The Issue Of Child Soldiers
Every day, thousands of children around the world wake up in the morning, grab their shoes and
backpacks and head to school. Thousands of other children pick up their AK 47s and head to battle.
The issue of child soldiers is as complex as it is atrocious, and its heinous nature has prompted the
international community to pour vast amounts of time and resources into finding a solution. Despite
humanitarian and government organizations best efforts, the numbers have remained relatively static
over the decades, with over 300,000 underage combatants worldwide (Vautravers 96). Many scholars
have declared the U.N. s current policy as a failure and offered up proposals of their own, ranging
from placement of sanctions to international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the use of child soldiers is not a new occurrence, the real international push to end the practice
did not begin until the late eighties, with the 1989 Convention of the Rights of a Child, or the CRC. It
quickly gained over 190 signatures, making it one of the most ratified U.N. documents in history and
ushering in a new era that prioritized child rights and fought injustice (Singer 569). However, since
then the number of child soldiers has remained relatively stagnant, with 85 countries utilizing child
soldiers in armed groups as of 2004 (Kargbo 487).
Some scholars, such as P.W. Singer in his article, Talk is Cheap: Getting Serious about Preventing
Child Soldiers, would contend that current legislation lacks teeth, allowing militant groups to run
rampant and flout responsibilities without consequence. For example, a rebel group in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo, or DRC, promised not to use child soldiers, only to continue flaunting its
underage army weeks later (Singer 571). Since the U.N. lacks any methods of enforcing legislation
other than diplomatic pressure, which is rarely successful, armed groups will often deliberately
disregard standards set forth and receive little or no punishment. This, coupled with the fact that most
commanders these standards are aimed at are either illiterate or out of reach of state authority, makes
almost all current legislation useless (Kargbo 490). A possible solution that

Green Computing Research Part 5
Robert Dow
CIS 517 IT Project Management
Dr. Michael Falat
Strayer University
2013
The Green Computing research project is well underway and we have to select a research tool that will
help with quality control. The choices are Cause and effect diagrams, control charts, Run charts,
scatter diagrams, histograms, Pareto charts and flow charts. I am a huge fan of statistical analysis
however; it is not one of the seven tools we have to work with. Therefore, I have chosen the Pareto
Chart method to help with our quality control. A Pareto Chart will allow us to look at energy
consumption over a period of time and break it down to what was the major factor leading ... Show

Once the processes are categorized, then they can be prioritized. This is where the whole leadership
team gets involved, to include the stakeholders. Then these prioritized categories can be made into a
hierarchical structure with substance and value. This Pareto analysis chart is rather easy to produce in
Microsoft Excel, which is a good thing because I am fairly competent with the process using MS
Excel. We simply put in a table the consumption values during the determined period of study and
then turn it into a chart and you have a visual of the consumption periods. We can then find the highest
consumption periods and compare them to any changes or patterns differences from the lower periods.
Then these values can be re charted in another analysis chart to visually compare the major causes of
energy consumption. In conclusion, the Pareto analysis will allow us to identify the major energy
consumption issues or the major energy conservation savings factors and allow us to prioritize them in
a hierarchical manner. Then the decision making process can begin to work to reduce the overall costs
and save energy at the same time.

Essay On Periodic Swarms
Periodic spatiotemporal swarms mining periodic swarms, even though there are some redundant
periodic swarms. To solve this problem we use parsimonious periodic swarm mining method which is
more efficient and effective. In the Figure ref{example6}(a), we see that periodic swarms $(left
{o_1, o_2right}, left{T_1, T_3right}, L_1)$ and $(left{o_1, o_2right}, left{T_2, T_3right},
L_1)$ are subsumed by the periodic swarms $(left{o_1, o_2right}, left{T_1, T_2, T_3right},
L_1)$. Thus, we reduce redundant periodic swarms and find significant parsimonious periodic swarms
in the Figure ref{example6}(b). begin{figure}[htp] centering includegraphics[width = .9textwidth]

Therefore, the closed swarms are not greater than the number of long time spatiotemporal swarms.
Furthermore, mining parsimonious periodic swarms we use periodic swarms according to the
definitions ref{ps} and ref{parsimonious}. Parsimonious periodic swarms subsumed periodic
swarms. If any swarms are not subsumed by other swarms, then the number of parsimonious periodic
swarms equal to the number of periodic swarms, i.e., $|PPS|^{swarms}leq |PS|^{swarms}$.
Contrariwise, if some periodic swarms subsumed by other periodic swarms, then the number of
parsimonious periodic swarms is less than the number of periodic swarms that cause $|PPS|^{swarms}
|PS|^{swarms}$. begin{myex} Suppose, $min_{object}$ = 2, $min_{time}$ = 2, then the Figure
ref{example1}(d) and Figure ref{example1}(f) shows the number of long time spatiotemporal
swarms is 16. After mining closed swarms from long time spatiotemporal swarms in Figure
ref{example3}(b) depicts the number is 11 that is less than 16. Then, we mine 13 periodic swarms in
the Figure ref{example4}(b) that is less than 16 long time swarms. Finally, in the Figure
ref{example6}(b) we find 11 parsimonious swarms from the periodic swarms. Even though the
number of closed swarms and parsimonious periodic swarms are equal in

The Effects Of Divorce On Our Society
The United States is a country that takes pride in the fact that no matter what religion, race or sex you
are you can join together in the unity of marriage. Many people dream of growing up and marrying the
love of their life and having a family, but they do not take into consideration there are 2.3 million
marriages a year, with over 1.2 million divorces ( The Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). Divorce is
not limited to breaking apart the husband and wife; it destroys families, siblings and the future of the
American children. Divorces cause money, crime and education issues and an overall effect on the
children caught in the middle, which follows them into their adult life.
A $1,000 of taxpayer s money is spent dealing with the consequences of broken families ( The Impact
of Divorce on Our Society ). The amount of money spent in divorce procedures and in the long run is
astronomical. From divorce lawyers to child support, there is no denying this bonus part of life is
expensive. It impacts families as well as tax payers and the government. The median household net
worth is $132,000 for marrieds, $35,000 for singles, and $33,670 for divorced individuals ( The
Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). If people get married, they have a far better chance to earn a
comfortable living, but they have to stay together. If not, the taxpayers and government have to pay
consequences for divorces. If people took the time to make sure their partner was for life, then the
expense would

Ministry Reflection Paper
When you first begin a class you never know what to expect. When I first began Intro to Ministry, I
did not know the level of insight that I would have about myself and about the character of God. I
have been able to combine the things that have happened in my past and things that are happening
now to try to paint God s picture in my life to come. Although you do not need to pinpoint the exact
moment in time when you received your call for it to be legible, I am thankful that I do. I think it was
a series of people and events unfolding in my life and God opened my eyes to the plans He had for me
that lead me to that night. The day that I accepted my calling to be a youth pastor (December 30,2015)
I did not go into that evening thinking I m going to listen to God and go into Ministry but I guess you
never do. Since then God has been preparing me emotionally, physically, and mentally through
programs that I have gone through, people in my life such as my friends, family, and professors I have
gotten to know during the short time that I have been at Indiana Wesleyan. I am nowhere close to
being where I want to be but that is the beauty of accepting God s call into any type of ministry, you
do not have to have it all figured out, you just have to trust Him. God is a God of infinite variety, and
His call comes to people in many ways. (Drury, K. Pg.67). I didn t receive my calling in a damascus
road way, instead God knew my heart and character so He gave me my calling in a

What Really Caused The Nullification Crisis Of The South...
During the late 1820s, John C. Calhoun believed that the tariff of 1816 was responsible for the decline
of the South Carolina economy. Calhoun believed that if he developed the Theory of Nullification
people in his home state would view him differently. The Theory of Nullification is the idea that states
(unions) have the rights to void any law that is created by the government that is seen unconstitutional.
States are the foundation of the Union, so they have the power to refuse any unconstitutional laws, and
really states usually have the final say. What really caused the Nullification Crisis were many series of
Protective Tariffs. Protective Tariffs are taxes placed on imported goods that are from foreign
countries and their duty is to raise the price of foreign goods, making them less attractive to
consumers protecting them from foreign competition such as; The Tariff of 1816 that placed a 20 25
percent tax on foreign goods, The Tariff of 1824 which placed a 35 percent duty on imported iron,
wool, hemp, and cotton, finally the Tariff of 1828 which is also known as the Tariff of Abominations it
was the third protective tariff and increased taxes to almost 50 percent. European factories during
1816 were far more experienced and with that great capability American factories couldn t compare
because their factories were new, and with that major difference in prices America couldn t compare to
the Europeans. The government then decided that they should make the first

Superheroes In Watchmen
Watchmen is different from most superhero stories. For instance, the superheroes in Watchmen can be
considered outcast, unenjoyed by the people of the city. They have a much different reputation from
other superheroes we hear about, such as Batman and Superman. For example, this outcast theme is
seen when the citizens of the city throw shade at Dr. Manhattan for causing cancer (Moore 89 91), and
the constant fear when Rorschach appears (Moore 23). Furthermore, the government passed a law that
forbids them from existing in their superhero state. In other words, they are not glorified as seen in
other superhero depictions. After reading and seeing this within the first chapters of the graphic novel,
we must ask ourselves: Are the characters of

Staggering from the blow, he swung his staff rapidly in quick defensive movements as he struggled to
regain his balance. Seeing his opponent hopping backwards to avoid his wild swings he took a deep
breath to steady himself. That breath made him wince as pain lanced through his side, a sure sign that
the last strike had penetrated his screen. He hunched forward driving the staff into the ground as he
studied his adversary. The silver armor was dented all over, a particularly nasty furrow on one of his
greaves was probably why his nemesis was favoring his right leg and the half remnant of shield was
proof that he d given as much as he d received in this fight. The armored figure lowered his sword. An

