LSC BASKETBALL
Two Lone Star Conference teams - Angelo State men (12-0) and West Texas A&M women (10-0) - remain
undefeated during non-conference action. ASU set the record for the best start in program history.
	 LSC teams will resume play on December 31 after the mandatory NCAA Division II Winter Break with a mix
of conference and non-conference games.
	 The LSC men have a 67-25 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
	 The LSC women are 54-37 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-14 combined against the Heartland,
and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Stedman Allen, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Bronx, NY, Eagle Academy
Allen continues to be a major contributor to the Rams 12 game undefeated run and to its best start in program
history. The senior earned Holiday Hoops Classic tournament MVP honors this past week with a 39 point and
20 rebound performance over two days. Averaging 19.5 points per game this week, he was 15-31 for a .484 clip
from the field and 9-17 for .529 from the foul line. The forward earned his first double-double of the season
with a dropping in 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds against No. 16 Rollins on Saturday. This was his third
consecutive game scoring in double-digits and ninth of the season. Allen also added two assists and five steals
to his numbers during this week’s play.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Omari Gudul, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Kinshasa, DRC, Cretin-Laiser Hill Academy
Gudul has been a steady performer for the Rams and has solidified its defense during the Holiday Hoops Classic
this week. The senior has aided ASU in a 12-0 run that has captured the record for the best season start in
program history. In the two game played this week the big man grabbed 22 total rebounds and tallied six blocks
and two steals. This allow the forward to earn all-tournament team honors in the Las Vegas tournament. Gudul
also sunk 25 points for the week and earned his third double-double of the year with a 13 point and 13 rebound
performance against No. 16 Rollins. He has pulled down double-figure boards in seven of 12 games this year.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Gabby Scott, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Guard, Vancleave, Miss., Vancleave HS
Scott got back on track offensively to lead the Lions in scoring in a pair of wins last week. Against Henderson
State, Scott had 14 points and went a critical 3-of-5 in the second half. She added 10 points and six rebounds
versus East Central. For the week, Scott averaged 12 points and five rebounds with three assists.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Erin Maxwell, Texas Woman’s University, JR, Center, Dallas, Texas, Ursuline Academy
Maxwell averaged a double-double in the two wins last week. She led the Pioneers with 12.0 points, 11.5
rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game while shooting 55.0 percent from the floor. Maxwell recorded 10 points, 9
rebounds and 2 blocks against Oklahoma Baptist then posted a near triple-double with 14 points, 14 rebounds
and 8 blocks against LeMoyne-Owen. She helped TWU set or tie three school records including best start (10-2)
in program history, eight straight wins and single-game team blocks with 13 against LeMoyne-Owen. Maxwell
also helped the Pioneers hold its opponents to 51.0 points per game and 25.9 percent shooting.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Cameron Lee, Cameron University, averaged 21.5 points in the Aggies two wins last week, recording 19
points at Northwestern Oklahoma, and 24 points against Southwestern Adventist. Lee collected nine total
three-pointers, six of which were on Saturday night against the Knights. From the field, the Aggie senior shot
17-for-35 (.486) and dished out eight total assists for the CU offense. His 24 points on Saturday was one point
short of matching a career mark and helped push his season average to 13.7 points per game.
	 Charles Hill, Tarleton State University, caught fire for the Texans at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic
in Las Vegas, averaging 16.5 points per game The senior from Fort Worth scored 18 points on a .438 shooting
performance from the field Friday afternoon to help lift No. 7 Tarleton past No. 16 Rollins. He followed up with
a 15-point performance on a .462 shooting percentage in Saturday’s game against Drury. For the weekend, Hill
scored 33 points on 13-29 shooting from the floor for a .449 percentage, including 6-17 (.356) from downtown.
Hill added seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
	 Cris Boleware, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, scored a career-high 19 points vs. Virginia State, hitting four
three-pointers in the game... a day later, he drained a game winner with 1.6 seconds remaining as the Javelinas
improved to 8-3 on the year... for the week, Boleware registered two steals, four assists and four rebounds.
	 EJ Reed, Tarleton State University, continued his dominant senior season as the forward from Mesquite went
for back-to-back double-doubles in last weekend’s South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. Reed scored
11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, including six on the defensive end, to lift Tarleton past No. 16 Rollins Friday
before leading the Texans with 15 points and 10 rebounds, including nine on the defensive end, against Drury.
