Genogram And Ecomap Analysis
derived at this time in life, and quality of relationships. According to Pope, N. D., Lee, J. (2015) the
genogram and ecomap may be defined as a visual tool for exploring a client s social relationships
across time. Typically, these are familial relationships. In general, the genogram is useful in gathering
information, understanding relationship dynamics and behavioral patterns, promoting the client s self
understanding, conducting assessments, and guiding the practitioner to interventions (Pope, N. D.,
Lee, J.,2015). Social workers use genograms to gather information like values and ethics. Genograms
and Ecomaps are great assessment tools to reduce resistance as family members can see connections,
concerns, and family patterns. Furthermore, after processing the information and helping construct the
diagram the Ware family seemed to have close bonds with promising relationships. The family has
normal misunderstandings like other families but they strongly value each other by working together

The Current State Consists Of Fragmented Processes
The current state consists of fragmented processes, which is the source of all productivity issues and
inefficiency in the construction industry. The future state should be project focused rather than process
focused . To achieve this desired future state it is essential that these processes are transformed to a
more integrated approach. There should be better collaboration between the different stakeholders in
the industry such as architects, builders, owners and regulatory agencies that issues permits. In the
current, traditional system of project delivery, the relationship between these involved parties are
adversarial. This can lead to the project being marred with schedule delays, budget overruns, poor
quality, and disputes and litigations between the parties involved, as they play the blame game
refusing to take liability or responsibility for the different processes. The desired future state can be
reached through incorporating the more collaborative delivery methods that are gaining popularity,
like Design Build and Integrated Project Delivery. These systems are based on information and risk
sharing. IPD especially has a potential to incorporate Lean Construction practices and Target Value
Design in the process. The alliance of the owner, builder, design professional and other specialty
consultants for the project, can communicate effectively with each other on a common platform of
knowledge sharing. Problems that may arise during construction or design

Essay on District Budget Design
In a time of financial hard ships, balancing a districts budget has become increasingly difficult. As a
school board member for the Peoria School district it is important and crucial to effective budget
decision making to be educated on the school districts budget design and delegated responsibilities
within the system. These decisions need to be made based on the protection of public funds and
property. The legal responsibility for such protection rests solely with the board of education in each
school district (Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012, pg. 332). Areas vital to this effective decision
making of a board member are account practices, superintendent and board member responsibilities

Superintendent and School Board s Responsibilities The superintendent, by law in some states and by
assignment in others, is the executive officer charged with carrying out the programs that the budget
authorizes (Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012, pg. 284). Some of these responsibilities are delegated
within the business staff and district administrators. The school boards responsibility for operating
schools carries with it stated and implied powers for the protection of public funds and property
(Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012, pg. 332). The board will be presented the budget upon
completion and their job is to approve the budget. If they do not approve, they must give
administrative staff ideas on how to approve the plan in order for them to approve it. The principals
are chief financial officer at the school level (Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012). The principal will
carry out the plan and distribute money according to the needs of his or her school. The principal will
establish a two sided budget and ledger sheet with all receipts and expenditures along with monthly
reports that will be reported to the district office (Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012). Decentralize

The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction
The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction Aim We is going to investigate how temperature
effects the rate of reaction when we use a Magnesium Ribbon and dissolve it in Hydrochloric Acid.
Different Variables There are four different variables that effect the rate of reaction, surface area,
concentration, temperature and catalysts. Here is some information on each variable with diagrams.
How does surface area effect rate of reaction? In a substance the rate of reaction will be quicker if it
has a large surface area. However, if it has a small surface area the rate of reaction is much slower.
Rate of Reaction is much faster if the surface area is larger because much more of the ... Show more

6) The Bunsen burner will be lit using a match, put on the blue flame and placed under the beaker. 7)
When the temperature reaches 25°C, on the thermometer (It shouldn t take long as it is around room
temperature, anyway), we will take the test tube out of the water and place one of the pieces of
Magnesium Ribbon in the Hydrochloric Acid. We will start the stopwatch (a stopwatch gives us very
accurate readings when recording time) as soon as the Magnesium Ribbon hits the Hydrochloric Acid.
8) When the Magnesium Ribbon has completely disappeared, we shall stop the stopwatch and record
the time it took for the Magnesium Ribbon to disappear. 9) This process will be repeated for 25°C,
twice. Then we will do the same experiment for the other temperatures, doing each temperature three
times. The plan/method above is a very good way of carrying out the experiment. This is because the
rate of reaction is effected by temperature. Using the Bunsen burner makes this plan a good way of
carrying out this experiment. As the Hydrochloric acid will be heated using the blue flame, it will heat
up faster so the results for each temperature can be obtained quickly. Also using a stopwatch makes
the plan a very good way of carrying out the experiment because it is very precise when recording
how long it takes for something to happen. List of equipment Here is a list of equipment that we

Poisonwood Bible Seminar Questions

Questions 1.) Methuselah is a pronounced presence in the book. What is he meant to symbolize? What
are his captivity and freedom meant to represent? Methuselah symbolizes the Republic of Congo s
doom. The parrot is kept in a cage for the majority of his life. He is fed and taken care of by his
masters; he does not have to fend for himself, losing the primal instinct and simple ability to do so.
His captivity represents the Republic of Congo being controlled, divided, and changed by the other
nations. After Methuselah is liberated by Nathan Price, he stays close to the house, depending on the

chief who instructed my father, and all the ones before him, but you would have to know how to sit

laws without help from white men (Kingsolver 353). However, some of the Price daughters also
represent cultural arrogance. For instance, Leah worships her father and his mission, blindly following
him as if he is God himself. He planned to make a demonstration garden, from which we d gather a
harvest for our table and also supply food and seeds to the villagers [...] The grace of our good
intentions made me feel wise, blessed, and safe from snakes [...] Some people find him overly stern
and rightening, but that is only because he was gifted with such keen judgements and purity of heart.
He has been singled out for a life of trail, as Jesus was. Being always the first to spot flaws and

