The Relations Between China And The Democratic Republic Of...
Introduction The trajectory of global politics has dramatically changed after the end the World War II
and after the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. In fact, many countries around the globe became
economically competitive, politically stable, and culturally optimistic. As the result, many nations
started affirming themselves on the global arena while others continued to struggle internally and
beyond the borders. The combinations of these factors have perhaps led to interdependency.
Globalization has played a significant role in bringing nations together. In order to advance their
interests, share their common experience, and overcome their weaknesses, states constantly engage in
bilateral or multilateral relationships. The bilateral relationships between China and the Democratic
Republic of Congo obey to these dynamic trends. The People s Republic of China and the Democratic
Republic of Congo enjoy stable diplomatic relations although there have been an increasing economic
interests for one another since 1973.
Background
The People s Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Formerly Zaire) established
their diplomatic relationships in 1973 during an official visit to Beijing by Mubuto. Since, there have
been intensifications despite the internal turmoil on each side. Before 1973 however, relations with
China became rocky when Zaire obtained its independence in 1960 from Belgium and established
relations with Taiwan. As the result, the angry China

This literature review is focusing on the methods for recycling waste tyres particularly that of TDF
(tyre derived fuels) as well as other methods utilised globally. Currently in Australia approximately
52.5 million waste tyres are produced annually with an estimated 13% being recycled through
processes that involve separating the steel and rubber and using the resulting components for various
other products or reusing the tyres for a number of construction projects as well as being utilised as a
TDF. Currently the tyres that are not recycled are disposed of as inert landfill, referring to the fact that
they don t decompose due to the way tyres are designed to be durable to function efficiently. There

Alternatively tyres can be recycled through civil engineering projects. These include projects such as
paving, erosion control and retaining walls. Tyres utilised in retaining walls are typically a complete
tyre that has been separated into halves prior to being filled with aggregate to increase the structural
integrity of the tyre before being placed in a number of possible configurations. The tyres, once they
are in their final configuration, can then be coated with a number of finishing products, ranging from
shotcrete to timber, to give a desired appearance. The construction method of these walls can vary
from a gravity supported system, where in the wall retains the earth through the physical weight of the
wall itself, to fully reinforced where further reinforcement is used to obtain the desired strength and
stability. It is common practice in construction of slabs for residential and commercial buildings to use
permanent internal formwork, which is the use of nonconcrete materials to reduce the material costs
when pouring the slab. Common practice is to use polystyrene blocks to offset the amount of concrete
used however it is possible to utilise tyres in the place of polystyrene blocks furthermore it is possible
to use site generated waste that would require to be disposed of using other means. Using tyres in road
and paving construction is ideal for use in areas where the existing strata is of too poor quality to meet
the required

The Contribution Of Social Marketing
Definition To lay the basis of critically assessing and outlining the contribution of social marketing to
contemporary marketing thinking, I should first define the possibly obscure meaning of the particular
type of commerce. The initial definition depicts social marketing as the design, implementation and
control of programs calculated to influence the acceptability of social ideas and involving
considerations of product planning, pricing, communication, distribution and marketing research
(Kotler and Zaltman, 1971, p. 5). In Marketing Social Marketing in the Social Change Marketplace
Alan R. Andreasen argues that the given definition does not outline the essence social behavioural
change. In his words, the acceptance of an idea alone does not guarantee the success of influencing
behaviour. The latest interpretation of ISMA solves that problem by stating the outcome explicitly.
(2013). Furthermore, the whole discipline is currently defined as a process that analyses a problem and
gives a solution that answers to the customer s requirements profitably (CIM definition). Companies
use it for raising their income, organisations popularise an activity, etc. It follows that what makes
social marketing unique is its purpose. While any other branch of marketing aims personal benefit, the
ultimate purpose of social marketing is the welfare of the society. Normally the change is either to 1)
accept a new behaviour, 2) reject unwanted potential behaviour, 3) modify

Tecumseh Thesis
A brave and fearless man has finally fallen. The remarkable man was known as Tecumseh, son of the
Chief Pucksinwah. During the Battle of Thames, a stray bullet found its mark, embedding into his hip.
He was fighting for justice, against the oppression of Native Americans. It was his calling in life to
defend his homeland, land that The Great Spirit gave to his Red children. He made it his duty to
protect his people from the Americans ill intentions. He devoted his time toward this goal, and even
when he drew his last breath, his focus never wavered.
At the tender age of six, Tecumseh grieved the loss of his father. His father was a seasoned warrior, a
leader, a man to look up to. He died fighting, a hero s death, during the Battle of Point Pleasant. He
fought to keep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, Tecumseh rejected British help, but when he realized that it was needed, he looked to them for
guns and other necessities to combat the invaders. He fought in many battles before he met his demise,
including the Battles of Brownstown, Fallen Timbers, Fort Stephenson, and Frenchtown. Likewise, he
participated in the Sieges of Detroit and Fort Meigs. During Tecumseh s War, he fought for his
homeland, which later carried over into the War of 1812. His mutual nemesis was William Henry
Harrison, who, when he was gone, attacked and burned Prophetstown.
In his final battle, Tecumseh fought alongside the Creeks. It was during this battle that a bullet hit him,
wounding him severely. He died soon after, at the age of 45. It is not certain who the bullet belonged
to, but many claim to have extinguished Tecumseh s light. Without Tecumseh, his people no longer
offered resistance to the American encroachment. Tecumseh was survived by his two sons,
Naythawaynah and Mahyawwekawpaese and by his siblings. While the mighty warrior no longer

Water Imagery Of Nawal El Saadawi s Woman At Point Zero...
Diving into the deeper meaning: Water imagery in Nawal El Saadawi s Woman at Point Zero
Water, specifically the ocean, is a highly important symbol in Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El
Saadawi. Through various forms of water, ranging from the vast ocean to a glass of water, El Saadawi
explores power represented though water. Through water and green imagery, she examines the ideas
of rebirth and female power, ultimately resulting in character evolution, depicted through water
imagery symbolizing power and its transfer. While water imagery is representative of renewal and
baptism throughout the novel, the water imagery is also used to represent power and depicts character
evolution throughout the book, giving insight into how Firdaus changes throughout Woman at Point
Zero. El Saadawi uses ocean imagery in contrast to smaller, confined bodies of water to work toward
the reader s understanding of the conflicting positions of power. Through this technique, there is a
clear contrast between the different meanings conveyed by water throughout the text enhancing the
original metaphor presented. Water and sea imagery is used to represent power within the novel. After
escaping from her husband, Firdaus describes drowning in a sea of people, stating: The street was an
endless expanse stretched out before my eyes like a sea. I was just a pebble thrown into it, battered by
the waves (60). After a while, she gets tired and wants fresh water. Here, the different varieties of
water, the

Venus Retrogrades
From March 6 to April 15, 2017, Venus will go retrograde and this could mean a new type of love
based relationship in your life. However, from a cosmic perspective, this could potentially turn into
other problems that you have not expected. In other words, this not a time for you to change the status
of relationships or transition into new ones. This is basically the time to revaluate any commitment or
relationship you are currently in. Avoid making any decisions or sudden actions until April 15th which
is when the retrograde ends. A problem that you could face during retrograde is to figure out whether
or not you value certain relationships or people in your life. Take this month or so to better understand
your needs, wants and how

