How Do Driverless Cars Persuasive Essay
Mercedes Benz, Audi, and Nissan plan to have cars that can drive themselves by 2020 . Driverless
cars has been apart of the human imagination for quite awhile now, proof being in popular science
fiction. It wasn t until the early 2000 s that modern technology was ready take this very imaginative
idea and turn it into a reality. Many companies have been working on driverless cars and are seeing
quite the success. Although driverless cars are a step in the right direction of developing extremely
useful technology, I feel driverless cars should not be given to the public because it will completely
change society in many ways. Google co founder, Sergey Brin, has a vision for a future with a public
transport taxi system that uses driving cars. In this future no one will need to buy cars because there
will be taxis to take people everywhere. In this future people will not have the need to learn to drive
because technology will be so advance that cars have the ability to drive themselves. While this will
have an effect on society as a whole, it will have the biggest impact on adolescence. The priority of
adolescence as they get older will not be as focused on the hard working nature of wanting to learn
how to drive and making money to buy a car. In a world where driverless cars are available to the
public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If driverless cars become available to the public, we will be one step closer to letting the technology
we are creating ruin our lives. With these cars taking over the need to learn to drive, people will began
to demand other technology to be developed that will take over the need for us to do mundane tasks. If
we get so dependent where we need technology to do everyday tasks for us, developing better
technology will become the center of our universe. Although driverless cars will lead to the
destruction of our world, developing this technology is a good

The Fluidity of the American Civil War
The American Civil War, widely known in the United States as simply the Civil War as well as other
sectional names, was a civil war fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union or
independence for the Confederacy. Among the 34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states
individually declared their secession from the United States and formed the Confederate States of
America. The Confederacy, often simply called the South, grew to include eleven states, and although
they claimed thirteen states and additional western territories, the Confederacy was never
diplomatically recognized by a foreign country. The states that remained loyal and did not declare
secession were known as the Union or the North. The war had ... Show more content on

Slavery was the central source of escalating political tension in the 1850s. The Republican Party was
determined to prevent any spread of slavery, and many Southern leaders had threatened secession if
the Republican candidate, Lincoln, won the 1860 election. After Lincoln had won without carrying a
single Southern state, many Southern whites felt that disunion had become their only option, because
they thought that they were losing representation, which would hamper their ability to promote pro
slavery acts and policies.
Root causes
Slavery. Contemporary actors, the Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both
sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to
emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as an integral part
of it. From the anti slavery perspective, the issue was primarily about whether the system of slavery
was an anachronistic evil that was incompatible with Republicanism in the United States. The strategy
of the anti slavery forces was containment to stop the expansion and thus put slavery on a path to
gradual extinction. The slave holding interests in the South denounced this strategy as infringing upon
their Constitutional rights. Southern whites believed that the emancipation of slaves would destroy the
South s economy because of the alleged laziness of blacks under free labor.

Summary Of Arthur Ashe s Contract Days Of Grace
In the memoir Days of Grace by Arthur Ashe himself, Arthur struggles with a terminal disease he
contracted through something out of his control. Unfortunately, he was burdened by an incurable
disease, but this did not stop him from living his life. Arthur acknowledges that he is mortal and will
probably die sooner than he would have without the disease. However, through a strong relationship
with God, he acts gratefully in every situation, embraces life, and does not take small things for
granted. Even after contracting AIDS, he continues to speak out against other issues that have always
been important to him. He does not let AIDS hold him back. Arthur Ashe contracted a terminal disease
at a fairly young age, but instead of denying his mortality and becoming bitter like most others would
have done, he embraced his situation and used his experience with the disease to help fight the cause.
Over the course of his life, the wildly successful and renowned tennis player, Arthur Ashe,
accomplished many honorable things both on and off the court. Because of him, other African

she makes a distinction between good denial and bad denial. The latter is when I walked around with a

dwell on the idea of death, or even to accept as fact the notion that I will die soon from heart disease

Comparing The Creation Stories Of Ancient Israelite Views...
Compare and contrast the creation stories in Enuma Elish and in Genesis. In particular, assess what
this comparative work tells us about ancient Israelite views of God and God s creative work.
Genesis 1, the first chapter in the bible, is easily the most well known creation story to come out of the
Ancient Near East. However, that does not mean that it was the only creation story to come out of that
period. The Babylonian epic, the Enuma Elish was one such story. It is in essence a history of the
Babylonian gods, and in particular, one god, Marduk. It was ultimately written to justify his rise to
power as the head of the Babylonian pantheon of gods. This was done in order to support Babylon s
claim to pre eminence above all the other cities in the country (Heidel 1963, p. 14). Despite emerging
from the same period, the two texts are starkly different. The former portrays an all powerful,
transcendent, monotheistic God, while the latter describes a polytheistic hierarchy of gods who reach
their ends through violence and conflict. The differences between the Enuma Elish and Genesis 1 are
so vast and endless that there is no real reason to discuss about their literary dependence or
mythological similarities (EOR, p. 2811). Rather, the Enuma Elish is better enlisted as a tool of
comparison in order to highlight the utterly different and radical nature of the ancient Israelite religion
as compared to the common religious beliefs circulating the Near East. While there are

The Conservative Heart Analysis
Arthur Brooks book The Conservative Heart How to Build a Fairer, Happier and More Prosperous
America represents a challenge to the established view of Conservatives and Republicans regarding
America s social issues. Many Americans feel caught between two dispiriting political choices:
ineffective compassion on one hand and heartless pragmatism on the other. While
Democrats/Progressives have always provided this ongoing narrative of party who were once the
champions of the underprivileged; collapsed in the 2016 elections. The Progressive message was
clearly understood as identity politics not the champions of the underdog as promised. However,
Conservatives who can provide the better solutions to poverty were tagged with a variety of labels,
such as non compassionate or out of touch. Conservatives have been notoriously marked as the
country club concerned about their own wealth preservation. Unfortunately, until the 2016 election,
conservatives failed to message their solutions to America s poverty. I personally felt that the author
spent an exceeding amount of time discussing and outlining the Doe Fund and its impact. I felt that the
author was idealistic at best in putting forward a reasonable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Functions Of An Efficient Portfolio
A. Portfolio; feasible set; efficient portfolio; efficient frontier
A portfolio is a group of financial assets, differing in possible risk and return, and is managed by an
investor or a group of professionals. Generally, a higher return expected by a portfolio owner
generates a higher risk as well, and vice versa. The mix of financial assets can range, and these can
include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and cash equivalents. Stocks are considered the most volatile of
these options and thus generate the highest return/highest risk, with bonds being one of the safer
options, which only generate a low return/low risk.
A feasible set of portfolios refers to the possible combinations of financial assets that an investor can
have, according to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to portfolios with less diversification, which tend to be sub optimal and below the curve,
the efficient frontier curve outlines diversified portfolios that are optimal. This is depicted by the
graph attached.
{See Graph 1}
As outlined in the example diagram provided by YoungResearch, the efficient frontier adequately
demonstrates the impact of diversification, showing how it is a factor in determining the curve s
optimal portfolios, determined by the amounts of risk (measured by standard deviation of annual
returns) and return (average of annual returns). For example, a portfolio with only 100% stocks would
generate a large return of 12.5%, though also a large risk of 17%. This is the opposite to a portfolio of
100% bonds, where the return would be smaller at 9%, though with significantly less risk at
approximately 9%. Consider the bundle with 10% risk and 10.75% return, which is the one composed
of 50% stocks and 50% bonds. This may be viewed as a more favorable option for the investor, as
return is higher than a portfolio with only bonds, though with less risk, compared to a portfolio with
only stocks.
{See Graph 2}
B. Indifference curve; optimal portfolio
Indifference curves represent the utility the consumer would obtain as a function of certain variables.
In portfolio theory, this would mean utility as a function of both expected returns and standard

