The movie The Trojan Women (1971) is a successful and compelling contemporary adaption of the
tragedy The Trojan Women, written by Euripides. Overall, the film follows the whole plot very well
and depicts the main characters of Euripides work expressly, especially characters like Cassandra,
Andromache, and Helen. Although the director of the film has made a few slight alterations, audience
can feel Trojan women s grief and pain and comprehend the plot with no trouble.
The film and the ancient play have some minor disparities. First, in the beginning, the play starts with
the conversation between Poseidon and Athena. Poseidon describes the aftermath of the war and the
bleak scene, giving out a background story. Then, Athena has changed her mind and switched to the
Trojan side. In contract, there is no god involved and appeared in the movie. Poseidon s and Athena s
role is taken by a narrator. The scene of women being pushed is enough to show to the audience the
background. Second, the chorus only sings once in the film, mostly just speaking, while the chorus in
the play sings in between every act. The chorus is used to switch to the next act and to tell the

In an ever connected world, travel among states in increasingly common and accepted. However, a
state must maintain power to secure its borders. Interdependence opens states to threats around the
world. For example, the Ebola virus broke out in West Africa in March 2014, and by October of that
year the United States reported its first case of the virus. The disease also spread to many European
countries. Now, many will point out that this disease was concentrated in Africa, did not affect the
United States or Europe heavily, and does not show the danger of interdependence and less border

When looking to educate myself on the most commonly seen health conditions in hospitals, I turned to
Mrs. Tonya Simpson RN, a registered nurse at St. Joseph hospital in New Jersey. Mrs. Simpson
informed me that Tuberculosis is a disease that she sees profusely at St. Joseph hospital. During the
interview I gained great insight on why she chose this particular disease, the etiology, the frequency,
prevalence, pathophysiology, signs/symptoms, treatments, and the prognosis of Tuberculosis.
Etiology
During the interview with healthcare provider Mrs. Tonya Simpson, she when in great detail
explaining that Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This is a
disease that affects the lungs and can be transmitted from person to person by coughing, face to face
conversing, sneezing, and even breathing the same air of an infected person can spread the disease. A
profuse amount of people have TB, but the bacteria is not active, which prevents them from being
contagious (T. Simpson, personal communication, March 25, 2015). It is only when the disease is
presented to be active that it can be transmitted. Seniors and children have a greater risk to be infected
with Tuberculosis due to their weak immune systems.

1. Who are the most influential people in your life? Tough question to answer as there have been so
many. The obvious of course would be my mother, wife, and daughter. But educationally, two people
really come to mind. One was my microbiology professor, a very small in stature woman from the
Philippines, who gave her entire lecture series, start to finish, over an entire semester, without ever
looking at a note. Not once. She would have been my mentor for my master s degree had I not change
course to dental school. The other is a clinical instructor at the univ.of Detroit dental school, dr.
Benjamin Leone. One of the toughest instructors we had in dental school. Getting an a from him was
next to impossible. But he taught us more, made us do our work to the highest standard, than most
others. 2. What is your inspiration for doing your job? Couple of things. From a personal perspective,
dentistry allows for a great lifestyle, giving adequate free time to pursue whatever it is you enjoy.
From a professional perspective, helping people, relieving their discomfort, seeing the change in self
