A Brief Note On Down The Drain It Goes
Down the Drain it Goes We have come to the conclusion that there is no more fresh water on the earth
and that there is no potable water, says a news reporter. The earth could eventually end up like this.
How much of the earth contains freshwater? Will the earth ever run out of water? If so, how long from
now will we run out of water? What effects could this cause? All of these questions are ones that
interest me greatly and that I would like to know the answers to. After taking an environmental
science class in high school, I already had some prior knowledge on some areas of this topic. This
knowledge includes learning about how much water there is on the earth. The part of the earth that is
water is known as the hydrosphere and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, I often hear about the topics of water scarcity on the news and in articles and they bring up
countries having water issues, so it encouraged me to find out more about the topic and to hopefully
get my questions answered. While having many tools available for me to find secondary research for
my topic, the easiest and closest source was my school s library database. On my school s library
website, there is a search generator for looking up articles, books, journals, and anything you can read.
This database was very helpful when it came to looking for secondary resources. All I needed to do
was type in a few key words, and then read through the options that were given to me based on what I
was looking for. After researching and looking through the data, I found some great articles about my
topic on the fresh water on earth. However, I did have to search a few different key words and
questions to find exactly what I was looking for. I explored things such as water scarcity, fresh water
on earth, will the earth run out of water?, and how long from now will the earth run out of water?. All
of these searches led to many different articles which then became my secondary sources which I
could use to help answer my questions. I had to read through more than three articles, even though I
needed at least three articles, to decide which ones seemed the most reliable and well written. My first

WorldCom Failure in relation to its Organizational Behavior
INTRODUCTION
Year 2002 saw an unprecedented number of corporate scandals: Enron, Tyco, Global Crossing, etc. In
many ways, WorldCom is just another case of failed corporate governance, accounting abuses, and
outright greed. Many people may question if there is a secret to operating a successful business in
modern times. Some may argue that success is based on being at the right place at the right time with
the right idea and the right amount of money. Other may debate that success is based on hard work
and ethics that are accompanied by many failed attempts before ... Show more content on

A large loan to senior executives epitomizes about conflict of interest and breach of fiduciary duty.
WORLDCOM SCANDAL INVESTIGATION RESULTS
Evidence shows that the accounting fraud was discovered as early as June 2001, when several former
employees gave statements alleging instances of hiding bad debt, understating costs, and backdating
contracts. However, WorldCom s board of directors did not investigate these claims. Although
employees and investors look for individual culpability, WorldCom s organizational structure, group
processes, and culture contributed to the fraud and length of time over which it occurred. The SEC s
investigation into the accounting fraud at WorldCom turned up several key players. The following is a
list of high ranking WorldCom executives and other employees who were implicated on the
accounting fraud: * Bernard Ebbers former CEO of WorldCom. Suspected in accounting fraud but no
charges have been filed against him yet. * Scott Sullivan former CFO of WorlCom. Indicted on
charges of securities fraud, conspiracy, and false statements to the SEC. * David Myers former
controller of WorlCom. Charged with securities fraud, conspiracy, and false statements to the SEC. *
Buford Yates Jr. former director of general accounting. He pled guilty to charge of securities fraud and
conspiracy. * Betty Vinson former director of management reporting. Pled guilty to charges of
conspiracy to commit securities

E Strategy For The Field Of Commerce
o Strategy can be defined as a series of correlated decisions at each point of time (or steps, choices =
tactics) based on the information available at each point of time (= information set) to reduce the
dispersion of eventualities (variance or standard deviation) about a particular future desired outcome
(mean or median).
o Application of strategy to the field of commerce is referred to as business strategy
 A series of correlated steps planned to attain a desired business outcome such as achieving cost
minimization / internationalization / improved return on capital (note that these ones are desired
outcomes or goals and NOT strategy Strategy describes the best possible way to move towards those

o Business plan outlines how is it to be done / by whom at what cost / and when?
o These two entities are correlated to do the right thing (Strategic Plan) AND to do the thing right

Health Care Industry Analysis
Achieving the goal of providing safer, quality, improved, proportionate, and greater cost efficiency to
the entire population is the biggest challenge in the health care field today. Quality and safety are the
two most formidable issues that are compromising health care outcomes to the populace today. To
prevent harm to patients during their treatment, or from adverse events occurring; about 1% of all
hospitalizations, delivery of the best possible result, the knowledge of quality and safety patient care
should be at the forefront of the health care industry.

Adverse outcomes are not normal in nuclear power and aviation because the managing of risk is so
good, but in health care, they are prevalent. Several adverse events are often hidden, either on purpose,
or from the lack of informing the appropriate personnel. Whereas, some mistakes are not obvious due
to the poor health of the patient and are not uncovered until an investigation has taken place, which is
not a typical incidence. Due to the ordinary attainment of disease, it makes it difficult to determine if
the safety outcomes were due to negligent care or the natural course of the disease.
Aviation and the making of nuclear power differ dramatically from the health care industry as in how
to maintain or repair a failed system. As Dr. Gaba (2013) noted, We do not design or construct the
units we work on: human beings nor are we given an instruction manual for them. Another difference
is there is only a temporary shutdown in aviation and nuclear power if an adverse event happens, but
in health care it can take up to ten years for professional practice guidelines to be implemented and the
introduction of lifesaving drugs and medical devices can be delayed pending approval from the

The History of Television Essay
Many Americans today go home and flip on the television, but many do not take the time to think
about the complexity of this great invention that is common to us. Nearly sixty years ago television
barely existed and was not thought to be used as a broad communicator like it is used in today s
generation. Through its starting, stopping, then restarting in the 1940 s, television took off and
expanded greatly in just a few short decades and had great technological breakthroughs to allow it a
widespread range of uses. Though technologies existed in the forties, the great advancement and
possibility that television would have, were not yet explored. Just as the radio, television was a
process being experimented with, worked, and transformed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

America as a whole was still on edge of this new breakthrough, much like the decades before when
they first experienced the radio. David Sarnoff, under employment at RCA, an invested radio
company who took great interest in the television realm, thought to change the perception of how
many people viewed television. Instead of making it just for informational guidance, he wanted to
make it a part of every day life for Americans. With the help of his company he developed tubes,
lenses, cameras, and other new tools in technology that later led to the great development we have
today. At the end of the decade RCA had more than 3 experimental versions of television sets with
color. By the end of the 40 s the television industry had been well established. In 1947, President
Harry Truman delivered his state of the union address and the baseball World Series were both
televised. There were three major networks in America that had successful lineups. NBC, CBS, and
DuMont were the most successful. Both CBS and NBC networks began a nightly fifteen minute
segment newscast. In 1949, the price of TV sets went down, leading to Americans purchasing 100,00
sets per week. Growing away from their once reservation of television, many Americans were starting
to see the value of television between its use of communication and the use of generating a profit from
it. The high demand for television sets grew to a mandate of television programs in