How Does Romeo Change Throughout The Tempest
At the end of William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, the main protagonist is faced with the subject of
whether or not he can return to his dukedom of Milan a good leader. In the beginning, Prospero s
brother, Antonio, dethrones Prospero as he lost sight of the limit of the power he possessed. Becoming
obsessed and primarily focused on his studies of magic, Prosperous gave the management of his
domain to Antonio in order to keep the nation running. Antonio soon took on a larger role in the
government, breaking the screen between a proxy to Prospero and the true duke to Milan.
Overthrown, Prospero was cast away to a desert island where he would spend the next ten years
awaiting his return to Milan. While on the island Prosperous has a change of ... Show more content on

In Act V Scene 2, Prospero finally confronts all of the visitors of the island, from the King of Naples
to the boatswain and his crewmates. The two most important interactions that outline his change in
character are the ones between his brother Antonio, and the King of Naples, Alonso. Prospero takes
the initiative and forgives his brother, twice. He confronts Antonio, I do forgive thee, / Unnatural
though thou art (V.i.88 89) and, I do forgive / Thy rankest fault, all of them (V.i.151 152). Lines like
these show an overview of Prospero s new character at the end of the play. The first of change is
admitting the wrongs and moving on from the past, both of which Prospero does. Prospero s opinions
about Alonso is also decidedly different from the beginning of the play. When talking to Miranda,
Prospero refers to the Kind as being an enemy (I.ii.145) as well as Antonio composing A treacherous
army (I.ii.152) of both the forces of Milan and Naples. It is clear that Prospero initially had strong
feelings against the Naples family tree and kingdom. However, alongside the marriage of Ferdinand,
the prince of Naples, and Prospero s own daughter, relations between the two seem to have bettered by
the end. Prospero only treats Alonso with respect saying, I embrace thy body (V.i.120) and, Let me
embrace thine age, whose honor cannot / Be measured or confined (V.i.135 136). Prospero already
begins to deal with the politics of Milan has he ensures that the relationship between the two countries
is strong. These attempts show that Prosper is more disposed to his people and no longer just

Description of Key Competitors
There are few sustainability consulting companies focusing only on maintenance of existing small and
medium sized buildings in the United Kingdom.
Mostly are large consulting firms (more than 30 employees) that offer consulting services to small and
medium sized businesses. However, these large firms cannot cost effectively service this market due to
high overhead and labour costs. Small and medium sized businesses usually cannot afford the high
hourly fees charged by these firms. Business from this target market does not represent a significant
portion of the revenues generated by these large firms which all specialize in new projects.
Analysis of Competitive Position
Eco Friendly sustainability Consultancy will be the only consulting firm in the region specializing in
providing sustainability consulting services to small and medium sized existing building
refurbishment. Eco Friendly sustainability consultancy has a competitive advantage in this area due to
the innovative unique idea.
However, as a new business, it may take time to establish a strong client base and develop a reputation
as a small business specialist.

Teotihuacan Artistic Influence
Teotihuacan: Sphere of Artistic Influence
In the Basin of Mexico about 7,000 ft above sea level lies the ruins of the ancient city of Teotihuacan,
the place of the gods, which flourished from 100 650 A.D. Little is known about this city s mysterious
demise of power, besides evidence of what appears to be ritualized burnings at major temples and
centers. The impact of Teotihuacan throughout Mesoamerica is evident, and the most obvious
indicator of this influence is through artistic style. Just how far was the expansion of Teotihuacan s
artistic influence across Mesoamerica? I will use a variety of sources not only to define the
Teotihuacano art style as a whole, but also to map the path of its successful impact, (and also
resistance,) across subsequent Mesoamerican civilizations, focusing principally on the Maya. The
architectural style known as talud tablero marks the presence of Teotihuacan abroad more distinctly
than any other aspects of its art. The sloping talud (talus) supports the vertical tablero (entablature),

By 450 AD, versatile mold made ceramics were beginning to be mass produced, stamped and

Brightly polychromed urns and incense burners sporting human and animal faces are among the larger
ceramics that survive from this era. The Teotihuacanos may have been able to take these
anthromorphic assemblages apart and reconfigure them into different deities from the constituent
parts. (Miller, Mary Ellen 2012) One large urn from Teotihuacan displays the image of an owl deity

Descartes s Cogito Ergo Sum
During Meditations 2, Descartes establishes a version of his famous cogito ergo sum . He establishes
that despite the fact that we may not know the world around us as well as we think we do, we can
know the mind better and the trusting the mind can lead him to the seemingly justified conclusion that
he exists. Descartes method of arriving at the conclusion is by starting from scratch and considering
whether there could be any ground of doubt for his beliefs. He was a rational philosopher who gave
reason the utmost importance and led him to realise that many of his current beliefs were in fact based
on uncertainty and thus false conclusions. Therefore, in order to avoid this problem and find secure
knowledge of on what he can be certain of, he uses the method of doubting everything that he finds
reason to doubt and consequently, being justified in rejecting the whole. He will: withhold my assent
from matters which are not entirely certain and indubitable than from those which appear to me
manifestly to be false (Descartes 1641: 6) Firstly, Descartes deals with the issue of empiricism the
theory that our knowledge is derived from our sensory experiences. Since we know from everyday
errors that our senses have the ability to deceive us fairly often so making our perceptions to be
something that it is not. For example, there are lots of examples of optical illusions and the fact that
the train tracks may appear to converge from a distance. Consequently, we ought to

