A Study On Conventional Imaging
Conventional Imaging Upon presenting symptoms of abdominal pain or back pain, a common
symptom of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, an abdominal x ray or lumbar x ray to may be performed.
This exam would be performed as a preliminary image to rule out what is causing the pain; but it is
not a preferred modality for diagnostic purposes. The radiographic appearance of the pancreas may
show calcifications, which can be a symptom of chronic pancreatitis but not necessarily
adenocarcinoma (T. Williams, personal communication, October 14, 2015).
Transabdominal Ultrasound
Initially when a patient presents with jaundice or abdominal pain, an ultrasound is frequently
considered the first line diagnostic tool. The ultrasound provides a non ionizing imaging of the
pancreas and can typically show if dilation of the pancreatic duct and/or dilation of the common bile
duct is present, also known as the double duct sign (E. Lee J. Lee, 2014). The two most common
causes of a radiographic appearance of the double duct sign is carcinoma of the head of the pancreas
and carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater (Goel, 2015). The ability to visualize this sign provides answers
as to why the jaundice and abdominal pain is present and calls for further investigation to potentially
diagnose the patient with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (E. Lee J. Lee, 2014). US may also show a
hypoechoic mass with irregular margins that can be typically appreciated as pancreatic
adenocarcinoma (E. Lee J. Lee, 2014; Pietryga

Effects Of The Holocaust
Effects of the Holocaust
The Holocaust, as you may already know, Was created by hitler as a way to raise hope in his soldiers,
even though most nazi soldiers didnt even know about the concentration camps and some thought they
were wrong. The holocaust was a span of quite some time from January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945.
After liberation many Jewish survivors feared to return to their former homes because of the
antisemitism (hatred of Jews) that persisted in parts of Europe and the trauma they had suffered. Some
who returned home feared for their lives. In postwar Poland, for example, there were a number of
pogroms (violent anti Jewish riots). The largest of these occurred in the town of Kielce in 1946 when
Polish rioters killed at least 42 Jews and beat many others. From www.ushmm.org. For any and all
survivors, the prospect of rebuilding their lives from before the concentration camps was daunting. the
world from individual nations to the United Nations; from religious leaders to professionals in fields
as diverse as law, medicine, and science; from presidents and prime ministers to private citizens

Affordable Care Act, By President Obama
The Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010, fails to reach the
intended goal of being more affordable for those in the population who cannot afford health insurance.
The Affordable Care Act affects taxes, the out of pocket spending as well as the national debt. Now,
considering the word affordable is in the name of the act itself, it is very contradicting that the
Affordable Care Act is not very affordable . Affordable has a very different meaning if you were to ask
people across the nation. People in Montana for example, the average salary in the state of Montana is
$37,575, while in the state of New York, the average salary is $52,330. People in Montana would see
$25,000 a lot differently than people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, by forcing everyone to have health insurance, you put an extra burden on employers. Employers
not only now have to pay the employees, but they have to provide health insurance. If health insurance
is not provided, employers are forced to pay a fine. It should be the individual person s responsibility
to pay for themselves to be covered, not the employer s responsibility.
The individual mandate is the base of the Affordable Care Act which requires all Americans to obtain
health insurance. The fine for not having health insurance would be taken out of your income tax for
every month health insurance is not obtained. Sadly, there is only a small window for signing up for
this health insurance. There is a certain open enrollment period in which people must sign up by, or
they would have to wait until the next period. This means, if a person were to miss the enrollment
period, they would have to suffer the fine for the next consecutive months until the next enrollment
period. Since 2014, the fee has risen each year. Therefore, Americans who struggle enough to live and
couldn t afford the affordable health care would suffer greatly due to the increased fines. An article
published by a mix of doctors from across the country shows how these fines are imposed. There are
financial penalties in the form of a new tax on individuals who fail to buy health

Comparison Between My Last Duchess Ulysses Regarding...
Question : What is a dramatic monologue? Which of the two, in your opinion, is the stronger dramatic
monologue in Tennyson s Ulysses or Browning s My Last Duchess ?
Answer : Traditionally dramatic monologue is a lyrical poem in the form of speech spoken by a single
man. It is dramatic because it begins abruptly and in the development of its thought it takes several
sudden turns which impart dramatic dimension to the poem. In a dramatic monologue the single
speaker reveals his thoughts in the presence of a single silent listener or some silent listeners. The
speaker is not necessarily the poet himself though the speaker often gives out the poet s belief and
philosophy. The speaker s revelation, in fact, leads the readers to probe ... Show more content on

He tells them, you and I are old. These are the clues which lead us to believe that other mariners are
present but they do not speak. Telemachus presence is also felt. Tennyson here follows the tradition of
allowing one person to speak and keeping others silent. In My Last Duchess we see the same thing. As
the poem progresses, it becomes clear that only a single person speaks. The speaker is the Duke of
Ferrara who is talking about his dead Duchess portrait painted by Fra Pandolf. At several points of the
poem it becomes evident that there is a listener who remains silent. For example, when the duke says
Will t please you sit and look at her? or Will t you please rise? we understand that someone is present
around him. Later in the poem, we come to know that he is an emissary for the second marriage of the
Duke. Throughout the poem he does not talk. But his reactions are revealed through the Duke s
speech. For example, the clue to understand the surprise in the emissary s face has been revealed by
the Duke himself : so not the first/ Are you to turn and ask thus. We know he does not ask anything
but there has been a question in his countenance. Tennyson reveals his heart s desire in Ulysses . This
is another aspect of dramatic monologue. He says he does not enjoy peaceful life at home, and so, he
wants to set out for new adventures. His inner thoughts have been revealed. However, the revelation is
very simple and plain. The speaker here is

