The Implications of Current Child Policy for the Welfare...
The Implications of Current Child Policy for the Welfare of Children
Children in the United Kingdom are key consumers of social policy. They consume a vast amount of
the many services provided by this Country. Services such as health care through Doctors, hospitals
and clinics, the education system which is largely devoted financially to the schooling of young
people, and also the social security system which is stretched by children whose parents are in need of
income support or family tax credit. (Alcock, Erskine May, 2002) All of these services contribute to
the well being of the young people of this Country. However, increasing amounts of the Country s
budget and social policies are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Arguments shall be provided to concur or oppose the recommendations, and the essay shall conclude

human judgement can be unreliable. Furthermore, it shall conclude that, these reports are not written

The welfare of children in the United Kingdom is one of the most important items for the government
in terms of social policy. (Ellison Pierson, 1998) The Children Act 1989 sets out legislation to provide
for numerous circumstances which could occur in a child s life and cause a detrimental effect on his or
her well being. Examples of the guidelines that are included in the act are briefly summarised here:
The 1989 Act provides guidance for custody of children for issues such as the divorce of parents,
neglect, sexual/physical and mental abuse or future risk. (Blakemore, 1998) The act

Uss Biddle History
The USS Biddle (CG 34 or DLG 34) was a Belknap class guided missile cruiser of the US Navy from
1967 to 1993. The name USS Biddle comes from the 18th Century Caption Nicholas Biddle of the
Continental Navy. Also, the USS Biddle s last days were in 1963. The ship was from Norfolk,
Virginia. The Action in Vietnam that the Biddle was involved in was during the time of January 1968,
the Biddle was sent in to the combat zone off the coast of Vietnam. The ship traveled in Vietnamese
waters all the way from March to July. The USS Biddle performed the PIRAZ duty (Positive
Identification Radar Advisory Zone) it served as a Sea air rescue vessel. After the Action in Vietnam
the Biddle returned back home to Norfolk in September. The Biddle often went to the West Indies for

Rocky Flats Plant Research Paper
Many people tried to bring to light the hazardous materials that Rocky Flats Plant was releasing into
the environment. After the FBI raid of 1989, people begin to wonder if hazardous materials were
released into the environment. Many years later, Rocky Flats Plant plead guilty to criminal violations
of environmental law. The truth of the damage of Rocky Flats Plant did to the environment may never
truly be known, since the inspectors were strong armed. The information that was released to the
public can give an idea about how bad it was. The Rocky Flats Plant was a former nuclear weapons
production facility located near Golden, Colorado. It was constructed in 1951. The Rocky Flats Plant

It also emits neutrons, beta particles and gamma rays. It is considered toxic, in part, because if it were
to be inhaled it could deposit in the lungs and eventually cause damage. There are five common
isotopes of plutonium, PU 238, PU 239, PU 240, PU 241, and PU 242. These are all fissionable the
atom s nucleus can easily split apart if it is struck by a neutron. PU 239 has a half life of 24,100 years
and PU 241 s half life is 14.4 years. Substances with shorter half lives decay more quickly than those
with longer half lives, so they emit more energetic radioactivity. Like any radioactive isotopes,
plutonium isotopes transform when they decay. They might become different plutonium isotopes or
different elements, such as uranium or neptunium. Many of these daughter products are themselves
radioactive. ( Backgrounder on Plutonium ). A costly fire at the Rocky Flats Plant in 1969 and later
detection of off site Plutonium in soil samples spurred discussion of environmental contamination
problems and safety implications of the Rocky Flats installation. (Little, C. A., and F. W. Whicker).
Investigators were sent out to the Rocky Flats to test soil samples from wind dispersion. The findings

Chameleon Shoes Sources Of Capital
Chameleon Shoes Sources of Capital Every business needs some form of capital investment hence the
need for entrepreneurs to identify reliable sources of financing. The chameleon shoes venture, being a
new business opportunity will require reliable sources of capital. In fact, the chameleon shoes business
will require finances to purchase assets and for its working capital operations. As such, this paper
seeks to explore various sources of capital with particular interest on venture capital as well as their
pros and cons.
Potential Sources of Capital Personal savings is the first potential source of capital for investing in the
chameleon shoe venture. Personal savings especially money put aside in a bank is easily accessible
and is very instrumental in starting off the business venture (Castellani et al., 2013). Actually, personal
savings are important because they can be used to develop one or two pairs of chameleon shoes which
will act as samples. Using personal savings to come up with samples of the chameleon shoes helps in
pitching the product and making it possible to expand the capital outlay by attracting potential
investors. Therefore, the pros for personal savings are its ease of accessibility and its ability to assist
an entrepreneur pitch a product in the early stages. Unfortunately, personal savings has shortcomings
because it is often inadequate or the amount may be too small to make an impact. Moreover, angel

County Hospital Simulation Project
Abstract
The paper offers a simulation model describing the X ray departments operations in the county
hospital. It can be used for testing various process scenarios, for allocation of resources and also
conduct activity based cost analysis. The simulation model is used for demonstrating a new
operational method that makes the operations at the X ray department more effective. The operational
method is referred to as Triage team method. This method has been it is been studied from two view
points. The results showed that the method enhances the X ray department if properly implemented
and it incorporates all the required tasks.

First, a structural development was undertaken. The real design was used as the background. This was
because the entire operation of the x ray department and the future alterations were easier to show the
staff. The areas of treatment as well as other operational areas, were defined in the layout by use of
graphical SimQuick graphical elements. Other graphical elements included counters for waiting areas
and utilization meters for areas of treatment. The counters were used for giving visual information
regarding the number of patients in the areas of waiting. On the other side, the utilization meters were
showing how much of the resources were been utilized.
After defining all the areas, it was time for defining the entities paths and resources that are the staff.
The network of the path comprises of all the probable paths that all the entities, patients, and members
of staff could utilize in moving from place to place in the x ray department. After creating the paths,
the structural definitions were made.
The needed information for the simulation model to be functional comprised of these particulars:
entities information, resources information, logic definitions and data use.