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Ode To Shakespeare
This week s lecture is focused on Ben Jonson, his love hate relationship with Shakespeare, his lyric
poetry, Jonson s purpose, Jonson s life, and Volpone . Jonson was constantly compared to Shakespeare
which is often deemed as unfair. Sadly. Jonson was always second best even though they were two
different people with different writing styles, temperament, artistic interests, etc.. However, this could
be due to working around each other and always being in the same surroundings. There were times
when Jonson would hint at Shakespeare in his work but would often try to make Shakespeare look bad
in order to boost his ego. In my opinion, I do not blame Jonson for doing this because he was tired of
being compared to someone who was around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, I think it was wonderful that Jonson was able to achieve this because I am sure after
being compared to Shakespeare constantly that he needed something that he could call his own
achievement.
Next, Jonson s purpose was didactic. Didactic is defined the intent to teach or lecture others while
having a moral instruction as one s ulterior motive. Jonson was seen as a public poet. I believe his
used his poetry to teach others his neo classical virtues. He believed his poems could be used as
examples to introduce people to wisdom, honesty, and his version of a good life. In my opinion, I
think that Jonson s poems could be used as a template to show people how to live a better life or to
show the moral of the story. I think he was trying to teach others to embrace a good moral standing.
One could say that his ulterior motive was to teach people ethical principles and artistic standards
because he believed that someone of his standing should feel responsible to show others that they
should follow these rules. However, Jonson believed that his purpose was to defined the good life but
according to the lecture this would mean that Jonson would have to discover his self knowledge and
that it would have to be constant.
Next, Ben Jonson was born in London around June of 1572. Although, his father died two months
before his birth, Jonson was able to attend Westminster School but only for a short time. Afterwards,
he decided to follow in his stepfather s footprints

Gas Line Repair Fort Worth
For household s that depend on gas for heating, cooking and hot water, safe gas lines are essential. If
you are not a professional trained in gas line repair in Fort Worth, trying to work with a gas line can be
a dangerous and costly mistake.
Gas is a clean and efficient fuel that is relatively safe, but gas line leaks are extremely dangerous, and
can be deadly. The risks of a gas leak are suffocation, explosion and fire. When repair or installation is
provided they require specialized equipment to test for leaks, equipment a Benjamin Franklin licensed
plumber uses routinely.
For the homeowner, the best means to determine if you have a gas line leak is by the odor. An additive
is added to naturally odorless natural gas that is similar to rotten eggs. The scent is added to help
people identify a gas leak. If you detect the odor of gas, get everyone out of the house, and when you
are safely away from your home, and the odor of gas, call 911 and your gas provider. Once the gas has

Advertising Strategy Of Coca Cola
Coca Cola is one of the biggest companies worldwide, operating in the soft drinks industry. It was
founded in 1886 by a pharmacist from Atlanta, called John S. Pemberton. Two years later, John sold
portions of the business to various parties, and the biggest portion of shares went to the famous
businessmen from Atlanta, Asa G. Candler. Under Candler s leadership, Coca Cola expanded its
distribution on a huge scale beyond Atlanta. For the first time in 1894, Joseph Biedenharn introduced
the bottling machinery and was the first to make this beverage portable. Since then, the bottling of
Coca Cola has changed numerous times and was also has been imitated by different competitors. In
1977, the bottling of Coca Cola was finally trademarked and since then, it has been an inspiration for
the artists across the globe. Evolution of the Coca Cola bottle has brought so many different

Reputation Of Pablo Picasso
Reputation is the belief or opinion that is held about someone or something generally about their
character, position, or status. Many famous people have reputations. For e.g. artists, people in power,
and etc. History is full of artists whose reputations were challenged in those days. Likewise, painters
also struggled to establish their reputations. Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno
María de Los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso (Editors, 2015) also known
as Pablo Picasso was one of them. He was born on October 25, 1881, in Málaga, Spain. He was a

He painted in a style that was strongly influenced by the African sculptures. The huge achievement of
this period was Les Demoiselles d Avignon (1907). He abandoned the traditional art and used
distortions and geometric forms to create female figures which was challenging to the expectations of
others. Later, because of patriotic and political issues, he denied that African art never inspired him. In
the next period Cubism (1909 1914) Picasso worked with dimension and moved towards abstraction.
It was like different objects are broken apart and then reassembled in abstract forms. Cubism stunned
and fascinated the art world. Braque said It made me feel as if someone was drinking gasoline and
spitting fire (Biography.com, 2015) explaining his feelings when he first saw the paintings. Cubism
changed avant garde all over again. Cubism had two branches Analytic (1909 1912) and synthetic
(1912 1914). Analytic cubist analyzed the natural forms and represented them using geometric shapes
and often monochromatic palette. E.g. Girl with a Mandolin (1910), Bread and Fruit Dish On a Table
(1909), Violin (1912), and etc. Synthetic cubism involved creating collages with tiny fragments e.g.
Card Player (1914), Clarinet and Violin (1913), and etc. World War I caused a great change in his art.
Mood and style became more somber and realistic. After cubism, he changed to the

What Is The Theme In The Conference Of The Birds
Introduction
This essay will attempt to delve into the meaning and thus, deliver a commentary on one of the
greatest Sufi poems of all times, The Conference of the Birds (Manteq at Tair) written by the great
Persian Sufi poet Farid ud Din Attar, who was born during the twelfth century in Neishapour in north
west Iran and spent his childhood being educated at the theological school attached to the shrine of
Imam Reza at Mashhad. (Darbandi Davis 1). The poem written by Attar can be seen as an allegory of
a spiritual pilgrimage, like that of Dante s Divine Comedy and Chaucer s Canterbury Tales. (Davis et
al. 401).
However, before moving forward, it is imperative to clarify that since the poem is composed of 4500
lines, only a stanza has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Conference of the Birds is an epic Sufi poem, owing to it long length and the narrative that it
attempts to knit together. One of the rhetorical devices used frequently by the poet Attar in his works
is that of anaphora, which is the repetition of a certain word or phrase over and over again within an
extended paragraph or few lines. (Darbandi Davis 9). Moreover, Attar also uses the common masnavi
metre of Persian narrative poetry; where the rhymes occur within the line and each line has a different
rhyme thereby, rendering it almost identical to the English heroic couplet. (Darbandi Davis 9). Not
only that, he also makes use of Persian metaphors in his work which are quite different from that of
the metaphors found in the English poetry, as the former juxtapose words in such a way so as to
deepen the meanings implied by the passage. (Darbandi Davis

Roller Coasters-Personal Narrative
Clank, clank, clank, shooooooomp! Was the sound I heard, as I stood waiting for my friends in a
crowd of people that looked huge because I was only ten years old, I was at the front gate of Six Flags
Discovery Kingdom. I finally spotted one of my friends Bree. Bree had her hair in two long golden
french braids and black Nike shoes on. Once Bree saw me I waved and she waved back. Then I saw JJ
and Gabby, they are sisters, JJ had her short blond hair down and Gabby had her brown hair in a
ponytail. I waved to them and they both waved back. We all got in the only line that had shade

continued, we do not want you to miss out on all the fun, so why not just pay a small amount and have
some fun with your friends and besides we won t have to worry about are stuff. I finally ran out of
lame excuses and had to tell the truth that I did not want to go and hope they would not ask why. Once
all are stuff was put in the lockers, they started to the entrance. Finally, I blurted out, I do not want to
go on the ride, they all looked at me with the expression why on their faces. I looked at them, and
confessed, I am scared to go on a roller coaster, and especially the biggest one in the park. They all
came back to where I was standing and told me that everything was going to be fine and that nothing
bad would happen to me if I went. I looked at them, then the roller coaster, and then back at them and

