Good Crop Painting Analysis
The painting Good Crop was done by Clarence Holbrook Carter in 1942. He used an oil based
medium on a canvas that was forty eight inches by twenty eight inches. This painting is from the era
of war and rationed goods. The idea for this painting originated from his neighbor Jim Jennings, a
farmer from down the road. He made the painting from just one basket of potatoes. Most of Carters
painting were based off of memories from his childhood. While looking at Good Crop, your eyes are
drawn to the first bucket of potatoes sitting on a wagon. From there your eyes bounce back and forth
between six buckets of potatoes leading you to a red rag laid across the front bucket. On this red rag
sits a farmer wearing light brown pants and a black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we look at the painting we will see that Carter used a variety of different shapes. He uses both
organic and geometric shapes. The organic shapes can be seen in the potatoes, bushes and horses. We
see the geometric shapes when we analyze the circular buckets that have rectangular handles. The
potatoes are unified together by the buckets, in which they are placed. From there we will notice that
the painting is asymmetrically balanced. Carter placed the farmer, the buckets of potatoes, wagon and
white horse on the left side. On the right is the dark brown horse and meadow. To balance the painting
out carter used an implied line, by having the farmer look off to his right. This is an implied line
because our eyes want to draw a connecting the drivers eyes to the far right of the painting. This
implied line adds weight to the right side. Using this implied line we can also note that Carter used
directional forces in this painting. Carter had the farmer look off to his right, which pulls our eyes to
the right. Therefore, creating directional forces. He also uses one point linear perspective. As we look
at the painting our eyes start at the bottom of the painting, where the road starts, and our eyes are
pulled up to a vanishing point on the

Tuberculosis Is A Disease That Affects Other Populations
Tuberculosis is a disease that affects many individuals throughout the world, and not always with the
same prevalence rates. For this research paper my goal is to explain and illustrate why certain
populations tend to have higher infection rates of tuberculosis than the average population in the
United States and what causes these higher rates. At what point do health officials step in and work on
prevention in these specific populations and why are we not implementing the tuberculosis shot for
these populations? The topic of Tuberculosis is significant as it affects many populations, but it also
does not affect all populations equally. Tuberculosis has an increased prevalence rate in homeless
individuals, African Americans, and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are currently a variety of vaccinations that are being tested and/or used throughout the world,
although they are rarely used in the United States (Kupferschmidt, 2011). There are several research
centers across the nation that are taking part of the research and development of these new vaccines
including Harvard University and the University of California, Los Angeles (Kupferschmidt, 2011).
These vaccinations are of great importance to some individuals, but its use is not perfect across all
samples (Kupferschmidt, 2011). Tuberculosis was first discovered as a disease in 1882 by a scientist
named Robert Koch (Rothman, 1994). Within a short period of time it was discovered that this was an
infectious disease, along with being a disease that affected certain populations (Rothman, 1994). It
was discovered that a vast majority of the individuals affected were either immigrant, therefore
generally a minority population, or were of poor or working class status (Rothman, 1994). Several
movements and directives were used during this time to attempt to stop the spread of tuberculosis,
such as, being outside in the clean air as much as possible, not drinking alcohol, and drinking plenty of
clean water, among others (Rothman, 1994). Between 1906 and 1919 a vaccine was developed by
Albert Calmette and Camille Geurin, a pair of French scientists, to help prevent this terrible disease
(Kupferschmidt, 2011). This BCG vaccine, or Bacillus

Davidson s Ipod Summary
Even so, an insider has advantages for seeing the situation more thoroughly, when they are loaded
with too much details, it causes them losing the essence part of the event. When Davidson expresses
her opinions about the new education, she has preconception too. She only wants her readers to see the
good side of her new education but doesn t recognize that her opinions are strongly engaged in every
example she gives. While she is talking about students are creative and invent their own way to utilize
the iPod for academic, she ignores the students who didn t do well, which can lead to misinterpretation
of the readers. Davidson fails to understand the advantages of modern education, and readers can also

Moreover, Loffreda mentions that the media is broadcasting an inaccurate appearance of Laramie and
overdraws the crime of Matt Shepard. She considers the media and many people as religious or
political leaders who are now talking about the Matt Shepard case as fake hypocrites. Loffreda
expresses her negative impression towards the people who show up to the protests after the incident,
states that there was a tremendous outpouring of support the vigils, the parade and a lot of people not
all of them, not even a substantial portion, but some of the people if they had known that Matt was gay
while he is alive, would have spit on him (Loffreda, 244). Loffreda assumes that most people who are
protesting and join the vigils, a portion of them are hypocrites, and are pretending because the event is
stretched into a nationwide issue that has a huge influence around the world. What Loffreda doesn t
admit, is that the media plays an important role in promoting concern of discrimination towards
minorities and more people are actually paying attention to the issue and trying to fix it. Nevertheless,
Loffreda does not catch that and she also generalizes those people as hypocrites, which is exactly what
she previously complains about the

