death (Dickinson 6 7). The speaker is so pleased to go
with Death that she even forgets to put on appropriate clothes for the weather, for she was only
wearing ... [a] Gossamer, ... gown/ ... Tippet ... [and] Tulle on the rainy day (Dickinson 15 16). As
the poem closes, there is a slight change in the tone. The speaker admits that when she boarded the

Analysis Of The Book The Magical Realism
1.The novel fits the description of magical realism because a lot of the concept in Bless Me,
Ultima seems realistic but at the same time some of the other concepts seem much exaggerated,
they are like images that can be imagined in our head, but in the book these things actually
happen in life. Oh, our sweet baby, we are coming home to you Aghhhhhhh! My brothers! I
screamed. I bolted up and found myself in bed. My body was wet with sweat, and my lips were
trembling. I felt a heavy sorrow gagging my heart, and it was hard to breath. Outside I heard the
owl cry in alarm. Someone was coming up the goat path. I jumped into my pants and raced out
into the cold night. There just coming over the slope of the hill were three dark figures (page 61
and 62). This excerpt from the book shows how Antonio was having a dream of his brothers and
that they were coming home but, when Antonio woke up, he realized that his brothers were
really home. In a way his dream was a way of foreshadow. 2.3.In Bless Me, Ultima the owls are
symbolic because the owl symbolizes Ultima s spirit. It was true that the owl was Ultima s
spirit. It had come with Ultima, and as men brought evil to our hills the owl had hovered over us,
protecting us (page 256). This extract from the book shows how the owl connected with Ultima
because the owl was an emblem of Ultima. In the book Ultima s owl plays the role of her spirit, It
was true that the owl was Ultima s spirit. It had come with

example the hang clean and jerk. Many athletes use this exercisefor upper and lower body strength.
From the starting position the barbell with weights on each side is at rest on the ground and by the

Most of the time when athletes are performing this exercise the weight being moved is extremely
high and heavy for example anywhere for 150 pound to 400 pounds. Nobody can really just use
pure strength to move that kind of weight above their body. Momentum is your best friend which
is gonna help you finish this exercise along with the ability of your strength obviously. To finish
the lift you will bend at your knees again not to where you squat all the way down but to where
you can feel yourself building up enough momentum to jerk the weight up above you. Finally you
should stomp your feet against the floor to finish the momentum jerk press portion of this lift. Now
the lift is complete and the barbell should be high above your body and with the lift safely
performed. This exercise will help with lower body strength with the squating motion and upper
body strength with the getting under the bar part. This builds core strength and pressing strength
which is outstanding for athletes in many sports such as football, wrestling, baseball, boxing, etc.

  • 2. Informant Vs Preliminary Hearing The case that I received was a case that has to do with the disclosure of information by the prosecutor in court. A federal agent had caught a man selling drugs during an undercover operation. The prosecutor had instructed the agent not to mention information about an informant during the preliminary hearing.(Garland,2012)The question with this is whether or not this act was unconstitutional. This is unconstitutional because all information should be included and none disclosed for the preliminary hearing or any trial. The prosecution wanted to disclose the information about the informant because it was not needed in the preliminary hearing. The Gale Encyclopedia said that The hearing is conducted to determine whether there is sufficient ... Job satisfaction, the most widely studied work attitude, is then discussed. We look at job satisfaction among Canadians, the effects of job satisfaction on work behaviour, and new п¬Ѓndings regarding the relationship between job satisfaction and employee performance and customer satisfaction. The next section provides an overview of organizational commitment, including the types of commitment, consequences of commitment, and ways to build affective commitment. Organizational commitment is strongly influenced by trust and the psychological contract, so the п¬Ѓnal section of this chapter looks at the meaning and elements of both concepts. EMOTIONS IN THE WORKPLACE The tragic events of September 11, 2001, in the United States are permanently etched in our minds. The four hijacked planes and the collapse of the World Trade Center towers evoked a variety of emotions in people, such as anger, sadness, and fear. • 4. Burial In Sophocles Antigone In Sophocles play Antigone, two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices fight for the thrown of Thebes. The war comes to an end when both brothers die fighting for the honor, and their uncle Creon becomes the king of Thebes. Upon his coronation, Creon issues a decree that Eteocles, the former king of Thebes, will be honored with a traditional military burial, while his brother Polynices will be left unwept, unburied, a lovely treasure for birds that scan the field and feast to their heart s content (Sophocles, 60). Antigone, one of the two sisters, outraged by this ruling, takes matters into her own hands and goes against this newly established law by properly burying her brother. Ultimately Antigone sets aside the political law and does what s morally right by honoring her brother with a traditional burial. I will argue that