Hepatitis B And Its Effects
Hepatitis B is a genuine liver disease created by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). For some individuals,
hepatitis B contamination gets to be incessant, which means it keeps going over six months. Having
unending hepatitis B builds your danger of creating liver disappointment, liver disease or cirrhosis
which is a condition that causes lasting scarring of the liver. A great number of people contaminated
with hepatitis B as grown ups recuperate completely, regardless of the possibility that their signs and
side effects are extreme. Babies and youngsters will probably build up a ceaseless hepatitis B
contamination (MayoClinic).
Hepatitis C contamination additionally expands the danger of creating liver disease just like hepatitis
B. Until the 1980 s, hepatitis C virus (HCV) was known as non A non B hepatitis. The underlying
disease may have side effects, yet a critical number of individuals don t have side effects. Not at all
like hepatitis B, in which the ailment does not frequently get to be constant, have around 80% of
individuals with hepatitis C built up an endless disease. As the invulnerable framework keeps on
assaulting the infection after some time, fibrosis grows, in the end prompting cirrhosis. This unending
aggravation can likewise prompt liver growth. This infection is spread through tainted blood, for
example, with transfusions and IV drug misuse, however numerous individuals don t have evident
danger components for the sickness. It is currently suggested that

Sociological Perspectives Of Functionalism, Conflict...
Explain the three major sociological perspectives of functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic
interactionism. Identify which perspectives use a macro level or a micro level of analysis. Apply each
perspective to socialization.
Functionalism Macro Level This means that each person has a specific function and that each society
works together to achieve what is best. For example, my 2 boys attend a public school. The school is
funded by taxes I pay as well as neighbors who do not have any children attending school. Schooling
helps teach and socialize my children and will enable them to continue their education years later.
Conflict Theory Macro level This is built off of resources, status, and power that are not evenly

We decide how our peers come to a conclusion about us. For example, why do people I am intelligent
or why do people think that I am uneducated?
We take what people say about us to heart. Which in turn makes us question ourselves. For example, I
must be intelligent if others think so or I must be dumb if others think that I am uneducated.
Goofman s dramaturgical model of interaction is similar to Cooley s looking glass self in that we are
judged daily by our peers, that we care what others think of us and we try to modify ourselves so that
we are able to give a good impression and not a bad one. Impression management is 1 aspect of his
model. We try to give off a good impression to our peers. Basically, we are trying to show them our
best side. They are also similar as they both involve emotions
Goofmans dramaturgical model of interaction is different from Colleys looking glass self due to
Goffmans front and back stage. The front stage is where we are able to control what someone may see.
Whereas the back stage is where we are able to let our guard down. Cooley s concept is based on self
image where front stage and back stage is based on how we control that self image.
Identify and define the seven basic elements of nonmaterial culture.
Gestures are a way of communicating with others using our body. For example, we use our hands to
wave, which is another way of saying hello.
Language is the primary way of communicating with one

Fort Monroe Essay
Fort Monroe, Virginia, has been a major post of the U.S. Army for over 166 years. Fort Monroe is the
largest stone fortication in the United States, moated and covering sixty three acres and cost nearly
two million dollars. It was the crown jewel of America s defense and was built at a great expense
following the British invasion during the War of 1812 and named after President James Monroe. Fort
Monroe was a vital piece in America s defense and history. Fort Monroe also known as Freedom s
Fortress is located near Hampton, VA. Which was at that time a small pretty village on the water s
edge. In 1860 the town and surrounding county had about 3,100 whites, 2,400 enslaved persons, and
200 free persons of color. It was designed by Simon Bernard, it was at one time aide de camp to
Napoleon Bonaparte and was completed by 2nd Lt. Robert E. Lee from 1831 1834.This citadel was
erected at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay on a 565 acre peninsula that was carved by the James
river and York rivers known as Old Point Comfort. Within the moated walls of the fort, a large parade
ground is bordered by buildings and a striking collection of mature oak trees . One particular Tree at
Fort Monroe, known as the Algernourne Oak, is estimated to be nearly 500 years old. These trees are
witnesses to events that shaped both our nation and millions of individuals lives: Old Point Comfort

Cause And Effects Of The Vietnam War
Through the course of history the United States has landed the leading role within a quite a few
disputes and wars. From its acquisition of land on the North American content, to the countries
involvement within both World Wars, the actions of the United States military has etched sour
memories into many societies. The cause and affect of the actions carried out by United States military
have developed many misconceptions about The United States as a whole, and a strong level of
distrust within international societies. It is important to be aware of how The United States is
perceived amongst other nations. As a society that belongs to a very powerful nation, having a well

This cultivated several protests throughout the United States at the time, which called for the end of
the Vietnam War for a variety of reasons. The main reason being that there was no direct threat to the
United States for them to send troops, and invest money in this war. The second reason came after the
United States engaged in war, and the public was beginning to see images from Vietnam, followed by
reports of the civilian death tolls caused by the U.S. military. There were several accusations of war
crimes within the Vietnam War, and the U.S. military was being painted as the perpetrator. In the
document titled The Ethics of the Vietnam War it was stated that, the US Government directly violated
multiple principles of Just War theory during the Vietnam War (Ewing, 3). It turned into a domino
effect where soldiers were returning home and in turn suffering, many with traumatic experiences
disturbing their peace alongside other mental illnesses. This leads to the second question of ethics, the
help and treatment provided to soldiers upon returning home, or better yet the lack of help. The
psychological trauma endured by soldiers was at one point disregarded, and they were punished for it.
Due to the nature of the Vietnam War a lot of soldiers were developing PTSD, yet nothing was
necessarily being done about it. In Fields of Combat by Erin P. Finley, spoke about the negligence on
behalf of the military, government, and the American society as a whole by stating that, failure to
make place for PTSD would be equivalent to blaming the victim for his misfortunes... (Finley, 69).
The above mentioned situations could be seen as having violated a code of ethics or two. As history
tends to repeat itself, its very important that as a society, the

Class Based On Several Elements
Final Reflection Essay
I was in English 111 this semester and this is my self assessment on how I did in the class based on
several elements. I will base it off of the four P s: Participation, Performance, Progress, and Process. I
will go in to detail about how I performed in these areas over the semester. I will also reflect on one of
my Midterm skills and tell how I improved on it over the semester. I will then talk about my Overall
Skill Development throughout the semester. I feel overall I did decent in these areas considering I had
a lot of personal things going on in my life this semester.
The first P I will discuss is my participation in class. My attendance with this class was pretty fair. I
did have a few circumstances that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After those first couple of weeks though I came to class prepared every time that the class met. I did
very well in this area and rate myself a 9 because I had my books, binder, pens, and my assignments
completed that needed to be brought to class every time that the class met. I know I did not do good
with being prepared for some of my meeting but there were certain circumstances that kept me from
going and I could not make it. I hope to improve on my attendance and being prepared for meetings
with the teacher in my next English class. I will change this because I do not need to miss a lot of days
in class. I will also be more prepared for my meetings with my teacher because I need those
conferences so the teacher can help me out in the class. Overall I believe I did pretty fair with this area
in the class and will continue to improve on what needs to be improved next semester.
I will discuss my performance and progress based on two areas of writing in the class. The two areas I
will reflect on are my essay writing and following the MEAL plan in my writing. I believe that I
improved with my essays over the semester with this class. My first couple of essays were horrible,
but my last few essays turned out to be great because I finally got help and more feedback from
others. Here is a screenshot of my first rhetorical analysis essay. It was about if everyone should go to
college. I did a poor job on this because I just summarized what the author did. Now the

