The Deployment Of Economic Sanctions On The International...
The deployment of economic sanctions on the international stage by states to influence the behavior of
other states has become the norm in International Relations. Despite the increase in popularity of this
practice over the course of the past century, the question of its efficiency is one that is still debated and
remains unanswered. The idea that putting economic pressures on a country to illicit a certain behavior
or change in behavior from that country works in theory, but in practice, it is more complicated and
does not necessarily work the way that theory suggests it should. Some economists and policy analysts
have taken the approach of deconstructing the subject in order to consider what variable may or may
not affect the efficiency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive sanctions are meant to foster relations between countries. Negative sanctions are intended to
cause another country economic harm. The debate around economic sanctions typically focuses on the
negative kind. Sanctions can be unilateral from one sender country to one target country or
multilateral from multiple countries. Multilateral sanctions can be orchestrated by one main country
supported by other countries, or they can be sent under the auspices of an international organization.
Raul Caruso distinguishes three different kinds of negative sanctions boycotts, embargoes, and
Kassim 3 financial sanctions. A boycott is the restriction of imports from the target country;
embargoes are restrictions on exports to the target country; financial sanctions are restrictions on
investment in the target country (Caruso Should We Set 23). Kaempfer and Lowenberg posit that
economic sanctions can be proposed for the following three reasons: in response to a nation that
threatens the wealth or security of the sender nation; to achieve moral or ideological goals; as a part of
trade policy and commercial relations i.e. in response to tariffs or quotas (Kaempfer 2). The question
of whether or not sanctions are efficient is a difficult one to answer. A major contributing factor to this
difficulty is the lack of a universal standard for gauging success. Analysts create the criteria by which
to judge success, and these criteria are not accepted by

Mediated Channel Interview
Conducting an Interview in a Mediated Channel The preparation process for the interview, was
relatively simple. Rebecca and I first decided and what would be the most effective channel for us to
conduct the interview on. We both agreed on Skype because unlike Facetime and other video
messaging platforms, Skype, allowed for us to conduct an interview through both our phones and
computers. When deciding on what questions to ask Rebecca, I tried to be pleasant and cordial
because I noticed right away that she was not extrovert and took into consideration that I would have
to build up some rapport before asking her more personal questions. I decided what questions to ask

Whether it s my classmates, girlfriend, friends or co workers, I like to find out information about
others, but I don t necessarily like to divulge information about myself. In political science classes, we
discuss the role of power. I happen to think that information is power. As a result, in conversation with
strangers, I purposely try to obtain as much information as I can about them, while offering up as little
about myself as I possibly can. Rebecca did an alright job of capturing my essence. She mentioned my
love of art and how I protested against President Elect Trump, but she didn t mention, how I grew up
with a mother with a different religious background than my father in a majority Muslim country.
Rebecca also failed to mention how much the story of David and Goliath, spawned my interest in

Case Study Lego
The Lego Case Study
In 2014, LEGO announced record results. In the financial year 2013, the company revenues had
increased by 10% to 25.4 billion DKK (Annual Report). Profits before tax were 8.2 billion DKK
representing a net income of 24% while operating margins were at a staggering 32.8% (Annual
Report). However, the company s future had not always looked so promising. When Jorgen Vig
Knudstrop stepped in as CEO in 2003, he described the then financial state of the company as a
burning platform which generated negative cash flows that would lead to its eventual collapse
(Ashcroft 3). Sadly, his portrayal was not that far from the truth. Throughout the early 2000s, the
company was facing losses of ~1 billion DKK yearly and was falling behind it competitors, Mattel
and Hasboro (Annual Report). So how did LEGO turn itself around in a short span of 8 years? ...

business of manufacturing building blocks and ventured in industries which it no knowledge or

that retailers were constantly overstocked with products which offered diminishing margins as

Kung Bushman Essay
The !Kung Bushman
Most contemporary foraging groups, such as the !Kung and other Bushman tribes, are viewed as a
primitive people. Some have even gone as far to say that they are the last representatives of the stone
age. While it is true that these people have the most similar culture to what we believe primitive
persons to have had, the analogies they can provide us with the people of the past are very inaccurate.
These comparisons are so unrivaled due to factors such as time and the wrong sense of view many
people have on them. Another reason that we cannot compare the !Kung of today to the people of the
past is because they are now advancing in society with the use of technology. I believe that the !Kung

He is basing our technology on the !Kung lifestyle. Webster Dictionary states technology as a manner
of accomplishing a task especially using technical processes, methods, or knowledge. According to
this definition, the !Kung have a very advanced technology. They have proven that they can
accomplish tasks using very precise processes, methods, and vast knowledge. It is not our technology,
but they have proved that they do not need ours to survive. It is their own form of living, which makes
them a unique, separate culture. This in no way makes them animal like, wild, or undomesticated. In
fact, the bushman have developed techniques that are obviously creditable due to the fact that they
survived this way for so long. In addition, they have the same kinship if not stronger than our own.
They can handle disputes without a leader and are very fond of working together as a team. In this
aspect, they don t need our methods of living. Our methods though, is exactly what the !Kung are
getting involved in. According to Howell, most bushman are settled on settlement stations with
European farmers and cattlemen. They also speak several languages, use store bought clothing, food,

The Battle Of The Little Bighorn River
Little Bighorn Battle Analysis
The Battle of the Little Bighorn River, which took stage on the 25th and 26th of June 1876, was
known to the Lakota as the Battle of the Greasy Grass. This Battle was also one of the last important
stands of the American Indians against the United States of America. The Battle took place in the
Montana Territory between the combined Indian tribes of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and
Arapaho tribes. These Indian tribes led by Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and other Indian leaders battled
the Seventh Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army. The Indian forces were victorious during
this battle where they faced their much smaller in number opponent led by General George Armstrong
Custer. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the events that led to the conflict, the environment of
the battle ground, the disposition and composition of each side, actions, inactions taken as well as the
their significance.
The Indians, threatened by the expansion of the white settlements west of the Mississippi River, this
endangered their way of life that revolved around the Buffalo and eventually led to their confinement
to reservations. The United States Government claimed a large portion of their lands for other uses but
did grant the plain Indians with an area exclusive to them known as the Great Sioux Reservation,
established by the treaty of 1868. It also allowed them hunting ground and grazing land for the
Buffalo outside the reservation.

