Hektor s Heroic Code
Hektors glory is being compared to his fate in the simile from(22.365 367). He fights like a
soaring eagle: he is graceful, strong and swift. He fights for his home his people and his family
proving this by standing up to Achilles even though he knows he will die. The heroic code is more
important to Hektor then his own life. Twice prior to his fight with AchillesHektor had backed
away from a fight against great Ajax. By backing away from these fights he is able to achieve
kleos. Although this does make him less heroic it proves that the Gods have the decision of life
and death for each character. Zeus even pities Hektor before his fight with Achilles and asks the
other gods if he should be saved. Even though Hektor has backed away from

The Concept of Energy Intake and Expenditure in Sports...
Task 2 Describe (P3) or explain (M1) the concept of energy intake and expenditure in sports
performance.
The concept of energy intake and expenditure refers to the amount of calories per day that an
individual consumes, and is the chemical energy in foods which can be metabolized to produce
energy available to the body. As stated before energy is obtained from the foods we eat and is used
to support an individual s Basal Metabolic Rate, energy is measured in calories or joules as both
units are very small they are multiplied by 1,000 and referred to as kilocalories. Different foods
provide us with different amounts of energy, and the potential fuel sources available to exercising

The energy cost of football is estimated as being 16.4kcal per minute amounting to 1480 kcal for a
90 minute match. This therefore highlights that the individual needs post match fluid and food
intake in order to replace lost energy.
Task 3 Describe (P4), explain (M2) or analyse (D1) the importance of energy balance and their
effect on sports performance.
Energy is expended in a number of different ways such as the stated above; resting metabolic rate,
thermic effect of activity, thermic effect of feeding and adaptive thermogenesis. An individual s
energy balance is the balance of calories consumed through eating and drinking compared to
calories burned through physical activity, what an individual drinks and eat is energy in. what an
individual burns though physical activity is energy out. Body weight is maintained and stable in
the state of energy balance, the chemical bonds of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in food contain
chemical energy which is then transformed in the human body in multiple metabolic processes to
cellular energy, heat or stored energy. An individual s burns a certain number of calories just by
breathing air and digested food. They also burn a certain number of calories through their daily
routine, an important part of maintaining energy balance is the amount of physical activity an

The Utah And Minnesota Incident Reporting
Preventable health care errors contribute to at least 44,000 deaths per year, increasing the cost of
health care and limiting public trust. The Adverse Health Event Law passed in 2003 requires
disclosure and examination of specific unfavorable events with corrective action plans with some
aspects shared publically in order to educate consumers about healthcare facilities issues and
improvements (MDH 2015).
Review of the Utah and Minnesota Incident reporting mandates provided various state statutes and
reporting responsibilities to the state s government and regulatory agencies. Reports of adverse
events must be reported in various methods among states. For example, Utah and Minnesota require
each individual facility, hospital, outpatient centers, and clinics, to report the adverse events that
occur at the particular facility. Specifically, in Minnesota if the Boards that regulate physicians,
nurses, podiatrist, physician assistants, and/or pharmacists are aware of an adverse event, the
specific board holds the responsibility to report the events to the Minnesota Department of Health.
Adverse events consist of defined elements within states in the categories of surgical, product or
device, patient protection, case management, environmental, and potential criminal events,
essentially providing events that produce irreversible patient harm. However, differences among
these two states exist as Utah provides more specific descriptions in the case management events

Why Did George Orwell Write 1984
What events caused George Orwell to write 1984? George Orwell originally wrote 1984 as a
warning. Orwell experienced first hand many political takeovers which inspired his hatred of
authority.
Orwell s background begins with him being born into as he describes a lower upper middle class
family. Orwell was born in Bengal India on the twenty fifth of June, 1903, originally under the
name Eric Arthur Blair. Orwell was of the sahib class. This basically means that he was to be
treated with respect by most everyone. Sahib is a courteous way of saying Mister (Mr.) or
Mistress (Mrs.). He went to a very prestigious boarding school. While he was in school Orwell
challenged authority. It is believed that school is where his hatred for authority first ... Show more

His hatred lead to him agreeing with anarchy ideals and before long Orwell was calling himself an
anarchist. In the late 1930 s however Orwell found himself agreeing with Socialist ideals. This led
him to writing his first socialist book The Road to Wigan Pier. This novel describes what he saw
when he lived in the slums. After this book was printed Orwell found himself in Spain. During
the time that the Spanish Civil War was going on. Orwell soon found himself involved with this
war. He rose in rank very quickly, and was soon a Second Lieutenant on the Aragon and Teruel
fronts. Sadly he was badly injured in Teruel, and had major damage to his voice. In May 1937,
he flees Spain in fear for his life. His experienced left him with an extreme hatred of communism,
which lead him to write Homage to Catalonia. This novel is a favorite of many, however his
greatest work is considered to be Nineteen Eighty Four. Nineteen Eighty Four is meant to be a
warning. He wished to never see a society such as the one in Nineteen Eighty Four. Nineteen
Eighty four describes the dangers of a totalitarian society. He is able to vividly explain what will
happen if the government has total control. This is because of his first hand experience dealing
with Communism in Spain, and Russia. Nineteen Eighty Four is an extremely well written novel

Role Of Frugality In Colonial America
Writing Assignment Option 1C Students have often debated whether a morality based or profit
based approach proved more influential in shaping colonial American economies. Colonial
Americans are influenced by both moral and profit in their economies, when taking into
consideration industry, care, frugality, or knowledge. A morality based approach takes into
consideration ethics and values, while a profit based approach focuses on making as much money
as possible. Although there were ways colonial American economies were influenced by profit,
colonial American economies were more influenced by morals due to the features and values of
their economic system. To begin with, people are making use of natural resources by making them

This can be seen in luxurious lifestyles such as William Byrd s, in which he constantly reads,
such as Homer, Hebrew and Dutch. Franklin also expresses the idea of knowledge in a sense of
morality by explaining that it is important to be able to be advised, for without that one cannot
be helped, and therefore cannot learn. It was important to be able to learn in order to know what
things lead to wealth. For example, agriculture was a vital aspect of the colonial economy. It was
important to note that Staple Crops, such as tobacco, wheat, and corn, were the crops that helped
provide a foundation in which the colonies were able to grow rapidly. This is because most
Puritans were farmers, and in order for them to keep up with the economy and obtain more wealth,
they had to take a morality based approach on knowledge and

Anna Karenina Essay
In Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy presents marriage in a realistic sense, marriage is not an easy
institution; couples must work through the rough patches in order for it to be strong; he also
presents passion as a force that can have a positive influence, but simultaneously presents passion
as a factor that can have a corrupting power on a person s life. These two couples, Levin and Kitty
and Vronsky and Anna, are compared throughout the course of the novel. Levin and Kitty differ
from Anna and Vronsky because they do not communicate in the same ways. Kitty and Levin try to
resolve issues as they arise, so that they do not create a bigger issue. Another difference is that Ann
and Vronsky are sheltered from society because of Anna s position... Show more content on

They are completely open with each other, no matter how difficult the subject is to talk about.
Anna and Vronsky are completely different with respect to their communication. They are
described as having a dark and powerful spiritual bond (Merezhlevosky, pg.772). Because their
relationship is based solely on love, it is harder for them to communicate effectively. Rather than
take the time to solve a problem, Anna and Vronsky blame each other for the problems. Anna is
described as getting more and more heated and thereby betraying the cause of her irritation
(pg.326). Anna simply gets angry and as a result cannot have a conversation with Vronsky. This is
quite different from the Anna we are introduced to early on in the novel. She is portrayed as a
sweet, charming woman. This kind of attitude is not at all what is expected of Anna. Vronsky is
does not handle situations well either. At one point in an argument, Vronsky leaves. He is described
as having announced his departure (pg.584). Unlike Kitty and Levin, Anna and Vronsky try to
avoid each other when an issue comes up.
Because of Anna s position as a fallen woman, she and Vronsky lead rather different social lives
than do Kitty and Levin. As Anna and Vronsky s relationship develops and becomes public, their
interactions with society become dulled. At one point, Anna wishes to go to the theatre; however
Vronsky and vises her not to because society

Implementation And Feedback Systems ( Maclay, 2015 )
Development in practice: why projects fail and how to address these failures
During the last decades, the way Development is managed and how it addresses problems have
evolved. As conventional approaches failed to meet objectives, successive actions have tried to
make development practice more efficient and participatory. Nonetheless, difficulties persist, with
an increasing trade off between achieving equity through participation and the efficiency of
managerialism. Linear, pre designed implementation models like the blueprint are still the main
approaches to put theory into practice (Maclay, 2015).
In this context and in line with the material studied in the course, I will argue that development
projects face three types of problems: operational, cognitive and power. To enhance project
effectiveness, these call for different complementary solutions: more flexibility in implementation
and feedback systems (Maclay, 2015); a balance between participation and top down authority with
increased accountability (Brett, 2003); and the empowerment of the local considering the political
context (Andrews et al., 2013; Mohan and Stokke, 2000).
To be sure, these strategies are no panacea. Nonetheless, they can help overcome some glaring
failures in the current approaches, while any new problem should be analysed in an iterative
problem solving process through learning systems that could help design better measures in the
future. Additionally, for these measures to succeed, there is a

evaluation of the current situation in 1625 and future prospects for the further colonization of
mainland America will include comments about economic opportunities, living conditions, threats,
dangers and motivation of residents who remain committed to American settlement. It will review
the situation and future prospects in the Jamestown, Plymouth and Dutch settlement areas.