Importance Of Propaganda In Journalism
Propaganda Propaganda regards truth and reality. It is deceptive, purposely less than honest, biased,
devoid of a sense of fairness. It attempts to manipulate someone s ideas, actions and attitudes.
Propaganda can be used in journalism by manipulating the story to be exaggerated or simply false. A
journalist or public relations specialist could use a false or photo shopped image in a
newspaper/webpage to sway their audience into thinking the subject of their story is true and not to
their audiences knowledge it has been manipulated.
Semantics Semantics studies how words came to be and what they mean. In a journalistic setting when
covering a story, be sure of what you are actually portraying and what you re trying to say. There are
clear distinctions between what reporting, inferences, and judgements are.
Communitarianism Communitarianism has emphasis on society and the larger majority of a group. In
journalism or public relations and individual would look at what brings people together. For example
(fiction), covering a story about how MSU s Homecoming parade brought helping hands together as
participants prepared to rain proof their floats last minute, which made for a successful homecoming
parade. A non Communitarianism could have reported how the rain ruined the parade and many
townspeople were outraged by the cities/schools decision to cancel the parade.
Libertarianism Libertarianism has emphasis on the individual. In public relations, by having a

How Is Batman Changing
Have you ever had a TV show that you loved so much but it was ruined thanks to new versions of it?
Well Batman Begins by Christopher Nolan is the complete opposite of this. Christopher Nolan toke
the character of Batman and changed it to transform it into a new character by changing the story,
changing his character a bit and changing the characters that are in the story. Changing all of this made
the story fresh and alot more interesting.
In the original batman the story started in November 1939 s Detective #33 a mugger accosted Thomas
Wayne, his wife and son while they were walking home from a movie. He demands Mrs. Wayne s
necklace, Thomas intervenes and is shot; and when Mrs. Wayne calls for help, the mugger shoots her
too.

The way he is different is Batman seems to be more fearless in the comics because he openly went up
to the city officials and said none of you are safe. The only way the story is same is because the way
the past is shown is the same, how Batman calls the Bats and at the end it talks about the joker. There
are so many ways that they are different in because in the movie Batman fights Scarecrow, Ra s Al
Ghul, there is Rachel in the movies Lucius Fox is in the Movies shaping him, with the Scene of Bruce
s dad telling him why do we fall. it shows and it shows him training in Asia learning everything. In the
Comic it shows him fighting the swat team saving Gordons baby and Catwoman is only in the book
and later appears in the movies. The worlds are actually similar because there is a lot of crime and bad
things happening in Gotham and the only way I see how its different is that it doesnt have the rails

Discuss Bourdieu’s concept of ‘Habitus’
The essay will explore the concepts of Habitus and how it can form a personal taste. In order to
discover if taste can be considered to be truly personal, it is important to first investigate on the ideas
of consumer culture and how meaning can be created. There are a number of theorists that need to be
pointed out when talking about this subject matter, such as; Slater, Bourdieu, Lury and Miller. There
will also be a slight touch on the key aspects of semiotics and semiology as this tool will be used in
order to apply the main theories to practice. So as to carry this out, the theorist Barthes will be studied
as well. According to Slater (1997:26), consumer culture is, in principle, universal and impersonal .

However, people from the upper class will always stay where they are and will always be located in
the highest position of the hierarchy. Things usually start with the upper class and trickle down to the
common, lower classes in terms of movement and originality. This is the reason why people from the
working class, for instance chavs, tend to purchase products that are a replica of the original products
which initially belong to the upper class. Moving on, the theory of conspicuous consumption which
according to Bourdieu (1986:31) seeks distinction in the crude display of ill mastered luxury, is
nothing compared to the unique capacity of the pure gaze, a quasi creative power which sets the
aesthete apart from the common herd by a radical difference which seems to be inscribed in persons .
He explains that conspicuous consumption is when people buy things not for themselves, but for
others in the society in order to show it to them and what they think of it. This is to express that they
have the money and can afford to buy such items. People want to look different through their
appearance by the use of their luxury. It seems as if it has become significant to people that their
identity lies within the products that they can purchase. This notion of using consumption to portray
your identity within the class is also mentioned by Lury (1996:80) when she claims that lifestyle is
thus an instance of the tendency for groups of individuals to use

The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer wrote the Canterbury tales a collection of short tales in the 14th century. The
compilation of stories are told by different characters within the narrative as part of a game proposed
by the host. Each individual must tell two stories on their journey and two stories on their way back.
Each story tells some aspects of English life during the time and often added satire like qualities to the
English life. In particular Chaucer often tells stories with elements of the relationship between man
and women. He gives a clear representation of what the expected behaviors at the time are for men
and women. Men are the more dominant, they control more of the relationship and provide for their
wives, and the women are submissive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn t entirely uncommon for a women to remarry in the 14th century had her husband died. There
were other options for them as well like to join a nunnery or to not remarry at all. So the idea that the
wife of bath remarried multiple times isn t completely out there during this time period or even by
standards of modern day society.
The stigma faced in the prologue of the wife of bath story regarding marriage isn t a direct
commentary on any sort of gender role, however it does provide us with an idea of the double
standards that a women would face during this time. Some of that double standard existed well into
and still exist in the 21st century in many cultures and religions. In order to achieve the role reversal
like she had done our story teller of the wife of bath tale used a number of methods. She not only
nagged her way into getting what she wanted, but she also persuaded her husband s using certain
tricks. God has granted women three things by nature: lies, tears and spinning. (Chaucer The
Canterbury Tales, 160) The storyteller also says. I d always gain the upper hand by force of fraud.
(Chaucer The Canterbury Tales, 160) Both of these quotes demonstrate the tactics that she uses in
order to gain the upper hand over her husbands and get what she desires.