A Report On Mayak Disaster
Journal Article
Mayak Disaster
Following World War 2 in 1945 the Soviet Union began commissioning a secret nuclear reactor site
deep in the Ural Mountains as part of an atomic bomb project. This site was built hurriedly and in
secret; five nuclear reactors were built to make, refine, and machine plutonium for weapons in just 3 5
years. http://planetliberty.wikidot.com/nuclear power incidents. When Mayak successfully produced a
nuclear bomb, Moscow demanded more weapons giving less time. In order to deliver, Mayak
disregarded basic safety and environmental standards, leading to a series of nuclear accidents.
When the plant was first commissioned there were no controls in place to limit the amount of
radioactive materials being released. This led to the local environment being massively contaminated,
including the Techa River, which had 3 million curies of liquid waste pumped into it between 1949
and 1956. In 1951 the waste was directed to the Lake Karachai resulting in 120 million curies being
released into its water. The levels of Lake Karachai dropped in 1967 due to a drought which exposed
the contaminated shoreline. A windstorm dispersed 600 curies into the surrounding environment
contaminating 2700km2. http://www.radiation scott.org/mayak.htm On the 29th September 1957 the
residents of the local town, Kyshtym, noticed bluish colours in the sky; the media speculated that it
was polar lights. It soon became evident that the occurrence was due to events taking place at

Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Heroic Qualities
Introduction background on mid late 1800 s and the Civil Rights Movement. Define what it would
take to be a hero during that time period. (Thesis) Elizabeth Cady Stanton demonstrated how she was
a hero through her passion for women s rights, her courage to stand up for what she believed, and her
ability to overcome the discrimination that she faced all her life. Elizabeth Cady Stanton showed
heroism through her strong passion for women s rights. All throughout her life, Stanton s actions
showed how passionate and determined she was. It was these two things that were the driving force
behind everything she did. This passion made Stanton hero because she was willing to go to lengths
that no one else would. Though Elizabeth Cady Stanton showed her passion throughout her whole life,
it became unmistakable when she was studying in her fathers law office after she graduated, when she
traveled to London for the International Anti Slavery Convention, and when she worked with Susan B.

father s law office. Elizabeth Cady Stanton graduated from Emma Williams Female Seminary in 1833,

Abstract
The goal of this essay is to focus on theory and implementation of the Balanced Scorecard system.
Because of the structured generic approach of the methodology, the Balanced Scorecard has gained its
popularity as means of evaluating performance and reporting quantitative performance results. The
balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business
and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide to align business activities to the
vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications, and monitor
organization performance against strategic goals (The Balanced Scorecard Institute, 2014). The
Balanced Scorecard is the most prevalent and adopted of the several strategic performance tools since
the early 1990s. In addition, the derivatives of the Balanced Scorecard such as Performance Prism and
Results Based Management have also gained prominence in the field of strategic performance
management and improvement. The Balanced Scorecard commenced as a performance management
tool that incorporated strategic non financial performance measures to the conventional financial
indicators in order to provide managers and company executives with a somewhat balanced view of
the aspect of organizational performance.

Elizabeth George Speare s The Witch Of Blackbird Pond
The Witch of Blackbird Pond, by Elizabeth George Speare, is a book set in the summer of 1687. This
is when people believed in witches and killed many innocent women because of their terrible fear that
they would be cursed. This setting will definitely affect the plot because the main character s actions,
while they could be considered normal now, were considered peculiar in the 1600 s. The main
character, Kit Tyler, is very bold and independent, and it is shown when she dives over the edge of a
boat to save a young girl s doll that fell into the water. Her daring personality could save or hurt her,
and I predict that she will find herself in trouble before long. The book is written in third person,
which is helpful because there is less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just because she lives on a lake far from the town and she owns many cats, people cannot trust her,
although they know nothing about her. But Kit is a very different girl, and she does not judge Hannah
by the rumors that swirl around her, which sets her apart from the majority of people. But Kit s
reputation begins to be tainted as more and more people figure out that she is visiting Hannah more
and more often, which once again, foreshadows to the events that are ahead. The author expertly uses
dialect to show the time period and the way that the people living in the 1600 s are wired. The average
person in the 1600 s has very different beliefs than the average person in the present, which makes the
main conflict more realistic and believable. Just as I predicted, Kit decides to create a skit that mocks
the Bible at school, and she chooses to perform it the day that the Headmaster comes to the school.
She is expelled from the school and almost gets her cousin Mercy expelled as well. Upset and stunned,
Kit goes to visit Hannah where she feels most at home because of the soothing and peaceful
environment. This is where she really feels a strong connection with Hannah, and she realizes that she
is actually a really sweet person, and the rumors that follow

Andrew Jackson Argumentative Essay
My Thoughts On Andrew Jackson
It is true, Andrew Jackson has been quoted saying My only two regrets in life, are that I did not hang
Calhoun and shoot Clay. In my personal conviction I believe that he did not say this out of an anger,
but as an explanation for his personal conflicts with Calhoun and Clay. I can see how people assumed
he was angry when he said this. Andrew Jackson had a reason to hate Calhoun, since Calhoun called
Andrew s wife a whore, and caused his family lots of problems. I think Jackson s anger towards Clay
started in 1819, when Clay castigated Jackson for his unauthorized invasion of west Florida. Clay was
also a big part of John Quincy Adams s winning of the presidency. Andrew Jackson, even though he

killed his men that left, he threatened his men, Jackson was responsible for the trail of tears, and
finally he left for battles that he did not have permission for. Andrew Jackson did do many inhuman
things though. Jackson led the battle of Horseshoe Bend. Jackson did do inhuman things like kill any