The Band Of The Rock Band Radiohead
On A Friday was the first name of the English Rock Band Radiohead. The
name On A Friday represented the day the members got together to practice. The band
members all met at the Abingdon School, a independent school for boys, in the town
of Abingdon, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Thom Yorke lead vocals, guitar, piano and
keyboards, Jonny Greenwood lead guitar, keyboards and other instruments,
Ed O Brien guitar and backing vocals, Colin Greenwood bass and Phil Selway
drums, percussion and backing vocals, formed the band in 1985. The band s songs are
classified in the categories of Art Rock, Alternative Rock, Electronica and Experimental
Rock.
After years of doing local clubs and shows, On a Friday signed a six album
contract with EMI Records, a British record label, in 1991. At the request of the record
label the band changed their name to Radiohead. Taken from the song Radio Head by
the Talking Heads from their album True Stories.
Radiohead released their first single in 1992 entitled Creep. The single was
from their debut album Pablo Honey in 1993. Creep became a worldwide hit
when the album was released.
Radiohead s second album The Bends, released in 1995, made them hugely
popular in the United Kingdom. When their third album was released in 1997, entitled
OK Computer, they became an international sensation. OK Computer has been
considered one of the best albums of all time.

False Confessions Case Study
Even in the case of presenting false evidence, like DNA, fingerprints or video recorded material in
order to get a confession from the suspect, participants found this procedure extremely coercive but
apparently not coercive enough to elicit a false confession. According to above results, it seems that
potential jurors do not seem to realize that there is a very important connection between coercive
interrogations and false confessions. If jurors cannot be open to the idea of a false confession being a
product of a psychological pressure under interrogation then this would definitely have a critical
impact on the outcome of a trial.
On the other hand, since this was a study conducted with a student sample there are some restrictions
in generalizing its findings to the general public especially police investigators. However, according to
a research by Kassin, Meissner Norwick including both student participants and police investigators
shows some very important findings on this matter. In the present study, 118 participants served as
judges in confessions from 17 inmate volunteers. The true volunteers participated in two videotaped

Kipling s Feelings About The Government
Kipling in his writing shows several hints about how he feels about the government; the first obvious
notice is this, The politics of Loaferdom that sees things from the underside where the lath and plaster
is not smoothed off. He s hinting at the connotation that there are imperfections within the system that
some can see. Kiplings narrative not only shows a personal opinion, but also what some people would
contradict him with. Take Peachey and Dravot for instance, who one not only said in a connotative
way that he believes in is King, I greatly fear that my King is dead, and if I want a crown I must go
and hunt it for myself. This character within the story showed a persona of some people and how they

This is a desperate hyperbole of a sentence, to threaten the possibility of someone being cut to pieces,

different way of living.
Trudging back to what the opinion is on different classes, later in the story the main character
addresses the different people that come into the newspaper building, every dissolute ruffian that ever
tramped the Grand Trunk Road makes it his business to ask for employment as a proof reader. He does
not believe people are entitled, let alone one s that he would consider undermining or ruffian in nature.

Essay about Napoleons Farwell Address Speech Analysis
Napoleon s Farewell Address To The Old Guard
A truly dramatic moment in history occurred on April 20, 1814, as Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of
France and would be ruler of Europe said goodbye to the Old Guard after his failed invasion of Russia
and defeat by the Allies.
By that time, Napoleon had ruled France and surrounding countries for twenty years. Originally an
officer in the French Army, he had risen to become Emperor among the political chaos following the
French Revolution in which the old ruling French kings and nobility had been destroyed.
Napoleon built a 500,000 strong Army, which used modern tactics and improvisation in battle to
sweep across Europe and acquire an Empire for France.
But in 1812, the seemingly invincible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soldiers of my Old Guard: I bid you farewell. For twenty years I have constantly accompanied you on
the road to honor and glory. In these latter times, as in the days of our prosperity, you have invariably
been models of courage and fidelity. With men such as you our cause could not be lost; but the war
would have been interminable; it would have been civil war, and that would have entailed deeper
misfortunes on France.
I have sacrificed all of my interests to those of the country.
I go, but you, my friends, will continue to serve France. Her happiness was my only thought. It will
still be the object of my wishes. Do not regret my fate; if I have consented to survive, it is to serve
your glory. I intend to write the history of the great achievements we have performed together. Adieu,
my friends. Would I could press you all to my heart.
Napoleon Bonaparte April 20, 1814
Following this, Napoleon was sent into exile on the little island of Elba off the coast of Italy. But ten
months later, in March of 1815, he escaped back into France. Accompanied by a thousand men from
his Old Guard he marched toward Paris and gathered an army of supporters along the way.
Once again, Napoleon assumed the position of Emperor, but it lasted only 100 days until the battle of
Waterloo and was defeated by the English and Prussian Armies on June 18, 1815.
A month later he was sent into exile on the island of St. Helena off the coast of Africa. On May 5,