Essay on Strom Thurmond
Strom Thurmond
Strom Thurmond began his political career as a Democrat strongly opposed to civil rights laws, but
eventually he changed both his party and his ideology. Thurmond has been a strong influence on
Southern Politics since his days as the Edgefield County superintendent of education. He has had a
hand in most of the major events in the Southern political history of the 20th century.
Strom Thurmond s career has been a reflection of the events in southern politics in several ways: his
growing up in Edgefield South Carolina, his early politics on the matter of race, his sense of duty to
the armed forces, and his Gubernatorial campaign.

judgeship temporarily to serve in the U.S. Army. Even though at that time Judge Thurmond was
exempted from military service because of his position, he must of sensed that the people of Edgefield

Larv Parasitoids
Within the parasitic world, lies an abundant amount of organisms whose primary focus consist of
incubating itself within a host, sapping it of nutrients to further progress its own rate of growth. Unlike
many within this category, lies a special few who not only relies on its host to further help in the
breeding process, but also takes full control as well. These parasites are dubbed called Parasitoids or
often called either mind control bugs or zombie bugs for the sole purpose that it can inject its host with
a type of toxin, thus leaving them fully immobilized and leaving full control to the parasite that is
currently inhabiting it. The parasite will then begin to control things such as the host movement, and

As an example, parasites are able to flourish by absorbing the nutrients of the organism that it chooses
to inhabit. In doing so, the parasite can be seen as having a home which while it may cause some
damage to the host, ultimately makes sure or attempts to cause fatal harm to the host. This is because
it wants to be able to inhabit it for as long as possible. When looking at a predator/ prey relationship,
the predator would fundamentally find nourishment from many other organisms in its environment
and does not rely on one single host . The primary goal is to be able to gather as much energy as it
physically can so it can move on to its next prey. What makes parasitoids unique is that it takes
characteristics from both of these relationships in order to continue with its life cycle. An Adult
parasitoid would inject its young into that of other insects. Once the larvae is developed, It would then
carry on to feed from the inside of its host gathering nutrients until it reaches adulthood. Once done,
they will leave the host thus continuing on with the

Descriptive Essay On The Day In The House
November air wisped past my ivory skin as I strolled through the neighborhood. I stepped off of the
cracked sidewalk so I could turn on to the next street, but a seven foot tall metal pole with an octagon
challenged me at the sharp corner. The top of the vibrant red sign had an emerald rectangle attached to
it that read S BARWICK PL in white text with the same colored border. The word STOP that was
written in the middle of the geometric shape was meant for passing cars, felt like it was meant for me

or turn towards the dead end, my feet moved without my brain telling them to. In the opposite
direction of home, there was a strip of woods that was protected by a wall of briars.
With every soft step as I approached the leaf filled ditch, my low top Converse kissed the road s

Purpose Of Government In The United States
What is the purpose of government? Many of us wondered about this from the beginning of the year
and more importantly, as we walked into the government room. Now, as we round out the year, we
have learned all about government and what it s purpose truly is. We look back and view many of
those stating what they think the government is. That is when we have to figure out what they are
saying.
Thomas Jefferson was one of the many important presidents in our country. Jefferson states that The
purpose of government is to enable the people of a nation to live in safety and happiness. Government
exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors. As one of his most famous quotes, we
can see why it is so important. First of off, it is portrayed through the quote that the government is
supposed to be there for the people. It is not just there to strengthen the country, and leave the people

Odd Stories In The Bible
Throughout the Bible there are several stories that may seem odd and morally difficult to understand.
Although these stories appear to be much they all have a purpose and are trying to tell us something.
God works in mysterious ways, and these, odd, stories are where he began. These purposeful stories
consist of; Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac, Dinah s rape, and the Potiphar s wife sexually harassing
Joseph. Firstly, Abraham was promised by God that he was going to bless his family and make great
nations out of his descendants (Gen. 12:1 3). God first told Abraham this when he was commanded by
God to leave all that he knew to go live in an unknown land. Then, because Abraham trusted God and
followed his command he was enlightened in the fact that God was going to bless him with as many
descendants as there were stars (Gen. 15:5 6). Although, Abraham had no children at the time he
trusted God. But his wife, Sarah, had little faith, so she told Abraham to lay with her servant, Hagar,
so that he may have a child to inherit his land. Ishmael is born to Abraham from Hagar, but that wasn t
Gods plan, and it didn t end up making Sarah happy. Therefore, God reminded Abraham that he will

African American Theater Essays
Over the course of approximately one hundred years there has been a discernible metamorphosis
within the realm of African American cinema. African Americans have overcome the heavy weight of
oppression in forms such as of politics, citizenship and most importantly equal human rights. One of
the most evident forms that were withheld from African Americans came in the structure of the
performing arts; specifically film. The common population did not allow blacks to drink from the
same water fountain let alone share the same television waves or stage. But over time the strength of
the expectant black actors and actresses overwhelmed the majority force to stop blacks from appearing
on film. For the longest time the performing arts were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
‘The Tom represented the African American who was badgered and controlled by the white
population. This person was the one who endured all of the abuse from any white person who was in
the position of superiority. Bogle defines him as, the harassed hounded, flogged, enslaved, and
insulted. They keep the faith, and stay true to their masters always remaining kind and selfless. Thus
they endear themselves to white audiences and emerge as heroes of sorts (6). One of the most
prevalent plays where this type of black characters emerged was given the name, Uncle Tom s Cabin.
This theatrical production came about during the 1850 s. It gave an overview of Harriet Beecher
Stowe s (a white women who was against slavery) claim that white Americans imagine themselves as
suffering slaves. In this production whites in blackface played Tom, Eliza, and Topsy . This
construction was very controversial; Michael Rogin gives a brief summary and comment on this in his
book, Blackface, Whitenoise:
The production of Uncle Tom s Cabin was not only embracing slaves but also supporting antislavery
politics. There was considerable overlap, to be sure, between the proslavery and sentimental
abolitionist structures of feeling, for maternalist

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Of An Age, But For All Time
Ben Jonson wrote Shakespeare was not of an age, but for all time, representing how 21st century ideas
and themes can be connected back to the time when 1 Henry IV was written. One contemporary issue
displayed in the play is a phenomenon known as helicopter parenting. According to Webster s
Dictionary, a helicopter parent is when a parent is very involved in a child s life. Parents will often put
expectations on their children to achieve certain dreams parents have of their kids. Thus, putting a
tremendous amount of anxiety and stress on their children. This idea is demonstrated throughout the
play between King Henry and Prince Hal. King Henry expects his son to act a certain way, to take his
role in the kingdom seriously and be focused on the kingdom and the duties he serves to the kingdom.
Looking at two examples from the text, one can identify the transformation of the test to 21st century
problem of parents pressuring kids to attend college or act a certain way. Throughout the play King
Henry would like his son, Prince Hal, to act a certain way. The King wants Prince Hal to act royal and
responsible, like Hotspur. Instead, Prince Hal decides to act out and represent immature behavior with
his sidekick Falstaff. King Henry states, See riot and dishonor stain the brow of my young Harry. O,
that it could be proved that some night tripping fairy had exchanged in cradle clothes our children
where they lay, and called mine Percy, his Plantagenet! (I, I, 87 89). The King

