The Ethics Of Living Jim Crow Stylistic Devices
In The Ethics of Living Jim Crow by Richard Wright, various stylistic devices and rhetorical strategies
are used such as symbolism, and colloquial language. The use of Wright s symbolism of the green
growing things establishes how African Americans were disadvantaged in their upcoming. In this, the
white boys which lived beyond the tracks were able to hide behind trees, hedges, and the sloping
embankments of their lawns. The symbolism of these green things, displays how white people had an
upper advantage in society, having luxurious lives to hide behind. Meanwhile, Wright remarked I didn
t have any trees or hedges to hide behind displaying how African Americans were not protected,
leaving them easily discriminated against and futile against attack. In this, Wright remarks that the
green things grew into an overarching symbol of fear. Furthermore, the use of colloquial language by
white people displayed how they had the freedom to say what they pleased, whereas Wright had to
talk formally to white people using phrases such as Yes, sir , and No, sir, Mr. Pease. Additionally,
Wright had to question every word he said, in an attempt to not to offend a white man, describing how
To have said: Thank you! would have made the white man think that you thought you were receiving
from him a personal service. For such an act I have seen Negroes take a blow in the mouth. Together,
these stylistic choices affect the tone and meaning of the work as they display the unjust

Sleep Wake Cycle
Sleep timing, duration, and quality can influence the release of growth hormone, cortisol, leptin, and
ghrelin. The sleep wake cycle also influences insulin secretion. Reduced sleep can have adverse
effects on metabolism and endocrine function. Disruptions in circadian rhythm and the sleep wake
cycle regulate the release of hypothalamic activating and inactivating factors that influence the release
of pituitary hormones and sympathetic and parasympathic activity. With reduced sleep, a study found
increased evening cortisol levels, decreased glucose tolerance and glucose sensitivity, and a slight
elevation of GH while awake (Leproult Van Cauter, 2009). Because the student sleeps less than 8
hours a night, this will reduce the leptin level and elevate ghrelin, so the appetite of the student will
probably increase, thus increasing the BMI as well. Ghrelin works to stimulate the appetite. (Taheri,
Lin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leptin works to signal the feeling of fullness from eating to the hypothalamus and regulates energy
usage and carbohydrate metabolism to prevent the student from gaining weight (Osama, 2016).
From the stress of school and shift work during the night, this can increase the hormone cortisol,
which can increase the BMI. (Manenschijn, van Kruysbergen, de Jong, Koper, van Rossum, 2011).
Cortisol is a glucocorticoid made from cholesterol in the adrenal glands. Stress can stimulate the
release of cortisol. It also functions to regulate energy by selecting if the body needs carbohydrates,
fats, or proteins to function at a particular moment (Aronson, 2009). The central nervous system
responds to perceived stress and causes changes in the endocrine system. In the endocrine

Willa Paskin s Game Of Thrones
Willa Paskin s argument was stating that the Game of Thrones was trying to be something it s not.
Basically not trying to give the audience what they want nor expect, to leave some mystery in the fairy
tale. Though I personally don t watch Game of Thrones, I assume season six to be different because it
gives the audience exactly what the want, there is no twist to this season its just getting right to the
point. Another point is made when the women take over, that something that usually never happens, so
yet Game of Thrones are giving the audience what they want. It is significant because it is a win, lose
situation, the women are in charge now so it gives the female viewers something cheer about. One the
other hand, what are the men going

Cults In Research Paper
There are close patterns of interaction among cult members, as well as retaliatory actions on the part
of the host culture toward them all of which create an even more clearly defined religiously deviant
subculture for cults. Cults leader is likely to be solitary, powerful, charismatic figure. Many
characterize cults as lacking a formal organizational structure and as largely controlled in an
authoritative manner by their leader. Cults are often defined and identified by the names of their
leaders, at least in the popular media. Barnes and Becker said Charismatic domination is established
through the extraordinary qualities of the leader. Law is not the source of authority; on the contrary, he
or she proclaims new laws on the basis of revelation, oracular utterance, and inspiration. There is a
fact that cults are in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Greil and Rudy have noted that many organizations are best conceived as parareligious or quasi
religious because they have mixed characteristics, some of which are sacred and others secular.
However, as novel forms of religious identity, cults are likely to be severely challenged by mainstream
culture. Pfeifer found that the vast majority of college students in his sample described an average cult
member only in negative terms; not a single student used positive terms. He divided them into three
groups and had them to respond to one of the three vignettes describing three groups, but each was
selected based upon popular notions of alleged authoritarian structures and near total environmental
control of members, who are kept isolated for the wider society. The vignettes were identical except
for the groups specified that were Marines, Moonies, or priests. The vignette described a typical
recruit, Bill, at the relevant group facility. He said that when Bill was at the facility, he was not

Comparison Of Theoretical Strategies For Business Process...
Construct a fully referenced literature review to compare and contrast theoretical strategies for
business process improvement and successful change management. All reports must include
references to Six Sigma and Lean.
I INTRODUCTION
Over multiple years, humans have evolved in many different ways, allowing them to adapt to their
environment. Intellectually or physically mankind has shown facilities to conquer new grounds of
reworking themselves towards better outcomes. In the business world, where theories and strategies
combine, helpfully guiding those thrilling for adventures. Theories are an intriguing way of trying new
experiments and setting an analysis, which might end up being true or shown to be false. Business
Process Improvement (BPI) is a strategic way of planning in order to foresee which sector of a
business has the potential to be encouraged or improved, leading to an overall business growth. As
evolution can be a constant threat and opportunity in the business world, it is a merger role for
managers to be aware and adapt their structure for improvement in order to compete with rival firms.
As W. Edwards says, It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory . (Jacobson, 2015) On
the other hand, Successful Change Management (SCM) is a kind of approach to redirect a process
within an organisation or the organisation itself towards its allocation of resources, budget, modes of
operations etc. It reshapes the company through a more efficient

