Julian Of Norwich And The Church
Little is known about Julian of Norwich. She does, however, state that in May 1373, at the age of 30,
she became gravely ill and on the brink of death. It was during this illness God granted her a series of
16 visions that were rooted in a vivid awareness of Christ s passion. These visions were later recorded
in two texts, which are commonly known as the Short Text and the Long Text or as A Vision and A
Revelation. The former can be dated to 1370 80 and the later composed in 1390 1400. To understand
Julian and her theological account of her visions it is important to recognize the state of the church
during this era as well as its probable influence this had on her life and works. In the 13th century the
church was very much in the midst of a tension between the church defined as ecclesiastical hierarchy
and the church defined as a community of believers. That is to say that there was a growing gap
between the church s forms and formulas and the beliefs of its members. In broad terms, Christianity
tended to become more and more clerical whereas lay society tended to become more religious which
generated an increase in the number of spiritual initiatives. Also during this time there was great
anxiety amongst lay people over issues of sin, death, and a desire for security of the soul. This was
perhaps the most common and burdensome anxiety of the Middle Ages. The doctrine of purgatory,
however effective it may have been in providing consolation and hope it also caused great

Literature Review Of High Flow Nasal Cannula
Literature Review High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has become a safe, useful therapy in
many types of patients with respiratory failure, improving oxygenation and comfort levels. Oxygen
therapy is the main treatment for hypoxemic respiratory failure and has been delivered via nasal
prongs or masks. The maximum flow rates that these devices can deliver are limited due to the
insufficient heat and humidity provided to the gas that s being administered. It s accepted that flow
rates up to 15 L/min can be delivered using conventional nasal prongs or masks, and even high flow
tubing, but this flow is far lower than the inspiratory flow of a patient with acute respiratory failure.
Room air dilutes the supplemental oxygen, resulting in a significant decrease in the fraction of the
inspired oxygen (FIO2) that finally reaches the air sacks in the lungs, called alveoli. Many different
HFNC devices are available, but the technique always involves the delivery of a totally conditioned
(37 °C containing 44 mg H2O/L [100 % relative humidity]) gas admixture via a wide bore and soft
nasal prong up to 60 L/min, with a fraction of inspired oxygen ranging from 0.21 to 1 (21% to 100%).
(Roca, 2016). HFNC oxygen therapy is a very effective modality for the early treatment of adults with
respiratory failure with diverse underlying diseases.
Physiological effect High flow with optimally heated and humidified gas is thought to have a variety
of physiological effects. Gas from an

National Honor Society Personal Statement Essay
National Honor Society Personal Statement
I have always had an interest in improving the community around us, and would like to be involved in
this role by helping out in the community. By joining NHS, I aspire to enhance some of my skills,
such as ambition, collaboration, and leadership. I hope to increase my initiative to provide service in
the community and to take chances out of my comfort zone. By helping out in the community more
with service projects I hope to improve my collaborative, management and people skills. In addition, I
hope to improve my leadership skills through public service projects. These projects will not only give
me more experience with leadership, but they will also motivate me to help my community and my
peers with their endeavors. I believe that joining the National Honor Society at River Hill will teach
me essential skills for my future, and improve my community.
Learning is the single most important aspect of any school education. Being able to retain the content
and apply the information is much more important than simply memorizing facts. Earlier this year, I
had initially started to take a certain class that would not benefit me in the future, and instead create an
abundance amount of stress for me, as I had no interest in taking that course and was merely taking it
to fit the norms of other students. Soon after, I realized that taking a different class that actually
interested me would be more beneficial, and thus I would be able to focus on my other courses of high
levels. This switch genuinely allows me to develop a much higher level of commitment for my other
classes and help me retain the information for future purposes. A leader takes diligent time in
considering the ability to adhere to other people s interests and presents their followers with a positive
mindset. This summer, I accepted an invitation to participate in the Dale Carnegie Young Adult
Leadership Program. Attendees of this program learned several skills that can be applied to future
experiences, especially on how to become an effective leader. Everyday, the attendees acted as leaders
by accomplishing various tasks that forced them to reach out of their comfort zones. We acted as
leaders by leading group

Junk Food Stamps
Junk food is a type of food that you can practically buy anywhere in the United States. It provides you
with something to fill up your stomach for a short amount of time while you try to find something
nutritious. The food stamps let you buy almost any food available that is not cooked. Some people of
the U.S. do not have a stove or microwave to make food they just buy junk food to fulfill their hunger.
Food stamps should be able to buy any food from the store.
When people are having a busy day they tend to pick up any snack whenever they feel hungry. They
have to be working to provide other needs for their family. They might not have money with them but
they have food stamps. With the food stamps without being able to buy junk food they would

The Economic Factors Of Slave Labor In The 1600s In America
In Virginia, the Chesapeake Bay area during the 1600s the slave community evolved over a long
period of time. Problems occurred regarding their labor that had an important influence on the switch
to a society dominated by slave labor. During the 1600s labor in the Chesapeake shifted to slave
society because of a shift in culture, economic issues, and frustrations of the tobacco market boom.
Each of these reasons all relates back to the labor problem the colonists were facing in Virginia. As
mentioned above, one of the reasons that shifted the Chesapeake Bay area into a slave society was a
shift in culture. In the early decades, people s economic status was an important identifier for what
benefits they could receive, or what they could and could not do. Later in the century, this all changes.
Anthony Johnson, who is African, arrives in the Chesapeake in 1621. When Anthony arrived, he was
considered unfree and worked in a tobacco field with both whites and blacks since at this time
economic status was still the main identifier for individuals. Anthony Jackson was considered an
unusual or lucky man for many reasons. In fact, some of the reasons that made him incredibly lucky
was that he did not die from diseases unlike other people in the Chesapeake, he finds a female
companionship who also survives, and in 1630 Anthony buys both his and his wife s freedom. In
addition, another unusual thing about Anthony was that in 1640 he becomes a plantation owner.