The Rule of Law Essay
The rule of law is a difficult concept to grasp and proves elusive to substantive definition. However,
the following work considers the attempts of various social and legal theorists to define the concept
and pertinent authorities are considered. Attitudes and emphasis as to the exact shape, form and
content of the rule of law differ quite widely depending on the socio political perspective and views of
respective commentators (Slapper and Kelly, 2009, p16), although there are common themes that are
almost universally adopted. The conclusions to this work endeavour to consolidate thinking on the
rule of law in order to address the question posed in the title, which is at first sight a deceptively
simple one. The rule of law Modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slapper and Kelly postulate that: the rule of law represents a symbolic ideal against which the
proponents of widely divergent political persuasions measures and criticise the shortcomings of
contemporary State practice. (Slapper and Kelly, 2009, p15) These commentators concede that the
concept lacks precision and that its meaning changes over time. Noted legal philosopher Joseph Raz
accepted the necessity for State intervention in society and suggests that the rule of law is essentially a
means of controlling, limiting and shaping the exercise of discretion in this intervention, rather than
seeking to abolish it entirely (Raz, 1977, p195). Raz clearly appreciated the risks associated with the
arbitrary and uncontrolled exercise of discretionary power and envisaged the principle of the rule of
law as the primary safeguard against that threat. Many other writers appear to share the opinion
expressed by Raz that the raison d être of the rule of law is to control the exercise of discretion,
including Dicey, Hayek and Thompson, and to a lesser extent Unger and Weber. Dicey, for example,
in his highly influential magnum opus, An Introduction to the Study of the Law of the Constitution,
suggested that the rule of law is composed of three distinct and specific, but indivisible elements
(Dicey, 1885, p179 201). These are: 1. An absence of arbitrary power in the hands of the State; 2. The
supremacy of ordinary

What Not to Say to a (fill in the blank) lists on the Internet. The general tone of most of them is

really bother me. It s part of the job. Shouldn t adults be able to handle people not being Emily Post in
every situation?
As for people not understanding me as a writer like people may not understand the plight of the artist
or bartender I typically assume this is the case. I assume people don t know how many hours I spend
at meetings or doing research to get one 600 word story, because why would they? My suspicion is
that these lists are like trade magazines and are read primarily by members of the niche group (artist,
adoptive parent, bartender) more than they are by the intended audience. But if I m wrong, instead of
keeping insensitive, obtuse comments at bay they create an atmosphere of fear. Instead of saying
something insensitive, which may very well have been unintentional, people might decide not to
communicate at all because they don t want to offend. The last thing I want, especially as a journalist,
is for people to be afraid to talk to me openly.
Don t get me wrong I love a good list (grocery lists, to do lists, playlists), and study after study shows
that the brain responds well to them. Umberto Eco told The Atlantic the list has an irresistible magic
and in cultural history has prevailed over and over again. Agreed.

worse as Europeans did not seem interested in ethnic cleansing. I think Congo might possibly be a lost

they fight amongst themselves. This setting perfectly describes a modern tragedy since they are
unwilling to unite in order to create an optimal society for themselves especially given that no other

Introduction: Throughout history there are many examples of humans conducting experiments on
other humans. Over the years human experimentation has greatly advanced the knowledge of human
physiology and psychology, leading to better treatments for ailments both physical and mental as well
as a better overall understanding of the human constitution. Despite all of the good which human
experimentation has done for the human race there have been times when experimenters have taken
human experimentation past the bounds of morality. This unethical human experimentation is most

In 1939 an experiment now known as the Monster Study was conducted on 22 orphaned children by
Wendell Johnson, a very influential speech pathologist at the University of Iowa. In this experiment
the orphaned children were divided up into two separate groups. One group was given positive speech
therapy, in which they were praised for their fluency. The other group was given negative speech
therapy. They were belittled for every speech imperfection and told that they were stutterers. Many of
the normal speaking children who were subjected to the negative speech therapy experienced negative
psychological effects and some developed lasting speech impediments. The Tuskegee syphilis

treatments for syphilis were toxic and it was questionable whether or not they actually worked. The
goal, at the experiment s beginning, was to determine if a patient was better off without such toxic
treatments. The experimenters also hoped to develop effective methods of treating each stage of
syphilis. They also hoped to be able to justify treatment programs for blacks. However, by 1947

How Ww1 Changed British Literature
World War One began on July 28, 1914 and ended with the signing of the armistice on November 11,

were thirty seven million, with another eleven million civilian casualties. The British Empire alone
lost over three million people in the war. (English) World War One effected the whole world the
heartache and bloodshed changed politics, economics, and public opinion. This war changed people s

The three notable poets of the Victorian age became similarly absorbed in social issues. Beginning as
a poet of pure romantic escapism, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, soon moved on to problems of religious
faith, social change, and political power. All the characteristic moods of his poetry, from brooding
splendor to lyrical sweetness, are expressed with smooth technical mastery. His style, as well as his
peculiarly English conservatism, stands in some contrast to the intellectuality and bracing harshness of
the poetry of Robert Browning. Matthew Arnold, the third of these mid Victorian poets, stands apart
from them as a more subtle and balanced thinker his literary criticism is the most remarkable written
in Victorian times. His poetry displays a sorrowful, disillusioned pessimism over the human plight in
rapidly changing times, a pessimism countered, however, by a strong sense of duty. (English) World

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
The collapse of the Soviet Union can ultimately be attributed to three broad, complex, and
interconnected issues: The economy, Leadership, and Geography. All three of theses factors are
interconnected and each contain several reasons why they contributed to the ultimate collapse of the
Soviet Union. The first and most simple reason the Soviet Union failed can be attributed to their
geographical challenges. The Soviet Union suffered two problems in regard to geographic challenges.
Firstly the country itself was far too vast, and its influence spread too far for there to be an easy to
spread authority (Suny). With such as large state to control there was realistically no feasible way that
influence from Moscow could control a large territory from Central Asia to Eastern Europe. This is a
territory that contained various amounts of ethnicities, religions, and cultures. In an obvious
perspective larger an state gets the harder it is to be controlled. Analytically speaking it is rather
impossible to control such a territory from a central authority. With the Soviet centrally commanded