Pseudonymity In The Book Of Daniel
Pseudonymity is the method of producing new compositions in the name of a famous deceased author
(Harris, 2014, p.2). This particular method was well known in the Hellenistic Jewish community and
among early Christian writers. Specifically, during 200 BCE to 200 CE, the Jewish writers produced
numerous books that were accredited to respected biblical figures that included Daniel, Enoch, Noah,
Solomon, and a host of others (Harris, 2014, p.387). Interestingly, some of the books such as Book of
Daniel were received into the Hebrew Bible canon, while others such as Enoch were not. Also, other
writings that included the Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and the apocalyptic 2 Esdras, were considered
as deuterocanonical, a representation of the Old Testament s

The Effect Of Osmosis On Potato Cells
BIOL 1208 Writing Assignment 2

These are to be written individually even if you worked in a group. This should be written in
paragraph format. Each section should include the answers to the following questions
Lab Topic: Effects of Osmosis with Potato Cells in Sucrose Solution
Introduction:
Small slices of potato are placed in six concentrations of sucrose: 0.0 M, 0.1 M, 0.2 M, 0.3 M, 0.4 M,
and 0.5 M. The initial mass of potato is noted before being placed in the solution. The potato remained
in the solution for one hour then the potato was removed from the solution and dried off before the
final mass was noted. The null hypothesis is that the solutions of different molarities of sucrose will
not affect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the hour was over, the potato slices were removed from the solution, dried off in a paper towel,
and weighed once again. In the 0.0, 0.1, and 0.2 M of sucrose concentrations the final mass of the
potato increased. Therefore H2O enters the potato cell because the solution is hypotonic. In the 0.3,
0.4, and 0.5 M of sucrose concentration the final mass of potato decreases. The solution is hypertonic
which causes H2O to exit the potato cells through the semipermeable phospholipid bilayer. The results
prove that the different molarities of concentration affect the mass of the potato in different ways; the
mass of potato either increased or decreased depending on the molarity of sucrose concentration.
Caption: The line of best fit shows the pattern that as molarity increases in the sucrose concentration
then the percent change in mass of potato decreases.
Discussion:
Determining the Osmotic Concentration of Potato Tuber Cells When Placed in Sucrose Solutions
In this experiment, the osmotic concentration is found with potato slices placed in sucrose solutions.
Osmosis in this model is the net movement of water between the potato cell and the sucrose solution.
The movement of water is determined by the molarity of sucrose. As the molarity of sucrose increased
then the concentration in the solution also increased. H2O will move through the cell membrane to
areas of higher concentration in order to reach equilibrium. If cells are placed

Printing Organs And The Human Body
Printing organs has been talked about and attempted to be used for close to 40 years. Printing organs
can help with advancements in many ways because it could help many of the people that are on the
Organ Transplanting List, not to mention it could save countless lives as well. If organs are able to be
printed and executed for procedures and transplants, then we could reduce hospital bills that increase
during the time that you are waiting for an organ. Therefore, making a large advancement in the
healthcare field. Organ printing can be very difficult and must be executed very carefully considering
that the body may reject the new organ. Three dimensional (3D) printing is a manufacturing method in
which objects are made by fusing or depositing materials such as plastic, metal, ceramics, powders,
liquids, or even living cells in layers to produce a 3D object (Ventola, October 2014). It is incredible to
see how such materials can be used to be put together to make a living organism that can be used in a
human s body. As a person ages this could be very useful because organs tend to fail and become weak
when a person gets older they could potentially be used to replace the failing organs. There are many
different types of 3D printing and they do all come with some positives but at the same time they
come with some negatives as well. There is selective laser printing, an SLS printer uses powdered
material as the substrate for printing new objects. A laser draws the shape of

person who exemplifies good leadership; protects one s nation, is a strong speaker and communicator,

when a civilization has reached a period of peace, unity, prosperity, and achievements. In the year
1762, Catherine was crowned Empress of Russia. Catherine s motive of ruling Russia, was to make it
a powerful union by spreading and expanding education, and making a national culture. Despite many
failures such as not improving the lives of serfs, who were the majority of the Russian population and
it has been said by many that she ruled through dishonesty and scandal, Catherine the Great was
ultimately a successful leader of Russia. Due to the wonderful accomplishments she made and all of
the admiration she received from the people, therefore earned the powerful title of Catherine the Great

just our skills and knowledge of the sport. Tuck also knows each of the team members very well
individually, which allows him to pick the best team pairings and also teach us based on our individual
personalities, goals, and weaknesses. He wants each one of us to succeed more than anyone I know,
and is willing to do everything he possibly can in order to help us on our own personal paths to
success in sailing, academics, or more. I have no doubt that Tuck knows each of his students just as
well in the classroom as he does on our team, allowing him to interact with both his students and us
much more easily than other teachers. His ability to unite all of the team members enables our success
overall to have reached our current achievements and hopefully even more in the future.

Reconstruction Of African American During Reconstruction
History helps shape the future and what we can learn from it to make sure that we do not repeat the

The country needed to find a way to mend a broken nation because it was divided. The main issue
during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but
could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of
African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped African
Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education for the freed
African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used their authority
over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to
make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education
while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s Bureau, missionary
associations, and African Americans themselves funded the schools; many of the mostly white, female
teachers came from the south with the missionary associations. The Bureau wanted this to be
successful and with the help of the missionary associations and the African Americas to fund the
schools, it would make it a reality. The Freedman s Bureau did everything that they could to make sure

almost every day. Whether it was something as small as praying or as large as blowing up a supply

when you double your speed, you re doubling the kinetic energy of your vehicle up to four times. The

The larger the vehicle, the larger the mass. The smaller the vehicle, the less the mass. Assuming that
both vehicles are going the same speed, the small vehicle will take less stopping distance compared to

A driver can best prepare entering sharp curves in the roadway by gradually decelerating to a safe
speed before entering the curve. If you enter a curve with high speed or brake suddenly, you risk the
chance of losing control of your vehicle. If you find yourself entering a sharp curve too fast, brake
gently. Bicyclists and motorcyclists have to lean toward the inside to keep balance when rounding a

The fatality of a car crash depends on a certain number of things. First, is the driver and/or passengers

minor injuries than someone who isn t. Second, the force of impact between two objects. The faster
you drive, the greater the striking power of your vehicle, the worse the damage in a collision. Third,
the mass of the vehicle. The vehicle with the less mass will take the greater impact. Larger vehicles

