are apart of the pop art era. The artists use a combination of bright colors and patterns on their
work creating the famous look of pop art. Both of the artists had to wait until later in their life to
become successful. Roy Lichtenstein was originally an art professor and Andy Warholwas a
commercial illustrator. Although, there are more differences between the artists rather than
similarities.
Lichtenstein was known for his famous use of onomatopoeias in his comic strips. In his art you

Abominoplasty Research Papers
Abdominoplasty ( Tummy Tuck ) Overview Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as the tummy
tuck, appeals to patients who want to flatten and shape the abdomen and waist by removing excess
fat and skin and tightening muscles. For individuals who are looking to improve the appearance of
their abdomen and waist, Abdominoplasty ( Tummy Tuck ) is often recommended.
Abdominoplasty is completed by removing excess fat and tightening the muscles in the abdomen
area. Most often, individuals who seek a tummy tuck procedure have excess skin and pockets of fat
they could not remove through diet and exercise. Additionally, women who seek abdominoplasty
have muscles that have separated from the abdomen and skin that have extended due to multiple
pregnancies. YOU CONSULTATION Like all successful surgeries, a tummy tuck requires an

Essay on Happiness and Drought
It is interesting to think about why our ancestors decided to include the pursuit of happiness as
an American s unalienable right, as opposed to the previously considered, right to land. To live a
life without happiness, it seemed to them, is to live a life without meaning. Edgar Lee Masters
poems commonly reflect on the quality, or lack thereof, of happiness in the afterlife of dead
countrymen (and women). The diction, word choice and imagery in Fiddler Jones by Masters
expresses the seemingly inherent joy of a lackadaisical man as well as the value of perspectives
and the ability to posit happiness over fortune and land.
As many of Master s poems in his Spoon River Anthology, the title Fiddler Jones refers to a man
who is not only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the poem begins by talking generally about the fundamental process of life, lines 3 and 4
bring an individual to the stage in which the poem is set forth. This is done by introducing the art
of fiddle playing and the skill that such a feat requires. A skill is a tenet that sets apart an
individual from a general crowd. It is something that one may seek pleasure from and it is here that
the speaker of the poem creates this separation the individual.
And if the people find you can fiddle,
Why, fiddle you must, for all your life. (ll. 3 4)
At this point we are being advised by the speaker that if we have a skill we must use it for the
rest of our lives. But it also says that if people find you can fiddle, which suggests a communal
aspect. This skill that sets one apart also makes them a part of a community that cherishes the
skill which one has acquired. This further contributes to the meaning on the poem because this is
the point in which we are given insight into the speaker s philosophy. This belief being that if
one is good at something it should fully encompass their being for the duration of one s life, thus
rendering it a passion that becomes as a part of living as breathing itself. This leads into the next
lines where we are now required to consider value as a component in distinguishing divergent
perspectives. The point in which perspectives diverge happens in lines 4 and 5, where Master s
imagery is employed to depict the scene of a

First Cars Ltd
First Cars plc Critical path analysis is a method that is used to plan out the many activities
involved in a project to be able to find the most efficient way of complete it and how to complete
it on time. From a research and development point of view, the decision to go ahead with this
project relies solely on the critical path analysis provided by Amy Jones. In light of this, the
operations director is rightly concerned about how valuable the data provided by the critical path
analysis is. The arguments for and against seem to be balanced. Therefore, I present the most
significant argument of how valuable a critical path analysis which is how Amy s data allows the

Which could mean they do not reach their important deadline of August 2010 which could
possibly mean that they have thrown the whole project down the drain; this is because it is
extremely important for the business that they reach the deadline if they want to become a
strong competitor in the given market. Not only could the project be in jeopardy but the whole
of the business if any of the deadlines aren t met because it would put them in a poor state
regarding their cash flow. All in all, even though the argument seems to be relevantly balanced I
believe there is a lot to loss on this project, a considerably amount more than what is at stake to
be gained. The project is so unsafe for a business which is already struggling to survive. I think
that First Car plc needs to hold fire and invest in a project which will guarantee to bring in profits
and cash quickly rather than one that is extremely risky with no previous data to compare it on

expensive city centres with staff having nothing to do, I suspect it could be a seasonal business in

1952 in Brooklyn, New York. She began learning about music at an early age and she began
singing with a trio girl group at the age of twelve. The group was called The Young Generation.
By the time she had graduated high school, she and her band had already released two singles
both produced by Richard Perry. Janis Siegel says, At that time, I was exclusively listening to pop
and folk music. When Motown became popular, I fell head over heels for it [ ]. In high school and
college though, she said John Coltrane was her musical idol for jazz. After the bandThe Young
Generation had graduated high school, they transitioned to becoming an acoustic folk type of
band. They then renamed themselves as Laurel Sanyon. Then as Janis Siegel attended college for
a couple of years, she studied nursing. But she quit and decided to keep all her attention on the

Anger Management and Health Essay
Anger Management and Health
Everybody feels anger from time to time. People have been documented feeling anger since
biblical times when God was considered angry. Babies even exhibit signs that are interpreted as
anger, such as crying or screaming. Anger is not in any way unique to people. Animals also have
the ability to feel and express anger.
In our personal lives we get angry over at least one thing on almost a daily basis, whether it be on
the job, with a spouse or loved one, or perhaps with a figure of authority. Many psychologists have
written about anger, discussing the relationship between anger and fear. Each of the individuals that
comprise humanity possesses at least one phobia, in the same way that each

The authors of When Anger Hurts: Anger in Modern
Life explain the complications that chronic anger can create. Doctors have long suspected that
anger increases the blood rate. Many scientists now point out that norepinepherine, the drug that is
secreted during anger, increases blood pressure as well. Anger and abnormally high blood pressure
are correlated; and high blood pressure leads to many forms of heart disease. In a recent study
1,623 patients were interviewed an average of four days after they had suffered a heart attack
following an outburst of anger. The study showed that the risk of suffering a heart attack is
doubled after an outburst of anger. (3) The psychologist Franz Alexander s hypothesized in 1839
that hypertesnisves lack basic assertive skills. Psychological studies have repeatedly backed
Alexander s assertion theory ever since. (4)
High blood pressure is said to be caused by uncontrolled anger, which in turn is caused by a lack
of assertion. If we bottle up our anger now, then we will feel it later. Eventually our arteries will
grow weak and we will remain tense, living daily with treacherous moods and health. The
alternative is to shout out our anger at the world and let it manifest itself any way that it pleases.
Of course, taking our anger out at the world can have even more deleterious effects. People just
don t like it when we demonstrate our anger.
Many of us are taught at an early age to bury our anger