Production Assistant Job Analysis
I had worked as a production assistant before during the summer, however I had never worked in
fabrication for pre production. For my work as a production assistant on set for the senior thesis film,
Duet, directed by Lucas Bugbee and produced by Daniel Debach. My first job on set was helping set
up furniture and tables out in the backyard for crew stations such as craft services, camera, and
makeup. One we began setting up lights in the house we were filming, I assisted in laying down ram
board for the grip and electric so that they could place lights down without damaging the old floors.
Another job we had was making sure people outside the house were quiet since we were rolling

We had a close call of with one of the cats getting out and the crew frantically herding this cat back
into the house. After that point, production was much harder on the cast and crew about keeping the
door closed. I assisted art department in moving furniture in the house for what was needed by the
crew. I later assisted the UPM pick up and set up lunch for actors and crew. Another job the
production team manage was bringing food to cast and crew, having a child on set we had to more on
top of making sure water and food were easily available to them. One small issue was occasionally
grip and electric were not available to grab small items such as apple boxes and sandbags, so
production would fly those in. Although aware this is not how professional shoots work, the
production crew went along due to how light the crew was. One thing I got to learn about while the
shoot was seeing the producer and UPM assemble top sheets. The producer programmed the
spreadsheet to read green when actual costs were under the predicted costs and red for if the actual
costs were higher than the predicted costs. This experience allowed me to learn more about production
management and cost management during this

How Does Cosplaying Affect Society
Cosplay isn t like the costumes you wear during Halloween. It is more like dressing up like one of
your favorite characters. Cosplay is for everyone and anyone that wants to dress up however they want
to. Cosplaying has a big impact on society because people all over the world go to a conventions so
they can cosplay however they want. It started as people cosplaying as sci fi and space military style
uniform and developed into dressing up as characters from movies, comic books, and any form of
entertainment out there. What began as a fun hobby developed into a contest of who can wear it or
make it better. Some people take cosplaying to the next level. They ll work months on a costume and
then dress up on that specific day to cosplay.

Adoption Is A Popular Choice
Adoption is a popular choice in the U.S., but much controversy surrounds it. For the adopted children,
there can be problems and hurdles they may come across their paths later. Not having access to birth
records means not having access to their history. To be able to unlock these records, many
requirements need to be met in order to have their case considered by a judge who may or may not
grant the adopted person the requested records. In order to gain an understanding of what they have
come from and what might affect their futures, adoption records should not be sealed for adults who
have been adopted. The U.S. has numerous laws regarding sealed adoption records and all are
different depending on the state. Originally adoption records ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The rewritten certificate does not include any identifying information. The adoptee s name on this
certificate is the one given to them by the adoptive parents, the hospital they were born in is not
included, and neither are the names and ages of their birth parents (Goodman). With birth records
sealed, adoptees are not able to obtain information of their heritage or future health problems they may
encounter. Since valuable information is kept secret, some adoptive parents along with birth parents
are in agreement with many adult adoptees about having sealed adoption laws changed. All involved
parties have been trying to get laws passed for birth records to be opened once the adoptee turns 18.
These issues call for the different states to unite and make changes to the old laws. The desire for
sealed adoption records to be made available for adult adoptees is rising. A significant push for these
state laws to be changed has been from adult adoptees and their birth parents along with some
adoptive parents. For the adoptees in favor of this, all have different reasons. One of the most common
reasons, is that it is hard for them to feel like they truly know themselves when they do not fully know
where they came from. One said it was like starting your life with Chapter 2, never knowing the
Chapter 1 of your story (Henderson). They want to know their heritage and their genealogy along with

Management Performance Evaluation Of Employees
Managers s play a huge role in performance evaluation of employees. There are several factors that
contribute to how managers assess performance evaluation, these components are orientation, training,
development, feedback, and annual performance appraisals (). Human Resource managers are
important to the performance appraisal process, because they make sure that the appraisal is fair,
detailed, and the managers are handling the appraisals professionally(). In order to properly ensure
that the performance appraisals are conducted in a fairly, HR managers need to make sure that the
appraisals are non discriminatory. As an Human Resource manager it is important that the managers
who conduct the performance appraisals are properly trained on ... Show more content on

Performance evaluations can also aid in helping an organization reach their future goals. They allow
managers and employee to sit down and think strategically on how the organization can reach their
goals in the upcoming year. Not only does it give an opportunity to achieve the organization s goals,
but it also can encourage employees to set their own standards and goals on themselves for the next
work year. Using performance appraisal can ultimately assist organizations on reaching their strategic
goals and giving them an internal advantage against competition. If performance appraisals are not
done properly, this could lead to many negative consequences for an organization. The first thing to
recognize when doing performance appraisal it takes a long period of time to properly conduct
performance evaluations. It can become extremely stressful and overwhelming to managers, because
they have to evaluate all of their employees. This can lead to managers having a negative attitude
towards performance reviews. Another issue with performance appraisals is if they are mishandled
during the process. If a manager is poorly trained and is not knowledgeable in how to properly carry
out these appraisals, a bad review could lead to an extremely negative and hostile work environment
for the manager and employees. This could also lead to possible legal issues for the organization if
they are not careful about the procedure in which they use

