Managing Induction Process for Health and Social Care or...
Unit 523 Managing induction process for health and social care or children and young people s
settings. 01.1 purpose of induction
Induction is the first piece of learning a worker undertakes when joining the social care sector or a
new organisation. These Common Induction Standards (CIS) have been designed to provide a
structured start for workers in the first 12 weeks of employment, which will help ensure that they are
then safe to leave alone with responsibility for the people they support. But when workers are
expected to perform any tasks that are not covered by the CIS, appropriate training must be provided
before the work is undertaken. There are eight standards that the induction should cover these are.

* Self evaluation: ask the person to describe how they think they are progressing. * Observation:
direct observation of how the person is performing in their role. * Feedback: from people who use the
service and their close networks as well as colleagues. * Reflection: ask the person to reflect on an
aspect of their work, usually a specific incident, and explain what they learned from it. * Questions: to
test the person understanding of a topic in more depth. * Evidence: of accredited training in a
particular area.
01.3 The successfully completed induction demonstrates that a worker has the basic Information
necessary for work in social care. However it should also enable the person to identify other areas in
which they may need further training to develop their skills for further progression. The induction
process for a new worker may reveal that the worker needs additional help in order to meet the
functional levels of language, literacy and numeracy which the manager considers necessary for them
to do their job properly. This area of work is crucial to increasing the skills of the social care
workforce and ensuring the well being of the people being supported. The successfully completed
induction demonstrates that a worker has the basic information necessary for work in social care.

Athletic Trainer Essay
I had a hard time finding a career. All the careers I came across did not interest me at all. Until a friend
came up with the idea of the career of athletic training. That is when I started my research and my
interest grew greater. Athletic trainers help prevent and treat injuries for people of all ages. Athletic
trainers try to prevent injuries by educating people on how to reduce their risk on getting injured.
Another way Athletic trainers use to prevent injuries is by advising people on the proper use of
equipment. The amount of money you make depends on many occasions. Your salary depends on your
employment settings, level of education, and experience. The average salary ranged from $28,495 to

Working in hospitals and clinics, Athletic trainers spend most of their time doing outreach services,
like speaking at high schools.
The minimum requirement is a bachelor s degree, but most athletic trainers have a doctoral or master s
degree (Bureau of Labor Statistics pg 2). The basic classes you need to take are science and health
related courses, like nutrition, physiology, human anatomy, and biomechanics (Bureau of Labor
Statistics pg 2). A teaching certificate is needed if working in a high school. Athletic trainers have to
have good communication and social skills, as well as being organized, inquisitive, and have a desire
to help people. There are a couple of methods Athletic trainers use to advance in their position. Some
switch teams and sports to receive more responsibility or gain a higher salary. Some sell or go into the
marketing business, using their experience to distribute medical and athletic equipment. Athletic
trainers had about 16,300 jobs in the year 2008. 39 percent were in public and private school,
universities, and colleges. 38 percent work in health care like hospitals, and physician offices. 13
percent worked in fitness and sport centers like gyms and YMCA clubs. 5 percent of Athletic trainers
work in spectator sports (Bureau of Labor Statistics pg 3). Employment is said to expand 37 percent
from 2008 to 2018. Job

The Media And The Role Of Media In The Media
Media is one of the most powerful institutions that play a role in how we view the world that we live
in. Often media may stereotype a certain group of people, which impacts how others view one other.
When the media does this, it further supports the division in society. While most media does this, Grey
s Anatomy is one that does the opposite. Through its portrayal of powerful people who would
typically be oppressed in society, Grey s Anatomy goes against refutes the social norms that we re
accustomed to. The creator of the television show is Shonda Rhimes. She is the only African
American women to have created more than one hit drama. The show is a medical drama and follows
the lives of surgeons that work within the hospital. In the 14 season the show has aired it touches upon
issues of gender, race, and sexuality through the lives of different characters. Season 12 episode 1

Pros And Cons Of Minimum Wage
COMPENSATION PACKAGES
Minimum Wage A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their
workers. Equivalently, it is the price floor below which workers may not sell their labor. Although
minimum wage laws are in effect in many jurisdictions, differences of opinion exist about the benefits
and drawbacks of a minimum wage. Supporters of the minimum wage say it increases the standard of
living of workers, reduces poverty, reduces inequality, and boosts morale. In contrast, opponents of the
minimum wage say it increases poverty, increases unemployment particularly among unskilled or
inexperienced workers and is damaging to businesses, because excessively high minimum wages
require businesses to raise the prices of their product or service to accommodate the extra expense of
paying a higher wage. In the US, wages for almost all workers are set either by market forces or by
collective bargaining. The body referred to as Fair Labor Standards Act determines the minimum
wage that is abided by all states. As per the 2015 data, the minimum wage per hour is 7.25 USD.
However, this is not the case with the fourteen states and some cities with their own minimum wage at
federal level. For instance, in Florida the minimum wage per hour is 8.10 USD and in California its
10.50 USD per hour. In Greenland the minimum wage for both private and public sector is 20 USD
per hour, not official. The pay rates are set through collective bargain agreements regardless