Compare And Contrast Modern Day And Renaissance
Modern Day vs. Renaissance Medical Practices
A man walked out of the doctors office, he had just been told that he had an incurable kind of cancer,
and was given 15 years to live. Most people who had this cancer didn t know they had it until it was
too late, this man was lucky. The doctors wouldn t have been able to do this without the advancement
in technology, machines, etc. That man was my grandpa, and he is still living with that cancer. The
medicine and technology used to diagnose my grandpa was prefaced by the medical advancements of
the Renaissance. Although being a doctor during the Renaissance period would ve been a life
changing experience, being a doctor in modern time would be far superior. Modern doctors are

There have been many advances in the medical field such as; anesthesia, drugs, machines, etc. This
has helped the doctors find alternative solutions to problems, and in return has helped them save more
lives. In the article Medicine by Britannica, Many new advances in anesthesia, and these in turn
depend upon engineers who have devised machines and chemists produced new drugs. Other
operations are made possible by new materials, such as the alloys and plastics that are used to make
artificial hip and knee joints. Advances in the medical field have truly helped modern doctors. Without
the medicine, machines, technology they have now there s no way the doctors could have saved the
same amount of lives. As Brian Ward, the author of The Story of Medicine , states in his book, Despite
opposition, revolutionary scientists and doctors persevered and made some ground breaking
discoveries, (Ward 22). Even though the doctors during the Renaissance had little technology, they
still made discoveries that impacted the medical field. The discoveries made by the Renaissance
doctors were life saving. However, with the given technology that is commonly found in modern day
society doctors are able to impact the medical and scientific fields and by doing so, save more lives
than thought possible during the Renaissance. Within the article Medicine written by Britannica, it
shows the importance of, Many other developments in modern surgical treatment rest on a firm basis
of experimentation, often first in animals but also in humans; among them are Renal dialysis (artificial
kidney), arterial bypass operations, embryo implantation, and exchange transfusions. Although testing
on animals is cruel, it shows that modern doctors were not just experimenting on people. The modern
doctors had a thought process to reduce the amount of deaths due to

Tabernacle Baptist Church Summary
Mini Ethnography at Tabernacle Baptist Church I chose to do my religious ethnographic study at my
home church, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Tabernacle is
an 112 year old historic Black Baptist church located on the lower Northside of Youngstown
surrounded by a mixed income housing development, homeless shelter, Youngstown State University,
and St. Elizabeth s Hospital. I would say the average age of a Tabernacle member is 55 years old.
About 70% of the members at this church are middle class families. Until about five years ago, its
membership was almost exclusively middle class. There has seen an influx of membership in working
class individuals and students since the arrival of Tabernacle s young, vibrant pastor, Rev. Christopher
McKee, Jr., three years ago. The church is attentive to the needs of this demographic but remains true
to its historic Black Baptist church roots. The church previously struggled with this conundrum until it
came to the reality that an exclusivist mindset around worship is detrimental to the body of Christ
when it did not have a pastor for over three years. The church was dying because no one was welcome
to it and it did not have a leader. Though it was difficult, this reassessment was beneficial in making
Tabernacle more relevant and welcoming to the community it is blessed to serve. ... Show more

Conquering the Generation Gap
Renowned president, Franklin Roosevelt, once stated, There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To
some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. As generations come and go
like the tides, the ocean of differences between them becomes clearer. Older generations differ from
the current generation in their use of technology and their integration of educational methods. Older
generations did not have the technological advancements and opportunities that are available now, nor
did they have access to these technologies for educational purposes. Successful efforts are being made
each day to bridge the technological and educational gap.
One thing that has continued to advance steadily throughout history is technology. Generations pass as
technological knowledge increases. Although this is a fact the world has come to accept, it creates a
sea of barriers between generations that is difficult to overcome. Technology plays a crucial part in
society today, but that fact hasn t always held true. In past generations, such advanced technology
wasn t available or even discovered. Phones weren t portable, computers weren t a common sight in
homes, and the gathering of information required a trip to the library and hours of research. Today,
information is easily attainable by way of a computer or cell phone. In fact, hardly any effort is
required at all. The older generations are mistrustful and cautious of these new technologies, as well as
vastly uneducated,

Comparing The White Man s Burden And The Poisonwood Bible
Weighed down, overwhelmed, accountability, and responsibility. These are all aspects of having a
burden, but what exactly is the burden of a white man? Labor? Money? Extreme temperatures? No,
far from it actually. In the poem the White Man s Burden, Kipling portrays the Burden as having to
civilize the uncultured heathens of Africa. The family in The Poisonwood Bible have this particular
burden. However, the family is divided on how they think about this so called burden . These two
works of literature go together like peanut butter and jelly. They walk hand in hand to expose the
downfalls of colonialism and superiority. The Poisonwood Bible has a family that is sent to the Congo
to help the Congolese people by introducing them to the Christian faith. In The White Man s Burden,
it talks of civilizing the uncivilized or changing them. Just as the Price family is doing to the
Congolese people. However the question remains. Is it the family s job to civilize these people? Well,
many believe not. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

angry with Anatole or when the Congolese finally stand up to Nathan. The reader gets the feeling that

Economic Analysis of an Oligopoly Market Structure
1. Introduction
1a. Article Summary
In this article Michael Baker discusses the livelihood of small retailers in a market subjugated by the
financially dominant oligopolies, Woolworths and Coles. While the small independent retailers in
direct competition with Woolworths and Coles provide some competitive respite for consumers, as
they encourage competitive pricing, albeit predatory pricing, it is clear that Woolworths and Coles
control the supermarket industry in Australia, in the formation of a duopoly. It is evident that
Woolworths and Coles engage in predatory pricing in an attempt to eliminate independent retailers
from the market. This article discusses recent efforts made by the Australian government and the
Australian Competition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Woolworths and Coles would have agreements with farmers to supply exclusively to them, in
exchange for the firm purchasing all of their quality produce. Woolworths and Coles are also more
likely to be able to purchase products, including fruit and vegetables, for a cheaper price than small,
independent sellers, as they are purchasing in bulk. According to McKenzie (2002) No major supplier,
no matter how big or powerful they are, can afford to be offside, or out of favour, with Coles or
Woolworths .
Economies of scale give Woolworths and Coles an advantage over smaller retailers because, as a
result of their large scale production, they are able to produce at a lower average cost, allowing them
to sell goods to consumers at a lower price. This competitive pricing eventually forces smaller firms
out of the market, as they are unable to match the predatory pricing, due to a lack of economies of
scale.
Because Woolworths and Coles generally have homogenous products, they rely on a heavy use of
advertising, in order to avoid competitive pricing with each other. Oligopolies tend to avoid
competitive pricing at all costs, as the worst case scenario of this is a price war, which generally
cannot be escaped, resulting in one survivor, who goes on to become the monopolist.
It is evident that Woolworths and Coles are mutually interdependent, whereby each of the firms
pricing strategies relate to, and depend on, each

Influence Of The CSI Effect In Crime Scene Investigations
The CSI Effect

There is also the impact on the general public as a whole. For instance, those watch police
investigation dramas on television is generally their only source of knowledge on how the process
works. Individuals take information they already have, simplify the complexity of an issue, and derive
a steadfast conclusion (Stevens, 2010 pp. 6 7). What this means is that common people look at a
problem and make an instant resolution or in other words, make a prediction without knowing all the
evidence or going through the deductive process. Individuals see the repetition in the dramas leading
them to assume what is going to happen. The thoughts of these individuals are the ultimate building
blocks to the CSI Effect. What is has ultimately come down to is that the public has views shows that
have hypothetically solved real life cases before the actual cases have gotten to trial, so some jurors
believe they have gained insight from the media s amateur sleuthing (Ramsland, 2006, pp.