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Speech Act Theory Essay
Ken Kesey forms the intricate relationships among the characters in the novel One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest by the unique use of perspective and speech. Throughout the novel, Kesey depicts this
connection between the public world and the seemingly closed off society inside the mental
institution. This creates two separate spheres separated by a few walls and doors. Kesey goes on to
form a unique perspective in the novel, told by a paranoid schizophrenic, with the narrator s caricature
like description of characters in the novel. This makes the audience ponder if the narrator is always
depicting images as they truly are. This evolves into the Speech Act Theory, which illustrates reality

Burke, a critical analyzer of the novel, characterized this by the act of drama . Specifically, dramatism
focuses on how we use language and create both real life and fictional narratives to present a
particular view of a situation, just as a play creates and presents a certain world or situation inhabited
by characters in the play (Rutten, 2012). Through the act of dramatism, the interactions in the novel
are shaped. This act of dramatizing insanity separates the social spheres of the normal and the insane
creating a social distinction between the two parties. They are perceived differently and immediately
receive a warning label when they are viewed as insane . Humans form this stereotype through our
adjusted, fixed attitudes towards people who are disabled . Rutten states A rhetorical perspective (on
the word disabled ) essentially enables an understanding of the complexity of impairment and
disability as a cultural/discursive as well as a social and structural phenomenon (Rutten, 2012). This
shows how society tends to suppress those who have mental illnesses and ignore them. They are
locked away in a mental institution, shielded from the public eye. The Speech Act Theory comes into
play when viewing the certain utterances said by patients in the mental institution. The theory focuses
on the distinction between performative and constative utterances (Bernaerts, 2010). Performative
utterances are

Primrose Oil Supplements Research Paper
The benefits of evening primrose oil supplements are something I have taken for my health for several
years now. I first found out about taking this supplement in my early 20 s. I read an article in a trashy
magazine one day on EPO for larger breasts. It said, taking evening primrose oil (EPO) for a time will
help improve bust size. As I was a small busted woman and yearned for the day my breasts would just
naturally enlarge on their own. I, of course, bolted out the door to buy my first bottle (1). Did my
breasts enlarge? Sadly no, they did not, fortunately with age comes acceptance of one s body and
despite the fact my breasts did not grow bigger. I do continue to this day to take EPO. The benefits of

On Collective Memory, By Maurice Halbwach
The central theme of Maurice halbwach in his book On Collective memory is the relationship between
memory and the society. This book constitutes nature, memories of individuals, social class and
religion. Not only is the nature of collective memory important but also the linguistic part of the
collectivity is also looked upon. Halbwach is of the view that memory is not static, it is a dynamic
one. It is because memory is continuously reconstructed and one of the medium is through language
with which they convey. Within the structure of family, class and religion there could be many
frameworks of memory working simultaneously. From the works of scholars like Emile Durkheim and
Henri Bergson, Maurice halbwach borrowed some ideas. Halbwach was ... Show more content on

it different from the one he knows and mane no sense to him. He found it hard to follow the historical

friends and vice versa. As it was difficult for him go along with people from other communities and
places, he was excluded from his friends collective memory and their memory from Halbwachs s. He
gives another example where after the disintegration of Soviet Union the history books showed the
biases as people who were killed then were now termed as heroes. Thus collective real memory was
shedding and reconstruction of new memories was taking place. The whole soviet history had to be re
written of the last 70 years. The books also demolished the old and real memories and new

My Grandfather, Albert S. Thanhauser
In 1952 my grandfather, Albert S. Thanhauser, waited in line with the incoming class of Air Force
soldiers in upstate New York as they prepared to enter the Korean War. Each quaking private
presented their papers to the stone faced officer at the front of the line, to receive their military
assignment. As my grandfather approached with his documentation, something peculiar happened.
Hmm... Thanhauser, muttered the gruff officer, M.O.T.? he asked quietly. A Brooklyn Jew, Al s eyes lit
up as he nodded and his papers were placed with the rest in the pile. M.O.T: Member of the Tribe, was
an instantly recognizable code of camaraderie amongst Jews. Two weeks after this encounter, the night
before being shipped off to Korea, Al received a memo: He was being pulled from the pack headed for
Hell and instead was shipped to Japan to set up a flight school at an American base. The two years he
spent on the airbase were some of the best of his life. Was this story was likely intended to instill me
with a connection to Judaism? Was it just another of my Grandpa s crazy stories? I had always focused
on the result of this story how it dramatically affected my grandfather s life. But as I have grown older,
the story has begun to resonate with me as beautiful demonstration of an act of kindness and virtue
that I learn and grow from.

Euripides Medea Comparison
In Diane Arnson Svarlien s translation of Euripides Medea, the playwright encrypted a hidden
message in the play Medea that portrays the same theme as J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the
Prisoner of Azkaban which are: identity, and relationship. To back this up, the first half of the play is
talking about the story of why Medea split up with Jason and Medea mentions that men, like Jason,
treats women with betrayal. She then clarifies the idea by saying disgraceful things about her husband
and ignores Jason s reasoning on why he has to marry off with someone. The reason why she is
considered as other is, she is misunderstood of the actions she had done such as murdering her
children while she was a little paranoid.
One way to prove Medea misunderstands her role as an other is, she is lacking at her citizenship
status. To give an example, according to lines 33 39, Friends talk to her, try to give her good advice;
she listens the way a rock does or an ocean wave. At most, she ll turn her pale neck aside, sobbing to
herself for her dear father, her land, her home, and all that she betrayed for Jason, who now holds her
in dishonor. Medea gave all the effort she can in order to help Jason to retrieve his golden fleece
before this melodrama happened. Eventually, she exiled the first time when she falls in love with
Jason and exiled again due to Jason s Betrayal. Speaking of Jason s Betrayal, Medea doesn t know
what Jason is up to at first because she married off with Jason

John Knowles s A Separate Peace
In the first few chapters of A Separate Peace alone, Gene Forrester is John Knowles. In the first
chapter, Gene is a grown man fifteen years in the future. He describes Devon School in the summer
session in 1942. Devon School is rarely mentioned in the book. In A Separate Peace: The War Within
the chronology states that in 1943, a year older than the book, he too went to a summer session at
Exeter Academy (Bryant, xi). Knowles, too had a tree that he and other boys jumped off of, but he
broke his foot and had to be on crutches (Bryant, xi). This book is a rough autobiography of his life.
Gene and the author John Knowles will be explained as WWII in their eyes, the symbolism of
Phineas, and the school and the older Gene. In A Separate Peace, the summer session is for seniors
who are training for the war. Gene and Phineas are sixteen and not eligible for the draft. As the book
states, they jump off the tree used for diving in the river. Gene says in the book The tree was
tremendous, an irate, steely black steeple beside the river. I d be damned if I climbed it (Knowles, 14).
Similar to the book, Knowles probably thought the same thing after he broke his foot.
In The War Within, Bryant states that A Separate Peace can be read as a war book. With this in mind,
it was only about two boys who were not of drafting age, but one to two years before it. In the summer
session, the teachers are a little less strict, but only to the boys under eighteen. Even then, the boys

Socrates and Civil Obecience or Disobedience
Essay: A Discussion on whether or not I believe that Socrates views in the Crito contradict his views

My position: I am in disagreement with this statement and my analysis, based on contextual evidence,
is as follows:
Although I could argue the question posited above from either position, as many have done before
and, as many will continue to do after me, I do not believe that Socrates waivers in his beliefs between
the two accounts according to Plato. The contradiction, it seems, focuses on whether or not Socrates is
a proponent of civil (dis)obedience, and the apparent conflict between the two works revolves around
passages from the Apology, that seem to be in opposition to his stated ... Show more content on

To further bolster his position, Socrates does not fail to point out to the jury that these other men are
applauded for doing such service to the city of Athens when he states, Each of these men can go to any
city and persuade the young, who can keep company with any one of their own fellow citizens they
want without paying.......pay them a fee, and be grateful to them besides (Apology 19e 20a). Since
there does not seem to be a legal problem with them, and they have not been accused of these crimes,
Socrates should not even be standing trial on what is clearly trumped up charges, and attempting to
have a man executed unjustly (Apology 30d).

side from what seems to be Socrates overt contempt for the rulings of the courts, as stated in the above
mentioned examples, there are numerous other examples in the Apology defending my belief that
Socrates views, compliance of Athenian law, are consistent throughout both works in question. In a
passage located in (19a) of the Apology, Socrates not only refutes the charges against him regarding
his proported atheism but summarily solidifies his position as one who clearly is concerned with
obeying the law. In this passage he states, Even so, let the matter proceed as the god may wish, but I
must obey the law and make my defense. In yet another example, Socrates describes a situation in the

Summary Of A Mockingbird By Kathryn Erskine
Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine is a thought provoking fiction novel about a young girl with autism
who is trying to find her place in this world while also dealing with the after effects of the death of her
older brother. Mockingbird is a revealing story that allows one to look inside the mind of a child with
autism. Caitlin, the main character, has Asperger s Syndrome, a term that was still widely in use at the
time of the book s publication. Caitlin is high functioning and extremely smart, but lacks appropriate
social skills and has difficulty reading others emotions. As a younger child, she would flap her hands,

pressure of wrapping her arms tight around herself in upsetting situations. Caitlin also tends to suck on
her sleeve for comfort. Frustration or confusion has triggered what the book refers to as a Tantrum

she is typically unable to stop the behavior on her own. Caitlin is fully verbal and has no physical
impediments or aids for communication. Her primary barriers to communication are her social
awkwardness, bluntness, difficulty making eye contact, and misunderstanding of non literal language.

