Catastrophe Of Rats
The large, diabolical, disease carrying rodents can be found all around the world. The multiple
species of rats can be found almost anywhere, no matter where they originated from. The hellish
rats have caused many problems to all of society which is leaving people to investigate deeper
about the mysterious creatures. The worldwide catastrophe of rat infestations is causing humans to
consider what is the cause, how is it affecting the society, and how the crisis can be solved. To
begin, the influence of rats converging to the human world is being caused by harsh weather and
overabundance of food. The high expansion of rat population is dominating the world around based
on our climate. In source 1, it states , Recent cold weather... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some people consider training cats or dogs to hunt the rodents, but others just choose to set traps
with fake food or poison. These ways are most common because of how simple it is to
accomplish and that it can be very effective. Another way to prevent rats is to take away what
they are seeking to get, for example in source 2 it states, Dr Belmain says that, when the rats
come, some people simply do not bother planting crops. They just accept that it is pointless. The
quote is showing how farmers and citizens are lowering the usage of food by not producing it. By
using this method, it causes there to be no food for the rats to come after. To sum it up, preventing
rat infestations is possible and the society has come up today with multiple ways to avoid

Nazi Propaganda Was A Well Know Thing During The Holocaust
Nazi Propaganda was a well know thing during the holocaust. Hitler and Joseph Goebbels were
the ring leaders. Hitler became the German chancellor, and in March of that year he appointed
Goebbels the country s minister for public enlightenment and propaganda. Goebbels had
complete jurisdiction over the content of German newspapers, magazines, books, music, films,
stage plays, radio programs and fine arts. His mission was to censor all opposition to Hitler and
present the chancellor and the Nazi Party in the most positive light while stirring up hatred for
Jewish people. Hitler was a well supported person. Many Germans supported him for many
reasons. The purpose of propaganda was to condition and convince people, and get them to believe
in the values and ideas of the Nazis.
Propaganda is well known for war posters. It is a mode of communication aimed at influencing the
attitude of a community toward some cause or position. Propaganda was used by the Nazi party in
the years leading up to and during Adolf Hitler s leadership of Germany. Propaganda was a crucial
instrument for acquiring and maintaining power. The Nazis used propaganda to increase their
support and appeal. They spent huge sums of money on newspapers, leaflets and poster campaigns
with simple slogans encouraging people to support the party.
The military style of the Nazis involved using large political rallies to gain support. These were
vast, highly organized events with banners and marching bands. The rallies

The, Illusions, Visions And The Irrational All Stem From...
Dreamscapes, illusions, visions and the irrational all stem from the basis of Surrealism. It was an
art movement that started in Paris in 1924, creating a wide interest towards tapping into the
psychoanalytic, the unconscious and the use of chance. By unlocking the power of the
imagination, artists such as Salvador Dali (1904 1989) and Max Ernst (1891 1976), felt that they
could reach a new level of meaning and dimension. Both of these artists have respectively left a
mark on the Surrealist movement through their use of painting and collage. Dali s painting The
Persistence of Memory (1931), creates unfamiliar contexts with the use of illusions and realism.
Ernst s Surrealistic novel Une Semaine de Bonte (1934), is a purely graphic collage novel
stemming from the influences of alchemy and metamorphosis. Surrealist aesthetics were a vital
part of the movement and the artists themselves strongly lived by them. The founder of Surrealism
was AndrГ© Breton; a French writer and poet. He was the author of the two Surrealist manifestos,
one in 1924 and the other in 1930. Breton believed that true Surrealists had no talent; they were just
able to speak their thoughts as it happened, and they were able to access their unconscious mind to
overcome rationality and reason. Surrealist theory was largely influenced by Sigmund Freud. Freud
s work The Interpretation of Dreams (1900) insisted that a dream can be used in dealing with
pathological symptoms by interpreting the various

Cognitive, Social and Psychological Determinants of Emotional State
A Study That Test the Two Factor Theory of Emotion
Lamin Williams
Riverwood International High School
Introduction
The name of this article is called, Cognitive, Social and Psychological Determinants of Emotional
State. In 1962, Schachter and Singer put their two factor theory of emotion to the test. Schachter
and Singer believed that physical arousal played a huge role in emotions. They came up with one
of the earliest cognitive theories of emotion. In the experiment, they provide three main
hypotheses, which were derived from the aim of the study. The first one asks, if a person
experiences a state of arousal for which they have no immediate ... Show more content on

This was an experiment with many manipulated variables. There were two independent variables are
the information given to the subjects about the injection they were given and the situation they had
to experience. The Dependent variable is the emotional arousals of the participant. From the results,
the epinephrine had the desired effect of raising heart rate and subject ratings of tremors and
palpitations. Also, the misinformed people didn t experience any sympathetic symptoms of
headaches or itchiness. In the euphoria condition, it was clear that the subjects were drawn more
to the stooge s mood and consequently more euphoric when they had no explanation of their own
body s state. Based on behavior observations they found the same results. In the anger condition,
the self report data was suspicious because the students didn t want to express anger to the
experimenter about participating in the test. But based on behavior scores, people who were
ignorant were a lot angrier than the informed and placebo. From the results, it shows that people
will assign an emotion to a physiological change based on the available emotions in the social
situation.
Analysis
In this experiment, Schachter and Singer were able to manipulate the amount of control they had.
An example of this is how they were able to assign different participants to the different conditions.

Invicta Soil Patterns
Introduction
The accidental introduction of the red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta Buren (Hymenoptera:
Formicidae: Myrmicinae) to Alabama between 1933 and 1945 led to the eventual invasion of all
of the southeastern US. Once established, the species quickly developed a reputation for both its
sting and its ability to rapidly invade new habitats. As S. invicta expanded its range out of urban
centers and into various other habitats, concerns arose about the ability of the species to invade
pristine systems and displace native ant species. Yet, research has found that S. invicta is less of a
superior competitor and more of an opportunistic, disturbance specialist. For example, a study in
southeast Texas by LeBrun et al. (2012) compared the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
invicta (Stiles and Jones 1998, Forys et al. 2002). In the Florida Keys in the late 80 s, the
density of S. invicta was relatively low, as invasion had not yet occurred on every island (Porter
1992). By 2002 a study by Forys et al. found high densities primarily concentrated along roadways
and in edge habitats in every Key. Furthermore, undisturbed sites were more likely to be occupied
if they were within 50m of a road and within 150m of high densities of urban development. This
indicates that the conditions within these sites of localized disturbance allow for persistence and
eventual dispersal into undisturbed sites (Forys et al.