Supply and Demand Economic Critique
The United States economy is determined by a number of factors, such as; gross domestic product
(GDP), unemployment rates, consumer income, and interest rates. Everything the U.S. produces is
measured by the GDP. When the GDP turns negative, the economy can enter a recession. If this
negative GDP continues for years the country is considered in a depression. Supply and demand are
the forces drive the U.S. economy. Supply includes employment and natural resources such as oil.
Demand, or personal consumption, drives 70% of the economy. The current spiral of the United States
economy can be attributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Consumer Confidence Index is watched by stock market analysts and investors to get an idea of
whether consumer spending will continue to drive the economy.
The U.S. is also facing income inequality, one quarter of Americans make less than $10 per hour, and
this is income below poverty level. Many lower wage workers receive no health insurance, pension
plans, no sick or vacation days. Recent government tax policies have helped rich investors more than
the low wage earners. Technology and outsourcing has increased inequality. Emerging markets of
other countries are seeing increases in their income as they become more competitive in the global
marketplace. Overseas work forces are becoming more skilled and sophisticated in managing their
economy; as a result, wealth is shifting to those countries.
Interest rates control the flow of money in the economy. High interest rates curb inflation, but also
slow down the economy. Lower interest rates stimulate the economy, but could lead to inflation.
Americans must know whether rates are increasing or decreasing, and what other economic indicators
are saying. The target interest rate, or short term interest rate is controlled by the Federal Reserve.
Long term interest rates are market driven. The global average interest rate for long term debt is the
result of global demand for credit compared to global supply of saving.
It doesn t seem clear if the country is still rising from its

Why Does A Movie Flop
Films are both considered an art and a form of entertainment. To make such great films, you need an
amazing director, wonderful cast and crew, and one hell of a budget. But then again if a movie has all
of these then why do some films tend to just not make it into the box office charts. Why does a movie
flop anyways? There are a lot of films that unfortunately just didn t make it and we will be stating a
few examples of them in just a few but let me just enlighten you as to why these films tend to flop.
One of the things that has to be considered is its competition.
If your film is directed by an Academy Award director with an Academy Award winning cast, but the
movie you are competing with did a great job at advertising their film especially on the social media,
your film might not make it. There are a lot of great films (technically) that flopped not because it is
an awful film but because the people just don t find it interesting enough. So here are some films that
didn t quite make it into the box office charts, some might surprise you.

So it was a big surprise when this Disney film didn t manage to make it through. Depp, alongside
Armie Hammer and Helena Bonham Cart, stars in this western action film. According to critics, it
didn t quite make because it was way too over budget and it was completely unnecessary. It wouldn t
be considered a flop if the budget is less than $375 million because that just meant that they need to
make more than $600 million to be considered profitable for the studio. But unfortunately, the film
only made $260.5 million, which still a lot for a film but obviously Disney didn t get enough money
back, that is why it is considered as a

Queen Cleopatra VII was a powerful, intelligent, and passionate woman born from royal blood of the
Ptolemaic Dynasty. As a successor of Hellenistic people and Alexander the Great she was not of an
Egyptian blood but born in Alexandria and speaking Egyptian language. When her father Ptolemy
Auletes died, Cleopatra was in the age of eighteen. She had three sisters Cleopatra VI, Berenice IV,
Arsinoe IV two of them were older than her and one younger, and two younger brothers named
Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV too. Cleopatra VII and her brother Ptolemy XIII inherited the kingdom
of their father as it was written his will. Because of the law in Egypt of that time Cleopatra was unable
to rule by her own without the presence of a male coruler, a brother or son. As a result she ruled
together with her brother who she get married to although he was only twelve years old.
At the time Cleopatra gained power the future of the Dynasty was in danger. Places like Cyprus, Coele
Syria, and Cyrenaica were not under her kingdom anymore, and in the remaining places there was
poverty and famine. But Cleopatra was an ambitious woman and wanted her kingdom to be a strong
and great empire. Between Pompey and Julius Caesar there was a conflict which leads to in a struggle.
Cleopatra supported him however he was defeated and after his defeat Caesar came in Egypt, in
Alexandria.

Media Bias And Its Impact On Society
For the majority of history, newspapers have reported hard facts. Newspapers were a trusted source
that society depended on to form their own opinion. More than ever, today it seems to be more
difficult to find facts or truth. Just on that statement two significant and impactful questions are raised.
Why is there so much bias and discrepancies between reporting and why is society fine with this?
Anyone who pays attention to the reporting that is going on, they would notice the first question, but
do not take it a moment to question why the public or themselves allow it. This all ties back to
newspapers because they are beginning of this disaster. Although there hundreds of colleges and
universities offer reporting degrees, these two questions are the heart of the matter and affecting
society negatively.
The daily activity of reading and watching any news outlet becomes filled with garbage. This garbage,
of course, is media bias. It is ironic that every media outlet will call out the other side, yet committing
exactly the same sin at that very moment. This is dreadful for the audience or the public because one
has no idea what is going on or is true. Paul Farhi, Washington Post, points out, Meanwhile, just about
every new poll of public sentiment shows that confidence in the news media has hit a new low.
Seventy seven percent of those surveyed by the Pew Research Center in the fall said the media tend to
favor one side compared with 53 percent who said so in 1985. This

How Did Civilization Differ From Ancient Civilization
Throughout the centuries humans have greatly evolved. Originally nomadic tribes, people learned to
settle down and form civilizations due to the Neolithic Revolution. During this time humans learned
how to farm. This major discovery allowed us to create cities where we could rely on our own
supplies and labor for food rather than moving around to follow and hunt animals for food. For this
plan to work the people had to settle around the most ideal conditions for farming. Thus, most of the
successful ancient civilizations were formed around rivers. Ancient Egypt and Ancient India were two
of the greatest ancient civilizations and they relied on the rivers they were built around for a surplus of
food, trade, and cultural diffusion. The Nile River was the river ancient Egyptians centralized their
civilization around. This river valley provided many valuable resources to the Egyptians. One example
of this was the annual flooding of the river. According to World History Connections to Today,
Egyptians eagerly awaited the annual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ancient civilization is known today as the Indus valley. The civilians resided along the banks of
the Indus, Ganges, and Brahmaputra. These rivers carry melted snow from the Himalayan mountain
range to the cities allowing the people of the Indus Valley to farm. (Esler Pg. 52) These rivers gave the
people of the Indus valley access to the Persian Gulf allowing them to trade with people of that area.
This caused the spread of Buddhism as well as new ideas being brought back to the Indus Valley. One
example of this is the Indus people s connections to Sumer. According to the text, Contact with Sumer
may have stimulated Indus Valley people to develop their own system of writing. To sum up, the rivers
expanded the Indus Valley civilization by providing fertile soil and by increasing the civilization s
connections with other

As host on the trail to Canterbury I have the honor of judging all the stories told by my companions.
The tales ranged from love to death to despair, but only one can win. The Knight is a valiant, young
soul who never ceases to impress on and off the battlefield. His tale also impresses its audience. The
knight is the winner because his tale is filled with love, pain, adventure. The Knight s tale is a love
story. The two main characters, Arcite and Palamon, are madly in love with the Princess, Emily. They
both love her at first sight, so much so that Arcite says that the beauty of Emily hit him with so much
force, that if Palamon was severely wounded he would still hurt more, ... at the sight of her beauty

Symptoms Of Hypoglycemia
Symptoms of hypoglycemia can be very subtle and difficult to recognize. Many people with
hypoglycemia have become so used to their symptoms that often, they don t even recognize their own
abnormality. This is especially true when it comes to behavioral changes.
There is a whole variety of symptoms that can be caused when the body cells are deprived of sugar or
when blood sugar drops too quickly. The most common symptom of hypoglycemia is fatigue. When
referring to fatigue, the normal kind of fatigue that occurs after hard work or exercise is not what is
being discussed. Hypoglycemic fatigue affects the muscles and nerves and usually can t be relieved