La Ventana De Los Cielos Essay
La Ventana de Los Cielos is a nonprofit organization where they offer a variety of activities for
children and adolescents with special needs. The mission of this facility is to promote and improve the
physical and mental functions of those with special needs. This facility has 4 different stations where
the children rotate and are able to participate in each station. Every station focuses on a specific
function such as cognition, motor skills, sensory and social skills with the goal to enhance each
function. Services offered at La Ventana include horse based activities, zoo interaction, aqua
experiences, music and arts and crafts. The standard ratio of staff to patients is one on one. Although
there are times where there might not be enough volunteers or not enough kids that attend on a
particular day, a volunteer may be left without a child or may have to work with 2 kids. I feel that the
standards of ratio of one on one is adequate because it allows the staff to give the child full attention
and are able to get the most out of that child for that particular day. The client population at La
Ventana is mostly Spanish speaking coming from a Latin culture, although there are some who are
American and only speak English. Those who attend this facility for services age range from 2 21
years old. The majority of the kids are young under 10 years old. I have observed that there are more
males than females that attend La Ventana. The percentage of this ratio is 60%

The Pros And Cons Of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Do you believe in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)? In ancient time, daifu (the doctors who are the
specialists in traditional Chinese medicine) used to check patient s pulse to tell if someone was
pregnant or how was someone s health condition. TCM practitioners use herbal medicines and various
mind and body practices, such as acupuncture and tai chi, to treat diseases or prevent health problems.
It just like a chronic process to help you get healed. However, as traditional Chinese medicine is
becoming increasingly popular all over the world, some concerns are raised by scientists, even the
doctors in China. For instance, Dr. Ning Fanggang is offering 100,000 renminbi ($16,300) to anyone

Traditional Chinese medicine should not be used widely for the following reasons: the prescription
and diagnoses are not accurate, it contains potential toxins, and it is not effective in some diseases. To
begin with, traditional Chinese medicine is inaccurate with its amounts in prescription and less
stringent in the uses for treating patients, which causes some serious effects. First, the use of herbal
medicine in TCM as dietary supplements are not stringent enough to be recognized as drugs. In the
United States, the products contains herbal medicine are sold in the market only as an extra support,
but cannot be seen as a drug that is used to treat people. The problem is, they are not stringent enough
to keep the regulations of them the same as those for prescription or over the counter drugs, according
to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). So far, there is insufficient evidence from the
manufacturers to prove to the FDA that the component of this herbal medicine can be seen as drugs.

Symposium1 The position of strength that the Army has is that everyone has seen over the last ten
years what our Army has done, and is capable of. Lots of people want to put the Army in a box. They

That is an important statement. The other services, the interagencies are dependent on the Army to
provide support to their actions. So as we look to the Army of 2020, as a part of Joint Force 2020, how
do we want to shape it? Today, we are an Army that is globally engaged in 150 countries on six of
seven continents. We have over 95,000 Soldiers deployed in support of operations; another 96,000
Soldiers forward stationed. Our strategic posture is a testament to our flexibility and adaptability as
well as our unmatched credibility as the best trained, best equipped, and best led land force in the
world. Moving forward, our Army s primary purpose is steadfast and resolute: to fight and win our
Nation s wars. But we all know that the Army must be able to do much more than that. Today, we
require an Army that is adaptive and innovative, flexible and agile, integrated and synchronized, lethal
and discriminate. Even more critical in today s complex and uncertain environment, the Army is the
decisive arm of the Joint Force in a broad range of missions. Historically the Army has been focused
on a specific set of needs, but these needs and the means in which they are resourced have changed.
So we must fundamentally change how we do business. As we keep adding rocks to our Soldiers
rucksacks, all leaders must remain cognizant over time. Everyone s load can get too heavy and cause
permanent wear and tear. So it is a good idea to

Analysis Of Waylon Smithers s A Twisted And Heartless...
In the case study, Waylon Smithers is becoming increasing concerned with the behaviours of his
employer Mr Burns. Waylon Smithers explains how Mr Burns is becoming too difficult for him to
handle and suspects that Mr Burns may suffer from a personality disorder. Burns is described as a
heartless, greedy and exceptionally ugly that makes Ebeneezer Scrooge seem downright lovely. The
case study explains how at a young age, Burns was sent to live with his Grandfather, a twisted and
heartless billionaire and suggests that this may have had a long lasting impact on the behaviour of Mr
Burns.
Evidence from the case study suggests that Waylon Smithers is correct in thinking that Mr Burns may
have a personality disorder, more specifically; it appears that Mr. Burns is suffering from psychopathy.
Psychopathy is an antisocial personality disorder, previously known as both a psychopathic and
sociopathic personality disorder. This disorder is more frequently diagnosed in males than it is in
females. Buss (1966) described psychopathy as a personality disorder in which there is no capacity for
love or true friendship; a lack of insight, guilt or shame; an inability to control impulses; unreliability
in fulfilling obligations; pathological lying; thrill seeking; disregard for the conventions we hold in
society and antisocial behaviour (as cited in Patrick, 2005). Burns is described as a self interested
individual who has no regard for the welfare of others; he has an

How Did The Palestine Revolution Affect The Creation Of...
For more than 1200 years, Muslims ruled Palestine completely. For centuries Muslims, Christians and
Jews coexisted peacefully in Palestine. Therefore, the Ottoman Empire was controlling that region
until the early twentieth century. The majority of Palestine s population was Muslims roughly around
85%, Christians were 10%, and the Jews were around 5%.
In the end of the 19th century, Zionist schemes surfaced and the Palestinian plight began. At the time,
in 1878, Palestine population was around 460,000 and the Jews were just around 3%. Nevertheless,
with the rise of the European nationalism, more Jews suffered persecution, so they started to organize
and think of emigrating from Europe, but they didn t know where to go. That is what the Jewish
journalist Theodor Hertzel answered in his book where he called for a national homeland for the Jews.
Hertzel suggested Palestine, Argentine and other places in Africa as well. However, many Jewish
conferences took place to collect funding and support for this cause. As a result, Palestine was the
chosen to be that place. Then the immigration of the Jews to Palestine began.
In 1882, around 23,000 Jews came to Palestine from Eastern Europe and Russia, so the population of

Missouri Compromise In The 1800s
From the very beginning of the United States there was disagreement and compromise. From whether
they should revolt against England to who should lead the country. From its onset, the country was
destined for disagreement and compromise as it is governed by a democracy. This system lends itself
to compromise as not everyone can get their way. With compromise there are situations where no one
wins, as the compromise does more harm than good. The Missouri Compromise of 1820 is an
example of both sides believing they got what they wanted but looking back it was a compromise that
benefitted no one. It is crucial to understand and learn from the past to ensure the same mistakes are

Sectionalism was the excessive regard for one s region of the country more so than for the country as a
whole. In the context of the United States this was the regard for either the north or south. This divide
came about as a result of differing lifestyles with the south being a more agriculturally driven place
whereas the north was industrialized. Also included in this divide was the slavery issue, as the north
opposed slavery and the south relied upon it for their survival. The Missouri Compromise heavily
impacted this division between north and south as it pitted the two against each other on an issue that
was their core difference. On top of this issue the Missouri Compromise also created a line that
geographically divided the north and south. The 36 30 parallel was a line that prevented slavery from
crossing north, but it was also seen as a line that divided the two ways of life. Thomas Jefferson wrote
in a letter to Congressman John Holmes his concerns regarding a line dividing the country. In the
letter he wrote ...but this momentous question, like a fire bell in the night, awakened and filled me
with terror. I considered it at once as the knell of the Union. it is hushed indeed for the moment. but
this is a reprieve only, not a final sentence. A geographical line, coinciding with a marked principle,
moral and political, once conceived and held up to the angry passions of men, will never be
obliterated; and every new irritation will mark it deeper and deeper. The fear that Thomas Jefferson
expressed to his friend would ultimately come to fruition as the imaginary line agreed upon to limit
slavery was for the most part the dividing line for Civil War which would occur 40 years

birthplace of the great sugar industries. I believe this area was chosen because it separates the past two