Liberia s Current Environmental Policy
In 2003, Civil war plagued Liberia formed The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA s
mission statement is as follows:
The Environmental Protection Agency of the Republic of Liberia is the principle authority for
implementing the national environmental policy and sustainable management law for the protection of
natural resources in Liberia. As a commitment to the environment, the Government of Liberia
established the EPA in 2003 under the EPAAct.The Agency became a fully functioning entity in 2006
with a board of directors and Policy Council. As the lead government environment protection Agency,
the EPA has been charged with the executive authority over all environmental activities and
programmes relating to environmental management in Liberia (The National Environmental 2003).
The agency is empowered with a list of 25 functions; none of which seem to be implemented.
Furthermore; it would seem that the agency is currently of little to no use for reasons that will be
addressed later. These reasons are despite the fact that the organization has clearly stated its ultimate
purpose as such:
It is the continuing responsibility of NECOLIB to use all practicable means possible, consistent with
other essential components of national policy, to improve and coordinate government s plans,

Bill Monroe Research Papers
William Smith Monroe, also known as Bill Monroe, was born in the mountains of Kentucky by a
small farm on September 13, 1911. J.B. Monroe, the father of Bill, decided to name his son after his
two brothers. Bill Monroe was most famous for creating a new style of American country folk music
style called Blue Grass . The name originated from his popular band, Blue Grass Boys , which started
in 1938. Despite people believing that his music was considered country, Bill Monroe is titled as The
Father of Blue Grass . He was also known for popularizing the Mandolin instrument. Bill Monroe
played the Mandolin because his older brothers, Charlie and Birch, would not allow him to play the
fiddle or guitar. His first instrument was a little Neapolitan style mandolin and he would never touch
another instrument for the rest of his career. Bill Monroe started his music career with his older
brothers and their band was called The Monroe Brothers . However, their chemistry as a band started
to fall. According to Richard D. Smith, By 1938, some fans of the Monroe Brothers noticed they were
beginning to arrive at shows separately and not speaking to each other, ignoring each other to the point
where they almost seemed facing in different directions onstage (Smith, pg. 44). The problem with the

How Does Alcohol Dehydrogenase
Question 1:
1. Enzymes: Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH)
2. Alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase helps separate the alcohol molecule, making it
more likely to remove it from the body.
ADH first metabolizes the alcohol to acetaldehyde, an extremely toxic matter, known as carcinogen.
Then, acetaldehyde is metabolized to a different by product called acetate that is broken down into
water and carbon dioxide.
 Acetaldehyde: a toxic by product
Acetaldehyde is a by product that only occurs early in the breakdown process. When acetaldehyde still
exists in the body only for a short amount of time before it is broken down into acetate. Acetate is

John Tyler was a President born on March 29, 1790. He was born in Charles City County, Virginia.
Like his father, Tyler was a governor in Virginia. Representing the Whig Party, James Knox Polk was
a very important president who was born in North Carolina in 1795 and went on to become the 11th
and youngest president in the United States. Polk was the last strong president before Lincoln. John
Tyler and James K Polk became two of the most important presidents in America History.
John Tyler spent a lot of his open vocation safeguarding subjugation from its adversaries at home and
abroad. This was particularly evident amid his administration, when the highborn, slaveholding

Shadows In Mildred Pierce
Questions One: Shadows in Mildred Pierce add depth not only to the cinmetophgray but also to the
characters as their intentions and motives throughout the film are revealed in a series of flashbacks. In
opening the film with a shootout the audience s perception of what happened thus becomes shaped
through the characters interactions with the lead character, Mildred. The shadows however help add
not only depth but also an air of mystery to the scenes, as they are most promonlty scenes in the house
where the murder takes place. In understanding the intentions behind shadows in this film how do they
contradict with the scenes in the daytime that take on just as much tension as the scenes performed at
night? Question Two: Laura Mulvey s male

Improving Sports At School Time
Many parents put special emphasis on learning math and natural science for their children than paying
attention to the importance of physical education. Even public schools do not allocate enough time for
kids to practice sports as much as they do for class based education. In fact, physical activity for
children is not only about pleasure time. Rather, it helps grown up children to extend their capacity to
grasp concepts explained in their classes. Children who are active while doing physical activity are
expected to be active at class time. Thus, encouraging sports at school time is essential for child
development not only for educational success but also for physical, social, mental, and moral
development(Griffin , 1998). Physical education helps kids to develop in many areas. Sports that
require collaboration between players can help them to grasp the importance of being a part of group
and how it is important to unify their effort with others to achieve certain goals. When it comes to
moral development, children will learn to accept that there are always winners and losers and it s not
wrong to be a loser. Moreover, since all kind of sports include competition, kids will have the chance
to be physically developed in an exciting atmosphere. All these benefits will positively affect students
outcome when they return to class. Therefore, public schools should consider physical activity as a
crucial component of their educational objectives(.Janssen and

Cigarette Smoking Persuasive Speech
Cigarette smoking is one of the biggest habits in the world at present. More than 16 million people
already have at least one disease from smoking. (CDC,2015) Cigarette smoking is estimated to lead to
4.9 premature deaths per year, with this number predicted to rise to a shocking 10 million by 2020.
(Novartis Foundation,2009) Cigarette smoking is a detrimental habit which leads to Cancer, heart
disease and COPD. (Novartis Foundation,2009) I believe in order to improve the health of citizens and
increase the population, cigarette smoking should be banned. Cigarettes, ex smokers, and life long non
smokers are often compared. (Novartis Foundation,2009) The findings show that the mortality of
continuing (Novartis Foundation,2009) cigarette smokers is, on average, at least twice (Novartis,2009)
that of life long non smokers throughout middle and old age. (Novartis Foundation,2009) In other