According To Rachels Why Do We Survive Death
Merina Bista
Philosophy 1301

Do we survive death?
Recall: In the Do we survive Death? the most important questions that Rachels has tried to make are
several points 1) is our soul immortal? 2) Argument on if we can really have another life after death?
3) If we believe in another life, reincarnation and psychics who claim to communicate with dead then
why do they do they have to do different tricks, or lie that the evidence has occurred? 4) If we have
life then why do scientist don t believe in it? 5) Should we believe in miracles?
Summary: In this chapter Rachel has argued on the title do we survive death? The chapter talks about
how Socrates believes in life after death. According to Rachels, Socrates argues that soul can never be
destroyed. Soul cannot be burned or it cannot be ripped apart, overall Socrates believes that soul is
immortal. However the scientist have not proved it correct and they don t believe in the existence of
soul theory. Modern science talks about the mind, emotion, genetics, environment but they do not talk
about the soul. But still the question arise that does the body after death still exists in many ... Show

Women s Female Leadership During The Renaissance
The concept of the salon, originating in Italy during the Renaissance, was introduced to France in the
seventeenth century and evolved into a three hundred year old tradition built exclusively on the
strength of feminocentric rule. One of the most fascinating things about the institution of the salon is
that its female leadership flourished during a period of history when women were not permitted to be
involved in activities outside the boundaries of domesticity. According to Wolf, this paradoxical
climate began to emerge during the Renaissance when the Salic law came into effect in fourteenth
century. This Law denied women the right to inherit the family name, fortune or property. She was
also denied the right to receive a public education. Women learned the only way to gain social status
was through marriage, conducting cultural and social functions of the court in their husband s name.
Young girls were raised to believe their primary role was to develop the attributes that would secure
marrying into the right family. The ability to sing, dance, play multiple instruments was a mark of
distinction. Music education especially for women was extremely important to those among the upper
class. Some scholars believe men imposed the study of music on women...to prevent them from
acquiring the kinds of knowledge, hence power, that men possessed. The time devoted to the study of
music developed exceptionally talented women but they were only allowed to play in

The angle of incline of the propeller was an essential factor. The rudder size was also an influential
and key factor to this operation. Two rudders were made for the project, made of wood and coated in
nail polish as to prevent waterlogging. These rudders would then be attached to the ends of the boats
the objective being greater stability. There was a clear indicator of the best type of rudder since the
first test. The larger rudder by far allowed the boat to travel the fastest. As indicated on the chart
below (see figure 6), the larger rudder was quicker, on average, by .58 seconds. One reason as to why
may have been the fact the smaller rudder may have been crafted too small to make a difference. The
rudder was an important factor in the boats speeds. The testing procedures may have also been a factor
in the results collected. For testing one would release the boat while the other person would time how
long it took to reach the end. With every test that was conducted, the boat material would become
increasingly waterlogged, corrupting our data. The boats would not float in a straight line, thanks to
the time constraints one would have to nudge it in the correct direction to get accurate results. Overall,
the testing may have been flawed and possibly inaccurate. When deciding what the boat shape

AbstractIn 2008 the world was fell into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of 1929
1933. Although this crisis has gone, however, its consequences for the economy of many countries is
very serious, even now many nations are still struggling to escape difficulty. Just in a short period, the

Prior to formally entering the financial crisis, a range of signs forecasting this event had happened
around the world. Problems with short term debt funding and mortgaged assets were not limited to the
United States, which is also the underlying cause of the financial crisis (Stoeckel, 2009). In 2001, the
U.S economy fell into recession after the dotcom crisis and the terrorist event on September 11. To
encourage the consumption, the central bank had lowered interest rates. The result was that with
interest rates so low, investment and consumption became too easy, the U.S financial markets rapidly
back and created real estate bubble . Started from the housing market, the crisis quickly spread to the
entire U.S financial system bank. In 2007, the 4th biggest bank in the U.S, name Lehman Brothers
was under pressure. Lehman tried many different ways to save itself such as raise capital, sign a deal
with Morgan Stanley and Bank of America, merger with Barclays but none of it worked ( Financial
Crisis 2007/2008 Overview, 2011). From here, everything was ready for the crisis explosion in
September 2008.