For the week, he totaled 26 points and 20 rebounds, including 15 defensive, while adding one block and three

steals. Led by Reed, the Tarleton defense held Rollins and Drury to .398 shooting from the floor, which includes
holding No. 16 Rollins to a .348 shooting performance in Friday’s 73-51 win.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Brea Mitchell, Angelo State University, averaged 16.0 points per game last week for Angelo State including a
season high 18. The senior forward hit .518 from the field and drained two three pointers. She added one steal
and a 5.5 rebounding average. The senior had back-to-back games with season high in points scoring 14 and
followed it up with 18.
	 Mikaehla Connor, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong performance for the Greyhounds at
the Sodexo Tip-off classic, and was selected to the all-tournament team for her efforts. She averaged 12.5
points and 5.5 rebounds per game and scored a career-best 15 against Concordia. Against the Cavaliers, Connor
connected on 60 percent of her attempts from the floor.
	 Morgan Ashmore, Tarleton State University, continued to lead the TexAnns on offense last week as the
senior from Spearman scored 23 points and dished out 11 assists in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in
Las Vegas to earn All-Tournament status. Led by a 13-point scoring effort to push the TexAnns past Stonehill
Friday night, Ashmore followed up with her third straight double-figure scoring performance – she had three
in her career before last Monday’s game against Oklahoma Baptist. In addition to her 23 points and 11 assists,
she shot .455 from the field and was 12-16 at the free throw line. She added three rebounds and three steals
for the weekend.
	 Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, came off the bench and averaged 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds
while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor in just 16.5 minutes in the two wins last week. She helped the
Pioneers set or tie three school records including best start (10-2) in program history, eight straight wins and
single-game team blocks with 13 against LeMoyne-Owen.
	 Amari Jones, Texas A&M University - Commerce, was great defensively, specifically when it comes to
rebounding. The senior had a total of 20 rebounds with 19 of them coming on the defensive end. Against East
Central, Jones recorded 13 total defensive rebounds, four points, one block, and one steal. Jones is ranked first
in rebounds per game in the Lone Star Conference averaging 9.6 rebounds per game and also first with 76 total
defensive rebounds. Jones is ranked 60th in the entire nation in total rebounds.
	 DJ Vallier , Cameron University, averaged 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Aggies last week to a pair
of wins. In the Aggie Gym against Southeastern Oklahoma, Vallier had a career night with 19 points and was a
perfect 6-for-6 from the field. The senior from Houston, Texas also had seven boards and three blocks against
the Savage Storm in the win. On Saturday, Vallier played only four minutes but picked up five points and seven
boards in a 83-41 blowout victory. Vallier and the Aggies held the Rangers to four made shots in the first half
and their 38 point victory was the largest against a NCAA member school in the program’s history.
	 Raven McGrath, Tarleton State University, was a defensive leader for the TexAnns at the South Point Holiday
Hoops Classic in Las Vegas as the senior from Grandview grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the two
games, including five on the defensive end. She added four steals and 21 points.
	 Briana White, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a strong defensive effort for the Greyhounds with
five steals and a blocked shot at the Sodexo Tip-off Classic. Her top performance came in a four-steal, one-block
performance against Seattle Pacific. White also connected on five of her seven three-point shots in that game
to pour in 23 points.
	 Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, led the Belles defense with an 8.5 rebounding average and a team
high 10 offensive rebounds. The nine rebounds against Wayland Baptist was a season high for the Jackson,
Mississippi native. The junior was also instrumental on offense scoring a season high 21 points and averaging
16.0 points per game.

Angelo State	
The No. 4/6 Angelo State Rams earned the record for the best start in program history this past week with a
12-0 overall record. The teams downed two opponents in the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada this
past week with one being a No.16 ranked Rollins (Fla.) team. Stedman Allen continues to be a major contributor
as he earned Holiday Hoops Classic tournament MVP honors this past week with a 39 point and 20 rebound
performance over two days. Averaging 19.5 points per game this week, he was 15-31 for a .484 clip from the
field and 9-17 for .529 from the foul line. Earning an all-tournament team selection, Omari Gudul pulled down
22 total boards, tallied six blocks and pocketed two steals for the ASU defense.

MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT
The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s
Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
The Lone Star Conference and Frisco Convention &
Visitors Bureau will host the event March 23-24-26.