Antigone s decision to bury her brother was the right decision. While she may have disobeyed the law put in place by the newly appointed inexperienced king of Thebes, she was in turn honoring her brother and the long standing traditions and expectations of the g ds, principles much more important than the arbitrary laws of the state. I would argue that most importantly, Creon s law was arbitrary. Creon says in a discussion he has with Haemon, Am I to rule this land for others or myself? after a short dialogue back and forth where Haemon argues that a city is not owned by one man alone, Creon declares that The city is the king s that s the law ... • 5. Ethics in the Editing Business The Ethics of Editing In the editing business, there are particular ethical codes that should be adhered to by all those involved in the profession. Professional editors Tod Roberts and Mary Schendlinger both suggest that some of the most fundamental principles of ethics in editing include the editor s responsibility to the writers, to society/readers, and to the editing profession itself. An editor s objective is to adequately balance the writer s needs, the industry s standards, and the reader s expectations so as to produce a story that satisfies all three. One of the very important ethical codes that editors should always remember is to treat all writers and their works with respect equally. Authors have their own unique styles, forms of writing, and voice and that should not be diminished as long as it does not directly impact the writing in a negative manner. An editor s responsibility to polish and refine a writing. They will help guide a story s focus along a certain path and direct the audience s to major points that they need to be aware of. Editors also cut out extraneous parts that prove to be nonessential to the story s purpose. At the same time, editors must always consider the writer s feelings or opinions and should always use tact when making suggestions so as to reduce the possibility of discord between the author and the editor. When such disagreements do arise, the editor must attempt to reach a compromise with the author. Editors do often have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Potato- An Important Vegetable The potato is one of history s most important vegetables, although initially reluctant Europeans quickly became dependent on the plant. Most of the educated class saw the potato s potential and raised it in their gardens before the more superstitious lower classes. The lower classes feared the myths of night shades and plagues and the encouragement from God was the only sign to begin growing potatoes (Zuckerman 49). Some farmers believed this crop to be an aphrodisiac, others saw it as the cause of fever and leprosy. In meat loving England, urban workers and considered potatoes to have an extreme distaste. The critic, Denis Diderot wrote in his EncyclopГ©die in 1765 his stance on the potato. He stated that it wasn t a pleasant food, though abundant, and adequately nourished those who didn t care about anything except sustenance (Zuckerman 73). The Europeans had strong opinions about the potato and it would have to take a lot of convincing to change their minds. The European government knew the potato could develop and effect the economy in a positive way, they only needed to find a way to encourage the lower classes to grow the vegetable. The EncyclopГ©die went on to convoke the public by saying say the potato caused intestinal gas but opined that this was no drawback for laborers or peasants, whose robust insides could withstand the disturbance better than those of more refined folk (Zuckerman 74). In 1662, the Royal Society recommended the cultivation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Tax Reform In Australia Introduction In the article Tax reform =Growth, the author Rory Meakin (2012) suggests that Australia has a good tax system but it still has its problems. He compares the tax system between Britain and Australia as well, and discusses the importance for the government to change its approach of raising taxes to make it cheaper, fairer and more legitimate in Australia. The article outlines the complexities of the taxation system in the country, which resulted to the lost of its legitimacy since many people do not understand how much they should pay. It advises the need for the government to make the tax system to be as neutral as possible by eliminating complications that will add confusion to its approach. The journal name tax reform equals to growth and he totally agrees that raising the tax and keeping the tax neutral is the better way to face the tax problems nowadays. Main body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author firstly points out the problems of tax system. Too complicated, too many special allowances and specific taxes, and too much money drained out of the pockets of working Australians. The author cites many examples, such as national insurance, tax accountancy guides called ToUey s, the Byzantine complexity, the final report, The Single Income Tax, to state the necessity to propose a very radical yet necessary change to how the government raises taxes, aimed at making the system cheaper, fairer and more legitimate. The cost of complexity is high and, in addition, complexity has led to the tax system having lost legitimacy as many people do not even really understand how much tax they should pay, let alone how much others should pay. That opacity, a direct consequence of complexity, inevitably leads many to suspect others of not paying their fair share. Data is listed to support the view that the complicity of tax system has damaged the legitimacy