Baseball And The Game Of Baseball
Baseball to most it just a simple game that involves one just throwing a ball, another hitting it, and
then another catching it, but it s much more than that. The ability to hit a baseball three hundred plus
feet, that s coming at you at speeds greater than 85 mph, is hard to attain. Now imagine trying to catch
a ball that s coming at the same speeds, not so easy now right? Apart from the physical abilities
needed to play, the mental part of the game is also important. The game of baseball is similar to life if
you re not prepared physically and mentally to go about your business you won t succeed.
I ve been playing baseball since I let out my first cries. For me baseball is a battleground. The side that
is better prepared and executes well is the one who usually wins. Just like how you don t go out to war
without any training, the same goes for baseball you don t go and just play baseball. Practice in
general is important for anything that you do; it allows you to experience a situation during a time
where it s not important. I can t recall a time where I didn t practice and performed during a game.
Baseball has taught me that if I want to succeed you have to prepare yourself. It doesn t just happen.
In terms of school, imagine going to take an exam without sort of studying you won t do so well.
Apart from practice, which prepares you physically, if you re not mentally right, you won t do so well.
The mental part of the game is the most important part. Baseball is

The Portrayal Of Women In Western Genre
In Western genre, women are repeatedly portrayed as either the helpless damsel in distress or the wild
saloon girl. Most Western movies have elements of a gunfight, rivalry, redemption, and/or romance
written into the script. A large percentage of the stereotypes of the American West comes from these
exaggerated characters and storylines. Very rarely do western films present a strong female lead.
When they do, there is frequently a subplot of romance written into it. Few Western genre and cinema
portray the true nature of what women in the West were like. In Marcia Mullers Sweet Cactus Wine ,
the female protagonist Katy is not what most people think when they read Western genre. Portrayed as

Implicit Cost Of An Explicit Cost Essay
A) Explicit costs are expenses/payments that are actually made and frequently recorded. They mirror
payment for a business transaction such as salaries, rent, and utilities.(OpenStax Economics, 2016).
Implicit costs being intangible are not frequently recorded. This sort of cost mirrors a potential
opportunity, advantages, or points of interest that may have happened in a given circumstance.
(OpenStax Economics, 2016)
EXAMPLES OF WHEN AN EXPLICIT COST IS DIFFERENT FROM AN IMPLICIT COST
1. Implicit costs are expenses connected with utilizing a company s fixed assets and resources already
owned without paying to utilize those assets. They are opportunity expenses or costs that originate
from utilizing internal resources instead of leasing or renting them, with the organization surrendering
the chance to profiting from the use of those assets and resources so utilized. Cases of Implicit cost
include entrepreneurs renouncing getting a pay, or using their own space for business purposes freely
as opposed to leasing it to earn more income. Organizations can decide whether to incorporate implicit
expenses as potential wellsprings of income. Utilizing your basement or garage as a wholesale for
your home based business without leasing or renting it to your home based business incurs an implicit
cost. (OpenStax Economics, 2016)
Explicit costs, however, are immediate payments made during the course of business or during
business exchanges. This kind of cost obliges organizations to

Independence From The Colonial Rule
their independence from the colonial rule. In this essay I am going to explain neo colonialism, assess
the current conditions of the Democratic Republic of Congo while assessing if whether or not it fits
under the description of Neo colonialism.
Colonialism (old colonial regime) versus Neo colonialism
Africa with all its blessings in mineral resources has sadly been a victim of the atrocities imposed by
the world towards it. It is often said that colonisation can be viewed as a process that shaped the
African continent s destiny in every way. According to Horvath (1972: 47) colonialism refers to the
practice of inter group domination in which settlers migrate to the colony from the colonizing power.
Colonialism in this sense can be seen as a way of exercising power unjustly, towards those who are
less powerful, which in this case are the
African countries. Power in this sense can be seen as a force that allows the settlers or rather the
colonial powers to have the authority to claim and use land that does not belong to them for their own
benefits. For Horvath (1972: 48) when it comes to the economy, colonialism can be seen as a form of
exploitation, through it exploiting the resources of the colonies for their own economic advancement.
Colonialism then was a harsh system that robbed Africans off their natural resources.
Neo colonialism on the other hand, is often referred to as a policy that makes use of