Introduction
The osmolarity of a solution is the concentration measured of a solute. To determine the concentration
of a solution, one must first understand what osmosis is and how it works. Osmosis is the spontaneous
passage or diffusion of water or other solvents through a semipermeable membrane according to the
Britannica Encyclopedia. The semipermeable membrane is one that blocks the passages of dissolved
substances such as solutes. This process, in more recent times, provides a more accurate study of how
water can diffuse across a cell membrane when water molecules have a high concentration to an area
in which they have a low concentration. It was originally studied in 1877 by plant physiologist,
Wilhelm, Pfeffer. (Britannica Encyclopedia 2015).
Osmosis is described in one of three ways when comparing more than one solution. The cell s external
and internal environment helps determine tonicity, which is defined as how the cell reacts to its
environment. When the cell s environment is equal in osmolarity to itself and there is no change, it is
considered an isotonic solution. When the environment has a higher osmolarity, shrinkage occurs and
it is considered a hypertonic solution. When the environment has a lower osmolarity, swellings occurs
and it is considered hypotonic.

The Ways Of Human Life
Life can be expressed in many different ways. It can be be expressed through song or word. But life in
general is all expressed by human beings the same way; by living, people express who they are and
what they stand for. People express their lives day by day without even knowing. People are all born,
people all live, and people all die. But the things in between are what make life yours. This is how
people live; this is how people exist. Thornton Wilder expresses the ways of human life and existence
in Our Town, and these perspectives can be linked into other poems, songs, or movies. In Lucinda
Matlock, Masters says this line that seems to tie into the ways of human life: And then I found David.
Life is just happening and along the way, you can meet people who change your life completely. They
can steal your heart and change your life and you as a person. It is very crazy of how one single
person can just come in and change your life like that, but it happens all the time. It can happen
anytime, anywhere. This can relate this back to Our Town by the scene where George and Emily are in
the ice cream parlor. They had been neighbors forever but had never seen each other in any other way.
But in that day, they went from just friends to being in love. After that, their lives were entirely
different. I m just an ordinary person. And that s OK. This is a quote from Hope Floats. This means
that you have to love and accept yourself to be able to live life to the

Francis tells Danforth that this is a mistake that his wife was a believer and held up the church, and

characters were to prideful to admit these actions were wrong. Secondly the jealousy inside this play
was one of the strongest roles to make the story what it was. Jealousy symbolizes how the trials started
and also why so many people were killed for false accusations. Characters such as Abigail had a huge

square through voting instead of using force. Their main tactic was to end democracy and have one
strong dictator, Hitler. They had tried democracy and it had failed. They may have gone from using
force to voting into power, but that still used intimidation to put fear into people to scare people into
supporting the Nazis, they acted like bullies. They tried to cause as much chaos as possible without
making it obvious it was them because chaos caused democracy to fail. The Nazis tactics were to try
and make it as obvious as they could they were carrying out their propaganda to try and deceive
people they were honest and true, and won more votes through this. Hitler was dedicated to careful
planning of his tactics to make sure everything would work, so the more power the Nazis had, the
more chance Hitler stood becoming Chancellor and one step closer to ruling Germany.
The Nazi ideas were often fanatical and eccentric, usually affecting a lot of people. The strongest idea
was most likely to be the strong hatred they had for

Free will vs. Determinism
Free will vs. determinism is an argument as complex, intertwined, and co dependent as nature vs.
nurture or the age old question of whether it was the chicken or the egg that came first. Philosophers
have contemplated the question for ages, and arrived at no satisfactory answer.
While considering which topic to address for this assignment, I posed the question of free will vs.
determinism to a philosopher friend, whose response was I don t care. He feels that the question is not
worth asking because it will not impact our actions anyway. Which ultimately makes him somewhat of
a determinist I suppose, though I m sure he would disapprove of being classified as such.
In the end, I settled on the topic of free will vs. determinism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Perhaps this is true, but it seems quite unsatisfying.
Determinism, on the other hand, does offer consolation in times of disappointment. You didn t get the
job you wanted? Unrequited love? Disfigured for life by a random act of violence? Something better
will come along. The Universe has a different plan for you. It was God s will. In the end though, these
platitudes are no more satisfying than the idea that we are completely free.
If everything we do is predetermined, then where is the incentive to reflect on ones actions, learn from
mistakes, or take initiative? What difference will it make if we prepare well for the interview if we are
the right fit for the organization, we ll get the job. Our soul mate, if it is our destiny to have one, will
find us. It is in God s plan that Dr. Phil s sister in law is disfigured for life, and it is not our place to
question His will.
If our behavior is determined by a compilation of preexisting circumstances beginning with birth, as
Skinner (text, pg. 153) and Freud (text, pg. 158) argue, then nothing we do can change the outcome of
a situation, and our behavior in any given situation is a product of every situation we have found
ourselves in previously.
Determinism is certainly comforting, especially when one does not want to take responsibility

The Perception Of Human Communication
Prejudice, Stereotype, and how they affect listening
Often humans form opinions about one another that may hinder them from listening to a particular
group or person effectively. Two ways listening can be impaired is by stereotypes and prejudices
formed before a certain person even expresses themselves nonverbally or verbally. According to the
book Fundamentals of Human Communication the word stereotype is defined as: Rigid and usually
negative assumptions about personal and social qualities of people who are members of a particular
social category. (G 10) Another scholarly source confirms this definition by stating that a stereotype is
a fixed or over generalized belief about a particular group or class of people. (Cardwell, 1996) Over
the years people describe types of communication as stereotypical because it allows a communicator
to judge the outcome of a conversation before it even occurs. Stereotypes can sometimes be viewed as
advantageous in certain situations because it allows a communicator to judge an outcome of a
situation based on past situations. For example, if a mother has talked to a doctor previously about
how to treat a cold and his advice worked well, chances are she will stereotype what will take place
the next time she has a cold and consults a doctor before it even happened. On the other hand, in this
case stereotyping can be bad when you assume what the other communicator is going to say or do,
prejudging the outcome, and you are wrong.

Enzymes Essays
Enzymes Enzymes are complex proteins that carry out essentially every chemical reaction in the
human body. Enzymes function as biological catalyst, regulating the rate at which chemical reactions
proceed without themselves being altered in the process.
In this particular experiment we recognized benzoquinone and examined two numbers of factors to
determine their effects on enzyme action. The factors were temperature and specificity (how
discriminating the enzyme is in catalyzing different potential substrates). The enzyme that we
examined was catechol oxidase also known as tyrosinase.
II. RESULTS

DISCUSSION
1. We know that the substrates of catechol oxidase are catechol and oxygen. The substrates react with
one another within the active site of the enzyme. The products formed by this reaction are
benzoquinone and water. In this exercise we mixed the ingredients, stirred them, and incubate them at
40°C. We formed in tube 2a the product benzoquinone, observed its color change, and established a
color intensity scale.
2. In our second exercise we determined the ability of the enzyme cathecol oxidase to catalyze the
oxidation of two different but structurally similar substrates: cathecol and hydroquinone. Examining
their chemical structure we noticed that both are ring structures with two hydroxyl groups attached.
The question was if the enzyme could also convert it to benzoquinone. We observed how
discriminating cathecol oxidise is for particular substrates by comparing the color intensity of the
solutions in each test tubes with the standards produced in the first section (Table 1). We recorded
them in Table 2.
After 10 min we recorded the color intensity in Table 3. Our conclusion was that cathecol is stronger
enzyme than hydroquinone and that the enzyme is simply too specific to interact with the similar but
not identical molecule.