Maurice Druon s The Accursed Kings
Maurice Druon s The Accursed Kings is a very important 20th century historical novel. It is about
14th century Europe, centered in France. In these years, Philip the Fair is the ruler of the French
kingdom, and his daughter, England s Queen Isabella, King Edward II s wife. It also talks about the
Knights Templar and their relationship to the crown; how they cursed Philip IV and his descendants
because the french kingdom condemned him and his knights to prison and death. In this analysis there
will be a summary of the book, The Accursed Kings , and then an evaluation on if this piece of
literature is accurate when representing the Middle Ages. Lastly, there will be a brief conclusion on
the subject. As said before, Maurice Druon s novel is mainly about the curse that the Knights Templar
threw to the royal family on 1314 when King Philip IV, Pope Clement, and Guillaume de Nogaret start
to chase, torture and kill the all the Knights due to a debt that the french crown had with the Templar
order. This curse is thrown by Jacques de Molay while he is put in a bonfire as a punishment for
disloyalty to the crown and satanic acts. After this, the royal family starts to have many problems;

Enrique s Journey Rhetorical Analysis
8. Explain the difference between ethos, pathos and logos and why they are each effective rhetorical
strategies. Provide a real world example of each and how those examples are successful at persuading
their intended audience.
Ethos, pathos and logos are all rhetorical strategies that are used and studies today by many writers
and students all across the world. They are there to persuade and appeal to the readers thinking. Ethos
is the ethics used by the writer which is most often appeal to the reader through credibility. Pathos is
emotion, so it is the appeal to the reader through emotion in the writing. Lastly, logos which is most
often known as logic, therefore, it is the appeal to the reader through the use of logic throughout the

I believe that it s safe to say I enjoyed the read and would recommend it to other readers around the
school. However, constantly it went against my thinking and made me angry quite often. What made
me so angry and upset was how often it skipped over things such as the law and tried to hide and
cover the fact that what Enrique and his mother were doing throughout the whole story was illegal.
The author constantly tried to hide the fact of the truth and try to make people forget about the bad
side of what they were doing, even though they had good intentions, it still is hiding the truth in a
sense when as a journalist you should say only the truth and the whole story. Not try to hide things
from the reader to essentially manipulate them. Another example of this hiding is when she constantly
used the word migrants instead of immigrants when people had directly left one country into another
meaning immigrants not migrants, essentially again I think she did this because the word immigrants
looks bad because often times immigrants have tainted the word by their actions. Because of all these
things, I think it was way to much of a political agenda to appeal more to illegal immigrants. The story
did spark some emotion in me as what happens to Enrique on his journey is truly sad and makes you
feel sympathetic for him. He has to go through lots of beatings and constantly being taken advantage
of throughout his whole journey. What made me feel hopeful or Enrique is that he was able to
eventually see his mother, and that hopefully more kids can be reunited with their mothers or families,
I d prefer though that it was legally but I am happy for Enrique that he was able to see his mother. I
don t think that Enrique s Journey shouldn t be a necessary read as I think it tells a good story yet has
no thing that really is learned from it, as lots of times what it is sharing goes

Yad Vashem s Analysis
However, since McDoom s theory is based on Rwanda, it is not comprehensive in explaining
individual examples of defiance, which the majority of rescue acts were. Because intention and
motivation are notably impossible to determine, scholars have debated over the impetus for rescue;
established relationships, religion or the humanistic belief we are all human beings. Pre existing
relationships were commonplace and are excluded from Yad Vashem s Righteousness criteria. Kristen
Monroe tells the story of Irene, a Polish nurse compelled to hide Jews as she had close childhood
friendships with many Jewish girls, and had witnessed suffering in the ghettos. Irene instead likened
the Germans, not the Jews, to cockroaches. In contrast, Joanna Michlic has emphasised the
humanitarian desire to save innocent life. This has been backed up by Jacques Semelin, who cites a
banality of good in contrast to Hannah Arendt s often quoted banality of evil suggesting that some
people consider themselves connected to all human beings through the bonds of common humanity.
The belief in charity, hospitality and the sanctity of life taught in the Polish Catholic Church has also
been cited as a key factor in the rescue of the Jews. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

all did, and so there must be something that separates rescuers and

Why Did American Enter Ww2
Britain had been the most powerful empire up until this point in history, but hemorrhaged much of its
wealth through the extreme cost of World War I. Initially the United States was left out of Europe s
conflict. Materials began running low for the combatants, as it requires much in the way of food and
steel among other things. The US started off contributing materially to the British, not out of
favoritism, but due to the British blockade they were unable to reach Germany with supplies. When
Germany found out negotiations were set up with the United States. It is often debated President
Truman s true intentions for entering the War but during negotiations he had many stipulations for the
peace treaties with the Germans. One being Germany was not allowed to fire upon any ship American
citizens were aboard. This was not only specific to civilian transports but also ships carrying weapons.