Tribal leadership changed in 1622 23. Indian attacks killed over 700 colonists and destroyed
crops and supplies in what was called the Jamestown Massacre ( The Colonies: Jamestown ).
Hunger remains a major hardship. Salt water poisoned colonists. A drought and massive fire
destroyed crops and killed all but 60 colonists (Captain John Smith qtd. in Miller, 84 85). Gross
mismanagement has failed to improve living conditions (Kelly). 1609 was labeled the starving
time. Only native plants and a few fish sustained the settlers. Desperate colonists cannibalized
buried Indians and even family members (Captain John Smith qtd. in Miller, 85). Tobacco
became the colony s sole cash crop and main source of revenue by 1612 with exports to England
increasing from 2,300 pounds in 1616 to over 49,000 pounds by 1618. Importation of slaves to
work in the fields began in 1619 ( The Colonies: Jamestown ). Settlers remain in Jamestown

Worst Humanitarian Crisis
Last week, I read an article in the New York Times, called It s a Slow Death : The World s Worst
Humanitarian Crisis. It talked about the recent cholera outbreak in Yemen, which killed almost
2,000 people in three weeks and infected over 500,000.
The authors have presented three critical graphs in this article. The first one is a thematic map of
cholera case density in Yemen. The map shows that western Yemen is the most heavily affected,
several parts of which have reached an infection rate of 300 per 10,000 people. In the second
graph, a comparison is made among the cholera outbreaks in different countries in the past 50
years, while Yemen mounted towards other largest outbreaks such as those in Peru (1991) and Haiti
(2011). The third one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Yemen has long been the poorest country in the Arab world, the ongoing civil war has
ruined most of its basic infrastructure, including transportation system, hospitals, and sewage. Poor
hygiene provides a hotbed for the cholera virus, which breeds inside the already malnourished
people and is later aggravated by the shortage of medical care from both domestic and international
providers. However, cholera is not a life threatening disease in developed countries given proper
sanitation and antibiotics. In other parts of Yemen, there is neither such high rate of infection.
Therefore, by comparing spatially, it demonstrates that health conditions are largely affected by the
geographic variation in access to needs (clean water, food, sewage) and medical services (hospitals
and medicines). By comparing the current status with the past, it is clear to tell that human
activities can greatly change the human characteristics of a place, while violent conflicts in this
particular case have drastically worsened the living conditions of the local Yemenis

Analysis Of The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh
A hero can be from the past, from the present, from life, and from literature. The word hero has
many connotations and synonyms as well. However, not everyone gets enough credit for their
heroic acts. Throughout unit 1 in springboard it discusses some of the heroic acts that certain
characters did. For instance, in the story of the soldier that lost a leg, or the story of one of our
presidents and how he became someone that people could look up to. In the story of The
drummer boy of Shiloh the hero is a fourteen year old. A hero needs to have certain
characteristics. For example, they need to be responsible and stay strong throughout their
journey. Think about how hard it would be to live life without one of your leg, that would bring
many conflicts in your life and only a hero could survive such a big change. That was the case
with Tristan Eugen Segers, a soldier whom lost his leg in Afghanistan. In Soldier home after
losing his leg AFGHANISTAN it states Segers wears shorts in the warm summer weather, not
even pretending to hide his prosthetic leg. He has run a marathon (Gale Fiege 59). He lost his
leg, yet he still manages to do activities without being embarrassed of his prosthetic leg. However
even without his leg he still wants to keep a normal life without anything getting in his way, also
now he has a child on its way. Therefore, he needs to stay strong to support his wife and son.

Kia Soul Advantages And Disadvantages
With all the advantages that comes with the Kia Soul, there are a few advantages that the
company should consider before making the purchase. The Kia Soul has a below average fuel
rating. It gets 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is not good fuel efficient for
a car of its size or when compared to the competition. The car only comes in front wheel drive
only, which can make it hard to drive during the winter in Chicago. Finally, when it comes to the
engine performance, it comes with 1.6 liter four cylinder that puts out 130 horsepower, which
can make it feel weak for some driving situations. Below is the 2017 Kia Soul with some of its
features. Hybrid Vehicles Many consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious about
the kind of vehicles they drive and how they impact the environment, as a result, hybrid cars are
becoming more popular. Hybrid vehicles conserves fuel and produces less carbon oxide
emissions, as a result, many cities in the United States are switching their public transportation
and other service vehicles to hybrid cars. In addition to being environmentally friendly, hybrid
vehicles have less dependence on fossil fuels, has a regenerative braking system, they are built
from light material, they have high resale value, and they are financial benefits of having a hybrid
vehicle. There are disadvantages to owning a fleet of hybrid vehicles. They have less power,

External Influences On The People Of Syria
Have you ever taken the time to look around you at your surroundings? Or taken a moment to
reflect on the experiences you have had that have had a big impact on your life? Have you ever

we are and the person we come to be. In Syria, war is a major external influence in their lives.
The people of Syria are impacted tremendously by the ongoing warfare of their country. It has
caused them to be strong, courageous, and to persevere despite everything. They have had bombs
dropped on them, they have had to flee their homes, they have lost their families, they have lost
everything. But still they continue to strive to keep their children alive and to try and make a
better life for them. One little girl, Dania Amroosh, has gone through a great deal of trauma and
experienced things that no 7 year old should have to experience. Five months ago, Dania and her
family were sitting in their home in Aleppo, Syria, about 60 miles south of here, when a bomb
dropped from the sky. Her grandmother, aunt, uncle and two cousins were killed instantly.
Another cousin lost his legs. Dania was mangled. Despite all this, Dania survived and she will live

The Scream Is One Of The Most Recognized Pieces Of Art
Edvard Munch s painting The Scream is one of the most recognized pieces of art throughout
history. He created this masterpiece in the year of 1893 and continued on to create three different
versions of the painting (Paulson). The image shows a deathly pale, skull shaped head man
clutching his hands over his ears, facing the audience, screaming with his mouth opened wide.
There are two silhouettes behind the screaming man on the left hand side of the bridge, while the
sky is bloody and the water in the fjord rushing. On Edvard Munch s official website, the biography
mentions that Munch grew up with is mother and older sister, his two role models, dying from
tuberculosis at a young age. Leaving him and his younger siblings with their emotionally detached
father, who would torment them about going to hell and burning, among other issues (Munch). The
emotional torment Munch went through in his early life, plagued him throughout his life and
career, which resulted him creating many different works of art with the sense of loneliness and
desperation. Munch s use of contrast and composition symbolizes the representation of man; the
inner turmoil one may face throughout life. Munch s use of a bold composition intends to show
the viewers the intended form and structure of the painting. There are three dynamic lines within
the painting: the line for railing, the line for the blood red horizon, and the line showing the flow
of the fjord. All these lines are to direct the viewers eye

Moho Model Of MOHO
Introduction The Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) is a breakdown of how a person engages
in their daily activities from their disability or illness. It gives an occupational therapist a guide to
understand and specify the client s inadequacy of engagement. The clients thinking, feeling, and
doing are central to therapy and the model takes into account both mind and body. In MOHO the
environmentcan demand and offer opportunities for occupational performance (Ramafikeng, 2009).
This model helps the therapist to find reasoning through their client`s behaviors and be able to
promote health and recovery in their daily occupations. By looking into the client`s volition,
habituation, and performance capacity this specifies the therapist of their client`s abilities and
incapability s they have while engaging in an occupation. Then analyzing what environmental
contexts ables or disables the client`s behavior.
Person Environment Occupation
Volition is how a person is influenced and how they make their own choices while engaging in an
occupation. This guides a person to know what occupations they want to participate in. In MOHO
volition is broken down into three parts: interests, personal causation, and values. In the case of
Sam his volition is to be a better student to make his parents proud despite, the occupation (formal
education) he is having difficulty with. He finds interest in playing video games, games on the