of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. An Explanation Of The Word Ghetto Nicole, I really enjoyed your post. The word ghetto stems from when European cities in which the Jews were restricted, and later used to describe a slum section of an American city, predominantly occupied by a minority group who live under social and economic pressures. The word represents an institutional and historical basis of racial exclusion. The word ghetto also has a particular racial component, and defines those associated with the word as being represented by social isolation, residential segregation, gross inequality, consistent poverty, and crime. Delinquent behavior from those considered to be poor or lower class may actually be a protest against the norms and values of the middle class, per theorist Cohen. In addition, their ... • 10. King Kong Comparison Essay The original 1933 King Kong was created as a movie: to convey a story and entertain and audience. Peter Jackson s 2005 remake took the foundation for King Kong and expanded upon it in almost every way in order to make again the amazement of the original for a modern audience. Audiences received the original King Kongvery well. The stop motionsequences of Kong were amazing for their time and the movie grossed $90,000 in its opening weekend. In order to bank upon its success again sequels were made and then in 1976 a remake was made to improve upon the original. Paramount updated the movie to color, changed the story, and cast Jeff Bridges, a well known actorof the time, as the lead. Although the movie received mixed reviews, it did... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Jackson s remake is true to the original for the most part, there are some small changes made in order to make the movie more appealing. In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely places. Studios know that if a movie does well the first time, it is likely to do well the second time and even the third time. King Kong is no exception. Producers can presume that the glory of the original will pass on to the remake since audiences hope for that feeling again. Whether the movie is better or not doesn t matter. Audiences will go to see King Kong over the years because the remakes are associated with the original. Every King Kong remake is based on the same principles: wanting to create a movie that will capture audiences and instill in them a sense of wonderment and awe. The original did this and the remakes try to do it again. Directors, producers, and studios may change the story, update the actors and technology but they are essentially just trying to cash in on the success of the original. My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because of its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because I lacked the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my reading comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never been an enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the events that went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because I ThoughtI would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would mainly like to thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and was quite easy to follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a few authors that wrote big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of myself for finishing this book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I never did. Yet, being forced to read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bitof enjoyment out of it. Without the great descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would have been quite boring and hard to read. The author did a splendid job of clearly describing each event thoroughly enough to make it almost like I was in David s shoes. My favorite part of the book was when David got off the ... • 12. Overtime Character Analysis Many people in life do not sit and think about the consequences that would be the outcome of their actions. Upon approaching this show, people would see that it is just another superhero show where the hero beats the bad guy. In a sense, it is that kind of show, but the show is more than those stereotypical hero stories. Throughout Arrow, the protagonist Oliver Queen has problem accepting for what he has become. Overtime, Oliver was forced to live a rough life because he found himself trapped on an island; his rough experience of trying to survive changed him into a type of person who would easily kill a person without a second thought. This resulted into an upbringing of an enemy named Slade. Slade wanted to get revenge and try to kill Oliver loved ones as a duty towards the other person. Slade then forced to choose between the life between his mother or sister. In society, nobody should decide who should live or die. • 13. The Island Is Small, The North Shore Is Part Of A Huge... Although Staten Island is small, the North Shore is part of a huge project coming up. Next to the Saint George Terminal, Richard Marin is looking to create the Empire Outlets, and the New York Wheel, a 630 foot tall Ferris wheel. When Marin started discussing the development project, he already had nearly 200 million dollars set, however, still needed to work out how he was going to get the other 300 million dollars (Hughes, 2015). An article in the New York Post, written by Associated Press (2014), explains that the main goal of this reconstruction is to make Staten Islanda place for tourism. The article discusses the fact that millions of people ride the ferry, which is already a main tourist attraction. However, the tourist are not spending any money or time on the