First Army commander, General John J. Pershing found himself up against insurmountable odds. The
Germans has dug in quite comfortably to a heavily wooded area immediately northwest of the town of

strong artillery presence from his side. Around the Battle of Verdun, German and British artillery had
made leaps and bounds in terms of progression, and the Americans were watching incorporating these
lessons for the upcoming offensive. No longer primarily a direct fire weapon, artillerymen were
utilizing indirect assets. Now troops hiding on the other side of a hill had fires to worry about. Also up
to this point trench warfare had been a primary means of fighting on most battle fields. This indirect
fire concept was also utilized by machine gunners; soldiers pointing their weapons in the air to drop
rounds and suppress an area. As you will read, the Americans even used some French pieces in their

Medical Record Company Network Security Plan
Medical Record Company Network Security Plan
For the purpose of securing and implementing a data security plan for a medical record company a lot
of prep and thought needs to take place. While developing the plan I considered that it s not just our
company s data at risk, but also the data of any of our employees and patients, including social
security numbers and medical records. I also considered different kinds of security threats, security
threats are always evolving so we need to keep on top of new threats and keep changing to have the
best protection for our company.
Threats
There are several different kinds of threats that we should consider and do our best to avoid. A few
examples that are on the rise are:
Targeted threats, are attacks that focus on confidential information from a single company or
individual are becoming more common. These attacks are being delivered through sophisticated ways
such as email attachments, video files, or hyperlinks, and more. Once made active the malware can
install itself without any help from the user.
Malicious bots are software applications that run automated tasks. These bots are also increasing;
when they are used they create automated attacks on networks.
Rootkits are able to burrow deeply into a computers operating system. They can alter the OS and
allow them maintain access to a computer system. They can go by easily undetected and can be
challenging to remove. The purpose of rootkits is to allow hackers to

The Canterbury Cathedral Essay
The Canterbury Cathedral
For at least fourteen hundred years the worship of God has been offered on the site of this Cathedral,
and through the prayers of the Church his power and grace have shaped human lives. Ever since the
murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket in the Cathedral in 1170, Canterbury has attracted thousands of
pilgrims. This tradition continues to this day, and a large team of Welcomers, Guides, Cathedral
Assistants and Chaplains are there to give all visitors a warm welcome.

The next year a new Foundation, called the Dean and Chapter, was constituted by Royal Charter.
Today there is a Dean and four Residentiary Canons in the Chapter, who, with the Precentor, make up

Canterbury Cathedral is linked to the lives of many great ecclesiastical and national figures. Among
the former are the Saints of Canterbury Augustine, Theodore, Odo, Dunstan, Alphege, Anselm,
Thomas and Edmund all of whom were Archbishops of Canterbury and held in universal respect.
The one who became most famous of all was Thomas Becket, who was murdered in his cathedral on
29 December 1170. Appointed by his King and friend, Henry II, to bring the Church to the heel of the
monarchy, he did the reverse. He espoused its rights in the face of the King s desire to control them.
Four knights, with their own agendas of complaint, thinking to ingratiate themselves with the King,
came to Canterbury and killed the Archbishop in his own Cathedral.
In the Reformation period Canterbury had a series of distinguished Archbishops, among them Thomas
Cranmer, who compiled the first two Prayer Books and established what was to become the liturgical
tradition of the Church of England and Anglican Churches the world over.

Management Style Essay
Introduction
Today s paper is about management styles. I will discuss things; such as what management is and
what are the good and poor qualities of managers. In addition; do these conditions change based on
the social environment, work environment or home environment? Last, I will discuss the results of my
management quiz. This part of the discussion will focus on whether or not I agree or disagree with
those results.
What do you define as management?
Management equals having the ability to lead, plan, organize, control, make decisions, and direct

Do the qualities change based on different situations? It is my belief that these qualities do not change.
Leadership roles are all around us, not just in a work environment (SkillsYouNeed, 2015). They can be
applied to any situation where you are required to take the lead, professionally, socially and at home in
family settings (SkillsYouNeed, 2015). I do not feel that you can just dismiss these qualities whenever
you wish. However, I feel that you need to be able to adapt to whatever environment you find
yourself.
Do you agree with the results of your management quiz? I agree with the outcome of the exam. Taking
the test was an excellent experiment! It allowed me to see whether or not I would make a good
manager. According to the results, a managerial position would be in line with my personality. The test
result indicated that I had the ability to manage and govern myself. It lets me know; I have the
capacity to control and supervise others. As stated before if one can not govern one s self, it makes no
sense attempting to direct others. According to the exam; when it comes to managing my team s work
it states It sounds like you are getting your staff on the same page about goals and plans to achieve
them, delegating well, and ensuring results match what you are looking for (Management Center,
2015).

In A Heartbeat Chapter Summary
In a Heartbeat Book Report
In the book In a Heartbeat, Amelia and Eagan are the protagonist of the book. Amelia is a young girl
who has a very serious heart sickness. On the other hand, Eagan is slightly older and has everything
she could dream of, skating, popularity, a boyfriend, money, and most of all a caring family. Amelia is
a very sweet girl, who wishes to have a normal life. Amelia has a heart disease and can not do
anything a normal person can do such as play sports, walk, eat, and ect. Amelia has brown hair, but
wants blonde hair like her mom and family, she also has blue eyes, she is short, and is fourteen. Eagan
is a girl who has been in skating since she has been 3 years old. She has a complicated relationship
with her mother, they have many fights but then at the end they love each other. Eagan is sixteen years
old and has a boyfriend. They are both caring people who are outgoing and very confident in
themselves.
In the book, Eagan lives in the United States just like Amelia. The time is set on modern days, only
that Eagan s family likes the old times. In the book, Amelia and her friend travel to a different state to