Sociology 101
The Protestant Ethic and Spirit of Capitalism Max Weber (1864 1920) considered seriously about
the emerging dilemmas from the socio cultural and political state of affairs in Germany and
criticised purely the historical materialistic concept of explanations. Within his book The Protestant
Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism , Weber instead depicts a more conceivable and pragmatic
explanation that the materialization of capitalism owed much to the specific patterns of religious
motivational explanations in Calvinism between various industrialists at that period. As these

Additionally, Weber explains that the progress in administrative sphere can be directed only
through a guided reckoning, impartiality and competence. In the intellectual sphere, progress was
thought to be achieved by the aid of scientific methods, testing skills, experiential data collection
because theories that are imitative through scientific reasoning supersede to those that are
previously attributed to magical causes. However, this particular enlightenment ideology of motive
and self realisation is distinguishable with that of Marx s view of progress and is still qualified by
Weber by the rationalisation itself.
Compared to Marx perspective, the rationalisation and progress according to Weber involve the
positive features of effectiveness, manageability, uniformity, unavoidability and impartiality. These
positive aspects of rationalisation can result in enhanced capacity, the development of capacity and
power relations and thereby assists in attaining progress in each sphere depicted above. Unlike
Marx, rationalisation in economic perspective as witnessed in Western Capitalism was been
considered by Weber as the process of reasoning out unreasonable sentiments that hamper accrual

Wind, Earthquake And Its Effect On The Earthquake Essay
Unlike wind, earthquake is a different phenomenon which generates a ground motion. The
intensity or acceleration of the earthquake depends upon the magnitude and location of its
epicenter. The seismic waves caused by the earthquake cause inertial forces in the building. The
inertial forces are created when an outside force tries to move a body in rest which happens in
this case as seismic waves tries the move the building in rest. We all know that when a building is
subjected to inertial forces it should obey the newton s second law of motion.
F=M.a (3)
Where F is inertial force and M denotes mass of building and a is the acceleration with which the
building is moved due to seismic activity.
Duration, velocity and displacement:
From the newton s second law, it is evident that acceleration is a key factor in determining the
forces on a building. But there is one more criteria that we have to look into is the duration of the
earthquake. Earthquake that has moderate acceleration, sustained over time, can cause much more
damage to buildings than a single much larger peak. It weakens the building structure and reduces
its durability. The strong motion duration is often termed as bracketed duration (Arnold 2013). This
is the shaking duration above a certain threshold acceleration value, which is 0.05g, and is defined
as the time between the first and last peaks of motion that exceeds this threshold value (Arnold
2013). The strong motion

Waste has been a common problem in most of the developed regions. Hong Kong is not an
exception; the problem has been deteriorating as the society develops and its population grows.
The country produces waste huge amount every day and it is estimated to be increasing by 3
percent in every year. According to the research conducted by Ambrose and Harris (2011), most of
the waste in this nation is handled by land filling. Young (2014) expressed a similar idea where
he claimed that in 2003 the land is approximated to have received average daily waste of 17757
tonnes. However, the existing landfills are anticipated to be filled within 8 10 years if the current
trend of waste generation continues. However, Hong Kong has a limited land resource, and it s
hard to find new land filling sites. This raises the need to improve the situation ensuring continuous
development. One of the most notable types of waste is the waste resulting from packaging
material. Packing is done basically to protect products from damaging thus ensuring the quality of
the product is preserved. Yucel and Ozkan (2015)by summarizing the work of many others claims
that over the years, consumerism has become more apparent influencing packaging to come up
with various complex designs with a motive of attracting consumers. Cela and Kaneko(2013)
claimed that most of the packaging waste result from domestic activities accounting for 43 percent,

1)Evaluate RBC s customer strategy.
Unlike most banks, RBC Royal Bank has well understood the need to leverage the economic value
of customer information for many years. Since the late 1970 s, the bank has searched for and found

This new segmentation system was used by back office functions (marketing, credit) and front
office (sales staff) in order to align the sales force around customer profitability and planted the
seeds for new customer centric. This attempt was a failure because customers were treated without
considerations of the potential business they could contribute.
However, the Bank realized that:
the system was not precise enough for relationship pricing
it did not provide a measure of potential value
it could not be used as a performance measure.
In 1998, the financial group decided to implement a more robust profitability measurement to his
CRM data system. This new system called Value Analyzer represent for the company a tool much
more efficient than its old customer system. This new software adds a new data in the RBC s
vision. We came to understand that customers can be both profitable and have the potential to be
profitable . (case study page 8)
This new notion of potential profitable customers made the bank to invest in some segment such as
Nexus in order to build a strong relationship with young customers. This new value will become
one of the mainstays of the CRM of the Royal bank.
Our new strategy was to look at our customers total holding and figure out how to deepen their
relationship with the bank if they had potential. Case study page 8

Introduction
For days, months, years, even decades, the conflict between Israel and Palestine has raged, leaving
thousands of dead in its wake. The Jewish people once lived in the land now known as either
Israel or Palestine. They were forced out in 70 A.D. in what is now known as the Jewish Diaspora
after attempting a revolt against the Romans that, in hindsight, was probably not a good idea. Who
replaced the Jews? Once the Jews were gone, the Palestinians took over the land and lived there

This proves that Israel is a valid place for a Jewish state because God has promised Israel to
Abraham and his descendants. Reason Wrap Up In short, one of the reasons Israel was created
as a Jewish state in 1948 is that in their scriptures say that they have been promised Israel by God.
International support There are two great reasons Zionism or International Support back up the
creation of Israel that I will explain to you, but I m sure there are plenty more. First evidence
The people kept faith with [Israel] throughout their Dispersion (Diaspora) and never ceased to
hope and pray for their return to it, as said in Document B. This shows that Israelis have always
wanted to return and have kept the dream alive and have historical ties to Israel. Second evidence
Also, quoted from Document B is the evidence, The United Nations General Assembly passed a
resolution calling for the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz Israel. Eretz Israel, by the way,
is just Israel by a different name. Moving on, this proves that Israel should have been created as a

The One Ring In Tolkein s The Lord Of The Rings
The One Ring is perceived as the machine that has the ability to tempt any individual into using it
due to its great powers: `It is by our own folly that the Enemy will defeat us, cried Boromir. `How
it angers me! Fool! Obstinate fool! Running wilfully to death and ruining our cause. If any mortals
have claim to the Ring, it is the men of NГєmenor, and not Halflings. It is not yours save by
unhappy chance. It might have been mine. It should be mine. Give it to me! (Tolkein). Tolkein
conveys the concept and illustrates the power of fellowship throughout Frodo s journey to Mordor.
Although the Ring entices Frodo when he and his companions encounter the Black Riders, Frodo
withstands the temptation to use the Ring. Tolkein demonstrates how fellowship is... Show more

After they encountered one of the Black Riders, Frodo admits that they are looking for him and
it is not safe for him to stay in the Shire, which causes the hobbits to volunteer to follow Frodo
wherever he plans to go: You can trust us to stick to you through thick and thin to the bitter end.
And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot
trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word (Tolkein 103). As they
progressed, the journey became more dangerous and ironically, Merry, Pippin, and Sam grew
greater desire to accompany Frodo. At Elrond s Council, this gives Gandalf the impression that
the hobbits should be members of the Company: I think, Elrond, that in this matter it would be
well to trust rather to their friendship than to great wisdom. Even if you chose for us an elf lord,
such as Glorfindel, he could not storm the Dark Tower, nor open the road to the Fire by the power
that is in him (Tolkein). Gandalf believes that fellowship would be greater protection to Frodo

The Function Of Student Nurse
Monday, October 19th: Today I was at Moses Cone renal floor in the role of student nurse. I had
two patients. One patient was a patient I have had before who went to hemodialysis. My other
patient I had not had before, and she was admitted because her salivary glands were swollen and
infected. My past patient went to hemodialysis at 7:45 right after I got report and introduced
myself to her as my student nurse. I was able to go see her in hemodialysis. The nurse who was
working with her explained to me who hemodialysis works. He had a little bit of a cultural

She was on a dysphagia 1 diet and was receiving her pills crushed in applesauce. She wasn t
tolerating it well because it was so bitter. Since I observed her eating her breakfast without any
problems, and since the order to crush her pills was a nursing order, we tried her on swallowing
pills with water. She did really well with this, so I spoke with her nurse about changing her order.
This nursing intervention we implemented deals specifically with learning outcome #2 which
talks about analyzing nursing interventions as they relate to health promotion in the older adult.
The intervention we implemented promoted our patient s comfort and also led to decreased
gagging and greater adherence to taking medications. Another less critical intervention I
implemented were daily cares such as bathing, ambulating, and changing her gown. These were
also interventions for comfort and that contributed to the patient feeling better about herself
which will lead to healing. My personal goals for this week at Moses Cone were: I will help
another student with one of their tasks by the end of the day. I will make a discharge plan or
discuss with my nurse what discharge planning looks like before leaving. I will introduce myself
to my patients with my nurse. My patient goals are: My patients will be able to explain what they
need to do upon discharge to maintain health. My patients will state a non medicinal therapy that
can be used in their treatment before the end of the day. My