Mary Queen Of Scots Summary

Mary Queen of Scots
The book I chose to read was Mary Queen of Scots. The author of this book is Sally Stepanek. The
book was published by Chelsea House Publishers in 1987 with a total of 110 pages. The book is about
Mary Stuart and her life as a queen and also as a prisoner. It tells of the hardships she had went
through and the good times too.
To me the book mostly over sees the hardships Mary had went through. Like having to leave her home
land when she was an infant to having her throne taken away by her own son that disowned her. She
had three husbands that all left her as a widow. While the book is about Mary s life it also tells a lot
about others too. I did not like the book because I felt as though it was repetitive in some parts and
also it was not as interesting as I thought it was going to be. I do believe that if people besides me that
were interested in it, it would be very successful book, but to me I would not purchase or read this
book again.
Second of all, the book is all about Mary s life from birth to her unfair death. The author often tells
about the fighting between the Protestants and Catholic Church. It also tells of her three husbands and
her many lovers threw her life. The important conclusions is that Mary was Queen of France and
Queen of Scots, also how she was tried for treason and the murder of her second husband Lord
Darnley. Also there was a battle over the infant Queen with

High School Sports Make Student Athletes
High school sports make student athletes strive for better success in their education. Sure some
Schools have a minimum G.P.A requirement of 2.0, and to get that all your classes have to be C or
better. Well that s better than letting them have a 1.0 and letting them play. It makes them have
something worth studying for, For example my friend Bryan Garcia does not like school or work but
he is always looking for ways to make his grades better so that he may play with the John F. Kennedy
soccer team. Also not all the states in the United States of America have a G.P.A requirement to play

How Did The Odyssey Influence Greek Culture
From having read The Epic of Gilgamesh before The Odyssey there are a few parallels that can be
seen between both books. Since The Odyssey was written nearly a thousand years after The Epic of
Gilgamesh I wondered what other influences were incorporated into The Odyssey. It s mentioned
within the Gods and Goddesses Documentary that Greece was constantly adapting its religious views
as a result of the constant invasions and cultural diffusion between other Ancient civilizations at that
time. The video then further states that the gods and goddesses of Greek culture are not solely created
by the Greeks themselves, but the people who migrate and assimilate into their culture as well. It was
after watching this video that I decided to start researching to see what other influences are contained
within The Odyssey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the great poet Homer can t manifest every idea of the polytheistic religion of the Greeks by
himself. This type of story takes time and collaboration through multiple generations of Greek culture
and the diversity within this culture. Griffin further explains that Greek influence lies in the ancient
north from the Germanic, Celtic, Latin, and Iranian people. The Aryans being another influence,
brought along their language and religion. The Aryans were arguably the biggest influence on Greek
culture due to their access to trade routes with kingdoms of the east which include Mesopotamia and
Egypt. The plot of Odysseus is common among the ancient traditions that influence Greek culture:

Banning Capital Punishment in the United States Essay
Banning the use of capital punishment in the United States
Capital punishment (the death penalty) is a legal procedure which is known as the most severe
punishment where the law authorizes execution as a punishment for criminals (Gerald, 2008). Many
people claim that allowing such a punishment will help decrease the crime rate, and also give closure
to the victim s family, but if you as American citizens analyze this situation in more detail you can see
that taking a life for taking a life is more of a personal matter than justice. When comparing the states
that allow capital punishment with the states that have abolished it, the crime rate does not differ.
Hence, those who argue that death row has a positive effect on making criminals ... Show more

2008 murder rate in death penalty states was 41% higher than the non death penalty states, 2009 the
murder rate was 35% higher than the non death penalty states (Cooper, 2011). As you can see capital
punishment had no influence on preventing criminals from doing illegal acts. Therefore, all of the
work and energy that goes into executing a criminal in the name of justice is illogical and ineffective.
It is argued that most people who support capital punishment are the families of the victims. In their
eyes execution is revenge, but how can you trust a system that is not always correct? Would taking a
life of another stop criminals and lower the crime rate, or would it bring the victims back to life? In
most cases the answer is no. Moreover, it appears that the legal system is not always accurate, and that
innocent people have been executed and convicted. Over 142 men and women have been discharged
from the death row over the past 40 years. Also in the past four years evidence has come up that some
men have been mistakenly executed for crimes they did not commit. (Love, 2013) After learning about
these mistakes that the law has made and continues to make, it is petrifying to know that the majority
of people are blinded by sorrow and justice, that they exclude the truth and facts from their
knowledge. If they were to take into consideration its inaccuracy shown many times over, they would
agree on suspending the use of the death penalty as a punishment for

Many pieces of literature are written each year, and each year dedicated high school students come
together to read any type of literature ranging from plays, poetry, graphic novels to podcasts. Out of
all the pieces of literature the students read, the students will debate which piece they believe is best.
Once all these pieces are chosen, an anthology is created, The Best American Nonrequired Reading

pieces of writing divide a literary team (Snicket xii). Literary pieces divide people in their opinions

readers do not interpret the narrator as depressed, they may say that narrator did not say anything
because she did not know what to say, and writing this essay was enough to speak out.
Essays found in the anthology are compelling because of the way certain concepts were expressed in
the essays. The authors do not fully give away what happens after the essay or what each thing
symbolizes. These pieces give the readers a sense of mystery. When a sense of mystery is given,
people are able to debate what happens in the piece. The essay, The Body by A.T Grant is a great
example of this because when a reader first reads