	 The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas
for the first time ever at Dr Pepper Arena, a multi-
purpose sports and entertainment venue that seats
about 5,000 for basketball.

Texas A&M-Kingsville	
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 1-1 this week and head
into Lone Star Conference play with a 8-3 mark a year
after winning nine total games... the Hogs went 1-1
in the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout, defeating
Thomas on a game winner by Cris Boleware.
West Texas A&M

Mikaehla Connor paced Eastern New Mexico over
the weekend and earned all-tournament honors at
the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic. The Greyhounds dropped
games to Seattle Pacific and Concordia. Eastern will
return to action next Monday for an exhibition at
Texas-El Paso.
Midwestern State

Tarleton State	
Tarleton split its two games in last weekend’s debut
trip to Las Vegas for the South Point Holiday Hoops
Classic. The TexAnns knocked off Stonehill before
falling to Montana State-Billings. The TexAnns will
return to action on New Year’s Eve in Denton against
Texas Woman’s.
Texas A&M-Commerce	
The Lions are warming up at the right time as we
embark LSC play. The Lions went 2-0 this past week
after defeating East Central and Henderson State.
The Lions screen back-to-back wins for the first time
this season, and are 4-2 in their last six games. A&M-
Commerce will enter conference play 6-5 despite
an exhibition game against Stephen F. Austin on
Wednesday, December 30. Their first LSC opponent
will be Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday, January 6 at
The Field House in Commerce, Texas.
Texas A&M-Kingsville	
No regular season games played this week... the
Javelinas competed in two exhibition contests this
week, facing Lamar and UTSA... Roher finished in
double figures in both games... Texas A&M-Kingsville
heads into LSC play with a 5-5 regular season mark a
season after going winless.
Texas Woman’s	
TWU won both games to set two new school records.
The Pioneers improved to 10-2 on the season and
are off to a best start in the school history. TWU also
won its seventh and eighth straight wins to set a new
school record. The Pioneers held off a late Oklahoma
Baptist charge with a 66-60 victory Saturday and
then cruised to an 83-42 win over LeMoyne-Owen
on Sunday. TWU recorded 13 blocks against LOC to
tie the school record set on Nov. 20, 1987 against
Angelo State. Five Pioneers scored seven points or
more against OBU led by junior Kenesha Saygo with
11 points. Junior Erin Maxwell added 10 points and
cleared a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore
Morgan Easley added nine points while junior Andrea
Mapua and freshman Bri’anna Gray both came off the
bench and scored eight and seven points respectively.
Maxwell dominated the game and led all players with
14 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks. She set a
new career-high in blocks and tied her career-high in
rebounds. Maxwell also came one block shy of tying
TWU’s single-game record set by Peggy Allen during
the 1990-91 season. All 16 players on the team
appeared in the game and recorded either a point,
rebound or an assist. Easley also reached double
digits in the points with 12 while four other players
posted seven or more points. Spector came off the
bench and recorded nine points and seven rebounds
while senior Danielle Westerfield added eight points.
Sophomore Kayla Beattie and freshman Desiree
Phipps both posted career highs with seven points
each.