The Rank Structure Of Any American Police Department
The rank structure of any American police department varies a bit, but the overall path of promotion
generally goes something like this (Police officer ranks, n.d.): Officer. This is where every police
officer starts off. The job consists of foot patrols, traffic stops, etc. Detective/Inspector. These officers
specialize in investigating crime scenes and often work as plainclothes officers. Sergeant. Sergeants
are in charge of supervising entire shifts for smaller departments and precincts in larger departments.
Lieutenant. These officers supervise a small group of sergeants, usually two or three, or may supervise
an entire shift or specific squad such as narcotics or homicide. Captain. Captains may supervise an
entire police station but may also cover a specific division or unit such as detectives or patrol officers.
Inspector/Commander. These officers may be a higher rank of detective or may be put in charge of
commanding certain divisions within larger departments. Deputy Chief of Police/Deputy
Commissioner. Deputy chiefs and commissioners are essentially the second in command within the
department. Their duties are typically all encompassing rather than focusing on a specific area and
they often share responsibility of some duties with their superior. Chief of Police/Police

Sandusky Scandal Analysis
The Sandusky scandal at Penn State affected many organizational functions for the esteemed
university and the impact covering illegal activity was intensified. The crisis negatively affected the
organization and its functions. Graham Spanier, Gary Schultz, Timothy Curley, and Joe Paterno had an
obligation to disclose the crimes of Sandusky (Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2013). These four men were
in management/leadership roles and their actions affected their respective departments, as well as

Abuse In America
The two kinds of abuse, physical and mental, can have dramatic affects on every individual. Physical
abuse is typically apparent, and easy to recognize. Slavery in America was considered a form of
physical abuse and it was easy to see through hangings, lashes, and brutality demonstrated that African
Americans were under physical abuse. Mental abuse, however, is often difficult to argue as bruises do
not show on one s arm from constant mistreatment through unequal pay, educational inequality, and
racism. Black Americans continue to face both kinds of abuse and are subjected to consistent
inequality. Because of the tone of one s skin, black Americans receive poor education and a lower

In 1861, when slavery was still prevalent, Harriet Jacobs introduces through the text, The Church and
Slavery, that men, women, and children were taught that they [were] rebellious sinners...[their] hearts

blacks were not able to stand up for themselves. Black individuals were not able to stop the abuse of

Mi5 s Double Cross System Analysis
During the course of the Second World War the Allied and Axis power engaged in a war of espionage,
that cemented the need for counter Intelligence and espionage units in a country s arsenal. Due largely
to the effectiveness of MI5 s Double Cross System in its deception of the Abwehr (German
Intelligence Agency during World War 2) and the successful nature of operation fortitude. As well as
German Spymaster Admiral Wilhelm Carnaris disbelief in Hitler s Ideologies, the British had a
victorious outcome in the intelligence war.
In the battle for supremacy effective counter espionage played a larger role in the Britain s success.

Operation Fortitude was the principle deception campaign intended to persuade the enemy that the
expected allied invasion of France would occur at Pas de Calais. A secondary objective was to convey
the impression that the landings in Normandy were merely a divisionary feint, which could be safely
ignored. The task of supplying this information rested with Juan Pujol (agent Garbo) who was highly
regarded by Abwehr (MI5 History, 2016). Operation fortitude became a textbook example of how
strategic deception should be conducted and captured documents demonstrated that the enemy was
duped not just about the date and place of the main allied offensive but even accepted that an entirely
fictional army The First US Army Group (FUSAG) had assembled in south east England in
anticipation of crossing the channel from dover. (BBC History, 2011). Sharma (2015, p.95)

The Germans accepted the claim as accurate. It deceived them so completely that through July and

My favorite quote from the movie is when Rocky Balboa says, The world ain t all sunshine and

knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. Even though it is not a feel good quote, it helped

Why aren t they the same thing?
The reason these two have separate insurance plans goes back to how dentistry was historically

With most cases, preventive dental care is free. In most health insurance plans, preventive care often

You can t get X rays every month. But you can still get routine care like X rays and cleanings without

Health insurance is required under ACA; dental care is not. The Affordable Care Act made health
insurance a requirement. If you do not have any, you have to pay more in taxes. That does not apply to
dental care. If you don t have any, you will not pay any kind of penalty. However, children are

Socrates Ignorance
Everyone obtains their knowledge in different ways and each person has their beliefs of what is right.
Socrates was a wise philosopher from Athens who was known for delineating arguments in which a
dedicated student of his named Plato wrote down. Pre Socratic concepts explored the nature of things
through inquiry exposing that much of what we know are just simply dogmas with no definite answer.
Through Socrates use of the Socratic Method and Socratic Irony he pretends to be ignorant to reveal
the ignorance in others using a series of questions resulting in them learning they know nothing;
therefore, Socrates inspires us to do the same, regardless of the fact that there is always something we
don t know. Socrates wisdom mainly comes from him knowing what he does not know. This relates to
Socratic Irony because he uses his ignorance to reveal the ignorance in others. He will accept the
person s claim regardless of him knowing it will be unsatisfactory. Socrates demonstrates this in the
dialogue Euthyphro when he says to Euthyphro, I cannot do better than assent to your superior
wisdom. What else can I say, confessing as I do, that I know nothing about them? (Euthyphro 127).
Here Socrates is giving Euthyphro the confidence that he is an expert in what he knows and admitting
that he knows nothing. Socrates being ignorant all comes to play into the use of the Socratic Method.
In order for someone to come to the realization that they are ignorant, Socrates uses his

The Effects Of Yoga On The Mind Body Spirit About A Person...
The review of literature on the benefits of yoga show the importance that exists between the mind,
body, and spirit. This review conducted shows the significance of link between the mind body spirit
about a person s overall health.
Diversity in yoga including type, intensity, and duration are what play significant roles in the levels of
perceived health benefits in comparison to traditional exercise. Thus, far stress reduction seems to be
the most proposed benefit associated with yoga therapy, even though time constraints are the most
common barrier. Due to the foreseen benefits of participating in yoga practice, this should generate an
increase on the need of yoga to improve overall health status.
As we continue to understand the important and vital role that yoga practice has will hopefully
continue to emerge in Western culture. As indicated from research, yoga plays a significant role in the
reduction of stress management and reduction of risk factors in chronic disease. In comparison to
traditional forms of medicine, yoga can be an integral part as a holistic alternative.
Yoga has been shown to affect not only mind, body and soul but overall general wellness. Yoga can
affect a multitude of reactions in the body and reap positive benefits on the muscles, organ systems,
glands and quality of life.
Although this literature review shows the potential benefits of including yoga as a part of general
fitness, there still lacks enough research to warrant its impact. For us