Human Deficence In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Man
Another famous and influential work from T.S. Eliot is The Hollow Men. Likely influenced by World
War I, T. S. Eliot portrays a disconnect from humanity and a disillusionment with typical beliefs as a
source of human despair in The Hollow Men. The hollow men that the work is centered around are
depicted devoid of any human qualities that might provide them a relief from despair, such as hope or
faith. As is written in T. S. Eliot s Indigenous Critical Concepts and The Hollow Men by Muhammad
Khan Sangi and others, In this poem the human beings have been shown devoid of the qualities of
faith, moral strength, of personality, determination and that of humanity; they are like empty bodies,
lacking all human virtues (Sangi et al para 4). No matter how these qualities were lost to the
individuals, the result is constant and predictable: the individuals feel an inescapable despair. When
one has nothing to anticipate in life, no expectations or hopes, then life loses its meaning. This is the
world that the hollow men live in perpetually. The entire work, as Sangi describes, is a cry of despair
unrelieved by hope. The peculiarity of the poem is that it is an inner drama with the utmost economy
of words. The images echo the deadness of sensibility and the emptiness of hollow men who, like the
effigies, are fit only for burning (Sangi et al para 5). Again, the hollow men are depicted as worthless,
insofar as they are compared to effigies, the only purpose of which is to be

Nitrate Nitrite
However, nitrate reductase can further reduce nitrite to ammonia or molecular nitrogen, which does
not react with the reagents and does not produce a colour change. To verify nitrate has been reduced
past nitrite, zinc powder is added to the medium. If the medium does not change colour after the
addition of zinc powder, then the nitrates in the medium have been reduced further. If the bacterium
does not use nitrate, then the addition of zinc powder will reduce the nitrates in the medium to nitrite,
changing the medium to a pink or red colour.
I inoculated my bacteria into a tube containing nitrate broth, and waited until the next class day to add
the sulfanic acid and N,N dimethyl 1 naphthylamine. After adding the two reagents to my tube,

opportunity is not met in a quick manner, the fact of the matter is that there will not be a need for land

the EPA to be safer than previous practices. Henderson would need to be concerning that the land is

Managing Human Relations
Definition of Human Relations In our business world today, people who enter the workforce are
discovering that interpersonal skills represent a very important category of basic skills valued by
employers.
These skills can also help us to cope with a wide range of work life issues and conflicts that surface in
our lives. Besides that, these skills will also help us in areas such as interviewing to get a job in the
future, improving our personal communication skills and building and thus maintaining productive
relationships with others in the workplace. These skills lead to a term which is known as human
relations. Human relations is defined in its broadest sense which covers all types of interactions
among people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons is because organizations are advancing more to the age of
Information Technology (IT) and many things in the world nowadays are done by machines and
requires a minimal amount of manpower. This will lessen the job opportunities and even those who
have worked in the particular workplace will be forced to resign or quit their respective jobs. As an
effect of this, many organizations will shortlist those workers who are performing at a full pace and
achieving more goals than others to remain in the company and then hand in a resignation letter for
those workers who are underperforming or those who failed to achieve their goals. In order to tackle
this issue, many companies nowadays spend most of their time to train their employees so that they
could be better workers and would help the company to achieve more success in the future. When the
company trains their employees, the employees are expected to understand on what is required of
them during the day at work. Employees are also required to continuously build relationships with
their employers or managers of the company and also learn to accept the other employees which are
working together with them. In addition, another major reason on why human relations is important in
workplaces is because most companies are growing bigger and bigger compared to few years back.
Many large companies

Essay on Internal Control Risks
Internal Control Risks Identified in Apollo Shoes
Assessing control risk is the process of evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of a
company s internal controls as to how it prevents or detects material misstatements in the financial
statement assertions of management (Hayes, Dassen, Schilder, amp; Wallage, 2005). The conclusion
reached as a result of assessing control risk is referred to as the assessed level of control risk. When
assessing controls the auditor looks for weaknesses in a company s internal controls for two reasons:
to determine the nature and extent of the substantive tests the auditor will perform and to formulate
constructive suggestions for improvements (Hayes, Dassen, Schilder, amp; Wallage, 2005). ... Show

Pre numbering is meant to prevent both the failure to bill or record sales and the occurrence of
duplicate billings and recordings. However, it does not do much good to have pre numbered
documents unless they are properly accounted for. To use this control effectively, a billing clerk should
file a copy of all shipping documents in sequential order after each shipment is billed, while another
employee should periodically account for all numbers and investigate the reason for any missing
documents (Arens, Elder, amp; Beasley, 2012).
The sales order forms were kept in the sales clerk s working area where many people passed through
during the day. Estimated dollar amounts were prepared by sales clerks and written on the order
forms. The sales orders are then hand carried to the credit manager, who is in the treasurer s
department. Typically, the computer automatically prepares the sales invoice after the customer
number; quantity, destination of goods shipped, and sales terms are entered (Arens, Elder, amp;
Beasley, 2012). The computer calculates the invoice extensions and total sales amount using the
information entered, along with prices in the inventory master file.
The issues specified leave room for fraud and misstatements in sales, accounts receivable and revenue.

Hitler, the deranged psychopath who is responsible for the death of over nine million innocent people.
He was the person who started the deadliest war in history which led to millions of fatalities. Hitler
was a part of the NAZI party. They party promoted German nationalism and anti semitism. Even
though he had committed all these evil acts, he still influenced people to come up with some good
changes in society. On Easter Sunday, April 20, 1889, Hitler arrived at 6:30 in the evening ( What Is

family. He was always grumpy and had a terrible temper. He often took out his anger on his children.
Hitler s mother Klara was the complete opposite of Alois. Even though she dealt with an aggressive
and dominating husband, she was still very kind and caring towards her children . Adolf had five
siblings, but only one lived past their childhood ( What Is Known About Adolf Hitler s Childhood?).
His brother Gustav died at the age of two years old in 1887. His second brother Otto died before
reaching the age of one year old in 1887. His third brother Edmund died at the age of six years old in
1900. His first sister Ida died at the age of two years old in 1888. He did however have one sibling
who lived past their childhood. Her name was Paula Hitler, and she lived from 1896 to 1960, dieing at
the age of 64. Paula actually outlived Hitler by fifteen years. On January 3, 1903, when Hitler was
only fourteen, his father Alois died. On December 21, 1907, hitler s mother Klara died. Adolf Hitler s