The Role Of Celebrities And Youth Exist
The idea of having a role model is something society loves to champion. Kids should have role
models, and adults should strive to be worthy of such a duty. Kids that don t grow up with
strong role models and mentors are almost expected to fail; without footsteps to follow exactly,
kids are incapable of, or at least unlikely to, achieve anything worth of substance. In the same
breath, people advocating the importance of role models condemn the expansion of celebrity in
today s society, claiming that they influence youth poorly and don t set a good example for
younger generations. But celebrities are the very people that young children are most likely to
use as role models. So, how and why does this relationship between celebrities and youth exist?
The reality of the world we live in is that kids love celebrities. The rich and famous are of a
similar status of an older sibling s friends: just out of reach, and untouchably cool. The mystique of
celebrities is part of the allure, but with the media ever expanding, kids are lured even further in by
the more intimate details available thanks to social media. Kids don t just love celebrities,
celebrities love kids. That is, when the kids are making the celebrities money. Whether donning
their clothing line, buying their concert tickets, or adding their shoes to Christmas lists, kids are a
revenue stream for celebrities. The famed have no problem with children when they are
commodities, yet this situation is complicated when

Operation Desert Storm By James Davidson Hunter
In the beginning of the article we are given a visual of a country in economic ruin as Ronald
Reagan begins his presidency. James Davidson Hunter wrote the article to give readers a greater
insight, from a seemingly unbiased and constructive viewpoint. Throughout history each American
era has been consumed by different ideals and viewpoints. These viewpoints can either bring a
nation together or destroy them. Different groups have affected different decisions. A president s
job is to remain objective and to listen to the citizens as well as make some hard decisions that
are in their best interests. Many groups have been and will continue to be affected, It is this face
the face of a pervasive anxiety about the future that seeks some modicum of control in the culture

When the president or government makes a decision that benefits or positively affects one group,
that group will support them. The other groups will complain and protest. This has happened a lot
with many different groups. James Davidson Hunter discusses how even though Ronald Reagan
was able to restore a the people crumbling pride in America by uniting them all using one common
enemy. George Bush s tactics were similar when he united the people because of Saddam Hussein,
Once again, the American public responded, greeting Operation Desert Storm with a frenzy of

American public can be quite harsh and unforgiving. Rightfully so because when things backfire it

The Mediterranean Diet And Allergies
The Mediterranean Diet and Allergies Springtime often leaves many people sniffling and
sneezing, and while antihistamine pills are effective, it can leave you feeling exhausted and
foggy. While the use of medication works well, it should never be solely relied upon.
Sometimes there are other solutions to try first before you head to the medicine cabinet. You
ever hear the term you are what you eat ? Well, that statement couldn t be more true, what you
put into your body will affect your performance and how you feel. Think of your body as a high
performance sports vehicle; you wouldn t put low grade fuel or oil into your car. If you did, it
wouldn t run very well and that will lead to expensive repairs later on down the road. Where is
the logic in this? The same idea applies to your body, so start treating yourself like a high
performance vehicle. May is National Mediterranean Diet Month, so use this time to incorporate
this ancient way of eating into your daily diet. The Mediterranean diet is not a new fad, it has
quite a bit of history behind it, and the best part is it s not an overly restrictive, fad diet. In fact,
many people find this diet to be easy to follow and incorporate. One of the greatest aspects of this
way of eating, is that following the Mediterranean diet may help or eliminate your need for
antihistamine medication due to the compounds that are found naturally within the food that makes
up this diet. This includes: Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Fish

Analysis Of A Wish After Midnight
In the speculative historical text, A Wish After Midnight by Zetta Elliott, Elliott s novel allows
readers to go from the past to the present. The conflict presented in this book is that the main
character Genna, is unhappy with her current living situation and her life growing up in Brooklyn.
She wishes that she could have a new life away from the environment she is currently in, and all
the negativity that she is surrounded by. As she makes a wishby the wish fountain just like every
other day, the only thing different this time is that this wish unexpectedly came true, and turns out
to be more than she could handle. This book travels back during the Civil War era.
Elliott choice of diction in my opinion was very good. This author not only captured my
attention from the very first page, but she also uses terms and vocabulary that fits every scene
that occurs next. As this book is told in first person: through Genna s point of view, I was able to
get to know Genna as a person. I could connect and relate to some of her thoughts and feelings
throughout the novel. It made me feel like Genna was my friend and that she was sharing her story
with me. Some of the figurative language that I noticed while reading are the following: simile,
imagery, personification, metaphor, hyperbole, alliteration, double entendre, and onomatopoeia. An
example of one of the figurative language is hyperbole: She explains I m used to Rico and his boys

of fuel. Eventually the plane begins to go down, and he barely makes it to the lake which, in
time, will become his camp. Suffering only minor injuries from the crash , Brian makes it to
shore. The first few days he was relying heavily on the hope that he would be rescued within a
few days. As time went on, his hopes of being found anytime soon slowly diminished. At first, he
struggled to find food and make a shelter. Things came slow for him, but he was always learning
something new. As time goes on, his mindset changes, and he learns how to hunt fish, find good
firewood, and make fires. He creates a spear for jabbing fish, a bow to hunt with, and a wall of
sticks and logs intertwined for walls of a shelter. With his camp looking well, he goes into a daily

ANALYSIS OF A RECENT SERVICE EXPERIENCE
A recent service experience Recently, I had a very awful experience with Uber service which
makes me realize the difficulty of perfect service. I tried to call an Uber car, two month ago, to the
Miami international airport. It took about 30 minutes before the driver finally showed up and she
claimed that my apartment was very hard to locate. Meanwhile, I was aware that she barely
speaks English. She told me she just came from Cuba one month ago and only speaks Spanish
but I merely speak. According to recent study found that there are 66.37% of Miami Dade s
residents speak Spanish, while those who only speak English make up 28.07% (MLA, 2010).
Then, she set up navigation bring me to the destination. However, she missed the first exit of

Political Allegory In Alice In Wonderland
One historical approach to Carroll s Alice in Wonderland invites the reader to observe the trends,
culture as well as the philosophy of the Victorian Era for a personalized interpretation of Alice s
encounters in Wonderland. Usage of the Historical approach may seem demoralizing in sheer
scope; it is quite imperative to understand that the novel was written during a specific time period
that, in itself, contained unique habits and concerns. Within the following pages, the connections
with the Victorian erain terms of the middle class upbringing of children, notions of order,
reasoning, logic and politesse will be further understood. Political allegory, a powerful theme that
reflects brilliantly in the real life to England; the Wonderland, the symbolic England, The novel can
be first identified as the direct opposite with characters that jigsaw into the real life. Wonderland
was ruled unjustly by the Queen of Hearts, who, correspondingly was Queen Victoria. There were
pieces of evidence that Carroll was not overly timid by the Queen. The aristocracy of violence that
was assigned to Wonderland (the Queen and the Duchess) as well as the ludicrous mangling of
justice in the trial ( Sentence first, then verdict ; the British system indeed at that time in
shambles.) are often used as the evidence that Alice belonged to perhaps the genre of political
satire more than Carroll had realized. Another political approach is to treat Alice as an allegory for
colonization. During the

John Bowlby s Theories of Attachment Theory
John Bowlby had worked with residential school children as a volunteer early on in his career and
had determined that the children who suffered the most from anger outbursts, aggressivity, and
whom her termed affectionless were also the children who had suffered the most maternal
deprivation (). Bowlby advanced that the loss of the mother figure was extremely distressing and
damaging and could influence adults behavior years later. Hence, where psychoanalysishad been
concerned solely with the imaginings of the childish mind, the fantasied pleasures and the
dreaded retributions (Fonagy), Bowlby showed that humans do not develop in a void or as
individual monads but as members of interacting systems. Bowlby developed his theory on
attachment for several decades, and at a time where any dealings with childhood trauma were still
rigorously influenced by Freudian psychoanalysis through the likes of psychoanalysts such Anna
Freud or Melanie Klein. Even Winnicott was revulsed upon reading Bowlby s papers (siegel). It
certainly was a bitter pill to swallow for psychoanalysts who had been repeating since Freud that
the newborn was a little tyrant fighting for oral gratification at the mother s breast and merely
clinging on to fulfil sexual instinctual needs. Bowlby s work was thus eschewed for a considerable
time, despite his involvement with the World Health Organisation and the considerable empirical
weight that was added to his findings by Mary Ainsworths studies in