Island because they are all going into Manhattan. The goal of the ferris wheel and the shopping complex being created, is to keep tourist occupied during their stay (Press, 2014). Although Staten Island is already over populated and bringing in more people will have the area feeling congested, this is an ideal way of employing hundreds of people. The New York CityEconomic Development Corporation, states that this project is expecting to create at least four hundred construction jobs and four hundred permanent jobs, ultimately helping the economy grow. These make achieving goals much easier, and in the end, it leads to success by completing the tasks needed to get towards the goal, whether that be obtaining food or conquering an entire continent. In Golding s Lord of the Flies, a lack of mutual respectbetween the leaders and followers as well as the failure to unite themselves to worktogether for the same goals, resulted in chaos, and ultimately, the division and failure of their society on the island. • 15. Comparing Gothic Churches Vs. Freque Churches I personally found Gothic style churches to be more architecturally appealing than the Romanesque ones. The reason for this is Gothic churches were filled with light and thin, towering walls. These characteristics were very uncommon for the dark, thick structures of Romanesque architecture. The structure was able to be filled with such light due to three very important architectural elements. These elements include pointed arches, ribbed vaulting, and buttresses. Thanks to these elements stained glass windows were added to Gothic cathedrals. The translucent walls were more than just decoration. The windows allowed for the illiterate public to interact with Christian scripture. Overall in my opinion the elements of Gothic architectureis better than the Romanesque architecture. Gothic architectural structures were thin, light filled, towering structures. Romanesque architectural structures were dark, thick, and short. The new Gothic style created the light filled and towering looks by replacing elements of Romanesque churches. The style replaced round arches with pointed arches that weren t limited to width and height. It also moved the massive piers of Romanesque churches to the exterior. This created flying buttresses which are stone arms that braced the nave walls. This allowed for the walls to be filled with glass instead of masonry. Masonry was a huge characteristic of Romanesque architecture. These churches were filled with paintings and mosques on the walls. There was no need for light to fill the churches because the public didn t use them only monks. This changed in the Gothic period and the public was finally allowed access to the churches. • 16. Leadership Is Important When Conducting A Organization,... Leadership is important when conducting a organization, program, or event. There are many changes in educational organizations. The article talks about how educational organizations can adjust to change and what it takes to implement change. Change is always good especially with the changes of time. Technology is way more advance in the millieum era then it was in the 1990 s so changing educational organizations should arrange with the advancement of the era. Educational organizations that are behind with advancement could possibly fail and not succeed with a lack of participants. According to Martincic They are incited by a number of factors: technological advancement, changed expectations and needs of the clients, changemarket conditions, changing of legistration, changed social values etc. (p.g 1). The article also goes into detail about being able to come together and take intination in developing a plan to create change. When individuals want to implement change they have to develop not only a plan but also have resources and a committee or team. Therefore more then one idea or suggestion will make the plan worthwhile of pursuing. Individuals who would want change also have to reach out to stakeholders and politicians. Politicans are on the forefront of reaching a lot of people. History proves a person cannot vote until they are 18 years of age, could not drink until they were 18, which has risen to 21. A person must be 18 years of age to buy cigarettes, and all males under federal law must sign up for the draft and potentially could give up their life defending this great nation. By virtue of turning 18 years old, a person inherits so many responsibilities which apply across most of the country, many of these responsibilities explained by Cynthia D. Moreover, to ensure the United States sends a clear message to other nations, Article 27 of the North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC) includes child labor laws to ensure the safety of other children (SIROEN, 2013). Despite the fact the United States creates laws to protect children both home and our trade partners in various nations, enforcing such standards is extremely hard. In order to enforce these standards, it would mean constant surveillance of our trade partners to guarantee compliance. Furthermore, by limiting the type of job a child can perform solely based on age is having negative effects on manufacturers here in the United States, and is part of the issue with adults working jobs paying minimum wage. Adjusting the current age requirements before a child is able to gain employment experience will cause havoc and lead to adverse effects. Children today, are not being held accountable and many feel society owes them a way of life. What Plato Meant by the Form of the Good Essay What Plato Meant by the Form of the Good The basis of Plato s philosophy is his theory of Ideas, or doctrine