Negative Effects Of Birth Order
The Effects Of Birth Order
What would people think if a complete stranger could tell personality traits of someone only knowing
the order of their birth? Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family: birth order is
often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development (Wikipedia). Birth
order has great effects on children, and it is seen especially in firstborn, middle born, and last born
children. It is an interesting concept that will be explored in more depth in this paper. First, consider
some of the characteristics seen in firstborn children. Some of the traits seen in first born children
include: perfectionist, reliable, list maker, well organized, critical, serious, scholarly, seek approval,
conservative, and law abiding (Lehnardt). They are also typically bad at delegating. Researchers
suggest that firstborn are more highly motivated than other or later born children (Lehnardt).
Firstborns are also more likely to seek help and are self critical. Firstborns are more likely to make at
least $100,000 more annually than their siblings (Lehnardt). Researchers say firstborn are generally
higher motivated than others. In addition, firstborns tend to score higher on IQ tests and typically get
more education than their brothers and sisters (Lehnardt). However, in life, there are exceptions to
these characteristics and features seen in children born first. For example, younger siblings tend to
take on a firstborn role if an

Inhalation: Initial symptoms may resemble a common cold. After several days, the symptoms may
progress to severe breathing problems and shock. Inhalation anthrax usually results in death in 1 2
days after onset of the acute symptoms.
Intestinal: The intestinal disease form of anthrax may follow ingestion of contaminated meat and is
characterized by an acute inflammation of the intestinal tract. Nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting and
fever are followed by abdominal pain, vomiting of blood, and severe diarrhea. Intestinal anthrax
results in death in 25% to 60% of cases. The incubation period is usually within seven days. There are
no reports of the disease spreading from human to human. Direct person to person spread of anthrax
most likely does not occur. Once a person has been infected with anthrax and survived, a second bout
with this disease is unlikely.
To treat anthrax, doctors can prescribe antibiotics. Usually penicillin based antibiotics such as Cipro
are preferred, but erythromycin, tetracycline, or chloramphenicol can also be used. To be effective,
treatment should be initiated early. The disease could be fatal if left untreated. (Sofaer, et al, 1999)

She was also inspired by her older brother Ron as he played ice hockey. After Michelle started taking
lessons with her sister, Karen, she advanced very quickly, allowing her to participate in competitions.

Reflection About The Taz Prayer
At the Taizé prayer, the place with the altar and candles was inviting; first the silence for about 10
minutes, then the music played, followed by long pauses for praying and reading the scriptures
together. The prayer around the Jesus cross statue in the center was about to begin when a person
placed the cross on the ground and next to the cross a pillow for people to kneel and express their
burdens. After about ten minutes, the prayer around the cross continued, but this time the cross statue
was moved to a table. People freely approached the cross statue at the table and placed their heads on
it or kissed the cross. After a few more prayers were said aloud, then the altogether final prayer
followed by a song was the end of the prayer. From this opportunity of praying in a group, I learned
about the gifts and challenges of prayer while reflecting in silence and listening to the meditative
music.
The Taizé prayer is an opportunity to reflect on your day or your life and pray with others together.
This was my first time in a Taizé prayer, I have never heard about it before this class. The prayer is
centered on a worship group that between silence, songs, prayers, and bible readings, people stand up
to acknowledge the cross statue in the center by kneeling in front or kissing the statue. You are not
alone, you spend the hour with people of different churches or religious beliefs either in silence,
singing, praying and worshipping.
During the prayer, I learned that the peace

Joker Antisocial Personality Disorder
Through these symptoms described, the Joker appears to have an Antisocial Personality Disorder
along with schizophrenia. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual states that the criteria for APD are
exhibiting at least 3 of the following traits: an inability to follow the social normality s, when it comes
to the law especially if said acts lean toward reasons for arrest. When being deceitful i.e.; lying,
conning others, using a name rather than your own. Another trait is to be impulsive (Tang, Jiang, Liao,
Wang, Luo, 2013). The Joker tends to be impulsive when he does large scale jobs. For example, in
The Dark Knight he blew up the hospital without any sort of real escape plan, he knew he d escape but
he didn t have any sort of real plan. Aggressiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Joker has no care whether or not he committed a crime, in fact that s his literal motif. He only
cares about what he does, not who or what it affects. APD is diagnosed to those who contravene the
rights of others without feeling bad or guilty. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Those with
Antisocial Personality Disorder are likely to be persistent criminals and take part in actions which
would be grounds for criminal arrest and hurt others in ways that are often considered unethical as
well as in violation of societies normalcy s. Those with APD are often considered to be antisocial. The
term antisocial is often confused to mean not with society as dictated by slang. Most of the public
confuses the term antisocial by pairing it with the meaning to be alone with one s self and away from
others. The actual, correct usage of the word antisocial is to be literally against society; against the
everyday rules that most people follow in order to be part of a society. While the intelligence of
antisocial people is obviously well appropriated, they tend to have the ability to quickly analyze others
and in doing so can realize what they desire and use that knowledge to manipulate said person.

Peter Tchaikovsky Research Paper
Peter Tchaikovsky
Peter Tchaikovsky was a famous Composer from the 19th Century. He is known as the most famous
Russian composer in history ( Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Biography ). Some historians think that he
was Russia s first truly professional composer ( Tchaikovsky Music s Famous ). His music was
performed during the late 1800s. He created many musical works throughout this time as a composer
and many of these works are still listened to today.
Peter Tchaikovsky was born May 7, 1840 in Votkinsk, Russia. His family was in the upper middle
class. He was the second eldest of six children. His father, Ilya, was a mine inspector and metal works
manager. At age four he made his first recorded attempt at composition, a song written with his ...

Slave Rebellions
Slave owners had the right to beat, whip, brand, or imprison slaves for petty offenses or for attempted
escape. Owners vied with each other in creating imaginative punishments, as historian Kenneth M.
Stampp relates: A Maryland tobacco grower forced a hand [slave] to eat the worms he failed to pick
off tobacco leaves. A Mississippian gave a runaway a wretched time by requiring him to sit at the table
and eat his evening meal with the white family. A Louisiana planter humiliated disobedient male field
hands by giving them women s work such as washing clothes, by dressing them in women s clothing,
and by exhibiting them on a scaffold wearing a red flannel cap (Streissguth 13). How did slaves react
to the cruel treatment of slave owners? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Current State of the Republican Party
It was a commonly held belief among the Republican party that Mitt Romney was almost a guaranteed
win in the 2012 presidential election. This view wasn t necessarily because Romney followed
Republican policy to a T but rather because of Obama s disastrous job with the economy in the
previous four years. History was well in the minds of most Republicans in that particular matter since
no president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt had ever won a presidency after the economy had gone
as low as it did and was in a serious struggle to rebound. With this piece of history in the minds of
most Republicans the assumptions was history would continue to repeat itself even if Romeny wasn t