There are so many reasons lead to global financial crisis in 2008. In this case, I want to mention to
seven main causes which directly promoted financial collapse. 2.1 The housing bubble

The Role Of Abiotic And Biotic Stresses On The Environment
II. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Agriculture is one of the major sector becoming vulnerable to climate
change. Increased incidences of abiotic and biotic stresses are likely to cause serious negative impact
on crop production. Abiotic stress is defined as the negative impact of non living factors on the living
organisms in a specific environment. The non living variable must influence the environment beyond
its normal range of variation to adversely affect the performance or individual organism in a
significant way. This leads to decrease in the productivity by more than 50% in major crop plants
which are growing word wide (Bray et al., 2000). Increased water stress, reduction in rainfall and
increased air temperature are the major reasons for yield decline in wheat and paddy crops in many
parts of South Asia. The average increase in temperature per decade is measured to be 0.28 ºC over
land and 0.12 ºC over ocean and predicted that it is likely to rise further to a maximum of 2.5 ºC by
2050 and 5.8 ºC by 2100 (Jones et al., 1999; Grover et al., 2011). The principal abiotic stresses in
India are drought or soil moisture stress, high temperatures, soil salinity/alkalinity, low pH and metal
toxicity stresses that affect nearly two thirds area forming parts of the arid and semi arid eco systems
(Grover et al., 2011). Development of low cost, easily adaptable methods for the abiotic stress
management is a big challenge. Extensive research is being carried out across the globe, to

Essay on ANS Nervous System
The Structure amp; function of the
Autonomic Nervous System
Introduction:
The organs of our body are controlled by many systems in order to function correctly and efficiently
in order to survive within the environment we live in. These include the heart, stomach and intestines
and other vital organs and body systems. All of the systems in our body are regulated by a part of the
nervous system called the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is part of the peripheral
nervous system and it controls many organs and muscles within the body. Rather bizarrely we are
unable to determine or feel its presence in our bodies as it is working involuntary, as a reflexive
manner. A common example of this involuntary action is best understood when ... Show more content

Take notice of figure.1 in the illustrated diagram that the sympathetic nervous system originates in the
spinal cord. Specifically, the cell bodies of the first neuron are located in the thoracic and lumbar
spinal cord. Axons from these neurons project to a chain of ganglia located near the spinal cord. In
most cases, this neuron makes a synapse with another postganglionic neuron in the ganglion. A few
preganglionic neurons go to other ganglia outside of the sympathetic chain and synapse there. The
postganglionic neuron then projects to the quot;target quot; either a muscle or a gland.
Two more facts about the sympathetic nervous system are the synapse in the sympathetic ganglion,
uses acetylcholine as a neurotransmitter. The synapse of the postganglionic neuron with the target
organ uses the neurotransmitter called norepinephrine. There is one exception to this, the sympathetic
postganglionic neuron that terminates on the sweat glands uses acetylcholine.
The Parasympathetic nervous system is an antagonist to the sympathetic nervous system. Its primary
function is to give you the ability to rest and relax, in times when you are tired or stressed. The
parasympathetic nervous system works to save energy and allow your blood pressure to also decrease.
Your heartbeat reduces becoming much slower, and digestion can start. Notice again in figure

PowerPoint Yossarian was cold, too, and shivering uncontrollably. He felt goose pimples clacking all
over him as he gazed down despondently at the grim secret Snowden had spilled all over the messy
floor. It was easy to read the message in his entrails. Man was matter, that was Snowden s secret. Drop
him out a window and he ll fall. Set fire to him and he ll burn. Bury him and he ll rot, like other kinds
of garbage. That was Snowden s secret. Ripeness was all. Significance: This quote is significant to
Catch 22 because this questions life and god. This quote is when Snowden is dying and all of his
entrails spill out of his stomach onto the floor. Yossarian begins to realize that man is just matter
without life and spirit. Yossarian begins to see his own death in the mess of Snowdens entrails on the
floor. This is when Yossarian begins to question his life and if this is what he should be doing. People
knew a lot more about dying inside the hospital and made a much neater, more orderly job of it. They
couldn t dominate death, . . . but they certainly made her behave. They had taught her some manners.
They couldn t keep death out, but while she was in she had to act like a

Stigma Of Popular Music
When people think of popular music they think of party beats created for pure entertainment and
nothing more. People do not see this genre of music as capable of anything else. The stigma of
popular music only being a form of amusement for the mass consumer is challenged when artists use
music to attract attention to social issues. This paper intends to show how music like Raï challenge the
thought that popular music is only for entertainment. In order to understand how Raï challenges the
common perception of popular music, the question what exactly is Raï is must be answered. Raï,
which means opinion, was originally founded in women s urban sons in the Algerian city and has
historically voiced concerns often ignored by society (Jankowsky,

The Rosenbergs Essay
The history of the United States is full of unsolved mysteries. One of the greatest mysteries which
occurred in 1953 was the electrocution of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg under the Espionage Act. They
were convicted for giving the secret information about the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. The anti
communist sentiment that characterized the Cold War and McCarthyism led to their trial and
execution. Even though there is some evidence of the Rosenbergs guilt, numerous facts which were
discovered after the death of Ethel and Julius argue more convincingly that they were innocent victims
of Cold War hysteria. the United States almost as soon as Nazi Germany was defeated in 1945. quot;

