The Genocide Of Rwanda s Genocide
The Genocide in Rwanda
INTRODUCTION
Genocides happen when ethnic divisions become apparent. Many times, these ethnic divisions were
due to colonization from people of different race. These cases are especially true in Africa when
Europeans colonized their territory, with clear racial divisions between them (Gavin). These genocides
go on because of nations acting on ignorance and refusing to help out the nations in turmoil, allowing
the genocides to continue, without wasting their own resources. These nations purposefully ignoring
the slaughter of people cause the nations to also be guilty of the genocide underway ( The Heart ). The
genocide occurred in Rwanda in Central Africa during 1994. The decades of Tutsi oppression of Hutus
and the assassination of President Habyarimana in 1994 led to the genocide in Rwanda.
CAUSES
Socio/Cultural Cause
The socio/cultural cause of the genocide in Rwanda came from the German and Belgian colonization,
bringing along with them an idea of social science. Both colonial powers reinforced the Tutsi s
political power, which further oppressed the Hutus. This reinforcement caused the Hutus to envy the
Tutsi s aristocracy because they were privileged to all things, while the Hutus were privileged to
nothing (Kapuscinski). This oppression led to many Hutu revolutions that the Hutus were successful
in over the unprepared Tutsis. These victories of the Tutsis incidentally reversed the Rwandan
apartheid system. The reversion of the system then gave

Comprehension Strategies For An Effective Reading Program...
Comprehension strategies are used as part of an effective reading program to teach students how to
monitor their understanding of what they have read. Additionally, students learn where and how to
implement these strategies to derive meaning and clear up any areas of text that are confusing. These
strategies help students monitor their understanding of the text by making predictions, attaching the
content to prior experiences, and asking questions about the text to deeper their understanding
(Reading Rockets, n.d.). When students understand what they read, they can summarize or retell facts
or stories from various genres (Reading Rockets, n.d.). When incorporating comprehension strategies,
educators should model how, where, and when each strategy is used (Swanson De la Paz, 1998). One
way to accomplish this task is by teaching students how to use a graphic organizer. Graphic organizers
are visual tools that help students organize information in a text before, during, and after reading.
They also teach students about text structures to build memory and the sequencing of events that occur
in a story. Additionally, students learn to identify the main idea and signal words such as first, next,
finally or last to reinforce comprehension.
Independent Practice Students need lots of opportunities and time to apply the comprehension
strategies they are learning. This can be achieved when students engage in reading activities that
reinforce the specific strategy. For example,

The Weighted Average Cost Of Capital
Introduction
AGL Energy is an Australian company providing energy products and services. It is involved in the
generation and retailing of electricity and is the largest ASX listed owner, operator and developer of
renewable energy generation in the country (AGL Energy Ltd., 2016).
This assignment will calculate the Weighted Average Cost of Capital of AGL Energy Ltd and gearing,
as well as analysing the capital structure of the company. Through this, recommendations can be given
to the firm to increase and better manage capital and how it is used. The Weighted Average Cost of
Capital (WACC) is a calculation of a firm s cost of capital. It is the average costs of debt and equity
financing, each of which is weighted by its proportional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the result of the WACC can be increased or decreased by altering these results.
Weighted Average Cost of Capital Result
The Weighted Average Cost of Capital is for AGL is in the 2015 financial year is approximately
6.28%. While 6.28% WACC is slightly high, the overall average for the utilities companies have high
WACC, AGL is in the average. A high weighted average cost of capital is indicative of higher risk
associated with the company. As seen in IPART s (2016) Review of the Weighted Average Cost of
Capital is is shown for five of the utilities industries in Australia.
As can be seen from the figures below as AGL is both an electricity retailer and generator and
therefore fits into both categories. While electricity retailing is slight higher at 6.8% WACC,
electricity generation is not much smaller at 6.0% (IPART, 2016). Therefore, these two can be
averaged to give approximately 6.4%. This means that AGLs Weighted Average Cost of Capital result
of 6.28% is on par with the industry averages. This result shows that AGL has an adequate capital
structure which gives a good Weighted Average Cost of Capital. Investors may often use WACC as an
indicator of whether or not an investment is worth pursuing. This result shows indicates the company
is financially stable and is not considered not risky to potential investors.
There are many factors that can affect the result of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital. This can

A Report On Ants And The Plant Seed Dispersal Mechanism...
Ants have assisted plants in many ways: providing defense mechanisms to protect the plant, or
providing a dispersal mechanism for plant seeds. Also known as myrmecochory, ants that assist plants
in seed dispersal are essential for spreading out the location of future plants of the same species and
preventing competition between parent and offspring plants, which would result if an offspring grew
too close to a parent plant (Warren et al. 2014). But what causes coevolution between two species? In
some cases, where plants are dependent on ants to provide protection, seed dispersal, or to improve
conditions for the plant, plants would be the obligate mutualists in that situation (Warren et al. 2014).
What incentives do these plants provide to prevent their generous facultative ant defenders from
leaving, and is there competition between mutualists, either plant or animal, in receiving the benefits
from this relationship? Examining two separate pieces of research peeked into how competition can
provoke serious, and sometimes catastrophic ecological changes (Warren et al. 2014 and Riginos et al.
2014).
Warren et al. (2014) postulates that if seed dispersers, such as ants, were to coevolve with certain
species of plants, selection would favor plant based mechanisms that attract mutualistic partners to
their seeds (Warren et al. 2014). In other words, in order for plants to have their seeds dispersed, these
plants would also need to provide a benefit or an attraction to the

The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher
Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not knowing what
happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a continuation of their sense perception
post death allowing the possibility of being punished for all the bad actions in their lifetime. Epicurus,
an ancient Greek philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed that death is the end
of our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational (Letter to Menoeceus, 10.124
125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in support of him claiming the fear of
death is irrational is better titled as the privation of experience argument. In his own words Epicurus
claimed that death is nothing to us in his Letter to Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in
the privation of experience argument Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and not the process of
death. So, for the purpose of this essay, like Epicurus, I will accept the notion that death is the end of
our existence. In this essay I will present the privation of experience argument in my own words based
on my interpretation of his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given
that one can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of being
dead.
Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I will state that
Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view