Torpedoes Research Paper
Torpedoes can easily be considered one of the most significant modern inventions in maritime history
leading up to the advancements made during the late 1800s. The earliest torpedoes in today s terms
would be considered mines, as they were not self propelled, and existed in the early 1800s.
Adaptations of early sedentary torpedoes were used widely during the American Civil War, although
their significance in naval warfare was overshadowed by the emergence of steam engines and iron
armor on ships. Post Civil War, many advancements were made regarding rifling that led to the
invention of the self propelled torpedo. In World War I and World War II, torpedoes were the weapon
of choice in naval engagements. Torpedoes continued to be a threat ... Show more content on

An inventor by the name of David Bushnell retrofitted a wooden barrel into a submersible, attached
with a smaller barrel containing a 150 lb charge of gunpowder (Thomas). The Turtle s task was a
discreet offensive mission attempting to blow a hole in the convoy of ships blockading the New York
harbor (Thomas). In the end, the Turtle was deemed unsuccessful and the project was abandoned.
Years later Robert Fulton, with the knowledge of Bushnell s work, saw the torpedo as the opportunity
to be a defensive weapon to keep the seas safe for travel and comerce (Cutcliffe and Fabbri 879).
Fulton s torpedo was an underwater mine that would be connected to the sea floor by chain, where it
would reside indefinitely. He struck some setbacks initially with the gunpowder housing, as it was
found it did not efficiently explode on impact in every instance (Branfill Cook 13). In France during
the year 1805, he conducted unsuccessful experiments with the French Navy attempting to sink a ship
anchored in the harbor using towed torpedoes (Cutcliffe and Fabbri 885). Just before Fulton died at
the age of forty nine he composed the idea behind the spar torpedo, which later became his legacy and
the primary motivator for the creation of the CSS Hunley and its attempted use of a spar torpedo

Sleepy Hollow Duality
In the town of Sleepy Hollow, we find Ichabod Crane, the protagonist, who begins to notice the
daughter of the richest man in town, Katrina. He decides to pursue a relationship with Katrina.
However, this decision starts trouble with Katrina s other suitor, Abraham Brom Van Brunt. There is a
party at Katrina s house later, she breaks up with Ichabod. Heartbroken Ichabod makes his way home
when he is interrupted by the Headless Horseman. The next day, Ichabod has disappeared and no one
knows what happened to him. Washington Irving s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a prototype for
the modern day film.

However, the story does play in favor of its audience. Due to the fact, The Adventures of Ichabod and
Mr. Toad is meant for children the storyline is heavily playful and light hearted. For example, in a
scene in the film, the audience can see Ichabod dancing on top of a pumpkin while his rival, Brom, is
being squeezed and chased by an unwanted dance partner. In Disney s telling of the story, every
character s personality traits are heavily played into. For instance, Katrina is supposed to be a flirt and
we see the townsmen follow and obey her every whim. Another example would be Ichabod s
gluttonous characteristic. This can be seen where Ichabod is punishing a child but stops because there
is a lot of food in the boy s basket. Although, Disney does not stray from the original telling he does
add a few musical numbers to the story which is a common theme in Disney movies. Another
difference that Disney s telling has from the original work is that he heavily suggests two things. First,
the possibility that Katrina is using Ichabod to make Brom jealous. Lastly, the disappearance of
Ichabod is focused on the Headless Horseman as the accused. Disney s translation of The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow is an example of the story being

The Interview With A Interview Essay
Although, all the participants had not experienced being in an interview before, they agree to have the
interviews recorded. For them, it was the first time spoke openly to a person outside of their family
and friends cycle about their experience. Women showed their interest on my research and felt that
their participation might be helpful in informing cancer health care services. My aim from the
recorded interviews is to understand how women response and interact with my questions that enabled
the collection of rich data.
Elliott (2005) stressed on the importance of telling the interviewees from the beginning about the
timing as to make them aware of how much information to share. The Interview duration was last
between one and two hours including pausing because some women were emotionally affected. The
interviews private setting at the hospital helped the recordings to be clear with minimal noise and
distractions. A number of participants were comfortable talking with me about their personal
experiences and private issues and found it very useful to express their emotions. However, some
women commented being uncomfortable discussing issues related to financial and social issues. Some
women tend to give socially pleasing answers; this type of responses noted mostly when they describe
their position as cancer survivors. Therefore, further questions and asking for examples were used to
elicit deeper understanding.

that these pollinators find your vegetable plants, have flowers with high nectar content planted along

sunflowers, cosmos and zinnias are ideal for attracting pollinators.
* For Attracting Beneficial Insects. If you are like most people nowadays, you will want to opt for