of Forms while the notion of Forms is essential to Plato s philosophy, over years of philosophical study, it has been difficult to understand what these Forms are supposed to be, and the purpose of their existence. When examining Plato s forms and evaluating the theory, some conclusions have proved to be unclear and unanswered. However, the doctrine of Forms is essential to Plato s philosophy. Plato came to his view of the Forms based on two premises: first that knowledge cannot come through the senses; and second, we do nevertheless manage to know things in mathematics, for instance.... The slaves know nothing of reality except the one of which they are presented as the Sun, which represents the Form of the Good is outside the cave but the slaves have no idea of its existence. One day a prisoner is released from his shackles and goes up to the upper part of the cave and sees the fire and the objects, which are casting the shadows, and he also sees the sun and is blinded by this higher form of reality. Plato believed that the way to find or realise true reality is not through gathering empirical evidence or through deep scientific tests such as studying the shadows to determine what they are. But rather that in order to break the chains we can only do so through inner contemplation or philosophical investigation in order to ascend out of the cave and see the sun which gives light to all the forms. For every sense object in the empirical world, there is a corresponding perfect Form. These Forms are non physical, permanent, eternal, and invisible. How then, you may ask, can one ever know of the Forms if they cannot be known by sense perception? Plato answers this question by stating that the Forms are known in thought. They are the objects of thought, therefore, whenever you are thinking, you are thinking of Forms. Monarch butterflies depend solely on the milkweed plant to survive. Milkweed, however, has been disappearing like crazy due especially to increased use of the weed killer Roundup over the past ten to twenty years. That, combined with more general trends of habitat loss, various effects of climate change, and challenges like the drought in California, has spelled out around a ninety percent population decline for monarchs in the past twenty years. • 22. The Three Tales of Cymbeline Essay The Three Tales of Cymbeline Cymbeline has always been a difficult play to categorize. The original collection of Shakespeare s plays, quot; The First Folio quot; (published in 1623), classifies it as a tragedy; modern editors have revised that to comedy, and to distinguish it further from other comedies, it is also referred to, along with The Tempest, The Winter s Tale, and Pericles, as a romance. Of course, like so many other plays of Shakespeare, these classifications are only guidelines rather than definitions, for an attempt to analyze a work of art according to somewhat arbitrary classifications is to diminish the very essence its originality that makes it a work of art. The danger to Imogen s life by her husband s jealous action is as real as is Desdemona s fate, thus propelling the play to the edge of tragedy. Unlike Iago, however, Iachimo (the similarity of their names is interesting) repents (he is even ready to accept death as his punishment) and is then forgiven by the generous Posthumus. The theme of forgiveness is characteristic of Shakespeare s romances Hermione s forgiveness of Leontes is one of the most beautiful moments of The Winter s Tale, and Prospero s decision to return to his kingdom is itself a forgiveness of the wrongs done him. Another staple of romantic epics is the story of lost and found children. Often, the lost child is a girl, but sometimes, as Shakespeare chooses here, the children may be boys. The Guiderius Arviragus story includes the tale of Belarius, the quot;supposed father quot; who is drawn from the quot;rusticated courtier quot; of pastoral romance. By deciding to make Belarius a hunter and not a shepherd (as he does with the adoptive father of Perdita in The Winter s Tale), Shakespeare permits the credibility of Guiderius and Arviragus as fighters in the defense of their country. In Imogen s taking of the quot;poison, quot; Shakespeare employs a standard device of Greek romance which called for the supposed death of a beloved woman; it is a device that he uses in his tragedies (Romeo ... His whole book explains why he did not believe in the existence of witches. One quote from his book states his key argument: If witches could do any such miraculous things, as these and other which are imputed to them, they might do them again and again, at any time or place, or at any man s desire: for the devil is as strong at one time as at another, as busy by day as by night, and ready enough to do all mischief, and careth not whom he abuseth (Scot). This performance has significance because it already creates a connection between James VI and The Tempest. This also showed that Shakespeare was willing to have his play performed, where there the protagonist was royalty that recreationally used magic, in front of someone who was known for having people accused and killed for witchcraft. Since Shakespeare was usually commissioned by royals to write his plays and was an English citizen, he more than likely had an inkling that the play would first be performed for James VI s court. This is not the only coincidence that proves Shakespeare based The Tempest, if only partly, off of James VI and his crimes against his own citizens. The first performance of the play was actually presented as a part of James VI s daughter s wedding ceremonies. It was performed at court during the marriage celebrations of James