Behavior Therapy
Introduction The behavioral theory of counselling is a type of therapy that bases its foundation on the
belief that it is possible to learn behavior. Counsellors and therapists apply classic conditioning as one
way in which this type of therapy could be implemented and it is derived from the research conducted
by Ivan Pavolov. The theorist evaluated classic condition through an experiment with dogs, whereby
he focused on the impact of a learned response. Based on his study, Pavolov was able to determine
that behavior can be conditioned though the use of a stimulus (Fava et al., 2014). With regards to
domestic violence, it is possible to incorporate behavior therapy to reduce the prevalence of the
domestic violence in the society and to condition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cognitive Behavioral Theory Essay
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short term, problem centered therapy that is used to address
psychopathology within the individual (Beck, 1995). This model of therapy is used to address issues
of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relational problems, and drug abuse, and can be utilized when
working with individuals, as well as within group and family modalities. The core aspects of this
therapy include collaboration and participation by the client, a strong alliance between therapist and
client, and an initial focus on current problems and functioning (Beck, 1995). The theory of CBT
emphasizes the relationship between the individual s thoughts feelings and behaviors, which is seen as

Once an automatic thought occurs within the individual, it triggers a feeling, which in turn triggers the
individual s response, such as a behavior and/or physiological response. For example, after a young
child begins to pick up his blocks to be put away, his mother rubs him on the back and gives him
praise for his actions. His automatic thought may be, I am good when I put away blocks, triggering a
feeling of confidence, an increased level of physical energy, and the behavior of putting away the
remaining blocks.
Automatic thoughts can be neutral, positive, or negative. We all have our own automatic thoughts as
we move through our day to day lives and interact with others. In regards to individuals with
psychological disorders, the cognitive model looks at how negative thoughts influence the individual s
feelings and behaviors (Beck, 1995). From a CBT lens, it is the negative automatic thoughts that an
individual has that perpetuate symptoms of psychological disorders, the occurrence of negative mood,
uncomfortable physiological responses, and maladaptive or inappropriate behaviors (Beck, 1995).
While we all have moments of experiencing negative automatic thoughts, for those with psychological
disorders, and more pervasive difficulties in living, negative thoughts are often experienced in
situations that are neutral, producing negative feelings that lead to maladaptive behaviors or responses
that would not

Is Equality for All a Realistic and Desirable Aim Within...
Equality exists in many contexts. It can exist in the political level; individuals have the same rights
under the law. It can exist in a social level, between categories of people, for example gender, or race.
It can even exist on an individual level, as to how each person is treated. Equality cannot be confined
to simply equal opportunities for all; for an equal and fair process is still equality. An equal and fair
result is also equality. At each of the different level, equality shifts from being realistic or being
desirable, sometimes both, or sometimes neither.
Modern societies often take for granted that social quality is desirable. Democratic values mean

Hence one could argue that a certain degree of equality has been reached.
The same case can be made for racial tolerance. In the 19th Century wherein America was rife with
racial discrimination against the Afro Americans, there was strong opposition to even a mere
suggestion of equality between ‘blacks and ‘whites . In modern American, one can hardly see any
signs of the touchy issue that tore the nation into two in the past. In both these cases, education over a
long period of time is a clear factor; people gradually accept change. From known examples like Sri
Lanka and Rwanda, where ethnic conflict is rampant, it is not realistic to expect change through
imposing equality onto people through state policies. However, what the previous two examples have
shown is that too a certain degree it is realistic to aim for equality, given amply time to change the
mindsets of the people. How long would have to depend on the extent some mentalities are rooted in
people.
But just how equal are those two examples. In a sense they too do not reflect equality properly. For
example, there is still a slight degree, not of discrimination, but of expectations accorded to the
genders. In some companies, they prefer men because women have to be allowed to take paid
maternity leave, or least they might choose to leave the company in order to take care of children,

Scuba Technology Has Made A Tremendous Difference
SCUBA technology has come a long way since its primitive beginnings. From the days of when
Alexander the Great ruled ancient Greece, to the current combat divers in modern military s around
the world, SCUBA technology has dramatically increased the effectiveness and capabilities of any
maritime force. Focusing on tactical applications, the development of new and improved units, as well
as looking at how training has developed over the years, we can see how SCUBA technology has had
such a significant and positive impact on the effectiveness of maritime warfare. To start, SCUBA
technology has made a tremendous difference on how the U.S. Military tactically employs its soldiers,
sailors, airmen and marines in combat and in peacetime situations. The tactical applications used by
the U.S. Military have developed since the inception of the first underwater divers during the middle
of the nineteenth century. Back then, U.S. Navy Divers were limited mainly to salvage and repair of
ships, construction work, and some minor military operations in their field of work. In today s world,
U.S. Navy Divers are expected to perform diving salvage operations, participate in various
construction and demolition projects, execute search and rescue missions, support military and civilian
law enforcement, serve as technical experts for numerous special operations units, provide security,
communications, and other logistics during expeditionary warfare missions in the Navy. (Become a

Essay on The Sophistication of the Brain
To what extent is it true that the brain is a sophisticated information processor?
The human brain is the most important part of the nervous system. The brain along with the spinal
cord makes up the central nervous system and together they control all of the body s important
functions, such as motor functions, speech, vision, hearing and also involuntary functions like
breathing. Many of these functions are localised to a specific area of the cerebrum. The cerebrum is
split into four lobes; the frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobes, which are specialised to carry
out their different roles. The cortex is divided into two hemispheres; the left hemisphere is associated
with motor control, speech and language functions and logic; ... Show more content on

They both transmit information by using electricity; however, the brain uses chemical messages as
well as electrical impulses. A computer can process information much faster than the brain can; for
example mathematical calculations can be carried out immediately on a computer rather than having
to work out the answer logically like the brain would have to. However, the brain is capable of
emotion, imagination and creativity, whereas a computer can only follow the instructions given to it.
Another important comparison between the brain and a computer is the fact that the brain cannot be
turned off unlike a computer. If any part of a computer gets damaged, it is easily replaceable.
However, if an important part of the brain is in any way damaged, it can be difficult to regain normal
function and near impossible to replace it.
The brain is given the analogy of the hardware and software of a computer. The brain is seen as the
hardware as it is the physical structure and the mind is viewed as the software. This is because
software is not physical and somewhat controls what processes can be carried out on a computer. A
computer has a hard disk which can store a large volume of information, which is similar to the long
term memory store in the brain. Short term memory is stored in the brain, much like RAM in a
computer (Lytton, 2002). Information processing