The Act Of The Indian Tribes Of This Province
The Act to encourage the Gradual Civilization of the Indian Tribes of this Province, and to amend
the Laws respecting Indians was an Act with the goal of placing indigenous people at the same
level as British North American citizens. In essence, indigenous people would have the same or
similar legal rights such that all distinctions would be removed between them and British North
Americans. Furthermore, this Act was supposed to grant and help indigenous people gain rights
with respect to property ownership.
This Act had fifteen regulations that were applicable only to indigenous people who decided on
becoming enfranchised Indians and hence, British subjects. In becoming a British subject, these
individuals would lose their First Nations status. Therefore, while this Act may appear to help
Indigenous people, its ultimate goal was to create new subjects for the crown and hence, remove
Frist Nation s status.
Examples of the type of regulations established in this Act are as followed: 1) The act shall apply
only to individuals who are Indians, or have Indian blood, or are intermarried with Indians.
Therefore, these individuals must be part of an Indian Tribe which resides on some land that is
their own and was never surrendered to the Crown. Furthermore, it is only these particular
individuals who are entitled to the regulations of this Act and of other Acts. 2) A commissioner will
be appointed such that they are in charge of examining the Indians who want to

Essay On Romans 13
Romans has long been the mainstay of Christian theology; in addition to, Messianic Jews (Hebrew
Christians). A critical factor for biblical interpretation is context and nowhere is this point truer
than Romans 13: 1 7. The common interpretation of Romans 13 is obedience to governing
authorities; however, there are exceptions to rules, both legally and scripturally. There are times
when God s law supersedes man s law. Theologian, Bob Deffinbaugh states that, Even when one
cannot obey, they can still demonstrate a submissive spirit; ergo, this submissive spirit should never
be set aside when it comes to those in authority. Robert L. Deffinbaugh, The Christian and Civil
Government Romans 13: 1 7 В¶13, (18 August 2004).
One illustration of obeying God s law over men while demonstrating a submissive spirit is in the
case of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego In the Book of Daniel 3. These three wise Jewish boys
had found favor in the eyes of Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzer and were placed as high
appointed officials in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzer had commissioned the creation of an

How The Glass Booth Should Be Integrated Into The Museum
As a museum, our job is to create an experience for our visitors in order to leave an artistic
impression in their heads. Many museums have attempted to create unique exhibitions such as
period rooms and displays in order to amaze the crowds that travel through and make their
experience a memorable one. Nowadays it is difficult to amaze a crowd that has so many
resources at its disposable. The internet has made it possible to view any work of art with just the

This piece was created during the crusades and demonstrates an important message to those who
would either go on the crusades or were contemplating converting to Christianity. The legend of
the seven sleepers demonstrates a protection from the lord for those who want to convert but are
afraid of persecution. In the legend those who converted were noblemen which give an example
to the common people as if to say that being Christian is indeed fashionable and done by the top
of the hierarchy as well as the bottom. The second piece is a stained glass portrayal of a prophet.
The piece is called Prophet. Created ca. 1390 1400, the context of the piece is unknown but at
the time it was typical to see prophets in architectural settings. It is colorless glass with silver
stain and vitreous gold paint. Created after the Valois branch took over the Capetian dynasty in
1328, this piece is significant in that it isn t as colorful as stained glass mosaics that are
typically shown in the cathedrals. The period in which this piece was made was significant
because it was the last flowering of gothic art until the introduction of Italian Renaissance motifs
in the 1450s by Jean Fouquets . The final piece of artwork is called the Adoration of the Magi, it is
also stained glass and was created circa 1390. It is from the Schlosskapelle, Ebreichsdorf, Austria

description of the land in which the story unfolds as well as a glimpse of nature that provides a
vivid contrast to the machine defined lives the novel s many characters live. * The fundamental
conflict is captured in two people, Dejean (the French manager and colonialist) and Bakayoko (the
soul and spirit of the strike). * The evolution of the strike causes an evolution in the self
perceptions of the Africans themselves, one that is most noticeable in the women of Bamako,
ThiГЁs, and Dakar. * These women go from seemingly standing behind the men in their lives, to
walking alongside them and eventually marching ahead of them. * Women go from supporting the
strike to participating in the strike. Eventually it is the women that march on foot, over four days
from ThiГЁs to Dakar. * The women s march causes the French to understand the nature of the
willpower that they are facing, and shortly after the French agree to the demands of the strikers.

Hey There Delilah, by the Plain White T s, is a touching story about a woman s admirer that
wishes to see her again and promises to go to her no matter how perilous or painstaking the
circumstances may be.To begin, the artist uses a specific diacope over and over in order to express
his lovefor the girl he is singing about, Delilah. He constantly repeats in the chorus, Oh it s what
you do to me (Plain White T s, line 15 19). The repetition of this diacope makes the song more

risk because the only personnel that need to be in the server room are those that have access to
the server room itself. If someone other than IT needs access to this room for any reason, they
should get approval at a corporate level. Also, at any point that this server room door should be

Annexation Of The Philippines Created The American Empire...
Annexation of the Philippines Created the American Empire The history of the world is one filled
with war, brutality, and greed from nations exerting their might to gain power or land. Driven by
greed, history is written by the wants and desires of nations to become larger, wealthier, at the
expense of those smaller forms a never ending cycle from the time of the earliest writings, to
modern days. The United Statesis no different. From the time we occupied the east coast, driving
the Native Americans west, to our westward expansion, further driving the Native Americans and
Mexico out of their lands, we have never been satisfied. Once we reached the west coast, our eyes
began scanning across the oceans. With the country secure, the United States needed foreign lands
to establish the empire. The Philippines would provide this opportunity for us. The Spanish
American war delivered the opportunity for America s entry into the Philippines. The annexation of
the Philippines transformed the United States into an empire and better prepared the Filipino
people for independence.
Snapshot of the Philippines To justify the case for the annexation of the Philippines, we must first
look at a snapshot of the Philippine archipelago to understand the advantages the islands provided
the United States. The Philippines was a vast chain consisting of over 7,000 islands, with 74
provinces, 43 different ethnic groups, and 87 different spoken languages. The population around

Sir Philip Sidney and an Analysis of Six of his Poems Essay
Everyone in this world starts somewhere, thousands of new beginnings each day, a new story
drafted every moment. A story can be written, told by mouth, or acted out, but it is the original
telling, the occurrence of such a story, which remains the most engaging and interesting, leading
to the stories that will be told long after the characters are gone. With each birth a new story
begins, with each achievement the plot of a story is established, and with each death a story is
passed on. Some people create more stories than their own, weaving their words into a tale of their
choosing. All of these stories are equally significant, some more popular than others are told often,

While traveling he viewed the massacre of St. Bartholomew s Day, an extremely gory group of
assassinations that resulted in many deaths, resulting in the reinforcement of his protestant

recalled to court by the Queen. He joined court upon his homecoming in 1575, and later became
known as one of the ideal gentlemen of the time period, his chivalrous manner and personality
that of the perfect courtier. He was a great favorite and became greatly respected in his position.
In 1576 Sidney succeeded his father as cupbearer to Queen Elizabeth, which was a purely
ceremonial duty, and a year later the Queen gave him a diplomatic mission of traveling to the
German Emperor and the Prince of Orange to present Elizabeth s condolences on the death of
their fathers. He was to find out if they would be open to the formation of a Protestant alliance
against Catholic Spain. This mission as a diplomat was not as successful as he had hoped because
he came back far more hopeful and optimistic than the other diplomats, and the Queen was not as