One way it can be better is by making the two girls know each other when they were little. That would

way it would be even more better would be by having Eagan die some other way. This would be better
because it s really sad in the original book how she dies by doing her favorite activity in the world.
Lastly the book could have been even more wonderful if Amelia wouldn t have gone to meet Eagan s
parents. This would have made the book extra special because then Amelia would still feel like a
mystery since there s a part of her that still needs something. I think that these are a few reasons that

The Overwhelming Infection of Septic Shock
Kleinpell states, Septic shock is the result of an overwhelming infection, leading to hypotension,
altered coagulation, inflammation, impaired circulation at a cellular level, anaerobic metabolism,
changes in mental status and multiple organ failure (as sited in Garretson Malberti, Ignatavicius and
Workman (2009), sepsis is a widespread infection coupled with a more general criteria: body
temperature higher than 380C or lower than 360C, heart rate greater than 90 beats per minute,
respiratory rate greater than 20 breaths per minutes, and WBC count greater than 12,000/mm or lower
than 4,000/mm or with more than 10% bands (Spaniol, Knight, Zebley, Anderson, Pierce, 2007).
Endotoxins from gram negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, can precipitate the common
progression of events leading to septic shock. A patient experiencing SIRS is at risk for organ failure
(severe sepsis), multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, and death. This paper will outline the details
surrounding this condition, from a nursing standpoint. Early sepsis is defined as a suspected or proven
infection and the systemic response to infection (Porth Matfin, 2009). During early sepsis, a
hypodynamic state of vasodilation, increased release of pro inflammatory cytokines, pooling of blood,
cellular hypoxia, and vascular damage cause microthrombi. This sequence of events can lead to
Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) and potential death if undetected and untreated.

In 1936, the summer Olympics were hosted in Berlin. Hitler was the chancellor of Germany at the
time, and the Nazis were in power. Before the Olympics, German Jews had been segregated and
discriminated against by Aryan Germans. The 1936 Berlin Olympics were not righteous, fair, or
unbiased in any way, shape, or form. Through the Olympics, Hitler spread his anti Semitic views to

State Intervention and the Economy Essay
It is widely believed by scholars that many of the varying levels of economic development between
states are the direct result of a negative correlation between the aforementioned and the varying
degrees of state intervention. In most cases it is evident that the more a state intervenes in its economy,
the less the country will develop. While, at the same time, a country whose intervention exists at a
minimal level will tend to have a stronger economy and a more rapid rate of development. However, it
is also important to understand that as with many concepts there will always be extreme cases where
the states may not strictly follow this model; in some cases they may even behave completely
opposite. These extreme cases are often due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, an advocate for government failure would argue that were this to occur the market would be
worse off due to the fact that bureaucrats often pursue their best interests which may not necessarily
coincide with those of the public. In support of this belief it can be argued that since bureaucratic
agents are not elected officials they are able to implement various policies without fear of any negative
consequences such as not winning a reelection. As can be inferred from the concepts of market and
government failure; government intervention is not necessarily always a bad thing. In fact, sometimes
it can lead to the advancement of a nation. Governments whose bureaucracies act in such a way can
also be referenced as developmental states ; which means that although the government is interfering
with the economy, the bureaucracy is focusing on the long term interest of the country versus the
personal gain of a select few in the short term. Amsden writes about this concept in his article, Getting
Relative Prices Wrong : A Summary, by bringing up the idea that, ...it promises industrial expansion if
the state is strong enough merely to provide enough political stability for a long term investments, to
point prices in the right direction, and then to exit (Amsden 147). Amsden argues that governments

2.2 The role of the Government and Open Door Policy
Deng Xiaoping set in prepare the change of China s economy when he declared a new Open Door
Policy in December 1978. Mr. Deng understood that China required Western technology, innovation
and investment, therefore he opened the path for outside organisations who needed to set up in China
(News.bbc.co.uk, n.d.). At first, four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were farmed in South China
with tax incentives to draw in outside speculation into the nation.
As the nation is a developing economy, the government has to play a critical role to guide and control
the nation (Nove and Gerschenkron, 1963). For instance, the part of government in enhancing general
financial and social welfare ought not be expelled or belittled, even in developed, mature economies
(Reich, 1989). Developing markets are countries that are investing in more productive capacity. They
are moving far from their conventional economies that have depended on agribusiness and the export
of raw materials. Leaders of developing countries want to create a better quality of life for the citizens.
Subsequently, they are rapidly industrialising and embracing a free market or mixed economy