The Pros And Cons Of Stress Management
Stress is a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding
circumstances (Dictionary.com). Stress management is any technique developed to help someone cope
with or lessen the physical and emotional effects of everyday life pressure (Dictionary.com). There are
different types of stress that we deal with on a daily basis, but sometimes we may not even know what
type of stress we are dealing with. We deal with good and bad stress, but that s why it is important to
know about stressors our bodies are going through so that we can be aware of it and try to find a way
to minimize stress. Sometimes stress can be a positive force, motivating you to perform well on a job
interview or speaking at an important event (American Psychological Association). I find myself
dealing with stress because of all the hard work I have to do in all my classes in order for me to keep a
good grade in classes. I knew that I was stressing because my hands will get real sweaty, my heart
beats really fast, I have panic attacks, and I get depressed so I had to relieve some of my stress by
eliminating one of my classes and it helped me out a little bit. There are different types of stress levels;
ways that can help you manage stress, and disadvantages/cons of stress. We may not even know what
types of stress we are going through until we realize that our body language has changed and we are
stressing out about everything. The most common stress is acute

Karl Marx was one of the greatest thinkers ever. Studying law and philosophy, he became an
important social philosopher and revolutionary. He influenced the lives of millions of people in
generations well past his. A man of mystery in the democratic societies, Karl Marx led an interesting
life of new ideas that would influence millions in the future.
Karl Marx was born on May 5th, 1818 (Karl Marx). He was the eldest son of Heinrich and Hennrietta

many editorials from a variety of social issues. He also wrote about the new phenomenon of

On June 19th, 1843, Karl Heinrich Marx was wedded to Jenny von Westphalen. The marriage took
place seven years after their engagement (Marx). Jenny was an attractive, intelligent, and much
admired woman. She was four years older than Karl ( Marx, Karl , Britannica). Karl Marx s wife was
the sister of the women who later became the Prussian Minister of the Interior (Walmsley). Jenny gave
birth to seven children, one dying at birth, leaving six. Their names were Jenny, Laura, Edgar,
Heinrich, Franziska, and Eleanor. Only Jenny, Laura, and Eleanor survived into their teens (Basgen).
After much writing on social problems Karl began to take much interest in communism, which was a
new idea being spread (Walmsley). Marx decided to summarize these ideas into his own book. He
would change the way people lived for years to come. In late 1847 Karl Marx wrote the Manifesto of

The computer is one of the greatest gifts from science. If we check history, computer was just a name
of a job title. That name has transferred to a machine as we see computers in this generation. Then,
Scientists have invented biocomputers with systems included to build out of genes, proteins, cells and
O.R. operations. Biocomputers have become so advanced over the past few years. In 2000, first big
innovations came to Boston University by James Collins and his colleagues. They have stitched
together inhering genes to make a genetic switch. Also, synthetic biologists performed all basics
Boolean operations of digital logic by creating genetic parts. In 2011, researchers programmed cells to

Harmful Causes Of Lifestyle Diseases
Lifestyle diseases refer to diseases that are associated to the daily routines of the people. Lifestyle
diseases have been pervaded to the population globally due to poor lifestyle choices. Lifestyle diseases
must be taken seriously because several deaths are caused by lifestyle diseases. Too much smoking,
consumption of alcohol, physical inactivity, inadequate sleep, and unhealthy diet contributed to the
development of lifestyle diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, chronic diseases including obesity,
hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus and various kinds of cancers. It was stated that many patients
lack preparations to start to maintain healthy habits despite being encouraged by doctors. (Golubic

Non communicable diseases or chronic diseases such as cancers, cardiovascular diseases, chronic

Allegorical Meanings of LOTF.
Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is basically represented by three big allegories as a whole;
Political, Historical, and Religious. The allegorical meaning for the novel differs from each category
of allegory. For political, later in the book, there are two different clashing tribes representing a
different type of government. The Historical allegory compares the main characters such as Simon,
Piggy, or Ralph to famous or infamous historical people. Lastly, the meaning of the religious allegory

The first thing Ralph does when he gets to the island is take off his clothes and take a bath in the

than his blood and he might have been swimming in a huge bath. (Golding, 12) This gesture relates to
the act of Baptism and the innocence of Adam and Eve. Later in the book, the boys become more
savage than civilised trying to find the beast, or snake thing when it is really just hiding inside of
them. This is just like how Adam and Eve were fooled by the satan that disguised himself as a serpent.

Representative Democracy Essay
The political system I would use for Viva la Vida Islands, is the Representative Democracy. I think it s
better to have citizens vote on representatives to represent them, rather than gathering everybody to

citizens vote for a leader that has a voice for them and that they trust. Using this system would be
easier and fairer making everyone have a voice in one way or another.
It s certainly better than a communism or a dictatorship. I chose this route since, I disagree with
communism. I don t believe that everybody should have the same pay as each other. It s certainly
unfair for a McDonalds worker to earn the same pay as a builder. I believe the harder you work, the

Complex Adaptive Systems Of Healthcare Organizations Of...
Complex Adaptive Systems
Healthcare organizations of the past century were designed from 17th century ideology of the universe
based on the teachings of Sir Isaac Newton and Sir Francis Bacon. This was a predictable and reliable
world based on the viewpoint that organizations are machines and as individuals, we are merely cogs
in a wheel, fulfilling a role and playing our part. However, this understanding has be eradicated by the
idea that people and organizations are fluid, dynamic and living organisms. Newton s clockwork
universe, in which big problems can be broken down into smaller ones, analyzed, and solved by
rational deduction, has strongly influenced both the practice of medicine and the leadership of
organizations. But the machine metaphor lets us down badly when no part of the equation is constant,
independent, or predictable. The new science of complex adaptive systems states that in order to cope
with escalating complexity in health care we must abandon linear models, accept unpredictability,
respect (and utilize) autonomy and creativity, and respond flexibly to emerging patterns and
opportunities (Plsek Greenhalgh, 2001).

the rapid population growth. In developing countries most of the growth is in very large urban centres,
for example, the Nairobi of today is very different from what it was 15 years ago both in population
and property.