By simply switching for a diet that is high in refined carbohydrates to one that is comprised of protein
and complex carbohydrates, one can bridge the gap between a dysfunctional life and a rich one. In
order to determine whether you have hypoglycemia, you must first examine your eating habits. Simple
facts like what and when you eat can directly affect how you feel. Anyone who has unexplained
fatigue, depression, crying spells, anxiety, or apprehension should investigate low blood sugar levels
as a potential culprit. You should also look into your family history, as hypoglycemia tends to run
within families.
Those people who are chronically stressed and often find themselves on a roller coaster of blood sugar
going up and down are especially prone to dips in energy at certain times of the day. These people
have adrenals that are not functioning optimally, causing them to want sugar when they hit a real low
point. Usually, in the mid afternoon, adrenal glands are at their lowest level of functioning. If you do,
in fact, suffer from hypoglycemia, you will feel good right after you eat and then your mood and

Analysis Of The Book The First Thing
The first thing I noticed that was unique about the way the book was written was that the entire novel
takes place in just a single day. Woolf gives the reader so many details, seemingly ordinary ones such
as Clarissa going to buy flowers for her party, mending her dress, meeting old acquaintances, etc.
However, these everyday interactions (combined with the character s inner thoughts) create a very
clear and complex image of social class, the perception of time, loneliness/being alone (not physically,
but mentally because of self repression), and lastly, the devastating effects of war (as shown by
Septimus s mental condition).
From early on in the book, the reader can tell that social class is a very big part of British society.

She even admits that her and Miss. Kilman may have gotten along, but not in this world . Proving just
how important social class is.
Yet, while Clarissa follows the heavy class based system of British society, she also finds herself
limited by it. Forcing her to alter her identity to play the expected part in society and maintain her
social status/class. She admires Sally, and how she would voice her opinions and do things her own
way no matter what anyone else thought of her, in a way she envies her for having the freedom she
never had. There is a big gap between what Clarissa thinks and what she does/how she allows people
to perceive her. Even mentally stifling her own ideas that do not fit into the role she is attempting to
play. This leads directly into her feelings of loneliness because while she interacts with a lot of people
and is married, there is a distance between her true self and everyone else. Throughout the book, the
reader is given insight to how each character perceives another vs. what they actually say out loud, if
they say anything at all. This gives the reader the ability to see this distance between everyone, even
Clarissa s own husband is unable to tell her that he loves her, yet he really does love her on the inside.
There are several other forms of repression, such as

Comparing The Godfather And The Tv Drama On The Flesh
At first glance there may seem little similarities between the movie The Godfather and the TV drama
In The Flesh, However if one looks in more detail at the characters and motivations of the leading
characters one can argue that they bare many of the same traits and substance as each other.
These similarities can fall into certain genres such as patriarchal society and culture, gender roles,
sexuality and family values for clarity. To support my argument I will deal with each of these
similarities in term. To understand the above similarities one must be clear as to their meanings in the
context of the pieces
A patriarchal society is a term to refer to the autocratic rule by male members of a family or society.
The term A system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely
excluded from it. Oxforddictionaris.com, (2015). patriarchy However in modern days it tends to refer
to social systems or cultures where the power is held by an adult male
The first of these similarities observed is that both The God Father and In The Flesh centre on the
power and influence within a patriarchal society. A man who doesn t spend time with his family can
never be a real man. (Puzo,1969) alike most traditional novels displaying men as strong, as Helen

The Need to Measure Transit System Performance
The necessity to measure transit system performance along with its different dimensions has led to the
development of a large number of quantitative performance indicators. Nevertheless, depending upon
the specific indicator assessed, one can reach to different conclusions regarding performance.
Furthermore, though performance and scale economies are closely related issues, they have been
generally examined separately in the transit literature. There have been significant amounts of research
undertaken in order to examine the transit system performance, and in turn of assessing the
performance based on such methods but the two characteristics underline the work. First, due to
heterogeneity in getting different relationships between efficiency and effectiveness, system
performance, existence of scale of economies and various such issues, the conclusion which have
come out of different studies is not same. In other words there are conflicting conclusions. Even
researchers are not using the data which is provided by NTD (National Transit Data base) and as a
result the comparability of findings across researches is questionable. A second problem arises
because researches have been using cross section time series data from largely heterogeneous systems
and have introduced a size related bias in their results (Berechman, 1993). Tomazinis (1977) specified
a set of indicators in order to measure the public transit systems s performance. His measurement was

Essay about The Breakfest Club
The Breakfast Club nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Theresa Puchta is very accurate in her description of
the merits and limitations of John Hughes films. Almost all of the characteristics and themes she has
described in the article: suburban setting, vague social concerns, high school cliques, uncaring parents,
characters wearing the latest fashions and top 40 soundtrack music have been proven true in The
Breakfast Club. The movie has a suburban setting inside a high school, and the characters each belong

They only address the concerns of their lives, none of society. The article was right on with these
points. The biggest and most attractive feature of Hughes films is the realistic dialogue, critics say it is
hip just the way teens talk. Theresa Puchta puts a little spin on that, she writes though Hughes
dialogue is realistic, funny and literate certainly several notches above the drivel usually spoken by
people in teen films it s sometimes a bit too rich. This point brings a lot of truth. This is definitely
displayed during conversations between the five high school students when they try to psychologically
figure each other out. For example, the bully is criticized by the others as just masking up the fact that
he knows he doesn t really matter to anyone, and knowing that no matter how hard he tries he won t fit
in. The teens slip these types of observations into their conversations so easily. Although teens do
come up with profound statements it is usually after knowing the person well or the effect of a certain
emotion/fact that person has made you realize. In The Breakfast Club the teens begin to analyze the
bullies behaviour in the beginning of the movie after spending just a few minutes with him in
detention. Besides this however, as Theresa pointed out, the lingo is very realistic and full of terms
which teenagers used such as blazing up which means to smoke marijuana.

The Hay-Bunau-Varilla Treaty Of 1940
Spanish explorers had an insatiable obsession with gold. With their empire expanding into the reaches
of central and south America their greed was apparent. Vasco Núñez de Balboa first spotted the Pacific
Coast from the isthmus of Panama while searching for treasure. His discovery was far more valuable
than any monetary token; he found a short strip of land linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. This
location would become indispensable to global trade 400 years after he first saw its shore. Panama has
since been a place of great prosperity, but with prosperity comes death, disease, and political turmoil.
The canal as it stands today was built in the early 20th century and finished in 1914 under the
Roosevelt Administration. Although the canal is just a series of concrete locks, their application has
greatly altered the role in relations between the United States and Latin America. It was no secret that
the United States had imperialist ambitions in the early 20th century. Theodore Roosevelt and Alfred
Mahan both advocated for an expansion and modernization of the U.S. Navy. The new fleet called the