The rhetoric that is used in Happy Valley appeals the audience s emotional and logical appeals.
Throughout the film, Bar Lev introduces important key factors, like Sandusky s adopted son and
victim, Matt, Joe Paterno s wife, two of his son s, students of Penn State University in 2011, as well as
researchers and historians involved with Penn State. Bar Lev has them open up about their thoughts

emotions, allowing them to feel as if they are a part of the story too. Likewise, he focuses on the
events leading up to the scandal, the scandal, and the aftermath of the scandal. Bar Lev likes to
produce stories on the difficult and uncomfortable topics that are hard to talk about. He states in a
recent interview, I look for the stories that tweek society s nerves (Bar Lev). Happy Valley, being one
of Bar Lev s numerous documentaries, does not create an obvious opinion that he holds, instead
leaving it up to the audience and their opinions. They are constantly changing their opinions especially

Weathering and Erosion
First, wind is a very powerful thing that can carry sediments. Wind can even break down trees!
According to the article Wind vs Dirt by Birdbrain Science it states This is the wind blowing a little bit
of sand. Sandstorms happen when the wind carries lots of sand into the air and whips it across the
desert. To explain, wind can create storms with sand and other sediments. Sandstorms are like
tornadoes of sand it s dangerous to be near them. In the article Wind vs Dirt by Birdbrain Science it
states Dust storms happen when the earth gets very dry and wind carries a lot of dust into the air. The
dirt can get in people s eyes and mouths, and it can kill crops. This means that, wind can be very
dangerous not only to the areas it affects but the people in that area. According to, BirdBrain Science,
Wind is usually the one thing that causes weathering. It starts to break apart rocks and chip. Wind is

Summary Of Jorge Luis Borges sCircular Ruins
A New Perspective Jorge Luis Borges is a well known author for his unique style of writing that is
unlike many others. In one of his widely known work titled as Ficciones, we see the particular magical
surrealism style Borges is immensely popular for. In this collection of short stories, Borges
demonstrates a theme of reality vs. fantasy. Each unique story has a plot twist that makes the reader
think out of the ordinary in order to understand the message that is hidden within the fiction. Borges
uses dreams, fantasies, and many unrealistic events that confuses the readers experience. However the
reader s understanding changes progressively comparing from the beginning of the fiction to the end
because of the authors mysterious style of writing.
In Circular Ruins, Borges plays with the notion of life is a dream, and not even our dream, but
someone s else. The fiction not only gives a transcendental experience to the reader, but to the main
character as well. In the beginning, the main character has a specific purpose of dreaming a man and
creating him as a reality. ¨He wanted to dream a man; he wanted to dream Muñoz 2 him in minute
entirely and impose him on reality (58). With the obligation of accomplishing his goal, the main
character travels to a jungle in where he intends to sleep at. As he continues his journey in order to
complete his goal, he encounters some problems that get in his way. In the end, he discovers that he
himself is a result of someone else s

Arthurian Historicism Analysis
The Retelling of Arthurian Historicism
During the beginning of the medieval era, a king was born. He was strong, smart, and a warrior. Until
a few centuries later his narrative changed again to fit the needs of the people. King Arthur of Camelot
was a figurehead for hope and prosperity to the early European peoples. Through out history there has
been speculation about the validity of the history of King Arthur and his court of knights. After the
medieval era, Arthurian legend became less prominent and more folklore that history. The people were
no longer in need of knights and mythical round tables. During the 19th century, poets took it upon
themselves to add different perspectives to the legends. Alfred Tennyson, an Arthurian enthusiast,
believed in the monarch as a historical figure and gear his poetry to toward a masculine Christian
theme. Much of his history arrived through the Geoffrey of Monmouth and historiography of British
monarchs. This belief in a true King Arthur allows readers of Tennyson s poems to reevaluate his
meaning and interpretation of the characters involved including their masculinity, femininity,
honorable characteristics, religion, and supernatural capabilities.
Along with Tennyson, Arthur Morris took an interest in the legends of King Arthur. However, his
interested were in the untold stories of individuals he felt were ill represented. In his interpretations he
adds Victorian cultural undertones to add something to the characters that was not

Methods to Reduce Air Pollution Essay
Methods to Reduce Air Pollution
Air pollution is nothing new. Ever since the discovery of fire, less than desirable substances have been
vented into the air. One of the first air pollution regulations dates back to the fourteenth century, when
King Edward I banned the burning of sea coal in lime kilns. U.S. air pollution regulations have their
roots in British Common Law. But regardless of those efforts, air pollution continues to be a serious
local and world wide problem. Pollution is the pressure within the air of one or more substances that
are harmful to human health, welfare, animal or plant life, or property. In the past with air pollution
we included mainly the outdoor pollutants, although in recent years this is not the case. ... Show more

However, Fox discloses an absorbing member (124) that includes a plurality of tabs (128). The tabs

in Applicants specification. Additionally, nowhere in Fox is it disclosed that the tabs (128) or the
absorbing member (124) define a frame contact surface. In this regard, Applicants respectfully assert
dependent Claim 2 is further allowable over Fox.
Amended independent Claim 10 is currently amended to include the limitation of an inner foam
surface being contoured to the seat back frame. Fox fails to disclose the above limitation. Instead, Fox
discloses foam blocks (A) in the corners of the seat back shell (B) between the seat back shell (B) and
the structural frame (C) (Col. 2, Lines 17 22; Fig. 25). Nowhere in Fox is it disclosed to have an inner
foam surface contoured to the seat back frame, as included in Applicants amended independent Claim
10. In this regard, Applicants respectfully assert amended independent Claim 10 is allowable over
Fox. Dependent Claims 11 15 depend from amended independent Claim 10, and for at least the reason

American Chestnut Research Paper
The American Chestnut and the Functions of Silviculture
It s incredible how many purposes silviculturists have to maintain forests. The main functions of
silviculture include control, protect, facilitate and salvage. Aspects of these functions can be observed
at the Lafayette Field Station among the growing American chestnut trees. Silviculturists use control
to manipulate the growth of forests for certain benefits. Controlling a forest can be done by altering a
tree s genes, adjusting its sunlight and choosing its surroundings. Some desired outcomes would be a
more diverse forest, trees with certain traits who are better adapted, or to attain a certain age of trees.