What Is The Summer Trip Essay
Summer Trips Another feature of life in Rome was the summer trip. Each of us could travel for a
month during summer vacation, but if a member of one s family came over, we could travel longer, six
weeks or even two months. There were also some established itineraries. One was the shrine run and
another was the beer run. My first summer, the summer of 1957, I traveled with Victor Galeone and
Ralph Platz on the shrine run. We flew to Barcelona on an inexpensive student flight, did some
sightseeing there which included a one day pilgrimage to the Benedictine monastery at Monserrat
which is associated with St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). From
Barcelona we flew to Madrid near which there were many places of interest to us, e.g. Toledo, El

Dialysis Lab Report
According to dictionary.com, dialysis is the process by which uric acid and urea are removed from
circulating blood by means of a dialyzer . This is needed when a person has any stage of kidney failure
or other issues pertaining to their kidneys. The purpose of dialysis is for the machine to act as a kidney
and to take away waste, extra water, and salts. This in return helps control blood pressure and keep a
safe level of chemicals in your blood. In this paper I will discuss what it will be like as a dialysis nurse
and important things to know before my observation.
Objective 1: Role of a nurse in dialysis Nurses in dialysis have a variety of different tasks to perform.
Before dialysis occurs, the nurse must check the patient s vital signs while assessing their condition,
educate the patients about their diagnosis and treatment, as well as answer any questions they may
have. During the process it is the nurse s job to watch the treatment beginning to end, check
medications to be given and make sure the medications are correct. After dialysis the nurse must
evaluate the patient s reaction, review the lab work and medications, inform the doctor of any changes,
and support the patient and care team throughout the whole process.

Essay about Gun Control Problems and Solutions
The problem with guns is fairly obvious: they decrease the difficulty of killing or injuring a person. In
Jeffrey A. Roth s Firearms and Violence (NIJ Research in Brief, February 1994), he points out the
obvious dangers. About 60 percent of all murder victims in the United States in 1989 (about 12,000
people) were killed with firearms. Firearm attacks injured another 70,000 victims, some of whom
were left permanently disabled. In 1985, the cost of shootings was an estimated $14 billion nationwide
for medical care, long term disability, and premature death. In robberies and assaults, victims are far
more likely to die when the perpetrator is armed with a gun than when he or she has another weapon
or is unarmed. I believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been the position of the NRA for quite some time, and it is certainly one with which I agree;
Felons and ex cons should not have access to weapons, and many misdemeanors and juvenile crimes
should also count against a person s adult record. Stiffer sentences for gun crimes would be effective
in using fear of reprimand as a crime deterrent. National as well as community funded gun education
courses would increase gun awareness and safety. These programs could even be extended to public
schools. Many guns are involved in accidents that could easily have been prevented by a little care or
forethought. Also gun purchasers could be required to take lessons in gun safety, at the purchaser s
expense. Again, the NRA has long been a proponent of gun education. Gun control is severely
weakened by the few loopholes that exist in the system. These loopholes make it possible for minors
and felons to obtain outlawed and high powered weapons. They also serve to weaken the strength of
the Brady Bill and Gun registration. Adults are prohibited from transferring firearms to juveniles, but
are not required to store guns in securely locked cabinets. This allows kids to get access to them. This
Child Access Prevention (CAP) proposal would require parents to keep loaded firearms out of the
reach of children and would hold gun owners criminally responsible if a child gains access to an
unsecured firearm and uses it to injure himself or

Understanding Heart Failure
Understanding Heart Failure
Heart failure is a condition in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood through the
heart to meet the body s need for blood and oxygen. Coronary artery disease is a form of heart disease
that effects the chambers of the heart. There are four chambers in the heart. The upper chambers
consist of a right and a left atrium and the lower chamber consists of the right and left ventricles. The
flow of oxygen rich blood travels from the lungs to the left atrium and into the left ventricle where it is
pumped into the rest of the body. When the heart functions properly, all four chambers beat and pump
blood effectively in an organized way. The Virtual Medical Centre (Centre, 2008) newsletter states

Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination
Gender equality has been actively sought out for, chiefly by women, throughout history with a goal to
establish equal rights and opportunities among all genders. While extensive progress has been
achieved towards women s rights throughout the twentieth century, women continue to experience
gender discrimination on a daily basis. Even with the Equal Rights Amendment in the Constitution
which refrains from inequality of rights concerning sex, gender inequality continues to persist Gender
discrimination occurs to this day due to its origination from societal implications that males are
superior to females in multiple aspects (Bergman). Men genetically acquire a stronger physique than
women which implanted the notion that women are subordinate to men. Female inferiority is rooted
within society that it is still perceived as inherent or inexorable rather than its reality, as a politically
constructed system built and sustained by patriarchal interests and ideologies (Bergman). Women are
restricted from experiencing life equal to men due to the belief for both genders to acquire particular
desirable attributes and traits imposed by cultural expectations. Although gender equality has
progressed substantially through development in women s privileges, political activism in support of
equality for women should be held to top priority due to social and artistic movements held to rally
against gender biased situations.
While improvement towards the status of women in

