Eastern New Mexico sits atop the Lone Star Conference women's basketball standings at 10-0 in conference play after completing the first half of the LSC schedule undefeated. Mikaehla Connor of Eastern New Mexico was named offensive player of the week after scoring 25 points to lead her team to an overtime win over nationally ranked Angelo State. Daeshi McCants of Eastern New Mexico was named defensive player of the week after blocking six shots and grabbing nine defensive rebounds as Eastern New Mexico maintained their lead in the conference standings. Texas A&M-Commerce won all three of their games last week, including two conference wins, to improve to 7-3 in the LSC.

1. LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Eastern New Mexico sits atop the Lone Star Conference standings as the only undefeated team in league play at
10-0. The Greyhounds boast a seven-game winning streak with a two-game lead in the LSC race at the midway
point of the LSC schedule.
LSC play rolls on this week with one league contest Tuesday and five on both Thursday and Saturday.
The LSC women are 103-82 overall. The women’s squads are currently 14-9 combined against the Heartland,
and 9-9 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Mikaehla Connor, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, Guard, Dallas, Texas, Grand Canyon University
Connor’s spectacular play last week allowed the Greyhounds to close the first half of the Lone Star Conference
schedule in sole possession first place. With a career-best 25 points, nine rebounds, and a .529 shooting
percentage, she rallied ENMU from a six-point deficit to an overtime road-win against nationally-ranked Angelo
State. She also hit all seven free-throw attempts in the game and scored nine of Eastern’s 15 points in overtime.
On Thursday, she poured in 17 points and grabbed five rebounds in a win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
DEFENSIVE
Daeshi McCants, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, Forward, Las Cruces, N.M., University of Texas-El Paso
McCants defensive efforts last week helped the Greyhounds maintain first place in the Lone Star Conference
and improve to 6-1 in road games for the season. In games at Texas A&M-Kingsville and nationally-ranked
Angelo State, she blocked six shots, grabbed nine defensive rebounds and had a steal. As a result, the opposition
was held to a .262 shooting percentage while the Hounds forced 31 turnovers. At ASU, she registered her third
double-double of the season with 14 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots, and hit seven of eight free
throws. Against the Javelinas, she scored seven points, blocked two shots, had three boards, and a steal.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, averaged 18.5 points per game last week against Western New
Mexico and Eastern New Mexico. The senior has scored in double figures in nine straight games and 12 overall
with a 17 point and 20 point performance. She made 70.0 percent from the field (14-of-20) and was perfect
from the charity stripe going 9-for-9. The Jackson, Mississippi native also dished out three assists with three
blocks.
Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was an efficient and effective scorer for the Lions in their
three wins last week. She averaged 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 62 percent from the field and
80 percent from behind the arc. She scored 14 points in 14 minutes against Arlington Baptist, going 7-of-9 from
the field. She also pulled down seven rebounds. She followed that with a 22-point performance against UTPB,
her fourth 20-point game this season and her highest output of the season. She also had a double-double with
10 rebounds. Gay finished the week with a 17-point outing against WT, leading the Lions to a 78-60 win to
snap a 15-game losing streak to the Lady Buffs. Gay went 7-of-10 from the field and hit both of her three-point
attempts. Gay is ninth in the LSC in scoring and sixth in field goal percentage.
Jordan Gutierrez, Western New Mexico, did her best to help the Lady Mustangs scoring 33 points, as she
made 14 field goals, four three-pointers, while adding five rebounds, seven assists, a block and three steals
while playing all 40 minutes in both games. She tallied 16 and 17 in both games, with her high of 17 coming
against the Javelinas in which she scored all of her points in the second half to help WNMU come back to get to
within striking distance. She made seven field goals in each game and had a high in rebounds with three, assists
with five, a block and three steals against the Javelinas.
Kaylin Roher, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, averaged 15.0 points in last week’s win over Western New
Mexico, Roher scored 16 points, 12 from three-point range to take over eighth place on the all-time three-
pointers made list in school history... the senior reached double figures in both games after scoring 14 points in
the week’s opener versus nationally-ranked Eastern New Mexico.
Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, paced the Lady Buffs averaging 14.5 points per game in two
games this past week on the road. Watson went 14 of 30 from the field (.467) with a team-high nine assists and
six steals in the games. She scored 18 points at Tarleton State and 11 at Texas A&M-Commerce. Watson’s 29
points moved her into 15th all-time in career scoring with 1,150 points.
Kara Mitchell, Texas Woman’s University, scored a career and game-high 18 points in a 77-63 win over
Cameron Saturday. The sophomore was clutch down the stretch as she had a play in a trio of quarter buzzer
beaters and hit 5-of-6 from the line in the final minute to seal the win for the Pioneers. Against Midwestern
State, Mitchell hit a huge bucket in the paint with 1:10 to give TWU a 63-60 advantage before her last-second
attempt in the lane bounced in and out. On the week, Mitchell also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out
five assists.
Jasmine Richardson, Midwestern State University, lifted Midwestern State to a 66-65 upset road win over
Texas Woman’s Thursday with a layup with 2.6 seconds remaining. The Corpus Christi native posted her first
double-figure scoring performance of the season two weekends ago and followed up with back-to-back double-
digit outings last week with a career-best 14 points against Cameron and 12 against TWU, scoring eight of those
points in the fourth quarter versus the Pioneers. The 5-5 guard shot an impressive 67 percent from the floor
and drained her first triple of the season in the win over the Pioneers. Against Cameron, she matched a career-