The Importance Of Historical Aspects Of Death And Dying
The Importance of Historical Aspects of Death and Dying for Nurses The field of nursing has always
been one with constant evolution. From the early days on the battlefields, farms and homes to current

particular, has evolved from private settings to publicly passing away in a hospital or nursing home.
This paper will focus on defining and discussing the historical aspects of death and dying, presenting
the current functions and roles of the hospice nurse, why it is important for nurses to know this
valuable information and how this knowledge shapes the future of nursing.
Past History of Nursing and Definitions It is necessary to define and discuss the history, in particular,
the American experience of dying and death. The United States (US) has not always had hospitals for
which the ill and dying go to be cared for. Prior to the civil war, death was considered a private matter
(Leming Dickinson, 2016). The only indication a person passed away was the tolling of the church
bells or the symbolic gravestone on a family s property. Weatherford (2010) states that the Civil War
and the contributions from Clara Barton, initiated a standard of care as well as a central location for
delivering care. Before hospitals were common in the US, one hundred percent of patient care was
performed at the home or on the battlefield. Wives and mistresses of the soldiers followed the camps

Social Influence of Television Advertisement on Children a...
CHAPTER ONE 1. BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY Social influence is defined as a change in an
individual s thoughts, feelings, attitudes, or behaviors that results from interaction with another
individual or a group of people . Social influence is distinct from conformity, power, and authority.
French and Raven (1959) provided an early formalization of the concept of social influence in their
discussion of the bases of social power. For French and Raven, agents of change included not just
individuals and groups, but also norms and roles. They viewed social influence as the outcome of the
exertion of social power from one of five bases: reward power, coercive power, legitimate power,
expert power, or referent power. A change in reported ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well when a young child sees something like that they can only think but to go try it themselves and
maybe they will have fun and enjoy themselves. Children that are trying smoking are becoming
younger and younger. Smoking has nothing good to offer to children but health problems later on in
life. Television impacts children the most as far as advertising goes. Many children as young as three
years old recognize brand named products and clothing. When these children spend time watching so
much television they cannot help but be influenced by it; and want what they see. These children
become so obsessed with having what they see on television that they continue to hassle their parents
until they get it Some parents may even have trouble keeping up with the amount of money theft child
thinks that they need so they may have the newest products out there. These children that are watching
more television, are going to want more toys seen in advertisements and eat more advertised food than
children who do not watch as much television (Strasburger, 2001). The British Medical Association,
responding to the Government s White Paper of November 2004, recommends an outright ban on
advertising foods to children in the UK (see British

A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size
Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height is correlational. I
believe it is, based on my personal experiences. Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It s
common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a
clearer relationship between shoe size and height when girls and boys are measured separately. The
shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is measured from the
top of the head to the bottom of the feet.
Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between
height and shoe size.
Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were
from ages 16 18 years old. These students were picked based on convenience. This survey might be
somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their
information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did the
standard deviation, scatter plot graphs, and correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the diffusion
of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It s used when assessing data. To
find the standard deviation, it s necessary to first find the mean. Now we find how far each value is
from the mean (the deviation). Then, square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a
scatter plot graph

Thoughts Of The Asian Crisis
Term Paper Thoughts of the Asian Crisis (1997 1998) In the period between 1997 to 1998, a great
economic storm blew the some fast developing countries, especially Thailand, Indonesia and
Malaysia. They had great economic development before the crisis, but left almost everything at the
end of the storm. The most obvious impact of the crisis is the capital outflows and currency
devaluation. So, people in those developing countries began to find who should be responding to the
crisis. International speculators were appropriate targets to be blamed due to their actives during the
crisis. The President of Indonesia, Suharto, even claimed There are [parties] trying to engineer the fall
of the rupiah to the 20,000 level [against the dollar]. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only blaming speculators for the past experience is not appropriate: the East Asian economic
structure, fiscal policy of responding the crisis and political structure possibly played more significant
roles on aggrandizing this crisis. Admittedly, the active speculators capital operation is the catalyze of
the crisis: before the crisis, those 3 Asian countries are quite similar: All of them just endure a great
economic progress for the recession of Japan in the early 1990s. The rate of export was gradually
carrying a higher weight; the real GDP had more than 8 percentage annual growths constantly.
(DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global capital for investment. As
for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia
is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which
means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange
rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy
and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. Admittedly, this function
fairly functioning before the crisis, but there are some potential problems are still unsolved which
made their economy not as sturdy as those countries thought

Hugo Film Reflection
Reflection #1 Hugo (Scorsese, 2011) What precisely is the cinema of attractions? First it is a cinema
that bases itself on the quality that Leger celebrated: its ability to show something. Tom Gunning It
was in a large, packed cinema that I first viewed Hugo in 2011. During this initial viewing it had not
occurred to me that this film was a spectacle of the history of cinema. However, upon revisiting the
film with a more developed understanding of film history, I was delighted to be able to acknowledge
its nods and winks to the beginnings of cinema. Hugo, for me, represents an unorthodox marriage of
the cinematic celluloid tradition and the innovation of digital technologies, that ultimately highlights
the transition film has experienced. Tom Gunning writes that prior to 1906, film was most prominently
embraced as vehicle for exhibition and illusion, with narrative an accompanying element that simply
gave a means for the spectacle to take place . Hugo can be read as a continuation of this cinema of
attractions due to its utilisation of digital technology, 3D cinema and surround sound. The film,
especially the opening sequence short of the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris in the 1930s,
is an exhibition of what cinema can achieve in the twenty first century; a visual spectacle that elicits
excite from the spectator. However, the narrative of Hugo creates an often jarring experience as the
spectator becomes increasingly aware of the transformation cinema

Power In Robert Bolt s Play A Man For All Seasons
People in positions of power are always under scrutiny by those they rule. Despite their moves being
watched closely, rulers often have a deep seated inability to compromise their beliefs, thus corrupting
the government. In this day and age, it is far easier for the public to combat this ignorant worldview,
but in the time of King Henry VIII, this was nearly impossible. It took men in other positions of power
to stand against the king s will, but even this fared poorly for the dissenters. In Robert Bolt s play A
Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More was beheaded for his decision to remain silent on the matter of
the King s marriage. The leaders of England value More and view him as a man for all seasons, but

conclusions based on their knowledge of his faith and loyalty to the crown. It is within human nature
to judge others, and the less information provided, the wilder the inferences become. In this way, both
Henry VII and the king of Spain believed More to be a man for all seasons, but in reality, his morals

Over the course of the past few weeks, students have presented topics regarding pollution and
endangerment of species. However, one of the three most interesting topics for me was the red wolf.
This name is very peculiar, for you would expect it to be more scientific. However, it s sad story just
makes the name look irrelevant. The red wolf has been hunted down by early settlers, making it s
wildlife population to be fourteen. That is shocking, for this unique animal is suffering because of our
needs. However, the thing that caught my eye was not it s dire situation, but the fact that people are
working to help this animal thrive. The Red Wolf Recovery Program oversees the health of this
animal. Now, they are breeding them in captivity and

Zora Neale Hurston was able to offer a feminine opinion in a time when writing was primarily
dominated by males. This evidently demonstrated a difference in her work in comparison to her male
counterparts. For instance, During this time writers such as W.E.B. Du Bois and Langston Hughes
were analogous to black activist and spoke up for their race, discussing inequality and examining the
negative issues at play while offering strategies to combat those issues and bring about change. For
instance, Dubois spoke greatly about black upliftment through the process of higher education and
urged blacks to stand up for what they believed and not conform to passiveness. This is depicted when