Lady With Lapdog By Anton Chekhov
Bad Romance
As Haddaway once said, what is love? Baby, don t hurt me, don t hurt me no more. Everyone has
a different perspective of what love really is. People can fall in love or believe they are in love
because of physical attraction. Some may believe that lust can become into something more. In the
short story, Lady with Lapdog by Anton Chekhov translated by David Magarshack, the main
protagonist Gurov is married with a twelve year old daughter and two sons. He is not extremely
happy with his family life so he likes to have small affairs to get away from it. As the plot develops
he meets a girl named Anna, who he falls head over heels for, making the womanizer, fall in love.
Even though what the did is immoral, it can be a good thing for the pair. They may have gotten
out a situation that was not making them happy. Love can control the way people dictate their
lives. Is it for the good of the people? Is it just some emotion that causes mischief? As seen in
Lady with Lapdog, love is a powerful emotion that can alter people s motives as well as can
change other s lives in an instant. Although love is about sacrifice for the significant other, it can
also a very selfish emotion. During the story the when Gurov and Anna are in their affair she starts
to complain and he, could not help feeling bored as he listened to her...she buried her face on his
chest and clung close to him, (Chekhov 269), showing that he is not willing to listen to her when

125).
Looking at the social comparison theory (Festinger, 1954), ...individuals have an innate drive to
evaluate their abilities and opinions. If an objective or non social basis for the evaluation is
unavailable, individuals tend to compare themselves to others who then serve as reference points.
Women are comparing themselves not to ordinary women walking along the street, but to
celebrities in the media and instead of being happy for themselves comparing their bodies to what
the media say is beautiful will make them insecure.
The Body Image and Self Schema Theory can be defined as the degree of attractiveness, ...our
own internal view of how we look, how we think we appear to others, and how we feel about our
looks (Thompson et al., 1999, p. 3). People may be found attractive by others but when they look
at themselves they have a negative body image. When a woman has a negative body image this is
known as body image disturbance. Body image disturbance can include affective (e. g. anxiety),
cognitive (e. g. expectations), behavioural (e. g. avoiding situations that expose the body), and
perceptual (e. g. overestimation of one s body size) features and its levels may range from none to
extremely high with most individuals falling somewhere in the middle. (Thompson et al., 1999, p.

1889. In 1907 Hitler applied to enter the Vienna Academy of Art but his application was rejected.
After the death of his mother Klara, Hitler decided to move to Vienna. He drifted from job to
job, often selling sketches or painting scenes of Old Vienna and it was a period that he himself
later called the most miserable period of his life. Many of Hitler s views of the world were shaped
by his experiences on the streets of Vienna and it is probable that his violent anti Semitism dates
from this time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A central theme of Hitler s thinking was the concept of struggle. In the nineteenth century the
naturalist Charles Darwin had explained how in the world of nature when the environment changed
some of the species with favourable variations survived better that others. Darwin called this natural
selection .
Social Darwinism was a concept that emerged later in the nineteenth century suggesting that what
applied to nature could also apply to human society that the strong prevail over the weak, that
superior races prevail over inferior races. This concept with its theme of struggle and survival of
the fittest appealed to Hitler. Struggle wrote Hitler is the father of all things...He who wants to live
must fight and who does not want to fight in this world where external struggle is the law of life
has no right to exist *.
In Mein Kamph Hitler offered some insight into his thinking on exercise of power and in
particular the important role of propaganda, his contempt of parliamentary democracy and the
Weimar Republic. Hitler also wrote of the need for a national revival and the quest for living
space. Hitler linked his hatred of communism with his hatred of Jews. In Hitler s mind Russia was

Analysis Of Making An Investment In A Foreign Market
Making an Investment in a Foreign Market Name: Institution Making an Investment in a Foreign
Market Introduction As globalization intensifies, the business community tends to expand its
operations towards the international market. This can be as a result of intense competition in the
local market, need to increase sales and profits margins, to enhance the company s prestige, to
create jobs, to increase the value of the entrepreneurs among others (Bodie, 2013). Before going

The high population of the middle class in the country also meant that the client base was almost

The suppliers of the product that the company intends to produce and sell were not yet ascertained
and this provided a setback. After analysing all the factors that favour the company s investment
against those that deter its choice of investing, I ascertained that the increase in revenue of the firm
and reduction in the cost of operating in the foreign market was a probability thereby the value of

The 5 Communication Styles Based On The Lecture Material
PD7 A2
JRMARION
The 5 communication styles based on the lecture material are competing, avoiding, accommodating,
compromising and collaborating.
The competing style is used when people trying to achieve a goal or accomplish something. It is
used during arguments, such as when you are arguing against somebody else to prove a point.
The avoiding style is used when a person shows little interest in the other party they are
communicating with. This is used when often when interacting with a person you identify as an
unimportant stranger, such as when you bump into a stranger in a crowd and apologize.
The compromising style is used when a person cares about who they are interacting with and care
about their objectives / goals. An example of this would be scheduling with a friend over when to
meet up to do something since you care about their opinion and are willing to try to compromise.
The accommodating stance is used when you care more about the other party s goals more than
your own (in many cases). An example of this would be if your boss asked you to work overtime
and even though you didn t want to you agreed to do it.
The collaborating stance is used when both parties plan to accomplish their goals fully (unlike
compromising where the goals cannot be fully met) and to improve the relationship between them.
An example of this would be trading with somebody where both sides end up better off afterwards.

Evaluation Of A Student Outcomes
Part two: Summary of student outcomes
The evaluation of the students work was conducted with the end of year exams in mind. In
particular, I wanted to provide feedback and forward to the students that was targeted towards their
essay writing in the exams at the end of the year. I grouped results from what grades the students
gained against the marking schedule that I developed. Bearing in mind that the sample size was
small, most students attained the merit grade, with the same amount of students being either side of
the merit grade with three respectively. This indicates that the work that is being achieved is at an
above average level, highlighted by no one failing the assessment. The evidence also suggests that
the students are on the way to excellence. With the feed forward being provided there should be a
number of those students who should be attaining excellences in that class at the end of year mock
exams.
In terms of the specific feedback forward itself. There were common trends that came through for
each grade. Figure two, outlines some common themes that came across for each student attaining
those grades. For the achieved level the, students were identifying the causes and consequences.
The feedforward for those students is that if they want to attain merits and excellences they need to
be giving more specific detail to accompany their causes and consequences. What that indicates is
that I need to provide to those students a wider range of examples to allow

Spanish Financial Crisis
Spanish financial crisis
Introduction
(source: Wikipedia)
The 2008 2010 Spanish financial crisis is part of the world economic crisis of 2008. In Spain, the
crisis was generated by long term loans (commonly issued for 40 years), the building market crash
which included the bankruptcy of major companies, and a particularly severe increase in
unemployment, which rose to 13.9% in February 2009.
Spain continued the path of economic growth when the ruling party changed in 2004, keeping
robust GDP growth during the first term of prime minister JosГ© Luis RodrГguez Zapatero, even
though some fundamental problems in the Spanish economy were already self evident. Among
these, according to the Financial Times, there was Spain s huge trade deficit ... Show more content

would ultimately lead to the breakup of the eurozone.
So will the EU step up and bail out Spain? Well, there are rumors that EU officials have begun
work on a bailout package for Spain which is likely to run into the hundreds of billions of dollars,