The Significance Of The Play It CanT Happen Here By...
The title of the play is It Can t Happen Here. The playwright of the play is Sinclair Lewis. The
production company was Foothill College Theatre Arts Department. The director was Bruce
McLeod. I watch the play on November 18 at Foothill College. It Can t Happen Here follows a
middle aged journalist with his and his family s struggles with a new political government. A
new popular candidate is running for president. This new candidate is making outrageous claims
to make America go back to its right glory. Because of this false hope people believe in him and
elect him and then all hell breaks loose. This play is a dark parody of democracy and freedom.
The design of the stage was gorgeous. It looked like it was ripped out of a late 30s or 40s movie.
Everyone wear clothing from that time period. Everyone was wearing clean cut clothes, dresses,
suits, and ties. I believe that there was a time skip in the play which the actors changed their
clothes to a more modern look. The always use more technology after the time skip. They use
laptops which showed there was some time passed. The lighting was very well done. When a
character was talking in their head or by themselves they would a single light showed on them
while all the other lights were off. If there was an important scene they would turn down the lights
to show the significance. The music that they played was from the 1930s and the 1940s. The
songs had a jazzy and blues kind of feel to it. All of this made it possible

Londinium Essay
Around 50 AD, the Romans built and constructed one of the most economically successful and
diverse cities in the world today, known to us as modern day London. In the course of its
construction and rule under the Roman Empire, the city was known as Londinium. The Romans
controlled London from around 50 410 AD, a period as long as that which separates Queen
Elizabeth I from our present Queen , during which Londinium was one of the largest trading ports
in the world. (Museum of London; 2012) Roman Londinium overcame many obstacles in terms of
invasions and battles, but the city reestablished itself numerous times in order to advance and
modernize throughout the years. After being rebuilt around 70 AD due to an invasion, Londinium
replaced Colchester as the capitol of Roman Britain because of the quick expansion and economic
prosper the city was able to produce. (p. 21; London: A Social History, Porter, R. 1994) Although
the city was subject to numerous unfortunate events, it quickly became the largest and most
industrious city in Britannia.
There has been controversy as to who originated the term Londinium . In 54 BC, Julius Caesar

Lonesome Dove Analysis
Lonesome Dove is a story in the western genre written by Larry McMurty. The book was
published in 1985 and was the п¬Ѓrst book of a tetralogy, but third in chronology. The book is
about a strenuous cattle drive from Texas to Montana. Lonesome Dove was a wholesome and
interesting book that engages your curiosity from the beginning to the end. In the beginning of the
story they are in a small south Texas town called lonesome Dove, where the two main characters
Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call had settled down and started a livery stable after being
famous Texas rangers. The journey starts off after Jake Spoon rides into town talking about
Montana and the untapped potential. That is what sets them off on their journey driving cattle from
Texas to Montana. As their journey began they had many dilemmas, but I would say their п¬Ѓrst
dilemma was the death of Sean O Brien a young Irish man found with his brother Allen O Brien
when they collected the cattle for the drive. That part of the story was the п¬Ѓrst major event of the
story driving fear in many of the crew. As the drive went north, so did Jake spoon, who brought
along a woman by the name of Lorena Wood. Lorena is a major character in the story as she is a
love interest of both Augustus McCrae, Jake Spoon ,and desired by many. The story had an
interesting offshoot that involved a sheriff from fort smith, Arkansas by the name of July Johnson.
This story begins with Jake Spoon who was in fort smith gambling when he got into a

Examples Of Confucianism In The True Story Of Ah Q
The late nineteenth century to the early twentieth was an important period for China, in which a
large number of reformers and revolutionaries, in the hope of changing the old China, struggled to
make China powerful and stable. The voice of abandoning Confucianism grew stronger and
stronger, which they contended that it was Confucian that hindered the development of Chinese.
Just take Lu Xunfor example. He argued that Confucianism was the man eating manners , which
gave birth to those who just cared about themselves without any conscience of protecting their
family. Moreover, Lu Xun put forward that Chinashould learn from the Western. Another example

The prominent character of him was self deceiving and self important, which exactly reflected the
farmer s ideas at that time. He was not only the symbol of the poor proletarian but also a farmer
suppressed by authority. In addition, he did not have a name at all, and the only name he got was
deprived by Mr. Zhao.
The method that Ah Q most often used was spirit victory. That was kind of expression of self
deceiving. For example, when he was beaten, he comforted himself by using Son hit his father .
Moreover, while other people teased him that he was poor, he argued that my ancestors were richer
than yours. His characters, in essence, were devoid of self awareness. He judged people with his
own standard, where anything that not conform to his standard would be wrong.
From this novel, Lu Xun seriously criticized the social reality at that time when people were self
deceiving, who always took themselves as the center of the world. The attitude of Lu Xun toward
farmers was that on the one hand, he felt sympathetic to them. On the other hand, he hated that they
did not fight for themselves. With his sharp pen, he analyzed the reason why the farmers always lag
behind others, while showing sympathy to them. Meanwhile, he tempted to use his novel to warn
Chinese reformers, although May Fourth movement awakened a part of Chinese people like
students, most Chinese peasants were still ignorant and