Evaluating Kamil s Instructional Level And Needs
The examiner conducted several assessments in order to determine Kamil s instructional level and
needs in the area of decoding, attitude about reading as well as his ability to comprehend and retell a
text. The information derived from the series of assessments has helped plan for meaningful
instruction, which in the opinion of examiner will meet Kamil s instructional needs and support the
increase of motivation towards reading. Below are the recommendations for each area of the
instructional need.
Attitude about Reading The Motivation to Read Profile survey reveals that Kamil feels good as a
reader and he has a positive attitude towards reading. He also seems to read books which he chooses
by himself and which are mostly comic books. Therefore, it is important to improve Kamil s
motivation and engagement in choosing various genres of literature in order to expose him to the
complex nature of English language. One way to increase Kamil s desire to reach for a wide variety of
books is implementing activity titled Three piece Kits (Edmunds Bauserman, 2006). The teacher
creates a three piece kit containing three different types and/or genres of books in a bag. The kit
should contain a narrative text, a poem and an expository book on a topic Kamil finds interesting. For
example, Kamil s teacher can collect an autobiography/narrative book titled Knucklehead, a collection
of war poems and an informational book about World War I/II. Kamil may find these books interesting

The Dangers Of Censorship In The Media And The Internet
Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are
considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. There are good reasons why
censorship is used, such as some information might have to be censored for the content it might
display and cause a disturbance. Countries try not abuse the fact they are allowed to do this because
they are the ones who create the rules. However, China is abusing this fact and has been doing it to the
point people are fearing what they can post or use on the internet. This issue was brought up because it
has many different types of medians that express why it is important for the safety of free speech.
Firstly, the discussion will start off with why is censorship good and bad. Secondly, it converses the
three main types of medians that display this problem are featured articles, videos, and letters.
Censorship is great when it is used properly but can go too far when in the wrong hands.
Censorship
When the topic of censorship comes up, some individuals will complain that it was a mistake to ever
use a tactic to cover up information. But can this world handle most of what is going on behind the
scenes of the government. We all want to know everything that is going on in the world, but that could
come at a price. We would find out information that could cause countries to fight against their own

The Importance Of My Culture
All around the world there exists a myriad of many different cultures. Each differs from the next with
unique characteristics that pertain to that specific culture. In spite of all the unique differences that
make my culture mine and your culture yours. We all share commonalities in how we interact with
each other. We let common principles and values influence and shape our interactions with those
around us. It is also based upon those principles and values how we integrate and categorize
individuals. Music is a perfect example of this. Being the universal language of the world, music has a
great deal of influence on not only how we interact within our culture but also how we integrate. And
is a perfect representation of where we are in culture and in society.
For thousands of years music has been an integral component to our creativity and development.
Music serves as an escape route for many of us. Its somewhere where you can leave your most
complex and personal thoughts for the world to see, or better yet listen. Or it can be where you let
your mind float off into the tranquil melodic vibes of the song. Have you ever played one of your
favorite songs and immediately felt your skin tighten up as hundreds of goosebumps emerged? I
believe music is an art of its own as it is an outlet that gives you the power to express yourself and
allow others to perceive and appreciate your art. It is a mirror of your emotions and aspirations. It is

History On The Origin Of State Charters Essay
Brief History on the Origin of State Charters in California
California has followed the steps of many American states by committing its efforts on ensuring
educational developments through improved governance systems. In the last half a decade or so, there
have emerged diverse levels of studies in California State majorly because of three reasons which
include several legislative practices, institutions, and participation of state agencies. The California
Educational Commission was created as early as 1899 with a number of 70 members to study the state
s educational program with an effort of improving it. Of much interest was the recommendation that
legislation had to be twisted to form a uniform board for the governing of normal colleges and
universities in California. This issue resulted in the formulation of a law that placed the normal
colleges and universities in California under the State Board of Education.
A legislation in the year 1992 found it necessary to have schools and authorized their creation. The
legislation also came up with requirements for appeal signature and as a result a county appeals
process was created and whose charter renewal came after every five years. The legislation also made
clear the grounds for which the charters could be considered null and void. The flexibility of the
legislation allowed there to be an amendment in 1998, which brought about a change in the
requirements for petition signature and gave the mandate of revoking any charter to

Bowling For Columbine as a Carnivelsque Essay
To what extent can BFC be viewed as drawing on key elements of Bakhtin s notion of carnivalesque?
Bowling for Columbine is a post structural film produced by Mike Moore. It leaves a message about
America and its people. Today, the world is not a safe place. However, the world is made unsafe by
the people who don t believe it is safe. This is what the film is based on: fear and guns. Bowling For
Columbine is a carnivalesque to an extent as it contains many elements of a carnivalesque. These
elements are shown through repetition, polyphony of voices and the creation of another world.

The repetition of ideas and random images has a significant impact on the answer to the film and the
responders. There are many ideas that are seemingly insignificant to guns that are constantly being
brought up. However, they all represent some part of America, its people and fear. The report on
Africanized bees seems random yet is very significant when relating it to the black and white
community. Africanized bees are a lot more harmful than the normal bees that America has. Therefore,
families try to kill these Africanized bees. These bees represent the black community and the normal
bees represent the white community as they have a bigger population and are less harmful from a
white person s point of view. Identical reports are also repeated to make the point clearer. This is
shown through Moore s arrangement of clips so that reporters are shown to repeat Black man and
suspect continuously. Random images such as these are constantly repeated in the film. This brings
forward many ideas as the responder wonders how they relate to the idea of America and guns in the

lasting longer as the body remains sleeping (Woolman). Some people say they don t experience
dreaming at all, which is not possible. What they are really saying is that they don t remember their

it can take about thirty minutes. This is considered the rapid eye movement (REM) cycle. During