Live Your Own Life
Two kinds by Amy Tan is a short story that you could pull many themes from. The main and most
obvious theme I pulled from the story is that everyone is responsible to choose their future.
My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America (Tan 49). This quote
shows you the confidence her mother had when it came to doing something you believed in while
you were in the United States. This idea is important because her mom thought she could make her
daughter into anything because they lived in the United States and many other people have been
successful in the United States too. Two or three months went by without any mention of my being
a prodigy. And then one day my mother was watching the Ed Sullivan

Patriotism in Spiderman Movies
The portrayal of the feelings of the general public is constantly used in film to stir the audience.
If the filmmaker can rouse their feelings, people will be more engrossed in the movie than they
would be otherwise. What is arguably the strongest emotion in many people is the feeling of
patriotism. As George Bernard Shaw said, Patriotism is your conviction that this country is
superior to all other countries because you were born in it. Though this feeling is not necessarily
based on logic, it is none the less one of the most powerful feelings along with hatred and love.
Depending on when a movie is made, the amount of patriotism portrayed is directly related to the
political and social climate on the time. Specifically, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie doesn t jolt the viewer into having a greater feeling of patriotism afterwards, but it
does reaffirm their support for the troops and however much patriotism they felt beforehand.
Though Spider Man (2002) and Spider Man 2 (2004) are very close together in terms of time and
plotline, the way they use the superhero to bring out the movie goers feeling of patriotism is very
different. The first is almost completely blind in the amount of patriotism it fed its audience. With
the unwavering support for the government the American public felt at the time, the movie not
only portrayed the country s patriotic feelings, but actually caused a temporary increase in the
amount of patriotism felt by most movie goers. This patriotism is very simple, but can have a
great impact when used at the right times. The second Spider Man movie had just as much
patriotism as the first, but it was used in a much more subtle way. Spiderman was no longer the
faceless leader of the people against evil, but he was a representative of the American troops and
how human they really are. Spiderman was no longer invincible in this movie, and although he
won in the end, he took a lot more damage than he did in the first movie. Just as real men and
women died overseas, Spiderman was injured badly and only survived by his strong will and the
undying support of the citizens of New York. Together, Spider Man (2002) and Spider Man 2

His wives, especially the youngest, lived in perpetual fear of his fiery temper, and so did his little

legitimate reason such as the dead banana tree incident in the following quote (page 28), As a
matter of fact the tree was very much alive. Okonkwo s second wife had merely cut a few leaves

Glaciation In The Pacific Cordillera Of North America
Although it may not feel like it, we are currently in an ice age today. An ice age is just a period
of time when the Earth s climate faces a constant and drastic decrease in temperature. Periods of
colder temperature during an ice age have been called glaciations because they result in something
being covered by glaciers or ice sheets. Shorter term, irregular intervals of warmer temperatures
have been called interglacials , which is what we are currently living in today. However, some
scientists believe that the climatemay dramatically decrease in the near future, and we could see
glaciers return again like we did in the last glacial period. This last glacial period is referred to as

The glaciations that occurred during this glacial period covered many areas, primarily in the
Northern Hemisphere where the ice sheets were approximately two and a half miles thick. There
were twelve different names assigned to the multiple locations where glaciation occurred at that
time. Three terms were coined for glaciation in North America. Glaciation in the Pacific Cordillera
of North America was known as, Fraser . The Central Rocky Mountain area s glaciation was called
Pinedale , and glaciation in central North America was known as Wisconsinian .
When the Ice Age began, the Rocky Mountain National Park area saw large ice sheets covering
much of the land. There had been proof of earlier glaciation in the Rocky Mountain area because a
mass of older rocks and sediments called moraines had been deposited by a glacier and found on the
edges and extremities of the mountains there. Unfortunately, a large majority of the evidence has
been erased by the more recent glaciation in the Ice Age.

Writing Illegal Graffiti On The Streets For A Property Owner
Legal A piece that is made with permission of a property owner. Artists generally have to gain
experience writing illegal graffiti on the streets for a considerable amount of time to be considered
for legal, and sometimes commissioned, graffiti. Some artists believe that graffiti is illegal by
definition, and are not interested by painting in legal areas or having their work sanctioned by
society.
Mop A graffitimarker used to draw large tags. Mops have a rounded nib, and leave a fat drippy
line. Mops can be purchased pre filled, or can be filled with the artist s own inks or paints.
Motives of graffiti artists Respect and fame are the driving forces of graffiti artists. Drawing
graffiti provides excitement and action, a sense of control, and an element of risk.
Names Every graffiti form involves the artist s name or tag. The name is what graffiti is about,
and it is used as either the central feature or as an ornament within the piece. This is because
writers want to be known. The work usually involves the artist s self chosen name or nickname,
not their true name. Some writers will also use multiple spellings of their name so that they can
mix up the letters or use a long form when painting large pieces and short form for throw ups.
Writers whose names are well recognized by other artists and the authorities have been known to
change their names to avoid prosecution. Other times they simply get tired of doing the same letters
over and over.

What Is The Idea Of Justice In Frankenstein
Under normal circumstances, the monster should not receive justice because he violates socially
accepted rules. This makes it easier to disregard Victor s and the other s actions toward him
because their actions do not overlook social laws and seem necessary. In turn, the monster becomes
less likeable and harder to sympathize with as the narrative continues. However, as the monster
brings up in one of his final speeches, society goes against fundamental Christian rules of
acceptance and welcoming others by not receiving him. Before his death, the monster asserts Am I
to be thought the only criminal, when all human kind sinned against me? Why do you not hate

His story and outlook on life highlights the tension between him and society, while synchronously
pitting them against one another and bringing them together, thus making it difficult to determine
who is truly in the wrong. The monster s predicament highlights how justice is never truly a fair
concept because it cannot be equitable for everyone involved; there is inevitably a winner and a
loser. Shelley masterfully plays upon this notion, recognizing this holds true for the most basic and
extreme situations, illustrating that good and evil are intertwined, making justice incredibly
difficult to achieve and oftentimes much closer connected than first thought. The monster s quest
for justice brings depth and conflict to the story by underlining that while justice is not always fair,
it can be deserved by all. Yet by the Gothic undertones that are present in the story, the tragedy lies
in the fact that the monster, though helpless and lonely his entire life, can never have justice as he
is doomed to repel it from the moment his life

How Did Woody Indians Influence Society In The 1930 s
If I walked up to a person today they most likely wouldn t know who John Steinbeck, Will Rogers
or Woody Guthrie is. In the 1930s, this was a different story. Everybody knew who they were in
the 30 s. Steinbeck, Guthrie, and Rogers were famous for their work considering the Great

Woody Guthrie, and John Steinbeckall influenced society in the 30 s by providing a means of
diversion for the common man.
In the 1930 s the people of America turned to John Steinbeck to understand and relate to the
hardships of the Depression. John Steinbeck was most famous for writing Of Mice and Men which
references the Great Depression. Another one of his novels is about the Great Depression, it is