John Edgar Hoover Contributions
Largely due to John Edgar Hoover s contribution, the Federal Bureau of Investigation today is
acknowledged for its organized crime fighting force. As the first director of the FBI, Hoover s
guidance was vital in shaping the Bureau s image as he integrated technology with modern
crime solving techniques and emphasized the use of surveillance to follow suspected criminals.
Many believe Hoover s greatest accomplishment was becoming the first director of the FBI;
however, his most significant feat is how he molded the FBI into an effective organization that
during Hoover s lifetime operated without the supervision of the branches of government.
Hoover was born and raised in Washington D.C and had a relatively normal childhood. Hoover
was born on January 1, 1895, and raised by Dickerson Hoover and Annie Hoover (Biography).
Being raised in Washington D.C played a significant role in Hoover s life as his parents worked
for the government and were exposed to politics at a young age. Being raised close to the nation
s capital influenced Hoover to major in law as he saw the opportunities that were available for
elected officials. It is possible that if Hoover did not major in law, he would not have pursued
politics thus, never becoming the first director of the FBI. Hoover eventually joined the training
corps program and continued to refute social norms. More specifically, Hoover joined the Reserve
Officers Training Corps and was vocal in supporting women s rights (Biography). This is
important as joining the Officers Training Corps allowed him to develop leadership abilities that he
would eventually apply when leading the FBI. HooverВґs willingness to change a precedent will be
vital to forming the FBI as Hoover applied new methods on a large scale which made people
question his reliability as the first director. Hoover chose to study law in order to be able to enter
politics. More specifically, In 1916, he gained his Bachelor degree in Law...Following year, he
attained a Master s degree in Law from the University. (Biography) HooverВґs law degree enabled
him to join the Department of Justice and was assigned to the War Emergency Board. HooverВґs
accomplishments eventually lead to him working under Mitchell

Theme Of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams, in which the theme is ultimately about the lies,
greed, and desires driving people to act. There is also a topic of the female characters being cats,
who are projected to be greedy women trying to compete to take the wealth of Big Daddy. The
play is about Maggie and her declining marriage to Brick and his tragic past of his homosexual
connection Skipper had to brick. Throughout the play Big Daddy and Maggie try to make Brick
recall his memories of Skipper and their relationship. Mendacity is Brick s explanation to show
why he is a drunk and everyone s lies. Another play The Importance of being Earnest by Oscar
Wilde is categorized as a comedyof manners, as there is a lot satire. The play goes as following,
two people under the name Algernon Moncrieff and John Jack Worthing using the name Ernest to
try and marry girls. The girls, Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew, are attracted to their names
being Ernest only. Algernon and John are eventually caught for their lies, but are forgiven because
they arranged for their names to be legally changed to Ernest.
There is a common themes throughout the play s theme in that there is lies being told and
women driving the story in each play. Brick is disgusted with the lies or mendacity as he puts it
the family is using, and their family lying to Big Daddy and Big Mama. When Big Mama is
eventually told the truth she breaks down and talks about how she needs Brick. Big Mama in

Although the sacrifice of twenty five women were needed, one could ponder what smell would
this perfume even resemble? This the burning question that forces the reader to hope it is solved
by the end of the novel. Essentially, Suskind was able to create a murderer that is the opposite of
the norm. Typically, the killer is a ravenous entity that kills only to kill. Timeless horror movies
and stories that spark the fear inside of humanity are those beings who seem realistic and kill
with no real motive. For instance, Michael Myers, the infamous killer from the Halloween
series, terrorizes for no reason. He does not talk, he does not show empathy in his killings nor
does he care for who he kills. He stalks his prey and proceeds to murder them in some of the
most brutal ways imaginable. Grenouille, with his lack of scent, is able to do the same, but only
in the bounds of his goals. He does not brutal kill the individuals, simply he hits them over the
head with a club. The act seems similar to a person putting a dog to sleep in the most humane way
possible. These heavy blows he dealt to the back of each victims head showed his understanding
that his actions were wrong, but the only means by which he could extract their scent. Other
murderers force their victims to suffer, killing people in gruesome

Analyse the Commodity Attractions of the Element Nickel Essay
Nickel
Introduction
The intension of the paper is to analyse the commodity attractions of the element nickel. It is
highly related to physical and chemical properties of the element because any commercial usage
of this element is based on its property. Also, nickel is extracted from ore, so the ore deposit of it
will be highly related to the capital of any nickel related business. The laterite nickel ore deposit,
Greenvale located in Queensland be focused on to reveal the genesis and other attributes of this
type of nickel deposit. Based on these information a conclusion of the current market status of
nickel can be portrayed.

(Keim 1990). Nickel is widely used in industries.
Ore deposit condition Most of nickel is extracted from laterite nickel ores, which consist 60%
70% of nickel on earth. This kind of ore is formed by the chemical weathering of serpentinite and
other igneous rocks. Because of this requirement of weathering, deposits are located mostly in a
humid tropical environment (Figure 1). (Butt Cluzel 2013) The major end product of this
weathering process will be: hematite, nickeliferous limonitic ore ((Fe,Ni)O(OH).nH2O) and
nickeliferous silicate ore ((Ni,Mg)6Si4O10(OH)8). Nickeliferous limonitic ore and nickeliferous
silicate ore are the two dominant types of nickel ore. (Pickles 2003) uplifted oxide rich regoliths
form nickeliferous limonitic ore and nickel goes downward to saprolite and combine with
silicates to form nickeliferous silicate ore. The silicate ore deposits at a greater depth than the
limonitic ore. Nickeliferous limonitic ores are mostly weathered product of goethites. (Butt
Cluzel 2013) For both ores nickel content of each will be around 1.5%. Nickel in the silicate ore
will be more than 1.5%. (Pickles 2003) Since laterite nickel ores are from the weathering of pre
existing rock, the composition of surrounding rocks, topography and climate are important factors.
Usually laterite nickel ores will form on olivine rich ultramafic rocks. These rocks are the basic
building blocks of nickel ores.

Dramatic Elements In Aunt Raini
In this theatrical production Aunt Raini, directed by the playwright Tom Smith and produced by
Pacific Lutheran University, has successfully perform theatrical elements within different
perspective of the performance, while the performance has connected and integrated the content
based from the script stories. For instance, from a stageproduction perspective, the constructing
style of the scenes, walls, flats or hand props and the accurate placement of stage properties on
stage has specified the background story setting while different style of composing, designing and
painting of the scenery represent the amount of efforts and works that whole crew had put in during
the process of theater production.
The story of the theatrical performance Aunt Raini was inspired by Leni Riefenstahl, a world
renowned filmmaker who creates the documentary Triumph of the Willof the Reich Party Congress
1934 in Nuremberg. Sadly, most of Riefenstahl s works after this documentary are reference as
pieces of propaganda for the Nazi Party, which led to her to be misunderstood and isolated within
the art and film communities throughout her lifetime. In this performance, Leni Riefenstahl, also
reference as the protagonist character of Aunt Raini , has come to New York City to visit her
grandniece Katherine. On the other hand, Katherine, known as The Great Revealer for her ability
to find the best up and coming artists on the Time magazine, is a successful art gallery owner.

Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, And Traditional Psychodynamic...
Psychodynamic Theories
What is traditional psychodynamic theory? Who and where did it come? How did contemporary
psychodynamic theory develop and expand upon those ideas? Who were the key players?
Theories
The traditional psychodynamic theories of personality were introduced to us through Sigmund Freud
, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder. From there many other great minds were able to build upon the
framework of the ideas of those who had gone before them. Most notably was Melanie Klein, Karen
Horney, Eric Fromm, and Erik Erikson. Traditional psychodynamic theorists focused more on the
unconscious and how it relates to personality, whereas contemporary psychodynamic theorist
focused more on how the individual develops their personality.
Traditional Theories The traditional psychodynamic theories put great emphases on the importance
of the unconscious mind and believed that personality traits were something people are born. The
consensus being that the traits everyone expressed as being inherent and coming from within.
There was not a huge amount of focus on how the outside world may have contributed to an
individual s personality. Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Alder believed that what occurred
in the unconscious mind had a significant impact on what went on in the conscious mind. The main
propositions and components of Sigmund Freud s psychoanalysis theory are that an adult s
personality is largely determined by their experiences during childhood and that people are

Worship As A Form Of Worship In The Church
Church bells ring, it is time for Sunday School. Children and teenagers sit in classrooms scattered
throughout a church, Grace Church of the Nazarene. Bibles are either on the tables or in the
children and teenagers laps as they begin class. The Sunday School teacher, Bible in hand, begins
the class and starts out asking, How do you define worship? The children and teens begin to stare
at each other or look down at their hands in silence as the teacher waits for them to ponder the
question more. After a few minutes a brave soul raises his hand, slowly but surely. The teacher,
relieved the silence is about to be broken, calls upon him. The child responds with, Is it when we
sing in big church? The teacher, smiling largely, informs the child that singing in big church is part
of worship, but is not the only form of worship.
Today children and teenagers are asked the question above a lot in church and typically answer
the same way the child did. Although that may be the main answer they give that is only a
portion of what worship is. Worship is the act of honoring God. Whether it is through singing in
big church or doing chores at home, if one is honoring God it is worship. Merriam Webster
defines worship as a form of religious practice with its creed and ritual, and extravagant respect or
admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem. Putting both definitions of worship together it
would be defined as honoring an object God in this case and being devoted to

Nascar was first invented February 21, 1948. In June 19, 1948, was the first nascar race ever. They

So do you still think nascar is dangerous? Yes it has its dangerous moments but safety has came a

The analysis needs to be consistent as it relies on being accurate to complete the analysis as if it

construction of the complex.
If the analysis does not have good documentation the project will fail as there will be no

This means that as important as costing is, it ensures that the company can make a profit from the

Current Research On Dental Implants
Raminderjeet Kaur Prof. Cheng BIOE 324 4/30/15 Current Research in Dental Implants Medicine
and technology have been evolving for centuries. New practices, drugs, and therapies are
constantly emerging to better adapt to the needs of the new era. One such development is the
widespread use of dental implants. Gone are the days where civilizations would carve shells and
implant them into the mandible. Dental implants have evolved from using allograft and xenograft
to using ceramic material for osseointegration. [15] While ceramics provide superior
osseointegration properties, new research is being conducted to improve the surface properties of
implant materials to reduce the recovery time after implantation. [12] Coelho et al consider this...

[12] [14] To satisfy these ambitions, the authors speculated that alterations in both surgical and

outcomes. They suspected that implant design may have been rationalization driven by implant
therapy protocol alteration toward diminishing the period allowed for bone healing after implant
placement instead of being based on well designed in vitro, laboratory in vivo and clinical research
results. [12] Limitations in previous designs have rarely been investigated, but surface
modifications have been extensively in an attempt to increase the rate of bone healing and thereby
allowing the early loading of dental implants. [14] The article claims there to be a lack of
hierarchical approach that has led to difficulties in isolating the topographic and chemical
parameters that provide the optimum bone healing around the dental implants. [12] It further
recognized literature inconsistencies in respect to the mechanistic effect of surface modifications in
short term and long term loading of implants. It calls for more accurate clinical studies to be
performed that consider different implant surfaces. The authors further put clinicians in charge of
interpreting in vitro, laboratory in vivo, and clinical study data for the effectiveness of new and
improved materials. [12] Despite a well formed and compelling argument, the authors fail to provide

Comparing Grendel And Beowulf
After reading the classic Anglo Saxon tale, Beowulf, readers find themselves engrossed in the
character of Grendel. This interest led to John Gardner s creation of Grendel, a novel that tells
Grendel s side of the story and gives readers a deeper understanding of the character s personality
and morals. While the two stories use the same characters, they are still extremely different.
Beowulfs predictable narrative and basic language make the story very easy to comprehend, while
Grendelis filled with complex phrasing and intricate characters that require intense analyzation to
decipher. The analyzation required to truly understand Grendel displays the varying audiences the
stories were written for. Grendel and Beowulf also use completely different... Show more content on

The theme coming of age is included in both compositions. Throughout Grendel, Grendel
struggles to come to terms with who he is and frequently straddles the border between adulthood
and childhood. For example, after getting stuck in a tree, Grendel cries out for his mother and
then moments later contemplates the meaning of life: The king snatched an ax from the man
beside him and, without any warning, he hurled it at me... I bellowed for my mother...I tried to
tell her that happened, all that I d come to understand: the meaningless objectiveness of the
world... (Gardner 27 28). This bouncing back and forth between a child s mindset and an adult s
shows Grendel s gradual coming of age. Beowulf s main character, Beowulf, is forced to endure
many quests that challenge him not only physically, but mentally forcing him to come of age as
well. Beowulf has to question many of the things he thought he knew, resulting in him growing
wiser, much like Grendel. For example, during his fight with Grendel, Beowulf first says he does
not want the help of his Thanes, but when Grendel starts to beat him, his Thanes are forced to step
in (Beowulf Lines 80 100). This teaches Beowulf that he needs to accept help in the end and does
not always have to accomplish things on his own, something he uses to his advantage in later
battles. Altogether, both Grendel and Beowulf