The Teachings Of Buddhism And Buddhism
Buddhism is among one of the ancient religions that emerged in the early 4th and 6th century. The
religion differs in many aspects with other religions, especially due to its emphatic teaching in the way
of life in the society. The teachings of Buddhism religion, originated from that ideas presented by
Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha Gautama was known by many of his followers as Buddha. The name
Buddha was used to mean the Awakened One (Yeh, 92). His definition among the natives of the
Eastern Indian, which is where he started his philosophical teachings, emphasized that the only way
that social beings could relieve themselves from the chains of ignorance was through understanding of
the truth. As a result, everybody would be conscious of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Buddhists, it is impossible for men. Gautama continued his teachings on self actualization through
the Four Immeasurable, the Four Noble Folds, the Five Precepts and the Noble Eightfold Path (About
Buddhism).
The guiding belief that defines the Buddhists way of good life is that a self conscious person, free of
ignorance character will never be haunted by the evils of desire and ignorance and will remain
awakened to brace life. That principle of the Buddha could be associated with a human being s way of
life and reasoning. Regardless of our religious doctrines, Gautama s teachings explain the basic
characters that every living being should embrace and put in practice in order to understand life.
Various religious experts and philosophers have developed various notions and opinions about the
teachings of Gautama. For instance, Christian believers differ with Buddha s definition of rebirth as a
continuous process and dynamic change in every human being. On the contrary, Christians believe in
life after birth as the start of rebirth and eternity.
With such divergent developments, people have been left to wonder, are Buddhism teachings the
explanation to the reality of life, and has it directly influenced how people live regardless of their
affiliated religions? The question would face divergence of opinions; however, Gautama s advocacy
on self meditation could be the defining path to link

Many people may benefits from a balanced vitamin and mineral supplement, including those who
have irregular eating habits, skip meals, or eat large amounts of processed and refined foods. There are
also certain groups of people who are at particular risk of nutrient deficiencies because of other
lifestyle, environmental or disease factors. Some people see supplements as health insurance and some
take them for what they see as their specific benefits. For example, vitamin C for colds. However, it is
important to select your vitamins based upon what you really need. The amount of vitamin you take
should be based upon your own requirements. Proper dosageis very important since a program
designed for health maintenance differs from one designed to overcome a specific disorder. All
vitamin supplements work best when taken in combination with food (Sy 2002). Even if you take a
vitamin supplement, you still need to have a balance healthy diet because there are still beneficial
chemicals needed by the body that can be gain from the food we eat (Reyes 2000). The most
important thing to remember is that supplements are no substitute to balance diet. Quirino (2002) says
Supplements cannot meet all body s nutritional requirements. You can

Summary Of The Concert By Gerrit Van Honthorst
The art work of Gerrit Van Honthorst called The Concert was painted during the 15th or 16th century.
The title of the painting gives a clue as to what is happening within the painting. The painting is an oil,
canvas. The title The Concert suggests just as in the painting, a group of people is gathering for a
concert. There are intense muted hues of yellow, blue, red, and green. The painting contains traditional
linear perspective and the book placed on the table helps create the 3 D dimensional on the overall
painting. The shapes of the figures are sharply defined and the objects such as the table, book, and
string instruments. There are diagonal rhythms throughout the painting in which it creates movement.
The light source in the upper left allows the source light to have a more natural appearance throughout
the painting. The shadows at the right hand corner and the men wearing green in the middle contrast
the main object with the most sources of lighting. The objects shadows and lighting create dimension
and a vivid sense of more contrast. There are areas in the making with more contrast and the sharp
contrast that creates movement in the painting. The shadows and the lighting throughout the painting
show gradations and the highlights create more depth. Staring from the upper left hand corner with the
first figure of a gentleman wearing a hue of blue and yellow, the left side of his face and garment
shows the source light in right above him. The source light above the

Characteristics Of Regionalism
Essay 1
American Literature 2328
Fall 2017
Professor Roy Ruane
Tham Paija October 2, 2017
Realism is the portrayal of the reality of everyday life and period of literature between 1850 1900.
Realist fictions speculate myths, assumptions, social norms, sentimentality, collective wisdom, and
prejudices. Realism stories are usually about the middle class people, and it aims to show a truthful
portrayal of truth. Regionalism is a class of realist literature distinguished by closeness to the habits,
language, dialects, manners, history, traditions, beliefs of a particular geographical region.
Regionalism manifests the characters of both realism and romanticism. Romanticism is cultural the
period from 1830 1860 in America. Humankind is naturally good. The characteristics of romanticism
are passion and emotion, nature over the man, spiritual, intuition, and insight. A White Heron, by
Sarah Orne Jewett, is an example of local color because of its realism. Jewett uses characteristics of
regionalism like dialogue to show the contrast between the locals and outsiders, habits, their daily
activities, the dress, features of a place. Editha by William is the story of realism which has many
characteristics of realism like details about war; he uses dialect to hold out the trend of the story, using
middle class peoples character. Dean Howell uses a part of romantic style but all together its

Exxon Valdez and the Recovery of Prince William Sound Essay
Exxon Valdez and the Recovery of Prince William Sound
Approximately eleven years ago, an area of Alaska s southern coast known as Prince William Sound
was a disaster area. A nauseating scent of rotting carcasses and oil filtered through the air. Sea birds
screamed in anguish as they fought to survive with oil drenched feathers. Under the surface billions of
organisms ceased to live due to the toxicity of the inescapable wrath of the blackened water. Prince
William Sound had once been a place of beauty and grace, now it was home to an environmental
deathbed. The media broadcast pictures of this nearly unbearable scene throughout the world. Most