Domestic Violence And Social Learning Theories
Domestic Violence is a very important issue to look at for people in the relationships as well for the
children. When children see certain behaviors, they see it as normal even though it may not be normal
to other people who did not grow up in an abusive home. The theory that can be used for children who
have been in a domestic violence situation is social learning theory. The social learning theory was
discovered by Albert Bandura in 1977 (McLeod, 2011). Albert Bandura corresponds with the
behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning (McLeod, 2011). However, he adds
two important ideas: mediating processes occur between stimuli and responses and behavior is learned
from the environment through the process of observational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Charlie was playing with toys on the floor, his mother noticed a very aggressive behavior
toward those toys, so she called the doctor to make sure that it was normal for her child to show that
behavior after the video. The four basic principles of social learning are attention, retention,
reproduction, and motivation (Wheeler, 2014). People learn better when they are focused on a task, if
seeing something being done differently or unusual, then it tends to strike the attention of that person
who is focused (Wheeler, 2014). Retention is affecting information in our memories that people recall
later when needed to respond to a situation that is the same as the first learned information (Wheeler,
2014). Reproducing prior learned information practices a mental and physical preparation that
improves our responses from the that learned information (Wheeler, 2014). Motivation initiates from
observation of others being rewarded or punished for things they have said or done in the past

C Src Essay
c SRC, or also known as the proto oncogene, is a non receptor tyrosine kinase (nRTK). nRTKs most
important function is the transfer of phosphate groups. Src is activated by many different interactions,
including those with RTKs, immune response receptors and cytokine receptors. In the paper, Src is
activated by recruitment to the RTK EphA2. The specific roles of each SRC kinase is not very clear as
a lot of them have similar functions, however, as it activates in relation to the activity of different
proteins its functions are also pretty diverse. It is known to be involved with immune response,
apoptosis, transformation, cell cycle progression, and gene transcription among other things. The
discovery of c SRC was prefaced by an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A year later, they found that the src was kinase and was responsible for phosphorylation. Scientists
then started to ponder the origin of the v src. They were curious as to whether the viruses had inserted
transforming genes into their genome or if they had picked up cellular genes. In order to see whether
they picked up this src as a cellular gene, a cDNA probe for src was prepared and was hybridized to
avian DNA. They found these sequences were, in fact, detected in the avian DNA. This brought them
to the conclusion that they were from cellular origin and not viral origin. At this point, they termed the
c src. It is known as the proto oncogene to distinguish them from the previously coined oncogenes that
were suggested by earlier scientists as well as to highlight that these genes were not viral transforming
genes but instead were only transforming when mutated. As seen in these tumors, it is clear that c src
can be involved with cancer. It had been observed on several occasions that in abnormal tissues as
well as cancer cells the level the c src protein as well as kinase are elevated and furthermore that these
levels continue to increase as the level of disease progresses. There was a clear correlation between c
src activity and cancer development. In breast cancer, they found that the c Src when overexpressed is
activated by HER1 interactions and this is what causes the high kinase activity in the cancer cells. As

Apathy And Its Effects On Society
Apathy Indifferent. Detached. Desolate from any kind of emotion. This is how one feels when apathy
sneaks its way into their brain. Everything they have ever felt becomes a vague and distant memory, a
vast void. There is nothing that can be done, so it seems to the individual. This leaves him/her quite
helpless. And more often than not, the phrases I don t care! , Why does it even matter? , and It isn t
important are overlooked and are labeled rebellious. But should those phrases not spark a greater
concern? It must be terrifying to view a human being who carries on their lives with lassitude.
Whether or not they know wrong from right, their lack of care and concern instigates negative
consequences from loved ones and society. When one is empty of emotions, there is nothing stopping
them from doing wrong, but there is certainly nothing stopping them from doing right. The notion that
apathetic human beings need supervision, due to fear, needs to be reevaluated. This concern for those
with apathy must be aimed at the reason why. This way, individuals will have a greater understanding
of a realm that is so vastly hollow. Half way through this essay s first paragraph, I had stopped caring
and I had told myself it had not mattered and continued to sit in this very seat, just staring at my
laptop. It was a very foolish thing to tell myself, as I had barely begun to type up this assignment. But
why had I become apathetic, what were my reasons? One does not simply stop

Free Ridership Research Paper
1. What is the most significant thing you learned in today s class? In today s class, the most significant
concept which caught my attention was the free ridership in international organizations. In fact, the
issue is one which is very concerning as several countries in NATO have fallen short of fulfilling their
commitment to the alliance which has weakened the capability of NATO. Also, Canada might soon be
falling into the free rider category as we have not decided on what our commitment to UN
peacekeeping missions would look like. (Note, I have studied bandwagoning, but not free ridership).

Stereotyping
Stereotype is used around the world, it does not matter if it s a joke or to insult someone, it is still
stereotyping someone or a specific group of people. Can someone actually say that he/she never heard
of someone using stereotypes words toward some other individual? Most likely not. I m Chinese but

that positive characteristics of intelligence and self discipline, can lead either to positive attitudes such
as admiration and respect or to negative attitudes related to threat. Chinese are often considered a

disciplined, serious, and traditional, traits, which contribute positively to society, but Asians are most
often considered to be highly competent but cold. These stereotypes may lead non Asian Americans to