The Tories Research Paper
The Tories were compiled disgruntled young Irishmen whose ancient hatred for the English
coupled with the spectacle of defeat, despair and degradation was sufficient reason to continue
resistance . They were led by dispossessed noblemen and Irish officers. They mostly attacked
livestock but were not against killing an Englishman once in a while. The English s punishment
for Tories was strict and after a band of Tories killed two Protestants in Lackagh, 4 Irishmen were
hanged for not preventing the murder and others, including 2 priests and an 80 year old woman
were sent to Barbados. Since the Irish usually just took livestock though, the English would just tax
the town closest to where the livestock was taken. Frequently, the town could not pay this and this
would cause the government to tax the surrounding areas. This in turn would cause many more
men to become Tories due the economic strife being inflicted on them by the English. It got so bad
in some areas that Catholic swordsmen were allowed to stay in some... Show more content on

When the Adventurers arrived on their lands, they often found the former Irish owners still living
on it. Little sympathy was found amongst the English military officers due to their newfound
economic rivalry and the affection that some of the officers had gained through their exposure to
the Irish for almost a decade . The Adventures, who were made up of mostly London merchant,
had all the Anti Catholic prejudices that were all too common at the time of their arrival . But
little to nothing was actually done to rid the area of the Irish who were doing labor. The
Adventures also made up only a small group that had little influence over policies in Ireland at the
time. Shortly after the Adventurers arrival though, the Cromwellian Settlement would begin its
unraveling that would lead to the Restoration of King Charles II in

The Ultra Beast Loop
At this point, I was still feeling good about making the cut off, I got to this point of the course
later than I expected, but I still had over an hour of time to make it less than two miles and figured
I would get it done.
What I wasn t aware of (most of the other Ultra Beast racers weren t either) is we had to do the
Ultra Beast loop on the front end of the back end of the Beast lap (hope that makes sense) and this
section of the course was about a mile up and down a mountain with a total of four additional
obstacles. This part started with a trail right up the mountain again on a pretty steep incline and it
was now just after 2 PM and the sun was killer and taking its toll on me and other racers. I can t lie,

The course went in to a stream bed for a brief and very at times technical section and then made its
way out to the Z Wall , which was more challenging than typically as it was around 15.5 miles into
the course and we just spent the last few minutes in very cold running water. A very short distance
after the Z walls was the spear toss, which the hay targets where pretty beat up at this point and
what typically is a dead in the middle of the target stick for me fell out. Another very short
distance away was the next obstacle the Monkey Bars , which at least for me are way harder
than the ones used at Spartan America races. The course went back in the cold stream bed one
last time for a short distance and then came out just near the Slip Wall and just after the slip wall
was the Fire Jump and then the finish line. Talk about a bitter sweet end to an amazing course, I
just finished one of the harder Spartan races I have ever done and that was after doing the 10+ mile

A Feminist Reading of The Awakening
The Awakening is not new to me. However, in the class when I read it before the instructor refused
to entertain a feminist criticism. The theory presented was that Edna knew what kind of man she
was marrying and all these things she went through: her friendship with Madame Reisz leaving the
house, entertaining her friends at the party, her situation with Robert and Arobin were all selfish
efforts toward the ultimate freedom which is death.
I feel Chopin faults Leonce as much as Edna for Edna s problems. He is a cold fish. He is
controlling and he puts on a show for friends and neighbors proving he is a model husband which
he is not. He is Creole and I think Edna, being as reserve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Her search for freedom builds and destroys relationships. She befriends people and then chooses
to ignore them. Her final big party is her final farewell. She brings out all the sensuousness that her
reserve had kept her from expressing and enjoying. Everything pleasing to the senses is there for
her guests. There are colors, textures, tastes, and sounds for the senses to luxuriate. But all this
sensory enhancements doesn t keep her attention. She feels the same old ennui, and the party
shortly thereafter breaks up. Of course, all this meets with Leonce disapproval. His concern is not
about his wife s mental or emotional health, but rather, what people will say.
To experience freedom of the soul Edna has no choice but to return to the sea. It is the only thing
capable of giving her the emotional security and sensual satisfaction at the same time. She goes to
it and allows it to claim her.
Like many of Chopin s stories, The Awakeningends in a death. Chopin apparently sees death as
the ultimate freedom. No matter what we do as women in this world we are always restricted in
our movements by some facet of our lives. While Chopin tries to speak for women, I think this
premise that our lives are restricted also applies to men. There may not be as many restrictions but
they are there. Freedom s just another word for nothin left to loose. Janis Joplin

Plato Totalitarianism Analysis
Plato s Republic doesn t shy from heavily totalitarian associated values: censorship, noble lies,
and elite rule to name a few. Scholars and political theorists alike have been quick to criticize him
for these politics, claiming The Republic to be a blueprint for these especially conservative views.
However, it can just as well be argued that those who insist that Plato s work be in support of
totalitarianismdon t fully grasp many of the concepts Socrates lays out in defense of democracy. In
these contrasting interpretations, Plato can be pulled both ways. Still, it would be easier to find
a sort of compromise in interpreting The Republic; although it is that Plato lays out his ideas
much in favor of a totalitarian regime, he just as well articulates his arguments in a contrastingly
democratic way. How he portrays his ideas depends on the well being of the people; even if
through totalitarian means, Plato s focus in governing is on the governed as opposed to those
governing. On Plato s references to the utilitarian value of censorship, the totalitarian undertones in
keeping a people at bay are hard to overlook. The Republic blatantly suggests the necessity of
censoring information from the people in order to control their access to information. Socrates
argues that ...early life is very impressible, and children ought not to learn what they will have to
unlearn when they grow up; we must therefore have a censorship of nursery tales, banishing some
and keeping others

Homelessness In The Grapes Of Wrath
The novel Grapes of Wrath contained an abundance of different common themes, such as loss,
transience, and religion. One theme that I noted to be consistent was that of helplessness. The
Joads, as well as many other characters for that matter, seemed to have little control over most of
the events that occurred in the book. Helplessness seems to be common, not only in Steinbeck s
book, but in life too. Most seem to have little to no control over what happens in their life, and the
food industry isn t exempt from this trait either. Helplessness lingered in every dark corner for the
Joads. It seemed that they couldn t control much of what was happening to them, but instead had to
just go with it and make the best out of it. The beginning

Existentialism Is a Humanism
CONTEXT Sartre is trying to defend existentialism against some disapproval to it. The Communist
criticized existentialism as an invitation to people to take interest in hopeless world affairs. On the
other hand, Christians reproached from the fact that people deny the need of attention in human
affairs. People have the will to do anything they want and wish. With the example given, about
ignoring the Ten Commandments, we can people deny the value of following the commandments
and will only follow it if they wish.

people he doesn t know. Yes, he can entrust his works and life with his comrades and family, but not
to strangers. Does that mean that I should abandon myself to quietism? NO. What we should do is
to commit ourselves then act the commitment made. Sartre stated that man is nothing else than
what he proposes. Because he hasn t found anything yet he seeks, he continues to living until the
day he found it. You are nothing else but what you live , this means that a man is no other than a