A Research Study On Gm Crops
GM crops are created by inserting a gene externally from an foreign source into unrelated species.
This has granted an ability to overcome many physiological barriers and to exchange genetic
information among all living organisms. The purpose of genetic modification is to create a faster,
efficient, and much more precise way to achieve the same results from artificial selection.
Additionally, it can be used in order to introduce a new trait to the crop that would not be usually
naturally occurring.
These GM crops can have many beneficial traits that improves the overall profile of the plant this
includes: extended shelf life, drought tolerance, pesticidal/herbicidal resistance, and increased
nutritional yield, etc. Many GM crop examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, in order for geneticists to identify a gene of interest, they start by looking at other potential
organisms. The geneticist has to identify the trait they desire the organism to have and must find any
other organisms that already contain that gene. Finding a novel gene of interest requires intensive
research into that gene as well as luck. As an example, if a scientist wanted a gene that improved the
nutrient composition of a plant, they would look through many organisms that they believed that
produces that specific nutrient, additionally if a scientist wanted a crop to have a gene that allows it to
survive in drought conditions, they would most likely look for an organism living in those persistently
hotter conditions. Additionally, this also involves testing in order to find the organism with the most
ideal and worthy trait.
Secondly, in order to isolate a gene of interest, comparative gene analysis must be done in order to
locate and decode the specific organisms gene of interest. Whole genome alignment is done with
plants that have and do not have the gene to pinpoint the regions of difference, and if there are no pre
sequenced genomes available to perform comparison tests, scientists will use gene knockouts on the
plant genome till the characteristic of interest is gone, thus identifying the gene that generates the

How Free Government Grants Loans Are Available For People...
Free government grants loans are available for people who are in real need of money to fulfill their
needs. The recent economic recession has left most of the people in financial crisis and whether it is
business or house repair work, they need financial help to get these needs accomplished. Many people
either somehow manage with the deficits or look for some financial help. Nearly everyone out of these
is not in a position to repay the loans and so they hesitate to go for those options. There are various
government grants available for different needs and those who are aware of this opportunity, they
apply and try to get it. It is not easy to get the government grant money and you need lot of
preparation and make sure your timing is accurate. The main reason behind this is that most of the
grants are on first come first serve basis so as soon as you find that the grants suitable for your needs
are available, you should apply for them. Apart from this there are funds available through some
private and non profit organizations also which people can make use of. Free government grants loans
are of great help in this financially crucial situation. People are applying for it and the panel that is
appointed to look after the sanctioning of the grant application, makes sure that the money is provided
to real needy people. Whether you need money for the fulfillment of your business need or personal

In the book The Age Of Reason by Thomas Paine is about the knowledge of inquiring religious
establishments and their own doctrines. He wants the audience to think about the common gumptions
that can be seen and describe as a substantiation of a god, for instance from Christianity, Judaism, and
Islam. He calls for higher reasoning, a person who rejects the scriptures in the bibles that says we are
pretending to use the words of the god. Paine doesn t believe or agree with system of religion because

Paine lets us know that first and foremost, the writers were not hearing or seeing of the things they
were familiar with or they would have related to them without those contradictions. Therefore, the
books has yet to be composed by a persons named Apostles. Furthermore, he says that the writers have
no learning to purposeful inconvenience yet every writers independently and exclusively for himself,
and without the information of the others. (168)
Paine says that the contradictions main problem is the thought of a man can attach to the name of God,
is of a first reason for all things. It is troublesome for a man to imagine what a first cause is, whether
he touches base at the conviction of it distrusting it. It is hard to imagine that space can have no end
however it is more hard to consider an end. It is troublesome for a man to consider an endless term of
what we call time yet it is difficult to imagine a period when there might be no time. (47).
He uses empirical falsehood by expressing that if the convictions of errors are not bad, it is a mans
moral duty to remove and replace it.. There is no moral sickness in accepting the earth was flat, any
more than there was moral goodness that it is a round as a globe, there wasn t any more ill in believing

Amplify and forward cooperative communication scheme is modeled using Stackelberg market
framework, where a relay is willing to sell its resources; power and bandwidth to multi user in the
system in order to maximize its revenue. The relay determines the prices for relaying users
information depending on its available resources and the users demands. Subsequently, each user
maximizes its own utility function by determining the optimum power and the optimum bandwidth to
buy from the relay. The utility function of the user is formulated as a joint concave function of the
power and the bandwidth. The existence and the uniqueness of the Nash equilibrium is investigated

The relay re encodes the decoded message and then forwards it to the destination node [5] [7]. The
authors in [3], developed performance characterizations in terms of the outage events and the

for various systems and channel models [7]. Single and multiple relay selection were investigated, and
several SNR sub optimum multiple relay selection schemes with linear complexity in the number of
the relays were proposed in [8].
Game theory is a powerful tool to study interaction among self interested users, it is most used in
economics, operations research, political science, etc. [9]. In communication systems and networks

Should College Be Free
Today in America, college tuition is more expensive compared to what it was in the 80s and 90s. More
people rely on welfare and are living in poverty; they cannot afford college for their children. The first
two years of college should be provided free for everyone in America because there is a possibility
that some of the world s brightest minds could not afford the outlandish prices of college. Some
people do not believe this way because their taxes will go up and they think they should not have to
pay for someone else s child. These people have some good points as taxes will go up, but ultimately
they will be helping better the community by getting more educated people out into the world. The

The Importance Of STEM In Education
What is STEM? Despite the growing push for STEM, it is not well understood; there is little
consensus about what it is, how to integrate STEM into classroom instruction, and how STEM
learning can be assessed (Brown et al., 2011; Huntley, 1998; Pitt, 2009). Stakeholders who are
interested in promoting STEM are often confused by the construct. These stakeholders include
government officials who are funding STEM initiatives, teachers who are expected to teach STEM,
parents, businesses who need to invest in their future employment, and students (Breiner et al., 2012).
Although many studies have shown that teachers recognize the importance of STEM education,
educators do not consistently agree or understand what STEM education should be like in K 12
education (Wang et al., 2011). In a study by Brown et al. (2011) less than half of the teachers and
administrators correctly defined STEM as education involving science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics. Brown et al. (2011) mentioned that this may be an overestimate given that (a) some
participants did not understand the meaning of STEM and used the Internet to research it and some
teachers and (b) administrators revealed that they chose not to participate because they did not know
about STEM. Even higher education faculty who are involved in STEM projects had varying
definitions or conceptualizations of STEM (Breiner et al., 2012). Many of these faculty members
conceptualized STEM as individual STEM disciplines,

Youth Reflection Paper
Even in 2017 social injustice is very real. Many before have taken measures against this issue, but it s
still there. Over the past couple of week s, I ve taken notice to the events that have been going on in
the world. While keeping the question how can I change that in mind. It occurred to me that many of
the oppressors committing social injustices were victims themselves. They were not properly educated

So, I knew that s where I would start. The youth is the future and should be an improvement from the