Corruption In The Colbert Report
Plato, Marx, and Rousseau all speak on the corruption of society and how the world surrounding it
really is. One of the commonly seen themes throughout the texts is the idea of corruption. Corruption
centers around one in power gaining advancement, often through bribery, by fraudulent behavior,
either politically or socially. Socrates speak on tyrants as an example of this. A tyrant said to be
someone who, Lives lordly...and lawlessly, and being himself a king...a tyrant leads a State, to the
performance of any reckless deed. (Plato) These ideas of corruption are also seen throughout the
videos on The Colbert Report, by using the concept of Super PACs as an example. When looking at
the reading one can imagine the corruption of that time and it is easier for one to brush it off as
something in the past. The Colbert Report show the corruption of today when it comes to politics,
which in this case make this topic hit a lot closer to home for many of us. Plato, Marx, and Rousseau
have all spoke on ways that we are blinded by trying to understand a system of government that, due

What Made Up Theater During The Middle Ages
There is that smaller world which is the stage, and that larger stage which is the world, Isacc
Goldberg. These are important words, because theater is valued in our world today, and was especially
important during the Middle Ages. The church was the main source of order and security during this
time. Going to heaven was the only thing the people really lived for because they had nothing else.
Theater was one of the few things the people of this time could find entertainment in. Theater helped
the people escape from the unexciting and rough world they lived in, and allowed them to be placed in
an exciting new world. There were many different types of plays during the Middle Ages: traveling
performers, liturgical dramas, vernacular plays, cycle plays, and morality plays. All of these made up
theater during the Middle Ages, and helped it to grow and change into what it is today. The Middle

usually acted by churchmen ( Vernacular ). As the church s control over the plays decreased, cycle
plays came in. Cycle productions were made up of several short plays. Unlike liturgical drama, these
plays did not have to be religious. Depending on the type, cycle productions could be relatively short,
or they could take days to finish. Three hundred actors were not unusual for these plays (Robinson).
Just like with other parts of society during the Middle Ages, women were not in theater. All of these
plays were impacted or controlled by the church. The plays were always reviewed by the church, and
they could disapprove a production. The churches impact on theater declined the most in the 14th

Wild Bill Hickock was an Outlaw of the Old West
James Butler Hickock, also known as Wild Bill Hickock, was born in Homer, Illinois (now Troye
Grove, Illinois) on May 27, 1837. He was an outlaw of the American Old West. He was a skilled
gunfighter, gambler, and lawman, which are some of the many reasons why he is famous. Hickock
was born and raised on a farm in Illinois. He went west at the age of 18 in 1855 first working as a
stagecoach driver, then as a lawman in Kansas and Nebraska. While in Nebraska, Hickok was often
called Duck Bill . He grew a mustache and began referring to himself as Wild Bill . He fought and
spied for the Union Army during the American Civil War. wild bill.jpg On March 22, 1858, he was
elected as constable of Monticello Township, Kansas. A year later, he joined the Russell, Waddell,
Majors Freight Co, the company of the Pony Express. In 1860, he was seriously injured by a bear
while driving a freight team from Missouri to Texas. He found the road they were taking blocked by a
Cinnamon bear and its two cubs. He dismounted and approached the bear. He shot it in the head, but
the bullet ricocheted from its skull. The bear attacked, crushing him with its body. Hickock slashed its
throat with a knife. When the Civil War began in April 1861, Hickok signed up as a teamster for the
Union Army in Sedalia, Missouri. In September 1862, he was discharged for an unknown reason.

Fenella Character Analysis
Efie and Colina are half sisters. The girls were born to Fenella, a strikingly beautiful woman. Fenella
was married to Wallace, Laird of Inverness and the father of Efie. He fell ill one day and withered in a
week due to a mysterious disease. The Lair was soon succeeded by Derek, Wallace s younger brother.
Love blossomed between Fenella and Derek, something which did not come as a surprise to the
members of the clan. Soon their union bore Fenella another daughter whom she named Colina. But 3
years after Colina s birth, Derek was plagued with the same illness Wallace suffered from and passed
away.
Efie and Colina could pass up for twins although some differences are quite apparent. Efie was vibrant
and cheerful. Her hair flows down to her shoulders and shimmers like gold under the sun. Her brown
eyes speak of the naughty secrets she keeps but would not think twice about divulging them to anyone
who cares enough to know. Colina, on the other hand, was always quiet, unsure and shy. But what she
lacks for in self expression is more than made up for by her astounding beauty. Colina s hair was dark
red, almost mahogany and her eyes were gentle green. She was younger than Efie by 5 years, and as it
is with younger sisters, Colina tries extra hard to emulate Efie.
The sibling rivalry which now exists between the sisters was mainly due to how Fenella has treated
them. Anyone could see how Fenella favors Efie over Colina. Fenella feels that Efie has become more
and more like her

Anderson Quillan Syndrome Essay
Introduction
Anderson Quillan Syndrome (AMS) is a rare disease with a prevalence rate of 300/100,000 as
determined by a recent ecological study. There is speculation that AMS is a consequence of certain
exposures, namely increased tea or chocolate consumption and smoking. There is a possible genetic
link, but not all AMS patients exhibit this genetic risk. A case control study (CCS) is proposed in
which AMS cases are compared to two control groups. Control group C1 are living genetically related
family members of AMS patients and control group C2 is a more diverse cohort of non AMS subjects
without known family history of AMS. The primary goal is to determine whether there is an
association between the named exposures and AMS. The secondary goal is to determine whether the
presence of a known family history of AMS is a confounder.
Proposed Study Design
Evaluating the association of a rare disease (Anderson Quillan Syndrome) and its multiple exposures,
various study design could be utilised. Upon initial analysis, an experimental RCT would seem the
most accurate and effective in temporal causal determination, but there are ethical concerns as subjects
could be knowingly subjected to harmful exposures. Alternatively, cohort studies measure events in
temporal sequence by incidence rates, but with limitations. Limitations include subject selection and
loss to follow up biases, time (longer subjects follow up), increased resources required (larger
samples, costs) and