Burmese Pythons Changing The Everglades Essay
Pythons are invading and wiping out ecosystems. Soon your home will be invaded by these
invasive Burmese pythons. Do you really want that to happen? The presence of Burmese pythons
are changing the Everglades. They are multiplying fast in the Everglades, they are eating away at
Florida s ecosystem, and they are being released by people into the Everglades. Burmese pythons
are changing the Everglades by them multiplying by the thousands. Floridas python hunt
newspaper article states, tens of thousands of Burmese pythons are estimated to be living in the
Everglades, . Burmese pythons typically lay up to 35 eggs but can lay up to 100 eggs, and if
they produce that fast, there are going to be tons of pythons produced everyday. They can also
grow up to 23 feet, so they are definitely producing faster than they should be if there was just a
few producing. The cycle continues.
Pythons are changing the Everglades also by destroying Florida s ecosystem. A blog post by

numbers of species, . If nothing is killing off or removing these deadly snakes, they will eventually

Summary Of Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother
In Patrick Goldstein s response to Amy Chua s book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, he makes
the argument that while earning a degree or graduating summa cum laude is critical to success
for some people. Many of today s wealthiest, most innovative people either dropped out or did not
go to college. Rather, they learned through informal experience, working their way from the
absolute bottom, up to becoming universally respected millionaires and billionaires. Goldstein
analyzes Chua s definition of the word success; to be top of the class, to go to an Ivy League school,
and to get a great paying job. He compares success to show biz and Hollywood, a town built by
mostly uneducated millionaires. He challenges Chua to see a different perspective on the means of
becoming successful. Goldstein mentions Chua s discussion with former president of Harvard
UniversityLarry Summers at a past World Economic Forum in Switzerland. Summers argued that
the two Harvard students that have had the most impact on the world both dropped out of the
school (Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg). Goldstein asserts that they didn t get to the top of their
industries by book learning. Their knowledge extended beyond the classroom, learning in a way
that Chua would consider unorthodox or weak. Gates and Zuckerberg became billionaires
partially because of their ideas, but a big part of their success was their ability to network with
their peers or big companies. In another example, Goldstein recalls

Roman Catholic Faith Affected My Life
There are currently more than one billion Roman Catholic citizens on the planet right now. I
consider myself immensely fortunate to be a part of such an extensive community of people
that are together because of God. Being Catholic has opened doors for me to see the world
differently than if I wasn t Catholic. My entire life would be mismatched if I wasn t Catholic.
My faith affects many aspects of my life such as my actions and decisions. The school that I go
to, the friends that I have made, and what I do on Sunday are all affected by the fact that I
practice the Roman Catholic faith. Being Catholic has had a positive influence on how I live
my life and how I survey the world. Being Catholic has made just about every part of my life
different. The schools that I have gone to since first grade have been Catholic schools. The
friends that I have made are because I am Catholic, and I also go to church almost every Sunday.
The impact that my faith has had on my life is not comprehensible. Activities like praying to
God and asking him for help has just become second nature because of how often I do it. In a
single school day I participate in at least four different prayers. Some people look at a cross and just

burden of Christ s crucifixion. I now know that I must be a disciple of Christ so that he did not

goal is to be in unity with God in heaven. If I am not going to mass, serving others in my

The Ethics Of The Bridge
Ethics:
The bridge we have created is ethical in the sense that it has a dependable purpose relative to its
location, and its uses. By implementing a floating bridge, in a non linear terrain in the city of
Champong Chnnang it allows for effective, and efficient commute between two villages. This idea
allows for the saving of time and money, by not implementing a less efficient method of
transportation and trade between the two villages. THIS ISN T GOOD ENOUGH, LET
EDWARD ADD SHIT TO THIS TOO.
Sustainable Design:
The bridge has a very well designed sustainability concept, relying on upcycled materials to
complete the bridge. These upcycled materials consist of the wood, the fishing net, the oil barrels
and the plastic shielding for the barrels. These materials can be used for functional roles in the
design, such as platforms, floatation, safety lines across hand rails, and so on. The bridge s
sustainability concept can be further supported by the ease of replacing materials, and not
throwing them in the bin. The materials such as wood, plastic and pieces of metallic bolts and nuts
can be recycled and reused for other purposed such as furniture, storage or completely recycled
back into a molten form for the metallic objects.
Lifecycle Analysis:
Before
Wood: The wood used in the project will be locally sourced, to reserve costs of importation. The
wood will start in the surrounding rainforests of the lakes. After chopping down sufficient trees the
wood will be cut into

Meditation Reflection
Ever since I was a little girl my parents made it clear that I needed to do this or that because it
reflects what type of family I was raised into. My family is very well known in a small little town
in Northern Michigan. Anything that I did that was against my parents expectations was
corrected in private, and then expected next time we went out. My family was persistent on
being represented well. They valued things like respect. My mom grew up in a family where
they all went to a catholic church every Sunday so it is viewed as a ritual that my she always
took part in. Therefore, if she was to go to church, then I was too. From the time that I was a
baby until I was 16 I never had the choice to choose what I wanted or what I believed. So how
was I supposed to understand other religious views that people held if I wasn t able to learn about
them? The day I questioned my own religionwas the day that I became myself. I started reading. I
started learning. I started meditating. I explored the unknown natural surrounding that had never

What is meditation? Meditation is a conscious state of breathing techniques to enhance our mind,
focus on something, and create a sense of awareness of one s environment. In essence, it s like the
nervous system; interpreting signals throughout the body to relay information to the brain, and
being aware of what s going on around us. With this comes equanimity: composure and an
evenness in a difficult situation. Equanimity is something that I ve learned from meditation. As
your meditating you should feel very calm and composed, this is how we would like to feel all the
time. Unfortunately, our bodys have fight or flight responses to react quickly to the environment.
So by training our body and brain to react to situations that are out of our control as calm and
composed, it will help you make better decisions in future