were selling the secrets of nuclear weapons to the Soviet Union. They arrested many people including
Klaus Fuchs who was a member of the Manhattan Project and who was selling information about the
atomic bomb to Moscow. McCarthy and Hoover quot;began a massive witch hunt, quot; which led to
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. (Moss,220 222)
On July 17, 1950 Julius Rosenberg was arrested for spying and giving secrets about the atomic bomb
to Russia. On August 11,1950 his wife Ethel Rosenberg was arrested on the charge of aiding her
husband in spy activities.(Moss, 225) On Friday, June 19, 1953 Ethel and Julius were electrocuted in
New York State s Sing Sing Prison. Their sons, Michael who was ten and Robert who was six were
sent to foster homes and later were adopted by Anne and Abel Meeropol in 1957.(Moss, 224) How did
the FBI find out that the Rosenbergs were spying and how did the investigation begin?
The investigation began when the FBI found a name, Klaus Fuchs, written in a notebook of a Russian
spy. Dr. Fuchs had worked on Manhattan Project (the secret name for the project which worked on the
development of the atomic bomb) from 1943 to 1946. When Dr. Fuchs was arrested, he confessed that
he was giving the information about the bomb to the Soviet Union. However, Fuchs was not the only
one. Harry Gold who was a Philadelphia biochemist said that he was told by his Soviet contact
Yakovlev to meet Fuchs in Santa Fe New Mexico on June 2, 1945, where Fuchs would give him

Angola
Angola is located in south western Africa. Bordered by Zamibia, Nambia, The Democratic Republic
of the Congo and the Atlantic Ocean, it is Africa s seventh largest country with a total area of
1,246,700km2. Angola has a rich history full of hardships and grandeur. Its largest and most important
city is the capital, Luanda. Angola contains a rich culture made up of diverse urban and tribal peoples.
It is a unitary presidential republic and has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The
Portuguese reached Angola in 1484, but the region had previously been occupied by the Bantu
peoples, who set up many kingdoms and trade routes, such as the Kingdom of Kongo. They arrived
around 500 AD and traded with other, West African civilizations. ... Show more content on

This creates a rich cultural aspect of Angola. The tribes that reside in Angola consist of the Khoisan,
Ovimbundu, Mbundu, Bakongo, Lunda Chokwe, and the Nganguela. The people of the Khoisan tribe
(often called bushmen) are believed to be the oldest inhabitants in all of humanity. They communicate
through a series of clicking noses, which is believed to be the oldest current language in the world.
This group is currently at risk for extinction, but about 5,000 of them live in southern Angola. While
they used to be hunter gatherers, they have recently been forced to alter their lifestyle to become
herdsmen and farmers. There is a cave located near Virei, Angola that contains cave paintings dating

Nell s Twin Talk
In the movie Nell lost her twin sister as at a young age, as expected when a person loses someone they
care about they experience the process of grieving. It was portrayed that they were very close, would
play on the rocks together, and even had their own language that they talked to one other in. The
grieving was ever so apparent when she would stand on the rocks and go in circles envisioning her
twin sister was with her even though she was not. As we got to know Nell her words started making
more since. The basic properties of our language are Phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics.

they could change her view by using Dr. Lovell to get rid of her fear. They showed her that all men
were not evildoers. This proved that she was open to change her beliefs if she was shown how it
would cause no harm. In this particular movie, nurture plays a bigger role than nature. All that
characteristics that made Nell herself were taught by her mother. She was taught that she shouldn t go
out during the day, that men were evildoers, she learned her how to talk from her mom, and also how
to take care of herself living in the woods. All of these helped form her into the person that she was
when the doctors found her. Also, in this film I believe that a mix of both performance and mastery
goals were displayed. Performance goals are defined as the goal to demonstrate abilities to others. (

The Role Of Power For Private Gain As Defined By The...
Background: Corruption is the use of entrusted power for private gain as defined by the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP 2008). This research studies the effects and consequences
of corruption in the Nigeria health care system. Like other sectors in Nigeria, the health sector is not
immune from corruption and this is because of the high demand for health care services which has
enormously created opportunity for individuals in health care delivery to manipulate the system to
their own advantages at the expense of the general public or consumers. The gap that this has created
has made it difficult for targets and health care priorities to be met due to the administrative distance
between governance and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Health care delivery corruption in Nigeria prevails because there is no compliance to the rule of law,
the administrative system in Nigeria lacks transparency and trust, also the public sector which could
have acted as a check and balance is ruled by ineffective civil service codes and weak accountability
methods (Husmann, K. 2011).
Causes/Manifestations: Nigeria health system information is asymmetrical in nature and is susceptible
to corruption because large numbers of care givers see this as an opportunity to create systemic
hindrances and therefore discourage transparency and accountability. It was even argued that
consumers not only suffer the consequences of the infected system but also help to encourage the
corrupt system, it was reported that some patients believed that one cannot obtain high quality health
care unless one is socially or relatively connected to a health care worker, if not, one has to pay a bribe
as an incentive to receive health care from caregivers that are trained and paid for the job. This has
created a social norm in which bribing is deemed to be legitimate (Adegboyega et al 2012).
Another cause of this social norm is uncertainty regarding real projection of who will fall ill and to
allocate geographically types of illness associated to a region. This makes it difficult to allocate
resources adequately to