Employee Remuneration
Chapter I
INTRODUCTION
1. MEANING OF WAGE/ COMPENSATION PAYMENT: Wage is a monetary payment made by the
employer to his employee for the work done or services rendered. It is a monetary compensation for
the services rendered [1]. A worker may be paid Rs. 100 per day or Rs. 4500 per month. This is wage
payment. The worker gives his services and takes payment called wage payment. Industrial workers
are paid remuneration for their services in terms of money called wage payment. Wages are usually
paid in cash at the end of one day, one month or one week. Money wage is the monetary compensation
or price paid by the employer to his employee for the services rendered. Such compensation is also

This is due to poverty, rising prices, mass unemployment and rising population. Wage payment indeed
a vexatious problem and needs to be tackled from economic, social and humanistic angles.
1.2 CONCEPT OF FAIR WAGES:
Fair wages is the wage which is above the minimum wage but below the living wage. Obviously the
lower limit of the fair wage is the minimum wage and the upper limit is set by the ability of the
industry to pay. Between these two limits, fair wages should depend on the factors like 1. Prevailing
rates of wages in the same occupation 2. Prevailing rates of wages in the same region or neighbouring
areas 3. Employers ability to pay 4. Level of national income and its distribution 5. Productivity of
labour 6. Status enjoyed by the industry in the economy
Hence it can be said that fair wages are determined on industry cum region basis. When fair wages are
paid employees enjoy higher standard of living. It is accepted fact that wages must be fair and
reasonable. Wages is fair when the employee is able to meet its essential needs and enjoy reasonable
standard of living. Equal pay for equal work serves as base of fair wage [4].
1.3 FACTORS INFLUENCING WAGE AND SALARY STRUCTURE [5] The organization s ability
to pay:
Wage increases should be given by those organizations which can afford them. Companies that have
good sales and therefore high profits tend to pay higher wages than those which are

Since the opposition has not addressed the issue of reforming the laws to lift the segregation based on
sex, it would be wise for them to act positively for legitimacy rule. In the United States, women
participated effectively in the World War II thus earning themselves the right to vote.
Those hoping for a change in Egypt at the exit of Hosni Mubarak are homeless children who have
been estimated to be about 50, 000 in the Cairo streets alone. During the protest, at least one street
child died in the chaotic moments by a gun shot. Another female street child was denied treatment at
the first hospital her friends took her after she was shot but was treated at the second one when they
saw she was in a critical condition. Save the Children organization have lamented at the difficulty in
helping the street children when they do not own any identification documents. The discriminatory
treatment towards the street children is not practiced by the government but even the hospitals thus for
a change to be evident, the whole population should change the attitude towards the homeless and less
privileged members of the society. The new regime is expected to tackle the issue of the street
children, offer them identification papers but most importantly health care and education is
paramount. Street children used to be arrested for lack of

History of Music in Horror Films Essay
A history of the sound in horror films
Horror films are known for their ability to scare audiences, to get the audience s hearts racing, their
blood rushing. A good horror film will cause viewers to be on the edge of their seats and having their
perception of reality distorted as they attempt to understand the unraveling plot of the horror film. The
tone of the film aides in the amount of suspense that a horror film produces, since a much darker film
will create a more suspenseful atmosphere than one that is more focused on campy monster makeup.
But the tone of a film is determined by the sound of the film, or in other words, the score. Sound or
music in a horror film, or the lack thereof, make the intense scenes and without the addition ... Show

The tones and sounds created centered around a central melody that was known as the monster s
music . This consistent score motif was characterized by harmonic, loud, crashing cords that featured
minor seconds and more drawn out tones.
This theme of monster music and a large emphasis on the final battle between good and evil continued
throughout most film and saw a resurgence in the late 70s and early 80s with slasher films. Nightmare
on Elm Street was one of the first slasher films to have a distinct theme that played throughout the
movie whenever there was a conflict between the slasher, Freddy Krueger and the final girl. These
songs were also some of the first to mirror the action on screen and create a strong symbolic tie
between the direction given by the director and the composing of the music.
During the final confrontation, Nancy in A Nightmare on Elm Street descends into the basement and
to mimic Nancy s movement the composer, Charles Bernstein, by having descending notes that follow
Nancy s movement into where we are led to believe Freddy resides. Without this ominous feel, the
movie would lack most of its punch. This is a grand example of one lackluster, albeit classic, horror
film that is somewhat saved by a stupendous score. The famous stalking trope for horror

Banning Books Essay
Name
Professor

The practice of censorship and banning of books in learning institution has been prevalent mostly due
to the explicit content incorporated in them. However, banning of certain books in pretense to conceal
content perceived inappropriate to impressionable children is an infringement of their right to access
information of their area of choice. While banning some book at times has valid reasons, it is
important to endorse and emphasize that every child has the liberty to select, at their discretion, which
book to read. While it is agreeable that parents and teachers should play a noble role in regulating
books that entail controversial topics as well as educating their children as their primary guardian,
their right does not extend to controlling and monitoring what children read ... Show more content on

Book censorship and bans only primes to conformity and thus limiting the variety and range of
expression as well as inquiry on which the philosophy depends. Banning and censoring reading
materials is capable of limiting the technological innovations, research as well as creativity. It is hence
the responsibility of the democracy to avail a diversity of views whether popular or unpopular and else
should not coerce the opinions and ideas of some while inhibiting the exertions of others (Memphis,
1). Rather than banning books content, publishers should rather give complete connotation to the
liberty of reading by providing books capable of enriching the diversity as well as the quality of
knowledge. Reading liberation is of diminutive consequence not unless the reader obtains materials
suiting their purposes. Books should hence not be banned due to diverse peoples conflicting views
either since one is not entitled to agree with what he reads but should rather learn from it. For instance,
history aids students in knowing the events that transpired to shape the world as it is

The Effects Of Fire On Different Types Of Vegetation
Introduction
Throughout the history of the world, fire has been a common phenomenon. It has been a constant
companion of humans ever since it was discovered by our ancestors. Wildfires can cause serious
damage, both to property and human life, but can also have various beneficial effects on wilderness
areas. Some plant ecosystems depend on the effects of fire for growth and reproduction, while large
wildfire can possibly have negative ecological effects. The irony is that fire can both be beneficial to
our survival and it can be a destructive force in its nature, which can threaten our very existence as
living organisms.
In South Africa, people have burnt and cleared vegetation resulting in the disturbance of the natural
succession of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The type of vegetation that is burned will classify the type of wildfire. Bush Fire, Brush Fire, Forest
Fire, Veld Fire, Desert Fire, Grass Fire, Hill Fire, Peat Fire and Vegetation Fire, are the main different
types of wildfires.
A wildfire differs in comparison to other fires by its extensive size, the rate at which it can spread from
its original source, its potential to redirect its direction unexpectedly, and its ability to jump across
roads, rivers and firebreaks. Wildfires are characterised by their physical properties such as speed of
propagation , the cause of ignition, the material that is combustible, and the effect of weather on that
specific fire.
Causes of Wildfires
Wildfires are not entirely natural features, hence, are quasi natural hazards. This means that they are
also caused by humans. The four most significant natural causes of wildfire ignitions are lighting,
volcanic eruption, sparks from rock falls and spontaneous combustions (A type of combustion that
occurs by self heating, followed by thermal runaway and finally, ignition occurs). The most frequent
human sources of wildfires are arson, thrown away cigarettes, sparks from working equipment and
power line arcs.
Fuel types for Wildfire
Wildfires spread based on the flammable material that is present, and its vertical arrangement. An
example of this would be, fuels uphill from a fire are more easily