The Different Gypsy Communities Around the World
The Gypsy Community Introduction The Gypsy communities originated in India and gradually
migrated to Western Europe (Acton, 1997). They travelled in family groups. They associated
themselves with various professions including hawking and peddling, tinkers, street performers and
fortune tellers (Great Britain, 2004). During the early 19th century, the Gypsy communities became
more identifiable and established. During this term, the communities developed in terms of classic
technology which made the communities form distinctive caravans, which replaced tents and
benders (Acton, 1997). Although the Gypsy communities formed the most remarkable group of
seasonal travelers, they constituted only a small fraction of the casual laborers (Barany, 2002). For
a very long time, the Gypsy communities have been a marginalized group by the dominant
population on the aspects of social, political and economical (Acton, 1997). The dominant
population always shows negative social attitudes towards them. The fact that they have
government approved places to settle is making them even more segregated (Barany, 2002). A
research conducted recently indicates that the Gypsy communities are, usually in significantly
health problems than other citizens of countries where they live. The majority of the Gypsy
communities live on the extreme margins of the society (Barany, 2002). They live in abject poverty
and this makes them easy targets in times of trouble. There are various Gypsy communities

Reflection On Bilingualism
In my entire life, I have been labeled many different names such as daughter, sister, athlete,
student, but I have never been labeled as a bilingual speaker. My stepmother, who speaks fluent
spanish, used to teach me when I was a little girl. We would parade around the house, me pointing
out objects and her naming each in a language I was determined to understand. I have always
admired the ability to communicate in another language. But I am just one person with one view on
the subject. For bilingual speakers Martin Espada and Richard Rodriguez, their experiences explain
their different views.
Bilingualism is a very debated concept today. The idea of bilingualism varies from person to
person. For known poet MartГn Espada, bilingualism allows a sense of identity for multiple
language speakers. To compare, writer Richard Rodriguez views bilingualism as a right and
obligation. Bilingualism is a right all citizens should have. Yet, citizens of the United Statesface
discrimination every day for their ability to speak multiple languages. Espada views
bilingualism as a sense of identity which is being taken away by English speakers. He explains
his arguments by referencing his past experiences. Along with Espada s view of bilingualism as
identity, it is also a passion for him. The capability to communicate in a language that connects
you with your culture and your people is a right Espada believes English speakers are attempting
to silence. In the essay, The New Bathroom Policy at English High School , Espada explains how
the repression of Spanish is part of a larger attempt to silence Latinos, and... we must refuse to be
silenced. (14). His claim, English speakers are attempting to silence Latinos, is widely debated.
Many, like Espada, believe English speakers, specifically those involved in government are
attempting to force out citizens native language. While in office, President Theodore Roosevelt
explained what he believes, Every immigrant should be required within five years to learn English
or leave the country. (AzQuotes.com). Espada references this quote in his essay because it
exemplifies some of the attempts to silence Latinos. Rodriguez s view of bilingualism varies from
Espadas. He views learning the

foreign policy in the Middle East and the oceans of crude oil that lie beneath the region s soil.
Klare traces oil s impact on international affairs since World War II, revealing its influence on the
Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, and Carter doctrines. He shows how America s own wells are
drying up as our demand increases; by 2010, the United States will need to import sixty percent
of its oil. Since most of this supply will have to come from violently anti American zones, our
dependency is bound to lead to recurrent military involvement. Ultimately, the cost of oil will be
measured in blood: the blood of American soldiers who die in combat, the blood of the many
other casualties of oil related violence, including the victims of terrorism. Klare believes that if
America does not reduce its dependency on imported oil it will have to increase its military
presence in the Middle East, stationing permanent garrisons in countries like Iraq and facing the
need to take further measures to support the Saudi Arabian regime and possible action in central
Asian countries like Kazakhstan. He believes that the US military budget will therefore have to
increase if the current policies remain in place, and claims that, the American military is being
used more and more for the protection of overseas oil fields and the

Essay on Symbollism in Goodman Brown
Symbollism in Goodman Brown The Symbolism in Nathan Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
begins before the story starts. The first sign of symbolism is in the title of the story. The word
young is used in saying that Mr. Brown is young in his marriage and in his maturity. The next word
Goodman was a term used in Hawthorne s day as a man under a gentleman. This fits Mr. Brown
because he is no one special, only to his friends and family.
Symbolism is strewn throughout the story in what seems like every word. In the beginning of the
story, the phrase Faith, as the wife was so aptly named shows that the word Faith is not only his
wife s name, rather it is also the Faith one must have to believe in religion. Mr. Brown s ... Show

When he meets the devil, He is told that he is late. As if they were supposed to meet. This could be
related to people having there certain time to meet Death as it were. Mr. Brown does not question
there meeting, rather he says that Faith held him back. Faith is used again as a symbol. The first
being that his wife Faith held him back. The other being that faith in God held him back from going
to the Devil.
As Mr. Brown goes deeper in the forest with the Devil, he notices his staff which resembles a
serpent. This is obviously a literary allegory to the story of Adam and Eve in the bible in which a
serpent, the most slyest and keen of all animals, convinces Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge.
This seems like a symbol where later on in the story, When Mr. Brown is deeper in the forest, he
learns things about the people in the town that he never knew, nor did he want to know.
As Mr. Brown goes farther into the forest with the Devil, the Devil begins to use people that Mr.

earlier years, also by showing him Goody Close in the forest picking up the staff that the Devil

RUNNING HEAD: My Place: The Place for Diversity
Chawn A. Thomas My Place: The Place for Diversity Multimedia Analysis COMM 315/Diversity

Example #2 I began working part time on a regular basis at the age of 13. After high school, I talked
my way into a job as a runner at the Chicago Board of Trade. A runner is the person who runs all
the buy and sell orders to the brokers in the pits. I have been successful in blue collar jobs, such
as roofing and painting, as well as white collar jobs, such as being an account executive for a
national mortgage lender. At the age of 21, I decided to attend college and later graduated cum
laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications management. I am currently
working on a master s degree and am married with two children. In this scenario, once again I
selected the wrong person. I selected the woman because she was older, and being more mature
led me to believe that she had more work experience than the two males that were pictured. In
my opinion, both males appeared to be too young to have so much work experience; especially
having worked as an account executive for a national mortgage lender. They both appeared to be
high school or college students. Example #3 I received a Bachelor of Science degree in graphic
communications and spent 7 years working in the prepress industry. After a 2 week trip to Italy, I
realized I wasn t happy with my life and needed to change. So, I quit my job, moved out to