Defintion Essay
Defintion Essay Is it Possible to Define Art?
Art is the intentional use of some medium to communicate emotions or ideas between minds. Some
combination of the five senses is used to conduct information, so art may take the form of music,
painting, sculpture, dance, and others. Art may be collaborative, as with the presentation of a
symphony, which may involve a composer, a conductor, players, and a lighting crew all working to
create the art of the presentation. Also, art occurs in at least one level of abstraction removed from
reality, a representation of the real thing.
There is no requirement of beauty in art. Indeed, some of the highest quality in art is attained by some
of the ugliest things. An example is the film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I experience Samuel Barber s Adagio with my brother, the message I receive is clear, but it is
not the same as the message my brother receives. It is likely that Samuel Barber intended neither.
Nevertheless, the piece is effective art, since it communicates messages.
Even so, there must have been some intention with which Barber wrote the piece. In general, art must
be the creation of a mind, or group of minds, with at least one purpose. As such, art is never an
accident, whereas it may have some accidental effects on certain members of an audience. The
requirement that art have some purpose from the artist rejects the notion that computers can create art.
Computers may be used as a medium for people to create art, and computers may create what
resembles art, but computers cannot create art.
Another characteristic of art is its necessary element of impracticality. That is not to say that artistic
things cannot be practical; rather, there must be some part of the piece that does more than simply
serve a function. For example, ordering a cheeseburger at McDonald s is an intentional use of the
medium of a voice to communicate a message (the desire for food) between two minds (the customer
and the server). However, it seems somewhat clear that this extreme case does not constitute a work of
art. Still, it would be possible to compose a vocal piece of music that qualifies as art, even if the words
are still, I d like a Big Mac, please. The art enters

Deformity In Jekyll And Hyde
Dr. Henry Jekyll in Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) seems to be an enthusiastic
scientist just as Shelley describes Victor Frankenstein. Though Victor Frankenstein reports his own
story to Captain Walton, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is narrated by different points of
view, mainly from lawyer Utterson, a close friend of Jekyll and in charge of executing Jekyll s last
will. Thus, no background of Jekyll is provided. It is only mentioned that he lives in a splendid home
in 19th century London with multiple rooms and a laboratory, and that he has servants to his dispose.
When Utterson first meets Hyde, he is described as someone unnormal with evil hints. His exterior
generates feelings of disgust and even unease to other characters. His deformity is described on a
physical and on a moral level (and thus, differs from the depiction of Frankenstein s creature): Mr.
Hyde was pale and dwarfish, he gave an impression of deformity without any nameable malformation,

While Hyde may be seen as merely an embodiment of evil ( ... and Edward Hyde, alone in the ranks
of mankind, was pure evil. , Stevenson, 78), there can also be the interpretation that it is only the side

neglect of emotions is a result of acting or pretending to be a gentleman: ... I concealed my pleasures
and that when I reached years of reflection, and began to look round me and take stock of my progress
and position in the world, I stood already committed to a profound duplicity of life. (Stevenson 73).
Hyde can be regarded as monstrous as he disregards other humans shown in the way he treats them
(e.g. the murder of Carew and overrunning the child). Other than Frankenstein s creature, Hyde is an
insider of society who puts a threat upon

The Role Of The Insula In Sylvian Language
1) The insula is defined as a large cortical region stretched along the floor of the Sylvian fissure
(Kemmerer, 2013. Ch. 6 p. 33). Because the insula is a more hidden structure, it has only recently
received attention for its role in language and speech. Damage to the insula is rarely caused in
isolation, making it difficult to determine whether deficits are solely associated with insula damage or
other areas. A growing number of studies have proposed that the insula plays a role in complex
articulatory coordination and syntactic encoding. In combination the available evidence on the insula
support its role in the following areas: AOS, word repetition, production of complex clusters,
pseudowords, and non native syllables, word inflection, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wise et al. (1999) used positron emission tomography (PET) with 12 normal patients who completed
three speech related tasks. Results showed the left anterior insula was activated during repetition of
words. Studies also show that anterior insula activity is correlated with increased complexity of
consonant cluster production (e.g., /s/ is less complex then /st/). An fMRI study by Bohland Guenther
(2006) best demonstrated this. They used tri syllabic words with varying cluster sequence complexity
as stimuli. Activation was seen in the left insula, and this activity enhanced as complexity of clusters
increased. It has also been suggested that the insula plays a role in production of sound sequences that
are novel to the speech system, such as pseudowords and non native syllables. Shuster (2009) found
the anterior insula activation during repetition of pseudowords compared to repetition of real words.
During Moser et al. s (2009) study, normal speakers produced three syllable words that contained
either non native or native syllables. Greater activation in the left anterior insula was found during non
native syllable repetition. Further, activation was greatest during the first 10 minutes of the
experiment, and decreased slightly during the second 10 minutes, suggesting again, that novel
articulatory patterns enhance anterior insula activation. The evidence proposed by Shuster and Moser
emphasize that the insula plays a role in novel articulatory patterns, which is different from well
practiced

Channel Estimation And Blocking Probability For Multi Hop...
The paper presents the design of channel estimation and blocking probability for multi hop wireless
communication network (MH WCN). This work proposed a bidirectional network coding 4−hop
transmission strategy and followed by 2N−hop WCNs. The proposed method follows two steps.
Firstly, assign composite channel coefficients at desired nodes and then derived the MSE performance
expression for the proposed LMMSE estimation scheme, and an optimal training scheme has been
designed to minimize MSE. Secondly, Fault tolerant wavelength assignment algorithm. This method
checks for the establishment of fault free path, when path established, assign a particular wavelength
to the established path. The experimental results shows the LMMSE, blocking probability and ML
estimators have demonstrated effectiveness to improve the estimation accuracy in 4−hop WCNs.
Index term: Fault tolerant wavelength assignment algorithm, Multi hop wireless communication
networks, mobile social networks, network coding, channel estimation.
I. INTRODUCTION
In recent years, there has been significant advances in wireless networking. Such advances are
improved by the demand of new practical and military applications as well as advances in wireless
communication technology at the communication layer. These new advances at upper and lower layers
in communication have brought many new research problems for networking researchers. Among
these problems, a fundamental problem is to determine performance limits and

The Prague Spring, Solidarity Movement, And The Fall Of...
There were many events that led to the fall of the Soviet Union. In my opinion, the most important
events that led to the fall of the Soviet Union were the Romanian Revolution, Velvet Revolution,
Prague Spring, Solidarity Movement, and the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The Romanian Revolution was
the 5th most important event because it was important revolution that resulted in many causalities.
The Velvet Revolution (4th most important) was a major event in the fall of the Soviet Union and was
also a non violent one. The Prague Spring (3rd most important) showed that the Soviet Union wasn t
happy to give up it s republics and satellites. The Solidarity Movement (2nd most important) was the

them.
The Solidarity movement in Poland occurred in 1980 and was the first event that led to the fall of the
Soviet Union. Solidarity was a trade union that was fighting for better working conditions. It
eventually became a politically party and demanded reforms.
The Prague Spring took place in Czechoslovakia in 1968. They tried to reduce the control the Soviet

the Soviets they wouldn t leave the Warsaw Pact but despite this, the Soviets sent troops to

A Brief Note On Wildlife Photography, And For Good Reason
Wildlife photography is a very popular area to specialise in, and for good reason. It gives you a great
excuse to spend extended periods of time outdoors, keeps you fit, and allows you to develop a real
appreciation for the natural world. But it can also be a very challenging field too, especially since your
subject is often running away from you! I m going to share with you 15 of my top tips so that you can
start improving your wildlife photos straight away. Hopefully by the end of this article you ll have
learnt something new that will help you on your journey to becoming the next Art Wolfe. 1. Shoot on
Eye level When you re standing up and shooting an animal on the ground, your angle of view is
pointing downwards. This detracts from the photo, making the perspective seem strange. It also
decreases the distance between the subject and the background, getting rid of your chance for that
nice, soft bokeh (background). Instead, get onto eye level with your subject. It brings the viewer down
onto the animal s level, creating a much more interesting perspective. It will most likely increase the
distance between the subject and the background too, removing distracting elements by throwing the
backdrop out of focus. 2. Learn About Your Subject Getting to know the animal you re photographing
can be a really helpful trick. If you know about an animal s typical behavioural traits, then you will be
able to predict movements or particular things you can focus on capturing.