The reinsurers then provide protection to primary insurers by insuring a portion of their claims in
exchange for a premium.
Why take Catastrophe Protection?
Insurance companies should know their exposure to catastrophic perils affecting properties they have
insured; if ignored, these perils can be life threatening because:
Compared with non catastrophe type of perils, catastrophe perils are unpredictable as to location,
frequency, and severity. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy
limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the
event.
The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have
infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company.
The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly,
catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise.
After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the
eventualities.
Management through Traditional Reinsurance
Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which
covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fuel Cell Technology
One of the greatest problem faced by the world is pollution, which is causing a lot of damage to the
planet which is irreparable damage. The damaged being caused is affecting the human society by
polluting the basic needs like fresh air, water and food (Everythingconnects.org, 2013). Pollution
caused by humans is rising daily and as a result radical changes to the planet are happening. Pollution
is caused by many things, but a major contributor is the automobile industry. Vehicles which are part
of our lives, they are emitting greenhouse gas which causes pollution.
Today there are about 1.2 billion cars on road in the world (Voelcker, 2014) and fossil fuels like petrol,
coal and crude oil are not renewable and burning these fuels causes ... Show more content on

The positive terminal is a catalyst which is meant to speed up the chemistry in the fuel cell. When
atoms of hydrogen reach the catalyst they split into hydrogen ions protons and electrons. The protons
which are positive they attract towards the negative terminal and travel from electrolyte towards this
layer is made up of plastic film and only protons can pass through it. This process powers the electric
motor the fuel cell is made of stacks of fuel cells because a single fuel cell has power similar to a
single battery.
The central theme is exploring if Fuel cell technology can be a viable alternative to fossil fuel cars.
Firstly, most cars on road use petrol or diesel. As fossil fuels are non renewable these fuels are crude
oil fossil fuels and have taken years to form, but fuels are used at a faster rate than formed.
Furthermore, the combustion of these fuels leads to global warming and climate change caused by
greenhouse gases from the combustion. These effects can be solved by using fuel cells as a
replacement for fossil fuels. fuel cells have near zero emissions, as fuel cell cars use hydrogen gas as
fuel. The hydrogen gas reacts with oxygen from the air, this reaction s end result is electricity and
water (Torres, 2014). The use of fuel cells will drastically lower the amount of greenhouse gases
released, as only water comes out of the exhaust instead of CO2 and N2. The effect of that

Ernest Hemingway is an extremely talented author whose classic novella was a very inspirational
piece. The Old Man and the Sea, was a short novel that involved Santiago, an old fisherman who was
unable to fish for eighty four days, going on a fishing trip to see if his luck would change around. He
results in catching an eighteen foot Marlin, but faces many obstacles when attempting to take him
home. The book was filled with vivid details and superb language, motivational themes, and a
dynamic main character who thrives through it all. With this said, Hemingway s The Old Man and the
Sea deserves an A for his incredible ability to write. Hemingway has an exceptional way of

The Military Decision Making Process
The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is a repeating plan of procedures used to understand
the situation and mission, develop a course of action, and produce an operation plan or order. The
MDMP integrates the intangible and comprehensive aspects of planning and integrates the activities of
the commander, staff, subordinate headquarters, and other partner involved in the planning process.
We need the MDMP because it allows the leader to apply thoroughness, clarity, sound judgment,
logic, and professional knowledge to understand conditions, develop choices to solve problems, and
obtain results. The MDMP aids in the collaboration and planning with the higher headquarters. The
higher headquarters gather and shares information concerning future operations with subordinate and
neighboring units, supporting units, and unified action partners. They plan meetings, issues warning
orders or use other means. The MDMP consists of 7 steps that have numerous inputs and outputs. The
outputs can lead to an increasing understanding of the situation. The commanders and the staffs
perform these steps consecutively. They may revisit several steps as they learn more about the
situation before constructing a plan or order. The 7 steps of the MDMP are receipt of mission, mission
analysis, course of action development, course of action analysis, course of action comparison, course
of action approval, and orders production.
The first step is the receipt of the mission. The

American Traditions In Ww1
As the war in Europe raged on, President Woodrow Wilson aimed to keep the United States out of the
war, and many Americans agreed. It was an American tradition to stay out of the wars of Europe, and
many people did not want to break that tradition. On August 4, 1914 Wilson formally announces the
United States neutrality, encouraging Americans to be impartial in thought as well as in action. Even
though America was neutral, several Americans sided with different countries. Many German and
Irish Americans supported the Central powers. Other Americans supported the Allies, wanting to side
with Britain. They shared a similar language, history, and culture. Slavic Americans also sided with
the Allies. To win American support, the Allied and Central

Forced Convection Heat Transfer
Forced Convection Heat Transfer
I. Introduction
This laboratory deals with forced convection, forced convection can be considered as a staple of heat
transfer. That is to say that forced convection can be found in almost any heat transfer problem, and
thus understanding its importance and how it affects a given problem is one of the more important
learning objectives/outcomes of heat transfer.
When dealing with forced convection the most important section, after understanding how convection
works, is the convection heat transfer coefficient. The heat transfer coefficient for convection is
denoted by (h) and is measured in w/m^2*K, this lab delves into the application of convection heat

