LSC BASKETBALL
Lone Star Conference action is in full swing this week with eight men’s games and 10 women’s contests.
The Angelo State men (12-0) and West Texas A&M women (12-0) remain undefeated this season.
The LSC men have a 75-27 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 61-40 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-14 combined against the Heartland,
and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
EJ Reed, Tarleton State University, SR, Forward, Mesquite, Texas, Mesquite HS
Reed led Tarleton in scoring last week and guided the No. 12 Texans to a pair of wins while averaging 19.5 points
on 58 percent shooting and 10 rebounds. Reed, the LSC leader in points and rebounds per game, recorded his
seventh 20-point game of the season with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting in an 81-55 win over Southeastern
Oklahoma State. The senior from Mesquite registered his seventh double-double of the year in a 71-61 win
over Cameron. Reed had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Texans.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Chaunce Hill, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, Forward, Las Vegas, Nev., Fairfax HS
Hill’s second double-double of the season catapulted ENMU over Wayland Baptist in the Greyhound’s home
opener. The 6-7 forward recorded a career high 17 rebounds, tying for third place in the record books at Eastern
for most rebounds in a single game, and 12 points. Defending the rim all night, Hill had five blocks, which is
not only a career-high but also the second most blocks in as single game for ENMU. Hill logged 31 minutes of
court time, playing an integral role in the Greyhound win and helping hold WBU to 37 percent from the field.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Dayla Threatt, Cameron University, JR, Guard, Oklahoma City, Okla., Millwood HS
Threatt had a career week for the Aggies, averaging 21.0 points in two games. The junior from Oklahoma City
shot 13-for-28 (46.4 percent) from the field, 11-for-13 from the free-throw line and knocked down five three-
point shots. On Saturday at Tarleton State, she had a career-high 30 points, which was also a season best for
the Aggies. Against the TexAnns, Threatt had a hot hand with 10-for-21 made shots with eight boards and a
pair of steals. Her effort guided the Aggies back from a 10-point deficit to an 83-71 road victory. The junior had
12 points versus West Texas A&M. In the two games, Threatt averaged 6.5 rebounds and had four total steals.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Erin Maxwell, Texas Woman’s University, JR, Center, Dallas, Texas, Ursuline Academy
Maxwell averaged a double-double and helped the Pioneers to a 2-0 start in the conference for the first time
since 2010-11. She continued to dominate on defense with a team-best 11.5 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in the
two games last week. Maxwell also led the team with 17.0 points per game. She shot 52.0 percent from the
floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Maxwell recorded 14 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks in
the LSC opener against Tarleton State and then added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks against Midwestern
State. She helped the Pioneers hold its two opponents to just 28.0 percent shooting and 53.5 points per game.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jordan Stevens, Midwestern State University, averaged 21 points, seven assists and six rebounds while
shooting 50 percent from the field to lead No. 9-ranked Midwestern State to wins over Oklahoma Sciences
& Arts and St. Gregory’s coming out of the winter break. The 6-foot senior transfer from Duquesne fired in
a game-high 26 points while connected on three 3-pointers and dishing out nine assists in a 105-82 win over
USAO on Thursday. Stevens’ all-around performance of 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two blocked
shots and two steals keyed a 103-57 rout of St. Gregory’s on Saturday for the Mustangs eighth straight win.
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, had another strong week for the Buffs as the sophomore
averaged 19.5 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists and a steal as WT went 1-1 this past week. The
Arlington native went 11-of-32 (34.4%) from the floor including 6-of-20 (30%) from deep and 11-of-14 (78.6%)
from the charity stripe. WT’s LSC opener against Cameron saw Chavlocich score a team high 27 points as he
went 8-of-22 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line in the overtime loss.
JV Long, Cameron University, averaged 18 points in Cameron’s two games this last week and was perfect at
the free-throw line in 12 chances. However, the redshirt-freshman had a career high at West Texas A&M with
23 points and had the final go-ahead shot and free-throw to give the Aggies a 83-80 overtime win. This is the
third time this season that Long has hit a game winning shot for Cameron. Long followed up his performance
with 13 points at Tarleton State. For the week he shot 12-for-24 from the field and had five assists. Additionally,
he had four steals to bring his season average to 1.8 which is second best in the LSC.
Lawrence Domingo, Eastern New Mexico University, In ENMU’s win over Wayland Baptist, recorded his third
double-double of the season grabbing a season-high 14 rebounds and 18 points. His 23 field goals were tied
for the most attempted in Greyhound history.
Michael Hardge, Tarleton State University, defense led to offense with his eight steals in two games. The