Examples Of Gender Inequality In Cry The Beloved Country
During the 1950 s, oppression of black south africans was a prominent issue ongoing in South Africa.
Alan Paton, writer of Cry, The Beloved Country, illustrates the loss of humanity because of apartheid
throughout the novel. However, one topic left unaddressed in Cry, The Beloved Country is the
underlying issue of gender inequality in apartheid South Africa. Women s inferiority to men is
illustrated through the service oriented roles that characters such as Ms. Lithebe and Mrs. Kumalo
portray throughout the novel, as opposed to the authoritative positions that most men in the novel
hold. Women like Absalom s wife (the pregnant girl) and Gertrude also fall to the superiority of men
but on a different level, forced into sexualized roles for survival after their husbands/boyfriends leave
them. Portrayed through the morally depraved gender stereotypes, the voiceless and nameless women
of South Africa, and the homebound women of Johannesburg, Alan Paton s lack of development of
women s roles in society mirrors the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is epitomized through Gertrude s way of living and the aspersion she receives in contrast to John
Kumalo s equivalent choices left undiscussed. Furthermore, Absalom s girlfriend, a pregnant
abandoned girl, epitomizes the voiceless women of South Africa when she has no hopes for herself,
only serving others. Ultimately, it was South Africa s many homebound women that embodied women
s oppression, their presence being limited to the confines of their own homes. All this evidence goes to
further prove the lack of female prevalence in a South African Society. On the whole, it is crucial to
look deeper into the deep rooted issues of Cry, the Beloved Country, and to wonder what other
underlying issues were neglected throughout the

The Importance Of Civil Liberties
I believe that the abuse of power by the state is a greater threat to the American people today, than
terrorist actions by a small number of people, which is why I chose a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.
All of us in this country give lip service to the ideals set forth in the Bill of Rights and emphasized by
every additional amendment, and yet when war is stirring in the world, many of us are ready to curtail
our civil liberties. We do not stop to think that curtailing these liberties may in the end bring us greater
danger than the danger we are trying to avert. Eleanor Roosevelt I believe that by giving up our civil
liberties we are allowing our government to invade our privacy, judge us for our religious beliefs and
tell us what we are

My Love In Literature
Since I was a young girl, I have been in love with literature and not just reading novels, but examining
them, making connections, and placing them in a larger historical and social context. I can easily
become absorbed in writing an analysis, and English is something I have always enjoyed and excelled
at as a critical thinker. This love for language and culture has come to extend beyond English and into
Spanish as well. Over the course of my Spanish studies, I have been able to transcend the narrow
scope of my upbringing, gain insight into beautiful worlds bursting with vibrancy, and read poetry and
novels from across the continent without the artistry getting lost in translation. Spanish has also
allowed me to diversify my modes of communication and bridge cultural divides, which will be vital
for a future in law. Furthermore, I found an ardor for global environmental issues after connecting
with a phenomenal educator in high school and rediscovering my childhood love for animals. Though
I enjoy exploring languages, environmental sustainability is where my true passions lie, and where I
feel I can make a difference in the lives of others. I m particularly interested in environmental justice
and Native American rights. I not only want to ameliorate the degradation of the natural world, but
also provide representation for individuals whose environmental strife has been disregarded. My
greatest strengths are the determination and dedication I apply to every task I undertake.

Assistive Technology Solutions For Students With Learning...
Assistive Technology Solutions
Technological advances have increased access to the curriculum for students with learning disabilities.
Assistive technology are the devices and services used to maintain or improve the capabilities of a
student with a disability (Dell, Newton, Petroff, 2011). Through these technologies, students with
learning disabilities are able to complete tasks in the classroom that they were otherwise, unable to
achieve. Prior to the availability of assistive technology, a student who was unable to use their hands
or arms, would not have been able to write or type on a computer in the classroom. Additionally,
students unable to read because of visual disabilities, or reading disabilities such as dyslexia, had a
difficult time accessing information in the traditional classroom setting.
Assistive Technology Software
There are a variety of computer software programs and hardware designs available to use for students
with disabilities. These assistive technology designs help the student to access information they were
unable to do before. Text to speech software, such as Kurzweil 3000, reads the material aloud to the
student. Documents can be scanned into the program allowing the student to have the computer read
them the text. The student is able to complete the work independently; affording them access to the
curriculum and a new independence. Another example of assistive technology is speech to text.

Crime Victimization Essay
This is an important phenomenon to discuss because this is how the seed of the cultivation of fear is
planted. When people watch the news and see that every story or top headline is related to violence in
their city, it can be hard to convince people that the world may not be as violent as what it being
reported. It can be especially difficult to convince people that the world is not as violent as they
believe because the news is considered a reputable source of information.
News media viewing is assumed to produce many more example of crime victimization than thru
involvement. Gerbner and colleagues suggest that frequent viewing of television s representations of

Mainstreaming takes into account the types of life experiences that people encounter will determine
how much influence the news has on their perceptions. If a person has never experienced some aspects

According to this aspect of the cultivation theory and the cultivation of fear, people who have not had
personal experiences with certain aspects of life, will be most influenced by the messages that are
being disseminated on the news. This makes sense because those people have no information to refute
or accept what is being reported to them.
Naturally, the news is expected to provide a true account of the happenings in the world.
Mainstreaming is the process in which people begin to accept the information and messages that is

The Arch of Titus Propaganda
In ancient Rome, much pride was taken in the way that Rome was presented to other nations. Rome
was seen as a powerful nation, protected and favored by the gods, ruled over by wise and divine