The Country Of Moldova And The European Union
Until recently, the country of Moldova did not even exist to my knowledge. I had never heard its
name, did not know where it was located, and I obviously had no idea about the extremely
complex and serious ongoing issue with their government system. Moldova is one of the poorest
countries in all of Europe and has been tossed around between Russian and Romanian control since
the 16th century. It only officially declared its sovereignty from its last owner, Russia, in 1990, its
independence in 1991, and became a part of the United Nations in 1992. Even though it finally
gained its independence, Moldovajust cannot win for losing. It seems no matter what political

This gave many people in Moldova the impression that if the country sides with the EU, they
will be lead into corruption which boosted the amount of Pro Russian supporters. Romania is
also noticing this corruption occurring in the Moldovan government and is questioning
Moldova s ability to be a part of the EU. I chose to research this issue because the current
corruption of the Moldovan government and its impact on its people, is going to play a major
role in the future of Moldova as a country. How these events are influencing the opinions of the
people will ultimately determine the structure of Moldova s government, and this is a big deal
for this struggling country. I personally do not have an opinion yet about this issue as I am not
adequately informed about the pros and cons of the two political parties in conflict, but I hope to
be able to better understand the two sides of this issue and possibly develop my own opinion on
the issue of Moldova s future government. Moldova s people are faced between the choices of
Socialist Russia, who is impressing on them with economical threats, or continuing down the path
towards the EU, which as their government appears to be bathed with corrupted politics and
politicians, is proving to be more of an obstacle than once imagined. Of which is the lesser of two
evils for this poor, literally and figuratively, European country?

Spain signed a peace treaty with the U.S. relinquishing its hold on Cuba, but no Cuban delegates

the U.S. would not permanently remain in Cuba. Cubans lobbied for an early execution of the Joint

The Growing Trend of Sex and Violence in Media Today...
Modern day society is composed of rules and structures. The general public has become much
more sensitive over the years, resulting in a very politically correct atmosphere. Moreover,
parents have decided that the opportune way of reaching their ambitions is through the lives of
their children. Under this strict lifestyle, one would presume that our values are very
conservative. Surprisingly, the opposite is true. Due to the sexual and violent permissiveness in
today s Multi Media, our society has developed a sordid standard of morals. Sex is often considered
to be taboo among families. Parents do not want to believe that their children are aware of it, and
vice versa. While the family is living in a state of denial, the media is... Show more content on

Media boardrooms have become corporate playgrounds which consistently intensify the raciness
of its images and videos to maintain the shock value of sex. Consequently, all forms of sex have
become increasingly acceptable. It is no longer considered taboo to perform sexual acts soon
after meeting an individual. Sex was once restricted to married couples, but even pre teenage
children have lost their innocence. Due to its unspoken nature within families, parents are often
unaware of their child s/children s sexual activity. Only exposed to the attractive side of sex
conveyed by the media, children do not receive appropriate education, resulting in teenage
pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. The saturation of sexual messages by the media
would lead an outsider to believe that we are very permissive of sexual behaviour, yet the very
opposite is taught at the family level. Violence in society has suffered a similar fate. We are
taught from a very young age that violence is wrong. We are all aware that instead of hitting
people, we should resolve our problems through conversation, violence is never the answer. If this
is common knowledge, why does our society have so much violence? Unfortunately, this can also
be blamed on the media. Parents teach their children that violence is inappropriate, but the media
implies that it is acceptable. Some of today s most popular

Teenagers Have Respect
A lot of teenagers these days don t respect each other because they are jealous of each other. I
think that I am lucky and have no reason to be jealous so I try to respect everyone the way they
are. Although the people I would like to talk about is how much respect I have for my mom and
dad. I think that having respectfor your parents is one of the most important things especially as a
teenager. If you don t have respect for your parents then why should they have respect for you
when you grow up. My mom owns ten hair salons and deals with many different problems every
day and I don t really know how she does it. So I have uttermost respect for her everyday.
Sometimes my mom talks to me about stuff I don t exactly agree with her, but I still want to
show respect while making my argument. I do that by kindly telling her my opinion without
getting mad. Then I wait to see what she says, back and normally her opinion makes more sense,
so I just listen to what she has to say. I never get mad or yell at her, but I repeat her opinion just
as much as I respect mine. Not only do I show respect to my mom but she shows respect to me
and to the things that I love to do. A lot of people don t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Online Education And Its Impact On College Students
Throughout the past decade, technology has advanced swiftly and significantly. The effects of such
advancements can be seen from the way that people keep in touch through social media, to the way
that people check out their groceries through self checkout lanes. It is only natural that the spread of
technology would eventually reach the educational level. To keep up with the changing times,
online schooling institutions have entered the educational arena. These institutions have produced
many bright students and college graduates; however, there is an abundance of critics who do not
see the validity of such schools. Contrary to the critics thoughts, online school is a valuable,
legitimate option that prepares students for success while remaining flexible. As online education
rises in popularity, the amount of educated individuals will also grow.
Online education fits in with college students ever changing lives. College students are amongst
some of the busiest people; therefore, it can be a challenge to create a school schedule that fits in
with other responsibilities. A flexible schedule is essential for these students academic success.
Online education provides the flexible schedule that is necessary for students to learn at a time that

Reflection About Family
For this project I spoke with three people who I think have really defined my life thus far. These
people are my dad, my dad s mom Maw Maw, and my mom s mom Nonnie. In interviewing Dad,
I realize that I got my determination and drive to succeed from him. He works his regular job,
but also works multiple side jobs every week. He shared with me that him and Mom had
struggled a great deal, and had my grandparents not helped out he wasn t sure that they would
have made it. He has always been so adamant about me getting a good education so that this
would never be the case for me. From talking with Maw Maw, I learned more about our family
history. I found out that our family resided in Union County, NC when it was founded. Her and my

I live in the more rural side which is dominated by conservative, Christian views. My family
brought me up in this way, but they always made sure I understood what I was being taught and
that I believed it on my own. I was always surrounded by people who believed that same as I do,
so moving to college was a bit of a culture shock, but it has been helpful to see new perspectives
and converse with many different people. My upbringing has also affected the holidays we
celebrate. Christmas and Easter have always been really big holidays for us because of our
religious beliefs. These are definitely my favorite holidays because of the meanings behind them
and the time we all get to spend together. More big celebrations in our family include birthdays.
Maw Maw leaves birthday decorations up in her basement year round because we celebrate at

coming together as a family because this is so important to us. While my family has shaped by life
the most, there have also been major events in my life that have shaped it as well. When I asked
my dad what event he thought had impacted our family the most he said, Mom s wreck, and I

Visual Elements In The Film Casablanca
The film, Casablanca, focuses on Rick, who faces lost love, honor and duty, self sacrifice, and
romance, all within a world currently filled with chaos. The bar scene, where Rick drinks alone
after his club closes, represents the sadness he feels after encountering an old acquaintance Ilsa
Lund, his former lover. During the scene, Sam plays As Time Goes by again, the searchlight
circles around the club, and Rick thinks about the past, just before Ilsa comes to see and talk to
him. The mise en scГЁne of the bar scene following Laszlo and Ilsa leaving Rick s nightclub
illustrates the shift of Rick s former character to the man the audience currently sees.
Casablanca contains brilliant visual elements. It is a romantic drama that takes place during
World War II, in a city controlled by France called Casablanca. The city is filled with refugees
who are trying to escape to the United States, dealers selling letters of transit, and French and
German officials. In the beginning of the bar scene, Rick says, Of all the gin joints in all the towns
in all the world, she walks into mine. This incorporates the idea of coincidence in the film. In an
essay written by Bordwell and Thompson, The later in the film a coincidence occurs, the weaker
it is; and it is very unlikely that the story will be resolved by coincidence (13). It explains how ...

More leverage (a higher ratio) usually means magnified expected earnings for the investor.
Profitability Ratio Profitability (performance) ratios are used to assess a company s ability to
create equity as compared to its debt and other appropriate expenses created during a particular
time frame. A favorable analysis of profitability ratios will reveal that a company s value is higher
than a competitor s value. A review of Ford s 2010 Income Statement revealed the following
information about the company s profitability:
Basic earnings per share = Net income after taxes/Number of common stock shares outstanding
Basic earnings per share = $6.56B/$3.45B = $1.90 per share Return on sales = Net income/Net
sales Return on sales = $6.56B/$128.95B = 5% Return on equity = Net income after tax/Total
owner s equity Return on equity = $6.56B/$5,982,000 = 109% Ford earned $1.90 per share
ending 2010. The company showed a 5% return on sales. A comparison of General Motors
Company will show Ford s performance when comparing this percentage. High risks in business
either equates to high profits or high losses. Ford s company s return on equity of 109% shows
that their risks proved to be profitable in the automobile industry in 2010 ( , 2012).