The availability of a system can be expressed through this calculation:
(Actual uptime)/(Expected uptime) ×100%
The result of this calculation is expressed in terms of the number of 9s (see Table A1). This calculation
shows the availability percentage, which is often expressed in number 9 s, and what it means for an
organization in terms of possible uptime or downtime. Because of the nature of the business that
CASH supports, it is imperative for them to have system availability of close to 99.999% (Tuttle,
2012).
In a volatile and technology dependent business climate, downtime, whether it is planned or
unplanned would cost a fortune to the company (Quintero, Finnes, Herrera, Shankar, Sigel, 2010, p.
1). Due to the firm s global presence and business operations being held 24 hours and six days per
week, the downtime during peak hours could mean the loss of revenue for the firm in terms of
millions of dollars per minute. In order to prevent any type of data or connection loss for their clients,
a set of High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) must be in place for a firm like CASH
(Quintero et al., 2010).
Disaster Recovery
Disaster Recovery is the process an organization uses to recover access to their software, data, and/or
hardware that are needed to resume the performance of normal, critical business functions after the
event of either a natural disaster or a disaster caused by humans (Disaster Recovery) The goal for any

additional thing you should do is to take a few shots. This would help you to test the exposure and
general set up. If you are contented with the settings for the photo shoot, you can begin your indoor

great beneficiary of the transatlantic slave trades lucrative process and labour. As you probably are

when the Portuguese gained interest in Africa for reasons other than its legendary supply of gold, to a
more profitable and attainable commodity; slaves. Now before I begin to regale you with the
tantalising tales of the transatlantic slave trade, I shall inform you of how it has successfully been
working for the past months. Due to our highly intelligent and superior nature, we employ the
triangular trade as our very efficacious programme. The transatlantic slave trade is composed of three
distinct stages. It involves three great continents and establishes a wonderful sense of unity and
harmony, as we are all benefitting from this affluent commercial and economic enterprise. Hence, it
could even be referenced in later history that this was the first system of globalization, which is a
righteous and virtuous mention. The first phase of this glorious route involves taking factory made
merchandises from Western Europe to Africa. These comprise of cloth, spirit, tobacco, beads, cowrie

Ides Of March Essay
The Ides of March: A dreaded day of disaster, universally associated with doom and tragic events. The

Analysis of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell Essay
Analysis of To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell
Andrew Marvell s elaborate sixteenth century carpe diem poem, To His Coy Mistress , not only speaks
to his coy mistress, but also to the reader. Marvell s suggests to his coy mistress that time is inevitably
rapidly progressing and for this he wishes for her to reciprocate his desires and to initiate a sexual
relationship. Marvell simultaneously suggests to the reader that he or she should act upon their desires
as well, to hesitate no longer and seize the moment before time, and ultimately life, expires. Marvell
makes use of allusion, metaphor, and grand imagery in order to convey a mood of majestic endurance
and innovatively explicate the carpe diem motif.

His love is so great it would, ?grow vaster than empires? (11 12). Although Marvell tries to equate his
love for his mistress to plants, his argument is undermined by a plant?s biological incapableness of
contemplation and reciprocal physical affection. Nevertheless, the speaker continues his praises of
love, but points out that there is not enough time for further praise because time is passing quickly.
The poem then acquires a more serious tone when the poem loses its exaggerations and
embellishments. He reassures his coy mistress that ?you deserve this state? of praise and high
acknowledgment,
But at my back I always hear
Time?s wingèd chariot hurrying near. (21 22)
Rather than explicitly saying death is near, Marvell substitutes life?s bleakness with a ?winged
chariot.? He slowly becomes more frustrated with her ?long preserved virginity? and tires to inform
his mistress that death is near and they still have not had intercourse. His frustration can be seen in his
sexual pun on the word ?quaint? which symbolically refers to female genitalia. The intense imagery of
genitalia is again echoed when Marvell describes to his coy mistress that even after death the ?worms
shall try that long preserved virginity? (27 28). Here the worms take on a phallic symbol, reinforcing
his sexual desires. The speaker abstractly states that holding onto her virginity will do her no good
because she will be

Human Resource Management Of An Organization Essay
Graschl (2011) commented on the essential piece of information that Human Resource Management
of an organization is one of the integral part of the organization that helps in maximizing the
performance of the employees for meeting the objectives of the organization. In this contemporary
world, the importance of hotel and hospitality industry is increasing in a rapid rate and hence
managing the people within the hotels and restaurants is now a major concern. This is because, it is
generally seen that the hospitality industries that deals with the welfare and satisfaction of the

The Positive Effects Of Globalization And Technology On...
The Positive Effects of Globalization and Technology on Business
Tz Han Chen
ILSC Toronto
Since 2007s, business has been influenced by globalization and technology deeply, and the huge scale
of global market and convinced network service have been built by it. For example, greater frequency
of building different types of new business models was brought about by advanced technology and
global marketing, and the new product or service which is based on these business model improve
quality level of people s life. Even though globalization and technology result in secure problem from
network and the high stress in competition, the trade opportunities, outsourcing jobs and competition
affect raising the scale of global marketing and increasing the quality of people s life.
By the time of raising the scale of the global marketing, the high level of marketing competition and
multinational companies occupying the local marking contribute to decreasing the local companies
profit, and high demand in excellent human resources effects the local companies having little
opportunities to transfer their company to multinational companies and high risk to lose their market.
However, the high competition promotes the improvement of advanced technology and products, and
it brings about the new marketing and job of opportunity. For example, artificial intelligence is one of
the greatest invention in the world. In the past, the word of artificial intelligence only appeared in
science fiction and it mean robots have the human behavior (Future of Life Institute, n.d.), but now it
can easily be found in people s life such as Google s search, IBM s Watson and independent weapon
(Future of Life Institute, n.d.). After artificial intelligence was invented, new companies and an
amount of related job were created, and due to similar business model, these companies promote their
competition to raising the scale of marketing and technology. Thus, the high competition was caused
by globalization and technology.
Besides, multinational companies sell their services and products based on the internet and add their
advertising into the social media to attract current and potential customers. After that, it makes a

mission to provide the public with health insurance and services. Overtime there have been a great
deal of historical highlights that shape what Human Health Services is today. Today we have
Medicare, Medicaid, and ACA, which demonstrate the time line and evolution of health insurance.
Lets go to the beginning it all started in 1798 an act of passage was provided for seamen who were ill
and disabled. This paved the way for many health discoveries, health technology, and modern day
medicines. The creation of the ACA helped drive and initiate many other different agencies and
divisions that were later established. Moreover Human Health Services provides and offers many
health programs to the citizens. Most of these programs cater to employees, disabled, and low income
families. Also the HHS is one earns highest amount in grants, it is said that they are grant making

Studying At New York University
If you are going to be passionate about something, be passionate about learning. This belief that
Knowledge is power has dawned on me from the very young age. My father who had struggled to
impart good education early in his life, had to start working at a very young age of 17 but he never
gave up on education. Today he holds 2 degrees of MA and MBA and still continues to do his PhD
from a distant learning at the age of 54. I realized that to excel in life, it is essential to keep learning,
and that work and learning are a continuum. I aspire to further my knowledge in the field of
Information Systems from New York University. My immediate goal is to develop my potential by
further improving my technical knowledge and skills through higher learning provided by a sustained
period of graduate studies; followed by working in an organization that can positively utilize my
abilities and help in overall economic and social development. I firmly believe that studying at New
York University would help me apply my knowledge and create innovative technological solutions to
solve socio economic problems. A structured environment will not only improve my skills but also
hone my enthusiasm to affect the critical process of change that development entails. For an engineer
it is utmost importance to become an erudite in his field. Management Information Systems gives me

Positive Outcomes Of Reconstruction
At the end of the Civil War slavery was outlawed by the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and the
blacks was finally free. In the South there was a sense of anger and shame in losing the war. The
Reconstruction era was put into effect by Congress in 1866 and lasted until 1877. Reconstruction was
aimed at reorganizing the Southern states after the Civil War. The reconstruction plan granted the
means for readmitting the southern states into the Union, and tried to come up with the methods by
which whites and blacks could live together in a non slave society. However during reconstruction the
United States government took actions to protect freedman and with each action the south countered
with actions that would try to eradicate the laws put in place by the winning northern forces for
example, the infamous Jim Crow Laws. The law segregated the whites and the blacks, thus can be
commonly heard as separate is not equal. The Reconstruction was still seen as a success towards the

Rhetorical Analysis Of T-Mobile Dropped The Balls
Right or Wrong: A Rhetorical Analysis of T Mobile Dropped the Balls T Mobile, also known as the
Un Carrier , is said to be one of the world s best phone carriers. This commercial was released during
the Superbowl solely to introduce to the audience watching, how much more greater and how many
more LTE towers they have than any other phone carriers. By using proven statistics T Mobile
Dropped The Balls persuasively encourages the responsible aged audience to join the carrier with the
most LTE towers. This Ad is started by a spokeswoman providing facts. The facts that were provided
to the audience are not accurate, primarily because it was used to catch the eye of the ones watching.
Steve Harvey, The man that is known worldwide due to the fact that he crowned the wrong Miss
Universe in 2015, was brought out to fix the mistake made by the spokeswoman since after all, she did
announce the old T Mobile stats. After apologizing for a mistake that was not made by himself, Steve
Harvey quickly corrected the mistake made by the spokeswoman, by saying that he was going to read
the correct facts of off his notecard. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Importance Of The Reproductive Neurendocrine Prochans In...
The evidence in the literature suggests that the reproductive neuroendocrine axis is centrally regulated
through inputs from kisspeptin expressing neurons to GNRH expressing neurons, which afterward
regulate the release of LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary [Aki et al., 2015]. Kisspeptin primarily
participates in the regulator of the reproductive axis performed its capability to operate upon, and
evoke GNRH neurons, which have been shown to express GPR54 [d Anglemont and Colledge, 2010].
Vaccination with kisspeptin DNA vaccine results in the production of anti kisspeptin antibodies that
suppress GNRH and block the synthesis of testicular steroids and reduce kisspeptin concentration
level in the blood. The result of the current study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These findings suggested that P234 vaccination modulated the median eminence kisspeptin kiss1r
signaling take part in the kisspeptin stimulated testosterone release and may not passed the blood brain
barrier. Furthermore, plasma kisspeptin, LH, and FSH levels in controls are significantly increased
relative to animals with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism [Kotani et al., 2014]. Moreover, kisspeptin
54 concentration level in the blood of control group was significantly higher than treatment group
[Messager et al., 2005]. Further, peptide 234 suppressed the synthesis of GNRH in both prepubertal
and pubertal monkeys [Guerriero et al., 2012] and administration of peptide 234 delays the onset of
puberty in rodents [Pineda et al., 2010]. Beale et al., [2014] reported that the maintenance of ARC
kisspeptin concentration is crucial for normal LH pulsatile release and estrous cycle and decrease the
LH pulse frequency. Administration of kisspeptin antagonist reduced LH secretory response to
intracervical vaccine immunization of kisspeptin. This cumulative evidence indicates that the
kisspeptin antagonist inhibited GNRH neuron and would reduce hypothalamus GNRH secretion in
vivo.
Hypothalamus, pituitary, and testicular tissues were collected to quantify mRNA levels using qPCR.
Accordingly, kisspeptin, Kiss1r, and GNRH mRNA concentrations in the hypothalamus were
significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P