How Does Neurodegenerative Disease Affect Personality...
There are times when you wonder if your love ones have been robbed of their personality identities.
They are no longer acting like they used to, is things everyone around you are saying. Scientists Nina

Neurodegenerative diseases affect the change in their personality identity. The underlying question is
what is the impact of someone with these diseases and their relationships with others. Are you affected
when your love one s identity change?
Psychologists Strohminger and Nichols took a few more steps farther to finding out the answers to
these questions. There is a widespread notice, both within the sciences and among the general public,
that mental deterioration can rob individuals of their identity. Yet there have no systematic
investigations of what types of cognitive damage lead people to appear to no longer be themselves.

Multitasking Can Make You Lose Summary
Multitasking Just Doesn t Work

it affects society and how common it is.
I believe that the article is very well written. I think that the author makes many good points and has
many good examples of how, when and why people multitask; she also has included many research
studies to help support her argument (against multitasking). The author also made some very

Grendel s Visit To The Dragon Analysis
The reason why Grendel wants to visit the dragon was because he wants to learn about the Shaper.
Grendel was very interested in what his songs had to say and what they had meant. This is because as
it says in the novel The Shaper was singing the glorious deeds of he dead men...He sang how they d
fought me. It was all lies. (pg.54) This made Grendel very upset and was so confused on what the
Shaper was saying. Grendel wants to know more about the Shaper because of why he was singing
these stories that were lies about Grendel. He responds Bullshit!... How was it that he could enrage me
so? Why not? the darkness hissed around me. Why not? (pg.54 L.12 14) The darkness that is
surrounding him made him feel uncomfortable and sounded like it had wanted to answer his question.
The darkness represents the dragon. Based on my understanding Grendel sees this darkness as evil and
the dragon as evil . Grendel discovers more about this darkness as the dragon because this is what

Epilogue Of Augustus s Mistake
As Augustus down walked the dusty old road he noticed something, most of the shops that lined the
edges of the road were closed. The food priced probably rose again he thought. Whenever the food
price rose, numerous shops close down. Augustus considered himself lucky that he didn t have to
move.
As he walked inside the bakery, the smell of fresh baked bread made his stomach grumble with
anticipation. When he walked into the back of the bakery he saw his father cutting the dough into little
squares and putting them in an oven.
Hey dad! He yelled across the deafening roar of the oven.
Auggie!

Auggie was sent there to earn some money for the family. A good thing about the factories is that they
provide food and a living space. The money that Augustus made was enough to support the family for
about a week.
Augustus s job at the bakery was to get water, wood and buying supplies at the market. His father
kneaded the dough and made loafs of bread. His step mother made the pastries and the cakes. His
older step sister Caroline helped Augustus with his work and put the frosting on the cakes. The whole
family worked well together like a well oiled machine.
Augustus always thought of his mother before he went to sleep. He always dreamed of her. He could
see her lying in the bed talking to her husband in hushed tones. But this was 8 years ago when
Augustus was only 4, how did he remember it so vividly? He always woke up wanting to go back to
sleep, not because he was tired though.
As the days dragged on, all of his dreams became more vivid. He once had a dream that he was in a
war and he got shot in the arm, he cried out in pain and woke up, The dream had seemed so

Foreshadowing In The Movie Signs
The title of the movie signs is significant because before you even watch the movie it implies there is
some sort of foreshadowing. What are the signs? and Where do they come from? are question you can

from Extraterrestrials. We learn right away in the opening scene that Mel Gibson is a father or two
children, but is also a priest from a picture on his nightstand, so father has a double meaning to him.
We discover his wife has been taken out of the picture so to speak because she has passed away. They

are categorized in the industry of diversified machinery. GE has nine different segments that make up
their entire company, these include power, renewable energy, oil and gas, energy management,

with each other. In 2016 GE outperformed the market significantly. Overall, GE stock increased
16.48% in the last 2 years, whereas S P 500 only increased 8.9% in those two years. Jensen s Alpha,
Sharpe Ratio, and Treynor Ratio are performance evaluation measures that all have to do with the
return the company earned based on the risk that was taken. Jensen s Alpha takes into account the
realized return of the portfolio, realized return of the market index, risk free rate, and the beta. General
Electric had a Jensen s Alpha of 0.74. Any positive number means the company earned more than
enough to compensate for the amount of risk taken. Sharpe Ratio considers the average rate of return,
the risk free rate, and the standard deviation. GE received a Sharpe ratio of 0.22. A ratio of 1 or higher
is considered good, so in this case GE did not receive a very high return considering the

How Did Icarus Change Ovid s Life
The story of Daedalus and Icarus, reflected Ovid s changing thoughts and morals of his personal life
as he undergoes the life changing event of getting exiled by Emperor Augustus, through the characters
of the poem. Ovid is born an Icarus, innocent and naive, with no idea of how much danger awaits him
if he chooses to forsake his guide and soar in the boundless sky . Ovid s father planned for him to
become a political official, sending him to Rome to get an education, and then Athens. Ovid s anxious

Importance Of Indian Cinema
Cinema is a great source of promoting culture, values and norms of the society, it shows how exactly
the people of that specific region are and how they live, think and do their activities.
Indian movies are very much popular in our country and movies are very much seen in Pakistan.
Bollywood is a largest showbiz industry in the world and one of the main reasons of great influence of
Indian cinema in our society and culture is because of downfall of Pakistani showbiz industry.
Pakistani cinema is going down and working poorly.
Indian cinema is promoting its culture through its movies and dramas, which are totally based on
Hindu folklore. they are influencing our culture and values by showing us their dramas and movies
which are totally based on their false believes and they are catching attention of our people by
showing so much fantasy , colors and glitters in their movies and dramas. In this way they are spoiling
our people s thoughts and also moving them far away to watch their own country s cinema. It is
believed that if you want to rule on a nation, you should capture their minds and through propaganda
cultivate your own culture in their lives by showing them your culture with strong believes.
No doubt, it is the fault of our directors and producers who are not making good movies, there are no
solid concepts seen in new movies of Pakistan. Our youth is educated and know more about the issues.
They want to see good movies based on good scripts and well working cast.