  • 3. The Deployment Of Economic Sanctions On The International... The deployment of economic sanctions on the international stage by states to influence the behavior of other states has become the norm in International Relations. Despite the increase in popularity of this practice over the course of the past century, the question of its efficiency is one that is still debated and remains unanswered. The idea that putting economic pressures on a country to illicit a certain behavior or change in behavior from that country works in theory, but in practice, it is more complicated and does not necessarily work the way that theory suggests it should. Some economists and policy analysts have taken the approach of deconstructing the subject in order to consider what variable may or may not affect the efficiency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Positive sanctions are meant to foster relations between countries. Negative sanctions are intended to cause another country economic harm. The debate around economic sanctions typically focuses on the negative kind. Sanctions can be unilateral from one sender country to one target country or multilateral from multiple countries. Multilateral sanctions can be orchestrated by one main country supported by other countries, or they can be sent under the auspices of an international organization. Raul Caruso distinguishes three different kinds of negative sanctions boycotts, embargoes, and Kassim 3 financial sanctions. A boycott is the restriction of imports from the target country; embargoes are restrictions on exports to the target country; financial sanctions are restrictions on investment in the target country (Caruso Should We Set 23). Kaempfer and Lowenberg posit that economic sanctions can be proposed for the following three reasons: in response to a nation that threatens the wealth or security of the sender nation; to achieve moral or ideological goals; as a part of trade policy and commercial relations i.e. in response to tariffs or quotas (Kaempfer 2). The question of whether or not sanctions are efficient is a difficult one to answer. A major contributing factor to this difficulty is the lack of a universal standard for gauging success. When Jorgen Vig Knudstrop stepped in as CEO in 2003, he described the then financial state of the company as a burning platform which generated negative cash flows that would lead to its eventual collapse (Ashcroft 3). Sadly, his portrayal was not that far from the truth. LEGO strayed too far from its core business of manufacturing building blocks and ventured in industries which it no knowledge or specific skills sets to compete in ( Fun and Games: The LEGO Success Story 2). This is when people believed in witches and killed many innocent women because of their terrible fear that they would be cursed. This setting will definitely affect the plot because the main character s actions, while they could be considered normal now, were considered peculiar in the 1600 s. The main character, Kit Tyler, is very bold and independent, and it is shown when she dives over the edge of a boat to save a young girl s doll that fell into the water. Then, acetaldehyde is metabolized to a different by product called acetate that is broken down into water and carbon dioxide.  Acetaldehyde: a toxic by product Acetaldehyde is a by product that only occurs early in the breakdown process. • 25. Improving Sports At School Time Many parents put special emphasis on learning math and natural science for their children than paying attention to the importance of physical education. Even public schools do not allocate enough time for kids to practice sports as much as they do for class based education. In fact, physical activity for children is not only about pleasure time. Rather, it helps grown up children to extend their capacity to grasp concepts explained in their classes. Children who are active while doing physical activity are expected to be active at class time. Thus, encouraging sports at school time is essential for child development not only for educational success but also for physical, social, mental, and moral development(Griffin , 1998). Physical education helps kids to develop in many areas. Sports that require collaboration between players can help them to grasp the importance of being a part of group and how it is important to unify their effort with others to achieve certain goals. When it comes to moral development, children will learn to accept that there are always winners and losers and it s not wrong to be a loser. Moreover, since all kind of sports include competition, kids will have the chance to be physically developed in an exciting atmosphere. All these benefits will positively affect students outcome when they return to class. Counsellors and therapists apply classic conditioning as one way in which this type of therapy could be implemented and it is derived from the research conducted by Ivan Pavolov. The theorist evaluated classic condition through an experiment with dogs, whereby he focused on the impact of a learned response. His automatic thought may be, I am good when I put away blocks, triggering a feeling of confidence, an increased level of physical energy, and the behavior of putting away the remaining blocks. Automatic thoughts can be neutral, positive, or negative. We all have our own automatic thoughts as we move through our day to day lives and interact with others. In regards to individuals with psychological disorders, the cognitive model looks at how negative thoughts influence the individual s feelings and behaviors (Beck, 1995). From a CBT lens, it is the negative automatic thoughts that an individual has that perpetuate symptoms of psychological disorders, the occurrence of negative mood, uncomfortable physiological responses, and maladaptive or inappropriate behaviors (Beck, 1995). • 30. Is Equality for All a Realistic and Desirable Aim Within... Equality exists in many contexts. It can exist in the political level; individuals have the same rights under the law. It can exist in a social level, between categories of people, for example gender, or race. It can even exist on an individual level, as to how each person is treated. Equality cannot be confined to simply equal opportunities for all; for an equal and fair process is still equality. An equal and fair result is also equality. At each of the different level, equality shifts from being realistic or being desirable, sometimes both, or sometimes neither. Modern societies often take for granted that social quality is desirable. Democratic values mean people from all backgrounds should be given an equal say to affect decisions in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence one could argue that a certain degree of equality has been reached. The same case can be made for racial tolerance. In the 19th Century wherein America was rife with racial discrimination against the Afro Americans, there was strong opposition to even a mere suggestion of equality between ‘blacks and ‘whites . In modern American, one can hardly see any signs of the touchy issue that tore the nation into two in the past. In both these cases, education over a long period of time is a clear factor; people gradually accept change. From known examples like Sri Lanka and Rwanda, where ethnic conflict is rampant, it is not realistic to expect change through imposing equality onto people through state policies. However, what the previous two examples have shown is that too a certain degree it is realistic to aim for equality, given amply time to change the mindsets of the people. How long would have to depend on the extent some mentalities are rooted in people. But just how equal are those two examples. In a sense they too do not reflect equality properly. For example, there is still a slight degree, not of discrimination, but of expectations accorded to the genders. From the days of when Alexander the Great ruled ancient Greece, to the current combat divers in modern military s around the world, SCUBA technology has dramatically increased the effectiveness and capabilities of any maritime force. Focusing on tactical applications, the development of new and improved units, as well as looking at how training has developed over the years, we can see how SCUBA technology has had such a significant and positive impact on the effectiveness of maritime warfare. To start, SCUBA technology has made a tremendous difference on how the U.S. Military tactically employs its soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines in combat and in peacetime situations. The tactical applications used by the U.S. Military have developed since the inception of the first underwater divers during the middle of the nineteenth century. • 32. Essay on The Sophistication of the Brain To what extent is it true that the brain is a sophisticated information processor? The human brain is the most important part of the nervous system. The brain along with the spinal cord makes up the central nervous system and together they control all of the body s important functions, such as motor functions, speech, vision, hearing and also involuntary functions like breathing. Many of these functions are localised to a specific area of the cerebrum. The cerebrum is split into four lobes; the frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobes, which are specialised to carry out their different roles. They both transmit information by using electricity; however, the brain uses chemical messages as well as electrical impulses. A computer can process information much faster than the brain can; for example mathematical calculations can be carried out immediately on a computer rather than having to work out the answer logically like the brain would have to. However, the brain is capable of emotion, imagination and creativity, whereas a computer can only follow the instructions given to it. Another important comparison between the brain and a computer is the fact that the brain cannot be turned off unlike a computer. If any part of a computer gets damaged, it is easily replaceable. However, if an important part of the brain is in any way damaged, it can be difficult to regain normal function and near impossible to replace it. The brain is given the analogy of the hardware and software of a computer. The brain is seen as the hardware as it is the physical structure and the mind is viewed as the software. This is because software is not physical and somewhat controls what processes can be carried out on a computer. A computer has a hard disk which can store a large volume of information, which is similar to the long term memory store in the brain. Short term memory is stored in the brain, much like RAM in a computer (Lytton, 2002). Information processing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Complex Adaptive Systems Healthcare organizations of the past century were designed from 17th century ideology of the universe based on the teachings of Sir Isaac Newton and Sir Francis Bacon. However, this understanding has be eradicated by the idea that people and organizations are fluid, dynamic and living organisms. Newton s clockwork universe, in which big problems can be broken down into smaller ones, analyzed, and solved by rational deduction, has strongly influenced both the practice of medicine and the leadership of organizations. Increasing earthquake damage in recent years is evidence of rising vulnerability for the communities as more people with more valuable property are residing in earthquake prone areas as it is observed by the rapid population growth. In developing countries most of the growth is in very large urban centres, for example, the Nairobi of today is very different from what it was 15 years ago both in population and property. The destruction from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reinsurers then provide protection to primary insurers by insuring a portion of their claims in exchange for a premium. Why take Catastrophe Protection? Insurance companies should know their exposure to catastrophic perils affecting properties they have insured; if ignored, these perils can be life threatening because: Compared with non catastrophe type of perils, catastrophe perils are unpredictable as to location, frequency, and severity. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the event. The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company. The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly, catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise. After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the eventualities. Management through Traditional Reinsurance Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

