Land Of Fish Analysis
The civilization, Land of Fish, is based off a Japanese themed civilization that is located in coastal
China at c. 500 600 CE. The civilization borrows from Japan, China, Athens, and Rome, and is a
syncretic blend of language, art, architecture, writing, religion, and government of the aforementioned
civilizations with a unique social structure. The location of the Land of Fish is found in southern
coastal China. The location helps sustain the civilization as the people are able to benefit from food
and resources from the sea. The coastal region allows the civilization to trade with sea based materials
and seafood. The civilization faces the East China Sea, and is also located near the Yellow River and
the Yangtze River, with both rivers used as a water and food source. Though the Land of Fish does
have farms on the outskirts, the economy is largely based off the sea. The ports of the civilization are
widely accessible to other civilizations, bringing in trade and new goods. In the civilization, the main
marketplace is in the center of the Land of Fish, the central location allowing accessibility for
anybody. Some marketplaces are also found scattered throughout the part of the civilization where the
middle class and merchants are located, near the coast. More inland, near the farms, the peasants are
located separate from majority of the middle class and high class. The elite and high class are found in
a separate part of the civilization, near the government buildings,

The Causes Of Social Class Inequality In The United States
Ever since this nation was declared, the societies within the United States have suffered inequities
based on their race, gender, culture, beliefs and economic status. Despite all the struggles that
Americans went through to improve situations, the repetition of oppression and destructions of
common beliefs had been plausible within the United States. As long as these negative factors remain
in America, a society with social classes will always be counterproductive in economic development.
The beliefs of free speech for minorities continue to be unequal within this country and is a mere
image of historical events that have diminished the endeavors of minorities alike. According to Teresa
Pac, Assistant Professor, Global Art and Visual Culture Coordinator, The foreign born linguistic
groups, including the Chinese, Mexican, German, Irish, as well as Eastern and Southern European
immigrants among others, maintained their heritage languages through bilingual education, often lived
in cultural enclaves, and therefore were perceived as a threat to American values . This begs the
question if this kind of treatment towards different ethnic groups will continue or not for the future.
National American values are truly an ideology created within America to program Americans to
believe that someone who doesn t speak English is a threat to their pride and is therefore labeled as an
outcast. Social norms in America also tend to support stereotypes as well. Another contribution to

Won Buddhism Temple s Website
Reading through the Won Buddhist Temple s website and the Wikipedia article was very interesting
and informative. I was curious to learn about what exactly Won Buddhism is and how it differs from
the other forms of Buddhism that we are learning about. I learned that it is a form of Buddhism that
seeks to make Enlightenment attainable for all and that the teachings are meant to me relevant and
suitable to contemporary society . In Won Buddhism the practices are simplified so that all people,
regardless of wealth, occupation, or external living conditions, are able to practice Buddhism and
achieve nirvana. I learned that a central difference of Won Buddhism is that it simplifies the teachings
and practices so they are easily understandable and applicable; it also practices that are considered
outdated, confusing, or unnecessary are removed . I also found it striking the Won is a compound
word for truth, enlightenment, and teaching in that in Korean Won means circle and symbolizes the
ultimate truth, Bul means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I especially get this impression from the question and answer section of the website where it said that
Won Buddhism is a warm and low key Buddhist tradition . I also think that the temple will be a very
relaxed and open place in that on the website it says that they focus on promoting a practical path for
cultivating calmness and a caring spirituality . In order to have the most beneficial experience as
possible for this site visit, I am trying to remain as open minded as possible about the experience. At
this point I do not have any questions or topics of concern for this site visit, but am interested to see
how this meditation session will compare to the meditation session that I participated in at the

Macroaggression In Dear White People
We discuss many concepts in our African American Culture class, a discussion that we ve had, that
stuck out to me most is the discussion from the episode of Dear White People. Dr. Jones asked the
class about a specific part in the episode, saying that although we, the class, might not have deemed it
as important, she saw the part as a contributing factor to the plot of the episode. The class had many
answers for her question, such as Reggie and Sam s relationship, or about the woke peers and the not
so woke ones. One student even mentions a girl from the episode who was almost carefree about the
issues on hand. Dr. Jones later answers her own question, giving us a detailed answer, and concludes
that when Reggie gets stopped by a coach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although in this age, anyone, regardless of race are capable of being born with what s known as a
silver spoon , whites are automatically born with an ultimate silver spoon . The ultimate silver spoon
is a ticket with access to many opportunities that has virtually no outside obstacles. White privilege is
a target aspect of racism in modern times. White privilege is the reason why white citizens are given
chance after chance in the justice system. It is the reason why white citizens are able to make certain
comments and make certain decisions without questions and without criticism. An ongoing situation
where I think white privilege shows up is the situation with the President and African American
athletes. Stephen Curry, a black professional basketball player, declined President Trump s invitation
to the White House, and Trump responded by tweeting, Going to the White House is considered a
great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore initiation is withdrawn.