Abstract: In wireless sensor network, sensor nodes have limited power back up. So, the main issue is
to increase the network lifetime. The multi chain concept in PEGASIS and sink mobility increases the
network lifetime in wireless sensor network. In this research paper, we have proposed a revised multi
chain PEGASIS protocol by revising the position of the mobile sink to maximize the network lifetime.
The simulation is done in MATLAB R2008a and results are compared with MIEEPB (Mobile sink
improved energy efficient PEGASIS based routing protocol). Also, we have simulated revised multi
chain PEGASIS according to standard assumptions and results are shown satisfactory.
Keywords: multi chain PEGASIS, revised MIEEPB, sink mobility, energy efficient
1. Introduction
In many application areas, the wireless sensor network must be able to operate for long periods of
time, and the energy consumption of both individual sensor nodes and the sensor network as a whole
is most important. Thus energy consumption is an important issue for wireless sensor networks. Figure
1 shows the architecture of wireless sensor network. It consists of one sink node (or base station) and a

woman with high morals and spiritual standards. Although many readers today would argue that the
teachings and ideas taught by this magazine are extremely outdated and outrageously sexist, one must
realize that this was society s standard for women during the 1800 s.
The Ladies Repository magazine is a monthly issued magazine that is dedicated to teaching its
readers, mostly young Christian women, about literature, arts and religion. It is issued by the
Methodist church in Cincinnati and written mostly by ministers. Each issue of the magazine was

Inspectors may inspect businesses and obtain undertakings from employers to comply with their duties
in terms of the Act. Failing that, they may issue compliance orders, to which or against which an
employer may object or appeal. Any party assessing compliance with the Act has discretion to
consider a variety of factors amounting to whether the employer has made reasonable attempts, in
his/her particular circumstances, to comply. The Director General may conduct a review of whether an
employer has complied with the Act and followed it with recommendations on methods of
compliance. If that fails, the Director General may refer the matter to the Labour Court, which is the
ultimate Court which may enforce the provisions of the Act. Chapter II of the Act came into operation
during 1998. Since the passing of the Act, the President, in terms of Section 65, determined that
Chapter III and Sections 35 to 46, 58 and 65, and Schedules 1 and 4 would come into operation on 1
December 1999.

Critique Of Gaunilo s Ontological Argument
The Ontological argument is something that I agree with, in order to claim it as false there need

Pi And The Real World
Abstract Pi has a rich history and numerous applications to go along with it. Pi is used in mathematics,
science and engineering. Pi has been traced back to over 1600 BC in Egypt, and today it is celebrated
world wide. Students from elementary school through college know of pi and its multiple applications.
It has been used in physics, as well as in geometry. Students will even use it in trigonometry when
they are doing sine waves. Students need to see how necessary pi is in mathematics and in the real
world. Although it may seem pointless to some students now pi will help in numerous career fields as
well as in more accelerated classes like calculus A B or AP physics. But knowing the application of pi
is not just for students, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pi and algebra both are necessary. Pi does have applications in the real world that some mathematical
topics just don t have. A famous Egyptian piece of papyrus gives us another ancient estimation for pi.
Dated around 1650 BC, the Rhind Papyrus was written by a scribe named Ahmes. Ahmes wrote, Cut
off 1/9 of a diameter and construct a square upon the remainder; this has the same area as the circle
(Blatner, 8). Pi has been found in early world history. There is reference to it in the Old Testament of
the Bible in 1 King 7:23, Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in
compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
(Allen, 2). In Babylon, they seemed to be well aware of the Pythagorean Theorem years before
Pythagoras. They had even developed a method of square root extraction equivalent to Newton s
method. They had generally used the approximation π=3 (Allen, 2). In Rome, the Romans were not
mathematicians they were warriors. Even with all of the mathematics that the Greeks had done at their
fingertips computed the areas of circular objects using the proposition and statement, A wheel of
diameter 4 feet has a perimeter of 12.5 feet . With that statement, the Romans got π≈3 1/8 (Allen, 5).
Pi is an irrational number because there is no derivation of it that does not involve irrational numbers,
basically it the ability tonot be simplified into rational terms; it does

Should The Military Occupation Of Israel
Apart from the growth of infrastructure, the military occupation needs to end so that the Palestinian
people can move freely through Palestine because the current restrictions through the occupation
destroy Palestine s ability to self govern. We need to end the military occupation; it has gone on long
enough. After the Oslo Accords, the West Bank is now comprised of small detached Palestinian areas
within a continuous Israeli controlled region (Le More 984). For eventual stability, Israel must
relinquish its control of the West Bank and Gaza. The occupation creates the conditions for Palestinian
hatred of Israel, especially when Israel bans travel between Palestinian villages in the West Bank
through the presence of military personnel and checkpoints (Hadid Sengupta). Israelis need to let
Palestine be a state, and if they support its development, the Palestinians will hate Israel less.
Palestinians need to be able to go throughout the West Bank, or else there will never be self
determination. To grant further autonomy, Israel should allow for more transportation between Gaza
and the West Bank. A road between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip would drastically improve the
free movement of the Palestinian people (Hazboun). If there is more freedom of movement, Palestine
would get more opportunity to develop, and Israel would dampen the anti Israeli sentiments amongst
the Palestinians. The freedom of movement can only occur if the occupation ends; Israeli withdrawal

One of the most fragile, but also most enticing places, is the intertidal. This is where the ocean meets
land, and is home to a diverse amount of marine life. Anemone cave is an example of one of these
places. It is a sea cave that lies within Schooner Point, and it used to be a very popular attraction in the
park. Years of visitation by park goers started to take its toll on the cave, with much of the marine life
being stepped on, or removed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first term will be spent compiling information for the project. This will include information about
the intertidal, the park, and the legal processes surrounding the question about conservation. I will
have weekly meetings with my director to address the information I have, and the information I need
to get. By the end of the term, I should have a finalized document with the information I need to
complete the exhibit. Winter term will be focused on the design of the project, both with the graphics,
and the layout of the exhibit. This will coincide with Graphic Design Studio II, which I will use to do
much of my design and review of my graphics. I will meet with Dru for this at least weekly to go over
my progress. This will also be where I create, review, and finalize all the text for the exhibit. The final
term will be the actual creation and set up of the exhibit. This will give me ample time to print,
troubleshoot, and set up the exhibit. This is so that any final corrections can be made without cutting it
too close to the deadline. More precise dates will be made during the term for things such as checkins,
reviews, and submission of

Human And Monkey Love Lauren Slater Analysis
Human and Monkey Love In Money Love, Lauren Slater explores the importance of life. Whether it
be animal life of human life, each are proven to be equal, but in different ways. In the chapter, Slater
even questions whether her daughter s life is more important than a monkey s, along with the human
population in general. There is a part to humans that makes us much more likely to value our own
lives over an animals . The question is: is there really more value to a human s life?
To begin answering this question, the reason why humans view human life as more important is
because we seem to have a piece of us that is different than animals. As Slater said, What, I wonder, is
the one percent of s that s not chimpanzee, the two percent that s not orangutan, the mere six percent
that s not the rhesus macaque? I d like to know. Is that where our spirit resides? She also talks about
the scientific portion of the animal vs human debate, in that we have a much larger brain than they
monkeys do. Humans look at their children and see something they love, and because they love them,
they take care of them. Meanwhile, animals have a natural instinct to take care ... Show more content

This is basically saying that there is more than science involved in the attachment of young to their
parents. Harlow was established that love grows from touch, not taste, which is why, when the mother
s milk dries up, as it inevitable does, the child continues to love her and then the child takes this love,
the memory of it, and recasts it outward. (Slater 138). Essentially, there is hardly any difference
between a human s love for its young and a monkey s