Essay on Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment
Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment
ABSTRACT: In Reasons and Persons, Derek Parfit argues for a Reductionist View of personal
identity. According to a Reductionist, persons are nothing over and above the existence of certain
mental and/or physical states and their various relations. Given this, Parfit believes that facts about
personal identity just consist in more particular facts concerning psychological continuity and/or
connectedness, and thus that personal identity can be reduced to this continuity and/or connectedness.
Parfit is aware that his view of personal identity is contrary to what many people ordinarily think
about persons, and thus if his view is correct, many of us have false beliefs about personal ... Show

Given this, Parfit believes that it follows that the fact of a person s identity over time just consists in
the holding of more particular facts. (2) Parfit provides further arguments to show that the facts in
question concern psychological continuity and/or connectedness, and thus that personal identity can be
reduced to this psychological continuity and/or connectedness. This is what Parfit terms the
Psychological Criterion for personal identity. Further, since personal identity just consists in this
psychological continuity when it takes a non branching, or one one form, personal identity is, as Parfit
puts it, not what matters. What does matter is the psychological continuity and connectedness, what
Parfit terms Relation R.
Parfit realizes that his view on personal identity is contrary to what many people ordinarily believe
concerning the nature of persons. Parfit thus notes that even if we are not aware of this, most of us our
Non Reductionists. It thus follows that most of us have false beliefs about our own nature, and our
identity over time. (3) Further, Parfit thinks that

Cursive Writing Is The Importance Of Writing
As the two positions posed above have stated, it is a matter of grave importance that school and its
systems should contemplate the importance of cursive handwriting and whether it should remain or be
forsaken as some method of unwarranted use. Whereas both sides have their own opinions, one must
consult each and formulate his or her own thought on the matter. For example, though cursive
handwriting may be found to be lacking use in today s technologically fueled society, the benefits of
cursive writing in a variety of situations over typing cannot be underestimated. Such fields and the
situations concern the modern problems of identity, beneficiary subjects, and strength versus ease.
First and foremost, in a society where information is of the utmost importance and is found to be
obtained through some method of identity, one must consult what typing, thumbprints, and digital
passwords have over the contained chaos that is each and every person s unique, handwritten
signature. Whereas the second article opposing the continuation of cursive handwriting said that A
survey was given to handwriting teachers at a 2012 conference hosted by a lead researcher. The survey
revealed that only 37% of the teachers wrote in cursive. If handwriting teachers don t value cursive,
then why should anyone? , the author of the article forgot to include several important factors that
come to mind. The conference itself was not stated, nor was the amount of attendees, let alone the
amount that were teachers. Such a fact if one will think can be easily misconstrued from a formulated
lie. Of course, another reason could be that the ones that surveyed the teachers selected a small, biased
margin that would otherwise have resulted in contradictory evidence, i.e. useless data. Secondly, It
used to be that people s written name was an important part of their identity attempts to convey the
idea that one does not use his or her or their signature anymore. However, A signature is no longer
needed for many legal documents and receipts would be found incorrect. In the personal experience of
the author, every receipt for an order or registration for school, testing or not, has needed a
handwritten signature to testify he is actually

Let s say your business works in the flower industry. You might discover that an article about mother s
day flowers on a popular blog includes broken links. Perhaps the links lead to a 404 page. But the link,
with its keywords, is a perfect fit for your business. You can contact the owner of the blog and inform
them about the broken link. Naturally, the blog won t benefit having articles with broken links and
readers will quickly find them annoying and uninformative. While you inform the owner about the
broken link, you can also ask him or her to replace the link with a link to your website. Since your link
is a perfect fit, the owner doesn t need to change the article around, but can simply remove the non
operational link with a working one. Why should you consider broken link building? As mentioned
above, broken link building is one of SEO strategies businesses could use. The practice has become
more popular, driven by the many benefits its offer. Firstly, broken link building works because the
Internet is full of non operational links. HowStuffWorks explained on its article on the subject, how
the links on its site can become broken as quickly as few months. The reasons behind the cause of
broken link vary, but the disruption and annoyance of encountering a broken link remains the same.
Essentially, the practice of broken link building isn t just about boosting your business. It is about

Notes On Web Usage Mining
2. WEB USAGE MINING
Data mining techniques can be mainly divided into three categories: Web structural mining, Web
Content mining and web usage mining. Web structural mining is used to discover structure from data
available on web like hyperlinks and documents. It can be helpful to the user for navigating within
documents as mining can be done to retrieve intra and inter hyperlinks and DOM structure out of
documents. Web Content mining can be used to extract information from the data available on web
like texts, videos, images, audio files etc. Web usage mining is the application of data mining
techniques to discover interesting usage patterns from web usage data, in order to understand and
better serve the needs of web based applications (Srivastava, Cooley, Deshpande, and Tan 2000).
Websites or usage data takes user s available information and browsing history, location of user etc. as
input for mining information. Web usage mining can be further divided into three categories
depending upon the type of data used for mining: web server logs, application server, application level
logs. Web usage mining can be highly helpful in mining the data for web applications and thus helping
development in fields like E Commerce. It can be helpful to discover usage patterns from Web data,
thus helping serve better the needs of Web based applications. Web usage mining can be categorized

medical breakthrough could be very beneficial. On the other hand, scientific testing can be very
dangerous and harmful to people. According to Levin, All of this, however, does not mean that science

The only two exceptions in the story seem to be Charlie and the great Willy Wonka. Throughout the
book Willy Wonka is highly respected and thought to be a genius by everyone. He is revered, and
nothing but praise seems to be heaped upon him by every character in the story and what seems to put
him apart from everyone is his belief in both ideals. Even though it is not stated in the book there is
clear evidence that Wonka is a very business minded individual and gives the success of his factory
massive importance. This is shown in the way he closed down his factory from the public in order to
safeguard the secrets of his products from spy efforts from his competitors. Another shrewd business
maneuver was putting the golden tickets inside chocolate bars, knowing the tickets would be highly
coveted, he knew that sales for his candy would skyrocket. On the other hand Wonka is very faith

The discovery of the Americas also allowed new trading options and financial expansion which
benefited all of Europe.
What great length would one man go to for himself and his people? Although Columbus discoveries
offered more trade and financial gain for Europe and himself, the consequences were more deadly
than the gain could ever be fruitful for the natives. With the grazing animals that the Europeans
brought over to the natives, also came a drop in vegetation which decreased their food supply. With
the exchange of goods between the Europeans and the natives there was also an exchange of diseases.
With the diseases such as smallpox, mumps, measles, and whooping cough, also came another called
death. With these diseases spreading through the native villages, fifty to ninety percent of the native
population died. With the decrease in native population also can a decrease in their resistance and
ability to fight off the Europeans. Columbus began to think of the natives as future slave laborers.
Many unsuccessful attempts were made to enslave the natives but each failed and Columbus gave up
and started looking toward the West Africans. They began kidnapping Africans and bringing them
over by ship to the Americas. Many died during the voyages and the ones that survived became slaves
and worked in the Americas.