high five assists, averaging 3.5 helpers on the week.
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton State University, helped lead the TexAnns to a 2-0 week with home wins over West
Texas A&M and UT-Permian Basin by averaging 12 points per game. With Tarleton leading 50-49 in the fourth
quarter, Wipff scored all seven of her points in the final five minutes of the game against WT to help the
TexAnns come away with the win. Wipff had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, a block and a steal in the win.
Against UTPB, Wipff had 10 first-quarter points and finished with a game-high 17 points on 6-8 shooting in just
21 minutes during the 27-point rout. For the week, Wipff shot 53 percent from the floor and 44 percent on
3-pointers while averaging 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State University, led the team in scoring and rebounding over the week while
guiding the TexAnns to a pair of wins of West Texas A&M and UT-Permian Basin. Hailey posted her ninth double-
double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds against West Texas A&M. Hailey also blocked a game-high
four shots and had two steals against the Lady Buffs. Hailey helped hold the Buffs its lowest scoring total in LSC
play this season at 57 points. Against UTPB, Hailey had eight points and five rebounds in the blowout win over
the Falcons. Hailey and the TexAnns held UTPB to 27 percent shooting and forced 25 turnovers.
Angelica Wilson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Coming off an injury, she shined in her first game of
2017 with five blocks against first place and undefeated Eastern New Mexico in 16 minutes... she added eight
rebounds off the bench... two days later, Wilson added five boards and a block in the victory over Western New
Mexico.
Brianna Wise, Texas A&M University-Commerce, defensive versatility was on full display in the Lions’ three
wins last week. She guarded anywhere from the two to the four positions and flourished, helping to hold Lion
opponents to 36.5 percent shooting from the field and 66.7 points per game. Wise had three blocks and seven
steals, including two blocks and three steals against WT, helping the Lions break a 15-game losing streak to the
Lady Buffs. Wise also contributed on the offensive end. She averaged 11 points per game and shot 58 percent
from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line. She also averaged 2.7 assists and four rebounds.
Grace Mitchell, Texas Woman’s University, notched her third double-double of the season against Cameron
Saturday with a game-high 18 points and career-high 12 rebounds. The junior anchored the Pioneer defense by
holding the Aggies to their lowest offense output on the season, 17 points below their season average. On the
week, Mitchell averaged 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.
Lilley Vander Zee, West Texas A&M University, led the team with a 6.5 average in rebounds over the weekend
and blocked five shots, including tying her career-best with four rejections against Texas A&M-Commerce and
five blocks for the week as she has 28 for the season and 52 for her career. Vander Zee leads the LSC in blocks.
Keshaun Clark, Western New Mexico, led the team in rebounds with 14, including 11 on the defensive end.
She also had five assists, a block and was second on the team in scoring with 14.5 points. She shot well from
the field making 42 percent and went 5-10 from three. Clark nearly went for a double-double with 17 points
and nine rebounds against Texas A&M-Kingsville. She made 47 percent from the field in that game, including
60 percent from three.

The Belles went 1-1 last week against Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico ... ASU leads the LSC in
scoring at 81.8 points per game and limit opponents to 65.6 per game ... Taylor Dorsey is tops in scoring at
18.4 points per game while Jasmine Prophet is No. 8 at 14.0 points per game ... Angelo State is also tops in the
league in turnover margin (5.1) and assist to turnover ratio (1.18) ... ASU will face Texas A&M-Kingsville and
Texas Woman’s on Tuesday and Saturday.

