LSC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
West Texas A&M remains unbeaten this season at 14-0 overall and 6-0 in Lone Star Conference games to sit atop the
standings.
League play rolls on this week with one game Tuesday, five Thursday and five Saturday.
The LSC women are 72-74 overall. The women’s squads are currently 19-17 combined against the Heartland, and 10-
12 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
McKinley Bostad, Tarleton State University, JR, Guard, Kennedale, Texas, Kennedale HS
Bostad turned in three straight stellar offensive performances to lead the TexAnns to three straight wins - pushing their
winning streak to five. Bostad, a junior from Kennedale, scored in double figures in all three games over the last week
and led the team with 14.3 points per game while shooting .444 from the floor, .538 from beyond the arc, and .923 at
the free throw line. Her week began with a 16-point performance against Southeastern Oklahoma to close out the 2017
calendar year. She followed up with 14 points in 26 minutes to lead Tarleton to a 72-56 rout of Angelo State to open the
new campaign and then turned in a near non-traditional double-double with 13 points and nine assists in a 60-43 win
against Texas A&M-Kingsville. In addition to her 43 points on offense, Bostad grabbed eight rebounds, swiped seven
steals, had one block, and led the team with 15 assists for the week. Tarleton outscored its opponents 192-148 over the
last three games with Bostad at the forefront.
DEFENSIVE
Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State University, SO, Forward, Burleson, Texas, Burleson HS
Hailey was dominant on the defensive end as she led Tarleton to three straight wins to push the TexAnns' winning streak
to five. Hailey led the team with 28 rebounds in three games, including 19 on the defensive end, and boasted back-to-
back double-doubles to lead Tarleton to a pair of Lone Star Conference wins against Angelo State and Texas A&M-
Kingsville. Hailey opened the new calendar year with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tarleton
past Angelo State and followed up with a 15-point, 11-rebound effort in Tarleton's best defensive showing the of the
season. The Hailey-lead defense held Texas A&M-Kingsville to just 11 points in the first half, which is the lowest allowed
in a half since Dec. 2, 2013 against Arlington Baptist. Over that dominant opening half, Hailey and the TexAnns held
Kingsville without a field goal for 16:07 between the first and second quarter for an .091 percentage from the floor and
forced 14 turnovers in the opening half. Hailey had a team high four blocks against the Javelinas. For the week, Hailey
totaled seven blocks and had nine steals to go along with her 31 points and 28 rebounds. She anchored the Tarleton
defense that held its three opponents to 49.3 points per game on a .340 shooting clip.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Ciara Fields, Western New Mexico, paced the Lady Mustangs with 37 points against Eastern New Mexico and Texas
Woman's. She made nearly 40 percent from the field in tallying 19 points against the Greyhounds, along with five
rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Fields followed that up with 18 points, three rebounds and three steals against the
Pioneers. She cashed in at the foul line making 9-10 and also connected on four three-pointers.
Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was an efficient scorer for the Lions in their two wins last week.
She had 17 points against A&M-Kingsville, shooting 8-for-11 in the game in the 63-48 win. She then had 16 points and a
season-high nine rebounds against Angelo State in the Lions' four-point win over the Rambelles. Nine of her points came
in the fourth quarter with the game on the line. Gay is fifth in the LSC in scoring and is tied for the best field goal
percentage in the conference.
Madison Parker, West Texas A&M University, continued her strong senior campaign over the holiday break as the
Canyon product led the Lady Buffs to victories over University of the Southwest, Midwestern State and Cameron to
move to 14-0 overall. Parker went 17-of-25 from the floor including 6-of-9 from the free throw line with 27 total
rebounds to average 9.0 per contest to go along with 13.3 points per game. The senior scored a career-high 23 points
on December 29th against USW as she went 9-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe with 10 rebounds
for a double-double.
Dezirae Hampton, Angelo State University, tied her career high with 15 points against Texas A&M-Commerce. The
junior averaged a team high 13.0 points per game last week. She added 11 points and eight rebounds versus Tarleton
State. It is her 10th game in double figures including her sixth straight.