Jack The Ripper Case Study

Jack the ripper? Or jill the ripper?
Inspector Abberline who was on the jack the ripper case, thought that it was a woman who had done it
the entire time. The theory started after one of the murders of a woman named Mary Kelly. Mary
Kelly was murdered between the hours of 2 and 3 in the morning. Yet Caroline Maxwell had claimed
to see her twice that morning after the time she was said to have passed. She claimed to have seen
Mary Kelly at around 8am looking sick. And again around an hour later talking to some man outside
the pub house. It would be very easy for a midwife to pull of being jack the ripper. It was not unusual
for a midwife to be walking around all hours of the night, let alone have blood on her clothes because
people would have just thought it was from her working. And she could walk in broad daylight with
no one questioning her because everyone was looking for a man. And not a woman.
Mary Pearcey the only woman suspect at the time
Here is some of the background on Mary Pearcey and to why they picked her as a suspect at the time
of the killings.
Mary lived next door to her neighbors Phoebe and her husband. Well it turns out that Phoebe s
husband is having an affair with Mary. One day Mary invited Phoebe over for tea at around 4pm.
When Phoebe s husband was at home he heard the sound of breaking glass coming from Mary s
house. He shouted over the fence to see if she was alright but no one ever ... Show more content on

Review Of The Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears was a challenge since it was both a dramatic change (by losing each tribe s
traditional land, plants, and animals, as well as their horses being confiscated or killed [to prevent
escape] and their cattle being seized in order to discourage the temptation of absconding to live
independently) and a traumatic exploit (many tribes lost over half of their population). I picked this
topic because I have always wondered what exactly happened during this trek, how far they travelled
(where they came from and where they ended up), and how they were treated. The Indians, numbering
about 16,000, were forced off their lands when Georgia citizens and the president of the US ignored
the decision from Worcester v. Georgia. Almost 4,000 Indians died on the trail (including those
victims who died in the stockades awaiting forced transportation), in order to empty their tribal lands
and make them available for new white settlers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

some of my favorite books have been about Indians, and my favorite thing to do besides reading
books about Indians was to watch old westerns (starring John Wayne) that focused primarily on
Indians and the threats or advantages that their presence offered with my dad and my brother (because
my mom has always been petrified at the very thought of Indians). This paper will review and discuss

What Is Regionalism In The Poem By Seamus Heaney
In late 20th century Ireland there was a thirty year conflict known as The Troubles that came about
due to the systematic discrimination against Catholics. During this violent period, a new poet named
Seamus Heaney addressed this strife in his poetry. Heaney was born on April 13, 1939, in
Castledawson, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland where he lived in his family farmhouse as a
Catholic in a vastly Protestant part of the country (Pool). He discovered the works of Ted Hughes,
Patrick Kavanagh, and Robert Frost while studying English at Queen s University and was inspired to
write works of his own. According to Poetry Foundation in 1995, he won the Nobel Prize for
Literature for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living
past. Through his use of imagery and regionalism in the poems Digging and The Singer s House,
Heaney creates nostalgic poems that detail his heritage as an Irish American making his voice
significant because it illustrates candid and accurate aspects of identity and life in Ireland. It is because
of this that many people around the world still read and appreciate his work.
In his nostalgic poem, Digging, there are many messages Heaney conveys about how he was exposed
to a different environment than his forefathers and how he did not choose to continue his family s
agricultural heritage. According to critic Carolyn Meyer, Heaney was torn between a rural life at home
and the formal life he was exposed

Prisoners In Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
In Plato s Allegory of the Cave, Plato describes a cave where prisoners are chained by their legs and
necks. Since their motions are restricted, they can only see what is directly in front of them. By
deciphering the images that are reflected on the wall in front of them; they can only imagine the
outside world and create their own reality. A prisoner is released to the outside world and realizes that
the items that he and the other prisoners had deciphered in the cave were only illusions. Once outside
the cave, the prisoner sees the beautiful world and is not going to want to return to the cave. Plato
compares the cave dwellers to men lacking education and are not fit to preside over the city. They are
without a sense of purpose or duty.

Automatist Utopian Themes In Acharnians and Birds
During the 5th century BCE, Old Comedy was the most prevalent comedic form in Ancient Greece.
This was largely due to the success of Athenian playwright, Aristophanes. His plays were frenetic,
visual and personal, often containing historical figures. In particular, Aristophanes comedies contained
automatist utopian themes that were used to satirize various aspects of 5th century Greece, often in
Athens. The present essay will first define utopia and the automatist subtype. Then it will explore
Aristophanes usage of automatist utopian themes in his plays Acharnians and Peace. Specifically, this
paper will argue that Aristophanes used themes associated with automatist utopia to satirize war, the
excess of the aristocracy, and the ignorance of the lower classes in 5th century Greece.
Before analyzing specific passages from Aristophanic comedy, it is essential to understand the
definition of utopia. The word, utopia was invented by author Thomas More in his 1516 book of the
same name. More derived the word from the Greek, ou topos and eu topos [which together make]...a
place which does not exist, that is not here, but which is also good (Ruffell 474). This definition is
interesting given that many of Aristophanes plays take place in 5th century Athens. It suggests that
Aristophanes was creating an Athenian world that was better but not based in reality.
This essay will focus predominantly on Aristophanes usage of automatist utopian tropes. The principal
component of an