The adherent to diaphragmatic breathing for deep meditation has to take the time to learn to breathe
from the diaphragm and keep the top of the chest and the bottom of the abdomen still.
Western medicine has found out that just as the yogis have known for a long time, breathing is closely

The Moral Issue Of Vivisection
Paige Simone English Research Skills Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories
and are called medical research. ~George Bernard Shaw (1856 1950) Introduction The everyday
products we use such as toothpaste, makeup, and medicines have more than likely been tested on an
animal in a laboratory before being available for human consumption. These animals suffer greatly
and live lives of isolation and torture. They endure cruel treatment all in the name of scientific
research. Many people believe that these tests are necessary to discover cures for human illnesses.
This is simply not the case. There is a large amount of research that indicates that animal experiments
often lacks validity and do not stand up when transferred to human beings. In addition, the moral issue
of vivisection is one that we must all struggle with as human beings. Mohandas Gandhi said I abhor
vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of
no consequence. and To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I
should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more
helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man. Scientists
and all human beings alike have an obligation to develop alternative methods of testing drugs and
products that do not harm animals. Paige Simone English Research Skills

Women s Movement 1800s
Cultural changes were occurring in the United States in the early 1800s that would eventually
contribute to the women s movement. The Second Great Awakening emphasized individualism, this
idea expanded to people like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and, Lucretia Mott who fought for women s right
to vote. Stanton, Mott, and a few other met in the Seneca Falls, New York; they drew up the first
public protest in America against women s political, economic, and social inferiority (Kraditor 1).
Women s roles were viewed as homemakers, being part of their family and not individuals with their
own rights. Women faced many challenges throughout history with not being able to participate in
politics nor receiving equality especially their voting rights. Although there wasn t a federal
amendment for women s voting, many states did implement the rights to vote for women.
In the 1870s, a few people pioneered for women s rights to enter politics in California, demanding
women s suffrage. They based their demand on a fundamental principle: fathers and husbands should
not vote for women; women must speak for themselves (Gullett 11). In past history, the English

The History and Future of the Internet Essay
The History and Future of the Internet

unlike many pop culture fads of the nineties, will continue to see a growth in popularity and

What Is The Moral Of 12 Angry Men In The 1950 s
Twelve Angry Men is a movie that took place in the mid 1950s because of the 2nd world war which
had resulted in a depression of economies in the 1920s 1930s. Around this time the American society
was negotiating the political rights with the challenges facing the Soviet Union which occurred over a
decade. It was a political and economic struggle between the two nations. At the same time, the nation
was entering into an internal struggle; also the Civil Rights Movement was concerned with hindering
racism and promote freedom, respect and equality. This play however expresses domestic conflict
which reflects on the social and political conflict in the 1950s. In Twelve Angry Men individual
personality and belief were argued, class conflicts and philosophical challenges were a problem.

A vote was cast and 11 men voted guilty and 1 men voted innocent. The deliberation then started and
the case was argued because someone s life was placed in their hands. Evidence was brought to the
table such as the knife and there was an exact replicate of the one of a kind knife that was at the crime
scene. The old man who lived in an apartment directly below the teenage boy said he saw the boy flee
the crime scene in 15 second, evidence however proved that the old man could not have seen the boy
flee the crime scene in 15 seconds as said. Additionally a woman across the street said she saw the
young man stab his father with the knife however, logics proved that the woman was not wearing her
glasses at the time of d murder which indicated that her eye sight was not 100%. As each evidence
was brought forth more jurors were then convinced as to the young boy being innocent. Eventually the
case was at 11:1 of the boy being innocent and it then resulted in 12:0 innocent in the boy s

Psychology Of Religion
Ludwig Feuerbach and Sigmund Freud were similar in that both were reductionists who saw God as
somewhat of a false projection of the human mind, so both offer a psychology of religion, but that is
also the ending of their similarities. Feuerbach, for example, saw religion as the consciousness of God
being merely the projection of self consciousness; as Feuerbach puts it, Such as are a man s thought
and dispositions, such is his God (Feuerbach, p.139). And Feuerbach found that studying religion was
beneficial to understanding humankind and did not need to be destroyed or dismantled, which is why
he proposed the idea that Theology is Anthropology (Feuerbach, p.141). Freud, on the other hand, saw
religion as a form of neurosis stemming from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
138). Self consciousness to God consciousness is an idea in which one projects their values and ideals
onto the created deity in order to give oneself a moral guideline to live up to, theoretically. And while
in most religions it may not be the individual s moral ideals, but those adopted from the religion they
are surrounded by or have chosen to ascribe themselves, the same general idea would still apply as it
would be the collective projecting of the self consciousness into God consciousness. While Feuerbach
does not necessarily see a benefit to following any religions and believing in any god or gods, he does
not decide to call for there to be an end to such deities or religions, as he does not see any harm
stemming from the belief in them; rather, he believes that religious gods give a way of studying the
people that worship them. The idea of studying a religion to understand the people that follow or
believe said religion is a concept that Feuerbach coined as Theology is anthropology (Feuerbach, p.
141). This idea is exactly what one would expect it to be, as the study of the religion or the god(s) of
the religion is really the study of the believers of that religion. Similarly one can study the Greek, the
Roman, or any other pagan god in order to

Music is an important part of every film. The filmmakers used music as background noise to help tell
the story. With or without words music can be so powerful that it increases the intensity of the film

Group Dynamics Paper
3 Group Dynamics
a) There are many ways to communicate effectively with your group, and there can be many reasons
why some groups communicate poorly. Valentine Belonwu states, many points on group dynamics and
effective group communication, (Belonwu, 2013).
Some important points that Belonwu makes are:
One on one, people understand better when talked to directly or face to face. Maintaining eye contact
will ensure the message has been understood and that way effective communication is accomplished.
Listen to you team members, communications is a two way path, make sure to not just keep talking
about your topics, give your team members a chance to talk as well.
This will mean next time they will be more likely to engage in the conversation.
Be Appreciative, always be courteous towards your listeners and group members. The point of ...