Clockwork Orange Nadsat
Imagine a violence filled society where young gangsters run rampant and crime is at every corner. A
Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess, presents a futuristic society where ordinary people find
themselves the targets of violent crime. Among these gangsters is fifteen year old Alex and his band of
droogs. Alex and his gang of troublemakers spend their days robbing and beating up innocent men and
women they encounter, all while assuming they are invincible to the consequences that could come.
However, Alex s actions catch up with him one day when he is imprisoned for assaulting a woman.
While incarcerated, Alex is the test subject of an experiment intended to revoke his love of violence.
The experiment is successful; however, it revokes not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon first reading the novel, one may find it difficult to understand Alex s slang heavy language. This
language, known as Nadsat, represents a Russian influence in Alex s society. Burgess was able to hear
the language spoken first hand upon traveling to the Soviet Union. There, he was able to refine a
simple yet plausible Slavic vocabulary... to revise and complete A Clockwork Orange (Biswell 238).
Nadsat is mainly spoken by teen troublemakers, such as Alex, because it cannot be understood by
mainstream society. The language, in a way, also encourages violence with unique derogatory terms
regarding women and rape (Goh 1). Upon understanding the language spoken by Alex, one can further
understand his actions and the way in which he is influenced by his surroundings and the rest of
society. Goh continues to explain how the use of language in this novel makes a statement about the
individual s (Alex s) struggle... for authenticity under dystopian conditions of social control (1). This
so called social control is consistent with what Burgess may have seen in the Soviet Union and
presents a motive for the way he portrayed the government in the novel. As Alex speaks, the reader
can infer that he has been given no choice but to become the vicious criminal that he is. This, in turn,
makes the reader feel a certain sympathy towards him despite the despicable nature of his crimes. Also
creating a unique theme of sympathy is the use of Alex as a first person narrator. As a first person
narrator, one can see Alex s innermost thoughts and experience life as he lives it. Alex often describes
his crimes in a humorous and intimate manner, as stated in the article A Clockwork Orange (1). John
Tilton further continues this idea by explaining how Burgess creates emotion in Alex through his
poetic language

Stereotypes In Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is a coming of age novel written by Charlotte Brontë. Jane challenges the stereotypes of
women in the Victorian era. Every time she rebels, she is faced with a consequence that helps shape
the person she is later on. The integrity that is reflected through her character shows that the love she
finds in the end is completely worth it, considering she is finally content.
An example of Jane challenging expectations of Victorian women would be when she says, No. St.
John, I will not marry you. I adhere to my resolution. Women were assumed to desire marriage. . .
(British Library 7). An additional Victorian stereotype is that Women are supposed to be very calm. . .
(British Library 8) Jane challenges this stereotype when she is reading a book at Gateshead Hall. Her
cousin John starts a fight and throws a book at her. Jane couldn t take it anymore and had to stand up
for herself. Wicked and cruel boy! I said. You are like a murderer you are like a slave driver. . .
(Bronte 13) You can see that in Jane s character, she is a determined woman; she won t let the men
walk all over her. (Everything Jane Eyre 4) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jane was shown disapproval, but that was what motivated her to keep spreading her belief. The nature
of the consequence modifies the person s tendency to change or repeat the actions in the future.
(Analysis of Jane Eyre 3) After the scene of Jane yelling at her cousin John, she was locked into the
red room which was a remote room of which Mr. Reed died. This room made Jane realize that if she
did not encase her emotions at certain times, she will have to suffer even worse punishments. But
when you see the bigger picture you realize that this consequence leads to the development of Jane s
maturity and her better understanding for her place in

Essay on The Author to Her Book by Anne Bradstreet
The Author to Her Book by Anne Bradstreet
In The Author to Her Book, Bradstreet is inundated in indecision and internal struggles over the
virtues and shortfalls of her abilities and the book that she produced. As human beings we associate
and sympathize with each other through similar experiences. It is difficult to sympathize with
someone when you don t know where they are coming from and don t know what they are dealing
with. Similar experiences and common bonds are what allow us to extend our sincere appreciation and
understanding for another human being s situation. In this poem an elaborate struggle between pride
and shame manifests itself through an extended metaphor in which she equates her book to her own
child.

She says that the child had been by her side until snatched from thence by friends, less wise than true
(line 3). Basically she is saying a trusted person snatched her work from her without permission to
take them to England to be printed. Had it not been for her brother in law taking her work back to
England and getting them printed they may have never been known. The intimacy and feeling she
shares with her work is like that of a mother and child and that bond was infringed upon when her
work was exposed to public view (line 4). The intrusion of her brother in law getting her work printed
is the cause of feeling that follow. Ironically the next thing she talks is the shame she has been thrust
upon her by not being able to perfect the work before it was published. This is illustrated in line five
where she writes, Made thee in rags, as to say her work is like a child dressed in rags.
In lines six through nine Bradstreet associates the embarrassment she feels due to her unperfected
work to the embarrassment a parent feels due to an irritable child. She feels ashamed that the errors
were not lessened (line 6) before the work was printed and refers to it as a rambling brat who is one
unfit for light (line 8 9) because her child was taken from her before she had time to prepare it to go
out into the world. She is