The Album Dark Side Of The Moon By Pink Floyd
The album Dark Side of the moon by Pink Floyd is the most sold progressive rock album of all time,
having sold over 40 million copies to date. With this album it helped launch Pink Floyd into stardom.
The album talks about the many trials and stresses one deals with in a modern life. The major theme
of the album is the unavoidable pressures in life we all must face even at a young age and how these
pressures affect us.
The Album begins with the song Speak to Me . The song Speak to Me starts with a heartbeat, which
resents a baby in the womb and as the baby gets closer to birth the heart beats faster. The song ends
with a woman screaming (Clare Torry) which is the birth of the baby, it also noted that other parts of
the album are heard along with lines about insanity. The band was trying to convey that even before
birth the pressures of life can t be avoided and as the mother is going through so we will we. This song
along with Breath help setup the theme of the album.
The song Breathe talks about the different stages of life we go through as we age, and most people s
change of view point as they age. The song lyrics start with Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don t be afraid to care. Leave but don t leave me. Look around and choose your own ground. this
relates to a person s child hood and a parent is giving them advice. The parent is telling the child to
enjoy life, do your own thing and figure out what you want but don t leave me. The parent wants his

Essay on Opposition to Immigration in 19th and 20th...
Immigration in 19th and 20th Century America During the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries, many American nativist groups opposed free unrestricted immigration. Although racism is a
main reason, there were many others. Economic, political, social and moral standards seemed to be
threatened by these newcomers. The immigrants were unfamiliar of the language and customs that we
take for granted in our everyday lives. The fear that gripped the nation was why people reacted so
strongly against immigrants. The people feared change might distort the course of our prospering
country. We did not want to become what those immigrants were fleeing. Many economic changes
were changing the pace of our nation during the late nineteenth ... Show more content on

This was not a single view, but a reflection of how the entire nativist nation felt. Many political
changes were also being made during this abstract time period. Immigrants were new to our elaborate
and tangled web of politics. In fact many nativist Americans didn t understand our political system all
to well. Many people had the conception that immigrants were too half witted to follow American
politics. After all they were not even born here. Immigrants tended to vote in blocks together. In
document 7, according to magazine writer, E.A. Ross thought that foreigners were underhanded and
corrupt. They polluted everything good about our pure and honest political system. Ross gives a clear
exaggeration on how the foreigners managed to change the outcome of an election. From intimidation
at the polls, ballot frauds, vote purchases, and saloon influence. Also the support of the vicious and
criminal. This is clearly a stretch on the reality of the situation. He contradicts himself at the end by
saying its root is the simple minded foreigner . With all this criminal masterminding to change an
election outcome, its foundation are immigrants who do not completely understand our political
system. Thats fails to make any sense to me whatsoever. Most immigrants wanted a better future for
their families and that was all. Social changes played a huge role in the nativist campaign against
immigrants. Many changes were occurring in our social

Smoking on College Campuses
The days of smoking on college campuses is coming to an end! (Daneman) The Department of Health
and Human Services made an announcement, backed by the White house, to act on getting colleges
everywhere to enforce a tobacco free campus! (Daneman) Smoking is a choice made amongst an
individual and falls within the first amendment in the constitution along with eight more! So how can
we legally ban smoking from a whole college campus? In the end, the individual is going to do what
he/she pleases if there is no enforcement. Smoking should be banned from college campus, except
where there is a designated smoking area away from others on the campus! Smoking is the use of
tobacco or nicotine. Tobacco is made up of more than 70 plant species ... Show more content on

E Cigarettes are battery operated nicotine inhalers. (Neporent) Instead of a harmful chemical floating
into the air, it is said to be just a water vapor . E cigarettes contain many different fills. Some consist
of vanilla flavored nicotine, chocolate flavored nicotine, and even as far as to making them taste like
mountain dew without any nicotine. Although research shows that bystanders aren t exposed to the
secondhand smoke, they are still being exposed to the nicotine! (Keilman) The American Lung
Association s found the chemicals formaldehyde and acetone in the e cigarette vapor that is exhaled.
(Keilman) Should the use of e cigarettes be allowed in a public smoke free zone? If you took a
moment to consider the facts about the many harmful chemicals inside of cigarette smoke and what it
does, not only to the smoker s body, but to those around them as well, could you see why smoking is
banned from many places such as: restaurants, schools, shopping centers, and most public places?
Although, there is one place in particular where officials are attempting to get smoking banned, but
haven t fully done it yet, college campuses! College campuses are a prime place for encountering
someone who smokes considering the fact that people of all ages attend college.
Now, one could argue that to ban smoking from a college campus is against their constitutional rights.
The first amendment clearly states that Congress shall

Are The Negative Impacts Climbers Have On Mount Everest...
Are the negative impacts climbers have on Mt. Everest worth it, for just a few pictures? Many people
feel as if the amount of waste left on Mt. Everest is not worth the climbers who make it to the top for
bragging rights. Although people think they can climb it to promote a cause or to prove something, it
would be better if they left Mt. Everest alone. This challenge of climbing Mt. Everest often is done to
prove a point, raise awareness for a cause, or to capture a photo. However, all the trash and waste they
leave behind is beginning to add up, which is starting to ruin this historical landmark.
With all of the pollution being caused by the hikers, some have become increasingly worried about
what they have contributed to. Sir Edmund Hillary and his partner Tenzing Norgay became the first
known people to reach the top of Mt. Everest, however Hillary has become increasingly worried about
the health state of this mountain. For example the text states, Hillary was also deeply concerned about
the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. (The World s Highest Mountain
7). This shows us that Hillary is aware of what is happening on and around Mt. Everest and is
concerned about what is happening. He most likely feels as if he has contributed to this problem and is
trying to make up for it. We also know he has tried to do something by starting reforestation programs
around Mt. Everest to fix what the climbers have destroyed. In addition to this the text

Despotism And The Framers Of The Constitution Dbq
King George the Third ruled England through despotism, and the Framers of the Constitution did not
want the same fate. In May of 1787, fifty five state delegates arranged a Constitutional Convention in
Philadelphia. The delegates argued a long list of reasons why the Articles of Confederation was not
working, thus creating a completely new outline of the government. The making of the Constitution
restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and turning America into an autocracy.
The Framers introduced, federalism, separation of power, checks and balances, and the small and large
state compromise into the governing document. Federalism was a strong starting point to prevent
America from becoming a dictatorship. Different powers were given in James Madison s compound
government. The state and federal governments provide double security to the rights of the people in
America. (Doc. A) On one hand, the state government deals with smaller, more private situations, such
as establishing schools, holding elections, and setting up local governments. On the other hand, the
federal government deals with bigger issues, such as declaring war, making immigration laws, and
regulating trade. Even though both governments have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Separation of power was inspired by Montesquieu, a philosopher during the Enlightenment. The
Congress is in charge of legislative power. They have the ability to make laws. The the president is in
charge of the executive powers and he has to enforce the laws. The Supreme Court determines what
laws are broken, in the judicial branch. As said by James Madison in Federalist Paper #47, Liberty
requires that the three great departments of power should be separate and distinct. (Doc. B) When
power is divided between the three branches that each have different roles, no one will get too much
power and everyone is