Animal Therapy Vs. Traditional Nursing Practice
Animal assisted therapy is the use of animals, most popularly canines for their friendly, loving, and
nonjudgmental approach in patient treatment. Animal therapy may be considered unorthodox
within standard nursing practice and thus the studies produced have been limited and more inquiry
is needed. This paper will discuss the benefits animal therapy can produce for cancerpatients
psychologically and physiologically as well as increasing job satisfaction for nurses. Its expected
outcome is to exemplify animal assisted therapy s potential as a complementary treatment to
traditional nursing practice that can be normalized in the future. From the evaluation of three
studies and one literature review the significance associated with animal assisted therapy results
will be examined. As well as analyzing these various studies, discussing their limitations and
presenting their comparisons. The animals included trained canines of different breed and size and
the sample population was cancer patients specifically those undergoing radiation or chemotherapy.
Interventions included presenting the various breeds of dogs to patients before (in the waiting
room) and during (while receiving chemotherapy) treatment. Trainers were present at all times and
patients were able to interact, pet, hold, play and walk with the dogs. Its usefulness is minutely
recognized in nursing and can be of importance to the nursing practice as a cathartic alternative
therapy and intervention that has potential

Real Estate Investing Benefits
Real estate investing is something that can be incredibly beneficial to those who can afford to
invest. Real estate investing requires skill and effort to become as successful as physically
possible. Some will make a lot of money, while others will fail to break even on their homes. Even
though this is a risky business venture to get into, it does have a large amount of benefits and
rewards. Knowing the multiple benefits may help you to lean toward starting real estateinvesting.
Profit
The obvious benefit that comes from real estate investing comes from the money that can be made.
Those who have managed to buy a home for a small amount, and sell it for a large amount see the
largest profit. People will fix houses, and add to houses simply to get as much profit as possible

work, but can be great for those who actually like the work that is involved. While some do it for
the money, others do it for more reasons, such as this.
While it is a great investment to start investing in real estate, it can also be a risky and dangerous
one. The only way to make sure that you can reap all of the benefits listed above is to make sure
that you consult a professional. Talking to someone who has gone through real estate investing,

An Analysis of the Use of Nanotechnology in Electrical...
The energy demand all over the world is expected to be 28 terawatts by 2050, which can lead to
increase of energy consumption patterns and greenhouse gas production. (P.Alivisatos et al. 2005)
One of the most significant issues the industrialised world is facing today is the energy challenge,
issues associated with energy production, storage and reducing consumption of energy use. The
use of energy has reason to rise over time due to an increase in the world population and the
discovery of new technologies which require electrical energy. The electrical energy is used
everywhere, from heating homes to manufacturing. The energy resources are divided into two

The aim of this paper is to analyse the use of nanotechnology in alternative energy production,
storage and as a means of reducing energy consumption. Roger A.Hinriches and Merlin
Kleinbach (2006) declared (claimed) that every day the earth surface receives thousands of
times more energy from the Sun than it consumed in all other resources . Cleanliness,
availability and renewability of solar energy make it virtually ideal. (Grant E.Gardner, 2008).
The use of solar energy for production of electricity is based on the photoelectric effect. The
photoelectric effect is a process, when light strikes certain metals and, as a result, electrons are
emitted from the metal surface. (Hugh D.Young, Roger A.Freedman 2008). Photovoltaic cells
(PV), known as solar cells, are devices which collect radiation energy in the form of sunlight and
convert into electricity. Solar cells are made of semiconducting materials, especially silicon.
Silicon absorbs photons of light which strike the cells. The energy of the absorbed light transfers
to the silicon semiconductor, after that this energy pushes electrons out. This is why the can flow
freely which leads to the emergence of electric current. The electrical energy from solar cells can
then be used directly. However, considerable amount of solar energy on PV cells

Espionage In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel...
Espionage has always been a crucial part of any war s success. It is vital to know what the
enemy is planning to do and when they plan to execute their plans. This vital need has always
caused the need for spies to conduct the espionage on enemies. However, the information that the
spies collected was only as valuable as the amount of trust placed on a spy. A spy can gather
information on enemies plans and report back to their boss, but if the boss does not trust the spy it
could cause vital information to go unnoticed or not receive the proper urgency. These doubts
about notes and letters are not limited to spymasters alone, many everyday citizens rely on the
letters and notes of others. In his novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez
uses letters and notes written between characters as a metaphor to represent the doubts the
characters have about the information they are receiving. In order to better understand MГЎrquez s
metaphor the letters Angela receives from her mother about San Roman, the letters returned to
Nasar by his fiancГ©e, and the letters written to San Roman from Angela can all be further
examined. In the first letter sent to Angela at school, MГЎrquez illustrates a mysterious new man
who has arrived in town The strange man is called Bayardo San Roman, and everybody says he s
enchanting, but I haven t seen him. (Page 15). The strange man is called Bayardo San Roman, and

Lester B. Pearson and the Suez Canal Crisis
The Suez crisis was a conflict that could have easily turned into a third World War. With a battle
between the Israelis and Egyptians at Sinai, the British and French invasion of Egypt, and nuclear
threats from the Soviet Union, all of the elements were present to escalate the conflict and pull
other countries into the fray. Canada had no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or
economic interest. However, Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. Pearson,
persuaded the UN General Assembly to send in the United Nations Emergency Force. Even though

The Israeli advance towards the canal is a fake to show the world that Egypt in danger of being
overthrown by the Israelis. The British and French then dissimulate as peacekeepers, trying to
diffuse then tension between Egypt and Israel. They offer Nasser an ultimatum: Israel and Egypt are
to cease fighting or the two Western powers will intervene . On the 31st of October this ultimatum
expires and France and Britain attack, bombing Alexandria and sending in thousands of troops.
Russia then threatens Britain and France with Nuclear weapons. At this point it looks as though the
world is on the brink of another World War.
Canada had no interest to the Suez crisis, in terms of control, economic or military interest, but
Lester B. Pearson saw an opportunity to intervene. While the Cabinet in Ottawa debated about the

Persuasive Essay On Virtual Reality
Virtual reality is such a cool concept in technology. It s something that a lot of people are at the
very least intrigued by. Maybe not something that they think about or look up on a daily basis,
but something that they may keep an eye on. I mean Google has sold over 5 million Google
cardboards and has shipped over 10 million of them. For those that don t know what Google
cardboard is, it s a virtual realityplatform that Google made ( a cardboard headset) that you put on
your head that you use in conjunction with your smart phone that can give you a virtual reality
like experience. What you do is download some compatible apps, put your smart into the Google
cardboard. Put it on your head and have some fun. I m very interested in virtual reality and what
the future holds for it. Especially being a person who loves to play video games. I haven t gotten
a chance to get my hands on a Playstation VR yet, but at some point I would love to try it out.
Playstation VR for those that don t know is Sony s virtual reality device that you use with a
Playstion 4. Playstaion has over 100 compatible games with the Playstaion VR and that just
amazes me because it just released back in October of 2016.
Also there was an anime (a Japanese cartoon) that came out a few years back called sword art
online that peaked my interest in virtual reality. Sword art online is set in the near future and
focuses on various virtual reality MMORPG s (Massively Multiplayer Online Role playing games).