Mahatma Gandhi Impact
Mahatma Gandhi was truly one of history s greatest heroes. He sacrificed his entire life to help those
in need. Through his love, perseverance, and endurance, Gandhi changed the world. Mahatma Gandhi,
born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born in Porbandar, India, on October 2, 1896. He had two
older brothers named Laxmidas and Karsandas and an older sister named Raliabehn. He also had two
half sisters born from his father s previous marriage. Out of all of his siblings, Gandhi was the
youngest (Rau 4). Gandhi s father, Karamchand, was the diwan, or prime minister, of Porbandar.
Because of this, Gandhi and his family lived a comfortable life in a three story house along with
numerous servants. On the other hand, Gandhi s mother, Putlibai, had deep Hindu traditions. She was
extremely religious. She could often be found praying, fasting, and worshipping in the temple to honor
God. Putlibai s devotion to the Lord left a huge impression on Gandhi as a young boy (Rau 6 7).
When Gandhi was seven years old, he and his family moved to an inland city called Rajkot. This is
where Gandhi started school. Although he adored school, he was incredibly, painfully shy. Gandhi
once stated that his books and his lessons were his only companions. As soon as he was done with
school, he would sprint as fast as he could home to avoid any social interactions with his classmates.

What Role Did Socrates Play in Ancient Greece?
In the leading city of Athens 2,500 years ago during the Golden Age, a peculiar philosopher was born
into the reign of Pericles. Socrates went against common religion, influenced social roles and people,
and was the founder of the Socratic Method. Religious opinions affected Socrates life a great deal.

They were very popular but loathed at the same time because of the financial problems they were
causing. For example, the most famous sophist was called Corax. He had a student called Tisias who
refused to pay the fee for his classes, he said Before I started, you promised you would teach me to
persuade anyone to do whatever I wanted. Let me now persuade you not to ask for your fee. If you
still demand it, you did not do what you promised, therefore I owe you nothing. However, Socrates
discredited this, However, not one of these things is true; nor, if you have heard from anyone that I
attempt to teach men and require payment, is this true. (Plato, n.d.). Socrates irritated people by
insisting things that could not be true. Critobulus, who was considered by many to be the most
handsome man in Athens. However, Socrates, with his protruding eyes and large nose insisted he was
more stunning than Critobulus. Socrates defended this by saying things such as Because while yours
see straight ahead, mine, by bulging out as they do, see also to the sides, and Mine, I consider,
granting that Providence made us noses to smell with. For your nostrils look down toward the ground,
but mine are wide open and turned outward so that I can catch scents from all around. (Zannos, 2004).
Another story of Socrates impacting the life of an individual is shown by the dialogue that he had with
a young man he met at a wrestling school named Lysis. Socrates admitted to

The Growth Of China
Over the past couple decades, China s economy has been shifting from an economy that relies on
exports and low cost production to a consumer economy that has much more open markets than it
used to. As a result, they are poised to regain their status as the largest economy in the world in terms
of purchasing power. China used to make and produce products at a low price, now they want to build
the machines that make these products instead. Looking forward, there will be four main trends that
will drive the growth of China s economy even if growth is very marginal. These trends are; the shift
in investment, the shift in capital flows, the shift in consumer leverage, and the shift in
shopping(ecommerce).
The first trend is China s shift in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, China has a large excess of capital. The international reserves of China are currently above $3
trillion. Because of the fact that China s financial system is very small and undeveloped for the
immensity of the nation, China needs to have a greater amount of capital outflows.. For example, in
the United States alone, Chinese consumers spent $12 billion on U.S, real estate in only the past year.
This trend means that U.S and other foreign real estate will continue to be bought Chinese investors
both for residential usage and for hard assets like farmland or similar physical capital.
The third trend is the positive shift in consumer leverage. In a new modern world where products like
cars are being bought through obtaining loans instead of cash, China is lacking behind but is slowly
catching up. In fact, it is still the norm in China to purchase a car using cash. The common Chinese
person will simply have more abundant ways of obtaining credit than they ever did in the past. For
example, in the last year, the amount of new car loans increased by 10% which increased the overall
amount of sales in China. With a large market to choose from in industries like the car industry,
investors will want to put their money into the ones that will be buyers while the smaller industries
will become weaker and lose the little market share that they had before.
The last trend is the shift in

Analysis Of Phil Collins Land Of Confusion
In 1986, a British rock band named Genesis released a song called Land of Confusion. It makes the
listener imagine, and take another look at the world and how it is being run. Despite having a high
tempo and a loud melody, it s not a song someone can generally dance to. The song s pop rock style
gives an upbeat variety of rock music. Pop rock in nature uses only electrical instruments, which gives
the song a synthetic sound. Phil Collins voice has a metallic sound which suppresses his British
accent. The band usually about romance or a personal experience of someone, but this is a rare
political song that questions the wisdom of world leaders at the time. Phil Collins, lead singer and
drummer, called it, A political song about the mess we have landed in. It also had a very popular music
video that won the 1987 Grammy for Best Concept Music Video. When the song first starts, it sets the
tone for the rest of the song. It starts out with first, the drums, electric guitar, and electric keyboard
having a very fast and loud melody. This makes the listener think that something is about to happen,
which allows the band to convey the message of the song. The first lyrics of the song are, I must ve
dreamed a thousand dreams/Been haunted by a million screams/I can hear the marching feet/They re
moving into the street./Now did you read the news today/They say the danger s gone away/ But I can