Notes On Antacid Potency And Its Effects On Their...
Mary Pyrdol
Honors Chemistry P3 Group 3
Topic: Antacid Potency
Due Date: 9/30/16
Background Research
For the scientists project, they are researching different brands of antacid and their potency to further
expand their knowledge of acids, bases, and neutralization. Their problem statement is which liquid
antacid brand is most potent? In the scientist s experiment, their independent variable is the brand of
liquid antacid. The dependent variable is the amount of drops of antacid it takes for the acid inside the
graduated cylinder to become neutralized. The constant is the amount of grape juice and lemon juice
(drops) in each graduated cylinder.
In a chemical reaction with an acid and base combination, the base neutralizes the acid. Antacids
follow this process once entered your body to soothe an upset stomach during heartburn. The scientist
s hypothesis is if a brand uses the least amount of average drops to neutralize the acid, then it is most
potent. In order to test the hypothesis in the scientist s experiment, they will test different brands of
liquid antacid against each other to find out which is most potent in neutralizing lemon juice (acid).
They will do this by having 3 different graduated cylinders, each filled with 10 drops of non sugar
grape juice (a natural acid base indicator which changes color based upon what the pH of another
liquid is when it makes contact with it) and 10 drops of lemon juice (acid). Each brand will have its
own graduated cylinder. For