Chosen news/article: Government targets 1 crore consumers to give up LPG subsidy PTI Mar 29,
2015, 02.47PM IST, The Economic Times
1. Summary
Under the scheme, LPG cylinders are sold at market rates across the country. Consumers get Rs 558 in
their bank accounts so that they can buy LPG at the market rate of Rs 605 per 14.2 kg cylinder.
There is a strand of thought that in India the incomes of most consumers remain far below the global
average, and, therefore, it is the government s responsibility to pay for those who cannot afford.
Government expects that about one crore well off consumers will surrender the subsidy on cooking
gas after Prime Minister Narendra Modi s appeal to people not to take subsidy if they can afford to
buy LPG at market price.
This money can be used for schools and providing medical facilities. I appeal to people who can
afford LPG cylinders at market price, please do not take subsidised LPG, the Indian Prime Minister
said. 2. Background:
In fiscal year 2014 15 (to date) there have been no significant increases in the retail price of subsidized
LPG. On10th November 2014 it was reported that the per cylinder subsidy would be fixed at Rs 568
from March 2015 an amount Rs 163.36 above the average per cylinder under recovery recorded in
early October 2014.
Though the government has started DBT for LPG subsidy, the document pointed that the bottom 50

destructive cult is a rigidly structured absolutist group usually under an authoritarian, charismatic