The Effects Of Prolonged Deprivation On Learned Helplessness
Here we discuss research of Indian writers SURAJ MAL, UDAY JAIN and K. S. YADAV, which is
called Effects of Prolonged Deprivation on Learned Helplessness . This study article consists of 8
pages.
This is a correlational study and it has quantitative character. The article consists of next sections:
Abstract, Introduction, Method (this part also consists of such subsections as Subjects, PDS, Tasks,
and Procedure), Results, Discussion, and References.
Independent variables of the study are gender and the deprivation that participants were placed under.
Authors investigate the influence of these two variables on response latency, trials to criterion, number
of failures, internal attribution, stable attribution, and global attribution.
Two way analysis of variance was used in the study. To collect data about deprivation authors have
used questionnaire, which was created by Misra and Tripathi in 1980. It consists of 96 questions about
15 areas of life such as housing conditions, home environment, and economic sufficiency, as well as
childhood experiences, sociocultural experiences, and so on. To answer each question respondent uses
the 5 point scale. The higher score corresponds to higher deprivation. Total deprivation is equal the
sum of scores for each question.
One hundred and four high school students in India were selected to be the participants of the study.
The share of the males is equal to the share of the females for these participants. In other words, there

Methane. Methane is the second most prevalent GHG emitted by anthropogenic sources, with
anthropogenic emissions accounting for approximately 70 80% of the total CH4 emissions (EPA,
2015; Johnson and Johnson, 1995). Emissions of methane have increased exponentially from the pre
industrial period to present day. During the years 1000 1750, CH4 concentrations in the atmosphere
were approximately 700 parts per billion by volume (ppbv) (IPCC, 2001; EPA, 2015). In the year
2015, CH4 concentrations had risen to approximately 1,864 ppbv, an increase of 166% (NOAA/

Due to the complex process involving OH, when CH4 emissions increase, OH concentrations
decrease, which can increase the AL of CH4 (IPCC, 2013; EPA, 2015). Nitrous Oxide. Nitrous Oxide
emissions have increased by 20%, from 270 ppbv during the pre industrial period to approximately
316 ppbv in the year 2000 (IPCC, 2001; NOAA/ ESRL, 2015b). Although the total N2O emissions are
much lower than CO2; N2O has an atomic lifetime of 114 years and a GWP value of 298, therefore, it
is approximately 300 times more powerful at trapping heat in the atmosphere and increasing the GHE
when compared to CO2 (EPA, 2015). The main sources of anthropogenic N2O emissions includes;
agricultural soils (nitrogen fixing crops and forages), fertilizers (synthetic and manure), feces
deposition from livestock, fossil fuel combustion (predominantly mobile combustion), nylon and nitric
acid production, waste water treatment, and waste incineration and biomass burning (EPA, 2015).
Trace gases and small molecules. Other trace gases and small molecules that influence the GHE and

volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs), and aerosols (EPA, 2015). Atmospheric

The Battle Of Command During Battle
A major hurdle was thus the war was being fought in foreign terrains and as such, the soldiers had to
adapt and learn quickly how to navigate and combat in new grounds. Proper training is also essential
for defining roles and functions for each member of the troops to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
of the entire units. Confusion of formations and chain of command during battle can be devastating to
any unit. Uniformity is crucial in minimizing losses and the number of casualties in battlefields.
Similarly, it is neccesary to avoid conflict of interest among soldiers of the same troop and with allies.
This war being a collaborative battle among allies thus required the highest level of collaboration and
cooperation. Proper training was thus important to ensure that all troops worked and operated as
cohesive units.
Motivation is crucial in the success of any operation whether economical or military. Workers and in
this case soldiers are thus required to be fully committed to the cause and motivated to work for
certain incentives for their service. Remunerations aren t enough to fully motivate a soldier into
engaging in life threatening battles. The political class was thus similarly influential ion offering the
servicemen proper incentives to ensure that they were motivated to perform the duties assigned to
them despite the obvious risks and hardships that they would incur. American soldiers were largely
motivated to participate in the war because of the promises that

The Reform Movements of America
American History Essay Prior to the Civil War, the United States experienced several different reform
movements. These movements included the temperance movement, education movement, prison
movements, women s rights movement, and the anti slavery movement. When glanced together, there
may initially seem to be little connection between these various different movements. However, they
were actually supported by a common theme, the liberation of the human spirit. This idea that all
humans should be free provided the support for all of the different movements. The temperance
movement was based on the idea that humanity should be free from its own vices. The education
movement linked knowledge and freedom. The prison reform movement was not based on physical
liberation, but on the idea that the spirit crushing punitive emphasis of old fashioned prisons would not
create any possibility of change in the inmates. The women s rights movement was based upon the
notion that women should not be treated as inferior to men because of gender. Finally, the anti slavery
movement did not focus solely on the idea that slavery, as an institution, was inherently bad because it
deprived people of their physical liberty without just cause, but also on how slavery was practiced in
the antebellum South and the indignities that accompanied it. The temperance movement is one of the
least understood of all the reform movements because, while it had a tremendous impact on American
society, its