The Horn Of Africa
Hamadryas baboons currently inhabit Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, and Eritrea comprising
the location we call the Horn of Africa (Swedell 2006). Their habitation can also be found in the
southwestern portion of Arabian Peninsula and Saudi Arabia (Swedell 2006). The Hamadryas
baboons sometimes called desert baboonlives in dry, desert like environment that distinguish them
from other types of baboons (i.e mountain baboons and savanna baboons). Belonging to the genus
Papio, part of the subfamily Cercopithecinae, five known species of baboons (Hamadryas, Guinea,
Olive, and Yellow) all are distributed across the African continent (Swedell 2006). Each species
territory consists of a distinct hybridization zone overlapping other... Show more content on

Ehardt, T.). In conservation, Hamadryas baboons are in Yangudi Rassa National Park, Harar
Wildlife Sanctuary, Awash Valley, and Northern Eritrea (Gippoliti, S. Ehardt, T.)
The diet and feeding behavior of the Hamadryas consist primarily of doum palm trees (Hypaene
thebaica), leaves, flowers, pods, seeds of Acacia Senegal, A. Mellifera, and Grewia berries
(Swedell 2006). Their diet seems to consist of herbivorous foods but there are reports that
Abyssinia hares (Lepus Capensis Habessinicus), small mammals such as dik dik, and infants of
larger ungulates such as gazelles, are also a source of food for the Hamadryas (Swedell 2006).
There are little to no food competition between Hamadryas baboons due to the fact that food
sources are sufficiently dispersed and the population is divided into small foraging groups (Swedell
2006).
The estimated home range size of Hamadryas baboon is from 9.3 km2 to 28 km2 (Swedell
2006). This numerical estimate changes in relation to season (increase in home range during the
wet season allows for greater vegetation and food abundance and shorter home range in dry season
with decrease in abundance of food) (Swedell 2006).

пїјTraveling population prefers to travel where there is running water (Altmann 1970). Though the
baboons travel close to running water, they actively avoid the water itself. When their route
requires that they cross a waterway, they usually travel along it until they find a spot where it is

In Kecia Ali’S Book “Sexual Ethics And Islam” We Are
Given
In Kecia Ali s book Sexual Ethics and Islam we are given a unique perspective on various
subjects within Islam. The chapters deal with topics that have been widely ignored or partially
approached, she addresses them in a way that seeks to not only spark a conversation but ensure
the conversation is uncensored and gets to the root of the issue. Of the nine chapters this book,
chapter six was perhaps the most significant because it is here that we are given a firm grasp on
what Ali is aiming to convey with this book. Through an analysis of this chapter it will become
clear that this chapter was used to fully develop her idea of readdressing what is considered
Islamic, the actions of Muslims, the way scholars justify beliefs, and issues... Show more content on

A similar point is made in chapter 7 about the word muslimmun and how it can be used to refer
to both men and women (Ali, 148). Furthermore, we also see Ali contesting a verse that suggests
men have authority and are responsible for women but only in financial terms then when a
woman supports herself the man no longer has authority or responsibility (Ali, 153). Here we see
Ali furthering the idea from chapter 6 because she is displaying how women have progressed and
in modern day many women are independent; therefore, its important to look back at verses like
this and view them as a product of their time as Ali suggests about sunna and hadith as a whole (Ali,
128). As previously stated, Ali asks if perhaps Islamis what Muslims practice in their daily lives.
However, she debunks that because Muslims lives vary and what some do contradicts the
authoritative texts. In my previous analysis of how translation can be manipulated, a patriarchal
undertone was present and it is also present when dealing with the subject of the daily lives of
Muslims. This undertone is present throughout the book and is heightened in this chapter.
Ali states that FGC (female genital circumcision) is not merely a customary practice incorrectly
understood as having religious authority (Ali, 131). This is stated

Lyra In The Golden Compass
Lyra is a character in the book the golden compass. I am writing this essay about why I think
Lyra is a hero. Well, what is a hero? In my opinion, a hero is someone who is noble, confident,
and qsomeone who shows great perseverance. In the golden compass, Lyra was noble when she
chose to fight with the master, and lord asriel, who were clearly good. She also was confident
because she went to war with little to no worries. She also showed great perseverance when she
never showed that she was afraid, even in the life threatening situation on the balloon ride. Lyra is a
herobecause she is noble. Showing nobleness is not easy, and it something that you cannot try to
do. Part of being noble is picking the right side. In the beginning of the book,

Analysis Of Legally Blonde
In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic
feminine icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability.
Remarkably, Elle never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others
put down her abilities and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the
world with pure confidence. As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods
for his internship quips, it s as if she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She
decides on a goal and knows she can attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or
mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film.
Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and
flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm,
beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained,
especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about
being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically
girly despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy
and smart are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean
you submit to patriarchal notion of submissiveness.
One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion
does not make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of
knowledge. Elle s fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and
tries to take advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full
price. Did you see this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this
a low viscosity rayon with half loop top stitching on the hem?. Why yes, it s one of a kind, the
retailer replied. Elle uses her fashion knowledge and wittily replies It s impossible to use a half
loop topstitch on low viscosity rayon.