Difference Between The Golden Compass Movie Vs Movie
2) From The Golden Compass to The Golden Compass : A narratological study of novel and film
adaptation written by Anna Hagström in June 2011. This study show the similar, and the difference
between the novel, and the film. Anna stated that she will show what do in the novel, and in the film
have in common, and what their differences are because she thought that there must be reasons why
the film which is the adaptation of the novel is quite distinct from its original version (the novel). The
theory she used to analyze why both version are conveyed differently is the film adaptation theory
taken from narratology. There are three characters which Anna chose to compare between the novel,

a hero in the fantasy novel instead of inventing a male hero. Sigrid claimed that Lyra is one hundred
percent similar to other male heroes. It is argued that although Lyra is a girl, but she does not wait for
someone to help her like other female protagonists in other fantasy stories. Instead, she is carefully
constructed to be a string minded hero who goes to rescue her male friend in the north. She is not like
other girls who wait for someone who will come to help her friend, but she decided to do it herself
inspite of knowing that there are several dangerous tasks waiting for her ahead. On the other hand, the

What Is Equality In Susan B Anthony s Speech
From a young age, American students are able to comprehend the idea that our nation s success tends
to center around the equality of the people. History classes have taught us that the less discrimination
in this world, the easier a country can succeed. Although the nation continues to fight the war of
inequality between its citizens through endless protests and movements, the nation itself has promised
equality to all minorities no matter their color or gender. With new laws added to the Bill of Rights,
the United States have been able to resolve government issues regarding civil liberties such as
freedom of speech, voting regulations and female restrictions that have haunted us from our American
past.
Voting, in this day and age, is easily taken for granted by most. When Susan B. Anthony gave her
speech in 1873 in the hope of the country bettering their laws to comply with the female population,
she knew the nation s laws complied most with the white male citizens (Source E) of the country.
Knowing that mistreatment in society was something shared between minorities, Anthony called out
the group of people that were treated better than anyone. When speaking to her audience, Anthony
uses ethos in her speech in order to make her point clear that withholding women s civil liberties is
wrong. Being a woman in 1873, Anthony faced discrimination in her everyday life; for this reason, she
chose to focus on changing not only the country s social discrimination, but also it s

One of the most important fraud case in USA was The Enron case because of his criminal activity
which involved a big part of USA.

he left Continental to join Transco Energy Company in Houston, Texas. Three years later, Lay joined

Relationship Between Tom Buchanan And Myrtle Wilson
Fitzgerald developes Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson as unlikable, unjust and careless characters in
this passage in chapter two. Myrtle Wilson is married to George Wilson, while Tom Buchanan is
married to Daisy. The two have an affair and use the small apartment in New York to be together.
Cheating is unethical and is often frowned upon. This may be one of the reasons why Fitzgerald
decided to portray the two characters the way he did. Fitzgerald uses word choice, diction and detail to
develop the two characters. Myrtle Wilson, in the second paragraph, let four taxi cabs drive past
before she selected one. This diction used by the author develops Myrtle as a high maintenance
character. On the top of the second page, she asks if the dog was a boy or a girl very delicately.
FItzgerald used the word delicately to further develop Myrtle as a delicate and frail character. Myrtle s
physical appearance is described as, She had changed her dress to a brown figured muslin which
stretched tight over her rather wide hips as Tom helped her to the platform in New York, . Fitzgerald
dropped many hints that Myrtle was an immoral and unjust character, making her seem to the reader

Tree Seedling In Savanna
Dry tropical forests and savanna are most exploited and endangered ecosystem of the world (Murphy
and Lugo 1986). In recent years increasing proportion of tropical dry forest have been modified into
open secondary forest or savanna or completely destroyed through such activities as mining,
agriculture, herbivory, and fire (Champion and Seth 1968; Singh et al.1991). The clearance of the
vegetation generally increases the chances of soil erosion and invasions (e.g., wood plant
encroachment) which potentially leading to habitat degradation (Kelly and Walker 1976; Van
Aukenand Bush 1989; Skarpe 1990; Ward 2005; Balfour and Midgley 2008). Such enduring
anthropogenic pressure combined with the expected global climate change is a matter of concern. ...

Seedlings are very susceptible and important stage of plant life cycle (Grubb 1977). Because of this a
better understanding of how seedlings of individual species in a community perform under changed
environmental conditions relative to one another. It helps to explain the composition of plant
communities. In dry tropical environment, germination and growth occur within a limited period of
time. The environmental factor such as light , nutrients and moisture should be favorable during this
period (Khurana and Singh 2002). Most of the researches have been conducted various studies on tree
seedling growth of dry tropical species by focusing on spatiotemporal pattern of seedling recruitment
in response to disturbance events such as fire and herbivory (Bond et al. 2001), or on consequences of
seed characteristics for seedling demography and growth such as dispersal mechanisms (Barot et al.
1999;Goheen et al. 2004) and seed size (Khurana and Singh 2000). Seedlings establishment represents
the most serious bottleneck to successful tree recruitment in tropical grasslands and savannas (Prins

al. 2009; van Langevelde et al. 2011). Over the last few years there has also been increasing
conformity that disturbances (e.g., fire, herbivory, drought) substantially contribute to the stability and
dynamics of dry tropical forest largely through their influence on the demographics of seedlings and
juvenile trees (Bond et al. 2005; Wiegand et