Eastern New Mexico
With their first seven-game win streak since the 2003-04 season, the Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball
team completed the first half of the LSC schedule with a 10-0 league record. Saturday’s overtime win at
nationally-ranked Angelo State snapped a three-game skid against the Rambelles, and gave Eastern its first 14-
win season since 2006-07. Mikaehla Connor scored a career-best 25 points in the game, which included nine of
the team’s overtime points. The wild game between the LSC’s two top teams featured 14 tie scores and 14 lead
changes. On Thursday, ENMU used a big second half to pull away for a 63-52 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
This week, the Greyhounds will host West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State moved to 5-11 on the season and 2-8 in Lone Star Conference play following a 94-76 defeat
to Cameron at home and a 66-65 upset win over Texas Woman’s on the road last week. Junior guard Jasmine
Richardson propelled the Mustangs to a win in Denton on a layup with 2.6 seconds remaining after six lead
changes in the fourth period alone. MSU earned its first win over the Pioneers in the last four tries. The
Mustangs return home for a busy week of LSC action inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Midwestern plays host to
Texas A&M-Commerce in a 5:30 p.m. tipoff Thursday before facing rival Tarleton State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Tarleton State
Tarleton went 2-0 on the week to improve to 8-8 overall and 7-3 in the Lone Star Conference. The TexAnns
topped West Texas A&M 64-57 and UT Permian Basin 67-40 and now sits in third place in LSC play. Mackenzie
Hailey led the TexAnns in scoring for the week at 12.5 ppg along with 8.5 rebounds. Bailey Wipff (12 ppg)
and Ikpeaku Iwobi (11 ppg) also averaged double figures. Tarleton will travel to Cameron for its next game on
Thursday, Jan. 26.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions won all three of their games last week, including both of their LSC matchups. The Lions defeated

win over WT, breaking a 15-game losing streak to the Lady Buffs. The Lions are now alone in third place in the
conference after the first half of the conference season. They will travel to face Midwestern State on Thursday
and Cameron on Saturday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The Javelinas split last week’s homestand with a victory over Western New Mexico Saturday afternoon... four
players reached double figures and Kaylin Roher drained four three-pointers in the win... the Hogs have four
LSC wins in 2016-17, more than the last two seasons combined.
Texas Woman’s
TWU lost in the final seconds to Midwestern State Thursday before bouncing back with a 77-63 win over
Cameron Saturday.

West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs suffered their first consecutive game losing streak in LSC play since the beginning of the
conference slate in 2012-13 when the team started 0-3 in LSC action ... The Lady Buffs dropped a 64-57 loss
at Tarleton State and had a 15-game winning streak snapped against Texas A&M-Commerce, 78-60, with the
largest loss to the Lions in program history...Both TSU and TAMUC outscored WT with runs in the fourth quarter
and 43-29 overall in the final stanza. With 4:43 left, WT trailed 64-62 at TAMUC and was outscored 16-0 the
rest of the way ... Despite the losses WT and the opposition shot nearly the same as WT was 47 of 111 from the
field (.423) and the opponents were 48 of 110 (.436), while both teams buried 13 triples and the rebounding
was very similar as WT averaged 32.5 rebounds per game and allowed 31.5 ... The main difference was at the
free throw line as WT was just 10 of 14 for the week, while the opponents were 33 of 40 and WT committed
39 turnovers leading to being outscored 52-41 in points off turnovers ... The six losses to this point are the
most since 2012-13 when the team lost 12 in the season going 20-12 ... For the week, WT got outscored
uncharacteristically in three of the four quarters, only lead 36-30 in the first quarter ... Head coach Kristen
Mattio fell to 41-11 overall and 19-7 in LSC play ... WT currently sits fifth in the league standings heading to the
back half of the conference slate at 6-4 ... Senior Sasha Watson paced the team averaging 14.5 points per game
and moved into 15th all-time in school history in scoring at 1,150 points ... Senior Lilley Vander Zee tallied five
blocks for the week as she leads the conference in blocks with 28 ... For the week WT committed 39 fouls, while
the opposition committed just 19 ... WT continues its five-game road trip at league-leading Eastern New Mexico
and at Western New Mexico this week ... ENMU snapped a long winning streak by the Lady Buffs with a win at
WT in December, while WT had its biggest conference win by margin against Western New Mexico in Canyon in
December.
Western New Mexico
Following a tough game against Angelo State, WNMU came back strong against Texas A&M-Kingsville as they
got back to within six in the fourth quarter before falling just short. In addition to top performances from
Jordan Gutierrez and Keshaun Clark, Jade Botelho added 28 points and Jayla Brown had 11 points and 13
rebounds. Gutierrez did her best to help the Lady Mustangs scoring 33 points, as she made 14 field goals, four
three-pointers, while adding five rebounds, seven assists, a block and three steals while playing all 40 minutes
in both games. She tallied 16 and 17 in both games, with her high of 17 coming against the Javelinas in which
she scored all of her points in the second half to help WNMU come back to get to within striking distance. She
made seven field goals in each game and had a high in rebounds with three, assists with five, a block and three
steals against the Javelinas. Clark led the team in rebounds with 14, including 11 on the defensive end. She also
had five assists, a block and was second on the team in scoring with 14.5 points. She shot well from the field

rebounds against Texas A&M-Kingsville. She made 47 percent from the field in that game, including 60 percent
from three.