Platonic Love In Romeo And Juliet
Love is a topic that has taken over today s world. From music to movies, everything is now based on
the love and relationships between people. However, Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, which is
arguably the most famous love story in the world, could also be seen as a warning against love. The
play Romeo and Juliet shows how platonic and romantic love can cause tragedy.
First of all, platonic love caused tragedy in Romeo and Juliet. One of the ways platonic love lead to
tragedy was through the love and loyalty between Romeo and his best friend, Mercutio. After Tybalt
killed Mercutio when Romeo refused to fight him, Romeo wanted to avenge his friend. He challenged
Tybalt to a fight and exclaimed And fire eyed fury be my conduct now. (3. 1. ... Show more content on

1. What is a criminal profiler? A criminal profiler falls under the category of law enforcement. They
are a form of criminal investigator. Profilers may use behavioral analysis to aid them in pinpointing a

do is intriguing. A profiler can learn a vast amount about a person by simply observing their actions
and reactions. The profession of a criminal profiler can be grouped into the categories of requirements,
responsibilities, and ramifications. There are strict requirements involved with becoming a criminal

Smartphone Ethical Issues
Smart is the word which has been used in the past couple of years for electronic devices used in day to
day life which faced a revolutionary transformation over the years. The time was when Apple
introduced its revolutionary phone as iPhone in 2007, which made all consumer electronics makers to
think out of the current imagination. From then on, phones used in the last decade started to become
smartphones, TVs to smart TVs and on that chain, by now we have smart watches and smart homes
too. The topic Is smartphone only a phone? was chosen to critically analyze how phones have changed
the world and the people living on it after it became smartphones. The lifestyle of people has changed
extensively after the extent of smartphones, which transformed the society to a new generation.
Transformation of a society does not bring only changes in people s behavior, it also brought new laws

Socrates Vs Meno
In this writing, Meno asks Socrates if virtue can be taught or is virtue the result of practice or does
virtue come about in another way (70a). Meno believes that virtue is different for different actions
performed and it also differs in terms of the age of the individual (72a). Socrates responds by telling
me no that he does not know what qualities virtue possesses and he is ignorant to it (71b). However,
virtue should take on the same form (72c), rather than being different for different actions and age of
the person. Factors of virtue include justice and moderation (73b), and if people did not have the same
traits of virtue, then this would mean that they are not good or virtuous in the same way (73c). During

disadvantages that leads me to support Kohn s opinion. People watch sports all year long. They decide
who they think is the best team and then they support that team. If they think their team is better than

The Pros And Cons Of Inmate Re-Incarceration In Prison
SUMMARY: Many inmates are incarcerated in prison for years and sometimes decades, then released
back into society with little education or training. Studies have found that 19 percent of inmates are
entirely illiterate, and 75 percent are functionally illiterate and read at a 4th grade level. Therefore,
without education, vocational training, or the ability to secure employment, many formerly
incarcerated people maladapt to society and return to crime and prison. Thus, a vicious cycle of re

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Beggars In Pakistan
Beggars are everywhere in Pakistan. They are found in nearly every village, town and city. The main
hubs of their action are places of worship and bazaars. They can be seen on the sides of the roads in
front of the mosques and other places of hectic activity. They move from street to street, from one area
to another and beg for alms, food and money. They take whatsoever is given to them. Sometime,
individual comes across a deaf or dumb beggar lifting a sightless or lame beggar on his back and
begging for charities.
The number of beggars in Pakistan is growing rapidly. These beggars live on the incomes of others. It
is indeed a curse that even able bodied peoples of Pakistan resort to begging. They indulge in
numerous evils like drinking and gambling. There are diseased. They bring with them infection and
roam from place to place and thus are responsible to an immense amount for spreading epidemics.

for my education.
Stepping Into Something New
Last week I told my boss once my 12 week session was complete I would be taking a break, and I
would only be available to sub. While this seems weird to cut off my income. The income was small,
and the energy that it took was very demanding.
After the conversation was over, I felt relieved and open to new opportunities, which are now
appearing.
While I loved my job, I was feeling restricted in what I can teach people as far as nutrition, mindset
and faith. I was also feeling the need to earn more money for myself, my family and the ministries I
believe in.
My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting edge knowledge in holistic nutrition, health
coaching, and prevention. Drawing on my expertise, in my new business I will work with clients,
mostly women, to help make lifestyle changes and choose health promoting ways that produce real
and lasting results.
I have been invited to open my own office in the new Kingdom Center being opened in my area, by a
worldwide ministry called The Healing Rooms. I am so excited to be joining forces with this ministry!