Cognitive theory on dreaming was explored by Calvin Hall, a behavioral psychologist. Hall writes,
The images of a dream are the concrete embodiments of the dreamer s thoughts; these images give
visual expression to that which is invisible, namely, conceptions ( Calvin Hall and The Cognitive
Theory of Dreaming ). Dreams are a way of displaying how we envision the our lives. Hall did a study
where he asked his students about their dreams, after studying thousands of them, he came down to
what dreams are really about. Hall suggested that the main cognitive structures that dreams reveal
include: conceptions of self, others, the world, penalties, or conflict ( Calvin Hall and The Cognitive
Theory of Dreaming ). Other studies that have been done about dreaming disclose that it can predict
what s next in life. Reports indicate dreams have foretold events upcoming in the dreamer s life,
including death. One study reports that 70 percent of women successfully predicted the sex of their

Social Well being
The implication of non compliance to the social well being is extremely great. If a biotech company
has a product that is needed by humans then non compliance could delay or terminate this product
before it can do any public good. Compliance on the other had will allow the company to produce
many worthwhile products that may lessen human suffering and provide a safer, healthier society.
Recommendations
Ventria should consider the following recommendations to help ensure their future success. 1. Seek
additional private sector funding 2. Initiate safe, non environmentally threatening products that can
come to market relatively sooner than other projects. 3. Realign goals and objectives to fit more with
what will appeal to investors 4. Design an internal quality assurance team that would have standards
as high as regulatory agencies.
Ventria must not allow initial setbacks in the early years of their existence to dictate their future
success. Many companies do not usually succeed after only two years (Lawrence amp; Weber, 2011).
They must allow the network of industry organization serve as mentors and partners to get them to the
next level of research and later success.

Gilead s Motherhood
In this novel motherhood is portrayed as some kind of power and/or privilege. In Gilead not all
women can have children so certain women become national resource. They are stripped away from
their identity, family, jobs, and money and become used by the government. The government uses
women as machines just to create healthy babies for the wives to rise as their own child. The
government makes handmaids feel like they are important. They try to make them believe that giving
birth is such a good thing. In reality Gilead is oppressing them because even if they were to have a
baby they wouldn t be able to play the role of mothers. Motherhood is a luxury and definitely not for
the handmaids. Gilead controls this closely because it s needed in

Biography of Eugene O Neil Essay
Biography of Eugene O Neil Eugene O neill Through poverty and fame, An artist or nothing (Miller
p6), was the motto of a man named Eugene O Neill, who wrote from his soul in an attempt to find
salvation. In the year 1888, the Barrett House hotel in Time Square, New York saw the birth of a man
who would be called the greatest American playwright. His father James, was an actor, and was
famous across the United Sates for his role in the popular play Monte Cristo. Eugene s mother was a
beautiful woman named Ellen who was also gifted with a great artistic talent. Through out his life, he
would travel all over the world, marry three women, have three children, and write some of the best
American Drama that would ever be written. Much of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His problems, arose when he entered into Princeton University in 1906. He held strongly to the
philosophy of all play and no work (Miller p4), and he was eventually suspended. This was because he
was caught by the yard master breaking power cables and windows in the University train station. His
suspension was to last only for two weeks but he never returned to campus. Officially he was expelled
from the school for poor academic standing. Eugene moved into a New York apartment with his friend
Frank Best after leaving Princeton. He held a trivial job as secretary to the president of a small
shipping company. He spent his earnings and his father s allowance on wild living, he met James
Findlater who was to become his best friend and bases for the character Jimmy Tomorrow from
Iceman Cometh and was the same character in Tomorrow which was one of O Neil s only short
stories. James would eventually introduce Eugene to Kathleen Jenkins, the daughter of a wealthy New
York business man. Her parents objected to any marriage taking place and so did his. They would
eventually elope though in the fall of 1909 when Eugene discovered his father was sending him to
Honduras to look for gold. Fourteen days after the wedding, Eugene found himself in Mexico where
he ended his journey south due to a tough battle with Malaria. He would return to New York after his
recovery, but still refused to live with his wife. He took up a job with his father s acting troop but

Juvenile Justice System And Treatment For Juveniles
In the past, children who were apprehended for committing crimes, were tried in the same courts as
adults. Furthermore, when the children were found guilty, they were given the same punishments as
the adults (Austin, Johnson Gregoriou, 2000). Today, a separate justice system exists for children who
commit crimes. The concept of a distinct justice system and treatment for juveniles has come under
attack in recent years because communities across the nation began to experience dramatically
increased rates of juvenile crime. The increasing incidence and severity of crimes committed by
juveniles led many to question the efficacy of the juvenile court system and to call for a harsher
response to juvenile crime. This has led to more juvenile arrests,

Abnormal Behavior And Aberrant Behavior
While no commonly recognized definition of the term abnormality exists to examine the observations
described below, most descriptions of aberrant behavior share some common aspects, namely,
deviance, dysfunction, danger and distress ( four Ds ). In other words, mental aberration patterns are
usually deviant (atypical, out of the ordinary, radical, possibly even strange), distressing (distasteful
and disturbing to the individual), potentially dangerous, and dysfunctional (hampering the individual s
capacity of carrying out everyday tasks constructively). Such a broad description provides a valuable
basis for examining the abnormal phenomena outlined in this paper (Comer, 2013).
A few days ago, I met twenty eight year old Joanna, a friend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While she expressed concerns about this issue, she claimed there was no way she could control it.
Joanna clearly exhibits dysfunctional behavior which hampers her everyday functioning.
Dysfunctional conduct distresses, confuses and sidetracks individuals such that their productivity and
participation in normal social activities gets adversely affected and they are unable to adequately take
care of themselves (Comer, 2013). This is evident in Joanna s sleep disturbances, chronic anxiety,
joblessness, and negative impact on her health. Her conduct distresses her and is evidently deviant
from normal behavior. Hence, it may be considered an abnormal occurrence which defies principles of
normalcy. Our cultural and societal norms highlight the significance of effectively performing
everyday activities. Obsessions such as those exhibited by Joanna aren t an ordinary component of and
individual s behavior. Joanna s habits will probably be perceived as unwelcome and atypical. Her
activities may be considered abnormal as they are consistent with OCD (obsessive compulsive
disorder) symptoms, which involve repeated compulsions and obsessions capable of greatly
interfering with a person s everyday activities. OCD symptoms generally have 4 key facets:
obsessions linked to checking compulsions, obsessions with cleanliness linked to a compulsion to
wash and clean constantly, hoarding related habits, and a need for order and symmetry. Two of the