Massive cleanup efforts were initiated within a few weeks of the spill and they continued at reduced
levels for the next three years. Approximately 14% of the spilled oil was recovered by cleanup crews
(Newsweek, p.50). As a result of these efforts and natural weathering, little oil from the spill remained
in the affected area by 1992. However, according to the National Oceanic and Atmosphere
Administration some oil residues are still found under the ocean surface in areas sheltered from wind
and waves. Yet, these residues are highly weathered and the toxicity is reduced to levels tolerable by
organisms in the water (7). Nonetheless, the magnitude and timing of the Exxon Valdez oil spill raised
immediate concerns about possible effects on marine fish and wildlife and prospects that these effects
might be long lasting. Professors John Wiens and David Page spent many years studying theses effects
of the oil spill and they presented their findings at the International Oil Spill Conference in Seattle,
March 8 11, 1999. Their findings contain the most recent results of the ongoing studies in Prince
William Sound. Through extensive work with three different groups of animals affected by the spill,
they have exhibited a remarkable recovery by the ecosystem of Prince William Sound (Wiens, Page et
al.). The first species the scientists studied is pink

Clean Water Act Argument Essay
Furthermore, the Shore Protection Act is applicable to the transportation of municipal and commercial
waste in coastal waters aiming to minimize debris from being deposited into coastal waters from
inadequate waste handling procedures by waste transporting vessels (Laws That Protect). The Center
for Biodiversity had petitioned the EPA to begin regulating plastics as a pollutant under The Clean
Water Act a crucial first step in reducing the amount of plastic. The Clean Water Act is the nation s
strongest law protecting water quality. Recognition of plastic pollution under the clean water act

Serving as the number one source of our plastic use, companies opt for plastic containers because it s
easy, feasible, and convenient. Food packaging alone makes up for 30 40% of landfills with much of
that plastic being carried into the oceans. Going off of this, a new concept that s quickly becoming
popular are package free grocery stores. These cost effective grocery stores have everything you could
possible need in bulk form and consumers bring glass or reusable containers, or cloth bags and fill
them with the food they need. First popping up in cities like Berlin, Vienna, and Barcelona, many are
finding this a more sustainable and eco friendly option resulting in these sort of grocery stores quickly
spreading across the ocean, with the first one in the United States expected to open in Brooklyn, New
York. Business operators are extremely optimistic that this could serve a very impactful solution to
getting rid of unnecessary plastic. (Che Jenny).
In conclusion, it should have been learned that the issue of plastic pollution has become ruinous. The
cost of repair and the inconvenience of lifestyle changes cannot compare to the frightful future this
planet is headed. At current rates, hazards are not just inflicted on Earth s oceans but individual human
health and the other creatures that rightly inhabit this land. With this concern

5.3.2 Recommendation by MPKB Imposed stricter punishment Besides that, other recommendation
that could be done to improve the MPKB s effort is to impose stricter punishment to those who not
pay the tax such as the assessment tax or not paying permit to sell at the stalls. This is because, MPKB
had taken a lot of efforts in order to ensure the implementation of the Safe City Programme to be
successful such as by providing the infrastructure, maintenance of the areas, design a physical
environment that is safe and informing the people about the programme through the mass media.
However, in order to continuously do the effort, MPKB needs to have strong financial resources and
this not only come from the Federal Government but also from the state government or the local
government itself. Generally, the resources for financial of MPKB comes from the tax. The tax then
will be used in order to do the maintenance of the Safe City programme such as the facilities.

Confederate Flag Research Paper
We all have heard the romantic story of our flag. How Betsy Ross sat in her living room all night,
sewing together the stars and stripes. Today, Betsy s masterpiece still flies high all around our country,
but, in many of the southern states, there is a second flag that flies with it. The Confederate flag. The
birth story of this war flag is not romantic in any shape or form. During the Civil War, there was much
confusion on the battlefield between the original Confederate flag, Stars and Bars , and our Stars and
Stripes . So the leaders of the Confederates had their Committee on the Flag and Seal create a totally
different flag to use for the battlefield, and they would use their original flag for parades. Hence, the

Like many armies, the Confederates decided to make statues and monuments for the men and women
who did a spectacular thing. The United Daughters of the Confederacy memorial was put up in 1934
and dedicated to the Loyal Women of the Old South . The Augusta Confederate Monument in
Augusta, Georgia was dedicated 1878 in to represent Private Benson, General Robert E. Lee, General
Stonewall Jackson, General T.R.R. Cobb and General W.H.T. And the most common memorial, the
Confederate Flag itself. There are eight statues dedicated to Confederate war heroes in Washington
D.C. at the National Statuary Hall Collection. There is a statue for Jefferson Davis, a statue for
Alexander Stephens, a statue for Joseph Wheeler, a statue for Colonel Zebulon Baird Vance, a statue
for General Robert E. Lee, for James Z. George, for Wade Hampton III, for Edmund Kirby, for John
E. Kenna, and for Chancellor Uriah M. Rose. All of these men and women are being commemorated
for their excellent work in the war for slavery. These people thought of other races to be worth less
than dirt; they couldn t have cared less about these people. In fact, they didn t even see other races as
human beings. After centuries of white supremacy, we have finally been convinced that other races are
just as valuable as us. So why do we still have these statues? Why do we still hold these men and

The World Has Advanced Over The Centuries. To Ensure...
The world has advanced over the centuries. To ensure progression and growth, society must embrace
organizations which support improving the quality of human life. The United Nations is one such
organization that has ensured the well being of the human race by collaborating internationally on how
to tactically approach conflicts. From combating terrorism to eradicating smallpox, the United Nations
has resolved numerous foreign issues and international crises. The creation of the United Nations
continues to be critical because the organization is a fundamental necessity for global peace, good