In order to conserve a native species and protect it from extinction, scientists must battle viruses,
unsustainability, invasives etc. that threaten the species. For the example of the American chestnut, the
young chestnuts are growing in gated areas. This protects them from animals or other intruders that
may disturb the chestnuts. The shelterwoods surrounding the chestnuts also serve as a defense. To
facilitate is to make something easier. In silviculture, this mostly involves regeneration. The American
chestnuts were directly seeded, which certainly facilitated their growth. The final function of
silviculture is to salvage. In order to reap the most benefits of a forest, it must be maintained
sustainably. This, in the long run, is more profitable for both humans and nature. Many years ago,
before the blight affected the American chestnuts, they were bountiful across the eastern United States.
They were greatly valued for their use in construction. If this new hybridized chestnut is a success,
then perhaps it can be established once again. The American chestnut research being done at Lafayette
seems to have a promising future. The primary functions being used on the chestnuts is control and
protect. Hope for a better future for the American chestnut has been made possible, thanks to the

The Bourgeoisie In The 17th Century

As the world has become increasingly competitive especially with globalization and economic
expansion the economic group that is behind this expansion were the bourgeoisie. During the 17th
century the bourgeoisie were known to be the upper rich class through the control of manufacturing
product or finance. The Bourgeoisie were the smaller population that held more wealth and although
they lacked in finding solutions to have a balanced society, they were able bring substantial changes

Since they were the in charge of manufacturing products and finance, they were able to increase to
population of cities. The increase of these cities is due to specialized laborers and skilled craftsmen
which helped produce variety of goods in factories and workshops of varies towns and cities. The
bourgeoisie were devoted and spent long hours to their businesses and poured much of their profit
back into them or went for new ventures. Another change substantial change the bourgeoisie were able
to make was cultural diffusion through trade. As goods such as Caribbean and Brazil sugar and rum,
Mexican chocolate, Virginia tobacco, North American furs, East India cotton textiles and spices and
Chinese tea (page 452) were in demand. Cultures begin to clash with one another with different types
of clothes, art, food to be accepted with in different regions. One of the items that was beneficial to
many of these regions when it came to trade was maps. The Dutch were successful and excelled at
mapmaking which helped different places to have contact with foreign land and trade. As the
expansion of maritime trade increase due to the trade, newer designs for merchant s ships emerged

Globalization and Human Welfare
International free trade has become the foundation of neoliberal globalization. The main organizations
for carrying out free trade are World Trade Organization (WTO) established on 1995, International
Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB). The main aim was to promote development and trade.
Trade has become the lens through which development is perceived, rather than the other way round .
The concept of trade evolved right from Adam Smith and David Ricardo who introduced the concept
of comparative advantage which compares the productiveness across countries. Here countries make
use of their natural resources, climate, skills etc. According to Paul Krugman trade reflects arbitrary or
temporary advantages resulting from economies of scale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
World trade has grown five times in real terms since 1980, and its share of world GDP has risen from
36 percent to 55 percent over this period. During the 1990s more Asian countries were integrated into
the trading system. The developing countries have been catching up with or surpassing high income
countries in their trade openness, reflecting the widespread convergence of low and middle income
countries trade systems toward the traditionally more open trading regimes in place in advanced
economies . Globalization measures distinguish between trade and financial openness and include
both de facto and de jure measures. Specifically, trade openness is measured by the (unweighted)
average tariff rate ( de jure measure), and the ratios of both non oil exports and non oil imports to GDP
( de facto measures). Financial openness is measured by the Chinn Ito index of capital account
openness ( de jure measure), the ratios of various types of financial liabilities (foreign direct
investment, portfolio equity, and debt) to GDP and the stock of foreign direct investment assets
expressed as a percentage of GDP ( de facto measures). The latter, which is closely associated to
offshore, outsourcing, may be particularly relevant to measure the impact of globalization on
inequality in advanced countries, while its value is minimal

Role Of Women On The Sports Network
Going into this experiment I viewed the subordinate group that was distinct, but hasn t yet been done
having its own unique. This directed me towards women, the difference of women on commercials in
the sport network channels rather than feminine networks. I got this assumption from past experience;
my mom is an avid food and HGTV network watcher, while I m an avid watcher of ESPN. Specific
questions were asked to create a foundation that correctly fit the direction intended for the project and
its conclusions. In conclusion to the commercial experiment I found that the majority of women on the
networks like ESPN have a different appearance then women on the Food, Bravo, and HGTV
networks. My reasoning for this is there are more men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ill be asking questions like, how are the women portrayed? How often are the girls shown in the
commercials? What are the roles of the women in these commercials compared to networks like
BRAVO, HGTV, and FOOD? My procedure will consist of watching these different networks
examining the commercials that appeared in between sport events or talk shows. In the process of
examining the commercials I ll be taking notes, the note taking is strictly for reinsurance so I can go
back to support my claims being made. The notes are going to consist of the setting, who s in it, and
what roles do the girls play, if any. Using these steps I ll be able to efficiently discover the truth behind
this hypothesis I ve made.
First I d like to talk about ESPN, the most watched sports networking channel available; I began
watching the sports center, a show on the ESPN network that will show anything from game scores,
highlights, top 10 plays, not top 10 plays, upcoming events and the latest sports news. Most avid
watchers would say that this channel is mostly watched by men, people may make this assumption
from past experience weather that be with a wife, sister, mom, or another sibling. During my time
watching this network and show, I found commercials being more sports related but others being
manlier too. For example, I saw commercials like the X games, Lawn Mower advertisement