The Culture Of The Gullah People
Culture is an ever changing, ever evolving entity. Culture is something that for many is taken for
granted as they have always had that connection to their past. It is not easily definable but it is an
essential part of every nation s composition. American culture itself is a conglomeration of several
different cultures that make up a unique and separate identity from each of the cultures it draws from.
Everyone knows about American Southern culture whether their perceptions of it is accurate or not.
Fewer know about African American culture in the south. Many people including some African
Americans themselves are not aware of the aspects of African culture that were preserved and its
influence on American culture as a whole. One major way in which this type of influence can be seen
is in the culture of the Gullah people. YOUR INTRODUCTION DEFIENTLY GRABBED MY
ATTENTION Who are the Gullah people? The Gullah are an existing community of people who
descended from West African slaves and have managed to retain important aspects of their African
culture. These people can be found from the coast of North Carolina to Florida otherwise known as
the Low Country. Gullah people are also referred to as Gullah/Geechee or Geechee. The main
distinction between Gullah people and Geechee people is that Gullah refers to those from the
Carolinas and Geechee is used for those from Florida and Georgia. This is in reference to the
Ogeechee River, therefore different terms were used to describe

Write About the Ways the Difficulties of Love Are Explored...
Charlotte Bronte s novel, Jane Eyre and William Shakespeare s play, Much Ado about Nothing , both
focus on the themes of love; Jane Eyre was written in 1851, the Victorian era whereas Much Ado
about Nothing was written in 1599, the Elizabethan era. Although there may be over hundreds of years
between them, both texts exhibit the ways the difficulties of love can be explored. Both texts imply
that there will be difficulties as the relationships are established. Charlotte Bronte presents a
flourishing relationship between Jane and Mr Rochester; this is evident when Mr Rochester says My
cherished preserver good night! Strange energy was in his voice. Strange fire in his look. Charlotte
Bronte uses passionate language to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In mine eye, she is the sweetest lady ever I looked on. Again this really highlights the attraction
Claudio has for Hero is purely the result of, first, physical beauty and, second, the desire to marry a
noble and virtuous woman. While Claudio can t be faulted for desiring such qualities in a wife, it is
telling that he is ready to marry her after only this first meeting and that he goes to Leonato, not Hero
herself, to purpose marriage. This makes the audience doubt the relationship between Claudio and
Hero as it s based only on attraction. Similarly between both texts they both introduce antagonistic
characters that pose problems and difficulties to the development of the relationships. Charlotte
Bronte develops Jane and Mr Rochester s relationship slowly, which may make readers doubt the
relationship, foreshadowing the trouble ahead. Bronte uses the technique of pathetic fallacy to
highlight trouble unravelling further on in the novel. The great horse chestnut at the bottom of the
orchard had been struck by lightning in the night, and half of it split away . This quote ends the
chapter of Jane and Mr Rochester s proposal. Bronte used nature several times in the novel to
underline the approval or disapproval of a situation. In this scene, as soon as Jane accepts Mr
Rochester s proposal, a bolt of lightning strikes the chestnut tree causing it to split in half, representing
the trouble that lies ahead

Pro Death Penalty Thesis
Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a sentence sanctioned by government, which
punishes a criminal offence by death (The World Encyclopedia, 2001). The acrimonious debate over
whether death penalty should be abolished in the United States has continued for decades. In the year
of 1608, Captain George Kendall became the first person to be executed by death penalty in the
United States (Barbour, 1962). Hundreds of years later, the United States still keeps the death penalty
in its legislation as the last and final punishment to the crime. It is significant to have the question:
Should the United States abolish the death penalty? Because hundreds of year passed by, our society is
different from the society in 1608, which is the year when Captain George Kendall was executed.
Therefore, perhaps we should reconsider question that if the death penalty should still exist in
American legislation. This paper will present two thesis statements on this question, one being pro
death penalty, thinks that the death penalty should not be abolished in the United State. The other one
being anti death penalty, and thinks that the death penalty should be abolished in the United States.
Evaluations will be performed on the two articles based on their ... Show more content on

FEMA is in charge of coordinating and managing relief efforts for large, and/or lesser scale disaster
efforts. When FEMA is notified into action, it sets in motion a wide range of entities that collaborate
together to provide assistance. Roughly, a few types of assistants that are set into motion would
include financial and physical support.
When FEMA is called into action, they utilize a specific system called the National Incident
Management System or NIMS. The National Incident Management System is designed as a
systematic way of coordination between the public and private sectors to manage response efforts for
several types of incidents to aid in preventing loss of life and damage. It is also designed as a standard,
cooperate tool used for managing incidents. The concepts contained herein provide for a flexible but
standardized set of incident management practices with emphasis on common principles, a consistent
approach to operational structures and supporting mechanisms, and an integrated approach to resource
management (Department of Homeland Security, 2015). The NIMS has several functions that work in
association to provide the necessary tools for response efforts. These functions include: NIMS

Explain The Main Features Of The Articles Of Confederation
This chapter covers many topics such as the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and the Declaration of
Independence. Before the Constitution of the United States, the Articles of Confederation serve as the
first plan of a national government for the thirteen American states. (pg.17) The Articles allowed the
states to retain most political power. (pg.17) Other features of the document were that it preserved
state autonomy, guaranteed equal representation for the states, and it granted the central government
only a few important powers . (pg.17 18) However, it provided no separate executive branch and no
national courts, and it made the amendment almost impossible . (pg.18) It never really occurred to me