The multiple species of rats can be found almost anywhere, no matter where they originated from. The hellish rats have caused many problems to all of society which is leaving people to investigate deeper about the mysterious creatures. The worldwide catastrophe of rat infestations is causing humans to consider what is the cause, how is it affecting the society, and how the crisis can be solved. These ways are most common because of how simple it is to accomplish and that it can be very effective. Another way to prevent rats is to take away what they are seeking to get, for example in source 2 it states, Dr Belmain says that, when the rats come, some people simply do not bother planting crops. They just accept that it is pointless. The quote is showing how farmers and citizens are lowering the usage of food by not producing it. By using this method, it causes there to be no food for the rats to come after. • 3. Nazi Propaganda Was A Well Know Thing During The Holocaust Nazi Propaganda was a well know thing during the holocaust. Hitler and Joseph Goebbels were the ring leaders. Hitler became the German chancellor, and in March of that year he appointed Goebbels the country s minister for public enlightenment and propaganda. Goebbels had complete jurisdiction over the content of German newspapers, magazines, books, music, films, stage plays, radio programs and fine arts. His mission was to censor all opposition to Hitler and present the chancellor and the Nazi Party in the most positive light while stirring up hatred for Jewish people. Hitler was a well supported person. Many Germans supported him for many reasons. The purpose of propaganda was to condition and convince people, and get them to believe in the values and ideas of the Nazis. Propaganda is well known for war posters. It is a mode of communication aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. Propaganda was used by the Nazi party in the years leading up to and during Adolf Hitler s leadership of Germany. Propaganda was a crucial instrument for acquiring and maintaining power. The Nazis used propaganda to increase their support and appeal. They spent huge sums of money on newspapers, leaflets and poster campaigns with simple slogans encouraging people to support the party. The military style of the Nazis involved using large political rallies to gain support. These were vast, highly organized events with banners and marching bands. The rallies ... • 4. The, Illusions, Visions And The Irrational All Stem From... Dreamscapes, illusions, visions and the irrational all stem from the basis of Surrealism. It was an art movement that started in Paris in 1924, creating a wide interest towards tapping into the psychoanalytic, the unconscious and the use of chance. By unlocking the power of the imagination, artists such as Salvador Dali (1904 1989) and Max Ernst (1891 1976), felt that they could reach a new level of meaning and dimension. Both of these artists have respectively left a mark on the Surrealist movement through their use of painting and collage. Dali s painting The Persistence of Memory (1931), creates unfamiliar contexts with the use of illusions and realism. Ernst s Surrealistic novel Une Semaine de Bonte (1934), is a purely graphic collage novel stemming from the influences of alchemy and metamorphosis. Surrealist aesthetics were a vital part of the movement and the artists themselves strongly lived by them. The founder of Surrealism was AndrГ© Breton; a French writer and poet. He was the author of the two Surrealist manifestos, one in 1924 and the other in 1930. Breton believed that true Surrealists had no talent; they were just able to speak their thoughts as it happened, and they were able to access their unconscious mind to overcome rationality and reason. Surrealist theory was largely influenced by Sigmund Freud. Freud s work The Interpretation of Dreams (1900) insisted that a dream can be used in dealing with pathological symptoms by interpreting the various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cognitive, Social And Psychological Determinants Of Emotional Cognitive, Social and Psychological Determinants of Emotional State A Study That Test the Two Factor Theory of Emotion Lamin Williams Riverwood International High School Introduction The name of this article is called, Cognitive, Social and Psychological Determinants of Emotional State. In 1962, Schachter and Singer put their two factor theory of emotion to the test. Schachter and Singer believed that physical arousal played a huge role in emotions. They came up with one of the earliest cognitive theories of emotion. In the experiment, they provide three main hypotheses, which were derived from the aim of the study. The first one asks, if a person experiences a state of arousal for which they have no immediate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was an experiment with many manipulated variables. There were two independent variables are the information given to the subjects about the injection they were given and the situation they had to experience. The Dependent variable is the emotional arousals of the participant. From the results, the epinephrine had the desired effect of raising heart rate and subject ratings of tremors and palpitations. Also, the misinformed people didn t experience any sympathetic symptoms of headaches or itchiness. In the euphoria condition, it was clear that the subjects were drawn more to the stooge s mood and consequently more euphoric when they had no explanation of their own body s state. Based on behavior observations they found the same results. In the anger condition, the self report data was suspicious because the students didn t want to express anger to the experimenter about participating in the test. But based on behavior scores, people who were ignorant were a lot angrier than the informed and placebo. From the results, it shows that people will assign an emotion to a physiological change based on the available emotions in the social situation. Analysis In this experiment, Schachter and Singer were able to manipulate the amount of control they had. An example of this is how they were able to assign different participants to the different conditions. They were able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Invicta Soil Patterns Introduction The accidental introduction of the red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta Buren (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Myrmicinae) to Alabama between 1933 and 1945 led to the eventual invasion of all of the southeastern US. Once established, the species quickly developed a reputation for both its sting and its ability to rapidly invade new habitats. As S. invicta expanded its range out of urban centers and into various other habitats, concerns arose about the ability of the species to invade pristine systems and displace native ant species. Yet, research has found that S. invicta is less of a superior competitor and more of an opportunistic, disturbance specialist. For example, a study in southeast Texas by LeBrun et al. By 2002 a study by Forys et al. found high densities primarily concentrated along roadways and in edge habitats in every Key. Furthermore, undisturbed sites were more likely to be occupied if they were within 50m of a road and within 150m of high densities of urban development. This indicates that the conditions within these sites of localized disturbance allow for persistence and eventual dispersal into undisturbed sites (Forys et al. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Act Of The Indian Tribes Of This Province The Act to encourage the Gradual Civilization of the Indian Tribes of this Province, and to amend the Laws respecting Indians was an Act with the goal of placing indigenous people at the same level as British North American citizens. In essence, indigenous people would have the same or similar legal rights such that all distinctions would be removed between them and British North Americans. Furthermore, this Act was supposed to grant and help indigenous people gain rights with respect to property ownership. This Act had fifteen regulations that were applicable only to indigenous people who decided on becoming enfranchised Indians and hence, British subjects. In becoming a British subject, these individuals would lose their First Nations status. Therefore, while this Act may appear to help Indigenous people, its ultimate goal was to create new subjects for the crown and hence, remove Frist Nation s status. Examples of the type of regulations established in this Act are as followed: 1) The act shall apply only to individuals who are Indians, or have Indian blood, or are intermarried with Indians. Therefore, these individuals must be part of an Indian Tribe which resides on some land that is their own and was never surrendered to the Crown. Furthermore, it is only these particular individuals who are entitled to the regulations of this Act and of other Acts. 2) A commissioner will be appointed such that they are in charge of examining the Indians who want to ... A critical factor for biblical interpretation is context and nowhere is this point truer than Romans 13: 1 7. The common interpretation of Romans 13 is obedience to governing authorities; however, there are exceptions to rules, both legally and scripturally. There are times when God s law supersedes man s law. Theologian, Bob Deffinbaugh states that, Even when one cannot obey, they can still demonstrate a submissive spirit; ergo, this submissive spirit should never be set aside when it comes to those in authority. Robert L. Deffinbaugh, The Christian and Civil Government Romans 13: 1 7 В¶13, (18 August 2004). One illustration of obeying God s law over men while demonstrating a submissive spirit is in the case of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego In the Book of Daniel 3. These three wise Jewish boys had found favor in the eyes of Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzer and were placed as high appointed officials in Babylon. Annexation of the Philippines Created the American Empire The history of the world is one filled with war, brutality, and greed from nations exerting their might to gain power or land. Driven by greed, history is written by the wants and desires of nations to become larger, wealthier, at the expense of those smaller forms a never ending cycle from the time of the earliest writings, to modern days. The United Statesis no different. From the time we occupied the east coast, driving the Native Americans west, to our westward expansion, further driving the Native Americans