  • 2. Julian Of Norwich And The Church Little is known about Julian of Norwich. She does, however, state that in May 1373, at the age of 30, she became gravely ill and on the brink of death. It was during this illness God granted her a series of 16 visions that were rooted in a vivid awareness of Christ s passion. These visions were later recorded in two texts, which are commonly known as the Short Text and the Long Text or as A Vision and A Revelation. The former can be dated to 1370 80 and the later composed in 1390 1400. To understand Julian and her theological account of her visions it is important to recognize the state of the church during this era as well as its probable influence this had on her life and works. In the 13th century the church was very much in the midst of a tension between the church defined as ecclesiastical hierarchy and the church defined as a community of believers. That is to say that there was a growing gap between the church s forms and formulas and the beliefs of its members. In broad terms, Christianity tended to become more and more clerical whereas lay society tended to become more religious which generated an increase in the number of spiritual initiatives. Also during this time there was great anxiety amongst lay people over issues of sin, death, and a desire for security of the soul. This was perhaps the most common and burdensome anxiety of the Middle Ages. The doctrine of purgatory, however effective it may have been in providing consolation and hope it also caused great ... • 3. Literature Review Of High Flow Nasal Cannula Literature Review High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has become a safe, useful therapy in many types of patients with respiratory failure, improving oxygenation and comfort levels. Oxygen therapy is the main treatment for hypoxemic respiratory failure and has been delivered via nasal prongs or masks. The maximum flow rates that these devices can deliver are limited due to the insufficient heat and humidity provided to the gas that s being administered. It s accepted that flow rates up to 15 L/min can be delivered using conventional nasal prongs or masks, and even high flow tubing, but this flow is far lower than the inspiratory flow of a patient with acute respiratory failure. Room air dilutes the supplemental oxygen, resulting in a significant decrease in the fraction of the inspired oxygen (FIO2) that finally reaches the air sacks in the lungs, called alveoli. Many different HFNC devices are available, but the technique always involves the delivery of a totally conditioned (37 °C containing 44 mg H2O/L [100 % relative humidity]) gas admixture via a wide bore and soft nasal prong up to 60 L/min, with a fraction of inspired oxygen ranging from 0.21 to 1 (21% to 100%). (Roca, 2016). HFNC oxygen therapy is a very effective modality for the early treatment of adults with respiratory failure with diverse underlying diseases. Physiological effect High flow with optimally heated and humidified gas is thought to have a variety of physiological effects. Gas from an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. National Honor Society Personal Statement Essay National Honor Society Personal Statement I have always had an interest in improving the community around us, and would like to be involved in this role by helping out in the community. By joining NHS, I aspire to enhance some of my skills, such as ambition, collaboration, and leadership. I hope to increase my initiative to provide service in the community and to take chances out of my comfort zone. By helping out in the community more with service projects I hope to improve my collaborative, management and people skills. In addition, I hope to improve my leadership skills through public service projects. These projects will not only give me more experience with leadership, but they will also motivate me to help my community and my peers with their endeavors. I believe that joining the National Honor Society at River Hill will teach me essential skills for my future, and improve my community. Learning is the single most important aspect of any school education. Being able to retain the content and apply the information is much more important than simply memorizing facts. Earlier this year, I had initially started to take a certain class that would not benefit me in the future, and instead create an abundance amount of stress for me, as I had no interest in taking that course and was merely taking it to fit the norms of other students. Soon after, I realized that taking a different class that actually interested me would be more beneficial, and thus I would be able to focus on my other courses of high levels. This switch genuinely allows me to develop a much higher level of commitment for my other classes and help me retain the information for future purposes. A leader takes diligent time in considering the ability to adhere to other people s interests and presents their followers with a positive mindset. This summer, I accepted an invitation to participate in the Dale Carnegie Young Adult Leadership Program. Attendees of this program learned several skills that can be applied to future experiences, especially on how to become an effective leader. Everyday, the attendees acted as leaders by accomplishing various tasks that forced them to reach out of their comfort zones. We acted as leaders by leading group ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Economic Factors Of Slave Labor In The 1600s In America In Virginia, the Chesapeake Bay area during the 1600s the slave community evolved over a long period of time. Problems occurred regarding their labor that had an important influence on the switch to a society dominated by slave labor. During the 1600s labor in the Chesapeake shifted to slave society because of a shift in culture, economic issues, and frustrations of the tobacco market boom. Each of these reasons all relates back to the labor problem the colonists were facing in Virginia. As mentioned above, one of the reasons that shifted the Chesapeake Bay area into a slave society was a shift in culture. In the early decades, people s economic status was an important identifier for what benefits they could receive, or what they could and could not do. Later in the century, this all changes. Anthony Johnson, who is African, arrives in the Chesapeake in 1621. When Anthony arrived, he was considered unfree and worked in a tobacco field with both whites and blacks since at this time economic status was still the main identifier for individuals. Anthony Jackson was considered an unusual or lucky man for many reasons. In fact, some of the reasons that made him incredibly lucky was that he did not die from diseases unlike other people in the Chesapeake, he finds a female companionship who also survives, and in 1630 Anthony buys both his and his wife s freedom. In addition, another unusual thing about Anthony was that in 1640 he becomes a plantation owner. Strangely enough, on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ability to hit a baseball three hundred plus feet, that s coming at you at speeds greater than 85 mph, is hard to attain. Now imagine trying to catch a ball that s coming at the same speeds, not so easy now right? Apart from the physical abilities needed to play, the mental part of the game is also important. The game of baseball is similar to life if you re not prepared physically and mentally to go about your business you won t succeed. I ve been playing baseball since I let out my first cries. For me baseball is a battleground. The side that is better prepared and executes well is the one who usually wins. Just like how you don t go out to war without any training, the same goes for baseball you don t go and just play baseball. Practice in general is important for anything that you do; it allows you to experience a situation during a time where it s not important. I can t recall a time where I didn t practice and performed during a game. Baseball has taught me that if I want to succeed you have to prepare yourself. It doesn t just happen. • 12. Implicit Cost Of An Explicit Cost Essay A) Explicit costs are expenses/payments that are actually made and frequently recorded. They mirror payment for a business transaction such as salaries, rent, and utilities.(OpenStax Economics, 2016). Implicit costs being intangible are not frequently recorded. This sort of cost mirrors a potential opportunity, advantages, or points of interest that may have happened in a given circumstance. (OpenStax Economics, 2016) EXAMPLES OF WHEN AN EXPLICIT COST IS DIFFERENT FROM AN IMPLICIT COST 1. Implicit costs are expenses connected with utilizing a company s fixed assets and resources already owned without paying to utilize those assets. They are opportunity expenses or costs that originate from utilizing internal resources instead of leasing or renting them, with the organization surrendering the chance to profiting from the use of those assets and resources so utilized. Cases of Implicit cost include entrepreneurs renouncing getting a pay, or using their own space for business purposes freely as opposed to leasing it to earn more income. • 13. Independence From The Colonial Rule their independence from the colonial rule. In this essay I am going to explain neo colonialism, assess the current conditions of the Democratic Republic of Congo while assessing if whether or not it fits under the description of Neo colonialism. Colonialism (old colonial regime) versus Neo colonialism Africa with all its blessings in mineral resources has sadly been a victim of the atrocities imposed by the world towards it. It is often said that colonisation can be viewed as a process that shaped the African continent s destiny in every way. According to Horvath (1972: 47) colonialism refers to the practice of inter group domination in which settlers migrate to the colony from the colonizing power. Colonialism in this sense can be seen as a way of exercising power unjustly, towards those who are less powerful, which in this case are the African countries. Power in this sense can be seen as a force that allows the settlers