Business Class C Should Not Continue
5.
a) Business class C should not continue to be underwritten using the figures shown. This is because
the class has resulted in a £25 million loss for the underwriting company.
Total premium expenditure LOSS
£125,000,000 £150,000,000 = £25,000,000 (shown in brackets on the account sheet as it s a loss)
b)
To make an in depth analysis as to whether class C of business should continue to be written might
require a look at the class over a number of years. The figures shown could be or a year that is
unrepresentative in a wider time spread, as other years before this could show the class C to be a
profitable class to write. Furthermore the value of losses and frequency of losses would show whether
it was one very infrequent event that has cause a large loss that has led to the line not being profitable
in the figures shown. However, if it was lots of smaller claims, this might show class C business could
be written profitably, if the premium was representative of the risk insurer JEL is exposing itself to.
There is simply not enough information available to show the circumstances that have led to an
overall loss of £25 million for class C business. Moreover, class C may be offered at a reduced
premium rate if an insured purchases class A or B. this therefore may not be a profitable line to write
on its own, but if it brings the profitable business in as clients place multiple insurance policies with
the same insurer, and it s a sales method, class C

sweeping generalization with her statement; one that I find to be incredibly disrespectful and a sign of
her personal negative sentiment (racism) toward Mexican Americans. Also, earlier in Jane Hill s little

Examples Of Race And Racism
Where is Race and Racism? Quite notably suitable for the first chapter analyzed by Dr. Merle A.
Jacobs. As an intro to the book, Race In Equity, Intersectionality, Social Determinants of Health and
Equity, this question is subsequently brought up, however, no one knows it s true origins. This course
Health and Equity, directed by Dr. Merle A. Jacobs gives a clear direction on how it possibly came to
be, and it is this: racism is socially constructed . It is a belief conjured up in today s society and has
been embedded throughout the origins of Canada. In this essay I seek to outline the underlining
problems of Canada and how race is socially constructed. It will seek to break down the major
minorities examined in this text, most notably the Indigenous People of Canada, Japanese Canadians
and the African Americans. It aims to highlight that the problems stem from the social determinants of
health: the physical environment, child development, and income and status. The essay will prove that
integration and segregation are the same word in a Canadian alienated world. Whereby, people are
taught to be Canadians by being separated by its norms and practices, it s culture and henceforth, the
people different will lose their cultural identity and will be forced into sharing the same beliefs as their
white counterparts. This essay will provide aids on how, and whereby, policies and laws need to be
rectified, in order to have a concrete solution and not a temporarily relief for problems manifesting in
today s society. Canada is well known to be rich in resources yet fails to equally distribute them. In
Canada it is well known to have one of the biggest bodies of fresh clean drinking water and fertile
land, rich in oil and gas, copper, and nickel, but why is it that so few have so little? According to the
Globe and Mail s research; [...] [they] found that one third of First Nations had systems that were at
medium or high risk of producing unsafe water, according to INAC s assessment criteria. (Feb 21,
2017) (Jacobs Ouedraogo, 2017, p. 39). Aboriginals or the Indigenous people of Canada are one of the
few minorities that were a testament to the unruly predecessor of Canadian Culture. Dating back to

The Age Of Reason Thomas Paine Summary
Throughout The Age of Reason, Thomas Paine gives several examples for why he is opposed to
Christianity. Before I began reading this essay, I was absolutely positive that I was going to disagree
with every point that Paine had to make and every opinion that he expressed. It did not take long for
me to realize that I had made the wrong assumption. There was more than one occasion while reading
The Age of Reason that I discovered I actually agreed with Paine s opinion/belief. This encouraged me
to read The Age of Reason once again, but this time with an open mind. I decided that I would also
take notes on the similarities and differences between Paine s worldview and mine. I came across my
first disagreeance with Paine a few sentences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The morality that he preached and practiced was of the most benevolent kind. . . (Timmerman and
Hettinga). I was very surprised that Paine had written these words. I was let down again when I read
that Paine did not believe in the way that Jesus was placed into Mary s womb by God or how he
resurrected three days after his death and then ascended into heaven. Paine s reason for not believing
these facts about Jesus is simply because evidence never was given. Paine relays the message to me
that he will not believe anything unless there is evidence to support the fact or opinion. Paine relies on
evidence. This is one of the many ways that Paine s worldview is different from mine. I rely on faith. I
have faith that Jesus was placed into Mary s womb by God and that He rose from the grave three days
after his death. The next time I find myself agreeing with what Paine believes is when he states,
Human language is local and changeable, and is therefore incapable of being used as means of
unchangeable and universal information (Timmerman and Hettinga 100). I agree that the human
language is not solid and that it cannot be trusted; however, I once again find something wrong with
Paine s worldview. Paine did not believe that Jesus had any kind of supernatural abilities. He believed
that Jesus was just like any other human being. He therefore comes to the conclusion that Jesus

The Threats Of Huawei
Threats of new entrants (Low threat) Telecom industry is capital intensive and biggest barrier to the
new entry is access to finance. A possible new entrant needs to cover high fixed costs and typically

When financing opportunities are less readily available, the pace of entry slows. Meanwhile, the