The organization has also been working to prevent sexual violence. Unrightfully, rape has been used
as a weapon of war. During the genocide of Rwanda, a whopping 250,000 women fell victim to this
act. This terrible crime has also been used in the civil war of Sierra Leone, the breakup of Yugoslavia,
war in Liberia, and war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sexual violence has also characterized
conflicts in many Islamic nations. The UN has helped countries implement laws that criminalize war
rape, and prevent perpetrators from punishment exemption. Although the UN has made mistakes in
the past, lessons are learned and improvements are made. One such mistake was the massacre of
Srebrenica. During the Yugoslavian War, ethnic groups were fighting for independence, and
eventually, Yugoslavia broke apart. Today, Yugoslavian land is owned by Croatia, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Serbia, and other Eastern European nations. The town of Srebrenica was meant to be a
safe haven for Bosnian Muslims. The UN authorized the town as a safe zone, with 60 Dutch
peacekeepers guarding the town. However, peace came to catastrophe in July 1995, and Serbs were
coming to invade. To start off the massacre, Serbs shelled the city, and took 30 Dutch peacekeepers
hostage. Dutch Colonel Thom Karremans asked the UN for air support. However, the UN did not
respond, thinking everything was under control. As the days followed, more men and boys were
killed. At the end of the massacre, the Dutch

Racial Discrimination And Related Treatment Of African...
According to Merriam Webster, Racism is defined as a belief that race is the primary determinant of
human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular
race (Merriam Webster, n.d.). Knowing this, Racism is certainly not particular to the United States of
America, As Alex Haley, the author of Roots, told Scott Ross, CBN journalist, in a 1992 interview, If
you think about it, ...there is no grouping of people to my knowledge, of any consequence, who have
not, at one or another time, been the object of hatred, racism, or who has not had people against them
just because they were them (Ross 2016). Racial discrimination and related treatment of African
Americans over the decades may be deeply rooted in American culture. In fact, it can be traced to the
Founding Fathers. As history tells us, two of the most famous Founding Fathers owned slaves, and it
goes without saying that for one to justify another s enslavement as did wealthy American colonials
that person would have to hold to the belief that the slave is by definition, and inferior being. Our first
and third presidents: George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slave owners and their treatment
of African Americans is well documented. (Smithsonian, 2015) The dehumanizing way Early
Americans treated Africans who were imported as slave labor became universally accepted among the
population from the very beginning while still under British rule. In spite of the

ruddiness showed astonishing vitality in a man of his years. For the rest, his ears were pale and the

What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay
The F Word
What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the
various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of
the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the
stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image of
an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because
women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re establish
the rightful definition of Feminism.
When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41% voted
yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and simply filled
with feminists and Gender Snobs . Any woman who openly states that she is a feminist is
automatically judged and labelled as Man hater and a radical female . The real definition of a feminist
is the advocacy of women s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes . So why is our society
discriminating and judging any person who openly admits to wanting equal rights for women? ...

the society. Furthermore, Atwood talks about the importance of having ¡§voice¡¨ as a power or

In the story, there is an exploration of female vulnerability, and victimization in the rape fantasies.

Therefore, the imagined rapists fail to rape Estelle as there is sharing and emotional communication
between both sexes. Although the society is changing, female are still burdened by the social
inequalities and rules. They have the right to reject all the inequalities by speaking out, saying ¡§no¡¨,
but most of the female fail to do that. Likewise, the issue of power is also concerned in ¡§Where are
you going? Where have you been?¡¨. In the final scene of it, Arnold gains domination in his talking
while Connie only makes short sentences. He uses psychological manipulation to threat Connie who
fails to find any ways to resist that she surrenders and satisfies the desires of the man. Connie fails to
find her ¡§voice¡¨ to fight the threat. Voice is very important to female. So Atwood emphasizes the
idea of communication in her story to demonstrate that there is an equal share of power between men
and women if both sides talk and listen to each other. Through talking and listening, men and women
can come to understand one another. Thus, crime and pain can be avoided due to the mutual sympathy.
Women can never fight their humiliating figure under the domination of men with their physical
strength because it is not comparable to man. Voice is the solution to victimization. If a woman cannot
find her voice, she can only end up to be a stereotyping woman who is being treated

The Effects of Market Orientation and Service Innovation...
Abstract This study examines how market orientation affects a firm s service innovation and
consequently, the firm s market and financial performance. The findings indicate that if firms use
customer orientation, the firm is more likely to adopt incremental service innovation, while if a firm
uses competitor orientation, the firm is more likely to adopt radical service innovation. Finally,
incremental and radical service innovations lead to greater market performance and in turn, greater
financial performance.

How service firms use market orientation has attracted great attention in innovation literature
(Agarwal et al. 2003; Manzano et al. 2005). Market orientation refers to the organizational culture that

Inter functional coordination, a third component of market orientation, coordinates a firm s resources
and market related activities. Because customer and competitive orientations are two primary ways
that service firms use to cope with markets (Zhou et al. 2009), this study focuses on the customer and
competitor orientations and regards inter functional coordination as a control variable.
The degree of service innovation ranges from a totally new or discontinuous innovation to a service
involving a minor improvement or a dramatic change (Griffin, 1997; Avlonitis et al., 2001; Garcia and
Calantone, 2002). Although several service innovation types have been proposed (Gadrey et al. 1995;
Debackere et al. 1998; Avlonitis et al. 2001; Berry et al. 2006; Paswan et al. 2009), in this study,
because we are concerned with the greatest and the least degree of service innovation, service
innovation is differentiated into incremental and radical innovation. Such a differentiation has been
frequently used in similar innovation research (Olsen and Sallis 2006; Min et al. 2006; Song and
Thieme 2009).
Incremental service innovation is related to customer led strategies that focus on manifest needs
(Connor 1999; Slater and Narver 1999) and is posited to be the most common form of innovation
(Bell et al. 2002; Slater and Narver 1999). Customer led businesses focus on understanding the