Tolerance For Ambiguity, Learning Style, Dominant Conflict...
The team has to have people from different majors which are necessary to fulfill the projects. There
should be no misunderstanding, ego, complex and domination among the members as it would only
destroy the peace and focus on the goal. Strength would be team player, hard worker, focused on
achieving target, etc. should be able to balance work and personal life and never let one come in the
others path. In this paper I will talk about Tolerance for ambiguity, learning style, dominant conflict
management styles, and dominant reactions to dissonance.
Analysis:
Tolerance for ambiguity: Ambiguity is a psychological construct which describes the relationship that
not clear, it could be ambiguous things, behavior, or words.
(Budner, 1962, p.29) Tolerance for ambiguity is how to deal with a situation in a calm and genius way.
We see here that each individual has a difference and they are different in many ways, which means
the way they function varies. It does not mean they would not work efficiently. An idea will have
many people suggesting many possible ways to get things done, one should be open to accept it.
My ambiguity tolerance score is 63 out of 112, implications of being directed by others: being part of

Simulated Abandon Ship Essay
Captain,
Good morning!
HST just finished our Graded GQ and Simulated Abandon Ship. HST failed the Simulated Abandon
Ship portion. It took 45 minutes to muster and give a false mustered report. Weapons Department was
the only Department who was lined up in formation with professional made Life Raft # signs, had
100% muster and done within 15 minutes. Yesterday, HST had a graded Man Overboard which HST
failed. During this Man Overboard Drill, the Weapons Department was the only Department who
mustered everyone face to face and turned in muster report within 7 minutes. Now the Big XO is

Human Ecology And Its Effects On Society
The world we live in is a complex place full of networks and connections that are often veiled from
our immediate perspectives. The natural resources and, material culture stemming from that, made
available to humans directly affect the ways in which we are able to organize and conduct our lives.
The ways in which we organize the space around us is a clear indication of wealth, race, or ethnicity.
The minorities are often kept in isolation from the wealthier areas of society (be that economic wealth
or natural resource wealth) which directly affects the jobs the minorities are able to obtain and further
inhibits a lessening of racism by preventing a mixed association of races and different groups of
people. Without the understanding of other people, racism is allowed to continue through the simple
lack of social interaction.
It is things such as these that interests ecologists. Human ecology is a study that focuses on
relationships between different social lives and the implications of the connections between those and
the physical world around them. A vivid example of the altered relations through a shifting physical
environment is found within the creation of central heating. Before each room was able to be heated,
families would often gather together in a central room where there was warmth around a fireplace.
This setting promoted people to interact on a regular basis and thus encourage the familial
relationship. After the creation of central heating, those

The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst,
and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not

They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing
with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the
game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started
noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry
and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being
teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the
inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and
respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict.

within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and

The battles for Okinawa, Wake and Guam all were ample testament to the Japanese willingness to die
in the face of overwhelming odds. The kamikaze was a
perfect example of the Japanese battle attitude. Japanese pilots would strap themselves into planes
loaded with explosives and fly them into American ships. By the war amp;#8217;s conclusion the
Japanese kamikaze attacks had sunk 3 aircraft carriers, damaged 285 craft and sunk a total of 34. The
Japanese also did well in increasing support for the war effort. amp;#8220;Both scientist and
publicists were in fact powerful instruments inflaming popular hatred against the democratic countries

resolve would only have been strengthened had American and Russian forces tried to invade Japan.
This almost suicidal type of fighting would have resulted in a tremendous amount of casualties for
both sides. American casualties alone were projected at 500,000. The amount of deaths caused by an
invasion would easily dwarfed those of the atomic bombings (Purcell 82).
Air power offered American forces a method of remaining relatively unscathed against the fanatical

Cheerios Effect Essay
Have you ever wondered why your cereal clusters together after milk is poured or why it sticks to the
side of your bowl? Even if you try to pull them apart, they come together again. This is a spectacle
that happens every day but we just don t really notice it. Most people don t really realize that it s
happening everyday. Using fluid mechanics, we can determine why floating objects come together due
to surface tension, viscosity and buoyancy (Grayson, 2014). This cheerios effect also applies to other
floating objects such as paperclips. The main principles that cause objects to float together are surface
tension, buoyancy and viscosity. Surface tension is caused by the presence ... Show more content on

When cheerios is put in milk, it creates a dent in the milks surface. Milk is attracted to the sides of the
bowl; the milk forms a concave shape. The molecules being attracted to the bowl pulls the cheerios to
the sides of the bowl. The surface tension under the milk is pulling the molecules down. Even if you
try pulling apart the cheerios, the cheerios will stick together again. In water, an object has to be less
dense than water to float. The same goes for cereal, which is less dense than milk and allows them to
float. In liquids, cohesive forces are strong enough to keep molecules together but weak enough to
slide past each other. Fluids with high viscosity have strong cohesive forces and fluids with low
cohesive forces have weak cohesive forces. Viscosity can be calculated by its flow rate. Liquids with
low viscosity have a high flow rate such as milk and water. Liquids with high viscosity have low flow
rates such as honey. Milk has a low viscosity but different types of milk have different viscosity rates.
Fat free milk flows faster than milk with fat content. Whole milk has a higher viscosity than fat