Analysis Of The Glass Jar Gwen Harwood
Through the juxtaposition between past and present, organic imagery and a pronounced tone of both
wonder and tranquility marking the language, Gwen Harwood s poetry delineates the nature of grief,
fear, and memory as they personify human experience. The events described in Father and Child , is
an exploration of the existential and moral concerns of the poet. Both poems exemplify the ideals of
maturity as compared to immaturity. The Violets on the other hand explores the reconciliation of past
memories. How one who cannot be comforted in the moment, can be comforted by memories instead.
Fear is the main focus on Harwood s most psychological poem The Glass Jar .
The violets:
In the Glass jar the boy views his father as his rival , concerning the intimacy he shares with his
mother. In describing the mother, Harwood uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Barn Owl poem is situated around her childhood whereas Nightfall is situated around her adulthood,

which alludes to the controlling, vengeful God of the Old Testament. She thinks that her father is now
robbed of his power because he is asleep and is unaware of her plans. With Harwood contesting

Why Do More Weekend Activities Are Necessary
Why More Weekend Activities are Necessary
When walking around campus on the weekends, whether the weather is nice or not, you encounter
very few people if any. You can t help wondering where everyone is. You ponder maybe they went
home or they are going off campus with their friends to go to the mall or party. It is not beneficial that
numerous people leave campus on the weekends. If students stay on campus, they are cooped up in
their dorm rooms all day not wanting to leave. A major aspect of college besides acquiring an
education is getting to be social and connect with your school and the people around you. That is not
even possible, despite the fact that you hardly ever run across a good deal of people. The fact is, Walsh
University does not provide nearly enough weekend activities to keep students on campus. Weekend
activities need to be provided not only for the social aspect, but for an abundance of more reasons.
Students can be creative and relieve some of their weeks stress through activities. Furthermore,
students can obtain some physical activity or even learn some leadership skills. Having a movie night
each Friday night, hosting parties that don t involve alcohol, or even putting on a Dodgeball
tournament in the gym, can help keep students on campus. Providing more activities will help keep
students on campus and involved; in view of the fact that, then there will be activities to do and they
will be kept busy while having fun. Walsh University needs to

Throughout This Essay, I Am Going To Investigate Using
Throughout this essay, I am going to investigate using various references and ABS journals, what
exactly is the role of a line manager in Human Resource Management. Mangers in any type of
business are so vital as they control what happens in the background, whether it being with fellow
employees or their head of office. They also meet the needs of many consumers, mangers are often
seen as important when consumers may have a problem, whether it being in retail , manger will be on
the floor, or by contacting either over the phone or e mail etc. No place can run without a manger, you
need someone to be able to direct and influence employees so that the business or organization s goals
are met and achieve to the highest standard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2) The second role/ responsibility of a line manager is managing the business s finances and use of
their resources. The line manager should be able to use the resources available to them within their
control to achieve their goals and objectives. Employee engagement is another thing a line manager is
engaged with. A line manager in charge of taking charge and supervising the employees in the
business. They are in charge of creating an organisation culture for teams within the business among
employees. The line manager can decide to focus on all the employees strengths and encourage them
to take action and communicate with each other. It s a good idea for the line manager to focus on the
positive and not the negative, if a line manager was to only focus on the negative, will then knock
confidence in any employees and shy them away from making suggestions or communicating.
Although Performance appraisal is designed by particular HR individuals, they are implemented by
the line managers who are in contact with the employees. In a performance appraisal, employees
performance and behaviours are accessed and then rated by these direct line managers in the business.
When feedback is given, it must be implemented in the correct manner in order for it to be anyway
effective. If the line managers were to show any disinterest the

Analysis Of The Book His Excellency George Washington ...
Everyone knows George Washington as the first president, but most people do not know his other
roles in the creation of the United States of America. In Joseph J. Ellis s book, His Excellency George
Washington, Ellis tells about Washington s life. He includes his time as a general in the Revolutionary
War, his life in retirement after the war, and also his time as the president. Ellis s main focus in the
book is to paint a picture for the reader so it almost feels like they are right next to Washington as his
life is explained. The information in his book allows for readers to have a better understanding of what
Washington went through in his life and also ,at times, gives educated guesses on what Washington
might have been thinking. Through this book, it is easy to see why George Washington is referred to
as one of the greatest Americans to ever live. Washington had many tough decisions in his life that
pulled him in every direction and called for him to think every decision through. One of these
decisions, and probably the one that was on his mind the most, was the idea of the emancipation of
slavery. As it is stated on page 164, Washington told his manager, Lund Washington, that he wanted to
abandon slave labor at Mount Vernon and replace it with hired workers. Eventually he began to lose
profits so he debated selling his slaves. His heart would not allow for him to split up families, so he
was forced to deal with the consequences of using hired laborers. Another

No Repository Of Human Knowledge
Aaron Swartz was a computer computer prodigy and activist for political and societal change. From
adolescent Swartz amassed attention within the technological community from designing websites to
his intellectualism. As an adult, Swartz railed against established society through activism. Ultimately,
the activism led to his arrest and death at 26. Opinions surround Swartz fluctuate, but his work
continues to survive after his death. Born on November 8, 1986, to Robert and Susan Swartz, Aaron
was raised in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, Illinois. At three, Swartz s father introduced him
to computers, and according to Swartz s mother, he took off like crazy on them. As an adolescent,