Mikaehla Connor, Eastern New Mexico University, paced the team with 12.7 over the last two weeks. Her 15 points
and seven rebounds against fourth-ranked Lubbock Christian led ENMU and her 11 second-half points helped the
Hounds post a 33-29 scoring edge over the Lady Chaps in the second half. Connor followed with an eight-point
performance in Tuesday's LSC win over Western New Mexico. She wrapped up the week with a 15-point, two assist
outing in a tight win over Texas Woman's. Her .538 shooting percentage in the game was more than 16 percent higher
than the team average.
Kristin Rydell, Midwestern State University, was the most consistent performer for Midwestern State this past
weekend. The Hutto native averaged 8.0 points per game and shot 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. Against second-
ranked West Texas A&M, the guard poured in seven points with three rebounds and four assists while committing only
one turnover. On Saturday against UT Permian Basin, Rydell knocked down a trio of treys, shooting 60 percent from
deep.
Ekiya Gray, Angelo State University, led the Belles defensively averaging a double-double for the week. The senior
scored 12.0 points per game and grabbed 10.0 rebounds per contest. She recorded a career high 12 rebounds against
Tarleton State and totaled 16 defensive rebounds in the two games. The Houston native made .643 from the field to
help her 12.0 points per game average.
Jade Botelho, Western New Mexico, went for a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds versus Texas
Woman's, along with two assists and two steals. She pulled down five more rebounds against Eastern New Mexico,
along with two blocks, a steal and eight points.
Tiana Parker, West Texas A&M University, continued to dominate in the paint for the No. 2 Lady Buffs over the
holiday break as the Tennessee State transfer led the Lady Buffs to wins over University of the Southwest, Midwestern
State and Cameron to move to 14-0 overall. The Chehalis, Washington native went 8-of-20 from the floor to shoot 40%
and average 6.0 points per contest while grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game and swatting away eight shots in three games.
WT allowed just 50.3 points per contest during the holiday break while opponents shot just 31.3%.
Jasmine Richardson, Midwestern State University, was a crucial part of the MSU defense this past weekend as the
Mustangs held second-ranked West Texas A&M to just 15.0 percent from beyond the arc on 3-for-20 shooting. The
senior pulled down a team-high seven boards as the Mustangs outrebounded the Lady Buffs. Against UT Permian Basin,
Richardson scored eight points, doing most of her damage from the free throw line, going 8-for-10 from the stripe.
Brandi Gomez, Eastern New Mexico University, defensive presence helped the Greyhounds post a 2-1 record in
games against Western New Mexico, Texas Woman's and fourth-ranked Lubbock Christian. With five steals and a
blocked shot, she helped limit the opposition to a .301 shooting percentage and 56.3 points per game. Gomez had three
steals and 14 points in ENMU's two-point victory over Texas Woman's on Thursday evening.
Princess Davis, Texas A&M University-Commerce, played all but nine minutes for the Lions in their two wins last
week. She had three steals in the Lions' 15 point win over A&M-Kingsville and helped hold the Javelinas to 48 points.
Davis then had 19 points against Angelo State in the Lions' 78-74 win. Davis had a key block late in the game as the Lions
went on a late run to win the game. She played 37 minutes in the game and also hit key free throws in the win. Davis is
8th in the LSC in assists, 10th in steals and 5th in minutes per game.

Cameron
The Aggie women went 1-1 last weekend as they beat UT Permian Basin, 70-50 and then fell to No. 2 West Texas A&M,
70-49. Jamie Bonnarens led the way for CU, averaging 18 points and 5.5 rebounds, while Lejha Smith chipped in with an
average of 8.5 points and nine rebounds during the two game stretch.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team posted a 2-1 record over the last two weeks. In late December,
ENMU played a tight game against fourth-ranked Lubbock Christian and held a 20-5 lead in second-chance points. Last
week, the Hounds posted key Lone Star Conference wins over Western New Mexico and Texas Woman's. Mikaehla
Connor led the charge with 12.7 points, while Brandi Gomez had five steals. This week, the Greyhounds will visit
Cameron and Midwestern State.
