With rising crude prices and depleting quality of crude, however, the level of wastewater pollutants in petroleum wastewater is at new high. Such conditions are forcing refineries to use a more advanced water treatment, water recovery methods, and robust processes that work well under a variety of conditions and can handle the changing refinery effluent flow rates. Finally a process that is economical in overall life time cost is needed to make all of this feasible. Aquatech has experience working with these refinery effluent pollutants in the refinery market and offers the advanced petroleum wastewater treatment and recovery technology necessary for the refinery’s needs.

Intentional and unintentional Oil spill in the ocean is significantly harmful to marine life, coastal area and whole environment. There are many softwares available which can detect oil spill but they are not application specific and some of t hem are paid. We have implemented feature extraction for oil spill detection using imageJ too l. This paper gives implementation details and results of features extraction from SAR data. The features selected for the study are most frequently used features assorted from the literature on research of oil spill detection by various scientists.
Laboratory Investigation of the Effect of Crude Oil Spill on Engineering Prop...IOSR Journals
The deterioration of reinforced concrete infrastructures as a result of the effect of Crude Oil spill on concrete structures particularly in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria has remained a great challenge to the engineering profession and the general public at large. Concrete interacts with substances within its environment. These interactions often have significant effect on the engineering properties of concrete made from ordinary Portland cement. Concrete specimens were prepared at 1:2:4 mix ratio and subject to three different curing media of concentrated crude oil, stimulated water/crude oil mix and potable water. The concrete specimens were cured in the media with environmental temperature of 25+20C and they were crushed at immersion ages of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days. The result obtained showed that different concentration of crude oil led to significant changes in the compressive strength of concrete made from ordinary Portland cement. This research also revealed that the rate of strength development is significantly low in the concentrated crude oil and crude oil/water mix curing media. Corrosion rate and chemical attack on concrete are high in the concentrated crude oil medium than in the crude oil/water mix as the reduction in compressive strength are in the ratio of 20:12. It was also observed that the three curing media led to increase in the compressive strength of concrete as the curing age increases.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

14. • Mechanical containment or recovery is the primary line of defense
against oil spills. It includes containment and recovery equipment :-
• 1.Booms:- A boom specially designed
for pollution response is a floating,
physical barrier, placed on the water to
contain, divert, deflect, or exclude oil.
B. MECHANICAL CONTAINMENT
15. • 2.Barriers/Spill Berms:-
A physical
barrier is placed across an area to prevent oil
from passing.
• 3.Skimming:-
They are placed at
the oil/water interface to recover or
skim oil from the water’s surface.
16. • 4.Vacuum:-
A vacuum unit is attached via a flexible hose to
a suction head that recovers free oil.
• 5.Sediment Reworking/Tilling:-
The oiled sediments are
root-tilled, disked, or otherwise mixed using mechanical

• Crude oil creates anaerobic condition in the soil, results of which are
toxic to plant growth.

This technology embraces the use of aerobic micro organisms
to degrade the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PHC) and other
derivatives to carbon dioxide and water, or other less toxic intermediates
in the site of origin.

be placed along the banks.

CONTROL OF LAND OIL POLLUTION
31. • Oil pollution is one of the major type of the pollution contaminating
water bodies and lands, that has many adverse effects on the flora and
fauna. So, there is need to have some knowledge about the chemical
processes involved in crude oil-ecosystem interactions, the public and
environmental health issues associated with oil spills. This will help to
control oil pollution and reduce problems caused.
CONCLUSION