eight steals for Hardge gave the senior 100 career steals, only the 12 player in school history to do so. Hardge
also had nine assists in the two wins and averaged 16 points per game on 48 percent shooting. Hardge helped
limit opponents to 58 points per game on 38 percent shooting.
Hershell Grant, Midwestern State University, effort and tenacity keyed a pair of blowout wins for No.
9-ranked Midwestern State over Oklahoma Sciences & Arts and St. Gregory’s (Okla.) coming out of the break.
MSU’s key defender helped the Mustangs hold the opposition to 37.5 percent shooting for the week including
just 25 percent from the arc. Grant proved to be effective on both ends of the floor hitting on 8-of-10 shots to
finish with a career-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot against St.
Gregory’s on Saturday after going for nine points, two rebounds and a steal against USAO.
Jerrod Walton, West Texas A&M University, had a breakout week for the Buffs as the sophomore averaged
13.5 points to go along with 7.5 rebounds per contest as WT went 1-1. The Mequon, Wisconsin native went
7-of-20 (35%) from the floor including 1-of-4 (25%) from deep and 12-of-18 (66.7%) from the free throw line to
go along with 15 total rebounds (five offensive, 10 defensive), three assists, two blocks and two steals.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Diamalises Rivera, Angelo State University, helped the Belles break a two-game losing streak with a career
high 25 points in a 107-66 win over McMurry. The senior went 10-for-14 from the floor and was a perfect five-
for-five from the free throw line. She also grabbed eight rebounds in the final non-conference game of the year
for ASU.
Jacquar Westbrooks, Midwestern State University, set a new career high in scoring for the third time this
season with 22 points in Midwestern State’s conference opener against Texas Woman’s. The Miami, Fla. native
scored 18 of her points in the second half, finishing 7-of-16 for the day. Westbrooks also contributed four
offensive boards and two steals on the afternoon. She has now scored in double figures in five-straight games
and leads the Mustangs with 8.4 points per game this season.
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton State University, averaged 19 points per game for the TexAnns and kept her team in the
game late with her three-point shooting. Wipff shot 8-of-14 on 3s for a .571 shooting percentage. Wipff scored
a season-high 20 points in a road loss to Texas Woman’s and followed with 18 points against Cameron.
Kassandra Harris, Eastern New Mexico University, paced the Greyhounds in a 71-60 victory over Northern
New Mexico College. She poured in 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to notch her first double double of
the season. Harris shot a sizzling 70 percent (7-10) from the floor and connected on both of her free-throw
attempts.
Madison McLain, West Texas A&M University, had a standout week for the Lady Buffs as she paced the
team to a perfect 13-0 record with two wins after Christmas. McLain scored 14 points in the Lady Buffs’ 69-58
win over conference rival Cameron and had a season-high 17 points in a blowout win over University of the
Southwest (101-46). McLain came off the bench in both games to shoot 10 of 19 from the field (.526), 7 of 14
from beyond the arc (.500) and 4 of 4 from the line for a 15.5 average for the week to lead the team. She had
10 rebounds (5.0) with three assists, two blocks and a team-high six steals.
Kara Mitchell, Texas Woman’s University, averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting
61.1 percent from the floor and helped the Pioneers to a 2-0 start in the Lone Star Conference for the first time
since 2010-11. She led the team with 16 points, three assists and two steals in the conference opener against
Tarleton State and then added nine points and a game-best five assists against Midwestern State. Mitchell shot
7-for-12 (.583) against TSU and 4-for-6 (.667) against MSU.
Maddison Wild, West Texas A&M University, tallied another double-double with a career-high 19 points and
12 rebounds in the Lady Buffs’ 69-58 win over Cameron to open LSC play on Thursday. She then followed with
seven rebounds against the University of the Southwest as the Lady Buffs improved to 13-0 on the season. It
was Wild’s second double-double of the season. She went 9 of 18 from the field (.500) for the week and 3 of 5
from the line (.600), while pulling down 19 rebounds, including 14 on the defensive end. She leads the team in
rebounding at 6.7 per game with 20 offensive boards and 60 defensive.
Eliza Martinez, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong defensive performance to lift Eastern to a
71-60 win over Northern New Mexico College. The Eagles were limited to just 10 points in the first quarter and
24 points in the opening half of play. Martinez finished with three blocks in the game.
Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, led the Belles defensive efforts in a 107-66 win over McMurry. The
junior blocked one shot and grabbed four rebounds in the win. She was a part of a defense that held McMurry
to just 40.7-percent shooting from the field and 20.0-percent from behind the arc. ASU also outrebounded
McMurry 49-35 for the game.
Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, was right around her season average of 10 points and nine rebounds
per game against Texas Woman’s and Cameron. The junior forward recorded 9 points and 9 rebounds in the
two games including 13 points and 10 rebounds against Cameron. Iwobi also had two blocks and two steals.