Ethical Implications Of Recognizing That Clients Influence...
a. Discuss the ethical implications of recognizing that clients influence social workers. At what point
does this impact cross ethical boundaries? In what ways can we maintain a professional relationship
with clients, yet acknowledge how clients affect us? Clients influence social workers in many ways
including both positive and negative ways. This influence can create change within ourselves,
challenge us, help us grow, and inspire us in many ways. On the other hand, as social workers we will
not always agree with the values, moral judgments, and behaviors of our clients. As we experience
strong reactions to our clients values, moral judgments, and behaviors related to such things as
parenting, domestic violence, or drug use we must be aware of how our clients influence us to be
aware of how we respond to the client and the influence they have on us. If we are not aware of how
our clients impact us we may respond unethically based on our personal values. If we are aware of the
influence that our clients and these reactions have on us then we can be more aware of our reactions
and responses to our clients to ensure we respond ethically. God places our clients in front of us to
help each client make positive changes in their lives, not to convince our client to adopt our personal
values, moral judgements, and behaviors. We can and should model for our clients, but we must not
attempt to force our values and behaviors on our clients. This impact crosses ethical boundaries

The Departed Comparison
The movies Infernal Affairs (2002, directed by Andrew Lau) and The Departed (2006, directed by
Martin Scorsese), the latter being an adaptation of the former, are surprisingly similar films overall.
The discrepancies between the two motion pictures are only easily seen when analyzing the difference
in the narrative, plot and cinematography used within each film, while taking into account the
influences of the differing cultures that the two films were created in (i.e. location of creation). Due to
the differing locales: China (Hong Kong) for Infernal Affairs and the United States (Boston) for The
Departed, the unique and different cultures influenced the modification that took place in the
adaptation from the former into the latter. The difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romance, as seen in Infernal Affairs and The Departed, are highly different. In the former, it is barely
touched at all and most love interests are chaste whereas in the latter it is much more explicit.
Throughout The Departed, it is apparent that sexuality goes hand in hand with masculinity: as
expressed by Sullivan mocking the firemen for being gay when the police department loses to a
football game. Most insults and threats invariably involve sexual references unlike Infernal Affairs.
One interesting thing to analyze between the two films, is the psychological stress that is shown and
acted out by the characters in the films. While The Departed is a longer film, it is slightly less
psychologically nuanced than Infernal Affairs. Sullivan is not shown as truly evil, but his speculations
are never really scrutinized. Costigan is easily seen conflicted, but that stems from his fear of being
discovered and killed. In Infernal Affairs, it is somewhat clear that both Lau and Chen are feeling a
disconnection between their internal and external self, stemming from their involvement in spying.
The borderline between a police officer and a triad member becomes easier to cross. This shows the
influence of culture on the overall film, and the subsequent narrative, plot and use of cinematic

This was a tactic in attempts to keep the enemy guessing and to cause the enemy to feel threatened and
unsafe. It was a good strategy to trick the enemy into always thinking and feeling that an attack would
happen at any given moment, something that would cause the enemy to develop stress or become
restless with less chances of obtaining a sense of peace or assuming that an attack was not going to

the chances of victory. In addition, it was crucial to become aware and analyze the enemy in order to
determine if a planned and deceptive attack would work. Or, it was better to avoid confrontation if it

As a research from International Journal of Business and Management about a company stopped its
automatic salary increments says that the employees of the company were not happy with that scheme
and the company tries to give training to them about that bonus scheme. So the company ordered all
the HODs (Head of Departments) to educate their respective departments on the benefits of the new
bonus scheme. After the training those employees get enough education about the new bonus system
and they agreed to the new system. And they were motivated to work harder (Akinlolu Ayodeji
Agboola amp; Rafiu Oyesola Salawu 2011).
Participation can be used to satisfy the workers, as when workers are participated and involved in
decision making process then they will have understanding that the organization needs them and value
their work. If the people actively participate they will be more likely to feel ownership of the change
and will be less likely to resist. When the employees are involved and participated in planning and
implementing the change process will have better understanding towards the changes. Participation of
managers and employees to the change approach will be able to manage resistance to change quicker
(Rosemond Boohene amp; Asamoah Appiah Williams 2012). When employees are involved in the
change effort they are more likely to buy into change rather than resist it. This approach is likely to

A Metamorphosis Of The Paperweight, By George Orwell
Motolani Osinowo BOX # 2758 25 October, 2017 PROF. HODGE COURSE AHS 1000# SEC #06
Paper One Final A metamorphosis of the paperweight 1984, by George Orwell, is an overwhelming
novel that seeks to notify humanity about the dangers of authoritarian rule and the aftermath of it all.
In the novel, the paperweight is one of the greatest symbols because it is futile and beauty exists in it.
However it is a sign of rebellion, through its simple and yet peculiar nature, in the eyes of The Party; it
contradicts the idea that everything and everyone must be useful. One can come to a consensus that
the coral and the glass dome represent Winston and the upper room or party, respectively. This is due
to the fact that the glass and or room encases the coral or in this case Winston, or so he thinks. One is
also aware that the paperweight reveals a part of the past, which sparks Winston s curiosity to what the
hope for freedom really meant in the past this is a form of rebellion as the idea of freedom from
Oceana is forbidden by the party. However, Orwell argues that the seemingly positive significance of
the paperweight will be at a state of compromise through the use of sense perception, the
remembrance of the past, and the destruction of the paperweight. Because the paperweight is a
representation of Julia and Winston in the secrecy of the room, it reveals an inaccurate psychological
form of the truth. By referring to terms such as light (Orwell, p.130) gazes (Orwell, p.130)

(Florez). With this being said, this goal is similar to what Grenouille and Manson wanted, to be
remembered even after death. Grenouilles goal was to require the ultimate scent to be accepted by his

doing such acts the question someone must ask is the murderer regret what they have done? If
someone has killed another person for a reason, for example self defense, then that is a common
murder to report, but in Grenouilles and Mansons case they did not report the murder because they felt
as though that killing the victim was necessary. Psychopaths tend to not feel any emotion that is

what Manson has done up until both of their deaths. However, the reason why they killed in the first

treated them. Although their stories before they became serial killers are similar, there is not anything
else to compare the two on because Grenouille was smart, sneaky, and worked by himself with each