Analysis of Bach´s Work Essay
Before actually going into the analysis of the actual piece itself, background information would be
helpful. The composition was written by Bach, and it is part of the sonatas and partitas for solo violin.
For this example, Partita II in d minor, movement I, Allemanda, will be discussed. Allemanda,
sometimes spelled allemande, derives from German and simply means dance. While there are various
tempos used, this movement is usually fast, around 120 beats per minute. Strip all the decorations and
ornaments, and there is a straight forward analysis. The piece begins and ends in D, cadencing to
tonic. There is an A halfway in between, creating a half cadence. In order words, this can be easily be
called a I V I, just like any other piece. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With numerous rhythms to choose from, along with a wide assortment of notes, it makes much more
sense why that G sharp is longer than that note or why this D is only one sixteenth note. Breaking
down each rhythmical pattern will create better understanding as to why some passages have more
emphasis than others. The four 16th pattern will start. Because they are the most frequent out of any
other rhythm type, it makes logical sense they are the star of the show. It is the milk when making a
strawberry smoothie. Without the milk, it would fall apart. Milk is the base that holds everything
together, like glue. The four 16th notes are the cohesion that binds the piece into a solid entity. A
milkshake would not be defined as a milkshake without the milk. It even has the word milk in it. This
highlights the importance of its significance. Substituting milk might work, but it diminishes the
effects of the creation. The second rhythm pattern is the one 16th/two 32nd/two 16th. What is the
difference between the first pattern and this one? This one has two 32nd notes. Both own three 16th
notes, so that one distinction is the only idea that makes it different. One clean might seem trivial, but
it establishes a notable contrast. They are the strawberries when making a strawberry smoothie. They
become second in command in terms of importance of the smoothie. It would make sense the
smoothie tastes of strawberry, does

Dirt Road Symbolism
Symbolism is an important part of any story. It can inspire emotions that captivate the reader,
foreshadow aspects of a story, or introduce you to how a character is portrayed. Nothing summarizes
these aspects of symbolism like O Connor does in the story, A Good Man is Hard To Find. Ranging
from the dirt road to the big black hearse, they inspire the truth to unfold like words could not do
otherwise.
The dirt road was hilly and there were sudden washes in it and sharp curves on dangerous
embankments (O Connor). The way the road is described suggests that it is a metaphor for the story
itself. The story did not start out calm and smooth just as the dirt road as described in the statement
above. Then, using the dirt road as the metaphor, it could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a big black battered hearse like automobile (O Connor). The black hearse represents death is
coming for them. The color black and hearses are usually indicators of funerals. With the car being
driven this way, it is implied that the driver may not be there to help them.
The Misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and shot her three times through the chest (O
Connor). The number of times the grandmother was shot is symbolic to Christ dying and His
resurrection three days later. All her life she was spiritually dead, until she physically died. At the
moment of her impending death, the grandmother experienced a spiritual uplifting. Just like Jesus
lifted from Earth back to Heaven.
After the entire family is murdered, a possible significance of the mention of five or six graves
becomes clear ( Flannery O Connor. Galileo. Web.). The car contained six people: Bailey, his wife, the
grandmother, June Star, John Wesley, and the baby. If the baby is buried with her mom, they will only
need five gravestones. If the baby is not buried with the mother, they will need

Proc 5820 Operations Management
As a Compass manufacturing company the organizational chart is very simplified. The positions are
depicted down to the manger level. The executive vice president reports directly to the chief executive
officer of Firebird Compass Tech. The marketing department manages customer demands. They also
generate future sales and manage partnership technology initiatives for future projects within the
navigation industry. The operations department manages people, schedules, equipment, technology,
materials and information. Planning and scheduling production for each month was determined by
operations management. The timing of packaging and delivering was forecasted and pushed through

As the compass progresses along the assembly line, plastic components are snapped together. Some
plastic components move through printers, which stamp them with markings such as the company
logo, or with scale markings for use with maps. This could cause the throughput to slow down if
defected parts are discovered. The Firebird Manufacturing facility is spread over 130,000 square feet
and has a capacity for producing over six million compasses each year. Firebird Compass matches
production capability to customer orders. The continuous analysis done weekly on the resources in the
plant is compared to meet the demand of the product so our obligations are fulfilled. Firebird employs
short term fixes to any imperfections in balance by hiring extra workers during a heavy production
cycle, plan a third shift for continuous operations, approve overtime at the worker level and sub
contract if necessary.
Production planning at Firebird is a key essential task with complimenting sub tasks requiring the
managers input for a successful operation. At Firebird modulating capacity is accomplished by
additional overtime and increasing the part time employees hired for the additional production needed.
Firebird has the capacity to meet the demands of the compasses that are ordered at frequent peaks
during the year. Firebird can achieve this demand with inventory buffers in the supply chain. By