Racial Segregation In Major League Baseball
Introduction
Back in the day, American baseball excluded players of African American descent from Major League
Baseball and also in its lower Minor Leagues up until 1947. Racial segregation in professional
baseball was called a gentleman s agreement an arrangement or understanding which is based upon
the trust of both or all parties, rather than being legally binding because there was no written
agreement even at the highest level of organized baseball, the major leagues. But there was a vote in
the minor league in 1887 that was against allowing new contracts with African American players
within its league which sent a powerful strike that eventually led to the disappearance of African
Americans from the sport s other minor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

QUALITY STANDARDS IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
Quality professionals use the term standards to mean many things, such as metrics, specifications,
gages, statements, categories, segments, groupings or behaviors. But usually when they talk about
standards, they re talking about quality management.
Management standards address the needs of organizations in training, quality auditing and quality
management systems. The ISO 9000 Series, for example, is a set of international standards for quality
management and quality assurance. The standards were developed to help companies effectively
document the elements they need to maintain an efficient quality system. They are not specific to ...

Driving Into Downtown Tucson
Driving into downtown Tucson there is always traffic. Cars are either finding parking spots or just
passing through to head to where they have to go. There are small stores that are smashed in between
tall buildings. Some of them are empty. When you talk to your parents they talk about the time when
downtown was full of life, almost the opposite now. Although it may have old buildings that were the
highlight of our parent s younger days, it is not the historic place you think about. Before there was the
TCC or the downtown district, Tucson was enriched with the lives of the Mexican people who lived
here. They had their homes built next to each other and the plaza to shop at and visit. This was also
where Black Americans and Asian Americans held their businesses either at their homes or in
buildings. It was a community of togetherness and a place people could make into their homes ...

Some are of old Mexican ladies and there is an image of a young man and his friend dressed in the
similar Pachuco style that causes chaos in Los Angeles during the time of War World 2. This is a
positive sign since before they were characterized as punks who were nothing but trouble. Now him
and his friend grace the wall near our city streets. Another way the downtown area of Tucson shows its
Mexican side is the annual Dia de los Muertos parade. This parade is held around Halloween time
where families and fellow Tucsonans gather together and march with music and face paintings to
honor the dead. This is a Mexican tradition that came from Mexico and is celebrated very proudly
every year. In my opinion, if you were to use downtown to describe the people, you would never
describe us right. This town and its people are heavily Mexican. Look around, we are everywhere. But
there is just a small showcase of that. The street names may still have Calle in front of them, they may