Layers Of The Skin Essay
The skin is one of the most important organs of the body because it protects the
body from outer dangers, like, bacteria that can cause infections. There are many
structures that compose the skin, such as, the epidermis layer is the first layer of the
skin that is made of keratinized stratified squamous epithelial cells and has no blood
supply, and therefore it gets its nutrients through diffusion. This layer has many layers
before it reaches the second layer of the skin. The deepest layer is called the stratum
basale, this layer has a row of stem cells that are the most mitotic and nourished out of
all the layers of the epidermis. When the mitotic basal cells divide, one of the

The second deepest layer is called stratum spinosum, which is
composed of cells that contain thick intermediate filaments made from pre keratin
proteins that connect to desmosomes. In this layer the keratinocytes develop a spike

also gets nourishment, but not as much as the basal layer, so when the keratinocytes
move to next layer of the epidermis they will slowly die until they get to the most
superficial layer, there they will become dead cells. The next layer of the epidermis is
the second superficial layer compared to the two deepest layers and it is called the
stratum granulosum. In this layer the keratinocyte go through a process called
keratinization, this is when the keratinocytes start getting filled with nothing but keratin
and they start to get flat. During this process, the keratinocytes organelles break down
and there are two type of granules that are taken in, which are lamellar granules that

  • 2. The Genocide Of Rwanda s Genocide The Genocide in Rwanda INTRODUCTION Genocides happen when ethnic divisions become apparent. Many times, these ethnic divisions were due to colonization from people of different race. These cases are especially true in Africa when Europeans colonized their territory, with clear racial divisions between them (Gavin). These genocides go on because of nations acting on ignorance and refusing to help out the nations in turmoil, allowing the genocides to continue, without wasting their own resources. These nations purposefully ignoring the slaughter of people cause the nations to also be guilty of the genocide underway ( The Heart ). The genocide occurred in Rwanda in Central Africa during 1994. The decades of Tutsi oppression of Hutus and the assassination of President Habyarimana in 1994 led to the genocide in Rwanda. CAUSES Socio/Cultural Cause The socio/cultural cause of the genocide in Rwanda came from the German and Belgian colonization, bringing along with them an idea of social science. Both colonial powers reinforced the Tutsi s political power, which further oppressed the Hutus. This reinforcement caused the Hutus to envy the Tutsi s aristocracy because they were privileged to all things, while the Hutus were privileged to nothing (Kapuscinski). This oppression led to many Hutu revolutions that the Hutus were successful in over the unprepared Tutsis. These victories of the Tutsis incidentally reversed the Rwandan apartheid system. The reversion of the system then gave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comprehension Strategies For An Effective Reading Program... Comprehension strategies are used as part of an effective reading program to teach students how to monitor their understanding of what they have read. Additionally, students learn where and how to implement these strategies to derive meaning and clear up any areas of text that are confusing. These strategies help students monitor their understanding of the text by making predictions, attaching the content to prior experiences, and asking questions about the text to deeper their understanding (Reading Rockets, n.d.). When students understand what they read, they can summarize or retell facts or stories from various genres (Reading Rockets, n.d.). When incorporating comprehension strategies, educators should model how, where, and when each strategy is used (Swanson De la Paz, 1998). One way to accomplish this task is by teaching students how to use a graphic organizer. Graphic organizers are visual tools that help students organize information in a text before, during, and after reading. They also teach students about text structures to build memory and the sequencing of events that occur in a story. Additionally, students learn to identify the main idea and signal words such as first, next, finally or last to reinforce comprehension. Independent Practice Students need lots of opportunities and time to apply the comprehension strategies they are learning. This can be achieved when students engage in reading activities that reinforce the specific strategy. For example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is involved in the generation and retailing of electricity and is the largest ASX listed owner, operator and developer of renewable energy generation in the country (AGL Energy Ltd., 2016). This assignment will calculate the Weighted Average Cost of Capital of AGL Energy Ltd and gearing, as well as analysing the capital structure of the company. Through this, recommendations can be given to the firm to increase and better manage capital and how it is used. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the result of the WACC can be increased or decreased by altering these results. Weighted Average Cost of Capital Result The Weighted Average Cost of Capital is for AGL is in the 2015 financial year is approximately 6.28%. While 6.28% WACC is slightly high, the overall average for the utilities companies have high WACC, AGL is in the average. A high weighted average cost of capital is indicative of higher risk associated with the company. As seen in IPART s (2016) Review of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital is is shown for five of the utilities industries in Australia. As can be seen from the figures below as AGL is both an electricity retailer and generator and therefore fits into both categories. While electricity retailing is slight higher at 6.8% WACC, electricity generation is not much smaller at 6.0% (IPART, 2016). Therefore, these two can be averaged to give approximately 6.4%. This means that AGLs Weighted Average Cost of Capital result of 6.28% is on par with the industry averages. This result shows that AGL has an adequate capital structure which gives a good Weighted Average Cost of Capital. Investors may often use WACC as an indicator of whether or not an investment is worth pursuing. • 7. A Report On Ants And The Plant Seed Dispersal Mechanism... Ants have assisted plants in many ways: providing defense mechanisms to protect the plant, or providing a dispersal mechanism for plant seeds. Also known as myrmecochory, ants that assist plants in seed dispersal are essential for spreading out the location of future plants of the same species and preventing competition between parent and offspring plants, which would result if an offspring grew too close to a parent plant (Warren et al. 2014). But what causes coevolution between two species? In some cases, where plants are dependent on ants to provide protection, seed dispersal, or to improve conditions for the plant, plants would be the obligate mutualists in that situation (Warren et al. 2014). What incentives do these plants provide to prevent their generous facultative ant defenders from leaving, and is there competition between mutualists, either plant or animal, in receiving the benefits from this relationship? Examining two separate pieces of research peeked into how competition can provoke serious, and sometimes catastrophic ecological changes (Warren et al. 2014 and Riginos et al. 2014). Warren et