The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team saw great performances from Chaunce Hill and
Lawrence Domingo Thursday, with both players recording season-high double-doubles in their team’s 84-75
win over Wayland Baptist University for their home opener. Domingo recorded 18 points and a career-high 14
rebounds on the night. Hill had an all-around amazing game, recording a career-high 17 rebounds while scoring
12 points and also recording a career-high five blocks. His 17 boards is tied for third most in a single game for
ENMU (4-8) while his five blocks was tied for second in the Greyhound’s history books. While Eastern only shot

MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT
The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s
Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
The Lone Star Conference and Frisco Convention &
Visitors Bureau will host the event March 23-24-26.
The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas
for the first time ever at Dr Pepper Arena, a multi-
purpose sports and entertainment venue that seats
about 5,000 for basketball.

37 percent from the floor, they punished the Pioneers
(10-3) on the glass, out rebounding WBU 57-44. This
created a lot of second and third opportunities on
offense for the Greyhounds, who took advantage of
the rebound margin by scoring 19 second chance
points compared to WBU’s four. Javaan Mumtaz led
all scorers with 19 points, going 5-11 from the field
and 2-5 from beyond the three point line. Chris
Wyms made his 2015-16 season debut after missing
the fall semester, scoring 17 points with nine of those
points coming from the free throw line. Perhaps not
filling out the stat sheet, but none the less playing a
major role in the Greyhound win, was freshman Brady
Paterson, who logged 32 minutes and was assigned
to the Pioneers top scorer on defense. Robert Waters
came into the matchup averaging a team-high 24
points per game and was held to only 3-14 from the
floor and 12 points total by Paterson. Nine of his 12
points came in the final minutes when Wayland was
desperately trying to close the gap on the Hounds.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State opened post-holiday play with a
pair of wins over NAIA Sooner Athletic Conference
teams in Oklahoma Science & Arts (105-82) and St.
Gregory’s (Okla.) (103-57)... MSU has scored 100
points three times in a regular season for the first
time since 2010-11... The Mustangs went over the
century mark in consecutive games for the first time
since beating Texas A&M-Commerce (102-94) on Dec.
20, 2010 and Mid-America Christian (104-55) on Dec.
30, 2010... The Mustangs have won at least 11 of
their first 12 games for the seventh time in program
history and for the fifth time since the start of the
1998-99 season... MSU coach Nelson Haggerty has
been a part of four of the best seven starts through
12 games in school history as the Mustangs were 14-0
in 2009-10, 12-1 in 2010-11 and 13-0 in 2011-12...
MSU has one eight consecutive games for the first
time since reeling off 11 consecutive victories form
Jan. 25-March 7, 2014... The Mustangs connected on
at least 10 3-pointers while shooting 50 percent from
the field for the third time this season going for 12
3s while shooting 52.9 percent from the field against
St. Gregory’s (Okla.)... MSU continues to lead NCAA
Division II in rebounding margin (+12.7) after out-
boarding St. Gregory’s 56-31 Saturday night... The
Mustangs have controlled at least a +10 edge on the