  • 2. Hektor s Heroic Code Hektors glory is being compared to his fate in the simile from(22.365 367). He fights like a soaring eagle: he is graceful, strong and swift. He fights for his home his people and his family proving this by standing up to Achilles even though he knows he will die. The heroic code is more important to Hektor then his own life. Twice prior to his fight with AchillesHektor had backed away from a fight against great Ajax. By backing away from these fights he is able to achieve kleos. Although this does make him less heroic it proves that the Gods have the decision of life and death for each character. • 4. The Utah And Minnesota Incident Reporting Preventable health care errors contribute to at least 44,000 deaths per year, increasing the cost of health care and limiting public trust. The Adverse Health Event Law passed in 2003 requires disclosure and examination of specific unfavorable events with corrective action plans with some aspects shared publically in order to educate consumers about healthcare facilities issues and improvements (MDH 2015). Review of the Utah and Minnesota Incident reporting mandates provided various state statutes and reporting responsibilities to the state s government and regulatory agencies. Reports of adverse events must be reported in various methods among states. For example, Utah and Minnesota require each individual facility, hospital, outpatient centers, and clinics, to report the adverse events that occur at the particular facility. Specifically, in Minnesota if the Boards that regulate physicians, nurses, podiatrist, physician assistants, and/or pharmacists are aware of an adverse event, the specific board holds the responsibility to report the events to the Minnesota Department of Health. Adverse events consist of defined elements within states in the categories of surgical, product or device, patient protection, case management, environmental, and potential criminal events, essentially providing events that produce irreversible patient harm. • 6. Role Of Frugality In Colonial America Writing Assignment Option 1C Students have often debated whether a morality based or profit based approach proved more influential in shaping colonial American economies. Colonial Americans are influenced by both moral and profit in their economies, when taking into consideration industry, care, frugality, or knowledge. A morality based approach takes into consideration ethics and values, while a profit based approach focuses on making as much money as possible. Although there were ways colonial American economies were influenced by profit, colonial American economies were more influenced by morals due to the features and values of their economic system. This can be seen in luxurious lifestyles such as William Byrd s, in which he constantly reads, such as Homer, Hebrew and Dutch. Franklin also expresses the idea of knowledge in a sense of morality by explaining that it is important to be able to be advised, for without that one cannot be helped, and therefore cannot learn. It was important to be able to learn in order to know what things lead to wealth. For example, agriculture was a vital aspect of the colonial economy. It was important to note that Staple Crops, such as tobacco, wheat, and corn, were the crops that helped provide a foundation in which the colonies were able to grow rapidly. This is because most Puritans were farmers, and in order for them to keep up with the economy and obtain more wealth, they had to take a morality based approach on knowledge and ... • 7. Anna Karenina Essay In Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy presents marriage in a realistic sense, marriage is not an easy institution; couples must work through the rough patches in order for it to be strong; he also presents passion as a force that can have a positive influence, but simultaneously presents passion as a factor that can have a corrupting power on a person s life. These two couples, Levin and Kitty and Vronsky and Anna, are compared throughout the course of the novel. Levin and Kitty differ from Anna and Vronsky because they do not communicate in the same ways. Kitty and Levin try to resolve issues as they arise, so that they do not create a bigger issue. Another difference is that Ann and Vronsky are sheltered from society because of Anna s position... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are completely open with each other, no matter how difficult the subject is to talk about. Anna and Vronsky are completely different with respect to their communication. They are described as having a dark and powerful spiritual bond (Merezhlevosky, pg.772). Because their relationship is based solely on love, it is harder for them to communicate effectively. Rather than take the time to solve a problem, Anna and Vronsky blame each other for the problems. Anna is described as getting more and more heated and thereby betraying the cause of her irritation (pg.326). Anna simply gets angry and as a result cannot have a conversation with Vronsky. This is quite different from the Anna we are introduced to early on in the novel. She is portrayed as a sweet, charming woman. This kind of attitude is not at all what is expected of Anna. Vronsky is does not handle situations well either. At one point in an argument, Vronsky leaves. He is described as having announced his departure (pg.584). Unlike Kitty and Levin, Anna and Vronsky try to avoid each other when an issue comes up. Because of Anna s position as a fallen woman, she and Vronsky lead rather different social lives than do Kitty and Levin. As Anna and Vronsky s relationship develops and becomes public, their interactions with society become dulled. • 8. Implementation And Feedback Systems ( Maclay, 2015 ) Development in practice: why projects fail and how to address these failures During the last decades, the way Development is managed and how it addresses problems have evolved. As conventional approaches failed to meet objectives, successive actions have tried to make development practice more efficient and participatory. Nonetheless, difficulties persist, with an increasing trade off between achieving equity through participation and the efficiency of managerialism. Linear, pre designed implementation models like the blueprint are still the main approaches to put theory into practice (Maclay, 2015). In this context and in line with the material studied in the course, I will argue that development projects face three types of problems: operational, cognitive and power. To enhance project effectiveness, these call for different complementary solutions: more flexibility in implementation and feedback systems (Maclay, 2015); a balance between participation and top down authority with increased accountability (Brett, 2003); and the empowerment of the local considering the political context (Andrews et al., 2013; Mohan and Stokke, 2000). To be sure, these strategies are no panacea. Nonetheless, they can help overcome some glaring failures in the current approaches, while any new problem should be analysed in an iterative problem solving process through learning systems that could help design better measures in the future. Additionally, for these measures to succeed, there is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indian attacks killed over 700 colonists and destroyed crops and supplies in what was called the Jamestown Massacre ( The Colonies: Jamestown ). Hunger remains a major hardship. Gross mismanagement has failed to improve living conditions (Kelly). 1609 was labeled the starving time. Only native plants and a few fish sustained the settlers. Desperate colonists cannibalized buried Indians and even family members (Captain John Smith qtd. in Miller, 85). Tobacco became the colony s sole cash crop and main source of revenue by 1612 with exports to England increasing from 2,300 pounds in 1616 to over 49,000 pounds by 1618. Importation of slaves to work in the fields began in 1619 ( The Colonies: Jamestown ). • 10. Worst Humanitarian Crisis Last week, I read an article in the New York Times, called It s a Slow Death : The World s Worst Humanitarian Crisis. It talked about the recent cholera outbreak in Yemen, which killed almost 2,000 people in three weeks and infected over 500,000. The authors have presented three critical graphs in this article. The first one is a thematic map of cholera case density in Yemen. The map shows that western Yemen is the most heavily affected, several parts of which have reached an infection rate of 300 per 10,000 people. In the second graph, a comparison is made among the cholera outbreaks in different countries in the past 50 years, while Yemen mounted towards other largest outbreaks such as those in Peru (1991) and Haiti (2011). While Yemen has long been the poorest country in the Arab world, the ongoing civil war has ruined most of its basic infrastructure, including transportation system, hospitals, and sewage. Poor hygiene provides a hotbed for the cholera virus, which breeds inside the already malnourished people and is later aggravated by the shortage of medical care from both domestic and international providers. However, cholera is not a life threatening disease in developed countries given proper sanitation and antibiotics. In other parts of Yemen, there is neither such high rate of infection. Therefore, by comparing spatially, it demonstrates that health conditions are largely affected by the geographic variation in access to needs (clean water, food, sewage) and medical services (hospitals and medicines). By comparing the current status with the past, it is clear to tell that human activities can greatly change the human characteristics of a place, while violent conflicts in this particular case have drastically worsened the living conditions of the local Yemenis ... For instance, in the story of the soldier that lost a leg, or the story of one of our presidents and how he became someone that people could look up to. In the story of The drummer boy of Shiloh the hero is a fourteen year old. A hero needs to have certain characteristics. For example, they need to be responsible and stay strong throughout their journey. Think about how hard it would be to live life without one of your leg, that would bring many conflicts in your life and only a hero could survive such a big change. That was the case with Tristan Eugen Segers, a soldier whom lost his leg in Afghanistan. In Soldier home after losing his leg AFGHANISTAN it states Segers wears shorts in the warm summer weather, not even pretending to hide his prosthetic leg. He has run a marathon (Gale Fiege 59). It gives an occupational therapist a guide to understand and specify the client s inadequacy of engagement. The clients thinking, feeling, and doing are central to therapy and the model takes into account both mind and body. In MOHO the environmentcan demand and offer opportunities for occupational performance (Ramafikeng, 2009). This model helps the therapist to find reasoning through their client`s behaviors and be able to promote health and recovery in their daily occupations. By looking into the client`s volition, habituation, and performance capacity this specifies the therapist of their client`s abilities and incapability s they have while engaging in an occupation. • 20. Wind, Earthquake And Its Effect On The Earthquake Essay Unlike wind, earthquake is a different phenomenon which generates a ground motion. The intensity or acceleration of the earthquake depends upon the magnitude and location of its epicenter. The seismic waves caused by the earthquake cause inertial forces in the building. The inertial forces are created when an outside force tries to move a body in rest which happens in this case as seismic waves tries the move the building in rest. We all know that when a building is subjected to inertial forces it should obey the newton s second law of motion. F=M.a (3) Where F is inertial force and M denotes mass of building and a is the acceleration with which the building is moved due to seismic activity. Duration, velocity and displacement: From the newton s second law, it is evident that acceleration is a key factor in determining the forces on a building. But there is one more criteria that we have to look into is the duration of the earthquake. Earthquake that has moderate acceleration, sustained over time, can