  • 6. Essay on Happiness and Drought It is interesting to think about why our ancestors decided to include the pursuit of happiness as an American s unalienable right, as opposed to the previously considered, right to land. To live a life without happiness, it seemed to them, is to live a life without meaning. Edgar Lee Masters poems commonly reflect on the quality, or lack thereof, of happiness in the afterlife of dead countrymen (and women). The diction, word choice and imagery in Fiddler Jones by Masters expresses the seemingly inherent joy of a lackadaisical man as well as the value of perspectives and the ability to posit happiness over fortune and land. As many of Master s poems in his Spoon River Anthology, the title Fiddler Jones refers to a man who is not only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the poem begins by talking generally about the fundamental process of life, lines 3 and 4 bring an individual to the stage in which the poem is set forth. This is done by introducing the art of fiddle playing and the skill that such a feat requires. A skill is a tenet that sets apart an individual from a general crowd. It is something that one may seek pleasure from and it is here that the speaker of the poem creates this separation the individual. And if the people find you can fiddle, Why, fiddle you must, for all your life. (ll. 3 4) At this point we are being advised by the speaker that if we have a skill we must use it for the rest of our lives. But it also says that if people find you can fiddle, which suggests a communal aspect. This skill that sets one apart also makes them a part of a community that cherishes the skill which one has acquired. This further contributes to the meaning on the poem because this is the point in which we are given insight into the speaker s philosophy. This belief being that if one is good at something it should fully encompass their being for the duration of one s life, thus rendering it a passion that becomes as a part of living as breathing itself. This leads into the next lines where we are now required to consider value as a component in distinguishing divergent perspectives. The point in which perspectives diverge happens in lines 4 and 5, where Master s imagery is employed to depict the scene of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All in all, even though the argument seems to be relevantly balanced I believe there is a lot to loss on this project, a considerably amount more than what is at stake to be gained. The project is so unsafe for a business which is already struggling to survive. I think that First Car plc needs to hold fire and invest in a project which will guarantee to bring in profits and cash quickly rather than one that is extremely risky with no previous data to compare it on and one that entails extremely high costs cars could be sitting around for days or even weeks in expensive city centres with staff having nothing to do, I suspect it could be a seasonal business in regards to when someone might want a car and what for. In a recent study 1,623 patients were interviewed an average of four days after they had suffered a heart attack following an outburst of anger. Eventually our arteries will grow weak and we will remain tense, living daily with treacherous moods and health. The alternative is to shout out our anger at the world and let it manifest itself any way that it pleases. Of course, taking our anger out at the world can have even more deleterious effects. It Can t Happen Here follows a middle aged journalist with his and his family s struggles with a new political government. A new popular candidate is running for president. This new candidate is making outrageous claims to make America go back to its right glory. Because of this false hope people believe in him and elect him and then all hell breaks loose. This play is a dark parody of democracy and freedom. The design of the stage was gorgeous. It looked like it was ripped out of a late 30s or 40s movie. Everyone wear clothing from that time period. Everyone was wearing clean cut clothes, dresses, suits, and ties. I believe that there was a time skip in the play which the actors changed their clothes to a more modern look. The always use more technology after the time skip. They use laptops which showed there was some time passed. The lighting was very well done. When a character was talking in their head or by themselves they would a single light showed on them while all the other lights were off. • 21. John Edgar Hoover Contributions Largely due to John Edgar Hoover s contribution, the Federal Bureau of Investigation today is acknowledged for its organized crime fighting force. As the first director of the FBI, Hoover s guidance was vital in shaping the Bureau s image as he integrated technology with modern crime solving techniques and emphasized the use of surveillance to follow suspected criminals. Many believe Hoover s greatest accomplishment was becoming the first director of the FBI; however, his most significant feat is how he molded the FBI into an effective organization that during Hoover s lifetime operated without the supervision of the branches of government. Hoover was born and raised in Washington D.C and had a relatively normal childhood. Hoover was born on January 1, 1895, and raised by Dickerson Hoover and Annie Hoover (Biography). Being raised in Washington D.C played a significant role in Hoover s life as his parents worked for the government and were exposed to politics at a young age. Being raised close to the nation s capital influenced Hoover to major in law as he saw the opportunities that were available for elected officials. It is possible that if Hoover did not major in law, he would not have pursued politics thus, never becoming the first director of the FBI. Hoover eventually joined the training corps program and continued to refute social norms. More specifically, Hoover joined the Reserve Officers Training Corps and was vocal in supporting women s rights (Biography). This is important as joining the Officers Training Corps allowed him to develop leadership abilities that he would eventually apply when leading the FBI. HooverВґs willingness to change a precedent will be vital to forming the FBI as Hoover applied new methods on a large scale which made people question his reliability as the first director. Hoover chose to study law in order to be able to enter politics. More specifically, In 1916, he gained his Bachelor degree in Law...Following year, he attained a Master s degree in Law from the University. (Biography) HooverВґs law degree enabled him to join the Department of Justice and was assigned to the War Emergency Board. HooverВґs accomplishments eventually lead to him working under Mitchell ... Typically, the killer is a ravenous entity that kills only to kill. Timeless horror movies and stories that spark the fear inside of humanity are those beings who seem realistic and kill with no real motive. For instance, Michael Myers, the infamous killer from the Halloween series, terrorizes for no reason. He does not talk, he does not show empathy in his killings nor does he care for who he kills. He stalks his prey and proceeds to murder them in some of the most brutal ways imaginable. Grenouille, with his lack of scent, is able to do the same, but only in the bounds of his goals. He does not brutal kill the individuals, simply he hits them over the head with a club. The act seems similar to a person putting a dog to sleep in the most humane way possible. This kind of ore is formed by the chemical weathering of serpentinite and other igneous rocks. Because of this requirement of weathering, deposits are located mostly in a humid tropical environment (Figure 1). (Butt Cluzel 2013) The major end product of this weathering process will be: hematite, nickeliferous limonitic ore ((Fe,Ni)O(OH).nH2O) and nickeliferous silicate ore ((Ni,Mg)6Si4O10(OH)8). Nickeliferous limonitic ore and nickeliferous silicate ore are the two dominant types of nickel ore. (Pickles 2003) uplifted oxide rich regoliths form nickeliferous limonitic ore and nickel goes downward to saprolite and combine with silicates to form nickeliferous silicate ore. The silicate ore deposits at a greater depth than the limonitic ore. Nickeliferous limonitic ores are mostly weathered product of goethites. (Butt Cluzel 2013) For both ores nickel content of each will be around 1.5%. Nickel in the silicate ore will be more than 1.5%. The Sunday School teacher, Bible in hand, begins the class and starts out