Rawls Maximin Principle
Rawls Maximin Principle: Is It Really The Most Rational Solution?
Political philosophy aims to reflect the normative and conceptual dimensions of political life.
American philosopher John Rawls is widely recognized as one of the leading political philosophers of
the twentieth century. His A Theory of Justice (1971) is one of the primary texts in political
philosophy and proposes two principles of justice. The first, the liberty principle, defines basic
liberties and the second, the difference principle, regulates disparity within rights, powers, and
privileges through what is known as a maximin strategy . The difference principle and underlying

If you have a strong desire to get more than the minimum outcome, then it will be rational to go for
the option with a greater maximum possibility, even if it has a minimum which is worse than the
others. The final condition is that the alternatives have unacceptable worst possible outcomes. If the
alternatives had acceptable minimums, then one might be willing to take a blind chance, and opt for
principles that may result in a system in which you have less than you could have – since the least isn
t so bad .
In theory, the difference principle and maximin solution seem quite plausible but after close scrutiny
one begins to notice the loopholes that arise and are cause for criticism. These loopholes can be found
in many aspects of the theory, in particular the definition of the original position, the influence of
natural talents on inequalities, and the risk adverse specification.
The description of the original position is rigged to yield the difference principle as Rawls will admit .
Those who object to the conditions of the veil of ignorance purpose that people in the original position

Essay on Critical Thinking
The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in the
world today. Critical thinking allows people to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer
and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical thinking.
In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments
are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think critically, every situation that a
person comes across would have to be considered in isolation from all other situations. When a person
encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be able to use critical thinking to solve those
problems. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Critical thinking also helps in decision making. Both problem solving and decision making abilities
are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who are critical thinkers can make a difference in the
companies in which they are employed. Today?s corporations must first recognize that there is a real
need for critical thinkers. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical thinking
must be taught and built in to the way the company or organization performs its business. In fact,
companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical thinking can lead
to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or organization credibility.
According to Supon, one of the fundamental purposes of teaching critical thinking is to enhance the
abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders, educational researchers, employers,
and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their students in the development of critical
thinking ability. Critical thinking is a skill that ?involved not only knowledge of content by also
concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing conclusions, recognizing and avoiding
contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities? (Supon, 1998). There are proposed reasons for
the emphasis that is currently on critical thinking. Many factors can be related to this emphasis. They

Should Humans Consume Insects as an Alternate Source of Food? Intro Cultivating animals and crops
takes countless amount of hours and use an abundance of resources; furthermore, it produces waste
that can be harmful to the environment. The human population is increasing at an ever increasing rate
and scientists all over the world are trying to solve a global issue. It is estimated by the UN that the
population will hit 9.7 billion by 2050; undoubtedly, these inefficient and wasteful processes will not
suffice. What about insects, there are plentiful in supply and are packed with proteins and other
nutrients that the body needs; furthermore, using insects in our main diets will decrease the need for
domesticated animals which causes creates problems for everyone; in contrast to insects, which have
versatile ways for people to choose from, use less resources, and produce less waste. Lastly, if we

Human Behaviour In Macbeth
Shakespeare has written many plays that are still popular in the English language and literature.
Macbeth is one of Shakespeare greatest tragedies, a drama of crime and punishment. The play depicts
strong human behaviour. In this essay, I will discuss who had the greatest impact on King Duncan
death.
Macbeth was thought to be written for the sole purpose of entraining the King of England, during
Shakespearean time. As James I King of England was fascinated by witchcraft and the belief of black
magic was popular during that era.
Initially, Shakespeare creates a ghastly atmosphere by introducing the three witches. The three witches
are characters answering to the fates of the mythology. They are first introduced by the famous quote
fair is foul, and foul is fair , this enigmatic line contains an oxymoron .As this paradox explains the
discrepancy between appearance and reality. It also, signifies that there is no significance between
good or bad as their roles can be reversed. This is one of the crucial structural components in the

causes a devastating amount of damage harms many areas of New Zealand.
What is 1080 used for
1080 is a poison used to protect the threats to native animals and plants from introduced species. The
pest control poison is effective in killing these introduced species which kill our native animals/plants
especially rats, stoats and possums.
Mainly found in vegetation lands, it prevents pests from eating healthy crops and native animals.
However, 1080 is a hazard to children, dogs, and many other animals. This potential hazard can spread
to bodies of water and can be present in a specific areas for an extravagant amount of time. This
danger makes 1080 an unethical choice for controlling pests.
Recently, in 2015, a nationwide scare was put on Fonterra Baby Formula. An anonymous letter sent to
major news corporations (residing in New Zealand) threatened the safety of the baby formula.
Included was baby formula laced with 1080 hazardous pest control poison as well as a threat to lace

Religion and Love in For the Relief of Unbearable Urge by...
Nathan Englander s For the Relief of Unbearable Urges depicts how a man s devotion for his wife,
and he is faith ironically leads to infidelity and a physical reminder of his betrayal. The protagonist
Dov is caught between religion and love, he being what he assumes is a good husband, when
confronted with marital issues turns to religion. Eventually Dov s devotion and faith are rewarded by
misfortune that is even more unbearable than his original sexual urges. Dov although what he does is
wrong I believe he has great reasons. He is a representation of a misguided and loving husband, who
is quite religious. Though his actions do not seem that way. He goes to a Rebbe to ask for advice as to
what to do to get rid of his sexual urges since his wife refuses to lay with him, in the beginning it
seems that she is unhappy, even unhappy being his wife saying I might also have been put on this
earth as a bar of soap or a kugel. Better, better it should have been one if those (). Dov on the other
hand is absolutely in love with her and wants her to want him, but she is unresponsive to his attempts.
He does not want to divorce her, he loves her, and the Rebbe explains that Dov s wife, Chava is testing
him and she d be responsive if he ignore her in the meanwhile the Rebbe suggest a prostitute, more
like prescribes Dov sleep with a prostitute to get rid of and find relief for his unbearable urges . Dov
goes through with the Rebbe s suggestion. At what cost? As a result