Midwestern State
The Midwestern State Mustangs fell to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in Lone Star Conference play after a pair of setbacks at
second-ranked West Texas A&M (64-46) and UT Permian Basin (59-57). The three-game losing streak is the longest by
the Mustangs this season. Senior guard Whitney Taylor moved into second place on the all-time made three point list
with 133 career treys. Senior guard Jasmine Richardson extended her streak of scoring at least five points to eight of the
last nine games.
Tarleton State
Tarleton won all three games over the last week to push their winning streak to five in a row. The TexAnns will return to
action this week at Texas A&M-Commerce Tuesday and Texas Woman's Thursday.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions got two conference wins last season and are in sole possession of second place in the LSC standings. A&M-
Commerce defeated A&M-Kingsville 63-48 on Thursday and Angelo State 78-74 on Saturday. The Lions are three games
above .500 for the first time this season. They will host Tarleton State on Tuesday to finish their three-game home
stand. They will then face Texas Woman's on Saturday in Denton.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
0-3 since Dec. 20.

UT Permian Basin
UTPB split a pair of conference games this past weekend, falling 70-50 against Cameron and defeating Midwestern State
59-57. Kayla Bretherton led the Falcons with 12 points and four assists against the Aggies. Sierra LaGrande led UTPB with
17 points, hitting 4-8 from 3-point range. Khali Pippins-Tryon added 13 points, all in the second half, on 5-6 shooting
from the field.
West Texas A&M
The No. 2 Lady Buffs continued to roll during the holiday break as they topped University of the Southwest, Midwestern
State and Cameron to move to 14-0 overall with a 6-0 mark in the Lone Star Conference to sit alone atop of the league
standings. The Lady Buffs outscored their opponents by 33.7 points during the three contests as they shot 51.1% from
the floor. The stingy WT defense allowed just 50.3 points per game and a shooting percentage of 31.3% during the three
wins. WT returns to Lone Star Conference action on Thursday night as they head to San Angelo, Texas to take on the
rival Belles of Angelo State with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the Junell Center.
Western New Mexico
WNMU stayed close against Eastern New Mexico before the Greyhounds pulled away for the win. Against Texas
Woman's, it came down to the final few minutes, with the Lady Mustangs have a few chances to tie or take the lead, but
fell just short. Ciara Fields paced the offense with 37 points, while Jade Botelho had a double-double against the
Pioneers and led the team with 15 rebounds, while sending back two blocks and swiping three steals. Fields paced the

League play rolls on this week with one game Tuesday, five Thursday and five Saturday. The LSC women are 72-74 overall. The women’s squads are currently 19-17 combined against the Heartland, and 10- 12 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region. LSC schedule and results available here: http://www.lonestarconference.org/calendar.aspx?path=wbball&& PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE McKinley Bostad, Tarleton State University, JR, Guard, Kennedale, Texas, Kennedale HS Bostad turned in three straight stellar offensive performances to lead the TexAnns to three straight wins - pushing their winning streak to five. Bostad, a junior from Kennedale, scored in double figures in all three games over the last week and led the team with 14.3 points per game while shooting .444 from the floor, .538 from beyond the arc, and .923 at the free throw line. Her week began with a 16-point performance against Southeastern Oklahoma to close out the 2017 calendar year. She followed up with 14 points in 26 minutes to lead Tarleton to a 72-56 rout of Angelo State to open the new campaign and then turned in a near non-traditional double-double with 13 points and nine assists in a 60-43 win against Texas A&M-Kingsville. In addition to her 43 points on offense, Bostad grabbed eight rebounds, swiped seven steals, had one block, and led the team with 15 assists for the week. Tarleton outscored its opponents 192-148 over the last three games with Bostad at the forefront. DEFENSIVE Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State