Nt1310 Unit 3 Project Part 2 Types Of Equipment
Project Part 2: Types of Equipment There are various types of equipment that the company should
look for when considering this network. The first item to look at when considering equipment is the
Operating system and software that we would need. Next, the group took into consideration the type
of server the company needs to make this network a reality. Another thing that we looked at is the
possibility of having ThinClients over regular desktops for all workstations. Of course, it was taken
into consideration that some employees would not want ThinClients. So, we show the type of tower
we plan to place into those spaces, along with any peripheral device for both. Then, we will look at the
network devices that will go into each building that include switches, routers, repeaters, hubs, and
wireless access points. Finally, the group will note guidelines for choosing a local ISP at each site.
Each Item outlined helps to build a network based on the specifications given by the company.
The Operating System
The best operating system for this company running on thin clients would be Linux. Some of the
advantages Linux are the cost. There is zero cost to download and maintain the Linux system. Not
only is Linux free to download on multiple computers, there is also the advantage of updated or
modern versions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this device means that there is plenty of support for the firewall, and it should stay up to date on
various attack strategies. The device is the Cisco ASA 5510. This device is a tried and tested Intrusion
Prevention System. It offers much throughput from the ISP while still actively protecting the network

Self Reflection On My Writing And Learning Process Essay
Self reflection on my Writing and Learning Process
I think self reflection, or a careful cogitation of one s personal work, is very important. It will help me
think about my strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills and learning process, so that I can
improve my weaknesses in the future and become a better writer. I believe, I have many strengths and
many weaknesses that can be seen transparently through my drafts, revisions, and final essays, or
writings, this semester. My overall strength includes the ability to pick out good examples from
articles and the ability to construct good development of my body paragraphs after my revisions. On
the other hand, my overall weakness includes having some unclear explanation of thoughts, unclear
topic sentences, confusing thesis statements, having undefined terms, difficulties transitioning from
one idea to another. I have learned that to have a good essay, I must revise my papers more than once
because there are always flaws that can be fixed or improved. My writing process has evolved from
having difficulties writing down or explaining my thought process to being able to explain and clarify
examples to help support my thesis statement.
I am good at picking quotes that will support my argument. This skill can be seen through multiple
drafts that I have written. For instance, in assignment 1, draft 1, I claimed that Richard Rodriguez is
rude when describing his opponents. For my quotes, I pulled negative words that Rodriguez used

How The Family Influence In Joyce Carol Oates Where Are...
In Joyce Carol Oates Where are you going, where have you been, family influence is shown to be a
key factor in the molding of a child s character, who they are. Connie, the protagonist of Oates short
story, missed out on this key due to lack in positive family influence. Connie, insecure and vulnerable,
was led straight into the arms of Arnold, because her family belittled her, caused her dual personality
and omitted proper guidance.
First of all, Connie s parents played no role in improving her self image. Connie s mother, having aged
out of her prime, was jealous of her daughter s beauty, criticizing her whenever the opportunity
presented itself. Connie s mother would yell at her younger daughter, Stop gawking at yourself, who
are you? You think you re so pretty? (312). This constant scolding chipped away at Connie s
confidence, leaving her yearning for affirmation, someone to say she is such a pretty girl ... Show

Much like a corrupted computer file, Connie created a new image, one that broke away from the
corrupted indoor Connie, Everything about her had two sides to it, one for home and one for anywhere
that was not home (313). Proving that life could be better, Connie went out shopping or to a movie
often, not because they provided temporary entertainment to kill time, but to watch as boys want her.
One night in midsummer they ran across [to a restaurant], breathless with daring, and right away
someone leaned out a car window and invited them over, but it was just a boy from high school they
didn t like. It made them feel good to be able to ignore him (313). Knowing that someone wanted her
satisfied her need to be praised. However, this left her vulnerable to people who prayed on the
insecurities of others. Arnold Friend was quick to discover the psychological conflict of living a split

The Association Between Obesity And Elevated Levels Of C...
Background
A number of previous studies examine the association between obesity and elevated levels of C
reactive protein (CRP), which is an inflammation and an indicator marker of cardiovascular disease.
Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), or waist to hip ratio (WHR), were used as
measures of obesity. These measures were classified based on the normal, overweight or obese
participant in most previous studies. However, these categorizations might lead to drop information.
This study aims to investigate a flexible nonlinear approach such as Fractional polynomial models
(FPs), to examine the association between obesity and C reactive protein to select the best fitted model
within 44 potentially FP models.
Methods
This study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The association between the ln(CRP) and BMI when estimated using the fractional polynomial
regression model exhibited a J shaped pattern for women and men. The J shape did not change for the
difference ethnicity. The women have more risk for elevated CRP level compared to men. A deviance
difference test yielded a significant perfection in model fit of 2 and 2 compared to other BMI
functions.
Conclusion
The fractional polynomial regression model shows a robust compared to categorization or other linear
or nonlinear models (e.g. quadratic model) for BMI. The model might be useful for other health
outcomes.
Introduction
Obesity is considered as one of the main factors that influence the healthy and unhealthy people. It has
also been linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD) either in childhood or in adulthood. In recent time,
inflammation is considered as one of the main majors of the initiation and development of CVD. C
reactive protein (CRP) has been proved to be one of the important inflammatory markers for
predicting CVD risk. Besides, obesity is considered as one of the risk factors that potentially is a
reason of the CVD.
A few cross sectional studies examine the association between CRP and obesity, and they found a
significant relationship. A systematic review study investigates the association between the CRP and
obesity by using body mass index measure

Acana Research Paper
According to an overview of Acana dog food reviews, Acana dog food is a top quality food for dogs
manufactured by Champion Pet Foods in Canada. This is the same company that makes Orijen dog
food, another top quality dog food which is often claimed to be one of the very best of all dog foods
by experts. Acana is similar in many ways to Orijen although, unlike Orijen, it usually has a somewhat
lower protein percentage, though still higher than most dog foods. Both brands contain lots of meat
ingredients.
Champion Pet Foods
Champion Pet Foods is located in Alberta, Canada. According to their web site they are family owned
and operated and have been making pet food for 25 years. Acana is sold in 45 countries and is
certified by the Canadian government to meet all international pet food ... Show more content on

Tonic herbs include chicory, burdock root, stinging nettle, milk thistle, sweet fennel and chamomile,
among others. As you might expect, Acana is higher in protein than most dog foods. It s not unusual
for their foods to be 65 percent protein. Acana dog foods are typically preservative free.
Negatives
With so much meat protein, Acana also costs more than most dog foods. A 15.4 pound bag of Acana
Ranchlands Grain Free dry dog food is $42.99 on one web site. Acana can also be hard to find in the
United States since it is a Canadian food.
Your local pet store may not carry it. It is definitely a boutique food. However, you can usually buy it
from the pet food delivery sites, as long as you are willing to pay the delivery charges. This will
further increase the cost of the food.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a great dog food that focuses on high meat protein and low carbs, then you
probably can t do much better than Acana. It has the very highest quality ingredients which are almost
all locally raised and the food is preservative free. This is an outstanding food but it is quite expensive
and can be hard to

Social Disorganization Theory And The Strain Theory
The two theories I chose are The Social Disorganization Theory and The Strain Theory. Social
Disorganization theory was created by Clifford R. Shaw and Henry D. McKay. They wanted to know
why certain areas in certain communities were continuously high in crime year after year. They found
that the change or high turnover disrupted the community and caused the communities to be unstable.
Social Disorganization Theory has two main sections, the three causes of neighborhood deterioration
and the zones model. There is also a modern theory that adds to Social Disorganization by Robert
Sampson. He says that social ties play a major role in the theory. Formal and informal ties to the
community can help determine if they care or are invested in the ... Show more content on

One similarity is how both Social Disorganization Theory and Strain Theory can be specific to the
situation. Social Disorganization Theory is specific to the inner most part of cities and Strain Theory is
specific to an individual situation. Another similarity would be how both theories explain why crime
occurs in the situations they occur in. One difference between the two theories is, while they can be
specific to the situation, the situations that they occur in are very different. The Social Disorganization
theory is specific to communities and Strain Theory is specific to an

The Impact Of Modern Social Workers On The Community
Introduction Modern social workers participate actively in helping people to obtain rights, services,
benefits and opportunities that they might not otherwise obtain through micro policy advocacy, ?often
prioritize the needs of vulnerable populations when they engage in advocacy? (Jansson, 2016, p. 21).
Through community immersion, the social worker gains an understanding of the community attributes
and desiderata, requiring them to utilize their experience and expertise to advocate policies that will
satisfy the client?s needs (NASW, n.d.). Furthermore, when social workers immerse themselves in the
community, it becomes an act of care and concern to serve the community. Compelling them to
implement new changes, depict workable intervention schemes, and generate attainable treatment
plans to satisfy the needs of the individuals, families and community. The community that will be
addressed in this paper is National City. It is located five miles south of downtown San Diego and ten
miles away from the US Mexico border in Tijuana.
National City is divided into three sub communities based on their regional parks: Kimball, El Toyon
and Las Palmas (KTU+A, 2014). Because of National City?s unique location in close proximity to
downtown San Diego, it is considered an urban city, as defined by Jannson (2016), with a lot of
commercial activity and impoverishment. Depending on the social worker?s role, knowledge on the
type of community is crucial; when there is a deficit of