al. (2014) postulates that if seed dispersers, such as ants, were to coevolve with certain species of plants, selection would favor plant based mechanisms that attract mutualistic partners to their seeds (Warren et al. 2014). In other words, in order for plants to have their seeds dispersed, these plants would also need to provide a benefit or an attraction to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Death Of An Ancient Greek Philosopher Many individuals fear the thought of death given that they feel the uneasiness of not knowing what happens when one is dead. For example, some fear things like a continuation of their sense perception post death allowing the possibility of being punished for all the bad actions in their lifetime. Epicurus, an ancient Greek philosopher of the Hellenistic period of 323 31 BCE, believed that death is the end of our existence and thus argued that the act of fearing death is irrational (Letter to Menoeceus, 10.124 125). The Epicurean argument I will discuss in this paper is in support of him claiming the fear of death is irrational is better titled as the privation of experience argument. In his own words Epicurus claimed that death is nothing to us in his Letter to Menoeceus (10.124). It is important to clarify that in the privation of experience argument Epicurus speaks on the state of being dead and not the process of death. So, for the purpose of this essay, like Epicurus, I will accept the notion that death is the end of our existence. In this essay I will present the privation of experience argument in my own words based on my interpretation of his argument. I will also explain how this Epicurean argument is valid given that one can live a happy comfortable life simply by having the right attitude about the state of being dead. Before I present my interpretation of Epicurus privation of experience argument I will state that Epicurus held a hedonistic point of view ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Until a few centuries later his narrative changed again to fit the needs of the people. King Arthur of Camelot was a figurehead for hope and prosperity to the early European peoples. Through out history there has been speculation about the validity of the history of King Arthur and his court of knights. After the medieval era, Arthurian legend became less prominent and more folklore that history. The people were no longer in need of knights and mythical round tables. During the 19th century, poets took it upon themselves to add different perspectives to the legends. Alfred Tennyson, an Arthurian enthusiast, believed in the monarch as a historical figure and gear his poetry to toward a masculine Christian theme. Much of his history arrived through the Geoffrey of Monmouth and historiography of British monarchs. This belief in a true King Arthur allows readers of Tennyson s poems to reevaluate his meaning and interpretation of the characters involved including their masculinity, femininity, honorable characteristics, religion, and supernatural capabilities. The shelterwoods surrounding the chestnuts also serve as a defense. To facilitate is to make something easier. In silviculture, this mostly involves regeneration. The American chestnuts were directly seeded, which certainly facilitated their growth. The final function of silviculture is to salvage. In order to reap the most benefits of a forest, it must be maintained sustainably. This, in the long run, is more profitable for both humans and nature. The natural resources and, material culture stemming from that, made available to humans directly affect the ways in which we are able to organize and conduct our lives. The ways in which we organize the space around us is a clear indication of wealth, race, or ethnicity. The minorities are often kept in isolation from the wealthier areas of society (be that economic wealth or natural resource wealth) which directly affects the jobs the minorities are able to obtain and further inhibits a lessening of racism by preventing a mixed association of races and different groups of people. Without the understanding of other people, racism is allowed to continue through the simple lack of social interaction. It is things such as these that interests ecologists. Human ecology is a study that focuses on relationships between different social lives and the implications of the connections between those and the physical world around them. A vivid example of the altered relations through a shifting physical environment is found within the creation of central heating. Before each room was able to be heated, families would often gather together in a central room where there was warmth around a fireplace. This setting promoted people to interact on a regular basis and thus encourage the familial relationship. After the creation of central heating, those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Boaz Yakin, director of Remember the Titans, brings yet another memorable movie associating with this controversial issue that has shown to be timeless. Remember the Titans does not only feature terrific performances, but is also an inspirational film that has a good amount of social commentary. This film follows the lives of two schools in Alexandria, Virginia in the 1970s. These two schools integrate forming T.C. Williams High School whose European American head coach is replaced by an African American coach from North Carolina. The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst, and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not acknowledge that the other was even a person. Their different races really affected their relationship. They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict. The quote, Trusting a man s soul rather than their color really comes into play with the relationships within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and ... Despite the ghastly effects of such a weapon, it offered the best choice for a quick and easy defeat of Japan. President Truman, who authorized the use of the atomic bomb, made a wise decision under the circumstances of the war. Fifty years ago this is what people thought. The battles for Okinawa, Wake and Guam all were ample testament to the Japanese willingness to die in the face of overwhelming odds. The kamikaze was a perfect example of the Japanese battle attitude. Japanese pilots would strap themselves into planes loaded with explosives and fly them into American ships. By the war amp;#8217;s conclusion the Japanese kamikaze attacks had sunk 3 aircraft carriers, damaged 285 craft and sunk a total of 34. The Japanese also did well in increasing support for the war effort. amp;#8220;Both scientist and publicists were in fact powerful instruments inflaming popular hatred against the democratic countries and in regimenting the people into blindly supporting the war of aggrandizement (Ferrell 16). ; This resolve would only have been strengthened had American and Russian forces tried to invade Japan. This almost suicidal type of fighting would have resulted in a tremendous amount of casualties for both sides. American casualties alone were projected at 500,000. The amount of deaths caused by an invasion would easily dwarfed those of the atomic bombings (Purcell 82). Air power offered American forces a method of remaining relatively unscathed against the fanatical Japanese military while laying waste to entire cities. This was possible because while Japanese ground forces remained strong, air defense had been severely weakened. This gave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This system is based on Fuzzy Logic, adopting Mamdani model as the fuzzy inference mechanism and list of medical diseases. With diseases like