University, SO, Forward, Burleson, Texas, Burleson HS Hailey was dominant on the defensive end as she led Tarleton to three straight wins to push the TexAnns' winning streak to five. Hailey led the team with 28 rebounds in three games, including 19 on the defensive end, and boasted back-to- back double-doubles to lead Tarleton to a pair of Lone Star Conference wins against Angelo State and Texas A&M- Kingsville. Hailey opened the new calendar year with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tarleton past Angelo State and followed up with a 15-point, 11-rebound effort in Tarleton's best defensive showing the of the season. The Hailey-lead defense held Texas A&M-Kingsville to just 11 points in the first half, which is the lowest allowed in a half since Dec. 2, 2013 against Arlington Baptist. Over that dominant opening half, Hailey and the TexAnns held Kingsville without a field goal for 16:07 between the first and second quarter for an .091 percentage from the floor and forced 14 turnovers in the opening half. She anchored the Tarleton defense that held its three opponents to 49.3 points per game on a .340 shooting clip. WEEKLY AWARDS Offensive N-15 Desiree Phipps, Texas Woman's N-21 Brianna Wise, Texas A&M-Commerce N-27 Madison Parker, West Texas A&M D-4 Brianna Wise, Texas A&M-Commerce (2) D-11 Whitney Taylor, Midwestern State D-20 Lexy Hightower, West Texas A&M J-8 McKinley Bostad, Tarleton State Defensive N-15 Deleyah Harris, West Texas A&M N-21 Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M-Commerce N-27 De'Anira Moore, Angelo State D-4 Lejha Smith, Cameron D-11 Marquita Daniels, Angelo State D-20 De'Anira Moore, Angelo State (2) J-8 Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Ciara Fields, Western New Mexico, paced the Lady Mustangs with 37 points against Eastern New Mexico and Texas Woman's. She made nearly 40 percent from the field in tallying 19 points against the Greyhounds, along with five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Fields followed that up with 18 points, three rebounds and three steals against the Pioneers. She cashed in at the foul line making 9-10 and also connected on four three-pointers. Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was an efficient scorer for the Lions in their two wins last week. She had 17 points against A&M-Kingsville, shooting 8-for-11 in the game in the 63-48 win. She then had 16 points and a season-high nine rebounds against Angelo State in the Lions' four-point win over the Rambelles. Nine of her points came in the fourth quarter with the game on the line. Gay is fifth in the LSC in scoring and is tied for the best field goal percentage in the conference. Madison Parker, West Texas A&M University, continued her strong senior campaign over the holiday break as the Canyon product led the Lady Buffs to victories over University of the Southwest, Midwestern State and Cameron to move to 14-0 overall. Parker went 17-of-25 from the floor including 6-of-9 from the free throw line with 27 total rebounds to average 9.0 per contest to go along with 13.3 points per game. Kristin Rydell, Midwestern State University, was the most consistent performer for Midwestern State this past weekend. The Hutto native averaged 8.0 points per game and shot 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. Against second- ranked West Texas A&M, the guard poured in seven points with three rebounds and four assists while committing only one turnover. On Saturday against UT Permian Basin, Rydell knocked down a trio of treys, shooting 60 percent from deep. Ekiya Gray, Angelo State University, led the Belles defensively averaging a double-double for the week. The senior scored 12.0 points per game and grabbed 10.0 rebounds per contest. She recorded a career high 12 rebounds against Tarleton State and totaled 16 defensive rebounds in the two games. The Houston native made .643 from the field to help her 12.0 points per game average. Jade Botelho, Western New Mexico, went for a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds versus Texas Woman's, along with two assists and two steals. She pulled down five more rebounds against Eastern New Mexico, along with two blocks, a steal and eight points. Tiana Parker, West Texas A&M University, continued to dominate in the paint for the No. 2 Lady Buffs over the holiday break as the Tennessee State transfer led the Lady