The Implications of Current Child Policy for the Welfare of Children Children in the United Kingdom are key consumers of social policy. They consume a vast amount of the many services provided by this Country. Services such as health care through Doctors, hospitals and clinics, the education system which is largely devoted financially to the schooling of young people, and also the social security system which is stretched by children whose parents are in need of income support or family tax credit. There are a lot of films that unfortunately just didn t make it and we will be stating a few examples of them in just a few but let me just enlighten you as to why these films tend to flop. Why is there so much bias and discrepancies between reporting and why is society fine with this? Anyone who pays attention to the reporting that is going on, they would notice the first question, but do not take it a moment to question why the public or themselves allow it. • 12. How Did Civilization Differ From Ancient Civilization Throughout the centuries humans have greatly evolved. Originally nomadic tribes, people learned to settle down and form civilizations due to the Neolithic Revolution. During this time humans learned how to farm. This major discovery allowed us to create cities where we could rely on our own supplies and labor for food rather than moving around to follow and hunt animals for food. For this plan to work the people had to settle around the most ideal conditions for farming. Thus, most of the successful ancient civilizations were formed around rivers. Ancient Egypt and Ancient India were two of the greatest ancient civilizations and they relied on the rivers they were built around for a surplus of food, trade, and cultural diffusion. Woolf gives the reader so many details, seemingly ordinary ones such as Clarissa going to buy flowers for her party, mending her dress, meeting old acquaintances, etc. However, these everyday interactions (combined with the character s inner thoughts) create a very clear and complex image of social class, the perception of time, loneliness/being alone (not physically, but mentally because of self repression), and lastly, the devastating effects of war (as shown by Septimus s mental condition). Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It s common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a clearer relationship between shoe size and height when girls and boys are measured separately. The shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between height and shoe size. Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were from ages 16 18 years old. These students were picked based on convenience. This survey might be somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. (DeRosa 85) Also, they had a quick credit expansion for wooing the global capital for investment. As for the section of currency exchange, Thailand and Indonesia held the peg to the U.S dollar. Malaysia is little bit different: it did hold float exchange rate but that is essentially a sort of dirty float which means the government will influence the direction of exchange rate frequently to keep the exchange rate in a certain range. In anyway, those three countries tried to use relatively sturdy currency policy and quickly increasing economic environment to attract international capital. Admittedly, this function fairly functioning before the crisis, but there are some potential problems are still unsolved which made their economy not as sturdy as those countries thought ... • 25. Hugo Film Reflection Reflection #1 Hugo (Scorsese, 2011) What precisely is the cinema of attractions? First it is a cinema that bases itself on the quality that Leger celebrated: its ability to show something. Tom Gunning It was in a large, packed cinema that I first viewed Hugo in 2011. During this initial viewing it had not occurred to me that this film was a spectacle of the history of cinema. However, upon revisiting the film with a more developed understanding of film history, I was delighted to be able to acknowledge its nods and winks to the beginnings of cinema. Hugo, for me, represents an unorthodox marriage of the cinematic celluloid tradition and the innovation of digital technologies, that ultimately highlights the transition film has experienced. Tom Gunning writes that prior to 1906, film was most prominently embraced as vehicle for exhibition and illusion, with narrative an accompanying element that simply gave a means for the spectacle to take place . Hugo can be read as a continuation of this cinema of attractions due to its utilisation of digital technology, 3D cinema and surround sound. The film, especially the opening sequence short of the Gare Montparnasse railway station in Paris in the 1930s, is an exhibition of what cinema can achieve in the twenty first century; a visual spectacle that elicits excite from the spectator. However, the narrative of Hugo creates an often jarring experience as the spectator becomes increasingly aware of the transformation cinema ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite their moves being watched closely, rulers often have a deep seated inability to compromise their beliefs, thus corrupting the government. In this day and age, it is far easier for the public to combat this ignorant worldview, but in the time of King Henry VIII, this was nearly impossible. It took men in other positions of power to stand against the king s will, but even this fared poorly for the dissenters. Despite the growing push for STEM, it is not well understood; there is little consensus about what it is, how to integrate STEM into classroom instruction, and how STEM learning can be assessed (Brown et al., 2011; Huntley, 1998; Pitt, 2009). Stakeholders who are interested in promoting STEM are often confused by the construct. These stakeholders include government officials who are funding STEM initiatives, teachers who are expected to teach STEM, parents, businesses who need to invest in their future employment, and students (Breiner et al., 2012). Although many studies have shown that teachers recognize the importance of STEM education, educators do not consistently agree or understand what STEM education should be like in K 12 education (Wang et al., 2011). In a study by Brown et al. (2011) less than half of the teachers and administrators correctly defined STEM as education involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Brown et al. The four most significant natural causes of wildfire ignitions are lighting, volcanic eruption, sparks from rock falls and spontaneous combustions (A type of combustion that occurs by self heating, followed by thermal runaway and finally, ignition occurs). The most frequent human sources of wildfires are arson, thrown away cigarettes, sparks from working equipment and power line arcs. Fuel types for Wildfire Wildfires spread based on the flammable material that is present, and its vertical arrangement. An example of this would be, fuels uphill from a fire are more easily ... • 46. Analysis of Bach´s Work Essay Before actually going into the analysis of the actual piece itself, background information would be helpful. The composition was written by Bach, and it is part of the sonatas and partitas for solo violin. For this example, Partita II in d minor, movement I, Allemanda, will be discussed. Allemanda, sometimes spelled allemande, derives from German and simply means dance. While there are various tempos used, this movement is usually fast, around 120 beats per minute. Strip all the decorations and ornaments, and there is a straight forward analysis. The piece begins and ends in D, cadencing to tonic. There is an A halfway in between, creating a half cadence. In order words, this can be easily be called a I V I, just like any other piece. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With numerous rhythms to choose from, along with a wide assortment of notes, it makes much more sense why that G sharp is longer than that note or why this D is only one sixteenth note. Breaking down each rhythmical pattern will create better understanding as to why some passages have more emphasis than others. The four 16th pattern will start. Because they are the most frequent out of any other rhythm type, it makes logical sense they are the star of the show. It is the milk when making a strawberry smoothie. Without the milk, it would fall apart. Milk is the base that holds everything together, like glue. The four 16th notes are the cohesion that binds the piece into a solid entity. A milkshake would not be defined as a milkshake without the milk. It even has the word milk in it. This highlights the importance of its significance. Substituting milk might work, but it diminishes the effects of the creation. The second rhythm pattern is the one 16th/two 32nd/two 16th. What is the difference between the first pattern and this one? This one has two 32nd notes. Both own three 16th notes, so that one distinction is the only idea that makes it different. One clean might seem trivial, but it establishes a notable contrast. They are the strawberries when making a strawberry smoothie. They become second in command in terms of importance of the smoothie. It would make sense the smoothie tastes of strawberry, does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Dirt Road Symbolism Symbolism is an important part of any story. It can inspire emotions that captivate the reader, foreshadow aspects of a story, or introduce you to how a character is portrayed. Nothing summarizes these aspects of symbolism like O Connor does in the story, A Good Man is Hard To Find. Ranging from the dirt road to the big black hearse, they inspire the truth to unfold like words could not do otherwise. The dirt road was hilly and there were sudden washes in it and sharp curves on dangerous embankments (O Connor). The way the road is described suggests that it is a metaphor for the story itself. The story did not start out calm and smooth just as the dirt road as described in the statement above. Then, using the dirt road as the metaphor, it could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a big black battered hearse like automobile (O Connor). The black hearse represents death is coming for them. The color black and hearses are usually indicators of funerals. With the car being driven this way, it is implied that the driver may not be there to help them. The Misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and shot her three times through the chest (O Connor). The number of times the grandmother was shot is symbolic to Christ dying and His resurrection three days later. All her life she was spiritually dead, until she physically died. At the moment of her impending death, the grandmother experienced a spiritual uplifting. Just like Jesus lifted from Earth back to Heaven. After the entire family is murdered, a possible significance of the mention of five or six graves becomes clear ( Flannery O Connor. Galileo. Web.). The car contained six people: Bailey, his wife, the grandmother, June Star, John Wesley, and the baby. If the baby is buried with her mom, they will only need five gravestones. If the baby is not buried with the mother, they will need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the compass progresses along the assembly line, plastic components are snapped together. Some plastic components move through printers, which stamp them with markings such as the company logo, or with scale markings for use with maps. This could cause the throughput to slow down if defected parts are discovered. The Firebird Manufacturing facility is spread over 130,000 square feet and has a capacity for producing over six million compasses each year. Firebird Compass matches production capability to customer orders. The continuous analysis done weekly on the resources in the plant is compared to meet the demand of the product so our obligations are fulfilled.