Avengers Age Of Ultron Essay
Avengers Age Of Ultron was certainly one of the most hyped films of 2015. Considering how good
The Avengers was, I couldn t help but expect a film of the same calibre. Unfortunately, I can t say it is.
I m sure it s not a bad film, in fact I came out of the cinema thinking it was a successor to the first, but
all the action scenes were steering me away from some weak points in the film, Josh Whedon s lack of
story and interesting direction disappointed me the most.
The film follows the aftermath from Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, The Avengers and Captain
America: The winter solider. Age of Ultron opens with the heroes all together trying to capture hydra
informants that have attained technology from beyond this world. This calls for ... Show more content

Just like in The Avengers the one liners are back and they offer quite a few laughs. The strongest
actors in my opinion were Chris Evens (Captain America) Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man) and Chris
Hemsworth (Thor) because these were the best at being humorous while still kicking CGI butt. The
noob Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson) who played Kick ass (in Kick ass ) was a surprise for me, he
acted on par but I kept seeing his character from his other movies, the accent he put on was a tiny bit
cringe in some parts but he did good for his first full marvel movie. His sister in the film Scarlet Witch
(Elizabeth Olsen) played a solid part which was full of emotion. I can t leave out the big guy Hulk
(Mark Ruffalo) who played a decent part, especially when on screen with The Black Widow (Scarlett
Johansson) who goes through some past memories that bring out her emotions. I was also very
impressed with Hawkeye (Clint Barton) as he is just a guy with a bow, and this helps bring out the
humanity in the team. He performed very well and had more screen time than I thought he would get,
but that is not a bad

Saudi Arabia- Medical Equipment Case Questions
Medical Equipment Inc. In Saudi Arabia Case Questions
1. What options does Grover have? You should have at least three. Review the pros and cons of each.
In order to keep his actions ethical and integral, Grover has several options to explore. Firstly, he
could confront Najjar about the speculation of a bribe winning him the sale of equipment for Wilson s.
He could gently remind his competitor of ethical standards that are expected to be upheld in such
business transactions. In this situation he would have to be considerate of the great differences
between cultural, religious (and of course), business environment and norms. This may give Grover
some peace of mind ( you can t do that because it s not fair ), however it is very unlikely ... Show

This fourth option would mean Grover most likely leaving his career with Medical Equipment and
having to start anew elsewhere, where he feels comfortable with the tasks assigned to him.
2. What would you do if you were Grover, and why? Provide a solid rationale. If I were Grover I
would choose the third option. I would offer Humaidi a complementary trip to the U.S. or France (his
choice) to view one of Medical Equipment s showrooms. In my opinion, offering this trip does not
lack justifiable grounds as stated in the company s Entertainment and Gifts policy. Humaidi may
decline the trip, or even take the trip but not follow through with the sale; however Grover would have
no doubt that he had taken every social, professional, legal and ethical measure possible to try and
secure the sale. As a side note, one might consider the Hofstede dimensions for Saudi Arabia versus
the United States. Saudi Arabia has a very high Uncertainty Avoidance compared to the United States.
It may be possible that Humaidi wishes to remain loyal to Wilson s because he has tried and tested
business with them already although Medical Equipment s offer seems to be more beneficial to the
company, he may not be taking it for fear of making a mistake and choosing a bad company to trust.