and Mexico out of their lands, we have never been satisfied. Once we reached the west coast, our eyes began scanning across the oceans. With the country secure, the United States needed foreign lands to establish the empire. The Philippines would provide this opportunity for us. The Spanish American war delivered the opportunity for America s entry into the Philippines. The annexation of the Philippines transformed the United States into an empire and better prepared the Filipino people for independence. Snapshot of the Philippines To justify the case for the annexation of the Philippines, we must first look at a snapshot of the Philippine archipelago to understand the advantages the islands provided the United States. While traveling he viewed the massacre of St. Bartholomew s Day, an extremely gory group of assassinations that resulted in many deaths, resulting in the reinforcement of his protestant beliefs. After returning from his adventures through Frankfurt, Vienna, Paris and Venice, he was recalled to court by the Queen. He joined court upon his homecoming in 1575, and later became known as one of the ideal gentlemen of the time period, his chivalrous manner and personality that of the perfect courtier. He was a great favorite and became greatly respected in his position. In 1576 Sidney succeeded his father as cupbearer to Queen Elizabeth, which was a purely ceremonial duty, and a year later the Queen gave him a diplomatic mission of traveling to the German Emperor and the Prince of Orange to present Elizabeth s condolences on the death of their fathers. He was to find out if they would be open to the formation of a Protestant alliance against Catholic Spain. • 19. Lady With Lapdog By Anton Chekhov Bad Romance As Haddaway once said, what is love? Baby, don t hurt me, don t hurt me no more. Everyone has a different perspective of what love really is. People can fall in love or believe they are in love because of physical attraction. Some may believe that lust can become into something more. In the short story, Lady with Lapdog by Anton Chekhov translated by David Magarshack, the main protagonist Gurov is married with a twelve year old daughter and two sons. He is not extremely happy with his family life so he likes to have small affairs to get away from it. As the plot develops he meets a girl named Anna, who he falls head over heels for, making the womanizer, fall in love. Even though what the did is immoral, it can be a good thing for the pair. They may have gotten out a situation that was not making them happy. Love can control the way people dictate their lives. Is it for the good of the people? Is it just some emotion that causes mischief? As seen in Lady with Lapdog, love is a powerful emotion that can alter people s motives as well as can change other s lives in an instant. Although love is about sacrifice for the significant other, it can also a very selfish emotion. During the story the when Gurov and Anna are in their affair she starts to complain and he, could not help feeling bored as he listened to her...she buried her face on his chest and clung close to him, (Chekhov 269), showing that he is not willing to listen to her when ... Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas Essay Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas The dominant political figure of German history in the twentieth century, Adolf Hitler, was born in a lower middle class family in the provincial Austrian town of Braunau am Inn on 20 April 1889. In 1907 Hitler applied to enter the Vienna Academy of Art but his application was rejected. After the death of his mother Klara, Hitler decided to move to Vienna. He drifted from job to job, often selling sketches or painting scenes of Old Vienna and it was a period that he himself later called the most miserable period of his life. The competing style is used when people trying to achieve a goal or accomplish something. It is used during arguments, such as when you are arguing against somebody else to prove a point. The avoiding style is used when a person shows little interest in the other party they are communicating with. This is used when often when interacting with a person you identify as an unimportant stranger, such as when you bump into a stranger in a crowd and apologize. The compromising style is used when a person cares about who they are interacting with and care about their objectives / goals. An example of this would be scheduling with a friend over when to meet up to do something since you care about their opinion and are willing to try to compromise. The accommodating stance is used when you care more about the other party s goals more than your own (in many cases). An example of this would be if your boss asked you to work overtime and even though you didn t want to you agreed to do it. The collaborating stance is used when both parties plan to accomplish their goals fully (unlike compromising where the goals cannot be fully met) and to improve the relationship between them. The second Spider Man movie had just as much patriotism as the first, but it was used in a much more subtle way. Spiderman was no longer the faceless leader of the people against evil, but he was a representative of the American troops and how human they really are. Spiderman was no longer invincible in this movie, and although he won in the end, he took a lot more damage than he did in the first movie. The Tories Research Paper The Tories were compiled disgruntled young Irishmen whose ancient hatred for the English coupled with the spectacle of defeat, despair and degradation was sufficient reason to continue resistance . They were led by dispossessed noblemen and Irish officers. They mostly attacked livestock but were not against killing an Englishman once in a while. The English s punishment for Tories was strict and after a band of Tories killed two Protestants in Lackagh, 4 Irishmen were hanged for not preventing the murder and others, including 2 priests and an 80 year old woman were sent to Barbados. Since the Irish usually just took livestock though, the English would just tax the town closest to where the livestock was taken. Frequently, the town could not pay this and this would cause the government to tax the surrounding areas. However, in the class when I read it before the instructor refused to entertain a feminist criticism. The theory presented was that Edna knew what kind of man she was marrying and all these things she went through: her friendship with Madame Reisz leaving the house, entertaining her friends at the party, her situation with Robert and Arobin were all selfish efforts toward the ultimate freedom which is death. • 47. Plato Totalitarianism Analysis Plato s Republic doesn t shy from heavily totalitarian associated values: censorship, noble lies, and elite rule to name a few. Scholars and political theorists alike have been quick to criticize him for these politics, claiming The Republic to be a blueprint for these especially conservative views. However, it can just as well be argued that those who insist that Plato s work be in support of totalitarianismdon t fully grasp many of the concepts Socrates lays out in defense of democracy. In these contrasting interpretations, Plato can be pulled both ways. Still, it would be easier to find a sort of compromise in interpreting The Republic; although it is that Plato lays out his ideas much in favor of a totalitarian regime, he just as well articulates his arguments in a contrastingly democratic way. How he portrays his ideas depends on the well being of the people; even if through totalitarian means, Plato s focus in governing is on the governed as opposed to those governing. On Plato s references to the utilitarian value of censorship, the totalitarian undertones in keeping a people at bay are hard to overlook. The Republic blatantly suggests the necessity of censoring information from the people in order to control their access to information. Socrates argues that ...early life is very impressible, and children ought not to learn what they will have to unlearn when they grow up; we must therefore have a censorship of nursery tales, banishing some and keeping others ... One theme that I noted to be consistent was that of helplessness. The Joads, as well as many other characters for that matter, seemed to have little control over most of the events that occurred in the book. Helplessness seems to be common, not only in Steinbeck s book, but in life too. • 56. Summary Of Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother In Patrick Goldstein s response to Amy Chua s book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, he makes the argument that while earning a degree or graduating summa cum laude is critical to success for some people. Many of today s wealthiest, most innovative people either dropped out or did not go to college. Rather, they learned through informal experience, working their way from the absolute bottom, up to becoming universally respected millionaires and billionaires. Goldstein analyzes Chua s definition of the word success; to be top of the class, to go to an Ivy League school, and to get a great paying job. He compares success to show biz and Hollywood, a town built by mostly uneducated millionaires. He challenges Chua to see a different perspective on the means of becoming successful. Goldstein mentions Chua s discussion with former president of Harvard UniversityLarry Summers at a past World Economic Forum in Switzerland. Summers argued that the two Harvard students that have had the most impact on the world both dropped out of the school (Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg). Goldstein asserts that they didn t get to the top of their industries by book learning. Their knowledge extended beyond the classroom, learning in a way that Chua would consider unorthodox or weak. Gates and Zuckerberg became billionaires partially because of their ideas, but a big part of their success was their ability to network with their peers or big companies. This idea allows for the saving of time and money, by not implementing a less efficient method of transportation and trade between the two villages. THIS ISN T GOOD ENOUGH, LET EDWARD ADD SHIT TO THIS TOO. Sustainable Design: The bridge has a very well designed sustainability concept, relying on upcycled materials to complete the bridge. These upcycled materials consist of the wood, the fishing net, the oil barrels and the plastic shielding for the barrels. These materials can be used for functional roles in the design, such as platforms, floatation, safety lines across hand rails, and so on.