  • 2. A Brief Note On Down The Drain It Goes Down the Drain it Goes We have come to the conclusion that there is no more fresh water on the earth and that there is no potable water, says a news reporter. The earth could eventually end up like this. How much of the earth contains freshwater? Will the earth ever run out of water? If so, how long from now will we run out of water? What effects could this cause? All of these questions are ones that interest me greatly and that I would like to know the answers to. After taking an environmental science class in high school, I already had some prior knowledge on some areas of this topic. This knowledge includes learning about how much water there is on the earth. The part of the earth that is water is known as the hydrosphere and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likewise, I often hear about the topics of water scarcity on the news and in articles and they bring up countries having water issues, so it encouraged me to find out more about the topic and to hopefully get my questions answered. While having many tools available for me to find secondary research for my topic, the easiest and closest source was my school s library database. On my school s library website, there is a search generator for looking up articles, books, journals, and anything you can read. This database was very helpful when it came to looking for secondary resources. All I needed to do was type in a few key words, and then read through the options that were given to me based on what I was looking for. After researching and looking through the data, I found some great articles about my topic on the fresh water on earth. However, I did have to search a few different key words and questions to find exactly what I was looking for. I explored things such as water scarcity, fresh water on earth, will the earth run out of water?, and how long from now will the earth run out of water?. All of these searches led to many different articles which then became my secondary sources which I could use to help answer my questions. I had to read through more than three articles, even though I needed at least three articles, to decide which ones seemed the most reliable and well written. My first ... Worldcom Failure WorldCom Failure in relation to its Organizational Behavior LDR/531 Organizational Leadership October 7, 2010 WorldCom Failure in relation to its Organizational Behavior INTRODUCTION Year 2002 saw an unprecedented number of corporate scandals: Enron, Tyco, Global Crossing, etc. In many ways, WorldCom is just another case of failed corporate governance, accounting abuses, and outright greed. Many people may question if there is a secret to operating a successful business in modern times. Some may argue that success is based on being at the right place at the right time with the right idea and the right amount of money. Other may debate that success is based on hard work and ethics that are accompanied by many failed attempts before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A large loan to senior executives epitomizes about conflict of interest and breach of fiduciary duty. WORLDCOM SCANDAL INVESTIGATION RESULTS Evidence shows that the accounting fraud was discovered as early as June 2001, when several former employees gave statements alleging instances of hiding bad debt, understating costs, and backdating contracts. However, WorldCom s board of directors did not investigate these claims. Although employees and investors look for individual culpability, WorldCom s organizational structure, group processes, and culture contributed to the fraud and length of time over which it occurred. The SEC s investigation into the accounting fraud at WorldCom turned up several key players. The following is a list of high ranking WorldCom executives and other employees who were implicated on the accounting fraud: * Bernard Ebbers former CEO of WorldCom. Suspected in accounting fraud but no charges have been filed against him yet. * Scott Sullivan former CFO of WorlCom. Indicted on charges of securities fraud, conspiracy, and false statements to the SEC. * David Myers former controller of WorlCom. Charged with securities fraud, conspiracy, and false statements to the SEC. * Buford Yates Jr. former director of general accounting. He pled guilty to charge of securities fraud and conspiracy. * Betty Vinson former director of management reporting. Pled guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit securities ... Health Care Industry Analysis Achieving the goal of providing safer, quality, improved, proportionate, and greater cost efficiency to the entire population is the biggest challenge in the health care field today. Quality and safety are the two most formidable issues that are compromising health care outcomes to the populace today. To prevent harm to patients during their treatment, or from adverse events occurring; about 1% of all hospitalizations, delivery of the best possible result, the knowledge of quality and safety patient care should be at the forefront of the health care industry. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adverse outcomes are not normal in nuclear power and aviation because the managing of risk is so good, but in health care, they are prevalent. Several adverse events are often hidden, either on purpose, or from the lack of informing the appropriate personnel. Whereas, some mistakes are not obvious due to the poor health of the patient and are not uncovered until an investigation has taken place, which is not a typical incidence. Due to the ordinary attainment of disease, it makes it difficult to determine if the safety outcomes were due to negligent care or the natural course of the disease. Aviation and the making of nuclear power differ dramatically from the health care industry as in how to maintain or repair a failed system. As Dr. Gaba (2013) noted, We do not design or construct the units we work on: human beings nor are we given an instruction manual for them. Another difference is there is only a temporary shutdown in aviation and nuclear power if an adverse event happens, but in health care it can take up to ten years for professional practice guidelines to be implemented and the introduction of lifesaving drugs and medical devices can be delayed pending approval from the ... • 8. The History of Television Essay Many Americans today go home and flip on the television, but many do not take the time to think about the complexity of this great invention that is common to us. Nearly sixty years ago television barely existed and was not thought to be used as a broad communicator like it is used in today s generation. Through its starting, stopping, then restarting in the 1940 s, television took off and expanded greatly in just a few short decades and had great technological breakthroughs to allow it a widespread range of uses. Though technologies existed in the forties, the great advancement and possibility that television would have, were not yet explored. Just as the radio, television was a process being experimented with, worked, and transformed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... America as a whole was still on edge of this new breakthrough, much like the decades before when they first experienced the radio. David Sarnoff, under employment at RCA, an invested radio company who took great interest in the television realm, thought to change the perception of how many people viewed television. Instead of making it just for informational guidance, he wanted to make it a part of every day life for Americans. With the help of his company he developed tubes, lenses, cameras, and other new tools in technology that later led to the great development we have today. At the end of the decade RCA had more than 3 experimental versions of television sets with color. By the end of the 40 s the television industry had been well established. In 1947, President Harry Truman delivered his state of the union address and the baseball World Series were both televised. There were three major networks in America that had successful lineups. NBC, CBS, and DuMont were the most successful. Both CBS and NBC networks began a nightly fifteen minute segment newscast. In 1949, the price of TV sets went down, leading to Americans purchasing 100,00 sets per week. Growing away from their once reservation of television, many Americans were starting to see the value of television between its use of communication and the use of generating a profit from it. The high demand for television sets grew to a mandate of television programs in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mission of this facility is to promote and improve the physical and mental functions of those with special needs. This facility has 4 different stations where the children rotate and are able to participate in each station. Every station focuses on a specific function such as cognition, motor skills, sensory and social skills with the goal to enhance each function. Services offered at La Ventana include horse based activities, zoo interaction, aqua experiences, music and arts and crafts. The standard ratio of staff to patients is one on one. Although there are times where there might not be enough volunteers or not enough kids that attend on a particular day, a volunteer may be left without a child or may have to work with 2 kids. I feel that the standards of ratio of one on one is adequate because it allows the staff to give the child full attention and are able to get the most out of that child for that particular day. The client population at La Ventana is mostly Spanish speaking coming from a Latin culture, although there are some who are American and only speak English. So as we look to the Army of 2020, as a part of Joint Force 2020, how do we want to shape it? Today, we are an Army that is globally engaged in 150 countries on six of seven continents. We have over 95,000 Soldiers deployed in support of operations; another 96,000 Soldiers forward stationed. Our strategic posture is a testament to our flexibility and adaptability as well as our unmatched credibility as the best trained, best equipped, and best led land force in the world. Moving forward, our Army s primary purpose is steadfast and resolute: to fight and win our Nation s wars. But we all know that the Army must be able to do much more than that. Today, we require an Army that is adaptive and innovative, flexible and agile, integrated and synchronized, lethal and discriminate. Even more critical in today s complex and uncertain environment, the Army is the decisive arm of the Joint Force in a broad range of missions. Historically the Army has been focused on a specific set of needs, but these needs and the means in which they are resourced have changed. So we must fundamentally change how we do business. • 13. Analysis Of Waylon Smithers s A Twisted And Heartless... In the case study, Waylon Smithers is becoming increasing concerned with the behaviours of his employer Mr Burns. Waylon Smithers explains how Mr Burns is becoming too difficult for him to handle and suspects that Mr Burns may suffer from a personality disorder. Burns is described as a heartless, greedy and exceptionally ugly that makes Ebeneezer Scrooge seem downright lovely. The case study explains how at a young age, Burns was sent to live with his Grandfather, a twisted and heartless billionaire and suggests that this may have had a long lasting impact on the behaviour of Mr Burns. Evidence from the case study suggests that Waylon Smithers is correct in thinking that Mr Burns may have a personality disorder, more specifically; it appears that Mr. Burns is suffering from psychopathy. Psychopathy is an antisocial personality disorder, previously known as both a psychopathic and sociopathic personality disorder. This disorder is more frequently diagnosed in males than it is in females. Buss (1966) described psychopathy as a personality disorder in which there is no capacity for love or true friendship; a lack of insight, guilt or shame; an inability to control impulses; unreliability in fulfilling obligations; pathological lying; thrill seeking; disregard for the conventions we hold in society and antisocial behaviour (as cited in Patrick, 2005). For centuries Muslims, Christians and Jews coexisted peacefully in Palestine. Therefore, the Ottoman Empire was controlling that region until the early twentieth century. The majority of Palestine s population was Muslims roughly around 85%, Christians were 10%, and the Jews were around 5%. In the end of the 19th century, Zionist schemes surfaced and the Palestinian plight began. At the time, in 1878, Palestine population was around 460,000 and the Jews were just around 3%. Nevertheless, with the rise of the European nationalism, more Jews suffered persecution, so they started to organize and think of emigrating from Europe, but they didn t know where to go. That is what the Jewish journalist Theodor Hertzel answered in his book where he called for a national homeland for the Jews. Hertzel suggested Palestine, Argentine and other places in Africa as well. However, many Jewish conferences took place to collect funding and support for this cause. From whether they should revolt against England to who should lead the country. From its onset, the country was destined for disagreement and compromise as it is governed by a democracy. This system lends itself to compromise as not everyone can get their way. With compromise there are situations where no one wins, as the compromise does more harm than good. Sectionalism was the excessive regard for one s region of the country more so than for the country as a whole. In the context of the United States this was the regard for either the north or south. This divide came about as a result of differing lifestyles with the south being a more agriculturally driven place whereas the north was industrialized. Also included in this divide was the slavery issue, as the north opposed slavery and the south relied upon it for their survival. The Missouri Compromise heavily impacted this division between north and south as it pitted the two against each other on an issue that was their core difference. On top of this issue the Missouri Compromise also created a line that geographically divided the north and south. The 36 30 parallel was a line that prevented slavery from crossing north, but it was also seen as a line that divided the two ways of life. Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to Congressman John Holmes his concerns regarding a line dividing the country. Ahmes wrote, Cut off 1/9 of a diameter and construct a square upon the remainder; this has the same area as the circle (Blatner, 8). Pi has been found in early world history. There is reference to it in the Old Testament of the Bible in 1 King 7:23, Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about. (Allen, 2). In Babylon, they seemed to be well aware of the Pythagorean Theorem years before Pythagoras. They had even developed a method of square root extraction equivalent to Newton s method. They had generally used the approximation π=3 (Allen, 2). In Rome, the Romans were not mathematicians they were warriors. Even with all of the mathematics that the Greeks had done at their fingertips computed the areas of circular objects using the proposition and statement, A wheel of diameter 4 feet has a perimeter of 12.5 feet . With that statement, the Romans got π≈3 1/8 (Allen, 5). Pi is an irrational number because there is no derivation of it that does not involve irrational numbers, basically it the ability tonot be simplified into rational terms; it does ... • 41. Should The Military Occupation Of Israel Apart from the growth of infrastructure, the military occupation needs to end so that the Palestinian people can move freely through Palestine because the current restrictions through the occupation destroy Palestine s ability to self govern. We need to end the military occupation; it has gone on long enough. After the Oslo Accords, the West Bank is now comprised of small detached Palestinian areas within a continuous Israeli controlled region (Le More 984). For eventual stability, Israel must relinquish its control of the West Bank and Gaza. The occupation creates the conditions for Palestinian hatred of Israel, especially when Israel bans travel between Palestinian villages in the West Bank through the presence of military personnel and checkpoints (Hadid Sengupta). Israelis need to let Palestine be a state, and if they support its development, the Palestinians will hate Israel less. Palestinians need to be able to go throughout the West Bank, or else there will never be self determination. To grant further autonomy, Israel should allow for more transportation between Gaza and the West Bank. A road between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip would drastically improve the free movement of the Palestinian people (Hazboun). If there is more freedom of movement, Palestine would get more opportunity to develop, and Israel would dampen the anti Israeli sentiments amongst the Palestinians. The freedom of movement can only occur if the occupation ends; Israeli withdrawal is best ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Anemone River Scandal Description: Since the induction of the National Park Service, national parks have been tasked with sharing and protecting natural spaces in equal measure. This can be a challenge at times when the desire to share a place where the public can engage with nature conflicts with the need to protect it. One of the most fragile, but also most enticing places, is the intertidal. This is where the ocean meets land, and is home to a diverse amount of marine life. Anemone cave is an example of one of these places. It is a sea cave that lies within Schooner Point, and it used to be a very popular attraction in the park. Years of visitation by park goers started to take its toll on the cave, with much of the marine life being stepped on, or removed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first term will be spent compiling information for the project. This will include information about the intertidal, the park, and the legal processes surrounding the question about conservation. I will have weekly meetings with my director to address the information I have, and the information I need to get. By the end of the term, I should have a finalized document with the information I need to complete the exhibit. Winter term will be focused on the design of the project, both with the graphics, and the layout of the exhibit. This will coincide with Graphic Design Studio II, which I will use to do much of my design and review of my graphics. I will meet with Dru for this at least weekly to go over my progress. This will also be where I create, review, and finalize all the text for the exhibit. The final term will be the actual creation and set up of the exhibit. This will give me ample time to print, troubleshoot, and set up the exhibit. This is so that any final corrections can be made without cutting it too close to the deadline. More precise dates will be made during the term for things such as checkins, reviews, and submission of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Human And Monkey Love Lauren Slater Analysis Human and Monkey Love In Money Love, Lauren Slater explores the importance of life. Whether it be animal life of human life, each are proven to be equal, but in different ways. In the chapter, Slater even questions whether her daughter s life is more important than a monkey s, along with the human population in general. There is a part to humans that makes us much more likely to value our own lives over an animals . The question is: is there really more value to a human s life? To begin answering this question, the reason why humans view human life as more important is because we seem to have a piece of us that is different than animals. As Slater said, What, I wonder, is the one percent of s that s not chimpanzee, the two percent that s not orangutan, the mere six percent that s not the rhesus macaque? I d like to know. Is that where our spirit resides? She also talks about the scientific portion of the animal vs human debate, in that we have a much larger brain than they monkeys do. Humans look at their children and see something they love, and because they love them, they take care of them. Meanwhile, animals have a natural instinct to take care ... Harlow was established that love grows from touch, not taste, which is why, when the mother s milk dries up, as it inevitable does, the child continues to love her and then the child takes this love, the memory of it, and recasts it outward. With this album it helped launch Pink Floyd into stardom. The album talks about the many trials and stresses one deals with in a modern life. The major theme of the album is the unavoidable pressures in life we all must face even at a young age and how these pressures affect us. The Album begins with the song Speak to Me . The song Speak to Me starts with a heartbeat, which resents a baby in the womb and as the baby gets closer to birth the heart beats faster. The song ends with a woman screaming (Clare Torry) which is the birth of the baby, it also noted that other parts of the album are heard along with lines about insanity. The band was trying to convey that even before birth the pressures of life can t be avoided and as the mother is going through so we will we. This song along with Breath help setup the theme of the album. The song Breathe talks about the different stages of life we go through as we age, and most people s change of view point as they age. The song lyrics start with Breathe, breathe in the air. Don t be afraid to care. Leave but don t leave me. Immigration in 19th and 20th Century America During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, many American nativist groups opposed free unrestricted immigration. Although racism is a main reason, there were many others. Economic, political, social and moral standards seemed to be threatened by these newcomers. The immigrants were unfamiliar of the language and customs that we take for granted in our everyday lives. The fear that gripped the nation was why people reacted so strongly against immigrants. The people feared change might distort the course of our prospering country. We did not want to become what those immigrants were fleeing. This was not a single view, but a reflection of how the entire nativist nation felt. Many political changes were also being made during this abstract time period. Immigrants were new to our elaborate and tangled web of politics. In fact many nativist Americans didn t understand our political system all to well. Many people had the conception that immigrants were too half witted to follow American politics. After all they were not even born here. Immigrants tended to vote in blocks together. In document 7, according to magazine writer, E.A. Ross thought that foreigners were underhanded and corrupt. They polluted everything good about our pure and honest political system. Ross gives a clear exaggeration on how the foreigners managed to change the outcome of an election. From intimidation at the polls, ballot frauds, vote purchases, and saloon influence. Also the support of the vicious and criminal. This is clearly a stretch on the reality of the situation. He contradicts himself at the end by saying its root is the simple minded foreigner . With all this criminal masterminding to change an election outcome, its foundation are immigrants who do not completely understand our political system. Thats fails to make any sense to me whatsoever. Most immigrants wanted a better future for their families and that was all. Social changes played a huge role in the nativist campaign against immigrants. Many changes were occurring in our social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Are The Negative Impacts Climbers Have On Mount Everest... Are the negative impacts climbers have on Mt. Everest worth it, for just a few pictures? Many people feel as if the amount of waste left on Mt. Everest is not worth the climbers who make it to the top for bragging rights. Although people think they can climb it to promote a cause or to prove something, it would be better if they left Mt. Everest alone. This challenge of climbing Mt. Everest often is done to prove a point, raise awareness for a cause, or to capture a photo. However, all the trash and waste they leave behind is beginning to add up, which is starting to ruin this historical landmark. With all of the pollution being caused by the hikers, some have become increasingly worried about what they have contributed to. Sir Edmund Hillary and his partner Tenzing Norgay became the first known people to reach the top of Mt. Everest, however Hillary has become increasingly worried about the health state of this mountain. For example the text states, Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. (The World s Highest Mountain 7). This shows us that Hillary is aware of what is happening on and around Mt. Everest and is concerned about what is happening. He most likely feels as if he has contributed to this problem and is trying to make up for it. We also know he has tried to do something by starting reforestation programs around Mt. Everest to fix what the climbers have destroyed. In addition to this the text ... • 48. Despotism And The Framers Of The Constitution Dbq King George the Third ruled England through despotism, and the Framers of the Constitution did not want the same fate. In May of 1787, fifty five state delegates arranged a Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. The delegates argued a long list of reasons why the Articles of Confederation was not working, thus creating a completely new outline of the government. The making of the Constitution restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and turning America into an autocracy. The Framers introduced, federalism, separation of power, checks and balances, and the small and large state compromise into the governing document. Federalism was a strong starting point to prevent America from becoming a dictatorship. Different powers were given in James Madison s compound government. The state and federal governments provide double security to the rights of the people in America. (Doc. A) On one hand, the state government deals with smaller, more private situations, such as establishing schools, holding elections, and setting up local governments. On the other hand, the federal government deals with bigger issues, such as declaring war, making immigration laws, and regulating trade. Even though both governments have ... • 49. Notes On Antacid Potency And Its Effects On Their... Mary Pyrdol Honors Chemistry P3 Group 3 Topic: Antacid Potency Due Date: 9/30/16 Background Research For the scientists project, they are researching different brands of antacid and their potency to further expand their knowledge of acids, bases, and neutralization. Their problem statement is which liquid antacid brand is most potent? In the scientist s experiment, their independent variable is the brand of liquid antacid. The dependent variable is the amount of drops of antacid it takes for the acid inside the graduated cylinder to become neutralized. The constant is the amount of grape juice and lemon juice (drops) in each graduated cylinder. In a chemical reaction with an acid and base combination, the base neutralizes the acid. Antacids follow this process once entered your body to soothe an upset stomach during heartburn. The scientist s hypothesis is if a brand uses the least amount of average drops to neutralize the acid, then it is most potent. In order to test the hypothesis in the scientist s experiment, they will test different brands of liquid antacid against each other to find out which is most potent in neutralizing lemon juice (acid). They will do this by having 3 different graduated cylinders, each filled with 10 drops of non sugar grape juice (a natural acid base indicator which changes color based upon what the pH of another liquid is when it makes contact with it) and 10 drops of lemon juice (acid). Each brand will have its own graduated cylinder. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