  • 3. A Study On Conventional Imaging Conventional Imaging Upon presenting symptoms of abdominal pain or back pain, a common symptom of pancreatic adenocarcinoma, an abdominal x ray or lumbar x ray to may be performed. This exam would be performed as a preliminary image to rule out what is causing the pain; but it is not a preferred modality for diagnostic purposes. The radiographic appearance of the pancreas may show calcifications, which can be a symptom of chronic pancreatitis but not necessarily adenocarcinoma (T. Williams, personal communication, October 14, 2015). Transabdominal Ultrasound Initially when a patient presents with jaundice or abdominal pain, an ultrasound is frequently considered the first line diagnostic tool. The ultrasound provides a non ionizing imaging of the pancreas and can typically show if dilation of the pancreatic duct and/or dilation of the common bile duct is present, also known as the double duct sign (E. Lee J. Lee, 2014). The two most common causes of a radiographic appearance of the double duct sign is carcinoma of the head of the pancreas and carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater (Goel, 2015). The ability to visualize this sign provides answers as to why the jaundice and abdominal pain is present and calls for further investigation to potentially diagnose the patient with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (E. Lee J. Lee, 2014). US may also show a hypoechoic mass with irregular margins that can be typically appreciated as pancreatic adenocarcinoma (E. Lee J. Lee, 2014; Pietryga ... Effects Of The Holocaust Effects of the Holocaust The Holocaust, as you may already know, Was created by hitler as a way to raise hope in his soldiers, even though most nazi soldiers didnt even know about the concentration camps and some thought they were wrong. The holocaust was a span of quite some time from January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945. After liberation many Jewish survivors feared to return to their former homes because of the antisemitism (hatred of Jews) that persisted in parts of Europe and the trauma they had suffered. Some who returned home feared for their lives. In postwar Poland, for example, there were a number of pogroms (violent anti Jewish riots). The largest of these occurred in the town of Kielce in 1946 when Polish rioters killed at least 42 Jews and beat many others. From www.ushmm.org. • 6. Affordable Care Act, By President Obama The Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010, fails to reach the intended goal of being more affordable for those in the population who cannot afford health insurance. The Affordable Care Act affects taxes, the out of pocket spending as well as the national debt. Now, considering the word affordable is in the name of the act itself, it is very contradicting that the Affordable Care Act is not very affordable . Affordable has a very different meaning if you were to ask people across the nation. People in Montana for example, the average salary in the state of Montana is $37,575, while in the state of New York, the average salary is $52,330. Also, by forcing everyone to have health insurance, you put an extra burden on employers. Employers not only now have to pay the employees, but they have to provide health insurance. If health insurance is not provided, employers are forced to pay a fine. It should be the individual person s responsibility to pay for themselves to be covered, not the employer s responsibility. The individual mandate is the base of the Affordable Care Act which requires all Americans to obtain health insurance. The fine for not having health insurance would be taken out of your income tax for every month health insurance is not obtained. Sadly, there is only a small window for signing up for this health insurance. There is a certain open enrollment period in which people must sign up by, or they would have to wait until the next period. This means, if a person were to miss the enrollment period, they would have to suffer the fine for the next consecutive months until the next enrollment period. Since 2014, the fee has risen each year. Therefore, Americans who struggle enough to live and couldn t afford the affordable health care would suffer greatly due to the increased fines. An article published by a mix of doctors from across the country shows how these fines are imposed. There are financial penalties in the form of a new tax on individuals who fail to buy health ... • 9. Comparison Between My Last Duchess Ulysses Regarding... Question : What is a dramatic monologue? Which of the two, in your opinion, is the stronger dramatic monologue in Tennyson s Ulysses or Browning s My Last Duchess ? Answer : Traditionally dramatic monologue is a lyrical poem in the form of speech spoken by a single man. It is dramatic because it begins abruptly and in the development of its thought it takes several sudden turns which impart dramatic dimension to the poem. In a dramatic monologue the single speaker reveals his thoughts in the presence of a single silent listener or some silent listeners. The speaker is not necessarily the poet himself though the speaker often gives out the poet s belief and philosophy. The speaker s revelation, in fact, leads the readers to probe ... Telemachus presence is also felt. Tennyson here follows the tradition of allowing one person to speak and keeping others silent. In My Last Duchess we see the same thing. As the poem progresses, it becomes clear that only a single person speaks. The speaker is the Duke of Ferrara who is talking about his dead Duchess portrait painted by Fra Pandolf. At several points of the poem it becomes evident that there is a listener who remains silent. For example, when the duke says Will t please you sit and look at her? or Will t you please rise? we understand that someone is present around him. Later in the poem, we come to know that he is an emissary for the second marriage of the Duke. Throughout the poem he does not talk. But his reactions are revealed through the Duke s speech. For example, the clue to understand the surprise in the emissary s face has been revealed by the Duke himself : so not the first/ Are you to turn and ask thus. We know he does not ask anything but there has been a question in his countenance. Tennyson reveals his heart s desire in Ulysses . This is another aspect of dramatic monologue. He says he does not enjoy peaceful life at home, and so, he wants to set out for new adventures. His inner thoughts have been revealed. However, the revelation is very simple and plain. • 11. Women s Female Leadership During The Renaissance The concept of the salon, originating in Italy during the Renaissance, was introduced to France in the seventeenth century and evolved into a three hundred year old tradition built exclusively on the strength of feminocentric rule. One of the most fascinating things about the institution of the salon is that its female leadership flourished during a period of history when women were not permitted to be involved in activities outside the boundaries of domesticity. According to Wolf, this paradoxical climate began to emerge during the Renaissance when the Salic law came into effect in fourteenth century. This Law denied women the right to inherit the family name, fortune or property. She was also denied the right to receive a public education. Women learned the only way to gain social status was through marriage, conducting cultural and social functions of the court in their husband s name. Young girls were raised to believe their primary role was to develop the attributes that would secure marrying into the right family. The ability to sing, dance, play multiple instruments was a mark of distinction. Music education especially for women was extremely important to those among the upper class. Some scholars believe men imposed the study of music on women...to prevent them from acquiring the kinds of knowledge, hence power, that men possessed. The time devoted to the study of music developed exceptionally talented women but they were only allowed to play in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The angle of incline of the propeller was an essential factor. The rudder size was also an influential and key factor to this operation. Two rudders were made for the project, made of wood and coated in nail polish as to prevent waterlogging. These rudders would then be attached to the ends of the boats the objective being greater stability. There was a clear indicator of the best type of rudder since the first test. The