An Opinion was filed on July 15, 1983 by the Supreme Court of Kansas that further explained the

asserts that the PEERA enforces mandatory responsibilities upon the public employer and the

improvement of employer employee relations (Courtlistener.com). The PEERA, K.S.A. 75 4321 et

Twisted Sister Transcendentalism
The song We re Not Gonna Take It by Twisted sister there are a lot of different transcendental
elements that people don t really know about hidden inside the song. In the song it shows confidence,
self reliance, individuality, and nonconformity. Twisted Sister wrote the song to stand up for yourself
and make sure you do something about it. In the song We re Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister the
lyrics say Your life is trite and jaded boring and confiscated if that s your best, your best won t do. The
point of this line is to say that stop being boring cause that isn t truly who you are and do something
and don t let anyone stop you. This quote is a example of self reliance cause you have to be the one to

  • 2. Genogram And Ecomap Analysis derived at this time in life, and quality of relationships. According to Pope, N. D., Lee, J. (2015) the genogram and ecomap may be defined as a visual tool for exploring a client s social relationships across time. Typically, these are familial relationships. In general, the genogram is useful in gathering information, understanding relationship dynamics and behavioral patterns, promoting the client s self understanding, conducting assessments, and guiding the practitioner to interventions (Pope, N. D., Lee, J.,2015). Social workers use genograms to gather information like values and ethics. Genograms and Ecomaps are great assessment tools to reduce resistance as family members can see connections, concerns, and family patterns. Furthermore, after processing the information and helping construct the diagram the Ware family seemed to have close bonds with promising relationships. • 3. The Current State Consists Of Fragmented Processes The current state consists of fragmented processes, which is the source of all productivity issues and inefficiency in the construction industry. The future state should be project focused rather than process focused . To achieve this desired future state it is essential that these processes are transformed to a more integrated approach. There should be better collaboration between the different stakeholders in the industry such as architects, builders, owners and regulatory agencies that issues permits. In the current, traditional system of project delivery, the relationship between these involved parties are adversarial. This can lead to the project being marred with schedule delays, budget overruns, poor quality, and disputes and litigations between the parties involved, as they play the blame game refusing to take liability or responsibility for the different processes. The desired future state can be reached through incorporating the more collaborative delivery methods that are gaining popularity, like Design Build and Integrated Project Delivery. These systems are based on information and risk sharing. IPD especially has a potential to incorporate Lean Construction practices and Target Value Design in the process. The alliance of the owner, builder, design professional and other specialty consultants for the project, can communicate effectively with each other on a common platform of knowledge sharing. As a school board member for the Peoria School district it is important and crucial to effective budget decision making to be educated on the school districts budget design and delegated responsibilities within the system. These decisions need to be made based on the protection of public funds and property. The legal responsibility for such protection rests solely with the board of education in each school district (Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012, pg. 332). Some of these responsibilities are delegated within the business staff and district administrators. The school boards responsibility for operating schools carries with it stated and implied powers for the protection of public funds and property (Brimley, Verstengen, Garfield, 2012, pg. 332). The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction Aim We is going to investigate how temperature effects the rate of reaction when we use a Magnesium Ribbon and dissolve it in Hydrochloric Acid. Different Variables There are four different variables that effect the rate of reaction, surface area, concentration, temperature and catalysts. Here is some information on each variable with diagrams. How does surface area effect rate of reaction? In a substance the rate of reaction will be quicker if it has a large surface area. We will start the stopwatch (a stopwatch gives us very accurate readings when recording time) as soon as the Magnesium Ribbon hits the Hydrochloric Acid. 8) When the Magnesium Ribbon has completely disappeared, we shall stop the stopwatch and record the time it took for the Magnesium Ribbon to disappear. 9) This process will be repeated for 25°C, twice. Then we will do the same experiment for the other temperatures, doing each temperature three times. The plan/method above is a very good way of carrying out the experiment. This is because the rate of reaction is effected by temperature. Using the Bunsen burner makes this plan a good way of carrying out this experiment. As the Hydrochloric acid will be heated using the blue flame, it will heat up faster so the results for each temperature can be obtained quickly. Also using a stopwatch makes the plan a very good way of carrying out the experiment because it is very precise when recording how long it takes for something to happen. False Confessions Case Study Even in the case of presenting false evidence, like DNA, fingerprints or video recorded material in order to get a confession from the suspect, participants found this procedure extremely coercive but apparently not coercive enough to elicit a false confession. According to above results, it seems that potential jurors do not seem to realize that there is a very important connection between coercive interrogations and false confessions. If jurors cannot be open to the idea of a false confession being a product of a psychological pressure under interrogation then this would definitely have a critical impact on the outcome of a trial. On the other hand, since this was a study conducted with a student sample there are some restrictions in generalizing its findings to the general public especially police investigators. However, according to a research by Kassin, Meissner Norwick including both student participants and police investigators shows some very important findings on this matter. By that time, Napoleon had ruled France and surrounding countries for twenty years. Originally an officer in the French Army, he had risen to become Emperor among the political chaos following the French Revolution in which the old ruling French kings