or rather the colonial powers to have the authority to claim and use land that does not belong to them for their own benefits. For Horvath (1972: 48) when it comes to the economy, colonialism can be seen as a form of exploitation, through it exploiting the resources of the colonies for their own economic advancement. Colonialism then was a harsh system that robbed Africans off their natural resources. Neo colonialism on the other hand, is often referred to as a policy that makes use of ... • 14. Mary Queen Of Scots Summary Lauren Lefevers World history Tyler Johnson 27 November 2017 Mary Queen of Scots The book I chose to read was Mary Queen of Scots. The author of this book is Sally Stepanek. The book was published by Chelsea House Publishers in 1987 with a total of 110 pages. The book is about Mary Stuart and her life as a queen and also as a prisoner. It tells of the hardships she had went through and the good times too. To me the book mostly over sees the hardships Mary had went through. Like having to leave her home land when she was an infant to having her throne taken away by her own son that disowned her. She had three husbands that all left her as a widow. While the book is about Mary s life it also tells a lot about others too. I did not like the book because I felt as though it was repetitive in some parts and also it was not as interesting as I thought it was going to be. I do believe that if people besides me that were interested in it, it would be very successful book, but to me I would not purchase or read this book again. Second of all, the book is all about Mary s life from birth to her unfair death. The author often tells about the fighting between the Protestants and Catholic Church. It also tells of her three husbands and her many lovers threw her life. The important conclusions is that Mary was Queen of France and Queen of Scots, also how she was tried for treason and the murder of her second husband Lord Darnley. Also there was a battle over the infant Queen with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since The Odyssey was written nearly a thousand years after The Epic of Gilgamesh I wondered what other influences were incorporated into The Odyssey. It s mentioned within the Gods and Goddesses Documentary that Greece was constantly adapting its religious views as a result of the constant invasions and cultural diffusion between other Ancient civilizations at that time. The video then further states that the gods and goddesses of Greek culture are not solely created by the Greeks themselves, but the people who migrate and assimilate into their culture as well. The Aryans being another influence, brought along their language and religion. The Aryans were arguably the biggest influence on Greek culture due to their access to trade routes with kingdoms of the east which include Mesopotamia and Egypt. The plot of Odysseus is common among the ancient traditions that influence Greek culture: The story of the hero who is dishonored and avenges himself on his own companions, and the story of the hero whose wife is best by other men while he is away on his adventures, so that he must return in time to reclaim her and take his vengeance, (Griffin, ... Banning Capital Punishment in the United States Essay Banning the use of capital punishment in the United States Capital punishment (the death penalty) is a legal procedure which is known as the most severe punishment where the law authorizes execution as a punishment for criminals (Gerald, 2008). Many people claim that allowing such a punishment will help decrease the crime rate, and also give closure to the victim s family, but if you as American citizens analyze this situation in more detail you can see that taking a life for taking a life is more of a personal matter than justice. When comparing the states that allow capital punishment with the states that have abolished it, the crime rate does not differ. Hence, those who argue that death row has a positive effect on making criminals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2008 murder rate in death penalty states was 41% higher than the non death penalty states, 2009 the murder rate was 35% higher than the non death penalty states (Cooper, 2011). As you can see capital punishment had no influence on preventing criminals from doing illegal acts. Therefore, all of the work and energy that goes into executing a criminal in the name of justice is illogical and ineffective. It is argued that most people who support capital punishment are the families of the victims. In their eyes execution is revenge, but how can you trust a system that is not always correct? Would taking a life of another stop criminals and lower the crime rate, or would it bring the victims back to life? In most cases the answer is no. Moreover, it appears that the legal system is not always accurate, and that innocent people have been executed and convicted. Over 142 men and women have been discharged from the death row over the past 40 years. Also in the past four years evidence has come up that some men have been mistakenly executed for crimes they did not commit. (Love, 2013) After learning about these mistakes that the law has made and continues to make, it is petrifying to know that the majority of people are blinded by sorrow and justice, that they exclude the truth and facts from their knowledge. This essay suggests that the narrator is drowning, Looking back, I wonder why all of us who were subject to my grandfather s assaults me, my sisters, my cousins, and my mother, her sister, their cousins before us didn t display more unmistakable signs of distress (Morgan 322). This quote suggests that the narrator feels like she is drowning, because the author states that drowning is quiet, and that is what the narrator doing, keeping quiet by not saying anything. Readers could interpret the drowning swimmers as depressed people or the swimmers in distress as the people who experience temporary panic, like students panicking over an essay. The swimmers in distress are the people who panic over something that will eventually pass, because they feel as if there is hope for them. If readers do not interpret the narrator as depressed, they may say that narrator did not say anything because she did not know what to say, and writing this essay was enough to speak out. Essays found in the anthology are compelling because of the way certain concepts were expressed in the essays. The authors do not fully give away what happens after the essay or what each thing symbolizes. These pieces give the readers a sense of mystery. When children see certain behaviors, they see it as normal even though it may not be normal to other people who did not grow up in an abusive home. The theory that can be used for children who have been in a domestic violence situation is social learning theory. The social learning theory was discovered by Albert Bandura in 1977 (McLeod, 2011). People learn better when they are focused on a task, if seeing something being done differently or unusual, then it tends to strike the attention of that person who is focused (Wheeler, 2014). Retention is affecting information in our memories that people recall later when needed to respond to a situation that is the same as the first learned information (Wheeler, 2014). Src is activated by many different interactions, including those with RTKs, immune response receptors and cytokine receptors. In the paper, Src is activated by recruitment to the RTK EphA2. The specific roles of each SRC kinase is not very clear as a lot of them have similar functions, however, as it activates in relation to the activity of different proteins its functions are also pretty diverse. It is known to be involved with immune response, apoptosis, transformation, cell cycle progression, and gene transcription among other things. The discovery of c SRC was prefaced by an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A year later, they found that the src was kinase and was responsible for phosphorylation. Scientists then started to ponder the origin of the v src. They were curious as to whether the viruses had inserted transforming genes into their genome or if they had picked up cellular genes. In order to see whether they picked up this src as a cellular gene, a cDNA probe for src was prepared and was hybridized to avian DNA. They found these sequences were, in fact, detected in the avian DNA. This brought them to the conclusion that they were from cellular origin and not viral origin. At this point, they termed the c src. It is known as the proto oncogene to distinguish them from the previously coined oncogenes that were suggested by earlier scientists as well as to highlight that these genes were not viral transforming genes but instead were only transforming when mutated. As seen in these tumors, it is clear that c src can be involved with cancer. It had been observed on several occasions that in abnormal tissues as well as cancer cells the level the c src protein as well as kinase are elevated and furthermore that these levels continue to increase as the level of disease progresses. There was a clear correlation between c src activity and cancer development. In breast cancer, they found that the c Src when overexpressed is activated by HER1 interactions and this is what causes the high kinase activity in the cancer cells. As ... And more often than not, the phrases I don t care! , Why does it even matter? , and It isn t important are overlooked and are labeled rebellious. But should those phrases not spark a greater concern? It must be terrifying to view a human being who carries on their lives with lassitude. When one is empty of emotions, there is nothing stopping them from doing wrong, but there is certainly nothing stopping them from doing right. The notion that apathetic human beings need supervision, due to fear, needs to be reevaluated. This concern for those with apathy must be aimed at the reason why. This way, individuals will have a greater understanding of a realm that is so vastly hollow. Every time she rebels, she is faced with a consequence that helps shape the person she is later on.