  • 2. The Ethics Of Living Jim Crow Stylistic Devices In The Ethics of Living Jim Crow by Richard Wright, various stylistic devices and rhetorical strategies are used such as symbolism, and colloquial language. The use of Wright s symbolism of the green growing things establishes how African Americans were disadvantaged in their upcoming. In this, the white boys which lived beyond the tracks were able to hide behind trees, hedges, and the sloping embankments of their lawns. The symbolism of these green things, displays how white people had an upper advantage in society, having luxurious lives to hide behind. Meanwhile, Wright remarked I didn t have any trees or hedges to hide behind displaying how African Americans were not protected, leaving them easily discriminated against and futile against attack. In this, Wright remarks that the green things grew into an overarching symbol of fear. Furthermore, the use of colloquial language by white people displayed how they had the freedom to say what they pleased, whereas Wright had to talk formally to white people using phrases such as Yes, sir , and No, sir, Mr. Pease. Additionally, Wright had to question every word he said, in an attempt to not to offend a white man, describing how To have said: Thank you! would have made the white man think that you thought you were receiving from him a personal service. For such an act I have seen Negroes take a blow in the mouth. Together, these stylistic choices affect the tone and meaning of the work as they display the unjust ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reduced sleep can have adverse effects on metabolism and endocrine function. Disruptions in circadian rhythm and the sleep wake cycle regulate the release of hypothalamic activating and inactivating factors that influence the release of pituitary hormones and sympathetic and parasympathic activity. With reduced sleep, a study found increased evening cortisol levels, decreased glucose tolerance and glucose sensitivity, and a slight elevation of GH while awake (Leproult Van Cauter, 2009). Because the student sleeps less than 8 hours a night, this will reduce the leptin level and elevate ghrelin, so the appetite of the student will probably increase, thus increasing the BMI as well. He divided them into three groups and had them to respond to one of the three vignettes describing three groups, but each was selected based upon popular notions of alleged authoritarian structures and near total environmental control of members, who are kept isolated for the wider society. The birth story of this war flag is not romantic in any shape or form. During the Civil War, there was much confusion on the battlefield between the original Confederate flag, Stars and Bars , and our Stars and Stripes . According to Merriam Webster, Racism is defined as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race (Merriam Webster, n.d.). Knowing this, Racism is certainly not particular to the United States of America, As Alex Haley, the author of Roots, told Scott Ross, CBN journalist, in a 1992 interview, If you think about it, ...there is no grouping of people to my knowledge, of any consequence, who have not, at one or another time, been the object of hatred, racism, or who has not had people against them just because they were them (Ross 2016). Racial discrimination and related treatment of African Americans over the decades may be deeply rooted in American culture. In fact, it can be traced to the Founding Fathers. As history tells us, two of the most famous Founding Fathers owned slaves, and it goes without saying that for one to justify another s enslavement as did wealthy American colonials that person would have to hold to the belief that the slave is by definition, and inferior being. Our first and third presidents: George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slave owners and their treatment of African Americans is well documented. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Because customer and competitive orientations are two primary ways that service firms use to cope with markets (Zhou et al. 2009), this study focuses on the customer and competitor orientations and regards inter functional coordination as a control variable. The degree of service innovation ranges from a totally new or discontinuous innovation to a service involving a minor improvement or a dramatic change (Griffin, 1997; Avlonitis et al., 2001; Garcia and Calantone, 2002). Although several service innovation types have been proposed (Gadrey et al. 1995; Debackere et al. 1998; Avlonitis et al. 2001; Berry et al. 2006; Paswan et al. 2009), in this study, because we are concerned with the greatest and the least degree of service innovation, service innovation is differentiated into incremental and radical innovation. Such a differentiation has been frequently used in similar innovation research (Olsen and Sallis 2006; Min et al. 2006; Song and Thieme 2009). He goes to a Rebbe to ask for advice as to what to do to get rid of his sexual urges since his wife refuses to lay with him, in the beginning it seems that she is unhappy, even unhappy being his wife saying I might also have been put on this earth as a bar of soap or a kugel. Better, better it should have been one if those (). Dov on the other hand is absolutely in love with her and wants her to want him, but she is unresponsive to his attempts. He does not want to divorce her, he loves her, and the Rebbe explains that Dov s wife, Chava is testing him and she d be responsive if he ignore her in the meanwhile the Rebbe suggest a prostitute, more like prescribes Dov sleep with a prostitute to get rid of and find relief for his unbearable urges . • 43. Avengers Age Of Ultron Essay Avengers Age Of Ultron was certainly one of the most hyped films of 2015. Considering how good The Avengers was, I couldn t help but expect a film of the same calibre. Unfortunately, I can t say it is. I m sure it s not a bad film, in fact I came out of the cinema thinking it was a successor to the first, but all the action scenes were steering me away from some weak points in the film, Josh Whedon s lack of story and interesting direction disappointed me the most. The film follows the aftermath from Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, The Avengers and Captain America: The winter solider. Age of Ultron opens with the heroes all together trying to capture hydra informants that have attained technology from beyond this world. This calls for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like in The Avengers the one liners are back and they offer quite a few laughs. The strongest actors in my opinion were Chris Evens (Captain America) Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) because these were the best at being humorous while still kicking CGI butt. The noob Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson) who played Kick ass (in Kick ass ) was a surprise for me, he acted on par but I kept seeing his character from his other movies, the accent he put on was a tiny bit cringe in some parts but he did good for his first full marvel movie. His sister in the film Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) played a solid part which was full of emotion. I can t leave out the big guy Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) who played a decent part, especially when on screen with The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) who goes through some past memories that bring out her emotions. I was also very impressed with Hawkeye (Clint Barton) as he is just a guy with a bow, and this helps bring out the humanity in the team. He performed very well and had more screen time than I thought he would get, but that is not a bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Saudi Arabia- Medical Equipment Case Questions Medical Equipment Inc. In Saudi Arabia Case Questions 1. What options does Grover have? You should have at least three. Review the pros and cons of each. In order to keep his actions ethical and integral, Grover has several options to explore. Firstly, he could confront Najjar about the speculation of a bribe winning him the sale of equipment for Wilson s. He could gently remind his competitor of ethical standards that are expected to be upheld in such business transactions. In this situation he would have to be considerate of the great differences between cultural, religious (and of course), business environment and norms. This may give Grover some peace of mind ( you can t do that because it s not fair ), however it is very unlikely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This fourth option would mean Grover most likely leaving his career with Medical Equipment and having to start anew elsewhere, where he feels comfortable with the tasks assigned to him. 2. What would you do if you were Grover, and why? Provide a solid rationale. If I were Grover I would choose the third option. I would offer Humaidi a complementary trip to the U.S. or France (his choice) to view one of Medical Equipment s showrooms. In my opinion, offering this trip does not lack justifiable grounds as stated in the company s Entertainment and Gifts policy. Humaidi may decline the trip, or even take the trip but not follow through with the sale; however Grover would have no doubt that he had taken every social, professional, legal and ethical measure possible to try and secure the sale. As a side note, one might consider the Hofstede dimensions for Saudi Arabia versus the United States. Saudi Arabia has a very high Uncertainty Avoidance compared to the United States. It may be possible that Humaidi wishes to remain loyal to Wilson s because he has tried and tested business with them already although Medical Equipment s offer seems to be more beneficial to the company, he may not be taking it for fear of making a mistake and choosing a bad company to trust.