I s daughter Elizabeth, the future Winter Queen of Bohemia, in 1613 (Cavendish). This is significance is in the fact that the two main characters in the play are an exiled king and his daughter. More than coincidently, Shakespeare s main characters were a father daughter duo. The Tempest was also one of Shakespeare s comedies in that it involved little to no death and ended with a marriage (in this play s case an engagement). The choice of a comedy that ended in an engagement for James VI s daughter s wedding ceremony proves that Shakespeare had more reason for choosing the play to perform to James VI than simply deciding to perform it because it was his latest creation. An Introduction To Private Health Insurance INTRO Private health Insurance is a $1.42 billion (before tax) industry in Australia (Seah, 2012) and has played a prominent role in the country s health system for over 60 years. As of 2009, 51per cent of the Australian population was covered by some form of private health insurance. Private health insurance is a regulated industry; this means it is controlled by government legislation under the Private Health Insurance Act (2007). Private health insurers are required to register under this Act, and the policies they sell must adhere to these regulations (Shamsullah, 2011). Due to the size and regulation of the industry managers in the sector may face many complex challenges. Complex management has been around for thousands of years. Basic management tools that were used in the past have formed the foundations of the theories that have shaped today s management practices. One of the major challenges in today s organisational environments is the interconnectedness of all management aspects. When I was younger, my dad put me through music school hoping that I would learn to play the pianobecause he wished he did when he was my age. I was not a big fan of playing the piano so I struggled most of the time. My fingers were so stiff and my instructor would request that I moisturize and massage them to make them more flexible. However, the underlying issue was my lack of interest and not my un cooperating fingers. For some, Music is a way to express how they feel. People see through a person with the sound of music. Since I really had no interest in the piano, I decided to take a look at other instruments. My passion for music was decreasing as I could not find an instrument that my hands found pleasure in. Anyway, if you are someone who likes sports or history of sports, then you should read Jack: Jack Johnsonand the Era of White Hopes because it gives a description as to how a young African Americancame to rise to the top at a time where this was unheard of. This is also remarkable because many other African Americans were being lynched for becoming involved with a white woman, but Johnson being Johnson, he did not care about what others thought about him seeing white women. After waiting and chasing Burns around, Johnson finally got the opportunity to fight against Burns. The fight was in late 1908 and was also for the heavyweight championship. While fighting, Johnson ended up beating up on Burns for the racial comments that Burn was spitting out before the bought. Johnson would actually hold Burns up when Burns would try to fall. This was so that he could deliver even more of a beating. Even the crowd was yelling racial slurs, but Johnson would just smile and just beat on Burns even more. Jack Johnson had become the heavyweight champion. White people were still not ready to call Johnson their champion because they did not consider Burns the true champion since Johnson destroyed him. Even after Johnson won the heavyweight championship, places did not like having him around. For example, while traveling around the country to celebrate his victory, hotels would not let Johnson stay in them. Instead it presents a myriad of situations and emotions, which make it one of the most important symbols in The Scarlet Letter. However, there is a twist. It doesn t just symbolize one thing, but two that are distinctly contrary to one another. The forest can be a place of true nature where a person is shown as who they are supposed to be, not who other people make them out to be. The forest can also be a place of uncovering the sin that lies beneath everyone s mind. These purposes have one thing in common: the revelation of truths. To the characters, the forest can be a place of solitude and separation that dismantles all of the strict and artificial laws of man. It is here that Hester Prynne may undo the clasp that fastened the scarlet letter, and, taking it from her bosom, threw it to a distance among the withered leaves (Hawthorne 138). The scarlet A is the epitome of unnatural and restricting guidelines set forth by man, yet within the trees nothing of that kind matters. The forest has served as the setting of Hester s liberation and has enabled the true form of her to be shown, albeit only to Dimmesdale and Pearl. The sounds are aural elements used in the film and embody a spatial quality within themselves. Acousmatic and non acousmatic sounds are essential in cinema because they provide the spectator with a better understanding of the filmthrough both visuals and sound. Michel Chion explores the idea of the acousmatic soundin his essay The Voice in Cinema where he talks about Acousmatic sounds in conjunction with religion where the priests/ religious leaders would often sit behind a curtain and deliver speeches. Chion draws ideas from Psychoanalysis and connects it with acousmatic sounds. In the context of psychoanalysis, the therapist s voice is a substitute of an acousmatic sound when the patient is in a state of hypnosis.