The Opening Chapters Of Anita Saterlee s Organizational...
The opening chapters of Anita Saterlee s Organizational Management Leadership: A Christian
Perspective introduce several business concepts that have been researched throughout the years. An
examination of these concepts reveal not all are similar and there is no one perfect leadership style.
Instead, the differences in leadership styles and management techniques, Satterlee argues, should be
based upon the type of work and organization in which the leader or manager is engaged (Satterlee,
2013). Despite the transition inherent in the evolution of management theories, discussed in Chapters
1 and 2, the concepts of Followership, Transformational Leadership, and Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs are timeless. The purpose of this report is to show that an in depth study and examination into
these three concepts are beneficial to all who desire to manage and lead in any environment, in any
field, and in any era.
Followership as a Precursor to Leadership Anita Satterlee makes an obvious, but profound observation
stating, A leader cannot lead without followers (Satterlee, pg. 6, 2013). Essentially, a leader without
subordinates who are engaged can not lead properly. While this concept is easy to comprehend, what
is most intriguing is Satterlee s claim that by mastering the role of followership, a subordinate
prepares for the role of leadership (Satterlee, pg. 7, 2013). Instead of viewing leaders as being static, it
is important to view the process of leadership as more

  • 2. Land Of Fish Analysis The civilization, Land of Fish, is based off a Japanese themed civilization that is located in coastal China at c. 500 600 CE. The civilization borrows from Japan, China, Athens, and Rome, and is a syncretic blend of language, art, architecture, writing, religion, and government of the aforementioned civilizations with a unique social structure. The location of the Land of Fish is found in southern coastal China. The location helps sustain the civilization as the people are able to benefit from food and resources from the sea. The coastal region allows the civilization to trade with sea based materials and seafood. The civilization faces the East China Sea, and is also located near the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, with both rivers used as a water and food source. Though the Land of Fish does have farms on the outskirts, the economy is largely based off the sea. The ports of the civilization are widely accessible to other civilizations, bringing in trade and new goods. In the civilization, the main marketplace is in the center of the Land of Fish, the central location allowing accessibility for anybody. Some marketplaces are also found scattered throughout the part of the civilization where the middle class and merchants are located, near the coast. More inland, near the farms, the peasants are located separate from majority of the middle class and high class. The elite and high class are found in a separate part of the civilization, near the government buildings, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Causes Of Social Class Inequality In The United States Ever since this nation was declared, the societies within the United States have suffered inequities based on their race, gender, culture, beliefs and economic status. Despite all the struggles that Americans went through to improve situations, the repetition of oppression and destructions of common beliefs had been plausible within the United States. As long as these negative factors remain in America, a society with social classes will always be counterproductive in economic development. The beliefs of free speech for minorities continue to be unequal within this country and is a mere image of historical events that have diminished the endeavors of minorities alike. According to Teresa Pac, Assistant Professor, Global Art and Visual Culture Coordinator, The foreign born linguistic groups, including the Chinese, Mexican, German, Irish, as well as Eastern and Southern European immigrants among others, maintained their heritage languages through bilingual education, often lived in cultural enclaves, and therefore were perceived as a threat to American values . This begs the question if this kind of treatment towards different ethnic groups will continue or not for the future. National American values are truly an ideology created within America to program Americans to believe that someone who doesn t speak English is a threat to their pride and is therefore labeled as an outcast. Social norms in America also tend to support stereotypes as well. Another contribution to social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was curious to learn about what exactly Won Buddhism is and how it differs from the other forms of Buddhism that we are learning about. I learned that it is a form of Buddhism that seeks to make Enlightenment attainable for all and that the teachings are meant to me relevant and suitable to contemporary society . In Won Buddhism the practices are simplified so that all people, regardless of wealth, occupation, or external living conditions, are able to practice Buddhism and achieve nirvana. I learned that a central difference of Won Buddhism is that it simplifies the teachings and practices so they are easily understandable and applicable; it also practices that are considered outdated, confusing, or unnecessary are removed . Macroaggression In Dear White People We discuss many concepts in our African American Culture class, a discussion that we ve had, that stuck out to me most is the discussion from the episode of Dear White People. Dr. Jones asked the class about a specific part in the episode, saying that although we, the class, might not have deemed it as important, she saw the part as a contributing factor to the plot of the episode. The class had many answers for her question, such as Reggie and Sam s relationship, or about the woke peers and the not so woke ones. Inspector Abberline who was on the jack the ripper case, thought that it was a woman who had done it the entire time. The theory started after one of the murders of a woman named Mary Kelly. Mary Kelly was murdered between the hours of 2 and 3 in the morning. Yet Caroline Maxwell had claimed to see her twice that morning after the time she was said to have passed. She claimed to have seen Mary Kelly at around 8am looking sick. And again around an hour later talking to some man outside the pub house. It would be very easy for a midwife to pull of being jack the ripper. It was not unusual for a midwife to be walking around all hours of the night, let alone have blood on her clothes because people would have just thought it was from her working. And she could walk in broad daylight with no one questioning her because everyone was looking for a man. And