West Texas A&M

Integrity | Tradition | Academic Excellence | LONE STAR CONFERENCE | Community | Respect | Commitment LSC BASKETBALL Two Lone Star Conference teams - Angelo State men (12-0) and West Texas A&M women (10-0) - remain undefeated during non-conference action. ASU set the record for the best start in program history. LSC teams will resume play on December 31 after the mandatory NCAA Division II Winter Break with a mix of conference and non-conference games. The LSC men have a 67-25 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The LSC women are 54-37 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-14 combined against the Heartland, and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK MEN’S OFFENSIVE Stedman Allen, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Bronx, NY, Eagle Academy Allen continues to be a major contributor to the Rams 12 game undefeated run and to its best start in program history. The senior earned Holiday Hoops Classic tournament MVP honors this past week with a 39 point and 20 rebound performance over two days. Averaging 19.5 points per game this week, he was 15-31 for a .484 clip from the field and 9-17 for .529 from the foul line. The forward earned his first double-double of the season with a dropping in 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds against No. 16 Rollins on Saturday. This was his third consecutive game scoring in double-digits and ninth of the season. Allen also added two assists and five steals to his numbers during this week’s play. MEN’S DEFENSIVE Omari Gudul, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Kinshasa, DRC, Cretin-Laiser Hill Academy Gudul has been a steady performer for the Rams and has solidified its defense during the Holiday Hoops Classic this week. The senior has aided ASU in a 12-0 run that has captured the record for the best season start in program history. In the two game played this week the big man grabbed 22 total rebounds and tallied six blocks and two steals. This allow the forward to earn all-tournament team honors in the Las Vegas tournament. Gudul also sunk 25 points for the week and earned his third double-double of the year with a 13 point and 13 rebound performance against No. 16 Rollins. He has pulled down double-figure boards in seven of 12 games this year. WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE Gabby Scott, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Guard, Vancleave, Miss., Vancleave HS Scott got back on track offensively to lead the Lions in scoring in a pair of wins last week. Against Henderson State, Scott had 14 points and went a critical 3-of-5 in the second half. She added 10 points and six rebounds versus East Central. For the week, Scott averaged 12 points and five rebounds with three assists. WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE Erin Maxwell, Texas Woman’s University, JR, Center, Dallas, Texas, Ursuline Academy Maxwell averaged a double-double in the two wins last week. She led the Pioneers with 12.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game while shooting 55.0 percent from the floor. Maxwell recorded 10 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks against Oklahoma Baptist then posted a near triple-double with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 8 blocks against LeMoyne-Owen. She helped TWU set or tie three school records including best start (10-2) in program history, eight straight wins and single-game team blocks with 13 against LeMoyne-Owen. Maxwell also helped the Pioneers hold its opponents to 51.0 points per game and 25.9 percent shooting. MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Cameron Lee, Cameron University, averaged 21.5 points in the Aggies two wins last week, recording 19 points at Northwestern Oklahoma, and 24 points against Southwestern Adventist. Lee collected nine total three-pointers, six of which were on Saturday night against the Knights. From the field, the Aggie senior shot 17-for-35 (.486) and dished out eight total assists for the CU offense. His 24 points on Saturday was one point short of matching a career mark and helped push his season average to 13.7 points per game. Charles Hill, Tarleton State University, caught fire for the Texans at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, averaging 16.5 points per game The senior from Fort Worth scored 18 points on a .438 shooting performance from the field Friday afternoon to help lift No. 7 Tarleton past No. 16 Rollins. He followed up with a 15-point performance on a .462 shooting percentage in Saturday’s game against Drury. For the weekend, Hill scored 33 points on 13-29 shooting from the floor for a .449 percentage, including 6-17 (.356) from downtown. Hill added seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Cris Boleware, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, scored a career-high 19 points vs. Virginia State, hitting four three-pointers in the game... a day later, he drained a game winner with 1.6 seconds remaining as the Javelinas improved to 8-3 on the year... for the week, Boleware registered two steals, four assists and four rebounds. EJ Reed, Tarleton State University, continued his dominant senior season as the forward from Mesquite went for back-to-back double-doubles in last weekend’s South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Brea Mitchell, Angelo State University, averaged 16.0 points per game last week for Angelo State including a season high 18. The senior forward hit .518 from the field and drained two three pointers. She added one steal and a 5.5 rebounding average. The senior had back-to-back games with season high in points scoring 14 and followed it up with 18. Mikaehla Connor, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong performance for the Greyhounds at the Sodexo Tip-off classic, and was selected to the all-tournament team for her efforts. She averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and scored a career-best 15 against Concordia. Against the Cavaliers, Connor connected on 60 percent of her attempts from the floor. Morgan Ashmore, Tarleton State University, continued to lead the TexAnns on offense last week as the senior from Spearman scored 23 points and dished out 11 assists in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas to earn All-Tournament status. Led by a 13-point scoring effort to push the TexAnns past Stonehill Friday night, Ashmore followed up with her third straight double-figure scoring performance – she had three in her career before last Monday’s game against Oklahoma Baptist. In addition to her 23 points and 11 assists, she shot .455 from the field and was 12-16 at the free throw line. She added three rebounds and three steals for the weekend. Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, came off the bench and averaged 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor in just 16.5 minutes in the two wins last week. She helped the Pioneers set or tie three school records including best start (10-2) in program history, eight straight wins and single-game team blocks with 13 against LeMoyne-Owen. Amari Jones, Texas A&M University - Commerce, was great defensively, specifically when it comes to rebounding. The senior had a total of 20 rebounds with 19 of them coming on the defensive end. Against East Central, Jones recorded 13 total defensive rebounds, four points, one block, and one steal. Jones is ranked first in rebounds per game in the Lone Star Conference averaging 9.6 rebounds per game and also first with 76 total defensive rebounds. Jones is ranked 60th in the entire nation in total rebounds. DJ Vallier , Cameron University, averaged 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Aggies last week to a pair of wins. In the Aggie Gym against Southeastern Oklahoma, Vallier had a career night with 19 points and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. The senior from Houston, Texas also had seven boards and three blocks against the Savage Storm in the win. On Saturday, Vallier played only four minutes but picked up five points and seven boards in a 83-41 blowout victory. Vallier and the Aggies held the Rangers to four made shots in the first half and their 38 point victory was the largest against a NCAA member school in the program’s history. Raven McGrath, Tarleton State University, was a defensive leader for the TexAnns at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas as the senior from Grandview grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the two games, including five on the defensive end. She added four steals and 21 points. Briana White, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a strong defensive effort for the Greyhounds with five steals and a blocked shot at the Sodexo Tip-off Classic. Her top performance came in a four-steal, one-block performance against Seattle Pacific. White also connected on five of her seven three-point shots in that game to pour in 23 points. Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, led the Belles defense with an 8.5 rebounding average and a team high 10 offensive rebounds. The nine rebounds against Wayland Baptist was a season high for the Jackson, Mississippi native. The junior was also instrumental on offense scoring a season high 21 points and averaging 16.0 points per game. The teams downed two opponents in the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada this past week with one being a No.16 ranked Rollins (Fla.) team. Stedman Allen continues to be a major contributor as he earned Holiday Hoops Classic tournament MVP honors this past week with a 39 point and 20 rebound performance over two days. Averaging 19.5 points per game this week, he was 15-31 for a .484 clip from the field and 9-17 for .529 from the foul line. Earning an all-tournament team selection, Omari Gudul pulled down 22 total boards, tallied six blocks and pocketed two steals for the ASU defense. Cameron 1-0 last week. The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas for the first time ever at Dr Pepper Arena, a multi- purpose sports and entertainment venue that seats about 5,000 for basketball.

Texas A&M-Commerce The Lions are warming up at the right time as we embark LSC play. The Lions went 2-0 this past week after defeating East Central and Henderson State. The Lions screen back-to-back wins for the first time this season, and are 4-2 in their last six games. A&M- Commerce will enter conference play 6-5 despite an exhibition game against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, December 30. Their first LSC opponent will be Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday, January 6 at The Field House in Commerce, Texas. Texas A&M-Kingsville No regular season games played this week... the Javelinas competed in two exhibition contests this week, facing Lamar and UTSA... Roher finished in double figures in both games... Texas A&M-Kingsville heads into LSC play with a 5-5 regular season mark a season after going winless. Texas Woman’s TWU won both games to set two new school records. The Pioneers improved to 10-2 on the season and are off to a best start in the school history. TWU also won its seventh and eighth straight wins to set a new school record. The Pioneers held off a late Oklahoma Baptist charge with a 66-60 victory Saturday and then cruised to an 83-42 win over LeMoyne-Owen on Sunday. TWU recorded 13 blocks against LOC to tie the school record set on Nov. 20, 1987 against Angelo State. Five Pioneers scored seven points or more against OBU led by junior Kenesha Saygo with 11 points. Junior Erin Maxwell added 10 points and cleared a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Morgan Easley added nine points while junior Andrea Mapua and freshman Bri’anna Gray both came off the bench and scored eight and seven points respectively. Maxwell dominated the game and led all players with 14 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks. She set a new career-high in blocks and tied her career-high in rebounds. Maxwell also came one block shy of tying TWU’s single-game record set by Peggy Allen during the 1990-91 season. All 16 players on the team appeared in the game and recorded either a point, rebound or an assist. Easley also reached double digits in the points with 12 while four other players posted seven or more points. Spector came off the bench and recorded nine points and seven rebounds while senior Danielle Westerfield added eight points. Sophomore Kayla Beattie and freshman Desiree Phipps both posted career highs with seven points each. West Texas A&M 1-0 last week.