Turbulent Flow Trial in Pipe Flow Experiment
For experiment 100 (pipe flow) there were some operational errors that took place during the lab
period. There was one accident that involved the safety officer and the cross trainer that was there for
the first lab period. Both the cross trainer and the safety officer were near the viscometer as they were
both operating it. When the cross trainer finished utilizing the suction bulb, he was instructed by the
team leader to begin recoding the density measurements. The cross trainer reached into the water bath
picking up a volumetric flask by its cap, this caused the flask to slip from its cap and fall to the table.
While this was happening, the safety officer was crouched near the cross trainer with a stopwatch
trying to record the liquids efflux time. As the flask was falling the safety officer reached out to catch
it and accidently cut his hand when the flask hit the table. Review attached accident report in the
appendix for further detail of the accident.
During the first lab period, after the accident was cleaned up, we were able to obtain four density and
viscosity measurements for both water and propylene glycol at different temperatures. For the pipe
flow experiments, we were able to complete eight trials for turbulent flow experiment, twenty trials
for the pump performance experiment, and five trials for the laminar experiment. These trial numbers
were short of our goal of finishing all of the trials for both turbulent laminar for that day because of

  • 3. Good Crop Painting Analysis The painting Good Crop was done by Clarence Holbrook Carter in 1942. He used an oil based medium on a canvas that was forty eight inches by twenty eight inches. This painting is from the era of war and rationed goods. The idea for this painting originated from his neighbor Jim Jennings, a farmer from down the road. He made the painting from just one basket of potatoes. Most of Carters painting were based off of memories from his childhood. While looking at Good Crop, your eyes are drawn to the first bucket of potatoes sitting on a wagon. He uses both organic and geometric shapes. The organic shapes can be seen in the potatoes, bushes and horses. We see the geometric shapes when we analyze the circular buckets that have rectangular handles. The potatoes are unified together by the buckets, in which they are placed. From there we will notice that the painting is asymmetrically balanced. Carter placed the farmer, the buckets of potatoes, wagon and white horse on the left side. On the right is the dark brown horse and meadow. To balance the painting out carter used an implied line, by having the farmer look off to his right. This is an implied line because our eyes want to draw a connecting the drivers eyes to the far right of the painting. This implied line adds weight to the right side. Using this implied line we can also note that Carter used directional forces in this painting. Carter had the farmer look off to his right, which pulls our eyes to the right. Therefore, creating directional forces. He also uses one point linear perspective. For this research paper my goal is to explain and illustrate why certain populations tend to have higher infection rates of tuberculosis than the average population in the United States and what causes these higher rates. At what point do health officials step in and work on prevention in these specific populations and why are we not implementing the tuberculosis shot for these populations? Tuberculosis was first discovered as a disease in 1882 by a scientist named Robert Koch (Rothman, 1994). Within a short period of time it was discovered that this was an infectious disease, along with being a disease that affected certain populations (Rothman, 1994). It was discovered that a vast majority of the individuals affected were either immigrant, therefore generally a minority population, or were of poor or working class status (Rothman, 1994). Several movements and directives were used during this time to attempt to stop the spread of tuberculosis, such as, being outside in the clean air as much as possible, not drinking alcohol, and drinking plenty of clean water, among others (Rothman, 1994). Eliot portrays a disconnect from humanity and a disillusionment with typical beliefs as a source of human despair in The Hollow Men. The hollow men that the work is centered around are depicted devoid of any human qualities that might provide them a relief from despair, such as hope or faith. As is written in T. S. Eliot s Indigenous Critical Concepts and The Hollow Men by Muhammad Khan Sangi and others, In this poem the human beings have been shown devoid of the qualities of faith, moral strength, of personality, determination and that of humanity; they are like empty bodies, lacking all human virtues (Sangi et al para 4). No matter how these qualities were lost to the individuals, the result is constant and predictable: the individuals feel an inescapable despair. When one has nothing to anticipate in life, no expectations or hopes, then life loses its meaning. This is the world that the hollow men live in perpetually. The entire work, as Sangi describes, is a cry of despair unrelieved by hope. The peculiarity of the poem is that it is an inner drama with the utmost economy of words. The images echo the deadness of sensibility and the emptiness of hollow men who, like the effigies, are fit only for burning (Sangi et al para 5). Again, the hollow men are depicted as worthless, insofar as they are compared to effigies, the only purpose of which is to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