and nobility had been destroyed. Napoleon built a 500,000 strong Army, which used modern tactics and improvisation in battle to sweep across Europe and acquire an Empire for France. But in 1812, the seemingly invincible ... In these latter times, as in the days of our prosperity, you have invariably been models of courage and fidelity. With men such as you our cause could not be lost; but the war would have been interminable; it would have been civil war, and that would have entailed deeper misfortunes on France. I have sacrificed all of my interests to those of the country. I go, but you, my friends, will continue to serve France. Her happiness was my only thought. It will still be the object of my wishes. Do not regret my fate; if I have consented to survive, it is to serve your glory. I intend to write the history of the great achievements we have performed together. Adieu, my friends. However, the following work considers the attempts of various social and legal theorists to define the concept and pertinent authorities are considered. Attitudes and emphasis as to the exact shape, form and content of the rule of law differ quite widely depending on the socio political perspective and views of respective commentators (Slapper and Kelly, 2009, p16), although there are common themes that are almost universally adopted. The conclusions to this work endeavour to consolidate thinking on the rule of law in order to address the question posed in the title, which is at first sight a deceptively simple one. Slapper and Kelly postulate that: the rule of law represents a symbolic ideal against which the proponents of widely divergent political persuasions measures and criticise the shortcomings of contemporary State practice. (Slapper and Kelly, 2009, p15) These commentators concede that the concept lacks precision and that its meaning changes over time. Noted legal philosopher Joseph Raz accepted the necessity for State intervention in society and suggests that the rule of law is essentially a means of controlling, limiting and shaping the exercise of discretion in this intervention, rather than seeking to abolish it entirely (Raz, 1977, p195). Raz clearly appreciated the risks associated with the arbitrary and uncontrolled exercise of discretionary power and envisaged the principle of the rule of law as the primary safeguard against that threat. Many other writers appear to share the opinion expressed by Raz that the raison d être of the rule of law is to control the exercise of discretion, including Dicey, Hayek and Thompson, and to a lesser extent Unger and Weber. Dicey, for example, in his highly influential magnum opus, An Introduction to the Study of the Law of the Constitution, suggested that the rule of law is composed of three distinct and specific, but indivisible elements (Dicey, 1885, p179 201). All three of theses factors are interconnected and each contain several reasons why they contributed to the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union. The first and most simple reason the Soviet Union failed can be attributed to their geographical challenges. The Soviet Union suffered two problems in regard to geographic challenges. Firstly the country itself was far too vast, and its influence spread too far for there to be an easy to spread authority (Suny). With such as large state to control there was realistically no feasible way that influence from Moscow could control a large territory from Central Asia to Eastern Europe. In the end, the Turtle was deemed unsuccessful and the project was abandoned. Years later Robert Fulton, with the knowledge of Bushnell s work, saw the torpedo as the opportunity to be a defensive weapon to keep the seas safe for travel and comerce (Cutcliffe and Fabbri 879). Fulton s torpedo was an underwater mine that would be connected to the sea floor by chain, where it would reside indefinitely. • 45. Juvenile Justice System And Treatment For Juveniles In the past, children who were apprehended for committing crimes, were tried in the same courts as adults. Furthermore, when the children were found guilty, they were given the same punishments as the adults (Austin, Johnson Gregoriou, 2000). Today, a separate justice system exists for children who commit crimes. The concept of a distinct justice system and treatment for juveniles has come under attack in recent years because communities across the nation began to experience dramatically increased rates of juvenile crime. The increasing incidence and severity of crimes committed by juveniles led many to question the efficacy of the juvenile court system and to call for a harsher response to juvenile crime. This has led to more juvenile arrests, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abnormal Behavior And Aberrant Behavior While no commonly recognized definition of the term abnormality exists to examine the observations described below, most descriptions of aberrant behavior share some common aspects, namely, deviance, dysfunction, danger and distress ( four Ds ). In other words, mental aberration patterns are usually deviant (atypical, out of the ordinary, radical, possibly even strange), distressing (distasteful and disturbing to the individual), potentially dangerous, and dysfunctional (hampering the individual s capacity of carrying out everyday tasks constructively). Such a broad description provides a valuable basis for examining the abnormal phenomena outlined in this paper (Comer, 2013). A few days ago, I met twenty eight year old Joanna, a friend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she expressed concerns about this issue, she claimed there was no way she could control it. Joanna clearly exhibits dysfunctional behavior which hampers her everyday functioning. Dysfunctional conduct distresses, confuses and sidetracks individuals such that their productivity and participation in normal social activities gets adversely affected and they are unable to adequately take care of themselves (Comer, 2013). This is evident in Joanna s sleep disturbances, chronic anxiety, joblessness, and negative impact on her health. Her conduct distresses her and is evidently deviant from normal behavior. Hence, it may be considered an abnormal occurrence which defies principles of normalcy. Our cultural and societal norms highlight the significance of effectively performing everyday activities. Obsessions such as those exhibited by Joanna aren t an ordinary component of and individual s behavior. Joanna s habits will probably be perceived as unwelcome and atypical. Her activities may be considered abnormal as they are consistent with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) symptoms, which involve repeated compulsions and obsessions capable of greatly interfering with a person s everyday activities. OCD symptoms generally have 4 key facets: obsessions linked to checking compulsions, obsessions with cleanliness linked to a compulsion to wash and clean constantly, hoarding related habits, and a need for order and symmetry.