larger rudder by far allowed the boat to travel the fastest. As indicated on the chart below (see figure 6), the larger rudder was quicker, on average, by .58 seconds. One reason as to why may have been the fact the smaller rudder may have been crafted too small to make a difference. The rudder was an important factor in the boats speeds. The testing procedures may have also been a factor in the results collected. For testing one would release the boat while the other person would time how long it took to reach the end. With every test that was conducted, the boat material would become increasingly waterlogged, corrupting our data. The boats would not float in a straight line, thanks to the time constraints one would have to nudge it in the correct direction to get accurate results. Overall, the testing may have been flawed and possibly inaccurate. When deciding what the boat shape ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The physiology is represented by the organ functions. Acupuncture is a strong component in China, and can be traced to their health care system for at least 2,500 years. The procedure involves inserting hair thin steel surgical needles into specific points in the body. . When needles are placed on the acupuncture points along the meridians, balance, and hence, health is restored. Prior to formally entering the financial crisis, a range of signs forecasting this event had happened around the world. Problems with short term debt funding and mortgaged assets were not limited to the United States, which is also the underlying cause of the financial crisis (Stoeckel, 2009). In 2001, the U.S economy fell into recession after the dotcom crisis and the terrorist event on September 11. To encourage the consumption, the central bank had lowered interest rates. The result was that with interest rates so low, investment and consumption became too easy, the U.S financial markets rapidly back and created real estate bubble . Started from the housing market, the crisis quickly spread to the entire U.S financial system bank. In 2007, the 4th biggest bank in the U.S, name Lehman Brothers was under pressure. Lehman tried many different ways to save itself such as raise capital, sign a deal with Morgan Stanley and Bank of America, merger with Barclays but none of it worked ( Financial Crisis 2007/2008 Overview, 2011). From here, everything was ready for the crisis explosion in September 2008. 2. Reasons There are so many reasons lead to global financial crisis in 2008. • 18. The Role Of Abiotic And Biotic Stresses On The Environment II. REVIEW OF LITERATURE Agriculture is one of the major sector becoming vulnerable to climate change. Increased incidences of abiotic and biotic stresses are likely to cause serious negative impact on crop production. Abiotic stress is defined as the negative impact of non living factors on the living organisms in a specific environment. The non living variable must influence the environment beyond its normal range of variation to adversely affect the performance or individual organism in a significant way. This leads to decrease in the productivity by more than 50% in major crop plants which are growing word wide (Bray et al., 2000). Increased water stress, reduction in rainfall and increased air temperature are the major reasons for yield decline in wheat and paddy crops in many parts of South Asia. The average increase in temperature per decade is measured to be 0.28 ºC over land and 0.12 ºC over ocean and predicted that it is likely to rise further to a maximum of 2.5 ºC by 2050 and 5.8 ºC by 2100 (Jones et al., 1999; Grover et al., 2011). The principal abiotic stresses in India are drought or soil moisture stress, high temperatures, soil salinity/alkalinity, low pH and metal toxicity stresses that affect nearly two thirds area forming parts of the arid and semi arid eco systems (Grover et al., 2011). Development of low cost, easily adaptable methods for the abiotic stress management is a big challenge. Extensive research is being carried out across the globe, to ... Essay on ANS Nervous System The Structure amp; function of the Autonomic Nervous System Introduction: The organs of our body are controlled by many systems in order to function correctly and efficiently in order to survive within the environment we live in. These include the heart, stomach and intestines and other vital organs and body systems. All of the systems in our body are regulated by a part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is part of the peripheral nervous system and it controls many organs and muscles within the body. Rather bizarrely we are unable to determine or feel its presence in our bodies as it is working involuntary, as a reflexive manner. Take notice of figure.1 in the illustrated diagram that the sympathetic nervous system originates in the spinal cord. Specifically, the cell bodies of the first neuron are located in the thoracic and lumbar spinal cord. Axons from these neurons project to a chain of ganglia located near the spinal cord. In most cases, this neuron makes a synapse with another postganglionic neuron in the ganglion. A few preganglionic neurons go to other ganglia outside of the sympathetic chain and synapse there. The postganglionic neuron then projects to the quot;target quot; either a muscle or a gland. Two more facts about the sympathetic nervous system are the synapse in the sympathetic ganglion, uses acetylcholine as a neurotransmitter. The synapse of the postganglionic neuron with the target organ uses the neurotransmitter called norepinephrine. There is one exception to this, the sympathetic postganglionic neuron that terminates on the sweat glands uses acetylcholine. The Parasympathetic nervous system is an antagonist to the sympathetic nervous system. Its primary function is to give you the ability to rest and relax, in times when you are tired or stressed. The parasympathetic nervous system works to save energy and allow your blood pressure to also decrease. Your heartbeat reduces becoming much slower, and digestion can start. Health care delivery corruption in Nigeria prevails because there is no compliance to the rule of law, the administrative system in Nigeria lacks transparency and trust, also the public sector which could have acted as a check and balance is ruled by ineffective civil service codes and weak accountability methods (Husmann, K. 2011). Causes/Manifestations: Nigeria health system information is asymmetrical in nature and is susceptible to corruption because large numbers of care givers see this as an opportunity to create systemic hindrances and therefore discourage transparency and accountability. It was even argued that consumers not only suffer the consequences of the infected system but also help to encourage the corrupt system, it was reported that some patients believed that one cannot obtain high quality health care unless one is socially or relatively connected to a health care worker, if not, one has to pay a bribe as an incentive to receive health care from caregivers that are trained and paid for the job. This has created a social norm in which bribing is deemed to be legitimate (Adegboyega et al 2012). Confusion of formations and chain of command during battle can be devastating to any unit. Uniformity is crucial in minimizing losses and the number of casualties in battlefields. These movements included the temperance movement, education movement, prison movements, women s rights movement, and the anti slavery movement. When glanced together, there may initially seem to be little connection between these various different movements. However, they were actually supported by a common theme, the liberation of the human spirit. This idea that all humans should be free provided the support for all of the different movements. The temperance movement was based on the idea that humanity should be free from its own vices. The education movement linked knowledge and freedom. The prison reform movement was not based on physical liberation, but on the idea that the spirit crushing punitive emphasis of old fashioned prisons would not create any possibility of change in the inmates. The women s rights movement was based upon the notion that women should not be treated as inferior to men because of gender. Finally, the anti slavery movement did not focus solely on the idea that slavery, as an institution, was inherently bad because it deprived people of their physical liberty without just cause, but also on how slavery was practiced in the antebellum South and the indignities that accompanied it.