It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors should
treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal. Apparently
this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition setting. Another tip
was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself or a character. Failures
become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more weight than it should, and
most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is when you quit because you become
incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found helpful was to find other creative outlets.
In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes
imperative that you find ways to use your creativity, rather than waiting around for someone to give
you a part. Writing your own material can showcase yourself well, especially if you do not have

Communication in American Literature Essay example
American literature has changed since the industrial revolution. As a child matures into an adult, so
has American literature grown to include the problems faced in reality. The word fiction transformed
from the fairy tales of romanticism to the reality of realism in America. Authors such as: Clemens,
Howells, Chopin, Eliot, Faulkner, and Anderson have all assisted the move from dreams to reality.
Dramatists O neill and Miller have written plays that have changed the way social circumstances are
viewed by Americans. Americans, as portrayed by American writers, have been plagued with an
inability to communicate feelings through speech, yet from the industrial revolution to post second

I studied a minute, sort of holding my breath, and then says to myself: All right, then, I ll go to hell
(Clemens 168). The dilemma of whether to turn in a runaway slave grips Huck s heart, and like most
all human beings the struggle is not put into words to others, but is sounded silently within. Clemens
understood realism, and placed an emphasis on a social issue burning hot in his day. He took a
fictional character and gave him a mind, and let the audience, the reader, view his expression of
communication within himself. Words communicate thoughts, yet thoughts in fictional realism are the
expressions of characters that cannot express their thoughts into words.
Clemens barely scratched the surface depicting the problems with communicating in America. W.D.
Howells, a realist, focused his works on the here and now, the immediacy of time, and critical social
issues. In Howells text s, human beings are exposed as creatures of thought, not expression. Alan
Trachtenburg, author of The Incorporation of America, spoke of Howells as a writer who was
notorious for creating fictions of fact rather than fable (202). Trachtenburg also quotes Howells as
saying, Realists want to know the world as it really is, to create a world of fiction congruent with real
life (184). Howell s realism depicts characters unable to communicate their feelings and feeling
unfulfilled in their attempts to express themselves. In

The Pros And Cons Of Public Services
Under the NPM umbrella, public sector has also been experiencing a shift to greater competition. The
need to remove monopoly of service delivery and create contestability, through privatization, public
tendering, and term contracts, justifies the adoption of competition principle (Dunleavy 1994; Hood
1991). Insisting to do bureaucratic provision on public services instead of contracting them out,
knowing that private sector can deliver them better, it is believed would only force governments to
lose comparative advantages on price, efficiency, and effectiveness (Dunleavy 1994. p.49). This way,
governments are able to fulfil their responsibility in providing services and the financing, while
simultaneously stimulate greater competition among providers under market dynamics. However, it is
hard to instigate public service ethos in private parties. Therefore, the capacity of private entities to act
consistently with the public interest is greatly questioned in this scenario. Are concerns such as public
health and safety, environment sustainability, and social equity likely to be sacrificed underneath
market mechanisms? When power is shared with organizations which have business objectives apart
from government s goals, the fundamental issue is how to detect which missions they are carrying out.
Many public services being delivered by third parties are targeted for vulnerable sections of the
community which can pose a higher risk of potential abuse, neglect, exploitation, and

The Invention Of A Handheld Electric Mixer
In the beginning of time mixers were not electrical like they are now a days really easy for people to
use. The egg beaters were hand cranked, Hand cranks don t require electricity, there is a handle you
hold it with and a little knob that you twist so it could mix the ingredients together. In 1856, a
Maryland Tinner named Ralph Collier was the man who invented hand cranked egg beaters. The hand
cranked egg beaters were used by hand nothing electrical in them, but a more years went by people
started inventing so much more mixers and they were electrical of different kind. A handheld electric
mixer is basically an electrical mixer that has a handle and someone holds it while the mixer is mixing

People or chiefs use it for baking because it makes the dough in a better smoother texture than if it

playing until my sophomore year in high school, I lost interest in high school; it seemed like it was
more of a chore rather something to enjoy and the students made it difficult for me to perform so, I
forced myself to leave. Before I quit the band in my sophomore year I joined the culinary arts club and
the art society. I always loved making food, I started cooking around 6 to 7 years old under
supervision of course. Slowly my parents had me help out in the kitchen, then they let me practice
making baked goods and later, they started to let cook by myself. I watched cooking shows too, and I
would just read the cooking books for hours just to know if we had the ingredients