Saturday... Golden came out the winter break on
fire knocking down 9-of-15 of his shots from beyond
the arc (60 percent)... Senior guard Bretson McNeal
quietly knocked down three 3-pointers in wins over
USAO and St. Gregory’s averaging 13.5 points while
shooting 50 percent from the field (9-of-18) and the
3-point line (6-of-12)... McNeal, who has connected
on 111 3s over the last two seasons, needs 18 triples
to move past Jovani Allen (128 3s from 2002-04) to
move into MSU’s all-time top 10 in made 3-pointers...
Senior forward Khapri Alston notched his fifth double-
double of the season finishing with 13 points and 10
rebounds against USAO... Senior guard Hershell Grant
poured in a career-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting
with two 3-pointers to go along with seven rebounds
and four assists against St. Gregory’s... Senior
forward Nick Powell connected on two 3-pointers on
his way to a career-high 10 points Thursday against
USAO then followed up with seven points and eight
rebounds in 15 minutes against St. Gregory’s...
Powell accounted for 17 of the 18 points he’s scored
this season in the last two games... Senior forward
Trevor Fuller matched a season high with nine points
on 4-of-4 shooting against USAO... Fuller was not
credited with a blocked shot for the first time this
season against St. Gregory’s snapping a string of 11
consecutive games with a block... Sophomore guard
Mike Udume notched a season-high eight points
against USAO and has knocked down a 3-pointer in
three of his last four games... Junior forward Magnus
Richards matched a season-high with seven points
against St. Gregory’s after snatching a season-high
six rebounds against USAO... Junior guard Pat Smith
dished out a career-high 10 assists in MSU’s 103-57
win over St. Gregory’s...
Tarleton State
No. 12 Tarleton improved to 11-2 on the season and
1-0 in the Lone Star Conference. The Texans defeated
Southeastern Oklahoma State 81-55 on Dec. 31.
It was the 15th straight time Tarleton defeated the
Savage Storm. Tarleton opened LSC play with a 71-
61 win over Cameron on Jan. 2 and gave head coach
Lonn Reisman his 600th career win at Tarleton.
Reisman became the sixth active Division II head
coach and the 16th all time to reach 600 career wins.

The Buffs went 1-1 this past week following their
mandatory NCAA holiday break as they fell to
Cameron in the Lone Star Conference opener, 83-80
in an overtime thriller before responding with a 87-
74 win over Oklahoma City on Saturday afternoon in
Canyon. WT jumps back into Lone Star Conference
action on Wednesday night as they host the No. 9
Mustangs of Midwestern State with tipoff set for 7:30
p.m. in the doubleheader finale of a Highway 287
Challenge Cup matchup. The Mustangs are currently
10-1 overall as they carry a seven game winning
streak into a Saturday matchup with St. Gregory’s (6
p.m.) in Wichita Falls, Texas before opening LSC play
in Canyon on Wednesday night.

The Eastern New Mexico University women’s
basketball team snapped a three-game skid and
debuted at Greyhound Arena with a 71-60 win over
Northern New Mexico. The victory completed a
three-game sweep of in-state opponents in regular-
season games. Kassandra Harris notched her first
double double, with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while
Eliza Martinez blocked three shots. The Hounds led
for all but 1:20 of play and held decisive advantages
in second-chance and fast break points. This week,
ENMU will open Lone Star Conference play, with
home games against Texas Woman’s and Cameron.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State fell to 1-10 on the season Saturday
after a 71-45 setback to Texas Woman’s in the Lone
Star Conference opener for the Mustangs. MSU
forced a season-high 25 turnovers while committing
a season-low 12 miscues. However, the Mustangs
offense managed just 23.4 percent shooting and
the Pioneers knocked down half of their shots. MSU
continues LSC play Wednesday against No. 2 West
Texas A&M in Canyon.
Tarleton State
Tarleton fell to 6-6 and 0-2 in the Lone Star
Conference after coming up short to Texas Woman’s
and Cameron. The TexAnns dropped its LSC opener to
Texas Woman’s 72-62 and the next game to Cameron
83-71. Tarleton will take on Angelo State Jan. 6 at 5:30
in Wisdom Gym.

Texas Woman’s
TWU opened the Lone Star Conference with a 2-0
record for the first time since 2010-11. The Pioneers
defeated Tarleton State, 72-62, in the LSC opener on
New Year’s Eve and then cruised to a 26-point win,
71-45, against Midwestern State on Jan. 2. TWU held
its two opponents to just 28.0 percent shooting and
53.5 points per game. Against TSU freshman Kara
Mitchell led the team with 16 points while junior Erin
Maxwell added 14 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.
Sophomore Alexis Nezianya finished with nine points,
11 rebounds and three blocks while junior Kenesha
Saygo added 11 points. Against the Mustangs,
Maxwell posted a near double-double with a team-
best 20 points, nine rebounds and six blocks. Saygo
also reached double digits with 12 points while
Mitchell added nine points and five assists. Nezianya
finished with seven points and six rebounds. On the
season Maxwell is the team leader in points (12.6
ppg), rebounds (8.8 rpg) and blocks (48). Saygo is
averaging 9.5 points while Mitchell has 8.9 ppg and