Essay On Earthquakes And Earthquakes
Where are earthquakes and volcanoes found? Volcanoes and earthquakes have been known to man for
thousands of years, but until fairly recently their distribution on the globe was thought of as totally
haphazard with each event an isolated phenomenon. Yet, if the positioning of the world s volcanoes is
considered, it can be seen that most volcanoes are situated within several hundred kilometres of the
sea, and moreover, that the regions of volcanic activity are concentrated into several girdles or bands
circling the Earth. Most notable amongst these are the so called Ring of Fire surrounding the Pacific
Ocean (see figure 1), and the more tenuous and disjointed line running down the centre of the Atlantic
Ocean. Throughout geological history, igneous activity has been restricted in the same way, as studies
of ancient igneous rocks show. Similarly, earthquakes do not occur randomly over the whole surface
of the Earth. Their epicentres also fall into welldefined bands girdling the planet, and in fact, seismic
and volcanic activity are well correlated so that bands of concentration for each coincide (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Map of the world showing the location of tectonic plate boundaries, volcanoes, hot spots,
and earthquake zones. Note how the majority of seismic and volcanic events are concentrated on plate
boundaries. Tectonic plates and their boundaries These concentrations of geological activity actually

Gothic Fiction And Traditional Fairytales
Gothic fiction is a product of human curiosity, fascination and fear. This genre of literature represents
human fears in a more symbolic and allegorical way, allowing readers to address their phobias in a
safe frame. Gothic fiction is mistakenly associated with adult fiction due to the common belief that the
gruesome events described in this mode of literature are inappropriate for children. Nevertheless, kids
are the ones who have the biggest questions and fears. Gothic fiction, with its grotesque creatures and
spooky places, turns kid fears into fictional characters that are defeated by the forces of good. This

Of course, these elements do not appear as sinister as in adult Gothic fiction, but the basis is the same.
A proof for their presence is Karen Coats observation. As Coats puts it, traditional Gothic stories for
adults provide fairytale themes and motifs with an evil tone (78). If there were not any similarities
between these two genres of literature, traditional adult Gothic would not use fairytales as a basis.
Furthermore, considering that Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood is a splendid example of
traditional fairytales, it is worth observing if Gothic elements can be traced in it. Little Red Riding
Hood includes characteristics that resemble Gothic fiction s characteristics as presented by David
Punter; an emphasis on portraying the terrifying, a common insistence on archaic settings, a prominent
use of the supernatural... (cited in Roberts 21). Firstly, the setting is terrifying; a young girl alone in
the woods. Secondly, the use of supernatural is profound; the wolf can speak and think like humans.
According to Coats, this kind of elements in classic fairytales, like creepy settings, forbidden wishes
and evil villains, are associated with children s dangerous impulses and aggressions (78). The role of
fairytales is to deal with these unwanted urges

Narrative Essay About Baseball
Lights blaring into my eyes, the crack of the bat, the shouting of the overly devoted parents, the salty

Sometimes things that have occurred in my life, and stuff I have received, that I may not have

theory is a collection of related statements; the principal function of which is to summarize and

that provides a coherent framework for understanding how and why people change as they grow older.