One reason for it being effective was just like how Belonwu states is that we created a very receptive
atmosphere, this means that we didn t have a tense environment whenever we had meetings, therefore
we felt more confident discussing the topics.
Another instance is we made sure to reduce our perceptions and to be empathetic towards how others
see a situation. This made communication really effective as we moved passed trying explain things
we didn t need to and had more time to discuss the important issues and go straight to the point.
As a team, we didn t really face unsuccessful communication, this was due to us just listening to each
other during our meetings, and we listened politely and made sure we weren t being ignored. This not
only helped us have effective communication as a team, but also got closer as a team.
While having meetings as a group we displayed confidence and seriousness, when talking about our
topics this told each of us that we were not talking nonsense. This greatly helped us understand better
and complete our work

The Tunnel And What You Pawn I Will Redeem
The main characters in the stories Through the Tunnel and What You Pawn I Will Redeem both have
their mind set on determination. In the story Through the Tunnel, Jerry, the young English boy, sees a
group of boys diving and calls them men and wants to be like them. The tunnel they swim through is
the symbol in the story used to describe his transition to manhood. In What You Pawn I Will Redeem,
Jackson found his grandmother s stolen regalia that had one yellow bead sewed on it that represented a
flaw. The yellow bead is the symbol in this story representing Jackson as a flaw in life. He was
determined to get the regalia back to feel like he is part of his culture and to make them proud. Doris
Lessing, the author of Through the Tunnel, and Sherman Alexie, the author of What You Pawn I Will
Redeem, both have symbols that encourage the main characters to achieve their goal.
The story Through the Tunnel is about a young boy named Jerry and his mother going on vacation to a
beach resort that they have previously visited. The villa they are staying at consist of two beaches. The
safe, crowded beach is where Jerry s mother goes and the wild Rocky Bay is where Jerry ends up
spending most of his time. While Jerry swims in the water at the wild bay, he sees a group of boys
diving into the water. Jerry knew right when he saw them, he wanted to be just like them. In his eyes,
They were big boys men to Jerry (Lessing 148). To show that he was brave, he found the courage to

The Dark Night Of The Soul And Heath Ledger
Various individuals seek answers through literate arts. While books can t always give us answers
about how to live our lives or how society works, we can still learn a lot. The truth of the matter is that
nobody can determine your future, but yourself. The literate arts can teach individuals different skills
or knowledge about society, but what you retain from the books will drastically affect your point of
view and actions. Through Millers essay, The Dark Night of the Soul and Heath Ledger, well known
for his role as the joker in the movie, Dark knight, is a good representation of how the literate arts can
be perceived in many different ways. Literate arts can open your mind to many different thoughts, but

He couldn t separate his work and home life. His message to the viewers is that being a supervillain is
bad, while he does it himself. This led him to overdosing on drugs and later on killing himself through
his disruptive behavior. How are the literate arts positive? The literate arts are our source to gaining
different information on society. Through many scenarios in life, we learn different things about
ourselves. Heath s death was all his fault and not the literate arts because the joker was living within
him. The joker was born in Heath, when his parents split, and the movie allowed him to express all his
emotions though the psychopathic joker.
In Millers essay, he provides a scenario where one s past experience could have impacted one s life.
For example, in the Liar s Club, Mary Karr tries to make sense of her family s past. Her curiosity
drove her to find more information about her family and with that she found that her father
participated in the war. She discovered that he was wounded twice, one time stuck with a bayonet
through his forearm, leaving a scar (454). Without knowing her father s past, Mary would have never
known the experiences her father went through. This led to her father, Pete to be more violent towards
his family, which led to a ...memoir allows one to plunge into the darkness of the past (451). Pete had

Child Labour In Colombia Essay
The child labour is a serious widespread social problem for the rural and urban Colombia. There are
many reasons why the children in this country are submitted to work either by their own or an
obligation.
Until some years ago, in the rural zone the families were numerous specially to ensure a cheaper
workforce showing a well known growth of the population in these zones instead of the urban ones
where one didn t see this problem and increasing the incident of poverty. So, the principal reason of
child labour in Colombia is that the children meet forced to help economically their families according
to an investigation of the Dane.
Accessing to education is a challenge for many Colombian children, especially indigenous and Afro
Colombian because is hindered by internal armed conflict, impassible routes and long distances
between the children s homes and the school in rural areas.
Domestic work is an issue that Colombia began to address relatively in 2014, in consultation with the
ILO. More work is needed to change the cultural belief that domestic work doesn´t constitute child
labor, a belief that particularly disadvantages girls, who are the majority of those who labor in the
privacy of the home where child labor is more difficult to detect. Household chores are classified
among the worst forms of child labor (servitude, domestic work), and accidents in the home are the
fourth most common cause of death and injury in Colombia.
This issue affects in diverse ways around the

The Animal Welfare Act Is The United States
Think of a small or large innocent animal, dying a painful death, all because we humans want to
advance and need something to test on. They are only being minimally protected because they are
seen as just our property . Testing on animals is not the problem, the extremely inhumane way that
they are being treated is. Many animals of different species sit in cages of research facilities, instead of
being out in the wild where they belong. They are forced to endure multiple tests every day. These
tests are harmful, sometimes even deadly. The only thing slightly protecting them is the Animal
Welfare Act, But it does not provide very much protection. Those who are supporters of this
movement are usually criticized by people who do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research facilities also have very few restrictions on lab workers. The Animal Welfare Act does not
give the facilities any restraints for their employees. No legal requirements for researchers to consider
alternatives to their use, nor provide them with relief from the pain, distress, or even the most basic
slanderers of care. (Neavas1) Though most are qualified scientists, they do not have to provide a
quality of care which is inhumane to the animal. (Neavas 2) The laboratories that these animals are
stuck in may be unsafe and unclean. The animals live in small, dark cages and are forced to live that
way their entire lives. Animals should be able to ram free and should not be kept locked away in cages
until they are needed. Under the Animal Welfare Act, research institutions are required to establish an
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee to oversee and evaluate all aspects of the institution s
care and use program. (Neavs1) While the United States Department of Agriculture and the Animal
Welfare Act and Institutional Animal Care and Use systems purport to ensure humane treatment of
animals in labs, the system is plagued with loopholes that leave animals