  • 2. The Issue Of Child Soldiers Every day, thousands of children around the world wake up in the morning, grab their shoes and backpacks and head to school. Thousands of other children pick up their AK 47s and head to battle. The issue of child soldiers is as complex as it is atrocious, and its heinous nature has prompted the international community to pour vast amounts of time and resources into finding a solution. Despite humanitarian and government organizations best efforts, the numbers have remained relatively static over the decades, with over 300,000 underage combatants worldwide (Vautravers 96). Many scholars have declared the U.N. s current policy as a failure and offered up proposals of their own, ranging from placement of sanctions to international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the use of child soldiers is not a new occurrence, the real international push to end the practice did not begin until the late eighties, with the 1989 Convention of the Rights of a Child, or the CRC. It quickly gained over 190 signatures, making it one of the most ratified U.N. documents in history and ushering in a new era that prioritized child rights and fought injustice (Singer 569). However, since then the number of child soldiers has remained relatively stagnant, with 85 countries utilizing child soldiers in armed groups as of 2004 (Kargbo 487). Some scholars, such as P.W. Singer in his article, Talk is Cheap: Getting Serious about Preventing Child Soldiers, would contend that current legislation lacks teeth, allowing militant groups to run rampant and flout responsibilities without consequence. For example, a rebel group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or DRC, promised not to use child soldiers, only to continue flaunting its underage army weeks later (Singer 571). Since the U.N. lacks any methods of enforcing legislation other than diplomatic pressure, which is rarely successful, armed groups will often deliberately disregard standards set forth and receive little or no punishment. This, coupled with the fact that most commanders these standards are aimed at are either illiterate or out of reach of state authority, makes almost all current legislation useless (Kargbo 490). A possible solution that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay Cis 517 Case Study 3 Green Computing Research Part 5 Robert Dow CIS 517 IT Project Management Dr. Michael Falat Strayer University 2013 The Green Computing research project is well underway and we have to select a research tool that will help with quality control. The choices are Cause and effect diagrams, control charts, Run charts, scatter diagrams, histograms, Pareto charts and flow charts. I am a huge fan of statistical analysis however; it is not one of the seven tools we have to work with. Therefore, I have chosen the Pareto Chart method to help with our quality control. A Pareto Chart will allow us to look at energy consumption over a period of time and break it down to what was the major factor leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the processes are categorized, then they can be prioritized. This is where the whole leadership team gets involved, to include the stakeholders. Then these prioritized categories can be made into a hierarchical structure with substance and value. This Pareto analysis chart is rather easy to produce in Microsoft Excel, which is a good thing because I am fairly competent with the process using MS Excel. We simply put in a table the consumption values during the determined period of study and then turn it into a chart and you have a visual of the consumption periods. We can then find the highest consumption periods and compare them to any changes or patterns differences from the lower periods. Then these values can be re charted in another analysis chart to visually compare the major causes of energy consumption. In conclusion, the Pareto analysis will allow us to identify the major energy consumption issues or the major energy conservation savings factors and allow us to prioritize them in a hierarchical manner. Then the decision making process can begin to work to reduce the overall costs and save energy at the same time. • 4. Essay On Periodic Swarms Periodic spatiotemporal swarms mining periodic swarms, even though there are some redundant periodic swarms. To solve this problem we use parsimonious periodic swarm mining method which is more efficient and effective. In the Figure ref{example6}(a), we see that periodic swarms $(left {o_1, o_2right}, left{T_1, T_3right}, L_1)$ and $(left{o_1, o_2right}, left{T_2, T_3right}, L_1)$ are subsumed by the periodic swarms $(left{o_1, o_2right}, left{T_1, T_2, T_3right}, L_1)$. Thus, we reduce redundant periodic swarms and find significant parsimonious periodic swarms in the Figure ref{example6}(b). begin{figure}[htp] centering includegraphics[width = .9textwidth] {figure/p2pp.eps} ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the closed swarms are not greater than the number of long time spatiotemporal swarms. Furthermore, mining parsimonious periodic swarms we use periodic swarms according to the definitions ref{ps} and ref{parsimonious}. Parsimonious periodic swarms subsumed periodic swarms. If any swarms are not subsumed by other swarms, then the number of parsimonious periodic swarms equal to the number of periodic swarms, i.e., $|PPS|^{swarms}leq |PS|^{swarms}$. Contrariwise, if some periodic swarms subsumed by other periodic swarms, then the number of parsimonious periodic swarms is less than the number of periodic swarms that cause $|PPS|^{swarms} |PS|^{swarms}$. begin{myex} Suppose, $min_{object}$ = 2, $min_{time}$ = 2, then the Figure ref{example1}(d) and Figure ref{example1}(f) shows the number of long time spatiotemporal swarms is 16. After mining closed swarms from long time spatiotemporal swarms in Figure ref{example3}(b) depicts the number is 11 that is less than 16. Then, we mine 13 periodic swarms in the Figure ref{example4}(b) that is less than 16 long time swarms. Finally, in the Figure ref{example6}(b) we find 11 parsimonious swarms from the periodic swarms. • 5. The Effects Of Divorce On Our Society The United States is a country that takes pride in the fact that no matter what religion, race or sex you are you can join together in the unity of marriage. Many people dream of growing up and marrying the love of their life and having a family, but they do not take into consideration there are 2.3 million marriages a year, with over 1.2 million divorces ( The Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). Divorce is not limited to breaking apart the husband and wife; it destroys families, siblings and the future of the American children. Divorces cause money, crime and education issues and an overall effect on the children caught in the middle, which follows them into their adult life. A $1,000 of taxpayer s money is spent dealing with the consequences of broken families ( The Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). The amount of money spent in divorce procedures and in the long run is astronomical. From divorce lawyers to child support, there is no denying this bonus part of life is expensive. It impacts families as well as tax payers and the government. The median household net worth is $132,000 for marrieds, $35,000 for singles, and $33,670 for divorced individuals ( The Impact of Divorce on Our Society ). If people get married, they have a far better chance to earn a comfortable living, but they have to stay together. If not, the taxpayers and government have to pay consequences for divorces. • 6. Ministry Reflection Paper When you first begin a class you never know what to expect. When I first began Intro to Ministry, I did not know the level of insight that I would have about myself and about the character of God. I have been able to combine the things that have happened in my past and things that are happening now to try to paint God s picture in my life to come. Although you do not need to pinpoint the exact moment in time when you received your call for it to be legible, I am thankful that I do. I think it was a series of people and events unfolding in my life and God opened my eyes to the plans He had for me that lead me to that night. The day that I accepted my calling to be a youth pastor (December 30,2015) I did not go into that evening thinking I m going to listen to God and go into Ministry but I guess you never do. Since then God has been preparing me emotionally, physically, and mentally through programs that I have gone through, people in my life such as my friends, family, and professors I have gotten to know during the short time that I have been at Indiana Wesleyan. I am nowhere close to being where I want to be but that is the beauty of accepting God s call into any type of ministry, you do not have to have it all figured out, you just have to trust Him. God is a God of infinite variety, and His call comes to people in many ways. (Drury, K. Pg.67). • 7. What Really Caused The Nullification Crisis Of The South... During the late 1820s, John C. Calhoun believed that the tariff of 1816 was responsible for the decline of the South Carolina economy. Calhoun believed that if he developed the Theory of Nullification people in his home state would view him differently. The Theory of Nullification is the idea that states (unions) have the rights to void any law that is created by the government that is seen unconstitutional. States are the foundation of the Union, so they have the power to refuse any unconstitutional laws, and really states usually have the final say. What really caused the Nullification Crisis were many series of Protective Tariffs. Protective Tariffs are taxes placed on imported goods that are from foreign countries and their duty is to raise the price of foreign goods, making them less attractive to consumers protecting them from foreign competition such as; The Tariff of 1816 that placed a 20 25 percent tax on foreign goods, The Tariff of 1824 which placed a 35 percent duty on imported iron, wool, hemp, and cotton, finally the Tariff of 1828 which is also known as the Tariff of Abominations it was the third protective tariff and increased taxes to almost 50 percent. European factories during 1816 were far more experienced and with that great capability American factories couldn t compare because their factories were new, and with that major difference in prices America couldn t compare to the Europeans. They have a much different reputation from other superheroes we hear about, such as Batman and Superman. For example, this outcast theme is seen when the citizens of the city throw shade at Dr. Manhattan for causing cancer (Moore 89 91), and the constant fear when Rorschach appears (Moore 23). • 10. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Speech Act Theory Essay Ken Kesey forms the intricate relationships among the characters in the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest by the unique use of perspective and speech. Throughout the novel, Kesey depicts this connection between the public world and the seemingly closed off society inside the mental institution. This creates two separate spheres separated by a few walls and doors. Kesey goes on to form a unique perspective in the novel, told by a paranoid schizophrenic, with the narrator s caricature like description of characters in the novel. This makes the audience ponder if the narrator is always depicting images as they truly are. This evolves into the Speech Act Theory, which illustrates reality versus false utterance. Through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Burke, a critical analyzer of the novel, characterized this by the act of drama . Specifically, dramatism focuses on how we use language and create both real life and fictional narratives to present a particular view of a situation, just as a play creates and presents a certain world or situation inhabited by characters in the play (Rutten, 2012). Through the act of dramatism, the interactions in the novel are shaped. This act of dramatizing insanity separates the social spheres of the normal and the insane creating a social distinction between the two parties. They are perceived differently and immediately receive a warning label when they are viewed as insane . Humans form this stereotype through our adjusted, fixed attitudes towards people who are disabled . Rutten states A rhetorical perspective (on the word disabled ) essentially enables an understanding of the complexity of impairment and disability as a cultural/discursive as well as a social and structural phenomenon (Rutten, 2012). This shows how society tends to suppress those who have mental illnesses and ignore them. They are locked away in a mental institution, shielded from the public eye. The Speech Act Theory comes into play when viewing the certain utterances said by patients in the mental institution. The theory focuses on the distinction between performative and constative utterances (Bernaerts, 2010). Performative utterances are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I first found out about taking this supplement in my early 20 s. I read an article in a trashy magazine one day on EPO for larger breasts. It said, taking evening primrose oil (EPO) for a time will help improve bust size. As I was a small busted woman and yearned for the day my breasts would just naturally enlarge on their own. I, of course, bolted out the door to buy my first bottle (1). Did my breasts enlarge? • 12. On Collective Memory, By Maurice Halbwach The central theme of Maurice halbwach in his book On Collective memory is the relationship between memory and the society. This book constitutes nature, memories of individuals, social class and religion. Not only is the nature of collective memory important but also the linguistic part of the collectivity is also looked upon. Halbwach is of the view that memory is not static, it is a dynamic one. It is because memory is continuously reconstructed and one of the medium is through language with which they convey. Within the structure of family, class and religion there could be many frameworks of memory working simultaneously. From the works of scholars like Emile Durkheim and Henri Bergson, Maurice halbwach borrowed some ideas. Halbwach was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As it was difficult for him go along with people from other communities and places, he was excluded from his friends collective memory and their memory from Halbwachs s. He gives another example where after the disintegration of Soviet Union the history books showed the biases as people who were killed then were now termed as heroes. Thanhauser, waited in line with the incoming class of Air Force soldiers in upstate New York as they prepared to enter the Korean War. Each quaking private presented their papers to the stone faced officer at the front of the line, to receive their military assignment. As my grandfather approached with his documentation, something peculiar happened. Hmm... Thanhauser, muttered the gruff officer, M.O.T.? he asked quietly. A Brooklyn Jew, Al s eyes lit up as he nodded and his papers were placed with the rest in the pile. M.O.T: Member of the Tribe, was an instantly recognizable code of camaraderie amongst Jews. Two weeks after this encounter, the night before being shipped off to Korea, Al received a memo: He was being pulled from the pack headed for Hell and instead was shipped to Japan to set up a flight school at an American base. The two years he spent on the airbase were some of the best of his life. Was this story was likely intended to instill me with a connection to Judaism? Was it just another of my Grandpa s crazy stories? I had always focused on the result of this story how it dramatically affected my grandfather s life. But as I have grown older, the story has begun to resonate with me as beautiful demonstration of an act of kindness and virtue that I learn and grow from. Euripides Medea Comparison In Diane Arnson Svarlien s translation of Euripides Medea, the playwright encrypted a hidden message in the play Medea that portrays the same theme as J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban which are: identity, and relationship. To back this up, the first half of the play is talking about the story of why Medea split up with Jason and Medea mentions that men, like Jason, treats women with betrayal. She then clarifies the idea by saying disgraceful things about her husband and ignores Jason s reasoning on why he has to marry off with someone. The reason why she is considered as other is, she is misunderstood of the actions she had done such as murdering her children while she was a little paranoid. One way to prove Medea misunderstands her role as an other is, she is lacking at her citizenship status. To give an example, according to lines 33 39, Friends talk to her, try to give her good advice; she listens the way a rock does or an ocean wave. At most, she ll turn her pale neck aside, sobbing to herself for her dear father, her land, her home, and all that she betrayed for Jason, who now holds her in dishonor. Medea gave all the effort she can in order to help Jason to retrieve his golden fleece before this melodrama happened. • 15. John Knowles s A Separate Peace In the first few chapters of A Separate Peace alone, Gene Forrester is John Knowles. In the first chapter, Gene is a grown man fifteen years in the future. He describes Devon School in the summer session in 1942. Devon School is rarely mentioned in the book. In A Separate Peace: The War Within the chronology states that in 1943, a year older than the book, he too went to a summer session at Exeter Academy (Bryant, xi). Knowles, too had a tree that he and other boys jumped off of, but he broke his foot and had to be on crutches (Bryant, xi). This book is a rough autobiography of his life. Gene and the author John Knowles will be explained as WWII in their eyes, the symbolism of Phineas, and the school and the older Gene. In A Separate Peace, the summer session is for seniors who are training for the war. Gene and Phineas are sixteen and not eligible for the draft. As the book states, they jump off the tree used for diving in the river. Gene says in the book The tree was tremendous, an irate, steely black steeple beside the river. I d be damned if I climbed it (Knowles, 14). Similar to the book, Knowles probably thought the same thing after he broke his foot. • 16. Socrates and Civil Obecience or Disobedience Essay: A Discussion on whether or not I believe that Socrates views in the Crito contradict his views expressed in the Apology. My position: I am in disagreement with this statement and my analysis, based on contextual evidence, is as follows: Although I could argue the question posited above from either position, as many have done before and, as many will continue to do after me, I do not believe that Socrates waivers in his beliefs between the two accounts according to Plato. The contradiction, it seems, focuses on whether or not Socrates is a proponent of civil (dis)obedience, and the apparent conflict between the two works revolves around passages from the Apology, that seem to be in opposition to his stated ... To further bolster his position, Socrates does not fail to point out to the jury that these other men are applauded for doing such service to the city of Athens when he states, Each of these men can go to any city and persuade the young, who can keep company with any one of their own fellow citizens they want without paying.......pay them a fee, and be grateful to them besides (Apology 19e 20a). Since there does not seem to be a legal problem with them, and they have not been accused of these crimes, Socrates should not even be standing trial on what is clearly trumped up charges, and attempting to have a man executed unjustly (Apology 30d). A side from what seems to be Socrates overt contempt for the rulings of the courts, as stated in the above mentioned examples, there are numerous other examples in the Apology defending my belief that Socrates views, compliance of Athenian law, are consistent throughout both works in question. In a passage located in (19a) of the Apology, Socrates not only refutes the charges against him regarding his proported atheism but summarily solidifies his position as one who clearly is concerned with obeying the law. Summary Of A Mockingbird By Kathryn Erskine Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine is a thought provoking fiction novel about a young girl with autism who is trying to find her place in this world while also dealing with the after effects of the death of her older brother. Mockingbird is a revealing story that allows one to look inside the mind of a child with autism. Caitlin, the main character, has Asperger s Syndrome, a term that was still widely in use at the time of the book s publication. Caitlin also tends to suck on her sleeve for comfort. Frustration or confusion has triggered what the book refers to as a Tantrum Rage Meltdown or TRM (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). During these self harming events, she is completely consumed and is unable to hear what anyone is saying. At one point, Caitlin becomes upset with Mrs. Brook for engaging in eye contact with her for too long and she proceeds to hide under the table where she starts to run her fingers across the wood, as her finger starts to bleed she continues to rub harder and harder in an effort to erase the blood (Erskine, 2010, p. 18). • 19. Defintion Essay Defintion Essay Is it Possible to Define Art? Art is the intentional use of some medium to communicate emotions or ideas between minds. Some combination of the five senses is used to conduct information, so art may take the form of music, painting, sculpture, dance, and others. Art may be collaborative, as with the presentation of a symphony, which may involve a composer, a conductor, players, and a lighting crew all working to create the art of the presentation. Also, art occurs in at least one level of abstraction removed from reality, a representation of the real thing. There is no requirement of beauty in art. Indeed, some of the highest quality in art is attained by some of the ugliest things. An example is the film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I experience Samuel Barber s Adagio with my brother, the message I receive is clear, but it is not the same as the message my brother receives. It is likely that Samuel Barber intended neither. Nevertheless, the piece is effective art, since it communicates messages. Even so, there must have been some intention with which Barber wrote the piece. In general, art must be the creation of a mind, or group of minds, with at least one purpose. As such, art is never an accident, whereas it may have some accidental effects on certain members of an audience. The requirement that art have some purpose from the artist rejects the notion that computers can create art. Computers may be used as a medium for people to create art, and computers may create what resembles art, but computers cannot create art. Another characteristic of art is its necessary element of impracticality. That is not to say that artistic things cannot be practical; rather, there must be some part of the piece that does more than simply serve a function. For example, ordering a cheeseburger at McDonald s is an intentional use of the medium of a voice to communicate a message (the desire for food) between two minds (the customer and the server). However, it seems somewhat clear that this extreme case does not constitute a work of art. Still, it would be possible to compose a vocal piece of music that qualifies as art, even if the words are still, I d like a Big Mac, please. The art enters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though Victor Frankenstein reports his own story to Captain Walton, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is narrated by different points of view, mainly from lawyer Utterson, a close friend of Jekyll and in charge of executing Jekyll s last will. Thus, no background of Jekyll is provided. It is only mentioned that he lives in a splendid home in 19th century London with multiple rooms and a laboratory, and that he has servants to his dispose. When Utterson first meets Hyde, he is described as someone unnormal with evil hints. His exterior generates feelings of disgust and even unease to other characters. • 22. The Role Of The Insula In Sylvian Language 1) The insula is defined as a large cortical region stretched along the floor of the Sylvian fissure (Kemmerer, 2013. Ch. 6 p. 33). Because the insula is a more hidden structure, it has only recently received attention for its role in language and speech. Damage to the insula is rarely caused in isolation, making it difficult to determine whether deficits are solely associated with insula damage or other areas. A growing number of studies have proposed that the insula plays a role in complex articulatory coordination