  • 2. The Relations Between China And The Democratic Republic Of... Introduction The trajectory of global politics has dramatically changed after the end the World War II and after the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. In fact, many countries around the globe became economically competitive, politically stable, and culturally optimistic. As the result, many nations started affirming themselves on the global arena while others continued to struggle internally and beyond the borders. The combinations of these factors have perhaps led to interdependency. Globalization has played a significant role in bringing nations together. In order to advance their interests, share their common experience, and overcome their weaknesses, states constantly engage in bilateral or multilateral relationships. The bilateral relationships between China and the Democratic Republic of Congo obey to these dynamic trends. The People s Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Congo enjoy stable diplomatic relations although there have been an increasing economic interests for one another since 1973. Background The People s Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Formerly Zaire) established their diplomatic relationships in 1973 during an official visit to Beijing by Mubuto. Since, there have been intensifications despite the internal turmoil on each side. Before 1973 however, relations with China became rocky when Zaire obtained its independence in 1960 from Belgium and established relations with Taiwan. As the result, the angry China ... This literature review is focusing on the methods for recycling waste tyres particularly that of TDF (tyre derived fuels) as well as other methods utilised globally. Currently in Australia approximately 52.5 million waste tyres are produced annually with an estimated 13% being recycled through processes that involve separating the steel and rubber and using the resulting components for various other products or reusing the tyres for a number of construction projects as well as being utilised as a TDF. Currently the tyres that are not recycled are disposed of as inert landfill, referring to the fact that they don t decompose due to the way tyres are designed to be durable to function efficiently. There have been studies conducted by the UK ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alternatively tyres can be recycled through civil engineering projects. These include projects such as paving, erosion control and retaining walls. Tyres utilised in retaining walls are typically a complete tyre that has been separated into halves prior to being filled with aggregate to increase the structural integrity of the tyre before being placed in a number of possible configurations. The tyres, once they are in their final configuration, can then be coated with a number of finishing products, ranging from shotcrete to timber, to give a desired appearance. The construction method of these walls can vary from a gravity supported system, where in the wall retains the earth through the physical weight of the wall itself, to fully reinforced where further reinforcement is used to obtain the desired strength and stability. It is common practice in construction of slabs for residential and commercial buildings to use permanent internal formwork, which is the use of nonconcrete materials to reduce the material costs when pouring the slab. Common practice is to use polystyrene blocks to offset the amount of concrete used however it is possible to utilise tyres in the place of polystyrene blocks furthermore it is possible to use site generated waste that would require to be disposed of using other means. Using tyres in road and paving construction is ideal for use in areas where the existing strata is of too poor quality to meet the required ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Contribution Of Social Marketing Definition To lay the basis of critically assessing and outlining the contribution of social marketing to contemporary marketing thinking, I should first define the possibly obscure meaning of the particular type of commerce. The initial definition depicts social marketing as the design, implementation and control of programs calculated to influence the acceptability of social ideas and involving considerations of product planning, pricing, communication, distribution and marketing research (Kotler and Zaltman, 1971, p. 5). In Marketing Social Marketing in the Social Change Marketplace Alan R. Andreasen argues that the given definition does not outline the essence social behavioural change. In his words, the acceptance of an idea alone does not guarantee the success of influencing behaviour. The latest interpretation of ISMA solves that problem by stating the outcome explicitly. (2013). Furthermore, the whole discipline is currently defined as a process that analyses a problem and gives a solution that answers to the customer s requirements profitably (CIM definition). Companies use it for raising their income, organisations popularise an activity, etc. It follows that what makes social marketing unique is its purpose. While any other branch of marketing aims personal benefit, the ultimate purpose of social marketing is the welfare of the society. Normally the change is either to 1) accept a new behaviour, 2) reject unwanted potential behaviour, 3) modify ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Tecumseh Thesis A brave and fearless man has finally fallen. The remarkable man was known as Tecumseh, son of the Chief Pucksinwah. During the Battle of Thames, a stray bullet found its mark, embedding into his hip. He was fighting for justice, against the oppression of Native Americans. It was his calling in life to defend his homeland, land that The Great Spirit gave to his Red children. He made it his duty to protect his people from the Americans ill intentions. He devoted his time toward this goal, and even when he drew his last breath, his focus never wavered. At the tender age of six, Tecumseh grieved the loss of his father. His father was a seasoned warrior, a leader, a man to look up to. He died fighting, a hero s death, during the Battle of Point Pleasant. He fought to keep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, Tecumseh rejected British help, but when he realized that it was needed, he looked to them for guns and other necessities to combat the invaders. He fought in many battles before he met his demise, including the Battles of Brownstown, Fallen Timbers, Fort Stephenson, and Frenchtown. Likewise, he participated in the Sieges of Detroit and Fort Meigs. During Tecumseh s War, he fought for his homeland, which later carried over into the War of 1812. His mutual nemesis was William Henry Harrison, who, when he was gone, attacked and burned Prophetstown. In his final battle, Tecumseh fought alongside the Creeks. It was during this battle that a bullet hit him, wounding him severely. He died soon after, at the age of 45. It is not certain who the bullet belonged to, but many claim to have extinguished Tecumseh s light. Without Tecumseh, his people no longer offered resistance to the American encroachment. Tecumseh was survived by his two sons, Naythawaynah and Mahyawwekawpaese and by his siblings. While the mighty warrior no longer breathes the Great Spirit s air, Tecumseh will never be ... • 6. Water Imagery Of Nawal El Saadawi s Woman At Point Zero... Diving into the deeper meaning: Water imagery in Nawal El Saadawi s Woman at Point Zero Water, specifically the ocean, is a highly important symbol in Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi. Through various forms of water, ranging from the vast ocean to a glass of water, El Saadawi explores power represented though water. Through water and green imagery, she examines the ideas of rebirth and female power, ultimately resulting in character evolution, depicted through water imagery symbolizing power and its transfer. While water imagery is representative of renewal and baptism throughout the novel, the water imagery is also used to represent power and depicts character evolution throughout the book, giving insight into how Firdaus changes throughout Woman at Point Zero. El Saadawi uses ocean imagery in contrast to smaller, confined bodies of water to work toward the reader s understanding of the conflicting positions of power. Through this technique, there is a clear contrast between the different meanings conveyed by water throughout the text enhancing the original metaphor presented. Water and sea imagery is used to represent power within the novel. After escaping from her husband, Firdaus describes drowning in a sea of people, stating: The street was an endless expanse stretched out before my eyes like a sea. I was just a pebble thrown into it, battered by the waves (60). After a while, she gets tired and wants fresh water. Here, the different varieties of water, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Modern Day And Renaissance Modern Day vs. Renaissance Medical Practices A man walked out of the doctors office, he had just been told that he had an incurable kind of cancer, and was given 15 years to live. Most people who had this cancer didn t know they had it until it was too late, this man was lucky. The doctors wouldn t have been able to do this without the advancement in technology, machines, etc. That man was my grandpa, and he is still living with that cancer. Other operations are made possible by new materials, such as the alloys and plastics that are used to make artificial hip and knee joints. Advances in the medical field have truly helped modern doctors. Without the medicine, machines, technology they have now there s no way the doctors could have saved the same amount of lives. As Brian Ward, the author of The Story of Medicine , states in his book, Despite opposition, revolutionary scientists and doctors persevered and made some ground breaking discoveries, (Ward 22). Even though the doctors during the Renaissance had little technology, they still made discoveries that impacted the medical field. The discoveries made by the Renaissance doctors were life saving. However, with the given technology that is commonly found in modern day society doctors are able to impact the medical and scientific fields and by doing so, save more lives than thought possible during the Renaissance. • 9. Tabernacle Baptist Church Summary Mini Ethnography at Tabernacle Baptist Church I chose to do my religious ethnographic study at my home church, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Tabernacle is an 112 year old historic Black Baptist church located on the lower Northside of Youngstown surrounded by a mixed income housing development, homeless shelter, Youngstown State University, and St. Elizabeth s Hospital. I would say the average age of a Tabernacle member is 55 years old. About 70% of the members at this church are middle class families. Until about five years ago, its membership was almost exclusively middle class. There has seen an influx of membership in working class individuals and students since the arrival of Tabernacle s young, vibrant pastor, Rev. Christopher McKee, Jr., three years ago. The church is attentive to the needs of this demographic but remains true to its historic Black Baptist church roots. The church previously struggled with this conundrum until it came to the reality that an exclusivist mindset around worship is detrimental to the body of Christ when it did not have a pastor for over three years. The church was dying because no one was welcome to it and it did not have a leader. Though it was difficult, this reassessment was beneficial in making Tabernacle more relevant and welcoming to the community it is blessed to serve. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of other generations much is expected. As generations come and go like the tides, the ocean of differences between them becomes clearer. Older generations differ from the current generation in their use of technology and their integration of educational methods. Older generations did not have the technological advancements and opportunities that are available now, nor did they have access to these technologies for educational purposes. Successful efforts are being made each day to bridge the technological and educational gap. One thing that has continued to advance steadily throughout history is technology. Generations pass as technological knowledge increases. Although this is a fact the world has come to accept, it creates a sea of barriers between generations that is difficult to overcome. Technology plays a crucial part in society today, but that fact hasn t always held true. In past generations, such advanced technology wasn t available or even discovered. Phones weren t portable, computers weren t a common sight in homes, and the gathering of information required a trip to the library and hours of research. These are all aspects of having a burden, but what exactly is the burden of a white man? Labor? Money? Extreme temperatures? No, far from it actually. In the poem the White Man s Burden, Kipling portrays the Burden as having to civilize the uncultured heathens of Africa. The family in The Poisonwood Bible have this particular burden. However, the family is divided on how they think about this so called burden . These two works of literature go together like peanut butter and jelly. They walk hand in hand to expose the downfalls of colonialism and superiority. The Poisonwood Bible has a family that is sent to the Congo to help the Congolese people by introducing them to the Christian faith. In The White Man s Burden, it talks of civilizing the uncivilized or changing them. Just as the Price family is doing to the Congolese people. However the question remains. Article Summary In this article Michael Baker discusses the livelihood of small retailers in a market subjugated by the financially dominant oligopolies, Woolworths and Coles. While the small independent retailers in direct competition with Woolworths and Coles provide some competitive respite for consumers, as they encourage competitive pricing, albeit predatory pricing, it is clear that Woolworths and Coles control the supermarket industry in Australia, in the formation of a duopoly. It is evident that Woolworths and Coles engage in predatory pricing in an attempt to eliminate independent retailers from the market. Woolworths and Coles would have agreements with farmers to supply exclusively to them, in exchange for the firm purchasing all of their quality produce. Woolworths and Coles are also more likely to be able to purchase products, including fruit and vegetables, for a cheaper price than small, independent sellers, as they are purchasing in bulk. According to McKenzie (2002) No major supplier, no matter how big or powerful they are, can afford to be offside, or out of favour, with Coles or Woolworths . Economies of scale give Woolworths and Coles an advantage over smaller retailers because, as a result of their large scale production, they are able to produce at a lower average cost, allowing them to sell goods to consumers at a lower price. This competitive pricing eventually forces smaller firms out of the market, as they are unable to match the predatory pricing, due to a lack of economies of scale. Because Woolworths and Coles generally have homogenous products, they rely on a heavy use of advertising, in order to avoid competitive pricing with each other. Oligopolies tend to avoid competitive pricing at all costs, as the worst case scenario of this is a price war, which generally cannot be escaped, resulting in one survivor, who goes on to become the monopolist. It is evident that Woolworths and Coles are mutually interdependent, whereby each of the firms pricing strategies relate to, and depend on, each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jones September 17, 2015 Georgia Perimeter College Decatur Introduction The osmolarity of a solution is the concentration measured of a solute. To determine the concentration of a solution, one must first understand what osmosis is and how it works. Osmosis is the spontaneous passage or diffusion of water or other solvents through a semipermeable membrane according to the Britannica Encyclopedia. The semipermeable membrane is one that blocks the passages of dissolved substances such as solutes. This process, in more recent times, provides a more accurate study of how water can diffuse across a cell membrane when water molecules have a high concentration to an area in which they have a low concentration. It was originally studied in 1877 by plant physiologist, Wilhelm, Pfeffer. (Britannica Encyclopedia 2015). Osmosis is described in one of three ways when comparing more than one solution. The cell s external and internal environment helps determine tonicity, which is defined as how the cell reacts to its environment. When the cell s environment is equal in osmolarity to itself and there is no change, it is considered an isotonic solution. When the environment has a higher osmolarity, shrinkage occurs and it is considered a hypertonic solution. When the environment has a lower osmolarity, swellings occurs and it is considered hypotonic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Ways Of Human Life Life can be expressed in many different ways. It can be be expressed through song or word. But life in general is all expressed by human beings the same way; by living, people express who they are and what they stand for. People express their lives day by day without even knowing. People are all born, people all live, and people all die. But the things in between are what make life yours. This is how people live; this is how people exist. Thornton Wilder expresses the ways of human life and existence in Our Town, and these perspectives can be linked into other poems, songs, or movies. In Lucinda Matlock, Masters says this line that seems to tie into the ways of human life: And then I found David. Life is just happening and along the way, you can meet people who change your life completely. They can steal your heart and change your life and you as a person. It is very crazy of how one single person can just come in and change your life like that, but it happens all the time. It can happen anytime, anywhere. This can relate this back to Our Town by the scene where George and Emily are in the ice cream parlor. They had been neighbors forever but had never seen each other in any other way. But in that day, they went from just friends to being in love. After that, their lives were entirely different. I m just an ordinary person. And that s OK. This is a quote from Hope Floats. While considering which topic to address for this assignment, I posed the question of free will vs. determinism to a philosopher friend, whose response was I don t care. • 23. The Perception Of Human Communication Prejudice, Stereotype, and how they affect listening Often humans form opinions about one another that may hinder them from listening to a particular group or person effectively. Two ways listening can be impaired is by stereotypes and prejudices formed before a certain person even expresses themselves nonverbally or verbally. According to the book Fundamentals of Human Communication the word stereotype is defined as: Rigid and usually negative assumptions about personal and social qualities of people who are members of a particular social category. (G 10) Another scholarly source confirms this definition by stating that a stereotype is a fixed or over generalized belief about a particular group or class of people. (Cardwell, 1996) Over the years people describe types of communication as stereotypical because it allows a communicator to judge the outcome of a conversation before it even occurs. Stereotypes can sometimes be viewed as advantageous in certain situations because it allows a communicator to judge an outcome of a situation based on past situations. For example, if a mother has talked to a doctor previously about how to treat a cold and his advice worked well, chances are she will stereotype what will take place the next time she has a cold and consults a doctor before it even happened. On the other hand, in this case stereotyping can be bad when you assume what the other communicator is going to say or do, prejudging the outcome, and you are wrong. ... We know that the substrates of catechol oxidase are catechol and oxygen. The substrates react with one another within the active site of the enzyme. The products formed by this reaction are benzoquinone and water. In this exercise we mixed the ingredients, stirred them, and incubate them at 40°C. We formed in tube 2a the product benzoquinone, observed its color change, and established a color intensity scale. 2. In our second exercise we determined the ability of the enzyme cathecol oxidase to catalyze the oxidation of two different but structurally similar substrates: cathecol and hydroquinone. Examining their chemical structure we noticed that both are ring structures with two hydroxyl groups attached. The question was if the enzyme could also convert it to benzoquinone. We observed how discriminating cathecol oxidise is for particular substrates by comparing the color intensity of the solutions in each test tubes with the standards produced in the first section (Table 1). We recorded them in Table 2. After 10 min we recorded the color intensity in Table 3. Our conclusion was that cathecol is stronger enzyme than hydroquinone and that the enzyme is simply too specific to interact with the similar but not identical molecule. 