  • 5. Pros And Cons Of Minimum Wage COMPENSATION PACKAGES Minimum Wage A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their workers. Equivalently, it is the price floor below which workers may not sell their labor. Although minimum wage laws are in effect in many jurisdictions, differences of opinion exist about the benefits and drawbacks of a minimum wage. Supporters of the minimum wage say it increases the standard of living of workers, reduces poverty, reduces inequality, and boosts morale. In contrast, opponents of the minimum wage say it increases poverty, increases unemployment particularly among unskilled or inexperienced workers and is damaging to businesses, because excessively high minimum wages require businesses to raise the prices of their product or service to accommodate the extra expense of paying a higher wage. In the US, wages for almost all workers are set either by market forces or by collective bargaining. The body referred to as Fair Labor Standards Act determines the minimum wage that is abided by all states. As per the 2015 data, the minimum wage per hour is 7.25 USD. • 6. Maurice Druon s The Accursed Kings Maurice Druon s The Accursed Kings is a very important 20th century historical novel. It is about 14th century Europe, centered in France. In these years, Philip the Fair is the ruler of the French kingdom, and his daughter, England s Queen Isabella, King Edward II s wife. It also talks about the Knights Templar and their relationship to the crown; how they cursed Philip IV and his descendants because the french kingdom condemned him and his knights to prison and death. In this analysis there will be a summary of the book, The Accursed Kings , and then an evaluation on if this piece of literature is accurate when representing the Middle Ages. Lastly, there will be a brief conclusion on the subject. As said before, Maurice Druon s novel is mainly about the curse that the Knights Templar threw to the royal family on 1314 when King Philip IV, Pope Clement, and Guillaume de Nogaret start to chase, torture and kill the all the Knights due to a debt that the french crown had with the Templar order. This curse is thrown by Jacques de Molay while he is put in a bonfire as a punishment for disloyalty to the crown and satanic acts. What made me so angry and upset was how often it skipped over things such as the law and tried to hide and cover the fact that what Enrique and his mother were doing throughout the whole story was illegal. The author constantly tried to hide the fact of the truth and try to make people forget about the bad side of what they were doing, even though they had good intentions, it still is hiding the truth in a sense when as a journalist you should say only the truth and the whole story. Not try to hide things from the reader to essentially manipulate them. Another example of this hiding is when she constantly used the word migrants instead of immigrants when people had directly left one country into another meaning immigrants not migrants, essentially again I think she did this because the word immigrants looks bad because often times immigrants have tainted the word by their actions. Because of all these things, I think it was way to much of a political agenda to appeal more to illegal immigrants. The story did spark some emotion in me as what happens to Enrique on his journey is truly sad and makes you feel sympathetic for him. He has to go through lots of beatings and constantly being taken advantage of throughout his whole journey. What made me feel hopeful or Enrique is that he was able to eventually see his mother, and that hopefully more kids can be reunited with their mothers or families, I d prefer though that it was legally but I am happy for Enrique that he was able to see his mother. I don t think that Enrique s Journey shouldn t be a necessary read as I think it tells a good story yet has no thing that really is learned from it, as lots of times what it is sharing goes ... Because intention and motivation are notably impossible to determine, scholars have debated over the impetus for rescue; established relationships, religion or the humanistic belief we are all human beings. Pre existing relationships were commonplace and are excluded from Yad Vashem s Righteousness criteria. Kristen Monroe tells the story of Irene, a Polish nurse compelled to hide Jews as she had close childhood friendships with many Jewish girls, and had witnessed suffering in the ghettos. Irene instead likened the Germans, not the Jews, to cockroaches. In contrast, Joanna Michlic has emphasised the humanitarian desire to save innocent life. This has been backed up by Jacques Semelin, who cites a banality of good in contrast to Hannah Arendt s often quoted banality of evil suggesting that some people consider themselves connected to all human beings through the bonds of common humanity. State Intervention and the Economy Essay It is widely believed by scholars that many of the varying levels of economic development between states are the direct result of a negative correlation between the aforementioned and the varying degrees of state intervention. In most cases it is evident that the more a state intervenes in its economy, the less the country will develop. While, at the same time, a country whose intervention exists at a minimal level will tend to have a stronger economy and a more rapid rate of development. In support of this belief it can be argued that since bureaucratic agents are not elected officials they are able to implement various policies without fear of any negative consequences such as not winning a reelection. As can be inferred from the concepts of market and government failure; government intervention is not necessarily always a bad thing. In fact, sometimes it can lead to the advancement of a nation. Governments whose bureaucracies act in such a way can also be referenced as developmental states ; which means that although the government is interfering with the economy, the bureaucracy is focusing on the long term interest of the country versus the personal gain of a select few in the short term. Through these technologies, students with learning disabilities are able to complete tasks in the classroom that they were otherwise, unable to achieve. When people watch the news and see that every story or top headline is related to violence in their city, it can be hard to convince people that the world may not be as violent as what it being reported. It can be especially difficult to convince people that the world is not as violent as they believe because the news is considered a reputable source of information. According to this aspect of the cultivation theory and the cultivation of fear, people who have not had personal experiences with certain aspects of life, will be most influenced by the messages that are being disseminated on the news. This makes sense because those people have no information to refute or accept what is being reported to them. Naturally, the news is expected to provide a true account of the happenings in the world. Let me now persuade you not to ask for your fee. If you still demand it, you did not do what you promised, therefore I owe you nothing. However, Socrates discredited this, However, not one of these things is true; nor, if you have heard from anyone that I attempt to teach men and require payment, is this true. (Plato, n.d.). For your nostrils look down toward the ground, but mine are wide open and turned outward so that I can catch scents from all around. (Zannos, 2004). For example, in the United States alone, Chinese consumers spent $12 billion on U.S, real estate in only the past year. This trend means that U.S and other foreign real estate will continue to be bought Chinese investors both for residential usage and for hard assets like farmland or similar physical capital. • 39. Essay On Earthquakes And Earthquakes Where are earthquakes and volcanoes found? Volcanoes and earthquakes have been known to man for thousands of years, but until fairly recently their distribution on the globe was thought of as totally haphazard with each event an isolated phenomenon. Yet, if the positioning of the world s volcanoes is considered, it can be seen that most volcanoes are situated within several hundred kilometres of the sea, and moreover, that the regions of volcanic activity are concentrated into several girdles or bands circling the Earth. Most notable amongst these are the so called Ring of Fire surrounding the Pacific Ocean (see figure 1), and the more tenuous and disjointed line running down the centre of the Atlantic Ocean. Throughout geological history, igneous activity has been restricted in the same way, as studies of ancient igneous rocks show. Similarly, earthquakes do not occur randomly over the whole surface of the Earth. Their epicentres also fall into welldefined bands girdling the planet, and in fact, seismic and volcanic activity are well correlated so that bands of concentration for each coincide (Figure 1). Figure 1. Map of the world showing the location of tectonic plate boundaries, volcanoes, hot spots, and earthquake zones. As Coats puts it, traditional Gothic stories for adults provide fairytale themes and motifs with an evil tone (78). If there were not any similarities between these two genres of literature, traditional adult Gothic would not use fairytales as a basis. Furthermore, considering that Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood is a splendid example of traditional fairytales, it is worth observing if Gothic elements can be traced in it. Little Red Riding Hood includes characteristics that resemble Gothic fiction s characteristics as presented by David Punter; an emphasis on portraying the terrifying, a common insistence on archaic settings, a prominent use of the supernatural...