Buffs to wins over University of the Southwest, Midwestern State and Cameron to move to 14-0 overall. The Chehalis, Washington native went 8-of-20 from the floor to shoot 40% and average 6.0 points per contest while grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game and swatting away eight shots in three games. WT allowed just 50.3 points per contest during the holiday break while opponents shot just 31.3%. Jasmine Richardson, Midwestern State University, was a crucial part of the MSU defense this past weekend as the Mustangs held second-ranked West Texas A&M to just 15.0 percent from beyond the arc on 3-for-20 shooting. The senior pulled down a team-high seven boards as the Mustangs outrebounded the Lady Buffs. Against UT Permian Basin, Richardson scored eight points, doing most of her damage from the free throw line, going 8-for-10 from the stripe. Brandi Gomez, Eastern New Mexico University, defensive presence helped the Greyhounds post a 2-1 record in games against Western New Mexico, Texas Woman's and fourth-ranked Lubbock Christian. With five steals and a blocked shot, she helped limit the opposition to a .301 shooting percentage and 56.3 points per game. Gomez had three steals and 14 points in ENMU's two-point victory over Texas Woman's on Thursday evening. Princess Davis, Texas A&M University-Commerce, played all but nine minutes for the Lions in their two wins last week. She had three steals in the Lions' 15 point win over A&M-Kingsville and helped hold the Javelinas to 48 points. Davis then had 19 points against Angelo State in the Lions' 78-74 win. Davis had a key block late in the game as the Lions went on a late run to win the game. She played 37 minutes in the game and also hit key free throws in the win. Cameron The Aggie women went 1-1 last weekend as they beat UT Permian Basin, 70-50 and then fell to No. 2 West Texas A&M, 70-49. Jamie Bonnarens led the way for CU, averaging 18 points and 5.5 rebounds, while Lejha Smith chipped in with an average of 8.5 points and nine rebounds during the two game stretch. Eastern New Mexico The Eastern New Mexico women's basketball team posted a 2-1 record over the last two weeks. Midwestern State The Midwestern State Mustangs fell to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in Lone Star Conference play after a pair of setbacks at second-ranked West Texas A&M (64-46) and UT Permian Basin (59-57). The three-game losing streak is the longest by the Mustangs this season. Senior guard Whitney Taylor moved into second place on the all-time made three point list with 133 career treys. Senior guard Jasmine Richardson extended her streak of scoring at least five points to eight of the last nine games. Tarleton State Tarleton won all three games over the last week to push their winning streak to five in a row. Texas A&M-Commerce The Lions got two conference wins last season and are in sole possession of second place in the LSC standings. A&M- Commerce defeated A&M-Kingsville 63-48 on Thursday and Angelo State 78-74 on Saturday. The Lions are three games above .500 for the first time this season. They will host Tarleton State on Tuesday to finish their three-game home stand. They will then face Texas Woman's on Saturday in Denton. Texas A&M-Kingsville 0-3 since Dec. 20. Texas Woman’s 1-1 last week. UT Permian Basin UTPB split a pair of conference games this past weekend, falling 70-50 against Cameron and defeating Midwestern State 59-57. Kayla Bretherton led the Falcons with 12 points and four assists against the Aggies. Sierra LaGrande led UTPB with 17 points, hitting 4-8 from 3-point range. Khali Pippins-Tryon added 13 points, all in the second half, on 5-6 shooting from the field. West Texas A&M The No. 2 Lady Buffs continued to roll during the holiday break as they topped University of the Southwest, Midwestern State and Cameron to move to 14-0 overall with a 6-0 mark in the Lone Star Conference to sit alone atop of the league standings. The Lady Buffs outscored their opponents by 33.7 points during the three contests as they shot 51.1% from the floor. The stingy WT defense allowed just 50.3 points per game and a shooting percentage of 31.3% during the three wins. WT returns to Lone Star Conference action on Thursday night as they head to San Angelo, Texas to take on the rival Belles of Angelo State with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the Junell Center.