and syntactic encoding. In combination the available evidence on the insula support its role in the following areas: AOS, word repetition, production of complex clusters, pseudowords, and non native syllables, word inflection, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wise et al. (1999) used positron emission tomography (PET) with 12 normal patients who completed three speech related tasks. Results showed the left anterior insula was activated during repetition of words. Studies also show that anterior insula activity is correlated with increased complexity of consonant cluster production (e.g., /s/ is less complex then /st/). An fMRI study by Bohland Guenther (2006) best demonstrated this. They used tri syllabic words with varying cluster sequence complexity as stimuli. Activation was seen in the left insula, and this activity enhanced as complexity of clusters increased. It has also been suggested that the insula plays a role in production of sound sequences that are novel to the speech system, such as pseudowords and non native syllables. Shuster (2009) found the anterior insula activation during repetition of pseudowords compared to repetition of real words. During Moser et al. s (2009) study, normal speakers produced three syllable words that contained either non native or native syllables. Greater activation in the left anterior insula was found during non native syllable repetition. Further, activation was greatest during the first 10 minutes of the experiment, and decreased slightly during the second 10 minutes, suggesting again, that novel articulatory patterns enhance anterior insula activation. The evidence proposed by Shuster and Moser emphasize that the insula plays a role in novel articulatory patterns, which is different from well practiced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The paper presents the design of channel estimation and blocking probability for multi hop wireless communication network (MH WCN). This work proposed a bidirectional network coding 4−hop transmission strategy and followed by 2N−hop WCNs. The proposed method follows two steps. Firstly, assign composite channel coefficients at desired nodes and then derived the MSE performance expression for the proposed LMMSE estimation scheme, and an optimal training scheme has been designed to minimize MSE. Secondly, Fault tolerant wavelength assignment algorithm. This method checks for the establishment of fault free path, when path established, assign a particular wavelength to the established path. It brings the viewer down onto the animal s level, creating a much more interesting perspective. It will most likely increase the distance between the subject and the background too, removing distracting elements by throwing the backdrop out of focus. 2. For example, greater frequency of building different types of new business models was brought about by advanced technology and global marketing, and the new product or service which is based on these business model improve quality level of people s life. Even though globalization and technology result in secure problem from network and the high stress in competition, the trade opportunities, outsourcing jobs and competition affect raising the scale of global marketing and increasing the quality of people s life. By the time of raising the scale of the global marketing, the high level of marketing competition and multinational companies occupying the local marking contribute to decreasing the local companies profit, and high demand in excellent human resources effects the local companies having little opportunities to transfer their company to multinational companies and high risk to lose their market. However, the high competition promotes the improvement of advanced technology and products, and it brings about the new marketing and job of opportunity. For example, artificial intelligence is one of the greatest invention in the world. In the past, the word of artificial intelligence only appeared in science fiction and it mean robots have the human behavior (Future of Life Institute, n.d.), but now it can easily be found in people s life such as Google s search, IBM s Watson and independent weapon (Future of Life Institute, n.d.). This definition of dualism and duality provide a great foundation to what I am attempting to portray as one of the biggest themes in the book The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde Robert Lewis Stevenson. Dualism and the idea of duality are the main theme I would like to focus on in this essay. In reality, the duality of man is often analyzed as merely a possibility. We tryto investigate this facet of human behavior and spend much time trying to determine the ways that a dual personality can affect people. In the South there was a sense of anger and shame in losing the war. The Reconstruction era was put into effect by Congress in 1866 and lasted until 1877. Reconstruction was aimed at reorganizing the Southern states after the Civil War. The reconstruction plan granted the means for readmitting the southern states into the Union, and tried to come up with the methods by which whites and blacks could live together in a non slave society. However during reconstruction the United States government took actions to protect freedman and with each action the south countered with actions that would try to eradicate the laws put in place by the winning northern forces for example, the infamous Jim Crow Laws. The evidence in the literature suggests that the reproductive neuroendocrine axis is centrally regulated through inputs from kisspeptin expressing neurons to GNRH expressing neurons, which afterward regulate the release of LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary [Aki et al., 2015]. Kisspeptin primarily participates in the regulator of the reproductive axis performed its capability to operate upon, and evoke GNRH neurons, which have been shown to express GPR54 [d Anglemont and Colledge, 2010]. Vaccination with kisspeptin DNA vaccine results in the production of anti kisspeptin antibodies that suppress GNRH and block the synthesis of testicular steroids and reduce kisspeptin concentration level in the blood. Moreover, kisspeptin 54 concentration level in the blood of control group was significantly higher than treatment group [Messager et al., 2005]. Further, peptide 234 suppressed the synthesis of GNRH in both prepubertal and pubertal monkeys [Guerriero et al., 2012] and administration of peptide 234 delays the onset of puberty in rodents [Pineda et al., 2010]. Beale et al., [2014] reported that the maintenance of ARC kisspeptin concentration is crucial for normal LH pulsatile release and estrous cycle and decrease the LH pulse frequency. Administration of kisspeptin antagonist reduced LH secretory response to intracervical vaccine immunization of kisspeptin. This cumulative evidence indicates that the kisspeptin antagonist inhibited GNRH neuron and would reduce hypothalamus GNRH secretion in vivo. The first item to look at when considering equipment is the Operating system and software that we would need. Next, the group took into consideration the type of server the company needs to make this network a reality. Another thing that we looked at is the possibility of having ThinClients over regular desktops for all workstations. Of course, it was taken into consideration that some employees would not want ThinClients. So, we show the type of tower we plan to place into those spaces, along with any peripheral device for both. Then, we will look at the network devices that will go into each building that include switches, routers, repeaters, hubs, and wireless access points. Finally, the group will note guidelines for choosing a local ISP at each site. Each Item outlined helps to build a network based on the specifications given by the company. • 43. Self Reflection On My Writing And Learning Process Essay Self reflection on my Writing and Learning Process I think self reflection, or a careful cogitation of one s personal work, is very important. It will help me think about my strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills and learning process, so that I can improve my weaknesses in the future and become a better writer. I believe, I have many strengths and many weaknesses that can be seen transparently through my drafts, revisions, and final essays, or writings, this semester. My overall strength includes the ability to pick out good examples from articles and the ability to construct good development of my body paragraphs after my revisions. On the other hand, my overall weakness includes having some unclear explanation of thoughts, unclear topic sentences, confusing thesis statements, having undefined terms, difficulties transitioning from one idea to another. I have learned that to have a good essay, I must revise my papers more than once because there are always flaws that can be fixed or improved. My writing process has evolved from having difficulties writing down or explaining my thought process to being able to explain and clarify examples to help support my thesis statement. I am good at picking quotes that will support my argument. This skill can be seen through multiple drafts that I have written. For instance, in assignment 1, draft 1, I claimed that Richard Rodriguez is rude when describing his opponents. For my quotes, I pulled negative words that Rodriguez used ... Background A number of previous studies examine the association between obesity and elevated levels of C reactive protein (CRP), which is an inflammation and an indicator marker of cardiovascular disease. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), or waist to hip ratio (WHR), were used as measures of obesity. These measures were classified based on the normal, overweight or obese participant in most previous studies. However, these categorizations might lead to drop information. This study aims to investigate a flexible nonlinear approach such as Fractional polynomial models (FPs), to examine the association between obesity and C reactive protein to select the best fitted model within 44 potentially FP models. Methods This study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The J shape did not change for the difference ethnicity. The women have more risk for elevated CRP level compared to men. A deviance difference test yielded a significant perfection in model fit of 2 and 2 compared to other BMI functions. Conclusion The fractional polynomial regression model shows a robust compared to categorization or other linear or nonlinear models (e.g. quadratic model) for BMI. The model might be useful for other health outcomes. Introduction Obesity is considered as one of the main factors that influence the healthy and unhealthy people. It has also been linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD) either in childhood or in adulthood. In recent time, inflammation is considered as one of the main majors of the initiation and development of CVD. C reactive protein (CRP) has been proved to be one of the important inflammatory markers for predicting CVD risk. The Impact Of Modern Social Workers On The Community Introduction Modern social workers participate actively in helping people to obtain rights, services, benefits and opportunities that they might not otherwise obtain through micro policy advocacy, ?often prioritize the needs of vulnerable populations when they engage in advocacy? (Jansson, 2016, p. 21). Through community immersion, the social worker gains an understanding of the community attributes and desiderata, requiring them to utilize their experience and expertise to advocate policies that will satisfy the client?s needs (NASW, n.d.). Furthermore, when social workers immerse themselves in the community, it becomes an act of care and concern to serve the community. Compelling them to implement new changes, depict workable intervention schemes, and generate attainable treatment plans to satisfy the needs of the individuals, families and community. The community that will be addressed in this paper is National City. It is located five miles south of downtown San Diego and ten miles away from the US Mexico border in Tijuana. National City is divided into three sub communities based on their regional parks: Kimball, El Toyon and Las Palmas (KTU+A, 2014). Because of National City?s unique location in close proximity to downtown San Diego, it is considered an urban city, as defined by Jannson (2016), with a lot of commercial activity and impoverishment.