not a woman. Mary Pearcey the only woman suspect at the time Here is some of the background on Mary Pearcey and to why they picked her as a suspect at the time of the killings. • 8. Review Of The Trail Of Tears The Trail of Tears was a challenge since it was both a dramatic change (by losing each tribe s traditional land, plants, and animals, as well as their horses being confiscated or killed [to prevent escape] and their cattle being seized in order to discourage the temptation of absconding to live independently) and a traumatic exploit (many tribes lost over half of their population). I picked this topic because I have always wondered what exactly happened during this trek, how far they travelled (where they came from and where they ended up), and how they were treated. The Indians, numbering about 16,000, were forced off their lands when Georgia citizens and the president of the US ignored the decision from Worcester v. Georgia. Almost 4,000 Indians died on the trail (including those victims who died in the stockades awaiting forced transportation), in order to empty their tribal lands and make them available for new white settlers. ... • 9. What Is Regionalism In The Poem By Seamus Heaney In late 20th century Ireland there was a thirty year conflict known as The Troubles that came about due to the systematic discrimination against Catholics. During this violent period, a new poet named Seamus Heaney addressed this strife in his poetry. Heaney was born on April 13, 1939, in Castledawson, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland where he lived in his family farmhouse as a Catholic in a vastly Protestant part of the country (Pool). He discovered the works of Ted Hughes, Patrick Kavanagh, and Robert Frost while studying English at Queen s University and was inspired to write works of his own. According to Poetry Foundation in 1995, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past. Through his use of imagery and regionalism in the poems Digging and The Singer s House, Heaney creates nostalgic poems that detail his heritage as an Irish American making his voice significant because it illustrates candid and accurate aspects of identity and life in Ireland. It is because of this that many people around the world still read and appreciate his work. In his nostalgic poem, Digging, there are many messages Heaney conveys about how he was exposed to a different environment than his forefathers and how he did not choose to continue his family s agricultural heritage. According to critic Carolyn Meyer, Heaney was torn between a rural life at home and the formal life he was exposed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Automatist Utopian Themes In Acharnians and Birds During the 5th century BCE, Old Comedy was the most prevalent comedic form in Ancient Greece. This was largely due to the success of Athenian playwright, Aristophanes. His plays were frenetic, visual and personal, often containing historical figures. In particular, Aristophanes comedies contained automatist utopian themes that were used to satirize various aspects of 5th century Greece, often in Athens. The present essay will first define utopia and the automatist subtype. Then it will explore Aristophanes usage of automatist utopian themes in his plays Acharnians and Peace. Specifically, this paper will argue that Aristophanes used themes associated with automatist utopia to satirize war, the excess of the aristocracy, and the ignorance of the lower classes in 5th century Greece. Before analyzing specific passages from Aristophanic comedy, it is essential to understand the definition of utopia. The word, utopia was invented by author Thomas More in his 1516 book of the same name. More derived the word from the Greek, ou topos and eu topos [which together make]...a place which does not exist, that is not here, but which is also good (Ruffell 474). This definition is interesting given that many of Aristophanes plays take place in 5th century Athens. It suggests that Aristophanes was creating an Athenian world that was better but not based in reality. This essay will focus predominantly on Aristophanes usage of automatist utopian tropes. The principal component of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The play Romeo and Juliet shows how platonic and romantic love can cause tragedy. First of all, platonic love caused tragedy in Romeo and Juliet. One of the ways platonic love lead to tragedy was through the love and loyalty between Romeo and his best friend, Mercutio. • 23. The Culture Of The Gullah People Culture is an ever changing, ever evolving entity. Culture is something that for many is taken for granted as they have always had that connection to their past. It is not easily definable but it is an essential part of every nation s composition. American culture itself is a conglomeration of several different cultures that make up a unique and separate identity from each of the cultures it draws from. Everyone knows about American Southern culture whether their perceptions of it is accurate or not. Fewer know about African American culture in the south. Many people including some African Americans themselves are not aware of the aspects of African culture that were preserved and its influence on American culture as a whole. One major way in which this type of influence can be seen is in the culture of the Gullah people. YOUR INTRODUCTION DEFIENTLY GRABBED MY ATTENTION Who are the Gullah people? The Gullah are an existing community of people who descended from West African slaves and have managed to retain important aspects of their African culture. These people can be found from the coast of North Carolina to Florida otherwise known as the Low Country. Gullah people are also referred to as Gullah/Geechee or Geechee. Charlotte Bronte s novel, Jane Eyre and William Shakespeare s play, Much Ado about Nothing , both focus on the themes of love; Jane Eyre was written in 1851, the Victorian era whereas Much Ado about Nothing was written in 1599, the Elizabethan era. Although there may be over hundreds of years between them, both texts exhibit the ways the difficulties of love can be explored. Both texts imply that there will be difficulties as the relationships are established. Charlotte Bronte presents a flourishing relationship between Jane and Mr Rochester; this is evident when Mr Rochester says My cherished preserver good night! Strange energy was in his voice. Strange fire in his look. Charlotte Bronte uses passionate language to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In mine eye, she is the sweetest lady ever I looked on. Again this really highlights the attraction Claudio has for Hero is purely the result of, first, physical beauty and, second, the desire to marry a noble and virtuous woman. While Claudio can t be faulted for desiring such qualities in a wife, it is telling