The first such way is in social issues. The traditionally narrow minded view on most social issues has
almost all but gone away and the open mindedness of the american people is more apparent. One of
these issues is gay marriage and the acceptance it has been met by. We see this with certain states that
have already legalized it and in more and more states contemplating proposing gay marriage and
placing it on the ballot. According to a ABC News poll, conservative support for gay marriage has
gone from 10 percent support in 2004 to 19 percent in 2006 and 30 percent currently (Abramowitz).
Another important issue is abortions and the womens right to choose. This has always been an issues
of friction in america but abortion has become more open and a more commonly used option among
women. For women who do not necessarily agree with the practice of abortion they still share the idea
that women should have the right to choose and make decisions that are inherently theirs because it is
their body. Womens rights have always been a debated subject in american and it has only expanded
over the years. Telling women they have no say in their body and their future in the way of having
children is taking a drastic step backwards from the forward moving expansion of rights. Republicans
failed to budge on their view on womens right to choose while the Democrats made it clear they
supported the right to choose. According to exit polls 53 percent of the voters in the 2012 elections

Cappuccino In San Francisco
To determine just how expensive a cappuccino was in San Francisco, I sampled cappuccino prices at
36 coffee shops scattered across San Francisco. The sample mean price of a cappuccino is $3.54 (x̅ )
with a sample standard deviation, or a standard error, of $0.55 (s). The prices ranged from $2.50 to
$4.40. To construct a 99% confidence interval for this sample, I multiplied the standard error by the z
statistic corresponding with 99%, 2.576, and added/subtracted that value from the point estimate,
$3.54. The resultant confidence interval was [$2.13, $4.96]. In other words, if I continued sampling
cappuccino coffee prices and creating unique samples of sufficient size, both including and not
including the coffee shops already sampled, 99% of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is possible, albeit unlikely, that the prices shown on these cafe s websites is different from the prices
they actually sell cappuccinos at. I also failed to correct for inconsistencies in cappuccino prices.
Cappuccino sizes are not standardized, so I tried to pick the smallest size whenever possible, which
varied from Small at most cafes to Tall at Starbucks to 12 oz at other institutions. In order to provide a
basis for equal comparison, I should have ensured that the cappuccinos in the population had the same
price in liquid ounces. Additionally, some coffee shops such as Starbucks include tax in the prices
listed on their menus, whereas others do not. The combined effect of the methodological problems and
sampling biases leads me to conclude that my sample is most likely biased. Since confidence intervals
are usually centered around sample means, which are supposed to be equal to the population means,
there is evidence to believe that the constructed confidence interval contains the population mean
despite the fact that it is most likely biased. First of all, the coffee shops I sampled are quite
representative of San Francisco coffee shops by general price. Most of the coffee shops sampled were
within the inexpensive to moderate price range as described by Yelp, which is quite representative of
coffee shop prices in San

Investigating The Relationship Between Motor Neurons And...
The purpose of this lab is to evaluate the relationship between motor neurons and their associated
muscle s electrical activity via neuromuscular junctions through: determining the correlation between
EMG (electromyogram) activity and muscle force, observing muscle fatigue, as well as calculating the
conduction velocity associated with the Achilles tendon reflex arc. An additional purpose of this lab is
to demonstrate the effects of arm circumference and relative dominance on muscle fatigue.
Hypothesis In the first experiment, as muscle force increases as induced by the subject, it is expected
that the EMG activity will elevate likewise due to the directly proportional relationship between
contraction strength and the muscle s amount of electrical impulses. Additionally, it is expected that
resistance to fatigue will increase with greater forearm circumference due to the greater amount of
fatigue resistant slow oxidative fibers. In the third section of this lab, it is anticipated that as path
length of a particular reflex arc (in this case, the Achilles tendon reflex) increases, the overall
conduction velocity will decrease due to the increased reflex time necessary for the impulse to be
conducted up and down longer neurons.
Background For all aspects of this lab to be properly understood, the following principles and
associated information of the following must be known: the relationship between nerves and their
associated muscle(s), how electrical activity is

The Mountains is a play about a young man that returns home from the city to help his father in his
work as a home doctor. The play opens with the young man by the name of Richard, or as his sister
Laura calls him Dick. The two have a long conversation trying to catch up with one another after Dick
has been gone to school for the past eight years (Wolfe 57). At one point the two go to talk about how
the mountains kill the folk around them. How the mountains kill the folks around them is what pushes
the play to climax later. After Dick and Laura s conversation the man of the evening Dr. Weaver enters
to warm greetings. With these warm greetings also comes a sense of urgency from Dick and Laura to
have Dick take over Dr. Weaver s position as

World War I Was The First Major War
World War I was the first major war where technology was relied on more than the troops themselves.
After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most major countries started to create new
technologies that in the end would pave the way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the
most used everyday things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific
scenarios along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common civilian or
household items, these could only result in better use in war. These machines of war are so vast and
expansive in type, but they are all technologies that would have needed to have been used to bring the
war to a close. Not only were machines a large part but so was Scientific technologies, and
innovations that saved or took the lives of many. In many European countries two major types of
transportation reigned over the newer types, these being ships and trains. Both were used extensively
and the usage of them would carry into World War I, changing tactics armies took and the speed of
their movement as well as their survival. Ships were used mainly for larger distances ( ie: America to
Europe ) where Trains were only able to carry smaller things along the front or from certain Capitals
to the front itself. The usage of the trains allowed for the movement of shells that were continually
made in factories on the home front, the shells could be run along from the Factories to the shelling

