Angelo State, Tarleton State, and West Texas A&M remain undefeated in Lone Star Conference play. ASU is also
one of eight unbeaten NCAA Division II teams this season at 10-0 overall.
LSC play is in full swing this week with one league contest Tuesday and four on both Thursday and Saturday.
The LSC men have a 89-37 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 21-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 14-4 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, JR, Guard, Arlington, Texas, Bowie HS
Chavlovich scored a career-high 36 points and moved into third place on West Texas A&M’s all-time scoring
list as the No. 11 Buffaloes started fast and never looked back in a 95-63 win over the NAIA’s No. 5 Stars of
Oklahoma City on New Year’s Eve at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. The Buffs ran their win streak to
10 games. Chavlovich’s 36 points match the highest point total by a Lone Star Conference player this season,
and also ties for 10th all-time for the most points scored by a Buff in a single-game with Cedrick Wilbon (1996)
and Simmie Hill (1968, 1969). The junior moved into third place on WT’s scoring list as he went 9-of-19 from
the floor, 6-of-10 from deep and 12-of-12 from the free throw line.
DEFENSIVE
Justin Hollins, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Houston, Texas, Trent International
Hollins anchored the Angelo State defense as it went 2-0 for the week. The senior recorded nine blocked shots
including a six-block performance against Cameron on the road. Hollins leads the conference with 3.3 blocks
per game to assist the Rams in obtaining a LSC leading 5.70 blocks per game. With a total of 12 boards for the
week, he averaged six rebounds per game.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Trey Seymore, Texas A&M University - Commerce, scored a career-high 26 points in the Lions’ 78-76 win over
Southern Arkansas. Seymore was the lead ball handler for the Lions and helped the Lions jump out to an early
lead. He hit two three-pointers as part of a 10-0 run by the Lions to hang with the Muleriders in the first half. He
continued to get shots up and made crucial free throws late to help the Lions escape with the two-point road
victory. Seymore has risen to sixth overall in scoring in the conference.
Ridell Camidge, Tarleton State University, posted a game-high 23 points in a 19-point win for No. 11 Tarleton
over Ouachita Baptist on New Years Eve. It’s the second straight game of at least 23 points for Camidge. The
junior guard shot 64 percent from the floor at connected on 5 of 7 3-point attempts. Camidge scored 16 of his
23 points in the second half to help Tarleton extend a four-point halftime lead to 30 points in the final minutes.
Joe Clarke, Eastern New Mexico University, paced the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team
with a 20-point effort in a win over Wayland Baptist. The Pioneers entered the contest ranked 21st in the NAIA.
The junior forward set career highs in both field goals (8) and points (20). Clarke had 11 points in the opening
half and remained consistent through the game with a .571 shooting percentage.
Lorenzo Dillard, Angelo State University, headed the Rams offensive attack as it went 2-0 for the week. The
junior point guard scored a team most 37 points, which averaged him 18.5 points per game. The Chicago native
went 15-24 from inside the arc and 7-9 from the charity stripe. He dropped in a career second 21 points on the
road against Cameron. Dillard also led the squad with 14 total assists on the week. This included tying a career
high with nine assists against Dallas Christian. Defensively, he added six steals to his numbers.
Willie McCray, Western New Mexico, paced four Mustangs in double-figures going for 14 points, while
adding three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 27 minutes. He went 4-11 from the field and added six free
throws. Ten of his points came in the second half, including a pair of crucial three-point-plays to help WNMU
claim the victory over Benedictine-Mesa.
Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, posted his fourth straight double-double by scoring 12 points and
grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds in a 19-point win over Ouachita Baptist. Jenkins shot 71 percent from the
floor and was the only player on either team to grab more than five rebounds. Jenkins helped Tarleton extend
a 4-point halftime lead to a 30-point second half advantage by holding the Tigers to 32 percent shooting in the
second half. Tarleton improved to 8-0 this season when Jenkins, the nation’s leader in total rebounds, records
a double-double.
Emery Range, Western New Mexico, was big on the defensive end pulling down 13 rebounds, with nine
coming on the defensive end. He also added a block, steal and a point, while leading the team in assists with
four. He started the game strong collecting nine rebounds, with six on the defensive end. Range also sent back
his block shot and snagged a steal in the first half. WNMU held the Redhawks to just 34 percent shooting and
forced 19 turnovers.
Dorian Armstrong, Texas A&M University - Commerce, was the defensive anchor for the Lions in their 78-76
win over Southern Arkansas. He had four blocked shots and a steal to help seal the win for A&M-Commerce.
SAU was held to just 18 points in the paint and 34 percent shooting, thanks in part due to Armstrong’s presence
inside. He grabbed seven defensive rebounds. He also made his impact on the offensive end. He scored 13
points on 50 percent shooting and had four assists to go along with five offensive rebounds. Armstrong leads
the conference in blocked shots and is seventh in rebounding average.

ASU is also one of eight unbeaten NCAA Division II teams this season at 10-0 overall. LSC play is in full swing this week with one league contest Tuesday and four on both Thursday and Saturday. The LSC men have a 89-37 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 21-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 14-4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, JR, Guard, Arlington, Texas, Bowie HS Chavlovich scored a career-high 36 points and moved into third place on West Texas A&M’s all-time scoring list as the No. 11 Buffaloes started fast and never looked back in a 95-63 win over the NAIA’s No. 5 Stars of Oklahoma City on New Year’s Eve at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. The Buffs ran their win streak to 10 games. Chavlovich’s 36 points match the highest point total by a Lone Star Conference player this season, and also ties for 10th all-time for the most points scored by a Buff in a single-game with Cedrick Wilbon (1996) and Simmie Hill (1968, 1969). The junior moved into third place on WT’s scoring list as he went 9-of-19 from the floor, 6-of-10 from deep and 12-of-12 from the free throw line. DEFENSIVE Justin Hollins, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Houston, Texas, Trent International Hollins anchored the Angelo State defense as it went 2-0 for the week. The senior recorded nine blocked shots including a six-block performance against Cameron on the road. Hollins leads the conference with 3.3 blocks per game to assist the Rams in obtaining a LSC leading 5.70 blocks per game. With a total of 12 boards for the week, he averaged six rebounds per game. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Trey Seymore, Texas A&M University - Commerce, scored a career-high 26 points in the Lions’ 78-76 win over Southern Arkansas. Seymore was the lead ball handler for the Lions and helped the Lions jump out to an early lead. He hit two three-pointers as part of a 10-0 run by the Lions to hang with the Muleriders in the first half. He continued to get shots up and made crucial free throws late to help the Lions escape with the two-point road victory. Seymore has risen to sixth overall in scoring in the conference. Ridell Camidge, Tarleton State University, posted a game-high 23 points in a 19-point win for No. 11 Tarleton over Ouachita Baptist on New Years Eve. Lorenzo Dillard, Angelo State University, headed the Rams offensive attack as it went 2-0 for the week. The junior point guard scored a team most 37 points, which averaged him 18.5 points per game. The Chicago native went 15-24 from inside the arc and 7-9 from the charity stripe. He dropped in a career second 21 points on the road against Cameron. Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, posted his fourth straight double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds in a 19-point win over Ouachita Baptist. Jenkins shot 71 percent from the floor and was the only player on either team to grab more than five rebounds. Jenkins helped Tarleton extend a 4-point halftime lead to a 30-point second half advantage by holding the Tigers to 32 percent shooting in the second half.