3. ... Socrates was a wise philosopher from Athens who was known for delineating arguments in which a dedicated student of his named Plato wrote down. Pre Socratic concepts explored the nature of things through inquiry exposing that much of what we know are just simply dogmas with no definite answer. Through Socrates use of the Socratic Method and Socratic Irony he pretends to be ignorant to reveal the ignorance in others using a series of questions resulting in them learning they know nothing; therefore, Socrates inspires us to do the same, regardless of the fact that there is always something we don t know. Socrates wisdom mainly comes from him knowing what he does not know. This relates to Socratic Irony because he uses his ignorance to reveal the ignorance in others. He will accept the person s claim regardless of him knowing it will be unsatisfactory. Socrates demonstrates this in the dialogue Euthyphro when he says to Euthyphro, I cannot do better than assent to your superior wisdom. What else can I say, confessing as I do, that I know nothing about them? (Euthyphro 127). This review conducted shows the significance of link between the mind body spirit about a person s overall health. Diversity in yoga including type, intensity, and duration are what play significant roles in the levels of perceived health benefits in comparison to traditional exercise. Thus, far stress reduction seems to be the most proposed benefit associated with yoga therapy, even though time constraints are the most common barrier. Due to the foreseen benefits of participating in yoga practice, this should generate an increase on the need of yoga to improve overall health status. As we continue to understand the important and vital role that yoga practice has will hopefully continue to emerge in Western culture. As indicated from research, yoga plays a significant role in the reduction of stress management and reduction of risk factors in chronic disease. In comparison to traditional forms of medicine, yoga can be an integral part as a holistic alternative. Yoga has been shown to affect not only mind, body and soul but overall general wellness. Yoga can affect a multitude of reactions in the body and reap positive benefits on the muscles, organ systems, glands and quality of life. Although this literature review shows the potential benefits of including yoga as a part of general fitness, there still lacks enough research to warrant its impact. For us ... • 36. Waiting For Guffman These past two weeks, while the theatre has been relatively calm, I chose three different pieces of media in order to delve further into my theater knowledge. The first of which is Waiting for Guffman , a mockumentary on the beginning of a theater company in Blaine, Missouri. The town s resident director, Corky St. Clair, and the amateur cast of a corny small town musical production go overboard when they hear that Mr. Guffman, representative of the prestigious New York based Oppenheimer Organization, will be in attendance. This film was a suggestion from my mentor, Ms. Hawkins, because it relates to many of the experiences I ve had in my third space. For example, the cast have to go around town promoting the show in order to get people to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors should treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal. Apparently this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition setting. Another tip was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself or a character. Failures become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more weight than it should, and most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is when you quit because you become incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found helpful was to find other creative outlets. In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes imperative that you find ways to use your creativity, rather than waiting around for someone to give you a part. Writing your own material can showcase yourself well, especially if you do not have representation. It is ok to get a little lost, to ask yourself deep questions, and to not have all the answers. What matters most is that you never lose sight of your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Communication in American Literature Essay example American literature has changed since the industrial revolution. As a child matures into an adult, so has American literature grown to include the problems faced in reality. The word fiction transformed from the fairy tales of romanticism to the reality of realism in America. Authors such as: Clemens, Howells, Chopin, Eliot, Faulkner, and Anderson have all assisted the move from dreams to reality. Dramatists O neill and Miller have written plays that have changed the way social circumstances are viewed by Americans. Americans, as portrayed by American writers, have been plagued with an inability to communicate feelings through speech, yet from the industrial revolution to post second World War, American writers have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I studied a minute, sort of holding my breath, and then says to myself: All right, then, I ll go to hell (Clemens 168). The dilemma of whether to turn in a runaway slave grips Huck s heart, and like most all human beings the struggle is not put into words to others, but is sounded silently within. Clemens understood realism, and placed an emphasis on a social issue burning hot in his day. He took a fictional character and gave him a mind, and let the audience, the reader, view his expression of communication within himself. Words communicate thoughts, yet thoughts in fictional realism are the expressions of characters that cannot express their thoughts into words. Clemens barely scratched the surface depicting the problems with communicating in America. W.D. Howells, a realist, focused his works on the here and now, the immediacy of time, and critical social issues. In Howells text s, human beings are exposed as creatures of thought, not expression. Alan Trachtenburg, author of The Incorporation of America, spoke of Howells as a writer who was notorious for creating fictions of fact rather than fable (202). Trachtenburg also quotes Howells as saying, Realists want to know the world as it really is, to create a world of fiction congruent with real life (184). Howell s realism depicts characters unable to communicate their feelings and feeling unfulfilled in their attempts to express themselves. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Pros And Cons Of Public Services Under the NPM umbrella, public sector has also been experiencing a shift to greater competition. The need to remove monopoly of service delivery and create contestability, through privatization, public tendering, and term contracts, justifies the adoption of competition principle (Dunleavy 1994; Hood 1991). Insisting to do bureaucratic provision on public services instead of contracting them out, knowing that private sector can deliver them better, it is believed would only force governments to lose comparative advantages on price, efficiency, and effectiveness (Dunleavy 1994. p.49). This way, governments are able to fulfil their responsibility in providing services and the financing, while simultaneously stimulate greater competition among providers under market dynamics. However, it is hard to instigate public service ethos in private parties. Therefore, the capacity of private entities to act consistently with the public interest is greatly questioned in this scenario. Are concerns such as public health and safety, environment sustainability, and social equity likely to be sacrificed underneath market mechanisms? When power is shared with organizations which have business objectives apart from government s goals, the fundamental issue is how to detect which missions they are carrying out. Many public services being delivered by third parties are targeted for vulnerable sections of the community which can pose a higher risk of potential abuse, neglect, exploitation, and ... • 39. The Invention Of A Handheld Electric Mixer In the beginning of time mixers were not electrical like they are now a days really easy for people to use. The egg beaters were hand cranked, Hand cranks don t require electricity, there is a handle you hold it with and a little knob that you twist so it could mix the ingredients together. In 1856, a Maryland Tinner named Ralph Collier was the man who invented hand cranked egg beaters. The hand cranked egg beaters were used by hand nothing electrical in them, but a more years went by people started inventing so much more mixers and they were electrical of different kind. A handheld electric mixer is basically an electrical mixer that has a handle and someone holds it while the mixer is mixing the eggs and other things. Mixers are of course something used in the kitchen and only the kitchen. People or chiefs use it for baking because it makes the dough in a better smoother texture than if it was hand mixed. A classical American mixer brand is Dover stamping company, the company bought the patent egg beaters in 1859. An American man named Rufus Eastman invented the first mixer which was in 1885. • 40. Darkness, a Scary Thought CREATIVE WRITING: Darkness, a scary thought I faintly remember what happened that night, that s the reason why I m sitting here. I can t think clearly, see straight and yet I continue to see glimpses of him, his baby blue eyes, greasy black hair and oily face that sheds a smile every so often. I didn t mean for everything to be this way, I feel as if it s my fault, that maybe I m the suspect. I feel as if there s a blunt knife digging deeper into the guilty walls of my soul. As I peer around the room, I notice one streak of sunlight, fighting for survival in the dark and dampened room. Faintly, I hear footsteps awaken from nowhere. Now my heart is racing, as if it s about to jump out from my skin. As I look towards the door, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I arrive at the witch s house, the one that tore my life apart. The one that needs to be taught a lesson, one that will stay with her forever. As I steadily walk towards the back door paranoia strikes me. Annoying sirens repeatedly raid the blocks before this, and I begin to furiously panic. Suddenly, my legs take over. My mind is at ease and I feel as if someone different has taken over. Someone that has strong determination and courage. As I barge into the small and unusual house I notice that it is awfully quiet, too quiet. I quickly scan downstairs as if my life depended on it. I check an upstairs and it seems to be out of place. The bath tub is filled with warm, fresh water; there are clothes to be yet hung up. That s when it hit me. One more room out of the whole entire house to be observed, the master bedroom. I put my hand to the cold, but shiny door handle and gasp as something covered in red is lying there. Cold and unwanted was the body of the witch that I was hunting for. Someone had beat me to it, but how? Why? I was about to leave the room, but something caught my eye, a letter, in her hand. It states: Rachel, How could you do such a thing? You re a murderer! Learning music was not a challenge for me, especially since I grew up in musically gifted families. Honestly math came easy for me, mostly because I was taught to keep up with the tempo of the music. Thankfully playing in the band came naturally for me and I liked the challenge in trying to learn an instrument. My school performed at a couple of competitions and a few concerts as well. I continued playing until my sophomore year in high school, I lost interest in high school; it seemed like it was more of a chore rather something to enjoy and the students made it difficult for me to perform so, I forced myself to leave. Before I quit the band in my sophomore year I joined the culinary arts club and the art society. I always loved making food, I started cooking around 6 to 7 years old under supervision of course. Slowly my parents had me help out in the kitchen, then they let me practice making baked goods and later, they started to let cook by myself. I watched cooking shows too, and I would just read the cooking books for hours just to know if we had the ingredients ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