  • 46. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fuel Cell Technology One of the greatest problem faced by the world is pollution, which is causing a lot of damage to the planet which is irreparable damage. The damaged being caused is affecting the human society by polluting the basic needs like fresh air, water and food (Everythingconnects.org, 2013). Pollution caused by humans is rising daily and as a result radical changes to the planet are happening. Pollution is caused by many things, but a major contributor is the automobile industry. Vehicles which are part of our lives, they are emitting greenhouse gas which causes pollution. Today there are about 1.2 billion cars on road in the world (Voelcker, 2014) and fossil fuels like petrol, coal and crude oil are not renewable and burning these fuels causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The positive terminal is a catalyst which is meant to speed up the chemistry in the fuel cell. When atoms of hydrogen reach the catalyst they split into hydrogen ions protons and electrons. The protons which are positive they attract towards the negative terminal and travel from electrolyte towards this layer is made up of plastic film and only protons can pass through it. This process powers the electric motor the fuel cell is made of stacks of fuel cells because a single fuel cell has power similar to a single battery. The central theme is exploring if Fuel cell technology can be a viable alternative to fossil fuel cars. Firstly, most cars on road use petrol or diesel. As fossil fuels are non renewable these fuels are crude oil fossil fuels and have taken years to form, but fuels are used at a faster rate than formed. Furthermore, the combustion of these fuels leads to global warming and climate change caused by greenhouse gases from the combustion. These effects can be solved by using fuel cells as a replacement for fossil fuels. fuel cells have near zero emissions, as fuel cell cars use hydrogen gas as fuel. The hydrogen gas reacts with oxygen from the air, this reaction s end result is electricity and water (Torres, 2014). The use of fuel cells will drastically lower the amount of greenhouse gases released, as only water comes out of the exhaust instead of CO2 and N2. The effect of that ... • 48. The Military Decision Making Process The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is a repeating plan of procedures used to understand the situation and mission, develop a course of action, and produce an operation plan or order. The MDMP integrates the intangible and comprehensive aspects of planning and integrates the activities of the commander, staff, subordinate headquarters, and other partner involved in the planning process. We need the MDMP because it allows the leader to apply thoroughness, clarity, sound judgment, logic, and professional knowledge to understand conditions, develop choices to solve problems, and obtain results. The MDMP aids in the collaboration and planning with the higher headquarters. The higher headquarters gather and shares information concerning future operations with subordinate and neighboring units, supporting units, and unified action partners. They plan meetings, issues warning orders or use other means. The MDMP consists of 7 steps that have numerous inputs and outputs. The outputs can lead to an increasing understanding of the situation. The commanders and the staffs perform these steps consecutively. They may revisit several steps as they learn more about the situation before constructing a plan or order. The 7 steps of the MDMP are receipt of mission, mission analysis, course of action development, course of action analysis, course of action comparison, course of action approval, and orders production. The first step is the receipt of the mission. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. American Traditions In Ww1 As the war in Europe raged on, President Woodrow Wilson aimed to keep the United States out of the war, and many Americans agreed. It was an American tradition to stay out of the wars of Europe, and many people did not want to break that tradition. On August 4, 1914 Wilson formally announces the United States neutrality, encouraging Americans to be impartial in thought as well as in action. Even though America was neutral, several Americans sided with different countries. Many German and Irish Americans supported the Central powers. Other Americans supported the Allies, wanting to side with Britain. They shared a similar language, history, and culture. Slavic Americans also sided with the Allies. • 51. Forced Convection Heat Transfer Forced Convection Heat Transfer I. Introduction This laboratory deals with forced convection, forced convection can be considered as a staple of heat transfer. That is to say that forced convection can be found in almost any heat transfer problem, and thus understanding its importance and how it affects a given problem is one of the more important learning objectives/outcomes of heat transfer. When dealing with forced convection the most important section, after understanding how convection works, is the convection heat transfer coefficient. The heat transfer coefficient for convection is denoted by (h) and is measured in w/m^2*K, this lab delves into the application of convection heat transfer and how it correlates to ...