National as well as community funded gun education courses would increase gun awareness and safety. These programs could even be extended to public schools. Many guns are involved in accidents that could easily have been prevented by a little care or forethought. Also gun purchasers could be required to take lessons in gun safety, at the purchaser s expense. Again, the NRA has long been a proponent of gun education. While extensive progress has been achieved towards women s rights throughout the twentieth century, women continue to experience gender discrimination on a daily basis. Even with the Equal Rights Amendment in the Constitution which refrains from inequality of rights concerning sex, gender inequality continues to persist Gender discrimination occurs to this day due to its origination from societal implications that males are superior to females in multiple aspects (Bergman). Men genetically acquire a stronger physique than women which implanted the notion that women are subordinate to men. Female inferiority is rooted within society that it is still perceived as inherent or inexorable rather than its reality, as a politically constructed system built and sustained by patriarchal interests and ideologies (Bergman). Women are restricted from experiencing life equal to men due to the belief for both genders to acquire particular desirable attributes and traits imposed by cultural expectations. • 24. Anderson Quillan Syndrome Essay Introduction Anderson Quillan Syndrome (AMS) is a rare disease with a prevalence rate of 300/100,000 as determined by a recent ecological study. There is speculation that AMS is a consequence of certain exposures, namely increased tea or chocolate consumption and smoking. There is a possible genetic link, but not all AMS patients exhibit this genetic risk. A case control study (CCS) is proposed in which AMS cases are compared to two control groups. Control group C1 are living genetically related family members of AMS patients and control group C2 is a more diverse cohort of non AMS subjects without known family history of AMS. The primary goal is to determine whether there is an association between the named exposures and AMS. The secondary goal is to determine whether the presence of a known family history of AMS is a confounder. Proposed Study Design Evaluating the association of a rare disease (Anderson Quillan Syndrome) and its multiple exposures, various study design could be utilised. Upon initial analysis, an experimental RCT would seem the most accurate and effective in temporal causal determination, but there are ethical concerns as subjects could be knowingly subjected to harmful exposures. Alternatively, cohort studies measure events in temporal sequence by incidence rates, but with limitations. Limitations include subject selection and loss to follow up biases, time (longer subjects follow up), increased resources required (larger samples, costs) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. What Is Equality In Susan B Anthony s Speech From a young age, American students are able to comprehend the idea that our nation s success tends to center around the equality of the people. History classes have taught us that the less discrimination in this world, the easier a country can succeed. Although the nation continues to fight the war of inequality between its citizens through endless protests and movements, the nation itself has promised equality to all minorities no matter their color or gender. With new laws added to the Bill of Rights, the United States have been able to resolve government issues regarding civil liberties such as freedom of speech, voting regulations and female restrictions that have haunted us from our American past. Voting, in this day and age, is easily taken for granted by most. When Susan B. Anthony gave her speech in 1873 in the hope of the country bettering their laws to comply with the female population, she knew the nation s laws complied most with the white male citizens (Source E) of the country. Knowing that mistreatment in society was something shared between minorities, Anthony called out the group of people that were treated better than anyone. When speaking to her audience, Anthony uses ethos in her speech in order to make her point clear that withholding women s civil liberties is wrong. Being a woman in 1873, Anthony faced discrimination in her everyday life; for this reason, she chose to focus on changing not only the country s social discrimination, but also it s ... • 28. Relationship Between Tom Buchanan And Myrtle Wilson Fitzgerald developes Tom Buchanan and Myrtle Wilson as unlikable, unjust and careless characters in this passage in chapter two. Myrtle Wilson is married to George Wilson, while Tom Buchanan is married to Daisy. The two have an affair and use the small apartment in New York to be together. Cheating is unethical and is often frowned upon. This may be one of the reasons why Fitzgerald decided to portray the two characters the way he did. Fitzgerald uses word choice, diction and detail to develop the two characters. Myrtle Wilson, in the second paragraph, let four taxi cabs drive past before she selected one. This diction used by the author develops Myrtle as a high maintenance character. On the top of the second page, she asks if the dog was a boy or a girl very delicately. FItzgerald used the word delicately to further develop Myrtle as a delicate and frail character. In recent years increasing proportion of tropical dry forest have been modified into open secondary forest or savanna or completely destroyed through such activities as mining, agriculture, herbivory, and fire (Champion and Seth 1968; Singh et al.1991). The clearance of the vegetation generally increases the chances of soil erosion and invasions (e.g., wood plant encroachment) which potentially leading to habitat degradation (Kelly and Walker 1976; Van Aukenand Bush 1989; Skarpe 1990; Ward 2005; Balfour and Midgley 2008). Seedlings are very susceptible and important stage of plant life cycle (Grubb 1977). Because of this a better understanding of how seedlings of individual species in a community perform under changed environmental conditions relative to one another. It helps to explain the composition of plant communities. In dry tropical environment, germination and growth occur within a limited period of time. The environmental factor such as light , nutrients and moisture should be favorable during this period (Khurana and Singh 2002). Most of the researches have been conducted various studies on tree seedling growth of dry tropical species by focusing on spatiotemporal pattern of seedling recruitment in response to disturbance events such as fire and herbivory (Bond et al. 2001), or on consequences of seed characteristics for seedling demography and growth such as dispersal mechanisms (Barot et al. 1999;Goheen et al. 2004) and seed size (Khurana and Singh 2000). As an intro to the book, Race In Equity, Intersectionality, Social Determinants of Health and Equity, this question is subsequently brought up, however, no one knows it s true origins. This course Health and Equity, directed by Dr. Merle A. Jacobs gives a clear direction on how it possibly came to be, and it is this: racism is socially constructed . It is a belief conjured up in today s society and has been embedded throughout the origins of Canada. In this essay I seek to outline the underlining problems of Canada and how race is socially constructed. It will seek to break down the major minorities examined in this text, most notably the Indigenous People of Canada, Japanese Canadians and the African Americans. It aims to highlight that the problems stem from the social determinants of health: the physical environment, child development, and income and status. The essay will prove that integration and segregation are the same word in a Canadian alienated world. Whereby, people are taught to be Canadians by being separated by its norms and practices, it s culture and henceforth, the people different will lose their cultural identity and will be forced into sharing the same beliefs as their white counterparts. This essay will provide aids on how, and whereby, policies and laws need to be rectified, in order to have a concrete solution and not a temporarily relief for problems manifesting in today s society. Canada is well known to be rich in resources yet fails to equally distribute them. Paine s reason for not believing these facts about Jesus is simply because evidence never was given. Paine relays the message to me that he will not believe anything unless there is evidence to support the fact or opinion. Paine relies on evidence. This is one of the many ways that Paine s worldview is different from mine. I rely on faith. I agree that the human language is not solid and that it cannot be trusted; however, I once again find something wrong with Paine s worldview.