Functionalism Macro Level This means that each person has a specific function and that each society works together to achieve what is best. For example, my 2 boys attend a public school. The school is funded by taxes I pay as well as neighbors who do not have any children attending school. Schooling helps teach and socialize my children and will enable them to continue their education years later. We decide how our peers come to a conclusion about us. For example, why do people I am intelligent or why do people think that I am uneducated? We take what people say about us to heart. Which in turn makes us question ourselves. For example, I must be intelligent if others think so or I must be dumb if others think that I am uneducated. Goofman s dramaturgical model of interaction is similar to Cooley s looking glass self in that we are judged daily by our peers, that we care what others think of us and we try to modify ourselves so that we are able to give a good impression and not a bad one. Impression management is 1 aspect of his model. We try to give off a good impression to our peers. Basically, we are trying to show them our best side. The front stage is where we are able to control what someone may see. Whereas the back stage is where we are able to let our guard down. This cultivated several protests throughout the United States at the time, which called for the end of the Vietnam War for a variety of reasons. The main reason being that there was no direct threat to the United States for them to send troops, and invest money in this war. The second reason came after the United States engaged in war, and the public was beginning to see images from Vietnam, followed by reports of the civilian death tolls caused by the U.S. military. There were several accusations of war crimes within the Vietnam War, and the U.S. military was being painted as the perpetrator. In the document titled The Ethics of the Vietnam War it was stated that, the US Government directly violated multiple principles of Just War theory during the Vietnam War (Ewing, 3). It turned into a domino effect where soldiers were returning home and in turn suffering, many with traumatic experiences disturbing their peace alongside other mental illnesses. This leads to the second question of ethics, the help and treatment provided to soldiers upon returning home, or better yet the lack of help. The psychological trauma endured by soldiers was at one point disregarded, and they were punished for it. Due to the nature of the Vietnam War a lot of soldiers were developing PTSD, yet nothing was necessarily being done about it. In Fields of Combat by Erin P. Finley, spoke about the negligence on behalf of the military, government, and the American society as a whole by stating that, failure to make place for PTSD would be equivalent to blaming the victim for his misfortunes... • 7. Importance Of Propaganda In Journalism Propaganda Propaganda regards truth and reality. It is deceptive, purposely less than honest, biased, devoid of a sense of fairness. It attempts to manipulate someone s ideas, actions and attitudes. Propaganda can be used in journalism by manipulating the story to be exaggerated or simply false. A journalist or public relations specialist could use a false or photo shopped image in a newspaper/webpage to sway their audience into thinking the subject of their story is true and not to their audiences knowledge it has been manipulated. Semantics Semantics studies how words came to be and what they mean. In a journalistic setting when covering a story, be sure of what you are actually portraying and what you re trying to say. There are clear distinctions between what reporting, inferences, and judgements are. Communitarianism Communitarianism has emphasis on society and the larger majority of a group. In journalism or public relations and individual would look at what brings people together. For example (fiction), covering a story about how MSU s Homecoming parade brought helping hands together as participants prepared to rain proof their floats last minute, which made for a successful homecoming parade. Moving on, the theory of conspicuous consumption which according to Bourdieu (1986:31) seeks distinction in the crude display of ill mastered luxury, is nothing compared to the unique capacity of the pure gaze, a quasi creative power which sets the aesthete apart from the common herd by a radical difference which seems to be inscribed in persons . He explains that conspicuous consumption is when people buy things not for themselves, but for others in the society in order to show it to them and what they think of it. This is to express that they have the money and can afford to buy such items. People want to look different through their appearance by the use of their luxury. These purposeful stories consist of; Abraham almost sacrificing Isaac, Dinah s rape, and the Potiphar s wife sexually harassing Joseph. Firstly, Abraham was promised by God that he was going to bless his family and make great nations out of his descendants (Gen. 12:1 3). God first told Abraham this when he was commanded by God to leave all that he knew to go live in an unknown land. Then, because Abraham trusted God and followed his command he was enlightened in the fact that God was going to bless him with as many descendants as there were stars (Gen. 15:5 6). Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Of An Age, But For All Time Ben Jonson wrote Shakespeare was not of an age, but for all time, representing how 21st century ideas and themes can be connected back to the time when 1 Henry IV was written. One contemporary issue displayed in the play is a phenomenon known as helicopter parenting. According to Webster s Dictionary, a helicopter parent is when a parent is very involved in a child s life. Parents will often put expectations on their children to achieve certain dreams parents have of their kids. Thus, putting a tremendous amount of anxiety and stress on their children. This idea is demonstrated throughout the play between King Henry and Prince Hal. King Henry expects his son to act a certain way, to take his role in the kingdom seriously and be focused on the kingdom and the duties he serves to the kingdom. Looking at two examples from the text, one can identify the transformation of the test to 21st century problem of parents pressuring kids to attend college or act a certain way. Throughout the play King Henry would like his son, Prince Hal, to act a certain way. The King wants Prince Hal to act royal and responsible, like Hotspur. This particular method was well known in the Hellenistic Jewish community and among early Christian writers. Specifically, during 200 BCE to 200 CE, the Jewish writers produced numerous books that were accredited to respected biblical figures that included Daniel, Enoch, Noah, Solomon, and a host of others (Harris, 2014, p.387). Interestingly, some of the books such as Book of Daniel were received into the Hebrew Bible canon, while others such as Enoch were not. Also, other writings that included the Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and the apocalyptic 2 Esdras, were considered as deuterocanonical, a representation of the Old Testament s ... This should be written in paragraph format. Each section should include the answers to the following questions Lab Topic: Effects of Osmosis with Potato Cells in Sucrose Solution Introduction: Small slices of potato are placed in six concentrations of sucrose: 0.0 M, 0.1 M, 0.2 M, 0.3 M, 0.4 M, and 0.5 M. The initial mass of potato is noted before being placed in the solution. The potato remained in the solution for one hour then the potato was removed from the solution and dried off before the final mass was noted. The null hypothesis is that the solutions of different molarities of sucrose will not affect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the hour was over, the potato slices were removed from the solution, dried off in a paper towel, and weighed once again. In the 0.0, 0.1, and 0.2 M of sucrose concentrations the final mass of the potato increased. Therefore H2O enters the potato cell because the solution is hypotonic. In the 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 M of sucrose concentration the final mass of potato decreases. The solution is hypertonic which causes H2O to exit the potato cells through the semipermeable phospholipid bilayer. The results prove that the different molarities of concentration affect the mass of the potato in different ways; the mass of potato either increased or decreased depending on the molarity of sucrose concentration. Caption: The line of best fit shows the pattern that as molarity increases in the sucrose concentration then the percent change in mass of potato decreases. Discussion: Determining the Osmotic Concentration of Potato Tuber Cells When Placed in Sucrose Solutions In this experiment, the osmotic concentration is found with potato slices placed in sucrose solutions. Osmosis in this model is the net movement of water between the potato cell and the sucrose solution. The movement of water is determined by the molarity of sucrose. As the molarity of sucrose increased then the concentration in the solution also increased. H2O will move through the cell membrane to areas of higher concentration in order to reach equilibrium. Printing organs can help with advancements in many ways because it could help many of the people that are on the Organ Transplanting List, not to mention it could save countless lives as well. If organs are able to be printed and executed for procedures and transplants, then we could reduce hospital bills that increase during the time that you are waiting for an organ. Therefore, making a large advancement in the healthcare field. Organ printing can be very difficult and must be executed very carefully considering that the body may reject the new organ. Three dimensional (3D) printing is a manufacturing method in which objects are made by fusing or depositing materials such as plastic, metal, ceramics, powders, liquids, or even living cells in layers to produce a 3D object (Ventola, October 2014). It is incredible to see how such materials can be used to be put together to make a living organism that can be used in a human s body. As a person ages this could be very useful because organs tend to fail and become weak when a person gets older they could potentially be used to replace the failing organs. There are many different types of 3D printing and they do all come with some positives but at the same time they come with some negatives as well. During Reconstruction, the country was trying to make amends after the war was over. The country needed to find a way to mend a broken nation because it was divided. The main issue during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped African Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education for the freed African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used their authority over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s Bureau, missionary associations, and African Americans themselves funded the schools; many of the mostly white, female teachers came from the south with the missionary associations. Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family: birth order is often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development (Wikipedia). Birth order has great effects on children, and it is seen especially in firstborn, middle born, and last born children. It is an interesting concept that will be explored in more depth in this paper. First, consider some of the characteristics seen in firstborn children. Some of the traits seen in first born children include: perfectionist, reliable, list maker, well organized, critical, serious, scholarly, seek approval, conservative, and law abiding (Lehnardt). They are also typically bad at delegating. Researchers suggest that firstborn are more highly motivated than other or later born children (Lehnardt). Firstborns are also more likely to seek help and are self critical. Firstborns are more likely to make at least $100,000 more annually than their siblings (Lehnardt). Researchers say firstborn are generally higher motivated than others. In addition, firstborns tend to score higher on IQ tests and typically get more education than their brothers and sisters (Lehnardt). While the intelligence of antisocial people is obviously well appropriated, they tend to have the ability to quickly analyze others and in doing so can realize what they desire and use that knowledge to manipulate said person. ... • 44. Slave Rebellions Slave owners had the right to beat, whip, brand, or imprison slaves for petty offenses or for attempted escape. Owners vied with each other in creating imaginative punishments, as historian Kenneth M. Stampp relates: A Maryland tobacco grower forced a hand [slave] to eat the worms he failed to pick off tobacco leaves. A Mississippian gave a runaway a wretched time by requiring him to sit at the table and eat his evening meal with the white family. A Louisiana planter humiliated disobedient male field hands by giving them women s work such as washing clothes, by dressing them in women s clothing, and by exhibiting them on a scaffold wearing a red flannel cap (Streissguth 13). • 45. Essay on Current State of the Republican Party It was a commonly held belief among the Republican party that Mitt Romney was almost a guaranteed win in the 2012 presidential election. This view wasn t necessarily because Romney followed Republican policy to a T but rather because of Obama s disastrous job with the economy in the previous four years. History was well in the minds of most Republicans in that particular matter since no president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt had ever won a presidency after the economy had gone as low as it did and was in a serious struggle to rebound. With this piece of history in the minds of most Republicans the assumptions was history would continue to repeat itself even if Romeny wasn t the Republican parties knight in shinning armor. The election ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first such way is in social issues. The traditionally narrow minded view on most social issues has almost all but gone away and the open mindedness of the american people is more apparent. One of these issues is gay marriage and the acceptance it has been met by. We see this with certain states that have already legalized it and in more and more states contemplating proposing gay marriage and placing it on the ballot. According to a ABC News poll, conservative support for gay marriage has gone from 10 percent support in 2004 to 19 percent in 2006 and 30 percent currently (Abramowitz). Another important issue is abortions and the womens right to choose. This has always been an issues of friction in america but abortion has become more open and a more commonly used option among women. For women who do not necessarily agree with the practice of abortion they still share the idea that women should have the right to choose and make decisions that are inherently theirs because it is their body. Womens rights have always been a debated subject in american and it has only expanded over the years. Telling women they have no say in their body and their future in the way of having children is taking a drastic step backwards from the forward moving expansion of rights. Republicans failed to budge on their view on womens right to choose while the Democrats made it clear they supported the right to choose. • 46. Cappuccino In San Francisco To determine just how expensive a cappuccino was in San Francisco, I sampled cappuccino prices at 36 coffee shops scattered across San Francisco. The sample mean price of a cappuccino is $3.54 (x̅ ) with a sample standard deviation, or a standard error, of $0.55 (s). The prices ranged from $2.50 to $4.40. To construct a 99% confidence interval for this sample, I multiplied the standard error by the z statistic corresponding with 99%, 2.576, and added/subtracted that value from the point estimate, $3.54. The resultant confidence interval was [$2.13, $4.96]. In other words, if I continued sampling cappuccino coffee prices and creating unique samples of sufficient size, both including and not including the coffee shops already sampled, 99% of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is possible, albeit unlikely, that the prices shown on these cafe s websites is different from the prices they actually sell cappuccinos at. I also failed to correct for inconsistencies in cappuccino prices. Cappuccino sizes are not standardized, so I tried to pick the smallest size whenever possible, which varied from Small at most cafes to Tall at Starbucks to 12 oz at other institutions. In order to provide a basis for equal comparison, I should have ensured that the cappuccinos in the population had the same price in liquid ounces. Additionally, some coffee shops such as Starbucks include tax in the prices listed on their menus, whereas others do not. The combined effect of the methodological problems and sampling biases leads me to conclude that my sample is most likely biased. Since confidence intervals are usually centered around sample means, which are supposed to be equal to the population means, there is evidence to believe that the constructed confidence interval contains the population mean despite the fact that it is most likely biased. First of all, the coffee shops I sampled are quite representative of San Francisco coffee shops by general price. Most of the coffee shops sampled were within the inexpensive to moderate price range as described by Yelp, which is quite representative of coffee shop prices in San ... • 47. Investigating The Relationship Between Motor Neurons And... The purpose of this lab is to evaluate the relationship between motor neurons and their associated muscle s electrical activity via neuromuscular junctions through: determining the correlation between EMG (electromyogram) activity and muscle force, observing muscle fatigue, as well as calculating the conduction velocity associated with the Achilles tendon reflex arc. An additional purpose of this lab is to demonstrate the effects of arm circumference and relative dominance on muscle fatigue. Hypothesis In the first experiment, as muscle force increases as induced by the subject, it is expected that the EMG activity will elevate likewise due to the directly proportional relationship between contraction strength and the muscle s amount of electrical impulses. Additionally, it is expected that resistance to fatigue will increase with greater forearm circumference due to the greater amount of fatigue resistant slow oxidative fibers. In the third section of this lab, it is anticipated that as path length of a particular reflex arc (in this case, the Achilles tendon reflex) increases, the overall conduction velocity will decrease due to the increased reflex time necessary for the impulse to be conducted up and down longer neurons. Background For all aspects of this lab to be properly understood, the following principles and associated information of the following must be known: the relationship between nerves and their associated muscle(s), how electrical activity is ... • 49. World War I Was The First Major War World War I was the first major war where technology was relied on more than the troops themselves. After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most major countries started to create new technologies that in the end would pave the way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the most used everyday things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific scenarios along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common civilian or household items, these could only result in better use in war. These machines of war are so vast and expansive in type, but they are all technologies that would have needed to have been used to bring the war to a close. Not only were machines a large part but so was Scientific technologies, and innovations that saved or took the lives of many. In many European countries two major types of transportation reigned over the newer types, these being ships and trains. Both were used extensively and the usage of them would carry into World War I, changing tactics armies took and the speed of their movement as well as their survival. Ships were used mainly for larger distances ( ie: America to Europe ) where Trains were only able to carry smaller things along the front or from certain Capitals to the front itself. The usage of the trains allowed for the movement of shells that were continually made in factories on the home front, the shells could be run along from the Factories to the shelling ...