that he is ready to marry her after only this first meeting and that he goes to Leonato, not Hero herself, to purpose marriage. This makes the audience doubt the relationship between Claudio and Hero as it s based only on attraction. Similarly between both texts they both introduce antagonistic characters that pose problems and difficulties to the development of the relationships. Charlotte Bronte develops Jane and Mr Rochester s relationship slowly, which may make readers doubt the relationship, foreshadowing the trouble ahead. Bronte uses the technique of pathetic fallacy to highlight trouble unravelling further on in the novel. The great horse chestnut at the bottom of the orchard had been struck by lightning in the night, and half of it split away . This quote ends the chapter of Jane and Mr Rochester s proposal. Bronte used nature several times in the novel to underline the approval or disapproval of a situation. In this scene, as soon as Jane accepts Mr Rochester s proposal, a bolt of lightning strikes the chestnut tree causing it to split in half, representing the trouble that lies ahead ... • 25. Pro Death Penalty Thesis Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a sentence sanctioned by government, which punishes a criminal offence by death (The World Encyclopedia, 2001). The acrimonious debate over whether death penalty should be abolished in the United States has continued for decades. In the year of 1608, Captain George Kendall became the first person to be executed by death penalty in the United States (Barbour, 1962). Hundreds of years later, the United States still keeps the death penalty in its legislation as the last and final punishment to the crime. It is significant to have the question: Should the United States abolish the death penalty? Because hundreds of year passed by, our society is different from the society in 1608, which is the year when Captain George Kendall was executed. Therefore, perhaps we should reconsider question that if the death penalty should still exist in American legislation. This paper will present two thesis statements on this question, one being pro death penalty, thinks that the death penalty should not be abolished in the United State. The other one being anti death penalty, and thinks that the death penalty should be abolished in the United States. Evaluations will be performed on the two articles based on their ... Why Do More Weekend Activities Are Necessary Why More Weekend Activities are Necessary When walking around campus on the weekends, whether the weather is nice or not, you encounter very few people if any. You can t help wondering where everyone is. You ponder maybe they went home or they are going off campus with their friends to go to the mall or party. It is not beneficial that numerous people leave campus on the weekends. If students stay on campus, they are cooped up in their dorm rooms all day not wanting to leave. A major aspect of college besides acquiring an education is getting to be social and connect with your school and the people around you. That is not even possible, despite the fact that you hardly ever run across a good deal of people. The fact is, Walsh University does not provide nearly enough weekend activities to keep students on campus. Weekend activities need to be provided not only for the social aspect, but for an abundance of more reasons. Students can be creative and relieve some of their weeks stress through activities. Furthermore, students can obtain some physical activity or even learn some leadership skills. Having a movie night each Friday night, hosting parties that don t involve alcohol, or even putting on a Dodgeball tournament in the gym, can help keep students on campus. • 32. Analysis Of The Book His Excellency George Washington ... Everyone knows George Washington as the first president, but most people do not know his other roles in the creation of the United States of America. In Joseph J. Ellis s book, His Excellency George Washington, Ellis tells about Washington s life. He includes his time as a general in the Revolutionary War, his life in retirement after the war, and also his time as the president. Ellis s main focus in the book is to paint a picture for the reader so it almost feels like they are right next to Washington as his life is explained. The information in his book allows for readers to have a better understanding of what Washington went through in his life and also ,at times, gives educated guesses on what Washington might have been thinking. Through this book, it is easy to see why George Washington is referred to as one of the greatest Americans to ever live. Washington had many tough decisions in his life that pulled him in every direction and called for him to think every decision through. One of these decisions, and probably the one that was on his mind the most, was the idea of the emancipation of slavery. As it is stated on page 164, Washington told his manager, Lund Washington, that he wanted to abandon slave labor at Mount Vernon and replace it with hired workers. Eventually he began to lose profits so he debated selling his slaves. His heart would not allow for him to split up families, so he was forced to deal with the consequences of using hired laborers. • 34. The Opening Chapters Of Anita Saterlee s Organizational... The opening chapters of Anita Saterlee s Organizational Management Leadership: A Christian Perspective introduce several business concepts that have been researched throughout the years. An examination of these concepts reveal not all are similar and there is no one perfect leadership style. Instead, the differences in leadership styles and management techniques, Satterlee argues, should be based upon the type of work and organization in which the leader or manager is engaged (Satterlee, 2013). Despite the transition inherent in the evolution of management theories, discussed in Chapters 1 and 2, the concepts of Followership, Transformational Leadership, and Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs are timeless. The purpose of this report is to show that an in depth study and examination into these three concepts are beneficial to all who desire to manage and lead in any environment, in any field, and in any era. Followership as a Precursor to Leadership Anita Satterlee makes an obvious, but profound observation stating, A leader cannot lead without followers (Satterlee, pg. 6, 2013). Essentially, a leader without subordinates who are engaged can not lead properly. While this concept is easy to comprehend, what is most intriguing is Satterlee s claim that by mastering the role of followership, a subordinate prepares for the role of leadership (Satterlee, pg. 7, 2013). Instead of viewing leaders as being static, it is important to view the process of leadership as more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