swine flu and dengue fever, chicken pox, on the rise, which have symptoms, are so closely associated that it sometimes become practically Herculean task to differentiate between the above scribed diseases based on symptoms. Thus, it becomes inevitable to design such a system that would closely monitor the symptoms and infer the disease based on fuzzy inference system. This work is done by assigning different coefficients to each symptom of a disease and to predict and quantify the severity impact of the recognized disease. For predicting, the cure time of a disease, based on the symptoms. Perdition of cure time is clinically based on hypothetic studies and to estimate the cure time of a disease based on the symptoms. This urban legend is one of my favorites, it is very paranormal and that is something I would like to study one day. Bloody mary was a beautiful woman who was in a car accident in the 1700s. • 31. Cheerios Effect Essay Have you ever wondered why your cereal clusters together after milk is poured or why it sticks to the side of your bowl? Even if you try to pull them apart, they come together again. This is a spectacle that happens every day but we just don t really notice it. Most people don t really realize that it s happening everyday. Using fluid mechanics, we can determine why floating objects come together due to surface tension, viscosity and buoyancy (Grayson, 2014). This cheerios effect also applies to other floating objects such as paperclips. The main principles that cause objects to float together are surface tension, buoyancy and viscosity. Surface tension is caused by the presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When cheerios is put in milk, it creates a dent in the milks surface. Milk is attracted to the sides of the bowl; the milk forms a concave shape. The molecules being attracted to the bowl pulls the cheerios to the sides of the bowl. The surface tension under the milk is pulling the molecules down. Even if you try pulling apart the cheerios, the cheerios will stick together again. In water, an object has to be less dense than water to float. The same goes for cereal, which is less dense than milk and allows them to float. In liquids, cohesive forces are strong enough to keep molecules together but weak enough to slide past each other. Fluids with high viscosity have strong cohesive forces and fluids with low cohesive forces have weak cohesive forces. Viscosity can be calculated by its flow rate. Liquids with low viscosity have a high flow rate such as milk and water. Liquids with high viscosity have low flow rates such as honey. Milk has a low viscosity but different types of milk have different viscosity rates. Fat free milk flows faster than milk with fat content. Whole milk has a higher viscosity than fat free/non fat ... • 32. Ethical Implications Of Recognizing That Clients Influence... a. Discuss the ethical implications of recognizing that clients influence social workers. At what point does this impact cross ethical boundaries? In what ways can we maintain a professional relationship with clients, yet acknowledge how clients affect us? Clients influence social workers in many ways including both positive and negative ways. This influence can create change within ourselves, challenge us, help us grow, and inspire us in many ways. On the other hand, as social workers we will not always agree with the values, moral judgments, and behaviors of our clients. As we experience strong reactions to our clients values, moral judgments, and behaviors related to such things as parenting, domestic violence, or drug use we must be aware of how our clients influence us to be aware of how we respond to the client and the influence they have on us. If we are not aware of how our clients impact us we may respond unethically based on our personal values. If we are aware of the influence that our clients and these reactions have on us then we can be more aware of our reactions and responses to our clients to ensure we respond ethically. God places our clients in front of us to help each client make positive changes in their lives, not to convince our client to adopt our personal values, moral judgements, and behaviors. We can and should model for our clients, but we must not attempt to force our values and behaviors on our clients. This impact crosses ethical boundaries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the former, it is barely touched at all and most love interests are chaste whereas in the latter it is much more explicit. Throughout The Departed, it is apparent that sexuality goes hand in hand with masculinity: as expressed by Sullivan mocking the firemen for being gay when the police department loses to a football game. Most insults and threats invariably involve sexual references unlike Infernal Affairs. One interesting thing to analyze between the two films, is the psychological stress that is shown and acted out by the characters in the films. While The Departed is a longer film, it is slightly less psychologically nuanced than Infernal Affairs. Sullivan is not shown as truly evil, but his speculations are never really scrutinized. Costigan is easily seen conflicted, but that stems from his fear of being discovered and killed. In Infernal Affairs, it is somewhat clear that both Lau and Chen are feeling a disconnection between their internal and external self, stemming from their involvement in spying. The borderline between a police officer and a triad member becomes easier to cross. This shows the influence of culture on the overall film, and the subsequent narrative, plot and use of cinematic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If one was able to master the technique of deception, then it was likely that one will increase the chances of victory. In addition, it was crucial to become aware and analyze the enemy in order to determine if a planned and deceptive attack would work. HODGE COURSE AHS 1000# SEC #06 Paper One Final A metamorphosis of the paperweight 1984, by George Orwell, is an overwhelming novel that seeks to notify humanity about the dangers of authoritarian rule and the aftermath of it all. In the novel, the paperweight is one of the greatest symbols because it is futile and beauty exists in it. However it is a sign of rebellion, through its simple and yet peculiar nature, in the eyes of The Party; it contradicts the idea that everything and everyone must be useful. One can come to a consensus that the coral and the glass dome represent Winston and the upper room or party, respectively. This is due to the fact that the glass and or room encases the coral or in this case Winston, or so he thinks. One is also aware that the paperweight reveals a part of the past, which sparks Winston s curiosity to what the hope for freedom really meant in the past this is a form of rebellion as the idea of freedom from Oceana is forbidden by the party. However, Orwell argues that the seemingly positive significance of the paperweight will be at a state of compromise through the use of sense perception, the remembrance of the past, and the destruction of the paperweight. Because the paperweight is a representation of Julia and Winston in the secrecy of the room, it reveals an inaccurate psychological form of the truth. This layer has many layers before it reaches the second layer of the skin. This layer also gets nourishment, but not as much as the basal layer, so when the keratinocytes move to next layer of the epidermis they will slowly die until they get to the most superficial layer, there they will become dead cells. The next layer of the epidermis is the second superficial layer compared to the two deepest layers and it is called the stratum granulosum.