cause much more damage to buildings than a single much larger peak. It weakens the building structure and reduces its durability. The strong motion duration is often termed as bracketed duration (Arnold 2013). This is the shaking duration above a certain threshold acceleration value, which is 0.05g, and is defined as the time between the first and last peaks of motion that exceeds this threshold value (Arnold 2013). Hong Kong is not an exception; the problem has been deteriorating as the society develops and its population grows. The country produces waste huge amount every day and it is estimated to be increasing by 3 percent in every year. According to the research conducted by Ambrose and Harris (2011), most of the waste in this nation is handled by land filling. She wishes that she could have a new life away from the environment she is currently in, and all the negativity that she is surrounded by. As she makes a wishby the wish fountain just like every other day, the only thing different this time is that this wish unexpectedly came true, and turns out to be more than she could handle. This book travels back during the Civil War era. Elliott choice of diction in my opinion was very good. This author not only captured my attention from the very first page, but she also uses terms and vocabulary that fits every scene that occurs next. As this book is told in first person: through Genna s point of view, I was able to get to know Genna as a person. I could connect and relate to some of her thoughts and feelings throughout the novel. It made me feel like Genna was my friend and that she was sharing her story with me. Some of the figurative language that I noticed while reading are the following: simile, imagery, personification, metaphor, hyperbole, alliteration, double entendre, and onomatopoeia. An example of one of the figurative language is hyperbole: She explains I m used to Rico and his boys with their scissor tongues, always cutting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Political Allegory In Alice In Wonderland One historical approach to Carroll s Alice in Wonderland invites the reader to observe the trends, culture as well as the philosophy of the Victorian Era for a personalized interpretation of Alice s encounters in Wonderland. Usage of the Historical approach may seem demoralizing in sheer scope; it is quite imperative to understand that the novel was written during a specific time period that, in itself, contained unique habits and concerns. Within the following pages, the connections with the Victorian erain terms of the middle class upbringing of children, notions of order, reasoning, logic and politesse will be further understood. Political allegory, a powerful theme that reflects brilliantly in the real life to England; the Wonderland, the symbolic England, The novel can be first identified as the direct opposite with characters that jigsaw into the real life. Wonderland was ruled unjustly by the Queen of Hearts, who, correspondingly was Queen Victoria. There were pieces of evidence that Carroll was not overly timid by the Queen. The aristocracy of violence that was assigned to Wonderland (the Queen and the Duchess) as well as the ludicrous mangling of justice in the trial ( Sentence first, then verdict ; the British system indeed at that time in shambles.) are often used as the evidence that Alice belonged to perhaps the genre of political satire more than Carroll had realized. John Bowlby s Theories of Attachment Theory John Bowlby had worked with residential school children as a volunteer early on in his career and had determined that the children who suffered the most from anger outbursts, aggressivity, and whom her termed affectionless were also the children who had suffered the most maternal deprivation (). Bowlby advanced that the loss of the mother figure was extremely distressing and damaging and could influence adults behavior years later. Hence, where psychoanalysishad been concerned solely with the imaginings of the childish mind, the fantasied pleasures and the dreaded retributions (Fonagy), Bowlby showed that humans do not develop in a void or as individual monads but as members of interacting systems. Bowlby developed his theory on attachment for several decades, and at a time where any dealings with childhood trauma were still rigorously influenced by Freudian psychoanalysis through the likes of psychoanalysts such Anna Freud or Melanie Klein. Even Winnicott was revulsed upon reading Bowlby s papers (siegel). It certainly was a bitter pill to swallow for psychoanalysts who had been repeating since Freud that the newborn was a little tyrant fighting for oral gratification at the mother s breast and merely clinging on to fulfil sexual instinctual needs. Bowlby s work was thus eschewed for a considerable time, despite his involvement with the World Health Organisation and the considerable empirical weight that was added to his findings by Mary Ainsworths studies in ... I had never heard its name, did not know where it was located, and I obviously had no idea about the extremely complex and serious ongoing issue with their government system. Moldova is one of the poorest countries in all of Europe and has been tossed around between Russian and Romanian control since the 16th century. It only officially declared its sovereignty from its last owner, Russia, in 1990, its independence in 1991, and became a part of the United Nations in 1992. I chose to research this issue because the current corruption of the Moldovan government and its impact on its people, is going to play a major role in the future of Moldova as a country. How these events are influencing the opinions of the people will ultimately determine the structure of Moldova s government, and this is a big deal for this struggling country. I personally do not have an opinion yet about this issue as I am not adequately informed about the pros and cons of the two political parties in conflict, but I hope to be able to better understand the two sides of this issue and possibly develop my own opinion on the issue of Moldova s future government. Moldova s people are faced between the choices of Socialist Russia, who is impressing on them with economical threats, or continuing down the path towards the EU, which as their government appears to be bathed with corrupted politics and politicians, is proving to be more of an obstacle than once imagined. Due to its unspoken nature within families, parents are often unaware of their child s/children s sexual activity. • 53. An Analysis of the Use of Nanotechnology in Electrical... The energy demand all over the world is expected to be 28 terawatts by 2050, which can lead to increase of energy consumption patterns and greenhouse gas production. (P.Alivisatos et al. 2005) One of the most significant issues the industrialised world is facing today is the energy challenge, issues associated with energy production, storage and reducing consumption of energy use. The use of energy has reason to rise over time due to an increase in the world population and the discovery of new technologies which require electrical energy. The electrical energy is used everywhere, from heating homes to manufacturing. The energy resources are divided into two types: alternative and traditional energy resources. The global energy challenge is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aim of this paper is to analyse the use of nanotechnology in alternative energy production, storage and as a means of reducing energy consumption. Roger A.Hinriches and Merlin Kleinbach (2006) declared (claimed) that every day the earth surface receives thousands of times more energy from the Sun than it consumed in all other resources . Cleanliness, availability and renewability of solar energy make it virtually ideal. (Grant E.Gardner, 2008). The use of solar energy for production of electricity is based on the photoelectric effect. The photoelectric effect is a process, when light strikes certain metals and, as a result, electrons are emitted from the metal surface. (Hugh D.Young, Roger A.Freedman 2008). Photovoltaic cells (PV), known as solar cells, are devices which collect radiation energy in the form of sunlight and convert into electricity. Solar cells are made of semiconducting materials, especially silicon. Silicon absorbs photons of light which strike the cells. The energy of the absorbed light transfers to the silicon semiconductor, after that this energy pushes electrons out. This is why the can flow freely which leads to the emergence of electric current. The electrical energy from solar cells can then be used directly. However, considerable amount of solar energy on PV cells ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Espionage In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel... Espionage has always been a crucial part of any war s success. It is vital to know what the enemy is planning to do and when they plan to execute their plans. This vital need has always caused the need for spies to conduct the espionage on enemies. However, the information that the spies collected was only as valuable as the amount of trust placed on a spy. A spy can gather information on enemies plans and report back to their boss, but if the boss does not trust the spy it could cause vital information to go unnoticed or not receive the proper urgency. These doubts about notes and letters are not limited to spymasters alone, many everyday citizens rely on the letters and notes of others. In his novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez uses letters and notes written between characters as a metaphor to represent the doubts the characters have about the information they are receiving. In order to better understand MГЎrquez s metaphor the letters Angela receives from her mother about San Roman, the letters returned to Nasar by his fiancГ©e, and the letters written to San Roman from Angela can all be further examined. In the first letter sent to Angela at school, MГЎrquez illustrates a mysterious new man who has arrived in town The strange man is called Bayardo San Roman, and everybody says he s enchanting, but I haven t seen him. • 56. Lester B. Pearson and the Suez Canal Crisis The Suez crisis was a conflict that could have easily turned into a third World War. With a battle between the Israelis and Egyptians at Sinai, the British and French invasion of Egypt, and nuclear threats from the Soviet Union, all of the elements were present to escalate the conflict and pull other countries into the fray. Canada had no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or economic interest. However, Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. Pearson, persuaded the UN General Assembly to send in the United Nations Emergency Force. Even though Lester B. • 57. Persuasive Essay On Virtual Reality Virtual reality is such a cool concept in technology. It s something that a lot of people are at the very least intrigued by. Maybe not something that they think about or look up on a daily basis, but something that they may keep an eye on. I mean Google has sold over 5 million Google cardboards and has shipped over 10 million of them. For those that don t know what Google cardboard is, it s a virtual realityplatform that Google made ( a cardboard headset) that you put on your head that you use in conjunction with your smart phone that can give you a virtual reality like experience. What you do is download some compatible apps, put your smart into the Google cardboard. Put it on your head and have some fun. I m very interested in virtual reality and what the future holds for it. Especially being a person who loves to play video games. I haven t gotten a chance to get my hands on a Playstation VR yet, but at some point I would love to try it out. Playstation VR for those that don t know is Sony s virtual reality device that you use with a Playstion 4. Playstaion has over 100 compatible games with the Playstaion VR and that just amazes me because it just released back in October of 2016. Also there was an anime (a Japanese cartoon) that came out a few years back called sword art online that peaked my interest in virtual reality. Sword art online is set in the near future and focuses on various virtual reality MMORPG s (Massively Multiplayer Online Role playing games). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