  • 2. How Do Driverless Cars Persuasive Essay Mercedes Benz, Audi, and Nissan plan to have cars that can drive themselves by 2020 . Driverless cars has been apart of the human imagination for quite awhile now, proof being in popular science fiction. It wasn t until the early 2000 s that modern technology was ready take this very imaginative idea and turn it into a reality. Many companies have been working on driverless cars and are seeing quite the success. Although driverless cars are a step in the right direction of developing extremely useful technology, I feel driverless cars should not be given to the public because it will completely change society in many ways. Google co founder, Sergey Brin, has a vision for a future with a public transport taxi system that uses driving cars. In this future no one will need to buy cars because there will be taxis to take people everywhere. In this future people will not have the need to learn to drive because technology will be so advance that cars have the ability to drive themselves. While this will have an effect on society as a whole, it will have the biggest impact on adolescence. The priority of adolescence as they get older will not be as focused on the hard working nature of wanting to learn how to drive and making money to buy a car. In a world where driverless cars are available to the public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If driverless cars become available to the public, we will be one step closer to letting the technology we are creating ruin our lives. With these cars taking over the need to learn to drive, people will began to demand other technology to be developed that will take over the need for us to do mundane tasks. If we get so dependent where we need technology to do everyday tasks for us, developing better technology will become the center of our universe. Although driverless cars will lead to the destruction of our world, developing this technology is a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Fluidity of the American Civil War The American Civil War, widely known in the United States as simply the Civil War as well as other sectional names, was a civil war fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union or independence for the Confederacy. Among the 34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America. The Confederacy, often simply called the South, grew to include eleven states, and although they claimed thirteen states and additional western territories, the Confederacy was never diplomatically recognized by a foreign country. The states that remained loyal and did not declare secession were known as the Union or the North. The war had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slavery was the central source of escalating political tension in the 1850s. The Republican Party was determined to prevent any spread of slavery, and many Southern leaders had threatened secession if the Republican candidate, Lincoln, won the 1860 election. After Lincoln had won without carrying a single Southern state, many Southern whites felt that disunion had become their only option, because they thought that they were losing representation, which would hamper their ability to promote pro slavery acts and policies. Root causes Slavery. Contemporary actors, the Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as an integral part of it. From the anti slavery perspective, the issue was primarily about whether the system of slavery was an anachronistic evil that was incompatible with Republicanism in the United States. The strategy of the anti slavery forces was containment to stop the expansion and thus put slavery on a path to gradual extinction. The slave holding interests in the South denounced this strategy as infringing upon their Constitutional rights. Southern whites believed that the emancipation of slaves would destroy the South s economy because of the alleged laziness of blacks under free labor. Slavery was illegal in the ... • 5. Summary Of Arthur Ashe s Contract Days Of Grace In the memoir Days of Grace by Arthur Ashe himself, Arthur struggles with a terminal disease he contracted through something out of his control. Unfortunately, he was burdened by an incurable disease, but this did not stop him from living his life. Arthur acknowledges that he is mortal and will probably die sooner than he would have without the disease. However, through a strong relationship with God, he acts gratefully in every situation, embraces life, and does not take small things for granted. Even after contracting AIDS, he continues to speak out against other issues that have always been important to him. He does not let AIDS hold him back. Arthur Ashe contracted a terminal disease at a fairly young age, but instead of denying his mortality and becoming bitter like most others would have done, he embraced his situation and used his experience with the disease to help fight the cause. Over the course of his life, the wildly successful and renowned tennis player, Arthur Ashe, accomplished many honorable things both on and off the court. • 8. Comparing The Creation Stories Of Ancient Israelite Views... Compare and contrast the creation stories in Enuma Elish and in Genesis. In particular, assess what this comparative work tells us about ancient Israelite views of God and God s creative work. Genesis 1, the first chapter in the bible, is easily the most well known creation story to come out of the Ancient Near East. However, that does not mean that it was the only creation story to come out of that period. The Babylonian epic, the Enuma Elish was one such story. It is in essence a history of the Babylonian gods, and in particular, one god, Marduk. It was ultimately written to justify his rise to power as the head of the Babylonian pantheon of gods. This was done in order to support Babylon s claim to pre eminence above all the other cities in the country (Heidel 1963, p. 14). Despite emerging from the same period, the two texts are starkly different. The former portrays an all powerful, transcendent, monotheistic God, while the latter describes a polytheistic hierarchy of gods who reach their ends through violence and conflict. The differences between the Enuma Elish and Genesis 1 are so vast and endless that there is no real reason to discuss about their literary dependence or mythological similarities (EOR, p. 2811). Rather, the Enuma Elish is better enlisted as a tool of comparison in order to highlight the utterly different and radical nature of the ancient Israelite religion as compared to the common religious beliefs circulating the Near East. • 9. The Conservative Heart Analysis Arthur Brooks book The Conservative Heart How to Build a Fairer, Happier and More Prosperous America represents a challenge to the established view of Conservatives and Republicans regarding America s social issues. Many Americans feel caught between two dispiriting political choices: ineffective compassion on one hand and heartless pragmatism on the other. While Democrats/Progressives have always provided this ongoing narrative of party who were once the champions of the underprivileged; collapsed in the 2016 elections. The Progressive message was clearly understood as identity politics not the champions of the underdog as promised. However, Conservatives who can provide the better solutions to poverty were tagged with a variety of labels, such as non compassionate or out of touch. Conservatives have been notoriously marked as the country club concerned about their own wealth preservation. Unfortunately, until the 2016 election, conservatives failed to message their solutions to America s poverty. Portfolio; feasible set; efficient portfolio; efficient frontier A portfolio is a group of financial assets, differing in possible risk and return, and is managed by an investor or a group of professionals. Generally, a higher return expected by a portfolio owner generates a higher risk as well, and vice versa. The mix of financial assets can range, and these can include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and cash equivalents. Stocks are considered the most volatile of these options and thus generate the highest return/highest risk, with bonds being one of the safer options, which only generate a low return/low risk. In contrast to portfolios with less diversification, which tend to be sub optimal and below the curve, the efficient frontier curve outlines diversified portfolios that are optimal. This is depicted by the graph attached. {See Graph 1} As outlined in the example diagram provided by YoungResearch, the efficient frontier adequately demonstrates the impact of diversification, showing how it is a factor in determining the curve s optimal portfolios, determined by the amounts of risk (measured by standard deviation of annual returns) and return (average of annual returns). For example, a portfolio with only 100% stocks would generate a large return of 12.5%, though also a large risk of 17%. This is the opposite to a portfolio of 100% bonds, where the return would be smaller at 9%, though with significantly less risk at approximately 9%. Consider the bundle with 10% risk and 10.75% return, which is the one composed of 50% stocks and 50% bonds. This may be viewed as a more favorable option for the investor, as return is higher than a portfolio with only bonds, though with less risk, compared to a portfolio with only stocks. {See Graph 2} B. How Does Romeo Change Throughout The Tempest At the end of William Shakespeare s, The Tempest, the main protagonist is faced with the subject of whether or not he can return to his dukedom of Milan a good leader. In the beginning, Prospero s brother, Antonio, dethrones Prospero as he lost sight of the limit of the power he possessed. Becoming obsessed and primarily focused on his studies