asking, How do you define worship? After a few minutes a brave soul raises his hand, slowly but surely. The teacher, relieved the silence is about to be broken, calls upon him. The child responds with, Is it when we sing in big church? The teacher, smiling largely, informs the child that singing in big church is part of worship, but is not the only form of worship. Today children and teenagers are asked the question above a lot in church and typically answer the same way the child did. Although that may be the main answer they give that is only a portion of what worship is. Worship is the act of honoring God. Bilingualism is a very debated concept today. The idea of bilingualism varies from person to person. For known poet MartГn Espada, bilingualism allows a sense of identity for multiple language speakers. To compare, writer Richard Rodriguez views bilingualism as a right and obligation. Espada views bilingualism as a sense of identity which is being taken away by English speakers. He explains his arguments by referencing his past experiences. Along with Espada s view of bilingualism as identity, it is also a passion for him. The capability to communicate in a language that connects you with your culture and your people is a right Espada believes English speakers are attempting to silence. Thomas My Place: The Place for Diversity Multimedia Analysis COMM 315/Diversity Issues in Communication November 4, 2010 Barbara Lach Smith Although, I am not the type of person who judges people based on their superficial characteristics, after reviewing the examples depicted in the multimedia analysis, I did find myself judging ... After high school, I talked my way into a job as a runner at the Chicago Board of Trade. A runner is the person who runs all the buy and sell orders to the brokers in the pits. I have been successful in blue collar jobs, such as roofing and painting, as well as white collar jobs, such as being an account executive for a national mortgage lender. At the age of 21, I decided to attend college and later graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications management. I am currently working on a master s degree and am married with two children. In this scenario, once again I selected the wrong person. I selected the woman because she was older, and being more mature led me to believe that she had more work experience than the two males that were pictured. In my opinion, both males appeared to be too young to have so much work experience; especially having worked as an account executive for a national mortgage lender. They both appeared to be high school or college students. Example #3 I received a Bachelor of Science degree in graphic communications and spent 7 years working in the prepress industry. After a 2 week trip to Italy, I realized I wasn t happy with my life and needed to change. So, I quit my job, moved out to California, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Horn Of Africa Hamadryas baboons currently inhabit Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, and Eritrea comprising the location we call the Horn of Africa (Swedell 2006). Their habitation can also be found in the southwestern portion of Arabian Peninsula and Saudi Arabia (Swedell 2006). The Hamadryas baboons sometimes called desert baboonlives in dry, desert like environment that distinguish them from other types of baboons (i.e mountain baboons and savanna baboons). Belonging to the genus Papio, part of the subfamily Cercopithecinae, five known species of baboons (Hamadryas, Guinea, Olive, and Yellow) all are distributed across the African continent (Swedell 2006). Each species territory consists of a distinct hybridization zone overlapping other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ehardt, T.). In conservation, Hamadryas baboons are in Yangudi Rassa National Park, Harar Wildlife Sanctuary, Awash Valley, and Northern Eritrea (Gippoliti, S. Ehardt, T.) The diet and feeding behavior of the Hamadryas consist primarily of doum palm trees (Hypaene thebaica), leaves, flowers, pods, seeds of Acacia Senegal, A. Mellifera, and Grewia berries (Swedell 2006). Their diet seems to consist of herbivorous foods but there are reports that Abyssinia hares (Lepus Capensis Habessinicus), small mammals such as dik dik, and infants of larger ungulates such as gazelles, are also a source of food for the Hamadryas (Swedell 2006). There are little to no food competition between Hamadryas baboons due to the fact that food sources are sufficiently dispersed and the population is divided into small foraging groups (Swedell 2006). The estimated home range size of Hamadryas baboon is from 9.3 km2 to 28 km2 (Swedell 2006). This numerical estimate changes in relation to season (increase in home range during the wet season allows for greater vegetation and food abundance and shorter home range in dry season with decrease in abundance of food) (Swedell 2006). • 41. In Kecia Ali’S Book “Sexual Ethics And Islam” We Are Given In Kecia Ali s book Sexual Ethics and Islam we are given a unique perspective on various subjects within Islam. The chapters deal with topics that have been widely ignored or partially approached, she addresses them in a way that seeks to not only spark a conversation but ensure the conversation is uncensored and gets to the root of the issue. Of the nine chapters this book, chapter six was perhaps the most significant because it is here that we are given a firm grasp on what Ali is aiming to convey with this book. Through an analysis of this chapter it will become clear that this chapter was used to fully develop her idea of readdressing what is considered Islamic, the actions of Muslims, the way scholars justify beliefs, and issues... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similar point is made in chapter 7 about the word muslimmun and how it can be used to refer to both men and women (Ali, 148). Furthermore, we also see Ali contesting a verse that suggests men have authority and are responsible for women but only in financial terms then when a woman supports herself the man no longer has authority or responsibility (Ali, 153). Here we see Ali furthering the idea from chapter 6 because she is displaying how women have progressed and in modern day many women are independent; therefore, its important to look back at verses like this and view them as a product of their time as Ali suggests about sunna and hadith as a whole (Ali, 128). As previously stated, Ali asks if perhaps Islamis what Muslims practice in their daily lives. However, she debunks that because Muslims lives vary and what some do contradicts the authoritative texts. In my previous analysis of how translation can be manipulated, a patriarchal undertone was present and it is also present when dealing with the subject of the daily lives of Muslims. This undertone is present throughout the book and is heightened in this chapter. Ali states that FGC (female genital circumcision) is not merely a customary practice incorrectly understood as having religious authority (Ali, 131). This is stated ... • 42. Lyra In The Golden Compass Lyra is a character in the book the golden compass. I am writing this essay about why I think Lyra is a hero. Well, what is a hero? In my opinion, a hero is someone who is noble, confident, and qsomeone who shows great perseverance. In the golden compass, Lyra was noble when she chose to fight with the master, and lord asriel, who were clearly good. She also was confident because she went to war with little to no worries. She also showed great perseverance when she never showed that she was afraid, even in the life threatening situation on the balloon ride. Lyra is a herobecause she is noble. Showing nobleness is not easy, and it something that you cannot try to do. Part of being noble is picking the right side. In the beginning of the book, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Analysis Of Legally Blonde In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence. As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film. Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm, beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained, especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit to patriarchal notion of submissiveness. One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon with half loop top stitching on the hem?. Why yes, it s one of a kind, the retailer replied. Elle uses her fashion knowledge and wittily replies It s impossible to use a half loop topstitch on low viscosity rayon. ...