of magic, Prosperous gave the management of his domain to Antonio in order to keep the nation running. Antonio soon took on a larger role in the government, breaking the screen between a proxy to Prospero and the true duke to Milan. The two most important interactions that outline his change in character are the ones between his brother Antonio, and the King of Naples, Alonso. Prospero takes the initiative and forgives his brother, twice. He confronts Antonio, I do forgive thee, / Unnatural though thou art (V.i.88 89) and, I do forgive / Thy rankest fault, all of them (V.i.151 152). Lines like these show an overview of Prospero s new character at the end of the play. The first of change is admitting the wrongs and moving on from the past, both of which Prospero does. Prospero s opinions about Alonso is also decidedly different from the beginning of the play. When talking to Miranda, Prospero refers to the Kind as being an enemy (I.ii.145) as well as Antonio composing A treacherous army (I.ii.152) of both the forces of Milan and Naples. It is clear that Prospero initially had strong feelings against the Naples family tree and kingdom. However, alongside the marriage of Ferdinand, the prince of Naples, and Prospero s own daughter, relations between the two seem to have bettered by the end. Prospero only treats Alonso with respect saying, I embrace thy body (V.i.120) and, Let me embrace thine age, whose honor cannot / Be measured or confined (V.i.135 136). Teotihuacan Artistic Influence Teotihuacan: Sphere of Artistic Influence In the Basin of Mexico about 7,000 ft above sea level lies the ruins of the ancient city of Teotihuacan, the place of the gods, which flourished from 100 650 A.D. Little is known about this city s mysterious demise of power, besides evidence of what appears to be ritualized burnings at major temples and centers. The impact of Teotihuacan throughout Mesoamerica is evident, and the most obvious indicator of this influence is through artistic style. Just how far was the expansion of Teotihuacan s artistic influence across Mesoamerica? I will use a variety of sources not only to define the Teotihuacano art style as a whole, but also to map the path of its successful impact, (and also resistance,) across subsequent Mesoamerican civilizations, focusing principally on the Maya. • 14. Descartes s Cogito Ergo Sum During Meditations 2, Descartes establishes a version of his famous cogito ergo sum . He establishes that despite the fact that we may not know the world around us as well as we think we do, we can know the mind better and the trusting the mind can lead him to the seemingly justified conclusion that he exists. Descartes method of arriving at the conclusion is by starting from scratch and considering whether there could be any ground of doubt for his beliefs. He was a rational philosopher who gave reason the utmost importance and led him to realise that many of his current beliefs were in fact based on uncertainty and thus false conclusions. Therefore, in order to avoid this problem and find secure knowledge of on what he can be certain of, he uses the method of doubting everything that he finds reason to doubt and consequently, being justified in rejecting the whole. He will: withhold my assent from matters which are not entirely certain and indubitable than from those which appear to me manifestly to be false (Descartes 1641: 6) Firstly, Descartes deals with the issue of empiricism the theory that our knowledge is derived from our sensory experiences. Since we know from everyday errors that our senses have the ability to deceive us fairly often so making our perceptions to be something that it is not. For example, there are lots of examples of optical illusions and the fact that the train tracks may appear to converge from a distance. Consequently, we ought to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Ode To Shakespeare This week s lecture is focused on Ben Jonson, his love hate relationship with Shakespeare, his lyric poetry, Jonson s purpose, Jonson s life, and Volpone . Jonson was constantly compared to Shakespeare which is often deemed as unfair. Sadly. Jonson was always second best even though they were two different people with different writing styles, temperament, artistic interests, etc.. However, this could be due to working around each other and always being in the same surroundings. There were times when Jonson would hint at Shakespeare in his work but would often try to make Shakespeare look bad in order to boost his ego. I believe his used his poetry to teach others his neo classical virtues. He believed his poems could be used as examples to introduce people to wisdom, honesty, and his version of a good life. In my opinion, I think that Jonson s poems could be used as a template to show people how to live a better life or to show the moral of the story. I think he was trying to teach others to embrace a good moral standing. One could say that his ulterior motive was to teach people ethical principles and artistic standards because he believed that someone of his standing should feel responsible to show others that they should follow these rules. However, Jonson believed that his purpose was to defined the good life but according to the lecture this would mean that Jonson would have to discover his self knowledge and that it would have to be constant. One of the rhetorical devices used frequently by the poet Attar in his works is that of anaphora, which is the repetition of a certain word or phrase over and over again within an extended paragraph or few lines. (Darbandi Davis 9). Moreover, Attar also uses the common masnavi metre of Persian narrative poetry; where the rhymes occur within the line and each line has a different rhyme thereby, rendering it almost identical to the English heroic couplet. Essay on Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment Parfit, the Reductionist View, and Moral Commitment ABSTRACT: In Reasons and Persons, Derek Parfit argues for a Reductionist View of personal identity. According to a Reductionist, persons are nothing over and above the existence of certain mental and/or physical states and their various relations. Given this, Parfit believes that facts about personal identity just consist in more particular facts concerning psychological continuity and/or connectedness, and thus that personal identity can be reduced to this continuity and/or connectedness. Cursive Writing Is The Importance Of Writing As the two positions posed above have stated, it is a matter of grave importance that school and its systems should contemplate the importance of cursive handwriting and whether it should remain or be forsaken as some method of unwarranted use. Whereas both sides have their own opinions, one must consult each and formulate his or her own thought on the matter. For example, though cursive handwriting may be found to be lacking use in today s technologically fueled society, the benefits of cursive writing in a variety of situations over typing cannot be underestimated. Such fields and the situations concern the modern problems of identity, beneficiary subjects, and strength versus ease. First and foremost, in a society where information is of the utmost importance and is found to be obtained through some method of identity, one must consult what typing, thumbprints, and digital passwords have over the contained chaos that is each and every person s unique, handwritten signature. Whereas the second article opposing the continuation of cursive handwriting said that A survey was given to handwriting teachers at a 2012 conference hosted by a lead researcher. The survey revealed that only 37% of the teachers wrote in cursive. If handwriting teachers don t value cursive, then why should anyone? , the author of the article forgot to include several important factors that come to mind. The conference itself was not stated, nor was the amount of attendees, let alone the amount that were teachers. Such a fact if one will think can be easily misconstrued from a formulated lie. Of course, another reason could be that the ones that surveyed the teachers selected a small, biased margin that would otherwise have resulted in contradictory evidence, i.e. useless data. Secondly, It used to be that people s written name was an important part of their identity attempts to convey the idea that one does not use his or her or their signature anymore. However, A signature is no longer needed for many legal documents and receipts would be found incorrect. In the personal experience of the author, every receipt for an order or registration for school, testing or not, has needed a handwritten signature to testify he is actually ... These animals suffer greatly and live lives of isolation and torture. They endure cruel treatment all in the name of scientific research. Many people believe that these tests are necessary to discover cures for human illnesses. This is simply not the case. There is a large amount of research that indicates that animal experiments often lacks validity and do not stand up when transferred to human beings. Feuerbach, for example, saw religion as the consciousness of God being merely the projection of self consciousness; as Feuerbach puts it, Such as are a man s thought and dispositions, such is his God (Feuerbach, p.139). While Feuerbach does not necessarily see a benefit to following any religions and believing in any god or gods, he does not decide to call for there to be an end to such deities or religions, as he does not see any harm stemming from the belief in them; rather, he believes that religious gods give a way of studying the people that worship them. The idea of studying a religion to understand the people that follow or believe said religion is a concept that Feuerbach coined as Theology is anthropology (Feuerbach, p. 141).
